- 0:03Speaker 1: Hey, AJ, what's the hardest thing to do in sports?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Hit a baseball?
- 0:10Speaker 1: That's right. So this is where the respect factor comes in.
- 0:14Speaker 1: What you had a different answer?
- 0:15Speaker 3: Cred save a hockey puck, SA, save a slap shot
- 0:18Speaker 3: as a goalie.
- 0:19Speaker 4: No incorrect cornerback in the NFL.
- 0:23Speaker 1: No, No, hit a baseball from a major leaguer. So
- 0:30Speaker 1: the reason I bring this up is the respect factor
- 0:34Speaker 1: for what you guys did. But then for someone like
- 0:37Speaker 1: Trey Mantini at thirty four years old to not be
- 0:40Speaker 1: in the bigs for three years, it seemed like he
- 0:43Speaker 1: was going to be done. He was talked back into it,
- 0:46Speaker 1: and after over a thousand days away from major league baseball,
- 0:51Speaker 1: last ab July thirty first, twenty twenty three, he's back
- 0:55Speaker 1: on a field for the Angels. First a B in
- 0:58Speaker 1: the second RBI knocked through the side. Good dude, cool moment. Krats.
- 1:05Speaker 1: We've gone through your story and many other stories that
- 1:08Speaker 1: you've come across through your you know, minor league and
- 1:11Speaker 1: major league days. Do you get a little bit of
- 1:14Speaker 1: the goosebumps or the heartstrings tugging at you when you
- 1:18Speaker 1: see this stuff.
- 1:19Speaker 3: There's there's an extra for Trey man seeing with all
- 1:21Speaker 3: the health stuff that he went through, the fact that
- 1:24Speaker 3: you know, we had him on in spring training and
- 1:26Speaker 3: he was talking about how it was. I don't know,
- 1:28Speaker 3: maybe I won't. Then convinced me, okay, I'll try it.
- 1:31Speaker 3: He just seems like he's in a great place, and
- 1:33Speaker 3: you have to be in a great place to go
- 1:35Speaker 3: down to the bushes to rehash your career and to
- 1:38Speaker 3: get back and go three for four.
- 1:41Speaker 4: That's pretty good, really good.
- 1:45Speaker 1: It's cool.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's a great story.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It is. So he's back. We'll watch him. I would
- 1:53Speaker 1: say the fireworks though from last night that stole the show.
- 1:57Speaker 1: We're in Vegas, let's charge about the heck was that? Okay?
- 2:06Speaker 1: This I want to do this though extras Brewers take
- 2:11Speaker 1: down the A's first game in Nevada in the major leagues,
- 2:14Speaker 1: not an exhibition, major league regular season game in thirty years.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Eleven homers, thirty four hits, just madness. Okay, we saw
- 2:23Speaker 1: Homer first pitch for the A's against Kyle Harrison. We're
- 2:27Speaker 1: going to talk about Kyle Harrison cy young bid and
- 2:30Speaker 1: how we're going to have to keep alluding to this
- 2:32Speaker 1: little Vegas game that he participated in. But I want
- 2:35Speaker 1: to start big, big picture here. AJ. Do you think
- 2:38Speaker 1: a game like this is good for the game or
- 2:41Speaker 1: bad for the game? Entertaining or not. There was good
- 2:43Speaker 1: debate online. Some people were like, it's fine, it's June,
- 2:46Speaker 1: let's do this. It's a more gimmicky game. But it
- 2:49Speaker 1: was cool and the conditions were wilds your thoughts.
- 2:53Speaker 5: I have no problem with it, honestly, I don't think
- 2:55Speaker 5: it's Uh Listen, the A's are trying to drum up
- 2:59Speaker 5: any support, any fandom they can in Las Vegas, so
- 3:02Speaker 5: to do this game was fine. I think they have
- 3:04Speaker 5: six games they play, the Brewers and the Rockies, I believe,
- 3:07Speaker 5: so they're trying to draw up, drum up interest. They're
- 3:09Speaker 5: trying to drum up fans.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I thought it was cool.
- 3:13Speaker 5: If you're if you're certain guys, Brent Rooker is one
- 3:16Speaker 5: of them that didn't get any hits, you probably didn't
- 3:17Speaker 5: think it was that great. But I think people that
- 3:19Speaker 5: are saying, oh, this is what it's going to be
- 3:21Speaker 5: like when they.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Build their new ballpark.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Now, well, the new ballpark is going to be inside,
- 3:25Speaker 5: it's going to be climate controlled, it's going to be
- 3:26Speaker 5: a little different. But hey, I remember playing in Vegas
- 3:30Speaker 5: and triple A. The wind was either blown straight out
- 3:32Speaker 5: or straight in. If it was blown out, you hit
- 3:33Speaker 5: a pop up, it was a homer. It was blown
- 3:35Speaker 5: straight in, nobody could hit one out.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So maybe the wind was blowing out.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I don't know, but yeah, the ball flies in Las
- 3:41Speaker 5: Vegas if you haven't been there, especially in the summertime.
- 3:44Speaker 2: But I think indoors is gonna be a little different.
- 3:46Speaker 2: And all the people, you know.
- 3:47Speaker 5: The A's are saying the ballpark this is and that
- 3:50Speaker 5: they's been playing in a minor league ballpark for over
- 3:52Speaker 5: a year now, so the A's fans should be used
- 3:53Speaker 5: to it at this point.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I mean, they used to have that for a few years.
- 3:57Speaker 3: They did that home run derby out at the Vegas
- 4:00Speaker 3: Stadium that you played at age. This is a new
- 4:03Speaker 3: stadium and they the ball, the ball was jumping. I
- 4:09Speaker 3: think the other part too, is the human door. You know,
- 4:12Speaker 3: they'll have it. They'll have it acclimated to make it
- 4:15Speaker 3: more similar to other parks. They'll have it acclimated to
- 4:20Speaker 3: that too, So I don't think that's the case. Like, look,
- 4:23Speaker 3: I guess if you're going to have a new place,
- 4:26Speaker 3: this is major League Baseball needing to make sure that
- 4:29Speaker 3: fans in Las Vegas actually care about baseball.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Now, is this game going.
