- 0:29Speaker 6: with Semi Chand.
- 0:33Speaker 4: We've been covering the South Asian independent music scene all
- 0:38Speaker 4: week long and it's a topic that obviously I take
- 0:42Speaker 4: very dearly and for me, the artists that we've been
- 0:46Speaker 4: showcasing this week are very unique perspectives in this arena.
- 0:52Speaker 4: We had Uncle Davarion on Monday, more of a music supervisor, singer, songwriter,
- 1:00Speaker 4: a composer kind of a figure. Then we had Arian
- 1:04Speaker 4: Aurora performing artist, singer, much more of a theatrical aspect
- 1:10Speaker 4: to his presentation. And then yesterday we were joined right
- 1:16Speaker 4: here on the bridge by Rubbi Drums and Rubbi Drums
- 1:21Speaker 4: is a consummate musician when it comes to gigging and
- 1:25Speaker 4: performing with all kinds of different artists. In his time,
- 1:29Speaker 4: and he's been heavily involved in the FIFA celebrations out
- 1:32Speaker 4: here in La and today to really cover the spectrum
- 1:38Speaker 4: and the arc of what an independent artist is out
- 1:41Speaker 4: there these days. We're joined by Shuba, and Shuba to me,
- 1:47Speaker 4: is really the prototype of where the artist is going.
- 1:51Speaker 4: It's gonna be great to talk to her today. She
- 1:54Speaker 4: has as much of an imprint on some of her
- 1:58Speaker 4: social media platforms as she does as a singer out there.
- 2:02Speaker 4: And when I'm talking about being a singer, she's performing
- 2:04Speaker 4: with artists like Hey Rahman and so many other great
- 2:08Speaker 4: people like that in our space. So it's gonna be
- 2:12Speaker 4: great to talk to Shuba today, Wander. Thank you all

- 27:11Speaker 4: Well we're here. I'm really really happy that you made
- 27:14Speaker 4: it to the show. Listen, you come across like an
- 27:17Speaker 4: artist to me that has been skating the line. As
- 27:22Speaker 4: I say, culturally, you are adept in both sides of
- 27:26Speaker 4: the industry, as I like to say. You've made an
- 27:29Speaker 4: impression on the Indian South Asian side, and then you're
- 27:33Speaker 4: so active out here in the US as well. You know,
- 27:36Speaker 4: I have a question for you. Is there such a
- 27:39Speaker 4: thing as no Man's Land? You know, there's a comedian
- 27:44Speaker 4: by the name of as If Manvi and He described
- 27:46Speaker 4: what we do sometimes as being in this world where
- 27:51Speaker 4: we're not Indian enough for India and we're not American
- 27:54Speaker 4: enough for America, and so we find ourselves in this
- 27:57Speaker 4: really weird isolated place. Do you not to be the
- 28:00Speaker 4: case for musicians as well?
- 28:05Speaker 14: Oh yeah, I mean absolutely, that's like one hundred percent.
- 28:09Speaker 6: My identity and life crisis is kind of like one
- 28:15Speaker 6: figuring out where I fit in and two kind of
- 28:19Speaker 6: just making my own lane because I can't figure that out.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and how does how do you navigate that? How
- 28:26Speaker 4: do you figure that out? Is it by putting out
- 28:29Speaker 4: the music that you put out and the content that
- 28:32Speaker 4: you put out, or to me, you come across like, hey,
- 28:36Speaker 4: I'm just going to be me. I'm going to put
- 28:37Speaker 4: it out, and then the people that gravitate towards it,
- 28:40Speaker 4: be it from whatever background that they are, they come
- 28:43Speaker 4: to it.
- 28:45Speaker 14: That's kind of what I've come to.
- 28:47Speaker 6: Yeah, And I was thinking about it today because I
- 28:49Speaker 6: think for some time I was like, oh, I need
- 28:52Speaker 6: to become like this token Indian person, and then I think,
- 28:59Speaker 6: like trying to force yourself into a space isn't the key.
- 29:03Speaker 6: It's just authentically doing the parts that sit right with you,
- 29:08Speaker 6: and at the end of the day, I don't know
- 29:11Speaker 6: exactly what song is going to resonate with which audience,
- 29:16Speaker 6: and it's better for me to just put things out authentically.
