Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we're on.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is three hours per carry.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm afraid or I guess I'm in Clancy is here.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Kaufman is here and last week or on Monday, I got cut off by the the internet demons as I was about to start talking about Bobby Bonilla.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_04]: I thought about actually.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Bobby Bonilla retired in 2001.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: but there's a thing called Bobby Bonilla Day, which is July 1st, every calendar year until the year, 2,035.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: Where he receives on that day, I'm pretty sure in an ACH deposit.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's picking up a check.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: I would pick up a check.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: I would ask for it in gold, maybe.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: $1.2 million.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: Every July 1st, he is now 58 years old.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you asked yourself, how is this guy getting paid $1.2 million every single year until the year 2035?
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's simple.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: The Metz didn't want to pay him $5.9 million on his last deal when they got rid of him.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: So they did a deferred payment and paying him interest instead.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: So they paid him 8% interest for every day past the year 2011.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: essentially by taking a deferred payment made $30 million will make $30 million instead of the 5.9 he's owed.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now here's the the kicker to all of this.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: The same thing happened to him with the orials and the orials are paying him $500,000 every year until I first until the year 2035 as well.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, when I grow up Simon, I want to be a
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: A baseball player that they want to get rid of so bad that they make these deals where they pay me 30 million dollars 30 years into the future like it's just great.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: I've ever heard of anything like this ever in in sport.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_05]: So there's some of the people from England who listened to this podcast world, or which this podcast will know that there is a soccer manager called Alan Parju, who was a manager of a club called Newcastle United, and he was sacked.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_05]: And I think Parju was sacked with, I'm going to say eight years left on his contract.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_05]: And he was, the joke was that like, and he didn't work again pretty much.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_05]: So he went to Crystal Palace in 2015.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_05]: It was sat around Newcast in 2014, but I'm pretty sure that like in 2021, he was still being paid as if he was the Newcast on Manager.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_05]: And however many managers knew Castle subsequently sat after that point, the joke was that, well, Alan Pardou is still being paid.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_05]: And then there was a, when the final day came where his last paid, I'm sure it was about seven.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_05]: There was like a big news story about it because it was like, this dude had been, you know, seven years according in like a million a year for doing that.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_05]: So you shittled also.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_05]: Nice work if you can get it right.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, that's where we can get a haven't heard of it in sports, but this is the lottery payment.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_03]: This is the lump sum versus the I mean this is yeah.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_05]: That is that is that deal like what would you take the lump sum or the incremental year on here.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, you know, personally, I was because only because of the business that I'm in, I would take the lump son, um, because because I feel like, you know, I could, I could manage it properly myself, um, otherwise I would not.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: So, so you're not, oh, don't back them.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's what you're saying.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're aware of that story, right, Simon?
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:11[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I prefer to think I prefer to think that actually mouth was not going to clarify the Bobby Boney in situation at all.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_03]: He was just trying to say,
- 4:25[SPEAKER_05]: That's definitely off again, man.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_05]: We obviously will get to the Jets Dolphins in a bit because that's why we're just shooting.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_05]: But before we started recording, we were talking about tonight's game.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_05]: So as we're going to go we're going to throw tonight we're about an hour away from Detroit Dallas, which is a pretty decent game hour and ten minutes away.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_05]: And kick off.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_05]: And I said to the, so my partner is a Gremé Packer's owner.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_05]: And so I sort of I carelessly live through her joy of being a Packer's fan.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_05]: And so if I had a second to you, I don't think I'm a second to you.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_05]: But Gremé would be mine.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_05]: And I asked Alph, who his words and he said Dallas and then Chris said another to you.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if I can say Chris, because I think I was, well, I've known you for like 25 years, but never knew that this was your second to you.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_05]: Whereas I've always known that Alph and everybody knows about Gremé.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't want to be the bear of the news that, that's your story to tell if you want to tell that.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I was saying, well, it's okay.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_03]: First off, the easiest one is I live in Tampa Bay.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, I could, if I need an NFC team, the Buccaneers would suffice.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't really pay much attention to another team when the dolphins are kind of sucking because
- 5:34[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I could just rely on the heat or something else to occupy my time, but, you know, I was, you know, I was such a huge Mahomes fan coming out of the college and then like, you know, I went to the Super Bowl down on Miami when, you know, Mahomes and the Chiefs are playing the 49ers and, you know, as kind of as like, I joked around since since around then that, you know, the Kansas City Chiefs are actually my AFC team.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: I was supposed to cover that super ball and I told Ethan, no, no, give my credential to Chris, because he's Mr. Mahomes.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_05]: And then I asked, then I asked, who do you think your favorite, so I'll get to current player.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_05]: Who's your favorite non-dolphin favorite player of all time?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: to me it's always all those safeties from the 90s so Steve at water, Ronnie Lot, Denny Smith, very, very good for the Broncos, but if I had to pick one, Steve at water for the Broncos.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_05]: Big number 27 Chris.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_03]: I think that, you know, for growing up, I had the hugest thing for Barry Sanders, and so it was, you know, that's a, that's a, that's a very nostalgic, you know, pick growing up as Barry Sanders.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: But in other words, like, it might have been like, it might really be air and not.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: Because I was, you know, I really liked them a whole lot coming out of pit and then he just just the sheer dominance that happened once he started in the NFL and there was a lot of in your faceness about it to because You know, obviously small guy and a lot of people didn't like him because of that and but it just just
- 7:21[SPEAKER_03]: What he did and I felt was entirely crazy.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've always been very fond of a full back As you can tell, I've always I've always backed Alec Engold.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: I love Alec Engold.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, he's a nice guy and it's a good good football player But go it reaching back into antiquity Tom Rathman of the 404 great player
- 7:44[SPEAKER_03]: And it's off and you're recording it off the last thing you're gonna guy.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you want to die from 20 page number 49 20 page He played that great game against the chiefs in the playoffs where we are yeah, we came from behind and Clayton beat Albert Lewis on that
- 8:00[SPEAKER_05]: out around down at the door line and then there's the famous five york penalty that pushed Nick Larry back and he missed the the long field got the end of the game.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the chiefs famously had a three-headed monster at running back that year of Kristen Akoya at 265 pounds.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry, Larry
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that was a good scene.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_05]: I was German.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_05]: We hadn't done anything for like three quarters and then Marina hit Ferrell Edmonds at the end zone for a massive game up to midfield and kind of gave us a bit of momentum and got us back into that.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Barry for me, what's multiplayer and I was a really big paint and fan art monk.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_05]: And then there was a couple of others.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Jerry Rice and Spos.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_05]: I know somebody else wants to take care of, who I really love.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Randy Moss as well.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_05]: I just don't Randy Moss is unbelievable.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_05]: Like, yeah, that's maybe the freakiest player I've ever seen along with Barry.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_05]: What about modern players?
