- 0:03Speaker 1: Daniel came by the house yesterday to get him to
- 0:06Speaker 1: sign the Funko Pop. Yeah, he came by my house too.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you. He's a lot stockier
- 0:11Speaker 1: than I thought he was. I thought Daniel was like, yeah,
- 0:14Speaker 1: I thought he was gonna be like this little scrawny guy.
- 0:18Speaker 1: He came up. I was like, first of all, I
- 0:20Speaker 1: didn't I didn't get the text or anything. And and uh,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I thought he was wearing full ppe. He looked like
- 0:28Speaker 1: he was straight up dude. But I'm yelling at my
- 0:31Speaker 1: kid when he knocks on the door, like, I'm like, yo,
- 0:35Speaker 1: shot the fuck up, Like I'm like deep in all
- 0:40Speaker 1: my kid, No, but me and my kid are going
- 0:44Speaker 1: at it. And he knocks on the door and I
- 0:46Speaker 1: opened the door and I have no idea who it is.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And in my mind, I'm like, what the fuck? And
- 0:50Speaker 1: I look and I go, I know those eyes. It
- 0:54Speaker 1: was hard. You know, you remember in ET when the
- 0:56Speaker 1: guys were in full suits dealing with sick et. That's Dan. Look.
- 1:00Speaker 1: He was fully when he keered up, which I appreciate.
- 1:04Speaker 1: If you're gonna come to my house during COVID in
- 1:06Speaker 1: Los Angeles. You better be pepeat up, dude. He had
- 1:09Speaker 1: the gloves on. Man, Yeah he had everything. I'm sure. Yeah,
- 1:12Speaker 1: I'm sure he took the gloves off and disinfected his
- 1:15Speaker 1: hands right away. To listen. He probably, like most people
- 1:18Speaker 1: in Los Angeles right now, he probably has the hand
- 1:22Speaker 1: sanitizer that smells like tequila. Am I right? No? I have.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I like this one. It's called this one makes you
- 1:30Speaker 1: smell delicious? What are you drinking? This is a little
- 1:35Speaker 1: thing early for whiskey, bro, so early. I'm living at
- 1:39Speaker 1: COVID life. I'm gonna blow your mind. What this isn't whiskey?
- 1:43Speaker 1: What is it delicious? What is it whiskey? No, it's not.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's actually as it's a bourbon. Oh it's I have
- 1:59Speaker 1: so much talking about I got spit dripping in my mouth.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I have so much to talk to you about.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I wrote down notes because we have so much to
- 2:06Speaker 1: talk about. And ladies and gentlemen, we have the legendary
- 2:09Speaker 1: Johnny c McGinley on the show today. Did you know that, Donald?
- 2:11Speaker 1: I did not know John was on the show today.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I love it. You don't even know who Joelle and
- 2:15Speaker 1: I are booking on the show. It's I handle the
- 2:18Speaker 1: bookings and Joel and Daniel make contact with them, and
- 2:23Speaker 1: it's a surprise to you. It looks like it's a
- 2:26Speaker 1: surprise to Daniel too. Yeah. I had to get an email, Joel.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Do you not know that I did not have Johnny
- 2:34Speaker 1: c on our list for today? Oh my god? That
- 2:37Speaker 1: is okay, So go on, Zach. What were you saying?
- 2:41Speaker 1: You shall get that? To get that intro email? It's
- 2:44Speaker 1: like Dan John's on the podcast. Oh shit, Um, well
- 2:48Speaker 1: now I'm now I'm embarrassed. Let me call him. Did
- 2:50Speaker 1: we talk to Johnny already? Well? I I worked out
- 2:54Speaker 1: a long time ago, saying when do you want to
- 2:56Speaker 1: come on? And I guess I assume you guys we're
- 3:00Speaker 1: shooting the ship with him. I apologize about that. Well, no,
- 3:03Speaker 1: maybe it was a communication breakdown. Donald You can you
- 3:07Speaker 1: can laugh at me if you want, But I I
- 3:11Speaker 1: don't know what's funny right now. Let's call him and
- 3:13Speaker 1: see if he am. I mean, I'm sure he's ready. Hey, Johnny,
- 3:20Speaker 1: see it's Zach Braff. Where you are you coming on
- 3:22Speaker 1: the show today? Right? Today? Yeah? Oh? The twenty ninth okay, okay,
- 3:29Speaker 1: I I had a miscommunication and now I wasn't sure
- 3:32Speaker 1: if it was today at the twenty nine and Donald's
- 3:34Speaker 1: laughing at me. Yeah twenty nine, Hey, Zachie, Yeah, when
- 3:39Speaker 1: when you started screaming why, yeah, well, well the man
- 3:44Speaker 1: was having trouble pooping. Yeah, swallowed my gump? Why why
- 3:57Speaker 1: you know your poop is bad when someone yells walk
- 4:00Speaker 1: all right, I love you. I gotta go. We're doing
- 4:01Speaker 1: the podcast. Okay, Well, I I look like an idiot
- 4:06Speaker 1: right now. I'm okay with it, And you don't look
- 4:08Speaker 1: like an idiot. Hold on, you were about to go
- 4:10Speaker 1: in on me though you were about to go. I
- 4:12Speaker 1: just think it's funny that you don't always know who's
- 4:15Speaker 1: on the show. Yes, do I look like an idiot
- 4:17Speaker 1: right now? Sure? And I think it's always important when
- 4:21Speaker 1: one uh looks like an idiot that they acknowledge that
- 4:24Speaker 1: they do and that they love you. You know, I
- 4:27Speaker 1: love you more. But here's the thing. You didn't have
- 4:29Speaker 1: to apologize for that, because it makes for good pod.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Good pod or your shortening it? Now you give good pod? Yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 1: that you give great pod. Your pod skills are like
- 4:41Speaker 1: top notch. When you give pod I just want to scream, dude,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I freaking make I make audible noises when you're giving pod.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I just when I pod with you, I just want
- 4:52Speaker 1: to shoot my never mind, you ruined it myself. We
- 4:59Speaker 1: were on the right track, but then starting to get
- 5:03Speaker 1: r rated to night I listen, don't like our rated content.
- 5:08Speaker 1: We could have kept it that way and when somebody
- 5:10Speaker 1: was like, yo, you guys are being too uh graphic
- 5:15Speaker 1: or racy, we could be like, get your mind out
- 5:16Speaker 1: of the gather. We're talking about podcasting. You automatically went
- 5:20Speaker 1: to your pod is so good. I want to shoot
- 5:23Speaker 1: and then there was no returning. There was no returning
- 5:26Speaker 1: from that. I fucked up. I sucked up again. Donald.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I feel maybe we can have dan'l bleep some stuff
- 5:34Speaker 1: because you and I, rather than try and censor things
- 5:37Speaker 1: when they get pornographic, it would just be better to
- 5:40Speaker 1: be ourselves. And then when we listen to the edit,
- 5:42Speaker 1: we can say, Dan, just beat that out beat it
- 5:45Speaker 1: beat beat beat beat that out beat beat beat that
- 5:49Speaker 1: beat beat beat. Here we go, everybody gather around CBS
- 5:59Speaker 1: getting down. What's the TP Someone's calling me my agent?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Should I answer it? What if? What if they have
- 6:08Speaker 1: what if they had amazing news. What if they were
- 6:10Speaker 1: like you got that fucking ball? No, no, no, I
- 6:15Speaker 1: never I never liked to whatever your agent calls. It's
- 6:18Speaker 1: either I mean, obviously it can be medium medium news,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but it's either good news or bad news. I don't
- 6:23Speaker 1: want to talk to them right now. I'm really I'm
- 6:26Speaker 1: waiting for this giant megastar to say that he might
- 6:30Speaker 1: want to be in my movie. When you say giant
- 6:33Speaker 1: mega star, yeah, I'm saying I'm not. I'm not. I
- 6:36Speaker 1: don't try and guess, please, but I am. It's that level,
- 6:42Speaker 1: but not that age. It's a it's a it's an
- 6:45Speaker 1: older fellow. But I'm not gonna listen. Please don't guess
- 6:48Speaker 1: because I I don't. I I just I'm nervous, And
- 6:52Speaker 1: let me ask you a question. These are sincere questions. Yeah, like,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I know you've had like half a bottle of bourbon
- 6:58Speaker 1: at once. This is this is all I'm again. Um,
- 7:03Speaker 1: do you think you could beat Brad Pitt in the footrace? No?
- 7:06Speaker 1: I can't beat Brad Pitt at anything except maybe singing
- 7:09Speaker 1: show tunes. Do you think you could beat Brad Pitt
- 7:11Speaker 1: at tennis? Unless he's never played probably not. I feel
- 7:15Speaker 1: like he's probably athletic. I've seen his abs. Just because
- 7:18Speaker 1: you've got abs doesn't mean don't mean you're a If
- 7:20Speaker 1: you have abs, you're probably a smidgeon athletic. No. No,
- 7:24Speaker 1: that's like, that's like that's that's judging a book by
- 7:27Speaker 1: its cover. All Right, you're right, you're right. Why do
- 7:29Speaker 1: you bring up Brad Pitt? I'm just wondering because every
- 7:31Speaker 1: time somebody says anything about anything, you bring up Brad Pitt.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Do you want to dock with Brad Pitt? No? I
- 7:38Speaker 1: don't want to dock Brad Pitt. I God, how many
- 7:41Speaker 1: we're five minutes into the show. You'm a docking already, dude. No,
- 7:44Speaker 1: because I'm a little upset, I'm not. I'm not. I
- 7:48Speaker 1: take that back. I'm not upset. I'm a little uh
- 7:50Speaker 1: disturbed because this docking with Leo thing has gone on.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It's it's it's it's fire. It's a lot of things
- 7:58Speaker 1: are catching fire on the podcast. You know what else
- 7:59Speaker 1: is called fire? What everyone's telling me their favorite new
- 8:02Speaker 1: song is what you're trying to get into a day
- 8:05Speaker 1: of shoon. You're trying to I love the fact that
- 8:08Speaker 1: everybody's spelling it correctly too. Yeah, I bet they google
- 8:11Speaker 1: that shit. They didn't want to be disrespectful to you.
- 8:14Speaker 1: By the way. You know what, um, not only is
- 8:16Speaker 1: that song fire, let's be honest, but um, a lot
- 8:18Speaker 1: of people don't know there's I've I've written a second
- 8:20Speaker 1: I had not just recently, but back in the day
- 8:22Speaker 1: when I came up with this song, there was a
- 8:24Speaker 1: second line to it. Do you know what it is?
- 8:26Speaker 1: The thing you're trying to get into one day of shoon?
- 8:30Speaker 1: What is ant? It was better to aldway? No, No,
- 8:37Speaker 1: that's the second fucking line of the song. Don't tell
- 8:39Speaker 1: me whine lyrics, just trying to get into trying to
- 8:46Speaker 1: do two three four the thing you're trying to get
- 8:49Speaker 1: into day shoon? Comma what is it? So people know
- 8:56Speaker 1: when they're writing it down? Oh man, we gotta get
- 9:00Speaker 1: someone to fucking remix this song for us. I just
- 9:03Speaker 1: think I should be a ring tone. I would I
- 9:04Speaker 1: would not mind that being a ring tone. Come up.
- 9:07Speaker 1: In fact, somebody named their kitten a Dao shoon. I
- 9:10Speaker 1: know they could sing what you're trying to get into,
- 9:16Speaker 1: trying to joell. Can you tell the ring tone folks
- 9:21Speaker 1: that we would like to make um the dao shoot
- 9:23Speaker 1: song and ring tone, I can. I think there may
- 9:27Speaker 1: be a limitation to only one ring tone up at
- 9:30Speaker 1: a time. Or wasn't a naming thing. No, we have
- 9:33Speaker 1: like four up. We've got the theme song, We've got
- 9:37Speaker 1: um No, sorry, we've got the theme song. We've got
- 9:39Speaker 1: Donald's just for notification. Why would there be a limit
- 9:45Speaker 1: to ring tone? No, it was a you're right, it
- 9:47Speaker 1: was a naming problem because we had the they were liking.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so my bad. I think you're trying to
- 9:55Speaker 1: ring tone twice. All right, let me let me lay
- 9:57Speaker 1: it down clean everybody for the ring Everybody, keep it down, everybody, everybody,
- 10:00Speaker 1: keep it down. I'm gonna eat this clean. Here I go, me, me, me, me, me, me, me,
- 10:07Speaker 1: Just do the first first. You don't need to do
- 10:08Speaker 1: the second verse. Let me fucking warm up, please. Mommy
- 10:11Speaker 1: made me mash my m and m's. Mommy made me
- 10:13Speaker 1: mash my m and ms. The lips, the tip of
- 10:14Speaker 1: the teen, the tongue, the lips, the tip of the teeth,
- 10:16Speaker 1: the tongue. Whether want to be cold, weather would be hot.
