- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of the Tortured Fans Department podcast.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I'm your host, Sean Boyle, and I have a dynamic duo joining me today.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: It is one half of the Cousins, dare I say the better half.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: It is Mr.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Jeremy Good.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Jeremy, how are you?
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Doing great, Sean.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I'm excited about this group.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: These are my people.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: This is a podcast.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: That's all you're asking for.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: And secondly, I have none other than a founding father of the program.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: It is Mr.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Michael Collins, MC.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: How are you?
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: Mr.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: Boyle, so happy to be back with you tonight.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: Thanks for having me on your program.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Always great to chop it up with you and Mr.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Good.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Love to be here.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: We've got a quick couple of housekeeping items.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: We have expanded the Tortured Fans department to the Tortured Fans network.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: We have a little podcast called The Friends on Football Show that's going to fall under the Tortured Fans umbrella.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: The first episode is out now.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: It is going to be run by myself and Brandon Johnson, who might make an appearance on this very program as well.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: So keep an eye out for that.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: But happy to have that launched underway.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Episodes will be weekly, and then as the World Cup starts, we'll certainly be a few times a week as content will be flowing during that time.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Also, though, as you are listening to this on our Instagram account, voting is open for the underrated cities draft.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: I am trying to win my fifth consecutive draft.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: The only person on this panel that was not on that draft that night was Mr.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Michael Collins.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: MC, I just wanted your thoughts.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: You've seen the graphic, you've listened to the episode.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: I want your thoughts on how you think the draft went and maybe who who your vote is going to be going towards.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it was very interesting draft uh because there's a million different ways that kind of everybody went with it, and it's very niche and specific to uh to the drafter themselves.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: So it is more subjective in this case than than most other drafts that have been done.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: Now, having said that, I do feel as though Sean got kind of the the clear top two in my mind, uh, in his first two picks of Charleston and and Newport, uh, when you're talking smaller cities with charm.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: But I mean there's some good other uh Shane put together a nice little lineup there as well.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: Uh but yeah, Boyle, it was sort of like uh he can't get can't keep getting away with this type of situation when you when Newport kind of fell right into your lap there.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: Uh I will say my one a big takeaway, I don't quite understand the obsession with having to have visited this particular city.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: Uh, I don't feel it's disingenuous at all if you take somewhere that that you haven't been.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Of course, you have a better feel for it if you had have had boots on the ground there, but I don't know, Ryan was seemed to be the kind of the uh portrayer of of that rule or that unwritten rule, I guess.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: And that so much so that it appears on this graphic anyway.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: I don't know if if that's Ryan's attempt to price some people out of making good draft picks.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: Is that it?
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: Is that what he's trying to do here?
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: But I don't know.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: I just think I haven't been to Lambeau Field, but if you're talking uh NFL stadiums, that's that's gonna be on my board.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: So it is what it is.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: I think actually my favorite part of the entire episode was to hear Jair uh really happy about a Wisconsin pick.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: I didn't know you were such a Wisconsin guy, Jared.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Small town Wisconsin.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: That's my kind of place for the small town.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: That that's you to a T, buddy.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I wanted I wanted Madison for sure.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: But uh no, Ryan, yeah.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Ryan had the pick of the draft with Waco, Texas.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Brilliant.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was India.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: Good great one.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Honestly, MC, I think you bring up a good point about the fact that some of the cities drafted people hadn't been to.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: I was mostly doing it as a bit because it was funny, in my opinion, to make Shane feel as though he was being disingenuous.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: I do think what what Shane fell into the trap of he was being so disingenuous, in my opinion, because he wasn't even researching these places, he was just googling cool cities and then just drafting them and had nothing for us aside from he drove through tell your ride, the Kennedys went to Cape Cod, and he he really didn't have much in the way of information, is what I would say.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: At least if you're gonna draft the city, put in a little bit of effort, give me a couple fun facts.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: He was just throwing out names that look good on a board.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and a shout out to Jarr.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: He definitely did that.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: I I am looking at his his pick of Asheville, North Carolina, which I have also not been to.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: I'm dying to get there, uh hopefully one day.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: And I think that that is a perfect example of like, yeah, I haven't had a chance to get there, but you know, it's yeah, I know I know of it.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Anchorage, Anchorage, Alaska, too.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Those were the two ones I haven't been to, but like respect, you know.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Well, hopefully we don't like Anchorage.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Either way, listeners, please go vote on our Instagram.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: We voter turnout is it's mandatory at this point because I'm getting chirped that I'm loading the ballots.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: I don't want any of that.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: Go vote for what you think the best list is.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I won't persuade you any further.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: We have a big agenda today, boys.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: We're gonna talk about the PGA championship that took place at Aranamink in Philadelphia.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: We have some NFL news to get to, and then we have just a couple of miscellaneous pop culture-y segments to wrap up the show.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: The chunk of the program today will be spent on the PGA championship.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Aaron Rye comes away the winner, which I don't think anybody had on their bingo card to start the week.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: And it wasn't just he snuck this one by, he put together a performance for the ages.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: So credit to Aaron Rye.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: I think that's where we need to start.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: Were you guys satisfied with the outcome?
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Were you happy to see Mr.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: Rye lift the Wanamaker?
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Very happy.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: Well, not very happy, happy.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: I don't know why I said very um I usually root for bigger names for the majors, um, but I don't mind a smaller name, especially as we learned about Aaron Rye uh on Sunday, about how he grew up, um, and stuff like that.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: The double gloves, the iron covers, just who he is as a person.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: You could easily get behind that.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: He seems like a great guy.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Um he's played some good golf over the years, hasn't really ever put it completely together, but he's had a lot of top finishes in 2024, I think.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: So that was nice.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: I I usually root for the Americans, I usually root for the bigger names for the majors.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: That didn't happen, but after learning more about Rye, it was cool that he won it and maybe good, a little foreshadowing for next Ryder Cup, possibly for Team Europe.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: So maybe he can be become a bigger name because of this major uh win.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it was cool.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it certainly wasn't the uh climatic ending that we all kind of had hoped for, especially when you see what the leaderboard looks like after uh after the third round on Saturday, you're like, oh man, uh, you know, I was saying playoff, I was saying four, five, six-way playoff.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, but you know, Aaron Rye absolutely went out there and just slammed the door shut.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: He shot 31 coming in on the back nine Sunday.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, how's that?
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: Um just an absolutely crowded leaderboard, like I said, and he was just hitting darts uh with his wedges, driving accuracy out the waz.
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: He was fairways and greens, fairways and greens, and then oh yeah, by the way, did we mention how he's rolling in 30 footers, 70 footers, whatever it is?
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, so just unbelievable performance by Aaron Rye.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: The killers were out in in full force.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: We had John Rahm up on the leaderboard, Rory was lurking, of course.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: Jared mentioned JT.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: He absolutely deserves a mention here that uh he had a really nice day.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: So there were there were dudes up there, and at any point he could have faltered or or gotten scared of anybody behind him, but he just kept hitting good shots.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: And for a guy who is like bottom 5% of driving distance on tour, uh, he took what was supposed to be an easy course for the bombers and taught them a thing or two about playing golf.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, early in the week we had the quotes from Rory that talked about how it was just grab driver and kind of hit it anywhere.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: And I think that maybe got misinterpreted a little bit, but it led us all to believe that this was going to be a pitch and putting, that they were gonna bring this course to its knees, and the course turned out to be anything but that.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: In fact, it was almost the exact opposite, where driving accuracy really was at a premium, and Rory himself would have posted a much better score on Sunday if he was able to keep the driver in play.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: He kept losing it right into the rough, and from there you're just not able to make birdies.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: In terms of Aaron Right, I wasn't rooting for him on Sunday, admittedly, as you guys mentioned.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I was kind of rooting for the horses to separate from the field and hopefully maybe get a playoff between a few of them.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: But as the day went on and you start to see some of these quotes from other players come out about who Aaron Rye is, and players typically stop just a little bit short of where they went in their praise for Aaron Rye.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: Xander Shawley said he's the hardest worker on tour.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: He gave an example about how he went out to putt one night at nine o'clock and Aaron Rye was out there putting and then planned to go to the gym after that.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: So there's stuff like that that comes out.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: There's people talking about how he's not only one of the hardest workers, he's also the best guy, is what Maverick McNeely and Ludwig Ober said.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: So it's cool when one of these majors does go this way.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: Definitely.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: In the moment, we're kind of rooting for the big name to add one to their legacy.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: But then when you get a story like this, it keeps everything in check and it makes you realize that there's some other really cool stories that can happen in professional golf too.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Also, I can only assume Aaron Rye's a tortured fan.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: He's from Wolverhampton, England.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: And if I know anything about that town, they're all Wolves fans.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: And boy oh boy, that's one of the only teams worse than Tottenham.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: They're getting relegated.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: So this I'm sure this is a nice little pick-me-up as his wolves are heading down.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Also, I don't know if you guys saw his wife's swing is going viral from the Masters.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: Did you see her swing at the part three contest?
