- 0:56Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 1:00United We Scan podcast. Welcome back, everybody, Episode
- 1:0741. So today we're going to talk
- 1:11about do, how doing your cases, your case slots and issues,
- 1:20evaluations, a little bit of everything as it's all turning
- 1:24out to be lately. So how was your week, Josh?
- 1:30Not too bad. I've been training Rca's most of
- 1:35the week. We had one that was assigned to
- 1:39my route that's getting it really quickly.
- 1:42And my little work wife, her RCA is not quite picking up her
- 1:48route, but she is a heavy, heavy business route so.
- 1:54We think that was part of the hang up.
- 1:56So they were going to switch the two of them.
- 1:59So I started working with the other RCA on Friday and they
- 2:04called her back in to run parcels on a down route in the
- 2:11middle of the shadow. So hopefully Monday I'll
- 2:16actually get a chance to run her through the whole route so she
- 2:19can actually see where she's going on the route and get her
- 2:22trained up. James, how was your week?
- 2:32Oh, the usual. I had a normal, pretty normal
- 2:37week at the office other than you know, management doing
- 2:41things that were wrong and had to be corrected on and actually
- 2:46had to discuss the trip to door, door, miscellaneous and
- 2:52unscanned parcels to my postmaster after I've already
- 2:56explained it to them before because of the latest thing that
- 3:00management set down about unscanned parcels and getting
- 3:03carriers to lower those numbers. So that's the biggest issue that
- 3:07we have going on around and we will be talking about that later
- 3:10on as part of our issues we're going to be discussing is
- 3:14management's continuing use of just the computers to harass
- 3:19carriers. Yeah, but other than that pretty
- 3:22much an easy week. We did get flat W, flat WSS in
- 3:28and they marked it to be delivered on Saturday, but I
- 3:32felt like not leaving that for my sub on Saturday.
- 3:34So I took it out and literally he had a completely clean case
- 3:38when he got back, no mail put up, no nothing because there was
- 3:41nothing to put up. So I got everything out for him.
- 3:44So that way he didn't have much to do yesterday, but other than
- 3:48that, pretty much standard normal postal week and now we're
- 3:54here on this again. Phil, how was your week?
- 4:00Oh, I'm pretty much like James, except for, you know, my
- 4:06management has the ability to mismanage to the next level.
- 4:10Let's see. We had a carrier out on medical,
- 4:12got his release to return to work on Friday.
- 4:16So they didn't schedule on Friday.
- 4:18They didn't schedule Saturday, but they forced regulars,
- 4:20including myself, in on Saturday and then the preferential son.
- 4:25He was scheduled and he's one of the junior carriers, but he
- 4:29didn't bother coming in because he's a Penn State alumni and
- 4:33Penn State was playing at 7:30 out in Happy Valley, which he
- 4:37could have got to because he's usually done by 1231.
- 4:40O'clock, but he was allowed to call out.
- 4:43And then we scheduled too many people off, so therefore we had
- 4:48two open routes. Then when she asked for
- 4:50volunteers, I said, well, I'm already here helping, so since
- 4:54it's my drop day, I'm not going to help you anymore.
- 4:56Of course that annoyed her. Then, you know, 2 seconds later
- 5:00another carrier came up with the same excuse that you know, I'm
- 5:03working my drop day. So I volunteered enough.
- 5:07And I'm telling you, you know what?
- 5:10By time she got to the third person, she goes, if you're not
- 5:13going to help, I'm going to assign people to to to help
- 5:16these open routes and all you heard from my case was good
- 5:20luck. And doesn't the MOU state that
- 5:26you can't be used if you're already working your relief day?
- 5:29Well, I don't know, but because since we don't have a steward in
- 5:32there, nobody's no, nobody's posted it up on the board.
- 5:37I gotcha. Gotcha.
- 5:38But I do. I do know an asshole that has a
- 5:40copy of it at their case. And to answer your question,
- 5:45yes, you're they're not supposed to use you on your relief day
- 5:49because you're already making overtime.
- 5:52Yep, Yep. Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 5:57So other than that, I mean you know, regular day in
- 6:01Westchester, you know? Plus we had that storm blow
- 6:05through here so it was nothing. Nothing like trying to put mail
- 6:08in the mailbox when the 40 mile an hour gust comes along.
- 6:11Oh yeah, isn't that fun? Oh, airmail.
- 6:17You got hit by that? That's like when we get
- 6:20something rolling in off the lake and I'm up on 23, whether
- 6:24I'm lakeside or just across the street, you get that gust of
- 6:27wind and Yep, there goes the mail.
- 6:31Yeah, I know that one. Yeah.
- 6:34Luckily I'm far enough, was far enough inland that I didn't get
- 6:38wet, but we did have some wind, but nothing major.
- 6:43So thankfully this time. But like my wife said, you know,
- 6:4920 some years ago, no one expected Hugo to come this Far
- 6:52East or this far wet inland, so I was ready for it.
- 6:58Well, if you have a wind problem, just take some vino.
- 7:05Different wind mustard on it. Oh, I don't need hot dogs.
- 7:12OK, a burger with mustard on it. Oh you heathen.
- 7:15Oh yeah, Steve, catch up Mayonnaise.
- 7:18No. No, all right, My week went
- 7:23pretty much the same except for I did not run my OX route one
- 7:27day this week. A regular took it out yesterday.
- 7:31Because they wanted to leave me to help the newer guy who was
- 7:34running a different route for the very first time.
- 7:37And so, yeah, And by the time I got back and checked where he
- 7:43was, he was in the last half hour of the route.
- 7:45I'm like, yeah, he's good. He called me once and that was
- 7:50it. So let's just hope we don't run
- 7:53him off come Christmas time. And we got the official word
- 7:58that the route is now considered vacant, so hopefully it should
- 8:03be posted to bid this coming week.
- 8:06Fingers crossed. Woohoo.
- 8:09And I need you to steer clear of that RCA so you don't run them
- 8:11off like the rest of them, yeah. Yeah, and what else?
- 8:19You know you're coming to when you really bite yourself and you
- 8:22know. In in the foot Here, shoot
- 8:24yourself in the foot as an RCA still holding down a route that
- 8:29six days a week that is 53.36 standard hours and you do it in
- 8:3444.57 hours the first week and 48.47 hours the second week.
- 8:45Yeah, I bet my I shot myself in the foot on that one.
- 8:54Yeah, you shouldn't be doing that.
- 8:56You shouldn't be running them off.
- 9:01Everybody in Texas since the Cowboys lost.
- 9:08Ouch. What we save another team now
- 9:13down there? You guys ready to get into this
- 9:16stuff? Go.
- 9:19Go for it. All right.
- 9:21So the first topic we're going to discuss is case slot
- 9:26situations. A lot of management has been
- 9:30trying to lower the number of pieces of equipment in their
- 9:34offices. So one of the things I wanted to
- 9:39talk about and this actually came up in my office as well,
- 9:42was the separations in your case and how small they have to be.
- 9:48So for row carriers out of the M 38342.211 says that cases will
- 9:58be set up generally with two inch separations and two
- 10:02deliveries per separations. Managers may vary the size of
- 10:06the separations and the number of deliveries per separation on
- 10:09specific routes depending upon the volume and characteristics
- 10:13of mail normally received by those routes.
- 10:17So this is listed under the one bundle system.