- 10:18Speaker 1: We'll be together whatever the weather, whether we like it
- 10:19Speaker 1: or not. Okay, i'mra that's really fast. Whether the weather
- 10:21Speaker 1: is cold, whether the weather is hot, will be together
- 10:23Speaker 1: the weather. But the weather, whether you like it or not.
- 10:24Speaker 1: What are whether it be cold weather, whether it be hot,
- 10:26Speaker 1: We'll be to get the whatever the weather, whether we
- 10:27Speaker 1: like it or not. Peter Pipers the pick a pecker.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Picker picked the peck of pickup peppers, peck a pickup
- 10:30Speaker 1: peppers and Peter Piper the pickle peper pickup. What you
- 10:32Speaker 1: trying to get into a dation? What you're trying to
- 10:33Speaker 1: get intu a dation? What's trying to get indutuation? Am
- 10:37Speaker 1: I gonna see me there? It is perfect pitch what
- 10:41Speaker 1: you're trying to get into a damn shoon or what
- 10:45Speaker 1: you're trying to do? I like it to put some growl,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and I did. I put a little growl on it.
- 10:53Speaker 1: If it's gonna be a ring tone, people deserve a
- 10:54Speaker 1: little growl. That's fire, okay, Dan, make me sound good.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But I don't want reaver, but maybe a little bit
- 11:02Speaker 1: of audits. No, no, no, I don't need Autit two
- 11:03Speaker 1: and it was perfect. It's perfect. So many things I
- 11:05Speaker 1: wanted to talk to you about. It actually took notes.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I took Now the Johnny's not in here. We don't
- 11:09Speaker 1: have to fucking Um, I got my Xbox set up.
- 11:13Speaker 1: That's great. A lot of people wing in on the
- 11:16Speaker 1: games I should play, um, and please continue to suggest games.
- 11:20Speaker 1: So just to be clear, I have a brand new
- 11:22Speaker 1: Xbox one. I like. Um, I learned it's called a
- 11:26Speaker 1: third person right, that's what it's third person shooter. Third
- 11:29Speaker 1: person shooter. I don't I like over the shoulder. Um.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I don't like spells and fantasy stuff like I don't
- 11:37Speaker 1: want to know about spells. So an example is hit Man.
- 11:41Speaker 1: You guys have said Red Dead Redemption, right, that's how
- 11:45Speaker 1: I caught and yeah, and Joel, you had suggested the
- 11:50Speaker 1: one where you're it travels through time and you're a killer.
- 11:54Speaker 1: What's it called Assassin's Creed? Assassin's Creed? So if anybody
- 11:59Speaker 1: has any more games like that? Now, what if I
- 12:01Speaker 1: want to play versus a friend of mine in my house?
- 12:05Speaker 1: What's games like Red Dead Redemption are good for that?
- 12:08Speaker 1: They have an online that's really awesome where you can
- 12:11Speaker 1: go on missions and still do really, but if there's
- 12:13Speaker 1: a friend who's in my pod, who's sitting in my
- 12:15Speaker 1: living room, can I can I can I play him?
- 12:18Speaker 1: What's a good game to play him? But then you'd
- 12:20Speaker 1: have to play go ahead? Oh you know. I don't
- 12:22Speaker 1: want to interrupt, but they're games called overcooked. Overcooked as
- 12:26Speaker 1: a team cooking game. One of the games that Donald mentioned,
- 12:29Speaker 1: Castle Crashers is a fun you know sport or fun
- 12:31Speaker 1: you know team game. And then my favorite game is
- 12:34Speaker 1: called Rocket League. And Rocket League is called as a
- 12:36Speaker 1: soccer in cars with rockets on the back. That's you
- 12:40Speaker 1: might want to get into some sports games like FIFA.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I was gonna get a tennis that's cool too, That's
- 12:47Speaker 1: really cool. Yeah, hey pa play you? Can I play
- 12:50Speaker 1: you tennis over the internet. Yes, let's do that, because
- 12:54Speaker 1: I'll fucking crush you. Look at his face. This is
- 13:00Speaker 1: is Joel. Look, I'll fist is. If I can't beat
- 13:03Speaker 1: you in sports in real life, I'm gonna breaking crush
- 13:06Speaker 1: you on. You can probably beat me in tennis right now, man,
- 13:08Speaker 1: in real life? Yep, I probably could. Okay, that's one thing.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Once I got and then and then I took notes
- 13:14Speaker 1: because I had so much to say today. Um, Joel,
- 13:17Speaker 1: the game you had said that you loved On the switch,
- 13:20Speaker 1: A lot of people said it's like the prettiest game
- 13:22Speaker 1: they've ever seen, and I need to buy a switch
- 13:24Speaker 1: just to play that Zelda game. Yeah, yeah, yeah, everyone, Well,
- 13:30Speaker 1: Joel and Daniel waited in heavily. They agree with you.
- 13:33Speaker 1: We agree with you. One now. I tried to get
- 13:35Speaker 1: a switch, by the way, and they're they're sold out
- 13:38Speaker 1: or marked up. Like I said to Donald, these are
- 13:40Speaker 1: things really six hundred bucks and he said, no, that's
- 13:42Speaker 1: like a mark up. Now you can't even get them.
- 13:44Speaker 1: You can't even get him on the interwebs. You can,
- 13:48Speaker 1: you could get a Don't do it, Daniel, don't do it,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you say in a ziplock bag. Absolutely, you don't play
- 13:54Speaker 1: yours anymore. It's I mean I I play a lot
- 13:58Speaker 1: of games, and so it's you know, kind of just
- 13:59Speaker 1: sitting here for the time being. Okay, Well that you
- 14:03Speaker 1: bring it over in your full ppe again and just
- 14:06Speaker 1: be happy to dud. You'll love Zelda, you'll really love
- 14:10Speaker 1: Breath of the While. And if he has just gonna
- 14:12Speaker 1: get a switch, because I I they're like nine hundred
- 14:15Speaker 1: dollars right now. You need to switch. And then you
- 14:17Speaker 1: go back and be like I didn't. I said, no,
- 14:18Speaker 1: wizardy stuff Zelda's got a little bit of magic it.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It's a lot of magic in it. It's a lot
- 14:24Speaker 1: They're gonna be like, would you like to cast a spell? No? Okay,
- 14:29Speaker 1: all I'm saying is with Red Dead Redemption too. I
- 14:32Speaker 1: think there's something about the cinematic quality of that. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 1: I like you know some of the some of the
- 14:38Speaker 1: people on my love it. You can go hunt, you
- 14:40Speaker 1: can hunt. Some of the people on my socials were
- 14:43Speaker 1: saying that I would like this game or that game
- 14:46Speaker 1: because they had a cinematic quality, And that's true. I
- 14:48Speaker 1: would like that Red Dead. You would love Red Dead.
- 14:51Speaker 1: You're right about that, Daniel, because then you could play
- 14:53Speaker 1: the actual You don't even have to play online to start.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You could play the actual story mode. And that's I'm
- 15:00Speaker 1: gonna play online. What's the difference of playing online, Well,
- 15:02Speaker 1: you play with other people and then there's different missions
- 15:05Speaker 1: and you could create your own character. Do you want
- 15:07Speaker 1: to do that with me this weekend? Do you want
- 15:09Speaker 1: to go on a mission with me? Absolutely, Let's do
- 15:12Speaker 1: a mission. Let's kill a bear, a virtual bear, everybody.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I do not believe in killing real bears unless they're
- 15:20Speaker 1: chasing you. Um. Michelle Branch followed me on Twitters swear
- 15:26Speaker 1: to gee, and I was thinking I'm gonna follow her back,
- 15:30Speaker 1: and I was thinking about dming her and saying, will
- 15:33Speaker 1: you come play everywhere on the podcast? That would be
- 15:36Speaker 1: the best day ever. Turn me inside out so I
- 15:39Speaker 1: can say, well, is fanning herself? Everybody, shit, this is
- 15:47Speaker 1: the power of this podcast, this podcast always. I saw
- 15:51Speaker 1: Michelle Branch followed me, and I was like, oh my god.
- 15:53Speaker 1: And I didn't fall back immediately because I was nervous.
- 15:55Speaker 1: And then I thought I would present to you guys
- 15:57Speaker 1: the idea of dmming her. Hey, since we're fans, would
- 16:02Speaker 1: you consider coming on and playing everywhere on the show. Donald,
- 16:05Speaker 1: That would be that would be amazing if we could
- 16:08Speaker 1: start a little concert series on Yeah, that's such a
- 16:13Speaker 1: good idea. We are on, we are with heart, we
- 16:15Speaker 1: are waking of which speaking by the way we should
- 16:18Speaker 1: we should, And speaking of that, Um, I want to
- 16:21Speaker 1: end the show today with this amazing song. I sent
- 16:23Speaker 1: it to you, Donald. Um it's by my girlfriend's brother.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Now you might think Ozach, you're bias it's your girlfriend's brother,
- 16:31Speaker 1: but Toby Sebastian is so talented and I genuinely love
- 16:35Speaker 1: his music and I was like on the treadmill today
- 16:38Speaker 1: working out to this song called Number one Lover. It's
- 16:40Speaker 1: gonna be one of my big summer jams. And if
- 16:43Speaker 1: it's all right with you, Donald, I thought we could
- 16:45Speaker 1: five six seven eight at the end of the show
- 16:47Speaker 1: into it. Yeah, that's fine, let's start dis concience. It's fire.
- 16:50Speaker 1: It's a fake, doctor's real friends. You guys are gonna
- 16:54Speaker 1: want to add it to your playlist for for just
- 16:56Speaker 1: summer bops. I think that's what the kids call it,
- 16:59Speaker 1: or your workout play this because I was rocking out
- 17:02Speaker 1: to it on the treadmill today. So this is what
- 17:04Speaker 1: we're gonna do, guys. We're gonna start a little concert series.
- 17:06Speaker 1: We're gonna come up with a name of rading. Absolutely,
- 17:10Speaker 1: we could have a bunch of people on this is
- 17:12Speaker 1: something that we're gonna do. We are with iHeart I
- 17:15Speaker 1: heeart freaking handles all music. Yeah, maybe figure it out
- 17:18Speaker 1: legally and they will make this happen for you guys.
- 17:21Speaker 1: So I think if we just ask people obviously that
- 17:24Speaker 1: handles the legal or if they're not a giant, you know,
- 17:27Speaker 1: artist and there are, friend, I'm sure that we're allowed
- 17:30Speaker 1: to play them. Um, yeah, I think if we just
- 17:33Speaker 1: ask permission, I think that's it's just about permission. I assume, right,
- 17:36Speaker 1: my my knowledge and this isn't isn't that well, you know,
- 17:39Speaker 1: we can't just play, you know, a song, But if
- 17:42Speaker 1: we know the person or we ask permission, I think
- 17:44Speaker 1: we can play the song. There it is. And my
- 17:48Speaker 1: my friend, I think he'll be fine with I think
- 17:50Speaker 1: he'll be thrilled because, by the way, this podcast is huge.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys realize this, right. I
- 17:55Speaker 1: got another foul and I got another love letter from
- 17:58Speaker 1: Will saying, holy shit, you guys are on fuego. So
- 18:02Speaker 1: there's people all over the world listening to this thing,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and we appreciate them. Thank you guys, so Mike you
- 18:07Speaker 1: so much. We thought it would be like our moms
- 18:09Speaker 1: and maybe eleven people, but this well, I knew it
- 18:11Speaker 1: wouldn't be my mom. I knew it wouldn't be my mom,
- 18:14Speaker 1: my mom, or my wife. I think my mom may
- 18:16Speaker 1: have given up. I think she started and and but
- 18:19Speaker 1: I gotta tell you no, it's just a great feeling.