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: It's so much better than mine.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: She's a pro.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: She looks it, yeah.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: I missed, I missed his wife.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: I'll have to look that up.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: But yeah, him him and Zayn Malik both down in the dumps on their their wolves.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: But yeah, no, Aaron Rye, totally like such an easy story to root for.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: Uh Jared brought up the the double gloves and iron covers, which are two in objectively insanely goofy things.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: Um and you know, but the both a decent little story behind it.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, well, hold on, I'll say the two gloves he blamed on the fact that it's cold in England.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: Let's come on.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: There, how many, how many British golfers that we do we watch day in and day out?
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: They you what you think it was they had a spot of sunshine on them?
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Victor Hoffman's from Norway.
- 11:36unknown: Right, right.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: The iron covers, on the other hand, I I can respect a little bit.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: Of course, if you ever see uh an amateur golfer donning iron iron covers, that's uh incredibly douchey or just a noob thing to do.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: But he said it was kind of to pay homage to uh the fact that he kind of grew up without money and that one set of irons that he had he had to take care of.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: So that was where the covers came in, and he and he keeps them going for through today.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: So, like I said, just an easy story to root for, and uh just to build on everything that you said.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: Clearly, he's well liked around the tour.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Certainly.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: So, not only a deserving winner, but a champion that we could all get behind in hindsight.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: I felt a bit bad for him.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: It didn't seem like the Philly faithful really embraced him and wrapped their arms around him.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: It seemed like they were echoing some of our sentiments where we're kind of rooting for somebody else.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: And their applause were a little muted on the 18th.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: It also didn't help that it was a bit of a runaway at that point.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: So I feel like there was nothing really to cheer loudly about.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: So at least he got his moment.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: He lifted the trophy, a moment he'll never forget.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: On Sunday, as the day was progressing, and that leaderboard, as we mentioned, was absolutely wild.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Who were you pulling for if you had to nail down one person?
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: One person.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I was rooting for JT.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: He had a pretty good first three days.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Sunday, especially back nine, he just slaughtered the competition and ended up being in second place at the time.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: It oddly enough never felt like he was gonna win because he was still behind um was it Maddie Schmidt?
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: And then even though Schmidt kind of lost the lead, it just seemed like JT was never gonna win it.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Even I don't know why, but I was rooting for JT.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: He had a great Sunday, finished fourth, tied for fourth ultimately.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: But uh, yeah, and a few other guys.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: But if I had to pick, it would have been JT.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: There there certainly was a point in the day where JT was the leader in the clubhouse in at minus five, and there was some there was a little bit of carnage going on, and I was like, hold on now.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't I wouldn't hate to be sitting where JT's sitting at right now.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: But uh yeah, no, uh an incredible day from him, as we said.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: Um, and Cam Smith, of course, also had an incredible day.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: Uh I caught myself rooting for him, although I like similar to Jar, I felt that I uh that he didn't really have much of a shot to win.
- 13:53SPEAKER_02: He's just pure electricity every time he tees it up.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: Um, I couldn't be happier.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: It seems like the dingo, as as we refer to him, uh seems like he might start caring about golf again.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: He's got a new swing coach by the name of Claude Harmon, if you've heard of him.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: Uh but really I thought that Rory was gonna come out hot and kind of do his thing.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: I thought that John Rahm would would have uh put up a number, and especially after we saw some low numbers early in the morning.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: Uh, but they both kind of like ran out of gas.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: Both of those guys would have been a ton of fun.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: But yeah, Rai just just out lasted them.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: Shauna, I I have a couple of guys that I was rooting for who I want to shout out in negatively, but let's see what your Sunday thoughts were first.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I want to just reiterate, I want you to put word out that we're back up with the dingo.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: We are back up with Cam Smith.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: I love what I saw from him.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: The mangy Australian dog.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: I love that he is still the exact same look, and now we're starting to swing it a little better.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: He couldn't he couldn't drop a ball on the fairway, and he still almost won this tournament.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: So that's that's almost the best part of watching him.
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: It's speathier.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: It's speedy.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it is.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: He puts the T in the in the ground, and you truly have no clue where that ball is going to wind up.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: And uh, you're pretty sure it's not gonna be on the fairway, but he makes birdie from anywhere.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: So yes, that's why those are the kind of golfers I love, and it's why I find some of these robots like Scotty boring.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: And it's not their fault because they're objectively probably better and more consistent at golf, but I love the fact that it feels so relatable, even though it's not, it feels way more relatable when a guy goes up there and sprays it both ways and then just figures out a way to make a bomb putt or chip in or do something really crazy.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: It it's way more fun to watch, it's way more entertaining.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: That's the brand of golf Cam Smith plays.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: That's why I'm a diehard Jordan Speith guy.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: That exact style to me is so exciting.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: Cam Cam Smith, by the way, he doesn't even hit the ball far.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Like it's not only is it going either direction, it's going either direction in short.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: And he still is just out there.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Go ahead with your guys that you want to shout out negatively.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: I'm sure I'm gonna have a problem with one of them.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: Well, there these are guys I was rooting for going into Sunday.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: Uh, and I thought that they could make some things happen.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: And actually, I'll start with somebody who was not in contention on Sunday, but going into the week, he had all the buzz around him, and that's Cam Young.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: That everybody, everybody and their mother said this really should be a course that Cam Young kind of tears up.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: It's you know, it's not necessarily a bomber's paradise, but if you can push it down there, it doesn't matter if you miss the fairway, you should be able to get up.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: And clearly that was not the case.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Cam Young fell flat on his face.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: He shot and he finished even for the tournament and was even on Sunday as well, and just not not the effort that we were looking for from uh from young Cam there.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: No, I'm pretty sure I owe Blum lunch because of Cam Young.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: He took Scotty first in the draft that we did on the preview show, and I took Cam thinking that's 1A, 1B.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: And Cam let me down big time.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: I saw him on the course a couple times.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: We'll get to our takeaways from boots on the ground coverage that the Tortured fans had, but I saw him on the course a couple times.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: It looked like he didn't have a clue what was going on in these greens.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: He was constantly hitting putts way too short or way too long.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: I saw him miss a couple shorties and kind of throw his hands up at his caddy in the hole.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: Not the best week, one forget for Cam Young.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: And actually, to make matters worse, he blamed it on like uh a little head cold that he had.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: Uh apparently he was he was feeling under the weather all week and he took some some medicine on Thursday that apparently made him feel dizzy over putts.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: So who hasn't had a few and felt dizzy over a putt?
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, of course.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: Every round camp.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: Try eight transfusions if we're on the front nine.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: That whole situation uh so uh the uh another one I had was Patrick Reed.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: I really, really was hoping that he would insert himself more than he did uh on Sunday.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: He he put himself in in position, and then now this is actually the second straight major that he was just a few back going into Sunday, and I was expecting something from him, and he just he let me down.
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: I you know this is I I'm traditionally was never a Patrick Reed appreciator um until kind of live came around and it was almost like a don't know what you got till it's gone type situation.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: And but seeing him now, he's only playing the four majors this year, and you know, he had a nice little performance in the Masters, fell flat on his face on Sunday, and then did rinse and repeat for the PGA, so that was a bummer.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: You're exactly right.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: It's like a little tease, and I don't know why all of a sudden we find ourselves rooting for this guy, but he's done some kind of charm on me.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: It's like I've been hypnotized, and all of a sudden I'm I'm all in on P.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: I can't get enough of the guy.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: He's so he's a detestable human.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: And there's something about him now, it's just like, oh boy, I want him so what Philly stuff.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: I want him all around the mix.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: His wife, too.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: I ran into his wife on the course.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: I asked her her thoughts on Philly.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: She said it's fine if we win.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: That was it, it was all about the team and the mission in the read camp.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: And unfortunately, they just like you said, fill on the face on Sunday.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you just need a better effort from from P.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: Um, and speaking of needing a better effort, Ludwig Oberg, of course, is a fan favorite.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: I know a favorite of Sean's.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: I I'm an appreciator as well.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: I love watching him play, love his game.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Um, he was in the group that was at uh minus four going into Sunday.
- 19:52SPEAKER_02: It was just too back of the fifth four hole leader, and he like just the the effort wasn't there.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: The putter was never, never on his side, and may never be.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: You know, he had there were accusations of he can't close, he can't win, he he chokes.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: Um unfortunately, that's uh all proved to be true.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: But yeah, no, he he struck the shit out of the ball, but the putter just is too squirrely for him to win at present juncture.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Well let me this is gross behavior from an quote unquote appreciator.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: What did I say that what did I say that was correct?
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: No, you said you said what you said was factually correct, but the way you're spinning it on my poor guy Ludwig, you said some people are saying he's not a close or not a finisher.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: That's you saying it.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: That's you saying it.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: A lot of people are saying it.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: That's that was you, and it was his ninth major, for God's sakes.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: You know how many guys would be kicked off tour if they didn't win their first nine majors?
