- 0:01My dad just went to see Openheimen, so it started to make me think
- 0:08I'm just gonna go for it. I'm gonna run with the Barberheimen vibe that's
- 0:13been going on since both Barbie and Openheiman were released the same weekend and the
- 0:20big summer movies being pushed. And give my review about Barbie. For those
- 0:29of you who don't know, I did waste my time studying television film production.
- 0:36So when you take television film production classes, you're taught to look at
- 0:43movies in a certain way. So I'll say that the redeeming parts of Barbie
- 0:54is the cinematography. And you know how they got Barbara lam pretty good,
- 0:59very color a full cute. The jokes that were funny or at least to
- 1:04me, like when Ken said, oh, I'm gonna beat you up,
- 1:11and Ken I can totally clueless on what patriarchy means and when he was researching
- 1:19what it meant showing love to the Indigo girls. But there was some problematic
- 1:26lines for me personally, because here's the thing. There was the line that
- 1:34went something to the effective, oh there was a pregnant Barbie, but oh
- 1:41they thought she was too weird, and God, dis continued and taking issue
- 1:48with that line because of taking the angle of how it came off. It
- 1:57sounds like it's being said from pro abortion, who on their Twitter page puts
- 2:06pro choice feminist in the bio, not realizing how their message comes across.
- 2:16When things are said like if a woman doesn't want to have a kid,
- 2:22she shouldn't have to have one, or oh, a woman should have a
- 2:27career, she shouldn't have to be a mom, it gets in their head.
- 2:35And when I mean getting their head, we're talking to the point where
- 2:38that's part of the reason why women have abortions, and it isn't me blowing
- 2:46smoke. I think that assessment makes sense when another line in the movie was
- 2:53a scene with Will Ferrell and some of the other Mattel executives all of a
- 3:00sudden sinking back, Oh we don't have female CEOs. They wonder why a
- 3:09pregnant Barbie wouldn't go over. Well, so I totally get why my fellow
- 3:15anti abortion would not be cool with the movie. And oh yeah, just
- 3:23when there wasn't enough ammal with that scene, then the pro abortion narrative came
- 3:31out when there was all this excitement, Oh we changed the Constitution, Barbie
- 3:38Land has her autonomy back, and again some would say I'm going overboard and
- 3:46oh, it's just a toy movie, but no, let's keep it real.
- 3:52It was a dig on role being overturned, and even if it wasn't
- 3:58about the pro abortion stuff, it just got confusing because it made me wonder
- 4:04what are they trying to get at Because you have the scenes getting on the
- 4:09subjective death, so it makes you wonder, is this a movie about mortality?
- 4:17Then you had the scene with the creator of Barbies, so it made
- 4:25me wonder is it a movie about perseverance and overcoming setbacks? Yeah, kind
- 4:34of got a little weird for me. There you have it. Those are
- 4:40the thoughts out the top of my head on how I feel about Barbie and
- 4:46until the next One Piece and Chick and Greece.