- 18:22Speaker 1: It's a great feeling. How many of you are listening
- 18:24Speaker 1: to this and whenever will from my heart sends Donald
- 18:28Speaker 1: and I an email with with with holy shit, somewhere
- 18:31Speaker 1: in the paragraph it's a good feeling. I love it.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You know what we should do? Five six, seven, eight
- 18:37Speaker 1: Stories about show we made about a bunch of docs
- 18:42Speaker 1: and nurses said stories. So yet around here, yea, around here?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Did you get that new T Swift album? T Swift?
- 19:04Speaker 1: That first jam is fire? That first jam is fire.
- 19:07Speaker 1: She's got a song with Bonnie Vair which I really
- 19:09Speaker 1: liked a lot of them. If you heard that one yet,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I've listened to a little bit of it. I listened
- 19:13Speaker 1: to the first song about what's the first song? I
- 19:17Speaker 1: think it's called like the first one or something like that. Yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 1: where it's like, you know, uh yo, I knew you'd
- 19:25Speaker 1: come back all of that stuff. I knew you'd come
- 19:27Speaker 1: back that. Like, that's the end of it, dude. She's
- 19:30Speaker 1: on some writing. She's got some writing in her right now. Dude.
- 19:33Speaker 1: She's not goodsting around. She's good and you know what
- 19:36Speaker 1: she she made it sort of a I mean, I
- 19:37Speaker 1: didn't listen a whole thing, but it's sort of acoustic
- 19:39Speaker 1: ee and piano ee and spoke man's can't you can't
- 19:43Speaker 1: say that that girl is not talented. If you're out there,
- 19:46Speaker 1: if there's a person out there, you might not love
- 19:47Speaker 1: her style, but you cannot be a human being and
- 19:51Speaker 1: not say that that girl has talent. This is the
- 19:53Speaker 1: conversation I was having, because me and my wife have
- 19:55Speaker 1: this conversation all the time because I kind of flip
- 19:58Speaker 1: flop when it comes to Taylor. Like I remember when
- 20:01Speaker 1: it when she first came out, I was like, that's
- 20:03Speaker 1: like my little I want my daughter to be Taylor Swift.
- 20:06Speaker 1: And then she started tattletaling on you know, who she's
- 20:09Speaker 1: dating and everything and songs. I was like, I'm not
- 20:11Speaker 1: really into that. Yeah, but let me tell you something
- 20:13Speaker 1: right now. The songs that she sings, the way she writes, now,
- 20:21Speaker 1: she's a she's a modern day She's a modern day poet. Man.
- 20:23Speaker 1: She she is a modern day especially knowing that she
- 20:28Speaker 1: writes her own stuff too. I mean, the young lady
- 20:32Speaker 1: has got some tremendous songwriting skills. I'm understand that she's
- 20:37Speaker 1: writing the lyrics on her own. I think she's got
- 20:39Speaker 1: she's got lots of collaborators with the music. If I'm
- 20:41Speaker 1: not mistaken, it does. I don't care how the instruments. Yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 1: think she does like a lot of guitar and piano stuff.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I mean her parents are in the recording industry, which
- 20:49Speaker 1: is how she sort of got involved. And like to
- 20:51Speaker 1: your guys, this credit her nineteen eighty nine album, which
- 20:53Speaker 1: I think is the album right, No, there's a album
- 20:56Speaker 1: that one in this one. But the Night Night album
- 20:58Speaker 1: sold so well and did so like banger numbers like
- 21:01Speaker 1: other artists, like did an entire rendition of the nineteen
- 21:04Speaker 1: eighty nine album, like just copied it front to back,
- 21:07Speaker 1: and like like, so she's been on that pop scene.
- 21:10Speaker 1: That that that that that record's got so many dope
- 21:13Speaker 1: songs from Shake It Off to h got a long
- 21:16Speaker 1: list of ex lovers. Dude, I got one of songs
- 21:20Speaker 1: on my current workout playlists. I want to tell you
- 21:22Speaker 1: which one it is, because this, by the way, my
- 21:24Speaker 1: workout playlist. I really I'm gonna come through and make
- 21:27Speaker 1: a workout mix for for for the people, because I mean,
- 21:31Speaker 1: there's Avril Levine complicated on here. By the way, here's
- 21:34Speaker 1: a really good song that you guys probably don't know
- 21:36Speaker 1: by Wheezer called Feels Like Summer and uh, I highly
- 21:40Speaker 1: recommend that song because it is a great summer bop.
- 21:44Speaker 1: As the kids say, wait, what's my Taylor Swift song
- 21:46Speaker 1: on this? Oh, you need to calm down. I like
- 21:48Speaker 1: that us somebody that way don't know, but you've taken
- 21:51Speaker 1: chots at me like it's patch and I'm just like, damn,
- 21:54Speaker 1: it's seven a yam. You know I'm gonna be honest
- 21:59Speaker 1: with you. Your gym playlist and my gym playlist are
- 22:02Speaker 1: completely different. I know that we've established that, but I
- 22:05Speaker 1: have a feeling because you like a lot of this
- 22:07Speaker 1: girl pop shit too. Do you just want to hide
- 22:09Speaker 1: it in front of our listeners. I'm not hiding anything
- 22:11Speaker 1: in front of our listens. I feel like if you
- 22:13Speaker 1: you might turn off DMX from one of your workouts
- 22:16Speaker 1: and put on Avril Levine, Avril Labrine. Don't get me
- 22:19Speaker 1: hype like DMX get me high. Just wait till you
- 22:22Speaker 1: hear complicated with some bass. That shit is so slow.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Listen you watch did you watch them that I sent you?
- 22:29Speaker 1: The I hate it when you don't reply to it
- 22:34Speaker 1: really hurts my feeling. I thought our listeners couldn't believe
- 22:37Speaker 1: that how many times you don't reply to me? Dude? Listen, man,
- 22:41Speaker 1: here's the thing. I said. It's always nice stuff. It's
- 22:44Speaker 1: always It's not like, hey man, here's a request to
- 22:47Speaker 1: do something. It's like, hey man, there's this DMX Snoop
- 22:50Speaker 1: thing that's on. I think you're gonna like it. No reply,
- 22:53Speaker 1: no reply, It was dope, I don't So you didn't
- 22:56Speaker 1: watch it. You did watch it interesting and you didn't
- 22:58Speaker 1: even say I'm already watching love you thanks for to
- 23:00Speaker 1: recommend that was you know, those two got so many hits,
- 23:07Speaker 1: it's ridiculous. Uh. I love DMX, I love Snoop Dogg.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Shout out to the mouth. Should we get into the show.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Let's get into the show. Do you want to do
- 23:16Speaker 1: the breakdown? Oh yeah, Tip, I'm a little woozy, as
- 23:20Speaker 1: the kids say nowadays, you're you're woozy. No woozy's when
- 23:24Speaker 1: you've gone hard and then you get tired. No Woozy's
- 23:27Speaker 1: when I'm a little drunk a little bit, and then
- 23:30Speaker 1: you take a little nap. And it's not that I
- 23:33Speaker 1: take a little nap. The booze forces me to nap. Well,
- 23:37Speaker 1: what my puppy does is she sprints around the yard.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Sprince sprince, sprince, sprince s prince, and then it's like
- 23:42Speaker 1: her batteries are dead and she collapses and she's woozy
- 23:45Speaker 1: and now and then when you when you're woozy, you're
- 23:48Speaker 1: also kind of like disoriented, like your body's like I
- 23:50Speaker 1: should be standing but I can't, right, And then you
- 23:53Speaker 1: yell at your friend, I'm woozy. You're ready? Yeah, get
- 23:57Speaker 1: the stopwatchanys stand by, Donald, Get am I stop watch? Okay,
- 24:02Speaker 1: I'm not not world clock stop watch? Okay, and go.
- 24:06Speaker 1: This episode is about being humbled. JD and Carl are
- 24:09Speaker 1: both very high on their horses and mess with the alpha.
- 24:13Speaker 1: In the hospital, Elliot has not only been cut off
- 24:16Speaker 1: financially from her father, but also as Mix diagnosed the patient.
- 24:20Speaker 1: The three of them experienced the rise and falls of reality,
- 24:23Speaker 1: meaning there will be days in life where luck is
- 24:26Speaker 1: on your side and days when it's not. The question
- 24:29Speaker 1: is can you adjust and keep it moving forward? Beautiful,
- 24:34Speaker 1: beautiful twenty seven seconds. Nicely done, nicely done. This is
- 24:39Speaker 1: a very good, very good episode. You liked this episode,
- 24:42Speaker 1: Yeah I did? You didn't? I laughed, okay, because you
- 24:46Speaker 1: you got your phase on a little bit. But I
- 24:48Speaker 1: was all right to get phase OneD in this episode. Okay, Now,
- 24:52Speaker 1: I thought the scene at the end with Johnny C
- 24:55Speaker 1: and I is one of the better scenes of the
- 24:58Speaker 1: show thus far. Yeah. You know, my wife, she got
- 25:00Speaker 1: she watched the show with me. This is her first time.
- 25:03Speaker 1: She doesn't She's never really watched Scrubs before, so this
- 25:06Speaker 1: is maybe her third episode that she's actually seen. Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 1: my girlfriend totals and watched it either, so I can relate. Yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 1: and she was like, oh my god, I just teared up.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It's like, okay, yeah, I can tell you. I got
- 25:18Speaker 1: to be honest with you listeners and you my compatriots.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I think that that scene at the end of this
- 25:24Speaker 1: episode where doctor Cox comes in and has an honest
- 25:27Speaker 1: moment with me. It's not a very long scene. It's
- 25:29Speaker 1: probably forty five seconds if that is really moving, and
- 25:33Speaker 1: Johnny C is really good in it, and I think
- 25:36Speaker 1: I'm proud of the way I am in it too,
- 25:38Speaker 1: And it's Scrubs at its best, which was just dropping
- 25:42Speaker 1: in and having a really frank, emotional, but honest conversation.
- 25:46Speaker 1: And I got goose bumps and it was very moving
- 25:48Speaker 1: to me. Yeah, it was to me too. You know,
- 25:50Speaker 1: you were lucky. JD was very lucky this this this
- 25:54Speaker 1: episode in the beginning, and then he was unlucky, and
- 25:59Speaker 1: it was really it was really interesting to see the
- 26:02Speaker 1: dynamic of of how he takes things. Uh, he saved
- 26:09Speaker 1: a patient's life in the beginning, and he's overjoyed. He
- 26:13Speaker 1: loses a patient and JD's such a good doctor. Now
- 26:15Speaker 1: granted there's there's stuff behind it, Like you know, he's
- 26:19Speaker 1: he wants to be. He still wants to be the
- 26:21Speaker 1: best he possibly can be. But he goes to the
- 26:24Speaker 1: morgue to check out, Okay, what did I do wrong?
- 26:26Speaker 1: How did I mess up? What went wrong here? And
- 26:29Speaker 1: just turns out it wasn't his day. And I thought,
- 26:34Speaker 1: even though it's subtle and he doesn't respond in tears
- 26:37Speaker 1: and he's not breaking, he's not all broken up about
- 26:40Speaker 1: the passing of the patient, the fact that he cared
- 26:42Speaker 1: enough to wonder, Okay, why did I make a mistake?
- 26:45Speaker 1: So where did I make a mistakes? So I don't
- 26:48Speaker 1: make it the next time? Really really important. That's one
- 26:51Speaker 1: of the things I can get lost in all the
- 26:54Speaker 1: la zaniness that's happening, is that JD's a really good
- 26:57Speaker 1: doctor and also strives to be an extraordinary doctor. Right,
- 27:02Speaker 1: and so when he when he feels he may have
- 27:04Speaker 1: fucked up. He's just obsessing about it and wants to
- 27:07Speaker 1: learn and wants to wants to be better and wants
- 27:09Speaker 1: to be great. So I don't know, I just really
- 27:13Speaker 1: like that. I love it when the show um just
- 27:16Speaker 1: drops in and has just just a scene where people
- 27:19Speaker 1: are really honest and straight. And I thought that scene
- 27:21Speaker 1: at the end, Actually it's funny. When I when I
- 27:23Speaker 1: thought Johnny c was coming on this episode today, I
- 27:27Speaker 1: thought it was like, oh, I bet he because I
- 27:29Speaker 1: asked him, I said, hey, man, we want to have
- 27:31Speaker 1: you back, you know, pick pick which one you want
- 27:32Speaker 1: to come on for. And when I saw that scene,
- 27:34Speaker 1: I go, oh, I bet he wanted to come on
- 27:35Speaker 1: for this one because he's really good in that scene.
