Transcript
- 0:00Hey, everyone, you're listening to the Curt Landry podcast, where we're going to help
- 0:08you discover your kingdom destiny.
- 0:11My name is Darrell and sitting right beside me is Rabbi Curt Landry.
- 0:15And in this episode, we're going to discuss how to manifest blessings in your life.
- 0:20But before we jump into this topic and more, Rabbi, did you do anything interesting over
- 0:25the weekend or did you just kind of enjoy yourself?
- 0:29Yeah, this weekend, probably the most interesting thing we did was really have a time to be
- 0:36able to, Christy and I, to be able to review.
- 0:38I know it's taken a while, but to review our trip to Israel and kind of download and
- 0:45talk about what were the takeaways spiritually for she and I, not looking at the humanitarian
- 0:51aid side, not looking at the trauma of the terror, not looking at the needs and, you
- 0:56know, like our staff there, but just she and I, you know, as a couple and as a family,
- 1:04what did we learn?
- 1:06What should we learn?
- 1:07What do we need to change and adjust?
- 1:09Because anytime you have a defining moment in your life, you need to take time to kind
- 1:15of mine out the nuggets and you need to do it before the, so to say, before the information
- 1:20gets old.
- 1:21So anyway, that's what we did.
- 1:22We just mined out the nuggets of what the Lord's trying to do with us.
- 1:28Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29I guess on another note, you know, I mean, 2024 has really started pretty much on fire
- 1:36with getting like a lot of different requests to do some speaking engagements and, you know,
- 1:41I mean, very typical to have a good random rotation of requests.
- 1:47When I got here like two years ago, it was pretty out of control.
- 1:51Like you just had so many and they were so random.
- 1:54And so I think we've done a good job at trying to not condense, but get it more organized
- 1:59into a workflow for you.
- 2:01But is it still fun doing all these requests and, you know, all these speaking engagements?
- 2:08Yeah, listen, I, what I do is I really pray for seriously, I really pray over everyone.
- 2:18And sometimes I know there might be people listening and saying, well, we asked them
- 2:21to come, he didn't speak.
- 2:23I don't, boy, you're asking a real loaded question here.
- 2:29I don't-
- 2:30Is it fun?
- 2:31Is it fun?
- 2:32Fun.
- 2:33It's always fun when it's really the Lord sending you out, even in difficult speaking
- 2:37places.
- 2:38Okay.
- 2:39I mean, the Lord may like send you into like some of the places we went into in Nicaragua,
- 2:43dangerous, difficult, difficult accommodations.
- 2:50You can't drink the water, the food, all the stuff.
- 2:52But they, yeah, they, I don't know if fun's the right word, but they're very fulfilling.
- 2:57But with us, what we do is if we, if we feel led that what we're carrying the people need,
- 3:03it's fun.
- 3:04You can't just take the speaking engagement because you're trying to fill a calendar.
- 3:07I guess that's what I'm trying to say, Darrell.
- 3:09Yeah, yeah.
- 3:10No, completely out of left field.
- 3:11You had no idea I was going to ask that.
- 3:13And you know, I think that's what's cool about a platform and like a show like this is that
- 3:20it's very sometimes out of left field.
- 3:23And that's when you get the best responses, the most organic responses.
- 3:27I feel like that the Holy Spirit works through you a little bit different when you get these
- 3:31random questions from me or, you know, questions from the listeners.
- 3:36And anyways, I guess, I guess it's a good segue to say, hey, if you've got questions
- 3:42and you know, you've got topics and you want to do some different stuff and you want to
- 3:45figure out how to get in touch with us, just send your email to podcast at curtlandry.com.
- 3:52Make sure to fill out what you're trying to do, what your topic is, and just say it's
- 3:56for the Curt Landry podcast in the title subject line.
- 4:00It's going to help us out a lot.
- 4:02Also if you've been enjoying these episodes as podcasts, make sure to leave us a review
- 4:07on Spotify, Apple, just wherever you're listening to this podcast.
- 4:10It really, really helps the show.
- 4:13And I think it shows other people that are looking for a good podcast in this nature
- 4:18that there's credibility on the podcast because other people are reviewing it and we would
- 4:24just kindly ask you to jump in there.
- 4:27All right.
- 4:28So in this episode, Rabbi, we're really discussing the topic of manifesting blessings or I guess
- 4:35the question how to manifest blessing.
- 4:39So I guess when you get that question or over your lifespan of preaching and just spreading
- 4:46the word, how do you really respond to that when someone's saying, hey, I'm trying to
- 4:51figure this out.
- 4:52I'm trying to activate that.
- 4:54Where do you start?
- 5:00Let's try to really take baby steps into this.
- 5:03Okay.
- 5:04Blessings flow.
- 5:06Okay, they flow.
- 5:08So let's imagine a river, okay?
- 5:12Rivers flow and they go to the lowest spot, they follow that low spot, which is symbolic
- 5:18of humility and they flow.
- 5:22A lot of the ways the Lord refers to us as trees.
- 5:29And when we're in right alignment with the flow, He says, you shall be a tree planted
- 5:35by the river of living water, meaning that your destiny for blessings comes from your
- 5:42root system, not from your branches.
- 5:45So it's what's underneath you, not what's above that everybody sees.
- 5:51So it's character, it's integrity, it's values that the roots underneath is what's really
- 5:58important.
- 6:00And so there's really two types of blessings and if you want, I can kind of unpack those
- 6:05because to understand how blessings flow in that river, then it will help people to…I'm
- 6:14one of the ones that I have spent the majority of my life trying to flow with God and His
- 6:22blessings and not have to go chase it.
- 6:25I'm not a chaser.
- 6:27And so I think people need to understand how blessings work and how do you attract them
- 6:36or receive them into your life to where there's actually deliverables in your life.
- 6:41Yeah, yeah.
