- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's
- 0:09Speaker 1: avigion welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered. Until he acknowledges on his
- 0:20Speaker 1: side that he's ours, then I'm still salty about it.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I want him to want to be with us exactly,
- 0:27Speaker 1: you know that, just want me? Could this be the
- 0:30Speaker 1: first ever fred Evan argument? I'm not arguing, Well, he
- 0:33Speaker 1: disagrees with you about what, like you said, it was nice,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and he's disgusted by it. Paul's trying to pick a
- 0:38Speaker 1: fight here. I agree, he completely disagrees with you. I
- 0:42Speaker 1: don't understand how you can think about the same thing.
- 0:44Speaker 1: He's mad at Tom, Yes, but he still wants him
- 0:46Speaker 1: to come back. But he's mad at Tom. You're not
- 0:49Speaker 1: look like a it's just bumps me. Did did you
- 0:52Speaker 1: catch that one too? He looks like a fraud because
- 0:54Speaker 1: he is one. Nat Wow, nasty. Somebody hurt you Evan? Yeah,
- 1:02Speaker 1: like the ex girlfriend that got away. Yeah, this is worse. Yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 1: come back and grovel at my feet. I just want him.
- 1:09Speaker 1: That's it, That's what it is. Can't you just fake it?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Just exactly like you don't even have to mean it.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Deep down. This is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Dunking. All right,
- 1:22Speaker 1: we're here. I we're waiting for Fred. I'm not sure
- 1:24Speaker 1: where he is. Uh. Here we are pass Fred. We
- 1:29Speaker 1: don't know what to do there, empty chair, just waiting
- 1:31Speaker 1: for him. But hey, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Here we
- 1:34Speaker 1: are Thursday. It's deuced, it's Alex, it's Paul Parillo, and
- 1:37Speaker 1: we'll probably have Fred joining us here shortly. We're live
- 1:40Speaker 1: on video as well, if you'd like to tune in
- 1:42Speaker 1: and see our faces. Big show today, Big show Conna.
- 1:45Speaker 1: We got super Bowl preview talk some super Bowl. Oh yeah,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you got the lines on these prepared I didn't. I didn't. Well,
- 1:55Speaker 1: we had a big meeting today. We did. We did.
- 1:57Speaker 1: We reviewed all our content for the year. A long meeting.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Was a long meeting and and seeing what the fans
- 2:02Speaker 1: were responding to this year, all avenues of social media, Instagrams, algorithms,
- 2:09Speaker 1: which you know we're talking about Snapchat too. I didn't realize,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and Paul, you wouldn't. You wouldn't have believed it, But
- 2:14Speaker 1: Paul was the expert on Snapchat and then bags Snapchat guys,
- 2:17Speaker 1: was not the experts. It's like my son's both use it.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I don't know, I said, walk it down that I
- 2:22Speaker 1: just thought Instagram, sorry, Snapchat, was you send sexy pictures
- 2:26Speaker 1: to somebody and then they disappeared forever started. Let's be serious. Yeah,
- 2:34Speaker 1: So it's a little peek behind the curtain here at
- 2:36Speaker 1: Patriots dot Com. So, uh, you know, we see but
- 2:39Speaker 1: a pretty good year. You know, overall, I think everybody
- 2:41Speaker 1: did pretty well, worked hard, and uh, you know, obviously
- 2:44Speaker 1: we're tied to some of the results on the field,
- 2:45Speaker 1: so it's a little bit challenging always depending on how
- 2:48Speaker 1: they're doing well or not. But any who is it's
- 2:50Speaker 1: it's we're here. We'll be here for the next two hours.
- 2:53Speaker 1: We'll we'll have Evan coming down for the end of
- 2:55Speaker 1: the show and talk some Super Bowl and of course
- 2:57Speaker 1: Catch twenty two will be on the edge of this
- 3:00Speaker 1: one right at the end. Two to two to three
- 3:02Speaker 1: four is somewhere in there, depending on how long Alex
- 3:06Speaker 1: and Evan decide to talk, which you know, could be
- 3:09Speaker 1: a while. We'll see um Evan's mock draft plenty to discuss.
- 3:12Speaker 1: We're getting into draft and all that. But I don't
- 3:15Speaker 1: know about you guys, but I'm just kind of ready
- 3:17Speaker 1: to get the Super Bowl. I'm excited to watch it,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but I'm ready to get past this and get really
- 3:21Speaker 1: into the off season because you're in this period for
- 3:24Speaker 1: all these teams that lose coming into the super Bowl.
- 3:27Speaker 1: You're just kind of waiting for all. Right, when are
- 3:28Speaker 1: we on the official offseason? When an't we all back
- 3:31Speaker 1: at the bottom of the mountain to to start to
- 3:33Speaker 1: climb again? And the lot going on too in the
- 3:36Speaker 1: off season we get into scouting combine and owners meetings
- 3:40Speaker 1: and the draft and all that fun stuff. So excited
- 3:43Speaker 1: to turn the page. But what, Alex, I'm gonna start
- 3:45Speaker 1: with you, what are your what are your plans for
- 3:46Speaker 1: Super Bowl this weekend? Here? Oh, my friend just had
- 3:49Speaker 1: a baby, so I'm gonna go to her house, meet
- 3:51Speaker 1: the baby. We're all going to watch the super Bowl,
- 3:53Speaker 1: hopefully not be too loud for the baby, but really
- 3:55Speaker 1: looking forward to it. Wow, that's that's stressful. I imagine
- 3:59Speaker 1: how it's going to ask him my wife, Hey, we
- 4:00Speaker 1: just had a newborn. I'm gonna have people over for
- 4:02Speaker 1: the super Bowl and I probably that probably would not
- 4:03Speaker 1: have a very small intimate group all right, that's good.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But she but unfortunately she might be she might be
- 4:08Speaker 1: dealing with the baby a whole time. I don't know
- 4:10Speaker 1: which of the game she's gonna get. She's not a
- 4:11Speaker 1: big football person. It's uh so or her boyfriend thing
- 4:14Speaker 1: help her? Yeah, take the baby off her hands, and
- 4:17Speaker 1: I'll bring some food over and entertain her baby daddy.
- 4:21Speaker 1: That's a big question in my house, is what's the
- 4:23Speaker 1: food going to be? I think, Oh, I thought it
- 4:25Speaker 1: was who's the baby daddy? I know, I know who
- 4:33Speaker 1: my baby daddies are. It's me um, but yeah, just
- 4:36Speaker 1: tough like you. What are we eating? I think so?
- 4:38Speaker 1: At least the younger one looks like me, but the
- 4:40Speaker 1: older one looks just only like my wife. So, customer,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I think you are the father. We're a little too
- 4:48Speaker 1: deep on that right now, but all right, I'll stop.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I gotta u. Yeah, we gotta figure out what we're
- 4:52Speaker 1: gonna do, like, you know, nacho plates or some taco
- 4:55Speaker 1: dip wings, buffalo chicken dip. I don't know yet. I
- 4:58Speaker 1: haven't thought that far. You are you ordering? I assume yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 1: we're ordering for the most part, but we have not
- 5:03Speaker 1: finalized the menu, and I I'm not sure exactly how
- 5:07Speaker 1: much help I'm going to have because Beth has to
- 5:09Speaker 1: work over the weekend. Out free me now, Dad, And
- 5:13Speaker 1: you got two high school kids who well, yeah, I'll
- 5:15Speaker 1: probably have like thirty people at the house. So I
- 5:17Speaker 1: got to figure that out at some point. Yeah, maybe
- 5:21Speaker 1: a catering, but definitely buffalo chicken dip. It will definitely
- 5:24Speaker 1: have the buffalo dip going. That will be a that'll
- 5:27Speaker 1: be a staple. All right, Well, what do we have
- 5:30Speaker 1: any any recent Patriots news? It's been kind of a
- 5:33Speaker 1: quiet couple now. We talked about the coaching, the coaching
- 5:35Speaker 1: changes with um Adrian Clem and will I cannot I
- 5:41Speaker 1: cannot say that name Lawing. It's not it's doesn't like
- 5:45Speaker 1: roll off the tongue. Something hard. You need like a
- 5:47Speaker 1: tea or some something like like the it's a hard
- 5:53Speaker 1: sound to like an unci yeah. Uh. And so assuming
- 5:57Speaker 1: he's gonna coach tight ends. We talked about a Lee
- 6:00Speaker 1: has gone to the Rams. I also saw that um
- 6:04Speaker 1: what's his name Ryan went went to the Rams as well.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I know a lot of teams seems like waiting on
- 6:10Speaker 1: the colts. The Colts are kind of dragging their feet
- 6:12Speaker 1: a little bit. On this head coaching front. I feel
- 6:14Speaker 1: like that's kind of stopping things up. And now you'll
- 6:16Speaker 1: wait till after the Super Bowl. I would assume, yeah,
- 6:19Speaker 1: team's trying to get offensive coordinators. I know, And I
- 6:21Speaker 1: saw some rumors about Eric B. Enemy being up for
- 6:24Speaker 1: like an offensive coordinator position. Is that would he make
- 6:26Speaker 1: a lateral move like that? That seems kind of silly
- 6:29Speaker 1: to me. You know, I don't pretend to be the
- 6:32Speaker 1: foremost expert on Eric B. Enemy, but I saw people
- 6:36Speaker 1: tweeting yesterday. You know, I think field Yates are good,
- 6:40Speaker 1: good Buddy field Yatz. He had like five years of
- 6:45Speaker 1: Kansas City's offense with Eric B. Enemy as the play caller, aspires,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I understand it. Eric B. Enemy has never been the
- 6:51Speaker 1: play caller for Kansas City, and that's part of what
- 6:54Speaker 1: I think has been holding him back. And a lot
- 6:56Speaker 1: of people have pushed back the other way, saying, well,
- 6:59Speaker 1: Doug Peterson wasn't a play caller and Matt Nagy wasn't
- 7:02Speaker 1: a play caller under Andy Reid either, and they got
- 7:05Speaker 1: head coaching opportunities. Why hasn't Eric B. Enemy? And I
- 7:08Speaker 1: don't know the answer to that, but I just think
- 7:11Speaker 1: that to say I don't really think it's my understanding
- 7:14Speaker 1: he hasn't ever consistently called play I'm not saying he's
- 7:17Speaker 1: never called plays in a game, but I think Andy
- 7:20Speaker 1: Reid has been the primary play caller throughout his tenure
- 7:22Speaker 1: in Kansas City. Yeah, it seems like it. I mean,
- 7:25Speaker 1: certainly a guy who's had success though. But I mean
- 7:27Speaker 1: then we get into all the offensive coordinator stuff that
- 7:29Speaker 1: we talked about with Bill O'Brien and last year and
- 7:32Speaker 1: everything of having that experience as a play caller being
- 7:35Speaker 1: and I think you said it, Paul as like if
- 7:37Speaker 1: it was a rele feature, you need to to take
- 7:40Speaker 1: that next step, right, Yeah, I mean, I just I
- 7:44Speaker 1: think that some of these guys, you know, the coordinators,
- 7:48Speaker 1: I think you need to at least get to that
- 7:49Speaker 1: level to get really into the head coaching circles. You know. Yeah,
- 7:55Speaker 1: if you're not if you're not a coordinator, it's hard.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I think it's hard to make the jump. It's not impossible.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Guys have done it, but I I mean, I think
- 8:01Speaker 1: you have to be calling plays on both sides of
- 8:05Speaker 1: the ball, you know, defensive coordina, offense, whatever. You have
- 8:07Speaker 1: to be calling plays and running you know, some sort
- 8:10Speaker 1: of offense, some sort of program, and other than India,
- 8:12Speaker 1: there any head coaching positions still open? Was there another one?
- 8:17Speaker 1: So Carolina, Carolina, Arizona is still open, isn't it? Arizona,
- 8:23Speaker 1: Arizona and Indie? Right they? You know, Houston is Damika Ryans.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Obviously Denver was Sean Payton, Carolina Carolina was Frank Reich.
- 8:31Speaker 1: And then the other two I think is Arizona and Indie.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I think they're both still vacant, still waiting. I saw that,
- 8:37Speaker 1: like Brian Flores was a candidate in Arizona, but he
- 8:40Speaker 1: has recently taken a defensive coordinator job in Minnesota, replacing
- 8:45Speaker 1: ed Dontell. Good for him, yeah, I mean good in Minnesota.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I mean their defense was a train wreck. Yeah, spend
- 8:51Speaker 1: a year in Pittsburgh and yeah, I got a lot
- 8:54Speaker 1: of respect for b Flow. We'll see how he does
- 8:57Speaker 1: with with Kevin O'Connell, couple other Patriots. Guy. Um, you know, Paul,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I there was some much thing I want to bring up.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna bring up something with you since I since
- 9:05Speaker 1: Fred's not here and I get to kind of run
- 9:06Speaker 1: the show for a moment coming I know. I mean
- 9:10Speaker 1: we just sat with him for two hours. What happened? Okay,
- 9:13Speaker 1: he spent he spent half the meeting making fun of me.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So send a wellness check at a lot of a
- 9:17Speaker 1: lot of talking about Fred hopefully, hopefully he'll walk in.
- 9:21Speaker 1: But I want to talk just about something Andy wrote
- 9:24Speaker 1: yesterday and very common thing that people are talking about,
- 9:27Speaker 1: um with T Higgins and you know, the Patriots should
- 9:31Speaker 1: pursue te Higgins. And I want to say at the
- 9:33Speaker 1: top of this, like I get it, like they need,
- 9:35Speaker 1: they need any plus weapon that they can get UM.
- 9:39Speaker 1: But I just wonder, is this just kind of a
- 9:41Speaker 1: reaction to what the Eagles did last year with A J. Brown?
- 9:44Speaker 1: And would this occur to anybody had the Eagles not
- 9:47Speaker 1: kind of made a similar move. Now for me, I
- 9:50Speaker 1: see a J. Brown as a number one receiver, and
- 9:53Speaker 1: I just wonder with T. Higgins, and we hear so
- 9:55Speaker 1: much of the last few years they got a bunch
- 9:57Speaker 1: of twos and threes. Do we think te Higgins is
- 10:00Speaker 1: two or three or do we think he's a potential
- 10:02Speaker 1: number one? Now I went and looked at some of
- 10:04Speaker 1: the numbers and he when when Jamar Chase was out
- 10:06Speaker 1: this year, he performed very well like he he had
- 10:08Speaker 1: some real good games, So I think he's a consistent guy.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Every all three of his years, he looked like, um,
- 10:13Speaker 1: you know a guy who just is consistent in producing.
- 10:15Speaker 1: But I just and it's just such a popular hot
- 10:18Speaker 1: button topic. I didn't want to pick on Andy, but
- 10:20Speaker 1: I just thought, you know, it's this stealing my take. Yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 1: that's no, but but a lot of people have talked
- 10:27Speaker 1: about this, and that's I just I can't help but
- 10:29Speaker 1: feel like, is this really the guy? Like and again
- 10:32Speaker 1: A J. Brown, I'd be all for it, you know, Like,
- 10:34Speaker 1: I think he's a number one, he's a beast, he
- 10:36Speaker 1: brings a whole thing. I just don't know about te
- 10:38Speaker 1: Higgins and if this is just a reaction to certainly
- 10:41Speaker 1: a Patriot's need, but is this really the guy that
- 10:43Speaker 1: they need to come in and really make the difference.
- 10:46Speaker 1: That's what I'm Yeah, I mean I think he is. Um. Now,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and banging the table saying, well,
- 10:51Speaker 1: you had a disastrous offseason because you didn't make this
- 10:53Speaker 1: trade for te Higgins and I'm not I'm not saying that,
- 10:56Speaker 1: but I do think that he has enough of a
- 10:59Speaker 1: sample side is where he is the guy, and the
- 11:02Speaker 1: offense looks very similar, if not the same, And I
- 11:06Speaker 1: think he has the size to be a number one
- 11:09Speaker 1: kind of guy. I mean, I mean, obviously Chase Is.
- 11:12Speaker 1: You know, Chase was a top I think he was
- 11:13Speaker 1: the fifth pick, you know, top five pick. So Chase
- 11:17Speaker 1: Is has elevated everybody. But he was there before Chase.
