- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili mornings on demand on 97.1 Mosh FM.
- 0:04Speaker 2: You feeling good this morning? Then tell us all about
- 0:08Speaker 2: it at 866-927-4361. Toby and Chili in the morning. Welcome
- 0:12Speaker 2: to a brand new day. Today would be Wednesday if
- 0:16Speaker 2: you're keeping track. We're halfway through another week. And another
- 0:19Speaker 2: day closer to Halloween. So, thanks for joining Toby and
- 0:23Speaker 2: Chili in the morning as we shake off yesterday, get
- 0:26Speaker 2: this new day started. Why are you feeling good this
- 0:29Speaker 2: morning there, Chili Amar?
- 0:30Speaker 3: My willpower is still holding on strong, and I'll explain.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I bought really good Halloween candy, the minis, but they're
- 0:37Speaker 3: all my favorites.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:39Speaker 3: And they're in a, what is it? A five pound bag.
- 0:41Speaker 3: It's a big bag, Toby.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Costco size slash Amazon bag.
- 0:46Speaker 4: It's sitting on top. It's Costco.
- 0:48Speaker 3: It's sitting on top of my fridge and every day
- 0:51Speaker 3: I see it and every day I'm tempted, but I
- 0:53Speaker 3: got to say, I'm really proud of myself and I'm
- 0:55Speaker 3: calling myself out now. So I don't, Buckle and do
- 0:58Speaker 3: anything before Halloween. But I am not going to touch
- 1:02Speaker 3: that bag until Saturday night.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Would you like for me to bring some Halloween candy
- 1:06Speaker 2: in that I've got at the house? Because when I
- 1:09Speaker 2: was at CVS yesterday, I might have happened to see
- 1:12Speaker 2: a couple of things that made me go, that looks tasty,
- 1:15Speaker 2: like Twix. But they have a special Twix for Halloween.
- 1:19Speaker 2: And then they even have some of the Christmas chocolates
- 1:23Speaker 2: out already. So I might have grabbed some.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I'm not going to tell you what to do, but
- 1:28Speaker 3: you can put in the kitchen and the vultures will
- 1:29Speaker 3: get to it.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Forget the kitchen. I'm going to put it in our
- 1:32Speaker 2: special little drawer in the studio where we hide our stuff. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I'm feeling good, too, because before I went to CVS
- 1:39Speaker 2: last night, I went by the what's it called? The
- 1:43Speaker 2: county council offices in Rockville for Montgomery County. And I
- 1:48Speaker 2: voted early and I got the sticker to prove it.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You go to the Toby and Chili page and look
- 1:53Speaker 2: in the store. I'm telling you, it's easy to early vote. But, Chili,
- 1:57Speaker 2: I got to tell you, there were a lot of
- 1:58Speaker 2: people there, more people than I expected. I thought I
- 2:02Speaker 2: was just going to just, you know, waltz in, do
- 2:05Speaker 2: my thing. I ended up having to wait a little
- 2:07Speaker 2: bit for one of the voting machines, which I'm not
- 2:10Speaker 2: unhappy about. Do you know why? It means people are engaged.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And this whole thing works. This whole idea of America
- 2:17Speaker 2: works when people are engaged and they actually take the
- 2:19Speaker 2: time to go vote, you know. Anyway, this public service
- 2:23Speaker 2: message brought to you by the people who want you
- 2:24Speaker 2: to go vote because voting is important. Anyway, let's get
- 2:28Speaker 2: into the show today. Got the news coming up. Top
- 2:30Speaker 2: stories at the top of the hour. What's going on
- 2:32Speaker 2: this morning, ma'am?
- 2:33Speaker 3: A new survey reveals just how often a couple's intimacy
- 2:38Speaker 3: gets interrupted every single year.
- 2:42Speaker 4: I'll share that with you coming up in just a few.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 2:49Speaker 3: The vote counting continues in Israel, where Prime Minister Benjamin
- 2:53Speaker 3: Netanyahu's Likud party and his allies.
- 2:55Speaker 4: have a majority of.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Votes counted so far, but they still fall short of
- 2:59Speaker 3: a governing majority. The next closest block is led by
- 3:03Speaker 3: former military chief Gotti Eisenkot. A Herndon man faces multiple
- 3:08Speaker 3: felony charges after a domestic-related shooting had happened in Fairfax
- 3:11Speaker 3: County and injured two men Monday night. Police say that
- 3:14Speaker 3: 32-year-old Olmer Villegas turned himself in and both victims suffered
- 3:19Speaker 3: non-life-threatening injuries. Well, Prince George's County has approved up to
- 3:24Speaker 3: $ 215 million in bonds to help build a $ 1. 4 billion
- 3:29Speaker 3: Sphere Entertainment venue at National Harbor. The 6,000-seat venue is
- 3:35Speaker 3: going to be open or expected to open in 2030.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Montgomery County schools are facing budget cuts and.