- 6:43One thing before we jump really into that and you break it down and let the listeners
- 6:49know how they can kind of work through this is that if you're working on goals in 2024,
- 6:55you definitely need this free resource, Goals to Grow By 2024 Edition.
- 7:02It's Rabbi Kurt's game plan.
- 7:05If you want to accomplish goals and do some big things in your life and make some changes,
- 7:10you're going to need this guide.
- 7:11It's completely free, paid for by you, people listening and people donating.
- 7:17And so you want to get that free download, we'll put the link in the description, but
- 7:21it's kurtlandry.com forward slash goals 2024.
- 7:27You want to make sure you get that.
- 7:28So Rabbi, break down the different variations of blessings for us.
- 7:33Okay, so let's go with the first one.
- 7:35The first one is blessing of obedience, where if you do this, I call it, for me, I call
- 7:42it cause and effect.
- 7:45So if you do this, then God does that.
- 7:49And so, and you people say, well, is that biblical or theologically correct?
- 7:55And it is.
- 7:56If you go to Deuteronomy 28, it says, Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey
- 8:01my voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully His commandments, which I have commanded
- 8:08you today, that the Lord God will set you high above all the nations.
- 8:15And then it goes through 16 verses of, I'll bless you in the city, I'll bless you in the
- 8:19country, I'll bless, bless, bless.
- 8:21But then if you go into Deuteronomy 28, you get to the verse, actually it was 14 verses,
- 8:29you get to the 15th verse and it talks about cursing of disobedience.
- 8:33So there's quite, that's a blessing of, if you do this, then I'll do that.
- 8:41So that's a blessing of obedience.
- 8:44But the second type of blessing, and I don't think people realize is what I call is a
- 8:49commanded blessing.
- 8:51So what your commanded blessing would be like Psalm 133, where the scripture says how good
- 8:57and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
- 9:01Then it goes on, it talks about the unity of down the head and the beard and the garment
- 9:05of Aaron, but it ends with, and I will command a commanded blessing.
- 9:10Meaning if you stay in unity, I command a blessing.
- 9:15And one of the ones that we have done for at House of David for 22 years, just I'll
- 9:22read this to you, Psalm 122.
- 9:24And it's one of the reasons that every time we come together on Shabbat at House of David,
- 9:30we've prayed this.
- 9:31It says, pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
- 9:34May they prosper who love you.
- 9:37Peace be within their walls, prosperity within their palaces.
- 9:42For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say peace be within you.
- 9:47Because of the house of the Lord God, I will seek your good.
- 9:50So the Lord is not a request.
- 9:52He's commanding you to speak and pray peace over Jerusalem.
- 9:57And then you get prosperity comes to you.
- 10:00So that's a commanded blessing, a commanded prayer and a commanded blessing.
- 10:05So this is kind of new in Western culture.
- 10:08Passover, if you go to Exodus 15, there's actually nine commanded blessings for putting
- 10:15your feet under the Lord's table.
- 10:18Nine blessings.
- 10:19And so that's one of the reasons we do that every year.
- 10:22So there's blessings of obedience and there's blessings of commanded blessings.
- 10:28And you can go into Malachi 3, if you bring tithes and offerings, there's commanded blessings
- 10:33of open heaven, health, rebuke the devour, and favor with the nations.
- 10:38So blessings aren't luck.
- 10:42Blessings aren't even favor.
- 10:45Blessings are something that flows when you do things God's way.
- 10:52I guess what if someone is dealing with a sin, right?
- 10:58I mean, it can be whatever.
- 11:01I think the one that's probably used the most for men would be like pornography or something,
- 11:06right?
- 11:07Or it could be, you know, gluttony, which is a big problem in this country where people
- 11:16just overeat, right?
- 11:17And like that can become a thing too.
- 11:20But let's say somebody's been working really hard, right?
- 11:25They've even downloaded Goals to Grow this year and they're trying to work through this
- 11:29stuff and they're trying to figure it out.
- 11:32But like Dan Goumet, you know, they just keep sinning, you know?
- 11:37Like what it says in Scripture, we love to sin.
- 11:42And we do.
- 11:43And so where is the different type of blessings you just walk through?
- 11:50Let's put it into a listener's perspective and be super relational and practical, is
- 11:55that if someone's dealing with a sin that's just reoccurring, man, and like they're just
- 12:00struggling with this and they do good for a month or two and then they come back to
- 12:03it, right?
- 12:05And they just beat themselves up about it.
- 12:07But it's that thought because I mean, you know, I've gone through sins to where like
- 12:12I could see the blessings in the season or like, you know, I didn't do that one sin and
- 12:18I felt like I defeated it, right?
- 12:22And then as soon as you mess up, the thought comes to you and super overwhelming that is,
- 12:28man, you know, I just lost all that favor.
- 12:30I just lost the blessing, you know?
- 12:33Like am I going to be able, like I just wish I could go back 15 seconds ago and not do
- 12:40that.
- 12:41What would your advice be for someone that's in that sin to blessing area to where like
- 12:48it's really hard to like forgive themselves or figure out how to pivot over that moment?
- 12:57You know, Paul says it in Romans, he talks about there's nothing good in man.
- 13:03So what happens is you have to get to a place where you get into, now this is how I manage
- 13:08it in my own life.
- 13:11And I've been blessed because I wasn't raised religious and I'm not legalistic.
- 13:16And so I'm just going to share the whole purpose of this podcast is personal.
- 13:22And then I'm going to tell a funny story.
- 13:24Okay.
- 13:25Okay.
- 13:26So first of all, you need to have a repentive lifestyle.
- 13:32You're not going to, you can overcome sins, sexual sins, whatever it may be.