- 4:34Speaker 3: To be like WHOA, I'm going out and buying tons
- 4:37Speaker 3: of Las Vegas whatever we're gonna be because they most
- 4:41Speaker 3: likely won't be the A's So I don't think so.
- 4:44Speaker 3: But I think it drums it up. It brings Okay,
- 4:47Speaker 3: we got big leaders coming to Vegas. Guys, can our
- 4:50Speaker 3: fans can see what it looks like.
- 4:51Speaker 4: But I did not. I think if it would have
- 4:54Speaker 4: been more.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Like a eleven ten game, maybe it could have like
- 4:58Speaker 3: drummed up some excitement. But but if you're if you're like, oh,
- 5:01Speaker 3: we're gonna see a four hour game with sixteen challenges
- 5:04Speaker 3: and eleven homers, I don't know if I'm there for that.
- 5:07Speaker 4: But man, those balls were crunched.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's cool if it's a novelty, right, If you don't
- 5:15Speaker 1: get this often, it's cool. If it's all the time,
- 5:17Speaker 1: then it starts to be come Le's interesting. But because
- 5:22Speaker 1: we get this in one night where there weren't a
- 5:24Speaker 1: lot of games, there's an NBA Finals game going up
- 5:27Speaker 1: against it, and stood out. People start looking on social media,
- 5:31Speaker 1: Hey you got to turn on this this Brewers a's game.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So a lot of people were having fun with it.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Some people were annoyed, you know, because if you're a
- 5:39Speaker 1: purest aj the stats do pop off the page. But
- 5:44Speaker 1: what about Kyle Harrison. Do you think he's a little pissed.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but you gotta pitcher. We're gonna pitch.
- 5:49Speaker 5: I mean, Sacramento's not that much better, so you pitch
- 5:52Speaker 5: where you pitch. The other guy had to pitch there too.
- 5:54Speaker 5: I mean, just bad luck, I guess, but I mean
- 5:57Speaker 5: you got to pitch in Colorado. Sometimes you gotta pitch
- 6:00Speaker 5: in Sacramento.
- 6:01Speaker 2: You gotta pick. There's different places where the ball flies.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I mean, Milwaukee used to be.
- 6:04Speaker 5: A place where the ball is considered a hitter's part forever.
- 6:07Speaker 5: So I don't think you can get mad about it.
- 6:10Speaker 5: It's just stuff happens. It's just a bad night for him.
- 6:13Speaker 5: And what happens if he goes out and goes six
- 6:14Speaker 5: shutting and no one's talking about it. So it was
- 6:17Speaker 5: a bad night. But you know what, the biggest thing
- 6:19Speaker 5: for Kyle Rison his team won. So at the end
- 6:21Speaker 5: of the day, you can't really get mad about that.
- 6:24Speaker 3: And we have those games in Guadalajara too, or maybe no,
- 6:28Speaker 3: Mexico City. I'm sorry it wasn't Guadalahara, but Mexico City.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I remember the I think Stroman had had a clunker
- 6:35Speaker 3: the one year he was having a great year when
- 6:37Speaker 3: they went.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Over to.
- 6:39Speaker 3: England somewhere where they have it's the issue of Major
- 6:45Speaker 3: League Baseball. Yeah, I think a JA you might have
- 6:47Speaker 3: been there, but like major League Baseball can't. They don't
- 6:53Speaker 3: know what a stadium is going to play like until
- 6:54Speaker 3: they get there. But then there's also other things that
- 6:57Speaker 3: were used to do in the game with the human door,
- 6:59Speaker 3: be able to make the baseballs for that specific city
- 7:04Speaker 3: play a little bit different, and that's why you see
- 7:06Speaker 3: these like major lopsided games. You just don't know how
- 7:10Speaker 3: the stadium is gonna play.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Let's do this. We were just talking about the game
- 7:16Speaker 1: in Vegas, which you can find on sekik if you
- 7:19Speaker 1: want to grab a ticket. It's Gasser against Gin tonight.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Gin's been really good for the EA's He's got a
- 7:25Speaker 1: two seven to four R watch out watch out hi
- 7:29Speaker 1: EO Race tonight. But educase in the code. Yeah, id
- 7:34Speaker 1: your tickets using the code territory ten for ten percent
- 7:37Speaker 1: off of those tickets. Onzek any other games, you guys
- 7:40Speaker 1: have an eye on this evening or series that you're liking.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I mean, for UAG, I'm sure you're keeping an eye
- 7:46Speaker 1: on the Braves in the White Sox. White Sox, I
- 7:48Speaker 1: think have a tougher schedule here for the rest of
- 7:50Speaker 1: the month, right.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Yeah, And they just called up Brave Montgomery, one of
- 7:53Speaker 5: their big prospects, to make his debut, so yeah, that's
- 7:56Speaker 5: a that's a big one.
- 7:57Speaker 2: They lost too out of three to the Phillies. Let's
- 8:00Speaker 2: see how they do.
- 8:01Speaker 5: They do have a tougher schedule coming up, but Skens
- 8:04Speaker 5: is pitching against the Dodgers, so that's always that's always
- 8:07Speaker 5: something to see. And and Dylan see speaking his return
- 8:10Speaker 5: or probably the big ones for.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Me, Yeah, he's against Wheeler in Philly or No in Toronto.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and for me it's the Yankees in Cleveland. I
- 8:20Speaker 3: don't like when teams go somewhere, go home, and then
- 8:25Speaker 3: play the exact same team right away.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Again.
- 8:27Speaker 3: I don't like that because you're seeing the exact same
- 8:30Speaker 3: team pretty much the exact same part of the season.