- 27:38Speaker 1: He's really good in the whole episode. And it turns
- 27:41Speaker 1: out I was wrong, you were You know, the whole
- 27:45Speaker 1: thing is really about you know, what JD goes through.
- 27:48Speaker 1: But it's not because even in stories where he seems
- 27:50Speaker 1: to be the main character in the whole episode, where
- 27:54Speaker 1: it seems like it's based on him, the story really
- 27:58Speaker 1: is and it's about who he's connect to, you know
- 28:00Speaker 1: what I mean, It's about who's connected to him. So
- 28:03Speaker 1: like We had Tom Kavanaugh on just recently, great episode
- 28:07Speaker 1: by the way, and uh, you really believe that it's
- 28:11Speaker 1: the show? Like when watching it at first, I was like, oh,
- 28:14Speaker 1: this is a show. This episode's about how JD reacts
- 28:17Speaker 1: to his brother. No, this episode really is about Tom Kavanaugh,
- 28:21Speaker 1: you know what I mean, It's not about what. It's
- 28:23Speaker 1: not about I don't know, it's it's it's it's I'm
- 28:26Speaker 1: having a hard time explaining it right now. But I
- 28:29Speaker 1: just feel like JD is, even though he's the leader,
- 28:34Speaker 1: he's the lead on the show, the show is never
- 28:38Speaker 1: really about him, and this is one of those episodes
- 28:40Speaker 1: where it was about him and was about you know,
- 28:43Speaker 1: how how how serious he takes every how it's serious
- 28:49Speaker 1: he takes his job in the hospital, Yeah said whatever, whatever.
- 28:56Speaker 1: You can hate on me all you want. It's just
- 29:00Speaker 1: it's just it's just, you know, now I'm watching it
- 29:03Speaker 1: from a different point of view. Before I was watching
- 29:05Speaker 1: it or not watching it because I was on it.
- 29:08Speaker 1: And now that we've started this whole podcast thing, it's like, well,
- 29:12Speaker 1: you know, what is Bill trying to say? What are
- 29:13Speaker 1: the writers trying to say when they're making this. I
- 29:16Speaker 1: get that this has a long run, and it's going
- 29:18Speaker 1: to be on for a really long time. But I
- 29:20Speaker 1: feel like every episode, some somebody's trying to say something,
- 29:26Speaker 1: trying to some messages, trying to come here and also
- 29:29Speaker 1: make it universal, because obviously this is an extreme work environment.
- 29:32Speaker 1: This is they're literally dealing with life and death. But
- 29:34Speaker 1: make it universal for people who no matter what your
- 29:37Speaker 1: job is, no matter what your relationship status is, that
- 29:40Speaker 1: no matter what would country live in that there's certain
- 29:43Speaker 1: just truths about being a human and being in love
- 29:47Speaker 1: and having best friends, and and and striving to do
- 29:51Speaker 1: great both in life and in your job that are
- 29:53Speaker 1: that are universal and and and the show really attempts
- 29:56Speaker 1: to tease all that out so we can all share
- 29:59Speaker 1: a common story. But this episode, you know, it almost
- 30:03Speaker 1: felt subliminal, you know what I mean. It's like if
- 30:05Speaker 1: you're not really paying attention, you don't pick up on that.
- 30:08Speaker 1: You just pick up on the jokes and the fact
- 30:10Speaker 1: that Cox is, you know, back with Jordan, and you
- 30:12Speaker 1: don't really dig that deep into it. That's what really,
- 30:15Speaker 1: to be honest with you, this whole uh having to
- 30:18Speaker 1: summarize the story in thirty seconds, that's what that's doing
- 30:22Speaker 1: for me now, because now it's like, all right, what
- 30:24Speaker 1: is this about? What is what is the writer trying
- 30:26Speaker 1: to say in this story? It's not just about there's
- 30:29Speaker 1: a funny joke at two minutes into the it's it's
- 30:32Speaker 1: more than that. It's about, you know, overall, there's a
- 30:36Speaker 1: message that I'm trying to make clear for all of
- 30:40Speaker 1: the viewers. And this is one of those episodes like
- 30:43Speaker 1: ever since the last episode, I'm like, all right, what
- 30:45Speaker 1: are we trying to Yeah, that's true, that's true, but
- 30:48Speaker 1: they all have some underlying message. But but I think
- 30:51Speaker 1: you've been good. You've been good at teasing out what
- 30:53Speaker 1: it is, even more than more than the voiceovers do.
- 30:56Speaker 1: This is the episode that Neil Flynn is not in.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I forgot We we figured out what the reason was.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Do you remember what it was? So they didn't have
- 31:04Speaker 1: to pay him? But why there was it? Something they're
- 31:07Speaker 1: not trying to see just Neil's salary because he's not
- 31:12Speaker 1: a regular at this point. Oh, I think if he
- 31:14Speaker 1: had done X amount of episodes, they would have had
- 31:17Speaker 1: to bump him up to a higher salary. Right, he
- 31:19Speaker 1: didn't become an official regular, I guess until season three.
- 31:24Speaker 1: That can't be true because they put him in the
- 31:26Speaker 1: in the in the rejected new title sequence, I don't
- 31:28Speaker 1: I don't know, dude, And the credit on this episode too,
- 31:31Speaker 1: I think. But didn't Neil say wait, didn't Neil say something?
- 31:35Speaker 1: You guys? When he was on that there was a
- 31:37Speaker 1: quick scooter joke that he he wrote in he and
- 31:40Speaker 1: he wiped out and then um and I was an
- 31:43Speaker 1: electric scooter and then they ended up cutting that out.
- 31:46Speaker 1: That's why he's credited, but he's not in the episode
- 31:47Speaker 1: because it was just one quick pop but they edited
- 31:50Speaker 1: it out. That makes sense. I'm trying to remember it.
- 31:52Speaker 1: We've done so many of these, trying to call all
- 31:54Speaker 1: of Oh, by the way, speaking of of of trivia,
- 32:00Speaker 1: I went on Scrubs Wiki today as I normally do
- 32:03Speaker 1: before the episode, and I scroll down to trivia, which
- 32:09Speaker 1: is the section I enjoy the most, and the top
- 32:12Speaker 1: the top bullet point is loving the podcast, Zach, exclamation point,
- 32:17Speaker 1: all the love in the world to you, and Donald
- 32:19Speaker 1: happy to keep answering trivia and hell no, I'd never
- 32:23Speaker 1: sell those Funco pops. So there you go. I think
- 32:30Speaker 1: we have a clear answer from from Trevor Wiki that
- 32:33Speaker 1: he's down okay TV. But I think you know he wasn't.
- 32:35Speaker 1: He wasn't hiding messages in the Scrubs wiki until now.
- 32:39Speaker 1: So I think it's all this talk of the sign
- 32:41Speaker 1: Funko Pops that's really made him, made him tickled. I'm
- 32:43Speaker 1: just gonna keep it one hundred. We had to bribe
- 32:45Speaker 1: him to get him. Well, we don't know that, Donald,
- 32:48Speaker 1: we don't know that. You don't have to keep it
- 32:49Speaker 1: one hundred. You could keep it a dollar fifty. That's
- 32:53Speaker 1: more than a hundred. No, one hundred dollars is keep
- 32:56Speaker 1: it one hundred is one hundred dollars. I said you
- 32:58Speaker 1: could keep it a dollar fifty. One pennies is a dollar,
- 33:02Speaker 1: keep it one hundred. But I thought what people were
- 33:04Speaker 1: saying one hundred, they meant one hundred dollars, not one
- 33:06Speaker 1: hundred nineties. It's not keeping one hundred dollars, it's keep
- 33:08Speaker 1: it one hundred percent with me. Oh, keeping one hundred
- 33:10Speaker 1: percent with you, dog got it? Okay, So I'm gonna
- 33:20Speaker 1: keep it one hundred with you. Trevor Wicky is down

- 33:27Speaker 1: well the funkos have been signed. Dan is gonna take you. No, no, no, no,
- 33:34Speaker 1: Where does Trevor Wicky live? Don't know? I mean, what

- 33:45Speaker 1: one I've ever signed. I didn't know whether to sign
- 33:46Speaker 1: on the box or on the actual figuring? Donald, did
- 33:49Speaker 1: you sign the box the figure? I signed the box.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I didn't sign the figuring. Okay, I signed the box too. Yeah?
- 33:55Speaker 1: You know, you know you just made Trevor Wicky a
- 33:58Speaker 1: lot of money. He could no, but he just promised
- 34:00Speaker 1: in the secret message on the Scrubs wiki that he
- 34:02Speaker 1: wasn't gonna sell them. I believe scrub. I believe Trevor
- 34:06Speaker 1: Wicki is a man of his word. Zack, you don't
- 34:09Speaker 1: believe Trevor Wicki is a man of his word. Trevor Wicki,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I need you to hide me and the next week's episode,
- 34:14Speaker 1: I need you to hide me another message in Scrubs
- 34:16Speaker 1: WICKI that you got that you pinky swear that you
- 34:18Speaker 1: won't sell them. You're saying that's how much could be worth? Really?
- 34:22Speaker 1: Come on, you've never signed one, so that's one in one.
- 34:27Speaker 1: There's only one of the one of one. Yeah, and
- 34:29Speaker 1: I won't be signing anymore because in COVID, who the
- 34:31Speaker 1: hell is going to come up to me and ask
- 34:32Speaker 1: me to sign them? So it's he's got an exclusive.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Do you know what that means? That it's worth what
- 34:38Speaker 1: fifty bucks? It's priceless. He's not gonna sell it. The
- 34:43Speaker 1: man loves Scrubs and he's got the only signed j
- 34:45Speaker 1: D Scrubs Funko Pop. Come on, that's a treasure. And
- 34:47Speaker 1: if you don't sign it and you die, it's price.
- 34:51Speaker 1: By the way, Trevor Wicky, make sure that you Oh,
- 34:53Speaker 1: if I die, then it's worth some money. If I die,
- 34:57Speaker 1: it's like it's like a bos No. That's like twenty
- 35:01Speaker 1: million dollars. I think it might even if I die,
- 35:04Speaker 1: the only signed j D Scrubs Bob could be worth
- 35:07Speaker 1: like a thousand bucks. And and everybody knows Trevor has
- 35:11Speaker 1: it too. Trevor, are you good with the martial arts? Well,
- 35:15Speaker 1: we're not gonna say where the guy lives. We're not
- 35:16Speaker 1: gonna be people aren't gonna be coming into his house
- 35:18Speaker 1: for seventeen twenty six Ridge row Way, No, I don't know, dude.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Let's take a break. We'll be right back after these
- 35:26Speaker 1: fine words, Yo, John Michelle, and to be getting up
- 35:36Speaker 1: the show, dude. Yes. So the first face you see,
- 35:38Speaker 1: the angry neighbor is John Michelle. He is one of
- 35:42Speaker 1: our editors. He won the uh he won the Emmy
- 35:45Speaker 1: for editing Scrubs? Is he the only person to ever
- 35:48Speaker 1: win an Emmy four scrubs? Good question? Did casting win?
- 35:52Speaker 1: It's a good question. That's find out we were we were,
- 35:54Speaker 1: we were, We were nominated a bunch but we always
- 35:56Speaker 1: lost to other other more popular shows. Do you want
- 35:59Speaker 1: to answer as a bride's always a bride'smaid, never a bride?