- 9:00[SPEAKER_05]: Who's your favorite non-miami?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_05]: One from offense, one from defense, modern play.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: For me, offense, a deck press got as a quarterback.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's always classy and very sneakily.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the thing about DAC is that, you know, he has that playoff thing that he can't shake.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's lost three times as a favorite in the playoffs.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's an issue.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, defensively, that's a, that's a, that's a rough one, right?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's so many good players.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_03]: Hmm, because I think I think, I think that, you know, offensively, the, um, the, you know, getting back to the quarterbacks.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: I'm probably not allowed to say this, uh, you know,
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's Josh Allen, but I'm not allowed to say that, you know.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I like it.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I despise the Buffalo Bill.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: I love watching Josh Allen play.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, there will be a lot of my reference this thing watching to this go.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so you can't hate it.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_05]: I find it really hard not to like him.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_05]: He's just a likable person.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_05]: He's a great player.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_05]: He just seems a good guy like a, you know, it's no.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: If you were
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: You would be such a huge Josh Allen version like all of us like you know like and and it's just all aspects of it his personality like I don't know if anybody's like seeing all the The behind the scenes buffalo videos and how they like interact with each other and all the different handshakes that Josh does with all the different members of his team and stuff like that I mean it's just
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot there that's just like, man, damn it.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, my partner did, um, did, uh, so when the bills came over here and she did something for the NFL over here with him and she spent half an hour with him.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_05]: She said he was actually delightful like, just a really nice guy.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_05]: Funny act, just doing funny accents and just messing around and just making like everybody feel really like comfortable on it ease and, um, what about defensively, what defensive
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: I've always been a big fan of Bobby Wagner, okay.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, what a play.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: There's no fight.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if I can think of it.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Oh, Max Crosby.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: I can forget Max Crosby.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, like one of the just just a guy who's an absolute god and, you know, and has been.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_03]: you know, with Garrett, Miles Garrett, but I mean, it's just, I don't know if it's him, I mean, he's probably attachment to him though.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they both have, they both have the, the, the quality that I really admire, which is you're on a bad team and you're playing as if it's the fourth quarter of the superman.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: against, you know, the cults in the week 18.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, my, my two got, I love Micah Parsons.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_05]: I just love, yeah, really plays with.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_05]: And I just, just really watching what he does, like, like, Mars and Max Rumble, even more than Mars is, like, you know, the greatest part of social regeneration.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_05]: But,
- 12:21[SPEAKER_05]: you watch the amount of times that Parsons just the way he rushes and that, you know, the strength he has is just ridiculous, the relentlessness.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's a, he's just, he's frightening as well.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_05]: Like Garrett seems like a really nice, do, and Parsons seems like an ice crab, but it's just something
- 12:37[SPEAKER_05]: Frightening about my capacitance coming off the edge.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_05]: And then I think so that I am just like like you for Josh Allen and you for that I'm just the biggest Joe Barrow ho-were of all time.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_05]: I love him as a player, but I find his personality so Just meshes with everything that I find joyful about life.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_05]: He's just slightly unique slightly different a bit quirky
- 13:00[SPEAKER_05]: I just think he's, I watch that call back series on Netflix, I'm just like, fuck, I just think you're so cool, just like, they would be mine, they'd be mine too, I think so.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, who's the guy who's growing on me too?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: I've watched a couple of his podcasts.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm unrusting, brown.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, he's here.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, right.

- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: him in the single guys just go to Tutsis.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_04]: Is that a straight line?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Watch the to watch the late games to watch the late games.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and yeah, I mean, if they don't, we just go to two his house, you know, if too many of the married guys get together, okay, we just go to the to two of us for a barbecue to watch the late games.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_05]: But it's a late game quote today.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_05]: Did you see the Instagram thing?
