- 0:00I've developed a new concept called the Oprah to TikTok pipeline, because I think
- 0:06Oprah Oprah destroyed philosophy. It was not postmodern theory. It was Oprah single
- 0:15handedly. She created doctor phil and the Law of Attraction, Lady and Deepak
- 0:22Chopra and all this shit is now like fifty percent of TikTok as well.
- 0:28So at one time philosophy's turf was self help, and no philosopher wants to
- 0:36admit that because they think they're talking about the the transcendental, deeper questions or
- 0:43transcendental or transcendent ideas. But that's just way too much work. So now
- 0:48we have, you know, the Oprah spinoffs. I mean, what about
- 0:53Whitehead saying something like, you know, we don't ever disprove older philosophy,
- 1:00Like some new sort of style of philosophy comes along and just sort of displaces
- 1:04the old style. There's no you know, questions are important during certain periods
- 1:11of history, and then they go away and they're not important anymore. It's
- 1:14not like we've disproven the importance of such questions or answered those questions even satisfactorily.
- 1:21They just go away and new questions come around. I mean, that's
- 1:25a very loose paraphrase. But you'll say something like that, what do you
- 1:29guys know what the law of attraction is? No? I don't think so
- 1:33is that like a is that like a lorenz a tractor type situation? Or
- 1:37is that something different? It's less than that. It's like when you manifest
- 1:42something in your mind then like a vision board, Yeah, a vision board.
- 1:47If if you manifest it, then you can cause it to come into
- 1:49being. Ah, that's pretty yeah, that's that's pretty wacky, which is
- 1:56fifty percent of TikTok visual As far as I'm aware, visualizer's success before you
- 2:01aren't successful. But I think the death of philosophy probably probably Heidiger was the
- 2:08last philosopher. I think I would go to bat for that. But like
- 2:13the popularity of Sart versus versus, Like, there's no philosopher that anyone knows
- 2:21today other than maybe Jijiak. But the popularity of Sart was like all of
- 2:25French society wanted to know what he thought about everything because he kind of turned
- 2:31Heidiger into a self help book and then wrote some depressing plays that expressed the
- 2:37French post war depressive demeanor, the nausea. But oprah ideology is the opposite
- 2:45of nausea. It's like the self assuredness and oprah one. So if you're
- 2:50saying that Whitehead is not comparing or you can't compare epochs one to another,
- 2:58then we are in the Oprah epoch of philosophy. Yeah, our concerns just
- 3:02aren't the same. Yeah, spirit it's all spirituality, but it's it's Veldtgeist.
- 3:08In the California version of Veldtgeist, there was a lot of contingency around
- 3:14what questions are important too, and a lot of those old ones come back
- 3:17and become more important, Like you know, Heidegger, did you know clear
- 3:23away a lot of a lot of space for Aristotle to be reinterpreted, Like
- 3:29I just downloaded a bunch of those Joe Sachs translations of Aristotle, which are
- 3:36supposed to get back to the ancient Greek and get rid of the sort of
- 3:39latinate translations that have came around in the interceding millennia and get back to the
- 3:46original sort of and and then try to sort of see what what was Aristotle
- 3:50like sort of saying in his own language. Whether or not it makes sense
- 3:53to us is another question, But I don't know. Some of those things
- 3:57do come back as a maybe unex expected result of reviving some older philosopher,
- 4:04or an unexpected consequence of some brilliant philosopher who is trying to reawaken the question
- 4:12of being and just ended up promoting more translations of Aristotle to be done differently,
- 4:16there's a career. I'm a little stuck on, like what you just
- 4:19said, their pills about, like Heidiger being the last philosopher. What do
- 4:25you? What do you? What is philosophy to you? Philosophy is making
- 4:29up cosmic sounding names for stuff, okay that you can never observe from any
- 4:33other position, and then arguing with other people about the names that you made.
- 4:39Well, maybe you're no, it's not the forums, it's the substances.
- 4:43So maybe I was too hard on the metamodernism guy, because even if
- 4:46you're even if you're bad at making up words, this is what philosophy has
- 4:49been since. I think, I think what you're talking about. I think
- 4:54what you're talking about there is metaphysics, not philosophy. Rit large, Yeah,
- 5:00there's the end of metaphysics. That's a kind of Nietzschean provoked Heidegery and
- 5:04fulfilled dairy da continued kind of thing, right, And I mentioned before it
- 5:12has a lot of parallels with the end of history, because if we're saying
- 5:15that history ends with the fall of communism in the nineties early nineties, then
- 5:20it's like, okay, then what was history if it's something that has now
- 5:24ended. What was philosophy if it is something that has now ended.
