[upbeat rock music] All right, everybody. Welcome to Full Spectrum Cycling.
• 0:17
This is show [laughs] number 188. Ah. I believe. Yes. We're finally- Um, and by the way-... finally got to it... [bell dings] the top of the hill was already hit on the way here. Oh, copy that.
• 0:28
So we, we both had the, uh, One In Fives. One In Four. One In Fours. Over to the, uh, Amorphic. Yes. Par- Just figured, put, put it out there. Yeah. I, well, I've had it there before, and it's a really good beer.
• 0:42
Well- I just didn't understand the significance of the One In Four name yet.
• 0:47
I'm kind of not connecting the dots, because apparently it's acknowledging that one in four women in our fine United States 'merica here have been ab- abused at some point in their- Yeah...
• 0:59
domestic life or their- It's kinda Debbie Down-... their, their life. It's- Yeah... a little downer. Yeah, for sure. But- But- You know, socially aware.
• 1:06
Yes, and this- I know when I, when I saw the numbers, like f- five to one, you know, with those dollars. Potentially. 25 or six to four or...
• 1:14
Yes, but, uh, apparently some of the proceeds go to address that situation, hopefully in some meaningful way. Yeah, probably like Sojourn or something like that.
• 1:22
And, uh, also Black Husky has a version of it, and I, I know that Company came up with the original recipe. Yeah, they normally collaborate.
• 1:29
But they each do their own take on the whole- Or, like, three of them go like, "Oh, hey, it's-" One In Four. So yeah, Sam D. was here, and he... We stopped over there, and then- Yes, and I saw him.
• 1:40
I, I saw his car with bikes run away, [laughs] and I was like, "Oh, oh." Run away. I was like, "Shit." Run away. I miss you guys right there.
• 1:48
[laughs] And then I was like, "Okay, well, I'll just finish this beer," and then like there, as I'm ordering, there he goes.
• 1:53
[laughs] Yeah, his- Like [laughs] Well, his bikes were residents of the shop for about a month because he had been doing a Midwest, uh,
• 2:01
tour with his lady and going up towards Marquette and Copper Harbor and just- Coppa, Coppa... taking, taking some time off and riding some bikes. And, uh, so we had- Not his, though. Well, he had a...
• 2:12
He has his- Well, his loaner... Pivot. His Pivot is a- [laughs]... full suspension maniac bike, but, uh, yeah. I'm not making fun. I'm just, I'm being jealous. Yeah, no. I'm making jealous.
• 2:23
[laughs] I, I'm jealous- You- I'm jealous of his stable. You, you make he jealous. Well, yeah.
• 2:28
[coughs] So the bikes that were here was the Krampus that he's had for a really long time, and it's now kind of become the loaner bike for friends, and his Chumba, uh, Ursa Major titanium fatbike. Yeah, huh.
• 2:43
The one, the only one you ever need, unless you need a couple more. Yeah, you need more of those. Oh, I, yeah. He has more titanium bikes than I do. That's- I, I, I ju-... goofy. I was ju- That's just goofy...
• 2:52
I was just given, I was just gifted an aluminium bike. Yeah, yeah. How did that- Oh. Oh... how did that work out? Okay, so- 'Cause you, you had, you had- I-... picked it up early.
• 3:01
Uh, you must have gotten out of bed before a normal Saturday. Yes. Yeah. Well, I... No, normal wake up, but normal- Leaving... mobi- mobilization- Right. Right... you know, kind of thing. And it was like, "Oh, fuck.
• 3:13
Let's just get this done with." And, uh, the, uh... Well, I had to stop at the bar. I mean, it was parked outside a bar. [laughs] It, it, it, it- So I, I had to get a drink before I had a... Like, okay.
• 3:26
It landed- And it was-... outside all night without being pilfered. Yeah. And I mean, it's a aluminum Trek something. And he gave me the code. It's a, a coded, uh, you know, the spinny bullshit. Combination locky thing?
• 3:41
Combination lock, that's the word I'm looking for. Um, Kryptonite-type thing. And it worked to get it off. Put it back in, oh, hell... Oh, hell no. I was like, "No, I'm putting both disparate parts in my backpack.
• 3:55
[laughs] I don't give a shit. This is ridiculous. This is gonna be like..." Yeah. Oh, how to recombobulate it? Oh. D- no, just to put the damn, the U back into the lock- Oh. Yeah, that's 'cause-...
• 4:07
part, 'cause it's got that little wibby, wibby wap- Yeah, that, that-... on it... there are different versions of Kryptonites now. Just- Oh, and it was just like, "Fuck you, whatever. Okay, I get this one."
