- 1:50Speaker 1: DELI dally, don't delay. I gotta go back and change
- 1:55Speaker 1: a couple of picks. Now that I look at my picks.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You probably shouldn't do that, and you definitely shouldn't listen
- 2:02Speaker 1: to how I.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Do it, because I'm just getting killed.
- 2:04Speaker 1: This year, Friday's Fareless Football Forecast Contest, a division of
- 2:08Speaker 1: Sports Talk America's most loved football Pickum Contest, is presented
- 2:14Speaker 1: every day by Swernaman Flooring and Chad Jones. Law mentioned
- 2:21Speaker 1: this in the first hour, but Marcel Reid is one
- 2:24Speaker 1: of thirteen finalists for the Maxwell Award, given to the
- 2:28Speaker 1: top offensive player in college football every year.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Nine of the thirteen are quarterbacks.
- 2:35Speaker 1: My guess is you could name every one of them
- 2:39Speaker 1: if you follow college football. The bed Narick Award is
- 2:43Speaker 1: given to the top defensive player. Cashus Howell's name is
- 2:48Speaker 1: on that list.
- 2:49Speaker 4: I can't count those two.
- 2:51Speaker 6: Four, six, eight, ten, twelve, fourteen to six.
- 2:54Speaker 1: There's seventeen of those. Let's see trying to see how
- 3:05Speaker 1: many secs one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, seven
- 3:17Speaker 1: are SEC players. Howell has also been named one of
- 3:21Speaker 1: eight semi finalists for the Ronnie Lott Impact Trophy that
- 3:28Speaker 1: will The finalists will be announced next Thursday. The award
- 3:35Speaker 1: will be given out December the seventh. It's not part
- 3:39Speaker 1: of that ESPN Award show, which means I like this award.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Impact acronym for integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community, tenacity, named
- 3:53Speaker 1: after Ronnie Lott. Ho Else tied for third in the
- 3:58Speaker 1: nation in sacks, first in the SA with ten and
- 4:01Speaker 1: a half, and he's.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Had a decent little year.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Camberon Dickie, Texas Tech running back has been named the
- 4:11Speaker 1: Tyler or Earl Campbell Tyler Rose National Player of the Year.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'm not sure when we vote on that final award.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I turned in my four semi finalists today for the
- 4:26Speaker 1: Lombardi Trophy, which is given out in Houston every year
- 4:31Speaker 1: in December.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I will go over those.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Win the semifinalists are named, Okay, I will tell you that.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Then it's just so much fun watching LSU from a distance.
- 4:53Speaker 1: LSU don't want to pay Brian Kelly fifty four million dollars.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Brian Kelly wants fifty four million dollars, and so now
- 5:02Speaker 1: the lawyers are involved and they're going to get most
- 5:05Speaker 1: of the money. I'm guessing We've got two really good
- 5:11Speaker 1: basketball games tonight involving SEC teams, actually three. First one
- 5:19Speaker 1: at six o'clock is Florida State, Florida. Second one is
- 5:23Speaker 1: Kentucky Louisville. That's at seven o'clock on ESPN. The late
- 5:28Speaker 1: one on SEC network is Memphis at Ole Miss. The
- 5:33Speaker 1: Aggies play Friday night. They're hosting Central Florida. I suspect
- 5:42Speaker 1: they will be better than they were Sunday afternoon at
- 5:45Speaker 1: Oklahoma State. Just a guess, but I'm thinking they will
- 5:49Speaker 1: be a couple of.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Yeah. I'm getting to that. That's okay.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'm glad you're keeping me honest. Texas Tech and Illinois
- 5:58Speaker 1: play tonight. Caleb just reminded me of that that's on
- 6:02Speaker 1: FS one at six thirty or seven thirty. Caleb, I
- 6:09Speaker 1: get all these Eastern and Central times confused.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Okay, seven thirty.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Tech in Illinois, the late game on ESPN, Creighton and
- 6:17Speaker 1: good Zaga. So we've got some good hoops coming up.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I tell people this every year. You know, used to
- 6:26Speaker 1: Thanksgiving weekend was all about college football. Well, unfortunately the
- 6:30Speaker 1: pros have taken over Thanksgiving Day. They've screwed everything up.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So we've got to get You have games on Friday,
- 6:36Speaker 1: which sucks. A and M and Texas should not be
- 6:41Speaker 1: playing on Friday. Okay, they should either be playing Thanksgiving
- 6:46Speaker 1: or they should be playing on Saturday, but not on Friday.
