- 1:32audio form. Obviously it's still available in audio form, but One of the
- 1:38things that I always wanted to transition to and it took me some time because
- 1:42I wanted to have the right setup and situation was a YouTube version of the
- 1:48podcast, and that's what we have now. Right now, I think we're
- 1:52at four hundred and ten subscribers, so we only need ninety more. So,

- 2:21the podcast in so many ways. You can help out, but most importantly
- 2:25sharing this kind of content with people that you know would also enjoyed. It's
- 2:34just that simple. Big shout out to hip Hop dx dot com, All
- 2:39hip Hop dot Com, Ambrosia for Heads, and Double x lmagazine dot com
- 2:47and a couple of places where I'm getting some of these stories from. Let's
- 2:51get right into the business. So q Tip recently celebrated a birthday. Happy
- 3:00birthday to the legend and hip hop, production and rapper. All of that.
- 3:05Do not debate, do not revise history. I said what I said
- 3:08the track on quest q tip, but he basically got a lot of fans
- 3:15excited, included this fan. I even put it, even put a T
- 3:19shirt on. That's how I like. That was about new music. And
- 3:25we know in the past he had mentioned this album called the Last Zulu,
- 3:30you know that he was working on. Well, apparently he's working on three
- 3:37albums, which I like it. But I'm afraid right, let's let's just
- 3:44get to the information. This is coming from hip hopdx dot com. Q
- 3:47Tip sparks fan excitement with new music teaser. A new seed has sprouted.
- 3:53Okay, I don't know what that means, but he's a quote from q
- 3:55tip on Twitter of you guys and thanks for the wishes. Music come and
- 4:03stay tuned. So when a fan asked them, when you say music,
- 4:08do you mean all three? Q tip replied, three, but some title
- 4:14changes on one of them. No, algorithm, A new seed has sprouted.
- 4:21So the all three is the three albums that he's referring to and the
- 4:27working titles. In twenty twenty one or in twenty twenty was algorithm Ryo Diaries
- 4:33and the last Zulu. Now I didn't remember. I don't remember this from
- 4:39twenty twenty, but it was twenty twenty. Y'all know some things we just
- 4:46hope we don't remember. But I I am excited, especially since that was
- 4:55four years ago and it's been even longer since the last T called quest album.
- 5:01Q Tip as a soloist is interesting because it's it's almost like a career
- 5:10that doesn't really exist. Yet he does have albums, right, He had
- 5:15the one joint that had viborate thing. I think it was called qualified or
- 5:23amplified. I don't know, amplified. I think that's what it was called.
- 5:28I did not like it. That's why in my memories, Like obviously
- 5:32there was a few joints on there, but I didn't like the direction of
- 5:36the music, especially considering you know, you talk about the abstract poetic.
- 5:43I kind of wanted that vibe. And then he did another album which I
- 5:46don't know why. I can't remember it at this point in time, but
- 5:48it's the one where he got like the MPC in front of his face and
- 5:53he got sued on that album was dope. That was the to me,
- 5:57that was the pocket for a q Tip be that guy, you know what
- 6:01I'm saying, some hip hop, some soul, a little flavors of jazz,
- 6:06like just really soul fulfilled to his project. And then there was a
- 6:14at one point it was unreleased, but I think it's available on streaming services.