• 4:16
But it, he, he, uh... There's a sweet, uh, Banjo Brothers, [laughs] frame bag. A pretty useless, you know, cell co- cellphone thing. Except, no, that would be for, like, you know, your weed kit- You put your-...
• 4:34
kind of thing... put your weed in it. Well, yeah. That kind of thing. I mean, for- But, I mean, uh-... for, for the, for the price, it's- Yeah... can- can't be beat. For, yeah, for the ground score of it.
• 4:42
And, you know, every so often there's somebody, you know, random in town going like, "I need a bike." It's like, "Dude, here, just u- I was expecting you to ride the thing now... here. Just use it."
• 4:50
It's, like, got gears on it, and it's comfy sorta. Oh, it clicks. [laughs] It clicks.
• 4:56
And the more I ride it, I'm going like, "Oh, this is gonna just turn into a fucking single speed again," or it just gets seized into a single speed [laughs] which is- Yes... that's why I go, "Yeah."
• 5:07
By the way, I, I might mention that JK is here tonight. Oh, if I haven't [laughs] been blathering too much on that. Uh- I'm just occupying the, the vocal- However-... space of, uh, Tony...
• 5:17
the, it, uh, Triple T is not here this evening. For some reason, he, he, he seems to be a little bit under the weather.
• 5:24
He said the flow- He may have encephalitis or something in his brain keeping him from thinking straight. It could have been the, the COVIDs. Could be the COVIDs. It could be the long COVID. I don't know about that.
• 5:34
I mean, people have been coming up with it again. And I, you know, hey, knock on the woods, I do not have it again. I just- Or if I do, th- well, no, I don't. I think I'm now, what?
• 5:46
A week, two weeks out from my booster, so I've already- Well, here's the thing... maybe, maybe boosted into the, uh- I, I, I've been working on a u-... past the season...
• 5:53
I've been working at a university for the past 20 years, and that place, every university is a Petri dish of- Oh, of course... fucking kids just-... coughing, sneezing.
• 6:02
Like, "Ugh, I'm totally sick, but I gotta, I gotta get to class." So yeah, they get to class, "Oh, I gotta, I gotta drop this off in his mailbox. I didn't make it to class." [coughs] [laughs] Yeah. So, yeah. Totally.
• 6:16
And so I've, I've... Mm-hmm. I... Yes. Copy that. [laughs] And s- and, and speaking of yes, I've got a, I've got a green light on the, uh- Oh... Call, Call-In Studio dashboard. I'm pushing the- I'm red light...
• 6:31
green light now. Oh. Welcome to the radio program caller. Who do we have on the line? It's Seely Dave. Yo. All right, Seely Dave. It has been a hot minute since we talked to you. Yeah. Yeah, it has.
• 6:49
Um, how are you guys doing? We're doing well. We're just, uh, just, uh, opening the show up. [laughs] Chat, chat, blathering, yeeking- Blathering... endlessly as usual. How about you? What's happening up, uh, Seely way?
• 7:01
I, well, you know, I, I, I, uh, you know, that, uh, my buddy Ben Welnick from Mountain Bike Radio, who was one of the very early bicycle podcasters, said don't discount, um, blathering.
• 7:18
[laughs] Well, kudos to him. The power of a very clever quip. Yeah. Lots of people love- We'll ensnare the herds... the sound of blathering. [laughs] They, they...
• 7:29
Well, it just it, it's, it's endearing to people to get to know the real blathers. It is. Yeah. Yeah. It is. Yeah.
• 7:35
Especially when you're, like, on your own, you're in your garage working on a bike or something, like, you just wanna...
• 7:41
And you wish, like, two or three of your friends around that you could blather with, you, you know, this is what you do. [laughs] Well, you've got such a nice place out there. Yeah.
• 7:51
I think people would be beating your door down to come up and hang out up at, uh, Seely Dave's, uh, cabin- If-... of wonders... if, if the... Right, if there were any people, but there aren't.
• 8:01
[laughs] There are no people up here, so. That's why I like coming up- It's Seely Dave's... that's why I like coming up there so very much because, uh, there aren't that many people up there. Right.
• 8:10
How, how's the, uh, fa- Right... how's the fall season? You guys are past peak color already now, I assume, right?
• 8:15
Yeah, you know, we're, we're at the point now where, like, the tamaracks are, um, are like, uh, they're just freaking popping.
• 8:23
You know, they're sort of like a late fall color tree, but they, like, they definitely represent. So, so that's awesome. Um, but yeah, we're past fall, um- [laughs]... with peak colors and stuff like that.
