Latest / HEAVY Music Interviews / Bringing The Discovery Down Under With CAMERON LOSCH From BORN OF OSIRIS
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, guys. My name is Cameron Losch. I played
- 0:03Speaker 1: drums for progressive metal band Born of Osiris, and we
- 0:07Speaker 1: were going to Australia very soon.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yes, but so excited.
- 0:12Speaker 3: It's been six years since you've been here. What feels
- 0:15Speaker 3: most different coming back this time?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Yeah? So I should note that I actually was not
- 0:22Speaker 1: even there the last time, because so while Born of
- 0:25Speaker 1: Osyrus did go, I had an injury which rendered me
- 0:30Speaker 1: useless at home and my friend Aaron Sakanor filled in
- 0:34Speaker 1: on drums. But I heard that the tour was wonderful
- 0:38Speaker 1: and he's a phenomenal drummer, so I'm sure that he
- 0:41Speaker 1: did such a great job. So there's even more anticipation
- 0:45Speaker 1: built up for me to come back because I think
- 0:49Speaker 1: it might have been about ten years since I personally
- 0:53Speaker 1: have played shows or been to Australia in general. So
- 0:58Speaker 1: I am just so excited. It's been way too long,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and every time I've been there, I just truly enjoyed
- 1:04Speaker 1: the time.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Oh that's lovely.
- 1:07Speaker 3: And is there a memorable moment from your time he
- 1:09Speaker 3: lost that you can think of that really stands out?
- 1:13Speaker 1: So I remember getting there and having our host or
- 1:20Speaker 1: laison at the time telling us to be careful of
- 1:25Speaker 1: the drop bears. So yeah, we were a little confused,
- 1:30Speaker 1: a little worried, so we would be looking over had
- 1:33Speaker 1: to like just watch out when you're walking under trees
- 1:37Speaker 1: for the drop bears. You know. They said they're kind
- 1:41Speaker 1: of like koalas, but they're vicious and they'll drop down
- 1:45Speaker 1: on you. So it took us a short while to
- 1:50Speaker 1: find out that they were just trolling us, but they
- 1:56Speaker 1: had us fold for a moment. So I will say
- 1:59Speaker 1: that's one of the more notable things from arriving. And
- 2:01Speaker 1: then another thing that I found fascinating was walking around
- 2:07Speaker 1: the forest preserve and seeing kangaroos. I'm from the midwest
- 2:11Speaker 1: of Chicago, Illinois, and let me tell you, we do
- 2:18Speaker 1: not have kangaroos or anything like that. So I'm surprise. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:27Speaker 1: that's crazy. So walking around the forest preserve, just seeing
- 2:32Speaker 1: kangaroos in their wild habitat was mind blowing and I
- 2:38Speaker 1: hope to see some more when I return.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Oh that's awesome.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Does does Chicago have like a an animal, like a
- 2:45Speaker 3: state animal?