- 6:18The joint called Camal the Abstract. Now, most people woun't like that
- 6:23because that's less of the q Tip, you know, as far as rapping
- 6:27goes, and this was more of musician q Tip. You know, sure
- 6:34his vocals are on there, but it's just not the q Tip you're accustomed
- 6:40to. And I think that's what makes Q Tip as a soloist a little
- 6:46strange to anticipate because he's kind of you don't you can't predict what you're gonna
- 6:54get from him, right The stuff you don't like, you don't know if
- 6:58you're gonna get that. The stuff you do like, you don't know if
- 7:00you're going to get that either, So it's a little frustrating. But if
- 7:05he's talking about a trilogy of albums and hopefully a real rollout that we can
- 7:12get behind, then I'm willing to listen to whatever he drops because I like
- 7:18the idea that I think he's probably sitting on a ton of music over the
- 7:24past couple of years, and maybe it's time to release it. So we'll
- 7:28see, because I just hate when dudes like that, who you know,
- 7:31probably stay in the line, but often just don't release anything. Maybe they
- 7:36produce for other people, but as far as their own music, just really
- 7:40don't release anything. And they say stuff like coming soon, like we've been
- 7:45hearing Muddy Waters too from Redman is coming soon for so long that I don't
- 7:51even care. And I love Muddy Waters and I love Redmn, but at
- 7:59this point time, I don't know what that project is because if it was
- 8:03that hot, you would have put it out. Maybe you're looking for a
- 8:07situation. I get it right, You don't just want to put something out
- 8:11and get pennies for your hard work over the years. But stop teasing it
- 8:16because it's not it don't have I'm not it. I don't have any anticipation
- 8:20for it. I don't know when it's gonna drop. I don't know if
- 8:24it will drop. But I also know that if Eric Summon ain't doing the
- 8:28bulk of the production, I probably won't like it. I'm just saying how
- 8:35I could be wrong, but hey, we'll see. But this this looks
- 8:39interesting from Q tip, But in twenty twenty he teased it and now you
- 8:46know, four years later, it just happens to be his birthday and he
- 8:50teasing again, and I don't know if. I don't know if I could
- 8:52get that excited. So we'll see when it comes out. So we got
- 8:58to stop the press. This is real quick. Me Tony from Into Dome
- 9:03Into the Doome dot Com and Kill from Apartment five ft podcast did a collaborative
- 9:09special bonus YouTube exclusive episode talking about jay Z jay Z Well it kind of
- 9:18fits, don't it, talking about j Cole's apology to Kendrick Lamar while he
- 9:26was doing his Dreamville Situation Festival on stage. For those who don't know those
- 9:31who are listening audio form, I'll put the link to that episode in this
- 9:37episode's description so you can go and check it out yourself, because it was
- 9:41YouTube exclusive, partly because this podcast is a family podcast and it is typically
- 9:48no cussing, but we were cussing a lot on that joint, so I
- 9:52was like, well, I'll just make it a YouTube joint, because honestly,
- 9:56I didn't want to sit there and clean an hour and thirty minutes episode.
- 10:00I just didn't want to do it, but nevertheless, it'll be available
- 10:03check out if you're on YouTube, check that out also. But this is
- 10:09the craziest battle of artists I've ever seen in the history of hip hop.
- 10:20It really is in a lot of ways. It reminds me, and I'm
- 10:26gonna tell you why, of the Avengers teaming up to fight Danos. At
- 10:31this point. The latest news after the apology, J Cole shows up on
- 10:43a surprise appearance on stage with Bass I think that's his name or Boss,
- 10:50and he kind of forgets his lyrics as he's rapping. Now, these kinds
- 10:56of things happen, right, You got so much music, so many songs.
- 11:01Yes, it's your job to perform and write music, so honestly,
- 11:07anything and everything you do should be top of mind because it's what you do
- 11:13for a living. So I'm not gonna crush J Cole for that, but
- 11:18the internet is, and they really crushing them now because Metro Booming and Future
- 11:26released their follow up to an album that was just released not that long ago
- 11:31that contained the Kendrick disc that this Drake and J Cole. That album was
- 11:37called We Don't trust You. This new album, which is all new,
- 11:43not a deluxe, it's called We Still Don't Trust You, and it features
- 11:50the Weekend who throws some shots at Drake asap Rocky who also throws shots at
- 11:56Drake, but also J Cole and Jacob's not dissing Drake, He's just rapping.
