- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Bill's mafia.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's going on.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Happy Wednesday to you.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Happy Ravens.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: Game day Sunday middle of the week Wednesday.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of news and notes we got from not just from Sean McDermott's press conference today, but obviously some news from Dianne Dawkins in his contract situation, for being restructured.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: We have some bills uniform updates if you're into that type of thing for Sunday.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: So got a lot of stuff to cover Just wanted to jump on here real quick.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Not going to take up a ton of time.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Just want to get all of the news and notes out that We got and some some good talking points from Sean McDermott from today's press conference.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of things that I think that a lot of bills fans have had questions about as far as players injury concerns who's playing Sunday things like that.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I have a laundry list
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: of notes from all of the bills, beat reporters, and obviously just watching Sean McDermott's press conference putting my own notes together and things like that.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: So the first thing that came out this morning, and I think this is something
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: that has been in the works for a while.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's already been done.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think the bill just chose to announce it.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: I was live yesterday with John Helmkamp and we were talking about the Dion Dawkins Restructure and it has to be a had to have been a formality at that point yesterday when we talked about it.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the team
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the sentiments were that maybe the team was a little backlogged on just releasing information due to the long weekend and things like that, but deandalkins restructured his contract.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of bills content creators media alike.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: We all knew that that was.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: That was coming, right, because Deon's contract restructure would free up anywhere between eight and nine million dollars and that's something the bills absolutely had to have they signed as you saw on hard knocks last night, they signed all their practice quad 16 players.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, the bills needed some money, right, they needed to have some money, the salary cap is real, you know, there there is a number that the bills need to get under to operate throughout the season and freeing up.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Around $8 million from what's being reported, frees up good money for the bills.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Now it makes the bills positive for the salary cap, but they still don't have a lot of operating room.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Last I checked if you look at either over the cap or if you look at spot track or whatever you like to get your contract information, has the bills anywhere between 1.4 and 1.6 million positive for the salary cap.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see if anything else is going to come down the pipe.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: But as of right now, the bills are going to be operating with not a lot of money.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: So all those out there like myself, who are clamoring to bring in some safety help, like a jibrile peppers or Justin Simmons, I just don't know if that's going to happen.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Unless something else works out with bills contracts and there's another restructure coming.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: I know there's some candidates like a Dawson Knox possibly freeing up a couple million dollars.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we, we haven't heard anything about a counter McGuvern extension, which might free up a little bit more of this year, David Edwards extension, which might free up a little bit, not much, but a little bit this year.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see what happens, you know, obviously there's a game in four days, so not a lot of time to get that done, but the bills could get that done in season as well.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I'm just going live on X today in YouTube or X in Facebook.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: If you guys have comments, drop the comments.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: If you guys want to share this, please repost this and share it.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: And also like this video.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you guys like to get these daily updates, especially now that the season is actually four days away.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to be getting more press conferences with not just Head Coach Schummit.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to be getting, obviously players will speak after practices and things like that.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: Let's start right at the top.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Benford.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of us were concerned seeing that he did not participate in practice, most of if not all of last week.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: and it was a little concerning the article that came out with Tyler Dunne talking about that concussion situation from the postseason from last year.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: This seems to be a little bit different.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think the bills are ultimately resting him now.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: It was described as a lower leg injury from Sean McDermott and one asked if he's going to play on Sunday.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: McDermott's response was
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: the bill's number one corner to start the season against the dynamic passing quarterback and Omar Jackson.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now I know the Ravens are run heavy.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's week one and I know not to be too overly concerned with a week one game, but when you're playing a conference rival, when you're playing a team like the Ravens who could be contending for that number one
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Just keep an eye on that.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, here at Pilten Buffalo, we'll keep you posted on what's going on with Christian Benford.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: He also spoke on Tridavius White.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: He did not practice or did not plan to practice today, but also he did not rule him out for week one.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a good sign there, right?
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of us were concerned before the bills.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: finalized their 53 man roster that Trudevius White might be a guy that could go on the beginning season IR.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously they chose Maxwell Harrison.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, we'll see.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: He talked a little bit about the Wayne Carter.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously he's out for the foreseeable future with his ACL tear.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: So he's going to be out for obviously the whole season.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be interesting to see where they place him.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Season
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: He did speak about Gabe Davis.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: And talking about Gabe Davis, and I think a lot of fans were questioning if he was healthy number one, if he was going to just basically stay on the practice squad for the start of the season all the way through.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: If this was just a move to get him out of the practice squad, to get him back into the building, to get him more familiar with Joe Brady scheme and things like that, depth piece, you know, the bills have a couple receivers coming off of injuries last year, incurred a Samuel and
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and Kaleel Shakir's banged up and I'll get to him in a second.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: So it was clear that he was put on the practice squad injured list, which means he doesn't take up a practice squad spot.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: So the bills can still roster 16 practice squad guys, which is good.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: So when he's healthy and 100% ready to go, they can add him to the practice squad, which means they'd have to remove somebody or call somebody up from the practice squad.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I honestly,
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: don't see the bills carrying seven receivers.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: So either this is a situation where Gabe stays on the practice quad for a while.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: If Tyrell shivers doesn't work out, you know, being the sixth receiver, they can bump him down to the practice down to the practice quad and call up.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: Game Davis but we'll see as of right now the bills have six receivers on the act of roster if you look at the depth chart at the bills released yesterday Tyrell shivers is wide receiver six so head in to Baltimore the bills will have six receivers on the active roster now we'll see if all those guys will play on Sunday, but you know that will be determined once we get there
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: like I said, Khalil Shakir was limited today.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: He did practice, he did practice last week, first practice last week.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: It was almost a month to the day that he actually practiced last week.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously getting injured during the return of the blue and red scrimmage back in July.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: So it's nice to see him back out there.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully that's Josh Allen's number one target.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: One of the most dynamic
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: him for week one.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: But again, this is going to be a day-to-day basis as we go.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: And once the injury report comes out, you're going to see Khalil Shukir, day-to-day, Tridavius White, day-to-day.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see what happens with that.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: But it's nice to know that he practiced last week.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's back at practice.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: He wasn't a limited capacity.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see kind of what happens and where they go from there.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Curtis Samuel.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of fans have been talking about Curtis Samuel and the fact that last year, obviously injured in the beginning of training camp, missed the beginning of the season, was kind of dealing with injuries throughout the season, kind of came on late in the season, made some really nice plays for the bills down the stretch, into the postseason, missed part
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: A family matter, a personal situation, McDermott even touched on that.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: Today's saying it was just a personal situation.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: He's back at practice today.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: McDermott said he's good to go week one.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: So the bills will have Curtis Samuel 100% week one, which is something that they didn't have last year.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a positive, right?