- 11:20Speaker 1: And he had a step in when Chase was out
- 11:23Speaker 1: for a good stretch last year in the production. You know,
- 11:26Speaker 1: I was when the Bengals were playing their best football,
- 11:29Speaker 1: was in you know, November and December when they went undefeated.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So I do think that he would transform the offense.
- 11:35Speaker 1: But I think I think Cincinnati thinks that too, you know,
- 11:39Speaker 1: And I don't know, you asked the question like would
- 11:43Speaker 1: people be saying this if not for what happened last
- 11:45Speaker 1: year with Philadelphia? And maybe not, But I do think
- 11:49Speaker 1: much like when Peyton Manning changes and by the good news,
- 11:52Speaker 1: Fred Kirsch is on his way, He's on his way.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Much like when Peyton Manning switched teams from you know,
- 11:58Speaker 1: India to Denver and newly, you know, when you started
- 12:03Speaker 1: to see quarterbacks changed teams, well, you never really thought like, geez,
- 12:06Speaker 1: can we make a move to get Aaron Rodgers. You
- 12:09Speaker 1: would never think that. But then once quarterback movement among
- 12:13Speaker 1: high profile quarterbacks starts to happen, you start to think, well, yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 1: why not. Why couldn't we do that? And I think
- 12:18Speaker 1: same thing with all those wide receivers that entered the
- 12:22Speaker 1: last year of their rookie deals and sort of started
- 12:24Speaker 1: to make a fuss like, oh, you know what, I know,
- 12:27Speaker 1: I have another year in my rookie deal, but you're
- 12:29Speaker 1: gonna pay me now or trade me. Yeah, So the
- 12:32Speaker 1: precedent's been set. And I used the four guys that
- 12:35Speaker 1: did it last year very successfully. Two of them changed teams,
- 12:38Speaker 1: two of them got deals. And I think that Cincinnati,
- 12:41Speaker 1: when push comes to shove, we'll do everything in their
- 12:44Speaker 1: power to keep that together at least because I think, yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: because I think that you have you still have Chase
- 12:49Speaker 1: on his rookie deal. Borrow is going to get paid
- 12:51Speaker 1: now more than likely. And I think Higgins would look
- 12:54Speaker 1: at it and say, why do I want to leave this?
- 12:57Speaker 1: We're gonna have I'm gonna be very successful, we're gonna
- 12:59Speaker 1: have a very good offense, and we're gonna have a
- 13:01Speaker 1: chance to win the Super Bowl. Where do I want
- 13:03Speaker 1: to go, then maybe he might look at it differently
- 13:05Speaker 1: after that, What do you think it would potentially take
- 13:07Speaker 1: to get him, Like, I mean, what will be a
- 13:09Speaker 1: trade package? And do you think that the Patriots have
- 13:11Speaker 1: any non draft pick specific player assets to move, Like
- 13:15Speaker 1: it's no, it would have to be draft picks, you know,
- 13:17Speaker 1: because I mean, I would you know, probably a first
- 13:20Speaker 1: round pick, but maybe you know, could have two, could
- 13:22Speaker 1: have two, three. But why would you want to do that?
- 13:24Speaker 1: I know, it's it's almost a swap at two guys
- 13:26Speaker 1: that are in the last year of their deal. And
- 13:27Speaker 1: maybe you know what I mean, like, yeah, I'm just
- 13:29Speaker 1: trying to think of somebody who moves the into Hi, friend,
- 13:31Speaker 1: what are we talking about? Higgins? T Higgins? Andy's piece
- 13:34Speaker 1: about te Higgins And uh yeah, that was that we
- 13:36Speaker 1: were trying to just treb water without you. We were
- 13:37Speaker 1: like you were talking about Rodgers. Were no. I was saying,
- 13:40Speaker 1: like you would look at it, you know, maybe ten
- 13:43Speaker 1: years ago, and you would say, well, you know, I
- 13:44Speaker 1: can't get it. Aaron Rodgers. Why am I going to
- 13:47Speaker 1: even think about trading for him? That that's impossible. But
- 13:50Speaker 1: when you start to see high profile quarterbacks changing teams,
- 13:53Speaker 1: Now it opens the door and people go into this
- 13:55Speaker 1: season say, yeah, why not Aaron Rodgers? I could I
- 13:57Speaker 1: could make a trade for Aaron Rodgers. Same thing with
- 14:00Speaker 1: these high profile wide receivers. Five years ago, I would
- 14:03Speaker 1: have said te Higgins is on his rookie contract, Why
- 14:06Speaker 1: would Cincinnati want to get rid of him? Right? Yep?
- 14:09Speaker 1: But they might not want to get rid of him.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Te Higgins might say, bleep, you trade me unless you're
- 14:15Speaker 1: gonna pay me, right, And that's why he could be
- 14:17Speaker 1: available now. I don't think he will because I think
- 14:19Speaker 1: he will look at it like I just said, I
- 14:22Speaker 1: can win a Super Bowl here. I'm going to be
- 14:23Speaker 1: very successful in this offense. I have Joe Burrow throwing
- 14:26Speaker 1: me to football. Why do I want to go into
- 14:28Speaker 1: the last year my deal on an offense that has
- 14:30Speaker 1: a lot of question marks? Yeah? You know. So, I
- 14:33Speaker 1: don't think that te Higgins will do that, but he might.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Who knows? Is there anybody else out there? Sorry, Fred,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna let you get any here. It's okay. I
- 14:40Speaker 1: just is there anybody else out there? And I haven't
- 14:42Speaker 1: seen it mentioned. It's just everybody's like T Higgins, T Higgins?
- 14:44Speaker 1: Is there anyone else out there in this kind of position.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I think Jerry Judy is the other one like that one.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I like that one too. Yeah, and you know you
- 14:51Speaker 1: have Alabama. You have a little bit of the Alabama
- 14:53Speaker 1: connection even though they really didn't. They know each other,
- 14:56Speaker 1: but they didn't really play that much together at all. Um,
- 15:03Speaker 1: same kind of deal going into his I think this
- 15:06Speaker 1: is his fifty year option year. Right. Has he been
- 15:08Speaker 1: a disappointment a little bit? But I mean the offense
- 15:11Speaker 1: has been a train wreck. Yeah, Russell Wilson, And which
- 15:15Speaker 1: is why I think he's more attainable because he might
- 15:17Speaker 1: look at it and say, I need to get out
- 15:19Speaker 1: of here. My career is dying because this guy can't
- 15:20Speaker 1: throw the ball anymore. Yeah. How does he feel about
- 15:23Speaker 1: Sean Payton too? And Yeah, I don't know where that
- 15:24Speaker 1: direction I would. I would say that probably eliminates him,
- 15:26Speaker 1: because Sean Payton is pretty smart and if he can play,
- 15:29Speaker 1: he'll probably find a way. But at the same time,
- 15:32Speaker 1: Sean Payton had a wide receiver who was pretty productive
- 15:35Speaker 1: and during the last year of his rookie dealt Con
- 15:39Speaker 1: Cooks and the Patriots made a trade for him. Yeah,
- 15:42Speaker 1: brand Brandon Cooks, all right, Um, so you've been talking
- 15:46Speaker 1: about possible free agent movement, big name free agent movement. Yeah,
- 15:50Speaker 1: well I brought up that Andy's article. We talked in
- 15:53Speaker 1: a little little super Bowl, you know, plans this weekend
- 15:55Speaker 1: for people, food, Yeah, those kind of things. What will
- 15:58Speaker 1: you guys be doing? Group? I don't group, family get together.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Alex has got a baby shower during I'm gonna be
- 16:05Speaker 1: a shower vacation during this. So you're where you're so
- 16:10Speaker 1: you're out next week where and you're headed to So
- 16:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna be watching on the beach. You're shutting all
- 16:16Speaker 1: my TVs off there? Yeah? Oh boy, oh oh, what
- 16:22Speaker 1: do you mean you're getting flagged? Oh yeah, yeah, we
- 16:27Speaker 1: shouldn't do that. No one wants to watch bast for
- 16:29Speaker 1: me and Paul last week that woman's basketball game. For
- 16:32Speaker 1: some reason, we are glued too listen any any any
- 16:37Speaker 1: amateur sports. Paul's into. This is why I don't come
- 16:40Speaker 1: in in the front. Thursday and Friday, the high in
- 16:43Speaker 1: the Bean PA Final on Monday night, Sky is knocked
- 16:46Speaker 1: off his hated Terriers feast and first did it's the
- 16:51Speaker 1: first time. The line on that it's the first time.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Howard should be there isn't that crazy to you that
- 16:55Speaker 1: this is the first time in seventy one years. It
- 16:57Speaker 1: speaks to the first two schools. Oh come on? Or
- 17:02Speaker 1: how BU and BC are hockey factory? Yeah, not not invited.
- 17:10Speaker 1: We have his little brother, it's too far. You got
- 17:12Speaker 1: a little macar Yeah. Oh, he's fun to watch, the
- 17:15Speaker 1: big one. I talk about disappointments this year. So what
- 17:17Speaker 1: are the storylines? What are the storylines? Do we have
- 17:21Speaker 1: Patriots or Super Bowl related or anything like that that
- 17:24Speaker 1: we need to place on the table here. Yeah, that's
- 17:27Speaker 1: what I mean. We're trying to take through any Patriots takes.
- 17:29Speaker 1: And there wasn't you know, not a lot going on
- 17:31Speaker 1: the last two days. I think a lot of it's
- 17:33Speaker 1: just been the super Bowl build up and how healthy
- 17:35Speaker 1: is Patrick Mahomes And you know, listen to a lot
- 17:37Speaker 1: of the takes of of you know, I just I
- 17:40Speaker 1: respect a lot of people I've heard on the radio
- 17:41Speaker 1: just saying like, you just can't rule out Patrick Mahomes,
- 17:44Speaker 1: like in this game. And even if you would think
- 17:45Speaker 1: that the offensive line and defensive line advantages go to Philadelphia,
- 17:49Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes is the wildcard this weekend. And you know
- 17:52Speaker 1: how he kind of does that that could very well
- 17:54Speaker 1: determine what the game is. Yeah, so I mean if
- 17:58Speaker 1: they if he comes out and looks like nothing's wrong,
- 18:01Speaker 1: I'm I'm sure people will be looking into what did
- 18:03Speaker 1: they do over these last two weeks to get him ready?
- 18:06Speaker 1: And like people are going to be clamoring for whatever
- 18:10Speaker 1: that technique was for going forward for other guys who
- 18:14Speaker 1: have high ankle sprains, like people like Mac Jones will
- 18:17Speaker 1: be like, we'll just do what Patrick mahomestay, right, right, Yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 1: there's no way I think that he could be one
- 18:24Speaker 1: hundred percent. No, I just don't think, but I want,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I mean, I do wonder what the status is just
- 18:29Speaker 1: in terms of having played a game on it and
- 18:30Speaker 1: now you got two weeks off. Is that a good
- 18:32Speaker 1: thing to get a game in and and and kind
- 18:35Speaker 1: of get used to it and know what you're dealing
- 18:36Speaker 1: with or did that set them back? Maybe? Yeah? I
- 18:38Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know either, but we'll see, we
- 18:40Speaker 1: will see all possibilities. Yeah, I would say he's not
- 18:44Speaker 1: as healthy as he would have been. Hey, did you
- 18:46Speaker 1: know that the Kelsey's are brothers and they're playing against
- 18:49Speaker 1: each other in this guy? Is that true? I have
- 18:51Speaker 1: heard something about it, and their mother is going to
- 18:53Speaker 1: be there, Cooper. Cooper kept their mom makes a lot
- 18:58Speaker 1: of those split jerseys. Yeah, I did see she big.
- 19:01Speaker 1: She like gave them both cookies and it just looked
- 19:03Speaker 1: like classic mom bag of cookies, like Jason Kelsey, but
- 19:06Speaker 1: like from the way they did it. They were on
- 19:08Speaker 1: stage and like she comes up behind him like it's
- 19:10Speaker 1: a surprise, like she was coming back from war and
- 19:12Speaker 1: they hadn't seen her. But you know, it's one of
- 19:15Speaker 1: those Twitter like, you know, it's like, don't like three
- 19:21Speaker 1: hours earlier. You know, those military reunions get me every
- 19:24Speaker 1: time with the kids, So yeah, forget, I know, but
- 19:28Speaker 1: it was just kind of I don't know even even
- 19:30Speaker 1: I think Travis admitted he goes even I'm getting sick
- 19:33Speaker 1: of my mom right at this point, you know, big
- 19:36Speaker 1: shocked that he's the one that's sick. Right. Jason was like,
- 19:40Speaker 1: I love my mother. She's a saint. Yeah, um Dorothy Mantooth.
- 19:45Speaker 1: But you know, I think I think there's some pretty
- 19:46Speaker 1: good buzz around the game this year. You know it's
- 19:49Speaker 1: a good matchup. Yeah, I agree, good matchup. I think
- 19:51Speaker 1: what I'm what I'm kind of like and I haven't
- 19:54Speaker 1: didn't watch a lot of Philly this year. I just
- 19:55Speaker 1: I feel like I have an inflated opinion of Philadelphia.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Perhaps I think the maybe because I'm impressed by their
- 20:02Speaker 1: two lines winning, Yeah, winning, But you know, then I
- 20:05Speaker 1: turn on the radio and I hear, oh, they haven't
- 20:06Speaker 1: beat anybody, think. And then I hear about Chris Simms, who,
- 20:10Speaker 1: like you know, usually I go the opposite him, but
- 20:12Speaker 1: he he hates Jalen Hurts too, I guess, and it
- 20:14Speaker 1: is just like making the rounds at radio Row, you know,
- 20:16Speaker 1: undercutting him, talking about that he's really not that good
- 20:19Speaker 1: at Yeah. I've I've been totally impressed with him. I've
- 20:22Speaker 1: watched no the Eagles. I know he was hurt Um,
- 20:24Speaker 1: but I mean, they just they're they're really talented team,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and that's hard. I just think it's weird and and
- 20:29Speaker 1: just how much people have been willing to dismiss everything
- 20:32Speaker 1: Philadelphia has done. Yeah, And I'm not I'm not trying
- 20:36Speaker 1: to tell you that I'm this huge Eagles fan or
- 20:38Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts fan. I think Jalen Hurts is uh progression
- 20:42Speaker 1: as a pastor to me is astounding. How much better
- 20:45Speaker 1: he is today year I mean in between Joe Joe
- 20:50Speaker 1: Flacco bathroom breaks we saw back in Philly last summer,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and listen, I have no doubts that they're doing things.
- 21:00Speaker 1: You know, stop me after you've heard this before, but
- 21:02Speaker 1: they're actually coaching, and they're accentuating the things that he
- 21:05Speaker 1: does well, and they're making it a little bit easier
- 21:07Speaker 1: for him, probably taking away some of the things that
- 21:09Speaker 1: he struggled with, you know, half field reads, you know, urpos,
- 21:13Speaker 1: you know stuff, using him more as an assholet I mean,
- 21:16Speaker 1: he rushed for almost eight hundred yards and I don't
- 21:18Speaker 1: even know how many touchdowns, the fourteen touchdowns, thirteen touchdowns,
- 21:22Speaker 1: whatever it was. Um, the guys had an MVP year.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I think he I think he has been the MVP.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I don't. I think Mahomes will win it going away. Um,
- 21:32Speaker 1: but we'll find that out tonight, right the honest I
- 21:35Speaker 1: think the NFL honors are time. I think just too
- 21:37Speaker 1: many people just dismissing him. He got bench in the
- 21:41Speaker 1: second half of the National Championship and it was the
- 21:43Speaker 1: right move and that's when people got out and they right,
- 21:47Speaker 1: I'm back in. You know, He's and they definitely not
- 21:49Speaker 1: a pure like passer. He's not a no. But I'm
- 21:53Speaker 1: not going to be confused with Tom bradyo Peyton Manning
- 21:55Speaker 1: as a pastor. But I think if he wins this
- 21:56Speaker 1: Super Bowl, I'm really rooting for him because I think
- 22:00Speaker 1: he is a winner. Yeah, I think he is a winner.
