- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 2: The Rex was not chasing the Jeep. Murray! Murray, you there?
- 0:10Speaker 2: You love sandwiches, huh? Let's go to 80. His name
- 0:14Speaker 2: is Bo.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Wow.
- 0:16Speaker 2: That's prime time, baby. I had a crush on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Coachman was black. He cost them the game last night.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Although they won the game. You're listening to Stugatz & Company.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It is Stugatz & Company presented by FanDuel and the
- 0:34Speaker 1: FanDuel Sportsbook.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Happy NFL kickoff day, Mikey. I mean, on a Wednesday.
- 0:38Speaker 2: How about that? Hump day.
- 0:39Speaker 4: This is everything I've waited so long for. I am
- 0:44Speaker 4: so excited it's finally here.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:47Speaker 4: I've said goodbye to my family. I told them I'll
- 0:50Speaker 4: see you in January. I'll see you in February.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, we're here.
- 0:55Speaker 5: We made it.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Put it on the poll, Mikey. It's just me and
- 0:58Speaker 1: Mikey today for the pods. We have some big guests.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We'll get to that in just a second. Before the
- 1:04Speaker 1: first game of the NFL season, do you say goodbye
- 1:06Speaker 1: to your family as if you're going away for six months?
- 1:11Speaker 1: Because you're right.
- 1:12Speaker 2: You should. Yes, I am.
- 1:14Speaker 4: I am. I'm going to that chair right over there
- 1:16Speaker 4: where there's the two TVs and they can just they
- 1:20Speaker 4: can just see me then.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yes, but we are loaded today.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson is going to join us later on this episode. Yeah,
- 1:28Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson, the Vikings wide receiver. We'll be joined by
- 1:32Speaker 1: Bijan Robinson as well in hour number two. Jerome Bettis
- 1:36Speaker 1: is going to be the big Stewie today. And then
- 1:39Speaker 1: God bless football. A combination of Golik and our boy,
- 1:46Speaker 1: Steve Spagnola.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Spags!
- 1:49Speaker 5: Spags is back!
- 1:53Speaker 2: But we start with tennis. I'm sorry.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It was one of the great matches I've ever seen. Well,
- 2:00Speaker 1: let's start this way, Mikey, okay? I said to you
- 2:03Speaker 1: right before we started, I stayed up for that entire
- 2:06Speaker 1: tennis match. The match I'm talking about is Ben Shelton
- 2:09Speaker 1: and Carlos Alcarez. They played in Flushing Meadows, a five-setter,
- 2:14Speaker 1: a classic, one of the greatest matches I've ever seen.
- 2:18Speaker 2: They played that match until 3 in the morning. 3 a.m., yes.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:23Speaker 1: You know who took over for SportsCenter? They had to
- 2:25Speaker 1: throw it to SportsCenter. It was Michael Eves and Nicole Briscoe.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Wow. Live.
- 2:32Speaker 5: That's the morning crew, isn't it?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Well, no, that's the, I think it's after the game crew,
- 2:37Speaker 2: you know?
- 2:38Speaker 1: And so after the final game was on this night,
- 2:41Speaker 1: 3 a.m.
- 2:42Speaker 2: In the morning. Do you go home and try to
- 2:45Speaker 2: sleep if you go to that match? What do you do? Wow.
- 2:50Speaker 5: I probably, no.
- 2:51Speaker 1: No.
- 2:52Speaker 5: No, you probably can't go to sleep. You're probably just up.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I had trouble getting up once the match was over.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Ben Shelton ended up winning the match, by the way.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But I say to Mikey, hey, I got to talk
- 3:03Speaker 2: about this tennis match. What a match. And he says
- 3:05Speaker 2: to me, not as good as the bowling match. He
- 3:08Speaker 2: started a bowling league last night. What happened last night
- 3:11Speaker 2: with your bowling league?
- 3:13Speaker 4: Stugatz, I had two friends that wanted to join the league.
- 3:19Speaker 4: So we were looking. It's a five-person league. So one
- 3:23Speaker 4: of my friends, my friend Katie, says, I got somebody
- 3:26Speaker 4: that can join.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:28Speaker 5: He's a friend of ours.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I said, great.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I walk into the bowling league, and it's what you
- 3:33Speaker 4: imagine on a Tuesday night in a bowling alley. It's
- 3:36Speaker 4: a lot of just not attractive people, a lot of
- 3:40Speaker 4: just trolls.
- 3:42Speaker 2: A lot of sadness.
- 3:44Speaker 5: A lot of sadness.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yes. Sorry to do that to you, but a
- 3:47Speaker 2: lot of sadness. I mean, guys walking in with two balls.