- 8:32Speaker 3: I want to see teams, especially ald Division, play each
- 8:36Speaker 3: other a little bit farther apart. And I think the
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yankees got they got outmatched in that last series, and
- 8:42Speaker 3: I think I want to see Garrett's bounce back, and
- 8:45Speaker 3: I want to see how the Yankees bounce back.
- 8:47Speaker 1: M and one more I'll throw out there. If you're
- 8:49Speaker 1: in San Diego, it's always a hot ticket, so getting
- 8:52Speaker 1: ten percent off is meaningful. Chase Burns matching up against
- 8:55Speaker 1: the Padres and Lucas Giulito, sign me up for that.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I'm I'm really enjoying watching Chase Burns so far this season.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And also keep in mind, I mean at some point
- 9:04Speaker 1: later in the year they might have to endingscap him
- 9:06Speaker 1: a little bit. He's a young pup, so enjoy it
- 9:09Speaker 1: right now, I know, but it's part of the.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Game with the Reds are not playing good baseball.
- 9:14Speaker 1: No they're not.
- 9:15Speaker 2: They're not playing good.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Hunter Green is expected back before the All Star break.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He is needed. Elie da is missing in action right
- 9:24Speaker 1: now for them. He is needed. You're right, Hunter Green
- 9:26Speaker 1: cannot hit, Elie Dala Cruz can hit. It would be
- 9:29Speaker 1: nice to have him, and they need more outfield bats,
- 9:31Speaker 1: some help in that department at the trade deadline. Can't
- 9:34Speaker 1: just be JJ Blade out there. Okay, here's the code
- 9:36Speaker 1: for you. You can use it for any MLB tickets
- 9:40Speaker 1: ten percent off next set of tickets at TEK Territory
- 9:44Speaker 1: one zero. Make sure you click the link in the
- 9:46Speaker 1: description to download the app and have the code automatically
- 9:48Speaker 1: added to your account so you can use it later.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I mean, listen, people complain.
- 9:52Speaker 5: I know people that went to Mexico City this year,
- 9:54Speaker 5: they were complaining about the stadium and how hard it
- 9:56Speaker 5: was to pitch, and you know, the teams that went
- 9:58Speaker 5: there and saying, wow, we went already and it was
- 10:01Speaker 5: tough to go there. So yeah, I mean, if you
- 10:04Speaker 5: have a great outing, no one cares. I mean, we
- 10:05Speaker 5: played in Puerto Rico one year. Guys are hitting homers
- 10:08Speaker 5: and it was great, right if you were one of
- 10:10Speaker 5: the guys that hit a home run, But then there
- 10:11Speaker 5: was other guys that didn't do anything, like oh he
- 10:13Speaker 5: had to go all the way to Puerto Rico, So
- 10:15Speaker 5: you know, we had to play in Fort Bragg one year.
- 10:18Speaker 5: You know, these these games are cool for the breaks
- 10:20Speaker 5: up to Monotoni this season, but if you have a
- 10:22Speaker 5: good game, you remember, and if you have a bad game,
- 10:24Speaker 5: you want to forget it as quick as possible. It's
- 10:26Speaker 5: one game for Kyle Ierson. If this one game cost
- 10:29Speaker 5: him to cy young, then you know what, Sorry, Kyle,
- 10:32Speaker 5: but that means you still had a great year because
- 10:34Speaker 5: you're in the conversation.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And people will remember it. If he's that close to
- 10:39Speaker 1: that's my thing. If he's that close, like let's say
- 10:41Speaker 1: he makes thirty something starts and he ends up with
- 10:45Speaker 1: a low two ZRA and he's going up against somebody
- 10:48Speaker 1: who's in a similar boat, They'll they'll remember that, you
- 10:52Speaker 1: don't think so. I think they'll remember that because it'll
- 10:54Speaker 1: be in the conversation the whole year.
- 10:55Speaker 2: It'll be probably like, it'll definitely be brought up.
- 10:58Speaker 5: I mean, Vasselo and the rest of the Brewers PR
- 11:00Speaker 5: team will make sure that it's brought up. If you
- 11:02Speaker 5: take away the one start he had this but you know,
- 11:04Speaker 5: I'm sure everybody usually has one clunker during the year,
- 11:07Speaker 5: and if you take that one clunker away, it makes
- 11:09Speaker 5: everyone's stats expeter At some point. Let's say Christopher Sanchez
- 11:12Speaker 5: having a great year, He's going to have a bad
- 11:13Speaker 5: start at some point. If you're a Phillies fan, you
- 11:16Speaker 5: hope not Otani's going to have a clunker or he
- 11:19Speaker 5: gives up some runs at some point Skeens has had
- 11:21Speaker 5: a couple already that where they weren't great for him, right, So,
- 11:26Speaker 5: I mean, if you're a starter, though, you have enough
- 11:28Speaker 5: innings built up to where you can make up for it.
- 11:30Speaker 5: If you're a reliever and you have a stouting like this,
- 11:32Speaker 5: it takes you all year to make up for it.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true, Skeens. Skeens had you know, one or
- 11:38Speaker 1: two already. One early on, of course, in the beginning
- 11:41Speaker 1: of the season, on opening Day against the Mets, which
- 11:44Speaker 1: had some bad defense behind him, but still he had
- 11:46Speaker 1: some walks in that one. And then I'm trying to
- 11:48Speaker 1: look back quickly on Sanchez because I remember one or
- 11:51Speaker 1: two clunkers for him already. Let's see April twenty third
- 11:55Speaker 1: at Chicago, six runs, all earned, five and a third
- 11:59Speaker 1: twelve hit gave up. Yeah, so, I mean that was
- 12:03Speaker 1: the real clunker. It happens, It's gonna happen to people.
- 12:06Speaker 1: It's not that different, you're right, adraight, like that clunker
- 12:08Speaker 1: from Sanchez in Chicago, And I don't remember that game specifically.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Maybe there was some wind action going on too. It's
- 12:16Speaker 1: not that different from six earned runs into and a
- 12:19Speaker 1: third for Kyle Harrison here, So there it is. There's
- 12:23Speaker 1: one of your clunkers.