- 2:48Speaker 1: I yeah, you know, I should know what it is.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I don't. I'm thinking, gosh, it probably does. I just
- 3:00Speaker 1: think it would be a deer, because we got so many,
- 3:03Speaker 1: so many deer. But deer are cool, they're graceful and
- 3:07Speaker 1: they're sweet, but they're boring. I want a kangaroo. I
- 3:11Speaker 1: want a kangaroo, you know what. I want a kangaroo
- 3:15Speaker 1: running across the highway, not a deer deer.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. And your new album, Three Shadows has
- 3:23Speaker 3: been called your most critically acclaimed yet, what do you
- 3:26Speaker 3: think pushed it to that next level?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Well, I think that it was very much working through
- 3:34Speaker 1: our experiences as a band and seeing what worked at
- 3:38Speaker 1: the past and what maybe didn't work as well, and
- 3:43Speaker 1: we got to compile a lot of the sounds that
- 3:47Speaker 1: like where we started our first album in two thousand
- 3:49Speaker 1: and seven, incorporating some of those kind of just very
- 3:53Speaker 1: progressive elements with more stuff where how it's going similar
- 3:59Speaker 1: to our album before that, Angel or Alien in twenty
- 4:03Speaker 1: twenty one, where some of it is a bit more structured,
- 4:06Speaker 1: a bit more straightforward metal core. So we kind of
- 4:11Speaker 1: saw what worked in what we liked from our whole
- 4:14Speaker 1: disco discography, and we said, well, let's let's make this
- 4:20Speaker 1: like the Born of Us. There's sampler platter where if
- 4:23Speaker 1: you were to show somebody one album from the span
- 4:27Speaker 1: of our career that could represent all of them, all
- 4:32Speaker 1: of the sounds in one We kind of wanted to
- 4:34Speaker 1: do that, and no one song is the same in
- 4:38Speaker 1: that aspect. Some are more structured, more singing, and then
- 4:44Speaker 1: some are just kind of balls to the wall and unpredictable.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So we wanted to showcase every element that the band
- 4:53Speaker 1: has in the past, all in under one hour. So
- 4:57Speaker 1: I think we did that pretty well through Shadows.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 5:02Speaker 3: That is such a cool way of presenting an album
- 5:05Speaker 3: that it's like, you know, it's got bits of everything,
- 5:07Speaker 3: and like you said, you could show it to someone
- 5:09Speaker 3: who hasn't listened to you guys and be like, this
- 5:11Speaker 3: is kind of their sound, right. Was there a song
- 5:15Speaker 3: on the album that was challenging, more challenging to create
- 5:20Speaker 3: than other songs?
- 5:23Speaker 1: Oh, for sure. I would say A Mind short Circuiting
- 5:29Speaker 1: was interesting. I think that maybe not so much challenging,
- 5:35Speaker 1: but it saw many shapes and forms and evolutions. There
- 5:41Speaker 1: was many structure changes that really made the song stand
- 5:47Speaker 1: out to being one of my favorites. There are many
- 5:51Speaker 1: tempo changes where the beat switches just on a drop
- 5:54Speaker 1: of a hat. It's very unpredictable, and it's been cool
- 5:59Speaker 1: to see the crowd to that where like, you know,
- 6:02Speaker 1: a new tempo starts, everyone gets kind of surprised and
- 6:05Speaker 1: then amash pit forms. Like I love seeing all that
- 6:07Speaker 1: firsthand when you're in the studio and you kind of
- 6:10Speaker 1: imagine what people might do to it, but when it
- 6:13Speaker 1: when you see it in the crowd, it reaffirms like, yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 1: oh they felt that, you know, they felt they felt
- 6:19Speaker 1: the they felt the energy like when we first pieced
- 6:24Speaker 1: those two rifts together. And that's the fun of coming
- 6:28Speaker 1: together with people, Like you know, you write a song
- 6:31Speaker 1: and then you all come together. It's like, oh, well
- 6:35Speaker 1: this is cool, but what if this part went in
- 6:38Speaker 1: front of that part? Totally changes the feel? But it
- 6:43Speaker 1: works and sometimes it doesn't. But when it does work
- 6:46Speaker 1: and it does gel, I think there's just a magical
- 6:48Speaker 1: moment there where a Eureka moment where we all look
- 6:52Speaker 1: at each other like, yeah, that's that's really cool. So yeah,
- 6:54Speaker 1: why I say that that was challenging is because the
- 6:57Speaker 1: song just had so many evolutions until it became what
- 7:03Speaker 1: it was. So yeah, we're really proud of how that
- 7:06Speaker 1: one turned out.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Yeah, and for you, do you have that complex where
- 7:10Speaker 3: like does a song ever truly feel unfinished? Like are
- 7:14Speaker 3: you still always wanting to add things to songs or
- 7:17Speaker 3: are you pretty good at saying no, I think this
- 7:18Speaker 3: is it, that's the final song.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Oh I'm I'm always down to change songs, and which
- 7:26Speaker 1: is for me? It's I think the hardest part about
- 7:28Speaker 1: making music is actually setting it free releasing it. I
- 7:33Speaker 1: love the process, everything involved in making the song, and
- 7:37Speaker 1: then when it comes down to actually releasing it, you
- 7:40Speaker 1: kind of forget that's the whole purpose is to release it.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And I'm like, no, no, that's that's my baby. I
- 7:47Speaker 1: don't want to let it go because then I can't
- 7:49Speaker 1: change it anymore. It's kind of like when if your kids,
- 7:53Speaker 1: you know, leaves to college out of state or something,
- 7:58Speaker 1: It's like, no, my baby, I can't change you anymore.
