- 1:02morning in Minneapolis yesterday. The woman fatally shot by an ICE agent has been identified
- 1:07and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the ICE agent involved was treated at a local
- 1:12hospital and has been released. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says it's a patriotic duty to protest
- 1:19against the Trump administration. Wow. Is that not encouraging? More violence? And who is Jacob
- 1:26Frye? In today's show, I'll introduce you to the Democrat mayor who told ICE to get the F out of
- 1:32his city. Not exactly the way to calm the chaos in a time of heated tempers. I told you yesterday
- 1:39about Zohreh Mamdani's housing tenant advisor, Cea Weaver. She's been in the news frequently this
- 1:45week. Why? She's an avowed communist who hates white people, believes private property should be
- 1:50abolished, and that home ownership is a tool of white supremacy. Well, it turns out her mom lives
- 1:56in Tennessee in a $1.6 million home. Wonder what she thinks about mom. There's a lot to cover today.
- 2:04Let's get started. I told you we'd be back. And you shall know the truth, and the truth
- 2:10shall make you free. It's Joey Hudson. I wanted to name it the Joey Hudson bill,
- 2:14but you know, they don't allow you to name, put names on bills, but I wanted to call it the Joey
- 2:18Hudson bill because I know that one's been near and dear to you for a number of years. That's how
- 2:22it's done. Let your voice be heard. The truth shall set you free. Here's Joey Hudson. What a
- 2:31day in Minneapolis yesterday, the woman fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis has been
- 2:38identified by the Minneapolis City Council members as Twin Cities resident Renee Nicole
- 2:45Good, 37 years old. Good was shot by an ICE agent after blocking a road that law enforcement was
- 2:53traveling on during an operation. Video shows what appeared to be Good driving into the agent
- 3:01who was standing in front of her vehicle as he opened fire into the front of the SUV.
- 3:08Uh, city council members wrote in a statement the morning in ice this morning, an ICE agent
- 3:12shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a member of our community. Renee was a resident of our city
- 3:18who was out caring for her neighbors this morning, and her life was taken today at the hands of the
- 3:23federal government. Anyone who kills someone in our city deserves to be arrested and investigated
- 3:28and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Well, now, if you read this and you think that
- 3:35this lady was just out quote caring for her neighbors, why would you be trying to block the
- 3:42road that law enforcement is trying to use to serve warrants to people who should not be there?
- 3:52You don't have anything to worry about with ICE agents unless you're doing something you
- 3:58shouldn't be doing. Uh, the city council members call the incident an attack. They're demanding
- 4:03ICE immediately leave the city so they can get rid of their chaos and violence that ended the life
- 4:09of one of our neighbors today in their statement. They said now is the time to reach out and
- 4:13support your immigrant neighbors. The group wrote Minneapolis is resilient and will not back down
- 4:18as a federal government ramps up their attacks on our community. President Donald Trump posted
- 4:24in True Social saying the situation is being studied in its entirety and blaming the radical
- 4:30left for threatening, assaulting, and targeting our law enforcement officers and ICE agents on a
- 4:35daily basis. The official White House account later posted on X saying we stand with the brave
- 4:40men and women of the ICE and law enforcement who risk everything to keep our community safe. The
- 4:45agent who was taken to the hospital following the shooting has not been publicly identified yet.