- 12:24Speaker 2: It happens.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I thought it was fun. See for me, Yeah, I
- 12:30Speaker 1: don't want this all the time, but they're gonna do
- 12:32Speaker 1: what six of these in a row here this week
- 12:35Speaker 1: on a home stand, and for me, it'll be a
- 12:38Speaker 1: game that I watch a little more closely tonight because
- 12:41Speaker 1: I just want to see if the balls fly like that,
- 12:44Speaker 1: if players adjust, if pitch. I mean, there's only so
- 12:46Speaker 1: much adjusting you can do, of course, especially as a pitcher,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but I mean if you're a hitter, guys, you know
- 12:54Speaker 1: that if you send a fly ball that's almost like
- 12:56Speaker 1: sack fly territory medium to deep right and right field,
- 13:01Speaker 1: say that thing could leave, just like Jonah him like
- 13:04Speaker 1: that was a flyball in every other ballpark, in every
- 13:07Speaker 1: other scenario besides this one with wind going out one
- 13:10Speaker 1: hundred degrees elevated in Vegas, humidor issues, the whole thing.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Yeah, Sacramento those the same way. Talk to people that
- 13:19Speaker 5: had played a Sacramento they say left field is the
- 13:21Speaker 5: exact same way, and right field to an extent. But
- 13:24Speaker 5: they were talking about how if you just hit a
- 13:25Speaker 5: pop up the left the wind blows out and it
- 13:27Speaker 5: goes out all the time.
- 13:27Speaker 2: So of course field forever, that was the game.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Changer, right, So I you deal with it as a player.
- 13:33Speaker 2: You deal with it, You get through the games, and
- 13:35Speaker 2: you move on. That's it.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Can you swing like? Can you I don't want to
- 13:40Speaker 1: say swing differently? Can you game plan differently? Like? I
- 13:43Speaker 1: got to lift a ball in the air, and in
- 13:45Speaker 1: many cases this would not be the way to do
- 13:48Speaker 1: it in an ab because this is probably a fly
- 13:50Speaker 1: ball out. But if I try and swing a certain
- 13:54Speaker 1: way on a pitch, it might leave where it doesn't
- 13:57Speaker 1: usually leave. Can you do any of that?
- 14:02Speaker 4: Hitting wise?
- 14:03Speaker 3: Hitting wise, you could you could look you could look
- 14:05Speaker 3: to you know, maybe hit a fly ball, I mean,
- 14:10Speaker 3: maybe contact a little farther out front. I think you
- 14:14Speaker 3: still have to You still have to work against the pitcher.
- 14:16Speaker 3: You still have to get a good pitch to hit.
- 14:18Speaker 3: You still have to be able to understand the situation.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I think the biggest game plan change is pitching.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Guys.
- 14:25Speaker 3: We cannot go for the strikeouts if if your stuff
- 14:29Speaker 3: isn't working the same, we cannot go for the strikers.
- 14:31Speaker 3: We cannot get to account where they're behind in the
- 14:35Speaker 3: strike in the count and say, oh, well, now we
- 14:38Speaker 3: got to you know, we got to give in or
- 14:40Speaker 3: we walk a guy and give them free runs. You're
- 14:42Speaker 3: gonna give up homers if it's gonna be blown out again.
- 14:46Speaker 4: So you got to work.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Down in the zone and you got to attack and say,
- 14:50Speaker 3: you know what, solo home runs don't kill you.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to be excited to see if you
- 14:58Speaker 1: guys picked that game over the new few days.
- 15:01Speaker 5: Well over under today when wait over under is thirteen today,
- 15:04Speaker 5: So I mean it's a big number already.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I don't know if I can take that. You'll see
- 15:09Speaker 2: my luck.
- 15:10Speaker 5: I thought about it, but thirteen is still especially when
- 15:13Speaker 5: teams score that many runs they play extra innings, you're
- 15:15Speaker 5: thinking like they might have used them all up.
- 15:17Speaker 2: But we'll see. There's a trend maybe.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Tomorrow twenty nine runs, so we'll see. And so lastly,
- 15:25Speaker 1: all in all, like we have no problem. We like
- 15:27Speaker 1: this right A week of this in Vegas conditions they're

- 16:46Speaker 1: dub for the Mariners on Monday Night thanks to Josh
- 16:49Speaker 1: Naylor All smiles, Grand Slam, tough pitch to hit too.
- 16:53Speaker 1: That was up and any turned on it. You know,
- 16:56Speaker 1: for all his fun and antics, he's a good hitter
- 17:00Speaker 1: a j That was a huge pickup for them last offseason.
- 17:03Speaker 1: He probably doesn't sign with the Mariners if he wasn't
- 17:05Speaker 1: traded over there to Seattle and fell in love with
- 17:07Speaker 1: the team during the season last year.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Did he throw his sliding minutet the catcher when he
- 17:12Speaker 5: crossed home plate to make sure he would score.
- 17:14Speaker 1: That's a signature signature, So you.
- 17:16Speaker 5: Should start doing that. He should just keep in his
- 17:18Speaker 5: back pocket. Every time he hits a home run, he
- 17:20Speaker 5: should throw it at the catcher to make sure he
- 17:21Speaker 5: doesn't tag.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Everybody should do it. Everybody should have two of them,
- 17:27Speaker 3: two sliding mints. Just you're running down the line, start
- 17:31Speaker 3: launching them like like ninja stars at the balls.
- 17:35Speaker 4: It's getting thrown there.
- 17:36Speaker 3: What I was what, I'm definitely able to do this.
- 17:42Speaker 3: He's trying to throw a mitt at anybody. It's so
- 17:45Speaker 3: hard to run home in a straight line, like throwing
- 17:48Speaker 3: a mit perfectly and getting in the way. Sorry, I
- 17:52Speaker 3: agree with you yesterday.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yeah, we did go over this yesterday and we only
- 17:57Speaker 1: have a minute here, but it does appear as if
- 17:59Speaker 1: the Tigers felt he was doing it on purpose.