- 10:23Now carriers that case their DPS every day would be considered A1
- 10:28bundle route. On the other hand, if you take
- 10:33the DPS on the side, you're A2 bundle system, so you would have
- 10:38to be. It says on that 1/2 inch slots,
- 10:42but because it's rural you should stick with the one inch
- 10:46slots per address so you have enough space if you decide you
- 10:50need to case your mail. Your guys's thoughts?
- 10:59I have to agree it should be at at minimum one inch slot per
- 11:05address. Problem there is though is there
- 11:09is allegedly no equipment for the cases of growth the post
- 11:17office few years back started. Eliminating and selling off or
- 11:25scrapping unused to quit you know case equipment.
- 11:30So it's hard and far and few between now to get replacement
- 11:36or additional which is part of my problem is I had I need at
- 11:41least 1/2 wing. I already have 4 full cases and
- 11:46not enough. There's not enough slots in it.
- 11:49I need at least. Two more shelves, Yeah, a
- 11:54minute. I have like 80 somewhere between
- 11:5780 and 100 addresses that are in the edit book, say half inch or
- 12:03I have 0 space for them because there's no room for them on the
- 12:09case or they like some of these dresses.
- 12:12I don't case them because it's either a large company and I put
- 12:17it tub it out or. The One St. in one of my
- 12:21curbside neighborhoods, the city wanted to buy out like 30 to 40
- 12:27houses. They're in a floodplain that
- 12:30they're just demolishing, and they're never going to build
- 12:32anything there again. So I don't have to worry about
- 12:35having a slot for them on the case.
- 12:37And even with that, I still am short.
- 12:43But it's a matter of trying to get the equipment.
- 12:47They keep saying there is none to be had.
- 12:53Which again demonstrates the foresight, forethought and every
- 12:59other force that management predictably operates under in
- 13:04regards to growth in areas. Where are you going to get this
- 13:09equipment from if you're selling it to the junk yards?
- 13:12Oh, we don't need this. As long as they're developing
- 13:16and building, you're going to need it.
- 13:19I hate to tell you that the housing is not going to go away,
- 13:22folks. It's just increasing.
- 13:24So you know, they better come up with an idea of some kind of
- 13:28game plan in regards to making equipment available and and God
- 13:34knows what it's going to cost you because it's going to be so
- 13:37costly. You're going to be looking at
- 13:41five $6000 for somebody to fabricate 11 centerpiece one
- 13:46wing. They all of these new delivery
- 13:52centers where they are taking all the routes and putting them
- 13:57into one under one roof are getting brand new cases.
- 14:02Yeah, but they're cheap flimsy plastic.
- 14:06No? I saw nice metal ones in the
- 14:07pictures. From the there, it's it's in
- 14:11Alc's book. It's similar to what we have,
- 14:15but it's blue and they're brand new, which should in theory
- 14:21alleviate a lot of old equipment or the offices that are staying
- 14:27where they're at in the interim, but we will see.
- 14:36Yeah. My thing is when I was going
- 14:37through this last time with the cases and we kind of talked
- 14:40about this in our post chat typing earlier is, you know, I
- 14:46have a very seasonal route. I have a lot of people that have
- 14:48their summer homes on Lake Huron and the condos and a lot of them
- 14:54don't have mailboxes and she still has them on the case even
- 14:59though there's not even a post there.
- 15:01So I'm. Gonna be in the process of
- 15:03taking those off cuz that confuses me #1.
- 15:06And if I'm having to train a new sub and you're getting a piece
- 15:09of mail for this address and these guys are worse than
- 15:14they're just gonna keep driving because they don't see that
- 15:16number and then they're gonna miss the next ones.
- 15:19So cuz their mind's focused on that one number that doesn't
- 15:22have a mailbox. So yeah, I'm going to take those
- 15:26off of there. I mean you know it's not a big
- 15:28deal if somebody does put a box up and re adding it down the
- 15:31road, I'm not worried about it. And then my businesses, my
- 15:36CBU's, my first three CBU's, my businesses get hardly any mail.
- 15:40So they don't need single one inch slots between all for all
- 15:46those businesses. I'm putting those down to half
- 15:49inch. And but then I have the one
- 15:51customer we all have that one customer that, you know, you're
- 15:54literally grabbing handfuls of DPS out of the tray until they
- 15:58don't have anymore. Finally, why does he have 1/2
- 16:01inch slot? You know this type of stuff that
- 16:07I'm just trying to fix and it's just annoying me because I keep
- 16:10finding more and more and more just leads us right into doing
- 16:14your edit books right. Uhhuh.
- 16:17Getting them correct and making sure that even your slot sizes
- 16:21are listed in your edit book. And making sure that you know
- 16:28the ones that you don't want on the case, have the the hashtag
- 16:31or the pound sign and you know. And if you want to put them back
- 16:35on the case, make sure you got to put the red mark through that
- 16:38so it gets changed the next time you put your edit book in.
- 16:42Here's the biggest thing with edit books.
- 16:44Especially if you have a curbside that goes to a
- 16:46hardship, or was a hardship now a curbside, make sure you're
- 16:50changing that status from curb to other or vice versa in your
- 16:55edit books. Because if it's not done there,
- 16:58it's not going to be correct on the mapping.
- 17:01And even if you change it, adjust it on the mapping, it's
- 17:03not going to save till the next time unless it's fixed in the
- 17:07edit book and that he makes a huge difference, especially if
- 17:12you have a hardship now that's a dismount.
- 17:15At the house, it's not a curbside box.
- 17:17I mean that's that makes a difference for you on your
- 17:21evaluations. Hardship that becomes a
- 17:25delivery. Yeah, Yep.
- 17:30Because you could have different footage if you're delivering
- 17:33parcels to that address that could actually benefit you more
- 17:36than just the hardship dismount that you have every day.
- 17:39Oh yeah, depending on where the front door is.
- 17:43And depending on where that mailbox and where you would
- 17:45leave a package is, I know there's one on my primary route,
- 17:48his mailbox is on the back porch just right inside the railing.
- 17:55But if I they were to have a package, I'm taking it all the
- 17:58way to the door another 5-10 feet away.
- 18:02So yeah, that's type of stuff. Does make a difference.
- 18:06Now, out of curiosity, Kristen, how do you enter that on your
- 18:09scanner when you deliver a hardship case?
- 18:15If they have a package. Well, no.
- 18:18There's hardship cases where you take the mails at the door too.
- 18:23So if you have a hardship case for just mail, how do you enter
- 18:28that in your scanner? If you have to make more that,
- 18:32it should automatically be in there with the measurement
- 18:36otherwise. Authorized this meant.
- 18:38Authorized this mode if you have to make more than one trip.
- 18:43And for a parcel, I actually scanned them to the door.
- 18:47So do I. OK, all right.
- 18:49Just, you know, said it. The audience knows.
- 18:52Yes. And yeah, cuz that's, you know,
- 19:00it's, I didn't see the thing about CBU's.
- 19:02It just popped up in the chat there.
- 19:05Out of my 13 CBU's, eight of them I can pull right up to and
- 19:08service them from the truck. So that actually is kind of
- 19:11nice, that is. That is nice.
- 19:19I used to cover a route that was had that ability mine.
- 19:23The closest I can get is 3 feet away from it.
