- 2:57Speaker 2: promise you I'm gonna try. I am going to try

- 3:15Speaker 2: friend Twaine saying, what's the show today? Here's my answer,
- 3:26Speaker 2: I don't really know. There is so much that I
- 3:30Speaker 2: have to talk about. I think I'm gonna go out
- 3:34Speaker 2: on a limb here. I think by the end of
- 3:36Speaker 2: the week, you're probably if you don't already think that
- 3:42Speaker 2: I'm crazy, I think by the end of this week,
- 3:47Speaker 2: it's likely that you may possibly think that I am crazy.

- 5:17Speaker 2: sunshine and right back into the eighties. Look out for
- 5:27Speaker 2: some of the road construction areas this morning they're everywhere.
- 5:32Speaker 2: This is game time for Vtrans and all of the
- 5:37Speaker 2: construction companies that are trying to get it done before
- 5:42Speaker 2: summer wraps up. Please slow down, take it easy, stay
- 5:45Speaker 2: off the phone, be careful driving, not only this morning,
- 5:49Speaker 2: but also this whole week and next week too. Today
- 5:54Speaker 2: is National Faheated Day. Today, we are eleven days to
- 5:59Speaker 2: Labor Day. We kent eleven seventeen days to the NFL
- 6:05Speaker 2: season kicking off seventeen.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Time is flying. It is August.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Eighteenth birthdays today, and then we're gonna dive in. Ed
- 6:19Speaker 2: Norton fifty six years old, star of The Incredible Hulk,
- 6:25Speaker 2: unfortunately wasn't asked to return for the Avengers because well,
- 6:30Speaker 2: he's apparently too difficult to work with. I guess people
- 6:35Speaker 2: just don't like him when he's angry. Christian Slater fifty
- 6:39Speaker 2: six as well. Bob Woodruff sixty four, Dennis Leary sixty eight.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Robert Redford is still alive eighty nine years old today,
- 6:52Speaker 2: right eron Vermont, Rachel Putvin, Crystal Bresett, Deanna or Danne Rather,
- 6:59Speaker 2: Dan Said, Nancy Zorn, Audrey Mason, Jessica Gore, Marie Elizabeth
- 7:06Speaker 2: Ethan Smith Colby, Raoul Elease, Valentine, Brianna mclarky and I
- 7:13Speaker 2: always saved the best for last. Dona Patress love that
- 7:19Speaker 2: lady so much. While I was away last week and
- 7:26Speaker 2: Sherylyn got on me a few times. She doesn't like
- 7:31Speaker 2: it at all. When we're on vacation spending time with
- 7:39Speaker 2: a family, when I sneak a peek at my phone
- 7:46Speaker 2: or post something up, but it seems like every time
- 7:56Speaker 2: I took a glance at my phone just to see
- 8:00Speaker 2: what's you know, what's going on in the world. Where
- 8:02Speaker 2: the hell is this hurricane? How far out in the
- 8:06Speaker 2: ocean is it going? Are we going to be impacted
- 8:08Speaker 2: here in New England, which, by the way, we are
- 8:14Speaker 2: a little bit not much. They're tracking this thing. They're
- 8:17Speaker 2: looking at the what spaghetti models, and I guess it
- 8:22Speaker 2: may possibly be tracking just a pinch to the west now,
- 8:28Speaker 2: which means outer banks could be feeling some effects. Really,
- 8:36Speaker 2: the whole coast of New England is going to be
- 8:39Speaker 2: feeling some some some rip currents and some some larger
- 8:44Speaker 2: than normal waves. But I think for the most part
- 8:50Speaker 2: that's going to be it. But you know, just just
- 8:57Speaker 2: you know, glance down at the phone, and I'm seeing
- 9:00Speaker 2: that the whole chaos of everything going on in Washington,
- 9:05Speaker 2: d C. I'm like, wow, what, what's you know? And
- 9:12Speaker 2: I've got like five seconds to look at the phone
- 9:15Speaker 2: and i see National Guard Washington d c uh and
- 9:19Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my god, that whole thing. Just trying
- 9:23Speaker 2: to keep up with that alone, I could one could
- 9:29Speaker 2: spend all day just following what's going on in DC.