- 29:20Speaker 6: And I think I just categorized myself as like a
- 29:23Speaker 6: global girl, like I feel like I want to belong
- 29:26Speaker 6: to everyone. Yeah, and maybe that's not like nation enough
- 29:31Speaker 6: for now, but I mean it's just I think for me,
- 29:35Speaker 6: it's better than trying to squeeze into something and then
- 29:37Speaker 6: being like, wait, am.
- 29:38Speaker 14: I is this okay for me to try to do this?
- 29:41Speaker 4: Listen, you have collaborated with the mozart of madras On
- 29:47Speaker 4: down with all kinds of different artists out there. You know,
- 29:51Speaker 4: I'm a big sports fan. There's a difference between watching
- 29:55Speaker 4: a superstar on the field or on the court or
- 29:58Speaker 4: whatever it might be. And let's just say an artist
- 30:00Speaker 4: that's not quite that, or an athlete that's not quite that.
- 30:03Speaker 4: You know, when you when you're in a room with
- 30:05Speaker 4: somebody like an arm on, just how special is it
- 30:09Speaker 4: to be in that room with him? And and and
- 30:11Speaker 4: also most importantly, you know, I feel like we're watching
- 30:15Speaker 4: a once in a lifetime talent. There is there a
- 30:18Speaker 4: way for you to articulate what he means to you
- 30:21Speaker 4: and also what you can maybe put into perspective as
- 30:25Speaker 4: to who he means and what he means to the
- 30:26Speaker 4: actual music industry and the music world out there.
- 30:31Speaker 6: I think I think you are absolutely right in that
- 30:34Speaker 6: it's what what a pleasure and a treat to be
- 30:39Speaker 6: alive during the same time as Adam, Yeah, let alone
- 30:46Speaker 6: like show him. Even as I say the words, I
- 30:51Speaker 6: don't really believe it.
- 30:53Speaker 14: It's kind of always like a pinch me moment.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 30:56Speaker 6: They were celebrating, you know, the anniversary of Lagan, and
- 31:00Speaker 6: it's just the way that that song is, like the
- 31:03Speaker 6: whole soundtrack is etched in my like my bones and
- 31:08Speaker 6: just shaped everything I knew about music as a child.
- 31:11Speaker 6: But he the beautiful thing about him is he's such
- 31:16Speaker 6: a meditated person, and just by watching the lee he
- 31:19Speaker 6: deals with people, he talks to people.
- 31:22Speaker 14: He treats everyone.
- 31:26Speaker 6: With like asserting himself, but then also a lot of
- 31:31Speaker 6: grace and understanding. I've just I've learned a lot about
- 31:34Speaker 6: what kind of artists I want to be if I
- 31:36Speaker 6: were ever to you know, even get like a quarter
- 31:39Speaker 6: or a fraction of you know, the success and platform
- 31:43Speaker 6: that he has how I want to uplift other people
- 31:47Speaker 6: and keep evolving. And he's even you know, as beautiful
- 31:53Speaker 6: as the music is, his soul is even more beautiful.
- 31:58Speaker 6: He's so kind and he death has such an aura.
- 32:01Speaker 6: He's so funny and lighthearted. And yeah, just what an
- 32:06Speaker 6: amazing person.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Uh you recently saying lowerdies for him? What a great
- 32:13Speaker 4: upbeat track? You know you you grew up a world
- 32:17Speaker 4: away from him. What was that call? Like, what was
- 32:21Speaker 4: that first kind of connection from aar Rahiman?
- 32:26Speaker 6: Like for you?
- 32:26Speaker 4: What was that moment like for you when he reached
- 32:29Speaker 4: out or whatever the connection was made there? You're like,
- 32:31Speaker 4: oh my god, ar monster.
- 32:33Speaker 14: Oh it was crazy. It was I don't like I remember.
- 32:40Speaker 6: The whole story, and I need to talk about this
- 32:44Speaker 6: morning because I always forget that. It's like actually kind
- 32:46Speaker 6: of a big deal.
- 32:47Speaker 14: Yeah, but you know, it was during a time where.