- 22:02Speaker 1: That's the night that he won me over as a fan. Yeah,
- 22:05Speaker 1: like fanboy Paul right, The way he handled that that
- 22:08Speaker 1: Fred's talking about was a style that like it was
- 22:10Speaker 1: the right move by Sabin to take him out. You
- 22:13Speaker 1: can't deny that day ended up winning the game and
- 22:15Speaker 1: they were behind. But and so because of that, people think, well,
- 22:19Speaker 1: he's not a winner. But I think he is a winner,
- 22:22Speaker 1: you know, um and I and I think he's proving
- 22:25Speaker 1: it this year. But he needs that big game win
- 22:30Speaker 1: against a good opponent and I think then people will
- 22:33Speaker 1: start to forget about Alabama. Yeah. The other the other
- 22:36Speaker 1: interesting like take that, I'm just kind of like, what
- 22:38Speaker 1: about was that their windows going to close soon? Like
- 22:40Speaker 1: they were like that was another talking point that I
- 22:42Speaker 1: heard that that Philly is kind of there now and
- 22:44Speaker 1: they've they've got to get one, Like, well, why I
- 22:46Speaker 1: think that was a Jerry Jones thing. Um, Jerry Jones
- 22:50Speaker 1: made a comment like they went all in on this
- 22:52Speaker 1: year and people are trying to figure out, why is
- 22:55Speaker 1: that accurate? I'm trying to figure out, you know. Yeah,
- 22:59Speaker 1: I mean I'm sure they signed something. I think Hassan
- 23:01Speaker 1: Reddick is a was a one year contractor I'm sure
- 23:03Speaker 1: they signed some free agents on one year deals. But
- 23:06Speaker 1: aj Brown they gave the bag too, so he's not
- 23:08Speaker 1: going anywhere. How many years is he got, you know,
- 23:12Speaker 1: So I don't understand why that's the case. I mean,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I think Bradberry may have been a one year deal
- 23:18Speaker 1: as well. But I don't think that that they're just
- 23:20Speaker 1: going to fall apart next year. I think they're a
- 23:23Speaker 1: pretty good team. What I've been stunned with is the
- 23:26Speaker 1: amount of they haven't played against anybody's. Yeah, that's the
- 23:31Speaker 1: other one. I mean, they played in a division that
- 23:33Speaker 1: had three playoff teams, right, and that winning streak at
- 23:36Speaker 1: the beginning of the year, Like, no matter who you're playing,
- 23:38Speaker 1: it's hard to string that many wins together, right, And
- 23:41Speaker 1: for the most part, they played pretty well. You know,
- 23:45Speaker 1: they had a couple of just like everybody else they had,
- 23:47Speaker 1: you know, Kansas. I mean, there was a stretch that
- 23:50Speaker 1: Kansas City was going over time with like Houston. You know,
- 23:53Speaker 1: I don't hear anybody saying they didn't play anybody, you know,
- 23:57Speaker 1: Is it just because the Chiefs have a track record
- 23:59Speaker 1: for five years, so they're overlooking it, you know, those
- 24:02Speaker 1: kinds of things. I think both of these teams were
- 24:05Speaker 1: two of the best three or four teams in football
- 24:08Speaker 1: from the start of the year on, and they they
- 24:10Speaker 1: stayed there. Yeah, they never I mean they both went
- 24:12Speaker 1: fourteen and three. They never really had any lulls, right,
- 24:14Speaker 1: And I don't think either one of them has trailed
- 24:16Speaker 1: in the playoffs. Is that. I think I saw that too,
- 24:18Speaker 1: that both of them have just I mean, obviously the
- 24:20Speaker 1: Eagles had pretty, you know, an easier kind of road. Yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 1: and that's I mean, the Eagles rode in the playoffs.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Is that's undeniable. Patriots mid two twenty tens, they had
- 24:30Speaker 1: two Tomato Can games. I guess the other thing that
- 24:33Speaker 1: is still h and Patriots fans mine is you know
- 24:37Speaker 1: what's going to happen with Tom Brady? After our show,
- 24:40Speaker 1: Robert Kraft, he had another interview with somebody with NBC
- 24:45Speaker 1: ten Malcolm Johnson, Yeah, and said that you know, he
- 24:50Speaker 1: wants to sign him to a one day contract, and yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know why Roberts stuck on that
- 24:55Speaker 1: in particular, but I think you know, the intention is
- 24:59Speaker 1: to do something, you know. Yeah, it's uh, I mean,
- 25:04Speaker 1: he clearly wants him to come back, and I mean
- 25:05Speaker 1: everybody wants him to come back. I think it's just
- 25:07Speaker 1: a question of what does Tom want to do, and
- 25:09Speaker 1: you know, what does he feel as appropriate, and you know,
- 25:11Speaker 1: hopefully they can they can all get together and figure
- 25:13Speaker 1: out something fun coming down the pike. Yeah, So internally
- 25:17Speaker 1: we've had fun over the last few days talking about
- 25:20Speaker 1: what should we do, what can we do? What are
- 25:22Speaker 1: the things that are on the table, you know, And
- 25:24Speaker 1: obviously this is all up to Tom Brady, you know,
- 25:27Speaker 1: so it's only just spitballing until he says what he
- 25:31Speaker 1: wants to do. But you know, you kind of want
- 25:33Speaker 1: to give him some options, like yeah, think so we'll see.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I mean, he's announced he's not going to be doing
- 25:40Speaker 1: UM broadcasting till twenty twenty four. So what did you
- 25:44Speaker 1: think of the Florio speculation that he may not be done?
- 25:48Speaker 1: Like that was him Florio? I think you can't help
- 25:50Speaker 1: but say that there's even even if it's small, that
- 25:54Speaker 1: there's a percentage that he could still play. Like, you know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I think I heard you on the One of You shows,
- 26:00Speaker 1: Paul say, hear me. You know if if a team
- 26:04Speaker 1: is down a quarterback going into training it because of injury,
- 26:07Speaker 1: you know, like it's gonna get the itch. Yeah. I
- 26:09Speaker 1: think that's the hard time too. I mean talked to
- 26:12Speaker 1: a couple of different football players who always say that,
- 26:14Speaker 1: like you don't care during the offseason, You're like, oh,
- 26:15Speaker 1: this is great, but as soon as like training camp
- 26:18Speaker 1: comes and like the smell of the grass and the summer,
- 26:21Speaker 1: Like I remember James Devlin specifically when I talked to
- 26:23Speaker 1: him from my article I wrote last year, saying that's
- 26:25Speaker 1: that's when it happens, like August, that's when you start
- 26:28Speaker 1: to get the itch and you want to play again.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Right now, he's probably just enjoying being away. I didn't
- 26:33Speaker 1: see let's share the mannings and they seem to have
- 26:36Speaker 1: something to do every day. I didn't see the thing
- 26:38Speaker 1: about by Florio. I would put that at less than
- 26:40Speaker 1: one percent. Like I maybe I'm being the naive one,
- 26:44Speaker 1: which I try not. I'm usually the cynical one. I
- 26:47Speaker 1: believe Tom when he said, you know, he kind of
- 26:50Speaker 1: was poking fun of himself, you know, this time for
- 26:52Speaker 1: good or whatever. But why when he was asked that
- 26:55Speaker 1: direct question recently? I think it was done as he
- 26:59Speaker 1: didn't answer it directly. I don't know what, like, you
- 27:02Speaker 1: haven't seen him talk, you know, it was all since
- 27:04Speaker 1: the video. Yeah, I think it was Jim Gray that
- 27:07Speaker 1: asked him the question and he didn't answer the question.
- 27:10Speaker 1: What Brady swore Jim Gray? Oh No, that was that was?
- 27:14Speaker 1: That was yeah, No, that was If I knew what
- 27:16Speaker 1: I was going to have and do, I would have
- 27:17Speaker 1: and done it all. Right. Now, this is just like
- 27:19Speaker 1: last week. Um you know wait sorry pause. I saw
- 27:22Speaker 1: him Colin so organic, No he asked him. He just
- 27:27Speaker 1: asked him this this week on the podcast and the
- 27:29Speaker 1: answer wasn't a yes or no. It was a lot
- 27:32Speaker 1: of filibustering. And you know, was that on this podcast
- 27:36Speaker 1: with Bill Because I didn't it might have been the
- 27:38Speaker 1: same episode, yeah sure, yeah, yeah, then why not just
- 27:41Speaker 1: go through the off season with just I don't know,
- 27:44Speaker 1: I don't know, like, why why would you come out again?
- 27:47Speaker 1: I don't know. It doesn't make any sense to me. Well,
- 27:50Speaker 1: I mean if you're saying no, and somebody wants you,
- 27:54Speaker 1: they have to come at your heart. If you're like
- 27:57Speaker 1: you know, then you lose, you know, you create level
- 28:00Speaker 1: rich for yourself. If you're saying you know, yeah, if
- 28:03Speaker 1: you're intimating anyway that I'm done, I think you're right, though, friend,
- 28:07Speaker 1: Like if like two of gets can cost like week
- 28:09Speaker 1: to a training camp, like right, you know, like that
- 28:12Speaker 1: just seems they come hard for Brady, right, Like that's
- 28:15Speaker 1: just he's sitting out. There's a great scenario. I think
- 28:18Speaker 1: teams that you know are a quarterback away, yeah and there,
- 28:22Speaker 1: and there's nothing on record, you know, there is on record,
- 28:25Speaker 1: like he said, you know this time, I'm done, you know, um,
- 28:29Speaker 1: But I don't know, you know, when Jim Gray asked him,
- 28:32Speaker 1: he didn't, he wouldn't say it. I just need to
- 28:35Speaker 1: see him get through in August. If I see him
- 28:36Speaker 1: get through through the end, to me, it's the season.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I think it's the regular once the games start. But
- 28:41Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe I'm being well, do you think though,
- 28:43Speaker 1: I got my eyes closed and I'm not paying attention
- 28:46Speaker 1: all the time. But because your scenario was very possible.
- 28:49Speaker 1: But unless he unless he comes back and like, does
- 28:52Speaker 1: really well does it? I mean, well, does it hurt
- 28:54Speaker 1: him to come back and just be on a middling
- 28:56Speaker 1: team that was just to collect a paycheck. The point
- 28:59Speaker 1: I was just gonna say to was, and we talked
- 29:01Speaker 1: about this last week, was, you know, the lack of
- 29:03Speaker 1: preparation this year being part of the reason why he
- 29:06Speaker 1: didn't have a great year, And does he recognize that
- 29:09Speaker 1: and is it going to be even worse if he
- 29:11Speaker 1: just tries to hop in week three well and try
- 29:13Speaker 1: to It's preparation and it's also passion, you know. And
- 29:17Speaker 1: his own father said recently he noticed a decline in
- 29:22Speaker 1: the passion over the last couple of years. I think
- 29:25Speaker 1: it's not paying more attention to his crap. Yeah, I
- 29:27Speaker 1: wonder why it's interesting to me, my entire personal life
- 29:30Speaker 1: falling apart, hard to get excited about football. Tom Senior
- 29:35Speaker 1: mentioned that, you know, and he would know, he's watched
- 29:38Speaker 1: his son his whole life, right right. I just never
- 29:41Speaker 1: thought that that's what would go. I thought that that
- 29:43Speaker 1: his his will to compete and to play would drag
- 29:47Speaker 1: him one year too far beyond what his body could
- 29:49Speaker 1: actually I think you can't. For whatever reason, they got
- 29:52Speaker 1: divorced you can't discount that whole situation that it tore
- 29:56Speaker 1: him mentally. Yeah, you know it. You know he lost
- 30:00Speaker 1: his focus because you know, he really was in both
- 30:04Speaker 1: trying to be in both places and trying to you know,
- 30:07Speaker 1: salvage this. And I think it really did take a
- 30:11Speaker 1: toll on him, and it took away his focus on football.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And once he came, once he decided to unretire the
- 30:17Speaker 1: first time, there's no discounting, like, you know, as he's
- 30:21Speaker 1: working out, as he's preparing for the season, how much
- 30:23Speaker 1: is that is he like trying to hide it, like, Alex,
- 30:25Speaker 1: don't worry about me over here. I'm I'm with you.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I'm with you when the kid. But but but like I
- 30:28Speaker 1: gotta I gotta work out and prepare and kind of
- 30:31Speaker 1: not let her see me that I'm doing it. I'm
- 30:33Speaker 1: not really all in, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I do, Like Tom right, don squats still, so no reason.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I think that's I think that's a huge I think
- 30:42Speaker 1: that's a huge part of it, because they didn't just
- 30:44Speaker 1: all of a sudden wake up on whatever the date
- 30:47Speaker 1: was that we found out that they were divorced, and
- 30:50Speaker 1: it was old. I mean, it was it was deteriorating, well, right,
- 30:54Speaker 1: him leaving, I mean, wasn't It wasn't that was reported
- 30:56Speaker 1: why he left training camp was I mean, that's speculation
- 31:00Speaker 1: trying to save it. Maybe that's the speculations. But I'm
- 31:03Speaker 1: talking about even in the off season as he's preparing
- 31:05Speaker 1: for the season. It's you know what was Ian Montana
- 31:09Speaker 1: with Daniel Mondola and Julian Edelman. I don't think so. Yeah, sorry, Alex,
- 31:15Speaker 1: And I think I think the final strung. You won
- 31:18Speaker 1: a super Bowl Tampa, why are you still playing? You know?
- 31:22Speaker 1: What have you? And I think that was so those
- 31:25Speaker 1: last two years in Tampa that those were probably miserable
- 31:28Speaker 1: for him and for her. Well last year, well two
- 31:32Speaker 1: years ago they were good, they were good. But I
- 31:34Speaker 1: really but I think he's he you know, mentally fought
- 31:38Speaker 1: through it. But I think it, you know, but I
- 31:42Speaker 1: just can't imagine that she was happy after you win
- 31:44Speaker 1: a super Bowl that you're going to keep playing now, Yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 1: you know, it seemed like the perfect kind of saloff
- 31:50Speaker 1: and at the sunset what it was. You know, no
- 31:52Speaker 1: one's really gonna I mean, everybody's gonna talk about that
- 31:54Speaker 1: super Bowl that he won away from here nobody's really
- 31:56Speaker 1: gonna talk about these last years. You quit on top, Yeah,
- 32:00Speaker 1: could you have kept playing? You could have? And that's
- 32:01Speaker 1: part of what makes it great. It's like, who knows
- 32:04Speaker 1: how how long you could have kept playing? You leave
- 32:07Speaker 1: that ambiguous. You know, um, there's no there's no answer,
- 32:11Speaker 1: there's no correct answer to that question. And so you'll
- 32:14Speaker 1: leave on top and sail off into the sunset and
- 32:18Speaker 1: everything's good. I just think the hard thing with him
- 32:21Speaker 1: is he's as competitive an athlete as I've ever seen,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and how do you make up for that? I think
- 32:27Speaker 1: that's the hardest thing for professional athletes. They get out
- 32:29Speaker 1: of the sport they're so used to competing, and like,
- 32:32Speaker 1: even for me, like I don't know about you, Paul,
- 32:34Speaker 1: but like when I got out of playing college hockey,
- 32:37Speaker 1: like it's a void and you just you don't realize
- 32:39Speaker 1: how lucky you are to be able to go out
- 32:41Speaker 1: and play a sport and compete against other guys at
- 32:43Speaker 1: a level, even at you know, just college sport level.
- 32:46Speaker 1: It's an adjustment for an Yeah, I mean, like I
- 32:51Speaker 1: I stopped playing tennis for a long time and I
- 32:53Speaker 1: just started playing again, and I'm telling you, I have
- 32:56Speaker 1: pure joy being out on the tennis court. You know,
- 33:00Speaker 1: I get that, the smell of the ball. Yeah, it's
- 33:01Speaker 1: just just getting out there and hitting and you know,
- 33:05Speaker 1: you know, competing against yourself and trying to Like, I
- 33:08Speaker 1: miss that, I really miss that. And I you know,
- 33:12Speaker 1: I'm so happy that I'm still have enough health to
- 33:15Speaker 1: do that still. And there's a game you can play
- 33:18Speaker 1: for a long time. Now, imagine football, the intensity or
- 33:21Speaker 1: wires within yourself to suit up every week and play football.
