Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Peyton, what is a foodie call?
- 0:01Speaker 2: We know booty calls, but what is a foodie call?
- 0:04Speaker 3: Well, basically, it's where people are admitting that they only
- 0:08Speaker 3: accepted a date mainly because of the free meal or
- 0:11Speaker 3: the free drinks.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Man, I get it, especially if it's a certain destination
- 0:15Speaker 4: that you've wanted to try.
- 0:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:17Speaker 4: And it's going to be free.
- 0:18Speaker 3: I mean.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Score.
- 0:19Speaker 5: Score.
- 0:20Speaker 3: And I mean.
- 0:20Speaker 4: You can talk to somebody for 45 minutes.
- 0:21Speaker 3: The foodie call is spiking between like Gen Z and
- 0:25Speaker 3: some younger millennials. 32%. are saying that they've done a
- 0:29Speaker 3: foodie call, 100%. And I'm like, same girl.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You've done it?
- 0:34Speaker 3: I've definitely done a foodie call. Oh, sure, like this guy,
- 0:37Speaker 3: he keeps bothering you. He really likes you. Can I please, please,
- 0:40Speaker 3: please take you out to eat? Sure, if you'll just
- 0:42Speaker 3: leave me alone and pay for my meal.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Okay, so do you have to somewhat like the person
- 0:47Speaker 2: a little bit? Because I don't know if I could
- 0:49Speaker 2: sit there for a free meal and be with someone
- 0:51Speaker 2: I don't want to be around.
- 0:51Speaker 4: It depends on where it is.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I mean, it depends on what you're eating. Yeah, I
- 0:54Speaker 1: would agree with that.
- 0:55Speaker 6: I would.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I mean, you'd have to be with me or with him.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I agree with you.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I would agree that you have to be able to
- 1:00Speaker 3: sit down and get through a conversation with somebody like
- 1:02Speaker 3: I'm not going to sit across with someone who I
- 1:04Speaker 3: can't stand just for some free chips and salsa or.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Look at them. You don't like their face. You guys
- 1:09Speaker 1: sit there and talk.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Beauty is within the beholder.
- 1:13Speaker 1: It's not always the face. A foodie call. So Peyton
- 1:16Speaker 1: admits that she has gone to dinner. Dinner?
- 1:19Speaker 3: Dinner or drinks.
- 1:21Speaker 1: JC, good morning. You have experienced a foodie call.
- 1:26Speaker 4: You know, I have.
- 1:30Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 1:32Speaker 5: I've so I've done the free food date thing, but
- 1:35Speaker 5: mine's like really bad, y'all, because I fully I fully
- 1:39Speaker 5: had a boyfriend.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Oh, did your boyfriend know what you were doing?
- 1:44Speaker 5: Oh, no, he knew. He knew we were like, y'all,
- 1:48Speaker 5: we were broke. And this guy from the gym kept
- 1:52Speaker 5: asking me out and was relentless about it. And he
- 1:55Speaker 5: was like, babe, go and like, bring me something back.
- 2:00Speaker 5: And so I, this poor guy, he took me to
- 2:03Speaker 5: a super expensive steakhouse and I ran up the tab
- 2:07Speaker 5: like $ 400. And I was texting my boyfriend. I was
- 2:12Speaker 5: at the table, like pictures of the menu. And I
- 2:13Speaker 5: was like, what do you want?
- 2:17Speaker 4: Shall I bring home the lobster mashed potatoes for you, dear?
- 2:20Speaker 1: That poor guy.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Full-on surf and turf. And it worked so well. And
- 2:27Speaker 5: we were like, this is a full-on thing that we
- 2:29Speaker 5: could do. That I would do it once a week
- 2:31Speaker 5: for a full year. And it was awesome.
- 2:35Speaker 1: The same guy?
- 2:38Speaker 5: No, not the same guy. It was different guys. I
- 2:41Speaker 5: would just get on Tinder, and I would swipe, and
- 2:44Speaker 5: I would just go on dates.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Oh, my gosh.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Okay.
- 2:46Speaker 1: That is the ultimate.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I'm like, you and your man were low-key scamming these dudes.
- 2:50Speaker 4: For sure.
- 2:51Speaker 3: For foodie calls, yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 5: No. I, like, should fully be on Dateline for this.
