- 0:05Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Here with his tech talk, his update here. Jonathan Deezing. J.D.
- 0:09Speaker 1: is the host of, one.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Of the hosts. Yes.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Of the 2, 3-Bit Gamer Show.
- 0:13Speaker 2: 3-Bit Gamer Show.
- 0:14Speaker 1: 3-Bit Gamer Show. And it's every week. Yep. Just discussing.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Every Tuesday.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Games and all of that.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Yeah, game news and culture.
- 0:21Speaker 1: All right. So what have you got for us today?
- 0:23Speaker 2: I got a lot of games. If you guys weren't aware,
- 0:27Speaker 2: if you've been living under a rock, the newest Grand
- 0:29Speaker 2: Theft Auto game is coming out in November.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Even I have heard that. I know.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And it's going to be probably the biggest video game
- 0:35Speaker 2: release of all time. Maybe the biggest media release of
- 0:37Speaker 2: all time. Possibly, yeah. And so all the other game
- 0:41Speaker 2: studios in the world are in a rush to get
- 0:43Speaker 2: their games out now, which is why we have a
- 0:46Speaker 2: ton of games coming out this month, a couple more
- 0:48Speaker 2: trickling out in October, and then there will be a
- 0:50Speaker 2: black hole probably for months ahead surrounding that November release
- 0:54Speaker 2: so we got a lot I'll go through them really
- 0:56Speaker 2: quick uh the first one up here is Halloween the
- 0:58Speaker 2: game this is an asymmetrical horror game where you play
- 1:02Speaker 2: with your friends it's based on the movie uh Halloween
- 1:05Speaker 2: and so you can play as scared townspeople running around
- 1:08Speaker 2: trying to avoid Michael Myers or you can play as
- 1:10Speaker 2: Michael Myers who kind of lumbers he can't be killed
- 1:13Speaker 2: he can be like captured temporarily by police but generally
- 1:16Speaker 2: you're just kind of like lumbering after these people who
- 1:18Speaker 2: are working together and trying to escape him so Spooky,
- 1:22Speaker 2: kind of crazy. It's out now already on Xbox, PlayStation,
- 1:25Speaker 2: and PC. Next up is Valheim. This is essentially just
- 1:29Speaker 2: Minecraft with Vikings. Yeah, so you're mining, refining, building, and
- 1:33Speaker 2: then you do some more mining, fight some enemies. um
- 1:36Speaker 2: you go sailing it's i mean it is fantastic if
- 1:40Speaker 2: you're into these types of building survival games it's.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Super fun it's technically been out for a couple years
- 1:44Speaker 3: but it just had its official.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah so in its 1.0 release um which is out
- 1:49Speaker 2: now and it's on everything like i said it's great
- 1:51Speaker 2: to play with friends it's there's peaceful parts of it
- 1:54Speaker 2: that are really enjoyable and then there's kind of crazy
- 1:56Speaker 2: action it's.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Hard i've sworn a lot it's very.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Difficult speaking of crazy action marvel's wolverine uh this comes
- 2:03Speaker 2: from the same guys that were making those spider-man games
- 2:05Speaker 2: on the playstation.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Last spider-man games were really.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Good yep so if you're a fan of those you'll
- 2:09Speaker 2: probably be a fan of this it's you know obviously
- 2:12Speaker 2: going to be a different flavor because it's wolverine and
- 2:15Speaker 2: it's kind of a very typical wolverine story where someone's
- 2:19Speaker 2: trying to kill mutants and he's stabbing them He's kind
- 2:22Speaker 2: of the defender of the mutants. So that's out today,
- 2:25Speaker 2: actually comes out today on the PlayStation 5 only. Next up,
- 2:29Speaker 2: Graveyard Keeper 2. This is a little smaller title. If
- 2:32Speaker 2: you guys have heard of Stardew Valley, these kind of
- 2:34Speaker 2: cozy management sims where you're like planting crops and meeting
- 2:38Speaker 2: people around the town. This is that, but with zombies.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You are tending a medieval graveyard. That's your job. And
- 2:46Speaker 2: you kind of defend your town from attacks. It's cute.
- 2:50Speaker 2: um the the first one was very well received everyone
- 2:52Speaker 2: loved it um it's out next tuesday on just about
- 2:55Speaker 2: everything all right um last two here control resonant if
- 2:58Speaker 2: you guys remember 2019 uh the game control which where
- 3:03Speaker 2: you're you're the the plot surrounds there's this building in
- 3:06Speaker 2: new york and it's the headquarters of a shadowy government
- 3:09Speaker 2: organization that yeah it's like x files kind of a
- 3:12Speaker 2: vibe but like Really freaky stuff.
