- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
- 0:04In this episode, we're going to dive right back in
- 0:06to the order by Judge Sweet denying Glenn Maxwell and
- 0:11her attempt to get a summary judgment against Virginia Roberts.
- 0:15Forty one. Roberts freely and voluntarily contacted the police to
- 0:19come to her aid in two thousand and one and
- 0:21two thousand and two, but never reported to them that
- 0:24she was Epstein's sex slave. In August of two thousand
- 0:27and one, at age seventeen, while living in the same apartment,
- 0:31Roberts and Figueroa hosted a party with a number of guests.
- 0:34During the party, according to Roberts, someone entered Robert's room
- 0:38and stole five hundred dollars from her shirt pocket. Roberts
- 0:41contacted the police. She met and spoke with police officers
- 0:45regarding the incident and filed a report. She did not
- 0:48disclose to the officer that she was a sex slave.
- 0:51A second time, in June two thousand and two, Roberts
- 0:55contacted the police to report that her former landlord had
- 0:58left her belongings by the roadside and had litter mattress
- 1:02on fire. Again, Roberts met and spoke with law enforcement officers,
- 1:06but did not complain that she was the victim of
- 1:09any sexual trafficking or abuse, or that she was then
- 1:12being held as a sex slave. Roberts has objected to
- 1:16the statement as misleading and irrelevant, and further noted that
- 1:20she was fearful of Maxwell and Epstein and accordingly she
- 1:24would not have reported her abusers, and noted that she
- 1:27knew that Epstein had control over the Palm Beach Police
- 1:31forty two. From August two thousand and one until September
- 1:35two thousand and two, Epstein and Maxwell were almost entirely
- 1:38absent from Florida on documented travel unaccompanied by Roberts. Flight
- 1:43logs maintained by Dave Rogers, Epstein's private pilot, evidenced the
- 1:47substantial number of trips away from Florida that Epstein and
- 1:51Maxwell took unaccompanied by Roberts between August two thousand and
- 1:54one and September two thousand and two. Rogers maintained a
- 1:58log of all the flights on which Epstein and Maxwell
- 2:01traveled with them. Epstein additionally traveled with another pilot who
- 2:05did not keep such logs, and also occasionally traveled via
- 2:09commercial flights. For substantially all the thirteen months of the
- 2:13twenty two month period from November two thousand to September
- 2:17two thousand and two, Epstein was traveling outside of Florida
- 2:20unaccompanied by Roberts. During this same time period, Roberts was
- 2:25employed at various jobs, enrolled in school, and living with
- 2:28her boyfriend. Roberts has disputed this statement and noted that
- 2:32the flight logs produced in this matter provide substantive evidence
- 2:36of Roberts travel while in the control of Maxwell and Epstein,
- 2:39but are incomplete as Roberts also was flown by Maxwell
- 2:43on commercial flights. The flight logs and pilot testimony clearly
- 2:47prove that Roberts was flying domestic and internationally with Epstein
- 2:51at least thirty two times between December eleventh, two thousand,
- 2:55to July twenty eighth, two thousand and one, and June
- 2:57twenty first, two thousand to August twenty one first, two
- 3:00thousand and two. Maxwell has acknowledged the flight logs are
- 3:04incomplete and that there were several pilots and co pilots
- 3:08that flew Epstein and Maxwell. E. G. Rogers, Lawrence Larry Vasasky,
- 3:12Bill Hammond, Pete rathkeb, Gary Rocksburg, and Bill Murphy in
- 3:17multiple aircrafts, and that only Rogers produced flight records. Roberts
- 3:21states that Maxwell has also acknowledged that many of the
- 3:24girls recruited by Maxwell routinely traveled on commercial flights for
- 3:29the purposes of providing massages to Epstein or guests at
- 3:33Epstein's New York, New Mexico, or US Virgin Islands home.
- 3:37Roberts is further noted that her passport application, travel records,
- 3:41and witness testimony demonstrate flight logs are incomplete, that she
- 3:46also flew commercially while she worked for Maxwell and Epstein.
- 3:50Her passport application, for example, listed travel plans to London,
- 3:54and subsequent flight logs listed Roberts traveling to London with Maxwell, Epstein,
- 3:58and others. Roberts side the evidence she contends establishes her
- 4:02travel with Epstein and Maxwell, including massage training in Thailand.
- 4:06Forty three. Roberts and Figueroa shared a ninety three white
- 4:10Pontiac in two thousand and two and two thousand and one.
- 4:14Roberts freely traveled around the Palm Beach area in that vehicle.