- 2:55Speaker 1: It's bad.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I can see that. She went on dates just to
- 3:00Speaker 4: eat dinner and bring home food for her boyfriend.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I just can't see you using something like that. Once
- 3:04Speaker 1: a week, you think you'd want to be with your
- 3:06Speaker 1: sick other. I just don't want to be... I mean,
- 3:08Speaker 1: that's full on, like, she didn't really care at all. Like,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I remember, like, back in the day, my friends would
- 3:14Speaker 1: be like, I don't know if I really like him
- 3:15Speaker 1: or not. And we're like, whatever, just go to dinner
- 3:17Speaker 1: with him. At the very least, it's a free dinner.
- 3:18Speaker 1: But it wasn't like, just go just because of dinner.
- 3:20Speaker 1: For the free dinner, right, right, right. All right, JC.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Girls gotta eat.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I guess so. And her boyfriend does, too, apparently. That's
- 3:27Speaker 1: a foodie call. Well, JC, it looks like we have
- 3:31Speaker 1: other foodie calls on the line, too. This is crazy. Yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 1: hold on. Hold on, JC.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Wow, wow. Hey, Dawn, you've had a foodie call?
- 3:38Speaker 4: So a guy.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Asked me out and I didn't want to go with him,
- 3:41Speaker 6: but he was going to take me to Fleming's and
- 3:42Speaker 6: I'd never been. So I was like, why not get
- 3:44Speaker 6: free food and drink? I mean, you don't have to
- 3:45Speaker 6: hook up with them or do anything. And it might
- 3:47Speaker 6: have made his night.
- 3:48Speaker 5: So why not?
- 3:48Speaker 6: I mean, I'm a single mom.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Why not? It made his night. That's exactly what you
- 3:54Speaker 1: got it right, Dawn.
- 3:54Speaker 4: And I'll tell you, that Fleming's steak is like second
- 3:58Speaker 4: to none. It's good.
- 4:00Speaker 6: He got free food and he got to hang out
- 4:01Speaker 6: with me. I mean, that's a win.
- 4:02Speaker 4: He did get to hang out with you.
- 4:05Speaker 1: How long was the dinner?
- 4:07Speaker 6: Oh, my God.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Too long.
- 4:09Speaker 1: That's right.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Two hours.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Two hours. And does he try to kiss you at
- 4:13Speaker 1: the end of the night or anything?
- 4:15Speaker 6: No. I mean, I doesn't leave me unintentionally. I think
- 4:18Speaker 6: he got it.
- 4:19Speaker 4: But it was good.
- 4:19Speaker 1: How many dinners did you take with the guy?
- 4:21Speaker 3: One dinner?
- 4:22Speaker 5: Two.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Two dinners.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:25Speaker 6: You can't just go one because then you look bad, right?
- 4:28Speaker 6: If you have to go back a second one, then
- 4:29Speaker 6: you can say, oh, I tried.
- 4:30Speaker 1: It didn't work out. Were they both at Fleming's?
- 4:34Speaker 6: No. The second one was at Uncorked.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Was where?
- 4:38Speaker 6: Uncorked?
- 4:39Speaker 1: I don't know that one. I don't know Uncorked.
- 4:41Speaker 6: It's like Corked, but it's the little tapas new place
- 4:46Speaker 6: next door to it.
- 4:47Speaker 5: It's really good, actually.
- 4:48Speaker 6: I highly recommend it. There's a plug for them.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Which one is fancier, Fleming's or Uncorked?
- 4:56Speaker 5: Oh, Fleming's for sure.
- 4:57Speaker 1: So maybe he was catching on because your third date
- 4:59Speaker 1: would have been Applebee's.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Third date would have been McDonald's drive-thru.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Dawn, thanks for calling in.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Thank you. Have a good day.
- 5:08Speaker 1: You too. That's classic. I just, I don't, I have
- 5:11Speaker 1: this pain in my stomach.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Like I, I just don't want to be with someone
- 5:15Speaker 2: anywhere that I don't enjoy.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I don't care what it is.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I feel like maybe that weird feeling. Have you ever
- 5:20Speaker 3: been foodie called before? Have you taken a couple of
- 5:23Speaker 3: people out and then like, dang, they just use me
- 5:25Speaker 3: for a meal.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You mean like coworkers? Probably. I guess it doesn't have
- 5:34Speaker 1: to be a romantic partner. I guess it could be anyone.
- 5:37Speaker 1: All right, we throw it out there. More foodie calls, 877-937-1047.
