- 0:40what Saturday means.
- 0:41We go from Saturday, we roll all the

- 0:52ten, a hundred, or maybe even more, I
- 0:54want to say welcome and thank you, but
- 0:56I also want to say those important words,
- 0:57welcome back.
- 1:00Yes, welcome back.
- 1:01It is so great to be with you

- 1:27All right.
- 1:28So hello everyone once again, and welcome to
- 1:31the ever-popular inspirations for your live show.
- 1:34I'm your host, John C.
- 1:36Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 1:40podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, passionate lifelong learner,
- 1:44graduate student at Montclair State University, and so
- 1:46grateful now to be a published author.
- 1:49Welcome everyone to season five, this is show
- 1:51number 41.
- 1:53Today is episode number one, because it's a
- 1:55Saturday, and our new weekly master topic is
- 1:57Momentum Changes Everything.
- 2:00This week is about creating forward motion before
- 2:04we feel completely ready.
- 2:06We're going to confront hesitation, building confidence through
- 2:11small wins, stop waiting for the perfect conditions,
- 2:14and keep moving through difficult days.
- 2:16Recover when momentum breaks, right, and ultimately turn
- 2:21progress into something consistent.
- 2:23Today is Saturday, and as I said, this
- 2:25is episode one, it is series five, show
- 2:29number 41, and we're starting with today.
- 2:33Start before you feel ready.
- 2:34This is what happens.
- 2:36So, have you ever told yourself, I'll start
- 2:39when I'm ready, right?
- 2:40Here's the problem.
- 2:42What if readiness isn't something you wait for?
- 2:45What if readiness is something you build by
- 2:47beginning?
- 2:48So let's get into our 30 points, shall
- 2:51we?
- 2:52Number one, readiness often arrives after you begin.
- 2:57We sometimes imagine that confidence, clarity, and certainty
- 3:01are supposed to arrive first, but many times
- 3:05they arrive because you started, okay?
- 3:09Movement teaches you what standing still cannot.
- 3:13Number two, guys, starting creates information thinking cannot
- 3:18give you.
- 3:19You can analyze to your blue in the
- 3:21face something repeatedly, but eventually action produces the
- 3:25real data.
- 3:27You discover what works, what doesn't, and what
- 3:30needs to change.
- 3:31Your first step does not need to be
- 3:33impressive.
- 3:34Your first step has one goal, move you
- 3:39forward.
- 3:40It doesn't have to amaze everybody.
- 3:43It simply has to exist.
- 3:44It doesn't have to be pretty or perfect.
- 3:47Number four, action turns uncertainty into experience.
- 3:51Before you act, you have questions.
- 3:54After you act, you have experiences.
- 3:57Experiences give us something real to evaluate.
- 4:00Number five, waiting can make small challenges feel
- 4:03enormous.
- 4:04The longer something stays untouched, the larger it
- 4:08can become inside your mind.
- 4:11Sometimes beginning reveals that the mountain was actually
- 4:15a hill.
- 4:16Number six, beginning changes your relationship with fear.
- 4:21Fear can feel enormous while you're standing still.
- 4:25Once you're moving, your attention begins shifting from
- 4:28what might happen to what you're actually doing.
- 4:31Number seven, movement gives your mind something real
- 4:35to work with.
- 4:37Your brain can create endless hypothetical situations.
- 4:42Action replaces some of those hypothetical and gives
- 4:46us facts to anchor them to.
- 4:49Number eight, you can improve something that already
- 4:52exists.
- 4:53Most people think if it exists, you can't
- 4:54change it.
- 4:55Sure, you can.
- 4:55You absolutely can change it.
- 4:56You can actually make it better.
- 5:00I think that's an important piece.
- 5:01You can actually make it better.
- 5:03A blank page is difficult to improve.
- 5:05Once something exists, you can edit it, strengthen
- 5:09it, refine it, and build upon it.
- 5:13Number nine, give yourself permission to start imperfectly.
- 5:18Perfection is a terrible admission requirement for beginning.
- 5:22Let version one be version one.
- 5:27There can always be a version two, a
- 5:281A, a 2A, a 2B, but you got
- 5:30to start.
- 5:31If you don't start somewhere, you can't change
- 5:33something that hasn't been started.