- 6:49Speaker 6: All right.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I said that when they announced it. I stand by it,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and I mean what I say, and I say what
- 6:59Speaker 1: I mean, and they should not be playing on Friday.
- 7:04Speaker 4: College football. I know that NFL is the gorilla.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I get it, but you know what, the ratings of
- 7:10Speaker 1: college football are pretty good and I'm not the TV
- 7:16Speaker 1: guy and they control everything, but we should still be
- 7:20Speaker 1: playing college football on Thanksgiving. Some of the great college
- 7:24Speaker 1: football games ever have been on Thanksgiving, and that's when
- 7:27Speaker 1: the game should be played period. How did I get
- 7:31Speaker 1: off on that? By the way, I know, Alabama Auburn
- 7:36Speaker 1: the ironbul is always Thanksgiving weekend, that Saturday.
- 7:39Speaker 4: I'm reading a book on the Iron.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Bowl right now in the history of Alabama Auburn, and
- 7:43Speaker 1: we're efforting that author probably that week. Okay, well it's
- 7:51Speaker 1: a short week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of Thanksgiving. So I'm
- 7:56Speaker 1: looking at this and we're going to hear from Kirby
- 7:59Speaker 1: here in a minute. Lane Kiffin said this week he
- 8:03Speaker 1: thinks dynasties are over. He said, I don't think we're
- 8:07Speaker 1: going to see like an Alabama dynasty a Georgia dynasty anymore,
- 8:13Speaker 1: because of nil and how college football has changed.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Here's Georgia since twenty twenty one.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Okay, their dynasty, I would argue, is not quite over yet.
- 8:28Speaker 4: And if Alabama.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Goes to the playoffs, which you know there's a high
- 8:34Speaker 1: percentage Alabama is going to go to the playoffs and
- 8:38Speaker 1: win a couple of games, I would argue that maybe
- 8:42Speaker 1: we know that Nick Saban dynasty is over right, that ended,
- 8:47Speaker 1: but we'll see the next couple of three years. Okay,
- 8:51Speaker 1: Georgia is sixty one and six since twenty twenty one.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Hear what I said, there's sixty one and six.
- 9:03Speaker 1: They have won thirty nine of their last forty two
- 9:07Speaker 1: regular season games. They're the only the fourth team to
- 9:15Speaker 1: repeat as champs. Since nineteen ninety, Smart has gone forty
- 9:24Speaker 1: one and seventeen against ranked teams and won all eight
- 9:30Speaker 1: of his home games versus top ten teams, which means Alabama,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I guess, was not in the top ten when they
- 9:37Speaker 1: when they went to Georgia and one earlier this year. Caleb,
- 9:40Speaker 1: that's got to be the case, right, They were not
- 9:43Speaker 1: yet they were because they had lost well, yes, they
- 9:46Speaker 1: had lost Florida State in the opener, so they were
- 9:48Speaker 1: not in the top ten when they won at Georgia,
- 9:53Speaker 1: they were seventeen. They into Georgia's thirty three game home Winnsday.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think Georgia had won thirty three in a row.
- 10:04Speaker 1: But this is impressive. They have won all eight home
- 10:10Speaker 1: games against top ten teams under Kirby Smart. Okay, and
- 10:16Speaker 1: I don't think they're done yet. By the way, that
- 10:19Speaker 1: stat does not bode well for the people in Austin
- 10:23Speaker 1: on Saturday night. Georgia is like a six, six and
- 10:28Speaker 1: a half point favorite. Which I think is about right.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I think is gonna be close.
- 10:32Speaker 4: I do.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I don't think there's gonna be a ton of scoring.
- 10:36Speaker 1: It could be wrong about that, but they have won
- 10:40Speaker 1: thirty nine of their last forty two. This is home
- 10:43Speaker 1: man away in the SEC.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Whoo.
- 10:49Speaker 1: That's that's dynastic stats right there, my friends, you know
- 10:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying. That's my idea of a dynasty quite frankly,
- 11:05Speaker 1: So we'll we'll see. We're gonna hear from Kirby here
- 11:10Speaker 1: in just a minute. Texas is playing better, no question
- 11:15Speaker 1: about that. Arch is playing better. They've moved a couple alignment.
