- 3:25And we are off. Welcome back to Zone to Speak.
- 3:30In this episode, I sit down with the incredible Ana Vitória Magalhães,
- 3:34also known as Tota, a rising star in professional cycling.
- 3:38From the streets of Brazil to the toughest races in Europe, Tota has carved
- 3:43out her own path in the world of cycling with grit, passion,
- 3:47and rentless determination.
- 3:50She's not just a racer. She's an aggressive breakaway specialist,
- 3:54a national champion, and the first Brazilian woman to sign with a world tour team.
- 3:59I will dive into her journey from football to cycling, her bold racing style,
- 4:05and what it means to push the boundaries in a sport that is still growing in South America.
- 4:11I will also ask Tata about her challenges of being a Brazilian cyclist in the
- 4:16European peloton and the pressure of representing her country at the highest level.
- 4:21Whether you are an aspiring racer, a cycling fan, or just someone who loves
- 4:25the story of perseverance and ambition, this episode is packed with inspiration.
- 4:31Let's get to it. Tata, welcome to Zone to Speak.
- 4:35Thank you. Super happy to be here. So yeah, let's chat.
- 4:39Cool. So I was doing a little bit of a search on you.
- 4:43I don't know how much you have done, but I read that you did some football,
- 4:47soccer, as some call it, before cycling.
- 4:51Of course, Brazil, national sport is football. People are crazy about football.
- 4:57Cycling is more of a mode of transportation, pleasure, leisure.
- 5:03Sports is starting to grow there. So how did you start getting to this sport?
- 5:09Yeah, so, yeah, I used to play soccer for, like, 10 or 12 years,
- 5:14and, like, on a really professional way.
- 5:17Then I got an invite to study at high school in the United States,
- 5:24and at this time, I didn't want to become, like, a really professional soccer player.
- 5:30Then I stopped, like, I used to, I was playing, like, as a hobby,
- 5:35and, yeah, my whole family writes for fun.
- 5:38They do normally like a Christmas ride together.
- 5:42Yeah, until the Christmas Redeemer.
- 5:49And yeah, like I asked my mom to join. She told me like, yeah,
- 5:53but you need to train a little bit.
- 5:57Then I started training. Like we are more or less like 30 on the family that rides.
- 6:03So it's like a big group. And yeah, I did my first Christmas ride with them on 2015.
- 6:13And since then, yeah, riding, it's like, yeah, part of me.
- 6:20Cool. It's funny you mentioned that because I saw one of your videos when you
- 6:25were in Brazil, I think for this past Christmas.
- 6:28And I was thinking maybe you got them into cycling because I saw you're like,
- 6:32oh, my mom is coming back from her ride.
- 6:34And so it was the other way around. yeah like my
- 6:38grandpa also right so yeah it's it's really
- 6:42nice to see them and also like it's really special to
- 6:45well cycling now is my hobby but it's my
- 6:48well it's my work and but
- 6:50it's also my hobby and to share this with them
- 6:53it's super special yeah i bet super
- 6:57special to have you know they understand
- 7:01you they get you yeah they understand racing
- 7:04my dad that like rides less still
- 7:08he like really watch the the.
- 7:11Races and he really likes woman cycling so
- 7:14it's yeah it's pretty nice i'll say yeah and
- 7:18how was the cycling scene in brazil when you were starting out
- 7:21um like there was some amateurs like
- 7:24i am from rio so it's a big city so it's a
- 7:27little bit difficult to train there but we have like
- 7:30national park and you can ride there with
- 7:33no cars so like climbing in rio is
- 7:36quite nice we have one climb
- 7:40that is called vista chinesa and it's like a 5k climb
- 7:43with nine percent average so it's a pretty hard
- 7:47time and yeah like for amateur it's really nice to to ride in Rio as in like
- 7:54if you have two hours three hours in your day to like yeah get out of like the
- 7:59city the cows it's pretty nice and so when I started there was quite some.