- 32:50Speaker 6: I posted at Shakira ordering pizza impression video of mind
- 32:54Speaker 6: I went viral on TikTok, I posted on Instagram and
- 32:57Speaker 6: I see an email from like something that had like
- 33:01Speaker 6: everyone's name in it, and I'm like, this is definitely fake.
- 33:04Speaker 14: So I deleted it, and I even deleted it from
- 33:08Speaker 14: my trash. Like I just, I was like, oh, this
- 33:11Speaker 14: is major spam.
- 33:13Speaker 6: It can't be And luckily I checked my Instagram and
- 33:18Speaker 6: sure enough he dms me there oh and it was like.
- 33:23Speaker 14: And then we got on a zoom call and I
- 33:25Speaker 14: still didn't believe it was real. I think at that
- 33:27Speaker 14: point I was still like, this isn't real, This isn't real.
- 33:29Speaker 14: This is real.
- 33:30Speaker 6: And like my sister, I think, took a video.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Of me just.
- 33:34Speaker 14: Just in disbelief. It was crazy. I mean, yeah, I
- 33:40Speaker 14: just I can't all it was amazing.
- 33:43Speaker 6: And then even when I met him in Dubai and
- 33:45Speaker 6: we recorded Robberty, I still didn't believe it, Like I just,
- 33:50Speaker 6: I just did not believe it.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Sue. You know, this week on our show, we've been
- 33:57Speaker 4: turning the attention to the independent artist, and one of
- 34:02Speaker 4: the things that I wanted to ask you, being someone
- 34:05Speaker 4: that has really navigated this industry as an independent artist,
- 34:09Speaker 4: You've achieved so much, but largely you know, rowing the
- 34:14Speaker 4: boat clearly by yourself, without that big, you know, big
- 34:19Speaker 4: major label thing that a lot of artists, you know,
- 34:22Speaker 4: think that it requires to be successful out there, you know,
- 34:26Speaker 4: tell us about that journey, tell us about you know
- 34:28Speaker 4: what it's like to navigate that, and you know, there's
- 34:31Speaker 4: a second part to this question, which I know you
- 34:34Speaker 4: know is also part of your identity is you know,
- 34:36Speaker 4: of course you're a singer, but you're an influencer. And
- 34:38Speaker 4: then my, my, my other question to you is part
- 34:41Speaker 4: of this is that you know, do you feel that
- 34:44Speaker 4: the term influencer takes away from the artist part of this?
- 34:49Speaker 14: Hm, Well, I guess.
- 34:53Speaker 6: It's very interesting right now because I keep seeing giant
- 34:56Speaker 6: artists like Phoebe Rex and even Fallasia and a lot
- 34:59Speaker 6: of artists I followed three.
- 35:01Speaker 14: Years now and even Kalanie, like all these artists they're.
- 35:06Speaker 6: Like, oh, I'm independent, I'm independent, and just talking about
- 35:10Speaker 6: how challenging it was to navigate these label relationships and
- 35:15Speaker 6: how they're quote unquote free right, And it's just so
- 35:19Speaker 6: crazy to me because when you're little and you're just
- 35:21Speaker 6: a little girl or boy and you're dreaming about this
- 35:24Speaker 6: whole like La signing a deal, you romanticize it and
- 35:28Speaker 6: then when you get there you realize that it can
- 35:31Speaker 6: with the wrong team, it can be a really horrifying process.
- 35:37Speaker 6: And for me, I'm just I'm already used to being
- 35:39Speaker 6: indie and I am kind of a control freak with
- 35:45Speaker 6: my career just because with pandemic, I you know, I
- 35:48Speaker 6: just I gained a lot of skills and I do
- 35:53Speaker 6: consider myself like an intelligent person and very smart and
- 35:56Speaker 6: hands on. And I have a great team of friends
- 35:59Speaker 6: and just a lot out of kind people along the way,
- 36:01Speaker 6: like yourself, honestly, who have who have helped me.
- 36:05Speaker 14: And talked me through things that I'm just used to it.
- 36:10Speaker 6: I'm just used to this whole thing. But I'm glad
- 36:13Speaker 6: that it's becoming more normal.