- 3:41Speaker 4: A $ 3.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Billion backlog in building repairs. Tacoma Park's mayor raised concerns
- 3:48Speaker 3: about Piney Branch Elementary's aging system and while Magruder High
- 3:52Speaker 3: School parents say that poor field conditions are disrupting student athletics.
- 3:57Speaker 3: While the Washington Commanders hosted a Halloween trick-or-treat event, this
- 4:01Speaker 3: happened at Northwest Stadium yesterday for students from a Maryland
- 4:04Speaker 3: middle school and a Virginia elementary school. The kids were
- 4:08Speaker 3: able to collect candy and then explored themed sweets as
- 4:12Speaker 3: part of the team's community outreach efforts. And a new
- 4:16Speaker 3: survey finds that couples gets interrupted on average 18 times
- 4:22Speaker 3: a year. And the biggest mood killers, kids or other
- 4:26Speaker 3: people at home, followed by one partner being too tired.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Forecast for today, partly to mostly cloudy skies. Highs around 70.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Right now, 48 in Old Town.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Don't forget to get the news 10 past the hour.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Every hour when you wake up with 97.1 Wash FM,
- 4:42Speaker 2: we call it Toby and Chili's Top Stories at the
- 4:44Speaker 2: top of the hour. Now that you're good to go,
- 4:47Speaker 2: stay there because your morning mindset is on the way
- 4:49Speaker 2: because perhaps maybe mentally things aren't as good as they
- 4:54Speaker 2: could be. Or maybe they could be a bit better.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Stay there and we'll see together. We've got Toby and
- 4:59Speaker 2: Tilly in the morning. It's Wednesday at 97.1 WASH FM.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Thank you for making us your choice to get your
- 5:05Speaker 2: day started here in the nation's capital. It's important that
- 5:08Speaker 2: we talk about how you're doing and is such your
- 5:11Speaker 2: morning mindset happens now.
- 5:13Speaker 3: This is when we find a quote and share it
- 5:15Speaker 3: with you because sometimes someone else's revelation can be an
- 5:19Speaker 3: inspiration for you.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Well said, Chilia Marr, this early in the morning. We
- 5:25Speaker 2: turn to the words of John McEnroe, who is obviously
- 5:28Speaker 2: one of the greatest tennis players to ever play the game.
- 5:32Speaker 2: John McEnroe says, everyone wants a great career. Don't miss
- 5:36Speaker 2: your life on the way to work. Everyone wants a
- 5:41Speaker 2: great career, but don't miss your life on the way
- 5:45Speaker 2: to work. You know why this is important? I think
- 5:48Speaker 2: it's important because, sure, a promotion matters. So does paying
- 5:51Speaker 2: the mortgage, and so does paying your bills. So does
- 5:53Speaker 2: making it to your kid's game. So does having dinner
- 5:56Speaker 2: with those friends that you maybe haven't seen in a
- 5:59Speaker 2: while or just enjoying Saturday without checking anything having to
- 6:03Speaker 2: do with work. via email, text, social media, whatever. Success
- 6:09Speaker 2: should not cost you everything that makes life worth living.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And I will tell you that that is something personally
- 6:18Speaker 2: I need to work harder on. And I'm sure in
- 6:21Speaker 2: this town of a bunch of alphas running around that
- 6:25Speaker 2: we probably all need to take a step back and
- 6:27Speaker 2: remember what John McEnroe says. Everyone wants a great career,
- 6:32Speaker 2: but don't miss your life. on the way to work.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Think about it. And by the way, if it spoke
- 6:39Speaker 2: to you, let us know. If you need to find it,
- 6:41Speaker 2: you will. Toby and Chili page, washfm.com. Hopefully that helps
- 6:46Speaker 2: you this morning. And stay with us because in just
- 6:49Speaker 2: a bit here with Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 6:51Speaker 4: You know, forget the spa.
- 6:52Speaker 3: You need to book yourself or treat yourself to a
- 6:56Speaker 3: say no retreat.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Retreat yourself no we're toby and chili in the morning
- 7:02Speaker 2: it's 97.1 wash fm 866-927-4361 is the number to jump
- 7:08Speaker 2: in if you have any thoughts on anything you hear
- 7:11Speaker 2: no that's right no what is a say no retreat
- 7:18Speaker 2: and why is this making its way around the internet
- 7:23Speaker 2: of things today.