- 8:06Some yeah amateurs there but
- 8:10I didn't have the I don't
- 8:13know like I didn't have the contact with professional ones you
- 8:16know and yeah i
- 8:18think that was the difficult on like
- 8:22on the beginning that i didn't have any friends or yeah from my age nothing
- 8:28it was always like friend of my mom you know so so yeah i think that was the
- 8:34hard hardest part but still like today when i go back to brazil It's like huge right now.
- 8:41It's not like, it's like the amateur scene is really, really big,
- 8:46but then the professional, no.
- 8:49Yeah. Yeah, because I'm Brazilian as well, and I don't spend a lot of time in
- 8:55Brazil as much as I would like to.
- 8:57We were there, my husband and I were there last September, and we did the climb,
- 9:01Vista Chinesa, all the way to Corcovado. Nice, no?
- 9:04Nice. It's super nice. It's a good, challenging climb, but the views make it so pleasant.
- 9:12Yeah, yeah. But yeah, I haven't seen many professionals coming out of there.
- 9:17Part is like you are on a big city like
- 9:20really chaotic city and then you have like a national
- 9:23park on the middle you know yeah that's the
- 9:26yeah i don't know if it still is but
- 9:29that's the largest urban forest in
- 9:32the city globally so yeah it's pretty
- 9:35magical yeah and how was your move from
- 9:38did you move from the u.s to europe or from brazil to
- 9:42europe yeah no i didn't went to i didn't
- 9:44go to united states oh so you ended up not going to the
- 9:47high school there with it with the soccer team okay and then
- 9:51in 2022 i got an invite
- 9:54to race la volta my first race in europe was la
- 9:58volta wow throwing you into the deep
- 10:00end and i was like okay if i survive here
- 10:03i can survive whatever it takes you know and then
- 10:07yeah i've raised la volta as in
- 10:09like a stud year for for a team spanish was
- 10:13that with bink no was with soltech
- 10:16okay a small conti team from
- 10:19spain and then yeah like i did a really good network there like i got to meet
- 10:25people and then like i signed for biscaia durango was my first really conti
- 10:31team here in spain in 2023 so two years ago.
- 10:37Yeah, almost two years and something. And yeah, then I came to Spain in 2023.
- 10:45Didn't know how to speak Spanish.
- 10:48But yeah, since then, I'm living here in Spain. I really like it.
- 10:52I think it's really similar to Brazil as in the vibe.
- 10:58So yeah, super happy. I feel really at home here.
- 11:02I was living in Basque country. so it
- 11:06was a little bit like different than
- 11:09Girona now because there it rains a lot yeah and like winter is really winter
- 11:15but yeah I I was always like ah if I survive here then I survive other places
- 11:21you know I mean yeah I survived and then moved to Girona last year,
- 11:28nice yeah I first heard of you because I also
- 11:31moved here last year and I was
- 11:34recommended to go to this mechanic bike project yeah
- 11:38I think Gerona and he was like oh you're also Brazilian you need to meet this
- 11:41family and you need to meet Tata and then when I look her you up I was like
- 11:45oh my god she needs to come on the podcast so I'm so happy you're here yeah
- 11:49me too really so okay so incredible 2023 you signed for a continental team yeah,
- 11:58Barely two years later, you are in a world tour team, big team, move star.
- 12:06How are you feeling? How are you taking it all in?
- 12:11I say to everybody that I don't have rush.
- 12:15I know where I want to go, but I don't have rush. I'm not in a rush.
- 12:20And yeah, everything came super fast.
- 12:23Like i went for my first olympic games also that's right and yeah i think like
- 12:30i really like to learn and i think i'm a fast learner so that's why i think
- 12:35i did like some quite big steps in two years,
- 12:42and yeah like i'm living my dream you
- 12:44know like since the day i came to spain i'm
- 12:48always saying like yeah I'm living my dream but truly I'm I'm
- 12:51living my dreams and being part of movie
- 12:54star is like yeah it's huge like I didn't know that like I could improve more
- 13:02and that there was like such a big instructor on the team and all the information
- 13:08so yeah I'm learning a lot and having like Marlon Hoyser, Liane Lippert,
- 13:14two like cyclists that I'm a huge fan being my teammates now.