- 8:01Speaker 1: You're all grown up. Like that's uh, That's what releasing
- 8:06Speaker 1: albums and songs is like, because I'm always down to
- 8:09Speaker 1: change it, and I get bored and I think I
- 8:12Speaker 1: think a demo is cool, and a month later, I'm like, nahn,
- 8:16Speaker 1: that's boring. But maybe because I've heard it too anytimes,
- 8:21Speaker 1: it does help to get an outsider point of view.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So yeah, releasing music is hard for me. I don't
- 8:29Speaker 1: always want to do it. Just to be honest, is there.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Someone in the band that maybe helps you with that
- 8:35Speaker 3: decision to go No, look, dude, it's good, it's fine,
- 8:38Speaker 3: let's send it out.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah, i'd say me and Nick Rossi work really well together,
- 8:45Speaker 1: and we both just have a mutual respect for you know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: what we've done songwriting wise, and both have unique ears
- 8:54Speaker 1: and unique taste and sometimes we desire different things, which
- 8:59Speaker 1: I appreciate because if there's a part that I'm on
- 9:02Speaker 1: the fence about or I think might need reworking or
- 9:06Speaker 1: just get rid of something. In general, I like to
- 9:08Speaker 1: send stuff over to him and sometimes he'll take his
- 9:13Speaker 1: spin on it. Or for example, like I sent him
- 9:16Speaker 1: part of a song and he's like, oh, that's cool,
- 9:18Speaker 1: but I made it fifteen bpm faster and then added
- 9:22Speaker 1: this part and like, oh my god, well that works
- 9:25Speaker 1: really well, except now we just have to practice drums
- 9:28Speaker 1: way harder because just made it really hard on me.
- 9:32Speaker 1: But no, Yeah, We've been sending riffs back and forth
- 9:37Speaker 1: and writing songs together, and having Nick Rossi to work
- 9:45Speaker 1: together on stuff really helps because there's always self doubt
- 9:49Speaker 1: when you're alone in a room working on stuff. And
- 9:52Speaker 1: just because I think it's cool, you know, doesn't mean
- 9:56Speaker 1: everybody's gonna think it's cool, and it doesn't mean that
- 9:59Speaker 1: it's suitable for the whole band to play. And a
- 10:03Speaker 1: lot of songs don't make the cut, and that's good.
- 10:07Speaker 1: That's just part of the process. And you always got
- 10:09Speaker 1: to make too much, too much art, and then you
- 10:13Speaker 1: can really narrow in and see what worked. And I mean,
- 10:17Speaker 1: if we used everything that we've been working on in
- 10:20Speaker 1: the last years, since you know, we finished Through Shadows,
- 10:25Speaker 1: we could release like the three albums of stuff. But
- 10:28Speaker 1: we're not gonna do that. We're just gonna, you know,
- 10:31Speaker 1: we're gonna zero in on like less is more approach,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and we want every song to be an absolute standout.
- 10:39Speaker 1: So we're that being said, we're already working on the
- 10:43Speaker 1: next album. We've been working on it for a little while,
- 10:46Speaker 1: and I am just so excited where it's going. So
- 10:51Speaker 1: we're really reinvigorated with the creative juice is flowing and
- 10:56Speaker 1: it's gonna be a lot of fun, bouncy, adventurous, progressive,
- 11:00Speaker 1: epic and crushing.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Fantastic we can't wait.
