- 0:18[SPEAKER_06]: What's up, Browns fans?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_06]: Welcome back to another episode of the Dog's Podcast week one in the books for the Cleaver Browns and excruciating loss to the Cincinnati Bangalore 17 to 16.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_06]: In week one at home, just absolutely brutal.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_06]: What more do you expect out of your Cleveland Browns and to find ways to lose snatch victory or defeat from the jaws of victory?
- 0:42[SPEAKER_06]: Just an unbelievable way to lose a game here in week one.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_06]: So we're going to go through everything, talk you guys through it.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_06]: I know there's a lot of people out there, probably sad and depressed, just like we are.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_06]: So we're all here for each other to get through this.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously, no Justin here tonight, he was at the game.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_06]: So tough to get back from Cleveland and get settled in.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_06]: jump on and do a podcast without getting divorced.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_06]: So we're giving Justin a free pass tonight.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_06]: He'll be with us on the Sunday night.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_06]: So it's probably on the away games.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously he doesn't go to those.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_06]: Just a tough game before we get into everything, though.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_06]: Remember if you want to get thoughts and intros, voice meals on the show, head to thedogspodcast.com, tap lead voice meal on the dropdown menu.

- 1:52[SPEAKER_06]: You're going to need other browns feans to come misery with throughout the week in on-game days.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_06]: So you want to head to the dog pack, get access to that private discord, and just meet a bunch of browns feans from all over the world to kind of hang out with and come misery with.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_06]: So again, that's join thedogs.com and become an official dog pack member.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_06]: Well, Josh, tough game.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, say the least to say the least.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_06]: It, and here's what's so disappointing about this loss is even though the Browns weren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination in some regards, there was a lot of positives in this game.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_06]: Like if if we pull out this win, we're jumping on this live show going, man, look at this, look at this, look at this.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_06]: You know, and we're not sitting here saying playoffs here,
- 2:38[SPEAKER_06]: That's a weak one.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_06]: That's a weak one.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_06]: When there's some bright spots that, you know, maybe there's a future to this team.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_06]: And we could still talk about those things for God.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_06]: It's a lot easier to talk about those things when you got a W in the wind column and then trying to take moral victories out of it.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_06]: Because I mean NFL.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_06]: Not a lot of moral victories.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_06]: This isn't a high school.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_06]: It's a what if you done for me lately.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_06]: You get to win or you get fired kind of of business.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_06]: So you got to pull off wins whenever they're out there.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: You can't just give wins away, especially at home, um, two divisional opponents, too.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_06]: To to to yes, can't just in again, that bright spots, but also some very concerning things that we need to get into.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_06]: So I didn't know if you wanted to drop us a couple thoughts or if we wouldn't get to this voice meal first and kind of go from there.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to let the other Josh, Josh, the social worker go ahead and kick us off with this one.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_05]: A dog nation, social worker Josh here, over on the West Coast, quick question for you on, what the hell are we doing with our kicker situation?
- 3:39[SPEAKER_05]: I know we released Topkin, and I think for good reason, but the replacement doesn't seem to be enough.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_05]: Are these that with enough?
- 3:48[SPEAKER_05]: It was for them, our offense wasn't enough.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_05]: Joe Flacco was enough.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_05]: Our kicker,
- 3:54[SPEAKER_05]: What's going to happen now?
- 3:55[SPEAKER_05]: What did you guys have been talking about this?
- 3:57[SPEAKER_05]: We don't want to go into this season and lose games by one point.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_05]: Or if I two points because we can't hit an extra point or a field goal.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's what we did.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_05]: What are we doing for a kicker guys?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's a good place to start because honestly, that was the difference on the scoreboard was the kicking.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_06]: And in I, somebody actually said I jinxed us because I said I didn't want to lose by one because we're missing kicks on the preview episode.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_06]: Here's the, here's the deal.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_06]: The margin of victory in the NFL's average win is basically three points.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_06]: It's basically a field.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_06]: Well, you can't continuously miss extra points and field goals.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_06]: It was bad enough that he misses the extra point.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_06]: So now we're not tied.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_06]: Now we're like in a, you have to score or it's over kind of scenario.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_06]: Um, and then
- 4:45[SPEAKER_06]: to come out and we the defense is everything right to pin them back almost get the safety put them at the one make them put out of their own end zone.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_06]: We got a good return on the punt.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_06]: We're setting up at what the 40 yard line with a chance to go in and it's like
- 5:03[SPEAKER_06]: You can't capitalize off a chip shot for your goal to go up by two.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_06]: I feel so confident that if we make that feel go we win the game because the defense was light out in the second half.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_06]: Just an unbelievable way to lose a game and I don't understand how we can't figure this position out.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_06]: And I know there's a little bit of a
- 5:26[SPEAKER_06]: It's not just the Cleveland Browns.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_06]: I watched us lose this way and then the broadcast went to that Falcon's game.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_06]: It immediately saw, I think it was the Buccaneers ticker missed an extra point and then the Falcon's kicker missed a field going pretty sure, like a minute later.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_06]: It's not just the Cleveland Browns.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what's going on with kicking in the NFL, but it seems like for at least for us, we haven't had a consistently good kicker since Phil Dawson.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_06]: And I might even
- 5:54[SPEAKER_06]: never misses.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not asking for prime Justin Tucker here, but we haven't even had a kicker that is we motely reliable.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_06]: It's it's at the point now where
- 6:05[SPEAKER_06]: basically on our plus side of the 50 it's four down territory.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_06]: I would almost never attempt to feel well because they're just we're not making them with any kind of regularity and it doesn't matter if it's at home or away.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_06]: You can say Cleveland's a tough case, place to kick.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_06]: We miss as many on the road in domes as we do at home.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_06]: It's I don't understand what I don't understand what the issue is.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_06]: I don't get it.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_06]: It's
- 6:27[SPEAKER_06]: It's unbelievable.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_06]: How can we not find a kicker?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_06]: Like finding a quarterback that guy who gets the ball all, you know, every play.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_06]: It's the toughest position playing sports.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_06]: The fact that we can't get that is also infuriating, but a kicker.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, one job.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_06]: You can't go out in this whole world.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_06]: This entire universe and find a guy who's one job is to kick him.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_06]: He's good at it.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_06]: I'm watching kids on college game day.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_02]: dude and it was a 36 yarder like you said chip shot and we were talking about this before we started the live show here as soon as he went to make the kick like his approach in that like split second when he comes up to the ball to make the kick I was sitting there on my couch going he's gonna miss this like he looked