- 3:50Speaker 2: You have a spare ball. It's weird. It's like, is
- 3:53Speaker 2: he having a guy just for legs? I mean.
- 3:58Speaker 4: A bowling alley on a Tuesday night might be the
- 4:00Speaker 4: only room I can walk into and be the handsomest
- 4:03Speaker 4: person in the room.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Part of the reason I go. Part of the reason
- 4:08Speaker 5: I go. Stugatz, this guy walked in.
- 4:14Speaker 2: You're the nicest house in a shitty neighborhood.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 4:19Speaker 5: I have the inflatable outdoor pool.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I love it. Oh my God. That's too funny.
- 4:25Speaker 4: This guy walked in who my friend, who my friend
- 4:27Speaker 4: Katie brought, and he was the most beautiful man I'd
- 4:33Speaker 4: ever seen in my life.
- 4:36Speaker 5: He was Stu gots. He was six, five, right?
- 4:41Speaker 4: He looked like if Alan Richman, the Reacher, and George
- 4:49Speaker 4: Clooney had a baby and he grew up to be
- 4:52Speaker 4: a helicopter pilot who cured cancer.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Okay? Okay, yes. That's very good looking. Yep.
- 4:57Speaker 4: He's ripped beyond belief, wearing a skin-tight shirt with glasses
- 5:05Speaker 4: on so he looks like a scientist.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:08Speaker 5: He's a DEA agent.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:12Speaker 4: And I was immediately emasculated to the point of I
- 5:16Speaker 4: couldn't like I didn't know what to say.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Like he spoke and I was like, hey.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Hi.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:25Speaker 4: And it got to the point where he would bowl
- 5:28Speaker 4: an eight and women three lanes down were coming over
- 5:31Speaker 4: to give him a high five.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Really?
- 5:33Speaker 5: Just so that they could be in his presence.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He would leave like a 7-10 split and they still
- 5:37Speaker 1: wanted to hug him.
- 5:38Speaker 5: They were like, oh, my God, you bowled that so good.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And I've never been more mad in my life. And
- 5:51Speaker 2: no one's coming over to you.
- 5:52Speaker 5: He's coming over to me.
- 5:53Speaker 6: So I.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Go, all right, I'm going to try and be friends
- 5:59Speaker 4: with this guy. And I go, hey, anybody want a drink?
- 6:01Speaker 4: I'm going to go to the bar. Drinks are on me.
- 6:03Speaker 4: First round's on me.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Guy ordered a water.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 6:07Speaker 5: And I'm like, you know what? Of course you ordered
- 6:09Speaker 5: a water.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Right. He's Taylor.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I was so emasculated.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:18Speaker 4: The first thing I said, I turned to another friend
- 6:20Speaker 4: of mine who was on the league and we both said,
- 6:22Speaker 4: so our wives can never come. Our wives can never
- 6:25Speaker 4: come here and watch this.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Because they can never meet this man.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Because they'll fall in love with him. So you were replaced.
- 6:32Speaker 2: You were the.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Nicest house in a bad neighborhood. And this guy replaced
- 6:35Speaker 1: you as the nicer house.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 4: But I was the nicest house with a blow up
- 6:39Speaker 4: pool and they build a mansion next door like like
- 6:43Speaker 4: the freaking Gatsby house.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Just put you to shame. Right.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Just.
- 6:47Speaker 5: And it's one of those like. He only bowled a 135.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Meanwhile, the other guy's got 77 and everyone is flocking
- 7:00Speaker 1: to him.
- 7:03Speaker 4: I was so bad. And now I have to be
- 7:05Speaker 4: on this man's team. Like I know next week.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Any team that we're playing, all the women are going
- 7:11Speaker 4: to show up in full makeup and just because they're like, Oh,
- 7:16Speaker 4: we're playing that guy.
- 7:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:18Speaker 5: And I'm just, like, I was so happy for, like,
- 7:23Speaker 5: two minutes walking in. And everybody was like, oh, check
- 7:25Speaker 5: out the new guy. Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah. No.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 1: No.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Hate the new guy. Right. You need to come up
- 7:31Speaker 2: with a way to get him off your team.
- 7:32Speaker 5: I mean, that's what he did.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Just bring a ringer. Someone who can actually bowl and
- 7:40Speaker 2: is not.
- 7:41Speaker 5: He's Joe Flacco. I mean, no. And then he says
- 7:45Speaker 5: things like, yeah, so I was out in the fields
- 7:47Speaker 5: feeding the horses. And I'm like, stop it.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It's a lie.