- 11:04Speaker 3: What moments from rac and Toe has really reminded you
- 11:06Speaker 3: why you love performing.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Gosh? Well, I would say that meeting the fans after
- 11:15Speaker 1: we play every night is something that I was missing
- 11:19Speaker 1: out on with other tours. So we have started doing
- 11:24Speaker 1: this thing at most of our shows, where after we play,
- 11:30Speaker 1: we go to our merch table and we announced that
- 11:33Speaker 1: on the stage, so everybody is aware and talking with
- 11:37Speaker 1: the fans every night after we played is something I'm
- 11:43Speaker 1: so I'm almost sad that I missed out on it
- 11:45Speaker 1: on all these other years because there's a lot of
- 11:48Speaker 1: things that and encouragement that I wish that I had
- 11:52Speaker 1: heard before. It definitely lightens the load of being on tour,
- 12:00Speaker 1: missing family, making sacrifices, because I'm sure most people know
- 12:05Speaker 1: that committing to like a heavy tour schedule, you really
- 12:10Speaker 1: change your life around and you don't see family as
- 12:13Speaker 1: much as you'd like to significant others, and it is
- 12:16Speaker 1: it is the ultimate sacrifice in a way, and it's
- 12:21Speaker 1: not for everybody. But when I'm you know, feeling homesick
- 12:25Speaker 1: or it just feels tough, talking to the fans kind
- 12:30Speaker 1: of grounds me and reminds me why I'm doing this.
- 12:33Speaker 1: And how cool it is and how grateful I am
- 12:36Speaker 1: for the experience and that other people can connect with
- 12:39Speaker 1: our music. And yeah, it's just like, really makes me
- 12:46Speaker 1: grateful to be here still doing this and here hearing
- 12:49Speaker 1: the stories from them and some people who have seen
- 12:53Speaker 1: us on our very first tours in two thousand and seven,
- 12:56Speaker 1: and the fact that they are still there seeing us
- 13:00Speaker 1: and they are growing older with us. It just moves
- 13:04Speaker 1: me beyond words. So that's that's something that really stands out.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Meeting all the fans afterwards and just having super cool
- 13:12Speaker 1: conversations with them and meeting tons of new like minded people.
- 13:16Speaker 1: It's just been a blessing.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Well that's so lovely and you know, obviously you probably
- 13:21Speaker 3: know already, but that means so much to fans and
- 13:23Speaker 3: like people that could that you actually take the time
- 13:26Speaker 3: to meet them and talk to them.
- 13:27Speaker 2: That's lovely.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's been great. Whenever it we're able to.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I would just love to do that every time. And
- 13:37Speaker 1: I don't like charging money for meet and greet, since
- 13:41Speaker 1: we have admittedly done that in the past. They're like,
- 13:44Speaker 1: let's just do it free, you know, after the show,
- 13:47Speaker 1: not charge anything, And it just feels way better that way,
- 13:51Speaker 1: So I think other bands take notes.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yes exactly, place You're not better than anyone.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, No.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Oh that's so wicked.
- 14:02Speaker 3: And is there a memorable or cool gift that a
- 14:06Speaker 3: fan has given you that you can think of off
- 14:08Speaker 3: the top of your head.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Oh? Well, I get Dorito bags quite frequently, the cool
- 14:15Speaker 1: Ranch because that's my favorite flavor of dorrito So that is, honestly,
- 14:22Speaker 1: I'm always ecstatic when people bring me the cool Ranch Stritos.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I like all flavors of Dorrito's, I don't discriminate, but
- 14:31Speaker 1: the cool Ranch blue bag is my very favorite. So
- 14:35Speaker 1: if you do see me at a show, definitely look
- 14:41Speaker 1: for a cool blue bag, Cool Ranch Dourrito's and bring
- 14:46Speaker 1: it to me as soon as possible. I don't see I.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Don't think they're readily available here, the cool Ranch flavor.
- 14:54Speaker 3: And I had it when I went to America, and
- 14:57Speaker 3: I have to say, I don't know they tasted a
- 14:59Speaker 3: bit weird.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Well did you ever consider that maybe the Doritos the
- 15:05Speaker 1: cool Ranch Sturrito's thought that you tasted weird?