- 4:51Protesters were caught on video a little later banging on glass doors and windows
- 4:58outside of the Minneapolis courthouse this uh that this later in Wednesday afternoon demanding
- 5:06ICE out now. The unplanned gathering came hours after this young lady allegedly defied ICE
- 5:14agents orders rammed into an officer standing in front of the SUV. Multiple elected officials
- 5:20including New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani represented Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez quickly
- 5:25called the shooting a murder as anti-ICE protesters backed away from the doors of the courthouse
- 5:30footage showed an apparent broken glass. Now Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem
- 5:37said the ICE agent who fatally shot Twin Cities resident uh Nicole uh Renee Nicole Good
- 5:44uh she said the agent again has not been identified as of yet uh is with his family
- 5:49out of the the hospital she spoke about what actually happened yesterday here's the secretary
- 5:57asked about a shooting that we just had in Minneapolis Minnesota um it was an act of
- 6:01domestic terrorism uh what happened it was our ICE officers were out in enforcement action
- 6:07they got stuck in the snow because of the adverse weather that is in Minneapolis they were attempting
- 6:11to push out their vehicle and a woman attacked them and those surrounding them and attempted
- 6:16to run them over and ram them with her vehicle uh an officer of ours acted quickly and defensively
- 6:23shot uh to protect himself and the people around him and my understanding is is that she was hit
- 6:29and is deceased we're continuing to gather more information but this goes to show um the assaults
- 6:35that our ICE officers and our law enforcement are under every single day these vehicle rammings are
- 6:40domestic acts of terrorism um we're working with the Department of Justice to prosecute them as
- 6:45such we will continue to protect our ICE officers and in cooperation with other law enforcement
- 6:51agencies as well you've seen me in the last couple of days deploy over 2,000 more officers to the
- 6:57Minneapolis area and in the last two days we've arrested hundreds and hundreds of dangerous
- 7:02criminals not just fraudsters who stole from the American people billions of dollars and put it in
- 7:07their pockets and enriched their friends from overseas and themselves but also individuals
- 7:13who committed acts of murder and rape and trafficking and drug exploitation and child
- 7:19exploitation so we're going to continue to do our work and I want to remind everybody that the act
- 7:25like we saw today of using a vehicle to try to kill an officer and his colleagues and the other
- 7:31people around him is something that every politician every elected official everyone in this
- 7:37country should be able to rally around and say that it is wrong and that sanctuary cities and
- 7:43sanctuary states that protect individuals who do that should no longer be allowed that those
- 7:50individuals that are in leadership positions in these sanctuary jurisdictions need to work with
- 7:54us to make sure that every single person that's out there enforcing the law can be safe but also
- 7:59so that all of our citizens can continue to be safe too domestic acts of terrorism like this
- 8:05will not stand and I'm grateful that we have the leadership in Washington D.C. that recognizes it
- 8:10and we'll make sure that it's working to keep every single community safe
- 8:14regardless of who's in charge in that city now again DHS alleges ICE agents repeatedly ordered
- 8:22good and others to get out of their vehicles for her to get out of her SUV
- 8:28and all the video and you can watch there's multiple angles of the video that you can see
- 8:33it's all posted online show her blocking the road it's very clear she was doing that
- 8:40uh miss noem encouraged americans to pray for the ice agent and for miss good's loved ones
- 8:46multiple eye sources told fox news none of the immigration agents involved in yesterday's fatal
- 8:51minneapolis shooting were wearing body worn cameras so we don't have any first uh firsthand
- 8:59video of the event however again there's plenty of video out there because so many people who were
- 9:06these so-called protesters immediately had their phones up videoing these ice agents from all angles
- 9:14as things spun out of control a protester was seen burning a U.S. flag yesterday too
- 9:21this near the scene footage circulating on social media shows at least one individual
- 9:26waving an american flag upside down a widely recognized symbol of political protest of
- 9:32distress in the video the mass demonstrator then sex sets the flag on fire while surrounded by
- 9:40cheering onlookers as the flag disintegrated reactions from the crowd were mixed up one
- 9:45bystander was captured on camera throwing objects at the individual in apparent objection thank
- 9:50goodness somebody sees the seriousness of burning a flag so let's take a moment and review what