- 11:19Speaker 1: But but but I mean, they've beaten Kentucky and Mississippi
- 11:25Speaker 1: State had to go to overtime to do that. They
- 11:27Speaker 1: did beat Vanderbilt. They jumped on Vanderbilt at home. They've
- 11:31Speaker 1: been much better at home. They haven't been great on
- 11:34Speaker 1: the road. All all of that to me favors the
- 11:40Speaker 1: dogs on on Saturday night. We'll see, But so far
- 11:47Speaker 1: Georgia has had Texas's number. Again, they Texas hadn't found
- 11:52Speaker 1: a way to beat Georgia. They'll have to be much
- 11:57Speaker 1: better on Saturday night, playing there.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Much better.
- 12:01Speaker 1: All right, let's hear from Kirby who I think this
- 12:08Speaker 1: was some yesterday's press conference, so.
- 12:12Speaker 7: We got a big matchup live. Respect for sark He's
- 12:15Speaker 7: become a good friend of mine. He does a tremendous job.
- 12:20Speaker 7: He's at one of the premier programs in the country.
- 12:23Speaker 7: He's been successful everywhere he's been. He's done a great job,
- 12:27Speaker 7: and I enjoy his friendship and look forward to another
- 12:32Speaker 7: a great matchup on Saturday night.
- 12:37Speaker 6: Coach, you mentioned your relationship with the coach Sarkisian.
- 12:40Speaker 8: Now that Texas is in the SEC, we've seen you
- 12:43Speaker 8: guys go head to head for a number of recruits.
- 12:45Speaker 8: I guess arch manning the moment among them SEC media days.
- 12:49Speaker 8: They dropped a couple of recruits announcements that day. I mean,
- 12:52Speaker 8: just how competitive is Texas on the recruiting trail and
- 12:55Speaker 8: how big are the ramifications from the outcome of these games.
- 13:00Speaker 7: I don't know how the games tie. I mean the
- 13:03Speaker 7: recruiting they do. They recruit nationally. I mean a lot
- 13:05Speaker 7: of coaches have gone to Texas and just recruited the
- 13:08Speaker 7: state of Texas. I think Sarking and staff have reached
- 13:11Speaker 7: out both West coast to California all the way down
- 13:15Speaker 7: to Florida. They've gotten some guys, and they've gotten some
- 13:17Speaker 7: guys from Georgia. We've gotten some guys from Texas that
- 13:21Speaker 7: we think are good players. So it's all you know
- 13:24Speaker 7: in the eye of the beholder in terms of who
- 13:27Speaker 7: you go after and who you win. Is certainly recruiting
- 13:31Speaker 7: wins tie into the future of your program and.
- 13:35Speaker 6: The success of your program.
- 13:37Speaker 9: Yeah, coach, this offense from Texas have kind of a
- 13:39Speaker 9: revitalization over the last two or three football games. What
- 13:43Speaker 9: have you seen from the quarterbacks, specifically his development over
- 13:46Speaker 9: the last several weeks.
- 13:47Speaker 6: Yeah, he's playing with more confidence. I think the numberrning.
- 13:50Speaker 7: He's getting better protection, he's seeing things well, he's making
- 13:52Speaker 7: good decisions, he's getting the ball out of his hand quickly.
- 13:56Speaker 7: I mean, he's maturing. You know, he's had an opportunity
- 13:59Speaker 7: to to play and grow, and you don't really get
- 14:03Speaker 7: that until you get out there and play.
- 14:04Speaker 6: He played a good bit last year, but.
- 14:08Speaker 7: The kind of games he's had to play in this
- 14:10Speaker 7: year is just a different stature in terms of the
- 14:12Speaker 7: sec gallet and just you know, you watch game by game.
- 14:17Speaker 7: I watched yesterday each game throughout the year and watched
- 14:20Speaker 7: him just grow and play and play better. He's he's
- 14:23Speaker 7: extending plays, he's doing really well with scrambles, keeps his
- 14:26Speaker 7: eyes downfield. Got to look at the rush. He's made
- 14:30Speaker 7: some really impressive wow th rows and they're playing better offensively.
- 14:36Speaker 10: Yeah, you guys obviously recruited Arch. What stood out about
- 14:39Speaker 10: him during his recruitment process and what do you remember
- 14:42Speaker 10: about it? Just given the I think celebrity nature that
- 14:44Speaker 10: comes with him in that last name.
- 14:47Speaker 7: Yeah, it really wasn't about the celebrity nature. The last
- 14:50Speaker 7: name is about the tape. You know, have a good
- 14:53Speaker 7: relationship with their family. I've known his dad for a while,
- 14:57Speaker 7: his uncle for a long time, and his grandfather or
- 15:00Speaker 7: They've got a wonderful family.
- 15:01Speaker 6: But it has nothing to do with his recruitment.