- 18:04Speaker 4: They hit him through it, They threw it.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Tider Montero did not, did not. He wasn't like, oh,
- 18:12Speaker 3: it's slipped. He was like, yeah, I hit you. And
- 18:15Speaker 3: what Fraanburgh was laughing at him in the dugout. Yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 3: Douger's got a lot more to worry about than than that.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Agreed, Yeah, that's what he said.
- 18:30Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 18:33Speaker 4: That's what he said.
- 18:34Speaker 1: That's what he said. Let's do some manager quotes for
- 18:39Speaker 1: that's what he said. We'll talk about Tony Vaitello and
- 18:43Speaker 1: his closer situation, but we'll start with Kurt Suzuki's closer situation.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Chase Silseth is having a dynamite year out of the
- 18:51Speaker 1: bullpen for the Angels. He was used in a blowout
- 18:54Speaker 1: game a couple of days ago. Last night, the Angels
- 18:59Speaker 1: lost a tough one blown save. They had a lead
- 19:02Speaker 1: in the ninth, the Astros come back. They end up
- 19:04Speaker 1: winning in extras. They got to Kirby Yates, Sam Blum
- 19:09Speaker 1: does the hard stuff when he covers the team. He's
- 19:13Speaker 1: not every day on the team anymore, and you can
- 19:14Speaker 1: hear him often on our Halo Territory show, but he'll
- 19:17Speaker 1: show up, he'll ask whatever. He is fearless. So let's
- 19:21Speaker 1: go to the tweet from Sam Blum here to tee
- 19:24Speaker 1: up the situation. Sam said, I asked Kurt Suzuki, the manager,
- 19:28Speaker 1: why he used Kirby Yates as the closer given his
- 19:30Speaker 1: performance this year, and he said that Suzuki confirmed to
- 19:34Speaker 1: Chase Silseth was unavailable after pitching in a seven run
- 19:38Speaker 1: game the day before. Quote from Kurt, We're going to
- 19:41Speaker 1: give him the chance to close. We signed him to
- 19:43Speaker 1: be our closer, and we're going to give him a
- 19:44Speaker 1: chance to close. We did feel like his stuff was
- 19:47Speaker 1: ticking up, and he's been doing really well this year
- 19:48Speaker 1: against right handers. Just didn't get it done tonight. So
- 19:52Speaker 1: there's some frustration, clearly aj from Angels fans in terms
- 19:56Speaker 1: of the usage here. It's not gonna matter. They're not
- 19:58Speaker 1: going to miss the playoff by a game, but they
- 20:00Speaker 1: just want to see the process play out like many
- 20:02Speaker 1: other teams do it.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Okay, Well, I don't know why I don't follow the
- 20:08Speaker 5: Angels that closely because they're so far out of the race.
- 20:10Speaker 5: But why did Silsa the v semi stegregor A pitching
- 20:13Speaker 5: a blowout? That would be my next question if he's
- 20:16Speaker 5: your so called closer, and then listen. Kirby Ah has
- 20:19Speaker 5: had a nice career and he's had a nice run
- 20:20Speaker 5: of closing games out when he's healthy, so I don't listen.
- 20:24Speaker 5: I don't have a problem with him being the choice
- 20:28Speaker 5: given the bullpen situation.
- 20:30Speaker 2: He blew it. Stuff happens.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I mean, the greatest closers on Earth, they're blown, asked
- 20:33Speaker 5: Mario Rivera two thousand and one Game seven when he
- 20:36Speaker 5: blew it, right, I mean they've all everyone's blown a safe.
- 20:39Speaker 5: So I get why Sam Blum asked the question, But
- 20:41Speaker 5: I think the more interesting question is why did Silsa
- 20:44Speaker 5: pitchman in a seven run game?
- 20:46Speaker 3: And it was back to back night, like he pitched
- 20:48Speaker 3: the night before and they're won, nothing lost, so they
- 20:50Speaker 3: used them in a close game.
- 20:52Speaker 4: It's tough. It's tough when you have games or teams
- 20:55Speaker 4: like this.
- 20:55Speaker 3: It's like when you're close in a game, you're like,
- 20:58Speaker 3: we gotta throw our best pitchers to keep this game close.
- 21:00Speaker 3: This could be the one that we're gonna win, and
- 21:01Speaker 3: then you get hamstrung. I don't know what happened in
- 21:04Speaker 3: the seven run game, but honestly, when you look down there,
- 21:07Speaker 3: and this is going to go against analytics, the ninth
- 21:11Speaker 3: inning is different. When I look down at the sheet
- 21:14Speaker 3: and I go, who do I have down there, I'm
- 21:16Speaker 3: gonna say, Okay, I got Kirby Yates. If since that's
- 21:20Speaker 3: not there, I don't have anybody else that's saying they're
- 21:23Speaker 3: the most dominant. Yeah, you have plenty of guys that
- 21:26Speaker 3: have better numbers, and I was trying to look up
- 21:27Speaker 3: their numbers here just to just to see what other
- 21:30Speaker 3: guys he had down there available. They're gonna have better numbers.
- 21:34Speaker 3: But there's something different about the ninth inning. So you
- 21:38Speaker 3: put somebody in there who has felt that situation. He
- 21:41Speaker 3: has strikeout stuff. I think he has like thirteen or
- 21:44Speaker 3: fifteen strikeouts in the ten innings he's thrown. But yes,
- 21:47Speaker 3: he's gotten hit a little bit. Yes he doesn't necessary
- 21:50Speaker 3: you know, he doesn't necessarily throw strikes all the time,
- 21:52Speaker 3: but he's been in that situation and he has a
- 21:55Speaker 3: strikeout pitch that has has had success. I don't hate
- 21:58Speaker 3: that choice. I really don't. The night before is the
- 22:01Speaker 3: choice that I'm not a big fan of.