• 8:38
So, um, and we, we've had a little bit of snow already, um, and, and I'm looking forward to snow. That's one of the reasons why I called you.
• 8:49
A- and I, I think I, I think I mentioned this the last time I called in, but, like, um, Milwaukee Bicycle Company has started building a new fat bike, um, and it's built at Waterford, um, so it's Wisconsin made.
• 9:07
And, um, and mine's, my frame is done, I guess. So, so, like, I just gotta, like, con- you know, connect with Vince at, uh, Ben's and, like, confirm all the parts build and stuff like that, but my frame is done. Nice.
• 9:24
I'm pretty stoked. Yeah. How, uh- I'm pretty stoked... what's a capacity of width of cool- Yeah, what, yeah... fatty tire? Yeah, how, how did they, how did they set it up? Is it a 170 bike, 190 bike?
• 9:36
Is it, uh, anything fancy about it or is it- You know what, dude? I... This, this was just, like, uh, they don't have a name for the frame yet. I think- Oh, it's gonna be huge... Rick Walls got one.
• 9:50
Rick Walls got one, and, like, he was up here and he mentioned it to me, and I, like, just, like, called, like, Drew and, and Vince and was like, "Okay, I want one."
• 9:59
Um, and, like, so, [laughs] so, like, I kinda don't know anything about it, right? I just ordered it on faith 'cause all other- Right on. Right on...
• 10:07
Waterford built, you know, all other Waterford-built steel bicycles I've ever got have been freaking amazing, so I can't lose, I don't think. Sure. Sure. Right. But I know nothing about it. I know.
• 10:21
[laughs] No, no, I- Well, here, so I c- [laughs] So what I'm wondering is because we, I tried to get them to build fat bikes for us for several years, and they always had an exclusive with Fatback in Alaska.
• 10:34
So now that- Oh... that may have run its course, and I'm just wondering how close it is to what- I'm sure it has... what, what that used to be- I'm sure it has... blah, blah, blah. So.
• 10:44
The last, the last time I went to Waterford, they had one frame builder left.
• 10:50
You know, when I worked there, which was, you know, 20 years ago or something like that, there were, like, you know, five frame builders that used to work for Trek that did nothing but TIG welding, and then, like, another, like, eight that did all, like, the brazing shit and stuff like that.
• 11:09
There were probably 20 frame builders there, you know, um, people building bikes.
• 11:15
And now I believe they've got one person left, the guy that was the head of their shop before, so he's the best builder anyway, so that's good. But, um,
• 11:28
so I believe Waterford's got, like, one builder left, a painter or two left, and, and, like, you know, it's pretty low, you know. I mean, I think they're kinda...
• 11:39
You know, Richard's aging, and I think they're kinda, like, edging out of things, but I don't know what Tucker's plans are for the future. But I was stoked to get, like, a f- and nothing against any Surly Bikes.
• 11:53
A buddy of mine just, his Linksky just, his ancient Linksky cracked, so his fancy titanium frame broke and he bought a S- [laughs]... a Surly Wednesday. That wasn't Judge Jerry, was it? He bought a Surly Wednesday
• 12:09
Did- What? It wasn't Judge Jerry, was it? Yeah, yeah, Judge Jerry. Judge Jerry's- Yeah, well, yeah... Lynskey finally gave up the ghost after 12 years or something? Yeah. Wow.
• 12:17
Well, I, to- It's, it's- Okay, so to be f- to be fair on the Wednesday theme- Come in, man [growls]. And he bought... And his next... But, like, his next bike was a Surly Wednesday.
• 12:25
So, like, I got nothing against, like, Surlys and, and the entry-level, like, you know, um, fat bikes and stuff like that Surly makes, but- I w- yeah, I wouldn't call them- But I, I gotta-... entry level, per se.
• 12:37
Come on now. They're, they're mid-grade, those babies. I'm telling you. Okay. All right. [laughs] Wild Goose is- [laughs] Wild Goose- [laughs] Wild Goose is entry level. Well, and- Right, yeah. Okay, right. Fair enough.
• 12:47
Fair enough. And- My point is, like, you know, I love Waterford. I built for Waterford for a while, and so, like, anything made in Milwaukee or Waterford, Wisconsin is, like, great for me.
• 13:02
And I c- And as much as, you know, Dave Wages was a builder when I, alongside me when I was there. He was ahead of me.
• 13:10
He was a little bit further along the curve, obviously coming from, like, Serrata and stuff like that. But, so, you know, obviously if I could afford a Nev from Dave- [laughs]...