- 7:52Speaker 5: It doesn't matter if it's a lie. Right.
- 7:54Speaker 2: You could see him doing it. Right.
- 7:56Speaker 4: He's the front cover of like the romance novels. That's
- 8:02Speaker 4: what like all that was missing was the Fabio hair.
- 8:05Speaker 5: But his hair was somehow better. Right.
- 8:08Speaker 2: He's got everything but a bowling game.
- 8:11Speaker 5: And nobody cared. I'm rolling 180s. And they're like, excuse me, sir.
- 8:16Speaker 2: You're in the way.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Yes.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Was the rest of the team concerned at all that
- 8:20Speaker 1: he's a DEA? Like, were you guys hiding the drugs?
- 8:22Speaker 1: What was going on? What was that? That would be
- 8:26Speaker 1: my only concern. Not that he was better looking than me.
- 8:29Speaker 1: What is this guy going to do when I light
- 8:31Speaker 1: up a dog walker?
- 8:33Speaker 5: My buddy just turns to me and goes, it's legal.
- 8:35Speaker 5: We're fine, right?
- 8:41Speaker 2: He's looking for the hard stuff.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I had to take your wife.
- 8:47Speaker 5: He could. And I couldn't do anything about it. You
- 8:51Speaker 5: just smile. I couldn't do a damn thing.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I'm thinking about taking a picture of this guy wearing
- 8:57Speaker 4: it over my face and crawling into bed with my wife.
- 8:59Speaker 5: You're welcome, honey.
- 9:01Speaker 2: What'd you bowl? How'd you do?
- 9:03Speaker 5: I did all right. He didn't, but who cares?
- 9:06Speaker 2: No, it seems like he was the MVP of the night.
- 9:10Speaker 5: God, I got 20 weeks with this guy Tuesday nights.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Get him on the ship. No.
- 9:16Speaker 4: No.
- 9:17Speaker 2: No, I want him.
- 9:18Speaker 5: No, because he'll take over. You'll be sitting there. He'll
- 9:20Speaker 5: take your job.
- 9:21Speaker 7: You are a married man with two daughters, and you
- 9:24Speaker 7: will look at him like this in the Zoom the
- 9:26Speaker 7: whole time with your fingers crossed, chin resting on your fingers,
- 9:30Speaker 7: and you'll be like, so what else do you do
- 9:32Speaker 7: for fun?
- 9:36Speaker 5: He was that handsome. I was like that.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I hate people like that.
- 9:40Speaker 4: At one point, at one point, he bowled two strikes
- 9:43Speaker 4: in a row. And I said, dude, you're on fire.
- 9:45Speaker 4: I'm going to have to hose you down. And all
- 9:47Speaker 4: the women head snapped around like that. And they go, promise?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Yes. No, they volunteered. I'll hose them down.
- 10:01Speaker 5: I hate him get me a hose.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I hate him oh man no one likes that guy
- 10:09Speaker 1: i mean serious oh what a great gutter ball.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Oh my god he tried so hard on that one
- 10:15Speaker 4: did you see Did you see the way his muscles
- 10:18Speaker 4: rippled when he tried and threw that gutter ball?
- 10:20Speaker 5: I'm bowling a 290 here.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Yes, right, a 290. But he had his strike, but
- 10:26Speaker 2: he had his strike run of two.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Was he celebrating? Was he joke cool? Like, was he
- 10:34Speaker 2: acting like, yeah, that's to be expected?
- 10:36Speaker 5: No, he turned around. It was like, hey, good for me, right? Good, good.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Like, he was just everything you would hate somebody that
- 10:43Speaker 4: handsome to be.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Like, I almost wish he was kind of a dick,
- 10:47Speaker 5: but he wasn't.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 4: He was everything you wanted him to be. Just give
- 10:51Speaker 4: me a reason. Hey, I only bowl on Tuesday nights
- 10:56Speaker 4: so that I can figure out how to cure children
- 10:58Speaker 4: cancer and save puppies from burning buildings.
- 11:01Speaker 5: And all the women are like, ah.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Meanwhile, he's got eight pins left in the alley.
- 11:10Speaker 4: I bet you stop rolling splits there, buddy.
- 11:16Speaker 2: How do we get this guy out? What do we do?
- 11:18Speaker 1: I mean, have a bunch of your other friends bring
- 11:20Speaker 1: a bunch of drugs to the bowling alley.
- 11:22Speaker 2: We have to go to work.
- 11:25Speaker 4: He's like, hey, just so you know, I've got to
- 11:28Speaker 4: miss three weeks. I've got to go down to D.C.