- 22:03Speaker 1: All right, let's cue this quick sound from Giants manager
- 22:06Speaker 1: Tony Baytello, and if he feels handcuffed by the lack
- 22:09Speaker 1: of one true closer at this point in the season,
- 22:13Speaker 1: I trying to say, then you're not feeling a little
- 22:15Speaker 1: bit handcuffed that you don't have a true closer out
- 22:17Speaker 1: there and you've been doing trial there with these guys
- 22:19Speaker 1: in the ninth inning.
- 22:21Speaker 2: No, we'd be handcuffed as a coaching staff. We didn't
- 22:23Speaker 2: have a good team. We've got a good team.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I guess it was the most exciting answer, But I
- 22:30Speaker 1: think it helps to have a good closer.
- 22:32Speaker 2: They they have a good team, are supposed.
- 22:37Speaker 1: To say you have a bad team.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I know there's there is no answer for him to say,
- 22:41Speaker 2: but do they have it?
- 22:43Speaker 5: I mean, they're they're they're battling the Rockies for last
- 22:46Speaker 5: place right now.
- 22:47Speaker 2: They're not.
- 22:47Speaker 5: It's not like they're I mean, even going into this year,
- 22:51Speaker 5: we kind of thought like where the Giants gonna be.
- 22:53Speaker 5: But the Giants are twenty seven and forty twenty seven
- 22:56Speaker 5: and forty that's not a good team.
- 23:00Speaker 3: They are no closer, Like you can keep trying to
- 23:03Speaker 3: pick guys out. They traded a dude that could have
- 23:06Speaker 3: been a closer. They sent down Ryan Walker like they're
- 23:09Speaker 3: not playing well. There were two dudes on the roster
- 23:12Speaker 3: at this time last year that were looking to possibly
- 23:15Speaker 3: be All star closers, and now they have neither of
- 23:18Speaker 3: them on their big league team.
- 23:20Speaker 4: I don't think they're that great now.
- 23:23Speaker 1: They were blitzed by the Gnats and the ninth inning
- 23:25Speaker 1: a three run ninth for the Gnats to win by
- 23:27Speaker 1: a run, and the Knats can score. You gotta be
- 23:30Speaker 1: careful with them who runs.
- 23:31Speaker 2: But again, here's the thing. They weren't good. We didn't
- 23:35Speaker 2: think when they we went into the season.
- 23:38Speaker 5: We did anybody in here say, man, Giants are going
- 23:41Speaker 5: to be as good as the Dodgers. No, No, they
- 23:45Speaker 5: were split fourth place team pretty much.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Let's talk Christopher Sanchez for a moment. He pitched against
- 23:53Speaker 1: the Blue Jays. He won as usual, he punched out
- 23:57Speaker 1: ten Kratz. What are they saying about him?
- 24:00Speaker 3: I mean, obviously everybody's gonna remember his streak, this is
- 24:04Speaker 3: scoreless inning streak this year.
- 24:05Speaker 4: But to me, the fifth or sixth inning.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I wish I remember what it was where he needed
- 24:11Speaker 3: strikeouts and he got him. He got one strikeout on
- 24:15Speaker 3: a change up, one strikeout on a slider cutter thing
- 24:19Speaker 3: that he was throwing, and one strikeout on a heater.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I think that is when I when you see anyings
- 24:25Speaker 3: like that, you feel like a guy is taking that
- 24:27Speaker 3: next step to say, okay, yes. Last year I was
- 24:31Speaker 3: top three cy Young votes. I want to win it
- 24:34Speaker 3: now because in big spots, he's coming up with big
- 24:37Speaker 3: punch outs that making three different guys in the lineup right,
- 24:41Speaker 3: he lefty, righty look stupid.
- 24:49Speaker 5: He gave up a home run. He stinks first one
- 24:53Speaker 5: in like forever stinks.
- 24:55Speaker 1: This guy stinks.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I still think he's given one up in in Philly.
- 25:01Speaker 3: He went for a long time last year without giving
- 25:03Speaker 3: one up in Philly, which anybody's ever played in Philly
- 25:07Speaker 3: should not be a picture's park, and he has made
- 25:09Speaker 3: it a pitcher's park.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I mean the Phillies rotation has tilted the narrative there. Right.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Sometimes you look and you're like, oh, low scoring game
- 25:19Speaker 1: in Philly, and it's like whoa, whoa, whoa. You don't
- 25:21Speaker 1: know how that park plays It's just that it's Sanchez
- 25:23Speaker 1: and it's Wheeler and Lozardo when he has his good nights.
- 25:27Speaker 1: When we had vintage Nola, you know, for a while
- 25:30Speaker 1: there was a lot working and then Doron obviously, so
- 25:33Speaker 1: there's some there's some good arms in that rotation, but
- 25:36Speaker 1: Sanchez is the best.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Hey.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I mean, I was telling, was it yesterday who did
- 25:40Speaker 1: we have? Didn't we have someone? We'd Brad Keller yesterday
- 25:43Speaker 1: and I'm like, whose tool do you like the best? Like,
- 25:47Speaker 1: you know, give me one trait? And he picked Sancho,
- 25:49Speaker 1: you know, I mean he just kind of generalized, but
- 25:51Speaker 1: picked Sanchez. He shouted out many other teammates they're superstars there,
- 25:54Speaker 1: but for him, Sanchez is the show right now. And
- 25:58Speaker 1: that's saying a lot. When Schover is one of the
- 26:00Speaker 1: home run leaders, Bryce is there, You've got Tray Speed,
- 26:04Speaker 1: You've got Duran in the ninth Sanchez is the show.
- 26:09Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 5: And by the way, when they get into the postseason,
- 26:13Speaker 5: if you've got to face Sanchez, Wheeler, Lozardo, Nola and
- 26:17Speaker 5: now Bullpen with Keller and Duran at the back end,
- 26:20Speaker 5: and I guess Alvarado is he eligible this year?