- 9:58happened and again look at the video yourself new videos have emerged showing this fatal shooting
- 10:07they're chilling to watch captured again by bystanders appear to show multiple angles in
- 10:13one video the woman's suv appeared to be parked perpendicular to the road as law enforcement
- 10:19vehicles attempted to drive through this neighborhood you have mask officers who are
- 10:24getting out of their pickup truck which was flashing police lights blue light so it was
- 10:30very obvious who they were they and they walk up to the suv you hear a bystander in the background
- 10:36yelling no as officers tugged at the driver's door handle and the woman began driving toward
- 10:42an ice agent standing in front of her suv she hits him the suv hits the ice agent that's when
- 10:50he fires multiple shots into the front of the vehicle then you see the agent limping out of
- 10:56the way you see the suv speeding to the side of the road where it hits another vehicle and comes to
- 11:02a stop a second video which appears to have been filmed from inside a nearby home shows the ice
- 11:08agent standing in front of the vehicle firing shots as the suv hit him you can very clearly
- 11:14see from that angle that the vehicle did in fact hit him the suv could then be seen again speeding
- 11:21down the street so so again uh there's not really room for interpretation here it's very clear
- 11:29what happened the official white house account posted on x yesterday afternoon in support of
- 11:34immigration customs uh after this agent was was uh wounded said we stand with the brave
- 11:40men and women of ice i mean that's that's the official stance of the white house is that ice
- 11:47was only doing their job again let me encourage you find those videos watch them you can see them

- 13:00shooting now let's start with the governor of minnesota timmy waltz said it's a patriotic duty
- 13:07to protest the trump administration following the fatal shooting of a woman during an immigration
- 13:13enforcement operation in minneapolis here's the governor i want minnesota's to hear this from me i
- 13:19the desire to get out and protest and and to speak up to this administration of how wrong
- 13:24this is that that is a patriotic duty at this point in time so governor what responsibility
- 13:30do you have if in fact all these patriots you're talking about continue to go out into the streets
- 13:37protest and disrupt law enforcement as they're working you want someone else shot you want
- 13:44someone else to die uh the governor was speaking to reporters yesterday literally just uh an hour
- 13:52or so after the shooting he was critical of the trump administration over the surge of federal
- 13:57agents to the state to crack down on illegal immigration uh walsh tow reporters during the
- 14:02news conference the desire is to get out in protest and to speak up to this administration
- 14:07of how wrong this is that is a patriotic duty wow federal agents have been met with
- 14:14protests sometimes violent across the country department of homeland security said federal
- 14:19law enforcement officers have been targeted with vehicles and projectiles during immigration
- 14:24enforcement operations we've seen this happen in other areas can you imagine being an ice agent
- 14:31right now you you literally have a target on your back and people complain because ice agents
- 14:39wear facial masks so that they're not doxxed wow um the governor said we're preparing the
- 14:48national guard they're prepared to be deployed if necessary who's he deploying them against
- 14:54the the ice agents possibly are we going to have federal agents being uh confronted by
- 15:01minnesota national guard members or is he going to put them out on the streets to help ice control
- 15:07the chaos uh also new york city mayor zoran mangani and minneapolis city council member
- 15:15jason chavis on uh wednesday condemned the fatal shooting of course up 37 year old renee
- 15:2137 year old renee nicole good look it is a bad situation and i feel for her family i read an
- 15:31article on a statement in the new york post uh last night from her mom describing what a caring
- 15:38loving individual she was and i don't doubt that her mom talked about how she tried to help people
- 15:44i don't doubt that either but you don't help anyone by interfering with a law enforcement
- 15:51agent period end of sentence uh no criminal charges have been announced against the unnamed
- 16:00ice agent so far who opened fire during this incident the newly elected mayor of new york
- 16:07claims uh this morning an ice agent murdered a woman in minneapolis only the latest horror in
- 16:12a year full of cruelty these types of statements by elected officials is what causes further
- 16:20violence do they not see this do they not see that they're encouraging people to get out on
- 16:25the streets and do this are we going to have another george floyd moment in minnesota
- 16:34uh video showed what appeared to be good driving into the agent who was standing in front of her