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think we all want to see what Joe Brady can do with Curtis Samuel when he's 100% healthy.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you remember, last off season when the bills acquired,
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Curtis Samuel Joe Brady was chomping at the bit and he said, I wish I had 11 Curtis Samuels on offense.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully there's some things dialed up and we get to see the true versatility and the athletic ability of Curtis Samuel get him the ball in space and let him do his thing.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Hancock, as we all know, was injured during the preseason, he was back at practice today, which is nice to see.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think that at some point he's going to have a role in that safety room because he's a very versatile player.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: The bills loved him,
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, one of those guys that was going to be a camp darlin and then obviously the injury happened But the bills are high on them and a lot of bills fans are high on them.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's got great college tape And I feel like like I said and I've said in previous videos I feel like he's going to be a factor in that safety room We have Cole Bishop who too
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: training camps in a row was dealing with injuries.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: Taylor rap seems to get dinged up all the time, so it's nice to have a guy like Jordan Hancock who can step in there and fill in if needed in in small doses.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Tyler Bass still dealing with the pelvis injury.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could tell it was kind of bothering him in the last preseason game.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: say that that was the excuse for missing that the chip shop 26-yard field goal but I could you could tell by his mannerisms and just the way he was on the field that he he didn't seem like he was a hundred percent.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: So he's still dealing with it, you know, McDermott didn't give too much information.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: He hopeful for a week one.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: because the bills obviously need to have a guy to kick extra points, feel goals, kick off things of that nature.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: So kind of keep an eye on that, we'll see where that goes.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: So that's about it.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we'll see if there's any more news and notes that come out after practice, but the bills injury list defensively in the secondary is concerning.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: You know, McDermott talked about,
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, well, who's going to be ready?
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: He was very adamant that Jama' ark is angry.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in Dorian Strong.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be ready if their numbers are called week one.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now, not an ideal situation, but Dorian Strong seemed to have a really good camp of all the young.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: corners.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: He seemed to be, you know, performing best.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: So let's hope that that can continue.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: He gets some lumps.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: And if he has to play, he has to play.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't, you know, it's not an ideal situation going up against the MVP runner up in Walmart, Jackson.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: And Jamarka Sangeram played last year.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought he played in doses.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: In small doses he played well.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously he had an interception in interception or two last year and the game against Miami.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's been in the system the bills felt highly of him to put him on the act of 53 not even the practice squad just on the 53 so we will see it is week one.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: It is a game.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think the bills.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say it's a must have game, but there's a lot of variables that go into play long term as far as conference seeding, you know, do you want to start the season on one things going on around the league, but the bills do have.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: I would say a mediocre schedule in the following five games leading up to the buy that are I think extremely winnable.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: The five games after obviously you go to the jets and you go to the dolphins and things like that.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see what happens.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if they have to play Jamarkis, England, Dorian Strong, let them get in there and get some reps.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: We know Ingram has played if Dorian Strong needs to get his rookie lumps now.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that helps him down the road.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: Ravens are a more run heavy team, but
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Lamar Jackson's a dynamic quarterback.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: So the veteran presence that would be there from a Christian Benford and a Trudevius White to start the season, I think goes a long way as far as building confidence.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: So if the rookies have to play in Jamaica, Sangeram, the young guy that was on the practice squad most of last year, he's had some starts, but if he has to play, he has to play.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then I'll end with this.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: The bills will be worn all blue unis.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a uniform stand, if you're one of those people that waits to see what the combos are, if you have, you know, the...
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: If you're into how the bill is performing, and I'll blue, if you're into how the bill is performing with blue pants and white shirt, blue jersey white white pants all white whatever it is all blue the bills usually play really well in prime time and all blue and little known fact the bills are 13 and for since 2022 and prime time, which is the best record in the NFL.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I know they played the Ravens last year in prime time and that didn't go that well, but we do have a healthy line backing course.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to get more into that Friday prediction show.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be back with my guy Ron Eastman and then Saturday, I'll be back with Bill's algae.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: If anything, newsworthy breaks tomorrow, if we get any really good information from the media from the press, if we get any information from players and from the team, I'll come back on tomorrow.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I just wanted to jump on here because, you know, McDermott gave us a lot of good information.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of us were concerned about the injuries and it's that time of year, the seasons right here.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: Four days, and we're going to start seeing injury reports.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to start seeing death charts.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to start hearing about what happened at practice.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to start hearing about how players are progressing, progressing through injuries.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it was nice to see that it feels a lot like more football when we have Sean McDermott giving us updates on players and things like that.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we have four days.