• 13:20
I might have done that, but- Well, you can mortgage your house a- Well, I, but I just-... a second time. Right, but I couldn't. So, so this was a pretty sweet bike for me, so I'm pretty stoked about it.
• 13:32
Yeah, sounds cool. I'm pretty stoked about it. Well, it just, you know, on the Wednesday theme, uh, my, I had a prototype of the ape that we did with, um, the guys at Zen before they folded.
• 13:44
We engineered the whole thing. We were ready to pull the trigger on getting some frames made, and I got the one prototype, and I've been riding it around for, like, five years, and I love the thing, but- Yeah...
• 13:54
it's not something that I can reproduce and potentially offer to other people, uh, to enjoy the beautifulness of it. So I decided to take the majority of the parts off that and throw it at a Wednesday frame.
• 14:06
It's a great bike. I've been, I've been [laughs]... I made the mistake of riding 40 miles on it, like, the first day I built it and going, "Yeah, I haven't really dialed this thing in yet." [laughs] Oh, that, yeah, so.
• 14:16
[laughs] Um, but, uh, yeah. Well, was that, was that for- That was debut bash day, I think... was that for Biketoberfest? Yeah, it was. That was, like, the first real ride on it was Biketoberfest, and, uh- Oh, dude.
• 14:24
All right. Okay. All right. So now, like, you're making me, like, tear up. [laughs] Because, like, Bill Rouleau's rides, um, and, and PeeWee's rides- Yep... which you guys have sort of carried on, but, um- Sort of.
• 14:37
[laughs] But Bill Rouleau's rides, I, I still have, like, one of the very early, um, uh, Biketoberfest posters that I have laminated, um, hanging in, in my house. It's... So Bill's rides are like, yeah.
• 14:55
I thought it w- They're, they're- I thought it was good. It's always good- It was a good ride... because, no, I, I've always taken, like, a semi page out of his playbook on that. Like, I [laughs]
• 15:06
where, like, there was this insistent asshole, Buttcrack Andy, if you know. I'm not g- I don't care about calling him out. He's an asshole. [laughs] So [laughs]
• 15:17
he w- he just kept hassling Bill, going like, "Hey, where's the next stop? Where's the next stop, dude? Where's the next stop?" And he's like, "Dude, you'll find out when you get there." And I was like- Right. Exactly...
• 15:29
"Yes. Yes." Yeah. "Yes, yes, yes." Bill is the k- Bill is the king of that. One of my favorite memories is one of the very early Biketoberfest rides. Um, and I'm a costume guy.
• 15:42
I, I have, like, like, Liz will come home, and I'm just, like, wearing some, like, weird costume and she's like- [laughs] I'm doing sexy nurse tonight... "What the fuck?" You know, I'm like, "What?"
• 15:52
[laughs] Just felt like putting on a costume. There's a fine line between a costume and a nice outfit in my mind. Right. Thanks.
• 15:59
Um, but, uh, but so, but so, so one, one of the early, early, um, uh, Biketoberfest rides, somebody's riding in a Mexican, um, wrestling mask, uh, a lucha- Yeah, yeah...
• 16:14
mask, and, and I love, I love lucha, uh, ex- too, so I'm like that's cool, but, like, that guy can't see out of his fucking mask. [laughs] And, and, like, I ended up riding over his chest- Mm...
• 16:28
um, because he had crashed 'cause he couldn't see what he was doing, and I had to, like...
• 16:33
And I'm not that great of a bunny hopper, so, like, when he laid it down, like, right in front of me- Yeah, you just became a speed bump [laughs]... and... Yep. Sorry, dude. [laughs] I'm riding over your chest.
• 16:44
[laughs] No, there's always calamity on Bill's rides, man. And it's just- Oh, man... how you deal with it. Yeah, totally. Ton- Tony's taken a digger or two- Yeah... on Bill rides, for sure. Yeah.
• 16:53
Dude, I, oh, I, oh, I was playing- Yeah... I was wiping him up in the ass. It's a point of pride. There was one guy who just kept blasting into fucking curbs no matter what. I was like, "Oh my God.
• 17:03
Somebody come back here and grab this guy." [laughs] So Dave, getting- You know, the, the, the, the... Yeah, sorry. Go ahead. I was just gonna say, getting back to the- Yeah...
• 17:13
the Milwaukee fat bike, just so we can kinda close that out, what do you, what do you know about any kind of availability, or is it on their site yet?
• 17:21
How can people maybe learn a little more about it, or is this just sort of- It's not. That's what's so weird.