- 16:40vehicle as he opened fire what else are you going to do if you're a law enforcement agent
- 16:46you're trying to do your job and you have a woman coming at you in their vehicle what do you do
- 16:54mom donnie wrote in an x post and ice as ice attacks our neighbors across america
- 17:00is an attack on all of us new york stands with immigrants today and every day that follows
- 17:05no sir it's not an attack on all of us if you're not out in the streets interfering it's not an
- 17:12attack on you uh council member chavis later sent out a statement using the word murder three times
- 17:20in the first three sentences saying my thoughts right now are with the loved ones of renee who
- 17:27was murdered by ice on 34th and portland the agent who murdered our neighbor must be arrested
- 17:32those who were involved in murder must be arrested again it's just throwing fuel on a fire
- 17:40he went on to claim that immigrants in minneapolis were being kidnapped and
- 17:44seeing their families torn apart by trump's foot soldiers now also chiming in representative ilhan
- 17:52omar accused immigration and custom enforcement of unconscionable and reprehensible conduct
- 17:58yesterday following this deadly ice and bob shooting omar said ice's actions led to the
- 18:04death of a legal observer and blamed the trump administration for what she described as reckless
- 18:09and deadly actions i would say that this young lady who was who lost her life was more than a
- 18:18legal observer you observe when you are standing on the side of the street watching and not
- 18:24interfering when you pull your car out into the street to block ice agents when you try to run
- 18:31over an ice agent you become more than an observer representative omar uh omar wrote on x i am beyond
- 18:40outrage that their reckless callous actions led to the killing of a legal legal observer in
- 18:44minneapolis my heart breaks for the victim's family who will have to forever live with the
- 18:48pain caused by the trump administration's reckless and deadly actions she accused ice of
- 18:54terrorizing neighborhoods and said the agency's ongoing operation metro surge had spread fear
- 19:00chaos and violence across minnesota saying this is not law enforcement it is state violence it
- 19:07is simply indefensible and ice must be held accountable in a separate post responding
- 19:12to videos shared by the department of homeland security omar disputed officials character
- 19:17characterization of the incident saying you're lying there was no attempt to run the officer
- 19:22over and no ice agents appear to be hurt get out of our city well ma'am you need to go back and
- 19:27watch the video i've watched multiple videos and regardless of the angle that you're watching
- 19:34it's very clear this lady tried to run over this agent clear and simple there's no other way to
- 19:42look at it there's no other conclusion to come to all right let's kind of slow down just a minute
- 19:48and really talk through what happened in minneapolis because once again we see emotion
- 19:57literally outrunning the facts leadership is getting replaced with literal profanity
- 20:05minneapolis mayor jacob fry probably never heard of him until yesterday
- 20:11made national headlines after telling federal immigration authorities to get the f out of his
- 20:17city this coming just hours after a chaotic confrontation that involved the ice agents
- 20:24rioters and a fatal shooting of a woman by a federal officer here's the mayor they're sowing
- 20:31chaos on our streets and in this case quite literally killing people so
- 20:40they are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense
- 20:46having seen the video of myself i want to tell everybody directly that is and i have a message
- 20:53for ice to ice get the f out of minneapolis we do not want you here
- 21:03your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety and you are doing
- 21:08exactly the opposite people are being hurt families are being ripped apart
- 21:15mr mayor you're right families are being ripped apart
- 21:19but because of actions and because of emotions because of of words like you just shared
- 21:27your profanity is not what a leader should be doing now according to the department homeland
- 21:35security federal agents again operating a a conducting an operation when crowds began
- 21:43surrounding and blocking ice vehicles and yes we're told that the the ice officers did not have
- 21:51body cams but there's plenty of video i keep saying yeah i know i'm repeating myself all you
- 21:57have to do is go online to facebook to instagram to x youtube tick tock any of those and you're
- 22:07going to pretty quickly find one of the many videos that are circulating out there and you
- 22:13can see for yourself exactly what happened you see that this this lady attempts to drive her car
- 22:21uses her car as a weapon because when you're involved with law enforcement like this and you
- 22:27try to run one over you're turning your vehicle into a weapon the federal officials and secretary