- 14:14[SPEAKER_05]: I ain't need no gender reveal.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_05]: Mom's real out of him.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: He shot the whole fight and see that.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I know I'm giving away I'm on Rossing Brown's podcast here, but screw you on my ride.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: You make 30 million dollars a year.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you need this podcast money.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: But in that podcast, Devon H. and sounds like a dolphin fan, because he's like,
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Bro, he's talking to a man racing around a man raw about what happened in the beginning of the season.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, we beat the Patriots twice, can you imagine we had a pump return.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: They returned to kick off.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: I score the winning touchdown.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: I step out of bounds.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then he looks in the camera and he goes, this shit only happens to us.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, man.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_05]: He's his Instagram is
- 15:07[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we need a big game from him and see it that we can if we're going to win.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, absolutely.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, we'll do that on the other side of the break.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's our segue that way.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was good.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_05]: It's beautiful.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_05]: Thanks, man.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: As it's jets, dolphins, and we'll talk about that on the other side of the break.

- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: Weather is getting better.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted it to be a lot colder, but now it's expected to be in the 40s.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're going to learn anything about this team.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want them to go beat the jets in terrible weather and then beat the the Steelers in
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: and then go do it again against New England.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to convince me that maybe they've turned the corner with some of these players, I want them to get that experience.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like it's going to be 42 degrees at gain time and sunny.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: So it's different than what was expected.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_05]: Two are still out tonight when the temperature is 45 degrees and below.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but he did beat the Jets when it was 46 degrees.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and that's 20, 20, 30, the beat them 34, 13.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, if you're going to bust narrative, start busting narrative narratives now.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's start very quickly here with when the dolphins have the football.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is a defense that's kind of devoid of the talent that it had.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: They play a lot of man coverage.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of favorable things here for my
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: They just got to stay on schedule, right?
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it's no time to start changing your stripes.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: Get behind H and get behind your three running backs, your tight ends, ball control, get a lead, and essentially start running out the clock with a two-scored lead.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: Agreed, Simon?
- 19:28[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think so.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_05]: I think that that, you know, the way that a passing game and especially the quarterback is regressed over the last few weeks and certainly that the very mediocre season that he's had, I just think continue to just, you know, use that run game and it was interesting to see Jayden right being used pretty early on.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_05]: I think you have a second carry the game on some day and then I think you can carry it again.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_05]: Then we didn't see him for the rest of the game.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_05]: I don't
- 19:53[SPEAKER_05]: was a bit weird that you know then all he came in and I just think they found a sort of solution but they found something that worked and I just think they should keep doing it until to someone can stop it and nobody's particularly shown the ability to be able to stop it.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_05]: I think they kind of killed themselves against Baltimore a little bit and they went away from the run game but you know Devon was the
- 20:14[SPEAKER_05]: You know, rightfully did the AFC player with the offensive player the month.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_05]: He said a huge month and you want to see him pick up another 100 plus yards against the jets.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_05]: It's going to be cold.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's not a game that two are plays particularly well in.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_05]: So let's, you know, get brunsicle in the game.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_05]: Let's get Julian Hill on those promoters.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_05]: Let's get Aaron out in front.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_05]: Let's get brought in front and, you know, paving the way and keep hand in the rock.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_05]: And I think it's worked.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_05]: Whether that's, you know, outside zone that we've been doing, whether that's a split flow
- 20:43[SPEAKER_05]: And when that's bringing the two big old horses and mixing it up a little bit with Ollie and Jalen, I just think that has to be the plan moving forwards because the passing game feels a little bit Chris on on last support, the way the court backs playing and you know we have a you know elite running back.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_05]: and an offensive line that's beginning to play pretty well and understand its fundamental responsibilities on a down-to-down based in the wrong game.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_05]: I think that's the way that we do it moving forwards and if we're gonna try and get in the playoffs, that's got to be the solution.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_03]: Well, the easy answer for Miami on offense.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I agree with everything that you're saying about Devon H and you want to continue.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_03]: ride that train until the wheels come off if they ever do.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: He's the player the month for a reason, but go back to that first game and see what the what's his name Darren Waller did in the first game against them and that was I believe the first game that he played, right?
