Transcript
- 0:41Hello, and welcome back to the Doctor Who podcast a hamster
- 0:44with a blunt. Penknife, a commentary podcast
- 0:47with me, Dylan Reese. Oh, I need Joe.
- 0:53There we go. I just, I went a little bit Road
- 0:54fair, but that's what you get. If you get me to intro the
- 0:57podcast, when you are. So you'll know, people just
- 0:59expect me to be truth. Very true.
- 1:04So, although watching today, no, we're gonna watch the second
- 1:08episode of the Daleks invasion of our Earth which is confusing.
- 1:11We called the Dalek Daleks. Yeah, of course.
- 1:14We all know the Daleks isn't actually called the Daleks but
- 1:16who knows it'll always be the Daleks to me, isn't there an
- 1:19episode of the It's called the rescue.
- 1:21Yes it's it's all it's all very convoluted isn't even episode of
- 1:25the chase called dimensions in time.
- 1:27Yes it's an episode of this that's actually called The Tenth
- 1:31Planet part for now, that's not true.
- 1:42Well let's just go straight in, shall we?
- 1:46Yeah, let's do it. I'm ready for this and you
- 1:49intro. So I'll count as in in right do
- 1:53one, let's go to follow. We're going to see some Dalek
- 1:58action and as already discussed, I'm sure is going to be
- 2:02extremely well realized it's going to be better than the
- 2:07movie. That's what I've heard.
- 2:09It's going to be epic stuff. So this was the first episode of
- 2:12Doctor Who to ever enter the top 10 of viewing figures.
- 2:17I think it was about 12 million people or something.
- 2:19What? Nope, just the first time it's
- 2:21ever charted. How I've been I've been
- 2:24listening to Toby hey those wonderful too much information.
- 2:30Jesus Christ. So I listened to his and then
- 2:32I've stopped her in mind together and I'll still in the
- 2:35nursery. Sometimes he Grace's me with his
- 2:39presence on this, you know I'm very honored.
- 2:42You're a lucky man and Like there's lots of sort of
- 2:47conversation. Oh, so early episodes about
- 2:48Doctor Who? Well, we're only gonna give it
- 2:501200 and I'm going to give it a, you know, a run of ten episodes
- 2:53or a episodes or something. Honestly, got those people that
- 2:56were making those choices. Must be eating, Humble Pie at
- 2:59this point. Yeah.
- 3:02Yeah, I mean, and this is technically Doctor Who's first
- 3:04anniversary. So this the first episode one I
- 3:08think was broadcast. It was around November.
- 3:11I want to say was November 21st, actually.
- 3:13So we're all right. I mean, obviously.
- 3:15We want to celebrate it, but it's quite apt, but, you know,
- 3:18it's back with this is in the Zeitgeist.
- 3:21Now is there, you know, and that this season is just on a run of
- 3:24incredible viewing figures. Yeah, it is may just, I mean,
- 3:28you're doing the web Planet, well, as we record this your, I
- 3:32swear it Peaks, isn't it? Yeah, I think it does for a
- 3:34long, long time, like it's about 13, 14 million, something like
- 3:38that. Yes, the highest until arcing
- 3:41space to, wow. Got like 13 points.
- 3:45Ex or something like that. Now, I'm not blaming the Arc of
- 3:49the story, the web Planet entirely for the viewing
- 3:53figures. Dovetail heading over a cliff
- 3:55like that. But boy, oh boy.
- 3:57It was massively popular and also hedonic Mania was going a
- 4:02bit crazy because this is the first instance, I was in Doctor
- 4:05Who of a returning element. Yeah, it's exciting stuff.
- 4:10And I can just see why you can see why kids love darling.