- 22:36gnome said it was domestic terrorism now that's their description mayor fry standing at this
- 22:44podium shortly afterwards dismissed the federal explanation entirely calling it garbage and he
- 22:50went straight for the microphones saying get the f out of minneapolis we do not want you here
- 22:55well guess what mr mayor you don't get to decide when federal agents are in your city
- 23:01if there are immigrants there illegally and look where was the mayor when we had all the somalis
- 23:09uh and these uh all the fraud the billions of dollars of fraud with these daycares where were
- 23:14you then mr mayor because and again let's pause here because this moment did not come out of
- 23:22nowhere jacob fry has built much of his political identity when you kind of start looking into him
- 23:29around resisting federal immigration enforcement he's known in the area again you and i have no
- 23:35reason to really know him because we don't live in the area so this is not new when you kind of
- 23:40do a little digging this is not reactionary this has been consistent of what mayor fry has done
- 23:47earlier this year uh mr fry reaffirmed minneapolis as a so-called safe haven city he assured illegal
- 23:54immigrants that city police would not ask about immigration status and would not arrest anyone
- 23:59solely for being in the country illegally but mr mayor you can't control federal agents
- 24:07the american people spoke very loudly in november of 24 telling president trump we are tired of
- 24:16illegals being in our communities using our resources now the mayor even issued an executive
- 24:22order prohibiting ice from using city property including parking lots they can't use city
- 24:28parking lots to stage immigration operations in other words the mayor just doesn't criticize ice
- 24:35he actively tries to make their job harder so when federal agents show up things go sideways
- 24:43the mayor's response isn't restraint or coordination it's confrontation direct confrontation
- 24:52now fry just won his third and final term he's term limited there's no next election to worry
- 24:59about and that matters because when politicians don't have to face voters again their language
- 25:05tends to get looser their tone maybe gets a little sharper because they don't have those polls
- 25:12to answer to they don't have to worry about going to the polls again and what we saw this week looked
- 25:18less like crisis leadership and more like positioning positioning with activists with
- 25:24progressive allies positioning with the base that views ice not as law enforcement but as an
- 25:30occupying force but here's the problem with that federal immigration law is still the law ice
- 25:37agents are still federal officers and when cities publicly defy enforcement the result isn't peace
- 25:44it's chaos because we still have that federal law indianapolis i'm sorry minneapolis can't just
- 25:51decide that they're going to protect illegal aliens it's not their job they can't do that
- 25:57they don't have that authority the city's no stranger to tension uh between leadership law
- 26:04enforcement activists i mean after the death of george floyd mayor fry famously faced chance of
- 26:10go home jacob from protesters including people within his own party after refusing to support
- 26:14calls to abolish or defund the police uh he was booed he was shouted down he was accused of not
- 26:21going far enough so at least he understands that you have to have law enforcement i'll give him
- 26:26that bit of credit in response he tried to walk the line apologizing promising reform acknowledging
- 26:33systemic brokenness while still stopping short of a full police abolition that balancing act
- 26:40has sort of defined his tenure when you again do a little digging a little deep deeper dive
- 26:46and you read what other politicians are saying about him in minnesota uh to moderate for the
- 26:53far left to to permissive for law and order and now caught in the middle of a federal immigration
- 26:59showdown so let's be clear and responsible here a woman is dead and that matters her family deserves
- 27:06answers but facts can take some time although again we have the video to watch multiple videos
- 27:16dhs says the officer acted in self-defense you can see that on the video the vehicle was used
- 27:21as a weapon someone crying well you know he could have gotten out of her way well you know when
- 27:27you're in that situation and you're about to be run over by a car your knee-jerk reactive action is
- 27:33to protect yourself declaring the federal explanation garbage before investigations are
- 27:39complete using profanity instead of uh waiting for the process telling federal authorities to leave
- 27:45while evidence is being reviewed that's just that's just irresponsible on a leader's part
- 27:51uh and here's what this really comes down to who runs the country do federal laws apply everywhere
- 28:00or only where local leaders approve of them you and i both know the answer to that can cities