- 26:22Speaker 2: Is that's pretty good.
- 26:24Speaker 1: He's back bowling YEA support for today's episode comes from Square,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and they've got big news. During Squar's biannual Releases event,

- 27:33Speaker 1: bring this team up a lot, but there's always drama.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Tim Healy wrote this morning a report that the Red
- 27:38Speaker 1: Sox are not considering firing chief baseball officer Craig Breslo.
- 27:42Speaker 1: There has not even been a discussion about making a change.
- 27:47Speaker 1: My answer to this report, and I love Timmy does
- 27:50Speaker 1: a great job, is there's one or two people making
- 27:53Speaker 1: this decision. And yeah, they're not making a change mid season.
- 27:56Speaker 1: But guys, if the Red Sox finished ten games under
- 27:59Speaker 1: five hundred after this year, do you think that they
- 28:03Speaker 1: might reconsider their position or do they look back at
- 28:06Speaker 1: last year making the playoffs and saying, eh, we're okay.
- 28:11Speaker 5: They fired the manager already, right right, They let Breslo
- 28:15Speaker 5: fire the manager, put his people in place. And now
- 28:19Speaker 5: this is one of the reasons that this was speculated,
- 28:21Speaker 5: not by us, but by a lot of the experts.
- 28:23Speaker 5: The reason Breslo fired Cora was because he was feeling
- 28:26Speaker 5: pressure to win this year. And what was it, Heim
- 28:30Speaker 5: Bloom got three years. This is Breslo's third year, if
- 28:33Speaker 5: I'm correct, So if he doesn't win this year, which
- 28:36Speaker 5: right now they're not in a very good position to
- 28:38Speaker 5: do it.
- 28:40Speaker 2: He could be feeling some heat. I don't know if
- 28:41Speaker 2: they'll do.
- 28:42Speaker 5: That, but this is the old, uh, dreaded vote of confidence, right, Oh,
- 28:46Speaker 5: he's not going anywhere, and then they always find out,
- 28:48Speaker 5: like a month later or whatever, something happens.
- 28:50Speaker 2: It's usually having coaches and managers.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 28:54Speaker 3: I don't think Craig Breslow's I think he is. I
- 28:57Speaker 3: think he's good where he's at. I'm only saying that
- 29:01Speaker 3: because I think they gave Craig enough of a vote
- 29:05Speaker 3: of confidence to make his own decision to fire Korra.
- 29:10Speaker 3: And as much as ownership could say yes, that was
- 29:15Speaker 3: Craig's Craig's thing, you can't make that kind of fell
- 29:20Speaker 3: swoop through a coaching staff.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Without the okay by ownership.
- 29:25Speaker 3: So to me, I think I think they're more behind
- 29:28Speaker 3: Breslo than than history would say. Now next year is
- 29:33Speaker 3: the dreaded fourth year of being a GM or being
- 29:37Speaker 3: in the front office under John Henry. You have to
- 29:43Speaker 3: you have to perform, you have to do things, and
- 29:45Speaker 3: even when you do that, they still fire you. So
- 29:48Speaker 3: I don't think he's on the chopping block. I feel
- 29:50Speaker 3: like the way he speaks speaks to like the rich
- 29:54Speaker 3: and the famous, you know, with all those big words. Wow,
- 29:57Speaker 3: I'm enamored by those big words. WHOA, what are you
- 29:59Speaker 3: doing with our pitching staff? We already have a good
- 30:02Speaker 3: young young position players. I think he's I think he's
- 30:06Speaker 3: I think he's good to go for now.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Yeah, they're in last place.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Yeah that's not good. Good too.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Nopeatnership doesn't care about wins.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Hey, we have some breaking news. The Brewers are handing
- 30:23Speaker 1: out another extension, this one to Luis Lara, a seven
- 30:27Speaker 1: year contract thirty one million bucks on the extension. It
- 30:30Speaker 1: includes three club options. That's Jeff passing with the report,
- 30:34Speaker 1: and then Baseball America has him ranked number five overall
- 30:37Speaker 1: in the Brewer system. By the way, the Brewers have
- 30:40Speaker 1: the best farm system in baseball right now, so five
- 30:44Speaker 1: means one or two and many other organizations. He is
- 30:47Speaker 1: a high end prospect. The deal max is out at
- 30:50Speaker 1: seventy nine million dollars, So Luis Lara, no matter what happens,
- 30:57Speaker 1: is a multi millionaire, and he's not necessarily going to
- 31:00Speaker 1: be up in the show right away either. Just like
- 31:02Speaker 1: Cooper Pratt. Hey Jay, they've done this twice now, and
- 31:05Speaker 1: this seems to be a new tactic for Milwaukee. Can
- 31:07Speaker 1: they lock down their players before they even crack the
- 31:10Speaker 1: big leagues?
- 31:12Speaker 2: I like it.
- 31:13Speaker 5: I like this strategy if you're a Brewers and we
- 31:15Speaker 5: saw the Pirates do with Connor Griffin, right, If you're
- 31:17Speaker 5: the Brewers, this is a way to keep guys around
- 31:20Speaker 5: for possibly longer than they hit free agency. Gives their
- 31:23Speaker 5: fans some to look at and say, oh wow, we've
- 31:25Speaker 5: got Pratt locked up, We've got Laura, We've got Churio.
- 31:29Speaker 5: We've got these guys locked up for a long time.
- 31:31Speaker 5: And it gives you some to build off of if
- 31:33Speaker 5: you think these guys are going to be good players.