- 21:47[SPEAKER_03]: It was
- 21:48[SPEAKER_03]: kind of the in your face for doubting me kind of you know performance and and I think actually it was it was quite eye-opening that performance against the jets not just because of the touchdowns but really just looking at him on tape and seeing seeing what kind of you know savvy that he ran his routes with and what kind of immediate out of the box you know kind of chemistry
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: with to a tongue of I love I think that's what to a tongue of I love a you know needs you're trying to I realize he's not playing well and so part of you wants to to really minimize him as much as you can especially he's going up there and called whether uh if there's no precipitation though if there's no I think he's got consistent issues with with precipitation and wetball I mean I think I don't I don't even know if it's a question at this point it's just like every time it happens
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: Every time it happens, there's slippery fumbles and there's really kind of odd, uncharacteristic bad accuracy.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: And so if that's not the case, then maybe there is some opportunity to be had in the passing game, particularly with Darren Wallman.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_03]: And then I think is not just something that could win the game because of how effective it is, but also get your quarterback some confidence and that could go even further toward helping the dolphins out.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_03]: Because if he's playing, well, the dolphins have so much better of a chance of winning the game.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_03]: And that's been too big of an if over the season and really kind of for a while now.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I think offensively, you're going to have to, you're going to have to feed your Darren Waller.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_03]: You really have to go after it.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_03]: And that's the one that I'm not sure that they're really going to, even though he had the couple and paratroxions the first time around.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think the jets are going to build a game plan around taking way Darren Waller.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's an opportunity there.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're going to be a little light at corner back, but we're going to see as Thomas start for I believe the the second time I think I think this is the second start he's going to be playing in place of Brownlee so he's going to be matched up with with water everybody's kind of laid out what they're going to do with water is just put somebody over the top and get somebody in his face so yeah those titans have to do something underneath.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: I spoke about this a little bit on our discord and Chris was a little cool on him, but I think that this is the way forward for a team that's kind of cash strapped.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: You got to find roster players that you like on the cheap.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: What is your estimation of Simon of Greg Doltzich as a roster player?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: going forward for this, uh, this tag end group because it's now four games in a row that he has a reception of over 17 yards.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I like Dolce's coming out of UCLA.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_05]: I think it was a good good job people by the Broncos and the, and the only thing that's that's really held in back has been injuries.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_05]: So,
- 25:03[SPEAKER_05]: and he's proven that he can stay healthy or be in the short term, and he's absolutely got to be in the mix.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_05]: He's safe-handed to certainly seems to have more trust in him than he does Nick Westbroker Q&A, for example.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_05]: So I absolutely think Dolce it should be in the mix.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_05]: He was a second-round pick for a reason, a third-round pick for a reason.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_05]: He's well-sized.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_05]: He's look good hands.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_05]: He can move.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_05]: He can run after the catch.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_05]: He's no slouch.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_05]: He's got that sort of
- 25:31[SPEAKER_05]: you know, skill set.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_05]: It's just been the injuries that have always held him back.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_05]: And if he's over that hump, then I absolutely see no reason why he wouldn't be a, you know, a rosterer, a rosterer player moving forwards.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_05]: And if, you know, if this new evolution of Julian Hill, the one that we saw two years ago as somebody who had blocking potential who's now,
- 25:50[SPEAKER_05]: you know, really looks like he can hold his own as a move blocker but also as an inline blocker and it turning all walled as you know that he's such a tease in terms of his physical ability is so good and his hands so good but it's just again it's just a health but you know that's okay that's not you know it's not George Kittle and Travis Kelsey and you know
- 26:13[SPEAKER_05]: the kid in Arizona and you know the kid at Green Bay there's we're not talking about that level of tying but you know there's three people there that can do some you know some decent things if they can you know if they can get over the injury back and for a team that's going to be looking at all sorts of different um re-ups in terms of position groups next season if you've got a guy like Greg Dolce
- 26:41[SPEAKER_05]: He makes catches the core about trust him and, you know, you can do some things to them.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't, I like him.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_05]: I think you can play.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this group plus a draft pick.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's the worst thing in the world, you know?
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Your thoughts?
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: Chris?
- 26:56[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't care.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_05]: They was being analyzing about the future of Greg Dullsation.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: But not a fan of Greg Dulls.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, it's just like, what am I looking at?
- 27:10[SPEAKER_03]: What am I looking at?
- 27:11[SPEAKER_03]: Then I'm supposed to seize on that I really like.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_03]: Like, first off, if you take Darren Waller out of this group, I don't believe it's, you know, oh, you know, a decent group or something.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think it's one of the worst groups in the league.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_03]: If you if you take Darren Waller out of it, and that includes Dalsich.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, and so Julian Hill is somebody that needs to be recycled next year.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_03]: Throne or thrown in the recycle bin, I should say, you know, for somebody else to take.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's really about the foil of seeing last year John and Smith and then this year Darren Waller and seeing what it really is supposed to look like, you know, as far as a guy that could make it because let's not let's be honest Darren Waller, you know, as much as I've seen his praises, this isn't five years ago Darren Waller, you know, this is this is not.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's not that.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_03]: That's not the all pro Darren Waller.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_03]: We're not talking about that.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_03]: We're talking about somebody who is, you know, very diminished compared to that.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_03]: And yet, it is hadn't shoulders to me, um, if you think we might make season when they come on this status kind.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_05]: What's that?