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: He has three top tens.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: What are they maybe four now at this point?
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: What do you want from him?
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: And listen, and it was a good week, it was a it was a very strong week, but he this this was supposed to be the one, and especially going into Sunday, we all we said it to each other, this has gotta be it, Luddy.
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: And the uh the effort that I saw on Sunday was not one that really inspired me with much hope.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: Uh at least at least in the short term, until some putter, some things on the green get figured out.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I will say the putting was diabolical.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: So bad.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: So bad.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Really gross.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: Short misses, three putts from 15 feet, like several times.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: What really broke my heart was I saw stat, and I don't believe everybody was finished at this point when I saw it, but close to everyone was.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: And it was that Jordan Spieth led the field in T to Green and Ludwig Aubert was third, and both of them were amongst the two worst putters in the whole field.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: And it it it just breaks my heart.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: We just couldn't buy any putts this week.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: But believe me, yeah, that's the guys are coming.
- 21:59unknown: I
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: coming.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: You have to be uh pretty enthused uh on the ball striking performance from both of those guys.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: There's no doubt.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: But that's just the the question that was asked by this setup uh this week and unfortunately neither guy had the answer to it.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: But you know there there had been criticisms of it's it's sort of a lag putting contest and it was at times which made for made television viewing less uh enjoyable than uh in-person spectating which of course we'll get to but um yeah those guys a little bit disappointing uh but uh let allow me to contradict myself like I do so often in on this program and I do still think that Ludwig will be a major champion within the next three to five years I I would be willing to to put that down.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: That's that's brave of you and I appreciate I appreciate you sticking your neck out is he the best player I know young career is he the best player on tour without a major right now Fleetwood can't Cam Young as well Cam Young's probably the guy right now yeah I mean if you're talking right now recently recently probably Cam Young yeah uh can't lay yeah yeah the likes of those Collins I think that's a perfect segue from you to talk about some on the course takeaways we all had the privilege of attending the this major some of us more than once I'm looking at you two uh why don't you just go through and tell the listeners what day you were there and then we're gonna do we have a little highlights or takeaway segment prepared so just run through your list of highlights takeaways we will chime in need be Jeremy I'll kick it over to you I believe you're there for at least one practice round but tell me about your experience I was there for the Tuesday practice round Thursday entire day practice round I was only there for the morning it was great.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: I thought it was an amazing event both days the whole week great course the five things that stood out to me very general points I looked at some of your lists lit lists more specific which I love for me though uh the openness it was awesome I know that Aranomink removed a lot of trees to have the PGA championship makes the course easier in a lot of ways but it also made it more open more accessible to walk more accessible to see a lot three four holes at a time you could see across the entire course too which I think is kind of nice so just the openness and ability to move around really access a lot of the holes in a short amount of time unlike other courses where it might take forever to get around the course um second one just seeing Scotty Rory JT Xander all the guys in person I mean these are especially Scotty he is uh he's a face of golf right now and such a celebrity so just seeing him walk up uh the 11th fairway up to uh the green was pretty cool and just seeing it in person is awesome we don't get these events a lot in Philadelphia a lot of great golf courses so it's just great to be there in person see the players up close see the shots I mean it was it was uh it was as professional as it gets with that uh what else just walking the course like I said the layout was awesome there were different spots where you could see several holes at once you could see several greens at once you could see greens in a tea box at once so the layout was great um a lot of bathrooms a lot of places to get food a lot of different places around uh just of course to move around and the walk um and then four um I love camping out I camped out at eight and ten for a little bit because again you can see both greens there and if you turned around at 10 you could see the 11th T box which was awesome uh great spot great spot that double green complex between eight and ten yeah that was awesome that was awesome 17 was you can see them teeing from up top of the hill on eight to yeah you can see 17 a little bit from there god yeah that's a perfect spot yeah yes just following the groups too like being able to like I followed Godd up McIntyre Tommy Fleetwood for a few holes and I just camped out at like 10 for like 90 minutes and saw 10 12 groups come by so that was awesome just a lot of general points for me the parking and shuttle transportation on Tuesday I did I had a parking spot and the shuttle was great.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Thursday took SEPTA took a little bit of time but again the shuttle like the whole system and transportation was awesome so uh just a really well done event and it was really cool.
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah I think one thing we I should have prefaced before you went Jeremy but all three of us agree on this takeaway operational excellence from the PGA of America and putting the tournament on and then all the volunteers at Aaronink it was from top to bottom just a well-run tournament the transportation I thought was excellent the parking how they got people in and out and the shuttles you didn't really feel like you had to deal with traffic much at all in my opinion also the biggest thing for me the food situation I know it was baked into those ticket prices but what what are we I should have led the show with this they they were handing out food ad eronomic and and beverage every everything except alcohol but proper lunches too I'm talking like thick burgers Italian sausage chick grilled chicken sandwiches hot dogs whatever your heart desires and unlimited they had breakfast in the morning coffee grab as you go drinks water sodas Gatorades anything you need I I felt like Vince Vaughn in the internship when he it was his first day at Google I was looking for someone to pay and he's like can I have a bagel too and he's like yep and he's like how much is that gonna run me and he said nothing it's free he goes I could have three I'll take I'll take six uh I'll take seven that's what I felt like I just there was there's no way this could all be free maybe a banana it's it is the most important meal that's exactly it's so fun it was exactly that I was just like wow I couldn't know true it a true a true thank you sir may I have another uh type atmosphere there it it was great and as someone who would rather starve than wait in line even for a single second to get food that it greatly benefited me i that it truly was awesome and the food was solid too I mean they're cranking them out just cranking those burgers and dogs and sausages out and chit I had a chicken sandwich grilled chicken sandwich it was delicious I had another sausage that was you know incredibly actually good right and anytime you're mass producing things like that I assume that it's gonna taste like absolute garbage which it very much did not um but well said by by both you and and Jeremy there uh Jar thanks for for taking us through your day that is an awesome spot that you were sitting at on on 10.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: I was also I was also there uh on Tuesday and unfortunately missed Jair look at that yeah I was there tuesday and saturday this um actually now having attended the uh PGA championship I am only a uh an open championship uh British open away from completing uh my grand slam as a spectator so uh you know next year 2027 the old course at St Andrews Scotland who says no i'm I might have to go go take matters into my own hands and and collect my uh my winnings there but uh I did I did things pretty differently this time around so I've been to a couple of US opens and a masters this time I was lucky enough fortunate enough to have my uh nine month old daughter with me for both days and that was just an absolute treat a delight she had a blast um of course it was her first experience at at anything like this any golf tournament so we uh we took it a lot easier than I normally would while attending golf events we put a blanket down in the shade and just let her roll around we were over by the by the third hole uh the seventh right there between the sixth and the seventh fairways a little bit too um so pretty good viewing there but really the the most of my day was about relaxing enjoying the company of of my family yeah I had her I had uh my daughter there with us both days on Tuesday for the practice round which by the way this was my first practice round of of any tournament that I had ever been to I might be a practice round guy it was empty it I I could yeah yeah you could go wherever you want whenever you want it was so nice all the guys are out there uh you don't have to worry about missing any golf you you can see everything yeah you just don't miss it you don't miss any golf and when you're there yeah you can feel like you're seeing what you want to see but there's still so much going on that you just physically can't see so I went to one practice round in my life and I was like if I could choose that's where I would go every time because it's a 10 out of 10 experience.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah agreed and so uh so yeah on on Tuesday I had um uh I had the baby and my parents were out with us and we had a just a grand old time uh just hanging around soaking it walking the course soaking up the vibes Saturday was significantly more crowded as you can imagine um and my wife it was her first golf tournament as well so me uh my wife and the uh the baby were out there pretty much doing the same thing put the blanket down um but it was just a lot more hectic but just the ability to um share that moment with them I mean I love going to golf tournaments in general and um getting to introduce that to both my wife and my daughter is is was very special.
- 32:03SPEAKER_02: So that was an awesome awesome time both days.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: Really my number one highlight was was just that just walking the course so like Jared said it was a it was a really nice walk you could see a lot of different holes from multiple different vantage points uh it wasn't difficult to navigate in any sense um and especially on Tuesday just being able to to roam around freely and take in the sights the sounds the smells uh that was that was perfect um and uh and then lastly uh one of the main highlights for sure was we were hanging out on 18 watching a few good groups come through we saw uh speeth and uh DJ uh come in uh maybe a low light of my day saturday was having to look as often as I did having to look at Speath's shirt boy was that was that a bad bad shirt that underarmour should they they should be like held in contempt for for what they do to him sometimes.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: But that that was a great group we we were following them around a little bit um then so we we managed to get a a nice spot right up on the uh 18th fairway right up on the ropes there pretty much right where drives were landing um so we saw them and then right behind them was Rory and Brooks.