• 17:26
And I, I, I asked Drew, uh, Drew Triplett, who's, like, their engineer for that stuff, I was like, "Drew, have you got a name for this? I'm gonna be on a podcast. I'm gonna talk about it."
• 17:37
He's like, "No, I'm just call it, like, the fat bike." [laughs] I'm like, "Okay." So I, I asked him. I haven't heard back yet. Um- The Fat Dave. The Schlep. Oh, wait. Yeah. The Schlep.
• 17:47
I said, "If I come up with a good name- Yeah... if I come up with a good name, can I name it?" What? And he said, "I'll listen. Ha ha ha." [laughs] Yeah. So- It's time for a brainstorm... so I'm gonna try to,
• 17:59
I'm gonna try to come up with a name for it, because I've got one of their, you know, Feral 29ers, um, which I think is a great name for a steel, you know, 29er Feral. Um, and I love the idea of, like-... being feral.
• 18:16
As in- You know? So- Like feral like a cat or like a ferrule that you put your, uh, you know, your, uh- I would call it a bob-...
• 18:21
at the end of your cable or whatever [laughs] I'd call it a bobcat I know they call them ferals, but yeah All, all, all of the, all of the above. Yeah, there you go. Right?
• 18:29
So- It, it, it's multi, multipurpose Bobcats are semi-feral. Right, yeah. All of the above. So this is all of- Um, so anyway, so I- These, these are all of my good ideas... yeah. All of them. Right.
• 18:41
[laughs] So those are all things I wanted to talk to you about. Um, a couple other things I wanted to talk to you guys about were, um,
• 18:50
one, I'm, I, I'm trying to squeeze in one more bike packing route, um, that Shane Hits from Wausau has developed this waterfall route in Marinette County. Mm. Which is kinda what...
• 19:07
It's kinda like the Waterfall County in Wisconsin. It's, it's got the most waterfalls. Um, and I, when I created my first waterfall route, I started over in that area, but it didn't work out for, uh, some other reasons.
• 19:22
But Shane's created a cool route. Nice. So, um, I'm talking to Eric from, uh, from Embark Maple about, like he and I trying to like
• 19:36
jam in a, a quick bike packing trip before like deer hunting and the snow falls and all the other shit that I got going on. Yeah. [laughs] Um, so- Before, before you start riding around- But hopefully-...
• 19:47
and getting shot. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, right. [laughs] Well, I, I, my bike, my bikes are orange, my bikes are orange, so- Yes, I under-... they're the orange bikes [laughs] I know, I know, but [laughs]
• 20:00
Right But all the same, it's like, "Mm." So, so that's something that I'll, I'll try to update you guys on, because Shane created a really great route.
• 20:10
It's only like about 200 miles, and it's 17 waterfalls, and it just dips its toe into the UP. And, uh, and, uh, so I, I'm excited- No passports needed?... to, to ride this route. No passports. No passports needed. Okay.
• 20:27
But- Scared us... but it just... There's a, there's a brew pub and a dis-, a dispensary on the route. [laughs] So whatever you need to do- Well, that's a good reason to go into Michigan-... you can probably-...
• 20:39
if, if for no other reason than- [laughs] I mean, you know, going down to- Exactly. Oh, hey. Well- Oh, show your ID. Oh, out of state dude tax. Hey, 50 more bucks. Uh, not so much in Michigan. Man.
• 20:52
Illinois is, is much- Illinois-... much more egregious about just- Illinois and-... profiteering off this whole thing No. Totally. Does it buy weed from where- No, there's no profiteering in the UP...
• 21:00
you always bought weed from? Right. It really isn't. Right. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. [laughs] No, it, Illinois's are- It's just compli- it's just comp... It's just a little complicated, 'cause- Yeah...
• 21:10
you know, like you can't use a credit card, blah, blah, blah, all the, all the things that we all sort of know.
• 21:14
So, um, but some people- Just, just like our local guy that comes by and delivers to the shop, he doesn't take credit cards either. [laughs] I'm sure he doesn't. [laughs] But so I'm super stoked about that.
• 21:26
Um, and, um- It was just my birthday. I was gifted a bunch. [laughs] Like bleep, bleep, bleep... that, thank you JK for bringing that topic up- Ah... because that's one more topic I wanted to discuss. Hey.
• 21:39
So JK just had his 50th, right? Ah, yeah. And he had a booth planned. And, and Dave is like a dear friend of mine. Um, so, so that, I was sad that I missed that. Ah. So Liz and I both just had our 60th this year. Sweet.
