- 0:00You have arrived. Welcome to the Aspy world.
- 0:04Here's where we talk about anything and everything ASD in
- 0:07an upbeat and informative way. And now here's your man on the
- 0:11spectrum, your autism ambassador, Daniel Morgan Jones.
- 0:19Let's go, guys. What is going on?
- 0:22Oh my goodness, it's so good to be back doing podcasts with
- 0:25people I really already know because it's so much calmer,
- 0:28right? So today my lovely guest is the
- 0:30awesome, the Netflix famous comedian and all around Internet
- 0:36influencer. Because look, Doctor Mike,
- 0:38right? Like you're in pretty much all
- 0:39his videos. So it's Pamela Schuler.
- 0:42I hope I said that right, Right. He did Schuler like Mueller.
- 0:45Schuler like Mueller, right? But you didn't get a day off.
- 0:47Like what? What?
- 0:48I need a day off and. We all need a day off.
- 0:51Yeah, You're going to go to Mike's house and, like, move in,
- 0:53right? That's your good day off.
- 0:56So if anybody doesn't know, right, what the hell we're
- 0:59talking about is Pamela and I, we met, oh, God, about five
- 1:03years ago, 2019. Oh, my goodness.
- 1:05Four years ago. Five years ago for what was it
- 1:09called? Link 20.
- 1:10What was this thing called? It was at MIT, but I don't
- 1:13remember the. Yeah, just do.
- 1:14Just do. That sounds way better.
- 1:15Yeah, we were. Yeah.
- 1:16We went to MIT together. What?
- 1:18I'm going to say, you know, we're alumni.
- 1:19You know what I mean? Well, we're some kind of alumni
- 1:20from MIT. Anyway, we hung out at MIT and
- 1:22we literally had no idea what we were doing for like 10 days.
- 1:25And we goofed about. And then we got some kind of
- 1:27weird qualification, a bit of it.
- 1:28It was great. And we had a load of free food.
- 1:30The food was great. Nothing makes me happier than an
- 1:34open like drink bar with coffees and seltzers and sodas.
- 1:38And that's like the unlimited beverages is my favorite thing.
- 1:44The hype was yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, of course.
- 1:47And, and they I think what, what else did we do?
- 1:49We went on like a couple of fields that went to like the,
- 1:51the Google place, right? We went to the Google and they
- 1:53gave us they gave us food. It was, it was great.
- 1:56I think the coolest part was the people we met.
- 1:58That was it for me because I'm still friends with so many of
- 2:01the the crew from there. Yeah, exactly.
- 2:03Like especially Ben, do you remember Bench?
- 2:05Is it Shepherd, the guy who was running the, he was the MIT guy
- 2:09from ESPN. He's do social media ESPN.
- 2:11Well, anyway, he he was one of the lecturers.
- 2:14He was the main guy. Come on, Papa.
- 2:16Yeah, yeah. So I like I I talked to him
- 2:19pretty. He he quoted on my book, right.
- 2:21The guy's a ledge. I love the guy because he's just
- 2:24as much of A social media in it as me.
- 2:25So I was like, oh, man, he's a good guy.
- 2:27And also, do you remember we we we had a lecture from her name
- 2:33was Courtney. I can't remember her last name.
- 2:38She has C2 management. She did like management for
- 2:41yeah, yeah. So what's really funny, me and
- 2:44Alex, Alex Waltz, right? And James Rath, we were in LA
- 2:46doing Vidcon and we were get we were in this like crazy like
- 2:49celebrity party and Jay Shetty and and Courtney were there.
- 2:55She was like, dude, I was like, holy shit.
- 2:57Like we're all like, like, wait, what's going on?
- 2:59Like, and it was just great because we just like, it was
- 3:02just great. It was like an impromptu MIT
- 3:05meet up. Anyway, it was so good.
- 3:08And yeah, and yeah, it's just so much.
- 3:10And I think so many of of the alumni from there are in LA now.
- 3:13So this time I'm going back, it's going to it's going to be
- 3:15sick. Emily Ledoux's in New York.
- 3:19We've got a few. We've got a good mix.
- 3:21But like James did his little, his not a little.
- 3:24It was cool. He did ATV like a series, docu
- 3:28series that I was a part of. I've seen in touch with a bunch
- 3:31of the people. Yeah, I think we did have a
- 3:33group chat at one point, but I I think I I don't know if I still
- 3:37have it on my fault. But anyway, but like, you know,
- 3:39most of the people, I think we follow each other on socials and
- 3:41it's like just dead cool to keep up with you because it's like at
- 3:43least we're all doing crazy shit.