- 13:40And even if you're overcoming them, when you fail, you need to be able to be quick to repent
- 13:47and not just apologize to God, but with godly sorrow and then ask the Lord to strengthen
- 13:52you so the next time that the temptation comes that he'll empower you to do it.
- 13:57But understand that once you start, and I'm going to use the sexual sin because I got
- 14:01a really great story for it.
- 14:05Once you come to the terms with it, you need to know once you overcome it at one level,
- 14:10he's going to come back and hit you at another level and he's going to hit you at a higher
- 14:14level because he's going to try to get you back into that bondage.
- 14:17Okay.
- 14:18But you also need to understand, so I'm going to share with you, when I was in business,
- 14:25in the fruit business, one of my business partners, now listen, we really strive to
- 14:33be holy.
- 14:34We prayed five days a week every morning for an hour and a half before we went on the phones
- 14:39to sell fruit.
- 14:41Okay.
- 14:43We sowed 35% of the income of our fruit business to Israel.
- 14:49So this isn't like a normal business.
- 14:50I mean, we're godly men.
- 14:53We're all married.
- 14:54We have children.
- 14:56And we're in our late 30s and 40s and we're making a lot of money.
- 15:03And so when you're in that atmosphere in your late 30s, the thing about having finance is
- 15:10it gives you the freedom to do things that people that don't have finance, they don't
- 15:15have to battle the temptations of what they're doing with us.
- 15:19We have enough resources.
- 15:21We can go and do whatever we want.
- 15:23And so at a young age, and so what happens is you have to learn how to manage your character
- 15:29and your values along with the finances because the finances, you know, it can be an answer,
- 15:36but it can also bring you down if you don't know how to do it.
- 15:38So I'm going to give you a funny story about this.
- 15:41So we go to a, we go, we used to go to marketing produce shows.
- 15:49And so, so we were at this one and it was Fleming Foods.
- 15:53So big food distributor.
- 15:55So there's everything there from produce to fish to meat to everything.
- 16:00And one of the, one of the greatest things is we had our fruit booth and it was next
- 16:05to one of my favorite cooking show hosts and it's Justin Williams, William.
- 16:11So I don't, a lot of people may not know who that is, but he was the Cajun chef from New
- 16:16Orleans and he was the one that used to say, ah, gone, gee, you know, that guy, you know,
- 16:22and he was a comedian.
- 16:23He was a comedian and he's really good.
- 16:27But the thing is, is that he drinks through the whole show, the whole show he's drinking
- 16:31and he could tell us why he, I'm just on Wilson and I'm, you know, and he, and so anyway,
- 16:37so he had the Justin Wilson booth set up next to us and right.
- 16:41And of course he's drinking in the, in the booth, you know, he's, you know, happy and,
- 16:45and all this stuff.
- 16:46And I got to talk to him and, and spend, you know, there are three days.
- 16:50So anyway, one morning we're there and my business partners are there.
- 16:56There's three of us and two other guys that are in, in the grocery business like us.
- 17:02Now you have to understand the grocery business is pretty corrupt.
- 17:05Okay.
- 17:06That's all I want to say about that.
- 17:09It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a worldly corrupt.
- 17:13A lot of stuff goes on.
- 17:14Okay.
- 17:15So to have the Christian guys, we're like the, we're, we're ostracized by all the other
- 17:20guys who are at the convention that are partying and running around and getting friendly with
- 17:26people that they have to pay for.
- 17:28So I'll just say it that way.
- 17:29Okay.
- 17:30So, so that's tracking.
- 17:31That's the atmosphere.
- 17:32Right.
- 17:33And then you got the Jesus freaks.
- 17:34It's us.
- 17:36So the five Jesus freaks are in our booth and we're sitting there and one of my business
- 17:41partners dealing with this issue.
- 17:43And he says, you know what?
- 17:45He says, I really have had victory all this time.
- 17:47I'm feeling great.
- 17:48I'm overcoming the spiritual lusts in the women and I'm good.
- 17:54And I haven't had a temptation and I'm, and the Lord's really, and he's really kind of
- 17:58just telling us and encouraging like, Hey, I'm doing great with this thing like this.
- 18:03So meanwhile, I'm in my back to the booth.
- 18:05He's got his back to the traffic area.
- 18:07Right.
- 18:08And he's talking about it.
- 18:10And I look and off in the distance, here comes the Budweiser girl.
- 18:16Okay.
- 18:17Oh, the Lord has a sense of humor.
- 18:19Okay.
- 18:20This is a true story too.
- 18:21So here comes the Budweiser girl and basically she's wearing a spandex beer can that is shaped
- 18:29to her body.
- 18:30Yeah.
- 18:31Is this like the eighties, nineties?
- 18:33What's the reference?
- 18:34This would be the nineties.
- 18:35Nineties.
- 18:36Okay.
- 18:37This is the nineties.
- 18:38Okay.
- 18:39So, and, and she has a lot of artificial intelligence into her body.
- 18:45Okay.
- 18:46So we'll call it that way.
- 18:47Okay.
- 18:48So, so, so, so her figure that she's wearing, she's had a lot of hamburger helper.
- 18:53Okay.
- 18:54This isn't like a norm.
- 18:55No one has a normal body like this.
- 18:56Okay.
- 18:57Okay.
- 18:58So she's in the spandex.
- 18:59I'm not trying to drag you guys all down and go, man, look, he's on the podcast.
- 19:02He's making me sin.
- 19:03No, I'm not.
- 19:04I'm making my point, but she's, I see her off in the distance and here she's coming.
- 19:07And of course there's Justin Wilson in the next booth.
- 19:10And of course he's like, you know, he's, you know, Caesar coming, he wants to visit.
- 19:16And so here she's coming up from behind us and here's my partner talking about how he's
- 19:20just had this great victory.
- 19:22And, and so, and I'm telling him, I said, listen, it's great to rejoice in this, but
- 19:27it's not your perfection.