- 36:03Speaker 1: Do you want to ask Bill this one? This is
- 36:04Speaker 1: something he might enjoy or should we ask Trevor Wicki? No,
- 36:08Speaker 1: Trevor Wicki isn't This is something he just said that
- 36:11Speaker 1: he wants to participate. You let's ask him like some
- 36:15Speaker 1: like real trivia stuff. This is something that Bill would
- 36:17Speaker 1: like to talk about. You know that olides for creating
- 36:20Speaker 1: such a wonderful show. I remember one year we got
- 36:23Speaker 1: like nominated for like a bunch of categories, but not
- 36:27Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't we never want anything, I
- 36:28Speaker 1: don't think. Well, dude, I remember the one time we
- 36:30Speaker 1: wouldson Bateman and beat me on one year and then
- 36:34Speaker 1: um Tony Shaleu beat me like every year every year.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I remember when fucking Shaloub you want every he beat everybody.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I've never seen an episode of Monk. I'm sure it's
- 36:43Speaker 1: a wonderful show. But have you ever seen episode of
- 36:44Speaker 1: a Monk? I've never watched a Monk in my life.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I've never seen episode a Monk. Okay, well, there you go.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Joel's the one who loves Monk. I think seniors love
- 36:53Speaker 1: Monk and Joel. Seniors and joiors and Joel. It's like
- 36:57Speaker 1: Matt Locke. Yeah, Daniel, have you ever seen an episode
- 37:02Speaker 1: of Monk? Yeah, yeah, I've seen a few episodes. It
- 37:05Speaker 1: must be great. I mean, the man's a wonderful actor
- 37:07Speaker 1: and yeah, but he just he's one of the best.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Man come on, No, I'm not. You know who my
- 37:11Speaker 1: favorite is, though, Like listen, you know I love Leo,
- 37:16Speaker 1: you know I love Denzel Stanley Tucci. Oh my, oh yeah,
- 37:23Speaker 1: he's great. I love me so much so that Zach
- 37:26Speaker 1: was doing a play in New York City and he
- 37:28Speaker 1: was doing it with uh who was it Sutton Foster plot? Oh, no,
- 37:33Speaker 1: which one it was? Well, you're talking about the play
- 37:35Speaker 1: I did with Sutton Foster, Bobby kind of Vali and
- 37:37Speaker 1: Ri a Greener. Yes, that was called Trust. And at
- 37:41Speaker 1: the time, you guys were, you know, would go to
- 37:44Speaker 1: that little diner or bar or whatever it is you
- 37:48Speaker 1: guys called a diner. My girlfriend calls it a diner too.
- 37:50Speaker 1: It's not a diner, it's a speakeasy. Okay, well it
- 37:52Speaker 1: looks like a diner. I'm gonna just keep it one hundred.
- 37:54Speaker 1: And because she's called it, I didn't. She called it
- 37:57Speaker 1: a speakeasy diner, and I was like, why do you
- 38:00Speaker 1: a diner? It's a speakeasy. Anyway, So we're there and
- 38:04Speaker 1: Tucci and Shalub we're doing a play together with Justin
- 38:11Speaker 1: National Treasure. What's his name, Bartha Bartha. Yeah. I love
- 38:16Speaker 1: that you call them justin National Treasure, Justin because I
- 38:19Speaker 1: couldn't think of Bartha, who later went to star in
- 38:21Speaker 1: my first play, All New People, which we performed off Broadway.
- 38:25Speaker 1: And you're going anyway. My point is I made an
- 38:29Speaker 1: ass of myself that night to Tony Shalub. I met,
- 38:32Speaker 1: I meet, I meet not Tony Shalub to Stanley Tucci.
- 38:35Speaker 1: You know I have good celebrity encounters. They're always in
- 38:37Speaker 1: batter because when I meet people who I have get nervous.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I get. So it's not that I get nervous, And
- 38:43Speaker 1: if you were to speak easy, you probably had a few, absolutely,
- 38:46Speaker 1: but I get like I get when I see people
- 38:49Speaker 1: who I appreciate and whose work moves me, I want
- 38:53Speaker 1: them to know that that happened for some reason, and
- 38:56Speaker 1: I cannot keep it to myself. And I know how
- 38:59Speaker 1: I I react to people when they are that way
- 39:02Speaker 1: towards me, and how I'm like it. You are just
- 39:04Speaker 1: a little too extra right now. That's me. I can't
- 39:08Speaker 1: help it. Um And I damn near hit on the dude,
- 39:12Speaker 1: like I'm sure he was like this guy wants to
- 39:15Speaker 1: freaking make out with me right now, Like I was.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I was like, I love you so much. Everything you
- 39:22Speaker 1: do is been the best. I can't get over it
- 39:27Speaker 1: you have, Like I was, like, your range is ridiculous.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I've seen you play gangster. I've seen you play every
- 39:33Speaker 1: you know, every every spectrum of you know, whatever it
- 39:37Speaker 1: is that is human out there, I've seen you. Like
- 39:41Speaker 1: I was like, over over myself over him, and oh
- 39:47Speaker 1: my god, I could see in his face he was like,
- 39:49Speaker 1: oh God, please get this guy away from me. Right,
- 39:51Speaker 1: And then somebody hinted him the way the reason made
- 39:53Speaker 1: people go to this place is so they don't get
- 39:55Speaker 1: bothered by people like you. Yeah, no doubt. And uh,
- 39:59Speaker 1: then I think some he spilled to him, like, yo,
- 40:01Speaker 1: that's Donald Fazon. He was on scrubs. He was in clueless.
- 40:05Speaker 1: He's he's an actor, he's done some work, he's successful.
- 40:09Speaker 1: And so he comes over to me and tries to
- 40:11Speaker 1: make amends because at first he was like, yo, dude,
- 40:14Speaker 1: back the fuck up. Oh he thought he was dismissive
- 40:16Speaker 1: of you, very dismissive. He would look for Stanley Tucci.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Then you were saying he was dismissive of you until
- 40:21Speaker 1: he knew you were famous. We were at a bar
- 40:24Speaker 1: drunk and some stranger comes up to you and does that,
- 40:27Speaker 1: I don't care who you are, you're gonna be like,
- 40:28Speaker 1: dude back. I'm not trying to say we We also
- 40:31Speaker 1: don't know what you were like. I mean, you might
- 40:32Speaker 1: be you might have been like I'm saying, I'm right,
- 40:37Speaker 1: and I'm just saying you saw me with Tom Kavanaugh
- 40:40Speaker 1: amplify that with alcohol, right, it's another story, like I'm
- 40:46Speaker 1: probably spitting on the man, like apes of my breath
- 40:50Speaker 1: was well, it might not have been bad, but it
- 40:52Speaker 1: was definitely hot and in his face, you know what
- 40:54Speaker 1: I mean. So he probably needed a napkin after you
- 40:57Speaker 1: spoke to him. Just wipe right. If Corona is, If
- 41:00Speaker 1: Corona was back, then he would probably attack. It would
- 41:03Speaker 1: be like one of those Karen moments where you know,
- 41:06Speaker 1: you attack. Oh my god, did any of the Karen
- 41:09Speaker 1: and the pizzeria getting Oh my god, there's so many Karen's.
- 41:12Speaker 1: There's a lot of Karen's now, there are a lot.
- 41:14Speaker 1: There are so many Karens that there's so many Karens
- 41:17Speaker 1: that people named Karen are like, please stop with the
- 41:19Speaker 1: turning our name into a derogatory statement. You know what's funny.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I watched the Karen video of this crazy woman out,
- 41:24Speaker 1: you know, and they're always about I might have a
- 41:26Speaker 1: right the Constitution says I don't have to wear a mask.
- 41:28Speaker 1: They're always just fucking batch it. And the one I
- 41:31Speaker 1: watched is the pizzeria and this guy started calling or
- 41:33Speaker 1: like he was screaming at it. Don't come anywhere near me. Karen, Like,
- 41:37Speaker 1: if people are starting to Karen in the videos, he
- 41:40Speaker 1: was like, you back up, Karen, all right, should we
- 41:43Speaker 1: get into the show down. We're barely talking about the show.
- 41:45Speaker 1: You're reading them in the opening scene, a skin Diver magazine. Now,
- 41:49Speaker 1: I don't know why you're reading skin Diver magazine, do you.
- 41:53Speaker 1: I think you know he's looking at a little bit
- 41:56Speaker 1: of you know, it's like Maxim. It's not Maxim. It's
- 42:01Speaker 1: like a magazine for people that go like free diving.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I think it was just a prop on the on
- 42:08Speaker 1: the on the on the coffee table, and you probably
- 42:10Speaker 1: picked it up and decided your character was reading a
- 42:12Speaker 1: magazine skin Diver. Didn't sound like that to me for
- 42:15Speaker 1: some reason, some reason, when you said skin diver just now,
- 42:19Speaker 1: it sounded like turk I was looking at, you know, oh,
- 42:23Speaker 1: like a Playboy Maxim kind of thing. No, it wasn't that.
- 42:24Speaker 1: If you look at the cover, it's like it looks
- 42:26Speaker 1: like a diving thing. Okay, you know, hey, props or props.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I think you know, we're not allowed to just hold
- 42:35Speaker 1: up any real magazines, so there's often like bullshit magazines
- 42:38Speaker 1: lying around, and I imagine you were like, maybe Turk's
- 42:41Speaker 1: reading a magazine. Yeah, maybe. I don't read any magazines anymore.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I don't when's the last time you read a magazine.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I subscribe to Architectural Digests because I love architecture and design.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I subscribe to UM American Cinematographer because I love cinematography
- 43:03Speaker 1: and geek out on camera toys. But you can get
- 43:07Speaker 1: all of these online, I know, But I like a
- 43:10Speaker 1: physical thing to hold still. And then what do you
- 43:12Speaker 1: do after I get this? I get the Sunday New
- 43:14Speaker 1: York Times and read that on Sundays. And what do
- 43:16Speaker 1: you do after when you what do you do with
- 43:18Speaker 1: it after you're done reading it? Um? What do you
- 43:22Speaker 1: do after you're done reading it? I throw them out?
- 43:24Speaker 1: I mean I recycled them like a good citizen. I
- 43:28Speaker 1: like a physical magazine. I used to buy them in
- 43:30Speaker 1: the airport when I was flying. I don't really do
- 43:31Speaker 1: that anymore. You got your phone. You used to read, Um,
- 43:37Speaker 1: what did you say the What was the magazine that
- 43:40Speaker 1: you said was Black Maxim King? I used to read King.
- 43:48Speaker 1: You used to love King. I still love King. Wasn't
- 43:52Speaker 1: your co star Stacy Dash wasn't she on the cover
- 43:55Speaker 1: of King. She was on the cover of King. I
- 43:57Speaker 1: remember it was very people owned that issue. Yeah, I
- 44:00Speaker 1: think it was a very naughty photograph if I recall. Listen,
- 44:04Speaker 1: you know when Stacy Dash does anything that is naughty,
- 44:08Speaker 1: people pay attention. Yeah, she's um, she she she, She's
- 44:13Speaker 1: a unique gal. That's Stacy Dash. We have a picture
- 44:18Speaker 1: we ran into her, right, she was wearing a cowboy hat. Yeah, dude, no,
- 44:22Speaker 1: yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah like the cowboy hat. Yes,
- 44:26Speaker 1: all right, let's let's go off Stacy Dash and um
- 44:30Speaker 1: talk about David Copperfield. I remember it when he did
- 44:34Speaker 1: that was pretty cool. That was very cool. Yeah. And
- 44:37Speaker 1: John Ritter also back on this. I didn't even know
- 44:40Speaker 1: I would have gotten it wrong that John Ritter did
- 44:42Speaker 1: another cameo. This one was was a quick little fantasy
- 44:46Speaker 1: pop that I that I learned from Scrubs Wiki was
- 44:49Speaker 1: done on the set of his show Eight Simple Rules.
- 44:52Speaker 1: So I imagine they just went to his sitcom set
- 44:54Speaker 1: and shot that quick little pop. But I had no
- 44:57Speaker 1: idea I would have totally gotten the tribute wrong that
- 44:59Speaker 1: the John ended up being in more than one episode.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I love the fact that that JD's dad never bought
- 45:05Speaker 1: him a whole bike. He just brought him parts of
- 45:07Speaker 1: the bike and he never had any money, right, and eventually,
- 45:10Speaker 1: you know, JD would have the full bike. He was like,
- 45:13Speaker 1: maybe later we could take the bike bicycle bell around
- 45:16Speaker 1: the block for spin. Yeah, And then I come back
- 45:18Speaker 1: and I go, I never did get that kickstand. But
- 45:21Speaker 1: I want to talk about Coffield because I remember Copperfield
- 45:23Speaker 1: rolled up in like a tour bus, and I thought
- 45:26Speaker 1: that was so baller that, like, you know, the guy.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I don't know why he maybe he doesn't fly. I
- 45:34Speaker 1: assume he's based in Vegas, as a lot of famous
- 45:36Speaker 1: magicians are, and maybe he doesn't fly, or maybe he
- 45:38Speaker 1: did his show and said let's hop on the tour
- 45:41Speaker 1: bus and I'll go to sleep and take me to
- 45:43Speaker 1: take me to Hollywood to do my cameo. But I
- 45:46Speaker 1: just remember that I thought it was cool at the
- 45:48Speaker 1: time that Copperfield rolled up in a big old ball
- 45:50Speaker 1: or tour bus. That's crazy. You risk so much, especially
- 45:54Speaker 1: if you got to be back in Vegas in a
- 45:56Speaker 1: certain amount of time, you know what I mean. It's
- 45:58Speaker 1: pretty cool, man, if you had that, if you had
- 46:00Speaker 1: the kind of money I imagine he has, and you're
- 46:03Speaker 1: and you got to do your show, and you're like, oh,
- 46:04Speaker 1: we gotta go to do that cameo on Scrubs. All right, Jammy,
- 46:07Speaker 1: let's take the bus. I'm gonna go to sleep. We'll
- 46:10Speaker 1: wake up there. Yeah, sure, pretty baller it is. That's
- 46:14Speaker 1: gonna be like you and I and Daniel and Joel
- 46:17Speaker 1: when we're doing our our our tour of fake a
- 46:19Speaker 1: European tour. Are European tour? Yeah? Well a European tour.