- 12:07And most people, probably like myself, believe this is something that was
- 12:11recorded way back. But in this game of chest or Checkers or whatever,
- 12:18metro Booming in future are doing assembling the Avengers against Drake. Now, they
- 12:24just threw down the extra Big Joker because they put an album out that has
- 12:30a J Cole verse on it, the album directed at Drake that also features
- 12:37J Cole. Drake fans Drake Stands. I'm a Drake fan, but there's
- 12:50Drake Stands and that's what I want to talk about. Are referring to Drake
- 12:54without a disrecord response to anything like that yet as Thanos, and they're saying
- 13:01it from a position of power, right show he must beat Danos. They
- 13:07teaming up against him. Dog Thanos died in Endgame. I don't know if
- 13:13you want to beat Thanos. You might want to beat Thanos in Infinity War
- 13:18but when Endgame happened, they killed them twice. Sorry if you haven't seen
- 13:22the movie, but it happens. Okay, still good to watch both of
- 13:26them. But J Cole being on this project. You know, the Internet,
- 13:33they sometimes y'all don't think things through. Sometimes y'all ignore the context for
- 13:39the headline. You know. It's like when you see a big free on
- 13:45something and you're like, oh, it's free, and they got all kinds
- 13:50of poisons and stuff like that and whatever. So everybody trying to say J
- 13:54Cole switch sides. Now, of course switch sides. It's just a perfect
- 14:01move by metro Booming in Future to put J Cole on this project because it
- 14:09just feels like I'm gonna get where it just against him. And what makes
- 14:15it feel like J Cole is even though he's not doing it. But what
- 14:20it makes it, why it makes it appear that way, is the fact
- 14:24that when Jacole apologized to Kendrick, he basically was bailing out of the situation.
- 14:33Right, Kendrick is dissing me and you, Me and you. That's
- 14:41all we got c MB, right, it was just me and you.
- 14:46You go in. I might be hyped a little bit because you kind of
- 14:48win it, or at least he went in first. Oh he caught catching
- 14:52man straights. Okay, but wait you quit? Okay, you know I
- 14:56know your spirit and all that good? All right, cool, I get
- 15:00it. Let me give my disrecord up. Wait what you're on a side?
- 15:05You're on ay album now, They're gonna be number one again next week
- 15:13and you with them. You're gonna get a bag for this. You might
- 15:18get a plaque for this. This is crazy. Now the fan fall off
- 15:28theory. I don't want to be that guy, but this is the theory,
- 15:33and then I'll tell you what I think about it. The theory is
- 15:37is that j Cole is doing all of this to fall off amongst the fans,
- 15:48right because this new album coming up is called The fall Off. Right.
- 15:52So, Kendrick, this is me. I put out a whack this.
- 15:58Everybody says it's like they argue, Yo, it wasn't really that blah
- 16:02blah blah. I commit a cardinal sin and hip hop. I bow out
- 16:06of a battle that's not beef. It's not dangerous. It's just a battle,
- 16:11and I'm out because I couldn't take what people thought about it. Then
- 16:15I go on stage to do a show and I forget my lyrics. Man,
- 16:21I'm falling off. And then it appears that when I was in alliance
- 16:27with this dude, I'm on the other side the fall off. That's the
- 16:36fan theory or the stand theory that's starting to spread around a little bit now.
- 16:41Some people really like it because it's almost like a method actor, right,
- 16:49just every day walking around preparing for a role that you have no idea
- 16:56about, so you just think, oh, he's crazy now, like Joaquin
- 17:02Phoenix did it right, Remember when we had the big beard and crazy hair
- 17:06and glasses and he was going he was going on talk shows. He was
- 17:08doing all kinds of crazy stuff. But it was just for a film.
- 17:18Method acting. Right. Here's even a little smaller one when people thought,
- 17:23Yo, Denzel getting old and looking washed because he had the one big mustache.
- 17:32And then you realize he's in a Western and that's why he had the
- 17:37mustache and he cut it off after the movie. People think this is all
- 17:42a part of j Cole's playing for his album Rollout for the fall off.
- 17:49Now, if he revealed that to be true when the album dropped, I
- 17:59get it, but I don't know if you can recover from it. People
- 18:06don't like being tricked. They don't like being food into believe in something just
- 18:14for you to say the jokes on y'all. It was all a part of
- 18:19the fall off. And when you think about it, someone spend too much
- 18:29more time on this won't move on to something better when you think about it,
- 18:33right, I would like it as a concept, especially if you use
- 18:40you know, or you ask permission. Right. You get some of the
- 18:44things that academics was saying about you, Joe, butten's other random people on
- 18:48podcasts, like how everybody was talking against you. Maybe they in on it
- 18:55so they can get the sound bites on the album. Maybe they in on
- 18:57it. I just don't think the reaction is going to be what he would
- 19:07want. It could be a fall off for real. Right now, I
- 19:11don't think j Cole is falling off. I just think he's just having a
- 19:17bad run at it. But I don't think this is the way to go.