• 21:56
So we, we had a par- we threw a party here at the Sawmill Saloon in Seeley- Mm... where we paid The Waco's to come up and play, and we paid a local band to play, and we paid John Seeger to come up and play.
• 22:10
And we freaking blew the roof off the place. Nice. I mean- Nice... it was, it was crazy. Fuck yeah, man. So... And it was- [laughs]... it was louder than anything ever at the Sawmill Saloon.
• 22:27
[laughs] It was. Yeah. Well, that's awesome. Yeah, I, it was on my like if I can make it work list to come up there, but just- Yeah, I know. And I get it. [laughs] I didn't feel bad about anybody that didn't make it.
• 22:40
It, it just w- it was kind of a selfish- Well-... endeavor for Liz and I. I mean- Yeah... we h- honestly, we, we paid kind of like a lot of money to pay the bands and stuff like that to come.
• 22:50
But- That's a, that's a long ways from the normal-... but we really just wanted to throw a- I honestly-... you know, just throw a party for ourselves... I still have no idea. Yeah. Three bands.
• 23:01
I, I still don't know what the receipt was. Oh, for, for JK's party too. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. It was Voot. It was Voot- Oh... Mrs.
• 23:09
Fun and Hawk is a Weapon, which w- ended up being a jam band collaboration for about four hours. Yeah, it worked out great. [laughs] I was like, "Ah." So yeah, yeah. I- Well, we, uh- [laughs] It was like, "Whoa, shit"...
• 23:21
so The Waco's had, The Waco's were playing in Minneapolis the night before, so... And they had their fiddle player from New York playing with them, so Jean Cook, she's like a SiriusXM DJ as well.
• 23:36
Um, she was in town, so, so they were close. They worked that out though because of our party. Um, but I mean, we probably spent five grand on this. Ooh. Yeah. I know, I know it added up there.
• 23:50
It was like band- Yeah, but you're worth it. Oh. It w- Yeah. L'Oreal. It was six, our 60, our dual 60th birthday party. Right. So it's a once in a lifetime- Sure. Oh, fuck yeah. Yeah, yeah... thing that we're gonna do.
• 24:00
And we fucking loved it, and it was amazing, and everybody was great, so we're so happy. That's- Yeah, yeah. [laughs] It was great.
• 24:09
I remember like, I think it was my 40th, because Wendy and I have been together longer than that.
• 24:15
So we were probably doing better then than we are now for some reason, most likely 'cause we both had jobs then instead, instead of one of us with a job and one of us with a bike shop. Uh, but- [laughs]...
• 24:26
she was like, "Oh, you've always wanted a Porsche." I think I, that's, uh, she was kinda leading up to that, "I'm gonna get you a Porsche for your 40th."
• 24:33
And I'm like, "Yeah, you don't have to do that," and blah, blah, blah. I got a, like a, a PS2 with, uh, some- [laughs]... some game with [laughs] With, with GTA II. Yeah, GTA II or something with a Porsche in it.
• 24:44
[laughs] And I'm like, "Ah, you know me so well." [laughs] I'm like, "Don't spend f- don't spend 60 grand to put it in my driveway. Just put it on the TV. It's fine." [laughs] Yeah, just get that triangle- Right...
• 24:55
you know- Exactly... I'm just yanking somebody. Whatever. That said, you guys have both, both, both JK and now Dave with the, uh, the big bashes. 'Cause I'll be 60 next year.
• 25:04
Well, you, you, you beat me to it by a year- Okay... so, uh- All right. Well- So-... you gotta s- you gotta step up. You gotta do something. Well, let me- You know... let me tell you this.
• 25:12
Wendy does- You gotta do something... listen to our show, believe it or not. She's one of the three or four people that do listen to it, so- [laughs]... 60's coming up, dear. It's, it's next July. Just so you know.
• 25:21
[laughs] What music do you like? What would you like to hear? Well, I c- I, yeah, we can- I like Kix. I like Helix. I, I don't think- Helix- I don't think we-... giving R-R-O-O-C-K.
• 25:33
I don't think we can get, uh- What's that spell? Rock. Yeah. What we gonna do? Rock you. I don't think we can get H.R.
• 25:39
from Bad Brains, 'cause I think the one time he's coming through Wisconsin before they're done is tonight. Yes, I am going- Which is two days ago... I'm going to see- In that time...
• 25:47
the lead singer of Bad Brains at Shank Hall after we, uh, stop the proceedings. Oh, damn. I know. That's cool as hell. Yeah. [laughs] I was like, "A whom?"