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: out of whack.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: He, he looking on confident on sure of himself.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: He looks scared to be out there in that position.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like, dude, if you're going to be scared to try to make a chipshot feel goal to put your team up with what, like, four minutes to go or something, no lesson that a little over two minutes to go.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, like you can't be on this team.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: You can't be in the NFL.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, we, you and me were texting today because after he missed the PAT, I say, caught him like we got to get a new kicker now.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: You're like, I'll come on.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: You can't cut him after just one miss kick.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: Then you went out and missed the field going, you're like, okay, we can cut him now.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that's like, okay, that's two now.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you gotta go.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_06]: We can't cost again.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_06]: You can't cost games, at least not without having established like any kind of good grace with the team.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_06]: You know, like, if, you know, if Phil Dawson missed a game winning field goal for the Browns, you were like, man, that sucks.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_06]: We're mad, but he's done a lot more good for us than bad for us.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_06]: This guy's about to pass.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_06]: right in Hillbounds back I have no faith that this is going to next week going to make kicks and then that plays into your coaching into your play calling because you call the game different you manage the game different because you can't you don't have a kicker that you can rely on to make kicks it's just
- 8:29[SPEAKER_06]: We talked about it.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_06]: This is part of the reason why the offense was so bad last year is you can't work getting into the red zone and coming up empty multiple times in a game because we can't make any feel goals and it's just he wasn't the soul.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not going to say he's 100% of the reason we lost but he's like 98% of the reason we lost.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many mistakes that get made in a NFL game that you can point in blame.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: You can take the blame chunk and that pie and spread it out as many different ways as you want to.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: But at the end of the day, the scoreboard is what dictates who wins and who loses and he cost us everything we needed on the scoreboard to come out of this with a win.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm with you.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: The largest blame got to be on him.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: This is ridiculous.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_06]: Another huge issue in somebody I actually already brought it up in the chat.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_06]: So we must be on the same page here as we talked about this in the preview, like hopefully this offensive line struggle last year in the run game because of scheme and stuff.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_06]: I have this great fear that this offensive line is not a good run blocking team anymore.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_06]: I thought we passed block pretty well today, but
- 9:37[SPEAKER_06]: that we cannot open a whole.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_06]: There's almost no run game.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_06]: Dylan Samson's a good running back.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_06]: We saw that today.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_06]: If you didn't give this guy with any kind of space, he doesn't need much.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_06]: He's breaking tackles running through arm tackles, making guys miss.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_06]: But it's hard to get anything going on the ground when as soon as you get the ball, there's just 10 guys in your face.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_06]: And if you can't run the ball, this is just like last year, people would be like, how could we have 600 yards of offense and only score 12 points, which is because once the field shrinks,
- 10:08[SPEAKER_06]: You get into the, you know, the red zone.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_06]: If you don't have any kind of running game, your passing game gets very difficult when there's not a ton of space to operate, and so then you end up settling for three because you can't run the ball, and then three turns into zero real quick because you can't make any field goals.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_06]: It's bad.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_06]: I watched this game and I went, it's gonna be a long, we're not, we're the same offense, we were, um,
- 10:33[SPEAKER_06]: at least point-wise, this can be just like last year.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_06]: It's, I have no faith that we're going to be able to score more than 14 to 17 points a game until we can figure out a way to run the ball, and we can make kicks, and to the people who are saying, well, we'll have Quintshot Judd Kins, that'll help the running game, it's not going to hurt the game, but no, I don't care who you are.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_06]: Prime Adrian Peterson can't run the ball if there's no holes to run the ball through.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_06]: And this is going to be, it's going to be a long, long season.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to be like today.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to put up 350, 400 yards of offense, have 26 first downs.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_06]: If you count third down and fourth down conversions, I think we are 10 of 19 on like those money downs on third and fourth down.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_06]: That's a good, that's a good percentage.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_06]: And we scored 14 points, right?
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: 16 points, 16.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_06]: Um, you just, if you can't run the ball, you can't be one dimensional, especially as you get into the red zone.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_06]: There's not enough room to operate.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_06]: Another issue is the offense is efficient, but until we get some explosive plays, we're not going to score may points either.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_06]: You can't.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_06]: You can't think you're going to go 12, 13, 14, 15 plays every single time you have the ball.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_06]: It's just not realistic to do that.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_06]: You have to be able to get some chunk plays.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_06]: And even though I thought Tillman looked good, Judy had a drop, but he looked at, okay, Fanon was great, and Joke, who was great, Samson's great, they all flashed.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_06]: But until we have somebody who is a threat to go deep, a threat with the ball in his hands to just make a play and take it 80 yards to the house, and we can hit the occasional 25, 30 yard play, it's going to be tough to score points.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_06]: You can't go 12, 13 plays every single drive.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_06]: It's not going to happen.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_06]: This is the NFL.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_06]: It's too hard to do that.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_06]: You have to be able to get chunked plays, and I just don't see us having any offensive weapons to be able to do that.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_06]: We're not slow, but there's just no, like, top end elite level speed athletes out there on the edges that really threaten a defense vertically.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: No, not at all.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's there's nothing like that.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, the differs between this, the offense this year in last year obviously that the quarterback play where we're getting the competent quarterback play, you know, Joe Flack who goes out there, I felt confident in him today.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: He knew what he was doing and what I loved about what Joe Flack of did today is we did not have a run game like you've been saying and he was able to shoulder the load.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: throw the ball, you know, 45 times move, you know, move the ball down the field, pick up some third downs and he didn't throw any like bad passes like we saw back in 2023 where he was just thrown it into, you know, triple coverage and getting intercepted like Joe Flacco through no interceptions that he did a very good job.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: He took great care of the football and still came away with two picks in the box score because our receivers,
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: let the ball hit their hands flip it up in the air and defenders catch it and it's a pic and it's that is so frustrating because we talked about it the other night before the game we cannot have turnovers we can't lead the league in turn over here we are with two of them that shouldn't have been they should they should have either been caught or incomplete and they turn into pics like only the browns can do that turn freaking stuff like that in the pics it's frustrating too because
- 13:51[SPEAKER_06]: The second one maybe a little bit more in the first you could put on the receiver, but I thought, especially the first one with Judy, that would have been a very tough catch, and Joe wasn't able to deliver like the best ball because he was under pressure.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_06]: That's just kind of like a a flute play where the ball would be in complete.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_06]: In complete and we have two of them go against our way that day.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_06]: It's not like either one of them were like the guy missed it and went off his face mask.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_06]: Like they both would have been like nice hands catches, Judy's he was kind of
- 14:19[SPEAKER_06]: It just sucks that they both went against you, but again, you shouldn't have been in that situation where like Joe shouldn't have had to have been driving with two minutes to go to get the win to win the game because we should be able to run the ball.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_06]: We should be able to make field goals and PATs like it's just, it's just scary things.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, easy things that, you know, they talk about the fundamentals and we learn the stuff clear back in freaking P we football.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like the Browns don't have those basic fundamentals of football, and that's this why this crap happens all the time.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: And we're sitting here week one again, just disappointed with this team because, man, we should be one and no, we should really be one and no right now.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_06]: It really sucks too because you had a chance to steal one here at home in the game in which you played well enough to win and now you hit the goblet.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, now it is, it gets real tough real quick here for the Cleveland Browns.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_06]: Now you got there at the Ravens.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if you saw the Packers, but they pretty much dominated the Lions today, and then you got the Lions.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_06]: And then you got the Vikings, the Steelers with Aaron Rogers.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_06]: If he plays like that all year, they're going to be, they might finally have an offense.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_06]: Um, the Browns might not be looking at a win until they play the Dolphins.