- 11:30Speaker 4: for some summit. And I'm sitting there going, I can't
- 11:32Speaker 4: wait for that freaking three weeks.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I've got to be honest with you.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Me talking about the tennis match is not nearly as
- 11:39Speaker 1: entertaining as you talking about your bowling match.
- 11:43Speaker 5: We didn't even talk about the match. We talked about
- 11:45Speaker 5: how handsome another man was.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Who cares? It's the most entertaining thing we've done this week.
- 11:54Speaker 5: It was my house. It was my house, and now
- 11:56Speaker 5: it's just his.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Oh, God. So forget about the tennis match.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Just know that Carlos Alcaraz lost, and Tiafoe will take
- 12:07Speaker 1: on Ben Shelton in an All-American semifinal at a U.S.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Open that only me and Adnan.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Virk care about. Because the NFL has started. College football
- 12:17Speaker 1: already underway. The NFL has started. So Baker Mayfield, this
- 12:20Speaker 1: is interesting. They removed the chip from his shoulder. They
- 12:23Speaker 1: gave him the third year. I think it's three years,
- 12:25Speaker 1: $ 165 million for the Buccaneers quarterback. It was originally two years,
- 12:31Speaker 1: $ 100 million. Baker wasn't happy.
- 12:33Speaker 2: He never is. And he was.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Going to use it as a chip. And now the
- 12:37Speaker 1: Buccaneers have said, you know what? We're going to remove
- 12:39Speaker 1: that chip. We're going to give you three years, $ 165 million.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Baker has accepted. I'm not certain if that's a good
- 12:44Speaker 1: move just based on the way that Baker plays and
- 12:47Speaker 1: liking to have people that doubt him.
- 12:49Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:51Speaker 5: This is affirmation.
- 12:53Speaker 2: This is confirmation, Mikey.
- 12:55Speaker 1: This is, hey, you have arrived at a place where,
- 12:57Speaker 1: quite frankly, when we signed you, we didn't think you
- 12:59Speaker 1: would arrive at.
- 13:00Speaker 2: You're elite, you know?
- 13:02Speaker 4: But did they help themselves and hurt themselves at the
- 13:06Speaker 4: same time? You signed Baker to three years. You got
- 13:08Speaker 4: your quarterback set, but now you removed the chip from
- 13:10Speaker 4: his shoulder.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Now are you going to get the same Baker?
- 13:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 13:14Speaker 1: That's why I'm asking the question. You might not get
- 13:17Speaker 1: the same Baker for two years until he's headed into
- 13:19Speaker 1: that contract year.
- 13:21Speaker 5: I mean, now.
- 13:22Speaker 1: He feels respected. I don't know what Baker plays like
- 13:25Speaker 1: when he feels respected, you know?
- 13:27Speaker 4: Hey, Tampa Bay, give me a call and we'll come
- 13:29Speaker 4: on this podcast every week and talk about how bad
- 13:31Speaker 4: Baker is. And then you could just play it for
- 13:34Speaker 4: him over and over to keep that chip on his shoulder,
- 13:37Speaker 4: even though I love Baker Mayfield.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Part of me is really.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Upset because I have this vision of how our Jets
- 13:45Speaker 4: are going to move forward. And I don't think, I'm
- 13:48Speaker 4: one of the few that don't think their quarterback is
- 13:50Speaker 4: going to be in the draft next year. I was like,
- 13:53Speaker 4: you know, it would be awesome to have three first-round
- 13:55Speaker 4: picks and a quarterback. You signed Baker, but now that
- 14:00Speaker 4: Baker's going back to the Bucs, I mean, Baker makes.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Them a.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Division contender in that division for the next three years.
- 14:11Speaker 4: That division is wide open. He's that good.
- 14:14Speaker 1: He's the best quarterback in that division, which is not
- 14:17Speaker 1: saying much, but he's the best quarterback in that division.
- 14:21Speaker 4: There are very few divisions where I don't think Baker
- 14:23Speaker 4: would at least fight for the top spot. I mean,
- 14:26Speaker 4: he's not going to beat Josh Allen. He's not going
- 14:28Speaker 4: to beat Joe Burrow or Lamar Jackson. But, like, you
- 14:31Speaker 4: put him in the NFC East, is he the best quarterback?
- 14:34Speaker 4: Maybe Jayden Daniels can be that.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 14:35Speaker 2: You put him in the AFC East. You're right. He's not.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Would you put him ahead of Drake May?