- 4:15Ex and I tell you what, I've always hated the voices of the
- 4:17story, but they are so much more imitatable that for kids than
- 4:23say, the Nick Briggs version. Almost not to slight the next
- 4:25week. Nick brings version because it's
- 4:27great but they're all very light or like you can you can just
- 4:32imitate them like that. The ring modulation that they're
- 4:34using is barely audible. I think I do because I'm a
- 4:37little bit camper than you. What we are their masters all
- 4:42that. We camp isn't it?
- 4:46And we also get that very hesitant Dalek that goes the
- 4:50comes up in a bit worries about to make a speech to everybody
- 4:52and he goes up to the microphone because I was mad as I wanted to
- 4:58chase, you know, goes 34 minutes.
- 5:05Yeah it does. Obviously in the back of
- 5:07everyone's mind, you know, after the second world war, the the
- 5:10most scary force to conquer the Earth is a lot of Camp Nazis.
- 5:15I think the Daleks don't become the Garlic's.
- 5:18Probably until Daleks master plan / care of the Daleks.
- 5:23Like, I think, at this point, they're still in their infancy,
- 5:26you know, there's a moment coming up actually, in the few
- 5:29minutes where they kill somebody, and the dalit leader
- 5:32just goes kill him. Like that's really scary then
- 5:37just like kill him, Robert? Yeah, so does to note, the
- 5:40catchphrases aren't quite there. I believe somewhere in this
- 5:43story is the first. Right.
- 5:47But yeah, like they're not quite people.
- 5:51I guess. Even Terry Nation, describes
- 5:53them as beings or people or something like that within the
- 5:57script and it's just a bit like old people, the writers and the
- 6:01producers haven't quite thought about what the dialects actually
- 6:03are at this point to make their kind of change and they can
- 6:06become a little bit funny at times like they do in the Chase
- 6:10and even in this where one of them chats to a mannequin
- 6:14briefly Oh, that bit is agonizing.
- 6:16It's just so it's being like you you know?
- 6:20Because moderation would cut away quick but Richard Moll.
- 6:23Yeah, I was there for you know, a couple of minutes.
- 6:25Yeah. So the Daleks here are they are
- 6:30they feel threatening enough? Hmm.
- 6:32But they're not for me, they're not the terrifying thing that
- 6:36they will become and effectively.
- 6:39There has to be like a page-one rewrite on the darkness, because
- 6:42in the Daleks It's kind of like the end of their story, isn't
- 6:47it? It's like, they can't leave the
- 6:49city for whatever it look like I'm in boy.
- 6:52Now, they need the power from the phallic electricity, and
- 6:56yeah, to stay in the city and all of that.
- 6:58So effectively, they are be re-written to fit into this
- 7:01story. Yeah, well, this looks a little
- 7:03something for that, in terms of sort of being unique, but as
- 7:08like a force, a threatening Force, well, they've thrown
- 7:13played makeup missiles on the planet taken out.
- 7:15Over lunch people like not many Doctor Who monsters get this far
- 7:18today? No, very true.
- 7:20And I think this is, this is the first kind of big sci-fi story.
- 7:25They do. In terms of love, I would bring
- 7:27it back to Earth the threats, like a local threat, and also,
- 7:31it's the first time, the doctor I think is the hero that chooses
- 7:35to stay, there is like we better.
- 7:38We better defeat them, which before that I don't think he
- 7:41ever does is just involved in a situation.
- 7:44That's they're trying to get out of Sometimes they defeat a body
- 7:46on the way was very different from the last time, about the
- 7:49Daleks, an external load of bullshit, just because he wanted
- 7:51to investigate the see ya. Very true.
- 7:54I love you. There's a massive retooling of
- 7:56the couch, sorry. Sorry, you say I was just going
- 7:58to say very quickly, I love the dark.
- 8:01Let's coming down this ramp throughout every episode of this
- 8:04just just keep watching us. They always down but has
- 8:08reverted size going shit. But over here there He says, you
- 8:15know, you poor pathetic creatures to destroy everyone on
- 8:18Earth. You have to destroy all living
- 8:19matter. We're going to stop you and all
- 8:21this is not the first time he's really been written in this
- 8:24mold. Yes he is.