- 28:27[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, John is definitely not an exceeding one of the stateless kind.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_03]: It has been entirely possible.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_03]: And because he liked, he wanted to be here.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: I know he wanted to be here.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like that was one of the things that they traded him.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I think I talked to somebody who had literally just been with him the day before or something like that and was talking to him about, you know, my amy and his future in my amy and he wanted to be here.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so, you know, it's hard to, it's hard to get enticed me to care when I'm watching Greg Dulse, it's play like, you know, okay, take or leave.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_03]: I honestly could take or leave.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't care.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_03]: Um, because that's, that's the level of player that we're looking at there.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was a number of 80 overall pick and I'm, you know, not necessarily love and love his time, uh, and previously with the Broncos and things like that.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I just don't don't really care.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it's a bad unit if you if you take a side Darren Waller.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think that they surprisingly did a decent job replacing China Smith with Darren Waller.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: If you take aside the injury thing and the fact that, you know, he has a hard time.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_03]: being on the field staying on the field at his age coming out of retirement all those things.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_03]: If you completely set that aside, then yeah, they did a good job replacing John and Smith with Darren Waller.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_03]: But everybody else, you can't, you can't entice me to care about any of them.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right, very quickly before we move on to the defense.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Westbrook, a keenish should be an active going forward.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: A great assignment.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_05]: It's just not working.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, although he can block him a wrong game.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_05]: That is a hard, you know, and consistently.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, consistently, he's our best.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_05]: He's the our best blocking receiver in the wrong game.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that is a point we shouldn't overlook given the direction this team should be heading in.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_05]: So no, I wouldn't make him inactive at all.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_03]: I think that if Sedrick Wilson would give me anything, anything at all, then maybe because, you know, he has that history of being able to block in this system as well.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_03]: But, but he's not giving you anything at all.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: You know that Nick Westbroker, King A, has very bad chemistry with to a tongue of a law.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's been the obvious for the entire season for whatever reason.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't really know what that is.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, that they don't have anything going together.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_03]: Does he really have much more with Cedric Wilson?
- 30:56[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I don't know about that either.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_03]: And so again, it's just like, if you need a blocker, all right, I get it.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, to a dead miss.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: To a dead miss, Cedric Wilson on a big one.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I just wanted to miss them on a path.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, well, yeah.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_03]: But Cedric Wilson, like, first and one, Cedric Wilson didn't give him a big window.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_03]: like that was a shoe box window to try and get it over the heads of the that of the the two underneath defenders and not overthrow the receiver that was a shoe box and and and said it will some looked like a defensive tackle trying to run underneath it was you know is not it was not you know not not a strong look for him so I think that and actually
- 31:47[SPEAKER_03]: The guy that I've been intrigued with that had a bad performance when he did get a one chance this year is Taj Washington and and I would like to revisit that because one bad performance the first time you really get a shot doesn't necessarily conclude your career and if it did then there'd be some you know there'd be some some players that were never was you know kind of players that that are actually good.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, moving on to the defense, these defensive tackles, these three rookie defensive tackles, it looks like that's the way forward.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: And then we were volunteered today that yeah, those guys are a huge part of what they're going to do the rest of the season.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: And he spoke about Zieg Beggers and he said that Zieg Beggers has transformed his body within the season.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason he wasn't playing early in the season is kind of like what I expected is that
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: the way he put it, you put somebody out there and tell him drive and then they tell you, I've never driven before, then they're going to crash.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: So essentially, he didn't trust Zieg figures in his scheme to start the season, but he does now.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: The three defensive tackles, I guess that's the way forward for these guys and against against the the jets Simon.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're a team that does seem to get themselves off balance, even in close games, they stop running the football,
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: So it could be just as simple as that, right?
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: Just went on early downs and let them do jet things that they've been doing for the last few weeks, even in the beginning.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_05]: Winning streak?
- 33:21[SPEAKER_05]: I think you've got to try and force Tyrell Taylor into unmanageable third-down situations by trying to shut down, Greece Hall, and putting them in third and long situations.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_05]: I think Justin Fields just runs that offense better than Taylor.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_05]: But I think that, you know, they do have decent offensive players, and, you know, they've got good tackles.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_05]: I think that they've got good players on the outside, obviously halls, a good player, tight ends are improving.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_05]: So, you know, I think there's a...
- 33:58[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it's hard to have a trap game when you're five and seven, but, you know, the dolphin shouldn't overlook the threat that the jets have.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_05]: And obviously, one of the things that has historically hurt, as it's caught up, actually, can use their legs on laid-downs, which is what Taylor can do, and he did that to great effect of the weekend against the Falcons, to essentially win the game without that run at the end of the game.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_05]: And, you know,
- 34:23[SPEAKER_05]: It's great getting them into third and long, but maintaining that rush lane integrity is going to be so important in terms of just making sure that, you know, we don't get up past Taylor, which allows them to duck out of the pocket and pick up, you know, critical third downs.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_05]: And what I suspect will be a close game, you know, it's going to be cold.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_05]: and really it's going to come down to who run blogs, who are I think who who runs the ball better and who makes the the least mistakes and if the dolphins, you know, don't turn the ball over and aren't tardy in that area, Chris, I think they'll probably win, but I think it'll be a very close game.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_03]: I think, well, regardless of whether the Dolphins win the game or not, you got a Tyrod Tarot Taylor in the, in the back field, as a quarterback, he is a smaller quarterback, he is a mobile quarterback.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_03]: And so if you put too much, if you try and put too much on the edge players, then you're probably going to be disappointed.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_03]: You know, because the a guy like him can can really escape and use angles and athleticism quickness against edge players that are, you know, trying to, trying to bend the corner.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so yeah, you are going to need as leak figures in their defense attack, um, being a, I mean, he's a monstrously sized player, uh, and so you want monstrously sized players, like, Zeke figures and like kind of grand, uh, getting in there and dominating the, uh, the, uh,