- 36:14Speaker 14: Yeah, and I'm not I'm not alone, you know.
- 36:17Speaker 6: I'm glad that, like we always say, the grass is greener,
- 36:20Speaker 6: but the grass feels pretty green here. I will say,
- 36:24Speaker 6: in order to achieve my specific dreams, you know, stadium tours,
- 36:29Speaker 6: I'm not opposed to having support, like I'm going to
- 36:33Speaker 6: need it. I'm going to need it, and you can't
- 36:35Speaker 6: do that without a major label to be a stadium artist.
- 36:39Speaker 14: But it's it matters who's on the other side.
- 36:45Speaker 6: But it's cool to have so many resources right now
- 36:47Speaker 6: to grow as an independent artist.
- 36:51Speaker 14: And then I think the second thing you asked me
- 36:53Speaker 14: was in part, you know.
- 36:56Speaker 4: To me, to me, you are I always refer to
- 37:01Speaker 4: you as being so progressive in your approach because you
- 37:05Speaker 4: got it early, which is making yourself present and putting
- 37:12Speaker 4: yourself out there as an individual was more important than
- 37:15Speaker 4: just having to be boxed in by the own your
- 37:19Speaker 4: own identity of being whoever you think you are as
- 37:22Speaker 4: a singer, and by doing that limiting your engagement out there,
- 37:25Speaker 4: you know when you But but then again, sometimes I
- 37:29Speaker 4: feel that in the industry, you know, when whenever you
- 37:32Speaker 4: say that you're an influencer and you're an artist or
- 37:35Speaker 4: a singer, people look at the influencer part still in
- 37:38Speaker 4: this way like Okay, well does that mean that you're
- 37:40Speaker 4: not a serious singer, Whereas I feel it to be
- 37:43Speaker 4: opposite for you, I feel like it's it's a means
- 37:45Speaker 4: for you to put yourself out there and you know,
- 37:48Speaker 4: tell us about that.
- 37:49Speaker 6: I think I don't really relate to the phrase influencer.
- 37:52Speaker 6: I think I'm more of a content creator, Yeah, is
- 37:56Speaker 6: what I was during the pandemic, because like, yeah, like
- 38:00Speaker 6: created trends. Whereas like if I were an influencer, I
- 38:04Speaker 6: think that would have.
- 38:04Speaker 14: Been like, hey, guys, this is the bag I'm wearing.
- 38:08Speaker 14: This is like that, and there's nothing wrong with that.
- 38:11Speaker 14: It actually takes it takes a lot of effort to
- 38:15Speaker 14: get dull that like I could not.
- 38:17Speaker 6: So that's why I think I'm more of a creator.
- 38:19Speaker 6: So I've actually never like even considered myself as an influencer.
- 38:24Speaker 14: But I guess in a way, like you know.
- 38:27Speaker 6: Artists are influencers, right, because we wear certain products a
- 38:30Speaker 6: certain way, we live our lives a certain way. We
- 38:34Speaker 6: from the way we you know, hold our coffee cup
- 38:36Speaker 6: to what kind what are we drinking? Macha are we
- 38:38Speaker 6: drinking coffee? We are subliminally, you know, influencing people.
- 38:45Speaker 14: Probably with every post I make. Who knows what I'm
- 38:50Speaker 14: what I'm.
- 38:50Speaker 6: Influencing someone to think. But I guess I'm just not
- 38:54Speaker 6: an influencer in like probably the stereotypical way. I just
- 38:59Speaker 6: I just have no like I don't know about factor.
- 39:01Speaker 14: I have no clue. I lived the life.
- 39:04Speaker 6: It's been fun, Like it was really fun to like
- 39:06Speaker 6: do that. But I think I've always been like artists
- 39:10Speaker 6: first and then content creator. But yeah, I mean I
- 39:15Speaker 6: think it's a tricky balance. I deal with that balance
- 39:18Speaker 6: every day, but I'm learning to lean into to both
- 39:24Speaker 6: because I think the world is changing, like it's not
- 39:27Speaker 6: like the eighties, where the only time you saw the
- 39:31Speaker 6: artist was in what was published about them, and that
- 39:34Speaker 6: was someone else's words. Now it's like, you know, you
- 39:39Speaker 6: control the narrative a bit more, and you can literally
- 39:43Speaker 6: create a cult following just by saying stuff music aside,
- 39:47Speaker 6: Like music has just become like.