- 46:22Speaker 1: I think it's more more realistically gonna happens before the
- 46:26Speaker 1: North American tour because you know, um, on account of
- 46:30Speaker 1: the we're fuckedness. But dude, holy cow, JD gets it right.
- 46:34Speaker 1: JD gets it right in this episode. Yeah, in the
- 46:38Speaker 1: beginning of the episode, JD, it's a big swing and
- 46:43Speaker 1: gets it right and gets lucky necrotizing fasciitis. Have you
- 46:48Speaker 1: ever done that before? Have you ever taken Have you
- 46:51Speaker 1: ever been like, all right, look, I have no idea
- 46:52Speaker 1: what I'm gonna do. I'm just gonna go for broke.
- 46:55Speaker 1: See what happens. Like have you ever swung for the
- 46:57Speaker 1: fences with no clue? Yeah? The ball defenses all the time,
- 47:02Speaker 1: but with no clue, with no preparation. He had an inkling.
- 47:06Speaker 1: He had an inkling. He had a gut reaction because
- 47:08Speaker 1: he had seen this on a TV show about necizing
- 47:11Speaker 1: neckortizing fasciitis, and doctor Cox says, that's fucking the rarest
- 47:14Speaker 1: thing that never happens. Shut up, and he happens to
- 47:17Speaker 1: be right, and so he had an inkling of a clue.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I feel like in life, there's times that I've taken
- 47:24Speaker 1: some big swings and they and they've worked out. I
- 47:26Speaker 1: think that's what Jade's doing. He's taken a big ass swing.
- 47:28Speaker 1: What if it's an ecortizing fasciitis And he guessed, right,
- 47:34Speaker 1: that's ballsy, man. It's a it's an amazing Uh, it's
- 47:38Speaker 1: a you know, I you know, it's a It's not
- 47:41Speaker 1: even a gut feeling. It's just Tim saying it could
- 47:45Speaker 1: be this, and I if I'm right because of the similarities.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Holy shit. And he just happened to be watching that
- 47:52Speaker 1: TV show. I mean, think about it. He saved that
- 47:54Speaker 1: guy's life because he just happened to be watching that show. Yeah, amazing.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Dete Gordon has the line finally in The Sexes, his
- 48:05Speaker 1: pooka shells are intact, are they on his neck. Yeah,
- 48:09Speaker 1: it's a choker like Joel Joel, you know, like Joelle said,
- 48:12Speaker 1: the chokers are fire. He's got like a choker, pooka
- 48:15Speaker 1: shell choker, which I didn't even know was a thing.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Do you want to do you want to ask him
- 48:19Speaker 1: about it? I'm sure we can get Yeah, why don't
- 48:21Speaker 1: we ask Deonte? That's a nice the new segment. Here's
- 48:24Speaker 1: here's a here's a new segment we're gonna try out today, guys,
- 48:27Speaker 1: it's ask Deonte Gordon. Dude, what the heck was up
- 48:32Speaker 1: with the pooka shells? Were they in style back then?
- 48:34Speaker 1: And if so, why did you opt for the choker?
- 48:37Speaker 1: Why not the uh like the the the the twenty
- 48:42Speaker 1: four inch? Yeah, Deonte, we'd like to know. Um, we
- 48:47Speaker 1: don't believe in two thousand and two that puka shells
- 48:50Speaker 1: were in style. Maybe we're wrong? And why are you
- 48:52Speaker 1: wearing them as a choker? We're puka shells in fashion?
- 48:57Speaker 1: You know, in my heart I want to say yes,
- 49:00Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure two thousand and two would be like, no, dude,
- 49:05Speaker 1: it's not, it's not. Yeah, it was a choker. It
- 49:09Speaker 1: was a little tight, a little tight on the neck.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Can't lie. But it was because I got it as
- 49:13Speaker 1: a kid in Hawaii and I had found it in
- 49:17Speaker 1: an old drawer years later, and I put it on
- 49:20Speaker 1: one day and the class got stuck and I had
- 49:24Speaker 1: to go to set, and I decided, you know what,
- 49:27Speaker 1: I'm just gonna rock it because I couldn't think of
- 49:30Speaker 1: anything friendlier than a guy wearing a puka shell necklace.
- 49:34Speaker 1: And Scrubs was coming a big show, so you know,
- 49:37Speaker 1: I want to stand out a little bit. And you
- 49:39Speaker 1: know what's friendlier than the guy in a puka shell necklace.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I couldn't think of anything nothing friendlier. All right, guys,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I love you even when you're clowning. Thank you, Deonte,
- 49:48Speaker 1: Thank you Deonte. That's our new segment, asked Deonte, who
- 49:52Speaker 1: to refresh your memory? Was Donald stand In and also
- 49:55Speaker 1: our friend and cohort on the Scrub set and in
- 49:59Speaker 1: this episode has two lines as and he has a
- 50:01Speaker 1: name we learned Frank Mark. No, I think it's Mark,
- 50:05Speaker 1: and that's why he's pissed at me. His name is Frank.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Got it hey, and that we never knew that Deante
- 50:11Speaker 1: the Orderly's character had a name Frank. I think this
- 50:15Speaker 1: would probably be the last time Deonta's on the show. No,
- 50:18Speaker 1: that's not true. You think we'll have him back again
- 50:20Speaker 1: on the podcast, as as Frank Oh on Scrubs. I'm sure,
- 50:28Speaker 1: I'm sure of it. Um, Alan Ruck is on the show.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Most of you might remember him from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Yes,
- 50:42Speaker 1: when Cameron was in Egypt's land, Let my Cameron, God
- 50:51Speaker 1: says these things. Let my Cameron go. I know that
- 50:55Speaker 1: Cameron's so uptight that if you shove a piece of
- 50:57Speaker 1: coal up his ass in a month, you'd have a diamond.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Is it a month or two weeks? I don't know.
- 51:02Speaker 1: I don't remember. It's on something like that. In two
- 51:04Speaker 1: weeks you have a diamond. That's a very woody joke. Um,
- 51:07Speaker 1: he's a very funny man. He was on Spin City
- 51:11Speaker 1: and this continues the Bill Lawrence tradition of asking cast
- 51:15Speaker 1: members from his old show Spin City to come to cameos.
- 51:19Speaker 1: He had, Heather, we had. We eventually have them all,
- 51:23Speaker 1: most of them, I believe. Um, Richard Kind, I have Yabba,
- 51:31Speaker 1: I have Yeah, Yes, i'd been to the zoo go on. Yes.
- 51:34Speaker 1: He said like this is only you would only get
- 51:36Speaker 1: this disease if you had spent time in some rare
- 51:39Speaker 1: part of Africa amongst amongst these animals, I have been
- 51:43Speaker 1: to the zoo. Go on, I have been to the zoo.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Go on. Richard Kind is very good gopher. I'll bet
- 51:52Speaker 1: you didn't know this trivia George Clooney's best friend. I didn't.
- 51:56Speaker 1: I wonder if he got some of that money for that.
- 51:58Speaker 1: I think he did. Oh no, no, that. But the
- 52:01Speaker 1: you know the famous anecdote where George Clooney gave all
- 52:03Speaker 1: his friends a million bucks. That wasn't after the tequila well,
- 52:07Speaker 1: I think I think. I think it was after he
- 52:09Speaker 1: accidentally stumbled into a billion dollars tequila business. It was
- 52:13Speaker 1: before it was. Imagine you're sitting around with your friends
- 52:16Speaker 1: and you're like, basically, as I understand the Cossa Migos
- 52:19Speaker 1: story is that George and Randy Gerber and a bunch
- 52:21Speaker 1: of I think it was just George and Randy Geber.
- 52:23Speaker 1: They love tequila, and they were like, you know what
- 52:25Speaker 1: we have the means like, no one's making the tequila
- 52:28Speaker 1: exactly like we like it, so let's just make it ourselves.
- 52:31Speaker 1: So they did their research and they contacted the right people,
- 52:33Speaker 1: and they made this tequila that was supposed to be
- 52:35Speaker 1: just for like them and their friends, just like super
- 52:37Speaker 1: bespoke tequila, just with them, and then all of a
- 52:39Speaker 1: sudden it catches on and becomes so big that they
- 52:42Speaker 1: make a billion dollars off Cosa Migos. That's George Clooney
- 52:46Speaker 1: accidentally made a billion dollars. It's my favorite story ever
- 52:50Speaker 1: in the history of you and I. You know, a
- 52:52Speaker 1: lot of famous duos release their own line of booze.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Um Brian Cranston and and Aaron Paul put out one.
- 53:02Speaker 1: What is it? I don't know? Okay, what is it?
- 53:05Speaker 1: Joel Gin or something? I don't know, But why don't
- 53:08Speaker 1: you and I release our own booze? Maybe we could
- 53:12Speaker 1: make some of that cluney billion dollars. Dude, what if
- 53:16Speaker 1: we put out booze? Yeah, that would make me one
- 53:20Speaker 1: of the happiest people on the planet. Let's do it.
- 53:23Speaker 1: What kind of booze should we put out? You can't
- 53:25Speaker 1: do something obvious that's been crushed already, like vodka and tequila.
- 53:29Speaker 1: We can't go near that, I know, because everybody got
- 53:31Speaker 1: a vodka. Everybody's got a vodka. We're not gonna try
- 53:34Speaker 1: and compete with imagine we're like, yeah, it's up there
- 53:37Speaker 1: with sarak O. Sarak is killing it too. That's like,
- 53:41Speaker 1: I think Puffy's made more money off sarok than anything.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know that he. I don't know
- 53:46Speaker 1: how much of Saraki owns oh. I thought I thought
- 53:50Speaker 1: sarak was his. I don't know. I don't know it.
- 53:53Speaker 1: All right, Well, listen, you guys are hearing it first here,
- 53:57Speaker 1: Donald and I are going to develop our own booze.
- 54:00Speaker 1: We all mind because because Aaron Paul and Bran Hanson
- 54:03Speaker 1: they did a mescal Pubsombres do sambres mesical. Okay, we're
- 54:07Speaker 1: gonna Donald, We're gonna do research. What kind of booze?
- 54:10Speaker 1: It have to be something we both like, Well, what
- 54:12Speaker 1: do you like? Wow? I like to kill it? Like vodka?
- 54:17Speaker 1: Do you like like a Moscow mule? Do you like
- 54:19Speaker 1: moscow mules? Yeah? But that's not a liquor, that's I know.
- 54:22Speaker 1: But what if we did like a canned, a pre made,
- 54:26Speaker 1: badass moscow mule called the a Dayo Shoon. I like
- 54:30Speaker 1: the name, and we have the jingle ready to go.
- 54:37Speaker 1: What you're trying to get it into? What you're trying
- 54:43Speaker 1: to get into a day o shoon. Yeah, and then
- 54:46Speaker 1: the commercial it's you taking a big sip of it,
- 54:51Speaker 1: a day oshoon something that's the name of the booze
- 54:55Speaker 1: what you try trying to get into and another person goes, oh,
- 55:01Speaker 1: that's the commercial. No, it's you and I walking up
- 55:04Speaker 1: to people and they're drinking it what you're trying to
- 55:06Speaker 1: get into it, and they go, day oh my god,
- 55:10Speaker 1: I love it. The problem that we spelled it correctly. People, um,
- 55:14Speaker 1: they might not pronounce it. Other people with my name
- 55:17Speaker 1: would be like, it's named after me. I'd you ever
- 55:19Speaker 1: run into another A day of show? So it's it's
- 55:21Speaker 1: a Nigerian name, I know. So is it popular in Nigeria? Yeah,
- 55:27Speaker 1: I'm sure there are people. I think it's a last name,
- 55:29Speaker 1: though I know I'm suddenly going to be confusing when
- 55:32Speaker 1: it's when it's so popular that it's eventually sold in Nigeria.