- 8:26He's very much to hear all of a sudden and this is where the
- 8:30show become starts to become a little bit more about the doctor
- 8:33even that first season. And I think is really being and
- 8:37Barbara story of them trying to get home and being whisked off
- 8:41in that absolutely kidnapped and taken into time and space It's a
- 8:46Well a kidnapping is 600 is great and gender point where I
- 8:50know where they'd been institutionalized was that bit
- 8:53in? I think it's the sensor is where
- 8:54they start reading out the wiki entry.
- 8:56Well we've been to the Aztecs and we popped off with Marco
- 9:00Polo and okay, they've settled in just one thing that's really
- 9:04annoying about this story is I think the sets are really good.
- 9:09Yeah. And I I feel that for as kind of
- 9:13tiny budget And a small Studio. They it paints an impressive
- 9:18picture and it's the direction that doesn't get into the detail
- 9:22of the set because there was a short on minute ago where you
- 9:25saw the saucer that sort of painted backdrop of the houses,
- 9:29and it felt sort of vast, but now it's all tight shot.
- 9:32So you're not seeing anything. Yeah.
- 9:35You just doesn't know how to work the studio.
- 9:36And as you say, if it was Douglas Campfield or somebody
- 9:38else, you would, you will get a very differently.
- 9:42Yeah, Christopher Barry would do a great job.
- 9:43You can see that little car Dalek in the background there
- 9:46and that's kind of unavoidable. But yeah it's so it just it does
- 9:51look at that disco darling there.
- 9:52What colors are we know? What color?
- 9:55That's not like it. I do issue stripy but so I think
- 9:59by next week he's completely black but I don't know why it
- 10:03was Pride week. That's what it's different
- 10:05colors this week. Of course, of course, I think
- 10:09there's a really Savvy mood as made in that, we're doing this
- 10:13sort of big epic story. Sorry, but there's a lot of
- 10:16intimate little stories going on throughout and you've got David,
- 10:19you've got Jenny, you've got Dortmund, you've course plan in
- 10:22case character or can't remember what it's called that fella that
- 10:27failure, but but they separate all these guest characters off
- 10:32or pair them off with one of the regulars.
- 10:34So, there's all of these different subplots going on and
- 10:36we're learning a lot about their character.
- 10:37So that's all there is an intimacy to this.
- 10:40Yeah, it's telling like the big invalid.
- 10:43I think the top three 6 episode length allows for those little
- 10:47stories to happen. I love the Jodie, Whittaker era
- 10:50and you won't hear me slack it off very much at all, but I
- 10:53think sometimes one of the criticisms that can be level,
- 10:56there's sometimes you've got four companions, delivering, one
- 10:58companions line. And it needs more of like, let's
- 11:01separate them all off and do different things.
- 11:04But there's an I love the Jody with career as well, good good.
- 11:08It's a wonderful, everything and do one of those please.
- 11:11Absolutely 100%. I like there were very few
- 11:13episodes from that. Run that But I haven't Revisited
- 11:17and loved in the market again, middle of this.
- 11:19Dalek invasion of Earth commentary.
- 11:20I'm going to ask you to do my personal favorite of the entire
- 11:23area, because no one's chose me and a lot of demons and Punjab.
- 11:28IR K, wonderful? Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 11:31I'll be there. It's a lovely story.
- 11:34Very, very subtle. I actually I'm going to name
- 11:38drop here. I went to visit a friend tells
- 11:40house the other day, they did you again.
- 11:44Please tell him to X1 is extremely handsome.
- 11:46And here's my number. Yes, very handsome, man.
- 11:49Both of these episodes. That are stunningly.
- 11:51Good. Yeah, they are.
- 11:53He's anything like a lovely chap.