- 14:41Speaker 5: I wouldn't. But he'd have an argument. But he'd have
- 14:45Speaker 5: an argument.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Okay. Let's go to the north. There's two there. Lamar.
- 14:51Speaker 2: And Joe Burrow.
- 14:52Speaker 4: He's not better than Mahomes, but I would probably put
- 14:55Speaker 4: him second in that division.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The Texans would love Baker. They would win a Super
- 14:58Speaker 2: Bowl with Baker.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Could you imagine?
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Baker on the Texans.
- 15:01Speaker 2: He's better than all the quarterbacks. Trevor Lawrence, better?
- 15:04Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, he's better than Trevor Lawrence.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Agreed. Bo Nix, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Just Mahomes. Just Mahomes. Just Mahomes.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Not Herbert.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Not Herbert.
- 15:15Speaker 2: You'd rather have Mayfield.
- 15:16Speaker 5: I would rather have Baker.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Okay, so he'd be the second best quarterback in the
- 15:19Speaker 1: AFC West. In the East, NFC East, Dak, Dart, Hurts, Jaden.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I'm not certain. At this stage, I wouldn't take Baker
- 15:32Speaker 1: over everyone but Jalen Hurts for me.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts, to me, I think he's better than Jalen Hurts.
- 15:39Speaker 4: I think Jalen Hurts is a quarterback. He's a better
- 15:41Speaker 4: quarterback than Jalen Hurts, Mike. I think Jalen Hurts is
- 15:45Speaker 4: on just such a much better team. I mean, they're
- 15:49Speaker 4: a top-three offensive line. They have top-three weapons. They have
- 15:52Speaker 4: a top-three running back. They have a top-three defense. Like,
- 15:55Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts is just on a better team. I wonder
- 15:57Speaker 4: what Baker could do with that.
- 15:59Speaker 2: All right, go to the north here. Caleb, I'd rather
- 16:01Speaker 2: have him. Jared Goff?
- 16:03Speaker 5: I would rather have Baker.
- 16:05Speaker 2: I think I would, too.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I think Dan Campbell would probably rather have Baker. That's
- 16:10Speaker 1: Dan Campbell's kind of quarterback. It was just going to–
- 16:12Speaker 1: could you– those two together? Those two together would be
- 16:15Speaker 1: just testosterone– exponential yeah vikings another team that would go
- 16:20Speaker 1: very deep if they had a baker mayfield jordan love
- 16:24Speaker 1: i think jordan love is the biggest question mark headed
- 16:26Speaker 1: into the season like people talk about how talented he
- 16:29Speaker 1: is but it never translates into them going deep into
- 16:31Speaker 1: the playoffs i mean it doesn't.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Are we one or two years removed from you saying
- 16:36Speaker 4: jordan love was one of the best quarterbacks in the
- 16:38Speaker 4: nfl i think it was two is it two i
- 16:41Speaker 4: think it's two We're going to be having the same
- 16:43Speaker 4: conversation about Caleb Williams in two years.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I know we are.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I said he's the best quarterback we've ever seen. If
- 16:50Speaker 1: I go to the West, Stafford's better.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Cardinals, no. Purdy, no. Sam Darnold?
- 16:56Speaker 4: Yeah, Baker's better. Stafford is better right now, but would
- 17:01Speaker 4: you want Stafford or Baker for the next three years?
- 17:06Speaker 4: I think the answer is Baker.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Just because you don't know the unknown with Stafford, if
- 17:10Speaker 2: he even wants to play past this year.
- 17:12Speaker 4: As someone pointed out the other day, we're 12 months,
- 17:16Speaker 4: I think it was Bear, Felica, I think we pointed out,
- 17:20Speaker 4: we are 12 months removed from when we were talking about,
- 17:23Speaker 4: is Stafford even healthy enough to play? Is he going
- 17:25Speaker 4: to be the same guy? His back has issues? And
- 17:28Speaker 4: then he put together an MVP season. But those questions
- 17:31Speaker 4: are still there for Stafford. I'm just, all respect to Stafford,
- 17:36Speaker 4: he is better than Baker Mayfield right now. He's been
- 17:39Speaker 4: better than Baker Mayfield, but For the next three years,
- 17:42Speaker 4: give me Baker Mayfield.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Only because you know Baker's going to play for three years, though.
- 17:49Speaker 1: That's a little bit unfair, right? You would take Stafford
- 17:51Speaker 1: for just this year, right?