- 28:06unilaterally decide which laws they'll enforce and which ones they won't again you and i know the
- 28:12answer to that the mayor knows the answer to that too he's just posturing for public opinion and
- 28:18what happens when local officials openly obstruct federal operations well i'll tell you what should
- 28:25happen if there's any federal funding involved they should lose it because if every mayor gets
- 28:31to veto federal law enforcement the system collapses we don't we don't need a congress
- 28:36no reason for i have a u.s house and a u.s senate and the people are caught in the middle
- 28:43uh they aren't politicians they're the families the neighborhoods they're the residents of that city
- 28:51so you can oppose president trump's immigration policies you can criticize
- 28:56isis tactics you can demand accountability when force is used all of that is legitimate
- 29:02but telling federal officers to get the f out of your city
- 29:09uh in the middle of an active volatile situation uh that's just again irresponsible of a leader
- 29:17is pouring gasoline on a fire just like governor waltz did when he said that it's their patriotic
- 29:24duty to protest minneapolis and the people of the entire state of minnesota deserve calm leadership
- 29:33calm leadership they deserve leaders who will step up and say let's pause here let's take a
- 29:39deep breath before this escalates families deserve facts and truth and the rule of law
- 29:48doesn't survive profanity driven politics it never does never will so i'd say mr mayor
- 29:58and governor waltz both of you need to calm down a bit both of you need to understand
- 30:04that the federal government's not asking your permission to enforce federal law because i think
- 30:10donald trump's going to keep doing that i don't think that he's going to be deterred from sending
- 30:15illegal immigrants back home do you text me email me joey joey hudson.com your comments are welcome

- 31:32at firman ford online at firmanford.com firmanford.com so we'll take a break in this final
- 31:39segment of today's show from minneapolis i want to revisit a story i told you about from
- 31:47new york's new director of the city office to protect tenants remember that uh this is a story
- 31:54that's been bouncing around new york politics this week and honestly it says more about ideology
- 32:00than it does about any certain individual whether it's a new mayor or any of his cabinet members
- 32:06new york city's new mayor zoran mumdani he's barely settled into office and already one of
- 32:13his key appointments is drawing some very serious attention that would be his housing and tenant
- 32:19advisor cia weaver now serving as director of the mayor's office to protect tenants
- 32:26remember this lady i told you about so why is she back in the headlines because past statements that
- 32:33she made mostly on social media and in activist forums have resurfaced and they're not very subtle
- 32:41weaver has previously aligned herself with openly socialist and communist ideas so she fits right
- 32:47into zoran mumdani's new cabinet she's criticized private property she's questioned the concept of
- 32:55home ownership as a wealth building tool and argued that housing should be treated more as
- 33:00a collective good rather than something owned by individuals so in other words your home that
- 33:07you're building equity in for your retirement you shouldn't be allowed to do that in her mind
- 33:15you're part of the problem now you don't have to agree with that worldview and most americans don't
- 33:23but it is a worldview that exists on the far left particularly in activist circles
- 33:28mayor mobdani didn't stumble into this he chose it he campaigned alongside it now he's choosing
- 33:35to govern with it he made that very clear in his inauguration speech that he ran as a democrat
- 33:44socialist and he's going to govern as a democrat socialist so what took this from ideological
- 33:51debate into headlines was the hypocrisy angle and at least the perception of it now
- 33:59and this is funny reporters discovered that miss weaver's mother owns a home in tennessee
- 34:09reportedly valued at around 1.6 million dollars that fact alone doesn't disqualify anyone from
- 34:17public service so let's be clear about that you're not your parents bank account but when
- 34:24you spent years criticizing home ownership as a social harm as being uh at the expense of others
- 34:34and calling for limits on private property people are going to ask questions especially when your
- 34:41own family benefits from the very system you oppose and that's exactly what happened when
- 34:49reporters yesterday asked miss weaver about it outside her brooklyn apartment building
- 34:55she declined to engage and ran back inside to hide later she told local media she regretted
- 35:01some of her past language and said she wouldn't phrase things the same way today that's an
- 35:06important moment i guess not because it ends the debate but because maybe it clarifies it
