• 1:10
Speaker A: A twelve cow. Twelve cow. A twelve cow is my guy. That's the number one thing you all need to understand about that. Twelve cow is my guy. All right. South Carolina. Atlanta. You know what I'm saying? That's my southern brother right there. You know what I mean? And from time to time, man, we. We swap episodes, we help each other out. Ghostwriters, ghost Riders. That's crazy. And then sometimes we just remix and then that's what the goal is. Twelve cow for this episode, you got to remix this. Because if anybody know about cruising, it should definitely be twelve cow. We coming up on the introduction to that freaknick documentary. And I know he was involved in that. I mean, he was staying in that land at the time. You couldn't tell me. I know you was in Magic City. I know you was twelve cow. It wasn't no social media back then, bro, but they did have those. They had those camcorders. They had those home camcorders. Those are the ones that you used to see in the documentaries where it was like a crazy death or something like that. And then they have all the footage before they died. That's the way it looked like. You know what I'm saying? The Blair Witch project. Camcorders. You know what I'm saying? Those were the camcorders that twelve calendar gang had. And you all was at freaking it. I know you all was. We can't wait for that doc to drop pops. Yeah. But until then, we going to teach them a little trait about how we get down with this music. It's a music trait that we all share. Well, some of us, you know what I'm saying? And it's where we know how to separate the hits from certain categories. And one of those categories is cruising, you know what I'm saying? Old school term, you know what I'm saying? Out here, out west, I can't speak for too many cities, you know what I'm saying? But my own south central, we got Teshaw, we got sunset, we got Broadway, you know what I'm saying? And on Broadway is mostly low riders. Crenshaw, you're going to have a mixture of shit, you know what I'm saying? You're going to have the low riders, you're going to have the car clubs, you know what I'm saying? You're going to have cats that got money, you know what, yo? Crenshaw, like, the Crenshaw district might be the Harlem of LA, right? You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying, right? But it was cruising. Cruising. And that's what this episode is about. I want to know what's your top cruising songs of all time? I'm talking about, these are classics. Now, some of them are going on a way to be in classics because they fairly new, right? That song that you just finished hearing, that's Jason Cash latest song, nobody, you know what I'm saying? Featuring Zoe Osama and the Eastie boys, you know what I'm saying? So it got that old school feel to it. I played that about 5011 times. When he finally dropped it, we was barking on. No, we was barking on his IG. Like, bro, drop that. Send that straight. I need to get that through iTunes, Rocky, ASAP. And we waited patiently, you see what saying? So they did a phenomenal job. It's a banger. My boy, Markel, I sent it to. Markel sent it to me, actually. He was like, man, what is this right here? I'm telling, I told him I had to put them on. I had to put them on, you know what I'm saying? But look, I'm going to have some tracks that you probably never heard. But for the most part, man, I'm also going to hit you all with some tracks that you have heard. Now, again, this is cruising. This is when you in your car, your truck, Astro van, Mustang six foe, you know what I'm saying? Camaro eight, nigga Ultima and your baby mama Nissan Ultima. Yeah, the Honda Accords. Come on, dog. Now I'm 41, I'm that dirk, you know what I'm saying? So I'm in a Camry. I'm in the Camry. Look, the Camry can push a little bit once you get up on that hunted. Is that more fucking it feel like a Lamborghini, is it? Nah, nah, but it's fuel efficient, more than whatever. But these songs right here is cruising. You locked in with the streets that day, that night. You know what I'm saying? Like I said, you got the Shaw, you got sunset, you got other streets out here as well, you know what I'm saying? Manchester, you know what I'm saying? Going down there in the Westwood area where the Bruins is at, you know what? Hollywood, the valley, it's different places. I'm not know. Hey, shout out to Uncle Dolomite. He could tell you about the streets in Compton mostly, probably where you shouldn't go. But I'm that little Compton. The niggas in Compton listen to music. Everybody ain't that tough. Niggas listen to r and b, to old school. Plenty of low riders being Compton with the old school, you know what I'm saying? And it's just, I told twelve cow to do a top ten. I'm sorry, twelve cow can't do it. I'm not even about to rank these, but I will play one special one that's like. There's different levels of this, you know what I'm saying? But as far as like cruising on a Saturday, one of those Saturdays where you want to be out the house, it's summertime, you know what I'm saying? You're going to go get some, going to get some, I don't know, some sweets, some donuts or something. Some designer donuts at the mall or some shit like that. Go. Probably go pick you up some kicks, you know what I'm saying? Go shopping. Gives you some fresh new draws. Because the old ones got holes in them. But whatever it is, you just got that feeling. Just some great cruising music. Fresh is our turn, baby. When this came out, twelve cow, when this came out right here, you had to have a sound system for that. I know we get on Birdman Bumper about how he rap and who writing this shit, you know what I'm saying? Because we know what it is, you know what I'm saying? Shout out to manny fresh. But this right here was.