- 3:44So that's the background of me having a Pamela know each other
- 3:47and we rode on a on a big kind of like canoe thing, right The
- 3:53we did. And rowing, yeah, it's just like
- 3:57a not the best idea to put all of us with different
- 4:00disabilities in a rowboat. And I've never left.
- 4:02I don't. I think I laughed so hard I was
- 4:04crying like, I have threats. I'm 4 foot 6 1/2 between all of
- 4:10us. Like we had James, who's blind,
- 4:12who was like, don't guys, I'll. Steer Angel has one arm.
- 4:17We're like, it's like OK, Angel has like a robotic arm, like
- 4:20which side are we going on? Like and she had that cool
- 4:23thing. She had that like the ring
- 4:24thing. I was like dude, like she just
- 4:26kicked ass. I was like sweating.
- 4:28She was like not even breaking a sweat.
- 4:29I was. Like, oh, I love doing it, but
- 4:31I'm a little too short for it and it kept knocking me
- 4:34backwards. But again, we like we leaned
- 4:37into how funny it was. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:41I don't. I don't think I've ever laughed
- 4:43as hard as that night on that. It was like because we had a BBQ
- 4:47at the end of it, right? You what?
- 4:49We had a BBQ at the end of it, remember?
- 4:51Like there was a BBQ when we had those feet.
- 4:53Tell you what, nobody told us how heavy those boats would be.
- 4:57We had to carry them ourselves. Oh, I didn't help.
- 5:00Oh, Princess. Flipping Pamela anyway, but yes,
- 5:05so Pamela, I invited Pamela onto the show because not only is she
- 5:09like super funny and brilliant and beautiful, Pamela also has
- 5:12stress syndrome, which she she spoke about, which is one of the
- 5:15most interesting conditions. And Pamela, my first question
- 5:18right is, is, is Tourette A neurological condition?
- 5:21Like, yeah, is that what class does right?
- 5:23Neurological. It's neurological disorder and
- 5:25it means that that people do movements and noises that are
- 5:28uncontrollable, that we call tics TICS, not TICKS.
- 5:32Those are bugs but I don't want. But we all.
- 5:35It all looks different for all of us.
- 5:37So not everyone yells bad words, which is what like South Park
- 5:40likes you to think. After every about 5 people with
- 5:43threats, only one has an additional diagnosis of yelling
- 5:45words or phrases. But all of us do uncontrollable
- 5:48and repetitive movements and noises.
- 5:50I have done that before. Oh man, that's interesting you
- 5:55you said repetitive movements and noises.
- 5:58So with autism, right? I have, so I have ticks, I have
- 6:01to actually medication helps. The medication I'm on actually
- 6:04helps reduce the amount because my ticks are kind of like
- 6:06nervous, I forget like super, super nervous.
- 6:09And what's really interesting is that autistic individuals will
- 6:14do things repetitively a lot of the time.
- 6:17So I have like a lot of repetitive things that I do and,
- 6:21and that's really interesting. Do you think there's like a a
- 6:23crossover there between those types of behaviours and like
- 6:25neurodevelopmental issues and autism?
- 6:27I do, I have a number of friends who are autistic and we get to
- 6:31compare and contrast and there's a bunch of things that we both
- 6:34do. It just feels like it comes from
- 6:36different reasons, if that makes sense.
- 6:39Like Tourette's lives in a different part of the brain.
- 6:42So Tourette's is more closely related to Parkinson's than
- 6:47other things, at least from my reading.
- 6:49But I'm not a doctor, so who really knows?
- 6:52Get my comaphone, ask him quick. Questions for me all the time.
- 6:57I have a few doctor friends who regularly receive pictures that
- 7:01I find on the Internet of just like diagnosis and so definitely
- 7:07overlap. But I also, a lot of people with
- 7:10threats have an, it's an umbrella disorder, so we have
- 7:13other things. So like, I also have obsessive
- 7:14compulsive disorder. There's a lot of overlap there,
- 7:18yeah. Dude, that's like super
- 7:20interesting because like so within autism you have all of
- 7:23these like the you have these comorbid Co occurring
- 7:29conditions, right? And it's kind of like you never
- 7:31really no, no one ever goes like, hey, so you're only
- 7:34awesome spectrum and that's it. That's not that's not the only
- 7:36badge you carry, kind of like with the treadsome, right, But
- 7:39really interesting. You know, somebody asked me the
- 7:41other day. They said and I did it.
- 7:43I think I did it on a TikTok in in a reply, somebody said, what
- 7:46is the worst like issue? Like, you know, of all the
- 7:48issues you have, what's the worst thing?