- 35:45[SPEAKER_03]: the back field against a smaller quarterback because you want him to feel overwhelmed by that size.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that that's something that you know, they're going to have to.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_03]: If you're talking about the rush lanes, those outside guys are going to have those outside edge players are going to have to be the ones that maintain the rush lanes and the containment whereas the inside guys like Zeke figures and like Kenneth Grant and you know Jordan Phillips are
- 36:14[SPEAKER_03]: uh... in pass rush and try and dominate that backfield against uh... to our tailor and the sort of the uh... the forgotten man and all this that i i kind of i tend to think can be a forgotten man a little bit you know and i hesitate to say that but you know breeze hall do you do formulate the game plan around
- 36:35[SPEAKER_03]: him or do you think that you can dominate to rod tail or so much, that brief haul gets his and but you tighten up in the red zone and it doesn't matter.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that that might be, this might be a game where that's okay.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_03]: You know, that's not we're not going to unless brief haul suddenly goes for 300 and just, you know, get dominates the entire game, which I just don't think it's going to happen.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_03]: Not, not with the defense having matured to where it is,
- 37:03[SPEAKER_03]: Right now, I think, I think, yeah, you're going to have to formulate this around past Russian.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_03]: That's what Zika figures is good for.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_03]: He's still a pastrush guy, you know, I'm not mind the hype that's saying that he's suddenly, you know, a good defensive tackle and he's going to be good against the run and things like that.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_03]: No, he's a pastrush guy, but that's okay for this game.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think that this game is going to be, is going to be good that way.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, last thing before we get into the predictions Anthony we were named check Mason Taylor and if you look at that first game you went for five for sixty five in that game.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: And if you remember that first game Miami was in cruise control until Mason Taylor converted a few third downs got them on schedule that got on the scoreboard and they kept within touch of that of that score and never really got outside of two scores.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: for the jet.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: So there were always in contact of one score away and it's a ball game again.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: Mason Taylor did that.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Now, make up if it's Patrick is going to be manning the nickel.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's a further in the cap of Miami, right?
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's an advantage this time around to try to zero out Mason Taylor, right, Simon?
- 38:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think so.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_05]: I think what he has done is it is performed really well in those kind of contested cat situations.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I think he's played, he Taylor has played a ton of reps, a very difficult position.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_05]: He showed good hands, I think he, I don't think he's draws a great deal of targets necessarily.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_05]: He's yeah, he hasn't been particularly good, but I think he's blocking metrics, and don't forget the offense.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_05]: They ran an LSU in terms of the concepts, a run concepts are very similar to NFL run concepts.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_05]: I think he's been pretty solid in that department, although I think with most tight ends that comes to the league, there is a, doesn't matter how good of the blocker you are.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_05]: There's college football strength, even if it's high level division one, college football strength, and there's NFL strength.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_05]: I think Kenneth Brown certainly found that out early on in, you know, and I think we'll see a very different Kenneth Brown in year two just from a physical point of view in terms of, you know, because if I was Anthony Weaver,
- 39:15[SPEAKER_05]: If I was Mike, but Dan and I've been making sure that he is spending his off season heavily working in the gym to just get stronger, I think that's what Mason Taylor would need to do as well.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, that's a matchup that you kind of, you know, Minkery against Taylor, you would take Mink, because he's been playing really well as I treat you during the game, I think, you know.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_05]: he looked like a safety who is definitely over the top of the hill and going down the other side of it in terms of all bit of a great career, but he's kind of revitalised in the nickel Chris's knee and he's played really well and it's kind of made us not miss Kada Kohu and you know there were big decisions ahead on that front, but actually you argue whether or not would be a worst defensive Minco wasn't playing at the level he's playing out even if Kohu was there, maybe Kohu plays on the outside of Minco plays it.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_05]: on the nickel, but you kind of get the impression that they'd probably have put cater in the nickel and try to kind of keep minker at safety regardless of what's happened.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_05]: But, you know, well that's done as allowed on T-Trader to get some pretty decent snaps and you know certainly the box and coming down here he showed some real, he showed some real promise and you know I don't particularly ever want to see Ashton Davis playing a great deal of safety for us anymore, but I think Trader's been one of the bright spots and done
- 40:28[SPEAKER_05]: I think Mink will do a good job in the nickel and whoever he's up against and if they motion in Garrett Wilson to that area Then you'd have confidence that Mink can play that as well Well, Gary Wilson's out for this game.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if he's still out.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think I think I really I think they're really when it comes to to Mason Taylor.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still I'm still looking yeah I'm not necessarily looking at Mink if it's Patrick he is slot, but you know They they have a slot receiver John Mechie that they're gonna they're gonna use
- 40:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't particularly think that highly of John Mechie.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, get puts and takes on him, I guess.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_03]: But I think that actually this could be an opportunity because the guy who shined last week, opportunity for the jets, the guy who shined last week was 80 Mitchell, the new guy that they traded for.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_03]: And he's on the outside where I think that, you know, if he's, what he is and why I didn't really like him coming out is I feel like he's got a consistency issue.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_03]: I think that there's there's some consistency in the way that he looks in the ball and and the way he catches it and it's not always clean.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_03]: I know he didn't have a lot of drops in college, but.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_03]: Um, that started show up in the NFL because he was he was never really a clean catcher, but if he's on, he's a guy that's like when he's when he's off it really looks bad on tape like some of the effort looks really bad on tape always has when he's on though it's it's a very different story and he was clearly on last week.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_03]: And meanwhile, that opens us up for 80 Mitchell to do some damage against us with contested catches.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_03]: That's something that I would look out for.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_03]: Meanwhile, Mason Taylor, I just don't think that make a Fitzpatrick is going to be, you know, covering Mason Taylor up and down up and down the field as much as he's going to be probably covering the slot receiver
- 42:40[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_03]: I think that it's not going to be which by the way, the safety that's been getting more play for Miami and playing better.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_03]: lately is actually melefono, that's something to keep an eye on because it was not looking good very well earlier in the season, first half of the season, and it looked like he might be a bad fit for this defense, but I think more and more you've seen not only Anthony we were kind of going to him in the lineup, which kind of indicates how he feels about the about how he's getting the defense.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_03]: but also he's playing better and so and that was a player that at one time played really well in Detroit just can never stay healthy.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_03]: So that is that is something to look at and going forward.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think yeah but the guy that again, the guy that I'm worried about could
- 43:33[SPEAKER_03]: take over a little bit and just show up and is the inconsistent one is the 80 Mitchell guy.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_03]: 80 Mitchell as a outside wider receiver because you know, I still think we are vulnerable on those outsides with with Jack Jones and and Russell Douglas.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we saw Result Douglas he had that big interception.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_03]: They also look like a defense attack or running speaking of, you know, with the ball in his hands.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_03]: But he also had that big touchdown that he gave up to, right?
