- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Let's just say, disaster strikes and this negatively impacts Drake
- 0:24Speaker 4: May and you stuck without a quarterback.
- 0:27Speaker 3: So make May is playing but he's not playing.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Well, oh, well, they didn't do anything to support them.
- 0:31Speaker 4: They failed them, you know, they ruined them. And that's
- 0:34Speaker 4: the that's the narrative to say this time in two years.
- 0:37Speaker 4: We're not allowed to say.
- 0:38Speaker 3: That by drafting Joe Milton.
- 0:39Speaker 4: We're not allowed to say. Yeah, we're not allowed to
- 0:41Speaker 4: say it.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Thought, well, I think that would be incorrect.
- 0:44Speaker 4: But you didn't see it. No, but if it's a hypothetic,
- 0:47Speaker 4: were there more reasons mac Jones was a bust other
- 0:49Speaker 4: than they hired Matt Patricia for the offensive coordinator. Yeah,
- 0:52Speaker 4: but you're not allowed to say that.
- 0:53Speaker 3: That's a lot different than drafting Joe.
- 0:56Speaker 5: I don't hear you say.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It's not even apples to apples.
- 0:59Speaker 4: So don't don't ever saying.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Allowed to say whatever you want, and everyone's allowed to.
- 1:03Speaker 4: If I do that, I'm just being a baby. Check
- 1:05Speaker 4: it at the door next time. Okay, I'll be all
- 1:07Speaker 4: on board.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Baby when you start saying, well, I can't say what
- 1:10Speaker 3: I when you act like a baby, baby, It's.
- 1:13Speaker 6: Gonna be fun to just get out there. See what
- 1:14Speaker 6: they look like, see what they move like. And I'm
- 1:16Speaker 6: just excited to see what Joe Milton most like.
- 1:21Speaker 4: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:25Speaker 7: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:29Speaker 3: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:33Speaker 3: at you Let's Stadium. It's Deuce, it's Alex, it's Paul,
- 1:38Speaker 3: it's Fred Evan.
- 1:39Speaker 6: U doing interviews with on WHENU and uh Bentley okayah.
- 1:46Speaker 8: Help me buying a little bit. He's gonna listen to
- 1:47Speaker 8: those guys.
- 1:48Speaker 6: And ask Michael and whine about his bike riding through
- 1:51Speaker 6: the locker room.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah that was wild.
- 1:53Speaker 8: I'm just like and who filmed that?
- 1:56Speaker 6: Kendrick Bourne, I think, Yeah, it seems like Kendrick Born.
- 1:59Speaker 3: So that's new.
- 2:00Speaker 8: Yeah, those basketball the shot.
- 2:02Speaker 3: You wouldn't have been able to do that a year ago.
- 2:04Speaker 6: Riding your bike, go ride your bike outside.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Or having your phone out. You got to get Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 3: forget about the bike just filming social media content?
- 2:13Speaker 5: Are those rules just for in season?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Maybe I thought when you come here, you come here
- 2:18Speaker 3: to work.
- 2:19Speaker 8: That's what I've thought. Yeah, tonight, good job.
- 2:23Speaker 9: I don't know if the basketball hoop is brand new
- 2:25Speaker 9: or if it was just replaced. I think they've had
- 2:27Speaker 9: basketball hoops in the past, but they get broken.
- 2:29Speaker 8: They definitely connect four okay, right, don't know.
- 2:35Speaker 4: I mean, you guys have been in the locker room
- 2:37Speaker 4: way more than I have lately. I don't know that
- 2:39Speaker 4: they've had basketball hoops in the locker.
- 2:42Speaker 8: I've never seen.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I haven't seen that. Well.
- 2:43Speaker 9: We talked about it for static camp, and I think Richie,
- 2:46Speaker 9: one of the guys that works in football, was telling
- 2:48Speaker 9: us that when they do have them, they.
- 2:50Speaker 10: Just they break them because they take the games to series.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Set up a hoop, me too, I want to set
- 2:56Speaker 3: up a hoop right here in the TV compound. Okay,
- 2:59Speaker 3: So like when there's no trucks, we could just go
- 3:01Speaker 3: down and shoot around.
- 3:02Speaker 8: That'd be fun, would be good.
- 3:03Speaker 3: The ceiling is certainly high enough.
- 3:05Speaker 8: Yeah, work on my my shot. Evan.
- 3:07Speaker 6: We can put Evan in his place because I think
- 3:10Speaker 6: you know, he's flexing telling us all about what a
- 3:12Speaker 6: dynamic c yo basketball player.
- 3:15Speaker 8: Actually he's not. He didn't play whatever his youth basketball
- 3:22Speaker 8: league was J C.
- 3:23Speaker 6: C Okay, Well, I told.
- 3:25Speaker 10: Him he can pick anyone against me. And Genesia.
- 3:27Speaker 8: Oh well, Genisia, that girl, she she can play.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Guys are both legit basketball players.
- 3:33Speaker 10: I've never seen her play, but I think she would be.
- 3:37Speaker 8: I think so too. I talked to it.
- 3:38Speaker 10: Well, know, she coaches, coaches, she coaches boys.
- 3:42Speaker 3: She said, she's that's her. That's yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 5: She played basket.
- 3:46Speaker 10: Yeah, we've talked a little bit. She played AAU.
- 3:48Speaker 6: I love talking to her about she first year coaching.
- 3:51Speaker 3: She so.
- 3:51Speaker 8: I love hearing her go through the coaching experience.
- 3:54Speaker 10: And you know, it's very wholesome.
- 3:55Speaker 5: There's always a pain in the information.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I don't get doun in my dungeon. I was aware
- 4:00Speaker 4: of that. Lot told to go back.
- 4:03Speaker 11: Down, get you.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I had a call.
- 4:08Speaker 8: I have a call anyway.
- 4:10Speaker 3: People listening don't know who these people are.
- 4:12Speaker 5: But dey knew who Devin mccordy is.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Anyway, So you got a new kicker.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Yeah, Sly Joey slye veteran, little veteran.
- 4:23Speaker 8: Yeah, any good guy. He was Washington's can't be that.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Last, yeah they Yeah, the Jacks just I guess the
- 4:31Speaker 6: Jags must have drafted somebody and don't care for competition.
- 4:33Speaker 6: But wow, but I mean joking aside, like and I
- 4:40Speaker 6: don't want to get back into the Joe Milton at all,
- 4:42Speaker 6: but I mean it does.
- 4:43Speaker 8: Seem like this regime is you have.
- 4:46Speaker 4: No threat of that that.
- 4:49Speaker 6: I do think that this regime has carried some of
- 4:51Speaker 6: that over from Bill, which is competition, competition, competition, and
- 4:55Speaker 6: bring making sure that that nobody feels too comfortable. Maybe,
- 4:59Speaker 6: and I think that that's certainly the case at a
- 5:01Speaker 6: number of positions on the offensive side of the ball,
- 5:03Speaker 6: is they try to, you know, find a new offensive
- 5:05Speaker 6: line from from all these.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I mean, believe it or not, most coaches or that
- 5:08Speaker 3: like that.
- 5:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I mean Pete Carroll, believe it or not, was like that.
- 5:12Speaker 3: He always, you know, fancied himself at having a very
- 5:16Speaker 3: competitive practice in training camp, and you know most coaches
- 5:21Speaker 3: want competition.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I don't know, it's just sometimes you think, guys, I've.
- 5:27Speaker 8: Actually heard that.
- 5:27Speaker 6: Yeah, but you know sometimes you just like think about
- 5:31Speaker 6: like some player like well he should just have the job.
- 5:34Speaker 6: He doesn't need like this guy breathing down his neck right.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Year, there wouldn't be another kick.
- 5:40Speaker 8: And that's specific to Ryland.
- 5:41Speaker 4: I agree.
- 5:43Speaker 6: I agree with you in the respect to Ryland. That
- 5:45Speaker 6: wasn't the point. I was trying to go ahead, go
- 5:47Speaker 6: to your little pole.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yes, this is.
- 5:51Speaker 6: But sometimes other position groups, you know, it's just kind
- 5:53Speaker 6: of like, really, do you really you need another body there?
- 5:55Speaker 8: But you know how it works.
- 5:56Speaker 6: Sometimes these guys people get hurt and uh, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 6: you can always use those guys that have been in
- 6:01Speaker 6: the building since the spring.
- 6:04Speaker 3: So that happened, and then today just probably right now,
- 6:09Speaker 3: the remaining Tom Brady Day tickets are up for sale
- 6:13Speaker 3: on ticket Master June twelfth.
- 6:15Speaker 8: Go get them. Go get them people.
- 6:17Speaker 10: Yeah, what they're going for it's a hundred bucks.
- 6:21Speaker 6: Yeah, go get them. I was just as a Patriots fan, Well,
- 6:26Speaker 6: there's not many left I go right now because they've
- 6:29Speaker 6: been up there for about six minutes. But I just say,
- 6:31Speaker 6: as a Patriots fan, this is it's worth it. It's worth
- 6:34Speaker 6: it to be there if you're a Tom Brady fan
- 6:36Speaker 6: and you want to see him honored the way he
- 6:38Speaker 6: should be honored, with all kinds of surprises and all
- 6:42Speaker 6: kinds of fun and not you know, and some people
- 6:45Speaker 6: are like, oh, it's probably the same old cast of
- 6:47Speaker 6: characters that you're gonna wrote. No, it's different, and there's
- 6:50Speaker 6: just a lot of really cool stuff. And I think
- 6:52Speaker 6: if you're a Tom Brady fan and you miss this,
- 6:54Speaker 6: you're gonna be kicking yourself in the butt because it's
- 6:56Speaker 6: it's gonna be awesome.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be something that goes down in Patriots history. Yes,
- 7:02Speaker 3: the same way Larry Bird and I did for the Celtics. Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 3: it was well done, and I remember that like it
- 7:09Speaker 3: was yesterday.
- 7:09Speaker 8: I thought it was kind of you know, he's getting
- 7:10Speaker 8: roasted this weekend too.
- 7:12Speaker 6: Yeah, that'll be interesting, Yeah, which which was you know.
- 7:15Speaker 6: But I feel like it's a good complimentary thing because
- 7:18Speaker 6: you're gonna have everybody come out kind of tease them
- 7:19Speaker 6: a little bit this weekend his wounds Brady, and then
- 7:23Speaker 6: it's you're gonna have some of the same people coming
- 7:25Speaker 6: back and you know, kind of glowing about him and
- 7:27Speaker 6: you know nice. So I think it's gonna be hopefully
- 7:29Speaker 6: complimentary and you know, not intrusive to either thing. So
- 7:33Speaker 6: complimentary With an E and an I I think you
- 7:36Speaker 6: corrected me on that a couple of times, spread on
- 7:38Speaker 6: things I've written, but I think I've.
- 7:39Speaker 8: Got it down now so that the difference between the
- 7:41Speaker 8: e and the eye.
- 7:42Speaker 6: But you know, there's a lot of complimentary weapons, complimentary pieces.
- 7:44Speaker 8: To the offense cross I did.
- 7:46Speaker 6: I did, but I didn't know the actual name of
- 7:48Speaker 6: the library till about you.
- 7:49Speaker 3: They compliment each other and when they do well, we
- 7:51Speaker 3: will compliment them with an eye.
- 7:53Speaker 11: There you go.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Right, It's like.
- 7:56Speaker 8: The the brown horse jumped over what's that saying?
- 7:58Speaker 12: That?
- 7:58Speaker 6: Like?
- 7:59Speaker 8: It gets every letter in you know I'm talking.
- 8:00Speaker 10: About now jump over the fence or something?
- 8:03Speaker 8: Yeah? Yeah, okay, sorry, all right?
- 8:07Speaker 3: What else? So we got Brady tickets, we got a
- 8:09Speaker 3: new kicker.
- 8:10Speaker 8: A new kicker.
- 8:11Speaker 6: We're I mean, we're supposedly going to see the rookies
- 8:13Speaker 6: next weekend, right.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Did we mention that they released Connor McDermott last.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Show after the show?
- 8:19Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, it's got rid of him.
- 8:22Speaker 6: So that gets him down to eight eight tackles. I
- 8:26Speaker 6: maybe do air quotes on the tackles because some of
- 8:28Speaker 6: them have you know, Michael, when you I guess as a.
- 8:30Speaker 8: Tackle, but I don't know.
- 8:31Speaker 6: I continue to want wish them when you would go
- 8:33Speaker 6: back inside.
- 8:34Speaker 8: I just think that that's the best place. And well,
- 8:36Speaker 8: I love if they could find two tackles.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Well that's the thing. If he goes back inside, it
- 8:40Speaker 3: means that they have somebody outside, so that now you've
- 8:44Speaker 3: increased the depth you've you know, So that's that's why
- 8:48Speaker 3: I would want it to go inside, is because wow,
- 8:50Speaker 3: they've got a you know, a real tackle out there.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Not that no, no, no disrespect to Mike and when
- 8:55Speaker 3: you he could be just as good, but you want
- 8:58Speaker 3: as deep in solid line as you can possibly get.
- 9:01Speaker 3: And you know, I think when you spent most of
- 9:04Speaker 3: his time at guard, that's his more natural position, you know.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, and I think that the upside of
- 9:11Speaker 4: that would be to have and I know that it's
- 9:15Speaker 4: not ideal because you have two guys that have played
- 9:17Speaker 4: almost predominantly right tackle with Chukes or Corps four in
- 9:21Speaker 4: Cayden Wallace, they've been right tackles. But you could have
- 9:24Speaker 4: Wallace as a rookie, which is very common even with
- 9:27Speaker 4: left tackles in college, to play right tackle when they
- 9:30Speaker 4: first come into the league. Even I think Jonathan Ogden
- 9:32Speaker 4: did that, but if it wasn't him, even guys of
- 9:36Speaker 4: that stature sometimes play as a rookie on the right
- 9:39Speaker 4: side before getting entrenched on the left. And if a
- 9:42Speaker 4: Corps four could play left, now you have a when
- 9:46Speaker 4: you freed up to solidify the inside with David Andrews
- 9:50Speaker 4: and not, all you have to worry about is one spot.
- 9:52Speaker 4: So that I think would be ideal, but I'm not
- 9:56Speaker 4: sure if it's plausible.
- 9:57Speaker 6: No, I mean this is this is probably believe along
- 10:01Speaker 6: the lines of still believing in Christmas. It's like Calvin Anderson,
- 10:04Speaker 6: and I mean he has started a bunch of games
- 10:05Speaker 6: at left tackle in the league. I mean, I don't
- 10:07Speaker 6: I don't really want to hang all my hopes on him,
- 10:10Speaker 6: but I do think when you look at the actual
- 10:12Speaker 6: depth chart, he's the only player who's played significant amount
- 10:15Speaker 6: of time in the NFL at left tackle.
- 10:16Speaker 5: The only one that has any experience.
- 10:18Speaker 6: So maybe he's a little bit of a wild card.
- 10:20Speaker 6: But I did speak to you know, Paul's writing that
- 10:22Speaker 6: the profile on Wallace. But I did speak with Eric
- 10:25Speaker 6: Aalco from the Shrine Bowl yesterday, who Wallace was at,
- 10:27Speaker 6: and you know, he said the feeling around the league
- 10:29Speaker 6: was that he would be the top swing tackle drafted,
- 10:34Speaker 6: like he's he that that's what they kind of saw
- 10:35Speaker 6: him as.
- 10:36Speaker 8: As you know, he could play both sides.
- 10:38Speaker 6: We've talked, you know about how Olufashanu kind of had
- 10:42Speaker 6: locked things down on the left side, so we never
- 10:43Speaker 6: really had the chance to play left tackle. But there
- 10:46Speaker 6: is I think some feeling in the league that that
- 10:49Speaker 6: it's a potential move he could make.
- 10:51Speaker 8: So we'll see. I mean, there's no guarantee.
- 10:53Speaker 3: The other news that came out at the end of
- 10:56Speaker 3: the beginning of the week was of course Barmar's deal,
- 10:59Speaker 3: and since then, his agent released a little video of
- 11:03Speaker 3: him here at Gillette signing and all that. And what
- 11:07Speaker 3: do you think of that that video?
- 11:10Speaker 8: That's a good question. I don't really, I.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Mean, anyone can answer, and I'm not interviewing Deuce.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I didn't see it.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Oh you didn't see it there?
- 11:16Speaker 10: No, yeah, I'm posting. I didn't see the actual video though.
- 11:19Speaker 8: No, it was yeah, it was.
- 11:20Speaker 6: It was him walking in and you know it was
- 11:23Speaker 6: kind of like, here's the look of a ninety million.
- 11:25Speaker 8: Dollar man, or this is what mill That's what she
- 11:28Speaker 8: said his agent.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 11:32Speaker 8: That's a good question, fred I.
- 11:33Speaker 6: I I'm a little torn on Okay.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Think about it this way. Forget about if your deuce.
- 11:38Speaker 3: If you're Christian Barmore, are you like, oh, you're feeling
- 11:41Speaker 3: okay with that with my agent posting that, I think so?
- 11:45Speaker 8: Yeah, I think so.
- 11:46Speaker 6: I mean, I I just think it was a big
- 11:48Speaker 6: moment for them, for them both, and I don't know,
- 11:51Speaker 6: I didn't I didn't recoil from it. And wow, this
- 11:52Speaker 6: is awkward and this feels weird. But I guess my
- 11:55Speaker 6: hesitation at the same time is just like you're kind
- 11:58Speaker 6: of like strutting your stuff now, and it is a
- 12:00Speaker 6: little bit a little bit weird to put that out,
- 12:02Speaker 6: but at the same time, I guess it's just so different.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Yeah, he's worked so hard and you know, obviously it's
- 12:10Speaker 6: a huge deal for his agent to put that together,
- 12:12Speaker 6: so you know, congrats to her. But yeah, I don't know,
- 12:16Speaker 6: it's it's I'm happy for Barmore, and it's it's it
- 12:18Speaker 6: goes back to what we talked about it just as
- 12:20Speaker 6: a fan being able to know which players you can
- 12:23Speaker 6: get behind, and I think that's one of the things
- 12:24Speaker 6: that fans haven't had the last couple of years. You
- 12:26Speaker 6: don't really like right now, I feel pretty good about Like,
- 12:30Speaker 6: I think we're going to keep Christian Gonzalez for a
- 12:32Speaker 6: long time, like you know, like and previously I might
- 12:35Speaker 6: have been like, well he's he's here for four years,
- 12:37Speaker 6: maybe five, and and then you know, most likely he's
- 12:39Speaker 6: probably gone. So I just from a fan headspace, it's
- 12:42Speaker 6: it's nice to feel like you're going to be the
- 12:46Speaker 6: people that you the players that you invest in and
- 12:48Speaker 6: start to get attached to that that you can form
- 12:50Speaker 6: those long term bonds because you haven't had that in
- 12:51Speaker 6: a while.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Speaking of Gonzales, who was court side at the Celtics game, Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 10: It's got a lot of FaceTime behind spo all night too.
- 12:59Speaker 8: Yeah, it looks good.
- 13:01Speaker 6: I mean, I'm I'm just excited to see him back.
- 13:03Speaker 6: I mean, it was always just so fun to watch
- 13:05Speaker 6: him him move out on the field.
- 13:06Speaker 8: But like I was saying.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Earlier though, I mean, we're supposed to get a look
- 13:09Speaker 6: at these rookies next Saturday.
- 13:10Speaker 3: That's yeah. So now so the next thing here is
- 13:13Speaker 3: rookie mini camp. What's the dates on that?
- 13:15Speaker 6: Yeah, the act, Well, our our access day is supposed
- 13:18Speaker 6: to be Saturday.
- 13:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I think they are. They're they're out there the
- 13:22Speaker 8: first day.