- 3:14Speaker 1: People love that game.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's amazing. It's incredible. And so now you play
- 3:18Speaker 2: as the main characters from that game's brother and all
- 3:22Speaker 2: of the freaky crap has escaped into New York. Oh,
- 3:25Speaker 2: of course. Oh, so that one looks incredible. It's out
- 3:29Speaker 2: on September 24th on a PS5, Xbox, PC and Mac.
- 3:34Speaker 2: So Mac gamers rejoice. And the last one here is
- 3:37Speaker 2: Silent Hill Townfall.
- 3:39Speaker 4: How many Silent Hill games are there now?
- 3:41Speaker 2: Enough. There's enough. But this one is a standalone, not
- 3:45Speaker 2: related to any of the others. It's set in 1996 Scotland,
- 3:51Speaker 2: which is crazy because all the other ones are set in, like,
- 3:52Speaker 2: middle America. Very specific.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Why?
- 3:55Speaker 2: Because the developers are from Scotland. And so I guess
- 3:57Speaker 2: you just make what you know. But this is, like,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you know, a freaky town covered in fog. And you're
- 4:02Speaker 2: trying to stay alive. And there's, you know, crazy nightmare
- 4:05Speaker 2: things coming out. If you know Silent Hill, if you
- 4:07Speaker 2: like to be scared, this is a perfect October game.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And the name, Townfall? I mean, it doesn't get better
- 4:13Speaker 2: than that. All right. Okay, so on to the fun
- 4:15Speaker 2: internet stuff. This is something I found when I was
- 4:19Speaker 2: looking at one of our recent rainstorms. But it's called
- 4:22Speaker 2: Zoom Earth and Zoom.Earth. And it's basically just a big
- 4:27Speaker 2: weather map. But I could not stop playing with this because...
- 4:31Speaker 2: I realized, or I read somewhere that one of our
- 4:34Speaker 2: big storms that we had recently was the arm of
- 4:38Speaker 2: a hurricane. that had just kind of, like, whoops, swept
- 4:41Speaker 2: up into Utah from the Pacific. Happens. And I was
- 4:45Speaker 2: blown away watching this map, and you can click on
- 4:47Speaker 2: specific tropical storms or hurricanes all around the world. It'll
- 4:51Speaker 2: show you their path. It'll show you, like, where they
- 4:54Speaker 2: were or where they're projected to be. I mean, I
- 4:57Speaker 2: felt like a meteorologist clicking around in this thing.
- 4:59Speaker 1: This is pretty cool.
- 5:00Speaker 2: But it's intuitive, right? Like, you can, even if you're, like,
- 5:03Speaker 2: you're not a meteorologist, like, you can understand what's happening
- 5:06Speaker 2: on the map and... I just couldn't stop clicking around.
- 5:09Speaker 2: And so, like, especially if there's, like, crazy weather going on,
- 5:12Speaker 2: it's fun to see where it's coming from. Because, yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 2: I was like, wow, this was just hanging out, chilling
- 5:17Speaker 2: in the– this was just a little storm in the Pacific.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Now it's raining in Utah, and I'm getting that. So
- 5:22Speaker 2: that was fun. Zoom.Earth. The next one up here, my
- 5:26Speaker 2: lovely sister actually shared this with me, is RetroCodex, which
- 5:31Speaker 2: is a website that lets you show you what you
- 5:34Speaker 2: learned wrong– as a kid, or I don't know, maybe
- 5:37Speaker 2: if you were older, but you click on a decade
- 5:40Speaker 2: and it just kind of, I think you can sort different,
- 5:42Speaker 2: there's other different ways to sort, but it will show
- 5:46Speaker 2: you how things that you were taught wrong in your
- 5:50Speaker 2: youth or in those, by those decades, which is just
- 5:54Speaker 2: kind of fun to click around. And I mean, there's
- 5:56Speaker 2: things in there that you're like, oh, I didn't know.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I guess I didn't realize that.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Oh, this is fascinating. Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 4: I mean, there's some debunking of old beliefs. Like lightning
- 6:08Speaker 4: never strikes twice in the same place.
- 6:10Speaker 2: That's not true. Right. And then it will kind of
- 6:13Speaker 2: explain it to you.
- 6:14Speaker 4: If you throw a penny off the Empire State Building,
- 6:16Speaker 4: it could kill someone walking on the ground below.
- 6:18Speaker 1: That's not true.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I'm looking at– because, yeah, it's when you graduated. I
- 6:24Speaker 3: graduated in the 2010s. It says– the myth is eating
- 6:29Speaker 3: mangoes with milk is harmful.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Oh.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I hadn't heard that one either. Had I, but the
- 6:33Speaker 2: explanation is fascinating, right?