- 7:49What is it? Something relates awesome, blah,
- 7:51blah, blah. I said by far the worst thing is
- 7:52having OCD because especially for an autistic person, right,
- 7:56just from and then I'm going to ask, I'm going to get into this
- 7:58right now. The reason I'm saying is because
- 8:00you have OCD is something that you have to do because you
- 8:04believe that if you don't do it, something excessively terrible
- 8:06is going to happen. You have this catastrophic
- 8:07fantasy, right? And with autism and repetitive
- 8:10behavior or autistic OCD, you do things in a repetitive way
- 8:13because you get enjoyment from those things like the Mario
- 8:15Kondo thing, right? You do the things you get
- 8:16enjoyment of them. You feel spark.
- 8:18But I despise, I actually never use this word, so apologize.
- 8:21I hate this is what I never used.
- 8:23I hate OCD with a passion like it's, it's like a it's like a
- 8:27vine that grows in your head. It's like a disease.
- 8:28It's horrible and it's the most debilitating part of my
- 8:32conditions of all of them. It is so, so talk to me about
- 8:35OCD. What's your OCD like?
- 8:36What's your experience with it? If you're OK, if you're
- 8:38comfortable, talk about. That oh, I'm an open book.
- 8:41So I like to say that at any given time, one of the two is in
- 8:43the driver's seat. Either Tourette's is in the
- 8:45driver's seat or OCD is in the driver's seat.
- 8:47And sometimes they work together.
- 8:49I have plenty of jokes about how they're best friends.
- 8:51Twins, yeah. Oh my gosh.
- 8:53Or like, or sometimes it works in my favorite one of my
- 8:55favorite stories is I was coming back from a show alone at New
- 8:57York Penn Station at 3:00 in the morning and you don't want to
- 9:01make eye contact with anyone at any o'clock in the day.
- 9:03New York Penn Station. And I accidentally made eye
- 9:05contact with the with the gentleman.
- 9:06And because I have Tourettes I winked at him and he like
- 9:09started walking towards me and then OCD kicked in and I winked
- 9:13at him 44 more times and he like turned around and walked away
- 9:16and I was like Oh my God OCD for the assist I was going.
- 9:20To say, yeah, that just won, yeah.
- 9:22He was like, even that's too weird for me and he pieced out,
- 9:25which I appreciate. But I OCD when it's bad, it is a
- 9:31a struggle and I have a great team of people in my world to
- 9:34help manage it. I've got, you know, great
- 9:37psychiatrist, psychologist, neurologist, all the all of
- 9:40them. So.
- 9:42I I pull in help when I need it. That's really interesting.
- 9:46How do you how do you find like because on a on a day-to-day
- 9:49basis, the OCD like I, I try my best.
- 9:55I'm working with a therapist right now and it's amazing.
- 9:56She's got ADHD. Our sessions are just absolutely
- 9:58off the chance but like because ADHD and oxen I.
- 10:01Think about OCD but you end painting a ceiling.
- 10:04Yeah, dude, we, we, you know, we were both in a different country
- 10:06by the end of the conversation, right?
- 10:08But yeah, you know, and it was like, what the fuck?
- 10:10Honestly, the amount of like digression in those sessions,
- 10:12honestly, we, we booked it. It's supposed to be like 1/2 an
- 10:15hour session, but they end up being like an hour and a half
- 10:16because of all the bullshit. We'd Anyway, she's a lovely
- 10:20woman, but she's ADHD and it's amazing.
- 10:22So she's so she's working with me at the moment to kind of help
- 10:25come over some of the big ones I have and like some of the big
- 10:28ones I have are like are like the specific, this is the worst
- 10:33one, right? I got to say the worst one.
- 10:34So, and it happened from trauma, right?
- 10:37I remember I was taking a shower when I in the first apt I was
- 10:40in, I was taking a shower in the apartment.
- 10:42I had a music blessing because like, you know, when you're
- 10:43living in London, you're like, yeah, so I have music playing.
- 10:45I was in the shower and then I come out of the shower and like
- 10:47everything's great. And then I, I make myself like
- 10:50a, a sausage sandwich, you know, very British.
- 10:53And then I get this like, yeah, it's amazing.
- 10:56And then I get this, I get this like phone call from my
- 11:00girlfriend's mother saying unfortunately her father had
- 11:02just dropped dead. And I was like, oh, shoot.
- 11:05So I was like, damn. Anyway, So then every time I
- 11:08went to go for a shower after this, I can't listen to music.
- 11:11Right. But then what happens with the
- 11:12OCD is that it, it's not only I can't listen to music, I Can't
- 11:15Sing in the shower and I can't listen to music in my head with
- 11:18OCD, mate. And awesome echolalia.
- 11:20I'm just like, there's always a song in my head, right?
- 11:23So I'm like, I'm scared to go into the shower.