- 15:32[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 15:33[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_06]: You know, I mean, it's, yeah.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_06]: And I just, I don't, it's going to be wins and loss-wise.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_06]: It's going to be a long season.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_06]: I, because here's the thing is, is,
- 15:46[SPEAKER_06]: is optimistic as I was about some of the things today.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_06]: You have to understand that we couldn't run the ball against the Bengals.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's the Bengals I wanted to make.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_06]: The Bengals are going to get trounced on the defensive and most of the games they play this year.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_06]: Unless, unless this is like one of those things where they go from worst to first, you know, because they got a new defensive coordinator.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_06]: It's too early to tell, but they are not supposed to be that good defensively.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_06]: And I
- 16:16[SPEAKER_06]: It's just that that's the weakness of their team.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_06]: The weakness of their team is their defense.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_06]: And we, we couldn't run the ball against them.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_06]: Just, yes, that that's not what you're going to be able to run the ball against Baltimore.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: Good luck.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: No, absolutely not.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we ran the ball.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: uh... well if you take out geoflacos well i mean take out his scrambles it was what twenty two carries for forty three yards i think it was one point eight one point nine a carry like it was so bad and for the three germ four supporters that still exist online because they are out there i see them they attacked me a lot of times when i'm talking crap about four six carries for eight yards i know the offensive line is bad
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: But it doesn't matter when it's Jerome Ford out there, like he's going to run right into somebody's behind every time if you give him the chance.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: And this, this, he's got to run through Dylan Samson and Quenchon when he gets here.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, Jerome Ford might have lost his job today.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_06]: I hope so.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_06]: Like cut because you could tell they were, it became the Dylan Samson show and for good reason, every time Jerome Ford touched the ball, it was negative.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_06]: it's negative.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_06]: He can not break a tackle and he has no vision.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_06]: It's just you there was a clear difference between the two running backs whenever they touched the ball and I thought it was funny that on the drone forward run we tried to get him attached down early and he had a crease and it would have been tough.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_06]: You had to put his shoulder down, run through a couple of arm tackles to get in, doesn't can't do it.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_06]: Very next play we put in an undrapted free agent that we just picked up a week ago and he's able to do it and it's just like,
- 17:55[SPEAKER_06]: I don't, I don't know.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think he has, if you drew on this team, I'm excited to see what Quintion Judd can do.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_06]: But, um, R and here says, why the doom and gloom played pretty well and could have won Cleveland fans or mental.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_06]: We played pretty well in law.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_06]: It's a, it's a 17 game season.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_06]: Every game matters.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_06]: You can't, you can't give games away, especially when you're not going to be very good.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_06]: We played well enough and could have won, but we didn't.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_06]: So we lost and then too,
- 18:24[SPEAKER_06]: How many games do you want to see if we're going to win?
- 18:26[SPEAKER_06]: If you're looking, if you look deeper than just the score, the fact that you can't run the ball against the bankals.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_06]: The fact that you're already negative two in the turn over ratio for the season, the fact that you missed two kicks again in the first game of the season.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_06]: There are some major red flags in this game that do not
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not even kidding and we haven't seen the Vikings yet.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: They're the game in London after that and they play tomorrow night So we'll get a good look at there.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they're defense the first look here in 2025, but the the run game is such a major concern because it's been a major weakness the last two seasons now 2023 Couldn't run the ball after Nick Chub got hurt early in the season.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: That was it like the run game suffered and then last year was
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: one we didn't try to run the ball too when we did it was bad and it just looks like it carried over and we talked so much you've already mentioned it but like all offseason it's kind of everything's going to hinge on this offensive line you know it was last year bad year was that the scheme we get back to Kevin's offense he's guys are excited they're ready to be physical again like you said they got bullied man in the run game there's no push there's nothing there it's like you guys are way too old Jack Conquins already out like
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: We have really dropped the ball on the offensive line as far as team building personnel wise like Zach Zintoy.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_06]: We wasted them
- 19:54[SPEAKER_06]: we wasted a great offensive line.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_06]: Although I'm going to say this and Kenny Mack actually said it here in the comments he said Nick Chub hit a lot of hate a lot of deficiencies.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_06]: It's it's yet to be determined if this offensive line ever was great.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_06]: Or if Nick Chub made an okay offensive line look great.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_06]: Because since he left, it gone completely downhill.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: And to be fair, whenever he was here doing really well, these guys were two, three years younger than they are now.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, I do think that they were obviously a lot better than they are now.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: They are old.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're slow.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: They're obviously not as strong.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: They suck.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I hate this.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's one game.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to like overreact.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: But I just think this offensive lines sucks.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: I really do as far as in the run game.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're good.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_06]: No, I thought we passed by pretty well today.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_06]: Also, it helps like Joe Flacker gets rid of the ball.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_06]: He knows where he's going with it.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_06]: He has good pocket presence.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_06]: But there were a lot of positives.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_06]: And I want to get to some of these positives.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_06]: Do we need to take a quick commercial break before we get to the positives?
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's do that real quick and then we'll be right back.