- 7:24Speaker 3: So here's the concept. You dedicate an entire day and
- 7:27Speaker 3: you look at your calendar for the next few weeks
- 7:29Speaker 3: and even months and you ask yourself, what am I
- 7:32Speaker 3: doing that I don't actually need to do? And you
- 7:35Speaker 3: start by making a list, look at the calendar, consider
- 7:38Speaker 3: all the future appointments, even social plans, trips, any commitment
- 7:43Speaker 3: that you may have a dread about in the pit
- 7:46Speaker 3: of your stomach. And then you start saying no, Toby,
- 7:50Speaker 3: you start canceling things. it doesn't matter you just go
- 7:53Speaker 3: you know what that nope not gonna do that anymore
- 7:56Speaker 3: not gonna do that anymore and at the end you
- 7:59Speaker 3: feel like this i guess release of pressure because the
- 8:03Speaker 3: calendar doesn't look so full.
- 8:05Speaker 2: So first things first you figure out what you don't
- 8:08Speaker 2: want to.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Do yeah or need to do or need to do it's.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Important because you may need to go to the doctor
- 8:13Speaker 3: but you don't want to go to the doctor yeah
- 8:15Speaker 3: okay Nobody wants.
- 8:16Speaker 2: To go to the doctor.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Make sure that you're looking at things you don't really
- 8:19Speaker 3: need to do as options to cancel.
- 8:22Speaker 2: And they call this a say no retreat. Well, when
- 8:25Speaker 2: I think of retreat, I think of going someplace and
- 8:27Speaker 2: unplugging and doing nothing.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Well, that sounds expensive. This is a lot easier. And
- 8:31Speaker 3: by the way, people probably feel overwhelmed with overcommitting. because
- 8:36Speaker 3: that's true they can't say no they don't feel or
- 8:38Speaker 3: when you commit to something this happens all the time
- 8:41Speaker 3: it's so far in the future you're like yeah i'm
- 8:43Speaker 3: sure i'll be fine doing it sure let's meet up
- 8:45Speaker 3: and then as it comes closer you're like oh i
- 8:47Speaker 3: wish i hadn't said.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yes right so it's like that cruise that you put
- 8:51Speaker 2: a down payment on last week and you know it's
- 8:55Speaker 2: probably way too expensive for things right now go ahead
- 8:59Speaker 2: and circle back and say no to that that's up
- 9:01Speaker 2: to you i don't think i could That's true. Like,
- 9:07Speaker 2: let's see. Hmm. Well, I better not list them. But
- 9:10Speaker 2: I do know this. If a say no retreat sounds
- 9:13Speaker 2: like something you want to say yes to, read more
- 9:17Speaker 2: about it on the Tilby and Chili page at washfm.com.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And thank you for saying yes to us this morning
- 9:23Speaker 2: because we got the news for you. Top stories at
- 9:25Speaker 2: the top of the hour on the way. What's going
- 9:28Speaker 2: on this morning?
- 9:29Speaker 3: Do you think having a romantic relationship with an AI
- 9:33Speaker 3: chatbot counts as cheating? Well, I will tell you what
- 9:36Speaker 3: a recent survey found coming up in just a few minutes.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Oh, baby.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Jesus.
- 9:43Speaker 2: The washing machine just dried. The kid needs braces. Oh,
- 9:47Speaker 2: and the daycare bill is due again. Why is it
- 9:50Speaker 2: that when financial troubles come, they come not as single spies,
- 9:53Speaker 2: but in battalions? We're Toby and Tilly in the morning.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It's 97.1 Wash FM. But we can help with Arthur.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Our $ 1, 000 workday payday right around 9, 10 this morning.
- 10:03Speaker 3: You'll hear a keyword from Jenny Chase. And when you do,
- 10:06Speaker 3: enter it at washfm.com.
- 10:08Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington. Coming up on Top Stories, top
- 10:16Speaker 1: of the hour.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Democrats are bracing for legal fights over next week's midterm
- 10:22Speaker 3: election results. We've got the latest on that story and
- 10:25Speaker 3: others on the way with Toby and Chili in the
- 10:28Speaker 3: morning on.