- 9:36Speaker 2: And then, of course it took a took a glance
- 9:40Speaker 2: at some of the Vermont stories that that were trending
- 9:46Speaker 2: last week, Governor Scott bringing back state workers back to
- 9:49Speaker 2: the office, and all I did was share that story,
- 9:59Speaker 2: which I think was from CIX. It could have been PTZ,
- 10:02Speaker 2: I don't remember. But all I did was share it
- 10:05Speaker 2: to air it out. And it was like hitting a
- 10:14Speaker 2: bee's nest with a tennis racket. Holy crap. It's like
- 10:21Speaker 2: two days later I had back on and I have
- 10:23Speaker 2: a look at this and I'm like, oh my god.
- 10:26Speaker 2: People are just freaking out about that. I was even
- 10:30Speaker 2: shamed for sharing that. One lady I can't remember her name,
- 10:39Speaker 2: damn it, but her comments on there thought that I
- 10:45Speaker 2: guess she thought that I wrote this story that I
- 10:48Speaker 2: was reporting on that story. Didn't see that it was
- 10:54Speaker 2: just a link from w CX or PTC that I
- 11:00Speaker 2: was sharing. That I didn't write the story. She thought
- 11:09Speaker 2: I did, I guess, and it started attacking me and
- 11:14Speaker 2: I can't again, I can't remember her name. But please,
- 11:16Speaker 2: if you're listening this morning, it was not my decision
- 11:21Speaker 2: to bring back state workers back to the office. I
- 11:30Speaker 2: guess this is going to be happening over the course
- 11:33Speaker 2: of some time now through the fall, but I need
- 11:38Speaker 2: to read more. I need to get caught up more.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I admit that I've been checked out for a week. God,
- 11:47Speaker 2: you know. And then I wake up this morning and
- 11:49Speaker 2: I'm like, some guy in Berlin is jumping out in
- 11:52Speaker 2: front of cars wearing dark clothes, trying to get hit
- 11:56Speaker 2: by a car.
- 11:58Speaker 4: What the hell is going on on? Man? Sh sports?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Red Sox fell to the Marlins five to three last night,
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yankees take the cards eight to four. I don't even
- 12:18Speaker 2: know where to begin to take my dive this morning.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I have a couple of questions for you, But first,
- 12:26Speaker 2: please know this. Five dollars Tuesdays are back at the
- 12:29Speaker 2: Capitol Theater and five dollars Wednesdays are back at the

- 12:46Speaker 2: Fantastic Four, First Step, sketch.

- 13:53Speaker 2: need that to look new again. You need that cleaned up.

- 14:56Speaker 2: No matter who you are, what you do rick Yarish
- 15:01Speaker 2: on Wednesday will put goosebumps on your goosebumps. And then

- 15:32Speaker 2: tell you straight up right, I'm gonna level with you.
- 15:36Speaker 4: About something. G has.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Absolutely completely no idea what he's getting into this Thursday.
- 15:47Speaker 2: He is going to walk into this studio. I'm going
- 15:51Speaker 2: to turn the cameras on and his microphone on, and
- 15:53Speaker 2: I am going to lambast him.
- 15:56Speaker 4: He has.
- 15:58Speaker 2: No idea. I Thursday is going to be like Christmas
- 16:06Speaker 2: Morning for me. I cannot wait to share with you.
- 16:11Speaker 4: And I'm gonna tell G a story.