- 33:23Speaker 1: And then how do you even begin to mimic that? Yeah,
- 33:26Speaker 1: where do you get the competition football stands alone? I
- 33:31Speaker 1: mean I can still play softball, I can play men's
- 33:33Speaker 1: pickup hockey. You can go play soccer. I mean, you know,
- 33:35Speaker 1: you can play tennis like And I've told you guys
- 33:37Speaker 1: this story. That's why high school football Thanksgiving Day. And
- 33:43Speaker 1: I never thought it was going to affect me watching
- 33:45Speaker 1: my son the last game of the year the way
- 33:48Speaker 1: it did. And he wasn't even eligible to play. He
- 33:49Speaker 1: had his arm was broken at the time. Because ninety
- 33:54Speaker 1: five percent of the kids that play will never they
- 33:58Speaker 1: will never play football again. They're not going to put
- 34:01Speaker 1: on the pads. One of Will's really good friends, one
- 34:04Speaker 1: of the captains of the team is a kid. Why
- 34:06Speaker 1: happened to coach a lot in No, no, no, this
- 34:10Speaker 1: is this is this is the last. This is the
- 34:12Speaker 1: last game of the year Thanksgiving, you know, this is
- 34:15Speaker 1: the last game that he ever played. He's walking around
- 34:16Speaker 1: and and I'm standing with his father and he comes over.
- 34:19Speaker 1: He goes, I don't want to take my helmet off,
- 34:21Speaker 1: and he goes, why, he goes, I'm never going to
- 34:22Speaker 1: put it back on again. Yeah, And it's absolutely right.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I watched the same thing with my nephew who did
- 34:27Speaker 1: play four years in college, and he had he had
- 34:30Speaker 1: his helmet in his I told you that story. We
- 34:32Speaker 1: tailgated after his last game when they got knocked out
- 34:34Speaker 1: of the playoffs, and he was just carrying his helmet
- 34:36Speaker 1: around because I'm never gonna put this helmet on again.
- 34:39Speaker 1: And like basketball, I'm going to play games forever at
- 34:43Speaker 1: the why you know, individual sports, golf, t you know
- 34:47Speaker 1: you could play those forever. Well, you know, maybe he
- 34:49Speaker 1: can't play football. Maybe we misspoke, because yesterday I saw
- 34:52Speaker 1: some pictures on the internet of a certain duo in
- 34:55Speaker 1: some football jerseys out on the field that apparently your
- 34:57Speaker 1: your football career did continue one word with any dominant Yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 1: check goes out some great picks. Big Head and Paul
- 35:05Speaker 1: and Patriot's jersey playing was it because it was a
- 35:11Speaker 1: media game that we had. I want everybody got too old,
- 35:17Speaker 1: heyday Burton Steve Burton quarterback, Steve Burton could play though.
- 35:23Speaker 1: That was the difference. We had, like Zoe and Burton
- 35:25Speaker 1: one year playing quarterback for each team, and that was
- 35:27Speaker 1: a little different here a quarterback, you must have been
- 35:29Speaker 1: a third string Like what the hell you know? I
- 35:31Speaker 1: had to catch passes that year. Um, but I really
- 35:34Speaker 1: don't remember. I remember the first time we did it,
- 35:36Speaker 1: Um and Freder remember it's the first ever game at
- 35:39Speaker 1: CMGI field. Read Oh yeah, Um and I had we
- 35:42Speaker 1: all had practice jersey, so we had the blue in
- 35:44Speaker 1: the white practice jerseys. That's how we divide it up this.
- 35:47Speaker 1: I don't remember putting on like a replica game jersey.
- 35:50Speaker 1: That's I know, that's not an authentic game jersey. But
- 35:53Speaker 1: Bighead had to Richard Seymour and I had Tom Brad.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I said, how did Andy not have forty four or
- 36:00Speaker 1: and how did he not somehow get a neck roll
- 36:01Speaker 1: on right? Like I just feel like that's Andy specific
- 36:04Speaker 1: but I remember a media game that you guys got
- 36:07Speaker 1: trounced by, like Jacksonville Camp. I wasn't involved. We think
- 36:10Speaker 1: it was the Saints. Saints. Yeah, it's embarrassing. Yeah I was.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I could tell you the individuals and I didn't playing
- 36:16Speaker 1: the game, thankfully, but so called young all of a sudden,
- 36:19Speaker 1: you guys weren't part of this. I was embarrassed to
- 36:21Speaker 1: call these people my colleagues, losing to guys from the Saints.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I remember, if you knew who was playing, you'd understand
- 36:28Speaker 1: why we got killed. I remember that Drew Brees was
- 36:30Speaker 1: playing that day. No, no, no, no no, for the media,
- 36:32Speaker 1: for our media, that's what I'm talking. If you knew
- 36:34Speaker 1: who was on our team, you'd know why they got killed.
- 36:36Speaker 1: It was well. I remember a highlight we were all
- 36:38Speaker 1: in here, Frank and I remember thinking, Wow, Tommy currant
- 36:41Speaker 1: can actually scoot like he has some speech. Tom's a
- 36:43Speaker 1: decent athlete. He's a pretty good basketball player actually, and
- 36:46Speaker 1: he's a pretty good golfer too. Yeah, I know he
- 36:48Speaker 1: still plays basketball. I remember he caught a passing and
- 36:51Speaker 1: ran away. But same things though, So auto QB for
- 36:53Speaker 1: any of these media games. But we should bring that
- 36:55Speaker 1: back we got we got some athletes here and that,
- 36:58Speaker 1: but that was you know, Andy, that was funny that
- 37:00Speaker 1: he put that photo because Mike restarted it by just
- 37:02Speaker 1: putting a random photo of all of us sitting around
- 37:05Speaker 1: watching a Michael David Smith. Felger wasn't Michael David Smith.
- 37:08Speaker 1: It was Michael Smichael Smith. Sorry, different person. Yeah, Donalds,
- 37:13Speaker 1: Shane Donaldson, Brian Morey, Yeah, Michael Felger actually on the beat.
- 37:18Speaker 1: So that had to be like oh three ish h four, yeah,
- 37:22Speaker 1: long time ago. Yeah, evidently it was the last day
- 37:25Speaker 1: off I've ever had because I was not in the pitcher.
- 37:28Speaker 1: I told Paul there was there's somebody crammed in between,
- 37:30Speaker 1: and I zoomed in on the legs. Didn't look like
- 37:32Speaker 1: Paul's legs, not that I imagine he said that to me.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I zoomed in on the legs. It didn't look like
- 37:36Speaker 1: you a legs, right at least Fred looked at the
- 37:38Speaker 1: sneakers to see if you could recognize the sneaks, right,
- 37:40Speaker 1: which is what I did. Well, I don't know what
- 37:42Speaker 1: sneakers of my stems A leg guy anyway, Well that
- 37:51Speaker 1: was pre that was pre torn Achilles. So I actually
- 37:54Speaker 1: had I had a calf then, so I didn't recognize
- 37:57Speaker 1: that we've done I mean we've done a lot of
- 37:58Speaker 1: training camps now to get I know, I looks like
- 38:00Speaker 1: in shorts. I know what those Fortunately, I also know
- 38:03Speaker 1: what have these guys toes look like? What's the deal
- 38:05Speaker 1: with the flip flops a training Not just felger Many
- 38:12Speaker 1: literally puts a beach towel down. He's getting the sunscreen
- 38:18Speaker 1: and the lotion. So why the little radio Because they
- 38:21Speaker 1: don't take care of their men's toes. With men's toes,
- 38:25Speaker 1: they should remain hidden. Someone who will take offense to
- 38:27Speaker 1: that as someone who has perfectly had adequacity feet. If
- 38:33Speaker 1: you take care of your feet, I give you permission
- 38:35Speaker 1: to wear flip flops the training camp. I don't wear
- 38:37Speaker 1: flip flops the training camp because I don't think it's professional.
- 38:39Speaker 1: But not because not because my toes are not not
- 38:42Speaker 1: because my toes are unkempt. Yeah, but you're right, you
- 38:47Speaker 1: know weird men men really do let their COEs cover
- 38:51Speaker 1: them up. Yeah, I mean some people have nice ones
- 38:53Speaker 1: like very what about flip flops on a plane? No no, yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 1: no no, no, I thought tweet go so bar the
- 38:59Speaker 1: other day, a woman was about how the man next
- 39:01Speaker 1: door was cutting his toenails on the plane. And I
- 39:04Speaker 1: hear stories about that all the time, and I always
- 39:07Speaker 1: think that they're lives. They could be, you know, like
- 39:09Speaker 1: no one does that, right. But I took a red
- 39:14Speaker 1: Eye back from Vegas one time and I sat next
- 39:17Speaker 1: to this couple older a couple. This lady for at
- 39:21Speaker 1: least an hour, took her credit card and picked her
- 39:23Speaker 1: teeth like click click, And I was like, Oh, this
- 39:26Speaker 1: is freaking disgusting. That's been like you wear you're like
- 39:29Speaker 1: running that thing picking her teeth with her credit flip
- 39:32Speaker 1: flops on a plane. To me, it's not something I
- 39:35Speaker 1: would want to be doing. Like, let alone, I'm grossing
- 39:39Speaker 1: other people out. But like planes like to me are
- 39:41Speaker 1: like gross. Plus I wouldn't want to wear you don't
- 39:44Speaker 1: get off a plane instant shower. Yeah, I wouldn't want
- 39:47Speaker 1: to wear flip flops on a plane. Yeah. On a plane, yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: I mean unless you're like going on a planet Vegas.
- 39:54Speaker 1: You know, like it's like a twenty minute like hey,
- 39:56Speaker 1: I'm going someone warm to something. There's something to be
- 39:58Speaker 1: said in a long flight of taken your shoe off
- 40:00Speaker 1: because your feet do like swell up a little. Do
- 40:03Speaker 1: you do that? I take my shoes I have socks on.
- 40:06Speaker 1: I don't do that. I'll take my shoes off. You're
- 40:08Speaker 1: getting the don't You're getting the visual finger wag from Alice.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I'm just Alex, just I think you'd like my feet.
- 40:18Speaker 1: We'll see when runs around I do a rank, I
- 40:23Speaker 1: will not be participating. I've always had good feet. Really yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 1: I have had a girl in college with my feet.
- 40:31Speaker 1: That means you take care of yourself. I say, yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 1: we could check in my wife. She says, I have
- 40:35Speaker 1: crab toes because the crabs they're like if you care
- 40:40Speaker 1: about your feet and the cleanliness of your shoes, you
- 40:44Speaker 1: you take good care of yourself. About people that were
- 40:46Speaker 1: just born with say, long toes that are kind of
- 40:49Speaker 1: I can understand that. What do they clean? Oh yeah,
- 40:52Speaker 1: just clean? Yeah I clean, but TJ smell like haymarket
- 40:57Speaker 1: on like a like a Saturday morning. Yeah, that will
- 41:01Speaker 1: happen to me. When I got my freshman or Holy Cross,
- 41:03Speaker 1: my roommate had like he's one of those people who
- 41:05Speaker 1: never wore socks. So that just destroyed I mean, now, yeah,
- 41:07Speaker 1: you destroy sneakers like dude, I can't do it just
- 41:10Speaker 1: for that. You gotta put your shoes outside like you're
- 41:11Speaker 1: a stinging a ballhole. Oh yeah, it's just not right.
- 41:14Speaker 1: It's just not right. Imagine how many harrumps Evan would
- 41:18Speaker 1: have had by now shoes speaking of him. He's not
- 41:23Speaker 1: joining us, he's coming by later. He's got a little
- 41:26Speaker 1: catch twenty two coming later. Yeah. Oh that's right, Yeah,
- 41:29Speaker 1: all right. Eight five five PATS five hundred is the
- 41:31Speaker 1: ACE ticket hotline. Web radio at Patriots dot com is
- 41:34Speaker 1: the email address. Oh, by the way, I just I'm
- 41:37Speaker 1: just watching on TV NBC Sports. They're at Radio Row.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I do think Radio Row is more active than it's
- 41:42Speaker 1: been over the last few years. I believe, I mean,
- 41:44Speaker 1: I take this with a grain of salt, but I
- 41:47Speaker 1: believe that they have tweeted out Brian McCarthy say, it's
- 41:50Speaker 1: the most um Radio Row M credentials they've given out. Yeah,
- 41:55Speaker 1: and but like decent guests, like decent people are walking through,
- 41:59Speaker 1: you know, like they've they got Dean Blendino on right now.
- 42:02Speaker 1: That's a good get, especially um in the aftermath of
- 42:05Speaker 1: the Commissioner yesterday saying, uh quote, officiating has never been
- 42:09Speaker 1: better Wolf Yeah, and he's got good hair, by the way,
- 42:13Speaker 1: deep he does have good hair. Yeah, I'm jealous, much
- 42:16Speaker 1: like me and the picture with the Tom Brady Shart.
- 42:19Speaker 1: All Right, I didn't have good hair then either, but
- 42:21Speaker 1: it was it was at least existing. Let's get to
- 42:23Speaker 1: the phones. Uh, Patty's an agawam on the ace ticket outline.
- 42:26Speaker 1: What's up Patty? Hey? Everyone house? How are you doing everyone? Thursday? Okay? Right?
- 42:33Speaker 1: I wanted to throw a couple takes out there on
- 42:36Speaker 1: on wide receivers, and the first one I can't take
- 42:40Speaker 1: credit for it. I heard Derek Caven from ADS Fans
- 42:43Speaker 1: say that, and then I thought it was a really
- 42:45Speaker 1: good point on DeAndre Hopkins, not just you know, the
- 42:50Speaker 1: age and the fact that he's he's not like the
- 42:53Speaker 1: fastest guy. But last year he did get a suspension
- 42:57Speaker 1: and then like, let's say we were to trade for
- 43:00Speaker 1: him and if he got popped again, I mean that
- 43:02Speaker 1: would be it. He'd be done for the season, and
- 43:04Speaker 1: you know that would that would pretty much put up
- 43:08Speaker 1: some over the same bind that we're in right now.
- 43:10Speaker 1: And my second take, kid, I know, Paula, you were
- 43:15Speaker 1: talking about how you didn't want another one of these
- 43:19Speaker 1: like slot machine guys, and to me, I don't care.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I don't care who who they are. I mean, we've
- 43:25Speaker 1: seen over the past twenty plus years great task catchers
- 43:29Speaker 1: come in all shades and sizes. I mean, I don't
- 43:32Speaker 1: care if it's a running back, a third down back,
- 43:35Speaker 1: a big tight end like not like drunk mold. I
- 43:40Speaker 1: just want somebody that can get open and get some yak,
- 43:44Speaker 1: you know, I want. I want the guy that on
- 43:47Speaker 1: third down in the red zone, gold ghost situations. You
- 43:51Speaker 1: know the balls going there, at the entire stadium, the defense,
- 43:54Speaker 1: they know the balls going there and he can't stop it.
- 43:56Speaker 1: And that's the guy I want. I don't know if
- 43:59Speaker 1: he exists, if we if we can get them the
- 44:01Speaker 1: top season, but that's all I want. That's all I got. Guts,
- 44:05Speaker 1: all right, thanks, Patty, appreciate it. Somebody awesome. Yeah, that's
- 44:09Speaker 1: what I want. Ah. Jerry's in la Hey, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Hello,
- 44:21Speaker 1: turn you down, call back if you can. Speeds and
- 44:24Speaker 1: Freds know what's up. Speed some good off season plane
- 44:29Speaker 1: high sea and talk. Yeah, I've all been there. I mean,
- 44:33Speaker 1: I mean, I'm concerned though, Like if I if I
- 44:34Speaker 1: take my feet, my shoe up my shoes off. Maybe
- 44:37Speaker 1: I'm like the last person to know how bad my feet.
