- Sean Graver: Hey, this is Sean. Welcome back to Prayer Before Work. Now, today a listener writes I'm the only one who understands the system. If I left tomorrow, three departments would grind to a halt within a week, as soon as something broke. I know it. My manager knows it. And honestly, it's part of why I've stayed as long as I have, not because I love the work. But because I know what would happen if I didn't show up. I believe I'm underpaid. I know I'm exhausted. And I'm starting to wonder if staying out of loyalty to my team is actually loyalty or just a burden I've put on to myself. Well, the apostle Paul writes something in Galatians, Galatians six, verses four and five, that I think cuts right to this. Each one should test their own actions. For each one should carry their own load. So Paul isn't telling you to stop caring about your team, but he is telling you that you were never meant to carry a load that belongs to the whole organization by yourself. The training gaps, the missing documentation, the lack of any kind of a backup plan. That's not your load to carry alone. That's leadership's job to fix. Not yours to absorb indefinitely by staying miserable. But here's the kind of honest test that Paul is pointing you toward. Are you staying because it's genuinely right for you, or because leaving feels like letting people down? And those are two very different reasons. And only one of them is sustainable. You can care about your coworkers and still leave. You can give proper notice, you can document everything you know, you can train someone if you're given the chance, and still walk out the door towards something healthier for you. I mean, being needed isn't the same as being required to stay forever. Sometimes the most responsible thing you can do for a broken system is to stop being the only thing holding it together. Let's pray. God, help us see the difference. Between genuine care for our coworkers, our team, and loyalty that is holding us back from a better future. Give us clarity about what's actually ours to carry and what was never meant to rest on our shoulders alone. And if it's time to make a change, give us the courage to do it well with integrity and with proper notice and and without guilt for choosing what's healthy for us. And we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. Go make today count.