- 16:17Speaker 2: And I you know, I kind of told Glenn also,
- 16:24Speaker 2: I have a story for you all on Thursday that
- 16:29Speaker 2: is so outrageous that I have asked Chrylyn to come
- 16:37Speaker 2: in here or join me by telephone to give her
- 16:44Speaker 2: version of it, just to make sure that I'm you know,
- 16:49Speaker 2: staying in my parameters and not exaggerating anything. And I
- 16:56Speaker 2: don't know if that'll happen on Thursday. I don't know
- 16:58Speaker 2: if she'll join me by phone or if she'll come in.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I don't know, but I have something. And I said
- 17:07Speaker 2: to Sherlyn, I'm like, how am I possibly gonna talk
- 17:11Speaker 2: about this on the air. No one's gonna believe me,
- 17:15Speaker 2: and she laughed real good and she's like, I know
- 17:20Speaker 2: no one's gonna believe you, but I'm gonna tell you
- 17:24Speaker 2: anyways on Thursday, God willing, and I literally cannot wait.
- 17:31Speaker 4: It's gonna be amazing.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I even called g and I'm like, gee, I don't
- 17:38Speaker 2: I don't even I have to tell you a story.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And I'm like, you're not gonna believe She's like, nope,
- 17:43Speaker 2: I don't want to hear it. Please wait till Thursday.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Please wait, he says to me. So that's what I'm
- 17:52Speaker 2: gonna do. And of course Friday, Rex and I are
- 17:55Speaker 2: gonna take a deep dive to kick off your weekend.
- 17:57Speaker 2: It is going to be a great week. Please let
- 18:01Speaker 2: me look you square in the eye. If you had
- 18:04Speaker 2: a rough week last week, if you had a rough weekend,
- 18:10Speaker 2: let's start anew, let's start fresh. Let's have a great
- 18:16Speaker 2: week together.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Okay.
- 18:19Speaker 2: First of all, Secondly, thank you for starting your week
- 18:24Speaker 2: your morning with me this morning. I love this and
- 18:30Speaker 2: I look forward to it all the time, connecting with
- 18:33Speaker 2: you and having a laugh with you and getting serious too. Ah,
- 18:46Speaker 2: there's I know that I'm going to be all over
- 18:51Speaker 2: the road this morning. I'm aware of that. I know
- 18:55Speaker 2: I'm going to be changing it up and talking about
- 18:57Speaker 2: different things, and that's just part of that's just part
- 19:07Speaker 2: of how it is here because it's live. This isn't
- 19:12Speaker 2: some fancy pants post produced podcast. This is a live
- 19:19Speaker 2: morning show Monday through Friday, right here on North Main
- 19:26Speaker 2: Street and Berry where the sun is shining.
- 19:28Speaker 4: It's beautiful.
- 19:30Speaker 2: I'm just getting a text here from Linda Mercy, who
- 19:33Speaker 2: is going to be dropping off some posters to put
- 19:37Speaker 2: up in the window here. Of course, we're talking about
- 19:41Speaker 2: the Nodes Family Benefit, which is coming up this weekend,
- 19:47Speaker 2: so she's going to be bringing by some posters. I'll
- 19:50Speaker 2: have those up in the window, and you bet we're
- 19:52Speaker 2: going to be talking a lot about it. Mark Tatro
- 19:54Speaker 2: is going to be on the air with me. Loretta
- 19:57Speaker 2: is going to be on the air with me. Not
- 20:01Speaker 2: sure exactly when, but I'm guessing either Tuesday or Wednesday,
- 20:05Speaker 2: it's gonna be. I'm telling it's gonna be a busy week.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Let's see what else I'm also seeing here. This is
- 20:16Speaker 2: a fresh information about the Nodes Family Benefit. You're hearing
- 20:19Speaker 2: this now live as I'm getting the info. The Bible
- 20:24Speaker 2: Baptist Church is going to be running hot dogs and
- 20:27Speaker 2: hamburgers at the concession stand for the Nodes Family Benefit.