- 22:32[SPEAKER_06]: All right, so we obviously have harked on a lot of the bad now, but there was some positives to this game.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if they'll matter in terms of wins and losses for this year, but I feel pretty good about the young core of this team moving into the future.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_06]: I think there's a couple guys we got you got to talk about obviously Dylan Samson looked incredible He might we might not have been able to open up any holes in the run game form But in the the passing game somebody said they stole this comment from somebody else, but He said he is who we were hoping to metric felt and would be Yeah, I feel like that that fit him perfectly.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_06]: He was second on the team with eight catches for 64 yards And he just looked different with the ball in his hand
- 23:18[SPEAKER_06]: Like he looked, he was explosive running through tackles, nice cuts, north and south, picked a hole and went like, he was, and you could tell like they were feeding him.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_06]: Like they were like, that's just, I thought Kevin had a great feel of how to get him involved in the game and like, could tell like, this is the guy who is, who's going to kind of carry us today.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_06]: He was great.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_06]: another guy who was great was Harold Fanden.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_06]: Oh my gosh, these right off the rip he had seven catches for 63 yards.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_06]: He's gonna be he's gonna be a guy he's gonna be a problem and again like maybe it doesn't
- 23:54[SPEAKER_06]: turn to wins and losses to me, at least just based off one game and I know just one game.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_06]: This feels to me like a team that is like the year away from being like the good competitive team based on what I saw out of our young rookies today.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_06]: Like we can play competitive this year, but we're going to be pissed off after a lot of games because we're going to beat ourselves, we're going to do something stupid, but we're going to feel like heading into the offseason that if we're like a couple pieces away from being able to be like that team that goes from last
- 24:24[SPEAKER_06]: I thought Cedric Tilman had a good game today.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_06]: It's just, can he stay healthy, but he strong hands, nice catches, had the touchdown.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_06]: Defensively, Carson Swesinger is a beast.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_06]: Mason Graham was part of an offensive line that held defensive line.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_06]: Defensive line, I'm sorry.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_06]: You're good.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_06]: To seven yards in the second half in how many rushing yards did the bangles have?
- 24:49[SPEAKER_06]: Four weeks.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_06]: 46 and how much of that was on like the first their first two drives?
- 24:54[SPEAKER_06]: So when when this game first started I thought uh-oh The the Browns defense might not be what we thought it was gonna be Chase Brown was running right through the middle of our defense I could it's like man.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_06]: This is this is now what I was expecting us to look like we weren't getting pressure on Joe Burrow
- 25:10[SPEAKER_06]: And I thought actually the offense did a really good job chewing up tons of clock and kind of interrupting the Bengals offensive rhythm to the point that you give it the Brown's defense of chance to kind of settle in, make those adjustments, and then from that point on.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_06]: It was lights out.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_06]: From basically halfway through the second quarter to the end of the game, the bangles could do nothing.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_06]: So that was super encouraging to see.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_06]: I do think this defense will keep us in games, but it's just going to be a lot of like last year.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to lose 17 to 14, 21 to 16, just
- 25:47[SPEAKER_06]: on stupid stuff.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to miss field goals or we're going to have flute turnovers or we're going to be right there but we have to go to the length of the field in a minute with no time out so we're just in straight drop back and we're going to throw a pick late.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_06]: I'm just just calling you now like I'm just telling you how the season's going to go.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, there's a drastic change especially in the run game.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Well, last year, we were counting down the weeks.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: It was like, okay, here's another week where we're not hitting 20.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_02]: How many weeks did we go?
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: So we finally hit a game where we got over 20 points.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that could be the same situation this year.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like as I was watching this game, you know, things start to fall into place.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: And again, are we over reacting to a few things, probably here in week one?
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: Sure, obviously, and we're still emotional.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: We just went through the BS a little bit ago.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: So we're still on that note, but I kept thinking of myself.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: This really does feel like a soft rebuild.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: They may not want to call it that they may have shoot that away.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, we're going to know this is a song because I saw this stat.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: Brown's rookie is accounted for 11 of the team's 16 touches on the opening possession 12 rookies on the 53 man roster.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: We're young.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: We got a lot of young guys that were developing better growing.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I hear what you're saying about we're probably a year away from a lot of these guys really taking that next step.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: to being, you know, really, really good NFL players.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: As they're transitioning, learning Mason Grammett's first game.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he had some plays where it's like, I wish he could have made that tackle or, you know, gotten a little more push here and there.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: But he's an interior defensive lineman.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's a tough position to transition from college to the NFL.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: And he's already out there doing it.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: right away as a rookie.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: So that's encouraging.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I thought it was interesting.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: The first three plays of the game was rookies.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: It was Dylan Samson, Harold Fanon, and then Isaiah Bond.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, okay, we got a lot of young guys that we're trying to rotate through here and get going.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_02]: So I think we just need to be patient.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: Have some low expectations as far as the wind column goes.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: because this was the one, this was the one to get and we didn't get it.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_06]: A couple things here, Andrew Jackson asked him, am I wearing a four to hat?
- 27:45[SPEAKER_06]: Definitely not.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_06]: They'll reality.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_06]: If you need to buy a cell house, give me a call.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_06]: Thanks for the plug.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_06]: Is Bo Joe the problem in the field goal game?
- 27:55[SPEAKER_06]: We kind of talked about this.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_06]: Wow, somebody asked it.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: Good.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_06]: It was Andrew Jackson in Stacey, actually, in the discord today, talked about this a little bit.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_06]: We were talking about it before we went live.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_06]: I hate doing this because it just sounds like such a cop-out and I don't have the numbers in front of me, but if you go back and you look at kickers percentages with Bojo being their holder and any other holder in their career, their percentage dips significantly, I don't know what it is.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_06]: We thought we put this to bed whenever we brought in Dustin Hopkins and he had his great year, but then last year it immediately goes in the dumps again and then so far in the preseason in this year.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_06]: Once again, we can't make any kicks and it's one of those things where
- 28:41[SPEAKER_06]: You can't get rid of Bojo, because he's maybe are really the best punner in football.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_06]: But do you just try, just for shits?
- 28:49[SPEAKER_06]: Do you just try it?
- 28:50[SPEAKER_06]: What could it hurt to just try another holder?
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: I found this back, Larry.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: I found the old stat from, we posted this back in 20, 2023, head into that season, and so in 28, so these are the numbers for all the kickers who had Cory Bajorque was a hold for them.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: prior to coming to the, to the Brown.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: So in 2018, Steven Halshka kicked 78.6% with before he was holding for him.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: His career was 85.2.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: 2019, against even Halshka, 78.6.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: Again, again, his career 85.2.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: So two seasons in a row, where his,
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: kicking was well below his average career average.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then 2020 was Tyler Bass.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: He kicked at 82.4% his career was 87.3 and 2021 was Mason Crosby.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_02]: You guys remember that up in Green Bay, 73.5% terrible in his career was 82%.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: So all these guys had lower kicking percentages, the years that Corey was holding for them.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_06]: And it just sounds like such a bullshit cop-out.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_06]: But at some point, like, do you examine that?