- 19:27Yeah, I've yeah, I only have two locations I actually have to
- 19:31dismount for the boxes and one condo has 3C BU's and the other
- 19:38one only has two. That was the only two I got a
- 19:41dismount for. The two that I could pull right
- 19:45up to if I got close enough to service them.
- 19:50I don't have enough clearance to open the doors.
- 19:54Gotcha. Yeah, mine are right on the
- 19:57street, so I can just pull right up to it.
- 20:00All right, this one actually came to us in the chat.
- 20:03We talked about this last week. It's they said what can be done
- 20:07about an RCA doing the rec scans properly.
- 20:11For example, end load while still at the truck and clocking
- 20:14out before casing, curtailed mail, not using unscanned
- 20:19parcel, etc. He's they're covering a route
- 20:24for two months while the regular is out.
- 20:28Ouch. Written in your current resident
- 20:33RCA? Well, we're looking for a new
- 20:38one as you're going regular to join us.
- 20:42Yeah? Can we start this one out?
- 20:44Right, all right. As an RCA, especially if you're
- 20:48holding a route down or running the same route for a length of
- 20:51time, I should say we don't technically don't have hold
- 20:54downs in this craft, but on that note, it's.
- 21:01End load is when you return the conveyance back inside from
- 21:05where you got it. That's when you hit your end
- 21:07load. Your load times are measured in
- 21:10straight time to be added in to the evaluation, clocking out.
- 21:20You clock out when you're done with everything.
- 21:23You hit PM casing. If you're casing up mail, that
- 21:27was for the next day. Or if you're doing a second trip
- 21:33but you do not clock out, clock out until you are done for the
- 21:39day. We do not work off the clock at
- 21:44all. Ever.
- 21:51Kristen, in the case of your like, right now you're covering
- 21:55your route. Yes.
- 21:57You get back. You finish all of your duties in
- 22:03office for return to duty, yes, or your end of shift, they say.
- 22:08Kristen, I need you to go out and help Route 12.
- 22:14Do you clock out on the scanner for that route and then go to
- 22:18the green card or is that stay under PM casing?
- 22:23Me personally, I clock out and then do a green card.
- 22:30It could be done either way, Union the union.
- 22:35Has I know it would be green card either way, but again all
- 22:41this size doesn't affect me so I don't know and I know I may be
- 22:47asked at one point from an art one of these Rca's.
- 22:51The union has stated that if you are going to go help out on
- 22:56another route, you go into PM casing on your scanner and then
- 23:02you change the route on the scanner, go do that other route,
- 23:07then come back and then clock out.
- 23:13You don't don't clock out until you're done for the day, but you
- 23:16put it on a green card. The PM casing stops the clock on
- 23:22the route, so your routes no longer adding time to the
- 23:27evaluation, but you are still on the clock in the scanner and
- 23:31that adjusts with your green card time that you're putting on
- 23:35the green card. So the green card time starts
- 23:37when you hit PM casing and stops when you clock out for the day.
- 23:42That's what the union said to do.
- 23:45Most the time I've already hit clocked out when I'm told I need
- 23:48to go back out, so that's where my issue on that is is.
- 23:53I hit clock out, and then I'm getting ready to hang the
- 23:55scanner up and I get oh wait, I need you to go do this.
- 23:59Yeah. And that's when you say, oh, you
- 24:04should have told me 5 minutes ago, I'm already clocked out.
- 24:12I'm already out the door. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:15Life of an RCA still. Yeah, you're a pushover.
- 24:23I can't say no just yet. I still got to wait that one
- 24:27out. I'm counting down.
- 24:33While you're on return to du time go hunt for your manager,
- 24:37do it on the on the clock time and find your manager and be
- 24:41like is there any other work for me?
- 24:43And when she says yes, go out and help this route then switch
- 24:46over to PM casing. Now you're helping your
- 24:48evaluation and staying in the clocked in state.
- 24:51Yeah, yeah. Or you clock out and you sneak
- 24:56out real quick, you know. Yeah, I tend to do that.
- 25:01But when I can, usually, yeah. I don't know what that place
- 25:08would do without me. Honestly, it'd fall apart.
- 25:12Next item for discussion. So Saturday started the sign up
- 25:17period for the relief day work list and the Sunday volunteer
- 25:23list for Amazon for Rcas and offices that have that.
- 25:28Would you guys like to discuss what it means for a carrier to
- 25:32choose to be on the relief day work list versus not being on
- 25:36the relief day work list? Well, correction it was last
- 25:40Saturday. Well past Saturday, so it's
- 25:45still up, but it's coming down next week, this Friday.
- 25:49Yeah, because Friday the 29th, yeah.
- 25:51So we want to wanted to just put top touch that topic really
- 25:56quick again and remind people why you might want to or might
- 26:00not want to sign up for the release date work.
- 26:05Let's see. Bill says no.
- 26:10All right, I'm going to chime in and explain the difference for
- 26:13being on it and not being on it. If you sign it, you are going to
- 26:19get called first. To come in, when your sub is
- 26:24needed for something else, it should rotate.
- 26:30By seniority it should rotate. Bullshit.
- 26:36It should, but you know when you're supposed.
- 26:40To. It's supposed to, supposedly.
- 26:44But when you have one RCA for 5K routes, everybody works anyways.
- 26:53So, and then if you are on it, as well as being the first to be
- 26:59called in, you get the choice of DACA 3, which is 1/2 day's pay
- 27:08and a next day, or DACA 5 which is over time 150% for the day.
- 27:20With no other compensation, you have to work.
- 27:23You work 6 days through. Correct.
- 27:28If you are not on it, you can only get a deck of three half
- 27:34day's pay and a next day if you are forced to come in not being
- 27:39on the relief day work list. Unless you have uninformed
- 27:44management and you write 150% on your 4240.
- 27:48And they push it through. Your management is good like
- 27:54that. Hey, have you back.
- 27:57And see, here's and here's the bummer part is I will it comes
- 28:04down Friday. I will still be in RCA when it
- 28:08comes down and I have no Sup. So, yeah, well.
- 28:17Well, we have a response response about H routes can't
- 28:20work it, but they still can sign.
- 28:22We're released a work list. Yes, yes, they can.
- 28:27Our H route carrier did sign it, yes.
- 28:30And there's a possibility with the evaluations coming out that
- 28:35your route could go up to a J route or a K route, depending on
- 28:40how things work out with with their nondisclosed system.
- 28:47So we'll get into that in a bit. Yeah.
- 28:51Now also on the relief day work list.
- 28:54If you're on it and you don't want to work a particular day,
- 28:59you still have to work it and then then remove yourself from
- 29:03the list and you can't go back on until the next posting for
- 29:07relief they work with. Correct, you can go.
- 29:10You can sign on to it twice a year.
- 29:13But you want. If you are on it, you can have
- 29:15yourself removed at any time. It would just be at the end of
- 29:18that is at the end of the pay period or is it the end of the
- 29:22week? So if you're already scheduled
- 29:24to work it, you still have to work it.
- 29:26Pay period. Pay period.
- 29:28OK, and if you want to have your release day off even though
- 29:36you're on the relief day work list, take the Friday before
- 29:41off. If you take the Friday before
- 29:44off, they cannot make you work your relief day.
- 29:48Or the Monday it. Just it has, presuming you up a
- 29:51Saturday, it has to be. You have to take leave in it
- 29:57adjacent to the relief day, yes. And that can be sick leave,
- 30:04annual leave or next day, yes. Or on a 3971 and saying you
- 30:15absolutely have to have that day off.