- 10:29Speaker 4: 97.1 Wash FM.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Democrats are bracing for legal fights over next week's midterm
- 10:39Speaker 3: election results. as the administration challenges voting practices in several states. Now,
- 10:44Speaker 3: the Justice Department has taken action in Alaska, California, and Washington,
- 10:48Speaker 3: while the president is raising concerns about possible fraud in
- 10:52Speaker 3: Minnesota's Senate race. A federal judge is ordering a Justice
- 10:56Speaker 3: Department official to appear in court after the president criticized
- 11:00Speaker 3: her ruling that blocks renovations at East Potomac Golf Links.
- 11:05Speaker 3: The president says he still plans to shut down the
- 11:07Speaker 3: course November 15th. Prince George's County unanimously approved up to
- 11:13Speaker 3: $ 215 million in bonds to help finance a proposed Sphere
- 11:17Speaker 3: Entertainment venue at National Harbor. The 6,000-seat attraction would repay
- 11:22Speaker 3: the bonds through the company and tax revenue generated by
- 11:26Speaker 3: the project. Montgomery County is weighing a $ 356 million repair
- 11:32Speaker 3: of its aging trash incinerator or shutting it down and
- 11:36Speaker 3: sending waste to an outside landfill. Either option could increase
- 11:40Speaker 3: household waste fees over the next five years. Charging an
- 11:45Speaker 3: electric vehicle at 51 public stations in Arlington will cost
- 11:49Speaker 3: more starting November 1st. The county is raising rates 72
- 11:53Speaker 3: percent from 17.6 to 30 cents per kilowatt hour. And
- 12:00Speaker 3: that's to cover installation costs and higher electricity prices. And finally,
- 12:04Speaker 3: a new survey finds that people are kind of divided
- 12:07Speaker 3: over whether a romantic relationship with an AI chatbot counts
- 12:11Speaker 3: as cheating. 37% say it's not cheating. 16% say they've
- 12:17Speaker 3: actually turned to AI for companionship or emotional support. Forecast today,
- 12:22Speaker 3: partly to mostly cloudy skies. Highs around 70. Right now,
- 12:26Speaker 3: 49 in Greenbelt.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And that is the news with Toby and Tilly in
- 12:29Speaker 2: the morning. Top stories at the top of the hour.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Next news right around 710. So next with Toby and
- 12:36Speaker 2: Tilly in the morning at 97.1 Wash FM. Kim from
- 12:39Speaker 2: Fairfax needs a little help to figure out a situation
- 12:44Speaker 2: that she's having with a friend. A friend with benefits.
- 12:51Speaker 2: She'll explain and we'll see if we can help. Hang on.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Time now for a little group therapy at 97.1 Wash FM.
- 12:58Speaker 2: This really is one of the great joys that we
- 13:00Speaker 2: have because I think, and I can't really speak for Chili,
- 13:03Speaker 2: but I think personally that if we talk through a
- 13:06Speaker 2: problem that we can work through anything. You know, and
- 13:11Speaker 2: this morning, Chili, we've got somebody on the phone who
- 13:13Speaker 2: has an issue.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Good morning, Kim. Thanks so much for listening to us
- 13:16Speaker 3: in Fairfax. How can we help you?
- 13:18Speaker 4: What's up?
- 13:19Speaker 6: So I have broken the cardinal rule of friends with benefits.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Oh, this ain't going to be good.
- 13:24Speaker 4: OK, what rule exactly are you breaking here or did
- 13:28Speaker 4: you break?
- 13:29Speaker 6: I am falling for the guy and I want to
- 13:32Speaker 6: know if there's any way to turn the friendship off.
- 13:36Speaker 6: into something real and legit.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Oh, it's real. All right. Those are real feelings that
- 13:42Speaker 2: you've caught toward your partner with whom you practice the
- 13:46Speaker 2: art of procreation.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 13:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Friends with benefits turning into feelings. Whoa, that's some risky territory.
- 13:54Speaker 6: I know you're not supposed to do that. But, you know,
- 13:57Speaker 6: what's better than a friend with benefits?
- 14:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:00Speaker 3: A partner with fewer complications, maybe. What is it about
- 14:04Speaker 3: this guy that you fell for him?
- 14:07Speaker 6: He calls me out on my stuff. And that's not
- 14:10Speaker 6: something that everyone is willing to do. And I like that.
- 14:14Speaker 2: No harm, no foul. The heart wants what it wants.
- 14:17Speaker 4: But are you going to tell him how you feel?
- 14:19Speaker 4: What are you going to do?
- 14:20Speaker 6: I don't know. We'll see. I need some help. Clearly.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Well, let's see what we can find that might help.