- 44:40Speaker 1: You know, sometimes you don't really know, you know, that's
- 44:41Speaker 1: usually the you're Yeah, you're usually a little desensitized to
- 44:45Speaker 1: your own stench. That's true, exactly the concern. Yeah, but
- 44:52Speaker 1: Paul is on a on the Andy Show and talking
- 44:55Speaker 1: about the he said the midst of the hometime discount idea,
- 45:00Speaker 1: And I was kind of caurious about your guys ideas
- 45:01Speaker 1: about that, because you know, you brought up Mahomes. Mahomes
- 45:06Speaker 1: is like the according over the cap, he's like eight
- 45:09Speaker 1: or something in cash spent this year. So I think
- 45:11Speaker 1: that that's the trend where it's just like the super
- 45:13Speaker 1: Bowl winning or or well he hasn't wanted this year,
- 45:17Speaker 1: but they tend to not be like taking the most money.
- 45:21Speaker 1: We're not serious about this, are we. What do you mean?
- 45:25Speaker 1: They're like seventy percent of the Super Bowl winning quarterbacks
- 45:27Speaker 1: and ninety one have been outside the top five in
- 45:29Speaker 1: the cash Okay, so we're just gonna move the number around.
- 45:31Speaker 1: So when never mind, I'm not going to get into this.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Go ahead. He's one of the highest paid players in
- 45:37Speaker 1: the entire league. Yeah, a quarterback position though I'm talking
- 45:41Speaker 1: about so who cares he got sixty three million when
- 45:44Speaker 1: he signed, Like, he's not, he's not like on a discount.
- 45:50Speaker 1: He's not on a discount. His salary now is going
- 45:54Speaker 1: to look better because he signed two years ago, right,
- 45:57Speaker 1: three years ago, now whatever. You could argue that that's
- 45:59Speaker 1: the strategy. They could argue that that's the strategy. No,
- 46:02Speaker 1: but you're going to argue with me that you can't
- 46:04Speaker 1: win because you do that. That's what That's what the
- 46:07Speaker 1: people that that Andy and I were talking about against
- 46:10Speaker 1: at the time, like Ben Volland was suggesting that you
- 46:14Speaker 1: don't need to pay your quarterback big money. I would
- 46:17Speaker 1: argue that Patrick Mahomes makes big money. If I don't
- 46:19Speaker 1: care what it is in the under statusphere of one
- 46:22Speaker 1: two that that all that matters is the date that
- 46:24Speaker 1: you sign the country. You don't need to pay a
- 46:26Speaker 1: quarterback big money. But if you have Patrick Mahomes, you
- 46:28Speaker 1: need to pay him big money. No, what I'm saying,
- 46:30Speaker 1: elite you're going to have to pay in order to win.
- 46:33Speaker 1: I think you need to have an elite quarterback, and
- 46:35Speaker 1: in order to have an elite quarterback here to pay
- 46:37Speaker 1: him elite money. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. I completely
- 46:41Speaker 1: agree that with the one qualification that these guys who
- 46:43Speaker 1: tend to win, they tend to take just a little
- 46:45Speaker 1: bit less. They're super highly paid, but they take a
- 46:47Speaker 1: little dip. They just tend that Okay, whatever, it makes
- 46:51Speaker 1: you sleep better, I don't. I mean, yeah, and I'm
- 46:56Speaker 1: telling you that the numbers aren't numbers that he's one
- 46:59Speaker 1: of the highest pay players in the entire league. Like
- 47:02Speaker 1: if he's if he's not number one, it's because he
- 47:04Speaker 1: signed his contract two years ago. Yeah, I mean, I
- 47:07Speaker 1: mean when Josh, like just John Watson now was number one, No, right,
- 47:11Speaker 1: two hundred and forty whatever million guaranteed Joe Burrow signs
- 47:14Speaker 1: his next contract, he's gonna be number one. He's gonna
- 47:17Speaker 1: be number one, or at least like in the top three.
- 47:20Speaker 1: He might not. These guys might not get Watson. And
- 47:22Speaker 1: if Watson might turn out to be an outline. And
- 47:24Speaker 1: if Mahomes got sixty three million cash two years ago,
- 47:28Speaker 1: and to Speed's point, that was probably a little low.
- 47:31Speaker 1: He probably could have gotten more to Burrow is probably
- 47:33Speaker 1: gonna get eighty in cash. You know it just it
- 47:36Speaker 1: doesn't go down My only point is, but yeah, I
- 47:39Speaker 1: think Speed's right. Some of these guys can take a
- 47:41Speaker 1: little less. And certainly Tom never bang the table to
- 47:45Speaker 1: get the absolute most. He did two times, but he
- 47:48Speaker 1: was always among the highest paid players in the league.
- 47:51Speaker 1: It's a it's a like a misnomer to say you
- 47:54Speaker 1: can't win if you pay your quarterback X. That's all
- 47:57Speaker 1: I'm saying. I I'm from the same page. Ultimately, I
- 48:02Speaker 1: mean Tom only did it twice like that, he was
- 48:05Speaker 1: top five, and the top five thing is a bit
- 48:07Speaker 1: of an arbitrary thing. Correct that. That's my only points
- 48:10Speaker 1: to be. I don't mean to yell at because you
- 48:11Speaker 1: know you might. You know you're my boy. I love it.
- 48:13Speaker 1: If Jalen Hurts wins this year, it's no, no no, no,
- 48:18Speaker 1: what they could They could absolutely win them. Yeah, they
- 48:21Speaker 1: could absolutely win, just like San Francisco could have won
- 48:23Speaker 1: if if they didn't get decimated. Yeah again, I have
- 48:28Speaker 1: I have the depth chart. I can tell you why
- 48:29Speaker 1: San Francisco could have won. But if you it's not
- 48:32Speaker 1: about just winning a Super Bowl, because any team and
- 48:35Speaker 1: any see, it's about being consistently an elite team in
- 48:39Speaker 1: the league. You know, consistently having double digit wins and
- 48:43Speaker 1: being in the in them because I think any I
- 48:45Speaker 1: think Fred's absolutely right. Any team can catch lightning in
- 48:49Speaker 1: a bottle and win it once, right, But in order
- 48:52Speaker 1: to be really good, you have to be really good.
- 48:55Speaker 1: And in order to be if you're going to be
- 48:57Speaker 1: really good, more than likely you're after year you're making
- 48:59Speaker 1: you're making a lot of money. Yeah, and you have
- 49:01Speaker 1: to have that great quarterback. You just have to. And
- 49:03Speaker 1: this is whether it's Roethlisberger, Brady Peyton, Manning over the
- 49:06Speaker 1: that that period of time, and now it's Mahomes, Josh Allen,
- 49:10Speaker 1: it's gonna be Joe Burrow. You have to have that
- 49:13Speaker 1: great quarter Like people would make the argument, and I'm
- 49:16Speaker 1: not saying, I'm not saying SPI is doing this, but
- 49:18Speaker 1: people would make the argument that Buffalo went from the
- 49:21Speaker 1: AFC Championship game and they took a step back this year.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Like I would say that that's utter nonsense. Yeah, but
- 49:29Speaker 1: that can help. But they would say because Josh Allen
- 49:31Speaker 1: makes too much money, Now, no, that's not why. No, Yeah,
- 49:35Speaker 1: And I would say, what a year for Patrick Mahomes
- 49:38Speaker 1: to say I'm worth every dime that you paid me. Yeah, Yeah,
- 49:41Speaker 1: And I think that this is one of those things,
- 49:45Speaker 1: and why I always come up as the old curmudgeon
- 49:49Speaker 1: with spreadsheets, like you can make a spreadsheet, do whatever
- 49:51Speaker 1: you want, Like you can tell me that Patrick Mahomes
- 49:54Speaker 1: is eight. So that proves your point. I would say
- 49:57Speaker 1: it backs up my point. He's one of the highest
- 50:00Speaker 1: paid players in the entire league. He's making a huge
- 50:04Speaker 1: percentage of the salary cap that some teams would refuse
- 50:07Speaker 1: to do. This one might be one of them, right,
- 50:11Speaker 1: What was the number that Robert Kraft used to be
- 50:14Speaker 1: quoted as saying, you don't want your quarterback making more
- 50:16Speaker 1: than sixteen percent, seventeen percent of the cap. Now some
- 50:20Speaker 1: of those numbers may be different now as the cap
- 50:22Speaker 1: continues to rise, but that was a long held line
- 50:27Speaker 1: of thought among some in the league. Yea, And certainly
- 50:32Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes is making more a bigger percentage of the
- 50:36Speaker 1: cap than what do you want to say, twenty eight
- 50:39Speaker 1: out of the thirty two teams. Yeah, I don't care
- 50:41Speaker 1: what his actual money is. In this league, if you
- 50:45Speaker 1: have a great quarterback or a great coach, you pay them.
- 50:48Speaker 1: You do whatever it takes to keep them, you know,
- 50:51Speaker 1: and you know what I mean by the money, Like,
- 50:53Speaker 1: you can do whatever you want with the cap, but
- 50:56Speaker 1: like the like I think he I think I read
- 50:58Speaker 1: something he got six three million just to sign. I
- 51:02Speaker 1: don't think a lot of teams want to do that.
- 51:04Speaker 1: But in order to be good, you got to do that.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Like if you have Joe Burrow, you're gonna say, I can't,
- 51:10Speaker 1: I can't. I can't give him sixty three million to sign.
- 51:13Speaker 1: If you're the Chargers better, you might never win. But
- 51:15Speaker 1: it's not gonna be because you pay Justin Herbert too
- 51:18Speaker 1: much money. It's gonna because Justin Herbert couldn't get you
- 51:20Speaker 1: over the top. Do you know what I mean? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 51:23Speaker 1: Like do you think Buffalo fell short because they weren't
- 51:25Speaker 1: talented enough? No? So, like what does the cap have
- 51:29Speaker 1: to do with anything? What is the money that Josh
- 51:31Speaker 1: Allen has to do with anything? Yeah? So I'm distracted
- 51:33Speaker 1: here as Malcolm Butler's on Beetle and Zoe and the
- 51:36Speaker 1: Chiron is what happened in Super Bowl fifty two, but
- 51:39Speaker 1: we can't hear it. He looks like he's hawking some
- 51:41Speaker 1: some merch now too, So he's out there making the rounds. Yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 1: And like I don't mean to like, I didn't mean
- 51:47Speaker 1: to like snap back at speed, because that's more of
- 51:50Speaker 1: a snapback at this tired old like it's two thousand
- 51:55Speaker 1: and three and you have to have like your money
- 51:57Speaker 1: spread across like all fifty three guys, Like, that's not
- 52:00Speaker 1: the way it's done anymore. You don't have to do
- 52:02Speaker 1: it that way anymore. The cap is too big. It's
- 52:04Speaker 1: gonna be two hundred and twenty five million next year.
- 52:07Speaker 1: I see Phil. Oh sorry, um, yes, I just said Phil.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Perry talked to Malcolm Butler and he said he still
- 52:13Speaker 1: wants to play in twenty twenty three. He's working on
- 52:14Speaker 1: a documentary in a book. Make it a few tidbits
- 52:17Speaker 1: on Super Bowl fifty one. Oh, okay, a big question.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Let's see David is in Iowa. Hey, David, Hey, hey,
- 52:27Speaker 1: long time listener and never called in before, so first
- 52:32Speaker 1: time called. Thank you nice. Yeah, So I had a
- 52:37Speaker 1: few things I've been listening since like two thousand and four,
- 52:40Speaker 1: where earlier in the season, you guys were trying to
- 52:42Speaker 1: like describe how the defense works, or offense and defense,
- 52:48Speaker 1: where like defense plays like a rock band, so if
- 52:55Speaker 1: someone messes up, it doesn't threw everything up necessarily. Where
- 52:58Speaker 1: offense plays like a symphony where when one guy's off
- 53:03Speaker 1: you hear it. Okay, Yeah, I don't think i'd agree
- 53:08Speaker 1: with that. I mean, I think defense, did you guys
- 53:10Speaker 1: do this on a show that I wasn't a part
- 53:11Speaker 1: of it? I don't know. No, No, you were all
- 53:14Speaker 1: part of it. It's a good analogy. I like it.
- 53:16Speaker 1: I don't. I don't agree with that. I just I mean,
- 53:18Speaker 1: I think defense with if you get one guy who
- 53:20Speaker 1: doesn't maintain the correct leverage, like you know, it's it's
- 53:24Speaker 1: I think it's all kind of connected on on both
- 53:26Speaker 1: sides of the ball. In team I kind of agree
- 53:28Speaker 1: with Mike. I don't know, like how many times the
- 53:29Speaker 1: special teams do you look and you're like, oh, this
- 53:32Speaker 1: guy who was L two came in too quick and
- 53:34Speaker 1: the crease open. But I think I think the difference
- 53:36Speaker 1: with defense and offense is sometimes you can make up
- 53:39Speaker 1: for a mistake on defense with hustle, you know, But
- 53:43Speaker 1: don't you think that that's true on all all aspects.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Like let's say, I think on offense it's it's a
- 53:47Speaker 1: little bit more you have to be on the same
- 53:50Speaker 1: page or you can hustle all you want. But if
- 53:52Speaker 1: you're running the wrong way. But I think you can
- 53:54Speaker 1: make an argument that, like on offense, everybody does their
- 53:58Speaker 1: their job, but the left tackle just with son is
- 54:00Speaker 1: block and the quarterback gets sacked. Right, But isn't it
- 54:03Speaker 1: just as easy to say everybody does their job, the
- 54:05Speaker 1: left tackle whift suns block, and the quarterback makes a
- 54:07Speaker 1: miss and throws a touchdown. Yeah, yeah, I mean I think,
- 54:10Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen both of those things happen. How
- 54:13Speaker 1: many times you can make up for it? You might,
- 54:15Speaker 1: It's true on both sides. I'm with my guys. I mean,
- 54:17Speaker 1: you might hate a little bit more leadway on the
- 54:19Speaker 1: defensive side of them, you know, like because the quarterback
- 54:22Speaker 1: just doesn't see that this guy blew his coverage or
- 54:24Speaker 1: you know. But you know, to Paul's point, I think
- 54:27Speaker 1: if you have a playmaker sometimes they offset those even
- 54:30Speaker 1: those mistakes. And that's when me and might get mad
- 54:32Speaker 1: when the quarterbacks running around just to stay in the pocket,
- 54:35Speaker 1: like like that's what Mahomes does. So well, that's why
- 54:36Speaker 1: I think they're going to be in trouble on Sundays. So, David,
- 54:39Speaker 1: did you have a question off of that or did
- 54:41Speaker 1: you just want to remind us No, I was just
- 54:43Speaker 1: wanting to throw that out there, and then I'm a
- 54:45Speaker 1: I was gonna throw out there that I'm Jones Patriots fans.
- 54:53Speaker 1: I think he's not the guy, not going to be
- 54:56Speaker 1: the guy. He never was the guy, and not that
- 55:00Speaker 1: I was sold on that. Zappy showed a lot more
- 55:05Speaker 1: tempo and just natural instinct. Well that's why I was like,
- 55:10Speaker 1: I would have just kept writing him until you know,
- 55:12Speaker 1: it really fell apart. Yeah, what do you think happens
- 55:15Speaker 1: with Mac this year? With Bill O'Brien. I don't think
- 55:19Speaker 1: he gets any better. I think as a whole it'll
- 55:22Speaker 1: look nicer. Like I think Mac Jones is like nice
- 55:26Speaker 1: trash where you know Bailey Zappy is like probably keep him.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Sorry about that, David and Iowa call back. There's a
- 55:42Speaker 1: perfect example of a call I really didn't agree much with,
- 55:44Speaker 1: but I think it was an excellent call. Call today,
- 55:47Speaker 1: I'm a call back to the show. All Right, we're
- 55:49Speaker 1: gonna take a break. We'll be right back after this. Verizon,

- 1:05:40Speaker 1: great moments in history they had. She had one where
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: she was talking smack about true blitze. Oh oh now
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: it's on, now it's now, now it's definitely a thing. No,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: But all I saw, I mean I saw like Megan
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: had liked Convert, just screaming but they had just won.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Like what is she supposed to the library face face,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I just wanted to I'm sorry, what was that work?