- 39:50Speaker 14: In addition to it, but it's mostly who you are.
- 39:54Speaker 6: And I guess that works out for me because I
- 39:57Speaker 6: think I'm great and I think I have a.
- 39:59Speaker 4: Lot of and you have a huge following as well, right,
- 40:02Speaker 4: and that's that's evidence enough.
- 40:05Speaker 6: Yeah, of course you know that was built by just
- 40:08Speaker 6: my sense of humor and showing that. But I'm constantly
- 40:10Speaker 6: struggling every day in every post to be like how
- 40:13Speaker 6: much of me do I want to show? And then
- 40:16Speaker 6: how much of the music do I show?
- 40:18Speaker 4: So you know interesting, I wanted to ask you about
- 40:23Speaker 4: your brand new single if I were there, and in
- 40:27Speaker 4: one more question. All right, So my next question is
- 40:29Speaker 4: a little bit of a lighthearted thing. You heard me
- 40:32Speaker 4: react by laughing when you pulled out this kind of
- 40:35Speaker 4: voice when you say, well, I'm going to be an influencer,
- 40:38Speaker 4: and but my reaction to that was more so towards
- 40:42Speaker 4: I think you have just a phenomenal vocal ability of
- 40:45Speaker 4: emulating some of the most kind of renowned personalities in
- 40:50Speaker 4: our in our in our culture. And I've seen you,
- 40:53Speaker 4: you know, imitate or however you want to call it,
- 40:56Speaker 4: people like Rihanna, Eminem and so on. So tell us
- 41:01Speaker 4: about that. And it's a talent. I cannot underline how
- 41:05Speaker 4: difficult it is to do. But you get the intonation down,
- 41:09Speaker 4: you get their cadence down. It's a tell us about this.
- 41:13Speaker 4: How did you pick this up?
- 41:17Speaker 14: I think, if you want to get real deep, I
- 41:21Speaker 14: just I don't know. It's just been able to do.
- 41:24Speaker 14: And then I started doing it as a party trick.
- 41:26Speaker 14: It's how I learned.
- 41:27Speaker 6: I just I think, like honestly, I just have to say,
- 41:30Speaker 6: like it is just natural, splash whatever, God give it,
- 41:33Speaker 6: like I didn't.
- 41:34Speaker 14: There's no special training. I just can do it.
- 41:36Speaker 6: My vocal cords whatever. There's some pretty physiology to explain
- 41:41Speaker 6: why I'm able to manipulate them. But also I just
- 41:45Speaker 6: like doing it, and it was my party trick, and
- 41:48Speaker 6: my mom always encouraged me to learn how to sing
- 41:52Speaker 6: like the person.
- 41:53Speaker 14: And then I just would do it and it would
- 41:55Speaker 14: make people laugh.
- 41:56Speaker 6: It would make people happy, it would impress people, and
- 42:01Speaker 6: you know, I had no clue that, like years later,
- 42:05Speaker 6: I would be doing that on like for millions of
- 42:10Speaker 6: people viewing and continuing, and like, you know, I I
- 42:15Speaker 6: own that part of myself completely. And it's what a
- 42:18Speaker 6: what an amazing thing to have such a stylistic voice
- 42:22Speaker 6: that someone wants to imitate it, you know.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, it's so cool how you do that.
- 42:31Speaker 4: So let's get into the single. Tell us about it
- 42:36Speaker 4: if I were there. Interesting title a first glance, seems
- 42:41Speaker 4: very personal. Tell us about the lyrics, and tell us
- 42:44Speaker 4: about the song and how it all came about, the producers,
- 42:47Speaker 4: the writers, all that.
- 42:48Speaker 6: Yeah, during the pandemic, I was living with my family,
- 42:53Speaker 6: my parents, and I moved back in with my parents
- 42:58Speaker 6: with children's immigant who understand what that feels, Like, I
- 43:01Speaker 6: think we all kind of moved back in and you know,
- 43:04Speaker 6: I literally had not had a romantic partner of any.