- 29:57[SPEAKER_06]: Because that you have data, we're supposedly an analytical driven team.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_06]: There's data to support it, like, just try it.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_06]: There can't be,
- 30:07[SPEAKER_06]: not every single kicker that we ever bring in on this team can be this bad.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_06]: It just, I don't know, I would be trying anything because we can't keep missing kicks.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_06]: Rocky Balbois says, I think we need to do it.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_06]: Wide receiver 1, I 100% agree.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_06]: I think I think Judy had a really good season last year and I think he's a really good receiver, but you've got to have
- 30:29[SPEAKER_06]: you got to have a guy like an alpha at that wide receiver a guy that the other team's fear maybe if we can suck bad enough two years in a row it's he's wearing number four in the scarlet and gray right now.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_06]: I don't want to suck for two more years but
- 30:46[SPEAKER_06]: maybe we can somehow snag that guy put him on our team.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_06]: I'd feel pretty good.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_06]: But yeah, we just like I said, we don't have anybody on this team is despite how good they looked at time today.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_06]: We don't have anybody on the offensive side of the ball on this team that just is like the guy you just you have to get the ball to 10 times because he's going to just put up numbers and he just kills the defense and we don't we don't have that.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_06]: I will say about our offenses about precision, just being in the right spot and all this stuff and like, well good luck going 15 play drives every single time.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_06]: You're not going to do it.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_02]: But I will say for being 20 years old, 20 years old, and playing the tight end position in the NFL as a 20 year old, hero van and junior looks legit.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: This dude led college football last season, and they had this on this, this is why these national broadcasts cracking up.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: They had his stats from college last season and said, you know, number one among all tight ends.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, number one among everybody.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: He led the entire nation receiver tight ends everybody in receptions and receiving yours.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: The dude is awesome and you know, it was kind of one of those things.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, played a bowling green, y'all.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: Y'all.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: Is it kind of translate to the NFL.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: He plays tight end all this stuff.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, game one of his rookie season and he goes out there.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he had a couple plays where he drops some pass and I think those things are going to get cleaned up because this dude does not drop many passes.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: I was one thing coming out of college.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: His coach is raved about.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: They called him what was it like glue hands or something I forget, but he just doesn't drop a lot of passes I mean the 7 for 60 they just kept going for him.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it was like worst fan and worse fan and got to get them all to him So that was encouraging to me like we do still need that number one like receiver But as far as having a legitimate weapon in the receiving game Harold fan and I feel confident is gonna be that for us Be one of those for us
- 32:33[SPEAKER_06]: No, I could play the degree, but he's just like a, he's like another guy where like he's a mismatch, but he's not just going to run a go route, you know what I mean and just beat you.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: No, I know that's why I'm saying we still need the number one receiver, but it was just encouraging for me watching her family man we got we got a dude here like he's going to be legit in our offense.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_06]: Well, let me think of ahead something else I wanted to get to do it.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_02]: Why would play that other voicemail before I get yeah, let me do that this one's from me
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Hey y'all, Mick from San Diego.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: I want to give a shout out to the commission for the fantasy football for allowing me to reload my pick during the draft.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: So Kudos to them, but to the game, week one loss, I'm going to chop it up to everyone needs to hit the jug machine.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: They were not good at catching the ball today.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: they need to be able to grip the ball and everything like that.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: Aside from that, I was very pleased with how we play both offensively and defensively.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: Debatchee made that mistake of running up to block the run, which allowed no offense to score touched down.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: Another take.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: Samson needs to be RB1, Jerome Ford just needs to not play anymore, very tentative running the ball, Joe Flacco look good, offensive line look good, yeah, just we shot ourselves in the foot with all the drop passes and then you know the missed field goal and then the missed extra point, I'm not going to leave it up to the kicker to win the game for the Browns when you
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: I will say like the kicker doesn't need to be able to win a game for you.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't mean that's a thing.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: You got to be able to out there and make a game winning kick.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, like you obviously, you don't want to turn the ball over with the the fluke INT is you want to catch the ball and all that good stuff.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_06]: But at the end of the day, you put your team in a position to win the game and the guy who has one job is to make kicks.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_06]: And it's not like we put him out there to make a 65 yarder is a chip shot feelable at home.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_06]: Friendly crowd.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_06]: Friendly atmosphere.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_06]: Great weather.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_06]: Great conditions.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_06]: I just watch the chiefs the other night.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_06]: Run Harris and Buckher in the fuel goal unit on the field and get a fuel goal and make it.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_06]: It's like 55 yards or something like that.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_06]: They did it all in about six seconds and I like the Browns could in a million years would have never have pulled that off and we can't even make fuel goals just you know.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_06]: doing it the normal way.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_06]: So there's something to be said about that.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_06]: I do think a positive today something that we talked about wanting to see out of the browns was we wanted to look buttoned up in terms of not a lot of like procedure penalties, you know, getting in and out of the huddle not having to take a bunch of time out.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_06]: It's not having a bunch of pre-snap penalties, all that good stuff.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_06]: I thought the browns, the browns had two penalties.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_07]: Hmm.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_06]: You know, I lied seven browns had seven penalties for 53 yards.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_06]: We didn't have to take unnecessary timeouts.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, the Bengals had to keep taking timeouts because it couldn't get a play out a couple of these penalties too.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_06]: Like I thought the Juan Jones got called for a Phantom holding penalty.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_06]: I didn't think that was much of a whole.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_06]: Um, so I was like, we look good in that regard.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_06]: You know, I thought Kevin Sefeinsey had a good day.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_06]: I thought Jim Schwartz had a good day.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_06]: I thought everybody for the Browns pretty much played well enough to win except for the kicker.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_06]: And there are some mistakes.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_06]: We're just not a good enough football team and not explosive enough offensively to be able to miss field goals and extra points and drop passes.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_06]: Like we we had to basically play perfect.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_06]: Or else we're not going to win games.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_06]: And that's a tough ask, especially with a team that's got 12 rookies on the 53 man roster.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, a fifth of our team.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_06]: is rookies, which is, I mean, that boat's well in terms of your future, but it doesn't translate to a lot of wins typically in the first season.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and like you said, I mean, unless the bangles defense turns out this year as the season unfolds, we realize, hey, they're actually very good.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: They're one of the better defenses in the league, they're legit.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: Unless that's the case.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: We're up for some tall tasks against these defenses coming up.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: Cause this was probably still in my opinion in probably years too.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: So one of the weaker defenses we're going to be facing this year.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he Baltimore is going to be tough.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: Green Bay is going to be tough.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: The Steelers, the I think the Vikings could have a good defense.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_06]: It's like it's going to be all the fight against defense is going to be good.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_06]: We play coming up in our next games.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_06]: We play possibly four defenses that are going to finish.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, no, the Steelers.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_06]: We play five defenses in our next five games that they might all finish top 10 in the league.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and the thing is the Browns might have one of those defenses as well.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean,
- 37:32[SPEAKER_02]: Just our offenses in there because this stats the one that killed me I saw this on X. I forget who posted.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: It said the Brown's pretty much doubled the bangles in total offensive yards.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_02]: They held Joe Burrow to just 113 passing yards just 95 team yards when you get account in the sack.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: So they were under 100 yards passing as a team.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: Jamar Chase had 26 receiving yards like we did that on defense.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: This is supposed to be a great offense that we're facing.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: It just was to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_02]: They've got the tea higgins, Jamar Chays.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: There's supposed to put up all these points in yards, and we held them to that, and we lost.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_06]: It's, it's tough.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's quite nice.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_06]: I, yes, did we have one more commercial we needed to do?