• 25:57
At the sa- well, um, on the same evening there is GWAR playing at, uh, the Rave Eagles, but GWAR's- [laughs]... gonna be back. GWAR will be back, and it is a fun spectacle. Okay. It's a fun spectacle.
• 26:09
I've never, I, I w- I l- I, I like to laugh at GWAR, but I- Yeah... honestly have never been, like, to one of their, like, plays, but- Oh, no, the, the, the show is spectacle. It's like going to the circus. Right.
• 26:20
It's totally going to the circus. Exactly. It's just going to the circus. A- and the circus has different, different performers- Ooh... every time they come through- Yeah... just like GWAR. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So- Yeah...
• 26:28
so the, the- But this is-... the spectacle won't go away... dude, this is the f- this is H.R. This is human rights coming in.
• 26:34
Well, I'm just, I'm just gonna throw- And he's gonna come in, and he's gonna be- I'm just gonna-... the IRA part. He's not gonna be like, "Yes, I am here to be all Bad Brains." No.
• 26:43
[laughs] He's gonna be- So I'm just gonna-... "Oh, I'm IRA"... throw this out. I'm just gonna throw this out as just, like, uh, an idea, and I expect no response or... I, I don't- Yeah...
• 26:55
like, I will not feel bad if there's no follow-through, but here is my thought.
• 27:00
Like, so I just, before I, like, hooked up with you guys, I was, like, listening to all my old school records and stuff like that, and, um, 'cause Liz is out for the night. Um, but, uh, but
• 27:12
what if JK put together a little playlist for every show? Because, like, he's got, like, you know, actual genuine musical knowledge that I respect. [laughs] Not that I don't respect Tony and, and- [laughs]...
• 27:29
and, and, and- I am hearing you... Dan, you know. But, no, true. But JK's a specialist. True. He is. He's a specialist. Absolutely. Right? No doubt about it.
• 27:35
No, I roll in with my- I think that it's- So what if he, what if he threw toge- what if you added in a little, like, JK playlist for every, like, show note. Um, here's the JK playlist- We did the Monster one...
• 27:48
with 10 songs or something like that. Dance Party has been a good one for the last [laughs] couple of weeks. Oh, no. Yeah, I, I mean- I like that. I would like- It would- Well, 'cause I normally r-...
• 27:57
I would like to tap into that... I normally roll in playing something, like- Right... "Yeah, I'm coming in hot. Da, da, da, da." Yeah, it would be like a Spotif- Right... it would be a s- Right...
• 28:04
be like a Spotify thing, 'cause we can't, like, play them on- Yeah... the show. But yeah- Yeah... for sure. No, I like that. No, no, no. Good idea. No, no, no. And many times- Yeah, but, but-... it'll be MSC. Yeah.
• 28:14
No, yeah, no. It could be- Could be a-... whatever, dude. Yeah, yeah. It could be whatever. I like your idea.
• 28:18
I, I, I respect your musical, you know, plus the whole Bill Relall thing in the last two shows, like, sort of got me thinking about that. [laughs] Like, you know, with the music thing.
• 28:28
Um, I know he's, their sh- their record store has kinda got the prog rock a little bit going towards it. [laughs] But, um, but I love JK's, you know, insight, so, um- Not a bad idea at all...
• 28:42
I think that'd be a cool thing to add. Eh, just an idea. I like it. Who am I? We- I know it's not your first rodeo, so- [laughs] No, I appreciate it... feel free to ignore me. [laughs] Playlist. You're making me blush.
• 28:55
[laughs] All right, Dave, anything you wanna leave us with before we wrap this puppy up? Well, I'm just wondering if we're, if we're a- anywhere near the top of the hill yet. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
• 29:05
Yeah, but- We need another ham? Oh, yeah. Believe it or not, uh, we actually did Top of the Hill, uh, before the show, just as it worked out, [laughs] so- Oh, okay... but we could... Well- All right. Okay...
• 29:16
we're, we're, we're hamsing, but what do you, what do you got? Well, hey, wait, here's the thing. Well, there's, it's not like there's not just one... There's often more than one hill, so.
• 29:25
There, there's more than one hill. True that. There are more than one hill on every ride. Well- Right? Right. There are. Absolutely. What are you, what are you hil- Yeah... hill drinking? I'm doing that, uh- Well-...
• 29:36
that blueberry nonsense... you know, the, it's, it's kinda weird. Like, um, I was sick, like, a couple weeks ago, and, like, lost my taste for alcohol. Heaven forbid.
• 29:51
So for, like, two weeks, like, I, I, I know it's kinda weird. It's never happened to me before. But for two weeks I had, like, no interest in having a beer or a cocktail or anything. It just, like, sounded bad to me.