- 15:04Speaker 7: His recruitment was based on He's athletic, he's fast, he's tall,
- 15:08Speaker 7: he's intelligent, he's got composure, he's got armed.
- 15:11Speaker 6: I mean, he can do it all. He can run the.
- 15:12Speaker 7: Ball, he can throw the ball, and this day and age,
- 15:14Speaker 7: you've got to have a quarterback that can do both.
- 15:17Speaker 7: He can and I think he's got great composure. You know,
- 15:21Speaker 7: he's not really affected by not many things, even the
- 15:24Speaker 7: way he's managed the hype and expectations of what he
- 15:28Speaker 7: was supposed to be this year, None of that was
- 15:30Speaker 7: he didn't He didn't call any of that to come
- 15:31Speaker 7: to him, And it's just what the outside sources.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Did and it doesn't seem to have affected him.
- 15:37Speaker 7: He knows he's got to grow and get better, and
- 15:39Speaker 7: I think Sarks done a great job kind of bringing
- 15:41Speaker 7: him up and allowing him to develop and get better.
- 15:44Speaker 10: What was your pitch to him to try and come.
- 15:47Speaker 7: I don't really know how to pitch. I mean his relationships.
- 15:50Speaker 7: I mean, right, I got to know him, our staff
- 15:52Speaker 7: got to know him. He came over here a lot.
- 15:54Speaker 7: He was very honest and and and had his thoughts
- 15:57Speaker 7: about both programs. He liked both programs. He had to
- 16:00Speaker 7: pick one. I mean, there's no like sales pitch in
- 16:03Speaker 7: terms of that.
- 16:05Speaker 11: Yeah, Texas comes into this game second nationally in run defense.
- 16:09Speaker 11: Just what stands out to you about how they've been
- 16:11Speaker 11: so effective in that area.
- 16:12Speaker 6: Yeah, they were really effective in that area last year.
- 16:15Speaker 7: They're built on the line of scrimmage, They're built to
- 16:17Speaker 7: be physical, they fit things really well.
- 16:20Speaker 6: Pete does a great job. It's a defensive coordinator.
- 16:23Speaker 7: They're very disruptive, they create turnovers, aggressive, they got good players.
- 16:28Speaker 7: I mean, at the end of the day, they got big, physical,
- 16:31Speaker 7: good players on the line of scrimmage, which allows you
- 16:33Speaker 7: to stop the run.
- 16:35Speaker 11: Coach, I believe their top three and sacks sophar what
- 16:37Speaker 11: challenges will Colin Simmons and their other pass rushers present
- 16:40Speaker 11: on Saturday.
- 16:42Speaker 6: They're tremendous.
- 16:43Speaker 7: They got great effort, they rush really hard, they're leaders.
- 16:47Speaker 7: They've got stars all over their defense. I mean, they're
- 16:50Speaker 7: very talented. When you watch that defense play, they play hard,
- 16:54Speaker 7: they get after the quarterback, they disguise things well, very disruptive,
- 16:59Speaker 7: so does a lot of challenges when it comes to
- 17:03Speaker 7: you know, dropping back, throwing the ball and trying to
- 17:05Speaker 7: run the ball when you want to be balanced.
- 17:07Speaker 6: They're really good at making you not be balanced.
- 17:13Speaker 12: Yeah, you've had to shuffle some pieces around in the
- 17:15Speaker 12: second areya over the past couple weeks tou to injuries
- 17:17Speaker 12: and things like that. But how would you assess how
- 17:19Speaker 12: that unit has played, you know, since the second off
- 17:23Speaker 12: week against a couple teams with solid quarterbacks in Florida,
- 17:25Speaker 12: Mississippi State.
- 17:29Speaker 7: I mean, we played good in Spurts and we played
- 17:31Speaker 7: poors kind of like everything. I mean, there's things that
- 17:33Speaker 7: I would like to see done better and there's things
- 17:36Speaker 7: that were improved on. So I mean, it just kind
- 17:39Speaker 7: of depends on what quarter, what play you're talking about.
- 17:43Speaker 13: Kirby on quarterback recruiting, you've played signed to pursue what
- 17:48Speaker 13: the outside world, I guess, would you know categorizes a
- 17:51Speaker 13: bunch of different styles of quarterbacks. Do you have some
- 17:54Speaker 13: court rates you look for at a quarterback or is
- 17:56Speaker 13: that a position where you're trying to get the best
- 17:59Speaker 13: available play every cycle?