- 11:25It's like holy, not like I shower every single day, but I'm
- 11:27just saying going through the shower comes the task.
- 11:29So to me like that, how debilitating would that be,
- 11:33right? If you think I can't even shower
- 11:34after having a run because I'm scared that it's going to kill
- 11:37my family members, right? Like it's enough and it sounds
- 11:39crazy. You say it out loud and you're
- 11:41like. Not to someone else with OCD.
- 11:44Yeah, exactly right. I like the idea.
- 11:46Yeah. You know what I mean?
- 11:48Like it sounds when you say it to yourself, you're like, I'm
- 11:51insane. But you're not right?
- 11:52You're just, you're battling with this, like this, this, I
- 11:55don't know, It's like a power struggle, right?
- 11:57When I was a kid, OCD. So when when I was a kid I had a
- 12:01very severe case of Tourette's. I still have a severe case but
- 12:04it's less noticeable to everyone else at this point.
- 12:06I feel it constantly often hurts but it's not as noticeable as a
- 12:10kid. Like broke my neck from throwing
- 12:11my head back. Was out of school for years and
- 12:14OCD was just as bad And as a like in middle school I used to
- 12:17set an alarm clock for every hour in the night as a kid to
- 12:21smell the carpet to see if there was a fire.
- 12:24I used to wake up in the middle of the night and walk around my
- 12:27home, call house and check every doorknob to see if there was a
- 12:30fire. I had a real fear of axe
- 12:32murders. I don't even mean the way to
- 12:35murder people anymore, but I had and it wasn't murders.
- 12:37Was you a fireman? Yeah, it was like, specifically
- 12:41axe murders. And so like every night, I would
- 12:44open my door and yell, I see you.
- 12:48I'm calling the police because I believed that if there was an
- 12:51axe murderer who heard me say that, they'd be like, this would
- 12:54be scattering the little girl. One saw me.
- 12:55I got to go. I got to not do a murder.
- 12:57Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:00I get it. It makes so much sense.
- 13:02But you know what's crazy? Like it, it's scary how I
- 13:06totally get that. I'm like, yeah, yeah, dude, like
- 13:08I'm with you all the way. Because like, it makes sense.
- 13:10Like I'm like, yeah, man, you stay away.
- 13:13I'll come and shout down the hallway, you know, one of the
- 13:16ones that I think it, it's OK when you're in like your home,
- 13:19right? Like going in and out of the
- 13:20shower and doing all this stuff. But like one of my worst ones is
- 13:23I like to run 5 kilometers or 6 kilometers.
- 13:25Otherwise in miles, like 3-4 miles, I don't know.
- 13:28And when I'm running, when I come off the sidewalk onto the
- 13:32road and then back on, I have to use like left right foot first
- 13:35and left foot back on. But some sort of messes up.
- 13:39Yeah, but, and then, but then it like, and then I have to go back
- 13:41to the start and then I go, well, how far back do I go?
- 13:44And then I'm like, honestly, dude, like so a 20 minute run
- 13:46could take me a couple of hours easy.
- 13:48And I'm like, and people look at you like, what is this guy
- 13:52doing? You know, all these people like,
- 13:53I don't know, Mr. Jones is walking his dog.
- 13:55He's like, what are you doing, man?
- 13:58I'm like, yeah. And you panic because you feel
- 14:01like you look like an idiot, right?
- 14:02And so I think being and, and, you know, having public, having
- 14:07issues that you have when you're out in public, you can't control
- 14:09and you'll know exactly. You know, it's probably the most
- 14:13like, you die a little bit inside, don't you?
- 14:16Yeah, I just did a keynote about how what I sometimes bark from
- 14:21Tourette's and how barking taught me everything I need to
- 14:24know about fear. Because it was so scary to just
- 14:27be in public for so many years with the fear of barking or
- 14:30barking in public, and how that changed my perception of the
- 14:34world. And now I've leaned into it.
- 14:35If I'm going to bark, I'm going to bark.
- 14:38But it was like a whole journey of kind of embracing the fear
- 14:41around just being myself. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:44And you got you got to just kind of go.
- 14:46I always call it the John Tucker theory, right?
- 14:50Have you seen John Tucker Must Die in that movie?
- 14:53OK, so there's a part of the movie where this the girl,
- 14:56because he's sleeping with all those girls, right?
- 14:57And they're all trying to get their own background.
- 14:58He's a nice looking dude and but he's a bit of a jock, right?
- 15:01Or he's a typical Chad. So they're like, oh, we're going
- 15:03to get rid of all his underwear and replace it with girl thongs,
- 15:06right? Like, you know, really tight
- 15:07panties. And so he goes the only thing,
- 15:11so he's wearing these panties and he goes to basketball
- 15:12practice and all the dudes are like, yeah, and there are all
- 15:14the dudes like, dude, like, why the hell are you wearing
- 15:16panties? And I'm trying to embarrass him.