- 13:19It's like, yeah, crazy, crazy to believe it. But yeah.
- 13:24Mind blowing. I bet to have people you look up to now be your teammates.
- 13:29But I hope you know you earned this spot, you know.
- 13:33Yeah. I just wish that I don't get used to it. You know, I just want to,
- 13:39yeah, feel like I'm living my dream still day by day.
- 13:43Yeah, I see what you're saying. I think, yeah, only time will tell,
- 13:46you know, on your journey and everything.
- 13:48I'm sure you're going to continue to conquer more and more. And I think you have this attitude.
- 13:53You're already saying it. You
- 13:54know, every day you know you're living your dream. So I don't think you...
- 13:59You change in a good, positive way of evolving. Yeah, that's it.
- 14:03Yeah, like, I don't want to stay, like, wake up and be on my comfort zone.
- 14:10Whereas I want to, like, wake up and see, like, yeah, I'm here.
- 14:14I'm wearing this movie star kit, you know. That's so sick. Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:20And you are known for being an aggressive writer who loves a breakaway.
- 14:27What draws you to that racing style just
- 14:30comes naturally yeah i guess so like
- 14:33i really like to attack i prefer attacking than
- 14:36defending myself and like on the last two years that i was on a conti team i
- 14:43had this freedom so so yeah i think like people i i needed people to get to
- 14:51know me And I found that way.
- 14:54I really like to attack, to feel the race, think I'm a true racer.
- 15:00And yeah, I really enjoy it.
- 15:05And what are the lessons you have learned from being in a pro peloton?
- 15:11On first like for sure is believing in
- 15:13yourself i think everyone there is super
- 15:16strong and yeah i think that's the
- 15:19the mentality part that you have it or you don't you know and i think that's
- 15:24the thing that yeah for example demi vollering or malin hoise have it you know
- 15:30like they really believe in themselves and they think they win they can win
- 15:34and i think that's the thing that That's the key, you know, and also like, yeah.
- 15:40Try to have less mental fat dignities as possible. Like for me,
- 15:45for sure, the head is the thing, you know, that's the key. Everyone there is super strong.
- 15:51Probably like, yeah, 90% of the peloton has more or less the same power, you know.
- 15:57And the mentality, that's the key.
- 16:00And yeah, like enjoy, really, because like, for example, I love racing.
- 16:05And like after finishing a race i'm already like thinking about the next ones
- 16:10and i think that's something that yeah i think it's like the little kid inside
- 16:16you know that you cannot let it die,
- 16:19and yeah yeah i would say enjoy it
- 16:23and have a relaxed mind about pressure and stuff yeah i think you hit the nail
- 16:30in the head because it's true when you stop to think about it of course There
- 16:35are some people that might come out more in the peloton,
- 16:42like Wolverine or Kopecky.
- 16:44But at the end of the day, more or less, like you said, everybody has about the same power.
- 16:52Most teams have a very good support for the physical training,
- 16:58nutrition, and everything.
- 16:59So it does come a lot to the mind
- 17:02how strong is your mind to get you through tough
- 17:05moments how strong is your mind to keep the kid alive how
- 17:09strong is your mind to yeah to keep going
- 17:12and believe in yourself you can never stop believing yourself or
- 17:15be what's the word i'm looking for
- 17:18you know when you look around and you see all these strong people
- 17:21and self-doubt you can't there's no room for
- 17:24it true like to know that that's your
- 17:27place also you know exactly yeah and
- 17:30of course like when you get to a world tour team you
- 17:33have a little bit more of pressure for results and stuff
- 17:36like yeah you go to the race and yeah the team wants to win you know but yeah
- 17:42like i don't know pressure is a privilege you know so think a hundred percent
- 17:48have this in your mind that yeah like okay i i'm feeling pressure right now but then like yeah.