- 5:35Number 10, confidence often follows action instead of
- 5:39proceeding it.
- 5:40We think confidence says now you're ready to
- 5:42act.
- 5:44Sometimes action says now you have a reason
- 5:47to become confident.
- 5:49Number 11, one complete step can change your
- 5:53entire mood.
- 5:55Think about something you've been putting off.
- 5:58Completing even one part of it can create
- 6:01relief, energy, and a sense that you're moving
- 6:04again and again.
- 6:06Number 12, starting reveals what actually needs improvement.
- 6:11Before starting, you may worry about 10 different
- 6:13challenges or problems.
- 6:15Once you begin, you might discover that only
- 6:18two of them actually matter to you.
- 6:21Yeah, actually matter to you, and that's important.
- 6:26Stop rehearsing possibilities and create one, right?
- 6:29Number 13, you can imagine hundreds of possible
- 6:33outcomes.
- 6:34At some point, choose one direction and create
- 6:36something real.
- 6:38Number 14, replace am I ready with what
- 6:43can I do now?
- 6:46That question changes everything.
- 6:48Instead of evaluating whether you feel prepared for
- 6:51the entire journey, identify the next action available
- 6:54to you.
- 6:56Number 15, make the first action ridiculously achievable.
- 7:01Reduce the barriers.
- 7:03Open a document, write the first paragraph, walk
- 7:07for five minutes, make one call, send one
- 7:12email, organize one thing, make beginning easy enough
- 7:14that resistance has very little room to argue
- 7:18and get in there.
- 7:19Number 16, guys, use curiosity instead of pressure.
- 7:23Instead of saying, I have to succeed, try
- 7:26asking, what happens if I try this?
- 7:29And you might be pleasantly surprised about how
- 7:33your life sort of molds into that new
- 7:36perspective.
- 7:38I think that's an important piece that a
- 7:40lot of people, like, they just don't get
- 7:44it, right?
- 7:45They don't get that, and I think that's
- 7:47an important piece for a lot of us
- 7:49to understand, right?
- 7:52They really don't understand what that actually means,
- 7:54but it means something pretty big, okay?
- 7:57It means something pretty big.
- 7:59So curiosity creates room to learn.
- 8:02Number 17, you do not need the entire
- 8:05map to take one step.
- 8:07You need enough information for the next responsible
- 8:09move.
- 8:10Once you arrive there, you have new perspective
- 8:14on which to choose.
- 8:15Again, beginning creates possibilities.
- 8:19You cannot see from the sidelines.
- 8:22Movement introduces you to people, information, opportunities.
- 8:27Challenges and ideas that you may never encounter
- 8:31while you're waiting.
- 8:33So get started.
- 8:34Number 19, your first attempt is allowed to
- 8:37teach you.
- 8:38Everybody thinks that, you know, when you start
- 8:39something, you've got to be an expert.
- 8:40I got news for you guys.
- 8:42When you start something, no one's an expert,
- 8:44okay?
- 8:45So I think that's an important thing for
- 8:47a lot of us to realize, right?
- 8:50We have to realize what that means, okay?
- 8:53Number 20, your first attempt doesn't have to
- 8:56prove how talented you are.
- 8:59Let it teach you something humbly.
- 9:02Number 20, progress becomes easier when something is
- 9:06already moving.
- 9:07Starting can require enormous emotional energy.
- 9:12Once movement exists, continuing can feel much easier.
- 9:17That's momentum.
- 9:20I think it's something a lot of people
- 9:21shy away from because they're like, well, I'm
- 9:23not doing it right or I'm not at
- 9:25the top.
- 9:26Nobody started at the top, right?
- 9:28You have to do something first and then,
- 9:31you know, share from there.
- 9:32I think that's the whole thing that a
- 9:33lot of people miss is that nobody starts
- 9:35as an expert.
- 9:37Nobody starts as an expert.
- 9:38That's important, guys.
- 9:39No one starts as an expert.
- 9:41So number 21, action interrupts overthinking.
- 9:47Overthinking feeds on endless possibilities.
- 9:50Action narrows the conversation.
- 9:51Now you have something concrete to respond to.
- 9:57Yeah.
- 9:58Number 22, a five-minute start can become
- 10:01an hour of progress.
- 10:03Tell yourself you'll give something five focus minutes.