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we'll hit this, and then we'll, we got some other stuff to get into.

- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: So here's the last one real quick that I wanna read if we're not already depressed enough.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: In the second half of the Browns, you guys ready for this?
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: 216 yards, the Bengals, seven.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: 216, I mean, come on, any other team that does that is gonna win the game.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: 216 to seven, that's insane.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_02]: And we had 11 first downs in the second half and they had one.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_06]: It's one of those things where the Browns only find weight, the only team that ever loses games like this is us.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_06]: I can't even remember how many games we've lost in my lifetime, where after the game, all you see is reports about, like,
- 40:36[SPEAKER_06]: any time a team does this and this and this and this, they're 387 and one.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_06]: And today is the one, the loss.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_06]: The balance, you know, we know team is lost this way since 1867 and now the Browns have lost that way.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_06]: It's just every, every week we find a new way to do.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: This is our game this season and like we've said before the show, this is, I don't know if you guys in the chat.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: If you remember this, when we played the jets back in 2022, we had a two
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I forget they had like, maybe it was a no time outlet or something, whatever whatever the situation was in that moment, the last 229 teams to be in that situation.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_02]: One.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_02]: And we were the first team in 230 instances to lose in that situation.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_06]: And then to do it correctly, the team that had lost, like, before, like, was the Browns?
- 41:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, the last team to do it was us.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: And today, I saw this dead.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think was Darrell Royder said 29 consecutive losses for the Browns without allowing a 300 yard passer, which is a, I don't know if it's an NFL record, but it's the longest streak in the league right now for that.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_06]: That's just, that's wild.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_06]: A couple of things I'm seeing here in the comments.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_06]: I'll obviously in a lot of people say what's Justin Tucker up to.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_06]: One, we don't need that in two.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know if you guys remember, he sucked last year.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_06]: He was terrible.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_06]: Another thing I'm seeing people are going to be crying for a rookie QB, but Flacco is going to be playing well enough to win.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_06]: I agree with you that he's going to be playing well enough to win.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_06]: But if it goes the way I think it's going to go these next five games,
- 42:14[SPEAKER_06]: I'm seriously considering starting Dylan Gabriel against Miami.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_07]: Mm-hmm.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I'm going to throw in six.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_06]: If we're 0 and 6 and it may be it'll suck for Joe because there's a there's a solid change Joe won't be the reason we're own six.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_06]: Like he'll be playing fine.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_06]: He'll probably have some turnovers though.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_06]: We still won't be able to run the ball in all this and it's a little suck for him to do that.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_06]: But we have to see what we have in these young quarterbacks and if you're own six there's just no
- 42:49[SPEAKER_06]: That's the game where like their defense is this gonna be the softest defense the best place for a rookie to come in and be able to start without just getting blitz Like I'm not starting them against Green Bay and Detroit and Baltimore and Pittsburgh I'm not I'm not doing that to him.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_06]: That might be game.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_06]: I'm kind of pegged right now.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_06]: It's like the that might be the first game We see a rookie quarterback.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree with you I mean, I love Joe Flack.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: I know out of the fans out there love him I mean, he's great guy.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's great quarterback.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's been a great veteran for this league for a long time
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: for losing games he's not going to be he's not a part of the future obviously is forty going on forty one i mean what are we fighting for that point yeah you got to see what you have in the rookies because it if somehow we lock out and either gave her or should or could be the answer that uh... we talked about it at the time but that just opens things up more for you in the future and just you need to know uh... rock you want to say what if we're two and four after six if we got a couple wins uh... i don't know if we got a couple wins i'll probably stay with you until we're
- 43:51[SPEAKER_06]: mathematically eliminated or it's obvious that we're eliminated like because you don't want if you just if you're two and four and then you just switch to the rookie you're basically punting the season and what kind of evaluation are you going to get on your rookie if all your veterans are pissed and just check out because you just punted on the season and only six games into it.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_06]: And in coming out of that, you got to Dolphins, the Patriots who lost the Raiders today, which I think the Raiders are going to be improved, the Jets, get the Raiders, I mean, it's not like, there's no easy games for the ones this year, but it softens up just a tad after that Miami game to the point where like, now if you're two and four and after that Dolphins game and then you come out and you lose to the Patriots and the Jets, I'm probably not
- 44:39[SPEAKER_06]: or at the Ravens, but maybe at Las Vegas.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know, there's no good time to start here.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_06]: If you do this stuff, Patriots, Jets, Ravens, Raiders, Niners, maybe the Titans, so that's too late.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're just taking one week at a time, guys.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_02]: If we do these therapy sessions every week, so join us, I mean, that's all we can do.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_06]: So we kind of wanted to talk about the run game a little bit here before we get out of here.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously, the run game was tough today.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_06]: Jerome Ford didn't look great.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_06]: Samson looked explosive when we were having the ball on space, but we couldn't do it in just a straight-up run game.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_06]: Signed Quintion Judd against to his deal finally.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, I'm not going to say it's annoying, but it's head scratching.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_06]: It's a four year 11.4 million dollar deal, five million dollar signing bonus fully guaranteed.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: So why wasn't this done two months ago when I saw the full guaranteed I was like wait Really like what are we doing here?
- 45:37[SPEAKER_06]: It just all did was cost him a game.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_06]: No, I'd expect him to be He's got to play next week, right?