- 15:18And then he's like, dude, these are giving me so much more
- 15:20freedom to play basketball. Like you need to get yourself a
- 15:23better. And then all the dudes just
- 15:24like, OK, well, this guy makes sense.
- 15:25You have to own it. You have to embrace it.
- 15:26It's got the John Tucker syndrome.
- 15:27That's what I call it anyway. And you're absolutely right.
- 15:30That's the only way to deal with it, Right.
- 15:32OK, so two things because I got a second question.
- 15:36But something really interesting.
- 15:37I back in my sleep also which is really interesting and I I don't
- 15:42even know what like I've always done.
- 15:43And I love that if we first of all the two of us hanging out,
- 15:48we somehow are like mirrored but the same.
- 15:53Like what the fuck? Like, you know, it's funny.
- 15:54Like like ex girlfriends, like you were barking and you sleep.
- 15:57I'm like, oh, weird. It's like I swear I'm not a well
- 16:00wolf. Like I swear.
- 16:01Like was it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 16:03Yeah. So you like it?
- 16:05You. Know so yesterday nobody sat in
- 16:08the front row, which is so normal and I'm not like I'm I do
- 16:11typical stand up, but this was like comedy and storytelling
- 16:14about inclusion and mental health, which is really how I
- 16:16make a living at this point. I do companies and schools and
- 16:18everything, but nobody's in the front row.
- 16:20And without even thinking about it, I said I bark, but I don't
- 16:23bite. Dude, like I bet their reaction
- 16:29was a bit like like. A number of them, usually before
- 16:33so I. Think yeah, yeah, they were
- 16:37scared of you, like jumping down to the stage, just taking a
- 16:39chunk out of the D. Russian.
- 16:42I'm not going to bark and then bite you.
- 16:43Although here's the deal. Yeah, it.
- 16:45Depends. I might Might.
- 16:48Yeah, it depends. Don't piss me off, but it's it's
- 16:53funny, like the backing thing, like and then so I just kind of
- 16:55like adopted it something I do. And so like, especially when
- 16:58like like, like, like current government was like, yeah,
- 17:00you're backing in your sleep. And I'm like, yeah, what the
- 17:03heck, I do, yeah. Yeah.
- 17:07Yeah, it's thumbs up. The Love Hot 1's pretty cool,
- 17:09right? It's like, can you do it?
- 17:18Amazing. That was so cool.
- 17:20OK, so my my question is how does Tourette's impact your live
- 17:27performances or if at all? It does and it's kind of
- 17:32different. So one of the things with
- 17:34Tourette's is it's constantly, for me at least, shifting and
- 17:36evolving. So I might have one tick for a
- 17:38week or a month and then it changes.
- 17:41And so little things like I request a hands free microphone
- 17:44if my set is longer than 10 minutes because my hands tick
- 17:47more than any other part of my body.
- 17:48They're constantly I, I haven't held a pen or pencil in 25
- 17:52years, so I'll often hold a mic in the Crest of my hand or like
- 17:55in this Crest of my arm if they don't have one for me.
- 17:59Sometimes stress effects my breathing because it right like
- 18:02the way I talk and breathe. And so I when that's a tick
- 18:06that's happening, I will get dizzy mid state, like mid show.
- 18:09If I'm doing, I do like an hour 15.
- 18:11So you know, 40 minute. No one wants to hear me talk
- 18:15that long, truly. What do you beat yourself up?
- 18:19My family will constantly be like, we don't understand why
- 18:21people pay you to talk. We have to listen to it.
- 18:23And I was like exactly. I get the same argument.
- 18:26Honestly. Tell me about.
- 18:28It so it's like kind of it's always shifting sometimes.
- 18:33Well, I always wear like good flat shoes on stage because
- 18:36otherwise I will weeble wobble and I will fall down.
- 18:39But it's always shifting and I kind of have to like, look at
- 18:43what shows are that week and what Tourette's is doing and
- 18:45come up with a game plan. Geez.
- 18:47So you have to evolve with it, right?
- 18:49Like it's a yeah, yeah. That's why I think I'm so
- 18:52innovative and creative cuz I'm doing it just to live in my own
- 18:55world and then my career too. Dude, that's so clever.
- 19:00I think. You know, like I don't have like
- 19:03none of my ticks present themselves.
- 19:05Like I've never been on stage and had a tick, right?
- 19:08And I guess like the ticks that come with like autism are very
- 19:10like few and far between. And it's kind of rare, right?