- 10:09Just five focus minutes, nothing else, guys, okay?
- 10:13Number 22, tell yourself you'll give something five
- 10:17focus minutes and actually stick to it, all
- 10:19right?
- 10:19Five focus minutes, it's manageable.
- 10:22And sometimes once you cross the starting line,
- 10:25you keep moving and that's okay, but just
- 10:28agree to five minutes.
- 10:29If it goes over, it goes over, but
- 10:30at least commit to five minutes.
- 10:32Number 23, stop requiring certainty before you choose
- 10:37to participate.
- 10:38Certainty is rare when you're doing something meaningful
- 10:41or unfamiliar.
- 10:42You can make thoughtful decisions without knowing every
- 10:45outcome.
- 10:46Number 24, learn while moving instead of waiting
- 10:50to know everything.
- 10:53Education matters, guys.
- 10:55Preparation matters.
- 10:56Number 24, but eventually learning and doing need
- 11:01to come head to head at some point.
- 11:04Some lessons are available only through participation.
- 11:08Yeah.
- 11:10Number 25, give yourself something tangible to improve
- 11:15tomorrow.
- 11:16Create something today, a page, a plan, a
- 11:21conversation, a workout, a note, a proposal, a
- 11:26first attempt, an email, right?
- 11:31Tomorrow, you won't be starting from zero.
- 11:36You'll have something to build upon.
- 11:39Every experienced person once had a first attempt.
- 11:42The person you admire for making something look
- 11:45effortless once didn't know how to do it
- 11:48either.
- 11:51Experiences accumulated beginnings.
- 11:52I think that's an important thing.
- 11:54And once we know the experience comes from
- 11:57those beginnings, like, wait a minute, now I
- 11:59understand.
- 11:59Now I see why this is working.
- 12:00Now I see why it's not working, right?
- 12:03We have to learn from our own mistakes
- 12:05and we have to not do them again,
- 12:10right?
- 12:11Number 27, starting today gives tomorrow something to
- 12:15build upon.
- 12:16So today's small action can become tomorrow's foundation.
- 12:20Do that repeatedly and suddenly you're not talking
- 12:22about an isolated action anymore.
- 12:25You're building momentum, what our week is about.
- 12:29Number 28, make movement more important than the
- 12:33appearance.
- 12:34So many people I know, they worry about
- 12:36the facade, right?
- 12:37Sometimes we're afraid of looking inexperienced, but looking
- 12:41polished isn't the goal when you're learning, right?
- 12:44You don't know how to do it.
- 12:46You don't have any idea.
- 12:47So you're learning, right?
- 12:49What happens when a new driver's on the
- 12:51road from school?
- 12:53They have a sign that says, student driver.
- 12:57Usually other people won't get annoyed and they'll
- 12:59actually hope maybe give them a little bit
- 13:00of leeway because they're just starting.
- 13:04Allow yourself to be a beginner long enough
- 13:06to become experienced.
- 13:08I think too many people wanna skip past
- 13:10beginner stage and they just don't wanna do
- 13:13anything, okay?
- 13:14That's an important piece.
- 13:17Your future can change because of one decision
- 13:20made today.
- 13:21I'm not saying every decision will transform your
- 13:24life overnight.
- 13:26I'm saying one decision can change your direction.
- 13:30And a direction is important, especially when it's
- 13:33a different one.
- 13:35Maintaining it long enough can take you somewhere
- 13:37completely different than where you've been going.
- 13:40And it's not that where you've been going
- 13:41is bad, but you wanna improve.
- 13:43You wanna become better, guys.
- 13:45So the only way to become better is
- 13:47to change your course or direction, even a
- 13:48little bit.
- 13:49Einstein said something a while ago, and that's
- 13:52a very important thing.
- 13:53You know what he said?
- 13:54He said that doing the same thing over
- 13:57and over again and expecting different results, that
- 14:00ladies and gentlemen, that is insanity.
- 14:05That's insanity.
- 14:06So the question is, why do people do
- 14:08it?
- 14:09I think they get stuck in a rut
- 14:11and they think, oh my gosh, this is
- 14:13where I'm going.
- 14:14But then they don't suddenly know how to
- 14:16get out of that rut.
- 14:17I think that becomes a very hard thing
- 14:21for some people, right?