- 18:02Speaker 7: Well, I think the best player available every cycle does
- 18:05Speaker 7: have core qualities or core characters, So you can move
- 18:09Speaker 7: a coardback you have a bit leader. It's eighty ninety
- 18:12Speaker 7: percent between the years, and I think people get enamored with.
- 18:18Speaker 6: Just physical traits. How big is he, how tall is he?
- 18:20Speaker 6: What does he run?
- 18:21Speaker 7: How far does he throw the ball? How fast does
- 18:24Speaker 7: he run? A lot of those things, I mean they matter,
- 18:27Speaker 7: but they don't matter as much as what does he
- 18:29Speaker 7: do when this this guy free running at him? What
- 18:31Speaker 7: does he do when the shot clock's got three seconds
- 18:33Speaker 7: left and he's got to make a decision on which
- 18:35Speaker 7: way to slide to protection. I mean, there is so much
- 18:38Speaker 7: that goes into playing that position that is not talked about,
- 18:42Speaker 7: and a lot of them aren't really qualities we can
- 18:46Speaker 7: measure without having them in our program. So don't we
- 18:51Speaker 7: don't have a cookie cutter like this is what we're
- 18:53Speaker 7: going after.
- 18:54Speaker 6: We want to go after people that can lead our team.
- 18:57Speaker 7: If they have a skill set that's unique and that
- 18:59Speaker 7: we think can make us better, then we want to
- 19:02Speaker 7: grow within our program. They're gonna be the face of
- 19:04Speaker 7: your organization. So you want to go after the right
- 19:06Speaker 7: kind of person, and they're probably the sole person that
- 19:12Speaker 7: makes the most decisions outside of the offense coordinator defense
- 19:15Speaker 7: coordinator during a game, So you want to get the
- 19:17Speaker 7: right guy from a mental makeup.
- 19:21Speaker 14: Kirby Russ specifically a couple of questions about Arch.
- 19:25Speaker 11: What has Gunner brought to your offense as the first
- 19:27Speaker 11: year starting quarterback.
- 19:30Speaker 7: Toughness, he's brought, wisdom, He's brought consistency.
- 19:37Speaker 6: He's made good decisions with the ball in terms of
- 19:40Speaker 6: keeping us out of bad situations.
- 19:43Speaker 7: I mean, you look at it, he's avoided quite a
- 19:47Speaker 7: bit of sacks. He's avoided catastrophic things like turnovers, and
- 19:52Speaker 7: he's made plays with his legs and he's made.
- 19:56Speaker 6: Plays with his arm. So I mean, I think he is.
- 19:59Speaker 7: A he's improved throughout the season and continues to do that,
- 20:06Speaker 7: then it's gonna make us very hard to defend when
- 20:08Speaker 7: he plays well.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Speaking with kJ here in a bit, what's been his
- 20:12Speaker 3: biggest area of growth since stepping foot on campus.
- 20:15Speaker 7: Probably leadership. I mean, if you say this year, I
- 20:17Speaker 7: would say his growth has been in leadership. I would
- 20:20Speaker 7: say his freshman year it was probably in adding some
- 20:23Speaker 7: bolt and some size, and he's done a really good
- 20:25Speaker 7: job of that in the off season. He's fighting to
- 20:28Speaker 7: maintain that throughout the season because we like for him
- 20:30Speaker 7: to play in that one nine five range, and he
- 20:33Speaker 7: works really hard at that. But his biggest growth this
- 20:36Speaker 7: year is in being in a room where he has
- 20:40Speaker 7: to step to the forefront and be a leader and
- 20:43Speaker 7: communicate more.
- 20:44Speaker 6: Where he relied on other guys to communicate in the past.
- 20:47Speaker 7: He is the lead communicator on the back end now
- 20:50Speaker 7: and he's done a nice.
- 20:51Speaker 6: Job of that.
- 20:52Speaker 9: Yeah, coach, I've heard you and other coaches mentioned how
- 20:55Speaker 9: you almost have to nowadays have a quarterback that can
- 20:57Speaker 9: run the football and add imbalance counts.
- 21:00Speaker 6: What if defense is done to.
- 21:02Speaker 9: Kind of force that, to almost require that to have
- 21:04Speaker 9: a dynamic run game.
- 21:07Speaker 7: Well, I just think defenses are harder run on without
- 21:11Speaker 7: the extra element.
- 21:12Speaker 6: I don't know that they've done. They've taken more chances.
- 21:17Speaker 7: You know, offenses can become more predictable when they're not
- 21:21Speaker 7: using their quarterbacks legs.