- 17:53Speaker 5: I would, but.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Stafford's cliff is coming with his back issues and his
- 18:00Speaker 4: age that I would be scared that this is the year.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Okay. All right. Interesting.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out... You're not exactly right in
- 18:12Speaker 1: what it is that you said. Baker would be the
- 18:14Speaker 1: best quarterback. He's the best quarterback in the current division
- 18:17Speaker 1: that he's in. I'm not certain he'd be the best
- 18:20Speaker 1: quarterback in any other division of football.
- 18:22Speaker 2: That's all.
- 18:23Speaker 5: Fair. But he'd be the second best in almost all
- 18:26Speaker 5: of them.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Oh, wait, no, I take it back.
- 18:28Speaker 1: The AFC South, which is the NFC, which is the
- 18:33Speaker 1: NFC South of the AFC.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yes, he's the best quarterback short of the Mason Dixon,
- 18:40Speaker 4: south of the Mason Dixon, apparently.
- 18:42Speaker 1: He's the best quarterback that the South has to offer.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson, Vikings wide receiver.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Next.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Very excited for this.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Justin Jefferson is with us.
- 19:05Speaker 1: He is here with us on behalf of Pepsi for
- 19:08Speaker 1: tailgating deserved Pepsi, and they are giving away free 12
- 19:11Speaker 1: packs of Pepsi Zero Sugar for NFL King Golf Weekend.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Justin's making that sound. What are you doing with Pepsi?
- 19:18Speaker 2: Talk about it. Promote it, my man.
- 19:20Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, you heard it.
- 19:22Speaker 3: You heard it yourself. You said it yourself.
- 19:25Speaker 6: Just, you know, First of all, working with Pepsi and
- 19:27Speaker 6: building that relationship and building that partnership has been great.
- 19:32Speaker 6: And it's continued to be better and better every single year.
- 19:36Speaker 6: So definitely proud to be on the roster and be
- 19:40Speaker 6: a partnership with them. But just like you said, Pepsi
- 19:44Speaker 6: has given away the 12-pack on game days for the
- 19:48Speaker 6: free Pepsi Zeros. I definitely feel like fans and fans
- 19:54Speaker 6: of tailgates definitely should be happy about this one. Getting
- 19:58Speaker 6: the extra Pepsis and being able to add a little
- 20:00Speaker 6: flavor to the game day food, snacks is definitely a must.
- 20:05Speaker 6: So definitely go out and go get your Pepsis because
- 20:08Speaker 6: a free 12-pack On game day, it's a must.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Put us there on your game day, LSU's game day.
- 20:15Speaker 2: What were you doing? What was going through your mind,
- 20:17Speaker 2: your head?
- 20:18Speaker 1: What were you thinking as Lane Kiffin was just laying
- 20:20Speaker 1: one on Clemson?
- 20:22Speaker 6: It definitely was a big time W.
- 20:27Speaker 3: You know, everybody was.
- 20:28Speaker 6: you know skeptical of how how the team was going
- 20:31Speaker 6: to look how it was.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Going to go uh lane being lane uh you know.
- 20:35Speaker 6: It definitely was cool to see though it was definitely
- 20:38Speaker 6: electric uh in death valley as you know everybody would
- 20:42Speaker 6: would know it to be uh but uh just for
- 20:45Speaker 6: them to you know put up 50 points on clemson
- 20:48Speaker 6: is definitely difficult to do on the first game of
- 20:50Speaker 6: the season so i was happy to see that justin.
- 20:54Speaker 4: I was at the game and my biggest takeaway clemson
- 20:56Speaker 4: can't call their stadium death valley more, right?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yep, they can't.
- 20:59Speaker 5: No more.
- 21:00Speaker 4: No more.
- 21:00Speaker 2: They can't.
- 21:02Speaker 3: They can't do it.
- 21:04Speaker 6: They stole our whole flow.
- 21:06Speaker 3: They the Tigers. They Death Valley.
- 21:10Speaker 6: I definitely feel like they need to go ahead and
- 21:12Speaker 6: change that because we the real Death Valley. They was
- 21:15Speaker 6: having trouble in there. They couldn't handle the crowd noise. So,
- 21:19Speaker 6: I mean, we the real Death Valley.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yep.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Taylor says that if you squint, you have to squint
- 21:24Speaker 1: and you look at Sam Leavitt, he looks like Joe Burrow.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Do you agree or disagree?
- 21:29Speaker 6: The way he was running out there, he definitely had
- 21:31Speaker 6: a little image of him, for sure.
- 21:34Speaker 5: And the way he, like, bounced into the end zone, too.
- 21:36Speaker 5: It was like a.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Little swag on it, too.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Nah, he was balling.