- 13:23Speaker 6: But yeah, I'm just curious what that what that looks like,
- 13:26Speaker 6: what they're gonna do. I hope that they kind of
- 13:28Speaker 6: protect the players a little bit and and don't have
- 13:29Speaker 6: them doing anything too uh you know, competitive or anything
- 13:33Speaker 6: that people could read into. But just cool to get
- 13:36Speaker 6: to see these guys play.
- 13:38Speaker 8: Sounds like Jalen Polk's gonna take number one too.
- 13:40Speaker 6: So things are a lot a lot different now with
- 13:42Speaker 6: how how the access are getting with.
- 13:44Speaker 3: These rookies, So that'll we'll be having content throughout. I
- 13:48Speaker 3: think media has one day of access, but I will
- 13:51Speaker 3: have some extra access.
- 13:52Speaker 6: Yeah, some pictures, yeah, and stuff like that as a
- 13:55Speaker 6: as they drink from the fire hose, right yeah, nice, Yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 6: the rookies and Shopper's Iron, we're.
- 14:01Speaker 8: Getting them all in today.
- 14:03Speaker 3: What else before we open it up to listeners? Anything?
- 14:07Speaker 8: What else?
- 14:08Speaker 6: No, I mean, I I think we're just uh, I
- 14:11Speaker 6: mean you see there there. I think the roster is
- 14:12Speaker 6: full now with the linebacker that they signed, So for
- 14:15Speaker 6: the moment, it seems like everything's kind of in place.
- 14:17Speaker 8: I know, we talked about Stefan.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Gilmore maybe another veteran edition, which I would be on
- 14:21Speaker 6: board with another outside guy, right, Yeah, the little experience,
- 14:25Speaker 6: good size.
- 14:26Speaker 5: The first it's like Zamdes. But what is the first name?
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yeah, Archimedes.
- 14:32Speaker 6: Shoot, I didn't, Uh, I didn't reprint my own I didn't.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Your color coded death shot lasted one show? Did me
- 14:41Speaker 4: and Fred areguing so much? Upset you what you couldn't.
- 14:44Speaker 6: I didn't even print a new one. I was just
- 14:46Speaker 6: so enamored with the color on it.
- 14:47Speaker 3: He was rattled.
- 14:49Speaker 4: We rattled him, Freddy. Yeah, he's done.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Sorry, Okay, I'm just looking to see if there's any
- 14:54Speaker 3: updates on the Brady. Maybe it's already sold out. Oh man,
- 14:59Speaker 3: I haven't heard anything yet. That'd be crazy. Yeah, So
- 15:03Speaker 3: if people are trying or have bought since noon, let
- 15:07Speaker 3: us know, or if you just got on there and
- 15:10Speaker 3: got denied, let us know. Yeah, we'd love to get
- 15:12Speaker 3: an update on what that's like. But I do know
- 15:15Speaker 3: they're they're getting close.
- 15:17Speaker 8: Selling it out.
- 15:18Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean because they got to cut some of
- 15:20Speaker 6: the stadium. I mean yeah, it's Yeah.
- 15:21Speaker 3: I think I think capacity for this event, because you know,
- 15:25Speaker 3: you get the stage and blocking the south end zone,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I think it's like fifty six thousand or something like that.
- 15:31Speaker 10: Little less than like a concert.
- 15:33Speaker 8: Yeah, more Brady.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, So that'll be great. It's gonna I can't
- 15:41Speaker 3: wait for that.
- 15:41Speaker 8: It will.
- 15:42Speaker 6: It's like I kind of feel like you got all
- 15:43Speaker 6: the draft guys and now you're like, all right, and
- 15:45Speaker 6: now I want to see them. You know, you waited
- 15:46Speaker 6: all these like two months to just finally get to
- 15:48Speaker 6: this point where you know who the Patriots drafted, and
- 15:50Speaker 6: now you're quickly turning the page too.
- 15:52Speaker 8: All right, let's get on the field.
- 15:53Speaker 4: So I'm gonna be a little selfish here. And at
- 15:57Speaker 4: the end of the show on Tuesday, Mike had mentioned
- 16:00Speaker 4: that he and I were going to be doing something
- 16:02Speaker 4: with Josh mc We kind of teased it. It was
- 16:04Speaker 4: Josh McDaniels.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I didn't know if you guys wanted to bring that out.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Well, and now that we did it, I think that
- 16:11Speaker 4: we should, absolutely And it was an absolute home run
- 16:16Speaker 4: how well it went. And basically what Mike and I
- 16:19Speaker 4: did was we got together and came up with what
- 16:23Speaker 4: we thought were the twelve best game winning drives for
- 16:29Speaker 4: Tom Brady, you know, as part of the Brady festivities
- 16:32Speaker 4: and content that we'll be putting out leaning into the night.
- 16:36Speaker 4: You know, it's not going to be probably something that
- 16:37Speaker 4: we'll see during the ceremony on the twelfth, but heading
- 16:40Speaker 4: into that week, and Josh sat down with Mike and
- 16:45Speaker 4: I yesterday and it was incredible, like just the amount
- 16:48Speaker 4: of memories and detail that come back with it, And
- 16:54Speaker 4: it was Josh like he would be doing if it
- 16:56Speaker 4: was breaking down the film that week, if the game
- 16:59Speaker 4: had happened in that week, And he's showing Mike and
- 17:01Speaker 4: I all these different things that probably get overlooked by
- 17:04Speaker 4: a lot of people, you know, including us at the time,
- 17:08Speaker 4: and I think it's something to keep an eye on.
- 17:10Speaker 4: We'll be promoting it. We'll let you know. We're not
- 17:13Speaker 4: exactly sure how we're going to unveil it and present it,
- 17:18Speaker 4: but it's something that you guys, especially people on this show,
- 17:22Speaker 4: because I know the people on this show are the
- 17:24Speaker 4: the inside football guys. They're the diehards that want any
- 17:27Speaker 4: and everything, and this is something you won't want to miss.
- 17:30Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 6: I mean I've done a lot of cool things since
- 17:33Speaker 6: I started working here.
- 17:34Speaker 8: This was the cool.
- 17:35Speaker 4: It was incredible. I loved that we we sat with
- 17:38Speaker 4: him for about an hour and a half. Yeah, And
- 17:41Speaker 4: I said to Mike, as soon as we've done, I
- 17:43Speaker 4: could have done another hour and a half easily.
- 17:45Speaker 5: It was so enjoyable.
- 17:46Speaker 4: I said to my dad so much.
- 17:48Speaker 6: It was it's learning to appreciate Brady.
- 17:50Speaker 8: What made Brady great?
- 17:51Speaker 6: And everybody knows he won super Bowls, he had comeback drives,
- 17:54Speaker 6: you know, he had touchdown throws. But Josh shows you
- 17:58Speaker 6: what made him special, from snap to snap, down to down,
- 18:03Speaker 6: every moment, little subtle things. I mean, it's just it's
- 18:06Speaker 6: it's I see Tom Brady in a whole different light.
- 18:09Speaker 6: And like you said, Paul, like I could have sat
- 18:11Speaker 6: there for two more hours just watching him go through
- 18:14Speaker 6: the All twenty two show us. You know, look at
- 18:16Speaker 6: him here, he sees exactly what it is, he knows
- 18:18Speaker 6: where he's going with it. It's just I'm so excited
- 18:22Speaker 6: for the fans to see it, especially people who really
- 18:25Speaker 6: get off on quarterback stuff and then quarterback play and
- 18:28Speaker 6: what made Tom Brady elite.
- 18:29Speaker 4: It's it's and Mike and I played the hits we got,
- 18:31Speaker 4: you know, like you know, super Bowl thirty six against
- 18:34Speaker 4: the Rams, and you know, the overtime game winning drive
- 18:37Speaker 4: against the Falcons and the Chiefs, and but there's some
- 18:40Speaker 4: other stuff in there that you probably don't necessarily necessarily remember,
- 18:45Speaker 4: with the same amount of detail that So we kind
- 18:47Speaker 4: of gave you a good little cross section. Yeah, regular season, postseason,
- 18:52Speaker 4: you know, different stages of his career earlier, later, and
- 18:56Speaker 4: just sort of the maturation process that you could actually
- 18:59Speaker 4: see as you go through them.
- 19:01Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 6: The cool part to me was just that Josh started
- 19:04Speaker 6: off as a coaching assistant and you know, we know
- 19:06Speaker 6: we left for a little bit, but when he I
- 19:08Speaker 6: mean he was basically there for the whole thing.
- 19:10Speaker 8: You know, he saw all the development.
- 19:12Speaker 6: I mean, he made a joke we were talking about
- 19:14Speaker 6: a game in six that we're reviewing and it's like,
- 19:16Speaker 6: you know, all of a sudden, you're the offensive coordinator.
- 19:18Speaker 8: How was that?
- 19:19Speaker 6: Trends in out I was very lucky to have Tom,
- 19:21Speaker 6: you know.
- 19:21Speaker 8: He's that.
- 19:22Speaker 6: But they became such a you know, a dynamic duo,
- 19:25Speaker 6: so to speak, and and you know, Brady and McDaniels.
- 19:27Speaker 6: I mean, this will live forever, and I think it'll be,
- 19:30Speaker 6: you know, something that people really want to look at
- 19:32Speaker 6: how great Tom Brady was. I think this shows it
- 19:34Speaker 6: in a way that nothing else has ever shown.
- 19:35Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I can't wait to see it.
- 19:37Speaker 8: Yeah, I can't wait to see how they edit it.
- 19:39Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think we're gonna do and we're going
- 19:41Speaker 4: to need to sit down and figure out exactly what
- 19:44Speaker 4: our goal was to try to present.
- 19:47Speaker 8: It a lot.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I was telling No Socks that it should be edited
- 19:52Speaker 3: in a way to make it look like the old
- 19:54Speaker 3: NFL films would safety stable, would sit down and maybe
- 19:58Speaker 3: kind of have that time kind of look to it.
- 20:01Speaker 8: Yeah, that was I mean, those were my I mean
- 20:02Speaker 8: that's for me like that.
- 20:04Speaker 6: I love those films, like and everyone remembers those where
- 20:07Speaker 6: you know, Steve Sable sitting, you know, in a button
- 20:09Speaker 6: down and a sweater and he's sitting in the studio,
- 20:12Speaker 6: you know, within his chair and it's almost like masterpiece
- 20:15Speaker 6: theater kind of how he would, you know, introduce it.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Well, I was definitely thinking the masterpiece theater thing, because
- 20:20Speaker 4: I know they had to be a camera behind us,
- 20:21Speaker 4: you know, and you know, contrary to popular opinion, they
- 20:24Speaker 4: did not show the plays on the back of my head.
- 20:28Speaker 3: But I heard You've got a lot of compliments from
- 20:30Speaker 3: Josh and your memory. Yeah, like you were throwing stuff
- 20:34Speaker 3: out there and he's like, yeah, that's right.
- 20:36Speaker 8: Yeah, the steel Trap. Yeah, Paul's like calling out corners names.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the useless stuff that I can't know.
- 20:43Speaker 5: Somehow, in this case, it was useful.
- 20:45Speaker 6: As soon as we got about twenty fifteen, Paul zoned out.
- 20:47Speaker 6: He didn't remember any I.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Was laughing with Deuce because I was sort of talking
- 20:51Speaker 4: about different personnel on the other side of the you know,
- 20:54Speaker 4: the other team. And I have a recollection for the
- 20:58Speaker 4: individual players that were involved in any of those plays
- 21:01Speaker 4: from six, much more so than I do now. Like
- 21:05Speaker 4: if you ask me, you know, like the Denver game
- 21:09Speaker 4: last year when they went down the fields and you know,
- 21:12Speaker 4: set up the Ryland game winning field goal at the end,
- 21:15Speaker 4: I couldn't tell you who the cornerback was they gave
- 21:17Speaker 4: up the big play or anything, you know for Denver.
- 21:20Speaker 4: But you asked me, like, why do you think seven was?
- 21:22Speaker 8: Like?
- 21:25Speaker 3: Is that because we were doing the paper?
- 21:26Speaker 6: Because I'm a loser now, No, seriously, get older to
- 21:30Speaker 6: retain new.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Information the brain, Really, I have to push some other
- 21:34Speaker 5: stuff out.
- 21:35Speaker 4: You gotta get rid of some of those. You probably
- 21:37Speaker 4: have a theory on that. What do I have to do?
- 21:39Speaker 5: Get rid of your olive oil?
- 21:42Speaker 10: Olive oil?
- 21:43Speaker 9: Definitely, if you want me to go into a rabbit
- 21:45Speaker 9: hole olive oil. Every day consumption is we don't really
- 21:49Speaker 9: linked to good memory function.
- 21:51Speaker 3: What about oil?
- 21:53Speaker 10: That's two. That's definitely.
- 21:54Speaker 3: I have a goods take every day. Yeah, it doesn't work.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'm only kidding. I do take it every Some fish.
- 22:00Speaker 10: Oil is sketchy. You got to get a reliable fish oil.
- 22:03Speaker 9: Yeah, but you need a lot of people are deficient
- 22:05Speaker 9: in omega threes and then their balance of omega sixes
- 22:08Speaker 9: is too much, and it can.
- 22:11Speaker 10: Correct me if I'm wrong. If anyone actually knows more.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Than this, somebody nutrition.
- 22:17Speaker 10: If we got a balance, it is really bad, really bad.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Okay, that's always the rule of thumb. I always assume
- 22:22Speaker 5: they all know more. They will, let you know, brain superfood.
- 22:29Speaker 3: All right, well, let's get to the listeners eight five
- 22:32Speaker 3: to five past five hundred programming Note. Around one o'clock
- 22:35Speaker 3: or so, Mike Reese of ESPN, one of the leading
- 22:40Speaker 3: Patriots beat writers, will be joining us to get his
- 22:42Speaker 3: take on the draft and in the current state of
- 22:45Speaker 3: the team. So we'll be talking to Mike around one o'clock,
- 22:49Speaker 3: just before or after we get to eat. All right,
- 22:51Speaker 3: let's get to the Ace ticket hout line. We'll start
- 22:53Speaker 3: with Tim and Westford. What's up, Tim?
- 22:58Speaker 13: Hey, I just want to talk. But Drake May for
- 23:02Speaker 13: a minute, really excited by the pick. Okay, I think,
- 23:10Speaker 13: you know, looking at him after all the draft type
- 23:13Speaker 13: has gone down, a lot of people have compared him
- 23:16Speaker 13: to Josh Allen. I don't quite see that. I don't
- 23:20Speaker 13: think he I think, you know, I think Josh Allen
- 23:23Speaker 13: is kind of one of a kind, super elusive kind
- 23:28Speaker 13: of quarterback and a rocket arm. I think Drake May
- 23:33Speaker 13: is a plus arm. I think he's you know, kind
- 23:38Speaker 13: of prototypical. But I see it more as like a
- 23:41Speaker 13: Jordan Love as an NFL pro comparison. It's still a
- 23:45Speaker 13: great player, right, I guess my My other feeling is,
- 23:51Speaker 13: you know, if this offensive line situation is really not
- 23:55Speaker 13: good this year, I think in the best interest that
- 23:59Speaker 13: Drake made it not play.
- 24:02Speaker 3: But how will we know that just because yeah, I mean,
- 24:06Speaker 3: we find that out before you know, when it's too late.
- 24:09Speaker 3: You know, how do you know if the line is
- 24:11Speaker 3: going to be good before they start playing games? And
- 24:14Speaker 3: if you want me in there right away, he's going
- 24:16Speaker 3: to be in those games.
- 24:18Speaker 13: Well, I don't think they should play him right away.
- 24:20Speaker 4: So regardless if he's good enough to play.
- 24:25Speaker 13: Well, he might be physically good enough, but I don't
- 24:29Speaker 13: think he's going to be a full field reader by
- 24:33Speaker 13: the time the NFL season opens. I mean, that was
- 24:37Speaker 13: one of the big knocks on him coming out is
- 24:40Speaker 13: that he was kind of a first read guy. So
- 24:44Speaker 13: I think he's gonna need some time not only just
- 24:48Speaker 13: getting used to the playbook this offseason, but also working
- 24:52Speaker 13: on his footwork and becoming a full field reader. So
- 24:55Speaker 13: I think Jacobe Brissette is starting no matter what. And
- 25:00Speaker 13: I think if we see bad offensive line play, then
- 25:05Speaker 13: you know he can't go in until the offensive line improves.
- 25:10Speaker 13: And if it doesn't improve, then you know, I see
- 25:14Speaker 13: a whole year with him not playing.
- 25:16Speaker 4: All right, Thanks, Tim, I mean count me among those
- 25:18Speaker 4: that absolutely hate that mentality.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Well, listen, the whole thing where I veer off of
- 25:24Speaker 3: what Tim was saying is he's gonna Jacoby Brissett's gonna
- 25:27Speaker 3: start no matter what.
- 25:29Speaker 8: Why.
- 25:30Speaker 4: I mean, so it has nothing to do with the
- 25:31Speaker 4: offensive line. I mean, this is Tim's view, and this
- 25:34Speaker 4: is a lot of people's view, but it has nothing
- 25:36Speaker 4: to do with the offensive line. You don't think that
- 25:38Speaker 4: Drake me is going to be ready to start, he
- 25:40Speaker 4: may not be, and if he's not, I would suggest
- 25:42Speaker 4: Tim's right, don't play him. But he says, but if
- 25:44Speaker 4: he's ready to play, I don't care what the offensive
- 25:46Speaker 4: line he can't. I want my third overall pick to
- 25:48Speaker 4: elevate people around him.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Yeah, And when you say no matter what, then you're
- 25:52Speaker 3: saying even if he's head and shoulders better than perset,
- 25:55Speaker 3: and I don't that I don't agree with. I mean, listen,
- 26:00Speaker 3: you can come up with examples of it working every
- 26:03Speaker 3: different way, and you can also come up with examples
- 26:06Speaker 3: of it not working every.
- 26:08Speaker 4: If he's not ready, I don't want him to play.
- 26:10Speaker 4: That's where I agree with Tim. If he's not a
- 26:12Speaker 4: you know, if his footwork is still a mess, and
- 26:15Speaker 4: he hasn't, you know, learn how to read the field
- 26:18Speaker 4: and see the field properly, I'm with Tim. I don't
- 26:20Speaker 4: want to play him, but I'm assuming that we're having
- 26:22Speaker 4: a good training camp right where he shows that he
- 26:25Speaker 4: can do those things. And the comparison to Josh Allen
- 26:29Speaker 4: is not about like level of play, it's style of play.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Like he might never be anywhere near what Josh Allen
- 26:38Speaker 4: was four years ago, let alone now. He might never
- 26:41Speaker 4: get to that level. But stylistically he plays in a
- 26:43Speaker 4: similar style. He's a bigger quarterback who doesn't necessarily elude you.
- 26:48Speaker 4: He runs through you, and he has a big arm.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Doesn't have Josh Allen's arm, No one does.
- 26:54Speaker 6: Yeah, he's not quite the freight train that Josh Allen is.
- 26:57Speaker 6: To me, like hell run through, but he plays in that.
- 27:00Speaker 5: That's where the comparison is. Yeah, And a lot of
- 27:03Speaker 5: people say, justin Herbert, that's the mix.
- 27:05Speaker 6: It's a mix of those guys to me, And it's
- 27:07Speaker 6: not either one of them is perfect, but I think
- 27:09Speaker 6: there's little elements of both that if you kind of combined,
- 27:11Speaker 6: And that's that's kind of what I just want.
- 27:12Speaker 5: Like Tim, like I've used that comparison a lot.
- 27:16Speaker 14: I don't.