- 14:23They just don't know.
- 14:25They just don't know.
- 14:27And then they get frustrated because they can't
- 14:29move forward.
- 14:32Number 30, guys, begin before confidence arrives and
- 14:35let action build it.
- 14:38And obviously, you know, I'm not experienced enough
- 14:40yet.
- 14:40I'm not experienced enough yet, but I am
- 14:43getting there.
- 14:47Getting there, yes.
- 14:49I am getting there.
- 14:53That's an important thing, guys.
- 14:56I'm getting there every single day.
- 14:59Not just today, but I am literally getting
- 15:03there every day.
- 15:04And you know, that's a one-step thing.
- 15:06It doesn't happen overnight, guys.
- 15:08No.
- 15:10It's something that we take, let's say, a
- 15:13progression on, and we decide that this is
- 15:15where we're going.
- 15:17We decide that this is where we're putting
- 15:19our whole life, right?
- 15:23We decide that.
- 15:24And then when we decide that, it's like,
- 15:25okay, I'm on this path.
- 15:27I'm taking this journey.
- 15:28No matter what, this is what I'm doing.
- 15:30I'm doing this every single day of my
- 15:32life, okay?
- 15:33Until I need a change.
- 15:35But some people, they expect immediate change like
- 15:38tomorrow.
- 15:40They do.
- 15:42I think that can be hard for a
- 15:44lot of people because they're like, oh my
- 15:46gosh, like what am I supposed to do?
- 15:50What am I supposed to do?
- 15:51Why am I supposed to do it?
- 15:54Right?
- 15:54I think that's important.
- 15:58So hopefully, that'll mean something to you.
- 16:06I mean, hopefully.
- 16:07I'm not saying to do something overnight.
- 16:19Does that make sense?
- 16:28Hopefully, you'll see a realization with this.
- 16:32And with the realization, you say, wait a
- 16:33minute.
- 16:34You know what?
- 16:34I need to change who I am.
- 16:36I need to change my character.
- 16:40Not from the public level because character comes
- 16:44privately, right?
- 16:47Publicly, character translates into reputation.
- 16:50That's what it translates into.
- 16:53And I think that's an important piece that
- 16:55many people, well, they just forget it.
- 16:58They think that this doesn't really matter, but
- 17:00the truth of the matter, it does matter.
- 17:03What you do in private is your character.
- 17:07What people see it as, well, that becomes
- 17:10your reputation.
- 17:14So as I said, begin before.
- 17:27So that's the thing, you know?
- 17:34Does that make sense to you?
- 17:46Hopefully, that means something to you.
- 17:48If it doesn't, then maybe you've gotta sit
- 17:51back and think.
- 17:52That's where everything comes together, guys.
- 17:54You don't have to wait until you wake
- 17:56up feeling fearless.
- 17:57You don't need perfect confidence.
- 17:59You don't need every answer.
- 18:01You need enough courage for the next step.
- 18:03And that is why our weekly master topic
- 18:06is this.
- 18:07Momentum changes everything.
- 18:10Momentum doesn't begin when everything becomes easy.
- 18:13Sorry, guys.
- 18:14Momentum begins when something finally moves.
- 18:18Think about one thing you've been waiting to
- 18:20start.
- 18:21Maybe you've been waiting for confidence.
- 18:23Maybe you've been waiting for more information.
- 18:25Maybe you want perfect timing.
- 18:27Maybe you've convinced yourself that you'll begin when
- 18:29life settles down.
- 18:32Ask yourself one question from me today.
- 18:36What can I do now?
- 18:40Not everything, but you can do one thing,
- 18:43even if it's a small thing.
- 18:45What's the smallest meaningful action or step that
- 18:47you can take, even if it's a micro
- 18:49step?
- 18:50Do it.
- 18:51Then notice what happens.
- 18:53You know a little more than you knew
- 18:56before.
- 18:57You have a little more experience than you
- 18:59had before.
- 19:01You have a little more experience than you
- 19:03had before, and that hopefully pushes you.
- 19:05You've created something that can be improved.
- 19:08And most importantly, you're no longer standing exactly
- 19:11where you were.
- 19:13That's how momentum begins.
- 19:15Not necessarily with a giant breakthrough.
- 19:19Sometimes it begins with five minutes.