- 21:42Speaker 6: I was impressed. I was impressed on the throws. I
- 21:45Speaker 6: was impressed on the runs that he was taking. I mean,
- 21:48Speaker 6: he looked comfortable back there. He looked like he was really,
- 21:51Speaker 6: you know, comfortable and being able to, you know, just
- 21:54Speaker 6: play his game. So, I'm... People saying they're the ones
- 21:58Speaker 6: to look after in the national championships. So we're going
- 22:01Speaker 6: to keep an eye out on that one and see
- 22:04Speaker 6: if they continue to do great things.
- 22:06Speaker 2: But you love having a coach like that who puts
- 22:08Speaker 2: the target on himself. It's like Coach O, right?
- 22:10Speaker 1: You haven't had a coach like this since Coach O
- 22:12Speaker 1: where the target's on him.
- 22:13Speaker 2: It's not on the players, right?
- 22:15Speaker 3: Oh, for sure, for sure.
- 22:16Speaker 6: You know, and then, you know, with the NFL player
- 22:18Speaker 6: speculations and all of that, going on before the games,
- 22:22Speaker 6: you know, he's not really worried about that. And even
- 22:24Speaker 6: during the game, he was like, what if we had
- 22:26Speaker 6: the pro players? And, you know, being able to put
- 22:30Speaker 6: up all of these points, what would we do with
- 22:32Speaker 6: those players on the team? So he doesn't really care
- 22:35Speaker 6: about all the extra noise and the attention. He just
- 22:38Speaker 6: strives with it. He uses it as motivation. He uses
- 22:41Speaker 6: it as, you know, just an extra boost and an
- 22:44Speaker 6: extra spark.
- 22:44Speaker 3: So, I mean, I like it.
- 22:46Speaker 6: I like his energy. I like his enthusiasm. As long
- 22:50Speaker 6: as you win it, that's all that matters.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yep.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Me and the guys were marveling, Justin, because you're one
- 22:54Speaker 1: of the best wide receivers I've ever seen. You're one
- 22:56Speaker 1: of the best wide receivers anyone's ever seen. You're one
- 22:58Speaker 1: of the best wide receivers the NFL has ever seen.
- 23:01Speaker 1: How are you the 308th ranked wide receiver coming out
- 23:05Speaker 1: of high school?
- 23:06Speaker 2: I know you know that. How? How?
- 23:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a great question.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I'm not sure. I'm not sure why or how.
- 23:15Speaker 6: But I'm kind of grateful for it, you know, just because,
- 23:19Speaker 6: you know, they were– The rankings really allowed me to
- 23:24Speaker 6: really use that as motivation. It allowed me to have
- 23:29Speaker 6: a chip on my shoulder and really grind in a
- 23:32Speaker 6: different way. Use that as seeing the five stars, four
- 23:37Speaker 6: stars come in and being on a pedestal. I wanted
- 23:41Speaker 6: to outshine those guys. I wanted to you know, earn
- 23:44Speaker 6: that spot. And I wanted to, you know, be the
- 23:46Speaker 6: best receiver on the team and the country, you know,
- 23:49Speaker 6: in the league, you know, those are all things that
- 23:52Speaker 6: I wanted to accomplish. So it was just really the
- 23:54Speaker 6: work ethic and the hard work that I put in
- 23:57Speaker 6: every single day to, you know, achieve what.
- 23:59Speaker 3: I'm doing now.
- 24:00Speaker 6: And still to this day, still not getting the recognition
- 24:04Speaker 6: and being the number one receiver. So still to this day,
- 24:08Speaker 6: still trying to prove myself. The motivation is still there.
- 24:11Speaker 6: The hard work and, you know, all of that stuff
- 24:15Speaker 6: is still there. So I'm excited for this season, excited to,
- 24:18Speaker 6: you know, show the world that I'm still number one.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Justin, we're going to get to this season in a second.
- 24:24Speaker 4: And to our show, you are the number one wide receiver.
- 24:27Speaker 4: To me and my son, you're the number one wide receiver.
- 24:29Speaker 4: But I have one request. We got to stop with
- 24:31Speaker 4: the gritty, and it's because I'm sick of seeing my 9-
- 24:34Speaker 4: and 10-year-old. All his friends trying to do it, man.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Like, we got to stop it because I can't look
- 24:41Speaker 5: at it anymore.
- 24:41Speaker 2: He ain't stopping, man. Get out of.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Here. Hey, I can't give you no promises, man.
- 24:48Speaker 6: I'm just– I'm just saying, man, once we get there
- 24:52Speaker 6: Sunday and a couple more days in front of our fans,
- 24:57Speaker 6: they're going to be expecting the Gritty to pop out
- 24:59Speaker 6: first touchdown.