• 8:07
Speaker B: But that's okay. Cause I still.
• 8:17
Speaker A: In the e class band. That's a good one though, right? You gotta admit, twelve guy, that was, that's a banger right there. That's a banger. If queen poison is listening, I'm going to need that top ten. I'm going to need ten from you all now. I'm going to go over ten because it's my show. I pretty much do what I want. You know what I'm saying? And I'm not like, if you got a problem with my list, have a problem, explain the problem.
• 8:45
  Speaker B: Them.
• 8:45
Speaker A: I would like to talk about it. I'm not going to be like the one. That's my opinion. And then you can make it. No, I want you to make your own. And I want you to complain if you got a problem with it. Because if you got a problem with tracks like this, when you in the streets. Hey, Marquise, come on, man. Hey, I got New York. I got me visiting New York soon, okay? But before I could even get there, my first time. And it's going to be a blessing. But just to know, like, I've been on this side of the planet for a while. I've been close to New York. I had an opportunity to go a couple of times. Just never happened. But the picture he paints right here, and this is a top three song of all time.
• 9:45
Speaker C: It ain't hard to tell. I excel, then prevail. The mic is contacted, I attract clientele. My mic check is right for death. Breathing a sniper's breath.
• 9:54
Speaker A: Breathing a sniper's. And again, some of y'all was young, so y'all just don't know. But y'all was looking out the window when pops and uncle was pulling off. When they was pulling off, y'all was looking out the window. Y'all was looking out the window. Let me explain something, man. It ain't that hard to understand that when you get in the car, dog, it's car music. It's car music. Some of it make it to the club. Some of them make it to the crib. Some of it make it to the playlist. But for the most part, it'll always be attached to cruising in the car. And like some of the classics that are never, you got to understand certain songs belong in the car. But see, twelve cow, you don't understand. I've been doing this for a long time. I remember looking out that window at one point and hearing that version. That's crazy how that happened.
• 11:21
  Speaker B: You.
• 11:22
Speaker A: If you don't see a cat, if you don't see an older cat driving down the street to this, okay, car is shiny than a motherfucker and it's fur in the inside. It smells good. He got on cologne and the car got a different cologne. It's a different cologne scent in the car than what he got on. You got to take your shoes off before you get up in here. You eating food. Use a fool. You see the furry dice? Use a fool if you think you're about to eat something. That gas tank is big as a diesel, okay? You got to understand the parallel parking that motherfucker all day. He take up a block. He take up a block. When you playing shit like that's. But if I did want to rank them, if I did want to rank them, this will be number one. And when I tell you, I will fight every single one of y'all. If y'all don't think this is the number one cruising song of all time, you gotta be a motherfucking well.
• 12:42
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 12:43
Speaker A: I don't care what religion you are part of, okay? I don't care. I don't care how many Girl scout cookies you sell. You understand? Whatever bricks you getting off between February and March, that's none of my concern. Just understand shit like this. You're going to take Crenshaw, all right? You're going to go as far as you can go down. You got to hit sunset, but you got to stay on the shawl with this one you do. And you got to pull over. Get you pull over to winter snitzel. Okay. No, not me. No, I just told you how to go get a glizzy. But see, back then, we was cooler than that. We was cooler than that. They got hamburgers there. You asking Baylor, why would you get a hamburger from a hot dog spot? You right. So I'm taking my ass to Rally's, where they sell hot dogs at a hamburger spot. Hey, I'm going to go to rallies and get the rally fries, but this is going to be all. And for you niggas that don't have great cologne for your car, get fabrize. Get something for it to smell good, all right? There was an era where niggas was putting tvs in their car and they put Lamborghini doors on Altimas and Camaros. I think this. But this song still applies. It still applies. It was still valid across the nation.
• 14:18
  Speaker B: Ain't no place I'd rather.
• 14:20
Speaker A: And it don't matter how old you are, bro. This is for generations. You know what I'm saying? This was generations. This was passed down. See, this? See, this is. See, this is. This is why we gonna have an issue twelve Cal is because cats don't like to listen. Cats don't like to listen. You know what I'm saying? I just picture that 5.0 man in minutes of society. That was facts. It wasn't nothing. You pulled up in that and it sounded like that was different. See? Twelve cattle. Wait, hold on. Twelve cattle? Think I'm old enough to know it? What? We lived it. We lived it. Y'all had to freak neck. Started in the late 80s, right? Y'all had that look, my hat that I'm wearing right now, taking it off. Legendary. This documentary going to expose some people, but it's legendary. Fine as aunties was on there. It's the fine ass aunties. It's the petty aunties. Yeah, I get it. I get it. But we still had. It was no problem.