- 31:35Speaker 5: I know some agents will say, don't do it, you
- 31:38Speaker 5: can get more. But also if you're Luis Lara and
- 31:42Speaker 5: they offer you thirty one million guaranteed, possibly seventy nine
- 31:46Speaker 5: million dollars, it's really hard as a kid twenty in
- 31:50Speaker 5: the around twenty years old to turn that down. I'm sorry,
- 31:55Speaker 5: and good for him, good for the Brewers, and I
- 31:59Speaker 5: like this trend. I think it's good for the game,
- 32:01Speaker 5: and I think it shows that that smaller market teams
- 32:04Speaker 5: can compete as long as they sign the right guys
- 32:06Speaker 5: and guys they believe in.
- 32:10Speaker 4: Yeah, what's wrong with that? Many millions of dollars?
- 32:13Speaker 3: And this is where I feel like people who rip
- 32:17Speaker 3: on us for being a player centric show. This would
- 32:20Speaker 3: be against what the Players Association says, like play it out.
- 32:24Speaker 3: You know this is you want to build the value.
- 32:27Speaker 3: There's so much value. My guy is not even in
- 32:29Speaker 3: the big leagues yet, he's not even dominating Triple A yet.
- 32:34Speaker 3: To me, I think this is how teams can compete.
- 32:37Speaker 3: But this also should give fans a glimpse that there's
- 32:41Speaker 3: money out there.
- 32:41Speaker 4: People complain.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Just the other day it came out about the whole
- 32:44Speaker 3: tatist accepting the money before from from the company that
- 32:50Speaker 3: was giving out money in the minor leagues. Now he's
- 32:55Speaker 3: complaining about the teams should be The teams shouldn't complain
- 32:58Speaker 3: about this. They have an opportunity to these guys up early.
- 33:01Speaker 3: They should do it. They should go to it because
- 33:03Speaker 3: you're not going to hit on all of them. But
- 33:05Speaker 3: you know what it does. It creates It creates a
- 33:10Speaker 3: stable force in your organization. Now you're going to have
- 33:13Speaker 3: Jackson Curio. You still have Jelly for a minute, you
- 33:16Speaker 3: still have Then you have Laura, then you have Cooper Pratt.
- 33:19Speaker 3: You have guys that are willing to be in the organization,
- 33:22Speaker 3: want to be there and are going to play together
- 33:24Speaker 3: their style of baseball.
- 33:27Speaker 1: And just to get some more info in Larras. So
- 33:29Speaker 1: he's an outfielder right, Venezuelan and outfielder signed for seven
- 33:33Speaker 1: figures about a million bucks out of Venezuela. Remember Jackson
- 33:37Speaker 1: Curio did this, who was more highly touted. But Larra
- 33:40Speaker 1: is still a big deal prospect that does not have
- 33:42Speaker 1: the pop that Churios has, the speed, has the contact
- 33:45Speaker 1: ability right basically the rest of the tools, not the power,
- 33:48Speaker 1: Like he has almost no power so far in the
- 33:51Speaker 1: minor leagues. That doesn't mean he doesn't find a little
- 33:54Speaker 1: bit grow into his body more. But he is a
- 33:56Speaker 1: small guy. He's five foot seven and the brew are
- 34:00Speaker 1: one of those teams we've talked about multiple times. They
- 34:02Speaker 1: have a short kings thing, just like the Diamondbacks are
- 34:04Speaker 1: starting to do. They do not care about size. They
- 34:06Speaker 1: also have a different brand of baseball that is much
- 34:09Speaker 1: more coming at you, blitz ball category, and Laura fits
- 34:13Speaker 1: right into that. Mold.
- 34:14Speaker 2: So he steals bases.
- 34:16Speaker 5: Yep, listen, he steals bases, he gets on base, doesn't
- 34:20Speaker 5: strike out a ton in the minor leagues. I mean,
- 34:22Speaker 5: this is a Brewers tight player. I mean he's twenty
- 34:28Speaker 5: one years old. I mean, look at those are those
- 34:29Speaker 5: numbers obviously this year. But he's a pretty good player. Man,
- 34:34Speaker 5: that's a pretty good player. The k percentage is huge
- 34:37Speaker 5: for me. He's on more walks and strikeouts this year.
- 34:42Speaker 5: This is this is a win for me, this is
- 34:43Speaker 5: a win for Laura, and this is a win for
- 34:45Speaker 5: the Brewers.
- 34:47Speaker 3: I'm always taking back to what Savado Perez told me
- 34:50Speaker 3: about his first contract that he signed. He said, crappy,
- 34:54Speaker 3: He said, do you know how many bees? That many
- 34:57Speaker 3: millions of dollars is for my family? My family and
- 35:00Speaker 3: never has to work again. Salvi's made his money on
- 35:03Speaker 3: the back end of his career. Right now, it's five
- 35:06Speaker 3: hundred and sixty three b's for every American.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Dollar in Venezuela.
- 35:10Speaker 3: This is life changing, generational changing, family, generational changing for him.
- 35:17Speaker 4: So good for Larra.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Yeah. And then one other tool. He's got a canon
- 35:21Speaker 1: arm in the outfield too, so he's got plenty of them.
- 35:23Speaker 5: He fits him perfect in the Brewers. He's a Brewers player.
- 35:27Speaker 5: I'm sorry, he is a Brewers type player.
- 35:30Speaker 1: That's good for the Brewers.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yep, that's a good player.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Usually, Hey, let's slap just some quick news here. Then
- 35:48Speaker 1: we'll stay on for the YouTube crowd as we do.
- 35:50Speaker 1: News from the Mets Quoda single will not make his
- 35:52Speaker 1: scheduled rehab start, which was supposed to be today, owner
- 35:55Speaker 1: nerve irritation in the right upper arm, so the team
- 35:58Speaker 1: says it'll get more info went possible. Good news for
- 36:00Speaker 1: Mets fans. Francisco Oparez is back, already activated off the IL.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Apparently he came back way quicker than expected, catchers tougher
- 36:08Speaker 1: than pictures factor fiction.
- 36:12Speaker 3: It's not even yes, I'm it's not even willing to
- 36:15Speaker 3: speak to engage on that crappy crap you just said.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Sometimes you gotta give him the answers, the easy answers