- 30:18Yep. So before we go into our next
- 30:23topic, I did want to make an announcement.
- 30:26They have just announced that the next wave of free COVID
- 30:30tests have come out. So they're still free to order
- 30:35through the Postal Service. So it would behoove you for
- 30:38extra scans on your route to tell your customers to order
- 30:42their four free COVID tests. I know it's a pain in the butt,
- 30:46but those scans benefit your route.
- 30:49So you could help your route by helping convince your customers
- 30:53whether they want them or not. Just say, hey, they're free,
- 30:58they help me out, and you can do with them what you want, but
- 31:02they're free. So they don't pay for them, but
- 31:05it benefits you in the scan count, so it's a good idea to
- 31:08try and convince people to order them on your route if you want
- 31:12to help your route out a little bit, carry your discretion. 75%
- 31:16of my route is retirees. They'll order them anyways,
- 31:22yeah. Or they've been getting them
- 31:24this whole time through their health plans, so just send them
- 31:28out randomly and that benefits your route completely.
- 31:34So, all right, next one. We we we can also discuss my
- 31:38options at the end of the podcast.
- 31:43That's a big carrier discretion there, folks.
- 31:47Yeah, we'll do that in the Post Show.
- 31:49We'll do that in the Post Show. And that that just means that if
- 31:53people want to participate, they need to actually come and and
- 31:57listen to us record this live on our Discord channel #shameless
- 32:01plug. It's OK.
- 32:06It's OK, one of the. The website action will open up
- 32:11tomorrow to start ordering them, so once this podcast goes live,
- 32:17they'll be open to order. Yes, Monday the 25th, yes.
- 32:25Bearing that there is no editing issues, correct?
- 32:30And if there are, then then the ordering will definitely be open
- 32:33by that time. It was a good thing I put the
- 32:36date in there, huh? Yeah.
- 32:39Because nobody knew yet. Tomorrow is the 25th.
- 32:45And my wife writing my birthday is on Friday so.
- 32:49Shut up My birthday Saturday. My birthday Saturday.
- 32:54The 30th. Yeah, well, we wish you a happy
- 32:58early birthday on this podcast, and then you could tell us all
- 33:01about how your birthday went on the next podcast.
- 33:05It'll start with a pound of Habersett Scrabble night.
- 33:10And I will miss next week because I will not be here.
- 33:15What? What?
- 33:17We'll have to talk to our editors to make sure he actually
- 33:20remembers. Unless, I mean, I can try to be
- 33:25on, but I'll be at the machine shop for a concert in Flint, so
- 33:30I don't think it would. Yeah, you wouldn't hear me too
- 33:32well. I think you need to get your
- 33:35priorities straight. Yeah, I'm taking some me time
- 33:38for a Sunday evening. That's my priority.
- 33:42You deserves this. She's working six days a week,
- 33:45every week. She deserves it.
- 33:50So. All right.
- 33:51Yeah, since discussions have gotten very lively in multiple
- 33:59places, not just on this podcast, but in the groups that
- 34:02we work with, we need to talk about why carriers need to be
- 34:10involved now instead of just when it's close to national.
- 34:15Why is it so important that we get people stepping up now,
- 34:19getting involved now, going to meetings, going to conventions,
- 34:23going to boosters, things like that?
- 34:25Why is it so important for them to start getting involved right
- 34:29this moment? Bill, you're you're the one that
- 34:35I would pegged to be the big one to talk about this.
- 34:38Why do they need to be involved now?
- 34:41Let's start off with the fact that you know if you don't get
- 34:45to know the delegates, you don't know who's representing you.
- 34:49I'll take one of our podcast members.
- 34:53Maybe if you went to a local meeting you might notice the Dr.
- 34:56showing up an hour late and remember they're still getting
- 35:00paid the time and the travel to that local meeting.
- 35:06Let's let's get involved because of the fact that if you are
- 35:08involved, you'll find out who the retirees are and how long
- 35:13they've been retired and. What input they have in
- 35:17Pennsylvania, we have several good retirees, but we have
- 35:20another 20 plus to take up positions that don't represent
- 35:24the craft anymore, have not represented the craft for years
- 35:27and wouldn't know an MDD scanner if you stuck in their face.
- 35:32They aren't familiar with the rec system because they've been
- 35:34retired that long. You want to be involved now
- 35:39because you want to select delegates who are going to
- 35:41represent or maybe even yourself volunteer to be a delegate so
- 35:45you can represent the craft, the the problem with this union and
- 35:51it. One of the easiest ways to
- 35:53examine this is that this is a pay to play type situation and
- 35:58and the easy example that I can give you is if you go back over
- 36:02the last 10 years and look at all the people.
- 36:06At the National Convention on the selected committee, Finance
- 36:11Committee, the appeals committee, the the the tellers
- 36:14committee, you're going to find out it's the same people over
- 36:18and over and over again. And a lot of them have nothing
- 36:23to do with the daily trials and errors that we go through in the
- 36:28course of the day as a carrier. That includes people in the NSS
- 36:33and people at the state level. It's pretty apparent in the
- 36:39state of Pennsylvania that our entire state board is basically
- 36:46a mirror of the national board and to to justify that comment,
- 36:54I can say that every time we go to a convention we hear this
- 36:58this saying to better reflect. And align ourselves with the
- 37:05national board. We're changing this language
- 37:10this way. We're changing this language
- 37:12that way. We want to align ourselves with
- 37:14that. This is why we have different
- 37:16state. So that you can do your own
- 37:19thing. You can make up your own mind.
- 37:21You can dictate where your state constitutions represent the
- 37:26carriers, not the national board.
- 37:29We we don't reflect them. Remember folks?
- 37:32They work for us, not the other way around.
- 37:38Yeah, I can relate on for what Bill was saying too about the
- 37:42state board and aligning languages, aligning more with
- 37:47national board, it's quite similar in my state as well.
- 37:51Now, I can understand aligning some things to be with the
- 37:55national board, but you can't align everything because each
- 38:00state is different. For instance, here in Michigan
- 38:03we deal with a ton of snow, especially in our northern
- 38:06portions. I'm sure Kristen has dealt with
- 38:092-3 feet of snow in her area plenty of times, whereas in
- 38:13Texas you got to deal with three or four inches of of sand or
- 38:18dust or things like that, or you have to deal with a lot of
- 38:21tornadoes in Oklahoma or Kansas, places like that.
- 38:26Each state is a small microcosm of the Union as a whole, but we
- 38:34do have different things that we deal with in each state and
- 38:38different things that we deal with on a national basis.
- 38:42It's just like with our country. Our national government sets
- 38:48down a primary example, and then the states create their own that
- 38:53matches but also supersedes the national.
- 38:59There's a lot of things that are different in each state.
- 39:02It's the same for the union. So we need to make sure that
- 39:09everybody's getting involved, getting their voice heard,
- 39:12voting, getting involved as a delegate, stepping up to be a
- 39:17local steward in their office. You're more than welcome to tell
- 39:20them that it's because of this podcast that you became a
- 39:23steward. We'd be appreciative of that.
- 39:26Things like that. You know, doing your duty as a
- 39:30union member, the union is not here for you.
- 39:36The union is you, along with every other craft member across
- 39:43the board, whether they're dues paying or non dues paying.