- 19:29It's your ability to, and I'm the youngest Christian there.
- 19:32I'm saying it's your ability to repent because what happens is, you know, once you think
- 19:37you've overcome something, a temptation will come and it's like Paul said, I do the things
- 19:41I don't want to do.
- 19:42I said, so you can't take your identity and go down into the ditch because you sin.
- 19:48You just have to repent and sincerely repent to the Lord because temptations will come.
- 19:54So I'm telling them this.
- 19:55This is the convert.
- 19:56You can't make this stuff up.
- 19:57I'm telling them this.
- 19:58And meanwhile, around the corner going to Justin Wilson, who's very loud, Justin says,
- 20:04oh, my dear or whatever like that, and here's my business partner.
- 20:08He turns around after I just gave this thing and there's the Budweiser girl standing there.
- 20:15And he goes, and he was a funny guy, a great sense of humor.
- 20:19He turned around and he went with his face and he said, well, my victory's over.
- 20:24My victory's over.
- 20:26I fell back to sin again.
- 20:28And that's kind of what I'm sharing.
- 20:31That's real life.
- 20:32That's how things go.
- 20:36So you see what I'm saying?
- 20:37The point is you have to resist the sin, draw an eye onto God.
- 20:41But when you fall, don't condemn yourself.
- 20:43There's no condemnation.
- 20:44But you do have to repent.
- 20:46And you need people you can talk to about it.
- 20:49The word says confess your faults one to another.
- 20:53And so you need to be careful who you repent to because they don't use it against you.
- 20:57But my point is, is yes, you sin and you're going to sin, your identity of who you are
- 21:02in Christ is who you are being covered in the blood of Jesus with the full armor of
- 21:06God.
- 21:07I don't know if that helps or not.
- 21:08Yeah, no, a great story.
- 21:11It brings this thought to mind of how intense and just like the question and different stuff
- 21:22that we started off this episode that kind of took you out of left field, right?
- 21:27It's so intense and so random of how the enemy attacks and tries to block blessings.
- 21:37I mean, he's sitting there in the story, right?
- 21:40So you're telling it.
- 21:41I'm trying to play a movie in my head and try to draw what's happening.
- 21:48That's just the type of learner I am.
- 21:50And he's sitting there just doing his thing.
- 21:53And yeah, he's bragging.
- 21:55But he's feeling good about himself.
- 21:57And then the enemy just like that out of nowhere gets him.
- 22:02And it's such a humbling experience.
- 22:06And Paul, in that scripture that you're reading, I mean, that's the scripture for men.
- 22:13I feel like that they go to because of that.
- 22:16Just walking around nowadays in 2024.
- 22:22It's harder and harder to be a godly man to get away from that lust because it's just
- 22:29everywhere.
- 22:30And so is it just not wild though?
- 22:34Other than that topic, any other sin that when you're at the edge of feeling, hey, I'm
- 22:40on this, not that you put yourself on that pedestal, but you're feeling good.
- 22:45You are kind of giving yourself a pat on the back and he just comes in and gets you.
- 22:52Okay.
- 22:53Well, listen, you know this.
- 22:54I did a spiritual warfare prayer, urgent prayer against Leviathan and against Python the other
- 23:03night where we had the sound issue thing.
- 23:07My mic was, who knows what that is.
- 23:09But anyway, and what I explained is when the enemy attacks, there's two times the enemy
- 23:15attacks, okay, he attacks you right after you have a victory.
- 23:21I mean, you have a breakthrough and a victory and that Python spirit is going to come like
- 23:26a constrictor and try to steal the joy.
- 23:30I mean, think about it.
- 23:31How many times have you had this where you've had something that was great that happens
- 23:40to you?
- 23:41I mean, it's the greatest thing.
- 23:42And you go to one of your family members and you say, oh man, this is the greatest thing.
- 23:49I mean, you're on top of the world.
- 23:51You had this victory, you're telling the story and then they respond negatively against what
- 23:57you've said.
- 23:58And it's like all of a sudden, all the gas goes out of the tank.
- 24:01You're on the side of the road going, man, and why did I share that with them?
- 24:05I mean, everyone's had that experience.
- 24:07Well, in the spirit, the same thing happens.
- 24:09What happens is what I said the other night was when you have victory, you're vulnerable.
- 24:15You see, the thing is when the scripture says that when the thief comes to steal, if you
- 24:22knew he was going to steal, so what you have to do is prepare your mind after you have
- 24:27a victory to stay humble and know I'm going to shut down the attack for the attack comes.
- 24:33Another time it comes is when you're being promoted.
- 24:37So the biggest attack, I can tell you this in this season, 2024.
- 24:44Those who are willing to fill out their goals to grow, add their dream goals to it, feed
- 24:53their spirit, man.
- 24:56And I used to tell people this back during that time when like when we were in business,
- 25:02I used to say, listen, all of us go into a room with two birds.
- 25:07You got a crow on one shoulder and a dove on the other.
- 25:11Feed the dove, starve the crow.
- 25:13And so what happens is when promotion comes, anytime there's a promotion, and that's
- 25:18where we are right now, you're at the beginning of this year and God is wanting to promote
- 25:23people who will be obedient to do what he asked them to do.
- 25:26That's why I have the goals to grow.
- 25:29Those people are being attacked.
- 25:31And one of the things that happens in the attack is old past iniquitous structures.
- 25:37So whatever it is that you got delivered from or got set free from, all of a sudden, wham,
- 25:43wham, crazy thoughts and these things start to come back.
- 25:47And it could be, you know, being critical, judgmental, it can be poverty, or like, you
- 25:53know, it can be sexual, it can be all over the place.
- 25:56It doesn't make any difference.
- 25:58But anytime there's a promotion, the enemy always tries to dig up trash on you and bring
- 26:02it into your head to try to make you feel unworthy for the promotion.