- 11:55May I ask. Why you went to fillet Patel's
- 11:57house every day. It was a work related to visit
- 12:01Earth. I work in film and television
- 12:04and I can't really say much about the project.
- 12:06It's not Doctor Who I'm not doing Doctor Who, but
- 12:08fortunately. But yes, we it was, it was
- 12:10work-related over there for about an hour and very nicely
- 12:13was to please. Extremely talented, man.
- 12:16In fact, I can make a parallel between this and demons on the
- 12:19Punjab because that also tells a very epic story in an extremely
- 12:23intimate way as well as it does. It does.
- 12:26Possibly slightly more successfully than usually.
- 12:31Oh yeah, just beautiful. It is.
- 12:34It's a beautiful story. Well, yeah, I'll definitely.
- 12:37No, you don't get all the Dan dare excitement in demons on the
- 12:39pillow. You don't always think about
- 12:43that first Jodie, Whittaker it series.
- 12:45That it's episodes like that, it's suddenly pitched for Sunday
- 12:48night. It's not a Saturday night
- 12:50adventure series anymore. It's like no this is Doctor Who
- 12:53for a Sunday night so it's going to be slightly.
- 12:56Not think demons absolutely exemplifies that.
- 12:59Yeah. 100% like a very polished historical drama.
- 13:03Yeah. With a few aliens toning because
- 13:05it is Doctor Who but yeah it's a wonderful definitely stuff like
- 13:09it takes you away as well which is sort of cerebro, isn't it?
- 13:12Yeah, I love it. Takes you away.
- 13:15I thought I've seen what that's one of the episodes.
- 13:18I've re-watched. The most, I think.
- 13:21Maybe we'll do a double Bill effect on there.
- 13:24What did L say something that the loads are now like?
- 13:28Oh, so there's a whole sequence here in a minute, where will
- 13:31your heart of an escape from this cell and we go for this Old
- 13:34Log T? You've been with the ring away
- 13:36and tactics? Yeah well Terry Nation loves a
- 13:39magnet but again, I think it's that thing of it's a scientific
- 13:44process. Is that kids could understand
- 13:47and it's still that educational remit of the show.
- 13:51So I kind of see why he throws in static electricity and
- 13:55magnets and things like that because it is that's what it's
- 13:57easy for a kid to get in a way that along learned technobabble
- 14:01necessarily wouldn't be I just think like you're talking about
- 14:05kids there, I think this is so G.
- 14:08It's like might be such an obvious idea, the Dalek invasion
- 14:11above. Yeah, looking back now, but the
- 14:14diner For massively popular, in that first story.
- 14:17What is the most exciting thing you can do with?
- 14:20And of course, bring them to us. It's just brilliant.
- 14:24I think. No wonder those.
- 14:25You figures shot up. I bet those darn.
- 14:27It suits were in hot demand. Would you say this one out in
- 14:29November? Yeah.
- 14:30Yeah. Of course, those fabulous PV
- 14:33suits. You know?
- 14:35Yeah. I'd like to get one myself one
- 14:37day. They're a bit pricey.
- 14:40I'm trying to get some points. I'm going to buy a full-size
- 14:43Dalek up and I For years and having this in it completely
- 14:49non-threatening way. Yeah.
- 14:51But do you mind if I play with your Dalek?
- 14:53Absolutely, she's over and play with my darling.
- 14:57Anytime one of my friends has got one of the day of the Daleks
- 15:05and it's just beautiful. I'd like one of the nude, the
- 15:07bronze ones for the new series. I think I actually want a movie
- 15:1110. Yes.
- 15:13Or what? The movie ones in the new series
- 15:17ones are the most expensive. You can get a dago whittling
- 15:19down there, whizzing down the ramp here and there's that shot.
- 15:22I was telling you about there. Looking at the camera is very
- 15:24high in the studio. Yeah, it's apparently they were
- 15:27pretty sort of they were bit like Daleks those camera.
- 15:29Yeah. I mean, look at the depth there.