• 15:58
  Speaker B: Computerized, digital.
• 16:06
Speaker A: That's crazy right there. And you knew that. Twelve cow. You knew that. You knew that. And that's cool. I'm glad you knew that. I'm glad you knew that. But I wouldn't. Biased, bro. I didn't just stick with that. I just didn't stick with the west coast and the Odys. No. As you heard in the beginning, I opened up with some southern shit. You know what I'm saying? Later on down the line. I ain't even hit y'all off with the classics yet. But sometimes, like on a Saturday morning, you want to go. It's just one of those. And you all know what Saturday mornings I'm talking about. It's a vibe, bro. It's a vibe that is so many different combinations, you know what I'm saying? Doctor strange type of vibes and shit like that. Outer body experiences and stuff like that. And sometimes. Sorry, I'm getting choked up. Sorry about that. Damn. It's just thinking about it like, you know, what type of mood you think you got to be in. And listen to a classic. Like, do you roll the windows down on this one? It might be a top five beat of all time. Because it's crazy. You got to roll the windows down. It is. You got to roll the windows down to this twelve Cal. You have to. I'm talking to you, Cal.
• 17:37
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 17:43
Speaker A: I reminisce. No, big Mike. You thought she was going. Nah. And we still waiting for you to return. Season over. You told me that yourself. Time to get back to it, bro. What was y'all listening to over there? In the DMV? We take the Odyssey's out. The Odyssey's isn't part of the Bible, so we know y'all was listening to the same oldies. But what else? What else? Because I'm coming with. I told is a. This is literally a classic episode. And he already know why? Because I haven't missed yet. I even got to the rainy days in the fall or in the winter. You know what I'm saying? Where the holidays just surrounding you, you know what I'm saying? You might have seasonal depression, and you might need some of them tracks that just help you out. It's like the track understands you. That's crazy. Nobody in the pod fam can match this playlist, though. I don't think so. I don't even think. Greg. Greg, don't. This is crazy right here. This is what you got to roll the windows up to, because it's raining.
• 19:02
  Speaker C: I can't get up. I can't get up.
• 19:08
Speaker A: Whatever I'd be doing, I'd be doing it real good. That's what I'm trying to say. You know what I'm saying? I know you all had to cruise to this, even if you don't. Ivan said he don't like DMX like that. That's crazy. I think he got Eminem over DMX. That's hate mail. No, that's hate mail. He'd been asking for for the longest. I'm not sure how you get that. I'm not sure how that makes sense, especially in February. I mean, I know we in March now, but I'm just saying, every February, you still feel like Eminem is better than DMX. That's a wild boy. But this song right here, you back on my feet.
• 19:45
Speaker C: So I can't. I can't get up. I can't get up. I got to get up, get back on my feet.
• 19:56
Speaker A: And sometimes you just want to get back into that vibe. Maybe you down a little too much, you know what I'm saying? But you need a little pick me up. Something that you can groove to. You know what I'm saying? You got plenty of that. I used to remember you was conflicted. A lot of people feel like K Dick don't have those type of records, but that's not true. This is jazzy than a motherfucker, right? What you think? Twelve cow? Am I pushing the envelope a little? Too much? Too much West coast artists? Because we got a lot of West coast artists on this. On this episode. Almost. Almost as if I was a little west coast biased. But have I missed yet? Have I missed yet? I don't think I missed yet.
• 20:45
Speaker B: She just want to close the eyes.
• 20:53
Speaker A: I don't see how cats, like, disagree with KDOT's discography overall. I get it, though. I mean, everybody got different tastes, bro, you know what I'm saying? You got to talk. Somebody got to be the bad guy. Hey, I remember bringing up the a's when I was telling him about. Because twelve Cal going to tell you when his peak years is, but I know he know about the. He got me by ten. So I know he had a whole totally different experience in the 80s than I did. But that don't mean that I didn't hear what I needed to hear. And I was closer to it than he was because he said, if you listen to some of his latest episodes, when he talk about music and west coast artists in general, hey, they was getting a lot of east coast stuff because they right there, you know what I'm saying? As far as somebody, it was almost like certain cats had the tape and they got it from an undisclosed person or area or something like that. West wasn't dropping like that over there, you know what I'm saying? So when music back then was cherished and loved and appreciated in worship, why? Because it was hard to come by. It's not like how there's a new track or two or three five piece, six piece ep dropping every day, feeding like over. You're obese with the music now, you know what I'm saying? But back then, word got around town that, oh, man, you heard that new short like, you all wasn't cruising this in the cow. I don't think I lost. I'm up by like 30.