- 43:07Speaker 14: Sort for a while. Like I was just a little
- 43:09Speaker 14: kid on my phone kind of making videos all day
- 43:12Speaker 14: like I'm i O viral and I don't know I
- 43:16Speaker 14: made I just thought this was very normal and it
- 43:19Speaker 14: was really weird. But I was in Arizona.
- 43:21Speaker 6: I had no friends, and I was kind of famous,
- 43:24Speaker 6: like I was getting recognized. So I was like, I'm
- 43:26Speaker 6: going to make a dating profile, but I'm not going
- 43:29Speaker 6: to like use my actual identity and I'll just tell
- 43:32Speaker 6: the person later. So I made up a whole fake
- 43:34Speaker 6: dating profile. I said I went to like U of
- 43:36Speaker 6: A or ASU, and I kept getting them mixed up,
- 43:39Speaker 6: which worked against me because that person could tell I
- 43:41Speaker 6: said I was a marketing major, but there wasn't even
- 43:44Speaker 6: a marketing major ass the school. So the person I
- 43:47Speaker 6: was sketched out and I finally you know, revealed to
- 43:51Speaker 6: him my.
- 43:53Speaker 14: Identity and we started dating.
- 43:56Speaker 6: And well we weren't really dating, like we were seing
- 44:00Speaker 6: each other, but then he he just we didn't want
- 44:04Speaker 6: to acknowledge. It was so childless, where we're like, no,
- 44:07Speaker 6: we're not a boy for girlfriend, you know, like it
- 44:09Speaker 6: it's casual, it's casual. And we both were in such denial.
- 44:14Speaker 6: But then obviously we ended up dating because we just
- 44:17Speaker 6: had the strong feelings and I had to like you know,
- 44:20Speaker 6: hide the relationship completely from my parents, like they had
- 44:24Speaker 6: they had no clue, like I would just be like
- 44:26Speaker 6: I got my friends in Phoenix and I did have
- 44:28Speaker 6: friends in Phoenix, but he was also one of the friends.
- 44:32Speaker 6: But my goodness, yeah, it was like basically fake identity
- 44:36Speaker 6: led to a whole full.
- 44:37Speaker 14: Blown relationship off of hinge wow. So and it was long.
- 44:42Speaker 6: Distance because we lived hours apart, so I would just
- 44:44Speaker 6: be living my parents and facetiming him at night and
- 44:47Speaker 6: being like.
- 44:47Speaker 4: I miss you. And is the is the title of
- 44:50Speaker 4: reference to that long distance relationship?
- 44:53Speaker 14: Yes, mm hmm.
- 44:54Speaker 6: It's kind of both like if I were there, as
- 44:57Speaker 6: in like if we could bridge that gap and like
- 45:00Speaker 6: just say what we are and then just like be
- 45:02Speaker 6: grown up and be like Okay, I like do you
- 45:05Speaker 6: like me?
- 45:06Speaker 14: Can we date? Because that's a very like new age
- 45:10Speaker 14: thing now. I don't know what this generation is just
- 45:13Speaker 14: so like scared of commitment.
- 45:16Speaker 6: Yeah, everyone's so scared of commitment that we're just like, okay,
- 45:21Speaker 6: well I'm not going to fully say that I want this,
- 45:23Speaker 6: but I do. And then the other part of it
- 45:25Speaker 6: if I were there is like literally if I was
- 45:27Speaker 6: physically with you.
- 45:29Speaker 14: So it's id twofold.
- 45:30Speaker 6: And I wrote it with these amazing producers from Sweden
- 45:34Speaker 6: on a zoom session. Anders and Adrian such great guys.
- 45:38Speaker 6: Even went to Sweden. Met them later, but yeah, they
- 45:42Speaker 6: were just asking me about my life and yeah, I.
- 45:44Speaker 4: Like this guy's so cool. Well, without further reduce you,
- 45:49Speaker 4: but I think we should turn the microphone over to you.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Please do us the the pleasure here of introducing this
- 45:56Speaker 4: brand new track for us.