- 26:09What's the first level practical step that someone can do after a sin or a series of
- 26:19sins trying to correct that?
- 26:22What's that base level thing that they can do to create, manifest blessings from the
- 26:28sin?
- 26:29Godly sorrow with repentance.
- 26:34And I've got my Bible here, I'm going to try to find it.
- 26:37But anyway, what David used to pray, you know, and David had the same challenges we just
- 26:42talked about.
- 26:44And he said, Lord, I don't have to go find it because I pray it every day.
- 26:49Father God in Yeshua's name, search me and know me for I desire truth in my inward parts.
- 26:53Lord, wherever this root of this sin is coming from, I repent.
- 26:58And I ask Lord that in Jesus name, I choose to uproot.
- 27:03I uproot this inequitous structure and it says right here, you have set our iniquities
- 27:09before you, our secret sins in the light of your continent.
- 27:14So Lord, that's Psalm 90 verse eight.
- 27:18So Lord, I'm bringing my sin and my weakness into the light.
- 27:21I repent of it.
- 27:22And Lord, I ask you by your strength to set me free from the snare of the Fowler in Jesus
- 27:27name.
- 27:28So that's what I do.
- 27:30And that's what works.
- 27:32And we'll be right back.
- 27:34It's a new year and a new you.

- 31:19give you more practical steps to try to help you accomplish those goals that you have for
- 31:24your spiritual life, your physical life, just the overall goal setting for this calendar
- 31:30year.
- 31:33I think as we turn towards the end of this podcast, I think it's really important to
- 31:38keep perspective on that we feel like we...
- 31:45I mean, it's a fact, we all sin, right?
- 31:47And we can all get stuck in that.
- 31:52That being repentive quickly, I think is maybe one of the big takeaways that I've taken from
- 31:59this episode with you.
- 32:01Just being able to, when it happens, recognize it quickly and have a game plan.
- 32:09And so what would your advice game plan, other than what you've just shared a few seconds
- 32:14ago, what's something even simpler, right?
- 32:18Maybe is there a passage or something that like something happens, you sin, hey, I recognize
- 32:23it very quickly.
- 32:25Where can I go and jump to my Bible to just meditate in and to pray and to try to break
- 32:31what the enemy has just put on me?
- 32:33Well, one of the things you might want to do is fast and pray.
- 32:40Usually generational curses and things that have deep roots, generational curses are in
- 32:48equidist structures that you inherit through your DNA and your family, spiritual and physical
- 32:53DNA.
- 32:55So when you have those fasting, the scripture says some of those only come out with prayer
- 33:03and fasting.
- 33:04The other thing that I recommend, and a lot of it has to do with the anointing that's
- 33:12here at House of David, is water immersion or water baptism.
- 33:18So I'm going to read this scripture.
- 33:20I think this is probably, so for me, I don't miss an immersion service at House of David,
- 33:29and one of the reasons I don't, let's listen to this scripture in 2nd Colossians chapter
- 33:342 verse 11.
- 33:36It says, and in him you are the circumcision with the circumcision made without hands by
- 33:44the putting off of the body of sin.
- 33:45So that's the key.
- 33:46What we're talking about is when we're battling sin, we want to put it off so it doesn't torment
- 33:51us.
- 33:52Say, putting off the body of sin of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ, buried with
- 34:00him in baptism and water immersion, in which you also were raised with him through the
- 34:09faith of the working of God who raised him from the dead, and you being dead in trespasses.
- 34:17That's the thing is the continual sin keeps killing the blessing.
- 34:21That's what you're asking me, like, how do we maintain blessing?
- 34:24You know, you can get the blessing of the fish, but if you take it home, put it in the
- 34:28wrong tank, the fish is going to die.
- 34:30So it goes on to say that, and you being dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your
- 34:40flesh having been made alive together with him, having been forgiven, so that's the key,
- 34:47being forgiven of your trespasses.
- 34:51Verse 14, having wiped out the handwriting or the requirements that are against us, which
- 34:56is contrary to us, and he has taken out of the way, having nailed it to the cross, having,
- 35:05here's the key, water baptism, having disarmed the principalities and the power, and he says
- 35:12he made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them in that.
- 35:17That's the reason we have an immersion pool at House of David, is because it's not double
- 35:22baptism or, you baptize once into salvation, but the power of water immersion, what it
- 35:27does is it buries iniquitous structures.
- 35:31So to answer your question simply is, I would have a lifestyle of fasting and I would have
- 35:38a lifestyle of immersion to keep you, I know that's me, I've been in the immersion, well,
- 35:43I don't know how many times, but we've had literally tens of thousands of people here.
- 35:48But the reason that that's part of the lifestyle is there has to be a understanding that there's
- 35:55some times where you have to be transparent, the scripture says, confess your faults one
- 35:59to another.
- 36:00It's also important to confess your faults to God.
- 36:03Even though God sees them, I say, Lord, I failed, I've sinned, and Lord, I bring my sin before
- 36:09you, and Lord, I ask you to bury it in this water, I ask you to cut it off in this fasting,
- 36:15I ask you to remove it from me as I repent and my repentance.
- 36:25One of the things, there's two keys to revival.
- 36:29People always want revival.
- 36:30Pastors come to me and say, revival.
- 36:32I want revival in my church.
- 36:34Okay?
- 36:35If you want revival in your church, align your church with the Word of God, teach your people
- 36:40to repent, and immerse them into the revival.
- 36:43That's the steps.
- 36:44So, but the key is, most people in the West particularly take repentance as shame and
- 36:53guilt.
- 36:54Paul said there is no condemnation.
- 36:56Everybody sins.
- 36:57Everybody sins except Jesus.
- 36:59So what happens is we have to have a lifestyle of repentance.