- 15:33Can you see the row houses? Yeah, that looks really really
- 15:37nice. And then and then you're on the
- 15:38same set a few minutes earlier and a few minutes later and it
- 15:41looks like they're shooting in a Cupboard.
- 15:44They were what are you talking about?
- 15:47You just saw a woman just come in to shop there.
- 15:49They get like batters. Yeah, it's a pretty.
- 15:55I love this whole little explanation of the Daleks
- 15:59invasion and they cut between the On the sorcerer that little
- 16:03flashback. And then there's also the stuff
- 16:05with Susan and Barbara learning about it.
- 16:07Like, again, it's really well, sort of written by Terry Nation.
- 16:10You know, I've got to get this Exposition here but I don't want
- 16:13to just be focused on one person.
- 16:15For the whole time, there are absolutely ways to deliver
- 16:19Exposition out there and some writers have it and some
- 16:22writers, don't Glen McCoy, I'll be rude.
- 16:27You know I you know the die scheme here is to Pilot the
- 16:31planet. Oh yeah.
- 16:32Now two other writers. Nicholas Briggs and Rusty.
- 16:36Davis have also nabbed this idea and both refer to this.
- 16:42So into the death, in Big finish's, Run, Nick Briggs says
- 16:48that they were trying to turn the earth into a plague Planet
- 16:51which would roam the universe and I think that's a big scary
- 16:55idea. It is surprisingly good for Neil
- 16:58site. Whereas Rusty Davis suggestive.
- 17:01How of a gigantic super weapon like the Earth was wanted to
- 17:06create this thing that's going to destroy every single particle
- 17:09in the universe or something. It's an absolutely Bonkers idea.
- 17:13I love it again. You don't get that on other
- 17:17shows because other shows take themselves far too seriously.
- 17:20But doctor who goes, no, they want to Planet fucking Earth,
- 17:23and for what? For what?
- 17:25But they sure like, a camera and Julian bleach, his face and say,
- 17:28right? It's a nice feature, I this
- 17:30batshit Crazy speech people that's and stars crates.
- 17:37Not, what do you think of these guest characters end of
- 17:40Dortmund? Jenny, I think it's Tyler, isn't
- 17:45it? That's a Tyler that's it.
- 17:47So again, I kind of just associate them with the movie
- 17:51version and missile was feels like a bit of a limitation for
- 17:55me. However, Jenny isn't in the
- 17:58movie version? I don't think.
- 17:59Yeah, I think she's by Fall the most interesting one because
- 18:03she's got that same later on where Dortmund goes, you know,
- 18:07dogs, she deals with it in their own way.
- 18:09She's obviously just been through some really traumatic
- 18:11shit because of what's happened? So, of course, she's cold and
- 18:14calloused, and we either get the backstory, those two.
- 18:17And I, obviously, like, she's traumatized because of what's
- 18:19happened. Yeah, we find out much about
- 18:22her. I don't think we do.
- 18:24No, I don't think, I think you're right.
- 18:26And well, when we get that spin-off series, I'm sure we'll
- 18:29find out all about that. What?
- 18:31Jenny not the doctor's daughter. Yeah, exactly.
- 18:37There's a wonderful story on the documentary of Jaclyn Hill and
- 18:41oh good, grief and Davies. That's a name, isn't it?
- 18:43Jay meeting in this and they were lifelong friends after this
- 18:47and it is now yeah, it turns out about 10 years later, Jaclyn
- 18:52Hill. And Alvin rakoff husband moved
- 18:56into the same street as our Davis and her husband, Richard
- 18:59briers And they were just died in together all the time, and
- 19:05like after they quit acting, I think Ann Davis and Jaclyn Hill,
- 19:08did like open University together and stuff like that.
- 19:11Friends, right up until Jacqueline Hill died.
- 19:14There's a few stories like that of people meeting in Doctor Who?
