- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo. We've been to the bus stop a few times, but today let's try something new. Luna: Ooh, I'm curious. Where are we going? Lucas: We're going to hire an auto rickshaw. Very common in India, and super useful to know how to do in Telugu. Luna: Nice. I've always wanted to ride in one. So what's the first thing I'd say? Lucas: First, you need to find an auto. Lucas: Good. That means 'Where can I find an auto?' I love saying that. It's fun. Lucas: It is. So you spot an auto. Now you tell the driver you need one. That sounds like 'I want an auto'. Lucas: Exactly. Let's try it again. Lucas: Perfect. Now you want to agree on the fare. You ask: ఈ ప్రాంతానికి ఎంత? Luna: ఈ ప్రాంతానికి ఎంత? That means 'How much to this area?' Lucas: Right. It's a standard phrase for negotiating fare. Luna: ఈ ప్రాంతానికి ఎంత? I feel like a local already. Lucas: You're getting there. And if the price seems too high, you can say: కాస్త తగ్గించండి. Luna: కాస్త తగ్గించండి. 'Please reduce it a bit.' Lucas: Yes. It's polite and effective. Luna: కాస్త తగ్గించండి. I hope the driver listens. Lucas: Usually they will. And when you reach your destination, you say: ఇక్కడ ఆపండి. Luna: ఇక్కడ ఆపండి. 'Stop here.' Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice all five phrases one more time. Luna: Okay. Lucas: Wow, you nailed that. Lucas: And a driver comes by. Luna: Then I ask: ఈ ప్రాంతానికి ఎంత? Lucas: He says a high price, so you say: కాస్త తగ్గించండి. Luna: And when we get there, I say: ఇక్కడ ఆపండి. Lucas: That's it. You just hired an auto in Telugu. Now, let's do a quick review. The first phrase is... Lucas: And to ask for an auto? Lucas: For the fare question? Luna: ఈ ప్రాంతానికి ఎంత? Lucas: To negotiate? Luna: కాస్త తగ్గించండి. Lucas: And to stop? Luna: ఇక్కడ ఆపండి. Lucas: Perfect. You're ready to ride an auto with confidence. Practice these and we'll see you next time. Luna: See you later, everyone. Keep practicing.