- 17:56That's what it takes, you know? Yeah. And how does it feel, speaking of pressure
- 18:01and privilege, how does it feel to be carrying the Brazilian flag in this world tour peloton now?
- 18:09I think there's so many people so excited to watch the race this year.
- 18:13I really think that Brazilian people are different, as in the way of cheering.
- 18:20We are such a big country, so there's a lot of fans. I really feel like grateful for all of them.
- 18:27You see like a post of, I don't know, myself on Movistar, Instagram,
- 18:32like the amount of Brazilian fans there.
- 18:35It's so nice. Like I really feel it.
- 18:38And also like on the races, sometimes a Brazilian flag or someone shout my name.
- 18:44This, like it feels really a dream, you know.
- 18:49And yeah, like pressure is a privilege. so
- 18:52I might as well like enjoy it
- 18:55really enjoying and to feel
- 18:58that also I think like if I'm feeling that
- 19:01that means that I'm getting to the point where I
- 19:04want to to be and yeah
- 19:07everything that I want for my
- 19:10career are stuff that will come with
- 19:13pressure so yeah I just need to
- 19:16part of the job yeah that's it yeah so
- 19:20you you have been already at Giro Vuelta
- 19:24do you know your schedule for 2025 are you
- 19:26doing any of those races yeah I will
- 19:29do one but we're still like starting it
- 19:33out because also like since I'm the it's
- 19:36my first year on the team they are getting to know me like
- 19:39which are my abilities on like
- 19:43in which way I can they can use me so so yeah we have more or less race calendar
- 19:49already but still like yeah sometimes we are already like moving things around
- 19:55to to really get the best out of me but for sure I'm gonna do one of the run tours,
- 20:02excited to see that and how is how is a day in the life of a pro cyclist.
- 20:10It's the best way it's possible like I wake up at like here in Jirona I wake up at like 8 a.m.
- 20:19Like really have a chill morning.
- 20:23I would do like for sure my cornflakes or oat porridge.
- 20:27It depends on how the training is.
- 20:32And then, yeah, like one hour after waking up, I would do my mobility session activation.
- 20:39And then at 10, go for the ride.
- 20:43Do my session, like normally two or four or five hours.
- 20:48Depends on the day then come back eat straight
- 20:52a lot of carbs a lot
- 20:55of carbs that's like my favorite
- 20:58part and yeah then like chill
- 21:02a little bit rest a little bit and if i have gym
- 21:04i would go to the gym or like some
- 21:07i don't know breathing classes because i do it a lot and
- 21:11yeah and then eat again dinner
- 21:15sleep and all over again sounds
- 21:19really good though i'm sure those training sessions
- 21:22a lot of them must be really tough yeah yeah yeah it is but yeah part of the
- 21:29job and are weekends the same or more or less hours on the bike like it depends
- 21:35like since i mean i live on a Saturday every day, you know?
- 21:41So yeah. Exactly. That's why I'm like, I'm asking, but every day is the weekend for you.
- 21:46That's it. So it depends. Like, for example, tomorrow I have five hours and
- 21:50a half and it's Tuesday. So yeah.
- 21:53Yeah. Nice. Yeah. When I can go on a ride during the week at 10,
- 21:57I'm always saying it's pro hour.
- 21:59Yeah. It's a pro ride hour.
- 22:03100%. Yeah. And where do you ride mostly here
- 22:06for your your training do you go up els angels or do you do other if i have
- 22:12f i would go to amer san marty climb because it's like a really it's not that
- 22:19steep but also like it's a it's constant you know how do i say it's constant
- 22:24constant yeah constant yeah,
- 22:27and it's like a 9k climb something so i'll go there normally all the pros are there also,
- 22:36yeah because Los Angeles is very famous but you go up and then you go down yeah
- 22:41that's it I like more a constant long climb as well if I have efforts and like
- 22:49it's a short ride then I would do the opposite side of Els,
- 22:53that's punchy yeah yeah,
- 22:56Because then there's no descent on the middle. Yeah. But I really like else.