- 6:35Speaker 3: There is no, I don't know about this one. There's
- 6:37Speaker 3: no evidence that combining mangoes with milk is harmful.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 2: But yeah, they said it was a, it was a
- 6:42Speaker 2: campaign in Brazil to, because to reduce the amount of
- 6:46Speaker 2: dairy that people were consuming.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah. That's the second half there.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Uh, the inspiration for Santa Claus came from the North pole, uh, St.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Nicholas that that's the myth.
- 6:55Speaker 1: And the truth is St.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Nicholas was a Bishop from Myra in present day and
- 7:00Speaker 3: antelope turkey uh the north pole origin is a later
- 7:06Speaker 3: cultural addition and not part of the historical record so
- 7:08Speaker 3: you can filter it by what's taught in school and
- 7:11Speaker 3: folk wisdom.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah exactly which is i mean i'm i'm a sucker
- 7:15Speaker 2: for trivia i love trivia so this is like right
- 7:18Speaker 2: up my alley i'm like oh i love love learn.
- 7:20Speaker 1: You know i like like this one on mine it
- 7:22Speaker 1: says you remember the stanford prison experiment yeah who showed
- 7:26Speaker 1: how everybody could become abusive if given enough power. Well,
- 7:30Speaker 1: the experiment used a very homogeneous group of participants who
- 7:33Speaker 1: were explicitly encouraged to display abusive behavior. Replication attempts of
- 7:38Speaker 1: this experiment have failed to yield similar results. So it's
- 7:42Speaker 1: just bunk.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, the whole thing was just bogus. And then the
- 7:46Speaker 2: last one here is really quick. It's called the Rasturbator. What?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Spell that.
- 7:53Speaker 2: R-A-S-T-E-R-B-A-T-O-R, Rasturbator.net, which is a lot different than what it sounds.
- 8:00Speaker 2: It basically lets you blow up images so you can
- 8:03Speaker 2: print them off on your computer. So say you have
- 8:06Speaker 2: an image that you're like, I want to print this
- 8:08Speaker 2: off in eight and a half by 11 sheets on
- 8:11Speaker 2: my home printer. And then assemble those all together like
- 8:15Speaker 2: a puzzle and put them on my wall. This will
- 8:17Speaker 2: do that for you.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Really?
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah. It's really cool.
- 8:20Speaker 1: That's incredible.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I'm just itching to blow up a photo right now.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I got a rasturbator. This is just something.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Nick, are you rasturbating in there?
- 8:29Speaker 3: No.
- 8:29Speaker 1: No.
- 8:29Speaker 3: What you're hearing on the walls is me putting a
- 8:33Speaker 3: poster up.
- 8:34Speaker 2: It's a poster, Mom. Uh, yeah. So I, you know,
- 8:37Speaker 2: there's use cases for this. I think, I think like
- 8:39Speaker 2: maybe teachers that want to put up a big, a
- 8:42Speaker 2: big old sign or something like that in their classroom
- 8:45Speaker 2: and you can just print it off. I mean, pretty quickly. Uh,
- 8:48Speaker 2: and then you just kind of assemble it and slap
- 8:50Speaker 2: it on there. But yeah, rasturbator.net kind of a cool
- 8:52Speaker 2: tool that I stumbled across.
- 8:54Speaker 1: What is that name though?
- 8:55Speaker 2: Why, why? It's all marketing, right? You got people talking
- 8:59Speaker 2: about it. You got people rasturbating.
- 9:01Speaker 1: All right. J.D., Jonathan Deising, thank you so much. I
- 9:06Speaker 1: know you got cookies to sell.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I do. I heard you guys talking about cookies beforehand,
- 9:10Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, I have mad opinions on that.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But most of the ones on that list are pretty good,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I thought.
- 9:16Speaker 2: The Samoa ones, those Keebler ones, I would strongly recommend
- 9:20Speaker 2: because we do use those for one of our cookies.
- 9:22Speaker 2: The Walmart-branded ones, which I'm not a Walmart guy, but
- 9:25Speaker 2: the Walmart-branded ones taste way better than the Keebler ones.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah, or the Winkel ones. They're both better.
- 9:30Speaker 1: There you go. Jonathan, if you don't know, works for...
- 9:33Speaker 1: Crave Cookies. Crave Cookies, that's right. All right, Jonathan Deising,
- 9:36Speaker 1: 3 Big Gamer Show, and every Tuesday is when that drops.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Every Tuesday.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Nice to see you. Thank you very much. Thanks, guys.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Thank you.