- 37:02So fasting, water immersion, those are two things that highlight where a person, me,
- 37:12what I do is I say, Lord, I'm fasting, I confess, I can't battle this evil on my own.
- 37:17I need your help.
- 37:18I'm fasting, trusting you.
- 37:20The other one, water immersion.
- 37:21I'm going to be obedient to go into the water.
- 37:24I don't care what anybody else sees.
- 37:26It's a public immersion, but I need your help.
- 37:29I'm a sinner, and I need to bury this stuff.
- 37:33You nailed it to the cross.
- 37:34I need you to disarm the principalities and powers in this public spectacle in this water
- 37:39so I can triumph over them.
- 37:42That's why I do it.
- 37:43That's, I'm giving you the formula in which I live by.
- 37:46Do I sin again?
- 37:48Yes.
- 37:49But I can tell you one thing about me.
- 37:50I am a holy man in the sense that I try to stay away from the things that trigger my
- 37:59sin.
- 38:00I just stay away from it.
- 38:02And so one of the things in the Goals to Grow By, you know, one of the questions is, let
- 38:08me read it to you because it's so important.
- 38:15What says, what do I need to shift my mind away from so that I'm seeking His kingdom
- 38:23first?
- 38:24So I have a personal list.
- 38:25It's not written down here.
- 38:27I stay away from certain things that I know that trigger me into a sin.
- 38:36So I'm going to use an example like anger.
- 38:41I'll be personal about this one.
- 38:44I have tried, listen, I was raised in a house with sports.
- 38:49I mean my house, TV tray, sports, why were those sports?
- 38:55Football, baseball, we're in Los Angeles, went to the Rams, Angels, Dodgers, all that.
- 39:01Okay.
- 39:02We are, my family are sports fanatics.
- 39:05That's how I was raised.
- 39:06But what happened is I got upset with it when in the NFL, when they started changing this,
- 39:15just me, I don't care what people think.
- 39:17Listen, sports is an escape.
- 39:20It's entertainment.
- 39:21Okay.
- 39:22That's what it's for.
- 39:24And you need that in your life.
- 39:26But when they started doing the kneeling thing, you got to realize I'm a patriot.
- 39:30You know, I'm as Yankee doodle as they get.
- 39:33When they started doing the kneeling thing, I said, that's it for me.
- 39:36I'm not, I'm not.
- 39:38So why should I care if they kneel?
- 39:40But I had to quit watching the football because the kneeling was bringing a spirit of anger
- 39:47to which I got delivered from.
- 39:49And I didn't want to have to go back into it.
- 39:50So I just quit watching it.
- 39:52And I hated it because I used to like Sunday.
- 39:54All right, we'll, you know, fix some hot dogs.
- 39:56That was my thing.
- 39:57Hot dogs and beans, some Fritos.
- 40:00And man, we're going to watch the game.
- 40:02Okay.
- 40:03And we'd have friends come over.
- 40:05I quit doing it.
- 40:06I just said, listen, I can't do it because of that.
- 40:08So now we got past the kneeling.
- 40:10I start watching the NFL again.
- 40:12This is recent this year.
- 40:14And I just started watching again.
- 40:16And for me personally, because I'm a person of justice.
- 40:19Okay.
- 40:20Justice is a big thing.
- 40:21All this stuff with these referees, with these bad calls affecting the games.
- 40:25That's it.
- 40:26I'm not watching anymore.
- 40:27What?
- 40:28It makes me mad.
- 40:29It makes me mad.
- 40:30Okay.
- 40:31These calls.
- 40:32I mean, when Christie and I met, we worked at Harris casino.
- 40:34I know how this stuff works.
- 40:36Okay.
- 40:37So, I mean, I come out of the casino.
- 40:38I was in a casino for three years.
- 40:40I understand gambling and the stuff.
- 40:42I mean, at a deep level.
- 40:43So I'm just saying that I had to quit watching it because once I saw the call, a couple of
- 40:51these calls, and I'm thinking, just let them play, you know?
- 40:56And when games were being determined, key games because of bad calls, it made me mad
- 41:02again.
- 41:03So I'm just giving you an example.
- 41:04I'm not watching because of that.
- 41:05So I don't watch enough football anymore.
- 41:07I'm done with it.
- 41:09But that's because of me.
- 41:11Some people wouldn't get mad over it, but it really frustrates me.
- 41:14So listen, I'm want, what's my purpose of watching football?
- 41:17Entertainment, relaxation.
- 41:20When those things happen, it wasn't entertained.
- 41:22So I'm just using that.
- 41:23You can go through many, many different things.
- 41:27I don't have patience with things with long lines.
- 41:31Okay?
- 41:32So what happens is when I travel, I have to have TSA, right?
- 41:35I just like I do the TSA so I can go through the line pretty quick.
- 41:39It's a planned thing.
- 41:40There's other stuff I do when I travel because I know that it frustrates me.
- 41:46So what happens is, what am I telling you?
- 41:48I'm telling you make adjustments in your life to keep you away from the areas that trigger
- 41:53you to sin.
- 41:55Does that make sense or am I like just a cranky old man?
- 41:58No, no.
- 41:59Now, like the refs thing, I get it because I get the origin of this leads to that.
- 42:07I heard a person put it one way that when you sin, that you can't ever really break
- 42:16it.
- 42:17I mean, good chances are that you'll probably do that sin again if it's like a lower, mid,
- 42:24it's not like you did something you couldn't take back.
- 42:30But he put it this way that you have to be able to find something to replace the sin.
- 42:37Absolutely.
- 42:38Right?
- 42:39And so I guess my question is, so if it's not NFL football on Sunday for you because
- 42:45it just gets you upset, what did you replace with that time because you did enjoy getting
- 42:53hot dogs and doing that stuff with the family, what did you replace in order to get past
- 42:59that?
- 43:00Good movies.