- 27:17Speaker 4: I would never even dream of putting him on that
- 27:20Speaker 4: level of ability. He has never played a game. Yeah,
- 27:24Speaker 4: so I agree with Tim, Like, it's not it's not
- 27:27Speaker 4: call him Josh Allen. I don't think anyone is. I
- 27:29Speaker 4: think they're just kind of comparing them.
- 27:31Speaker 9: Yeah, it's just to categorize the guys, like it's just
- 27:33Speaker 9: leading up into the draft. How else do you get
- 27:35Speaker 9: these players to resonate with fans who don't really know
- 27:38Speaker 9: as much about it. You have to give it, you
- 27:39Speaker 9: have to give a comparison, but you can't read too
- 27:41Speaker 9: much into it.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Like yeah, I mean, even I think we get on
- 27:43Speaker 6: the field on ota is you'll start to get a
- 27:45Speaker 6: little bit of a sense. But on one point I
- 27:47Speaker 6: wanted to make off that call though, is that I'll
- 27:49Speaker 6: be very disappointed if this offensive line.
- 27:51Speaker 8: Is a disaster this year.
- 27:52Speaker 6: Like, I think that that's a huge miss if that,
- 27:54Speaker 6: if that ends up happening, I think that they have
- 27:57Speaker 6: enough depth there that they should be able to salvage
- 27:59Speaker 6: a serviceable, dedicated coach. Dedicated coach guy knows what he's doing.
- 28:03Speaker 6: He's been trained for a while under Bill Callahan. So
- 28:05Speaker 6: I mean, you know, kind of like Elliott Well, some
- 28:07Speaker 6: of these guys have been apprentices to do what they're
- 28:10Speaker 6: doing now. And you know, if that ends up short
- 28:13Speaker 6: circuiting this season and harming Drake May's development, I think
- 28:17Speaker 6: that's something that you really have to look at as
- 28:19Speaker 6: a point of criticism.
- 28:20Speaker 8: Where we all knew it. We knew it was a
- 28:22Speaker 8: disaster last year. It wasn't addressed.
- 28:24Speaker 6: We knew it was you know, we knew that that
- 28:26Speaker 6: was a big piece that had to be fixed, and
- 28:28Speaker 6: you went the wide receiver route. It seemed like even
- 28:30Speaker 6: if you traded back into the second round, you wanted
- 28:31Speaker 6: to go to the wide receiver route.
- 28:33Speaker 8: So I do think that that's an area that you
- 28:35Speaker 8: have to watch.
- 28:36Speaker 6: And that they I think they should be okay, though
- 28:39Speaker 6: good enough at least to not be like we can't
- 28:41Speaker 6: even put a rookie in because it's just the guys
- 28:43Speaker 6: are flying it.
- 28:44Speaker 4: I think that's going to depend on what they do
- 28:46Speaker 4: for a system. Evan's been talking about this a lot about,
- 28:48Speaker 4: you know, protecting the offensive line, and that was one
- 28:50Speaker 4: of the things that really stuck out to Mike and
- 28:53Speaker 4: I yesterday when we were watching a lot of those things,
- 28:55Speaker 4: and how many times Brady was the offensive line.
- 28:58Speaker 5: It was amazing.
- 28:59Speaker 4: How many times was absolutely immediate pressure Yeah, didn't matter
- 29:03Speaker 4: because you knew, he knew it was coming, he knew
- 29:04Speaker 4: where it was coming from.
- 29:05Speaker 10: Now, there's always going to be offensive line complaints.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think that there will be because I
- 29:10Speaker 4: don't think they've really done anything to address. So I
- 29:13Speaker 4: think they're going to have a similarly in terms of
- 29:17Speaker 4: the way they play. It's going to be similar, But
- 29:19Speaker 4: I think the offense is going to probably do more
- 29:23Speaker 4: because it's going to be so different and to protect that, yeah,
- 29:26Speaker 4: and but sort of and hide that.
- 29:28Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But will the communication be better on that?
- 29:30Speaker 5: I don't know those things to be, but that that
- 29:32Speaker 5: can help.
- 29:33Speaker 3: It would have helped even last year with those guys,
- 29:36Speaker 3: better communication even would have helped them.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:38Speaker 6: I mean I think even just in a heavy wide
- 29:40Speaker 6: zone system where you know, you want to I mean,
- 29:42Speaker 6: Drake's athletic, I mean, Jacoby's pretty athletic. I mean you're
- 29:45Speaker 6: gonna be running bootlegs with them, you know, stuff like
- 29:47Speaker 6: that off of play action. So you know, I do
- 29:49Speaker 6: think that there's some stuff baked into this offense that
- 29:52Speaker 6: you know, can just help. It's not going to just
- 29:53Speaker 6: be a spread attack where make sure we had the protection, right,
- 29:56Speaker 6: that's you know, not have any you know, free runners,
- 29:58Speaker 6: which is what you've seen a lot the last couple
- 30:00Speaker 6: of years, is those guys where it's like, well that
- 30:03Speaker 6: play had no chance because they were they weren't they
- 30:05Speaker 6: didn't have it protective, you know, And.
- 30:07Speaker 3: If a good defensive coordinator can create that anyway, that's
- 30:10Speaker 3: where the quarterback comes in, right, right, What do I
- 30:13Speaker 3: do when it's a red alert.
- 30:15Speaker 6: Yeah, and that feeds into the question of and you know,
- 30:18Speaker 6: to Tim's point about you know, I don't think you
- 30:20Speaker 6: need to feel that a quarterback is ready to read
- 30:22Speaker 6: the full field before you can put him in. I
- 30:24Speaker 6: do think there's ways that you can manage young quarterbacks,
- 30:28Speaker 6: you know. And and but how much are they gonna
- 30:30Speaker 6: put on Drake may I? You know, we again go
- 30:32Speaker 6: back to the breething. I mean, everything was on him,
- 30:33Speaker 6: he could, you know, And I think that was one
- 30:35Speaker 6: of the big criticisms of, you know, the system that
- 30:37Speaker 6: they kept going after Josh with Mack, that you put
- 30:39Speaker 6: so much on the quarterback that if he.
- 30:42Speaker 8: Misses one thing, he's dead.
- 30:44Speaker 6: So now, you know, I know there's you know, David
- 30:46Speaker 6: Anders been saying he's gonna start calling the protections and stuff.
- 30:48Speaker 6: So I do think that there's some mechanical shifting going
- 30:51Speaker 6: on within this new system that that I hope will
- 30:54Speaker 6: help keep them all on the same page.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Our first feedback on the Brady tickets, Carlos writes in
- 31:00Speaker 3: the show, just wanted to give an update on the
- 31:02Speaker 3: Hall of Fame cermony. Tickets are sold out and the
- 31:05Speaker 3: cheapest verified resale ticket was around two seventy five.
- 31:09Speaker 12: Wow.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Yeah, also wanted to ask what your guys opinion was
- 31:14Speaker 3: regarding to do your job signs being removed from the facility.
- 31:17Speaker 3: I personally feel like it makes sense considering it was
- 31:20Speaker 3: the previous coach's mantra. It's interested to hear your thoughts.
- 31:23Speaker 8: Yeah, I feel the same.
- 31:24Speaker 6: I mean, you've got to put your own stamp on
- 31:26Speaker 6: the team, You've got to put your own pictures up
- 31:28Speaker 6: you want to you know, that's that's I mean, that's
- 31:30Speaker 6: probably one of the fun parts of things that I
- 31:32Speaker 6: like about coaching is you have to have your own
- 31:33Speaker 6: philosophy and you know, those things are so attached to
- 31:36Speaker 6: Bill and I mean the general sentiments kind of remains
- 31:38Speaker 6: with what you see, Like we not me saw some
- 31:41Speaker 6: of the signs that you know.
- 31:42Speaker 8: Supposedly that they had up.
- 31:43Speaker 6: But you know, that's that's what each coach has in
- 31:46Speaker 6: their discretion and how they want to you know, what
- 31:48Speaker 6: messages they want to boil down and really want the
- 31:50Speaker 6: team to focus on.
- 31:51Speaker 9: So it's funny, it's become a narrative kind of because
- 31:53Speaker 9: it's like, has football been renovated in like twenty years,
- 31:57Speaker 9: Like they probably needed to refrash.
- 31:59Speaker 4: I just did the whole thing. They justly Yeah, like
- 32:02Speaker 4: before like what was that it's inside of ten years anyway.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Well, yeah, when they Yeah, they redid a lot down there.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Yeah they did the whole now but now they they
- 32:10Speaker 5: read it again.
- 32:11Speaker 3: I know.
- 32:12Speaker 4: But I'm saying when we moved, when I like, when
- 32:15Speaker 4: we moved over to the other side of the building,
- 32:17Speaker 4: that all football all changed. That's not that long.
- 32:19Speaker 3: No, when we first moved, Bill's office was right up front,
- 32:22Speaker 3: right and he had a window looking out. And then
- 32:25Speaker 3: when they redid it, they moved his into more.
- 32:27Speaker 10: The interior didn't want the window anymore.
- 32:29Speaker 3: They didn't want a window anymore.
- 32:31Speaker 9: Regardless, Like if you bought a house, if you bought
- 32:34Speaker 9: a house and the previous owners were like driving by
- 32:37Speaker 9: to see like what you were doing, Like don't update
- 32:39Speaker 9: the don't take the floors out like we worked hard
- 32:41Speaker 9: on this, or like oh you can't take the cabinets
- 32:44Speaker 9: or redo the kitchen.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Like for my pic, it's less about the snappy little
- 32:49Speaker 4: sayings because I'm not a big fan of Yeah, I
- 32:54Speaker 4: think that's I totally agree with Alex on that, like
- 32:57Speaker 4: take all of that out and put yours in it's
- 33:00Speaker 4: like to use to continue Alex's like home analogy, like no, no, no,
- 33:08Speaker 4: you have to have the pictures of my family up there, right,
- 33:11Speaker 4: I'm gonna put you know what I want. What I
- 33:14Speaker 4: am a little bit curious about is and I read this.
- 33:18Speaker 4: This was Cameron Wolfe's piece on NFL dot com, who
- 33:21Speaker 4: was here for the draft, so he had sort of
- 33:25Speaker 4: evidently a little bit of a tour and info session
- 33:29Speaker 4: about all the things. I'm a little surprised they took
- 33:31Speaker 4: away as many of the pictures of past success. I
- 33:36Speaker 4: would think that's something that you'd want to embrace, but
- 33:39Speaker 4: for whatever reason, they decided to take all that away.
- 33:41Speaker 4: But do your job, and now it's I have no
- 33:47Speaker 4: problem with any of that. Like Jimrod should have what
- 33:50Speaker 4: he feels is an important messaging on the walls. I
- 33:53Speaker 4: totally agree with his team. I'm with Alex, especially.
- 33:56Speaker 6: With the big criticism of you know, former Patriots assistants
- 33:59Speaker 6: trying to be Bill, like you can't like always just
- 34:01Speaker 6: keeping do your job, you know, like that's Bill's thing,
- 34:03Speaker 6: like he heeds.
- 34:05Speaker 4: I did like the camera and this is just the
- 34:07Speaker 4: one little critique I would say, And this was nothing
- 34:10Speaker 4: to do with what the Patriots have done. This was
- 34:11Speaker 4: the way it was written in the piece. It was
- 34:13Speaker 4: like they did have a picture of Belichick with other
- 34:17Speaker 4: past coaches. Oh well, that's nice, you know Rod rust
- 34:27Speaker 4: Bill Belichick, you know Bill Boshells. I just thought that
- 34:31Speaker 4: was kind of odd that they had, like that's what
- 34:34Speaker 4: they banished him too, like all with all the rest
- 34:36Speaker 4: of the you know, the memorable coaches and scouts.
- 34:39Speaker 5: I thought that was a little strange.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Well, you can bet on that, and if you're in

- 35:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you can bet on that. Speaking of betting, Yeah,
- 35:50Speaker 3: Sam's in Connecticut. What's up, Sam? Sam?
- 35:55Speaker 5: Sam?
- 35:56Speaker 10: Hey, Hey, guys, can you hear me?
- 35:57Speaker 5: Yes?
- 36:00Speaker 15: That a question about something I haven't really seen discussed
- 36:03Speaker 15: on the show so far. Looking at pats caps, the
- 36:08Speaker 15: Patriots to have around fifty million in cap space. Do
- 36:12Speaker 15: you expect them to spend that this season or do
- 36:14Speaker 15: you expect them to roll it over? And if you
- 36:17Speaker 15: do think they're going to spend it, what position slash
- 36:20Speaker 15: players do you think they may potentially use it on?
- 36:23Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, I do expect to expect them to spend
- 36:27Speaker 3: if not all of it, most of it.
- 36:29Speaker 8: I don't, I don't. I just don't see where they
- 36:31Speaker 8: can right now. That's my only thing.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Yeah, like, where are you just going to get it
- 36:34Speaker 4: a fie million in caps?
- 36:35Speaker 6: I mean I could see Matthew Judon getting a little sweetener,
- 36:37Speaker 6: but that's.
- 36:38Speaker 4: Not that could get forty billion.
- 36:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's you know, they they definite they
- 36:41Speaker 6: need Look, they need five ten million to sign all
- 36:43Speaker 6: the draft picks and everything.
- 36:45Speaker 4: So well I thought that was counting. That is that
- 36:47Speaker 4: I thought that that number took in to account the draft. Yeah,
- 36:51Speaker 4: so I mean also the neighborhood they have fifty they
- 36:53Speaker 4: have fifty million, you know in the draft. I mean
- 36:56Speaker 4: that's usually the way Miguel does it. Yeah, okay, but
- 36:58Speaker 4: maybe he didn't and I would say, you need you
- 37:02Speaker 4: definitely need some money for I R and you know
- 37:05Speaker 4: stuff like you know in season.
- 37:07Speaker 8: Yeah sort of, but still that but that's still a
- 37:10Speaker 8: pretty big number.
- 37:11Speaker 4: That's a huge it's a huge number.
- 37:13Speaker 5: But I'm just like, I'm with you. I don't like,
- 37:15Speaker 5: there's not a big ticket.
- 37:16Speaker 8: Item that you can talk about your thing.
- 37:17Speaker 6: Maybe it's a it's a subtraction that they're saving.
- 37:20Speaker 4: It for a subtraction that they're saving it, I mean
- 37:23Speaker 4: dead money.
- 37:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that's not going to be fifty No.
- 37:26Speaker 8: But you know, little chunks here and there. You know,
- 37:28Speaker 8: you get a little sweetener.
- 37:29Speaker 4: For you might get another another extension too, who knows.
- 37:34Speaker 4: I mean bar More was one. I was surprised there
- 37:36Speaker 4: wasn't as much. Who else redre Andre could get one
- 37:41Speaker 4: one probably wouldn't heat up too much space.
- 37:44Speaker 10: That narratives kind of started to about it.
- 37:47Speaker 3: I was like, already, huh, well yeah, I mean the
- 37:50Speaker 3: media obviously turns to him. There came in, you're gonna
- 37:55Speaker 3: get your Yeah, you really deserve it, you know. That's
- 37:58Speaker 3: how like some of them do it.
- 37:59Speaker 4: That's what they do in New York.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Yeah, they go up to the guy in the you know, boy,
- 38:03Speaker 3: I can't believe it.
- 38:04Speaker 5: You know they do that.
- 38:07Speaker 4: They do that to one guy in New York. Then
- 38:08Speaker 4: they go to the other guy that might play the
- 38:10Speaker 4: same position. A do you believe they gave that money
- 38:12Speaker 4: to that guy? My god, you're better than him.
- 38:15Speaker 3: And then before you know it, he's just yep. Yeah,
- 38:19Speaker 3: school girls.
- 38:19Speaker 5: And that's why Parcels calls them commies subvert from within.
- 38:24Speaker 3: And hi, evn't hi. How's Mike on one?
- 38:29Speaker 8: You he's good?
- 38:30Speaker 5: Yeah, nothing has changed about Mike on One who except
- 38:34Speaker 5: a role X. He said that at that he bought
- 38:36Speaker 5: with his new contract. But he didn't say no.
- 38:39Speaker 10: No, no to ask a good question.
- 38:42Speaker 5: I didn't get the model.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Was that an elected that he was riding?
- 38:47Speaker 5: No, I think it was a I don't think so,
- 38:49Speaker 5: but I guess he said that the defensive players got
- 38:52Speaker 5: them last year apparently, and some of the guys left
- 38:55Speaker 5: them here. Uh, you know, over the just leave him here.
- 38:59Speaker 5: And so it wasn't his bike, it was somebody else's bike.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Was the story? Big stuff?
- 39:06Speaker 6: What was Bentley saying about the kind of culture stuff?
- 39:09Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 39:10Speaker 6: I just saw him saying stuff about things. It's it's
- 39:12Speaker 6: all across the building.
- 39:13Speaker 5: Now, Yeah, there's news, there's new slogans and pictures.
- 39:23Speaker 16: Whiney can adult today, Cameron Wolf somewhere in the world
- 39:32Speaker 16: from NFL network, I think right network.
- 39:37Speaker 5: He had written his story obviously had some access to
- 39:40Speaker 5: to girod and he had written a story about some
- 39:44Speaker 5: of the new pictures and slogans. And you know, they
- 39:47Speaker 5: revamped football. It's not Bill's football operations anymore. So it's
- 39:51Speaker 5: there's different, uh stuff going on and uh and so
- 39:54Speaker 5: they they asked Jwan Bentley about what's your favorite slogan
- 39:58Speaker 5: and his was progress process something now is off the
- 40:03Speaker 5: top of my head, I cannot remember that's it.
- 40:06Speaker 8: Wow, yeah, I read it in.
- 40:09Speaker 5: The process progress payoff is what it is. And he
- 40:13Speaker 5: just said that that that's his favorite out of the
- 40:16Speaker 5: few that are floating around. But he did say we
- 40:19Speaker 5: have a slogan coach, well when that comes, well he did.
- 40:22Speaker 5: He did say that, you know, it doesn't really matter.
- 40:26Speaker 5: He was like, thank you, but yeah, he was like,
- 40:30Speaker 5: if you don't walk the walk, then you know, the
- 40:32Speaker 5: slow the slogan really isn't gonna gonna do much for you.
- 40:36Speaker 5: But yeah, he uh, you know, opened the press conference
- 40:39Speaker 5: with Celtics, ended it with Celtics. So I was happy
- 40:41Speaker 5: about that. Okay, that's what's really important right now.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Okay, Evan, did you have a chance to send your
- 40:47Speaker 4: best wishes to Mike Gorman? And if not, I did
- 40:50Speaker 4: on Twitter?
- 40:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it motivated you to get into the business.
- 40:54Speaker 5: I don't. I mean I didn't want to do the
- 40:55Speaker 5: job that he does, so I wouldn't say that. But
- 40:58Speaker 5: as a as a as a Green teamers, somebody that
- 41:01Speaker 5: bleeds green, I'm okay with saying that.
- 41:03Speaker 10: Did you cry?
- 41:05Speaker 5: It got a little Dusty full fledged tried.
- 41:08Speaker 10: I have I have photo evidence because it did.
- 41:11Speaker 5: And I'm not and I'm not just saying this because
- 41:14Speaker 5: you know I'm tough. No, I'm not really a crier.
- 41:16Speaker 4: I am a crier, and that's not something that.
- 41:18Speaker 5: Was when when he when he got he was getting
- 41:22Speaker 5: choked up. You could tell on his final sign off.
- 41:25Speaker 3: And it must have been a puddle when Tom Heysen left.
- 41:29Speaker 6: Well what about Johnny most That one hurts you way
- 41:32Speaker 6: before my time.
- 41:33Speaker 10: Only true Jack's last game tonight too, Right, Well, that's.
- 41:37Speaker 8: What I was going to bring up my Jack.