- 33:29SPEAKER_02: Rory blew his drop his driveway right pretty much right where right at our feet probably about 10-15 feet from us so uh got Lucy a an up close look at um at one of the best golfers in the world and he he had a tough little lie there so that was that was interesting to see him navigate that um so that was that was certainly a highlight uh there I wish I had gotten the opportunity to see more like elite shots getting hit there just weren't that many of them it was more of a grinded out type of tournament uh based on the way that the PGA set this up but um nonetheless the that made the the few birdies that we did see all that more special and the roars were uh were there to back that up too so um yeah we had a great couple days out there I love that my takeaway is my highlights will not be anywhere near as sentimental or as probably valuable as yours were MC but I have just a few very niche specific ones that I want to run through.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: I was there on Friday for the second round of the tournament highlight for me was again you were right in saying there wasn't a ton of roars or spectacular shots because the golf course was just pretty hard.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: The the shot of the tournament I think everybody would agree was aside from Aaron Rice 70 footer it was Jordan Spieth's shot on 11 on Friday.
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: I was following the Speath McElroy Rom group as was almost everyone on property because that was the marquee pairing.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: So it was tough it was not for the faint of heart you got your steps in you marched you walked quick you skipped two shots to see approach shots in the fairways it's not my first rodeo I don't think I missed much at all.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: I would miss a shot on the T, but I would see where it ended up and where he was hitting his approach from because that's kind of the game you have to play if you want to see them all.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: So the shot on 11 on Friday he is short sighted on the right side to a front right pin the wind is whipping down it it's gotta be a shot where you just hit it to 30 40 feet and try to two putt.
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: At least that's what multiple tour players have said they would do.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: Well not speath he lands it short of the hole hops it hops skip and a jump he leaves this short of the hole somehow I I think if you gave professional golfers a bucket of balls none of them would be able to leave it short of the hole even if they wanted to and somehow Jordan does it just all time short game on Jordan speath and then the real speet touch that only he could do just whiff the putt wasn't even really a good stroke on the putt didn't sniff the hole didn't touch the hole and he did completely waste a shot of the tournament with a par.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: So that was frustrating it was such a sick sick shot.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: Yep and then just a complete fan of the putter as was the case all week so that was the best thing I saw on property.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: Next best thing I saw MC I I ran into your mother and brother on the course unexpectedly so that was a nice treat seeing the Collins clan out there.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: I also I have to shout out Adam Shank this guy just what a professional this guy is he finished his round on 18 and if anybody was there if you got stuck behind the 18th green when you're trying to walk somewhere you were stuck for a good half hour you were just boned.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: Yes it was it was worse traffic than anywhere in Philadelphia that whole weekend and Adam Shank I got to see him shake every single worker's hands.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: He took his hat off looked him dead in the eye and shook their hand as if they were the president of the United States very proper.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: Nobody else did other guys were storming off the green a little bit a little bit upset.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: So Adam Shank, good on you the other takeaway I had from the week at in large the pace of play was an issue and there were several reasons for that we need to do something about aim point.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: For those that don't know aim point is basically a putting process where you get a specific measurement for exactly how much break you're going to play when you're about to hit a putt but you basically walk around like a clown around the whole green and feel it out with your feet and stick your fingers up in front of your face and do all these weird readings in hopes give in hopes to give you an exact measurement basically of how much break to play.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: Well what it does is it creates guys standing and walking around putting greens for 10 minutes before they putt.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: And I saw a group I don't remember who the third person was but I know Corey Connors was a guilty party and Adam Scott was a guilty party and whoever they were playing with the three of these bozos walked around the hole for eight minutes before putting and then all of them missed.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: So I would like to institute a rule and MC as a big golf guy I'd like to get your thoughts on this what do you think about if you do aim point inside of eight feet and miss the putt it's a one stroke penalty oh I love that that's awesome.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: I mean at the very least there's got to be some type of shot clock on on these guys and it's just you said it you look like a total clown it looks ridiculous you're it's disingenuous you're you're marking up the greens there's there's uh cleat marks all over the place now it's it's bad it's a bad situation it should be banned uh or at the very least put these guys on the clock completely agree I don't think we're gonna get them to sign up for the one stroke penalty that's a bit harsh but we need extreme measures to counteract this it's it's really brutal and then the other the last thing a highlight for me as I was following that Rom, Rory and speath pairing I was behind the eighth hole I was just standing with one of my buddies and a guy comes up next to me and asks if his girlfriend could stand in front of me because she was a lot shorter and I said yeah go right ahead and I noticed his accent he was an Irishman he's he's from the motherland so I said oh hey you're from Ireland and he said oh yeah yeah yeah I've fallen Rory and we got into a nice conversation and then as we were just chopping it up to our right right because right by that T-box there's the green that comes off of it to our right none other than Garek Higgo who's a big story this week he hits it along the green and has an impossible up and down.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: So he comes over and we're like oh look at this this is the guy who was late and we're cracking jokes.
- 39:58SPEAKER_02: He said what do you think uh do you think he should have been penalized I said it didn't help his case that he's this long haired laid back South African you know he's very laissez fair and he's like a surfer dude they hang loose man it's like so I don't think he was really I don't think he was really even caring that he was late but it was funny to see him and then he made a mess of this whole he tried to get up and down he hit it like 40 feet three putted disaster but it was it was funny to see Garek Higo in the flesh yeah that I mean that story was unbelievable uh and at the same time totally believable we we saw a little bit of this guy on uh on a little bit of Higgo on Tuesday and my mom was making fun of his hair and uh you know man bond and everything and then wouldn't you know it he goes out and misses his tea time on on Thursday and his uh his explanation for it put my brain in an in an absolute pretzel lack of explanation uh he said in back to back sentences I was late and I was on time yeah exactly he said if you're one second late uh he well he started off saying well yeah I I knew I was late of course I was late and it's my caddy was yelling that's my fault I knew I was late my caddy was yelling at me and he says if you're one second late then it's the same as being 10 minutes late so uh I was there at 719 and 30 seconds so if you really think about it I was on time I was like hold on hold on wait a second we just established your relations we just established your relations yeah what a what a shit show from him great content though in the name of content good job by you Garrick I think that's good for the PGA so shout out Aaron Rye Aaron Rye's forever a Philly legend now and just a quick warning shot to you American Ryder Cup fans we're taking over these majors they're ours now so the Europe's are gonna win all of them this year is my prediction we're two for two for the first time in forever on U.S.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: soil both of them we're heading home for the one in July I mean don't let us win the U.S.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: Open too so that's where we'll leave the golf conversation we have to get to America's sport.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: The NFL their schedule release took place last week boy oh boy am I not a fan of this how they're dragging it out now.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: It's taking a month of Sundays to get these games put on paper when we all know good and well what they're doing.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: They're squeezing every inch of content they can out of us and like suckers we're buying at hook line and sinker.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: Jeremy what are your thoughts on this overall schedule release process?
- 42:36SPEAKER_00: The NFL it's my favorite football is my favorite sport.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: I love the Eagles this obsession of the schedule release itself is very weird to me.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: It's just it's just bizarre.
- 42:47SPEAKER_00: It's like I mean cool yay we get to see what the schedule's gonna look like for next year.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: How is it such a big thing though?
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: Specifically obviously there are teams in Australia now which I if that's ever the Eagles I might pick another team that's just terrible but uh yeah there's just like it's these schedule releases are just so bizarre.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: It's like the social media teams are just making everything really weird.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: I don't get why they make it like a holiday it's just a schedule release.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: I know the NFL wants to take over 365 days a year.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: I get that but like this obsession to make these videos that release that are really corny and stupid are just so biz it's so bizarre to like me.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: And maybe it's like maybe it's they're trying to attract the casual fan and get more people into it.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: They probably are there's a reason why Godell makes 65 million dollars a year just on the likeness of the sport but it's it's too it's too much.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: It's too silly I don't know I I guess it makes money for the league but let's relax give me a little bit of a break from football especially from this content it just feels stupid.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: I don't know maybe I'm just being a curmudgeon but I want to hear what you guys have to say
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Now Jar, Jared, I totally agree.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: I don't understand it at all, really, to be totally honest.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: It feels like one of those things that is not for me.
- 44:13SPEAKER_02: Like it's for somebody else out there.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Somebody is enjoying this.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: I I just go on the ESPN app and and see, you know, what who the Eagles play week three.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean it is insane.
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: I remember when teams started to put out like the little videos of of their schedule.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: And it was it was cute at the time.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: It was niche when they were like little 30-second videos, little, you know, uh, and they might poke fun at at their uh opponents.
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: Now they're like 20 minutes.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I'm not watching this stuff, guys.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: Give me a break, get out of here.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Even the Eagles one, I didn't want I didn't watch that, and I probably won't.
- 44:50SPEAKER_02: Um, I will say, well, now we're talking schedule, and we have two Eagles fans on here.
- 44:57SPEAKER_02: The Eagles got absolutely boned in schedule, not not based on opponents, you know, you gotta beat the best to be the best.