- 43:02So like Sunday are just good movie days?
- 43:05Yeah.
- 43:06Most of the time in the winter, not in the summer.
- 43:08In the summer, obviously, in the summer we're in the pool, but no, it just, yeah, replaced
- 43:13it with movies.
- 43:14Yeah.
- 43:15Is that a pretty good practice to think of it like a smoker would chew gum instead to
- 43:21find something that's going to pivot, replace the-
- 43:25Absolutely.
- 43:26And the guy that doesn't like to stand in line gets the TSA or buys the different ways
- 43:30to enter in.
- 43:31There's ways you could upgrade the way you travel.
- 43:33And so I just do that.
- 43:35And it's because, listen, like when we flew to Israel this last time, I literally got
- 43:40off the plane, had my first meeting with the CEO of the foreign ministry.
- 43:49I was off the plane five minutes and I'm meeting.
- 43:51That's my first meeting.
- 43:53So I can't be like going into the meeting all haggard and-
- 43:57I get it.
- 43:58It was-
- 43:59It's an important meeting.
- 44:00I mean, I've had 15 minutes with one of the most important people in Israel.
- 44:04He's third in command of all of Israel and I'm meeting with him and it's like, I need
- 44:09to be at the top of my game.
- 44:11And he's the one we partnered with, with the Kenya outreach and all that.
- 44:15And listen, he's a super nice guy and he loves Christie and I, and I love him and I don't
- 44:19want him getting the leftovers.
- 44:21So what I did is I made arrangements so that when I got off the plane that I didn't have
- 44:25to go through the customs and the line and the stuff.
- 44:29We just went in, I went into a VIP lounge, let somebody else take my passport, get my
- 44:33bags so that I could meet with this guy.
- 44:37So what happened in that is literally the relationship between Kenya, this minister,
- 44:45us, Curt Landry Ministries, fulfilling what Netanyahu asked me to do.
- 44:50All that got done and it wouldn't have got done if I would have just gone the other way.
- 44:54You see what I'm saying?
- 44:56So it's like, you just have to, I don't know, there's always what, the way you said, I like
- 45:01that a replacement.
- 45:03So my replacement was, is I had a VIP pickup, met with him at actually the meeting actually
- 45:09went half an hour.
- 45:10But the point is that was the only time I could meet with him.
- 45:14That was the, and what got done is the ambassador in Kenya that we work with actually represents
- 45:22five countries in Africa battling antisemitism.
- 45:28So I mean, how important is like this, this is like serious stuff, but I can tell you
- 45:33if I wouldn't have learned how to maintain, because I know my weakness.
- 45:37The other thing is I just came off what, an 18 hour flight, you know?
- 45:41So I had to go into the bathroom and I had to shave.
- 45:44I had to change shirts, you know, wet my hair, do the whole thing.
- 45:47I have to be fresh for this guy.
- 45:49It's like, I just, and that's what we did.
- 45:50Chris did the same thing.
- 45:51Listen, we're used to this.
- 45:53We've done this.
- 45:54When we hit, we hit the ground running.
- 45:57But the point is, is that I can't do it with anger and be standing in a giant line.
- 46:02You see what I'm saying?
- 46:03It's like, I know that I'm just using it as an example that I'm not patient in those
- 46:08lines.
- 46:09So I'd stay away from them.
- 46:11Oh, well, Rabbi, this episode's been good.
- 46:17Hopefully people have been able to get some different perspective, you know, from the
- 46:22topic of how to manifest blessings, but also deal with sin.
- 46:25I wasn't really intentionally pushing the conversation that way, but I really feel like
- 46:33there's going to be a lot of value that people listen to that because it's so practical.
- 46:38It's so relational.
- 46:40And everyone deals with it.
- 46:41I think it's just part of understanding, you know, the different types of blessings and
- 46:47what everybody goes through in order to be in that favor.
- 46:51So we did a podcast the other day and I talked about like golden seeds, like there's a hundred
- 46:55golden seeds.
- 46:57So and I use the anger.
- 46:58It doesn't make any difference, whatever it is.
- 47:00Listen, everybody sins.
- 47:01What I do in my mind is I kind of like visualize the hundred seeds, knowing that if I'm going
- 47:07to lust, anger or whatever, taking offense, not repent, go into unforgiveness, that basically
- 47:14if I just kind of visualize this way, Satan's hand comes and goes, all right, I'm taking
- 47:1825 seeds from Kurt.
- 47:19Oh, there he goes again.
- 47:21There's 50.
- 47:22Listen, I need a hundred and more seeds to do.
- 47:25So what happens is I make a choice and I literally say in my own head, you know what, I can't
- 47:30afford this.
- 47:32And you know, like one of the things like we always joke about, it's not so much a
- 47:35big deal anymore.
- 47:36We've gotten over it, but I used to get really angry at the airport.
- 47:41Like when they would, when they start messing around with it, you know, they canceled the
- 47:44flight.
- 47:45They do this.
- 47:46They do what, whatever, you know, like, like they close the door, the plane's still there.
- 47:52You know, you're flying business class and they won't let you get on the plane and you're
- 47:56going, wait a minute.
- 47:57Yeah.
- 47:58Well, no, we've shut the door and, and, and, and they're still there.
- 48:01They can open the door.
- 48:02You go in, turn left and oh no, all that crazy.
- 48:05No, you're going to have to wait till you know, whatever.
- 48:08And so I'll give you an example.
- 48:12My spirit, which I call the spirit of murder, because literally, listen, I was raised in
- 48:18Los Angeles in the fifties and the sixties.
- 48:23And I came from a angry, violent community.
- 48:29Okay.
- 48:30And so I had to be delivered from all that.
- 48:33But I really don't like people disrespecting, dishonoring, like over, like the power because
- 48:40the person's at the counter and it's like, I am going to exercise my power over you.