- 45:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a lot of the reports are pointing toward that
- 45:52[SPEAKER_02]: For me, I'm like, this dude hasn't had any contact practice.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he was here for rookie mini camp, OTAs, and veteran mini camp, and all that stuff back in June.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: But he was not here for anything in July.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: So when the pads finally came on, like, this dude hasn't taken a hit since the national championship game.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how much work you can just shove him into and expect him to just, I don't know.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_06]: I think if there's any position in the national football league that you can kind of be late to the party and just kind of be plug-in play, it's running back.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I agree.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe not on third down.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously passing situations maybe, but at least on first and second down.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_06]: like, hey, here's the ball.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_06]: I'll go, go, run it.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_06]: Like, you know, I mean, I think that's something is going to get 25 characters.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_06]: That's what I'm saying.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_06]: You know, I don't know.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_06]: But I do think there's a chance, like, I think we're going to see a pretty heavy dose of heaven seems to.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_06]: I'd be shot drum-forward.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_06]: It's at the point.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_06]: I don't even know, Joe, he's long for this team.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_02]: That it can be fun.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_06]: Can we talk about is discouraging is a performance
- 46:54[SPEAKER_02]: it was just it was so obvious like when he was in the game that it just there's nothing there there's just nothing there well you know we talked about it before the season they made and take a pay cut even stay on the team and that was before they drafted you know two guys and then they went out and used that number two priority in waiver priority after cut down to go get Reem Sanders what do you hold on to your own four four he's not you're not going to resign him like this is final year you're not bringing him back next year probably
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: Just get rid of them.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_02]: Rob at the rookies.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_06]: He took the pay cut, you know what I mean?
- 47:28[SPEAKER_06]: Yes.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_06]: BK Brown says 16 points against a bad defense, taking dunking to Owen's six.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_06]: Bengals are aligned in defense's trash.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_06]: Brown's will get destroyed by good teams at the strong O line in defense.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_06]: That's basically exactly how I feel and exactly how I felt watching the game.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_06]: This is the defense that I felt so strongly about the Brown's offense today, which I'm not gonna feel this way, the rest of the season.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_06]: And I knew that.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_06]: I started Joe Flacco and Jerome Ford and fantasy football today.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_06]: I started Joe Flacco for Justin Herbert, which hindsight was the stupidest decision I ever could have made.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_06]: But the process made sense.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I'm like, and I thought Jerome Ford would have had one of his games where
- 48:08[SPEAKER_06]: We don't think he's playing that well, but he rattles off some runs.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_06]: Probably he has a couple of long receptions and maybe he gets a a goal line touchdown run.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_06]: He scored one point in fantasy and watching the game.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_06]: It was obvious why.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_06]: It just him and Xavier were the combined for one point for me this week.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_06]: Um, so that's just, and I don't expect Quintua Joaquins to just like miraculously change the running game because I think the offensive line just might not be very good, um, which that's tough.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_06]: That sucks because I love Wyatt Teller and Posec and Jolbeton, you know, like I like these guys a lot.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: and it's just I just don't know what we have there because today was that was about his the lack of any kind of pushing the run game was about his discouraging of a thing I could take away from this game because one of the big keys we talked about so much coming into the season and this game specifically get back to this run game let's see it on the field wow wolf did they fall in their face in that regard but
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: let's talk about this this contract though.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get back to this for real quick.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like did the Browns really drop the ball on this as far as waiting this long and now he's not even ready for the start.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: He had to miss a game already because Justin said you guys were talking about the other night like you getting your frustrations out.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_02]: So what kind of stuff did you guys talk about?
- 49:27[SPEAKER_06]: Well, this was just before you was signed, we were just talking like, what are you waiting for?
- 49:32[SPEAKER_06]: Even if you're worried about the suspension, you didn't draft him to be your running back for the first four games this year.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_06]: You drafted him to be your running back for the next four years.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what the issue was, and obviously we're not in the negotiations.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_06]: I've seen a lot of talk online about it was some of the wording in the contract in terms of like,
- 49:52[SPEAKER_06]: Queen Sean didn't want to give up money if he suspended and the Browns wanted like the standard holding a paycheck for suspension that kind of thing.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_06]: But it's just like if you're the Browns like I understand.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_06]: you don't become rich by just giving money away but like we're not his game checks on his rookie contract it's not like like I you're given a lot more money away to more to more worthless people than that you know the amount of money you'd be given away if he is suspended is negligible compared to what he can bring you on the field in terms of his talent and why you drafted him so
- 50:33[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_06]: I don't obviously we weren't in there and I don't know what the hold-ups were, but at least from the outside looking in, it's just not good.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good point.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: People like to trash everybody for having an opinion a lot of times, but it's like, all we have is outside looking in.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: There were no updates on this.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_02]: There is no insight information.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's just the optics of it.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_02]: It looks like we were penny-pension.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_02]: at the wrong position for the wrong player at the wrong time.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like, why now?
- 51:01[SPEAKER_02]: Why with this guy?
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, we're paying other people way more money to do nothing on this team, essentially.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_02]: Then we would be him.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I saw the stuff too, where people were saying, well, they were, you know, they didn't want to pay him for any, you know, misgames due to suspension.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you just paid him for a misgame now.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_02]: And if he doesn't play next week, now you're paying it for two misgames because you dragged your feet on this.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_02]: It was so stupid.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: If you're going to give him the fully guaranteed in the end, you should have done it back in June.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: He'd at least be ready.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, if he plays next week, if it's a half, if it's a half workload, so now you're paying him for half a game.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_06]: exactly exactly yeah even if he plays it won't be it's just oh man so stupid this yeah what we do have a new segment this year yeah that we want to that we want to do as we wrap up episodes so we appreciate everybody who stuck with us here to the end
- 51:54[SPEAKER_06]: We are now going to introduce the manly bands mainly as performance of the week, which is tough to do this in the loss.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_06]: I hate giving away like player the games and games you lose.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_06]: But we're going to do it anyways, because we did have some bright spots.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_02]: So why don't you go ahead and take it, Josh?
- 52:09[SPEAKER_02]: For me, I said this has to be Miles Garrett, because really we haven't talked a lot about Miles Garrett during this episode.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I think this is the time where we need to give him his flowers, because
- 52:18[SPEAKER_02]: We said Miles needs to come out here and be a game record against this bengals of line.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_02]: Joe Burrow like nine career sacks against Burrow and all this stuff, I mean, he terrorizes him.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: He did it again today, especially on that in the, what was the third fourth quarter there, we're just three straight plays with sack sack and then damn near safety.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and Miles laid some hits on him, brought the pressure.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the way he was stunting and move around the line and getting different angles to come at the quarterback was insane.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen some people on line saying Miles Garrett needs to do more, like in a game like this.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I kept, what more do you want him to do?