- 19:20Yeah. I mean, I'd like to go to one of
- 19:21my dinner party sounds like a laugh.
- 19:24I think. But conversely like I'm sure.
- 19:27William Russell said, that you never heard from Jacqueline Hill
- 19:30again or something like that. Really I could but I could be
- 19:33wrong but I feel like the maybe we'll find out more in the
- 19:37season to Blu-ray boxset interview with William Russell.
- 19:40But I swear he said, you never really heard from her again
- 19:43afterwards, which is a shame. What, a basin tasty, tidbits in
- 19:47the 500 hours of bonus material on your race here.
- 19:51I live for that stuff you know and me too me too.
- 19:54I'm a bit worried about the William Russell interview just
- 19:57because they showed some clips from.
- 19:58It seems shaky, doesn't it? You know, he's old and obviously
- 20:03that that that that's what happens, but it's just it's just
- 20:06quite sad. When you see people like I'm
- 20:08very lucky that. I've still got a grandparent
- 20:11who's probably about the same age and hit my granddad.
- 20:13He's ever seen with, you know, you just don't get a lot of here
- 20:17and sort of sentences out of anymore.
- 20:20And I just it's just a bit sad. When you see someone like
- 20:24William Russell, who's had an amazing career and he gives
- 20:27interviews with them, are always fantastic.
- 20:29And it's yeah, but it don't It'll be nice to see it and
- 20:32maybe we'll get a couple more Revelations st.
- 20:35Matthew sweet as such a brilliant job on those entities
- 20:38because he manages to talk to them I think he's done things
- 20:43like 80 Manning as he Nicola Bryant and he knows all of the
- 20:47usual anecdotes these are heat survivors away from all of that
- 20:50and just digs a little deeper, he managed to get a new
- 20:54anecdotes and do things out of Tom Baker, which I thought
- 20:57nobody ever do it even. Just like I remember he asked
- 21:01Tom He's talking about the Builder in working on the
- 21:03building Society building site and you expect the same old
- 21:06story and Matthew sweets just goes.
- 21:09But how did that make you feel? So, rather than, yeah, this
- 21:13situation, like how did it? How does it feel to be that
- 21:16person doing that? And so Tom's answering the same
- 21:19questions that he's always got in a different way.
- 21:21Almost done. He's just a fantastic
- 21:23interviewer, I think it's really the balls.
- 21:25He had to get Michael grade on and that was a brilliant
- 21:30interview. Like I thought I don't like my
- 21:32gray very much. I'm we like the TV, these crazy
- 21:34things like that, but I love the interview.
- 21:36I learned so much straight. It was, it was great.
- 21:39I'll and even, I mean, he almost gets a, he almost gets Katie
- 21:45Manning to say that Nichols, Courtney was bisexual, but then
- 21:48she's not a position. I didn't realize that until she
- 21:51said that, yeah, about him struggling with his sexuality
- 21:55and she kind of says something and then darts over it, but it's
- 21:58just a little nugget of somebody's life that you did.
- 22:01You didn't normally guess it's Percy.
- 22:04Why we love private into the personal lives of life is
- 22:09scandalous Times of John nathan-turner?
- 22:11Why can't I read that about a day?
- 22:12Is a massive. Yeah, I know exactly the same.
- 22:16I remember, getting at the time and all my friends were like,
- 22:20oh, you. What's that book about?
- 22:22I was like, it's carpeted to put it down.
- 22:24As like I said about the final producer of classic Doctor Who
- 22:27there like that sounds so boring.
- 22:28I mean, if you read this, you blow I'm through it, as quickly
- 22:32as I am. Aren't you going to sleep today?
- 22:34No, I'm too. Busy learning gossip about John
- 22:35nathan-turner. Leave me alone.
- 22:37You know, this is Juicy stuff for my podcast.
- 22:40Come on. It's a fantastic book.