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Not the he went over to He's said in two
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: different ways, neither one of them was correct. Shot fucking
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: all right, that's another great moment from all right, Welcome
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: back to Patriots on Filter do Sallex, Paul, myself, Matt
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: and the booth Freddie. I find myself really enjoying the
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: rejoined Yeah. When Eric chimes in yeah, and Mike just
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: had the perfect facial expression for him. Mike went to
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: right right, fred Fred looks, he goes, how do you
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: pronounce her? And and probably what he said isn't right either,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: that's the whole thing. Well, in Germany, that's how they
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: say it, so I don't, well what Germany has a
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: different dials too, just like you know we we changed
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: our internet provider. Yeah, sniff the cork man. I do
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: have someone who wrote in about that, about the cork
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: sniff Yeah, but I thought, oh yeah, Um Chad wrote in, Uh,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: he says why the cork is presented to you when
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: you order? Why you had a big debate that you
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: don't really sniff it? And he was telling Eric anyway,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Um Chad writes, and I knew this for years, but
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: not to the level of depth. This article goes, if
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: the cork is stained, the wine is not good. Has
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: nothing to do with smell. Eric is wrong. I repeat,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Eric is wrong. So so you look at the you
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: look at the cork, and if it's stained, then it's
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: a possibility that the wine has gone bad. You don't
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: you don't need to smell it. I feel like we've
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: gotten a few different authoritative emails that come in and
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: are like, say, but they've gone yeah, and was Eric
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: was he team sniff, team team everything that everybody else,
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: because when he gets it, of course he you know,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: he doesn't know what. See, I thought you were supposed
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: to just get the glass. You put the wine in
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: the glass and swifted around you watch the way. Yeah yeah,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: but that body that has to do also with if
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: the glass is clean or not, because dirty glasses, if
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: it's not clean properly, they'll get a lot more. I
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: want her on the show. But also you want to
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: look at the court, like if there's like a piece missing,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Yeah too, exactly, Yeah, that's what that knows. He's got
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: to get the final answer, which totally seems like BS
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: to me. Like when I first learned about that, when
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I was in California about like this guy Larry Stucky,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: who was a writer, was telling me his brother is
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: a sambi and I'm like, and I had no idea
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: what they were and he explained it to me, and
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: I'm like, that can't be real, Like you cannot that
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: you can't tell me that. And this is a somebody
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: who has no knowledge of wine. Like it's sense that
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Eric wanted to be right, it's got to be the
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: most pretentious snobby professions. This right right, And there's a
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: picture of Eric right now. Ext I'm sorry, like maybe
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: my taste buds are underdeveloped, but like wine, it's it's
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: like you're in a very narrow like how different it
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: tastes to me? Like I can like kind of like
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: some of them are a little bit more better than that,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: but otherwise I'm like, I can't detective notes of anything.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Like there's a great long form piece. I don't know
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: who to credit too, but it was definitely the Athletic
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: or ESPN. But they talked about how like NBA players
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: are running out of stuff to flaunt their wealth with,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: so they just all become these wine collectors. So like
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Carmelo Anthony is like training to be a Simolia and
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: like Kevin Love and Lebron James drink like there's no question,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: thousands of dollars of wine a month, right, yeah? And
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: then how many books you think Lebron's read the first page? Zero? No,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: just the first page. That's I'm saying, just just in
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: the first page when let me open a book. Yeah,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: probably read three books tonight. I have a little little
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: vino that like my blue hair, a little white, I think.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: I mean, I I let Beth pick whatever you want.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: She's like, well, all right, I wasn't going to say,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: you know, can you pick one out for me? Like?
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Could we just think if you do drink a lot
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: of wine you start to develop I'm sure, yeah, I mean,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I'm sure you don't know. I haven't drinking. I mean
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: not you drink a lot of wine? No, no, no, no,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: use my stomach up. I don't drink a lot. But
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: if I'm going to drink, it's probably gonna be like
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: a glass of cabernet. It has to be like a
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: millennial like I'm home from work, I'm exhausted. If you
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: like cab you do it. I do sometimes, but I
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: grew up. There's my grandparents barefoot like trying So if
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: you like different, you like Cabernet Drew Bledsoe makes a
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: good one double double really good. A matter of fact,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: that could probably give you a bottle if you want,
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: not the family one, the double back. There's two different
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: double back yeah, but no, but double back is like
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: it's a cab. Yeah, but he also has a family
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: cab that he does which is less expensive and it's
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: still good. But the double back one is the best.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: That's like I thought I was doing the humble brak.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Fred has given you the differentiations between the two both.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: What about two buck Chuck. Remember that was a huge thing,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: like I don't know fifteen years ago, and two Trader
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Jones Charles Shaw. They have like two dollars wine and
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Trader Joe's that everyone claims is pretty good farm coming
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: to bux Well. I saw a guy walking around Trader
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Joe's a couple weeks ago. Still I was like, Oh,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: I guess two buck Chuck is still a thing. Wow, um,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: let's see. Isaac from Winnipeg writes in He says wanted
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: to chime in on the last episode. Thank God for Evan.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I feel just as heartbroken as him watching Brady as
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: a buck was one of the worst sites ever. I
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: don't care if the Patriots or him were to blame.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: As a fan, it was terrible about the one day contract.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: I am absolutely against it. If he wanted to retire
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: as a Patriot, he could have stayed here. May sound ungrateful,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: but we as fans stood up for him every time.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: I hated the divorce so much. I even gave my
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: mother in law my number twelve Jersey upgraded for number
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: eleven Edelman true loyalty. Keep up the good work, guys.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Love hearing you on my long winter drives. What's the
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: name on that email? Winnipeg? Yeah, Isaac from Winnipeg. Yeah.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: It just it must have been really hard for Isaac
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: to have to defend Tom Brady all those years and
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: tough job. While the de flake Gate he's probably talking, Yeah,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: it's just tough. Rusty and Arland says six titles in
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: twenty years you had to talk to and said no,
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: it had The flake Gate was no big uh. I
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: really like Evans additions the show so far, but I
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: gotta disagree with him here. Just want to remind everyone
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: that none of us played a down or have really
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: done anything that suggests Brady owes us some of his success.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: A lot of fans were ready to move on from
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: him in twenty twenty as well, after the traumatizing twelve
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: and fourth season. Dues still don't see a lot of
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: fans upset about letting him go, even though the post
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Brady era has not gone well, especially since, in my opinion,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: the team pushed him away more than he left and
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: fans is still trying to act like it was fifty fifty.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Thanks for all that you do. I look forward to
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: the shows more than watching the game. Sometime there you go, well, yeah,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: so yeah, I mean, people are split, and I get
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the reaction that like the fan reaction, and this is
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: something I disagree with, like that, you know, the first
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: caller Evan on Tuesday. But I understand it. I understand
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: why someone would say, you know, why is he talking
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: like this? Now? You know? Why did he leave? You know?
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: But I don't look at it that way, but I
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: understand why others do, even though Fred doesn't agree with
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: it either. But yeah, you know, if it was me
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: that said that, he owes me more than that, I
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: think he and I would have had a forty five
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: minute knocked down drag out fight, but nobody. Evidently it's
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: a little different when it's new pets involved. That was
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: a um let's see, Austin writes in top menu item
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: for the Super Bowl. Yeah, it's my Guinness version, uh
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: Guinness venison and beef irish stew with with fresh baked
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: soda bread on top of a bed of mashed potatoes.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: I made this last year and it was such a
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: success I've been told to have to make it again.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Another tradition for me is a party sized bag of
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: M and m's that I normally do not share. Um,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: have you ever had soda bread? Yeah, it's freaking off.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: It's drying. Yeah, it's terrible. I can put a lot
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: of butter on it. Yeah, I don't know. I don't guess.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: If it's with like a beef stew type situation. I've
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: never had that. It does to soak it up. I mean,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: it's like it has no taste. It's terrible. But venison
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I have had. I have had venison. It's good. What
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: is it like? Kind of like beef a little better?
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Yeah that that it's a little gamy, but it's good.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: I hate that word. Sorry, it just turns me on.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: If you tell me something is gamy. I'm not gonna eat.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I'm not going to try it. Like I haven't had.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: I haven't had a lot of it or anything like that,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: but probably haven't had a twenty years. I mean, I
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: have a lot of live deer around my house, so
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe I'll I'll get David Andrews to
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: come over and nice. Um Phineas writes in what About
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: and he's in Rhode Island. I just listened to Tuesday Show,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: which featured conversation about Chris sims propensity to button the
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: top button of his college shirt thank you Yes. The
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: look is known as the air tie, though its popularity
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: has waned in recent years, since there are still some
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: air tie loyalists, such as Sims. To me, this is
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: a lose lose proposition, as it requires a formality and
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: constriction of the workday caller without affording the opportunity to
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: show off a nice double windsor to each his own.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: That's my favorite all time email, right there, right, I
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: do like the email very very much. Wrong it was
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: it was kind of a late eighties look too that
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I'm ashamed to say. I come to you even with
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: that was more of a really nineties looks um, you know,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: maybe with a little double champion Turtle long. You know
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: that's back. Yeah, I know it's Neil, right, Neil from
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: the Brunswick. Can we all just recognize the comedic genius
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: that is Fred. Last week, when some bozo here here,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: when some bozo called in the day after Brady retired
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: to talk about Jordan Humphrey's playing time, he dropped the line,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: they won't put his number in the stadium, just put Lil.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: I immediately burst out laughing in the middle of the
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: grocery store, picturing a brightly lit little hanging in the lighthouse.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: That was That was a good solid Fred as well.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: We could have been speaking of Lil. Let's go to
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Will and phil him. What's up? William? What's going on? Fred?
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: Are you doing? All right? I have a question question
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: for Alex and they all want to st Paul, so um, Alice,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: do you watch college football? I mean far as? Do
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: you know anything about far as? The draft and whatnot?
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I don't really, I really don't get into college football
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: until like the final four teams, and I'll watch the playoffs. Okay,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: all right, okum, sorry William. My question it's okay, of
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: course I heard definitely uh fault, I mean Faul, yeah, Paul.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: My question is, um, so what do you what do
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: you think of the Patriots? I think this will be
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: a I think it would be a dumb move though,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: but then a gown. Know, so we don't have nobody
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: on the offense. That's a you know that you got
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: the game plan for correct? Yeah. I think that's largely
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: true right now? Yeah, yeah, okay, So I hope this
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: don't happen, but I could see it might happen. What
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: if they'll take a running back in the first round again?
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Oh god, be Jean Robinson protected? Well that I don't
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: think it changes. I mean, I still don't have anybody
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: in the game before, right right. He's a good player.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I know who be Jean Robinson, He's
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: an excellent player. Is he going to go that high?
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: Is that? I mean? I haven't looked at I don't
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: I've seen some teams flirting. Listen that mock drafts is
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: starting to become more and more popular in recent days. Um,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: I haven't really been keeping track of all the specific
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: mock drafts this year yet because it's so early. I've
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: seen him pop in like Bill's low first round. I said,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: I like the player a lot. I just think there
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: are so many more needs, and I Fred knows, he
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: makes fun of me all the time. Running backs, I
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: just you're already talking. I saw something that Greg Bdard wrote,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: not that he's the be all adult, but well, you know,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: like Damian Harris is probably gonna go somewhere. Now you're
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: already talking about you have eleven draft picks. You're using
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: one of your middle round draft picks on a running
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: back because Pierre strong and you're strong, and Kevin Harris
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: will be there to replace in the immediate uh, you know,
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Damien Harris. But then Stevenson's gonna go in two years.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: That's why I'm not really big on running backs. Like,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: even when they work, you know, you're not really gonna
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: give him unless it's a guy like McCaffrey Henry. Oh yeah,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Derrick Henry's a unicorn. But I mean like a pat
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: like an Alvin Kamara, right, like a guy who can
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: run and be a weapon in the pass again, McCaffrey Barkley.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: But even then, I think they were wildly overdrafted. Kimara
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: was taken in the second round they get hurt, right,
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: he was a second round pick. I think, yeah, you
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: know McCaffrey and Barkley, there's a top ten picks. To me,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: that's a waste. That's is as talented as those guys are.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: I just think you can get them later in the
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: draft and then no, no, I think you need to
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: get them like San Francisco got him where it's like
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: you're not expending you know, like the pick. He just
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: he comes in. He's the final piece. And I mean,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: although all three of those guys you talked about have
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: had major injuries in him his major time in their career. Well,
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I just I said, I was just asking the question.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: I already know what our biggest needs, which is offers
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: in my corner and wide receiver. I would agree with
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: you on that. I think everybody's on the same page
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: from the number one, even though I'm I'm a wide
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: RESPI like wide receiver though, but offensive line is that
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: because you need man to be protected because I just
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: can't see him getting hurt again Jesus, Okay, yeah right, yeah, Well,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: and I think that the tackle was probably at the
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: top of the needsless But like if you want to
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: sell me on like Evans guy Jordan Addison, who's terrific,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Like and you can get him at fourteen, which you
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: should probably be available at fort Yeah, Like, if you
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: think he's going to be a special player, I could
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: be sold on that at fourteen. Sam and Toronto writes
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: in I swear Patriots fans are the best. Guy calls
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: in Saint Patrick Mahomes half a billion dollar contract? Is
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: that this account? What are we talking about? Yeah, that's
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: I'm going to defend spe a little bit. That's not
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: I think his point was just that he's not in
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: the top five, So that stat like, I'm not interested
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: in the moving right, I'm not interested in the stat
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: per se. I'm I'm interested more in the mentality of
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: a lot of people still believe in Santa Claus that
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: you can't pay your quarterback big money and still win.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: And I would say that if he's eighth, as Speed claims,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: I don't, you know, I don't have the numbers in
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: front of me. If he's eighth, that's paying him big money,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Like you don't the guy who's making the eighth most
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: money in twenty twenty two is not on a hometown
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: discount Kristen writes in from Houston, the story of gross
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: people on airplanes reminded me of something that happened just
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: this past weekend. I was at a sports bar to
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: watch college basketball. Someone decided to change their babies diaper
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: and an empty He changed the diaper on the seating,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: but definitely put the dirty diaper on the tabletop while
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: he put the clean one on the kid. I don't
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: think I've ever been that horrified in my life. Of man,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: I do think it's gross, but I also have to say,
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: like people with kids in those sound of situations, like
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: just I give him a little bit of leeway way changing. Absolutely.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: This is why I was going to defend the guy
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: on the email, not that I've done it many times.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Mike is right, like, it's like, God, you couldn't just
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: wait panic like it is panic time, but they have
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: almost every restaurant has a change, you know, those kinds
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: of rest family In the rest you can get out
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: plastic thing that comes down, you get all that taking
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: care of in a bathroom. You don't have to do
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: that in front of everyth I'm on home depot for
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: crying out loud. Also, Kristen says She's agrees with me
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: on Tom Brady's answer to Jim Gray's unretirement question. It
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: wasn't nearly a strong as I thought it would be. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: I have to go check that out. I'm not I'm
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: not familiar with that. I am no, and I'm not
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: denying you. I said I missed. I missed the Florio thing. Yeah,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: I missed this thing that you talked about Segar Mass too,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: that Florio was on. I missed a lot of I
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: did catch a little of Mike Lombardi on Felgar and
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Mass yesterday. Ye, Felger did a good job. Didn't let
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: him off the hook, like he you know, started going
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: in and you know, he was talking about like it's
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: not it's about you know, Belichick at this and then
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: he goes, you know what about Belichick without Brady. I
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: mean it's pretty big, you know, before and after Brady,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: you know, and then you know, Lombardi did his mental
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: gymnastics that he always does, and he goes, yeah, but like,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: I mean, that's still like a big sample size before
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: and after break. Like you wouldn't let him. I wouldn't
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: let him go on it. It It was pretty pretty good.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: James Pettigrew the most interesting Patriots fan of the world,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Rights and long may the most random podcast continue. I
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: personally have very nice kemp feet, but I had a
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: friend in the army who didn't wear socks with his
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: boots in the jungle. We'd be out for weeks and
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: every morning I'd see him put his wet bare feet
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: into his boots in march all day. More traumatic than
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: anything I saw in war. That's that seems like a
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: matt Can you speak to this? This seems like an
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: armed services No. No, take care of your feet is
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: always like priority one. Am I really I'm gonna call
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: him a liar? Well, he's not not us at us? Yeah,
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: looser regularly on a marine, we keep our feet mire
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: and change of socks. That's what they tell you about us.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: I'm just saying they might have different, different regulations. Yeah,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: for the most interesting Patriots fan alive. Yeah, James Pettigrew, Paul,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: I agree with all you say. I hear your silence.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: I agree. I hear your silence with Evan on occasion,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: and I always silently agree. I know what he's saying.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: I do too. We're gonna have to catch Evan when
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: he gets and I will just say that you're not wrong.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: We always say on this show that no matter what
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: the subject is, someone listening that's an expert. Tom is
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: calling it from NAPA wine guy. There we go, Tom.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: What do you hear from NAPA? You gotta know talk
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: to us about wine? Yeah? Thank you guys. Guys doing good? Yeah,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: I don't know. I figured how to call it. Are
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: you a sama? Yeah, he's gonna yell at me? No?