• 22:41
  Speaker C: She loved.
• 22:42
Speaker B: The way I rock on the microphone.
• 22:44
Speaker A: When I met Jones that beat is crazy. And all the girls he named. First of all, that track is like nine minutes long. Second of all, all them girls that he named was that freaknick. That's a fact. Okay, so twelve cow. I've done my research, brother. I've done my research, you know what I'm saying? I do got a lot of West coast cats on here. But this is a certain vibe that we put together to make driving like dope. It's a vibe to it. If you pay attention to how the song start and how it pop off when the beat drop.
• 23:25
  Speaker B: Reviving. It's about.
• 23:33
Speaker A: This is an LA track, but you could play this just about anywhere. Brooklyn stand up in the summertime turn this up. Come on, Jarv, don't be like that. Wait, hold on, Jarv from the rap roundtable. Let's not do this, bro. You know what it is? You know what it is? Okay, I need you to play. Y'all need some, some music to ride to. You don't need all the metaphors. You don't need all them punchlines all the time. You don't need autumn lyrics that we're going to take back home. We going to break down and say, oh, my God, let's put this in a library. Not like that, but I'm just saying, just vibe out a little bit.
• 24:15
Speaker B: Turn up I liquor. Beautiful day in LA. What can I say?
• 24:24
Speaker A: That's smooth, right? Oh, no, that's move right there, Manny. I just want to have a good time. Shout out to Manny. Manny. Manny from the East coast, too. He's from New York, too. Okay. You know what I'm saying? And many know Manny. Know better, man. Every day I pray for a better tomorrow. And you know what? When I do that twelve cow, I think of inspirational songs and things like that that I could listen to, that I could feel good. Sometimes I don't want to be on that gangster shit. I don't. Sometimes I want some positive. Sometimes I don't even want words. Sometimes I just want something mellow, like with some butterflies and shit. You know what I'm saying? Go get you a three piece from Louisiana chicken. Not Popeyes, Louisiana. Better season there. And just chill. Get you a drink. You know what I'm saying? The great. I like root beer. Y'all drink root beer. Look, see, Tevin Campbell flipped it. But this right here, though, you might need to eat edible to this. It might help. That's hard, though. You can't even fake that. That's hard. Now, here's one thing, though. This is like top three West coast legend, though. And it's like, you don't necessarily have to. I see a lot of low riders playing this than any other vehicle. Maybe Astro vans or El Caminos. El Caminos, for sure. Right? But I think one of the top three beats of all time, something they don't get talked about. I think Megan used it. I think samples it the last that sample did. But this right here, though, woke up.
• 26:43
Speaker C: Quick at about noon. Just thought that I had to be in compton soon. I got to get drunk before the day begins, before my mother starts bitching about my friends about to go. And damn near went blind. Young niggas at the.
• 26:57
Speaker A: That's crazy. I know. Twelve cow giggling now he go, a and welcome to the twelve cow show. I'm your host, twelve cow. Hey, check this out. Today, that's how he going to get down. Hey, that is.
• 27:23
Speaker C: And grabbed my clip with the Mac ten on the side of my hip. Bells outside and pointed my weapon just.