• 30:06
But, um, just, just recently, uh, my taste has come back. And so I am having a old fashioned, of course- Uh-huh... 'cause I live up north. There you go.
• 30:22
And it's, but it's an old fashioned made with Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Bourbon- Bourbon... 120 proof. Wow. Oh. Ooh, that sounds like a- Oh, barrel... something worth drinking. No, I do.
• 30:36
I am mixing in some bubble water and stuff like that- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... so it's not just, you know, straight up killer, killer. But, uh, but it's delicious and strong. Where does that, uh- Yeah.
• 30:46
I didn't hear what you guys were drinking in, beer-wise. What are you guys drinking beer-wise?
• 30:49
Well, we had s- so the beer that we had before the show, before, [laughs] the hill before the, the show, was, uh, a beer called... It's One In Four, which is, uh, several breweries around here are doing a version of it.
• 31:01
Uh, part of the one in four women have experienced, uh, violence in their lives. I don't know if it's domestic. Honestly, I'm not- Oh... 100% sure of what it is, whether it's domestic or it's- Uh-huh. No, I get it...
• 31:14
it's, the violence against women thing- No, but it's cool, like... and it, and it's to bring awareness to it and- Yeah, I get it... yeah, I'm semi-aware of it now.
• 31:20
I, since I've never been violent to women, I don't understand it, but- Uh, I, I appreciate that there is a need to let other people know that that's happening out there Right. So what's the beer?
• 31:32
Who's, who, who brewed it? Uh, Amorphic, which is our local... If you ever come to a show- Oh... in Milwaukee- Your neighborhood, yeah... yeah, right. That's, yes- Yeah... it's like- In the armpit...
• 31:40
300 feet from the front door. Right in the armpit. Oh my God, is it great. [laughs] It's a really great brewery. Yeah. Anything they do there, I've been very, very happy with. That's so great. Yeah. That's so great.
• 31:51
Right on. Yeah. So I, yeah, well, uh- All right... we gotta get off the air. Okay, guys. Okay, Dave. Well, thank you for having me again. Absolutely. Thanks for listening. If you get more- Me yammering...
• 31:59
if you get more information on that, that, [laughs] the Milwaukee fat bike, let us know because- I will definitely, I will definitely do it. Yeah. You know, like I said, I'm just, like, going on trust. [laughs] Yeah.
• 32:11
Right. No, uh, totally, totally- And-... totally earned trust that you have a long history of knowing about this stuff. Right. If you wanna throw accolades- Yeah... at my, uh, at my phone number, I'll just leave it on...
• 32:23
Oh, yes. Okay, I'll just go to sleep to that one. [laughs] Okay. You can YouTube that one. Okay, good. [laughs] That was sweet. Okay, Dave. All right. Awesome to see you. All right, love you guys. Talk to you soon.
• 32:32

• 33:25

• 33:37

• 33:50
Yeah. It's within hobbling distance. I already have a rolled ankle that I'm getting better with, but guess what? My girlfriend had done sprained her ankle, so she's hobbling whatever. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no.
• 34:07
You know what? But the bicycling- Here's the thing about-... works okay with sprained ankles and is therapeutic You're not bringing, you're not bringing bikes up there. You think I'm gonna be a- No, no.

• 34:28
So I'm going to be in my Zoom meeting, and while they're getting drunk as shit, I will be like, "Okay, now I'm finally done with this. How is everyone doing? Holy shit." [laughs] Perfect.
• 34:41
That's what Door County's all about. Yeah. You know, if it were a little later in the year- It's like, "Oh, hell, I will see you guys on Saturday, won't I?" I tell you, one of the nicest- [laughs]...
• 34:51
semi-drunken things to do up there is broomball, but it's, you gotta have a frozen lake to do it on. Yeah. That's all about- I don't, I don't mind the idea of what, what they...
• 35:03
I kinda wanna stop in Sturgeon Bay just because that was, like, when I was, that was, like, ear- o- one of my early and only shoplifting experiences [laughs] was there. So. Nice. Maybe you could- You know...
• 35:20
re- recreate the, uh- Exactly... the scene of the, the damage. [laughs] I mean, it, it was nothing, it was nothing except just to do it kinda thing. It wasn't like, "Oh, wow, I need this."
• 35:33
I'm like, "No, I just wanna see if I can get away with this." Well, awesome. Well- That's what happened... here- That's how, that's how I became me, [laughs] everybody. Welcome- Yeah... to the group therapy session.