- 19:13But when you're dealing with on a daily basis, like you must be
- 19:16able to just think like, OK, what's what I'm going to do to
- 19:17to overcome this or I'm going to so you make your own systems,
- 19:20right? Yeah, and I tick, you might not
- 19:22see it a ton on zip. I'm ticking at least every
- 19:25second. I mean, it's it is something
- 19:27that my body is ticking constantly.
- 19:30And so yeah, I have to like kind of name it, be honest with it
- 19:34and then come up with a game plan.
- 19:36But I like, yeah, that's a lot. And it's hard.
- 19:40And it's like sometimes my body really is hurts or is tired or
- 19:43even in pain, which I just said hurts.
- 19:45So twice I said that. But sometimes I have to like get
- 19:49really a lot. I get creative, but that
- 19:51translates into my world and like I have a whole living now
- 19:54as a creative human because I think I would kind of meet the
- 19:58world where it is, just like I have to meet myself where it is.
- 20:00Does that make sense? Yeah, 100% because it's like.
- 20:03Because it wasn't succinct, but. Rather than being something like
- 20:06your life each go. Well, look, these are the caps
- 20:07I'm dealt. This is my life.
- 20:08This is who I am, right? I'm gonna do it just like me.
- 20:10I can't. Sorry, go ahead.
- 20:12No, no, please. That's I have a master's in
- 20:15advocacy and what I work with communities I like, I'll often
- 20:18do a show and then workshop. So with companies, I'll do
- 20:20training and, and, or like summer camps, I'll work with
- 20:22summer camp staff. And a lot of what I talk about
- 20:24is how we can use creativity to meet people where they are
- 20:27because every single person is so incredibly different.
- 20:29And so creativity is about trying two or three things.
- 20:32And if it doesn't work, trying three more until we can set that
- 20:35person up for success, which is what I do.
- 20:38You like split testing the, the, the, the hacks, right Hello.
- 20:46I think it's, I think it's really interesting because like,
- 20:49you know, a lot of people will like, and I have this thing I
- 20:51say like, you know, God has put you on this earth for a reason,
- 20:55right? You're here for a reason, right?
- 20:55And, and you have a, a thing to follow through with, right?
- 20:58You have a plan. And so life is happening for
- 21:01you. It's not happening to you.
- 21:02You know, there's a reason why that, you know you have ticks.
- 21:04There's a reason why my brain is a bit messed up sometimes
- 21:06because we're supposed to learn from this, right?
- 21:09Because like in school you learn and then you take a test, but
- 21:11God gives you a test and then you learn, right?
- 21:12Like that's how I view the universe, right?
- 21:14And I'm like, oh, damn. So I always think to myself,
- 21:17like, you can never really beat yourself up too much and be
- 21:20like, oh, you know, I feel like I just go, OK, what are the
- 21:22cards I've got? You know, like, let's go play
- 21:24Uno, man. If I got a reverse card today.
- 21:25You don't, you never know. I'm like, I like.
- 21:28That. Yeah, it's, it's, it's kind of
- 21:30like it's the, it's the thing that keeps me going, right?
- 21:32It's having faith in that. And when people say faith, I
- 21:33think that's what they truly mean.
- 21:34It's like knowing that there's a bigger purpose to you, right?
- 21:37And I think that's a really cool thing to remember.
- 21:39Yeah. And.
- 21:40That for everything that makes life harder, it also adds
- 21:42something to my world when I allow it to.
- 21:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, Like it, it can, yeah.
- 21:48Because like you said, oh, it's evolving, it's changing.
- 21:50It's it's dynamic. Like there's so many things and,
- 21:53and people learn from you from doing it.
- 21:54Maybe that's the point, you know, who knows?
- 21:56But I think not like not beating yourself up about the things
- 22:00that you believe or you perceive them could potentially be
- 22:03detrimental to an average person, right?
- 22:05But who the Hell's average? You know what I mean?
- 22:07Like average is boring anyway. I'd rather be.
- 22:08Extraordinary matter of how much you hide it.
- 22:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody's weird.
- 22:13Are they axe murderers everywhere?
- 22:14You know I'm joking. I'm.
- 22:15Joking how much you believe they aren't weird.
- 22:17Oh that scares me. What are you hiding?
- 22:21Yeah, yeah, I'm totally normal. Get him out like.
- 22:24Yeah, yeah. It's so true that that guy would
- 22:28own an axe. Like that's where it comes.
- 22:30From right, that's the axe murderer.
- 22:31Yeah, exactly. It's the finance bro.
- 22:35Yeah, yeah, Carl from Finance, like quick get security on the
- 22:39phone. Carl's hot.
- 22:41Take it back. All right.