- 23:00So if I have like a two hours ride with efforts on the middle, I would go there.
- 23:05Okay. But then like, because to go to Ameris, like two hours,
- 23:10less than two hours, it's impossible, you know? Yeah. Whoa. So yeah.
- 23:15What's the day to Roca Corba? Yeah, three times. Whoa.
- 23:21Yeah. Yeah, in the end, I was like, no, no more.
- 23:26This year and like for my like if
- 23:29i have a free four hours ride i would go to the coast that's
- 23:32nice mine too and the winter perfect
- 23:35in summer no i would go to like san
- 23:38gregory to that area but in winter coast
- 23:41loop is the best yeah i agree though
- 23:44i probably go in a very different pace than you but
- 23:47it's so nice to get one enjoying the
- 23:50view yeah yeah yeah you get there just to
- 23:53see the ocean have some food come back home that's
- 23:57perfect right was i
- 24:00gonna ask you do you see anything
- 24:03changing in brazil now or south
- 24:06america more women coming into the world
- 24:09tour yeah for sure like we have a lot of latin americans here now and in europe
- 24:17well on my team we have paula colombian girl also have catalina the chile from
- 24:23chile in a pro conti team juliana on picnic,
- 24:29so yeah we have a lot of new faces in the in europe and i think that's also
- 24:36because like the pan-american races and stuff are like really working out and and yeah i hope like.
- 24:45Year by year, we improve that, you know? Yeah, that's really good.
- 24:48I also see, hopefully, I think that's what I'm saying.
- 24:53Hopefully I'm right, that more and more the teams are also looking into South
- 24:57America and in Africa, just other destinations that are not typically known
- 25:01for cycling, but they are looking for talent.
- 25:04Like, if you stop to think, Brazil is such a big country.
- 25:09The amount of talent that for sure has it there, you know? Like if you see,
- 25:13for example, Netherlands, it's such a small country.
- 25:18The top 20 best cyclists are from there, you know?
- 25:22It's crazy to think that maybe like in Brazil, for example, there are some huge
- 25:26talent, maybe like a new Copac is there and we don't know.
- 25:32And any word of advice for any of the young female cyclists in South America
- 25:38that would like to also have this dream to come to Europe?
- 25:41Yeah to believe it and really try to
- 25:44work things out you know like yeah I
- 25:48mean the amount of no I had in my life until I got to a the first team yeah
- 25:56it's crazy but yeah you just need to keep showing up keep trying at some point
- 26:02you have the yes and you have the door opening here So, yeah,
- 26:07I think it's just keep showing up, do the work, believe it.
- 26:11And at some point, things will turn out.
- 26:16Absolutely. Never give up. I think if you, like I said, just keep doing your
- 26:21work, keep getting stronger and don't be discouraged because it's not everyone
- 26:25that has yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 26:27Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I haven't heard anyone actually have this story that all the
- 26:32stars lined up and everything was easy.
- 26:35In all parts of life, you know, like if you're, I don't know,
- 26:39like someone that works on the finance, the first, trying to find a job is super
- 26:46hard, no? So yeah, it's the same in cycling.
- 26:49Just have to be patient and to keep trying, keep trying not knocking the door
- 26:55and at some point it will come.
- 26:58Yeah. And when you're not cycling, how do you reset and take care of yourself?