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that, you know, jackdones, we've seen the inconsistency on jackdones too.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_03]: Jackdones has an inconsistent gay and day and 80 Mitchell happens to be hot, shit.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_03]: You know, that could be, that's a real potential.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Anthony Weber was a fugitive with his praise of Michael Fitzpatrick and and he named checked him by by saying that usually when guys get older at safety, they get farther and farther away from the line of scrimmage, but he feels he has two players in one.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: He feels he has a guy that he can trust in the deep third and he named check them by comparing him the two guys that he's coached before Chuck Clark and Karim Jackson as slot players.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: So he obviously trust them.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: All right, it's time to to pick the game pretty simple.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: Devon HN when the dolphins get when the dolphins get him the ball 20 times in a game or more, meaning 20 touches or more, dolphins are 5 and 0.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're record when they when he doesn't touch the ball 20 times or more, oh and 7.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: So stands the reason, get them the ball against the saints, they did one thing that I think
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: Tutanko Valoa, his A. was over 11 and a half yards, way too aggressive.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now is the time that we want, check down to a and get the ball to Dave Devon HN in the passing game.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: Last week only two targets, one catch, not good enough.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: Get the ball to the Von HN in the passing game.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: Make that your passing game along with Darren Waller.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: And your offense will hum, make a Fitzpatrick behold down Mason Taylor.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: Miami wins, let's say, 24, 16.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: It won't be a blowout.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: And there'll be anxious moments.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: But 24, 16.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: Dolphins look better on offense by getting the ball to HN in the passing game.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: What's say you, Simon?
- 46:02[SPEAKER_05]: 17, 14, Miami.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_03]: I should pick against Miami here.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I should.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_03]: And it's just, you know, and I sort of wonder if my fandom is taking over the fact that I'm not, you know, because I am gonna pick the dolphins here like 21, 20.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_03]: But I should pick against them.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_03]: They're not as good on the road.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_03]: They're not as good and cold.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_03]: They, you know, there is,
- 46:30[SPEAKER_03]: There's that potential to us not playing well.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_03]: They're not playing well.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_03]: They're last two games.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_03]: They barely walked away with victories against very depleted teams and the commanders and the saints.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_03]: They probably should have lost both games before being honest with ourselves.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_03]: The jets are, you know, they both walk in having won some games.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_03]: The jets won three out of the last five.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins won four out of the last five.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and they are playing in the jets stadium.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm, you know, overall, I'm like, you know, that's, that's kind of pointing toward the bets.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to pick the dolphins here, but I'm going to pick the dolphins for a different reason because they have to, they have to win this because if you think about where the jets are and where the dolphins are, these are, these are, it's a, it's a great tale of two teams.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: There's sort of, uh, there's a, there's a, there's a thing happening with these two
- 47:26[SPEAKER_03]: We're pushing a bad build with Rogers and Sally and then they kind of reset during the off season.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_03]: And then during the trade deadline, we saw them go into hyperdrive with that and sell off more guys for assets.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins were pushing a bad build.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_03]: at the end of last year, and both teams were highly indebted teams as far as salary cap is concerned, and the dolphins decided to maintain the course and to keep going and prioritize the present.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_03]: So the jets prioritize the future, the dolphins prioritize the present, right?
- 48:04[SPEAKER_03]: Now they meet in the present, right?
- 48:07[SPEAKER_03]: So the dolphins have ever reasoned to win here.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_03]: right that because they prioritize the present while the jets prioritize the future.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_03]: If they don't, if the jets win,
- 48:20[SPEAKER_03]: what could be more embarrassing for the Miami Dolphins than that, right?
- 48:27[SPEAKER_03]: You prioritize the president.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_03]: They prioritize the future.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_03]: They're sitting there with five first round picks and three second round picks in the next two drafts.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_03]: They went from being one of the more indebted teams in the NFL to being one of the most debt-free teams in the NFL right now.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_03]: 31st,
- 48:47[SPEAKER_03]: in salary cap debt.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_03]: Their future is clean and clear and open.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_03]: And ours is anything but because we prioritize the present, they prioritize the future.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_03]: And yet if you meet in the present and they beat you anyway, what could be more embarrassing?