- 22:42I do like the documentary that was on the Blu-rays about him,
- 22:45but it was, It Shine over some of the less controversial
- 22:50Elements, which is fine, because sometimes you want to celebrate
- 22:53someone's life without having to go into the more salacious B.
- 22:56I think we're Jonathan Turner way off base, but who cares?
- 22:59This is interesting with Jonathan Turner.
- 23:01Um, I think if you listen to the big finish Memoirs that he did,
- 23:05and that's mostly production detail.
- 23:07But really interesting, you read the skander's Times book, which
- 23:10is his personal life. And that's pretty toxic, and
- 23:13absolutely fascinating. And then what was the other one?
- 23:16You just said, the yeah, the documentary.
- 23:20Chris Chapman is it? Yeah.
- 23:21And I think that paints a really good story of how his career was
- 23:24on the rise. He took on Doctor Who and then
- 23:27it kind of crashed and burned. So as a whole All those three
- 23:31things that really paints a vivid picture.
- 23:34It's a shame that we never got him to, you know, obviously some
- 23:38very shame that he didn't live longer.
- 23:40But they're perhaps he never got to tell his story as he would
- 23:43have liked to have told this because his Memoirs are very
- 23:47they're not very salacious at all.
- 23:48Considering the sort of person he was Loose.
- 23:50As you say it's all very production heavy but he's not
- 23:53really. I mean that was in Doctor Who
- 23:54magazine is all going to sit there typing?
- 23:56Well and this Doctor Who fan was there and I whispered in his ear
- 23:59you ever had to inside you Although there was a, there was
- 24:06another example, there of pretty shoddy Direction in that, it's
- 24:10got a fantastic idea. You've got the spotlight in the
- 24:12darkness as picking it up Onyx, and it could kind of be really
- 24:16nightmarish if that was well. But it looks like just a
- 24:20stationary camera and a light just shooting around the Sith.
- 24:23Yeah. And it keeps going onto the
- 24:25cardboard, Dalek, that they've got to bolt the numbers after
- 24:27this, like, you can do some really interesting stuff where
- 24:29you make it so dark, you can reuse.
- 24:31As the same Daleks again and again but it just it just
- 24:34doesn't quite work. There's a moment we get an
- 24:37earlier on oh there's another dialect going down the ramp
- 24:41earlier on that. I think we might have missed of
- 24:43them going to robotize the doctor and one of the Daleks
- 24:46just goes, okay, here's coat off and I just thought why can't,
- 24:49why can't Robo men be robitaille's with their coats
- 24:52on? It's just a very obvious like
- 24:56they just make the coast bloody hideous.
- 25:01What do you wanna be a man handed on that table?
- 25:03I want on Earth is going on here, huh.
- 25:07It's flat-out these sets as well.
- 25:10The bishop says they feel quite big they do and they've got to
- 25:14tears. So I think it's remade missed
- 25:16it. But there are some point you see
- 25:17somebody on top level and the Daleks lower down like they're
- 25:20really going for it, which it looks like just think like thing
- 25:24about the duration of the Crusade later on in the season
- 25:27to remember the sequence where salad Dean is that Banner case
- 25:32character? Yeah, it's first revealed
- 25:35listening and the camera comes for a Quran and he's in the half
- 25:39dark and there's action going on behind him and it's so
- 25:42skillfully put together. I think to myself man.
- 25:45If someone that was in here this one you know?
- 25:48And I think this is good. Yeah.
- 25:50Could be exceptionally good. It could.
- 25:53It could in fact we we know we've seen the better version
- 25:55already on the move at a movie. Yeah, sure.
- 25:58Favourite bit of that movie. I mean I like the B.
- 26:04I think it's a couple bits probably the bit where the
- 26:07Tardis gets like all the rubble falls on it.
- 26:11Like that version is just so much better.
- 26:14I do like the scene in the mood, the robo men and like they're
- 26:17eating the food, and Bernard cribbins, just being very
- 26:20slapstick about it all. To help me.