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Uh so the only reason you smell a cork is
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: to tell us the wine is bad, But the cork isn't.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: There's you could just smell the glass of wine too,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: So it's a wasted extra step. Okay, that sounds like
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: character or wasted extra step you're doing? Oh you don't
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: smell the cork? I always do? Yeah, make sure, but yeah, no,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: I do work in the wine industry. Do you guys
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: have any other questions? Are you familiar with Bledsoe's vineyard?
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: I am. I actually have visited a couple of times,
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: met him. Yeah, so what would you How would you
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: rate his uh double back cab? You know, I'm more
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: of a fan of NAPA Big Bold Mountain cap, but
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: it's not bad for a Washington at all. Okay, what
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: about Stags leap Artemis Leave Wine Cellars or vineyard. I
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: don't know. I just I just had this the Stags
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: leap Artemis, which twenty fourteen cab was excellent. That is
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: very very good. Uh, why don't you Why don't you
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: guys come out here? My family owned a wine tour company,
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: so we can take you guys out on a win.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: All right, we'll be there next week. Maybe someday we'll
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: take you up on that. I've been out there, Sonoma.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: Thanks Tom. I'm just thinking about some of this wine
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: that you got. Any of you guys check out that
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: Joe Montana piece that right time you've talked. Everybody's been
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: well not everybody. The mad oversold. My reaction to it
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: made it. It was the greatest thing ever written. It was.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: It was the thing ever written. Yeah, I did this
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: is this is the ironic part of this is I
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: am a big fan of him as a writer, and
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: I thought he was a little all over the place
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: in this, but there was a ton of really interesting
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: tidbit that he had. Um but yeah, Montana, it was
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: it was an interesting what was it like? How difficult
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: it has been for him to sort of come to
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: grips with the fact that he's not the goat anymore.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Oh really really yeah wow, And I had no idea.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure that Joe Montana fans knew this.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: But how um, how poorly he was treated both in
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: high school and in college by his coaches, really especially
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: high school, and the guy in the high school guy
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: never let it go. He would like every year that
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: they would go to the Super Bowl and they would
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: ask him about him, and they would say how selfish.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: The guy would say how selfish he was. It was like,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: do you remember when Michael Jordan got inducted into Hall
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: of Fame. I'll address this to Alex because I know Mike,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: I don't know, probably just Michael Jordan, Michael B. Jordan. Um,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: do you remember when he made he went out of
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: his way, Alex to take a rocket shot at the
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: JV coach or you know, the high school coach that
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: put him on JV exactly, and he's still like he
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: invited him, but he still had to take a shot
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: at him. That's what the coach would do to Montana, Like,
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: even as he's going to all these super Bowls and
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: winning them, and clearly emerging as the greatest quarterback ever.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: His high school coach is still telling you he was
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: right for not playing him, Like it was really kind
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: of a testament job to keep him for me. It's
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: a testament to Montana, especially in high school, because like,
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: especially at that age, all it takes is one bad
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: coach that you don't like to make you totally hate
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: a sport and never want to play again. Yeah, and
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: he blanked like because I guess Joe's father was pretty close.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: He was an only child, Joe, and the father was
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: pretty involved, and he was really resentful to the father,
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: the coach, the high school coach that he was up.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: But it's an interesting It is long, so you know,
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: you definitely block off an amount of time, but it
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: was it was an interesting piece, and Brady's presence in
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: it is really interesting as well. Um, Mitch from alban
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: he has a who in my game? You want to
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: play been Sarah? He can join in if he wants.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Who am? These are all random Patriot players whose jersey
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: I've owned, says Mitch from Albany one number one. I
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: hold an NFL record that will never be broken. And
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: he gets anybody wanted I'm not going to burn a
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: guest this one. Right, you burn your guests here, you're out.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I spent fourteen seasons with the Patriots. No, I was
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: a kicker, Adam, No, you're out, sorry, Stephen Gaskowski. The
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: record is consecutive extra points made with five twenty three
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: number two yards? Right, but why will that never be broken?
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: It just won't, Paul, don't worry. That's probably because it
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: got pushed back. Yeah, right, maybe that's true. I just
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: looked at it said you don't do anymore? No, but
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: they reset it. Yeah. Number two. I've been on four teams,
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: including two seasons with the Patriots. Four teams, two seasons
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: with the Patriots. I was on the team in two
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: thousand and eleven, in two thousand and twelve. Mm, good one.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: Then I hold the Division two college football record for
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: most rushing yards in a career with seven thousand. Danny
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: Woodhead that state was that Wait, sorry, Chadron or Chadron.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: Number three? My career was a was a giant. What
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: if I am the only player in NFL history with
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: consecutive games of over two hundred receiving yards Terry Glenn
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: no I led the league in receiving yards and was
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: an All Pro in two thousand and thirteen. Oh, I
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: know it now, I think, but I can't guess my
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: career was a giant What if if you go back,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: this completely makes sense now. No, nope, Josh Gordon, Yeah,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: full disclosure. I was wrong even with my second How
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: did you spake a Brandon Lloyd? Can I do a
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: quick aside? Just how did you guys feel? Like? Gosh Gordon,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: totally different guy, that thirteen guy who was here and
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: burned everybody and then he got here in like nineteen
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: and it was like, who can't run anymore? Yeah? Number four?
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: I eclipsed one thousand yards rushing yards twice in my career,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: only once with the Patriots. Corey Dillon Nope, Um, he
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: did thousand yards more than twice in his career. Okay,
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: I went undrafted. He was undrafted. Ben Jarvis green ellis
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: correct twice twice in his career, only once with the Patriots.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: But who else did he play for? I think the
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: next year after he left Gnatty. Yeah, I think he
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: had a thousand yards the year after he left. I
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: would have lost a lot of money on that bed. Yeah.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: Isaiah Pachiko reminds me of him, like a tent, like
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: a more talented version of him, but just the wrecking
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: ball like accelerates into contact. I loved me some, Ben Jarvis. Yea,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: last one, last one. I spent five seasons with the
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Patriots and won two Super Bowls. Really narrows it down. Yeah,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: I had twelve touchdowns over those five years. Twelve, I
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: now spend my time being on a reality to Martella Spenett, No,
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: I now spend my time being on a reality TV show.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: Danny Amdola. Correct, I just caught him on that raility
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: show like two weeks. It's like a military training one
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: where they put him through. Yeah, he looks old, though
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: I don't know he looks all of a sudden, Danny
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Amndola looks like he's aged a lot. That's too intense
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: for me, with partying after he had to like repel
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: down a thing. It's like that kind of stuff. So, Evan,
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: welcome to the show. Thank you. Anything on your mind? No, No,
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: some interesting conversations that I was listening to upstairs. You
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: got those questions, what were the Evan had? There were
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: a couple of email comments for Forevermore. There was one
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: on that thanked Evan said, thank god for Evan on
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: your Brady take ye oh yeah, well and then the
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: next guy ripped you. Next guy said, Brady to a thing.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: So this this bothers me. So we can we can,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: we can start on this Bray. Tom Brady and I
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: are both I'm I'm a young girl man, but we're
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: both grown men. Okay, obviously he doesn't owe me anything.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: Like I hate that phrasing because it's just bugs me.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: It's like, oh, some other person, like nobody owes me anything,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: whether it's Tom Brady or it's somebody that I that
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: I actually know, like it, no one owes me anything
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: in this world. That's not the point. Okay, So thank you.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: That's all I got. I just want to bend those bridges,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: all right, Yeah, I just that's it. Nobody owes me anything.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Ben five, Ben and Shutters is willing to buy us
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: lunch if we can have a pu piece and or
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: show where Paul douson Evan notice how he leaves me
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: out talk us through their individual tenets of building a roster.
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: We've heard tidbits over the years, but would love to
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: hear how they would do it. Every year if they
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: were GM, such as draft a quarterback every year until
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: you get the guy, don't waste picks on O line,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: pay for a stud receiver, et cetera, et cetera, not
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: necessarily using this Patriots roster is a basis just what
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: their mantras would be if they were a GM looking
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: at free agency and building through the draft. I like that.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: I mean, there's a couple that come to mind for me,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: just of I think drafting and developing quarterbacks is always
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: good business, even if you have a guy. I mean
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: maybe maybe if you're the Chiefs or you know you
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: have the guy, But you know, I wouldn't be opposed
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: to the Patriots taken another guy this year. I just
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: think until you know you have that guy, it's too
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: too important to let it slide. And like you know,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: last year when they took Zappie, I was like great.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: I don't think it really necessarily says anything about Mac,
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: but I just think that that's that's one I believe
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: good business. I don't disagree. I think, regardless of who
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: the quarterback is, though, building up the infrastructure around the
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: quarterback every single year, like for instance, the Patriots a
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: wide receiver they got some NFL talent on the roster already.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: They'd used the second round PI on a wide receiver
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: last year with Tae Kwon. I still want them to
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: take another wide receiver in the top one hundred. I
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: still want them to build on the offensive line. I
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: think that you look at all these quarterbacks and maybe
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: outside of Patrick Mahomes, I don't know if there's any
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: quarterback in the league that gets here in the Super
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: Bowl week, gets to the Super Bowl, gets to their
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: you know, the AFC Championship game consistently without helping the
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: foundation around them. And I think we learned that for
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: twenty years with Brady that yeah he's great, but he
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: still needs guys to throw it too. He still needs
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: a defense, he still needs guys to block for him.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: And that would be my big thing is don't just
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: put it all on the quarterback. He got to be
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: able to build the roster up around him. Yeah. And
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: you guys know, if if I was building, I could
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: give you all my tenants for building a Russia. But
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: I'm fully in full disclosure. I know my team will
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: suck because it's not gonna have enough you know, lineman,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: well won't have any lineman and it also won't have
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: any bad guys because I don't I don't really have
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: time for it. Paul's league, like they count to three Mississippi, right,
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: and then they I fully understand that that my philosophies
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: are flawed. Yeah, well, I think just to Evan's point, like,
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: I think this is where we're at right now. It's
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: like the debate of what's more important protecting him or
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: giving him guys that like are so good it doesn't
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: really matter to get the ball out in two seconds,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: right if to Evan's point, that's why you have to
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: sort of cater to what you have. And I think
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: an offensive line is far more important for a guy
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: like Mac Jones than it would be for somebody else
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: with talent. Yea Andrew and La says, after being able
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: to watch this great dynasty and its entirety as a
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Patriots fan, I can honestly say a big population is
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: this fan base did not deserve the goat this population.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: Evan included Shane Brady for leaving and also remembering the
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: good times while he was here. You hate that he left,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Ask yourself why he left. You think someone that had
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: his competitive spirit and fire should be subject to disrespectful
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: contracts year after year. Meanwhile, your coaches Henchman's spew nonsense
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: like we could have with any top ten quarterback. I
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: guess you don't love what made Brady Brady. He has
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: it in his DNA to prove his doubt is wrong.
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: So if you supported the institution that was insulting him,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: you didn't love Brady. You love the winning that Brady
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: brought you. I also hope he doesn't sign a one
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: day contract, but it's for much different reasons. So there,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: so they're there. I did love Brady. That's that's why.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: That's why my heart is broken, is because I I
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: loved him deeply and then he he left me and
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: it was devastating. Yeah, you suck a lot a lot
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: of um Ray in Pennsylvania. Inspired by evans recent heel
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: turn on Tuesday's show, I came up with a nickname
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: for everyone when they are a little angry, starting with
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: Paul aka Snarky Paul or the Great White Snark. No
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: point in changing perfection there, thank you. Next we have
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Deuce or sneaky negative Deucee, but as of recently, he's
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: closer to diabolical Deuce than he is sneaky negget like them.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: Now time for nicknames for the rest of the Grumpy crew.
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: Fred is furious, Freddy or Curmudgeon Kourish, Evan is Evil Evan,
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Alex Yeah, Alex is angry Alex Yes, question Mark that too.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Tamara is Testy Tamara, and Marine Corps Matt drawing a
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: blank there. I think just Psycho. I don't know, maybe
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: like Jake Steele or something. Well that's my superhero name.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: That's just in case. Um let's see. Tony writes in
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: regarding how hard it is for Brady to stop remember
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: teammate after teammate and opposing team players have called Brady
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: the most competitive athlete they've ever seen, and pro athletes,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: these are people who are among the most competitive jules
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: there are. So I think it's he's like he's probably annoying.
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: I respect it, but it's like it's so competitive. You're like, dude,
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: we're just we're just playing checkers, like we're just doing
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: a thing. Like you don't have to get all angry
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: about it. Like I mean, I think we've all probably
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: had friends like that who just like can't let it
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: go and get way too into it. And that's what
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: you get from Montana righted, Like I'm looking right over
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: that piece that I was talking about. Montana has that
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: same you know chip that So how does it very
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: It's amazing how similar because of the doubters, Like he
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: went to Notre Dame and he just was never accepted.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: So it was like real doubters though, because I know
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: a lot of people who have like fake doubters and
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: they just like, no one believes in me, like no
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: one's saying they don't believe it. I think it's almost always, yeah,
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: I think it's almost always born out of reality, you know. Yeah.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: Well it's like like Brady, Like I like to tease
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: Brady the overcoming adversity thing, you know, Like, I know
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: how hard it must have been to, you know, go
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: to Michigan to play football, one of the most sigeous universe.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: I know how major League Baseball draft I know, yeah,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: and be drafted in baseball as well. I know how
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: much you know, he overcame, as you know, he had
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: to wait till he was like a freshman in high
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: school before he got his own personal throwing coach. I
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: get a lot of adversity there, but there is truth
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: to the fact that Lloyd Carr just wouldn't allow him
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: to be the starting quarterback period, like it was Drew Henson.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: He's gonna split time, he's gonna come in for a
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: certain series because he was the next fair haired boy,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: and Brady just kept having to keep beating him down
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: before we finally won the job. Like there's there's some
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: truth to that. And I and I'm sure, like if
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: you're Brady, you know inside I'm good and they're not
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: seeing it, right, there shouldn't even be a question here. Yeah,
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: So Brady was a Shrine Bowl guy. So I was
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: watching his Shrine Bowl back in two thousand, lighting it
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: up at the Shrine Bowl in classic Tom Brady fashion.
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: And I think it's funny because the same to Paul's point,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: I was like, what what didn't Michigan see and like
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: he went to the Shrine Bowl and he and he
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: was just you know, throwing the ball all over the place,
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: and I'm like, wait a second, Like this is why
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: didn't they he start all the time at Michigan. Like
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: I'm very confusing. Then at least those last two years,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: you know, like and I can under stand, like you know,
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: when he got there, he had he was fighting with
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: like Drees Box and Greasy and you know, those guys
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: were pretty good. Like Drew Henson never turned out to
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: be anything, you know, and he kept having it. And
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: you know, if you want to say, well, what's the
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: big deal? Why is he it did? It was the
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: reason why he was drafted in the sixth round because
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: NFL Evalueo just kept looking at and saying, tease, I
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: see what Evan's seeing. But why why, you know, why
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: why does he not just take the job by himself?
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: And it's got to be something Lloyd Car's probably not. Well,
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: it turns out Lloyd Car probably was an idiot. Right.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: I just remember as when I back when I was
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: a what's the term casual, when I was a casual fan,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: like I just like, I can't ever, I can't every casual.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: But I just remember and and I love Drew like
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: I have all the respect in the world. But there
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: was something about Brady when I just going to the
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: bar out in California the Patriots got this new quarterback.