- 21:22Speaker 6: But I don't know.
- 21:24Speaker 7: There's a team we've played this year that hasn't used
- 21:27Speaker 7: their quarterbacks leg like everybody does. You say, well that
- 21:29Speaker 7: quarterback can run, they still use them. They still get
- 21:32Speaker 7: them out of the pocket and using them to run
- 21:35Speaker 7: the ball. So that advent has come about because rushing
- 21:39Speaker 7: the ball matters. I don't think that advent has come
- 21:42Speaker 7: along because defenses have evolved to the point they stop
- 21:45Speaker 7: people from doing it. It's just we have to be
- 21:48Speaker 7: able to get some situational runs red area, third down,
- 21:54Speaker 7: goal line, whatever you call it. You need creative ways
- 21:57Speaker 7: to run the ball to stay ahead.
- 22:00Speaker 6: Coaches want to get the layers up. They don't lost
- 22:02Speaker 6: on how he's doing.
- 22:03Speaker 15: And also Drew Bobo and to Mellow Jones.
- 22:06Speaker 7: Yep, Drew had a pretty bad laceration on his finger.
- 22:10Speaker 7: He's patched up and ready to go practice today. And
- 22:14Speaker 7: Lawson is doing well and I think he's gonna he's
- 22:18Speaker 7: gonna make a good quick turn.
- 22:19Speaker 6: But we'll see first game on Saturday without Jordan Hall.
- 22:25Speaker 11: Just what did you make of how the defensive line
- 22:27Speaker 11: played against Misissippi c.
- 22:28Speaker 6: Yeah, they did a good job.
- 22:30Speaker 7: I think they played kind of, you know, inspired about
- 22:32Speaker 7: him not being there and wanting to play well because
- 22:37Speaker 7: he wasn't there. And it's tough on Jordan and he's
- 22:39Speaker 7: a leader in that room and guys missed him and
- 22:42Speaker 7: we had to increase the snaps to some other guys.
- 22:45Speaker 10: How much do the wins last year over Texas impact
- 22:48Speaker 10: this game at all? You look for tendencies. Does it
- 22:50Speaker 10: maybe give this team some confidence knowing that they've beaten
- 22:53Speaker 10: Texas before in big time situation?
- 22:55Speaker 7: Yeah, this team didn't beat Texas that that team and
- 23:00Speaker 7: this Texas hasn't played this team of ours, so two
- 23:04Speaker 7: completely different teams in my opinion, So I think it
- 23:07Speaker 7: has zero effect on it.
- 23:10Speaker 12: Yeah, how have you seen the pass rush continue to
- 23:12Speaker 12: develop over the past couple of weeks?
- 23:14Speaker 6: About some sacks and it's a pressure on.
- 23:15Speaker 12: Saturday, And what are the challenges of rushing a guy
- 23:18Speaker 12: like Arch who can make plays with his legs in
- 23:21Speaker 12: the scramble game if you're not careful.
- 23:23Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a challenge.
- 23:24Speaker 7: Every play there's you know, six gaps sometimes seven gaps
- 23:27Speaker 7: up there you got to fill and you can't fill
- 23:29Speaker 7: them all. So you got to you know, rush intelligently
- 23:33Speaker 7: and violently, and those two don't always mix.
- 23:37Speaker 6: So it's hard to do that and contain the quarterback.
- 23:41Speaker 7: You know, we've had some some opportunities to get sacks
- 23:45Speaker 7: that we've capitalized on. We we had a couple of
- 23:48Speaker 7: chances on normal down stuff the last week with the
- 23:51Speaker 7: Mississippi State's style of play. But it'll be key this
- 23:55Speaker 7: week for sure because Arch is really good. They're really
- 23:58Speaker 7: good at protection. They know what they're doing. They've got
- 24:01Speaker 7: different protections and that's a challenge every week for our
- 24:04Speaker 7: defense to try to affect the quarterback.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Coach, Where's been the biggest improvement you see from this
- 24:09Speaker 3: team over the last few weeks.
- 24:13Speaker 6: I don't know if I can specify one area.
- 24:15Speaker 7: I think I've been really proud of the consistency in practice,
- 24:21Speaker 7: So I don't know that that's an improvement.
- 24:23Speaker 6: I think that is a staple of this team. They
- 24:27Speaker 6: have committed to.
- 24:29Speaker 7: Practicing the right way and improving in a time when
- 24:34Speaker 7: some teams are going the other way.
- 24:38Speaker 1: All right, that's Kirby Smart his team getting ready between