- 22:43OK. Yeah, No, I know it, John from
- 22:46finance. There you go.
- 22:47There we go. That one's like a you know,
- 22:49everyone's a John. Literally John Doe.
- 22:51Peterson from finance, you know, he's got a fishing boat.
- 22:55He goes on the weekends, you know, down the Hudson.
- 22:58Oh, fishing, but. Yeah, exactly.
- 22:59It's where he disposes the bodies of my gumspeak instead.
- 23:02Now I'm joking the Mr. Bowman now Anyway, the I totally got on
- 23:06a tangent of a bullshit Pamela. The question that every the
- 23:09world has an ellipse. Second question, First question
- 23:12everyone's Why are you so short? Now I'm joking.
- 23:14The second I'm joking, I'm joking I.
- 23:16Love the child just asked me that.
- 23:18The one next door she goes, why are you so short?
- 23:20And I said I forgot to grow. No, she actually asked you.
- 23:23Some people asked you that. I was only joking.
- 23:24She has. Mean questions.
- 23:26Yeah, it sounds like somebody needs to put some spicy candy
- 23:29through the door. You know what I'm saying?
- 23:32Die. You need to purchase an axe.
- 23:34And I'm joking. I'm joking, by the way.
- 23:35I'm not condoning murder or anything like that.
- 23:37Anyway, I'm on it, man. You know, the question is, did
- 23:42you find a date on Netflix? So for those who don't know, I
- 23:48was on Netflix's Jewish Matchmaking.
- 23:51I did not audition to be on a Netflix reality dating show.
- 23:55The matchmaker and someone else from the team saw me perform in
- 23:57LA years ago and asked me to do this.
- 24:01And I went out on a date with a gentleman named Stuart.
- 24:04And I did not find love, but I found a a friendship and a good
- 24:09time and I learned a lot about myself.
- 24:11Oh, that sounds like one of those.
- 24:13And I found pride in dating with a disability on Netflix, on a
- 24:16show that wasn't about just dating people with the same
- 24:18disability. Interesting yeah, because
- 24:21there's AI know a few people who are on a show called love on the
- 24:24spectrum and and that's yeah well, I've got a lot to say now
- 24:28we don't look at that, but yeah, but but that's just people on
- 24:30the spectrum, right, which is kind of like to me it's like
- 24:32chicken chicken fights, right. You're just putting chickens in
- 24:35a cage and they're gonna fight you put 2 the same disability
- 24:37you know like why did why is the broader view here?
- 24:40You know, and no offense, I love each and everyone of you guys,
- 24:42but you know, it's. Also like just because I've
- 24:44Tourettes doesn't mean I only take only one.
- 24:47Exactly. Probably shouldn't date someone
- 24:49with Tourette's because we. Banging heads, yeah.
- 24:52Yeah I would. So many jokes about.
- 24:55I dated a guy with cerebral palsy and gosh we like both,
- 24:58broke our noses the first time we tried to kiss fuck's.
- 25:03Sake. I'm sorry, everybody, I'm
- 25:05joking. This is Pam.
- 25:06She's amazing. You have to check out her
- 25:07social. How?
- 25:08How can people find you online? Like where?
- 25:10Where do you? Where can people find your
- 25:12content? Great question.
- 25:13They can find me stalking you because I love everything you
- 25:16do. But they can also find me at
- 25:19Pamela. Comedy is my Instagram and

- 25:35truly I don't remember right now.
- 25:38I don't know. The last video I saw about you
- 25:40on YouTube was you were doing some of the document taste
- 25:42testing, something I think or you would, I don't know.
- 25:44You do look a challenge with Mike and I was like these two
- 25:47goons there. Was definitely yes, we were the
- 25:48Vitamix one. We were he.
- 25:50I had to figure out what he made it and what was store bought.
- 25:53Yeah, that was it. That was it.
- 25:54Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was really interesting.
- 25:56But yeah, Mike, what a hell of a guy.
- 25:58Anyway, so you got any plans to do any more stuff with Netflix
- 26:01or is that just like a one off thing?
- 26:04Stay tuned. I love it.
- 26:07I love it, man. The tea is real, man.
- 26:09I love it. OK, well, look, if you fancy
- 26:12coming to LA for a couple of days, I'm there in June, in
- 26:15June, the end of June for Vidcon.
- 26:16I'm talking at Vidcon. So we're going to come and hang
- 26:18out. Me and Alex going to be there,
- 26:19and I think I'm going to hang out with Angel.
- 26:21And maybe I can't remember his name.
- 26:27Now. Why don't remember his name?
- 26:29Our friend who's blind. James Rath.
- 26:31James Rath. What the fuck?