- 4:17In August two thousand and two, Roberts acquired a Dodge
- 4:20Dakota pickup truck from her father. Figueroa used that vehicle
- 4:24in a series of crimes before and after Roberts left
- 4:27for Thailand. Roberts has denied the statement and has noted
- 4:32that she purchased a car from the ten thousand dollars
- 4:34payment she received from Epstein after she was forced to
- 4:37have sex with Prince Andrew in London at Maxwell's home
- 4:41forty four. Roberts held a number of jobs in two
- 4:44thousand and one and two thousand and two. During two
- 4:47thousand and one, in two thousand and two, Roberts was
- 4:49gainfully employed at several jobs. She worked as a waitress
- 4:52at Menino's Restaurant, at TGIF Friday's Restaurant, and at Roadhouse Grille.
- 4:58She was also employed at the court yar Yard Animal Hospital.
- 5:02Roberts has denied the statement and noted that in two
- 5:05thousand and one and two thousand and two she attempted
- 5:07to go back to school to earn her ged and
- 5:10tried unsuccessfully to hold down waitressing jobs. She earned two
- 5:14hundred and twelve dollars as a waitress, working briefly at
- 5:17Menino's Restaurant, and in two thousand and two earned four
- 5:19hundred and three dollars and sixty four cents working at
- 5:22the TGIF Friday's restaurant for a short time period. She
- 5:26earned about one thousand, two hundred and forty seven dollars
- 5:29and ninety cents at Roadhouse Grill until about March two
- 5:32thousand and two, and at the Courtyard Animal Hospital. She
- 5:35received payroll checks for weeks ending April twenty second, two
- 5:39thousand and two to June fourth, two thousand and two,
- 5:42earning a total of one thousand, five hundred and sixty
- 5:45one dollars and seventy five cents. Not long after she
- 5:48lost her job at the Courtyard Animal Hospital, she was
- 5:52traveling with Maxwell to the Bahamas, Santa Fe, and New York.
- 5:56Forty five Roberts traveled to Thailand in September two thousand
- 6:01and two to receive formal training as a masseuse. Figueroa
- 6:05drove her to the airport, and while there she initially
- 6:08contacted Figaroa frequently, incurring a phone bill of four thousand dollars.
- 6:12She then met the man who would go on to
- 6:13become her husband. While in Thailand, and decided to marry him.
- 6:16She thereafter seized all contact with Figaroa from October two
- 6:20thousand and two until two days before Figaroa's deposition in
- 6:24this matter in May of twenty sixteen. Roberts admitted traveling
- 6:28to Thailand to receive massage training in September two thousand
- 6:32and two, but noted that she was given an assignment
- 6:35from Maxwell and Epstein that she had to recruit another
- 6:38underage girl from Thailand and bring that young girl back
- 6:41to Epstein. Roberts stated that she was expected to return
- 6:45to Epstein and Maxwell upon completion of her massage training
- 6:49and assignment, and that instead she escaped to Australia, where
- 6:53she remained in hiding from Maxwell and Epstein for several years.
- 6:57Forty six, Detective josephrood Ary investigated Epstein and fell to
- 7:02uncover any evidence that Maxwell was involved in sexual abuse
- 7:05of miners, sexual trafficking, or production or possession of child pornography.
- 7:11Riccary served as the lead detective from the Palm Beach
- 7:14Police Department charged with investigating Epstein. That investigation commenced in
- 7:19two thousand and five. Riccary worked only on the Epstein
- 7:22case for an entire year. He reviewed previous officer's reports
- 7:27and interviews, conducted numerous interviews of witnesses and alleged victims, himself,
- 7:32reviewed surveillance footage of the Epstein home, participated in and
- 7:36had knowledge of the search warrant executed on the Epstein home,
- 7:40and testified regarding the case before the Florida State grand
- 7:43jury against Epstein. Riccary's investigation revealed that not one of
- 7:49the alleged Epstein victims ever mentioned Maxwell's name, and she
- 7:53was never considered a suspect by the government. None of
- 7:56Epstein's alleged victims said that they had seen Maxwell at
- 7:59Epstein's home, nor said that they had been recruited by her,
- 8:02nor paid any money by her, nor told what to
- 8:05wear or how to act by her. Indeed, none of
- 8:07Epstein's alleged victims ever reported to the government they had
- 8:11met or spoken to Maxwell. Maxwell was not seen coming
- 8:15or going from the house during the law enforcement surveillance
- 8:18of Epstein's home. The arrest warrant did not mention Maxwell,
- 8:21and her name was never mentioned before the grand jury.
- 8:25No property belonging to Maxwell, including sex toys or child pornography,
- 8:30was seized. From Epstein's home during the execution of the
- 8:33search warrant. Riccary, when asked to describe everything that you
- 8:37believe you know about Glenn Maxwell's sexual trafficking conduct, replied,
- 8:41I don't. He confirmed he has no knowledge about Maxwell
- 8:45sexually trafficking anybody. Riccary also has no knowledge of Robert's
- 8:50conduct that is subject to this lawsuit. Roberts has denied
- 8:54the statement and noted that Riccary you wanted to speak
- 8:56to Maxwell, but she did not return his calls, and
- 8:59he concluded that Maxwell's role was to procure girls for Epstein.