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: But they're like they they play like what four or five Thursdays, uh two of which are Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: So you're ruining my two favorite holidays now, making me watch those losers.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: Um, and and so they have a short week that they then go to London after the short week, and it's like London.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it is unbelievable what they did to my boys, but but I guess that's what winners winners have to deal with, right?
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: Definitely.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: I couldn't even comment on what I thought of the schedule release before I had the show hijacked and taken down the Eagles' path.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: I knew it was coming, but MC, credit to him.
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: The smoothest transition you'll ever see out of the boy.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: So really, really good stuff.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: And and honestly, I didn't have much more to add anyway in terms of the schedule release.
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: I completely agree with your statement, MC.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: The not for me quote is exactly right.
- 46:08SPEAKER_01: It it again, it's not it's not for us, you know.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: As actual football fans, pardon me for expecting my team's schedule to be something I care about.
- 46:17SPEAKER_01: I guess that's on us, Roger and company.
- 46:20SPEAKER_01: We shouldn't care about it.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: Just tell me who I play the week before.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: But yeah, we've lost it.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: We we've lost it to the youths, the millennials, the tick tockers, the wiggle dickers.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: I don't know who took it over, but it's not for us anymore.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: And I blame the Tennessee Titans because I believe the first one of these that I saw that went viral years ago was them on Broadway just taking any drunk, any drunk from the street and just asking, hey, what does this logo look like?
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: And I don't know if these people were straight out of central casting or act paid actors or or whatnot, but they had never seen an NFL team or logo in their lives.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: They're saying the Bengals look like the jung jungle cats and the Panthers look like the blue kitties and all the all this fun stuff, and that went viral.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: And since then, we've now had these grand productions out of every team for the last five or six years.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: And I'm just I would just like to say no thanks.
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: I'd like to opt out.
- 47:17SPEAKER_00: It is so bad and such an insult to their diehard fans.
- 47:21SPEAKER_00: And it's not just them, I saw a few others too.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: It's so bad.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: But like, this is a team that's one Super Bowl.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: And it's just it's just such a dumb, like it's stop, stop overthinking.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: Just give us a schedule, put it in a post, team by team, by the date, by the time.
- 47:40SPEAKER_00: I it just go by that.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: We're we're we're going too far as a society.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we've the game's gone.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: We've lost we've lost it.
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: I don't think we have anything else to talk about in the NFL.
- 47:49SPEAKER_01: Do you guys?
- 47:50SPEAKER_01: I would uh maybe uh the Steelers signed a quarterback.
- 47:53SPEAKER_01: I don't think we really need to touch on him.
- 47:54SPEAKER_01: He he's pretty good, right?
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: A little bit of news.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: Does it does it does it excite you at all as a neutral to have Aaron Rodgers back for another year?
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: As someone who's not a Steelers fan, I guess I'm excited he's not my quarterback, but I think that's pretty simple.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, listen, it was it was it was a really bad draft class for the quarterback position, I think.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: So I don't mind the Steelers running it back with Rodgers, especially after I thought his return last year from his Jets days was pretty decent for his age and whatnot.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: So I don't mind them running it back another year with Rogers, trying to find something else next year, most likely.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: If he could stay healthy, you could do a lot worse at that position in the NFL.
- 48:37SPEAKER_00: So makes sense.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: The deal wasn't rushed, they did it a few days ago, mid-May.
- 48:42SPEAKER_00: So I get it, makes sense for both sides for the present and especially for the future.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: So I don't mind it.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: I'll always have fun watching them anyway, or at the very least, watching the media shitstorm that he brings along with him.
- 48:55SPEAKER_02: So it's it's good for the uh reality TV aspect of it.
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I can't believe the Steelers have made me pick between Aaron Rodgers and Drew Aller for who who is my quarterback this year.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: It's really tough stuff.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: Don't forget Will Howard.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Will Howard too.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: It seems like they don't care.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: They keep saying how much they love Will Howard.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: It just seems like they don't care about him since they just are doing anything they can to make sure he never sees the field.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: So I I I don't know, but that's a conversation for another day.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: We have a little new segment.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: We have two non-sports segments to round out the show.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: This one is it's come across our desk.
- 49:32SPEAKER_01: So just a few little tidbits that we'll quickly go through that have come across our desks and just give our immediate reactions to them.
- 49:39SPEAKER_01: I I'm gonna start with one that I ask the boys to do a little bit of research on.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: I I hope you guys are all familiar with Madeline Klein.
- 49:47SPEAKER_01: She, I believe, was made famous for her Outer Banks, I believe was the show.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: But she's been in the knives out a knives out movie.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: She's got some acting chops.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: And she's a looker.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: I think it's safe to say she's just a good-looking woman.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: I'm a fan of her acting, first and foremost, but I think it's safe to say she's a stunning woman.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: And it's come to my attention that she's dating a Labrador retriever named Henry.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: And this guy, he just goes by Henry, Henry, Henry in all caps on TikTok.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: And maybe this is once again, maybe it's not for me.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: Maybe I'm missing something here.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: But boys, this is tough stuff.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: Madeline Klein, it she can she can date whoever she pleases in this world.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: And I'm not saying it has to be me, but it certainly can't be this Henry Bozo.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: His content is some of the most embarrassing stuff I've ever seen on the internet.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: Credit to him, he's obviously huge, but I don't know how anybody could get through one of his videos without breaking out and laughing at him.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: And I'm I'm not trying to be a bull a cyberbully online here.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: It's just I don't know, I don't know how he got to this place where Madeline Klein is dating Henry, Henry, Henry, Henry.
- 50:54SPEAKER_02: He's Henry as many times as you'll allow him to be Henry.
- 50:57SPEAKER_02: Henry, Henry, Henry, Henry, Henry, Henry, Henry, Henry.
- 50:59SPEAKER_02: Uh I you you had me look him up.
- 51:02SPEAKER_02: I genuinely, this is another thing.
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: I just I don't I don't get it at all.
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: I genuinely don't understand what what's going on.
- 51:10SPEAKER_02: I watched a couple of his things and I was like, what what like what is this?
- 51:15SPEAKER_02: So I mean he seems like a a nice enough guy, I suppose.
- 51:20SPEAKER_02: He seems seems like a decent time, but uh a goofball, like you said, and yeah, he she could dare I say she could do better.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: No, that's the whole entire crux of my argument.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: That it's unbelievable that and look at he's a good-looking guy.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: He seems like he's tall, strong.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: Guys, he he is a cringe fest of content.
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: I I can't get through 15 seconds.
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know what he's doing on camera.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: I I don't I just don't get it.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: He's he's like an actual puppy.
- 51:55SPEAKER_01: I guess that's what girls are into these days.
- 51:57SPEAKER_01: Madeline, I expected just a little bit more from you.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: I thought you had a more refined palate.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: Collins took the words out of my mouth.
- 52:03SPEAKER_00: I don't get it.
- 52:04SPEAKER_00: It kind of reminds me of how you see a lot of girls at SEC schools dating guys who wouldn't expect them to date for the worse.
- 52:12SPEAKER_00: And that's what this reminded me of.
- 52:14SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know, maybe I should change my name to Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy.
- 52:18SPEAKER_00: You, Sean, Sean, Sean, Michael, Michael, Michael.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's the key, but I don't get it.
- 52:24SPEAKER_00: Different generation, maybe on this one too.
- 52:26SPEAKER_00: But yeah, that's that's interesting.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the other thing that's come across all of our desks, it is the new Gracie Abrams single and album announcement.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: As we have teased here on the Torture Fans Department for a while, we finally got the official announcement.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: I believe it's July 19th, is the date.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: Jeremy hit the wall.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: The new single is out now.
- 52:47SPEAKER_01: What were your thoughts on it?
- 52:49SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna say, boy, oh boy, I'm I'm so excited for the album after hearing this one.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: Me too.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: I'm always I'm usually hesitant with new music, not because I'm a tough critic, but just because we've never heard it before.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: You get cons you never know like what you're gonna think.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: Uh and it changed it's technically changed, and it sometimes changes hard.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, I thought the song was very good.
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: The vocals I thought get right into it, no wasted time.
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: It felt fast-paced, but still at the same time relaxing.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: Great balance between that.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: I don't know if people know what I mean when I say that, but I know what I mean.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: So I liked it.
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: Um, it was a great song, and hopefully uh it's a good uh preview to the album.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: I'm sure it is.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: Um again, just like really easy music that is just fun, fun listen, and you know, a very good time.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: So I liked it.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, great, great sounding song.
- 53:40SPEAKER_02: Uh very, very boppy, if I do say so.
- 53:44SPEAKER_02: Uh wouldn't expect anything less from her.
- 53:47SPEAKER_02: Um, nice little way to start off uh this this new album.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: And if as a whole, if it's anything similar to Secret of Us, we're in for our a big time trick.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wanted to ask you.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: We we have the artwork for the album and the name Daughter from Hell, and it's some interesting artwork.