- 52:53[SPEAKER_02]: I know it would be great if he came in, strip sack, scoop, scored himself and everything.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: Then kick the P.A.T.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: all on his own and everything.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_02]: But.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's not realistic, what you want Miles Garrett to be able to do in a game he did that today.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: He did everything that you want the best defensive player in the league to do.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_06]: Now Miles was great and it like the whole first half he was just getting so close though.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_06]: Almost had a sack, but Burrill was able to like scramble for a yard in front of the line of scrimmage so it doesn't count for a sack.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_06]: The one where he started at the end and then wrapped around home, I didn't know Joe Burrill was going to get up from that.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_06]: He was freaking out and then he just finally, like he was just like wearing them down and then he just finally started getting them home and it all came to fruition on that one drive where we almost got the safety.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_06]: Miles was great.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_06]: The entire defense out of basically like two drives in the first half where it's like, okay, I was I was like a little bit nervous, but I was trying not to overreact one was a scripted drive.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_06]: Okay, and then another one you'd just like you remember Chase Brown, Joe Burrow, T. Higgins, Mike Kasecki, and, um, Jumar Chase.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_06]: This is an offense that it's as a superbowl winning caliber offense.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_06]: Like if they have any kind of defense, they can do a lot of damage.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_06]: So like it's not crazy to think that they're going to go down and score two touchdowns.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_06]: Even if you do have a great defense, but Miles was the linchpin again to a defense that was outstanding, especially in that second half.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_06]: Another guy, this isn't my performer, but another guy kind of, I'd like Greg Newsom.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know why many people hate on Greg Newsom.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_06]: He's available.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_06]: First of all, he's available all the time and he plays with such an energy in like, I'm not saying he's a top five shut down corner in the league and he's just, you know, new some island.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_06]: But Greg Newsom is a very solid defensive back who is healthy more than he's not healthy, who plays with extremely high energy and is kind of like a vocal leader for
- 54:54[SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, and we talked about it.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_02]: 26 yards for Jamar Chase, largely considered the best receiver in the NFL or one of the top.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, yes, the defensive line was getting pressure.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_02]: Miles had a great game, but the second dairy did very well today.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_02]: This is, I've said this already on the show.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_02]: This is not a joke of an offense.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_02]: This is supposed to be a high flying bangles offense.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_02]: And we really shut them down today.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_06]: If I have to pick a manly band's performer of the game, for me, I am going Dylan Samson.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_06]: And not necessarily like his box score was, yeah, he average 2.4 yards per carry with a long yard of five or long run of five yet eight catches for 64 yards on
- 55:48[SPEAKER_06]: It was kind of a coming out party in terms of I think everybody left this game going well Dylan Samson's a freaking good football player like that brown's my half something there you know so a he ran tough use get used taking hits getting tough yards running through tackles like I love this game going man if if we can block it all and we get quinsion back like this runny back room
- 56:11[SPEAKER_06]: This is a young explosive running back room if we can just block it all.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_06]: So that's going to be my manly band performer, the game you had defense, so I want to head when offense.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: I like it.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, when when Quintron comes back and he's ready to go like fully integrated in the offense and everything.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're talking about a 220 pound bruiser that can run four three.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_02]: So he's and he's shifty.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's not going to rip off 40 yard runs and stuff left and right, but the dude's going to be the thing with like Dylan Samson, he's 200, 200 pound back, maybe.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like he's put together, but he's smaller.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_02]: So to try to give him a featured workload is just tough.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's tough to do.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_02]: And that's kind of what they had to try to make shift today.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_02]: But when we get Quenchon in there, and that frees up, Dylan, to be that change of pace, receiving back, I mean, this duo could be very good.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_06]: Quenchon is this rare blend of, I mean, he's 220 pounds or 230, like you said, four, three, speed.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, like he's.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_06]: Quintron Jenkins is going to help this run game a lot.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_06]: We just have to provide just some kind of blocking up front.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_06]: We have to get some kind of push.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_06]: I do think that stretching the field a little bit would go a long way in helping this run game.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_06]: I know the offense was efficient, but like it was a lot of thinking and dunking within eight yards of the line of scrimmage or wasn't a lot of downfield passes.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_06]: You can stretch that defense out, make them respect the deep passing game a little bit.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_06]: They got to move some guys out of the box.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_06]: They're not just all eyes in the backfield.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_06]: They're going to help your offensive line out.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_06]: It's going to help the run game out.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_06]: We got to figure out a way to stretch the field.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_06]: Try to get Isaiah, bond, born, fall of the use of his speed.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_06]: Didn't see much jemari thrash today, which was kind of surprising considering how much he played and how well he was in the pre-season.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_02]: I should pull the snap counts.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_02]: I know he was out there quite a bit.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's just,
- 58:05[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't get targeted, I don't think at all.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, here, let me see this.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_02]: So Jamari thrash on offense played 20 snaps.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and we had what 71.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_02]: So let's little less than a third.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_06]: So I was a little bit surprised based on that, but we played, there's a lot of multiple tight-end sets out there because in juke and juke who had a man they run to.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah, catch and run.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_06]: So I love David and juke who I think it's safe to say, David and juke is probably my favorite Cleveland Browns player.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_02]: Get to extended.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_06]: That's a guy.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_06]: I just don't think you can let David and Jokeu go.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_06]: Like he's since the Freddie kitchens here where he requested the trade and then he decided to come back.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_06]: There's been like nobody who's been maybe outside of Nick Chub, been like a Cleveland Brown more than David and Jokeu.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_06]: Just I don't know.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_06]: I think you can't let that guy walk at least in my opinion.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_06]: I'd be pretty bummed if we let David and Jokeu go.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: I would, too, because I think that, I mean, Harold Fanon, obviously we talked about, like, looks like he's going to be the real deal, but he's a different, tight end than David and Joker.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's not your prototypical size for tight end and all that kind of stuff.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think David helps free things up for Harold Fanon.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think these two together could be very good.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I agree.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see them extend chief and keep him here.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_02]: it's that.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_06]: All right, we're going to go ahead and wrap this thing up.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_06]: We're right about right at the hour mark, which is what we like to keep these things to, so we don't ramble.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_06]: Nobody wants to hear us talk that much.