- 9:04Roberts further noted that in the execution of the search warrant,
- 9:08Stationary was found in the home bearing Maxwell's name, and
- 9:11notes were written by house staff to Maxwell and message
- 9:14beads uncovered in trash pulls revealing numerous calls left at
- 9:18the house for Maxwell, indicating she was staying in the
- 9:22house during the days when Epstein was engaging in illegal
- 9:25sex acts with miners. Roberts further noted that a walk
- 9:29through video that was taken during the execution of the
- 9:32search warrant revealed photos of topless females at the home,
- 9:36including a photograph of Maxwell naked hanging in the home.
- 9:40Alfred ol Rodriguez, the house butler from two thousand and
- 9:43four through two thousand and five, a time period that
- 9:46included daily sexual abuse of underage females, testified that Maxwell
- 9:50kept a list of the local girls who were giving
- 9:53massages at her desk, and that Maxwell kept nude photos
- 9:56of girls on her computer. Roberts states that Recari testified
- 10:00that when the search warrant was executed, the house had
- 10:03been sanitized and the computers removed from the home. Roberts
- 10:08states that the co conspirator who maintained direct contact with
- 10:11many underage victims was Kellen, whose sole responsibility was to
- 10:15schedule underage girls to visit Epstein for sex and reported
- 10:19directly to Maxwell. Figueroa testified that Maxwell personally requested that
- 10:25he find and bring girls to Ebstein for sex once
- 10:28Roberts had escaped, and that when he brought the girls,
- 10:31Maxwell interacted with him that Maxwell was the boss and
- 10:35that she knew everything that was going on. Forty seven,
- 10:38No nude photograph of Roberts was displayed in Epstein's home.
- 10:42Epstein's housekeeper, Alessi, never saw any photographs of Virginia Roberts
- 10:46in Epstein's home, Wherecari entered Epstein's home in two thousand
- 10:49and two to install security cameras to catch a thief,
- 10:52and did not observe any child pornography within the home,
- 10:56including on Epstein's desk in his office. Roberts has deny
- 11:00this statement and noted that Maxwell had pornography on her computer,
- 11:04that there was a collage of nude photos in Epstein's closet,
- 11:08that the collage was taken into evidence by Ricari, who
- 11:11testified to that fact in his deposition. That Rizzo, a
- 11:14visitor to the home on numerous occasions, was reprimanded by
- 11:18Maxwell for looking at the nude photos, and that the
- 11:20search warrant revealed photographs of nudity displayed, including photographs of
- 11:25Maxwell herself in the nude Schoberg testified that Maxwell bought
- 11:29her a camera for the specific purpose of her taking
- 11:32nude photos of herself, and Roberts Is testified that there
- 11:36was a nude photograph of her at the house. Forty eight,
- 11:41Roberts drafted a journal describing individuals to whom claims she
- 11:45was sexually trafficked, as well as her memories and thoughts
- 11:48about her experiences with Epstein. In twenty thirteen, she and
- 11:52her husband created a bonfire in her backyard in Florida
- 11:56and burned the journal, together with other documents in her possession.
- 12:00Ertz also kept a dream journal regarding her thoughts and
- 12:03memories that she possessed in January twenty sixteen. To date,
- 12:07Roberts cannot locate the dream journal. Forty nine Roberts publicly
- 12:12peddled a story. Beginning in twenty eleven. Roberts granted journalists
- 12:16church Er extensive interviews that resulted in seven widely distributed articles.
- 12:20From March twenty eleven through January twenty fifteen. Churcher regularly
- 12:26communicated with Roberts and her attorneys or other agents. From
- 12:30early twenty eleven to the present day, Roberts received approximately
- 12:35one hundred and sixty thousand dollars for her stories and
- 12:37pictures that were published by many news organizations. Roberts has
- 12:43denied this statement in part and admitted it in part,
- 12:46noting that in twenty eleven Roberts was still in hiding
- 12:49from Epstein and Maxwell in Australia and not looking to
- 12:52sell anything or even speak with anyone about what had
- 12:55happened to her. Churcher located Roberts and impressed the importance
- 12:59of Robert's standing up to those who had harmed her
- 13:02and speaking with federal authorities. Roberts did so in twenty eleven,
- 13:06bringing the abuse of Maxwell and Epstein to public light
- 13:09to prevent their continued abuse of others. Roberts agreed to
- 13:12be interviewed by Churcher and was compensated for sharing her story,
- 13:17which came at the heavy price of being publicly scrutinized.