- 25:01Speaker 5: I know.
- 25:03Speaker 6: And I didn't hit it last year.
- 25:05Speaker 3: I only hit it one time last year.
- 25:06Speaker 5: That's right.
- 25:07Speaker 6: I'm sorry, but they're going to be gritty in the
- 25:09Speaker 6: house Sunday afternoon.
- 25:13Speaker 2: This is a tricky question. I don't mean to put
- 25:15Speaker 2: you in a bad spot.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I'm just wondering, Kyler Murray, is he the most talented
- 25:18Speaker 1: quarterback you've played with in the NFL?
- 25:22Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 25:25Speaker 6: Just his arm talent, being able to throw it, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 6: the different throws that he has made that I have
- 25:31Speaker 6: seen has been tremendous and really cool to see and
- 25:35Speaker 6: really a shocker. You know, I've always known him as
- 25:38Speaker 6: a great athlete. Obviously, he played baseball and, you know,
- 25:42Speaker 6: he definitely could have strived in that as well. So,
- 25:46Speaker 6: you know, but seeing his arm talent in person, everybody
- 25:49Speaker 6: knows what he does with the ball in his hands,
- 25:51Speaker 6: running the ball and extending it.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Extending the play.
- 25:55Speaker 6: But actually seeing him stand in the pocket and making
- 25:58Speaker 6: these throws, it was really very surprising and very cool
- 26:04Speaker 6: and exciting to see. So I'm excited for him to
- 26:08Speaker 6: showcase that with this new offense, with the weapons that
- 26:11Speaker 6: he has around him. So it's going to be a
- 26:16Speaker 6: joy to see.
- 26:18Speaker 1: If there's an LSU fan or a player or just
- 26:20Speaker 1: someone in the media who says, Hey, this LSU team
- 26:23Speaker 1: after one game is better than the team that won
- 26:26Speaker 1: the national championship with coach.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 26:29Speaker 7: Right.
- 26:30Speaker 2: They can't say that.
- 26:30Speaker 5: No one should say that.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:31Speaker 3: That's absurd.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:34Speaker 3: We would have, we would have put up 70 on,
- 26:36Speaker 3: on a team.
- 26:37Speaker 6: Like we were, we would have put up 80.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Like that's, that's, that's no brainer. I mean, they didn't,
- 26:45Speaker 3: they're a good team.
- 26:47Speaker 6: They're definitely a good team and definitely somebody that, you know,
- 26:50Speaker 6: they need, people need to watch out for. But nah, they, nah, nobody's,
- 26:56Speaker 6: nobody's messing with the team that we had.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Right. Maybe, maybe, maybe those Miami teams, just maybe, like
- 27:01Speaker 2: Ed Reed, those.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Guys, maybe. Just maybe.
- 27:05Speaker 3: They had some guys on there.
- 27:07Speaker 6: So that's the only team that you can, you know, argue,
- 27:11Speaker 6: argue with.
- 27:12Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, It's a conversation.
- 27:15Speaker 6: That's something that can never be proven, never can be
- 27:19Speaker 6: matched up with.
- 27:21Speaker 3: With this AI, who knows? With AI, we can try
- 27:25Speaker 3: to see a version of what it would be like.
- 27:28Speaker 6: But other than that, I mean, it's just opinions and conversation.
- 27:33Speaker 6: But two of the greatest teams, Miami and us, I mean,
- 27:36Speaker 6: other than that, nobody's messing with us, man.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 27:41Speaker 1: One more time, we appreciate you doing this, man.
- 27:42Speaker 2: You're great. Thank you for the time.
- 27:45Speaker 5: Appreciate that.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Let's promote Pepsi one more time here on the way out.
- 27:48Speaker 2: What are you doing?
- 27:49Speaker 3: No, of course, the tailgate. You definitely got to get
- 27:52Speaker 3: your Pepsis.
- 27:54Speaker 6: With your burgers, your hot dogs, your chips with salsa.
- 27:57Speaker 6: You got to have the Pepsi on the side to
- 27:59Speaker 6: go with it. So I appreciate you all the time.
- 28:01Speaker 6: Appreciate Pepsi and the partnership.
- 28:04Speaker 2: All love. All right, man. You're great. Good luck to
- 28:07Speaker 2: you this season, and good luck to LSU, too.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Yes, sir.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Although they don't need it. They have NFL players coming.
- 28:14Speaker 5: All right.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Justin, thank you so much.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Good luck, man.
- 28:18Speaker 2: It's a pleasure watching you. All right.