- 19:22Maybe it's one call.
- 19:24Maybe it's one paragraph.
- 19:26Maybe it's one conversation.
- 19:27Maybe it's one decision.
- 19:30It's one step or one micro step or
- 19:33one baby step.
- 19:34Then you take another and another, right?
- 19:36So let's think about walking for a moment,
- 19:39right?
- 19:39Before you can walk a journey of a
- 19:42thousand miles, you're gonna do that, or even
- 19:4410 miles or five miles, you've gotta take
- 19:46the first step, right?
- 19:48If you're doing a relaxation technique, like a
- 19:51breathing technique, like I teach in my book,
- 19:53you've gotta do it the first time or
- 19:55the second time.
- 19:56And then it becomes easier.
- 19:57So you take the first step, you take
- 19:59the second step, third step, oh, I get
- 20:02the pattern, I get it.
- 20:03So now I keep repeating, I keep repeating,
- 20:04I keep repeating.
- 20:06It's important, guys.
- 20:09So that's the key.
- 20:12That is the key.
- 20:15And so I think when we start to
- 20:17realize what this is about, it'll hopefully change
- 20:21you, right?
- 20:24But I get that some people are scared
- 20:27about this.
- 20:27They're scared about making a mistake.
- 20:32Soon the person who was waiting to feel
- 20:33ready is becoming the person who is learning
- 20:35through action, right?
- 20:41Choose one thing you've been postponing because you
- 20:43haven't felt completely ready yet.
- 20:45Give it five focused minutes, just five minutes.
- 20:48No demand for perfection, right?
- 20:51No demand for an incredible result, just movement.
- 20:56When those five minutes are finished, you can
- 20:58decide what comes next because you may discover
- 21:01something important.
- 21:03Starting was the part that required the most
- 21:05energy.
- 21:07I think sometimes when we notice the momentum,
- 21:11we're like, yeah, it's going, it's okay.
- 21:13People say it's getting legs, right?
- 21:15It's growing.
- 21:16People say this all the time, but what's
- 21:19really happening?
- 21:20What's happening is we're changing, we're morphing.
- 21:27I think that's something that a lot of
- 21:30people, like they just don't get it for
- 21:33whatever reason.
- 21:34Not because they don't wanna get it, but
- 21:38because they are completely clueless.
- 21:43They're clueless.
- 21:45They're on a path.
- 21:48Maybe they picked the wrong path and they
- 21:50don't necessarily know how to change the path
- 21:51or how to pivot the path.
- 21:54Sometimes it's not getting off the path entirely.
- 21:57It's just pivoting, taking a slightly different turn.
- 22:04And everybody expects everything to be in large
- 22:08increments.
- 22:08I remember doing a project when I was
- 22:11graduating originally as an undergraduate.
- 22:17We're doing a work for a large company
- 22:19that manufactures lots of blades, small blades.
- 22:24And so we're with our professor and the
- 22:27project was to take this machine that was
- 22:29doing blades and people had to change the
- 22:33knobs basically or the dials to calibrate how
- 22:37the CNC machine was working.
- 22:39Now, this CNC machine was not a very
- 22:43high end.
- 22:44It was more just a cutting machine.
- 22:46It didn't, we added the CNC part ourself
- 22:48by automating the dials so they could micro
- 22:53turn.
- 22:54Little tiny pivots could make the difference to
- 22:56whether it chiseled out an inch or half
- 23:01an inch or two inches.
- 23:02Just a tiny little pivot on that wheel
- 23:05made a huge difference.
- 23:06And one, I believe it was every thousand
- 23:09blades we'd have to make a slight micro
- 23:11adjustment.
- 23:12So there might be a blade or two
- 23:13wasted, no big deal.
- 23:16That's key guys.
- 23:18Ladies and gentlemen, you've got to start, okay?
- 23:22And starting is the part that's the hardest
- 23:24for a lot of people, right?
- 23:27When you discover something important, don't waste it,
- 23:30apply yourself.
- 23:33Ladies and gentlemen, I'm John C.
- 23:36Morley and this has been another powerful, amazing
- 23:39episode of the Inspirations for Your Life Show.
- 23:42I thank you so much for choosing to
- 23:44join me today, Saturday, October 3rd, 2026.