- 54:06SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the font of her name and the title on there.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: It looks like just Times New Roman 12 for some reason.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: It it's smacked in the middle of the picture.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: So I'm not so sure I'm a fan of that.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: But like you said, the leadoff single, it's it usually sets the tone.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: That is the first track on the album as well.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: So I think we're gonna be in for just another summer of Gracie.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it does, it does look slightly lacking creativity, uh, but yeah, there the the music most certainly is not.
- 54:38SPEAKER_02: So that's that's what really matters.
- 54:40SPEAKER_02: Daughter from Hell, shout out to JJ, man.
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: He's writing those writing those Star Wars boys up.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: Jeremy, what did you have for us that came across your desk this week?
- 54:49SPEAKER_00: I'm a little late to this, I guess.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: I saw, I guess, maybe a preview, a little snippet, maybe a minute of Shrek 5 coming out in 2027.
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: Um, boys, I didn't know there was a Shrek 4.
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: I don't think I knew there was a Shrek 3, although maybe I did.
- 55:07SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, I guess StreamWorks has made a lot of money.
- 55:11SPEAKER_00: Kind of crazy how much money they've made off of ogres, but um good for Shrek.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: I guess if they're pushing on 25 plus years, a fifth movie.
- 55:20SPEAKER_00: I'll try to watch it, but now I gotta catch up on four now.
- 55:23SPEAKER_00: But uh five, that feels like a big deal.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: Sounds a little bit like the operation they have going on in uh in uh West London, North London for for that Tottenham hotspur, just making money off ogres.
- 55:36SPEAKER_02: Man, it's it's tough scene up there.
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: And I got my directional London wrong at first, so that's not a good start.
- 55:45SPEAKER_02: I do, you know what?
- 55:46SPEAKER_02: Uh I do remember all the way to they called it Shrek the Third.
- 55:51SPEAKER_02: I was did not know that there was a fourth, but God, that I remember there were like little kids, they gotta be in college by now.
- 55:59SPEAKER_01: I want to say Shrek the Third came out when we were still in school because I believe we went to see that as a field trip.
- 56:04SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: Maybe that was Shrek 2, though.
- 56:06SPEAKER_01: I I it's a true who could say.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: I will say, Jeremy, you putting this on my radar, it reminded me to bring up something that is of note for this podcast.
- 56:16SPEAKER_01: There's some buzz that was generated because there was a countdown on Miss Taylor Swift's website a couple weeks ago.
- 56:23SPEAKER_01: A lot of people have been speculating it has something to do with Toy Story.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: Apparently, there was some similarities in the pictures used.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: I I've lost track of all the Taylor Swift Easter eggs.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: I don't play that game anymore.
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not for me.
- 56:35SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm just a fan of the music.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: However, I will say one of the working theories is that since Mr.
- 56:42SPEAKER_01: and Mrs.
- 56:43SPEAKER_01: Potato Head, the voice actors, have passed away, there's a working theory that Taylor and Travis will be voicing them in the upcoming Toy Story 5.
- 56:51SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 56:52SPEAKER_02: How does that sound?
- 56:53SPEAKER_02: I haven't heard of that.
- 56:55SPEAKER_02: Uh that that would be interesting.
- 56:59SPEAKER_02: I would have to hear how they are.
- 57:01SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 57:02SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 57:03SPEAKER_02: Just listening to listening to new heights and Mr.
- 57:07SPEAKER_01: Potato Head is an is an oaf who sounds like an idiot.
- 57:10SPEAKER_01: True.
- 57:11SPEAKER_00: I think that one's good.
- 57:13SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say that.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say for Travis, that's terrific.
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: For Taylor, for Mrs.
- 57:17SPEAKER_00: Potato Head.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, would they essentially be like brand new characters?
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: Because Mrs.
- 57:24SPEAKER_02: Potato Head, she was kind of overbearing a bit.
- 57:28SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 57:29SPEAKER_02: She was she was she was a little bit abusive to try to keep it.
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know.
- 57:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 57:37SPEAKER_01: I I I'm just interested in the theory, so I I I saw some speculation about that.
- 57:42SPEAKER_01: A lot of people thought it might be a song or something that Taylor would do.
- 57:45SPEAKER_01: That's the natural jump.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: But then it's been floated online now that there is two openings available, and one seems like Travis has been method acting as Mr.
- 57:54SPEAKER_01: for for years.
- 57:55SPEAKER_01: That's I feel like that's an easy step for him.
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: It's just can Taylor pull off misses.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: She's more of a bow peep, I think.
- 58:08SPEAKER_01: She does, she does scream bow peep.
- 58:13SPEAKER_02: Uh well, good stuff there.
- 58:15SPEAKER_02: Gosh, good that that was not on my radar, but it sure is now.
- 58:19SPEAKER_02: One thing that did come across my desk this week, for better or for worse, uh, and I feel as part of the Tortured Fans community that this was necessary to bring up, and maybe we could stomp this, squash the bug while we have the chance.
- 58:35SPEAKER_02: I'm hearing that Amazon's Alexa, uh, if you've heard of her, uh, she's now putting together or generating some type of AI type podcast.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm not like all that familiar with the ins and outs of it, but from the sounds of it, you let Alexa know what your interests are and just say, play me, uh, you know, play me a podcast type thing that you can that we'll talk about this.
- 59:06SPEAKER_02: And I did hear a clip of of a few people discussing music, as a matter of fact, and it sounded very real.
- 59:15SPEAKER_02: Uh, it sounded just like a few of us, but turn up the intelligence even a little a little higher, which isn't hard to do with the the two guests that you chose tonight, Sean.
- 59:25SPEAKER_02: But this is certainly a disruptor in in the market as as far as the Torture Fans pod goes.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: And I think something that needs to be monitored, keep an eye on on Amazon.
- 59:37SPEAKER_02: Uh, they they might be kicking us to the curb.
- 59:42SPEAKER_01: That's tough to hear.
- 59:43SPEAKER_01: I the last thing we need is more saturation in this market.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: There's there's podcasts for everything.
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: We're competing with everybody here now.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: Now Alexa's got one too.
- 59:52SPEAKER_01: Jesus.
- 59:53SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't want that.
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: I don't like hearing that.
- 59:56SPEAKER_01: I don't think they can recreate the magic we have here in this room, and that's what I'm gonna hang my hat on.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_01: Is that what the three of us put our minds to it?
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_01: We we're we're smarter than that little robot, and we're certainly funnier because you like you said, MC, they might have us in terms of intelligence and how they sound in terms of breaking down music or whatever the case may be.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: They they can't give you off the cuff one-liners like we could.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_02: They'll never get my mind, they'll never get my soul, they'll never get my Jeremy good.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_01: That's on Q.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: You can't deliver, you can't deliver bread and butter or Hot Springs, Arkansas, like the tortured fans.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: So I'm taking this group any day of the week.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_00: Disturbing though.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's I mean, AI, they're uh just another thing they check off the list.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_02: And listen, we've dedicated this year, this entire calendar year, to to figuring out who who is AI, what who is the answer, uh is he you know what's what's he up to?
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_02: Is he stealing money?
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_02: Uh and are they stealing podcast listeners?
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_02: Now we need the answer to step up.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this is the year of the answer, and and I I don't think we're doing a great job of nailing that running laps around us officially.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it seemed uh fast is fast skill alive.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: It's it's that sort of thing.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_01: It's like from super bad.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_01: It's fast alive.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_01: I I I don't I don't know what to do.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: I've got we're we're out of answers here, the tortured fans for AI.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: So we we don't need any more podcast competitors, we don't need any more artificial intelligence.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: Why don't we round out the show here with the return of fair or foul?
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_01: We debuted this last week with Blum.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_01: We had some good feedback about it.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: So Jeremy did some heavy lifting and put a lot of topics in the dock.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_01: I believe you did as well, MC.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: Great job by you both.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna I'm gonna throw the reins your way.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: So why don't you kick us off with fair or foul?
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_00: Um first one, very topical for us for the PJ Championship.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_00: You know, they sell they sell the flags at these tournaments.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_00: Great for autographs.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_00: But my my fair foul, my first one is should adults be getting autographs at prof of professional golfers at these events?
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_00: I've got some thoughts, but I want to hear from you guys.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_00: What do we think?
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_00: Should adults be seeking autographs from these professional golfers, or is it just a kid's game?