- 15:08Speaker 3: Oh oh, I say no, I didn't, thank you.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Wait, I didn't know you guys don't have cool Ranch Doritos.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to pack an abundance of cool Rench
- 15:19Speaker 1: stritos in my luggage. Then now I know that's fine. Okay,
- 15:23Speaker 1: thank me, Okay, thank you for thank you for the warning.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to bring a bunch. I'll be prepared,
- 15:29Speaker 1: I'll stay strapped with Dorito's good.
- 15:33Speaker 3: So anyone listening just know that he does not discriminate
- 15:36Speaker 3: with Dorito flavors.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Bring anything. I wonder if we have Australian exclusive flavors.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I don't know, I'd have to look into that.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah, honestly, if you bring me something you think I've
- 15:45Speaker 1: never tried Dorito's, that's really exciting too.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Yeah, weicked and Signs of the Swarm are joining you
- 15:53Speaker 3: guys on this run.
- 15:53Speaker 2: What's the energy like touring with such an intense band?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, Signs of This is one of the
- 16:01Speaker 1: most insane bands ever to see live. Those their records
- 16:06Speaker 1: are extremely high energy, some of the heaviest songs ever
- 16:10Speaker 1: made in existence, and they they sound just like that live.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I mean, just like Machine Precision. I mean the drumming
- 16:21Speaker 1: Bobby is just crazy. I mean they put on one
- 16:25Speaker 1: hell of a show and it is absolutely a tough
- 16:27Speaker 1: act to follow. So I think that just the combination
- 16:32Speaker 1: of their brutal breakdowns and just them being really cool
- 16:40Speaker 1: people too, is really going to ignite the flame for
- 16:44Speaker 1: everybody that gets to see the show. And they're all
- 16:48Speaker 1: really friendly guys, They're always hanging out, so I'm sure
- 16:51Speaker 1: that it will not be difficult to meet any of
- 16:55Speaker 1: them as well as my band we love to hang Out,
- 16:58Speaker 1: will be walking around and we're all friend with the
- 17:00Speaker 1: Signs of the Swarm guys too, so we're excited to
- 17:02Speaker 1: explore some new territories together and make some memories and
- 17:07Speaker 1: with everybody, it's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I can just imagine it's gonna be a hell
- 17:12Speaker 3: of a show. I reckon And are there any songs
- 17:16Speaker 3: from Through Shadows that hit different in a live setting
- 17:19Speaker 3: compared to studio?
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Elevate hit harder than we realized. Elevate
- 17:26Speaker 1: seems to be a fan favorite. When we play that live,
- 17:31Speaker 1: just see people nodding their heads and just going crazy,
- 17:36Speaker 1: Like people get really into that one. It was kind
- 17:39Speaker 1: of a sleeper where like, yeah, it was cool in
- 17:41Speaker 1: the studio and I didn't know how it would translate live,
- 17:45Speaker 1: but I was like, oh, this is a high energy song.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I didn't even realize it was like that. So people
- 17:51Speaker 1: are gonna get down to that one we could.
- 17:54Speaker 3: And is there a song of the album too that
- 17:56Speaker 3: is your personal favorite to play live?
- 18:00Speaker 1: I would say in Verno And mostly because there's this
- 18:06Speaker 1: breakdown like towards the end of it where it's just
- 18:10Speaker 1: choir vocals. It gets kind of brutal, and I love
- 18:16Speaker 1: to watch the mashpit form for that part. And that's
- 18:19Speaker 1: the part where Ronnie, our vocalist, can do his mush calls.
- 18:25Speaker 1: It's always fun when we have a part in the
- 18:27Speaker 1: set where everybody just hits a low note. I can
- 18:30Speaker 1: just you know, play some symbols and try to get
- 18:35Speaker 1: the crowd hyped up. And yeah, it's it's super fun.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So Inverno's is cool, especially for that breakdown section. I
- 18:43Speaker 1: like to see the reactions to it. People go kind
- 18:45Speaker 1: of crazy for that.
- 18:47Speaker 3: That's WEAKD And you guys have been going so long now.