- 39:47It's the same union and we need to step up now, get involved now
- 39:55so we know what's coming. When I go to my county meeting,
- 40:00because I only have a county, I don't have a region like some
- 40:03areas I have a county. I see 8910 people of the 2222
- 40:11hundred we have in the county. Those nine or ten people being
- 40:17involved would be better delegates than the other 30 that
- 40:23are involved. That's what you need to do to be
- 40:28involved. Going to your boosters, your
- 40:32state convention, going to your regional convention.
- 40:36Expand your mind as to who's actually being involved in this
- 40:39union. There are some people that go to
- 40:42those events that just go because it's an event to go to
- 40:45and they're paid to go. But there are some people that
- 40:48go because they actually care about this craft and you'll
- 40:52notice them in the audience. They're the ones sitting there,
- 40:55paying attention, taking notes, learning, figuring out what's
- 40:59going on. Those are the people you want to
- 41:02know. Those are the people you want to
- 41:03listen to because they are actually paying attention to
- 41:05what's going on. But being involved doesn't mean
- 41:10you have to go to the meetings, doesn't mean you have to go to
- 41:13the conventions. But being involved in knowing
- 41:16what is going on in this union makes you a better union member
- 41:23and as we always say, a well informed carrier scares
- 41:29management. And a well informed carrier
- 41:35gears, the national board, you know, we know a lot more about
- 41:45what's going on than most carriers and a lot of board
- 41:50members do. I've asked questions to board
- 41:53members, but they couldn't answer or they didn't want to
- 41:58answer. I'll get back to you on that.
- 42:02Send me an e-mail and I'll get to an answer.
- 42:05Yeah, let me look into it. And then they won't get back to
- 42:08you. We'll get back to you.
- 42:12We'll find an answer for you. That's what we do as union
- 42:17members. We help each other out.
- 42:22And and if I can be a little controversial here, you always
- 42:27are. Ladies and gentlemen, it If
- 42:32you're listening to the podcast and you don't know what to do or
- 42:37how to do about situations in your office, OK this podcast and
- 42:44other podcast, the national website roleinformation.net.
- 42:49I mean there there are plenty of resources out there for you to
- 42:52glean the information, but what really gets me is that in my
- 42:58office often the biggest complainers are the ones who who
- 43:03aren't involved, whether they're union or non union, the ones who
- 43:07have the biggest rights. The most bitches about the post
- 43:12office or the union are the ones who aren't involved if you want
- 43:17change. You have to step up.
- 43:20You can't wait for somebody else to step up because it won't
- 43:23happen and you may not have the personality that we have here on
- 43:29on this podcast. It definitely would scare me if
- 43:33anybody had any more personality than me and James.
- 43:36But. But the fact of the matter is,
- 43:39is that you have to step up. The first person who's going to
- 43:44protect your rights is you. You do.
- 43:49And even you know if you can make it to, you know, if your
- 43:54state has booster meetings and stuff like that, I am really
- 43:57bummed that I can't go. That is just, it really bothers
- 44:03me. I to the point I am like about
- 44:06ready to reach out to Rcas and other nearby offices to see if
- 44:09any of them are available that weekend because I enjoy going
- 44:14because this is more information that you know.
- 44:18Could hit possibly has come out since in between, you know
- 44:22there's different seminars, there's different speakers you
- 44:26know it's and then hearing about what's going on in other offices
- 44:30and kind of getting idea here, there and the other and they
- 44:34usually do a Q&A with the Dr. and the Adr's.
- 44:41They have a presentation. So yeah, it's a lot of
- 44:44information and I'm really bummed I can't go next month.
- 44:48So, OK, I'm you have it back now for our state booster, we have a
- 44:55person coming from the Better Business Bureau to come talk
- 44:59with us. We're having the district
- 45:02manager from Michigan to coming. So I'm sure we're going to get
- 45:05more cities carrier stats like the last one we went to.
- 45:11There's going to be a Steward topics section.
- 45:14Of course there's a Rex section. Don't know why they're even
- 45:17bothering a dispute process, bidding light blue 2080 and
- 45:252240, and then they're having a Q&A that'll be fun.
- 45:31And don't forget the usual stuff, the pack and legislative
- 45:34updates. It's going to be the 14th and
- 45:3915th of 2023 at Great Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, MI. 13th
- 45:49and 14th of October, which is after the new evaluations go
- 45:54into effect and they're going to talk about disputes.
- 45:58Yeah, OK. Yeah.
- 46:00OK. Thanks for thanks for that
- 46:05segue. What was?
- 46:09It real quick. Obviously the other reason to
- 46:11get involved now if you want to be involved and you want to try
- 46:17and be a delegate, this is how you would get your name out
- 46:20there for people who are involved and do vote to see who
- 46:27you are and that you are willing to participate.
- 46:34Yeah, I've only been involved in the union for what 2-2 years
- 46:39now, 2 1/2 years and within those two years I went from
- 46:45bottom of the list to being a delegate.
- 46:50It's it's not difficult if you do it the right way and get in
- 46:53there and get known to people. Now we are working on getting
- 46:59lists for the state. We're working on getting lists
- 47:04for every state of delegates that are going to be involved
- 47:07for people. I'm going to rely on people from
- 47:11every state to listen to this podcast.
- 47:14We're going to put it up in our podcast group when the delegate
- 47:17lists come out to help assist carriers on figuring out who is
- 47:22who. It's an informal list.
- 47:25We are not suggesting that you actually vote for any specific
- 47:28person, but we'll let your people from your state explain
- 47:34who they would vote for on those sections.
- 47:36But we'll put that out when those come out.
- 47:39Just the FYI is that coming up, but getting involved now is the
- 47:43most important part. So now that we skipped the segue
- 47:47and went right back to that other topic, the next one is
- 47:53waiting on evaluations. They're coming out this Friday,
- 47:58slash Saturday, depending on when they finally tell
- 48:01management, hey, it's open. It's supposed to come out on the
- 48:0430th. So what are our hopes out of
- 48:09this evaluation now? I know from previous
- 48:12conversations with our panelists here that we're across the board
- 48:17on what we think is going to actually happen.
- 48:20You have the top end, which is myself thinking that a lot of
- 48:24people are actually going to go up with this next evaluation.
- 48:28You have the bottom side, Bill, who thinks it's just going to
- 48:30get worse and everybody else is in between.
- 48:36I did not say that I want a retraction on that.
- 48:44I'm going to say, OK, I'll retraction that you're going to
- 48:47send me fam mail. Make sure it's certified.
- 48:49I will. Not certify a bull.
- 48:55Same thing. With return receipt.
- 49:00Darn it, get it right. Oh yeah, I'm sending.
- 49:04I'll give him a receipt. All right.
- 49:06I'll give him a WWE receipt. No, big boy.
- 49:11Oh dear Lord. No, I I I said it's gonna be
- 49:14marginal because of the fact that in between the many mail
- 49:18surveys people will pick up, you know, doing their scans and
- 49:22being aware of what the, you know, look for.
- 49:25In regards that are mailed during the mini mail survey
- 49:27which won't affect that much because it's a two week sampling
- 49:32that is factored into the previous 52 weeks.
- 49:35Therefore, there's not going to be that much pain.
- 49:40And I said, but most people will go up a little bit marginally.
- 49:47OK, I issue my retraction then. OK.
- 49:52So how about you, Kristen? What do you think?