- 41:38Speaker 5: I don't think so they don't many.
- 41:40Speaker 4: People sucD Rock.
- 41:41Speaker 6: I do you think he's feeling like That's what I
- 41:43Speaker 6: didn't get because they said that Game seven would be
- 41:46Speaker 6: on ABC, But I didn't know if there was an
- 41:48Speaker 6: implication that they would lose.
- 41:49Speaker 5: No, No, there's no so that local TVs only get
- 41:52Speaker 5: first round.
- 41:53Speaker 4: I thought in the NHL they got the second round.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Maybe anymore. I think Mike said last night Orman said
- 41:59Speaker 5: that eight was the last time that they had No.
- 42:04Speaker 5: I thought the NHL was two rounds. Yeah, and he
- 42:06Speaker 5: wrote he did some interview. I'm sorry, I don't know
- 42:09Speaker 5: if he did a couple. I don't know which one
- 42:11Speaker 5: it was from, but he said that he still hasn't
- 42:14Speaker 5: forgave the NBA for selling their souls to the big
- 42:18Speaker 5: networks and getting you know, the local guys out of
- 42:20Speaker 5: the playoffs. You know, he's still that still bugs him
- 42:23Speaker 5: to this this day.
- 42:24Speaker 8: The cowards too, cowards.
- 42:27Speaker 4: It's funny. I love Mike Gormy, I do, but I
- 42:30Speaker 4: can't wait for the playoffs so I don't have to
- 42:32Speaker 4: watch the local broadcasts, especially in hockey.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Oh I don't watch anyway, You don't watch. I know
- 42:38Speaker 3: I watched the National.
- 42:39Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 42:41Speaker 3: It's just better.
- 42:42Speaker 4: It's it well, sometimes depends on what you're I just
- 42:45Speaker 4: like when something happens and I actually gets might actually
- 42:49Speaker 4: have happened, like when you watch the Bruins and I
- 42:52Speaker 4: know this is like taboo now because it's so sad
- 42:55Speaker 4: that and I do agree that it's sad that Jack
- 42:57Speaker 4: Edwards has to just step down because you can't do
- 43:01Speaker 4: it anymore. But like, I'd like to know what actually
- 43:04Speaker 4: happened on a play as opposed to the fiction worlds
- 43:07Speaker 4: that Jack Edwards.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Jack Edwards is Sean McDonough yeah.
- 43:11Speaker 9: When Jack Edwards compared the Bruins win to the Revolutionary War, though,
- 43:15Speaker 9: but that's a classic.
- 43:17Speaker 5: That's a classic.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Back in the day, it was different.
- 43:22Speaker 5: Give me when I just what I don't like about
- 43:26Speaker 5: the national because I know ESPN just took over and
- 43:28Speaker 5: TNT just took over, and as somebody that watches the
- 43:31Speaker 5: Bruins every single night, they don't know the team, like
- 43:33Speaker 5: they really don't, you know, they well I don't really
- 43:37Speaker 5: care about that, but they don't know the team and
- 43:39Speaker 5: that bugs me. Like I'm sitting there, like watching it,
- 43:42Speaker 5: and like they're talking about a guy that isn't even
- 43:45Speaker 5: in the lineup that night, or hasn't scored a goal
- 43:47Speaker 5: in ten games, and they're pumping them up or something
- 43:50Speaker 5: like that, and I'm like, have you guys actually been
- 43:52Speaker 5: watching this team play?
- 43:53Speaker 4: I hear that I haven't heard things like that, and
- 43:56Speaker 4: I just I'm with you, Fred, I've watched Sean McDonough.
- 43:59Speaker 4: I think they've done a fantastic job with the Toronto
- 44:01Speaker 4: series and they've gotten some of the the behind the
- 44:04Speaker 4: scenes stuff. Now what helps for Sean that he's a
- 44:06Speaker 4: Boston guy, so he probably does have a little I'm.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Not talking as much about the play by play guys.
- 44:11Speaker 5: I'm talking about the.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Think it's been terrific. And I like Brickley, but I
- 44:15Speaker 4: just think he gets sucked into the homersm of Jack
- 44:18Speaker 4: And yeah.
- 44:19Speaker 5: I can't I can't handle that. I can't stand Scal awful.
- 44:23Speaker 5: It's awful.
- 44:24Speaker 10: Now I have when I Scal's pretty good though, we'll.
- 44:28Speaker 4: See play by play guy.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Yeah, the Syracuse Robot, Oh yours are mean. I feel
- 44:33Speaker 5: like Scal though, Like last night, he's still complaining about
- 44:37Speaker 5: the reps. They're up thirty points and he's still bitching
- 44:40Speaker 5: about how they're not handled that in the free throw discrepancies,
- 44:43Speaker 5: like twenty to two as it should have been, like
- 44:45Speaker 5: the Celtics were the more aggressive team. But like Scal's
- 44:48Speaker 5: going off about the refs and I'm just like, dude,
- 44:50Speaker 5: they're winning the game by thirty points.
- 44:52Speaker 8: Is not the difference.
- 44:53Speaker 4: Six games all year, every one of them was because
- 44:55Speaker 4: of the refs. That Drew that Drew Carter kids just
- 44:57Speaker 4: like oh man, tough call. Like not every single time
- 45:02Speaker 4: they lose it's because of the rest.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I have to admit. When I was a green teamer
- 45:05Speaker 3: back in the eighties, I would listen to Johnny most. Yeah,
- 45:08Speaker 3: I mean for the entertainment. I mean it was completely biased.
- 45:11Speaker 3: It it was like ridiculous at times Tommy, but it
- 45:15Speaker 3: was just you had to listen to Johnny Mos.
- 45:17Speaker 5: I feel like scal is trying to be like Tommy
- 45:20Speaker 5: because Tommy always used to complain about the rafts and
- 45:22Speaker 5: all that stuff. But it's not the same, Like, it's
- 45:27Speaker 5: not this it was like when it was coming from Tommy.
- 45:29Speaker 5: It was different for some reason.
- 45:31Speaker 4: The only thing I would say about Scale and Tommy
- 45:35Speaker 4: is Tommy would die. Tommy would get down with the
- 45:37Speaker 4: ship like you kidding me, and then they would show
- 45:40Speaker 4: the replay and it'd be like blatant, right, and he
- 45:44Speaker 4: would just stay with it, like you know what. Scale
- 45:47Speaker 4: sometimes will watch the replay and go okay, all right,
- 45:51Speaker 4: he probably got him on the yard there.
- 45:53Speaker 5: That's the only plus I would say for Scale.
- 45:56Speaker 4: But I totally agree with you.
- 45:57Speaker 5: He's trying to rip off Tommy.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Yeah, Scale points, Yeah, I don't know, it's just like
- 46:02Speaker 3: and I think if you did a poll of people
- 46:04Speaker 3: who watched the local broadcast, most of most of the
- 46:07Speaker 3: fans want that they want the home of view. They
- 46:10Speaker 3: don't want objective, don't there's two things there too.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Much Like I want for my local broadcast, I want
- 46:22Speaker 4: homers I do. I want to listen to my team
- 46:25Speaker 4: get excited when my team does well. That doesn't mean
- 46:29Speaker 4: that I'm not calling what's going on on the game
- 46:31Speaker 4: in the game. And Mike Goleman was great because he
- 46:35Speaker 4: actually told you what was happening happening in the game
- 46:39Speaker 4: when it was to me the heyday was Mike, Tommy
- 46:42Speaker 4: and Bob Coozy. And when Kozy would tell you five
- 46:45Speaker 4: minutes into the game, Bird and Company didn't come to
- 46:48Speaker 4: play tonight. This game is going to go down a
- 46:49Speaker 4: little Why because they were so good they could turn
- 46:51Speaker 4: it on and off in the middle of a game.
- 46:53Speaker 4: He'd tell you they're not they didn't come to play tonight.
- 46:56Speaker 3: He wouldn't just.
- 46:57Speaker 4: Say the referees have put them in a hole in
- 46:59Speaker 4: the first quarter, which is what happens now.
- 47:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you know.
- 47:02Speaker 4: And that's I don't mind. I want Jack Edwards' enthusiasm,
- 47:07Speaker 4: but when the Bruins commit a penalty, I don't want
- 47:10Speaker 4: it to be a bad call every time. He called
- 47:12Speaker 4: the ref of coward the other night for being the
- 47:14Speaker 4: first guy off the ice, like I don't.
- 47:17Speaker 8: I just I didn't.
- 47:18Speaker 4: I didn't appreciate it. I understand, so he's probably just
- 47:23Speaker 4: like whatever, like tell me what's happening in the game,
- 47:29Speaker 4: Like I don't mind that you're rooting for this. I'm
- 47:30Speaker 4: rooting for the team, like I want the Bruins to win.
- 47:33Speaker 6: But hopefully he gets to call a win because the
- 47:35Speaker 6: way the Bruins look the other night, they are they're.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Trying to blow out.
- 47:38Speaker 5: I'm sorry you get like three shots and forty minutes.
- 47:41Speaker 5: It's not the ref's fault that you lost the game.
- 47:43Speaker 5: I swear to you. If if I have to listen
- 47:47Speaker 5: to Doris Burke call another Celtics Playoffs series against the Sixers,
- 47:50Speaker 5: I'll turn on the radio. I really like the horsebur She's.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Better with play by play as than color. Like color,
- 47:56Speaker 3: she feels obligated to say something after every play, like
- 48:01Speaker 3: I agree with criticism.
- 48:03Speaker 5: She has talk.
- 48:04Speaker 9: The other day, I forget which game I was watching.
- 48:06Speaker 9: I think it was either a Knicks game or maybe
- 48:09Speaker 9: even the Bucks. But JJ Redick was in the booth wow,
- 48:13Speaker 9: and Doris made a joke about like.
- 48:17Speaker 10: Oh, they barely even guarded him.
- 48:18Speaker 9: Looks like like JJ Reddick out there like as a joke.
- 48:22Speaker 9: JJ did not take it as a joke. JJ was
- 48:25Speaker 9: silent for the next five minutes until halftime, and then
- 48:29Speaker 9: the other guy in the booth was like trying to
- 48:30Speaker 9: get JJ to talk, but it was so awkward. JJ
- 48:37Speaker 9: goes that was a little unnecessary. Right after she said
- 48:39Speaker 9: that it was silent, I was like, oh no, I
- 48:41Speaker 9: have secondhand like awkward.
- 48:43Speaker 5: I can't do Doris. I just especially when they play
- 48:45Speaker 5: the Sixers, Like if they're playing a different team, it's fine.
- 48:48Speaker 5: But she grew up in like South Jersey and she's
- 48:51Speaker 5: the biggest Joel Embiid fan on the planet.
- 48:54Speaker 3: I've heard that criticism.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and I I just Boston fans.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Okay, well that's who the ones that are watching, Like
- 49:00Speaker 5: all of.
- 49:01Speaker 4: The national meanies are all rooting against your team.
- 49:04Speaker 5: That's not about rooting against them. I just don't need
- 49:06Speaker 5: to hear about how great.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Power to bring it back to the Patriots. You know,
- 49:14Speaker 3: during the game when we're covering the Patriots, I listen
- 49:17Speaker 3: to the broadcast whenever I can, and I'm doing the
- 49:19Speaker 3: blog and I hear people and it's amazing how right
- 49:23Speaker 3: off the bat, Jim Nance hates the Patriots. Mike Tarico
- 49:26Speaker 3: hates the Patriots, and I'm listening and I'm like, I'm
- 49:29Speaker 3: not getting that, Like they're doing an okay job. They're
- 49:32Speaker 3: not favoring and I get I would write, I would
- 49:35Speaker 3: say more so, especially in the early you know, two thousands,
- 49:38Speaker 3: if you were the fan of another team, he would say,
- 49:40Speaker 3: Jim Nitz, all he talks about is the Patriots, I.
- 49:42Speaker 4: Would definitely say, especially like the Color guys who loved
- 49:47Speaker 4: Bill right like it was completely apparent that these guys
- 49:52Speaker 4: are like bowing at the altar of it rightly. So
- 49:55Speaker 4: the guy won six titles. I understand why they had
- 49:58Speaker 4: such reverence for him, But I don't how you could
- 50:00Speaker 4: come out of any of those national broadcasts and think
- 50:03Speaker 4: people were rooting against Bill.
- 50:04Speaker 3: Phil Simms hates the Patriots.
- 50:06Speaker 5: You know, like it's like I don't know, you know,
- 50:09Speaker 5: normally I I that does like I try not to
- 50:12Speaker 5: do that, and it does bug me, but but it's
- 50:14Speaker 5: it's clear as like day with Doris with the Sixers,
- 50:18Speaker 5: Like I mean, every single time they set to play
- 50:19Speaker 5: the Sixers in the.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Playoffs, I'm probably not going to play the Sixers.
- 50:23Speaker 5: Though, no, probably not. You We're lucky, we're saving ourselves
- 50:26Speaker 5: from that.
- 50:26Speaker 9: All that to say, we've had some like legendary like
- 50:29Speaker 9: Jerry red Mey and Don Ricillo, Mike and Tommy Gil Santos.
- 50:33Speaker 10: Like, yeah, legendary, we had it so.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Good and Jerry, we we gotta let it go. With Donncillo,
- 50:40Speaker 5: he's not walking through that door.
- 50:41Speaker 4: What was the much better pair of Fred the guy
- 50:44Speaker 4: before Sean McDonough and yeah.
- 50:46Speaker 5: Like but it's all about Don cracking. They were great,
- 50:54Speaker 5: like that was that was invented by.
- 50:59Speaker 4: John Pearson.
- 51:00Speaker 8: Well that's me. That's good.
- 51:02Speaker 5: That was really good the only and I dare I
- 51:04Speaker 5: don't want to speak for you, Alex, but I'm sure
- 51:05Speaker 5: we're probably in the similar boat. She's a lot younger
- 51:08Speaker 5: than you, don't kid. Donnacillo with the Red Sox obviously,
- 51:13Speaker 5: Mike Gorman with the Celtics and Jack Edwards with the Bruins,
- 51:16Speaker 5: Like those were the three people that that's well. I mean,
- 51:19Speaker 5: Jack Everard's been doing it for nineteen years, so I'm
- 51:21Speaker 5: only thirty.
- 51:21Speaker 4: So like h Sean got a little bitter after he left. Yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 4: he actually complained was stole my act?
- 51:29Speaker 5: And he totally did. He sounded just like Sean who
- 51:32Speaker 5: had better me just like I think they were both excellent.
- 51:35Speaker 4: I think they were both excellent. I like Donald solo
- 51:37Speaker 4: a lot. Now to Fred's point, not to the point
- 51:40Speaker 4: where I'm going to wage a Twitter campaign to try.
- 51:43Speaker 11: Right, like.
- 51:45Speaker 5: The war camp.
- 51:46Speaker 10: I was working for Nesson mind you.
- 51:48Speaker 9: This was years after Don had gone to San Diego.
- 51:51Speaker 9: I would write a Celtics article or like a Bruins article,
- 51:53Speaker 9: and the comments would still be like, you guys.
- 51:56Speaker 5: Got rid of Don, bring back and it was unreal. Yeah, good,
- 52:01Speaker 5: good local announcer talk right there.
- 52:03Speaker 8: We didn't even mention my namesake or my my likeness.
- 52:06Speaker 7: I am.
- 52:09Speaker 9: Yeah, it's the national It's always a national crew for
- 52:12Speaker 9: Fred Chusick was a pretty good play by play guy.
- 52:15Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, he had. I had nothing to compare it to.
- 52:18Speaker 4: I was Derek Sanderson, Keys to the game, Skate Skate Skate,
- 52:23Speaker 4: I was.
- 52:24Speaker 5: I went to school with Derek Sanderson's son.
- 52:26Speaker 3: But we're forgetting the best color guy for the Red Sox.
- 52:32Speaker 3: He was the best.
- 52:33Speaker 9: The best experience I ever had in my career was
- 52:36Speaker 9: being a little Ness in intern and getting to watch
- 52:39Speaker 9: games with E and like as funny as he was
- 52:42Speaker 9: calling the games.
- 52:43Speaker 10: The stuff he said in the room. Oh, I write
- 52:46Speaker 10: a book.
- 52:47Speaker 6: I love that man.
- 52:48Speaker 4: Why did you like that so much?
- 52:50Speaker 3: Just just this little quirky you know, look at that
- 52:52Speaker 3: cheese and that one had hair on it, or you
- 52:54Speaker 3: know the time that he would swear on air and
- 52:56Speaker 3: then have to come back.
- 52:57Speaker 4: After Dave Price has taken four minutes between pitches. He's
- 53:02Speaker 4: telling you this guy's a clown. That's why he was
- 53:04Speaker 4: the best.
- 53:05Speaker 9: The best example of how beloved Ech was was when
- 53:08Speaker 9: David Price and Eck had that little altercation on the plane,
- 53:11Speaker 9: and instead of all of the fans standing by their
- 53:14Speaker 9: star cy young pitcher, they said, hell, no x our
- 53:17Speaker 9: guy and just the man, terrible.
- 53:22Speaker 5: Baby, he has the cards now or whatever you know
- 53:26Speaker 5: they want.
- 53:26Speaker 3: All right, let's get back to the phones. People are like,
- 53:29Speaker 3: what are they talking about? Well, this is our show.
- 53:31Speaker 3: We can talk about inside.
- 53:34Speaker 5: We went over a lot of news.
- 53:35Speaker 3: All right, let's go back to the ace ticket hut
- 53:37Speaker 3: line eight five five past five hundred. Landed is in Virginia.
- 53:40Speaker 3: What's up landing? You guys?
- 53:43Speaker 13: Doing good?
- 53:47Speaker 12: So first time caller. I never thought I'd have to
- 53:50Speaker 12: call in until I heard read all all a Baby
- 53:54Speaker 12: on live radio.
- 53:56Speaker 17: I had to come to fall and talk about how
- 54:00Speaker 17: I agree with him on how drafted Joe Milton could
- 54:04Speaker 17: affect our third overall pick developments be I'm twenty two
- 54:10Speaker 17: years old. This is the first time a quarterback has
- 54:12Speaker 17: ever been younger than me, and to throw him into
- 54:16Speaker 17: a position like that, if time's crazy when you're dealing
- 54:20Speaker 17: with I love Patriots, I love our fan base.
- 54:23Speaker 12: We're very uh, we're not very forgiving, and so I
- 54:28Speaker 12: want to put our quarterback in the best position possible
- 54:31Speaker 12: the defense.
- 54:32Speaker 15: But I also had a question for you guys, at
- 54:35Speaker 15: what point do you.
- 54:36Speaker 12: Guys think we can evaluate Draws Elliott's draft class. We
- 54:41Speaker 12: have to wait a year, two years, five years, wouldn't
- 54:45Speaker 12: be going to be able to look back and say,
- 54:48Speaker 12: how was their first draft at our GM and head coach?
- 54:53Speaker 3: Yeah, wow, good question.
- 54:54Speaker 8: I mean, thanks Landon, I mean training camp. I mean,
- 54:57Speaker 8: I'm not with it. That's not the final evaluation.
- 54:59Speaker 6: But I think right way, you're gonna know if these
- 55:01Speaker 6: guys can play the receivers, and you know, you're gonna
- 55:03Speaker 6: get a sense of Drake May right away. You're gonna
- 55:05Speaker 6: get a sense of where these offensive linemen are in
- 55:08Speaker 6: the depth chart.
- 55:09Speaker 8: How much is Kayden Wall is he at left tackle?
- 55:11Speaker 8: Is the starter?
- 55:11Speaker 3: You know?