- 35:11but here's the bigger point this story isn't really about see a weaver it's about a pattern
- 35:16we see over and over in modern progressive politics radical ideas are often incubated
- 35:21in academic spaces in uh by some of these activists non-profits or online platforms
- 35:27places where the consequences of those ideas are abstract they sound they look good on paper they
- 35:33sound compassionate they sound bold uh maybe even transformational but when those ideas collide with
- 35:41real world questions like mortgages savings preparing for your retirement family stability
- 35:50things get a little uncomfortable fast and that's not unique to miss weaver you see it nationally
- 35:57you've seen it in cities like san francisco seattle portland and now new york people who
- 36:02have benefited from stable systems often argue those systems should be dismantled usually without
- 36:08explaining what what we're going to do to replace them i mean if you if you're bad if you're down on
- 36:14homeownership then what do you do now most voters don't expect perfection what they do expect is
- 36:22consistency uh if you're going to argue that private property is harmful people have the
- 36:28right to ask does that apply universally does it apply to your family does it apply to government
- 36:34officials or only to everyone else i mean those are fair questions but miss weaver didn't want to
- 36:41answer them when she was confronted out out front of her apartment in new york
- 36:46after she learned that they were that people were on to her about her mom's
- 36:50a million dollar home and brushing them aside with i regret the wording doesn't fully answer
- 36:56especially when the policy direction still points in the same ideological direction she's she still
- 37:02wants to do the same thing she's going to be the the the tenant bully for new york city
- 37:09here's where the story actually becomes important uh and look the proof's not going to be decided
- 37:15on social media not in tweets it's not going to be in apologies or viral clips uh the proof is
- 37:21going to be what the actual final policy in new york city is will new york city pursue aggressive
- 37:28rent controls that further discourage housing construction and when you discourage new housing
- 37:34destruction particularly in a city in new york like new york that needs more housing supply
- 37:43because that's part of the problem in new york city now is there is uh there's a shortage on
- 37:49affordable housing you don't tackle that issue by making things so hard on developers that they
- 37:58stop building housing will it treat uh landlords as adversaries or partners in solving the housing
- 38:09shortage there's a key to how you solve a problem like new york city has and it's not being in a
- 38:16confrontational relationship with the developers who can help you out of the problem you have
- 38:22so if the answer is yes then voters will rightly conclude that the rhetoric hasn't changed
- 38:29only the messaging has uh and and look mom donnie has already told us he's going to govern like he
- 38:35campaigned so we'll see new york city has real housing problems affordability is real if you've
- 38:41ever seen rents on on a new york city apartment uh and you live down in the carolinas or some other
- 38:48part of the country uh you know it costs thousands of dollars to rent a broom closet
- 38:56availability is a problem families are being squeezed you think there's a problem in in our
- 39:02area of higher rents you've seen nothing yet and the problem the additional problem in new york city
- 39:10so much of their housing uh supply are older buildings that are almost uninhabitable
- 39:18they're nasty so back to how they're going to govern um at some point leaders have to decide
- 39:26whether they're interested in really solving problems and governing or just validating
- 39:32activist wings of the party that helped get them elected some of the rhetoric and some of the viral
- 39:37clips that got them out there to begin with ceo weaver's past statements may fade from the headlines
- 39:45but the direction of policy under mayor mob donnie will not we all have to watch those
- 39:54and that's what new yorkers and the rest of the country should be watching closely
- 39:58because as i've told you before if new york is successful in some of these extreme positions
- 40:06why does that matter to us who doesn't live in new york well it will spread across the country
- 40:14if some of these uh elitist some of these woke leftists see that it can be done in new york
- 40:22then they'll try it in other places because ideas have consequences especially when they
- 40:27move from protest signs into city hall and that's what we've seen in new york city
- 40:33nobody thought zoran mamdani was going to be a successful candidate when he first appeared on
- 40:38the scene he quickly proved that wrong he's now sitting in gracie mansion that's going to be a
- 40:44tough one for people of new york city that's it for today's show tears up next followed by mike