- 27:03I really like to watch movies
- 27:06and read so yeah if I'm chilling like
- 27:10having having a chill afternoon I
- 27:13would do that I think that's the best way to relax but
- 27:17also like being my with my family and friends are for
- 27:20me it's like my heart is full you know so yeah
- 27:24I really miss them but part of also
- 27:26the job they come sometimes like
- 27:29my mom is here right now super nice yeah she
- 27:33rides so I can ride with her a little bit
- 27:36but yeah like being
- 27:39with my family not doing much just talking and also of course watching soccer
- 27:45because that's part of me and yeah just chilling You talked a little bit about
- 27:55eating cornflakes or oatmeal porridge.
- 27:59What is your nutrition like for before ride, recovery?
- 28:07That's, I think that's the thing that I most improved the past year.
- 28:12Because, yeah, I think we underfrew a lot, most of the women's peloton.
- 28:19And when I started to really eat carbs and clean carbs, of course,
- 28:26for example, the first three months I gained some weight.
- 28:31But then the body just started burning all over again. It's like putting gasoline
- 28:37on a car and the first few rides you feel like it's not going and then boom.
- 28:46So yeah, I don't know. On a hard day, I would eat in the morning 160,
- 28:53170, almost 200 grams of corb. That's a lot.
- 28:58And yeah, in the ride, fueling 100 grams of corbs.
- 29:03If I have like a easy day then 50 60
- 29:06grams and then come back
- 29:09how many hours for the two three hours you
- 29:11have like if I have two hours 50 grams okay
- 29:15makes sense yeah yeah for example today
- 29:18I have four and a half and I did 90 grams
- 29:21per hour so yeah but it's also something that you
- 29:24need to train you know yeah absolutely because
- 29:27your body doesn't digest that easily so many carbs yeah
- 29:31that's it but yeah like I try to eat as
- 29:33much clean as possible so good foods good carbs and then yeah after the ride
- 29:40more or less the same like 150 grams of carb depending on the day and so so
- 29:47yeah a little bit of protein of course but mostly carbs yeah,
- 29:53Yeah, when I was training a lot, I used to eat so many carbs.
- 29:56And I think I was the skinniest ever.
- 29:58Yeah. And also, if you feel right on the ride, you don't feel the need of like,
- 30:05you don't feel hungry on the day, you know?
- 30:09Yeah. That's how it's supposed to be. If you get home and you want to eat anything
- 30:14and everything, you didn't do it right.
- 30:17That means that, yeah, you under food. Yeah.
- 30:20How about if you have a day off and
- 30:23you want a cheat meal what is your favorite thing go to
- 30:26i for sure like a really good pizza or a hamburger yeah like my top one top
- 30:34three favorite food is pizza pasta and sandwich and bread so like i'm really really huge fan of carbs.
- 30:45Eat like yeah pizza or maybe a
- 30:48hamburger but i would say pizza for sure
- 30:51yeah i love pizza too i'm a savory person so you can put me too pie or pizza
- 30:56definitely going for pizza yeah me too well like if i have like a really easy
- 31:02ride one hour and a half i would stop on a cafe eat a cake maybe or a cookie um,
- 31:08drink a coffee, enjoy the day. So, yeah.
- 31:13And as we spoke about, you signed up this year with Movistar team.
- 31:19What are your goals for the next two years?
- 31:22Any specific races, ambitions you are targeting for 2025 and 2026?
- 31:27I would say for sure, like first year, improve as much as possible. Like learn, of course.
- 31:34Yeah. As I say, I am like sharing the team with Marlon Heusser,
- 31:39Olympic medalist, Diana Lippert, like fourth on Worlds.
- 31:45So like a stage, two stage winner, gyro stage winner.
- 31:50So like really people that I can learn a lot from.
- 31:55And yeah, so I would say like first learn, improve, develop myself,
- 32:02improve, learn, develop myself and yeah, like we'll see.
- 32:07Which level I am you know I really
- 32:11want to be a really good domestic for the team someone that
- 32:14they really can trust so so so
- 32:18yeah for these two years would be this like as in like I did such a huge step
- 32:24and and like on a fast way yeah now I'm like yeah Now you arrive where you want
- 32:32to be Then take it easy Slowly,
- 32:37So yeah, we'll see I think that's smart.