- 55:12Speaker 6: I mean you can't make a final definitive judgment till
- 55:14Speaker 6: a couple of years evaluation.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Yeah, there's there's different places and each of them have
- 55:19Speaker 3: their own criteria, you know. But like you said, you
- 55:23Speaker 3: can't make the final call, the definitive call until like
- 55:26Speaker 3: two years, like if you.
- 55:27Speaker 9: Had made the call about Mac after his first season
- 55:31Speaker 9: compared to you know what I mean, Yeah.
- 55:33Speaker 3: People did, and.
- 55:35Speaker 5: If you want like the final pictures, I'm with Duce.
- 55:37Speaker 5: I think that one of the biggest players require one
- 55:40Speaker 5: of my biggest pet peeves is like, oh, you have
- 55:42Speaker 5: to wait three years, and you know, when we get
- 55:44Speaker 5: out there in training camp, especially for the skill player
- 55:47Speaker 5: guys like Jalen Polk and Javon Baker, we're gonna know
- 55:50Speaker 5: if those guys have got the juice or not, like
- 55:52Speaker 5: pretty much right away, when when Javon Baker lines up
- 55:55Speaker 5: against Christian Gonzales, can he get away from him or not?
- 55:58Speaker 5: Like we're gonna be able to see that.
- 55:59Speaker 4: I agree that's short extent, but I would say, you know,
- 56:02Speaker 4: just as a point of recent comparison, during training camp,
- 56:06Speaker 4: rookie year of Taekwon Thowton, I would have told you
- 56:08Speaker 4: this guy has some of that that you were talking about. Yeah,
- 56:11Speaker 4: I thought he was pretty good in his first camp.
- 56:14Speaker 4: Never Never did I think he was pretty good when
- 56:16Speaker 4: the game started.
- 56:17Speaker 5: Yeah, No, I think you have you need two years
- 56:20Speaker 5: because of the MAC thing, Like you need to see
- 56:22Speaker 5: how the when the league reacts, in the league adjusts,
- 56:26Speaker 5: is he's still going to be good post adjustment and
- 56:29Speaker 5: that usually takes at least a full year to be
- 56:31Speaker 5: able to see him. At least one full year, but
- 56:33Speaker 5: probably too.
- 56:33Speaker 4: And like to Mike's point, I think there's a chance
- 56:36Speaker 4: you might see Kayden Wallace at left tackle or even
- 56:39Speaker 4: right tackle. You know, I brought that up before when
- 56:43Speaker 4: you were still doing the interviews, like if if you
- 56:45Speaker 4: see would it be stunning to see both Wallace and
- 56:48Speaker 4: a core for a corps for it left and Wallace
- 56:50Speaker 4: at right?
- 56:51Speaker 8: I don't know, that's what.
- 56:52Speaker 4: I'm not expecting that, but I mean I wouldn't be
- 56:54Speaker 4: stunned to see it. Yeah, I mean that doesn't mean
- 56:57Speaker 4: to me, that doesn't make it. It doesn't make it
- 56:59Speaker 4: a good draft, right, like it means that he's better
- 57:02Speaker 4: than Calvin Anderson and Connor McDermott who they cut.
- 57:05Speaker 8: Yeah, and I mean I think too.
- 57:06Speaker 6: It's it's it's directly related to like what they need,
- 57:09Speaker 6: you know. It's like if they have in the key spots,
- 57:11Speaker 6: like you know, if the guard Robinson doesn't work out,
- 57:13Speaker 6: it's not.
- 57:13Speaker 8: That big a deal. But you know Wallace the receivers.
- 57:16Speaker 6: I mean then, I mean, I'm thinking back to seeing
- 57:18Speaker 6: to Kill Harry in training camp, seeing Cole Strange in
- 57:21Speaker 6: one on ones in training camp as a rookie, and
- 57:23Speaker 6: you know, you got bad juju vibes out of those
- 57:26Speaker 6: juju not juj, but you got bad vibes kind of
- 57:28Speaker 6: out of the gate of like is this guy can
- 57:30Speaker 6: this guy play? Because he like, you know, I mean,
- 57:32Speaker 6: Nikil Harry looked great from like the point he walked
- 57:34Speaker 6: to the top of the stairs to the sideline and
- 57:36Speaker 6: then it's just started, right.
- 57:39Speaker 4: I was like this close to callin Nikill Harry a
- 57:42Speaker 4: bust and OTAs before his rookie training camp, and it's crazy,
- 57:47Speaker 4: you know, it's like, well, let's wait, let's wait, because
- 57:51Speaker 4: Fred wasn't overly impressed either, but like you know, he's
- 57:54Speaker 4: a rookie, first round pick. You want to give him
- 57:56Speaker 4: a chance. Like you want to give him a chance,
- 57:58Speaker 4: but you know, kind of back full cracle to our
- 58:00Speaker 4: announcer category. If you're tell it everybody, then everybody's great,
- 58:04Speaker 4: and then they actually see them play and they're not great,
- 58:06Speaker 4: then what does.
- 58:07Speaker 3: That make you? Anybody have an example of someone who, uh,
- 58:14Speaker 3: we thought was a bust but then ended up not being.
- 58:17Speaker 4: Huh, that's a good question, because I have a million
- 58:20Speaker 4: the other.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Way, Yeah, a million the other way. But someone this
- 58:24Speaker 3: guy can't play and then all of a sudden he
- 58:25Speaker 3: surprised everybody.
- 58:28Speaker 8: I'm struggling. Yeah, I'm trying to so the closest I
- 58:31Speaker 8: can come.
- 58:32Speaker 4: And I wouldn't say bust because he was like a
- 58:34Speaker 4: third round pick, but like Anthony Jennings, I thought on
- 58:36Speaker 4: the way out of town, Yeah, yeah, he couldn't get
- 58:39Speaker 4: on the field. When he did get on the field,
- 58:41Speaker 4: he didn't do anything. Yep, And all of a sudden
- 58:43Speaker 4: he got a you know, his first real extended opportunity
- 58:46Speaker 4: last year, and I thought he played really well.
- 58:47Speaker 3: That's a good example.
- 58:48Speaker 5: Yeah, late bloomers like that, Yeah.
- 58:50Speaker 3: Late bloomers.
- 58:51Speaker 6: I'll still think about that. But just one other point
- 58:54Speaker 6: I want to make was like with and when you
- 58:55Speaker 6: like you kind of knew right out of the gate,
- 58:58Speaker 6: this guy's involved, like they're getting him at right guard,
- 59:00Speaker 6: they're getting him at right tackle, like he's in there
- 59:02Speaker 6: a lot like.
- 59:03Speaker 4: You put you right out of the gate. This guy's
- 59:05Speaker 4: going to play, yes, you don't know out of the
- 59:07Speaker 4: gate is he going to play well?
- 59:08Speaker 3: Right?
- 59:09Speaker 4: And then that's that's all you got.
- 59:10Speaker 8: That's my thing.
- 59:11Speaker 4: And I say this to Fred all the time. They
- 59:13Speaker 4: always tell you when it doesn't look good for a guy,
- 59:16Speaker 4: you can't to Evan's point, you can't evaluate you need,
- 59:19Speaker 4: you need three years. Can't evaluate these guys. But God
- 59:22Speaker 4: help us if a guy looks good. On September seventh,
- 59:27Speaker 4: mailed it what a draft pick? Like, nothing can change,
- 59:31Speaker 4: Nothing can change. And I'm telling you there's a lot
- 59:34Speaker 4: of guys that look good out of the gate. Chad
- 59:35Speaker 4: Jackson looked unbelievable out of the gate, never did really
- 59:40Speaker 4: anything for the paper.
- 59:41Speaker 6: I think to it's it's like situational because you know
- 59:44Speaker 6: the positions of need and you know when you just
- 59:47Speaker 6: see the coaches are giving a guy a chance, like
- 59:49Speaker 6: it's hard to know. Are they putting him in there
- 59:52Speaker 6: to see how he plays with the around the other ones.
- 59:54Speaker 6: We're not sure if this guy is really talented. Let's
- 59:57Speaker 6: put him with the ones and see how he kind
- 59:58Speaker 6: of looks out. Is he moving, you know, at the
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: same speed as those guys, or you know, is this
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: somebody that we really see potential in and and you
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: know we think he's Malcolm Butler.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: I was just gonna say, Malcolm Butler was one of
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: those guys that right away in ot A as you
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: saw them like with regular players, and you're like, they
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: have they have some confidence in this guy.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Hey, joining us right now on the WebEx Cisco line
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: is Mike Reese from ESPN. Hey Mike, what's up?
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: Fred?
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Hey Paul?
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: What's up again?
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: Cubicles?
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Are you in the building forever?
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: Oh, you're right here. I wanted the field. Yates had
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: a nice like bookcase behind him. He's rich May that's the.
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: Stadium.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Mike. I know we've got you on a laptop and
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: what you see is not what everybody else is seeing.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: So just so you know that but In We've got
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Deuce here, We've got Alex, We've got Evan, Paul myself.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: So thanks for joining us. What's up? How you doing?
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: How's your uh off season been so far?
- 1:01:02Speaker 14: Everything is great, Alex. I'm so happy you're in there.
- 1:01:05Speaker 14: I didn't see you when I was looking at the screen.
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: So awesome.
- 1:01:10Speaker 14: N everything is great, Fred, it's been it's been a
- 1:01:17Speaker 14: great off season. And I want to tell you yesterday
- 1:01:20Speaker 14: was a great day and just seeing Alex made me
- 1:01:23Speaker 14: think of it. I was down in Providence with six
- 1:01:26Speaker 14: players and it was really a very meaningful thing.
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:01:31Speaker 14: I know we're going to talk a lot about the football,
- 1:01:32Speaker 14: but I went down there because the team had They
- 1:01:37Speaker 14: were working with this Foster Forward or Not, you know,
- 1:01:41Speaker 14: nonprofit organization that set up three apartment units for three
- 1:01:46Speaker 14: youth that are aging out of foster care. And Fred
- 1:01:48Speaker 14: it was like an amazing building that they put together,
- 1:01:54Speaker 14: and with the Patriots being down there, it brought a
- 1:01:56Speaker 14: lot of media and and I was sort of uplifted
- 1:01:59Speaker 14: by being there.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: It was really cool to see.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: That's cool. And Mike, you you've always been really good
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: at covering those events, one because you know they're nice
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: events and like you said, uplifting, but you're also smart
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: because those are times where you get to know the
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: players a little bit differently.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Freddie Adam so Jacoby.
- 1:02:20Speaker 14: I hadn't seen him since he got traded in twenty seventeen.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: And he looked at me and he goes, you look
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: the same.
- 1:02:27Speaker 14: And I said, Jacoby, that's like the biggest compliment you
- 1:02:29Speaker 14: can give me right now, like, because I.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Don't feel the same. I feel old, I'm tired.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: My go ahead.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: I was just gonna ask you, Mike.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: You know you were here.
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: You've been covering this team since, you know, the late nineties.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: I know you got your start with Fred, but so
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: much has changed this year, and just what has it
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: been like from your perspective, the shift from kind of
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: how things had been now to Gerard and the energy
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: around the team. Just from your perspective talking to the fans,
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: I mean, you're so plugged in. What's that experience been
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: like from you as the whole culture's kind of shifted
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: here in Foxboro?
- 1:03:02Speaker 14: So just start with starting with Fred, because I was
- 1:03:05Speaker 14: reflecting on that recently, nineteen ninety seven first ever game
- 1:03:11Speaker 14: deuce preseason lambeau Field. Oh my gosh, like like think
- 1:03:16Speaker 14: about that, Oh, it's your your first job out of college,
- 1:03:20Speaker 14: and just go go cover a preseason game at lambeau
- 1:03:23Speaker 14: Field and Fred said to me.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Fred, I don't know if you remember this.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: You had your little camera with you.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: Get down on one knee, Mike, and just just say
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: something about the game.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: I remember the old postgame shows.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Absolutely, yeah, the best, the best.
- 1:03:41Speaker 14: So I was reflecting on that, and I think in
- 1:03:44Speaker 14: a lot of ways, Mike, like, I'm trying to just
- 1:03:46Speaker 14: keep an open mind this offseason, because you get used
- 1:03:52Speaker 14: to something for twenty four years and it's you know,
- 1:03:55Speaker 14: sometimes you get thinking like that's the only way to
- 1:03:58Speaker 14: do something, you know, and it was so successful that
- 1:04:03Speaker 14: it's like I can it's normal to think that way.
- 1:04:06Speaker 14: So as I'm older now, Mike, so like, I'm trying
- 1:04:09Speaker 14: to keep an open mind to say, Okay, don't judge
- 1:04:12Speaker 14: what's happening as much as just let it unfold and
- 1:04:16Speaker 14: report on what's happening, if that makes sense.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: It feels more open. It feels a little I.
- 1:04:20Speaker 14: Don't want to use the word looser, but just like
- 1:04:23Speaker 14: like a little bit of like everyone took an exhale
- 1:04:26Speaker 14: and it's sort of like, Okay, let's let's move this
- 1:04:28Speaker 14: forward and try something a little different.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: Okay, Mike. We can read what you had to say
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: about the draft on ESPN. So I don't want to
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: really get into like, you know, how do you think
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: this guy is going to do? And so on. But
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: in terms of one of the conversations that's going on
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: now is do you play Drake May right away? Or
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: you know, no matter what, do you let do you
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: have him sit at least for some of the season.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Are you in a camp or on that on that take.
- 1:04:56Speaker 14: I'm in a total camp of let it play itself out,
- 1:04:59Speaker 14: for like, I don't understand why anyone would have to
- 1:05:03Speaker 14: be like he has to play. And actually someone at
- 1:05:06Speaker 14: ESPN texted me that today he's the number three pick.
- 1:05:09Speaker 14: He has to play, and I said, I guess I'm
- 1:05:12Speaker 14: in the other camp of it will we will know
- 1:05:16Speaker 14: based on what we see, Yeah, and by by setting
- 1:05:19Speaker 14: like a declarative like it.
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: Has to be this.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: I just I don't understand that.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but this is also the camp that says he
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: has to sit and I don't agree with that either. Yeah,
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: me neither.
- 1:05:31Speaker 11: Friend.
- 1:05:31Speaker 14: So, but so here's my question to all of you,
- 1:05:34Speaker 14: like why, like why I understand we have debate and
- 1:05:38Speaker 14: we have to feel like airtime, but why do we
- 1:05:40Speaker 14: have to like say that it has to happen. Why
- 1:05:43Speaker 14: can't we let it play itself out and whatever happens
- 1:05:46Speaker 14: on the field dictates the decision, Like I guess I
- 1:05:50Speaker 14: don't understand.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: Someone enlighten me.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Yeah, No, it's a great point because if you go
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: back to twenty twenty one, I don't think anybody was
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: spending this saying.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: Mac Jones has to play, he has to be the starter.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: You couldn't have had much worse quarterback play the year
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: before with Cam Newton. So I don't remember everybody just
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: saying definitively yeah, but like the fifteenth overall pick has
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: to play, but the third overall pick has to play.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: Like to Mike's point, let the process play out.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: He and I usually locks down. I don't know if
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: you know, it's the best part of the award.
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: And that's what you're telling.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: And here's the thing with Mac. With Mac, had he sat,
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: do you think it would have made a difference, Like
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: if he had sat behind Cam Newton for half the
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: season or even a season, do you think it would
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: have helped Mac Jones?
- 1:06:41Speaker 15: No?
- 1:06:42Speaker 14: I fred I personally thought like at that point, like
- 1:06:46Speaker 14: it was so clear to everyone that was at practice
- 1:06:50Speaker 14: that he gave him the best chance to win.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: So I think it would have hurt the team if
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: he sat.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Definitely would have hurt the team.
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: Yeah, Mike, explain your reason, because this is something we
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: did talk about on the show about how the the
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: like the sort of a message that gets sent.
- 1:07:06Speaker 14: So if you're so to me, Paul, like, if you're
- 1:07:08Speaker 14: sending a message that it's all about competition and the
- 1:07:11Speaker 14: best players will play, and it's it was so remember
- 1:07:15Speaker 14: when Mack had that practice against the Giants. Yep, it
- 1:07:18Speaker 14: was so obvious at that point that it was the
- 1:07:21Speaker 14: offense was running a certain way with Mac that it
- 1:07:24Speaker 14: wasn't with Cam that I felt like Coach Belichick owed
- 1:07:27Speaker 14: it to the team to play Mac because if he didn't,
- 1:07:30Speaker 14: what message was he sending to the players, We're going
- 1:07:33Speaker 14: to play a quarterback that.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Doesn't give us the best chance to win. But it's
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: you know, we're gonna focus.
- 1:07:39Speaker 14: Here on the development of one player over what gives
- 1:07:42Speaker 14: the team the best chance to win. It's a balance, obviously,
- 1:07:46Speaker 14: but when it was, if it's that decisive, I think
- 1:07:49Speaker 14: you just let let that decision play itself out by
- 1:07:54Speaker 14: what happens on the field. And if it's like this, so,
- 1:07:56Speaker 14: how about this, would Jacoby and Drake? If it's close
- 1:08:00Speaker 14: who Jacoby right?
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: That can't hurt.
- 1:08:05Speaker 14: Drake will probably have to be that much better than
- 1:08:07Speaker 14: Jacoby to get the nod, just because it makes sense to.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Play it a little safe. Yeah, you know, if does
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: that make that that's.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: Sort of my view. Yeah, So I'm not going to
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: go run down the draft. But other than Drake, who
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: was your favorite pick for the Patriots or who's the
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: guy that you're most intrigued about seeing?
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: So I went with the last one, Fred Bell, the
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: tight end jahem Bell?
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: Did I say it right? Evan?
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a good answer, all right, And here's why.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: So I have to be honest.
- 1:08:40Speaker 14: I don't study the players as close as Evan does,
- 1:08:42Speaker 14: So I have to stay within what I feel most
- 1:08:46Speaker 14: comfortable in my wheelhouse.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: And I look at opportunity based on the roster.
- 1:08:51Speaker 14: So Hunter Henry, we know he's going to be there
- 1:08:52Speaker 14: at tight end, Austin Hooper pretty good, Betty's going to
- 1:08:56Speaker 14: be there behind him at tight end.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: So I look at like there's a spot behind those two.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: If Bell can do.
- 1:09:03Speaker 14: Sort of what he did last season, catch and run
- 1:09:06Speaker 14: short and intermediate roads, and so I like the opportunity
- 1:09:10Speaker 14: in this, you know, for him there, and I think
- 1:09:13Speaker 14: he's sort of a different maybe type of tight end,
- 1:09:16Speaker 14: sort of a not necessarily an inline guy and maybe
- 1:09:19Speaker 14: fits well with what Alex van Pelt and the Browns
- 1:09:22Speaker 14: have done with their tight ends.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: Yep, yeah, absolutely, I think that he has the most
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: explosiveness out of the group, definitely on I mean, Hunter
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: Henry's mister reliable, mister steady, but there's no doubt that
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: Jahim Bell is the best athlete in that room right now. Mike,
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: I wanted to ask you about Elliott Wolf's future and
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: just your read on you know, are they going to
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: interview people to maybe be an official general manager or
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: above him even on the totem pole, And do you
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: think that he there's a chance that he's given the
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: title after this offseason?
- 1:09:53Speaker 14: So my read is that and I don't know this
- 1:09:57Speaker 14: for sure, Evan, but I assume he's just going to
- 1:09:59Speaker 14: continue in his role. And if this was sort of
- 1:10:03Speaker 14: like a trial run for Robert Kraft to feel comfortable
- 1:10:08Speaker 14: with it, I think he did a good job and
- 1:10:11Speaker 14: he continues to do a good job in terms of
- 1:10:13Speaker 14: these resignings that we're seeing.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: So if there are interviews. To me, it would be
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: to compliment.