- 49:58I kind of think it's a little bit of both.
- 50:02I mean I can see some of these, you know these routes that we're
- 50:06doing all the scans and doing everything prior to the first
- 50:10one are probably going to probably stay roughly around the
- 50:14same. Now some of them that weren't
- 50:17doing them drop big. You know, maybe a little bit of
- 50:20an increase. You gotta remember this is only,
- 50:23I mean with a 52 rolling week, so you're only got 6 or you know
- 50:27six months of new data. I think any of those to see real
- 50:31change will have to be the next many mail survey.
- 50:36So I think you know it could be across the board it.
- 50:41How about you? Josh I'm similar to Kristen.
- 50:46I think there's going to be some bounce back.
- 50:49But it's not going to be a huge jump up because for the same
- 50:56reason it's only 26 weeks worth of new data where people were
- 51:00actually doing the scans versus the 1st 26 weeks where they
- 51:07weren't. Yeah, I'm.
- 51:11I'm positive that the people that weren't doing scans before
- 51:16and started doing the scans after are going to go up.
- 51:19They're not going to go up the full amount.
- 51:21They're only going to go up partially, maybe at most 1/3 to
- 51:27maybe between a third and a half on that because they don't have
- 51:34the full six months in there between the two evaluations
- 51:38because of all the back and forth over what the evaluations
- 51:41were after the mini mail survey. So there's a smaller window for
- 51:47this mini mail survey that they were actually doing a lot of the
- 51:51proper scans and some of them were probably missed at the
- 51:54beginning of it as they were learning this stuff on the fly,
- 51:57things like that. But I do believe that a lot of
- 52:01carriers that drop significantly will bounce back a little bit.
- 52:06On the other hand, I do know that there are some routes that
- 52:11will go down this next evaluation.
- 52:15And the case in point is a route I know of that was gutted when
- 52:22they did a cutback on it from an overburdened 48 down to a 43
- 52:28just before the 1st mini mail survey.
- 52:32And so since they were using the data from before the six months
- 52:35before on that route, he continued at a higher rate.
- 52:41But I think it's going to drop again this evaluation and
- 52:45there's nothing that we can do about it.
- 52:47There's nothing he can do about it.
- 52:48So there are going to be some that go down.
- 52:51There's no if the other butts about it.
- 52:53But I believe a majority of the routes that didn't change
- 52:56anything will be going up. So I'm going to be the +1 here.
- 53:02Well, I'll put it out there that I'll take any bets that 66% of
- 53:06our routes don't go up. Any takers I could see?
- 53:17Maybe, yeah. No, I was gonna say 10% of that
- 53:2066 maybe. But yeah, no, I ain't gonna even
- 53:25try on that one. So now I've been positive.
- 53:32So now I'm going to go into our hostile work environment.
- 53:36Discussion management has been getting on carriers for
- 53:44unscanned parcels especially during the mini mail survey and
- 53:49after it. I know a lot of officers had a
- 53:52stand up talk about the unscanned parcels after the mini
- 53:55mail survey or during depending on when they're district
- 54:00managers got it out to their postmasters.
- 54:02And even though some some local managers deny that they got it
- 54:06from their boss, there's too many consistencies across the
- 54:10nation for it to have been just a single individual saying we
- 54:15need to talk about this. But carriers are getting
- 54:20harassed just for the data on the computers.
- 54:26Management's not going out and checking.
- 54:29Management is not doing their job to verify whether they have
- 54:33it or not. They're harassing the carriers
- 54:37and I need to remind every single carrier out there.
- 54:43It is management's job to prove your guilt, not your job to
- 54:49prove your innocence. Again, management has to prove
- 54:56your guilt. You don't have to prove your
- 55:00innocence, but they're going to harass you.
- 55:06They're going to get on you. They're going to say your
- 55:08numbers are too high. Because we benchmarked this and
- 55:13benchmarking is wrong, especially with the data that we
- 55:18have. You need.
- 55:23I would please tell them to kiss my ass.
- 55:28Or you could be a little bit more political about it.
- 55:32No, no. Just tell them to kiss my ass.
- 55:37Yeah, because they have no proof that you didn't have those
- 55:41unscanned parcels. They don't have proof that you
- 55:45didn't have so many parcels that day that you scanned.
- 55:52They don't have proof that you didn't take something to the
- 55:56door multiple times. You didn't.
- 56:01They don't have proof that it took you 9 trips to do an
- 56:05authorized dismount because of the heavy mail volume you had.
- 56:10The harassment needs to stop, and it takes grievances to do
- 56:16that. What do we do, Bill?
- 56:19File file file. And file some more.
- 56:28Then cut down another tree and file some more.
- 56:31Well, you let ladies and gentlemen, you got to remember
- 56:34if they're going to pull you in for a PDI on these situations.
- 56:38First of all, make sure you have your local union representative
- 56:42with you. Second of all, remember this is
- 56:45just an interview. It's a It's a predetermination
- 56:49to see if there's any further action required.
- 56:53On the disciplinary level, so it it's, you know when I tell
- 56:58people, when I used to tell people as a steward about PB
- 57:02I's, I just tell them, you know, yes.
- 57:03No, don't elaborate on any answers, don't make things up,
- 57:07don't lie, don't cheat, don't steal.
- 57:10Just get it done and you walk away from them, you know.
- 57:13And if if it goes on you know in the future, then you know we
- 57:17have a concern. But.
- 57:19PDI is just an investigation to see if there's warranted action
- 57:23for disciplinary procedures, so don't sweat it if they're not
- 57:28going to sit there and go through everything in your
- 57:30hamper and qualify it as a parcel or a flat.
- 57:34If it doesn't go into your case like a a letter or a flat
- 57:38carrier. Discretion.
- 57:40It's an unscanned parcel, somebody commented our post.
- 57:49Our postmaster is going around and checking but limited us to
- 57:52five. There is no limit.
- 57:56That's benchmark. There never will be.
- 57:58That's benchmarking. And there is a grievance that a
- 58:04lot of district representatives have put out about benchmarking.
- 58:09And you can actually grieve that because management is
- 58:13unilaterally deciding that this is the number you're going to
- 58:17have, and that's it. And that's wrong.
- 58:21It's a unilateral decision. And you can grieve that as an
- 58:25Article 5 violation. Don't let them tell you, oh, you
- 58:30only can have five a day. You can only have three a day.
- 58:33You can only have 10 a day. I heard somebody say on another
- 58:37group that it can only be in factors of 5.
- 58:40You're going to have 510 or 15. And if it's over 15, then you're
- 58:44going to have an interview that's benchmarking and
- 58:48harassment. Don't let them tell you how many
- 58:53unscanned parcels you have. It is carrier discretion as to
- 58:57what is a parcel and it says specifically in the rec stuff,
- 59:02whether it's on the resource guide or in the 99 page manual
- 59:08to what is an obvious parcel. It doesn't explain what an
- 59:13obvious parcel is. So if a carrier determines it is
- 59:17an obvious parcel that does not have a barcode or barcode
- 59:22numbers to input, then it's an unscanned parcel under carrier
- 59:25discretion. Now, case in point, my office,
- 59:31we had these things called Boys Town.
- 59:34Oh yeah, I got them too. They they they were kind of soft
- 59:37sided, OK? But they were actually thicker
- 59:40than the one inch U lines and I got questioned about it because
- 59:45I had 23 unscanned parcels and I said you check my 4240 and I had
- 59:51written on their Boys Town and they said, well what's that?