- 14:25Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 kim at fairfax caught feels now she wants the
- 14:31Speaker 2: friend with benefits to be more than just a friend
- 14:34Speaker 2: with benefits thoughts what should she do call us we're
- 14:38Speaker 2: talking about it kim hang on the line and we'll
- 14:41Speaker 2: see what the opinion of those listening might be this
- 14:44Speaker 2: morning thank you So we in Chile in the morning
- 14:47Speaker 2: at 97.1 Wash FM in the midst of a little
- 14:50Speaker 2: bit of group therapy. This therapy is great. Do you
- 14:52Speaker 2: know why? Because it doesn't need to be turned into
- 14:54Speaker 2: your insurance and there is no copay. This morning, Kim
- 14:59Speaker 2: from Fairfax has entered the chat in need of some advice.
- 15:03Speaker 3: So she's got a friends with benefits situation with this guy,
- 15:06Speaker 3: but she's caught feelings. I mean, she likes him more
- 15:09Speaker 3: than just a friend. And now she doesn't know what
- 15:12Speaker 3: to do.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Stephen Damascus, do you have any thoughts for Kim?
- 15:15Speaker 5: Friends and benefits, that's a tough one because the guy's
- 15:18Speaker 5: probably just looking at it as a fun time. Even
- 15:21Speaker 5: if you're just friends and benefits over time, if it's
- 15:24Speaker 5: like a habitual thing and it's on a regular basis,
- 15:27Speaker 5: people always catch feelings.
- 15:29Speaker 2: It's human nature.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Is that a good thing or not then?
- 15:32Speaker 5: I think that it's a bad idea because it's not
- 15:35Speaker 5: going to go anywhere with him because in his head
- 15:37Speaker 5: it was just a fling. Unless he also feels the
- 15:40Speaker 5: same way. That's something you should probably talk about.
- 15:42Speaker 3: See, now that's where I do agree with you, because
- 15:45Speaker 3: if she doesn't say something to him, she'll never know
- 15:49Speaker 3: whether he feels the same.
- 15:50Speaker 2: As someone who's been a friend with benefits and who's
- 15:53Speaker 2: had friends with benefits, I can tell you it is
- 15:55Speaker 2: a slippery, slippery slope. Chances are good it's not going
- 15:59Speaker 2: to end well.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 16:01Speaker 5: It's just friends with benefits thing, and it's known from
- 16:03Speaker 5: the get-go.
- 16:04Speaker 6: It's a tricky situation.
- 16:06Speaker 2: As it always is with matters of the heart, Steve. Exactly. Gracias, amigo.
- 16:11Speaker 2: You're welcome. Advice for Kim?
- 16:15Speaker 6: 866-927-4361.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Chili Carmen in Oxon Hill is hanging.
- 16:18Speaker 4: What do you think she should do?
- 16:20Speaker 6: Ah. I say go for it because, you know, you
- 16:22Speaker 6: build that bond.
- 16:23Speaker 4: And I'm sure they're not just, you know.
- 16:24Speaker 7: Benefits with talking, having conversation and getting to know each other.
- 16:28Speaker 6: So what's the harm in trying it out? It's plenty
- 16:30Speaker 6: of fish in the sea. So if he doesn't want
- 16:32Speaker 6: to convert, then he don't get nothing.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Yes, because as the saying goes, why buy the cow
- 16:37Speaker 3: when you can get the milk for free?
- 16:41Speaker 2: Carmen in Oxon Hill, thank you.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Okay, Kim, you've been hearing all the feedback. What do
- 16:47Speaker 3: you think you're going to do about it?
- 16:48Speaker 6: Everyone is saying to just tell him and put it
- 16:51Speaker 6: all out there. And I think I'm going to have to.
- 16:53Speaker 6: I mean, what do I have to lose?
- 16:54Speaker 4: The benefits.
- 16:55Speaker 2: The on-demand nature of things.
- 16:57Speaker 6: The rejection could hurt. I could lose my friend with benefits,
- 17:01Speaker 6: but you know. or it can turn into something even better.
- 17:04Speaker 3: That is a very healthy perspective. And I wish you

- 29:33Speaker 8: have to go to work the next day. Most people.
- 29:36Speaker 4: But it's just a Saturday night vibe. I sense a
- 29:39Speaker 4: butt coming. Halloween is October 31st.
- 29:42Speaker 8: That is the day. And it is just so ingrained

- 30:10Speaker 7: It makes sense for adults, for kids.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Kids want to go out and have fun.
- 30:15Speaker 2: So do adults.
- 30:16Speaker 7: Nobody wants to have to worry about like school and