- 18:50Speaker 3: I remember seeing you guys on my Space He's and
- 18:53Speaker 3: news and years ago. I'm showing my age. But is
- 18:56Speaker 3: there a song that you are sick of playing?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Wow? First of all, that's so cool. You've been following
- 19:03Speaker 1: us since MySpace didn't know that that is crazy. Yeah,
- 19:10Speaker 1: So to answer your question, there's there's no such thing
- 19:15Speaker 1: as a song that I'm sick of playing as long
- 19:20Speaker 1: as the crowd always reacts to it. So people I say, oh, like,
- 19:26Speaker 1: you guys have to play bow Down every show, like
- 19:29Speaker 1: people just expect it, like, yes, Well, the short answer is, yes,
- 19:33Speaker 1: we do have to play bow Down every show, and yes,
- 19:35Speaker 1: people do expect it. Am I tired of playing it?
- 19:39Speaker 1: Absolutely not, because I like to see the reaction. It
- 19:44Speaker 1: gets some sort of reaction from people every time. That's guaranteed.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It's an easy song for me to play on drums,
- 19:51Speaker 1: so you know, yes, it's the same song, but it's
- 19:56Speaker 1: a different audience every night, so you know factor of
- 20:01Speaker 1: it being a different audience. No, I don't get tired
- 20:05Speaker 1: of playing it. Do I get tired of playing it
- 20:07Speaker 1: alone at home? Oh? Yeah, yeah, for sure, that's that's boring. Yeah. No,
- 20:14Speaker 1: I'll never get tired of it playing it live because
- 20:16Speaker 1: it's a fresh audience every time, and it's cool. It's
- 20:20Speaker 1: a for a lot of people. It's the first time
- 20:22Speaker 1: that they they're seeing it live too, and I like
- 20:24Speaker 1: to see the excitement and everything. So it's always magical
- 20:28Speaker 1: playing that song, so hopefully we never stopped playing it.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Oh that's so lovely. And is there any.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Artist at the moment or in the past few yeas
- 20:38Speaker 3: that you've been really impressed with all that you take
- 20:41Speaker 3: inspiration from?
- 20:44Speaker 1: Gosh, Oh, there are so many. Honestly, I would say
- 20:52Speaker 1: the one who just covers so much ground, the most
- 20:56Speaker 1: ground that's really the roots of like my songwriting and
- 21:00Speaker 1: imagination is John Williams. And documentary was released not too
- 21:06Speaker 1: long ago that really reminded me just how much of
- 21:13Speaker 1: a genius the guy is and has created like movie
- 21:19Speaker 1: magic and when you hear he makes music that when
- 21:24Speaker 1: when you hear it, you see something like you can't
- 21:27Speaker 1: you can't help but like, you know, have visuals to it.
- 21:31Speaker 1: When when you hear his music, it's just iconic. So yeah,
- 21:35Speaker 1: shout out to John Williams for shaping my my childhood.
- 21:40Speaker 1: And Danny Elfman as well, Yeah equally, really I like
- 21:45Speaker 1: I like his spooky stuff he does too, It's really
- 21:49Speaker 1: really fun. But yeah, I like movie music quite a bit.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Well I was not expecting that answer, but you know,
- 21:56Speaker 3: now saying it with Born of officsars. I I feel
- 22:00Speaker 3: like I hear and I say in your music. I
- 22:02Speaker 3: get those visuals when I listen to you guys, So
- 22:04Speaker 3: it's like that's really interesting.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Yeah, there there would be a lot more movie elements
- 22:11Speaker 1: and things if we didn't commit to being a metal band.
- 22:15Speaker 1: But maybe I'll save that style of songwriting for my
- 22:21Speaker 1: own compositions. And yeah, see, you know, see who wants
- 22:26Speaker 1: to join forces with me? So if there's any you know,
- 22:30Speaker 1: video game companies or movie companies, hit me up ready
- 22:34Speaker 1: to make music for you. That's right.
- 22:37Speaker 3: And in your spare time, what sort of music do
- 22:40Speaker 3: you find yourself listening to?
- 22:41Speaker 2: Is it the same genre that you played?