- 59:54And I said that these things were thicker than EU lines,
- 59:56wouldn't fit the case with the other mail.
- 59:59Well, we we don't approve of that.
- 1:00:01I said I don't care whether you approve it or not.
- 1:00:04That's the way it's entered in there and if I don't see that on
- 1:00:07my my PTR. I says we're going to have a
- 1:00:10problem. Of course it showed up on the
- 1:00:13PTR. Don't back down folks.
- 1:00:19Don't get bullied. Stand up to the bullies.
- 1:00:21Yeah, we just had those Boys Town and then the Medicare books
- 1:00:25last week. What's up my scanner?
- 1:00:29The WS H Medicare books, which are 15 books per bundle.
- 1:00:36I had 21 bundles for my route. Wow, That's like 300.
- 1:00:45Yeah, I did that without my fingers.
- 1:00:49And mine were in reverse order. Oh, you poor thing.
- 1:00:57Mine was one wrong address in every single bundle.
- 1:01:01It was in the wrong spot. Nope, I didn't have that issue
- 1:01:04at all. I only.
- 1:01:06Miss. One too.
- 1:01:08The Medicare books fit in the case, most often for a lot of
- 1:01:12places without a problem. They aren't.
- 1:01:14They weren't even an inch thick, but carrier discretion and
- 1:01:23always be discretionary to your favor.
- 1:01:26Yes, Yep, Every discretion is to your favor.
- 1:01:29Otherwise you're leaving money on the table and Bill says
- 1:01:32that's a no no. I leave money on the table and
- 1:01:38it disappears. So yeah.
- 1:01:41And that's what management will do with your money if you leave
- 1:01:44it on the table. Yeah, baby.
- 1:01:46You just have to get better at playing cards.
- 1:01:51Gotta know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know
- 1:01:54when to walk away, and know when to run.
- 1:01:55Oh God, we could have done without that.
- 1:02:01I might prefer. Planet Texas.
- 1:02:07That was classic. Thanks for the setup, Josh.
- 1:02:10Oh. Boy oh boy.
- 1:02:19He's leaving the money on the table.
- 1:02:22Yeah, You never leave money on the table.
- 1:02:26Never. Oh no.
- 1:02:30I have. I have a teenage daughter at
- 1:02:32home. You never leave money on the
- 1:02:34table. Next item before we become a
- 1:02:36karaoke bar. OK, well, I mean, we can keep
- 1:02:43some music and try and go for it.
- 1:02:44I don't know. I have one last topic.
- 1:02:48And we can't do that because we could actually get a copyright
- 1:02:51strike on our podcast. So we don't want to really do
- 1:02:53that. Yeah, that wouldn't be good.
- 1:02:57We're already not being paid, so we're not.
- 1:03:01But oh, screw this. All right.
- 1:03:06We'll double your pay, OK. All right.
- 1:03:09It is Sunday. I should get double time.
- 1:03:13All right. So the last thing I have is
- 1:03:18disputes are finally flowing out.
- 1:03:21We just finally getting back in time for the next evaluation in
- 1:03:25two weeks. And they've decided to finally
- 1:03:29put out all the disputes that they've been holding on to, or
- 1:03:32at least some of them. And carriers are getting them
- 1:03:37back, a lot of them, of course, our management will fix the
- 1:03:40issue. Management will do this with the
- 1:03:42carrier. Management will take care of the
- 1:03:44carrier on this one. Some of them are coming back
- 1:03:48with a higher evaluation. Yes, we had one in my office.
- 1:03:53But. You only get that evaluation for
- 1:03:56your next paycheck and. No, we actually got retro pay.
- 1:04:01And hope and pray that they give you the retro pay.
- 1:04:05Yeah, came on the very next paycheck.
- 1:04:07Oh wow, that person got lucky. There are some people that
- 1:04:11didn't get the retro pay and their routes went up.
- 1:04:14Yeah, yeah. The effective date.
- 1:04:17The effective date was May 6th. What do you guys think of this
- 1:04:23timing of this, these kids coming back, they've had them
- 1:04:29for six months. Why are they all of a sudden now
- 1:04:35just getting around to them? Well, I wouldn't know because in
- 1:04:40my district we're still sitting on the ones from back in May and
- 1:04:47as of now we aren't even getting the new form.
- 1:04:51More disputes of this many mail surveyed till tomorrow.
- 1:04:58And you can't do anything till you get your 4241 A's and M's,
- 1:05:01right? And I still have two routes I
- 1:05:07have to go over. I know in this area part of the
- 1:05:13holdup was labor kept getting sidetracked or pulled away for
- 1:05:19other things. Rather than sitting in on those
- 1:05:22disputes. Oh, I'm sure it's.
- 1:05:28One excuse or another, it's not right.
- 1:05:36Our Director of Labor Relations should have been getting down on
- 1:05:39them to get this done because these carriers deserve this
- 1:05:45money. These carriers deserved to have
- 1:05:48their evaluations correct. And these disputes should have
- 1:05:53been settled with a Monetary Fund instead of settling for
- 1:05:57management will take care of it. That's not even a slap on the
- 1:06:01hand for management. That's not even telling them
- 1:06:04they won't do it again. And they could have been
- 1:06:09settling these for the last six months.
- 1:06:13Our Director of Labor Relations should have been sitting with
- 1:06:16Labor and going over these every single day.
- 1:06:21Not trying to go after a podcast.
- 1:06:26It should have been taken care of in a timely manner.
- 1:06:31But nothing's done timely in this.
- 1:06:35Hasn't been done timely. They're not being held
- 1:06:38accountable. What more can we do, sit, sit
- 1:06:44here and talk about it? Well, James, if you go on the
- 1:06:49national website, it still has up there in their their windows.
- 1:06:53That mapping is the most important function.
- 1:06:56But yet routes are out there that still haven't been mapped.
- 1:06:58But that's okay, because we'll follow the bread crumbs, even if
- 1:07:02the bread crumbs are incomplete because of the cell service
- 1:07:05that's, you know, unreliable in a lot of areas.
- 1:07:09But don't worry about it. We got your back.
- 1:07:14Or they got the dispute back. Mapping will be done with the
- 1:07:17carrier and that solves what, six months later?
- 1:07:24Yeah, the time for excuses is over.
- 1:07:31It's time for people to step up and do their damn jobs.
- 1:07:35Hold on, you forgot my favorite one that we brought up last
- 1:07:38week. Which one?
- 1:07:42The this dispute was denied. Due to the fact that training
- 1:07:46material was on the national website.
- 1:07:51Yeah, apparently a non dues paying member was supposed to
- 1:07:54access the union website to get the information.
- 1:07:57Oh wait, it's locked behind a login and you have to be a dues
- 1:08:01paying member to be able to see it.
- 1:08:07And I understand there's a lot of dues paying members out there
- 1:08:10that think that non dues paying members or scabs are useless.
- 1:08:15Don't do anything for the union, things like that.
- 1:08:18But I'm sorry, you're affecting the union by doing that.
- 1:08:24You're affecting the craft by doing that.
- 1:08:31It's time to step up or step down because these carriers want
- 1:08:38you to have their backs and instead.