- 1:10:20Speaker 14: Elliott Wolfe, Matt grow Alonso high Smith, Patrick Stewart continue.
- 1:10:26Speaker 14: I don't want to leave anyone out, but you get
- 1:10:28Speaker 14: my point. I believe that the structure they have will
- 1:10:31Speaker 14: stay in place. But I am and I don't think
- 1:10:33Speaker 14: it'll be like a general manager title unless I'm way
- 1:10:37Speaker 14: off on that.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: It would be maybe like a vice president.
- 1:10:40Speaker 14: Of player personnel, which is if I recall what it
- 1:10:42Speaker 14: was with Bobby Greer back in the late nineties, when
- 1:10:46Speaker 14: Pete Carroll was coach, what Scott Pioli was, what Nick
- 1:10:50Speaker 14: Cassari was, did I and check me all of you
- 1:10:53Speaker 14: if I'm wrong on that.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: But no, there's no one. I mean, we know Bill was,
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: but there was no one since I've been here that
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: has had the title of general manager.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I would argue that that title is higher than
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: the general manager. But I wanted to ask you something
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: that we were talking about earlier in the show, Mike
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: about the cap space the Patriots. I think Miguel has
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: it at around fifty million of cap space. Do you
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: anticipate the Patriots using much of that? I mean, obviously
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: there'll be expenses that are incurred to take up some
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: of that. But in other words, is there another maybe
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: big money extension that's possible between now in training camp or.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Portrayed on resigning or something. Yeah, I like the thought
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: I was.
- 1:11:36Speaker 14: We talked to Ramandre Stevenson two days ago and he
- 1:11:39Speaker 14: talked about it. I know running backs aren't like necessarily
- 1:11:41Speaker 14: the biggest ticket items. He would be one that comes
- 1:11:45Speaker 14: to mind that could use some of that space, But
- 1:11:49Speaker 14: I Paul, off the top of my head, I can't
- 1:11:51Speaker 14: think of anything that would use a significant chunk as
- 1:11:56Speaker 14: much as just like good to have the flexibility, right,
- 1:12:00Speaker 14: opportunity presents itself in a trade that you have the
- 1:12:03Speaker 14: flexibility to do that. I'm curious with all of you, like,
- 1:12:07Speaker 14: are you thinking of something or am I missing something
- 1:12:10Speaker 14: with another player on the roster.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: No?
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you kind of batted it around, and I don't think.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: I don't think any of us really envisions a big
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: ticket item coming available now. The obvious one as a
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: possibility would be one of the veteran wide receivers, you know,
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: a T. Higgins or a Brandon Ayuk, and then you
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: acquire them and give them a big, you know, a
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: big contract.
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: But I don't really think any of us envisions that.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: I can't think of anything, But I think an opportunity
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: will present itself, and I think I think they will
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: if they have an if they have a chance, they'll
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: they'll they'll take you know, they'll do it.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I wonder if it's a you know, there's still
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: some veteran defensive players in free agency that didn't sign
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: before the draft. You know, Stefan Gilmore is obviously the
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: biggest name. I think Justin Simmons is still out there too,
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: if I'm not mistaken. But you know, Mike, do you
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: have any indication at all if if Gilmore would be
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: open to a reunion with the Patriots. And I don't
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: know if you know about his relationship with Gerard at all.
- 1:13:10Speaker 14: You know, so so not too much Evan, And I
- 1:13:14Speaker 14: think I'm thinking about the position off the top of
- 1:13:16Speaker 14: my head. I mean, they possibly could use a little
- 1:13:18Speaker 14: help there, my gut. Evan tells me that they'd like
- 1:13:22Speaker 14: to see the young kids first before and so I
- 1:13:27Speaker 14: think timing wise, I wouldn't sense like anything like right now.
- 1:13:31Speaker 14: But I I you know, Stefan, I think I don't
- 1:13:34Speaker 14: think like this would be like a door closed type thing.
- 1:13:37Speaker 14: But he's a very shrewd in my opinion, businessman, So
- 1:13:41Speaker 14: I don't think it would be like I want to
- 1:13:43Speaker 14: come back on a short money deal. Like I think
- 1:13:46Speaker 14: he's going to be out there looking for a significant deal.
- 1:13:50Speaker 14: And if ultimately the Patriots like, like, let's be honest,
- 1:13:53Speaker 14: you know, like Christian Gonzalez incredibly promising, but I mean
- 1:13:57Speaker 14: he did get hurt right in the fourth game of
- 1:13:59Speaker 14: his career the depth.
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: Mike, I just got a text from p R you
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: wanted elsewhere. You have something coming up in a couple
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: of minutes the room.
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: They need room, Mike, So I'm.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: Gonna let you go, but I appreciate you coming on
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: and always always a pleasure to talk to. Mike g Reese.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Awesome, all right, thanks for having.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: Me, Mike, Mike, all right.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: I always tell you.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: My favorite Mike Greece story is the day that I
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: because I was hired to replace Mike Reese here, good job,
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: and you know Fred the Kingmaker Pete Carroll was the
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: coach at the time, and Brian Moorey introduced me to
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Pete and he said he's replacing Mike, and he goes,
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: whoa big shoes to Phil.
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: Then he goes, well, actually, but but welcome.
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: But that's and that's Mike Reese two years out of college,
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: Like that's his He established.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: That relationship professionalism even at that two years. That's why
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: I tell the story not to take a crack at
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: Mike being small, but more so that the respect the
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: head coach had all around.
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure probably twenty four years old.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: She's pretty sure when Andy Hart left in twenty twenty,
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: they didn't go to Mike do so and say, oh, Bill,
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: Bill Belchieivisor's advisor to film, and he would be like,
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: oh that hurts.
- 1:15:13Speaker 8: Well, that's stings.
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: But after a head size and I feel like maybe
- 1:15:16Speaker 6: I could fill it.
- 1:15:17Speaker 10: Your head size is the angle.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: Foods here, We're gonna take a break when we come back.

- 1:16:53Speaker 18: And we are back with another edition of a PU
- 1:16:56Speaker 18: halftime show. It to He's down here, Chris Cassidy, as
- 1:16:59Speaker 18: always were, start off with some trivia. I got some
- 1:17:01Speaker 18: good stuff today, Chris. Don't answer it, all right, I might.
- 1:17:04Speaker 18: Question one, when was the last time the Patriots wore
- 1:17:09Speaker 18: their silver alternate jersey? All right, give me the week,
- 1:17:12Speaker 18: the year and the opponent the week. Yeah you're yeah, yeah,
- 1:17:16Speaker 18: week the year, opponent?
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: All right? Question two?
- 1:17:19Speaker 18: Who caught Vinny Testaverde's only career touchdown passes the New
- 1:17:24Speaker 18: England Patriot? Probably don't even know.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: What that is?
- 1:17:28Speaker 18: And question number three, how many rushing yards did Fred
- 1:17:32Speaker 18: Taylor have.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: As a New England Patriot? All Right, you probably don't
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: even know what that.
- 1:17:35Speaker 11: Is either, Fred Taylor?
- 1:17:36Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, all right, Bill's guy.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: Anyways, let's get into it. Let's get it. Let's get
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: into it. Let's get into it.
- 1:17:44Speaker 18: Jack's guy, all right, okay, alright, right, So so so, Chris,
- 1:17:48Speaker 18: there's been a while since we've done some of these
- 1:17:50Speaker 18: because it's been kind of busy here a little bit.
- 1:17:52Speaker 11: Yeah, we had the draft, we did.
- 1:17:54Speaker 18: We did Yeah, saw A class the first of the
- 1:17:57Speaker 18: Mayo Mayo Elliott wolf Era. But no, we're gonna do
- 1:18:00Speaker 18: a little breakdown on our end what we think of
- 1:18:02Speaker 18: the draft, we think of the picks, and so Chris,
- 1:18:07Speaker 18: what do you think?
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Just like quick grade overall quick grade?
- 1:18:12Speaker 11: Yeah, before I give the grade to say, I think
- 1:18:16Speaker 11: they hit all the pieces that they needed. Okay, were
- 1:18:19Speaker 11: they the right pieces, we don't know yet for sure,
- 1:18:23Speaker 11: but overall I would give him around a B plus
- 1:18:25Speaker 11: A minus.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going I was going B B plus.
- 1:18:30Speaker 18: Listen, I think the may pick was needed, it was
- 1:18:32Speaker 18: the gat, it was the right pick, and the way
- 1:18:35Speaker 18: the board played out, I think they're very smart they
- 1:18:39Speaker 18: didn't trade that pick. I mean, you were on the
- 1:18:40Speaker 18: draft countdown, we're talking about potentially, you know, getting a
- 1:18:43Speaker 18: haul from the Vikings and trading back. But I mean,
- 1:18:45Speaker 18: look what happened to the Raiders. Like Pennix went super early.
- 1:18:48Speaker 18: He wasn't gonna be there in the second round.
- 1:18:51Speaker 11: I mean that Penis pick is still nuts.
- 1:18:53Speaker 18: But you could we could go into a whole thing
- 1:18:55Speaker 18: about that too. But listen, I personally a little not
- 1:19:00Speaker 18: disappointed because the pick needed to be done. The Caden
- 1:19:03Speaker 18: Walls and Leyden Robinson pick. They needed to be done.
- 1:19:06Speaker 18: I just think there were some really good players on
- 1:19:09Speaker 18: the board that you missed that, like, like, you know,
- 1:19:12Speaker 18: we we took the tackle, but you know you had
- 1:19:14Speaker 18: Roman Wilson there, you had the other tackle from Pittsburgh,
- 1:19:20Speaker 18: addas at Isaac the defensive end, and you know, I
- 1:19:23Speaker 18: just feel, like Evan mentioned it, there was a top
- 1:19:25Speaker 18: tier line of tackles and I think we missed out
- 1:19:28Speaker 18: in a couple. So I hope Wallace works out. And
- 1:19:32Speaker 18: then also with Polk, I listen, he's very good, and
- 1:19:36Speaker 18: it's tough because you know, you had all the shiny
- 1:19:37Speaker 18: toys there, Adie Mitchell, Roman Wilson as mentioned earlier, and
- 1:19:41Speaker 18: I guess Polk was hiding a lot of people's boards.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: The Nutburn Baker. The Baker pick made the Polk pick
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: feel better.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I agree.
- 1:19:52Speaker 11: I think I was just about to pick your back
- 1:19:54Speaker 11: off of the pole comment that you just made. But
- 1:19:55Speaker 11: I think that Javon Baker picked by the Pats in
- 1:19:59Speaker 11: the fourth round, by the way, their second fourth round pick,
- 1:20:01Speaker 11: which was even the kind of it was really piggybacked.
- 1:20:08Speaker 11: I mean I already use that term picking back of
- 1:20:10Speaker 11: for you, but that it was a huge ad with
- 1:20:13Speaker 11: the Jalen Polk pick, just because kind of counter one another.
- 1:20:17Speaker 11: And also, I mean, whoever's playing quarterback this upcoming season,
- 1:20:20Speaker 11: they have weapons around them and they haven't really had
- 1:20:23Speaker 11: that deep ball threat. Both of these guys are deep
- 1:20:25Speaker 11: deep ball threats. Jalen Polk especially, I mean one of
- 1:20:30Speaker 11: the better contested catch players in college.
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: Football last year.
- 1:20:34Speaker 11: So these both of these editions were huge for the team. Yeah,
- 1:20:39Speaker 11: and again, I think that Jayvon Baker pick was high
- 1:20:41Speaker 11: on everybody's boards here in New England.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: And I mean I haven't got up draft guys, ivn't
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: got up.
- 1:20:46Speaker 11: I haven't seen a remotion. I haven't seen a reaction
- 1:20:48Speaker 11: like that before. And it was pretty funny and so
- 1:20:51Speaker 11: Evan was pumped.
- 1:20:52Speaker 18: It also shows that they were you know, it's been
- 1:20:55Speaker 18: a last since we had at true receive over here.
- 1:20:57Speaker 18: I mean they reportedly made like tried make a move
- 1:21:00Speaker 18: for Xavier l Get and key On Coleman, who I
- 1:21:04Speaker 18: know Evan wasn't high on key On Coleman, but.
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: I've already come to terms that since he's not here,
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: he's gonna be a superstar. Yeah, that's just how That's
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: just how you.
- 1:21:12Speaker 11: Were saying forever that you thought is going to be
- 1:21:14Speaker 11: a bust.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: Was Evan talked my ear in my ear, he got
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: on my ear, and I, you know, I hope he is.
- 1:21:21Speaker 11: I've been I've been pretty high on Keon for the
- 1:21:23Speaker 11: most part, but I he scares me a little bit
- 1:21:26Speaker 11: in the sense that he's very Harry esque. Yeah, and
- 1:21:30Speaker 11: I mean he's serviceable, but when he a league, you
- 1:21:34Speaker 11: don't know how he's gonna fully adjust the Bills. The
- 1:21:36Speaker 11: Bills kind of made a move for him, essentially.
- 1:21:39Speaker 18: It's funny because we talk about we talked about all
- 1:21:43Speaker 18: these receivers, and I honestly don't think we mentioned Polk.
- 1:21:46Speaker 18: I mean, Evan Deduce like wrote about him, but like
- 1:21:48Speaker 18: in the Draft Countdown podcast, we didn't really talk about him.
- 1:21:50Speaker 18: And then you like look at his tape and he's
- 1:21:52Speaker 18: he's solid. You're just like overshadowed by Roma Dunde, who's
- 1:21:55Speaker 18: a beast.
- 1:21:56Speaker 11: Yeah. I think Evan had him in his uh. I
- 1:21:58Speaker 11: think it was his twelve spot. Yeah, was this twelfth
- 1:22:00Speaker 11: receiver on On in the draft and kind of in
- 1:22:03Speaker 11: that second tier of guys aside from the Parrison's neighbors.
- 1:22:08Speaker 11: And yeah, Brian Thomas's and everybody else up there. But
- 1:22:12Speaker 11: he was in that second tier. And I mean, to
- 1:22:15Speaker 11: Evan's credit, he was. He wasn't one hundred percent on it,
- 1:22:17Speaker 11: but he was. He was kind of there with what
- 1:22:19Speaker 11: he was writing. And I mean, our guys really did
- 1:22:22Speaker 11: a pretty good job of keeping track of the guys
- 1:22:24Speaker 11: that the Patriots were interested in this year.
- 1:22:25Speaker 18: So another guy I wanted to talk about, and it
- 1:22:28Speaker 18: would have been a luxury pick, Jatavian Sanders.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: I think that was a potential miss.
- 1:22:33Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:22:33Speaker 18: I mean he just kept dropping just the way the
- 1:22:35Speaker 18: board was playing out. I mean, he actually was taking
- 1:22:37Speaker 18: two picks before Leyden Robinson and then you know, we
- 1:22:40Speaker 18: got a tight end in the seventh. But yeah, there
- 1:22:44Speaker 18: were beasts.
- 1:22:45Speaker 11: There were two tight ends that I personally felt the
- 1:22:48Speaker 11: Patriots could take that weren't going to be in that
- 1:22:50Speaker 11: first year of tight ends. Uh, And it was Jatavian
- 1:22:54Speaker 11: Sanders and Jaheem Bell. I thought Jaheene Bell had a
- 1:22:57Speaker 11: really good career at South Carolina before coming over to
- 1:22:59Speaker 11: Florida State. By the way, Marcel Style and Yeah Dreams
- 1:23:03Speaker 11: teammates teammates back in South Carolina in twenty twenty two.
- 1:23:07Speaker 11: But when jahaem Bel made the switch to Florida State.
- 1:23:10Speaker 11: I mean really, he became that number one tight end
- 1:23:13Speaker 11: on a college football team and that was a big
- 1:23:15Speaker 11: thing for him. And he flourished at Florida State. He
- 1:23:18Speaker 11: was great. So you know, he's really a bigger guy.
- 1:23:22Speaker 11: He can get get targets and he's also a pretty
- 1:23:24Speaker 11: good run blocker. So the overall really solid pick for
- 1:23:27Speaker 11: the Patriots, something that they needed. And between those two guys,
- 1:23:32Speaker 11: he was one of the two that I felt they
- 1:23:33Speaker 11: could take and they got him.
- 1:23:34Speaker 18: So let's go into one more thing, and it was
- 1:23:36Speaker 18: a big thing on the filth third, Joe Milton, what
- 1:23:39Speaker 18: are your thoughts like that liston We Got It Machine.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: He's a beast.
- 1:23:44Speaker 18: I think he's a great player or like a great athlete.
- 1:23:47Speaker 18: He's a great quarterback. And you know, I'm I'm not
- 1:23:51Speaker 18: in on ZAPPI nice kid, I'm sure.
- 1:23:53Speaker 11: But he's great. I love love Bailey Zappy.
- 1:23:56Speaker 18: I'm more at the thing, yeah, the Avon and Paul thing,
- 1:23:58Speaker 18: which is like, you know, he's gonna look great and
- 1:24:01Speaker 18: T shirts and a short. He's gonna throw a bomb
- 1:24:04Speaker 18: to Baker this summer. And you know, Drake May might
- 1:24:07Speaker 18: have some growing pains and stuff like that. And then
- 1:24:09Speaker 18: you got the twenty four year old freak athlete who's
- 1:24:12Speaker 18: gonna throw a deep ball and THENTO a backflip.
- 1:24:14Speaker 11: That's so what's interesting about Joe Milton? And again we
- 1:24:18Speaker 11: mentioned we already mentioned Bailly Zappy. It's kind of tough.
- 1:24:20Speaker 11: He was released last season and uh, you know he
- 1:24:26Speaker 11: after being released last season was picked back up by
- 1:24:29Speaker 11: the Patriots. But Joe Milton, he's somebody that you know
- 1:24:33Speaker 11: has similar issues to Drake kind of pocking mobility is
- 1:24:36Speaker 11: not quite there. Yeah, but I mean he he has
- 1:24:40Speaker 11: ability to be the interesting quarterback backup possibly in this NFL.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: So I'm Milton over Zappy for backup.
- 1:24:46Speaker 11: I don't know if he's I think kent with.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: It, because what kind of athlete doesn't want to go
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: for the starting job.
- 1:24:51Speaker 11: Your three quarterbacks? But sorry, Milton, May and Versette this
- 1:24:55Speaker 11: season we share a birthday.
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: There you go, all right, Chris, thanks for joining.
- 1:25:01Speaker 18: As always, guys, send your hands to the web Radio
- 1:25:04Speaker 18: Pictures dot Com and let's get back to the show.

- 1:25:13Speaker 19: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery.
- 1:25:17Speaker 19: Everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:25:21Speaker 19: now it's next for residential delivery.

- 1:25:39Speaker 3: inviting me.
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: Oh, it's actually for Mike's brother.
- 1:25:41Speaker 8: It's for my brother in law.
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: Wanted nothing more pha he's out. He wanted nothing cameo, Yeah,
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: they want. He wanted nothing more than a cameo from
- 1:25:49Speaker 6: Hardy for our family secret.
- 1:25:52Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 1:25:53Speaker 10: I didn't see the video, but he told me the story.
- 1:25:55Speaker 8: Oh, and I have a video of my brother in
- 1:25:56Speaker 8: law opening.
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: So Hardy was like, well, why don't we just go
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: to Top Golf cut my brother than Lockolf's And so
- 1:26:02Speaker 6: I had the video of course, o'hardy. But then I
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: took a video of my brother in law opening it
- 1:26:05Speaker 6: and like you've never seen anyone more excited, And like
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: when you.
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: Heard Parrillo's gonna be there too, Oh, let's go.
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: He's from southeast Like yeah, he get so excited.
- 1:26:14Speaker 4: They love you, not like Hardy. You should have seen it.