- 49:07[SPEAKER_03]: for the Miami Dolphins as a franchise, a team going against, you know, and these teams don't have that much separating them.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what's so disturbing.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_03]: They've won three out of the last five.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_03]: We won four out of the last five.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_03]: Now we meet on Sunday and people are like, are they going to win?
- 49:22[SPEAKER_03]: Are we going to win?
- 49:23[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_03]: Like the the Vegas odds makers aren't really sure of it either.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not really sure of it.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_03]: None of us are really that sure of it.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_03]: And if the dolphins lose, you've got to take that as supremely insulting.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_03]: supremely insulting because how could Steve Ross sit there?
- 49:43[SPEAKER_03]: He's in New York.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_03]: Right, he's in New York, he hobnubs with all of those people that work for the jets in their front office and in the sea suites up there, right?
- 49:53[SPEAKER_03]: He knows them all and they're sitting on five first round picks in three second round picks and a completely clear deck salary cap wise while the dolphins are bloated and pushing a bad build and have a bad quarterback situation that they need to to get rid of and just the prospects are
- 50:15[SPEAKER_03]: And because they prioritize the present, the jets prioritize the future, yet they meet in the present and they still lose.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_03]: That would be really failed, awful.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_03]: What's that?
- 50:24[SPEAKER_05]: How do you really fail?
- 50:26[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, well, let me tell you.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_03]: That's.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm not.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I will predict the dolphins victory in part because I think they just need it that badly.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_03]: But it's a tough one because away in the cold, I mean, these things work against them.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_03]: the store?
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you also have this thing where, you know, teams that, let's face it, they're kind of tanking, they're getting a little bounce from starting Tyrod Taylor because they've kind of taken off since Tyrod Taylor started, usually they have a reversion like a reversal that is very quickly upon them.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's right here, you know, teams like that don't win three in a row.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, let's say,
- 51:12[SPEAKER_01]: The Von H. And I forgot to mention this in his, I'm on Ross St. Brown interview revealed that during the deadline, he was like kind of nervous that they might trade water, but the champ Kelly called him and told him, you don't have to worry about anything.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: You'll be here like he was not available.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: So whatever that means, he says, I was chilling.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: I knew I wasn't going anywhere, because champ Kelly called me and told me, we're not trading you.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to have to, if whoever the new GM is, is going to have to make a decision on the Von HN.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're looking at the numbers, two running backs are getting big deals next year.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: The John Robinson.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: and Jamir Gibbs.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_01]: Also in that, that's why I posted it on our discord.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: Also in the interview, he said, I want to, I want to wait to see what they get because they have five years because they were first rompix.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: So that's going to be an interesting thing for the offseason, but we'll have plenty of time to talk about that.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_05]: If Detroit are paying Jamir Gibbs, we say absolutely you should.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_05]: My image should be paying to go to HN in my opinion.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, uh, kind of helps is that he said those guys were first rompix and I was a third rompix.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_01]: So it's different for me.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, but I also spent Gibbs gets paid before the fifth year even kicks in because he's clearly unbelievable player.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_05]: Uh, and they're going to probably want to get him locked up sooner or later.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_05]: So hopefully that will be an indicator as to the kind of
- 52:44[SPEAKER_05]: ballpark that might be operating big you can't keep letting good players walk out the door at some point you've got have some sort of foundation but it is interesting because both teams are in a similar situation with the
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: There are very indebted teams.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins are sixth and league in terms of their salary cap debt, which is to say that cap entries in their future that they have a bunch of cap entries that don't reflect payers that you're playing or players that you are paying in the future.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's money that you've already paid.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_03]: You know, prior to the end of 2025, both teams have a lot of that.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: Have a lot of that.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins are 6th and only the lions are, you know, kind of up there.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, that's, that's something to keep an eye on that they've got it.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_03]: You know, the lions have the justification to go deeper into it.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think, because they're still a good team.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins don't have justification for going deeper into that.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_03]: but they do have a really good player.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_03]: So that's, you know, that's the, that's the, the back and forth.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Devon I can't also said that he never feels any pain when he gets hit, because he says he knows how to get hit, but he doesn't like hitting people.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm around same brown assom.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: So you say that you don't like run blocking, and he's like, and he's just stared into the screen and he smiled, which is, I mean, past pro, I asked him, yeah, he asked him.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't like past pro, and he's like,
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, last thing for those of you that are going to be watching until or listen to us because there's only 15 minutes left until game time I want to get you guys on record.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe we'll talk about it because it's the rare with four weeks to go loser go home game Lions I'm on Ross Saint Brown by the way will play he is active Versus Cowboys if you do the numbers loser of this game Might as well just pack it up
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: Who wins?
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know who I got.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_01]: Who wins Simon?
- 54:46[SPEAKER_05]: I suspect Detroit win because they're home.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_01]: Chris?
- 54:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, same.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_03]: I don't trust just and also the trust factor on Dallas is not high with me.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: There is no more a Monday.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: We will talk about Jet Dolphins, the result of that game, and then leading into what could be, which is another loser go home game if they win this one against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_00]: But, tell them.
- 55:23[UNKNOWN]: You