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. I listen to quite a bit of metal.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I know. The popular answer for people in metal bands
- 22:51Speaker 1: is to say, no, I don't listen to metal, but
- 22:54Speaker 1: the truth is I do. I still like metal. I'm
- 22:56Speaker 1: in a metal band. I'm proud of the music that
- 22:59Speaker 1: I play, and I absolutely listened to metal too, because
- 23:02Speaker 1: I don't hate the genre. I think it's still growing
- 23:05Speaker 1: and it's amazing. Lamb of God is one of like
- 23:10Speaker 1: the first bands that really kind of got me started
- 23:14Speaker 1: on like making riffs and stuff. Early on and now
- 23:20Speaker 1: I gotta say, I'm really proud of Born Ashore and
- 23:25Speaker 1: what they've done. I think it's amazing. I've seen them
- 23:29Speaker 1: as I hate the term baby band, but like they
- 23:33Speaker 1: weren't very popular and they but they've been touring and
- 23:37Speaker 1: putting out albums just relentlessly, and I'd always loved their music,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and I think it's cool to see everybody else finally
- 23:45Speaker 1: find out about them. So good for them. I think
- 23:50Speaker 1: it's it's super cool what they've done. I think, you know,
- 23:54Speaker 1: any other underground band such as Born of Osiris, that's
- 23:58Speaker 1: kind of why, you know, we keep going because we
- 24:01Speaker 1: do love it, and we also, you know, would hope
- 24:05Speaker 1: to eventually reach a larger audience too. And you know,
- 24:09Speaker 1: if we stay right where we're at, that's also fine
- 24:12Speaker 1: because I'm just grateful to be here playing music for
- 24:14Speaker 1: people that appreciate it.
- 24:16Speaker 2: You're so sweet. I was not expecting it.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Lovely, And what can fans expect on this tool that
- 24:26Speaker 3: they've never seen from Born of Asius before.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Oh, such a cool question. So for the first time ever,
- 24:37Speaker 1: we are doing a fifteen year anniversary of our third album,
- 24:42Speaker 1: The Discovery, which came out in twenty eleven. You remember
- 24:46Speaker 1: that one?
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yes, and now I feel really old.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Thanks, I know, right? Yeah? Crazy? So yeah, it's for
- 24:54Speaker 1: the first time we are doing a tour playing eight
- 24:59Speaker 1: songs from The Discovery as long as other fan favorites
- 25:04Speaker 1: and classics. We'll probably have some Through Shadows songs in
- 25:09Speaker 1: there as well, but it's very much the Discovery themed tour,
- 25:15Speaker 1: so Australia is going to be one of the first
- 25:18Speaker 1: to see that. And yeah, I think this will be
- 25:23Speaker 1: the most difficult set I've ever had to play on drums,
- 25:27Speaker 1: so you get to get to see me really concentrating.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So I hope, I hope I nail it. I've been
- 25:36Speaker 1: practicing a lot and I know it will be good.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I just you know, got to got to keep up
- 25:40Speaker 1: the drum practice every day. It's got to dust off
- 25:44Speaker 1: the cobwebs on some of these songs. They're definitely intense,
- 25:47Speaker 1: but I'm ready for the challenge.
- 25:49Speaker 2: And do you think you'll be.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Adding any sort of new flares to these old songs
- 25:53Speaker 3: or just keeping them as they are?
- 25:56Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, there will absolutely be new flare, so get
- 25:58Speaker 1: ready for some surprises. And yeah, it's going to keep
- 26:04Speaker 1: everyone on their toes. So we're really excited to present
- 26:08Speaker 1: you guys with the evolution of Bornemo Cyrus. Hell.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so excited, excited, exciting, Oh my gosh, I
- 26:17Speaker 3: cannot talk today. Cameron, thank you so very much for
- 26:20Speaker 3: your time today. It's been an absolute pleasure. We cannot
- 26:23Speaker 3: wait to see you in March.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited to see you. We'll make sure to
- 26:27Speaker 1: say hi when you're at the show and we'll hang up.
- 26:30Speaker 2: We'll do that'll be wicked. Thank you so much.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, good one.