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: It was like Brady gave him the cameo when he
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: found out.
- 1:26:21Speaker 10: It's like a thirteen year old open like Taylor Swift
- 1:26:23Speaker 10: Tickets under the tree.

- 1:27:11Speaker 3: What do you mean water? No sprink I could put
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: my own sprinkler. You know, I could water, But you know,
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: but you're to August, and it's like you feel guilty.
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: But you know what I'm saying is you don't have
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: any I don't have irrigation.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't have an irrigation system.
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: We do and my dad, not me, but my parents
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: house does. And like my dad's obsessed with technology, so
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: he's like always on the freaking phone app like playing with.
- 1:27:35Speaker 11: It and stuff.
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: It's like I don't want the sprinklers to turn on
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: when I get home because then I'll And I'm just like, okay, mister,
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: go go gadget over here.
- 1:27:44Speaker 8: That's fun.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: But like everybody's grass looks great, now mine doesn't.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: It looks like c really I agree for even mine
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: looks good.
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: I gotta do some weeding, I like, I just it's
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: it's a life project of mine with the lawn.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: But yeah, I have some minor issues in the back,
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: the rabbits that lived back there.
- 1:28:01Speaker 8: But you got the Japanese not weed. It's just this.
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: It's a nice you got the Japanese little trivia.
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: Anybody ready, let's go.
- 1:28:09Speaker 8: It's an Invasi's plant. It's invasive, Paul, It's a big problem.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: What is the last time the Patriots wore their silver
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: alternate jersey?
- 1:28:17Speaker 14: Oh?
- 1:28:17Speaker 8: I helped him rite anything the opponent in.
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: Their silver alternate jersey.
- 1:28:26Speaker 6: All right, we don't know that was Cowboys, No, but
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: it's Buffalo seven, right, Buffalo seven.
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: I was literally just about to say Buffalo and you
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: jumped all.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: Over seven and they should Those are awful.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: I did have time. I apologize.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: Who caught Vinnie Testaverdi's only career touchdown pass as a
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: New England Patriot?
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: Christian Fourier incorrect?
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: Daniel Graham incorrect. I don't even think they play it together.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Answer is Troy Brown.
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: I knew it was one of those.
- 1:28:54Speaker 8: I remember.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: I thought that was something about four being an answer
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: to a trivia question.
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: Oh, with that over, finally, how many rushing yards did
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: Fred Taylor have as a New England Patriot?
- 1:29:05Speaker 11: Oh?
- 1:29:05Speaker 8: Boy, it's like two or three games. I'm going to
- 1:29:07Speaker 8: say four hundred and thirty eight.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: You would be wrong.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: Two hundred and seventeen.
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: Incorrect, one hundred and eleven, one hundred and fifty five.
- 1:29:19Speaker 8: Fifty five.
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: I remember, like, I think it might have been against
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: the Jets that he was because he was I mean,
- 1:29:25Speaker 6: he probably maybe dressed for two games, but there was
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: one game at the Jets.
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: I guess it was ten or nine that.
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: That he had the he had like a really nice run.
- 1:29:33Speaker 6: I remember it got called back for a penalty. And
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: this is the weird things to stick in your brain
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: and like, oh Fred Taylor, Yeah, yeah, yeah, you see
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: how it works, and then we never saw him again.
- 1:29:40Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:29:41Speaker 5: Speaking of running backs, I have a question for the group.
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: You guys want to give Rimandre a second contract?
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: No, it would have to be very very team friendly,
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: you know, coming off an injury right now and running
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: back and you know the way they go through right
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: backs here and it doesn't seem to hurt them.
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: I wouldn't give him an extension now, but after the year,
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: I would let him explode the market and take him
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: back on a friend.
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: Can I throw a question back at you? No, I
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: just to looking at the running back depth chart. I mean,
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: considering what they want to, you know, probably do with
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: the wide zone. Do you feel like they have the
- 1:30:15Speaker 6: horses right now? I mean it's Stevenson and Gibson and
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: then a whole lot of math. I mean it's you know,
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: Kevin Harris, undrafted, Deshaun Fenwick, Jamichael Hasty Keys, Shaan Vaughan.
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: I mean, you got two guys, which is kind of
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: what you had last year. But I I just I'd
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: like another guy like and I'm not sure.
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: Guy from Oregon State.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: Why does that ring a bell to me?
- 1:30:31Speaker 8: I think so that sounds right.
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: I mean, Fenwick just stick to me because he's not.
- 1:30:37Speaker 8: He's not a bishop.
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: H Yeah, it's a good question. I mean, obviously Antonio
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: Gibson fits it extremely well.
- 1:30:43Speaker 8: But I I do wonder.
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: I think Remandre doesn't in a in a one cut sense,
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: you know, if he if you're asking Rimandra Stevenson to
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: turn the corner, then I don't think you're that's him.
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: But if your plan is to, you know, just stretch
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: it and then cut it back up the field, I
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: think that he could do that sort of thing. I
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: do wonder if they would add another running back at
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: some point, you know, the Zeke Elliott type of signing,
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:31:09Speaker 11: News.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: I don't think we mentioned that. The other day Tuesday,
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: he did officially resign with fifteen.
- 1:31:16Speaker 8: From Trey Lance. I can't get respect.
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: I will say, you know, we talked a lot about
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: their ability to continue to win with all those quarterbacks.
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: When Nick Chubb went down, the offense kind of maintained
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: some semblance of competence. So maybe they don't feel like
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: the the individual running back is as important as.
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: I shouldn't be in that scheme. And yeah, I wonder
- 1:31:37Speaker 5: if they have a Zeke type signing.
- 1:31:39Speaker 6: You know, late veteran addition and or Kevin Harrison.
- 1:31:42Speaker 5: I'll just throw it out there. Jahan Bells played running back.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: YEP, I get my intel from FSU in house intel
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: on well I.
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: Was going to say. I was like, do you have
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: an actual in because I'm writing.
- 1:31:54Speaker 8: The profile according to the Patriots video guys.
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: Scrap, yeah, one of our guys.
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: He's a psychotic Florida State fan, and yeah he did.
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: I saw him walking in the other day and I
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: mentioned it to him. I was like, hey, we got one,
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: you know, in Philodralphia for like twenty minutes and tell
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: you about all the place.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: That's what happened to me.
- 1:32:14Speaker 8: He's like, wait, what happened?
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: Wait?
- 1:32:15Speaker 6: Why weren't you guys in the playoffs?
- 1:32:17Speaker 8: You just walk into that nest.
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: Oh, I've done that before and into that just for fun,
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: Fred just comes down to talk to like Matt sometimes,
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: and every once in a while there's like a Scrap rant.
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: Oh yeah, no, I've heard right, And he looks and
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: he's like, what's going on down here?
- 1:32:32Speaker 6: I mean, for those listening, this is a guy named
- 1:32:34Speaker 6: that's called Scrap that has a thick North Shore Boston.
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: Is it a north Shore accent? Would that be accurate
- 1:32:38Speaker 6: way to say it?
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: Boston?
- 1:32:40Speaker 8: Just a Boston, pure bost Why you have to?
- 1:32:43Speaker 6: I feel like the accents are the hardest, just because
- 1:32:45Speaker 6: we're better the hardest Boston accents.
- 1:32:47Speaker 8: I feel like a north Shore Now, am I wrong?
- 1:32:49Speaker 8: Tell me I'm wrong?
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: Like right in the suite, Dorchester Southey, that's.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: The North Shores Boston and Rehab. Yeah, we're trying to
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: get rid of it.
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: It's I mean, shots fired at both of us at
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: this point, Like it's ridiculous Dorchester Southie.
- 1:33:08Speaker 6: Well, I don't know that because Gino I just thought
- 1:33:10Speaker 6: about the Dale I think is where he grew up.
- 1:33:12Speaker 8: Rossie. Yeah, I got ancestors from there.
- 1:33:15Speaker 6: But has a good investors to do there from Ireland?
- 1:33:18Speaker 6: You go, you don't even get me started. No, my
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: Irish ancestors set up shop and they're like twelve kids.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: But there's something harsh.
- 1:33:27Speaker 6: Though to me about the North Shore version of the Boss,
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: Like I know the south the one has that and
- 1:33:32Speaker 6: like it's almost familiar, like and I think there's so
- 1:33:35Speaker 6: many like whitey bulger things that like that's.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: You know, I think if you want to Shore, there's
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: not much.
- 1:33:41Speaker 10: Strong all the way up to Lowell.
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: That's all the way up to Lowell, that's strong.
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that's Merrimack Valley. That's not North Sture. Okay, But
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: like if you go to like if you work your
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: way up, I mean, if you're like in Everett, Revere,
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: that's not really North Shore to me. I mean it's
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: on Revere Beach is like Beverly, Yeah, and not getting
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: bost You might get something.
- 1:34:03Speaker 10: Cousins, but they have some thicks.
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: That's more of a blue collar town.
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: You'll get it.
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: Fisherman family, Marblehead, rock Port, Yes, newberry Port.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: You're not getting Boston accents.
- 1:34:14Speaker 5: Rich. That's the North Shore.
- 1:34:16Speaker 8: It's weird.
- 1:34:16Speaker 6: It's supposed to be a study, like because some people
- 1:34:18Speaker 6: like I grew up here, I have no accent.
- 1:34:20Speaker 8: I grew up in the suburbs.
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: But you know, I don't know, it's just it's it's
- 1:34:22Speaker 6: strange how it kind of works out.
- 1:34:24Speaker 9: I went to college and the friends I met from
- 1:34:26Speaker 9: Eastern mass that I had a New York accent, which
- 1:34:29Speaker 9: is really strange.
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: I don't know if it's approximate, but from the western
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: Mast thing you can go either.
- 1:34:34Speaker 5: That's like I just thought I didn't has New York
- 1:34:36Speaker 5: and Boston accents. It comes out a little bit when
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: you've had a few drinks.
- 1:34:40Speaker 8: Oh that's my Boston accent.
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: And then all of a sudden it's you know, there's
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: no yourself for me. No, you're just like say, you know,
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: it's everything's wicked, no time for ours.
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: A couple of drinks and yeah, you're like, no, fascinating.
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: So it's nothing like when Fred is no interest in
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: the topic.
- 1:35:02Speaker 10: Was impatiently waiting for anyway.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: Carrie writes in how adorable is Mike Reese? More of him? Please?
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: We just had Mike rees on, Thanks again for joining us.
- 1:35:11Speaker 8: The best, yes, the pro of all pros.
- 1:35:14Speaker 6: And you know, I just I said it before that
- 1:35:17Speaker 6: one of the things most remarkable to me is like,
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: as things have shifted over the last few years and
- 1:35:21Speaker 6: the team wasn't as good, he continued the same level
- 1:35:25Speaker 6: of output and analysis and investment, and as you just
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: saw him talking about he was down.
- 1:35:32Speaker 8: There at Rhode Island yesterday, you know, talking.
- 1:35:34Speaker 10: About I wasn't.
- 1:35:35Speaker 8: Yeah, does he didn't go yesterday?
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: Oh he was, Yeah, he sort of scurried out right
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: after we shot. Usually we you know, we have like
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: a half hour forty five minute debris. Yeah, after shoot
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: and you know we got we got about fifteen minutes
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: and he's like, it's a providence.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: Sorry, I got it.
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: Oh yeah, No. That's the best part of it is
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: that he always feels terrible for going to do something
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: more important than talking to you in that moment.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: Yeah, let's get back to the phone.
- 1:36:05Speaker 11: I knew it.
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: I was like, I'm wrapping up.
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: It's like I made him whatever, Todd. Todd's in North Carolina.
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: What's up, Todd?
- 1:36:14Speaker 12: Yeah, I want more micrees to that.
- 1:36:16Speaker 13: He's a he's a great interview for you guys.
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: That a little bit yep, good guys.
- 1:36:19Speaker 12: So I would like to do some way way too
- 1:36:22Speaker 12: early little predictions for the season. Let's go, guys up
- 1:36:28Speaker 12: for that.
- 1:36:28Speaker 13: Sure, Okay, let me start with number of games Drake
- 1:36:32Speaker 13: May plays.
- 1:36:34Speaker 8: Seven.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: I was going to say in his career just this year.
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: This year, I would say twelve.
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: Oh wow, I like that. It's a pig number.
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: Kobe, Yeah, I think seven eight is good for you guys.
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: I agree with you guys.
- 1:36:51Speaker 8: Right in the middle, okay, technically middle.
- 1:36:56Speaker 12: Which receiver will have the best yak.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: Pop Douglas oh, I feel like we're forgetting about pop.
- 1:37:04Speaker 5: Doug Douglas is probably a good one, and I'm going
- 1:37:07Speaker 5: to start I'm going to start reminding people that he exists.
- 1:37:10Speaker 8: Javon Baker.
- 1:37:13Speaker 12: Cool.
- 1:37:14Speaker 13: How many times?
- 1:37:15Speaker 12: Well, first of all, will Paul ever give you the nod?
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: This year?
- 1:37:18Speaker 12: And it's still how many times?
- 1:37:20Speaker 15: No?
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: No, no? Not free zone?
- 1:37:25Speaker 11: All right?
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: Thanks to it has been retired.
- 1:37:28Speaker 10: Is like a like a Tommy point.
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: That's when when no way, anyone's winning, no way.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: The Patriots went the other way in recent yeah, went
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: I never publicized the reverse nod.
- 1:37:42Speaker 5: There have been a lot of them. Might be time
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: to retire had at.
- 1:37:46Speaker 8: The nod and the shake. I got the shake this one.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: I used to be like four Patriots go up seven nothing,
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: look over the game? Games over.
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: I give Fred the knowing book.
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: Let's see. Jordan writes in subject line Evan, I'm worried
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: he's from Hawaii. I'm excited. What's to worry about in Hawaii?
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: West Volcano worried about me? I don't worry. Let's trade.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: Let's find out. I'm excited about all of the new
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: toys the Patriots got for their offense in the draft
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: and elsewhere. This year brings a lot of excitement, new energy,
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: I think to the team, But I also have a
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: big concern. AVP has already said that they're going to
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: be a running team. They will run the ball to
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: open up the play action down the field. Does that
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: mean they just need to move here and there or
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: they need big chunk runs because I'm worried that they
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: don't have the talent at running back to pick up
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: yards consistently. Andre had one good season. Other than that,
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: he's been plagued with injuries and not productive behind a
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: bad line. Just want to know if I'm alone here,
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: do you also have concerns with the old line or
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: running back room not being good enough to open up
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: those shots downfield?
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: Well yeah, everybody else, just shut your mics off, and
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: I would just say that to quell your your concerns.
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: There is absolutely no statistical connection to rushing success and
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: play action success. Could not agree more they those two
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: things do not correlate. That teams that run the ball
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: well also play action well. Now, teams that dress up
- 1:39:32Speaker 5: play action well play action well. You know if you
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: show teams blocking schemes that look like your runs and
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: you marry it together to your runs, or you use
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: little indicators or formations or personnel groupings that typically lend
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: themselves to your run plays. That's when you really get
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: on play action. That's why teams like the Niners and
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: the Rams and all these teams are so good at
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: it because everything looks the same. It's it's in the
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: first phase of the play you have you cannot tell
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: if it's a runner or pass, and then they just
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: hit you with the play action and then you're screwed.
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: Yeah, my concern would be about just the desire to
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: run the ball first and foremost.
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: That's my big concern, right because I don't want to
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: be a running team. I want to be in I know,
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: I want to be a two thousand, you know, twenty
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: four NFL offense.
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: Well, I think that what they're trying to do is
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: I just think that the concern that you have is
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: I guess maybe what the emailer is getting at is
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: they still I think lack high end talent on the
- 1:40:33Speaker 5: offensive side of the ball. Like, I'm excited about these
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: receivers as much as everybody, but I said the other
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: day on Twitter that, you know, the only miss to
- 1:40:41Speaker 5: me this offseason is Calvin Ridley and oh we don't
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: even need Ridley now. It's like you don't even know
- 1:40:46Speaker 5: if these guys can play, Like for all we know,
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: Jalen Polk and Javon Baker is Aaron Dobson and Josh Boyce, Like,
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: you know, how did that go? All right? I like, boys,
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: you know how did that go?
- 1:40:59Speaker 8: To me?
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: To me, there's two times in the modern NFL where
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: running games is successful. When you got a guy who's.
- 1:41:06Speaker 5: Just so good like your guy Derrick Henry.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Yeah, or when you're when you're passing game is so
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: good that teams just you know, have to give up
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: the run at times because they have to focus and otherwise.
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: Like I don't think, and you know, to whoever's point made,
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: I don't think there's anyone on this team right now
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: that's that good a runner that you know, you can
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: just run the ball and be successful.
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: They might be fine running the ball, but if you
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: can't throw it effectively traditionally, not just like mirrors like
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: Kevin just talked about, you're dressing it up. I think
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: that Alex van Pelt probably knows how to do that,
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: and they probably will hit some plays doing that this year.
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: I know, that's that's his offense. I mean when when
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: Cleveland was looking really good late in the year with
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: Joe Flacco, he was hitting chunk play to David Najoku
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: off of those hard play actions. With Flacco, he has
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: the big arm to get the ball there, and I
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: think I could see that with Drake May. I could
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: absolutely see big plays. But if you can't throw it
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: consistently traditionally, you're not going to be a high powered offense.
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree. If you're just running and trying to
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: set up play action, it's not going to be good enough. Well,
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: it's like you know with the forty nine ers, like
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: they run into this problem. It feels like every single year,
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: especially late in the playoffs, where eventually it comes it
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: becomes a traditional drop back game and it's Jimmy garoppolover'sus
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: Patrick Mahomes and the Super Bowl and who always wins,
- 1:42:35Speaker 5: you know, the better drop back passers. So I understand
- 1:42:38Speaker 5: that that's my concern. But you know, with the running thing,
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: I think you know the other way that you're good
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: running teams if your quarterback can run. Because now if
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: you're playing eleven on eleven and the quarterback's a factor
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: in all these rushing schemes. That's what Baltimore does, you know,
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: that's what Eagles do. Like now you're in a different
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: element of run. That's really the teams other than teams
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: like San Francisco or just are really talented offensively. The
- 1:43:02Speaker 5: teams that are really good running teams and nowadays are Baltimore, Philly,
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: you know, those types of teams.
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: Where the quarterback is part of the running game.
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: And San Francisco would be that example of a high
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: powered offense that does it that way absolutely well.
- 1:43:16Speaker 5: That makes a good plaint San Francisco is but they're
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: so loaded.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: They're so loaded, like if you there, they their offense
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: is a problem for the defense, like you don't know
- 1:43:25Speaker 3: where it's coming on any down because they have weapons
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: everywhere on the field. That's where every offense wants to be,
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: you know. That's that's the goal for every offense that
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: we can line up any way and do anything out
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: of any formation and it puts the defense on their heels.
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: But you need talent to do that. You know, it's
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: hard to do. There was a time when the Patriots
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: were kind of like that, you know, back in the day.
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: Oh god, yea offense like that.
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: You know, we were talking about late bloomers, you know,
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: people who started to go Yeah, the most interesting Pages
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: fan in the world. James Pettigrew says, wondering didn't take
- 1:44:04Speaker 3: a bit of time for Nate Soldier to come on.
- 1:44:07Speaker 6: Well, he sat behind Matt light right dah, and then
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: he got kind of thrust in as a right tackle initially.
- 1:44:12Speaker 5: Yeah, he's one of those guys that played some right tackle.
- 1:44:15Speaker 8: I wouldn't.
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: I mean, if you're talking about being really good, I'm
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: not sure he like I think he was kind of
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: an average tackle, so might you know, but he played
- 1:44:26Speaker 4: pretty quick.