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's it's yeah, it's most certainly foul uh from my from where I'm standing, uh, especially considering I think a large percentage of those adults are just trying to turn around and like sell them on the internet.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_02: So that is incredibly foul.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_02: I don't really understand the autograph market uh as a whole.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_02: I never was like uh appealed to having somebody scribble on a piece of paper or something for me.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_02: I much, you know, if you're if you're able to grab a picture or something with them, then that's really cool.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_02: But uh autographs are are not for me.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_02: They truly are Jared, like you said, they truly are for the kids.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_02: Like let's, you know, it's it's a big deal for a kid to have a professional athlete come up and sign something of theirs.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_02: So let's let's keep it that way.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_02: Let's not ruin another great thing that that once was for the children.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_01: Yep, I would just co-sign what MC said there.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: Just uh I it's gross if you're autograph hawking, especially around kids.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_01: I I uh taken away.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: It's gross.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_00: So I'll I'll just say I agree with you guys.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: I was never gonna be the one to break that, of course.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_00: I did buy me a little flag at the PJ Championship, and I wasn't gonna get autographs because I didn't want to be that adult.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_00: The only defense I'll say for some of the adults, if you want to put in like a man cave or your basement, it would look cool.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_00: I do feel bad for the fans who like would want something like that.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_00: Not that bad enough for them to do it, but like I can understand that side of it, but yeah, it's it's for the characters.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_02: I almost think I almost think a clean flag with no autographs looks cooler in in a basement or a man cave as is.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_02: You know, like you're you're like, oh yeah, that's uh you know, that's Adam Schenk, and that's uh you know, that's Garr Higo, and oh that one over there, that's Justin Thomas.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_02: But it's like, oh, okay, so you got what a top 20 golfer on here and a couple of like bombs.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_01: Well, to go against MC, so it doesn't sound like an echo chamber here.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_01: I actually I I collect golf flags for all the tournaments I've been to, as MC knows, he actually got me one from the PGA because I wasn't sure if I would be going.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_01: But I only have two that are autographed, and I didn't get the autographs myself, so that's where I think the distinction is.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: I acquire them through different means.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_01: So I I don't think I would never be in person asking for an autograph from another man or woman, but I think I can make an exception.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: Ever heard of the guy Jordan Spieth?
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: I have his on a pebble beach flag, so of course I'm gonna have Jordo up on the wall and then Collins.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_01: I have a Rasmus and Nikolai Huygart signed flag.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_01: I think that's pretty cool, no.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: That is cool.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_02: That is cool.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_02: I don't mean to I don't mean to totally decimate like anyone who has an autographed item.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_02: Uh I it's sounded like it.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_02: All right, you know what?
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_02: I'll I'll double down on it.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_02: That sucks.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_02: It all sucks.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_01: Uh well, I think that does bring up another similar fair or foul topic.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_01: So why don't we just move on to that one?
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_02: Right along right alongside that uh that kind of that kind of spearheaded this into my brain here.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_02: Just in general, at a baseball game, foul ball or home run ball into the stands, the the culture or uh the atmosphere.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_02: That follow catching that foul ball or that home run ball.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_02: If you're an an adult who is uh, you know, there Zach Campbell is is the uh very popular mainstream one.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_02: He kind of goes around and and makes a living out of just catching foul balls, home runs.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_02: And if you're you're like, yeah, you're knocking kids over and everything, to me, that's foul.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_02: I think anything besides catching a ball and finding the the nearest little kid and and give gifting that ball to them, anything besides that to me is foul.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_02: If you're someone who's bringing your glove to the game, then get a life.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it should look like an Andre Johnson touchdown celebration.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_01: Just toss the ball to the ref, just catch it and toss it to the nearest kid.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_01: And if you want to work on a little pitch and catch with the kid and make sure, like, hey, hey, kid, you dropped it, hand it to the next kid.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_01: I'm fine with that too.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_01: You could you own the ball in terms of which kid to give it to, but you're giving it to a kid or woman at her first ball game immediately.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you could, and like I'll tell you what, you can even have your moment.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_02: You can you can celebrate high fives with the boys, fist pumps all around, chug your beer for all I care.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_02: Chug that thing, yeah, and then find the nearest kid and give them the ball.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_00: What do you want with that baseball?
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm maybe I'm biased because I got a foul ball when I was a kid, and that was enough for me.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_00: But I but I agree with you guys.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_00: You cannot keep a foul ball when you're an adult, it looks really dumb.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_00: Give it to a kid, it's easy enough.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_00: They're in every game.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_00: You'll feel good about yourself too, but like it looks so stupid if you're an adult and you get a ball and you keep it.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_00: Like it just looks so dumb.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_00: And I I would never want to be that guy, so uh, gotta give it up.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_00: Now, if it's a if it's like a first home run and of a player and you know you're gonna get something in return for the team.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_02: There are exceptions to the rule, of course.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_02: Of course there are exceptions to the rule.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_02: Big but uh big home run in the playoffs or something like that.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but yeah.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_01: Or like anything else, give give it up, without a doubt.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_01: A quick side story from uh a friend of ours.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I told you guys this, but I went to one Phillies game so far this year and we sat right behind the Cubs dugout, and Dansby Swanson threw a ball directly at our mutual friend Matt Kleinfelter.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_01: And this guy absolutely it was a soft serve ice cream, and this guy absolutely bungled it.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_01: He he booted it like Buckner in the World Series, and it just squorted over it.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_01: Thankfully, it went to our friend's girlfriend who was attending her first game ever, and she just picked it up.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_01: But oh my god, I wish I I wish to God this was on video somewhere.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_01: I looked everywhere to see if you could see it in camera shot at the end of the inning.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_01: It was absolutely disgusting in performance.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: But I know that my point that relates back to this, I know for a fact if he caught that ball, that was going right in his pocket.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_01: That's the kind of guy Matt Cleinfelt is.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_00: So well, speaking speaking of Toy Story, too.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_00: If they need a dinosaur T-Rex, we know who to cut that.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_00: That is something Matt would do and disappointing.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, I would have paid money to see him boot that ball.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_01: I I should have said there was a lot of buzz, no pun intended, about Taylor being Mrs.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_01: Potato Head.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_01: But the best guy AI would have got that on the spot.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_01: Alexa had that one.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_00: What else do we have in Fairfell?
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_00: I was at a restaurant over the weekend, no names, Boromini.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_00: And uh you cannot do any substitutes at this place.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_00: Some of these nicer restaurants, you want shrimp scampi, it's just a shrimp.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_00: You want you want them to add like spaghetti pasta, like a regular shrimp scampi.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_00: Can't do it.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_00: And there was just like, it just feels like what do we think about not being able to substitute?
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_00: Like maybe you don't want tomatoes on your sandwich.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe you'd uh I don't know, you don't want mushrooms or you want to add like protein like chicken.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_00: And do you is that okay?
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_00: Or what what are our thoughts on a fair or alcohol?
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_02: I think Jared, I think that's very fair on on your part as the customer to to to want the substitutions.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_02: I think there's no problem with asking for a little little extra pasta, a little hold the mushrooms for me, if you don't mind.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_02: It's like they ask you every time you sit down if there are any uh any uh allergies or um dietary restrictions or anything like that.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_02: I almost want to start being like, yeah, I have a dietary restriction that you need to give me extra food, as a matter of fact, please.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_00: I I actually tell I tell restaurants that I'm highly allergic to mushrooms.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_00: I'm not, just to make sure that like the dishes if I if there are mushrooms in it, they don't serve it.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_00: I'm not, but like, yeah, so a little hack on the pot for you listeners.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_00: Things you don't get from AI.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_01: You can't get that anywhere else.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_01: Telling the telling the wait staff you're allergic to mushrooms.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_01: Jeremy's coming to town and he he can't have mushrooms anywhere near him.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_01: So um, I'm gonna zag on this one.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_01: I think I think it's fair if you're at a high-end establishment.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_01: Let me preface it with this.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_01: If you're at a high-end establishment and the chef knows what he's doing, I think it's fair for him or her to be like, hey, no, this is my menu.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_01: You chose to eat here.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_01: That's how you're gonna have it tonight.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_01: And if you don't like it, piss off.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_01: Now, I will say the pressure of the meal being good goes up exponentially.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_01: But hey, find something you like on the menu or choose somewhere else to eat is kind of how I see it.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_01: Jeremy, suck it up and eat a mushroom.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_01: It tastes like nothing.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_01: I don't like them either.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_01: But if a chef says you gotta eat it, eat it.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm not the biggest mushroom guy, but I'll do it.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_00: I get that with like a sauce.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_00: Like if you want a pesto and it's better with a vodka sauce, like I get that.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_00: Like the chef knows, but I wanted a Caesar salad and I wanted to add protein to it.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_00: I wanted to get grilled chicken.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, grilled chicken, and they said and they said, We can't do that, it's just a Caesar.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_00: I go, that's kind of weird because you guys would make more money if I add the chicken to it.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_00: Yes, exactly.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_00: That's how I buy them.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I that's I was picking up what you were putting down there, Jared.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_02: Like, same as like a really nice Italian restaurant, Penne vodka or something.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_02: Toss a little chicken on there for the boy.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, why why can't you do that?