- 32:41Observe, learn Take advantage of everything That the team is giving to you And
- 32:47I'm sure you're going to go Big places I really want to see you in Tour de Femme Yeah,
- 32:53me too I really enjoy them So I think that's really important.
- 32:58So, yeah, I'm really putting all my trust on them, on my team and my coach,
- 33:03my nutritionist, my doctor, so my directors.
- 33:07So, yeah, I think you're on a good way.
- 33:11And, yeah, I'm really believing that I can really reach a really high level.
- 33:18So, yeah, we'll see about that.
- 33:21I'm very excited. Yeah. And how was the Olympics?
- 33:25You you were part of the brazilian national team this past year 2024 how was that experience,
- 33:32yeah like when i got into cycling
- 33:35and i knew that i wanted to become professional cyclist
- 33:39i put it on my door on my in brazil on my room like the pictures of the olympics
- 33:45and i was like yeah this is where i want to go but i was always thinking about
- 33:51los angeles 2028 because yeah if If I was starting on 2022,
- 33:57I would have like two years to be on Olympics.
- 34:02So it wasn't like realistic, you know.
- 34:05But yeah, like things went pretty fast.
- 34:10I believed a lot and I dreamed a lot about Olympics. So when I was there,
- 34:15it felt like that I already been to, you know.
- 34:20You played it all in your head already. And you had this vision board and you manifested.
- 34:26Yeah, because I really like to mentalize stuff, like put it on my head,
- 34:31how it would be, you know, things like that.
- 34:35And so, yeah, it's huge. Like all the countries there, the nations.
- 34:43Like people from Africa, like it's a mini city inside Paris.
- 34:50So yeah, it was pretty special to be there.
- 34:54Since like in Tokyo, we didn't have any, any cyclist, Brazilian cyclists.
- 35:00So yeah, I hope like it wasn't the race I've been wanting to,
- 35:06like, I didn't feel, I didn't felt that great, but, but yeah,
- 35:12Los Angeles, I will still be there.
- 35:14So I was going to ask if you're planning to go in 2028.
- 35:18So yeah for sure like i really learned a
- 35:20lot absorb a lot of things and like
- 35:24i feel right now i'm ready to try something
- 35:28in los angeles great i'm always
- 35:31thinking like yeah if in two years i was there imagine four
- 35:35years you know like really doing the four-year cycle to olympics yeah so yeah
- 35:41it's more like more than half of what i have as a professional cyclist so yeah
- 35:49we'll see yeah so that's an incredible,
- 35:53five year plan you know you have movie star you have the Olympics a lot to look up yeah,
- 36:00just keep showing just keep showing up putting my work living your dream every
- 36:07day living your Saturday.
- 36:10Living Saturday on my dream love it I just have a few fun rapid fire questions
- 36:18for you I think I know the answer to this one but favorite training route in Brazil in Brazil,
- 36:24Vista Chinesa how about Girona Coast Loop,
- 36:29and favorite anywhere if you could pick anywhere you've been what's your favorite
- 36:34route I would say Coast Loop, yeah, Girona okay, cool hardest race you have
- 36:41done Giro d'Italia State,
- 36:45four or five I think the day that we climbed blockhouse yeah,
- 36:51Do you prefer a tough, steep climb or a very technical descent?
- 36:58Tough, steep climb, I would say. Any pre-race ritual or superstition?
- 37:05I would talk with my parents like one hour before race.
- 37:10One song that gets you hyped up?
- 37:14Rufus Dussault. I like that. I'm going to put it on my playlist.
- 37:19And if you could ride with any cyclist past or present who would it be that's a hard but,
- 37:29well i would say like anna van der breggen like now i can race against her.
- 37:37From retiring so yeah awesome
- 37:42anything else you would like to share with us yeah i
- 37:46think something that i would say is
- 37:49that like expect rocks