- 23:51As we begin this brand new show master
- 23:56topic in our season five, show 41, momentum
- 24:00changes everything.
- 24:02I don't care whether we're talking about studying,
- 24:04whether we're talking about healthy habits, right?
- 24:08Losing weight, relationships, momentum changes everything.
- 24:14I know that sounds like something very confusing
- 24:17but the truth of the matter is when
- 24:19you do it, it's like, wait a minute,
- 24:21I suddenly get it.
- 24:25I suddenly get it.
- 24:26And I think that's something again that a
- 24:28lot of people just don't get.
- 24:32And the reason is they're like, oh my
- 24:34gosh, what am I supposed to do now?
- 24:36How do I handle this?
- 24:43That's hard for a lot of people, guys,
- 24:46because they're trying to strive for perfection but
- 24:51there's nothing perfect about starting.
- 24:54Starting is messy.
- 24:56You know, a lot of people sometimes refer
- 24:58to the middle as the messy middle but
- 25:00I gotta tell you the beginning is messy
- 25:02too.
- 25:03Sometimes more messy than the middle because you
- 25:07just keep dropping things and you're clumsy and
- 25:09you just don't know where to go.
- 25:10And I think if we can get started,
- 25:16if we can start sharing, you know, the
- 25:19things that work in our lives, the wins,
- 25:22and then from there, we move on and
- 25:24we decide, wait a minute, I'm doing the
- 25:27same thing over and over again.
- 25:28I'm doing what Einstein said.
- 25:30I'm being insane.
- 25:32Do the same thing over and over again.
- 25:33I'm expecting different results.
- 25:34That's never gonna happen.
- 25:38You gotta change something.
- 25:39You gotta change the input to get a
- 25:41different output, okay?
- 25:44If you put the same things in, if
- 25:47I put two in, another two in, and
- 25:49the operation I put in is add, I'm
- 25:53always gonna get four.
- 25:56Now, if I put multiplication in for that
- 26:00set, two times two, I'm gonna get four
- 26:02as well.
- 26:05If I divide, I'm gonna get a different
- 26:06answer.
- 26:07Two divided by two, one.
- 26:12So we've gotta be understanding of the choices
- 26:15we're making and we gotta see how they're
- 26:17filtering down to our life.
- 26:20That's probably one of the biggest things that
- 26:21I can tell you right this very, very
- 26:24moment.
- 26:26Remember, ladies and gentlemen, readiness doesn't always come
- 26:30knocking before you begin.
- 26:33So don't be upset if it doesn't find
- 26:35you right away.
- 26:37Sometimes you have to move first.
- 26:39Start imperfectly.
- 26:41Learn while you're moving, while you're adjusting, while
- 26:44you're adapting.
- 26:46I know that's not always comfortable, but I've
- 26:48said that success starts to form where uncomfortable
- 26:53territory begins.
- 26:55Sometimes you have to move first.
- 26:58You may not necessarily like that.
- 27:00Start imperfectly.
- 27:01Learn while you're moving.
- 27:02Build experience and create evidence.
- 27:06The evidence helps our mind, but really what
- 27:09it does is it also jolts our dopamine,
- 27:12which gets us to move almost magically.
- 27:16It's a chemical reaction in our brain and
- 27:18bodies.
- 27:20So create the evidence.
- 27:21That'll make life easier for you to move
- 27:24forward.
- 27:25And ladies and gentlemen, allow action to build
- 27:28the confidence you are waiting to feel.
- 27:30You might say, gee, I'm gonna wait till
- 27:33I feel it.
- 27:34No, do it anyway.
- 27:38Allow action to build the confidence you are
- 27:40waiting to feel.
- 27:42That's important.
- 27:44Your next chapter doesn't need a perfect beginning,
- 27:46guys.
- 27:47It needs a beginning.
- 27:49Keep moving, keep learning, keep growing.
- 27:52And you know what, ladies and gentlemen, I'm
- 27:53gonna see you on another show or episode
- 27:55real soon.
- 27:56And yes, do check out BelieveAndAchieve.com.
- 27:59Let's keep momentum building, and let's start it
- 28:01right now if you don't have it going.
- 28:03Take care, have a good one, ladies and
- 28:05gentlemen.
- 28:05Take care, have a good one, ladies and
- 28:06gentlemen.