- 45:58Speaker 6: Hmmm, Hey guys, this is Shuba on the Bridge with
- 46:03Speaker 6: Sammy John and have to listen to if I were there,
- 46:08Speaker 6: my latest single suba.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Thank you so much for joining us today, I folks,
- 46:13Speaker 4: here's the song for you guys.
- 46:15Speaker 8: It's funny. Everybody thinks we're dating. Our chemistry got everyone debating,
- 46:20Speaker 8: but you know that I'm an animal.
- 46:22Speaker 7: Cantain me.
- 46:23Speaker 8: But what I like the most is you're the same way.

- 47:00Speaker 33: Then I am if I work there there, if I
- 47:11Speaker 33: work It's funny how sometimes you call me baby.
- 47:14Speaker 8: It kind of makes me think that things are changing
- 47:16Speaker 8: into you. Probably doesn't mean the same thing, but either way,
- 47:20Speaker 8: the sound of it's amazing.
- 47:22Speaker 7: Baby.
- 47:23Speaker 8: Sometimes we're just friends and sometimes women's up baby, even
- 47:29Speaker 8: if there's still some space between.
- 47:33Speaker 5: If I were with you and your.
- 47:34Speaker 8: Son apart, and we'll be saying up on, I just talk,
- 47:38Speaker 8: And when I'm laying in my bed looking a month bones,
- 47:41Speaker 8: when I'm miss you the most. If I were with you,

- 47:51Speaker 8: want to let go, that you re leak.
- 47:55Speaker 11: If I were.
- 48:13Speaker 8: Small pardon, we'd be saying up a night, just talking.

- 52:45Speaker 4: I want to give a big shout out to Shuba today.
- 52:49Speaker 4: Let me tell you what you guys heard about Shuba today.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Shubas figured out the cheek code. Well. Everybody else was
- 52:56Speaker 4: waiting to be discovered, waiting for the label, waiting for
- 52:59Speaker 4: the gate keeper, waiting for permission. She picked up the
- 53:03Speaker 4: tools that were already in her hands and she got
- 53:06Speaker 4: herself in front of the audience. No middleman, no machine,
- 53:11Speaker 4: just an artist and the people who needed to hear her.
- 53:15Speaker 4: And she did it so well that Al Rahiman noticed.
- 53:18Speaker 4: Think about that, one of the greatest composers alive maybe ever,
- 53:24Speaker 4: looked up from across an ocean and saw exactly what
- 53:27Speaker 4: I saw. A vocal genius, someone who understands her own
- 53:31Speaker 4: voice so completely that she can sit down beside it
- 53:35Speaker 4: and usher it into an uncanny imitation of some of
- 53:38Speaker 4: the biggest artists on the planet and then walk right
- 53:42Speaker 4: back into being nobody but herself. Don't let that aw
- 53:46Speaker 4: shucks fool you about Shuba. That ease that lightness, that's
- 53:52Speaker 4: not an accident, that's mastery wearing a smile, because here's
- 53:57Speaker 4: what Shiba understands. That the whole industry forgot. Personality is
- 54:01Speaker 4: what connects people, not soulless music, not unimaginative product built
- 54:07Speaker 4: by committee people. She sings the songs of her own life,
- 54:12Speaker 4: her love stories, her own truths, and she's built the
- 54:16Speaker 4: space for those truths to thrive. Call her a singer,
- 54:20Speaker 4: call her a content creator, call her whatever you want.
- 54:24Speaker 4: What I see as an artist running down the street
- 54:26Speaker 4: with the blueprint to the future in her hands, because
- 54:30Speaker 4: the future is this. The artist is the story now
- 54:33Speaker 4: and the song is just a product of the character
- 54:36Speaker 4: you're watching. And what makes Shuba special. The thing you
- 54:40Speaker 4: can't fake, the thing you always feel when it's missing,
- 54:44Speaker 4: is that she is authentic. You can always tell when
- 54:48Speaker 4: someone isn't. That's Shubah's that's the future. You heard it
- 54:53Speaker 4: here on the bridge. I'll be back to close out
- 54:56Speaker 4: the show after this song. This song is called tell
- 54:59Speaker 4: Me got an Odola one direction.