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: There was just something about him to me that I'm like,
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: this guy looks like like he can do it, Like
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: he just looks like a quarterback to me. And you know,
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: I don't know. There was just something about his his mojo,
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: his swagger, whatever it was, he just he had it
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: instantly for for I guess in the second season. I
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: never even probably saw him in two thousand. But let's
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: get back to the phone's Henry's in Norway, Hendrey. Thanks,
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: thank you, uh one relate Patriots related question and one
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: key You related question. A couple of months ago, Fred,
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: you mentioned that Evan had some grievances. Yes, and we
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: never heard what those war. I believe I don't know
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: what they are. Evan. Do you want to share your grievances?
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: I have a note festivals. He takes notes on his phone,
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: So okay, because you want to hang on while he
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: goes over and I'm going to hang out in spiral bound.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: Just one more question. Yeah, in terms of arm strength,
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: how how good of an arm arm did Tom Brady
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: have compared to everyone else? I think he was an
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: upper you know, not top, but he was above average,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: above average arm. He didn't have a cannon, but definitely
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: above average arm. No doubt that's part that was underrated
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: with him, Like his arms strength. I think I heard
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: a lot too that he threw a nice ball. Paul,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: you're a quarterback and you could probably speak to that mean,
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: but like you know, like I threw him. But but
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: but I think that was part of like his appeal
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: was just that he threw a nice ball. Yeah, Pillowy,
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: I agree with Fred's description. I think his skills were
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: woefully undersold coming out of college. He threw the ball
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: in training camp. He sure much better than anybody ever
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: said that he was capable of throwing the ball. Now.
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: I don't think he had you know, upper echelon arm strength,
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: but he could get it there. He had upper I
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: never remember being like it was above average. Get there,
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: get there. You never remember that upper one could h
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: him a nod. He didn't have the the off platform
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: like my homes Josh Allen off the back foot, but
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: his ability to drive the ball into the middle of
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: the field, in particular just to step into it and
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: on cork one, you know, right in between two zone
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: defenders or something. I mean, I was always like some
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: of those like overtime throws against the falcons, like the
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: Hogan and too into a mendola, like the out where
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: it's just like it is absolutely perfect. You can't defend it.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: It's perfect. But never perfect. While the ball was in flight,
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: you never said, yeah, where I was going? Since where
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: I was going with this? And I was explicitly yeah,
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: more than I do, I knew that was where this was.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: God that that I can't I can't deny it. I'm like,
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: get there, get there, get there, all right? So what
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: do you got, Evan? Okay? All right? So this can
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: we have all disclosure? And this was when I was
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: in Arizona, right, So this is between the Cardinals and
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: the Raiders week and I'm in the three months ago,
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: I'm in the hotel and the night but we're about
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: to go to Vegas and uh, and I'm packing. So
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I'll throw on the pod and
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: listen and what the guys are and gals were talking about?
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: And uh, there's a there's a couple of things in
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: here that I didn't really like. All right, all right.
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: So Number one, there was some Atlas talk. My my
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: my pup. All right, there's some Atlas talk on the show.
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: And uh, someone said that he's a great Dane. Wrong,
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: not a not a great Dane. I hope the better
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: part is coming. That's like grievance, Yes, my dog, I'm
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: waiting back, you know, Paul called it, I gotta feel
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: that's gonna be was actually a hitch, you know. And
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: then somebody also made a joke that Atlas likes watching
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: film that's goods, and he does. He does. He usually
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: sits like some Choice and and and watches it. Sometimes
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: he wants to put his head on the on the keyboard, though,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: and I have to be like, no, no, no no, you can't.
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: Now You're just things are happening on the screen because
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: you're you're two on the rug only only one time,
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: because we left him overnight for the first time and
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: we went and picked him up and he didn't like that,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: you know, Ridge back not a great Dane's not a
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: kid how much way. So then Alex said that I
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: couldn't own a Great Dane because it would drag me
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: around because I'm apparently I remember that. I remember that
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: was in pent still, so I apparently can't. I'm gonna
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: adopt a Great Dane this weekend just to bring it
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: in And and then the answer to that was also
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: wrong stronger than I look, thank you. Uh. Then Fred
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: commented that, uh, I apparently there's four the transcript of
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: that have we gone through so far, this is number three.
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: Fred commented that in reference to my girlfriend that I
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: had was playing above the rim. That's a compliment, and
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: I think, are you going to stay on the record
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: that you're not And the phrase be careful phrase, the
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: phrase I would like to use was out kicking my coverage.
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: I threw that in there at that point. Yeah, but
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken, I added, haven't we all and one
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: hundred ten percent correct. And because I'm saying that sight
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: und seen, I've never met yours, because I just I
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: like that, I'll kicking my coverage. You better, okay. And
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: then there was a guy last one apparently somebody else
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: called in and said that me and Paul had this
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: huge beef or something like that, that we hated each other.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: And so I just I want to say I have
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: nothing against Paul. I love and I'm not even sure
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: we've ever really had beef. Yes, I'm just glad none
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: of these were HR worthy. Yeah, because that's the one
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: that that hurt me the most, was saying that I
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: hand hurried. Truth hurts me. Fred, could you come down
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: to HR. Yeah, we had one of your employees say
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: that he would accuse him of playing above the rim.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: What does that mean exactly? People don't think I can
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: handle a two hundred pound dollars. Well, maybe we can
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: get Doc McLoud if he's listening, to draw a picture
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: of Evan being dragged by a great day up. So
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: you have a ridge back, Yeah, Rhodesian ridge back or
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: an African lion hound as there now called because Rhodesia
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: is a little bit of a touchy political subject these days.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: But yeah, I like to call him a ridge back. Okay,
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: all right, he's my boy. Um, one more call. Then
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: we're going to talk about the game coming up and
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: do our picks. Austin's in Michigan. What's up, Austin? Hey guys?
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: Uh So, I have two things to talk about. First,
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: you guys been talking about Tom Brady and kind of
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: like honoring his career in a sense yep. And like
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: you know, you talked about like bringing him back for
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: a dollar a day contract or whatever. And I've been
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: thinking about this a little bit, and we did that
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: for Vince Wilford, and I thought, if we do that
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: for Tom Brady, it ought to be at least six
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: dollars for six Super Bowls, Yeah, yeah, or twelve dollars
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: do you actually pay. It's not really about money, so
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: one day contract, it's a ceremonial. Yeah. Yeah, Well that's
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: why I think it'd be kind of you know, funny
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: to do six bucks that one, you know. I think
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: I think the only contract he should get is one
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: for life. Contract for life. What's that payout? Well, whatever
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: it is, I mean, I don't see the money is
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: irrelevant here. These are all honorary. It's like, you know,
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: getting a doctorate from a college that you didn't attend,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, I just don't want to end. Uh.
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: My second thing is, uh, you had a caller or
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: something earlier talking about how Dappy should be like you know,
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: the future QB or whatever, and uh, I'm just looking
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: back at this year and last year. I feel like
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: one of the most comparable games that you could put
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: the two together is the Patriots versus the Browns, And
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: I look at that game and mac Jones. He didn't
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: have as many passing yards, but he had more touchdowns,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: and I feel like that's some sort of validity to
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: you know, what he can do when he has a
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: little bit more support behind him. You know. I felt
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: like with Bailey Zappy it was a little bit different. Obviously,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: he's a rookie, so a lot of teams don't really
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: know how he plays necessarily in the NFL quite yet
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: because they don't have enough film on him to kind
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: of get a, you know, an understanding of his game.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: But I look back at that and I don't I
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: think personally that Mac Jones should be the guy of
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: the future. He just needs a little support. And you know,
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: I mean, we haven't had the greatest team based off
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: of guilt position players in a couple of years when
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: you compare us to like people like the Bengals or whatever.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: But I feel like you give a guy like Mac
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: a little bit of help and he could do a
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: lot with it. Well that's the hope. That's the hope. Yeah,
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: I'm praying every Sunday for it. All right, thanks Austin.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: I just think, to Paul's point, I just hope they
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: do enough this offseason that we all feel like he
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: has enough around him to be properly judged with an
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: offensive coordinator and you know, it's like unless he does well,
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: I mean, we just need to give him the support
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: like that Cincinnati provides, Like, yeah, we're not going to
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: get your Marchase. Who's the greatest coach in the history
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: of the NFL? Bill Belichick? Oh, Who's Cincinnati has three
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: receivers that anybody Blumac Jones's coach? No support, lack of
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: support killing him? Um, that's Paul Cincinnati. Is he laughing
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: stock in the league? Right? Yeah? But Bill, Bill's not
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: catching any passes or running any routes. I'm just talking
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: about We're talking about support. I know, I think what
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: the Joe Burrow and arguably the worst situation that you
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: could possibly inherit understand, But what the caller is calling
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: support is no who was on the field with him?
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: And I'm not a moron, I know what he's talking about.
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: But yes, they don't have as much talent as Cincinnati
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: on the field. They have a lot of things that
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: blow Cincinnati away off the field in terms of ownership, franchise, tradition,
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: head coach like things that Cincinnati couldn't even think about. Right,
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: But we got to score touchdowns? Yeah? Well, I think
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: Joe Barrow be scoring a lot of touchdowns if he
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: was the Patriots quarterback. That's just my opinion, probably more
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: than Mac. But you know, I saw Joe Burrow that
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: last night they did the NFL Films wrap up of
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: the miked up for the season, and one of my
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: favorite moments was Joe Burrow swallowing a bug on the field.
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: It was hilarious, like he says, oh, oh my god,
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: I just swall like he's always just so calm, cool
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: and collected, and it was like he swallowed a bug
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: and he was like everybody normal. They had a bad reading.
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: God they should those get me going. I just swallowed
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: a bug. So gross. That time of the show, the
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: big game, the super Bowl. So this is it to
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: the fourteen and three Chiefs are against the fourteen and
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: three Eagles, A good matchup. Yeah, I'm excited about this game.
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: Um So, Paul, I know we did it last week,
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: but just remind I want to congratulate you, Fred Kersh. Yes,
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: twenty one weeks it took, but Fred Kersh, I say
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: I save the best for last. It's it's this is
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: the time that separates the two and both the road
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: overall in with the spread with the number with the
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: number two, and oh uh, everybody else was one and
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: one and have was not here last week. Um oh,
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: two weeks ago whenever we put that, um So, let's
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: see Paul and Fred or nine and three. Dudes is
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: eight and four, Alex one and one, um Evan is
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: eight and two. So you didn't participate last week, but
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: I would have picked um and if and if it
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: was wrong, he would have gone through great lens to
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: tell everybody why he was still right. So that's why
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: people think we got beef. What's the number? What's the
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: number of this for this game? Paul? The number that
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: I saw this morning was the Eagles by one and
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: a half. Oh so it's gone down well, Kansas City opened,
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: as I know, but it went up to two and
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: a half for the Eagles. Now it's back down to
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: you know that it could be two and a half.
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: I just did a thing on my phone because I
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: completely forgot because we had that meeting all morning and
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: I didn't get it off of my website that I
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: normally go to. It's one and a half on ESPN, Right, Okay,
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: one and a half. We're gonna go with that, by
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: the way, six and six or fread six and six
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: or Paul four and eight for Mike on the spread. Okay,
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: I didn't give those numbers one and one for all right,
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: any prop bets we should know about Paul. I didn't
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: write any of them down again, Um, we would tie
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: up all morning. I normally have a little fun with that.
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: I give you. I give you guys like eight or
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: ten prop bets. I don't have all the number I
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: had one of them. It's like, Uh, the prop bet
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: was will they do a split screen of the But
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: to me like, if I know somebody at Fox that's
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: in the truck, that's why you guarantee me? And then
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: I go put ten grand on this. Well, here's the
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: thing that's so easy to take it a step further.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: If you're the producer or the putting a million on it, right,
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: you drow it. You have somebody to do well. I
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: think that if you bet a million, the house would know,
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: but you do it. You have someone else go and
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: put like one hundred grand on it or something. Well
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: even that much that flags would raise, but you do
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: a lot. Well, that's why you have five people do
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: ten grands. You know we recently, um, you know it
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: recently passed in Massachusetts on the thirty first. You had
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: all the sport book at at when when uh whin bet?
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: I think it's called inside of the encore Um and
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: the the Gentleman that was on specifically for that reason, Fred,
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: they do not take any of those kinds of prop bets. Yeah,
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: that can be you know what color is the gatory, right,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: like someone knows what you like. That's information that can
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: be known. So mahomes attempts is thirty eight and a
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: half right now, that's a pretty high number. It's a
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: pretty high number. But I feel like if you're the Chiefs,
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: you go down swinging with the cornerback. I think touchdowns
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: like one and a half was like pretty good odds
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: um over one and a half for Mahomes. The closest
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: iver guy was one of the Patriots Super Bowls. They
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: actually had a line on what color hoodie Bill Belichick
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: was gonna wear. You really are but like to me
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: like something like that, if that's an actual thing you
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: can bet on, Like Bill's tell him his friends, I'm
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: gonna wear blue. Yeah, but knowing him, he came out
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: with the red. No. But no, they're telling all his friends.
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: And just when you thought you had all the answers,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: I changed the question. All right, we gotta hurry, we
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: gotta hurry. I gotta go first. I am one and
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: a half prefaces a little bit. I am gonna stick
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: with the Eagles, even though I've been you know, I
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: feel like people are trying to talk me out of them.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: A lot of respect for Patrick Mahomes. I just think
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: the injury is gonna make a little bit of a difference,
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: and I think just overall, the Philly's got a little
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: bit more talent. So I'm gonna I'm gonna take the
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: Eagles in this one. I think it's gonna be competitive, though.
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna say thirty one to twenty eighth Eagles. Okay,
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: some points scored. Yeah, I want to take the Chiefs,
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: But with Patrick Mahomes's injury, I just don't know if
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: he's gonna be one hundred percent. I think he's gonna
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: have to be to run away from Hassan Reddick and
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: those guys. So I'm gonna take the Eagles. I think
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: on one and a half you have to take them
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: to cover. I mean, I'm not gonna win by by one.
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: So you got a score. I'm gonna say it's gonna
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: be high scoring. I'm gonna say thirty four thirty one Philadelphia.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Evan took my exact score. Prediction. Okay, but
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: with the Chiefs or eight Eagles Eagles, Okay, I want
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: to take the Chiefs too. I don't like it, Paul, Yeah,
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: I would echo everything Evans said. Um, I want to
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: take the Chiefs. I think Mahomes is the best player
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: on the field, and I think that if all things equal,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: I would I would lean to that. I just can't
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: imagine with that pass rush. Even though Kansas City's offensive
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: line is fine, I think the Eagles defensive line is excellent,
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: and I think they're gonna get after him and he's
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: not gonna be able to do what he normally does. Yeah,
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: if I could somewhat be convinced that he was like nine,
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: I would take Kansas City. But I can't. I'm gonna
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: take the Eagles. I'll be rooting for the Chiefs, but
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Let's go twenty seven twenty one Philly.
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: When the playoffs started, I figured it was going to
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: be Chiefs and Eagles, And even back then, when Mahomes
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: is one hundred percent, I felt the Eagles was gonna
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: We're gonna win the game, and I'm gonna stick with that.
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: I don't want to pick the Chiefs and I'm not
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: gonna pick the Chiefs Eagles win this game. They're what
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: is that just your second Super Bowl win? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: so two and two more separation between them in the
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: in the Chiefs. So I don't want that Che's winning
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: any more Super Bowls. Well, I would just say, based
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: on all our picks, if if the Chiefs pull it out,
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: I think we'll we'll all be singing the praises of
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: Patrick Mahows. I'm singing your score. Yeah four Eagles, so yeah,
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: and we're all ignoring all the people that have been
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: telling us a week of how much the Eagles actually suck.
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: And you don't know what you're watching right now. They're
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: a good team. They said that about the seventeen Eagles.
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: I'll that beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. They
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: were right right, all right, that's gonna do it for
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. Everybody, enjoy the Super Bowl