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_02: I know you got chicken back there.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think we're on the same page then.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_01: I agree with that.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's crazy that you can't add something for an extra charge.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_01: I think that's that's ridiculous.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I add a couple if you want to rip through them real quick.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_02: Uh let's start with when you're at a uh a casual dining fast casual, you get a complimentary water cup and you got a self-serve um self-serve soda fountain, fair or foul, to maybe maybe you have one glass of water, and then second time up, you get a you get a little Coke Zero in there.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_01: I think I say what I do, my my method is I'm gonna be totally transparent.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_01: I've done it.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_01: I've done I've double dipped and I've and I've loaded up on something other than water.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_01: Now, let me say this.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_01: I am predominantly a water drinker.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_01: I really don't care for soda.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_01: Like you won't catch me drinking soda often, if ever.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_01: But what I do almost every time I get the water, it's always I talk about Chipotle specifically, because that's pretty much the only one of these that I go to.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_01: That they have the lemonade and water in the same spigot, and you just need to press down for water and push from it.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_01: I like to get a hint of lemonade in each cup.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_01: It's like a little lemonade and then really water it down.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_01: But it is technically stealing each time.
- 1:13:47SPEAKER_00: It is technically stealing, yeah.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is a Chipotle rule for me.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_00: Uh, it's foul, but I respect it for the people who do it, so kind of fair, I guess, in some ways.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, and I mean like I always feel like I could fall back on it, slip down.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_02: Like I didn't mean for it to be like.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_02: Listen, that's my bad.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_02: I thought I ordered this.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_02: Uh I'm always like, I'll I and I agree with you, Sean.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm normally drinking the water, so I'll I'll fill up the water, drink it with my food, and then as I'm going back to toss my drink out, maybe maybe splash, maybe a mug root beer, just a sip, just a sip.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just to make sure it's good for them.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I don't want the next guy getting a bad card.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_01: Get the clogs out.
- 1:14:36unknown: All right.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_01: That's a good one.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_01: I think that's right in the spirit of the segment here.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_02: How about this?
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_02: This one I I don't know where I stand, really.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_02: Reclining uh your seat on a flight.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_02: Fair foul.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_01: So foul.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_01: If you recline your seat, you deserve to be actually air-marshalled off the plane.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_01: There it provides no relief.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_01: Those extra that extra inch and a half that you get when you kick back provides nothing to you, and it is one of the bigger inconveniences ever for the person behind you.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_01: I'm not comfortable on flights to begin with.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_01: I sometimes rest my head on the seat above me.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_01: If that thing's reclined back, oh my god.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_01: Disaster.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_01: I I I would be I'd be inclined to start a brawl.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_01: So please, I'm I'm out.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_01: That's foul for me.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_02: See, this is, I guess, where I where I don't understand as a as a short guy myself, because I actually didn't like uh for me at least, I'm I'm sure it's totally different for you.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_02: Uh the res the seat in front of me being reclined does not alter my experience too much, besides the putting your head on the on the back of the chair, because that I do do that, and that is very annoying.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_02: But uh yeah, no, I agree.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_02: I just just out of uh fear of like a socially awkward inner encounter, I never reclined mine either.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_00: It's foul.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_00: I thought I was gonna be the only one, so I'm comforted by that.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_00: If no one reclined, everyone would be happy too.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_00: It's an easy fix.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_00: Like just don't recline.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_02: Everyone reclined, then would everyone be happy too?
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_02: Touche.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_02: I don't think it does.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_01: I don't think it makes an impact on me like when I'm reclined.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_01: I don't think there's a positive enough gain from that to outweigh the potential disruption of the person behind me.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_00: I always get scared that my chair isn't going to recline up when they ask you to when you're landing.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_00: I don't want to get yelled at by uh attendant or a stewardess, so uh I never recline for that reason.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_00: But yeah.
- 1:16:42SPEAKER_01: While we're on this topic, can I squeeze another quick one in?
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, of course.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_01: Is it okay to not put your phone on airplane mode ever?
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_01: Because I'm texting like, well, we're in the air.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_02: I mean, my my I can the way the current state of my phone, I can't even send texts uh if I have proper service and I'm four feet on the ground.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_02: Uh but yeah, no, I I'm not going on airplane mode if I can have anything to to do about it.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_00: If if the difference between the plane not operating correctly because of my phone being not on it or not being on airplane mode, we got bigger issues than my phone being on airplane mode.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_00: So figure it out on your end.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_00: I uh yeah, I stay off airplane mode.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I just want to make sure I wasn't.
- 1:17:31SPEAKER_02: No, I mean I totally agree.
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_02: Like the the the wives tale surrounding that was that it like messes with the plane signal.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_02: There's just no way.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_02: It's too it's 2026, and I feel the same way.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_02: Let me say this.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_02: I feel the same way people say you have to turn your car off when you fill it with gas.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_02: It's just not true.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_02: You can you can fill your car off.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_02: No, it's not, Jar.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_02: These cars, they're not exploding, I promise you.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_01: It's it's the old wives tale is a perfect, it's like myth legend.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_01: It's like when our parents told us when we were growing up that you can't have the internal light in the car on because the cops will pull you over.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_01: That's that's total bullshit.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_01: That is total bullshit.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_01: You can have that thing on for hours.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_01: Cops don't give a fuck about that.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's not even illegal.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_01: Or you have to wait 30 minutes to swim after you eat.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_01: Bullshit.
- 1:18:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, swim free.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_00: Or you can't put you can't put metal in a microwave.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, just getting out of that one.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_00: That's a good one.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_00: That's a good one.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_00: He's dubbed us in our tracks.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_00: It's a good one.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_00: I hope I'm not uh going back in time.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_00: I have another one, it's about the planes and reclining.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_00: If you and hear me out, if someone asks you, can they recline their chair?
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_00: Do you have the ability to say no?
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_00: Or do you have to say yes?
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say yes because I'm I'm just not gonna say no.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm too.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_00: It's it's a trap.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna hate that person.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_02: Right, exactly.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_02: I'll I'm gonna say yes and motherfuck you under my breath.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm just too non-confrontational to tell a stranger no, you can't do something.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_01: It's like the it's like the age-world argument if somebody brings you the wrong order at a restaurant, are you gonna send it back?
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_01: I'm never sending it back.
- 1:19:21SPEAKER_02: Of course not.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's foul.
- 1:19:23SPEAKER_01: I've I've been out and gotten something totally different than what I ordered, and I just sat there and was like, oh, this is what I'm having now.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_01: That's just how I'm not gonna confront you.
- 1:19:33SPEAKER_00: I'm probably the same case unless it's mushrooms.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_00: We're sending that back.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_00: Let me tell you.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_00: I I have the crowd scared.
- 1:19:46SPEAKER_02: What's our last one?
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_02: I had I had one more written down.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_02: I've been told that I'm on the wrong side of this, uh, and it has turned contentious in in some scenarios.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_02: When you're taking your dog on a walk, it is now I will preface and say this is trash pickup day, or possibly the day or night before trash is about to be picked up, and you have uh a bag of dog poop with you.
- 1:20:16SPEAKER_02: Can you or can you not, fair or foul, dropping said poop bag into a neighbor's trash can?
- 1:20:25SPEAKER_02: This is already an already full trash can.
- 1:20:27SPEAKER_02: It's about to get picked up in less than 24 hours, more likely less than 12 hours, it's getting picked up.
- 1:20:35SPEAKER_02: I contend that's fair game.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_02: Trash is trash.
- 1:20:39SPEAKER_02: It's it's on its way out, it's out, it's out the door already.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_01: I I think that's fair.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_01: I've done this as well.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I've I've perpetrated this exact act.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_01: Sometimes, yeah, like I've been calling it.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_01: What does it matter?
- 1:20:52SPEAKER_01: In my opinion.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't I don't think that's I think that's uncalled for.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_01: I think I think I think maybe she's looking for a reason, you know?
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_01: Something else is going on, yeah.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it could be Yeah, I don't think that I just don't think it impacts anybody in that situation.
- 1:21:13SPEAKER_00: Not only is it fair, it would be fair if trash day was six days away and there was nothing in the trash man.
- 1:21:19SPEAKER_00: No, it's just fair.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_01: Like well, they needed the trash bag for they needed the trash can for something else.
- 1:21:25SPEAKER_01: Maybe they're picking up leaves that week or something and they're using that as a vehicle.
- 1:21:29SPEAKER_02: I I don't quite agree.
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_02: You can't you can't have your dog's poops in somebody's uh somebody else's trash can for multiple days.
- 1:21:37SPEAKER_02: I I think there has to be I start my week with one for their trash can.
- 1:21:43SPEAKER_02: We do live in a society.
- 1:21:44SPEAKER_00: I will say even though it's fair, I wouldn't want it to happen to me, but it's still fair, I guess.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't I wouldn't mind.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_02: I think my trash is your trash.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_02: I don't think you even know that one point Colin is making if it's yeah, I wouldn't.
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't I wouldn't I really wouldn't I really wouldn't care.

- 1:22:59SPEAKER_01: Whether you've been there or not, you knew some talking points for a city, not like some of the other guys on that draft where they just said the name of it and moved on.