- 19:26I don't think this is the way to go. I'd rather him use
- 19:32some of that as a result of what's happening, but not do a haha
- 19:37got y'all. You know what I'm saying. It was the rollout for this
- 19:41Out, because is everybody a part of your album? Rollout Future, metro
- 19:47Booming a part of that, Kendrick a part of that, Drake a part
- 19:49of that. Like, the only thing that would be acceptable of Aha,
- 19:57we Got y'all is if Drake, Kendrick and j Cole say Boom Big Three
- 20:07album we Got y'all and it's fire, then I'll just be happy, Like
- 20:11hey, I'll be happy more so for Ja Cole to be like, okay,
- 20:15good man, because I was gonna say, you're looking soft. I'll
- 20:21take that. Those three. I think that would be actually dope because I
- 20:26think they could cover so much ground musically as artists. I would love it.
- 20:33But they just being J Cole's thing. Nah man, the internet is
- 20:37not forgiving. It will just make you look cornier if that's what you're doing.
- 20:45But if you say, and I don't know, maybe the fall Off
- 20:51starts with a song called the Big Three and the Big Three are on it,
- 20:55Yeah, then maybe I don't know. So I don't know. We
- 20:57just have to hear this album. I hope this isn't true. I hope
- 21:02there's a whole different situation with The fall Off, because at the end of
- 21:07the day, we just live in a world where even if people love what
- 21:12he's doing and champion it, they will forget about it soon, very soon.
- 21:18Everybody was just talking about Diddy every day and then it's happened, So
- 21:25something else can happen and we just switch off to that, so we'll see.
- 21:30And lastly, so with all of this, who's better the Big three?
- 21:41We still don't trust you. We don't trust you. Album. You
- 21:45know, there's a lot more music out there. Might delete later, right,
- 21:52there's a lot more music out there then, you know hip hop social
- 21:57media would suggest. And in June, around June or whatever, I usually
- 22:03do the best of the year so far, and I wanted to do a
- 22:07segment that now I'm not even gonna do it because I didn't want to really
- 22:11commit to having to do that every month. But I wanted to do a
- 22:15segment where I said, basically, and I had brought a guest on,
- 22:21these are the best albums of this month, because so much music gets released
- 22:26that it's hard to keep up on, Like I have albums in the queue
- 22:33that came out this year that I haven't listened to yet. Because I also
- 22:37don't want to move through music so quickly that the ones I like I never
- 22:41listen to or I never go back because now I got ten more I got
- 22:45to listen to for the first time. But usually I don't let that stop
- 22:51me, and there's always those projects that are in my heavy rotation. Like
- 22:56I'm usually they're my go to's. Now, there's a lot of music that
- 23:02came out, but I just want to keep this simple for that well,
- 23:06a lot of music that came out that I think is dope. If I
- 23:08had to do a best of the Year, a lot of this music would
- 23:12be in it. But I'm only going to stick to the three I am
- 23:15listening to currently because I just did my go tos, so one of them
- 23:22would be Huss Kingpin and Ninth Wonder's Super Goat. When I tell you,
- 23:30let me be clear, this came out in January, right when I tell
- 23:33you that, I listened to this all the time, and I didn't listen
- 23:40to Huss Kingpin all the time. I think there's something about what he does
- 23:47lyrically that goes so well with the dope. Production of ninth one is production
- 23:53on here is just perfect for me. It's just perfect. It's a perfect
- 23:59album with variety throughout the subject matter obviously, and don't get it twisted.
- 24:04It's not like crazy, but it's enough, right, It's enough to fit
- 24:12the vibe of this album, and it's so dope like it it's so dope.
- 24:17So that's one that's in my heavy rotation to this day since January.