- 48:45And I have no compassion to try of what's going to happen on the other side that when
- 48:50you miss this flight.
- 48:51Okay.
- 48:52So the way I dealt with this was I don't travel alone.
- 48:57Always travel with Christie.
- 48:58Christie is the most merciful, long suffering, peaceful.
- 49:02Very nice.
- 49:04I go and sit down over there.
- 49:07Lord, I repent because I want to kill them.
- 49:10I repent.
- 49:11I close my eyes, Lord, I'm praying for her.
- 49:13She can do it.
- 49:14Lord, please forgive me.
- 49:17Don't let my sin of wanting to kill the entire Delta airlines, you know, right now.
- 49:22I mean, I'm just like, Lord, I know me.
- 49:24I know how I am.
- 49:25I know where I come from.
- 49:27So I repent.
- 49:28But what I do is I let her intercede.
- 49:29She goes up and almost every time they get with her, it's like, oh, yes, Mrs. Landry.
- 49:33Oh, come on.
- 49:34And then she's over here like going, come on, baby.
- 49:36And I'm like, all right, here we go.
- 49:37But if it was me, it was like, it's not going to happen.
- 49:41And so not so much anymore.
- 49:42Actually, she'll tell you, she says, I actually do good right now.
- 49:44I'm kind of past it.
- 49:45I guess I got old enough.
- 49:46I'm doesn't bother me as much.
- 49:48But my point is you have to make plans to say, I can't afford to get angry, particularly
- 49:56now for me at an airport.
- 49:58When I'm in an airport, I'm a public enough figure that people see me and I can't be acting
- 50:03stupid.
- 50:04So Christi goes up, that's our plan.
- 50:07She takes care of it.
- 50:09And so that I don't commit the sin of anger, so to say, and all the hundred seeds of blessing,
- 50:15Satan doesn't come and say, oh, Kurt blew it again at the counter.
- 50:17Here's 50 seeds gone for you.
- 50:20Christi go up and then the Lord says, oh, she's so good at it.
- 50:22Let's add 150 seeds.
- 50:25But that's pretty much my advice with find out what Christi and I do.
- 50:29I know my strengths.
- 50:30She knows her strengths.
- 50:31My weaknesses.
- 50:32We're very real.
- 50:34And like she says, we make one good Christian together.
- 50:38My weaknesses, I do what she and literally we're at a space right now.
- 50:45We can't travel separate.
- 50:47We have to be together.
- 50:48Well, first of all, we want to be together.
- 50:50We're a team.
- 50:52But the thing is, is that we know she knows that I take care of like there's details I
- 50:57handle that don't bother me like with parking the car, getting the thing over at fine parking.
- 51:02I mean, we travel enough.
- 51:03Everybody knows us in the airport.
- 51:05So everything we do, everything we get, everything.
- 51:07And they're so happy and they're very kind to us.
- 51:09I'm not talking about Tulsa Airport.
- 51:11But when you're okay, when you're outside of that, like let's say you're, you know,
- 51:17in I won't mention names.
- 51:19But anyway, there's other countries that aren't so great when you come up.
- 51:23But that's why I just as soon as as soon as I start seeing it going sideways, I literally
- 51:27just step back two or three steps, turn my face, don't make eye contact.
- 51:32And then she goes, well, sweetheart, this is what we need to do.
- 51:37And they do it.
- 51:38It's like she's like, it's like she's an angel.
- 51:41She goes up and then I sit back and I say, Lord, thank you.
- 51:44Thank you.
- 51:45Thank you, Lord.
- 51:46I had the thought, but I didn't engage it with my mouth.
- 51:48I don't know if that helps anybody.
- 51:49No, I think that's great.
- 51:52Yeah, I mean, like everybody needs to to to figure that out.
- 51:58And it's great if you have someone, if you're married, that you can lean on someone like
- 52:03that.
- 52:04And if you're not, that's that's that's also very different.
- 52:08But you can take a lot of the things that we've talked about in this episode to try
- 52:11to help create those barriers and those pivot moments and have a game plan and have a strategy
- 52:17on how to handle this type of thing and how to manifest blessings.
- 52:24And don't lose them.
- 52:25And don't lose them.
- 52:27That's the key is you don't want to lose your blessing.
- 52:29And if you can mentally take anything from this podcast is imagine the Lord giving you
- 52:35something and then you sin and it's taken away.
- 52:39So like when you choose, like you're going to go in to do something to think, you know
- 52:43what, I I've worked so hard to get this blessing, I'm not going to let the enemy steal it.
- 52:49If you can get that mental thing is like what I say in my head, I say I can't afford this.
- 52:55And I listen, I take I have fun with myself.
- 52:58I say, you know what?
- 52:59You're so good at getting angry.
- 53:01You're good at you perfected it.
- 53:03Listen, you're like third generation angry.
- 53:05My dad got angry.
- 53:06Good.
- 53:07My god, you know, and you know, my biological because I got reconnected.
- 53:11It's like, listen, we are good at it.
- 53:13We are good at being frustrated, angry and saying stupid stuff to people when we're angry.
- 53:18We're good.
- 53:19I would and actually feels good for about five seconds when you're actually doing it.
- 53:23You're like, man, I get to let I get to let the steam out of the teapot.
- 53:29You know, but all it does if you close with this, if you think of a teapot, what is it
- 53:34does when it boils, it whistles.
- 53:36And as soon as that whistle goes off, the enemy hears the whistle like a dog and he
- 53:40comes and steals your blessing.
- 53:42So guess what?
- 53:43Repent, go to your stove, turn off the heat and let the teapot settle.
- 53:51Don't let it whistle because once it whistles, the enemies come in with all he's got to steal
- 53:56your blessings.
- 53:57It's so good.
- 53:59Well we hope this episode has helped you.