- 1:08:43Signing these as management will do whatever is supposed to be
- 1:08:46done like they were supposed to be doing is telling carriers you
- 1:08:51don't have their back. Telling them they had to have
- 1:08:56the information from the union website when people can't even
- 1:09:01access it is a slap in the face and doesn't make them want to
- 1:09:06join the union. But my personal opinion on that.
- 1:09:13Should be that if it's anything that has to do with your pay,
- 1:09:17with your wages, regardless if you are a member, dues paying
- 1:09:22member or not, it's that information should be made
- 1:09:25available to you You, just like you can get a copy of the
- 1:09:29contract without being a pays dues paying member and you can
- 1:09:32look up your local steward, you should be able to have access to
- 1:09:36that training material. Sit there and tell me you're
- 1:09:45helping the union out by excluding craft members at this
- 1:09:51point in time. There are states that are
- 1:09:55getting rid of right to work, and in those states, those union
- 1:10:00members in private sector can actually can actually be forced
- 1:10:07to pay dues. Now it's not on the national
- 1:10:10level yet. But you could endear a lot more
- 1:10:15people if you just gave enough information to entice them to
- 1:10:21come to the union. Entice them to be involved,
- 1:10:24Entice them to be craft members instead of leaving them in the
- 1:10:30dark. Instead.
- 1:10:32Not only are you leaving them in the dark, the comments you're
- 1:10:36putting on these dispute forms is making people leave the
- 1:10:39union. I've had a lot of people tell me
- 1:10:45that their dispute came back. It was wrong and they're tired
- 1:10:48of the union treating them this way.
- 1:10:50So they're pulling their dues and the only thing keeping them
- 1:10:53in this union is this podcast. Do you know how much that breaks
- 1:11:02my heart to hear that? That the only reason they're
- 1:11:08involved still in the Union, is because of us?
- 1:11:12Not because of leadership. Not because of state leaders.
- 1:11:15Not because of Dr's, Adr's, or even their local stewards, but
- 1:11:20because of a podcast put on by a group of people who actually
- 1:11:25care about this craft. You can sit on your high horse
- 1:11:30in your little office space and make three times the amount of
- 1:11:33money I do, but until you start stepping up and taking care of
- 1:11:37this craft, you're useless. You're not doing your job and I
- 1:11:50think it's time to wrap it up. Bill, do you have anything to
- 1:11:56add to that? No, I I I just agree with them.
- 1:12:00You know, he says that he's heartbroken.
- 1:12:02My I'm, my cockles are worn by the people who, you know, stayed
- 1:12:07in the union, have become stewards and everything because
- 1:12:10of this podcast. Well, I'm not arguing that.
- 1:12:13I'm just saying that I'm heartbroken that our leadership
- 1:12:16doesn't realize that. Well, they're a bunch of
- 1:12:18dumbasses anyway, and don't edit that out.
- 1:12:28No, no, we're going to keep that.
- 1:12:29That kind of just goes with the flow of what James was just
- 1:12:34saying and. Our editor just said, oh, it's
- 1:12:37getting evident out. I find you.
- 1:12:43I have a copy. But no, it seriously.
- 1:12:51I mean, I like I was saying, if it's something that affects
- 1:12:56everybody's wages, everybody's, it needs to be available to
- 1:13:01everybody. They shouldn't have to rely on a
- 1:13:07friend. To give them that information.
- 1:13:10That is one of the few things that should be available for
- 1:13:15everybody, because obviously you can't count on management to
- 1:13:24train. I don't think that word is even
- 1:13:28in their vocabulary properly anyways.
- 1:13:36But yeah, we should wind this down tonight, guys.
- 1:13:40Josh, your final commentary. Yes, yes, that's.
- 1:13:52It. Yes, well, he wanted to start
- 1:13:56with something different than. Go ahead, Josh, everyone.
- 1:14:07Come on, boy. Come on, you can do it.
- 1:14:16Come on, you can do it. Speak.
- 1:14:24Come on. Come on.
- 1:14:25Speak. Speak.
- 1:14:27It's gonna go there, but I was trying that too.
- 1:14:34Come on. Be Daddy's little boy.
- 1:14:38Oh my God, you sound so much like my boyfriend right now.
- 1:14:41It's. OK, take a deep breath.
- 1:14:44Step back in and don't listen to Bill.
- 1:14:59Oh God, I think he's done. Me too.
- 1:15:13Stick a fork in him. He's done.
- 1:15:19It's your daddy's little boy. Did you do Wiggy?
- 1:15:22Wiggy, wiggy. Oh God, God, I can't wait till I
- 1:15:31get a drink in me. I know, I'm completely sober
- 1:15:35too. Well, almost.
- 1:15:36But yeah, I haven't been drinking tonight.
- 1:15:38All right, James. Wow, it's hard to follow that
- 1:15:46up. I know.
- 1:15:48That's why I was kind of glad we got a little bit of a lighten,
- 1:15:52enlightened moment there. The Yeah.
- 1:16:01But just remember, folks. We're all in this together.
- 1:16:05We're one craft united with one goal and that's to make the
- 1:16:08rural craft better for every rural carrier.
- 1:16:12And we just need to step up and do the right thing, be accurate,
- 1:16:17be honest and take care of each other.
- 1:16:22Everybody, have a good week. Hopefully everything goes
- 1:16:26smoothly for you and we'll see you next week.
- 1:16:32My bodyguard after you. Bill, do you have anything else
- 1:16:36tonight? Don't think I have anything
- 1:16:39else. OK.
- 1:16:41I was just. I was just checking, hey, you
- 1:16:45know, hey, no, let me. I got a couple syllables,
- 1:16:52everybody. You know, do your jobs to the
- 1:16:55best of your ability. Of course, if it's questionable,
- 1:16:59use carrier discretion and look out for each other.
- 1:17:04You know it it. It's like, you know, being a Big
- 1:17:08Brother or big sister in the office.
- 1:17:10At times somebody's got to do it.
- 1:17:13Don't wait for somebody else to step up because it'll never
- 1:17:15happen. Everybody be safe, have a good
- 1:17:19week, do the job the best you can and remember you're the most
- 1:17:24important delivery. Get home to your loved ones.
- 1:17:29And just a reminder, I will be absent next Sunday night.
- 1:17:35I will pray for all of you. I will leave you in the hands of
- 1:17:38the gentleman. Exactly.
- 1:17:45In here. Yeah, Y'all get to have a good
- 1:17:49time without me next week. That's okay.
- 1:17:53I'll be back the following week. I just need to.
- 1:17:57I have a moment, an evening for myself with some heavy metal in
- 1:18:00a small venue. That's all I need and if you are
- 1:18:03the prank type out there, please pray that this route goes up.
- 1:18:06Forbid for me this week, please. Let me actually try this again.
- 1:18:13I didn't mean to cut you off. I'll sacrifice a small animal in
- 1:18:17your favor. Thank you.
- 1:18:20You know, the more they scream, the better.
- 1:18:24I'll do an I'll do an unscanned parcel for you.
- 1:18:30I had a dorm miscellaneous the other day, actually, yeah, but
- 1:18:35I'm not. Everybody stay safe this week
- 1:18:37and the guys will be back next week.
- 1:18:42God help us. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:46Everybody have a good week. If you get overwhelmed, take a
- 1:18:51step back. Take a deep breath, step back
- 1:18:53in. Good night.
- 1:18:56Night, Night. Good night.