- 26:22I love it's a bit where Philip magic tricks l'm and then he's
- 26:28like, ya told you they'd be it and I analyze darlie's around
- 26:31that At and I blow the shit out of it than they have the black.
- 26:42Again, whilst I head back to Twitter questions, the wonderful
- 26:47Jack. Koya would like to know what
- 26:49other cities are national landmarks.
- 26:51Would you like to see the Daleks patrolling through?
- 26:54Oh, that's interesting. I mean, I just like to see them
- 26:59like damn, my local Tesco's or something like that.
- 27:01Nice to see you normal. No more places, just that Dad
- 27:05and I all there otherwise. You know, I probably don't look
- 27:09like this has been done now. That's how early would be being
- 27:11Darwin. It hate, make it not only
- 27:13domestic. Yeah, on the streets of Soho,
- 27:16you know, maybe in the sort of 60s, and 70s visiting various
- 27:20sex clubs and sex shops and things like that.
- 27:22Maybe we just do. Let's go shopping, I think so.
- 27:26Yeah. For a little handbag, you know,
- 27:31all of time, and space pod casts would like to know.
- 27:35Honestly, people are trying to be very busy with these
- 27:37Questions, who would win in a clash of the booth bonds between
- 27:40David Campbell? And Steven, Taylor are Steven
- 27:43Taylor and he any day, he's got a much better wig and I feel
- 27:48like, you know, his hair. Just it says, just solid and
- 27:51stays there the whole time throughout time and space, he's
- 27:53got so much volume. It's like his Hamilton, a power,
- 27:56some here in it. Okay, one last one then for this
- 28:02episode. David, brynnie asked that
- 28:04episode 1 Cliffhanger what on Earth.
- 28:07You think that Dalek has been doing under that will walk?
- 28:11You know what I saw that? And I thought, well, he's
- 28:14probably just crossing from the other side, you know, that's
- 28:17what I thought. Yeah.
- 28:17He's just, he's just gonna cross the river.
- 28:19Yeah. If I could, I live on the River
- 28:21Thames, and if I could get to the other side by walking
- 28:24underneath, I absolutely bloody would, but it's not to be.
- 28:28So the Daleks I've got a lot because they're better than us.
- 28:31This happiness, Water Taxis. Don't know.
- 28:32They can go straight in, right? Yeah, they do.
- 28:35But they don't, they don't float around the bit where Where I am.
- 28:38It's very disappointing. Oh really?
- 28:40Yeah, that's where you are there but then everyone would know
- 28:42where you live. And well, I mean I'm not gonna
- 28:44give my full address and its parts of the talents of when
- 28:57triangle filmed here many years ago.
- 28:59So I live about five minutes away from Professor Lightfoot
- 29:02spouse and the opening bit where they pulled the body out of the
- 29:06river and is you go That'll make it all sick.
- 29:08That word here is government will not serve that with onions.
- 29:14That's it. You don't, you don't live round
- 29:17where they did that entire Terry Nations Army video.
- 29:20Do you round there? No.
- 29:22It's so it's, there's various points along along the river
- 29:27that all of them reasonably walkable from mine, but I think
- 29:30that's obviously the other side. So, it's unfortunately, when I
- 29:34watched that video, I was like, I'm going to see my house and
- 29:36the answer is no. No.
- 29:37Also I live in kind of a newer build further down the road,
- 29:40rather than the lovely Victorian houses which warehouses that are
- 29:46very, very expensive. Well you've kind of been very
- 29:50specific whilst not being specific at all for people can
- 29:54sort of throw the fan mail in that general direction.
- 29:56Yeah, they should. Look at it.
- 29:58They could probably find my local by easily from from what
- 30:01I've just said. Leave it there then folks, but
- 30:04you and I are heading into the Day of Reckoning.
- 30:07Hang on. Wait, you ready to face this?
- 30:10I'm ready to face this. Let's do it.