• 27:30
Speaker A: As I talked, the fools kept stepping that's crazy. Do you all still consume regular music? Because. All right, look. I look at music like food, okay? The 70s provided a lot of great meals. Full course dinners, a nice packed lunch. Hefty, hefty breakfast. We talking about when niggas had pancakes, waffles and french toast. All on the same goddamn table. Scrambled eggs, your choice of sausage or bacon. Paws, you got some fruit cut up. That's what the 70s provided, you know what I'm saying? And then you got the. Had a lot of fast pace, you know what I'm saying? They still had some soul. I mean, the soul never went nowhere when it came to the r and B. But it's definitely some cocaine shit going on, you know what I'm saying, at the end of the day. But I will say in today's music, am I a little concerned? Yeah, I am. Because they don't really provide full meals, you know what I'm saying? Not like back in the day, man. It's just not like that. It's not like how it used to be. And I know a lot of old heads, they use that. They say that a lot. A lot of old heads say that a lot. Is it hate? I guess it is. I guess it is. But I don't think it's far from the truth, though. You know what I'm saying? The 90s, when it came to rap, it provided a lot of visuals, a lot of filters, a lot of vintage filters that the. When you look at. When you look at the West coast, the aesthetic was dickies, Nike, Cortez, Pendleton's, you know what I'm saying? Shit like that. Chucks, Laker attire, Raider attire, you know what I'm saying? Niners and shit. Like, can you could just picture the landscape when we talk about palm trees, New York, you know what I'm saying? You see the subway system, gritty, a lot of buildings, skyscrapers and shit like that. And then it's like a soundtrack that's attached to the filter that you could all relate to. And I'm not even going to say that's like a prominent cruising type of song. But if it came on, you know what I'm saying? You're not turning it off, you know what I'm saying? It's one of those classics. You know what I'm saying? And I think at the end of the day, you get attached to that, man. We get attached to that. And did I sing two west coast buyers when it came to the cruise? I did. Because it's easy. It's low hanging fruit. You know what can I. What I can. You would think I would know more about my own backyard compared to the field, I should say. That doesn't mean that I didn't pay attention to the field or anything like that, but I did, you know what I'm saying? I'll never forget about the different places. Know. Had a heavy contribution in hip hop history, including New York. And we had a battle with New York, you know what I'm saying? But we still banging a shit, you know what I'm saying? We were still on this show playing all kind of Jay Z, big. Well, Wu Tang. Yeah, I mean, rough riders for show, you know what I'm saying? Red and meth was, come on, man. Come on, man. We ain't got to do that. And even when we go out there, we pay our respects by playing some classic cruising tracks that I know that they up so much.
• 32:08
Speaker B: People, New York City, New York ain't always what it feels you might get.
• 32:26
Speaker C: It's the incredible, deliverable. You can't be me, like, niece to see me.
• 32:30
Speaker A: And that's cool. I know they love me for that one. They crazy. Hey, boy. Hey. Shout out, man. I need your top ten. Top five, top five. I don't want to work. I don't want to give Jarv too much work, man. That's a busy guy over there. He's running a lot of stuff, but that's it. Twelve cow. That's all I got right now. You know what I'm saying? There's more, but I wanted to give you some songs that was special to me when it came to this cruising shit. And there's plenty more because you got to think about it every decade. It should change. I wouldn't necessarily say change, but it just added to it, you know what I'm saying? It was a lot of car hits. A lot of car hits, you know what I'm saying? I didn't really touch on the r and b side of it, you know what I'm saying? Not like how I wanted to. But at the end of the day, hey, to all my other listeners and podcasters out there, even if you're not a podcaster, let me know. Hit me up. You know what I'm saying? Text. Yeah, you got to slow down on that. See, the feedback that I get through text messages is dope. But for some reason, I wanted to be, like, just Twitter content, tone, you know, what I'm saying? But look, who am I to complain? What? I'm out. I'm out. Hey, twelve cow. Get that list together and don't worry about it being ten. Just make sure it makes sense. You know what I'm saying? All right.
• 33:56
Speaker C: They tell them catch me outside like I'm bad, baby give it all to my mama sheet a bad lady.
• 34:03
  Speaker B: Tell.
• 34:03
  Speaker C: Them I'm a big fat.
• 34:06
  Speaker B: Cut it.
• 34:07
Speaker C: With the chitchatter backseat blamping in the boat full of bitches I'll be off drugs on stage like a bitch ain't dog what's the wizard? Cup full of mud y'all still sipping scissor make a bit disappear like a wizard no love for Bobby, kick it to the kid nerve, you bizarre I ride around with two blocks a cup full of watches movie at the movie got me feeling like Rocky dropped out fast I was a high school doc they've been on my dick since I sold out the Roxy big bang oozy, but I ain't no stinky that bitch don't get right for that ring just like winky my son ain't no sucker he ain't looking for his bingo hoppy flamed up north, north when you beat me, tell him catch me outside like.
• 34:43
Speaker B: I'm bad, baby give it all to.
• 34:45
Speaker C: My mama she the bag lady, give it a dick she going to act Brazil how to feel in love with.
• 34:50
Speaker B: The cash, baby tell them catch me.
• 34:52
Speaker C: Outside like I'm bad, baby give it.
• 34:54
Speaker A: All to my mama she the bad.
• 34:56
Speaker C: Lady, give it a dick, she going to act brazy how to feel in love with the cash bite.
• 35:01
Speaker A: Oh, wait. Britt, Britt, Britt. I forgot. I forgot. No, I don't want to say that, because I don't want to start a fight. I'm about to say, you don't want to smoke. But that's just the Capricorn. I'm naturally. Look, I need that top ten, Britt. I need that top ten. Okay? You work on that. Matter of fact, you work on that.