- 55:35Speaker 1: But let's start small. What you're trying to get into show.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Don't forget to pull a little ruckiss on it. If
- 55:46Speaker 1: you're singing this at home and you don't pull a
- 55:48Speaker 1: little spice on it, you're doing it wrong. Throw some
- 55:51Speaker 1: strowsy on it, as they you're trying to get into
- 55:55Speaker 1: and show. Put a little nasty on it. Sprinkle some
- 56:01Speaker 1: nasty on it. Yeah. The fact that these guys put
- 56:04Speaker 1: rowdy in front of this dude's house fourteen times. Yeah,
- 56:07Speaker 1: what a dick. What dicks? We are a kind of neighbor.
- 56:09Speaker 1: You hate that. But I mean John Michelle his acting
- 56:13Speaker 1: was okay, but when he eventually had to laugh, he
- 56:17Speaker 1: was a little stiff. You know. John Michelle not only
- 56:22Speaker 1: edited the show, he also directed the show. This not
- 56:25Speaker 1: this episode, no eventually direct, but he would eventually direct.
- 56:29Speaker 1: And I remember I remember as an editor, I guess
- 56:33Speaker 1: you want every I guess you want everything you could
- 56:36Speaker 1: possibly get to put it together, because not only would
- 56:39Speaker 1: he direct the episodes, but he would edit them. And
- 56:41Speaker 1: I remember we would do a bunch of takes for
- 56:45Speaker 1: him because he was like, I just wanted if I
- 56:48Speaker 1: could have it this way, great, if I could have
- 56:51Speaker 1: it this way, it's just more things for me to
- 56:52Speaker 1: look at. Its classic editor turn director. And I think
- 56:56Speaker 1: it was his first shot at directing. So yeah, if
- 56:59Speaker 1: you're gonna if you were to build a stereotypical problem
- 57:03Speaker 1: that an editor turning director might have in the beginning
- 57:06Speaker 1: of their career, it would be I need every single angle,
- 57:08Speaker 1: I need every single take I need. But then you
- 57:11Speaker 1: know I'm sure that. But his episode always they always
- 57:14Speaker 1: turned out great, though he always had good episodes. Well,
- 57:17Speaker 1: we were there at all four in the morning getting
- 57:18Speaker 1: every angle. So why is it the pathologists in TV
- 57:22Speaker 1: shows are always eating I don't know pologist. So the
- 57:27Speaker 1: guys who did the autopsies are they always eating a sandwich?
- 57:29Speaker 1: It's a thing, It's a it's a trope. I think.
- 57:31Speaker 1: I think it's because they they're around death so much
- 57:35Speaker 1: that even the smell of it can't interrupt their day.
- 57:39Speaker 1: So like, if it's lunchtime, I could eat lunch around
- 57:44Speaker 1: a dead body because I'm around it all the time. Right.
- 57:47Speaker 1: The point is is that the writer is trying to
- 57:50Speaker 1: show how how used to death and corpses this person is.
- 57:54Speaker 1: They're so used to it, and so it's so they
- 57:58Speaker 1: so don't care about it that they'll eat their sandwich
- 58:00Speaker 1: over the guy's head. But I'm saying it's been done
- 58:05Speaker 1: to death. Yeah, I love Fleebag. There's a scene in
- 58:07Speaker 1: there where they talk about this, right, like they're going
- 58:10Speaker 1: to see the pathologist and she's like, it's I can't remember.
- 58:12Speaker 1: It's the smell of chemicals or something that makes them
- 58:15Speaker 1: like crave meat. There's like a whole scene in Fleabag
- 58:19Speaker 1: about this, and I'm trying to let me try to
- 58:21Speaker 1: find the science on it, because it was the craziest thing. Okay,
- 58:24Speaker 1: but that's interesting, But that's something else. What I'm saying
- 58:26Speaker 1: is that that that the it's as common and ridiculous
- 58:31Speaker 1: in films and TV as like they remove the rear
- 58:34Speaker 1: view mirror in the car so you can have a
- 58:36Speaker 1: better angle and not have a break up the frame,
- 58:39Speaker 1: which is like just a convention that people get used
- 58:41Speaker 1: to but is stupid. Or that all the streets are
- 58:45Speaker 1: always wet at night because it makes the lights look pretty,
- 58:48Speaker 1: But the cars aren't wet and the buildings aren't wet,
- 58:50Speaker 1: just the streets wet. And in line with that, a
- 58:53Speaker 1: pathologist doing an autopsy will usually have a bite of
- 58:57Speaker 1: some food, right, that's you know. And speaking of speaking
- 59:01Speaker 1: of go to jokes, I started to realize a pattern.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Laverne always talk about Jesus, always talking about Jesus. But
- 59:09Speaker 1: it's funny every time. It's funny every time, but it's
- 59:11Speaker 1: always the same setup. Oh don't worry about what I think.
- 59:15Speaker 1: What you're gonna have to worry about what Jesus thinks?
- 59:17Speaker 1: I know, but it's her. What you're talking about, willis.
- 59:19Speaker 1: It's funn it is what. You don't have to explain
- 59:21Speaker 1: yourself to me. But you better get your story straight
- 59:24Speaker 1: when you come. When you come face goes, when you
- 59:27Speaker 1: come face to face with Jesus. Yeah, that's why I
- 59:30Speaker 1: laughed out out of that. Yeah, Kes, she's great, She's great.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Has he that's her, that's her thing. She talks about Jesus.
- 59:39Speaker 1: Ted's office, he has the Plumox mug, which I liked,
- 59:41Speaker 1: just continuing the Plumox runner. I was very happy to
- 59:45Speaker 1: see Sam Lloyd in this episode. When he popped up.
- 59:48Speaker 1: I got very excited about that. I know. All those
- 59:51Speaker 1: scenes in Ted's office were always so funny. And the
- 59:54Speaker 1: one the one with him and Sarah where he's like,
- 59:56Speaker 1: oh my god, you're getting sued. Have you confronted? Have
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: you gone back and spoke to and she goes, well,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: and he goes, oh did you did you threaten him?
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Even and she goes He goes, oh, man, even a
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: good lawyer couldn't win this case. He every scene in
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: that office Uh is so funny. I think we learned
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: for the first time that his last name is Buckland.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I'm assuming that's for one of our favorite directors at
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: the time, Mark Buckland. And well, where else would you
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: get Buckland from? It's not a common name. No, it's
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: not Buckland is not a cun it seems like a
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: common name. You know, Dan, what's your last name? Do
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: you want to ask Dan? What's your last name? Good Man?
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Good Man? Do you not know his last name? It's
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: on the zoom call It's good sounds like do you
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: think it was gonna be Buckland? It sounds like that
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Cox calls me murder? She wrote, which is funny because
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I accidentally killed a patient. Right, um, Oh, I love
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: It's hard. When Kelso says to Uh to Sarah, he goes,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: you had four years of college and four years of
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: med school, so I can safely assume that you were
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: at least eight. He was great in this episode. N
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Jenkins always great. Well, I noticed that you have really
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: baggy cargo pants on. Do you remember when that was
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: the style? And we both used to wear those a lot. Okay,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. This is when I started
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: you know, gaining weight on the show, so were hiding
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: your stomach. Well, I'm not necessarily hiding my stomach, but
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I'm hiding. You know. The clothes started to change for me.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: So now I'm no longer wearing the jeans that they
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: had for me because my waist had grown so much.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: I'm now wearing baggy clothes. So this is one episode
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: where they hadn't gone shop at least that's what I think.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: They hadn't gone shopping for me yesterday, because I remember
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Carrie asking me about wearing the pants he was. She
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: was like, you know, will you wear these instead today
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: or something like that, And it was because my ass
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: was getting bigger, your ass or your belly, my booty.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: So they they had to go shopping to get bigger
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: clothes for you, but they hadn't gone yet, so they say, here,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: how about these baggy sweatpants. Yes, this is around the
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: time where I heard Sarah talking about a fan asking
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: if I was on the Crispy Creme diet. It's funny
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: to you, it's not to me. I'm sorry, it didn't
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: really hurt your feelings. Yeah, it hurt my feelings, Okay,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: it did it hurt your feelings enough that you took
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: action and changed your habits. Yeah. Actually the next season.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: If you notice the next season when we come back,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: I'm a lot skinnier in season three. Now, are you
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: going to progressively get larger throughout this season? Because something
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I'll keep an eye out for. I think your lisp
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: is on. By the way, I think the brand it's gone.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: In this episode we cut them off finally. Um, you
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: know what I believe. So I believe we're gonna go
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: through this season and I will get heavier. This is
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: also around the time where I am about to get
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: a divorce from So maybe that was tied the late
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: game might have been tied to the stress of your divorce.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Perhaps maybe you know it's it's it's brewing at this point.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: At this point, I remember being like, oh man, you know, uh,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: this isn't I'm going. Well, there's something you know you
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: can always meet You always can tell when you meet
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: somebody who's never been divorced or never you know what
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I mean, because the first thing they say is, oh,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. You meet somebody who's been divorced, they're
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: always gonna say you. You'll be like, I'm so sorry
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: and they're be like, no, no, no, I got out
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: of that. It's all good. Don't trip, Well, not always do.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: I think that's that's that's not true for very few times.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: There are very few times. Well, while going through it, yes,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: while going through it, it's very sad because you're remembering
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: all the things that you used to do, and you're
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: remembering you know, and and and and you're moving forward.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: And whenever you're moving forward and things aren't you know,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: like uh they were in the past, it's there's change.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: You know, it's a little uncomfortable for you. But when
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: you're out of it, just so happy to be out
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: of There's a great line in Um in Annie Hall
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: where where Woody Allen says to Diane Keaton, you know,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I think relationships um are like sharks. Um. If you
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: stop moving forward, you die. And I think what we
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: have here is a dead shark. So you had a
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: dead shark. It didn't work out. It didn't work out,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: but guess what. And if you're listening and going through
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: a divorce now Donald ended up with the love of
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: his life. The man has never been happier, never been
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: more in love, and talk about a blessing in disguise.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: It worked out well. You know it's when you're not
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: looking for it that it works out that way. You know, well,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: you were looking for it, that's you hit on her
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: in the club. And she said, then he had like
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: nine keys. Yeah, but I was just trying to beat.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I wasn't trying to day You're just trying to beat?
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: What does that mean? You were trying to You were
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: just trying to have intercourse? Do you remember rum? Do
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: you remember the fact that's trying right now? In fact?