- 26:33Sorry, James. If you listen to this.
- 26:34If I don't go to this, will you all just still send me videos of
- 26:37you having fun without me so I can pretend like I was there?
- 26:39Sure, naked selfies. Are they cool?
- 26:43Exactly what I wanted. Yeah.
- 26:44There you go. I would like videos, please.
- 26:46It's Vidcon. Thank you.
- 26:47Yeah. It's true.
- 26:48It's true. We can get, yeah, we're gonna
- 26:49have high production value as well, right?
- 26:51Because, like, it's videographer galore.
- 26:53So yeah, we'll get something somewhere, you know, in a hotel
- 26:55room, you know, really seedy, you know, but high production
- 26:57costs. Thank you so much.
- 27:00Have a great pleasure. Of course.
- 27:01Oh my gosh, we're gonna get the tanning days and everything
- 27:04done. You know, he's so good.
- 27:05You know, we like check out James Rath.
- 27:07Like you've never seen him before, you know, nor is he.
- 27:09I'm joking, James, I love you. It's so funny.
- 27:12He he got Apple vision pro and Alex was like, dude, you can't
- 27:16even see like, what are you doing?
- 27:18He's like. He's a brilliant style.
- 27:21James is amazing. Everyone there was so much
- 27:24cooler than I'll ever be, and I think that was my favorite part
- 27:27of it. No, dude, I swear.
- 27:28You know what, I think two things I had two observations
- 27:31from from my MIT trip. The first one was that everybody
- 27:34was hot balloons, balloons, man. The first one, everybody was
- 27:37hot, right? We were all good looking dudes
- 27:39and chicks and like it was a good looking team.
- 27:41And I thought, hey, they selected us on purpose to be
- 27:44nice looking, right? It's true.
- 27:46Come on, like think about it, right.
- 27:48And then and then the second thing was that everyone was cool
- 27:51as fuck. Like nobody was, there was
- 27:53nobody inferior, superior. We were all like, like, like
- 27:56head of a game, you know, I was like.
- 27:57Yeah, those things were a good time.
- 27:59I if that was like a really fun chunk of time in in our life,
- 28:03Yeah. Like, yeah, I love it.
- 28:06And like, I think I'll always, like, I always carry at me
- 28:08because I'm always like, oh, you know, sometimes I think to
- 28:11myself, like, am I doing the right thing?
- 28:12Is my work, you know, working? Am I helping people improve
- 28:15their lives? And I'm thinking back to that
- 28:16time when we were there and then in MIT, they were like, you're
- 28:18all here because you do something impactful to people,
- 28:19right? And I'm like, oh, shit.
- 28:20Because we went through a crazy intense interview process,
- 28:22remember? Yeah.
- 28:23Because it was a free program at MIT, if you got in, it was it
- 28:26was the pilot year. So they paid for travel, hotel,
- 28:29meals, everything. Awesome.
- 28:31Dude the scholarship alone was like 80 grand, do you know that?
- 28:34No. Wow, that's bonkers.
- 28:37Like, that's great, serious. But like, yeah, the Ryderman
- 28:40Foundation are amazing. Like Jay Ryderman, Like I still
- 28:42have him on like, Twitter and Instagram.
- 28:44I'm like, what a guy, What a guy.
- 28:47And his wife was hot as hell. What?
- 28:49I can't remember. What was her name?
- 28:51I can't remember her name now. Missus Ruderman.
- 28:54Missus Ruderman. No, I don't know.
- 28:58I don't remember offhand. And I feel bad now.
- 28:59Oh, I'm going to feel bad when this comes out.
- 29:01But she's lovely. I I've met her more than I've
- 29:03met them. She is amazing, like what a
- 29:05woman and like just this powerhouse, you know, it's like
- 29:08really like beautiful. That woman comes in like, yeah,
- 29:10you know, we're going to do this program MOT.
- 29:11I'm like, oh, Gee, I I felt inferior that I was like, you
- 29:14know, who is this person? But it was great.
- 29:16It was a great time and very blessed to have had that
- 29:19experience and to share that time with you guys, you know,
- 29:21like it was great, man. What a good bunch of people.
- 29:24I think we'll be in each other's lives forever, which is kind of
- 29:26nice to meet forever people. Something like that, yeah.
- 29:29That oh, do not that that is it. That's for me.
- 29:32That's life. OK, so I'm going to fly to New
- 29:33York at one point in the next couple of months.
- 29:35So I'm going to I'll keep you post.
- 29:36I'll I'll text you and just tell you when I'm going to be in that
- 29:40part of the world of North America, and then we can hang
- 29:42out. Pamela Shalom, Mother Trucker.
- 29:47Thank you for having me, this has been really fun.