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: Bruski I couldn't speak to this maybe you guys cause
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: but Bruskie seems like he was a guy.
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: Yeah. He he couldn't cover at first, and I remember
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: Parcels talking about it that we need to get him
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: in coverage.
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: The thing with him was it was such a dramatic
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: position change. You're going from a defensive tackle to a linebacker.
- 1:44:47Speaker 5: Yeah, he was an interior pass he makes that movie.
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: He had the n cua A sack record, you know, that's.
- 1:44:53Speaker 11: What he did.
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: And he was basically just a special teams player early
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: in his career and then he yeah, I remember, he.
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: Mike.
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: I don't know if you know, but I remember when
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: I talked to Teddy once he talked about he never
- 1:45:07Speaker 4: really felt like a true linebacker until he picked off
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: a pass against Detroit on Thanksgiving in two thousand and two.
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like a sixty year yeah wow.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it took him a while, but paid off progress.
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: What is it patience? Progress? Payoff or I don't pay
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: off the end?
- 1:45:26Speaker 10: Progress is in there somewhere.
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: This is your this is your slant progress.
- 1:45:33Speaker 10: There's no word art in.
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: My home, all right, Jonah says, And this one's kind
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: of a reach. I don't know if anyone remembers, but
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: Jamar Chase was dropping balls in his rookie preseason because
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: he claimed the NFL balls were bigger.
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: Yeah that lasted like maybe a week.
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: But that doesn't qualify as being a bus.
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: Or even people thinking he might be right.
- 1:45:55Speaker 11: Yeah right, but I do.
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: I actually do remember there being some talk about that
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: that him can play. We'll not complaining, but just saying
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: I have to get used to the I.
- 1:46:03Speaker 6: Always wonderful that no one ever talks about that, like
- 1:46:05Speaker 6: doing the quarterbacks, like it's all of a sudden, the
- 1:46:06Speaker 6: ball is bigger.
- 1:46:07Speaker 8: How much of a change.
- 1:46:08Speaker 6: It's longer, Yeah, tell me more about it, Paul, What
- 1:46:14Speaker 6: about it?
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: Duke is longer.
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: College ball was shorter and fatter, the girth of the ball.
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: All I could think about was Mike when I started
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: picking up.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: Plus it has the stripe on the tip in college.
- 1:46:27Speaker 6: And they started implanting micro chips in it, so you
- 1:46:31Speaker 6: know exactly where it goes and when and how fast.
- 1:46:33Speaker 8: And it's pretty impressive.
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: Can I say, I'm going to be laughing for the
- 1:46:36Speaker 6: rest of the foreseeable future thinking about them having Creighton
- 1:46:40Speaker 6: barrel whiney like those kind of signs up, like those
- 1:46:44Speaker 6: like oh I.
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: Hate when you know, like I don't want to. I
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: don't want to those in their houses I just can't stand.
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: Or like college girls in their dorm room. Hang in there, Kitty,
- 1:46:56Speaker 3: the little kiddy hanging on the branch.
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: There's a good how many college.
- 1:47:03Speaker 8: Hang in there? What does that mean?
- 1:47:05Speaker 11: I have to say.
- 1:47:08Speaker 15: Him?
- 1:47:09Speaker 6: I was gonna say something sitting on the sitting on
- 1:47:12Speaker 6: the bump bed with his feet hanging off.
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: Never hung out in the all girls dorms in college.
- 1:47:18Speaker 8: He went to be you was like fights out there everybody.
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: They were just kind of Tampa. We had. There were
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: a couple of all girls and then all boys, and
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: then everything else was.
- 1:47:27Speaker 8: Holy crossed the girls holy Cross.
- 1:47:30Speaker 6: The girls scores were locked and so you used to
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: have to like I was gonna say, then, the poor
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: two girls who like had the dorm closest to the
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: door had to always come and like the boyfriend.
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: And I was gonna say, holy Cross. Right, you're not
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: allowed to like stay anywhere I was there. I'm only kidding.
- 1:47:49Speaker 5: I think that's Notre Dame though, that is like that. Yeah,
- 1:47:52Speaker 5: Notre Dame is like you are not allowed to have
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: female or male visitors to be by you.
- 1:47:58Speaker 8: Yeah, differences definitely the drink there.
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: Yeah, they didn't have any of those rules that.
- 1:48:04Speaker 11: No.
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: I can attest a couple of prescriptions later.
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: No, okay, uh, Jeff in Canada, I gave the draft
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: process an a. I say the process because that's all
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: weak and great right now, we can't great players who've
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: never played a snap in the league. But at the
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: end of the day, every football fan knew their needs
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: and they took swings at all of those positions. I
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: didn't hear your positions yet, your opinions yet unless it
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: was in the first half of the show. On the
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: tight end for fsu Bell, I've heard he could be
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: a steal, but he's a seventh rounder, so who knows well,
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: both Mike Reese and Evan.
- 1:48:44Speaker 8: Concur you just see me.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that the the process I think is,
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: I think you're only looking at the positions that they.
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: Picked as opposed to how they did it.
- 1:48:55Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: Like, I think there's some questions as to how they.
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: Did me too, And that's why I couldn't say, like, oh,
- 1:49:00Speaker 6: you know, if you had to do the stupid thing
- 1:49:02Speaker 6: and give a grade. I mean, I think the only
- 1:49:03Speaker 6: thing you're really great is how well did you hit
- 1:49:04Speaker 6: the needs? And I think they did hit the needs.
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: But I you know, I think it probably could have
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: been a little bit better with the left tackle need.
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: And I think they could have moved a little bit
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: or changed the order slightly and maybe better maximize the Yeah.
- 1:49:19Speaker 6: If they but if they've gone like cornerback, you know,
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: guard safety, I mean, that's an.
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: Af you know who I would I'd like to ask
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: Elliott to ask his father who he thinks was the
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: best draft day negotiator over the phone that he's ever dealt.
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: With in terms of picks.
- 1:49:37Speaker 8: Yeah, ask your daddy.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: I'll bet you that there's people out there that are
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: better than others. Like you get him on the phone,
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: you just couldn't say no, he was he was the best,
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: you know, so fast, you know, before you knew it,
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: you've given up a first round pick. Yeah.
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that in terms of you know, you
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: talk people that you know, we've been talking to now
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: after the draft and things like that, a lot of
- 1:49:58Speaker 5: people will say that the league had Jalen Polk higher
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: than the media did. And now this type of stuff
- 1:50:05Speaker 5: comes out every year a player gets slightly over drafted
- 1:50:08Speaker 5: and all of a sudden there's this media campaign about
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: how the league was higher on him than than the
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: media was. But that was one of them that I
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: felt like that. And with Jaheane Bell, I was just
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: talking to Jim Nagy, the Senior Bowl director for all
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: of our profiles on these guys, and he said point
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: blank that Jahan Bell is going to make a fifty
- 1:50:26Speaker 5: three man roster.
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: Yes, of course he was any But.
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: I have to I have to agree with him though,
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: And I agree with what Mike Rees said to us
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: earlier to a t there's a clear role in path
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: for him to make the roster. It's not like we're
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: talking about him beating out, you know, a bunch of
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: receivers or something like that out of nowhere. But there's
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: a clear role projection for him as this move explosive
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: tight end when they have some veteran guys that aren't
- 1:50:59Speaker 5: exactly in.
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: And that's why I always get into like I don't
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: really necessarily care, like a lot of people will do
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: the evaluation, Well, that's a great draft. They drafted eight
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: guys and all eight of them made the roster. The
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: Pete Carroll Patriots were famous with this with Bobby Greer.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: Do you remember how many linemen they used to draft
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: that couldn't that couldn't play at all, Fred Damien Denson,
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: Scott Rayberg's got ray but they all made the roster
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: every year.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: What are draft? Scott? What a draft?
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: These guys couldn't play a monster.
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: He was like sixth eight and back in the day
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: on the plane they had the TVs that would hang
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: from the ceiling. Every trip he'd hit his head. It's like,
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: don't you learn after the first time that you have
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: to do every trip? He'd hit his that on that.
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: Side, but they would have like their fifth, sixth, seventh
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: round picks, they would make the team, and everybody'd be like,
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: what a great draft. You know, great drafts with like
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: Chris Canty and Brandon Mitchell, you know at the top
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: of the.
- 1:51:51Speaker 11: Like great draft.
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: These guys can't play just because So if if Jahem
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: Bell got drafted by a team that had really good
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: tight end depth and he didn't make the team, it's
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: not any better or worse pick than it is. As
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: Evan said, if he has more of an opportunity to
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: actually make the team here, can he play, Like we'll
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: find that out.
- 1:52:08Speaker 5: He could play in Florida State. It's going to translate.
- 1:52:11Speaker 4: But it's funny because we did. We had that was
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: one of our questions, like the draft pick that you
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: liked the best, and we both thought we both wanted
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: to say, Belle, you know, after this is after not
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: including Drake May. Yeah, it's kind of like best Patriot
- 1:52:24Speaker 4: of all time, you know, non Tom Brady, non Tom
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: Brady category. We wanted to have our listen, you can
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: keep trying.
- 1:52:33Speaker 5: I actually have something to say about Joe. I have
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: something to say about Joe Milton.
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: Too, but we both we both wanted Belle, and I said,
- 1:52:40Speaker 4: you talk about Belle, and I ended up taking Baker
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: just as as my pick because I didn't. I didn't lie,
- 1:52:46Speaker 4: but I did. I do like Baker as a pick,
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: but I like it. I like the athleticism of the
- 1:52:53Speaker 4: tight end. You know, I do think there's a chance
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: they take advantage and.
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: Scrap, I'm not gonna lie. Scrap was like he made me.
- 1:53:00Speaker 11: He got a dog.
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: He can run the scene like there's no doubt about that.
- 1:53:05Speaker 5: And he can catch the ball. He can catch and
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: run with it. And if you look at what Drake
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: made does well in terms of throwing the middle of
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: the field. If you have a four to six tight
- 1:53:13Speaker 5: end that can split the seam, you know, this is
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: one of those guys that can do that. And Drake
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: make and throw that past.
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: All day, four six tight end, bigger guy than that might.
- 1:53:22Speaker 5: But the thing I was going to tell you about
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: about Joe Millton our favorite six round pick, is that
- 1:53:27Speaker 5: uh Naggy again mentioned that down at the Senior Bowl,
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: they have an award that they give out every year
- 1:53:33Speaker 5: for everybody's favorite guy at the Senior Bowl. It's the
- 1:53:38Speaker 5: good guy Award of the Senior Bowl, and it just
- 1:53:41Speaker 5: so happened that the good guy of the twenty twenty
- 1:53:43Speaker 5: four Senior Bowl was won Joe Milton.
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: So I had somebody in my office yesterday who not
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: from the South, but who sometimes likes to talk with
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: an acid. Now, now he had a pretty good year
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: kindnesse last year. You know.
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: Okay, Now we didn't the just on the Milton thing,
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: and I know that you guys don't like busting on,
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: which is fine that I deserve it. This is not
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: about what I think of Joe Milton, as much as
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: would ensue after that, Like I don't we Fred and
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: I have disagreed on our evaluations of different elements and
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: players for twenty plus years. This is not about that
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: he didn't agree with my viewpoints on Joe Milton. I'll
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: just drop it there and leave it.
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: We both agree on a lot of things, and we
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: both disagree on a lot of things.
- 1:54:33Speaker 6: Since the show's running out and it'll cut off, and like,
- 1:54:36Speaker 6: the question in my mind though with Milton is just like,
- 1:54:38Speaker 6: what's the best case scenario.
- 1:54:40Speaker 8: For the Patriots with him?
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: What is the best I I told you in the
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: last show that it's obvious to him that he can't
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: play quarterback.
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: That's the best case.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: They have a conversation with him, why don't you give
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: something else to try, like tight end, and then that's it.
- 1:54:54Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: I feel like the best case scenario for the Patriots
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: is that if he needs to be Kirk Cousins, and
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: he's Kirk, he puts it all together, it'd be the
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: best case.
- 1:55:02Speaker 6: YEA, not a great case scenario because that means Drake
- 1:55:05Speaker 6: may got hurt though, right, but that's.
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: The whole idea of the insurance policy.
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: But even if he just develops no, no, and that's
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: where my head and all of a sudden, you look like,
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: this guy's a much better pro quarterback than he was
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: in college.
- 1:55:15Speaker 8: Let's let's flip them.
- 1:55:16Speaker 5: After being in college for so long that the Mike
- 1:55:18Speaker 5: quarterbacks Mike was his college teammate, Yeah, Mike on when
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: he was going into your five in the NFL, if
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: they played together.
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: If you're a Joe Milton fan, a real fan, yeah, Joshua,
- 1:55:31Speaker 3: you should be. You should be rooting for Jacoby Brissette
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: to get hurt.
- 1:55:35Speaker 8: Yeah, hurt?
- 1:55:38Speaker 11: Why?
- 1:55:40Speaker 3: I think acause right now I am rooting for people
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: to get hurt because well, no, but Joe Milton, he's
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: buried in the depth chart. He's not even the he's
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: not the backup. He's not the backup.
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: He's not now, he's not even three.
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: He may not even see time in preseason.
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: Oh he will?
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: What else? What else? You have two quarterbacks they need
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: to get ready before him.
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: Jacoby does need to get ready. He just played in
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: this offense two years ago.
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: They need to see what they've got.
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: And I don't think you're going to see a tremendous
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: amount of Jocoby what.
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: No, Joe Milton is the fourth quarter of preseasons. Joe
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: Milton's time to shine, baby, that's his time.
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: Yeah. I could be wrong, but I feel like everybody
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: in this offense, it's starting from square.
- 1:56:19Speaker 4: I think he'll play, but I don't think he's going
- 1:56:21Speaker 4: to play a ton.
- 1:56:21Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:56:22Speaker 8: Oh, I got a great idea.
- 1:56:23Speaker 6: You know, maybe we could get Joe Milton to throw
- 1:56:26Speaker 6: Patriots on Filter T shirts to people at training. Kid,
- 1:56:28Speaker 6: you know, like up on that, like you know when
- 1:56:30Speaker 6: there it go. You know, we don't need to get
- 1:56:32Speaker 6: that thousand dollars T shirt. Cannona been looking forward to
- 1:56:34Speaker 6: Joe Milton. Give him some oranges, give him.
- 1:56:36Speaker 8: Some some T shirts.
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: And I was watching his tape the other day. The
- 1:56:43Speaker 5: power in his arm is it's truly power.
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: Sleep better than Drake Man.
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: Like not even just in terms of it's not just
- 1:56:52Speaker 5: that he throws the deep ball.
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: It's already started.
- 1:56:54Speaker 5: It's not even just that he throws the deep ball
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: far though, Like that's one thing, Like, Okay, you know,
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: he Arcus Russell to.
- 1:57:02Speaker 8: A frozen rope.
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: Now it might be ten yards over the guy's head,
- 1:57:07Speaker 5: but it was hard. And I think that that's the
- 1:57:09Speaker 5: one thing that just with both these guys. For so long,
- 1:57:12Speaker 5: in the last five years or so, the Patriots have
- 1:57:14Speaker 5: been in this situation with quarterback where they couldn't access
- 1:57:17Speaker 5: all the parts of the field because the quarterback just
- 1:57:20Speaker 5: didn't have the arm for it. So basically like everything
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: outside the numbers and the deep middle of the field
- 1:57:24Speaker 5: were just like off limits, Like we're not even gonna three,
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: We're not even gonna draw plays for these areas of
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: the field. Now they have two guys that, like you
- 1:57:31Speaker 5: just have to hope they keep it on the field,
- 1:57:33Speaker 5: you know, Like they have such arm talent that now
- 1:57:35Speaker 5: all of a sudden, every blade of grass is accessible.
- 1:57:39Speaker 6: That's what I'm interested in, just because people excited.
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: That's what gets me excited about it. Is like you
- 1:57:44Speaker 5: can really see that, you know, Drake May, Joe Millon, whoever,
- 1:57:47Speaker 5: those guys, you know, there's no longer oh, we can
- 1:57:50Speaker 5: just fall asleep on this play defensively because you know
- 1:57:52Speaker 5: he's rolling to his right and there's no way he's
- 1:57:54Speaker 5: gonna flick it back to No, these guys can flick
- 1:57:56Speaker 5: it back to the left like they they can go
- 1:57:59Speaker 5: forty yards in the op is a direction just five.
- 1:58:01Speaker 8: That's that's what I'm interested in.
- 1:58:02Speaker 6: Is I have a sense of Bailey Zappy already having
- 1:58:04Speaker 6: watched him, and so just to see the comparison between
- 1:58:07Speaker 6: what we've seen in his arm, which is admittedly, you know,
- 1:58:10Speaker 6: fairly average to below average, but you know, is it
- 1:58:12Speaker 6: that noticeable right from the get go, Drake Man.
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: And by the way, you gotta move Bailey Zappy right,
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: he can't be on the roster probably.
- 1:58:21Speaker 5: Final roster, probably Yeah, Yeah, I mean I think he
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: might have like a teen c weensy bit of value.
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: You think he's got a market in August, like if
- 1:58:28Speaker 5: some quarterback gets hurt and they need a backup.
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: If and if that's the case, then Joe Milton's even
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: further down the depth Shart.
- 1:58:35Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, wait till you see this arm though, Fred.
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: Okay, I believe the arm. I believe the arm. A
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: head is the other thing I've heard jack In and
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: Arbor talking about late bloomers. Rob Ninkovich late bloomer.
- 1:58:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I think that's a good I mean,
- 1:58:51Speaker 6: that's gonna be draft Yeah, but yeah, we didn't draft them.
- 1:58:53Speaker 8: That's why he probably didn't.
- 1:58:54Speaker 6: But I mean a guy that came here as a
- 1:58:56Speaker 6: long snapper in like the second or third week of August.
- 1:58:58Speaker 6: You know, I like rabel Now he was, he was,
- 1:59:02Speaker 6: he was scratching the surface with it.
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: Really good player for Pittsburgh, became a really good player
- 1:59:07Speaker 4: in New England.
- 1:59:08Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 1:59:10Speaker 4: Second round, but I mean I believe it was the
- 1:59:11Speaker 4: second round pick out of Ohio State.
- 1:59:13Speaker 6: Like that's but Ninkovich is story one of my favorites
- 1:59:15Speaker 6: of you know, especially because that time it was, you know,
- 1:59:18Speaker 6: this was the defensive turnover. I mean, Ninkovitch was that
- 1:59:21Speaker 6: diamond in the rough that they were able to uncover
- 1:59:23Speaker 6: that you know, made them able to overcome the losses
- 1:59:27Speaker 6: of you know, the Seymour's and you know and McGuinness
- 1:59:30Speaker 6: and the very bad.
- 1:59:30Speaker 4: I'm thinking more of players the Patriots trapp.
- 1:59:33Speaker 6: Yeah, and then you kind of wrote too much hung
- 1:59:35Speaker 6: around I mean Edelman to some extent, but I think
- 1:59:37Speaker 6: he could be one of those I.
- 1:59:39Speaker 10: Was going to say him, but I feel like in
- 1:59:40Speaker 10: order to be a bus you have to be like hyped.
- 1:59:42Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that's probably yeah, too hard to say. The
- 1:59:45Speaker 4: seventh round pick, right, the.
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: Guy that had expectations, he was happy to be there,
- 1:59:50Speaker 3: then came back and yeah, it's hard to come up
- 1:59:53Speaker 3: with those guys. All right, that's going to be it
- 1:59:56Speaker 3: for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. I hope everyone has
- 1:59:59Speaker 3: a good weekend. I think we've talked about everything we

- 2:00:04Speaker 5: But did you talk about Joey Sly No, Well, a
- 2:00:07Speaker 5: little bit kicker, he kicks the ball.