- 24:22Going strong Benny the Butcher, everybody can't go now. If you watch my
- 24:30review of this album, I came away disappointed, but I still felt like
- 24:36it was a good album. I'm a big Benny the Butcher fans. It's
- 24:41Kendrick Ransom, Conway and Benny Like when they have new music, it don't
- 24:51matter. I'm downloading instantly because I know I'm gonna like it. And I
- 24:53was a little disappointed because I thought this album would be better, But every
- 24:59time I press play is meeting what I need at the moment. Right as
- 25:07far as the music now, will it be in my top five at the
- 25:11end of the year. I don't think it will survive, to be honest,
- 25:14because it's not just about how often I listen to them, but it's
- 25:18about the overall quality of the album. And I just feel like some projects
- 25:23that have come out, and some that have probably come out, I don't
- 25:29see it being in my top five, but I do see it being in
- 25:33my best of the Year category because it's it's one of my go tos right
- 25:40now. I just throw it on and it's exactly what I want to hear,
- 25:44you know what I'm saying. In my third and this is difficult because
- 25:49there's a couple of joints that I would have put in this category, but
- 25:56it's Davies and scram Jones for the love. Now, the first two joints
- 26:03I mentioned, Husk Kingpin and Benny the Butcher, are kind of in the
- 26:07same lane, right, boom back, hardcore lyrics, gangster lyrics, whatever
- 26:12you want to say, right. Benny's album is a little bit more on
- 26:18the mainstream, polished version of that, if that makes sense, and the
- 26:26Husk Kingpin joint is more on the underground feel right, Well, this is
- 26:33more of variety. This is not Davis being a bar king. This is
- 26:40Dav's making a project about relationships, right, and not in a corny way
- 26:48or way that doesn't seem true to him. That's what I like most about
- 26:52it. Sometimes when rappers make records for the ladies, they make what they
- 26:57think rappers usually, right, They rhyme a certain way with their voice,
- 27:03like they're talking to the ladies, like they emulate ll in a lot of
- 27:07ways, which makes sense, right, go anyway, right, immlate the
- 27:12goat. But it's one of those things, right like where you just kind
- 27:18of like, I know, with me sometimes I kind of tune out.
- 27:22But the wave Dave East does it, it's so sincere and true to who
- 27:26he is that it's a relatable as a dude. It's relatable, and I
- 27:33love the nineties aesthetic that comes with this album, mainly sitcom aesthetic. Right.
- 27:41Martin really plays a big the whole Martin and Gina stuff, some living
- 27:47single in there. Like I just love it, man, and I really,
- 27:52I really feel comfortable saying it will probably be in my top five of
- 27:56the year because I like variety and I like when artists do something different but
- 28:02they fully commit to doing something different. Those are my three as far as
- 28:08heavy rotation. I listen to either one of those three at least once or
- 28:14twice a week. Obviously there are others, and just for a bonus,
- 28:21I'll give y'all bonus of rotation two albums or two projects that could replace the
- 28:27two of the joints in this rotation, one being Ransom and Heavy Fraud Lavish
- 28:37Misery. That's a really dope joint. Just bars, That's all it is,
- 28:41is just bars. That's what ransom do you listen? Listen to this
- 28:48man he's technician with the bars. And the other one is from a while
- 28:53ago, but I'm still bumping it. The Color Chocolate Volume one EP.
- 29:00But Shade in the Wild Ransom's on here, also your old Drew evidence for
- 29:07track EP. It's really dope. She can honestly ride out the year with
- 29:12that project, even though I know she got an album coming. If this
- 29:15is a preview or what's to come, I'm with it. I like it,
- 29:21like it a lot. So there you have it. What is in
- 29:23your heavy rotation? Three albums? Two honorable mentions? Leave it in the
- 29:30comments section below. Maybe I've heard them, maybe I haven't. I would
- 29:33love to check them out. Obviously, there's a list of music coming that
- 29:38I have in the queue to listen to. Maybe i'll review them here.
- 29:42I'm not sure, but there's so much more hip hop out there than this
- 29:48hip hop beef where honestly, it feels like we've been waiting for it to
- 29:53explode, and it keeps imploding in a lot of ways. Subscribe wherever you
- 30:03listen, as far as podcast goes on Apple podcasts, review it on Apple
- 30:08podcasts, Spotify, and everything else. But also we are trying to get