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Because come on, man, you knew exactly what the funk
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I meant. It just was something. It was I said
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: it different and you were like, wait, hold on, all right,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: we have a guest, right, Joel, we never took a break.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Daniel, You're gonna have to put in fake breaks.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: He does it all the time. Let's go to break, guys, Rob.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I got a new intro. Rob. I'm no longer doing Oprah.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I'm now doing I'm now doing Kerma. Give it up
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: for robbing. Bye, Bob bye, it's nice to meet you.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: I'm Zach. That's Donald, that's Daniel, that's Joel. Hello, everyone,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: this is why, thank you? How are welcome? Welcome. I'm
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: doing great. How's that, Boddy? We're great? Where are you
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: calling from, Bubble? I am in northern Virginia outside of Yes,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: when when Titans Virginia? That's right? Circle back to of course,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: well everyone everyone who has everyone who has a Bingo
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: card was like, I can't believe Titans doesn't come up
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: there from card. Well, I want to mention Gardens State too.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: My wife is from New Jersey. I like when we
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: when we met, she told me she was from Jersey,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: and she said, do not say Jersey Shore. I'm from
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: near Gardens State. That's what it looked like, right. Well,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I agree with your wife. A lot of you know,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: when the Jersey short came out, a lot of US
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Jersey ins were like, um, first of all, none of
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: those people are from New Jersey. They were from like
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Staten Island and other places. And and of course there
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: is a sections of the beach in New Jersey where
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: a lot of Jersey Shore type folks congregate, but that
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: is only one section of the beach. And I just
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: thought it was like the worst of press for Jersey.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: And so when I made Garden State, I didn't do
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: it with this intention in mind, but I like your wife.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: I wanted to say to people like, hey, Jersey's actually
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: really beautiful. It's literally called the Garden State. So the
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: other thing that happens is people fly in a Newark airport.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: It's a very big international airport that's in our industrial area.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: So people fly in Newark and they look at all
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: the industry and they're like, oh, fucking Jersey's grows. Meanwhile,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: it's like every fucking state has at in big industrial area.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: How do you think if you put your airport there.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: When I was shooting Emergence, we shot on the shore
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: where you know, all of those things happened, and we
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: shot in the off season. In the winter. That town
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: is dead in the winter. It's not until summer that
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: it goes off. Yeah, it's really interesting actually when it's
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: actually it's the I set my play only people there
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: because I went when you when you go to choose
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: a show, if you're gonna rent a house for the
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: summer in Jersey at the beach. Nowadays, I'm sure it's
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: all online, but back in the day when I was
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: a kid, used to go down there and then the
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: beach would be covered in snow and it's a ghost town.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I mean nobody there. But that's when you'd go, like,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: look at the house that you might rent for the summer,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: and always thought it was really eerie and spooky because
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: there were onely like a handful of people that lived
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: down there, and but it was the beach, and it
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: was just like a ghost town. It looked like a
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: bomb and gone off and there was just no one there.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: And uh and um, so I sat this play that
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: I wrote, I sat like down there in the winter.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: But anyway, sorry, Bob, we digress again. What's your question
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: for us? Sir h I love Scrubs, but both Zach
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: and Donald, you guys have been on the best television
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: show of all time, Sesame Street. Oh yeah, about being
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: on Sesame Street. I got a four year old and
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: a seven year old. Yeah, I loved it. I cut
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: my teeth on Sesame Street. Go ahead. Yeah, you were on.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: You were on when you were a child. I was on,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: not as a child, but so before clueless, before all
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: of those things. I was a New York actor, and
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: in New York, you know, it was for actors at
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: the time. If you weren't living in Los Angeles and
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: you were living in any city that you know, did
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: commercials or had a production in town. It was like
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: it felt like the trenches, you know what I mean.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: So if you're not doing play in New York City,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: if you're not doing plays, you know, you're most likely
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: auditioning for auditioning for commercials. And it felt like at
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: the time, every commercial came out of New York City,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: and you know, there were only you know, there were
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: shows there, like The Cosby Show, was there, NYPD Blue,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: New York Undercover, but there weren't a lot of them,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: and so you would be going up for these local
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: shows against all your friends, people you knew, and it
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: just really felt like you were in the trenches, like
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: you were fighting for one job with thousands and thousands
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: and thousands of people, where As when you come to LA,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: it seems it seems like there was a job. You know,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: the way they talked about LA when you lived in
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: New York was there's a job they grow on trees
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: out in LA. And so Sesame Street was one of
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: those shows that it was like, you know, they're looking
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: for a new character, looking for new characters on Sesame Street,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: and everybody in their mama went out for Sesame Street.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I wound up getting it, uh with Eugene Byrd, who's
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: on He's He's in a bunch of movie. He was
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: in what was then eminem movie eight Mile. He's in
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: He's in eight Mile. He's the one that steals Brittany
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: Murphy from Marshall Mathers in the movie. Anyway, we got,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: we got Sesame Street, and it was he was already
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: on it, and then he had a group of friends
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: that he would bring on to help him, like he
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: was a handyman. And something happened where the other guys
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Eugene left and the other guys I guess Sesame Street
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: didn't like or you know, did something that I don't
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: know what it was, but they kept me around for
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: a bit and I got to, you know, hang out
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: and do I did like something like six or seven
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: episodes of Sesame Street. I grew up with Savion Glover.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I known him since I was a kid, and he
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: was on Sesame Street at the time. So it was
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: just kind of cool to see somebody who was very
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: successful in life was a famous tap dancer. He was
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: already a he was he was already famous. He hadn't
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: done bring the noise, bringing the funk yet, but he
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: had already done like the movie Tap. He had already
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: been huge, and so it was like, holy cow, I'm
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: doing scenes with Savion and it felt, you know, I'm legit.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: You know. I remember when I came out to LA
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: and I had this like big audition and I walked
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: in and it was all of these famous actors like
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Dante Bosco who was in Hook he played Rufio and Hook,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: and you know, like a ship ton of the cast
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: from Saved by the Bell, you know, and other things.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: And I hadn't I didn't have anything on my resume
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: at the time, like you know, Clueless hadn't come out,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and they were all talking about what they had worked on,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: and I was off in the corner and I wanted
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: to be a part of it so bad. I walked
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: in between them all and I was like, yo, well,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: you know, I was on Sesame Street and stuff. And
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I could see in their faces they were like Sesme Street.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: But I was so confident because of you know what
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Sesame Street meant to me growing up, as as it
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: probably will to your four year old. Um. I did
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: it relatively recently. I was on with Telly, I believe,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: and Um, I did a thing about explaining the word
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: anxious to two children, and it's really funny. If you
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: get a chance, go look on YouTube and just put
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: in my name Sesame Street anxious. It comes up. But
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: it's funny. There was a whole bit where we were
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: both worried. Telling and I were both worried about what
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: was in this box, and we were using that as
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: a as a means of trying to describe to kids
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the word anxious. And I'm like, oh, now I'm anxious,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: and Tell He's like, I'm anxious too, and I and
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: then I all of a sudden, I go, what's in
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the box. What's in the bar? That's what's in the box.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I got like a whole seven reference into you and
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Brad Pitt. You and Brad Pitt. I went Brad Pitt seven.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: So now let's talk about this again. I like his work.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: I'm not trying to dock him. Dude, You're totally trying
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: to dock Brad Pitt because I like seven. I'm not
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: trying to dock Brad. You see, this is what I'm
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: talking about. I said, I like Leo, and I'm trying
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: to dock Leo. You like brad if I like Leo
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: and I'm trying to dock, if that's what that's all right,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: neither one of us, neither one of us are trying
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: to dock. Okay, clear to love. I do love the
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: movie seven a lot. That's not all you love? You
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: love five Club. Yeah, well Bride's a great actor. Yeah,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: so's Leo. Oh my god, Bob, thank you. Do you
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: have another question? Yeah, I'm a I'm a seventh grade
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: teacher here in Virginia. Cool, and I just wanted to
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: know if you guys had a story about your favorite teacher.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: We love, we love hearing from my students, and you know,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: we love when they reach out to us. I don't
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: always remember him. I got a lot of students come
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: through my classroom, but I love it when they when
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: they contact us. So I wonder if you guys had
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: a how do they impact you? What? What? So many?
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: So many? I have so many too. But there's one
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: teacher that I had that was so awesome and his
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: name was mister Hurton. He was a history teacher, as
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: am I and uh and you know I had him
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: in high school my senior year, and I thought we
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: had like a vibe like because I was a good student.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: I you know, history was a lot of fun for me.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: I'd liked to study history, and you know, he was
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: one of those cats that you know, when Black History
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Month came around, we could talk about we would talk
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: about black history for the whole month, you know what
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: I mean. And he was an awesome history teacher. I
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: never did homework in the class though, you know what
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I mean, Like I would always do I would always
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: ace my tests, like literally get nineties on tests, a
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: hundreds on tests. But I never did homework. It's my
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: senior year, and I'm thinking, well, I'm gonna definitely I'm
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: gonna I don't need to worry about history because that's
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: my favorite subject and I'm crushing it in history. I
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: remember having to go to other teachers and be like
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: and beg for just a sixty so I could graduate. Right,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: I didn't worry about history. I passed every class in
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: my senior year. Now, granted, I had messed around throughout
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: high school. I had gotten left back, I went to
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: summer school, and then you know, in my junior year,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: I went to summer school so I could graduate on time.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I had done all of these things to make it
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: so that I graduated when I was supposed to graduate,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: and begged all my teachers to give me. Look, I
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: know I'm not passing. I know I got like a
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: fifty nine right now, But if you could just figure
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: out a way to just turn my fifty nine into
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: a sixty, help a brother out the one class that
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I didn't worry about. Mister Hurt gives me a fifty
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: nine instead of a sixty, and I had to go
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: to summer school to get my diploma. He taught you
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: a lesson, though he did teach me a lesson. And
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: then so one day he hits me up on Facebook like, Donald,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I'm so proud of you. I want to be honest
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: with you. I always knew you'd you'd you'd be where
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: you are today. You had such charisma in high school
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: whatever it is now. I went to a high school
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: with a bunch of actors and entertainers and other everything,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: and so it meant a lot for me to hear that.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: But then I remembered, motherfucker, you're the one that gave
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: me a fifty nine instead of a sexty and I
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: had to go to summer school. And I remember telling
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: him that he was like I did that. He was like, ah, whatever, man,
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: but I'm so proud of you. So missen to hurt
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: my favorite teacher all time. Well, I just want to
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: say there's a lot, Bob. I have a lot of
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: fond memories of certain teachers. And there was a TV
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: teacher at my high school that really got me into
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: like working, and we had like a little TV station
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: and I love that. And mister Mullen, he was so
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: supportive of my I'd make these little short films and
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: I think he could really tell that I was passionate
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: about it. And I remember earlier there was an English teacher,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: Miss Petrolia, who for the first time, was introducing us
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: to poetry and I really really responded to. At the time,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: we thought, oh, we have to memorize these Robert Frost
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: poems and stuff, and I remember thinking like, this is
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: so stupid. But I grew to really love poetry and
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: ultimately in college got into Shakespeare and so um. I
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: have a lot of fond memories of teachers. And so
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: I'm sure other students have told you this before, but
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: you guys make such a difference in people's lives, particularly
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: if you're a good teacher, because you know, some of
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: us have memories of teachers that weren't weren't weren't effective,
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: or or we felt were condescending. But the ones I
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: really remember are ones that that were just so pure
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: and honest about it. They really were excited about what
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: they were teaching and that and that landed in us.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: That was transferred because we I mean this, this woman,
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Miss Petrolea, got me excited about poetry. She got me
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: excited about reading literature, and her passion came through. You know, dude,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I totally understand what you're saying when you say stuff
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: like that. Like I had one teacher and he was
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: just my guidance counselor you know, I knew in high
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: school that I didn't want to go to college and
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: I wanted to go to I wanted to move to
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Los Angeles immediately after high school and become an actor.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: And he was like, dude, you got to apply for
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: colleges and stuff. And I was like, I'm not gonna
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: do it. He was like, all right, fine, whatever, and
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: I got in. I went in. I auditioned for Rutgers University.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: My mom went to Rutgers University, and I got in
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: and he was so excited for me, and he sat
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: me down. He was like, dude, I don't know how
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: you like literally, this is what he said to me.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: I don't know how you did it. But he got
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: into Rutgers. Man, you did it. You got into Rutgers.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: And I remember looking at him and saying, yeah, you know,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: I'm in colleges. Isn't for me. I'm not going to
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: go to college. I'm I'm gonna give this acting thing
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: a shot. And I could see the disappointment in his face,
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: like you're thrown away your future, kid, And it always
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: it always sticks with me. That always sticks with me
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: that he cared so much about what was gonna happen
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: to me after I left that school. He wasn't like, listen,
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I get that you I get that you want he was.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: He was like, I get that you want to be famous.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: I get all of that, But dude, you have a
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: you have a shot that Rutgers is a very good school.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: You know what I mean? This is something that a
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: lot of people would kill for, and somehow you convinced
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: them that you're Rutgers material. I can't believe you're not
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: going to do it. And that's always stuck with me,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: like he cared so much about my future that he
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: was willing to protest pretty much. You know, I think
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: you're doing the wrong thing. This isn't you're You're making
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: a mistake. Regardless of where I'm at now and regardless
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: of my belief in myself, I'd still look back at
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: him and like and think, I think very highly of
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: mister Napp as well. We'll also can think about it.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: The odds of someone making it is so slim that
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: he you know, he is an actor. It's the it's
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: it's it is a bit of a lottery. And so
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: he was just looking out for you and being like,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: oh I like this kid. I don't know if he's
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: gonna as an actor. Yeah, yeah, Well, Bob, thank you
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: so much. Thank you for coming on, thank you for
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: being a teacher, and thank you for making a difference
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: in in young people's lives. Uh, stay safe, all right,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: safe bye bye bye. Thank you. All right, Donald, Um,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: we went along today, but you know what, we had
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: a lot to say and we had a really cool