- 20:33Speaker 2: They still need silent auction items. Linda Mercy is collecting
- 20:39Speaker 2: those silent auction items. Yes, there's going to be a
- 20:43Speaker 2: silent auction for the Nodes Family Benefit this coming Saturday,
- 20:48Speaker 2: starting at what time? Two pm? They still need someone
- 20:56Speaker 2: for ice cream or dessert, So if you can help out,
- 21:03Speaker 2: I would say the best point of contact would be
- 21:07Speaker 2: Mark Tetrow and everybody in their brother knows Mark Tetrow,
- 21:14Speaker 2: Tatro's appliance, supporting sponsor of the aired Ow podcast. By
- 21:19Speaker 2: the way, UH admission is by donation on Saturday. Please,
- 21:36Speaker 2: if you can make it on Saturday, please give what
- 21:42Speaker 2: you can to get into this, this Nodes Family Benefit.
- 21:46Speaker 2: This is a family with nine children who moved here
- 21:51Speaker 2: to Vermont.
- 21:53Speaker 4: To start a.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Start a farm and their barn burned down in April
- 22:03Speaker 2: and they lost not only the barn but two hundred livestock.
- 22:11Speaker 4: They need help.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Vermont's going to be stepping up to help them in
- 22:17Speaker 2: every and any capacity that we as Veronners can, whether
- 22:23Speaker 2: it's to rebuild, whatever it is. And this coming Saturday
- 22:27Speaker 2: is gonna be amazing live music, Dave Keller, Jamie Lee, Thurston,
- 22:32Speaker 2: Shane McGrath, Donna, thunder Heartless. It's going to be an
- 22:39Speaker 2: amazing day. Lions Club is going to be doing games.
- 22:42Speaker 2: We got rickshawcet and real bounds that's going to be
- 22:46Speaker 2: making sure the kids are having fun and maybe some
- 22:51Speaker 2: adults who could be getting into the bouncy houses, including yours. Truly,
- 22:56Speaker 2: I don't know. Incredible food. Randy Henry is going to
- 23:00Speaker 2: be cooking it up. There's going to be food trucks there.
- 23:03Speaker 2: There's going to be a beer garden from the Cornerstone
- 23:06Speaker 2: that's going to be providing that. Powet Farm's going to
- 23:09Speaker 2: be providing the corn. All proceeds going to the Nodes family.
- 23:17Speaker 2: It's going to be awesome, yes, Glenn. And the weather
- 23:22Speaker 2: is going to be better than great. It's going to
- 23:24Speaker 2: be perfect. This past week, one of the things that
- 23:32Speaker 2: I was trying to keep track of what was happening
- 23:38Speaker 2: is what was going on with Granite City Blast Baseball,
- 23:43Speaker 2: who went to Cooperstown. Jake Larrabee is on the line
- 23:46Speaker 2: with me. Good morning, buddy, how are you g man?
- 23:50Speaker 2: I'm doing great. Please tell me tell me about the kids.
- 23:55Speaker 2: How did they do. I mean I saw your posts,
- 23:58Speaker 2: saw the pictures, but they made it to Cooper's Tom Brow,
- 24:04Speaker 2: we made it.
- 24:06Speaker 5: I have not seen a group of twelve year old
- 24:09Speaker 5: eleven and twelve year old boys much happier, you know,
- 24:13Speaker 5: that love playing baseball, and really the baseball was a
- 24:17Speaker 5: small piece of it.
- 24:17Speaker 6: I mean, obviously it was the huge centerpiece of it.
- 24:20Speaker 6: But living in the bunks with there's one hundred and
- 24:24Speaker 6: four teams that competed this past week from California, Wisconsin, Washington,
- 24:32Speaker 6: all over the country, and all of these boys watching
- 24:38Speaker 6: them in their little bunk village, made friends quickly.
- 24:42Speaker 3: And they were just it was like they were hanging
- 24:44Speaker 3: out with their bros.
- 24:47Speaker 5: And they all got along great, and they had a blast,
- 24:50Speaker 5: and they played a lot of baseball and.
- 24:52Speaker 6: They faced some competition that was.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Pretty spectacular. Next level, oh absolutely. You know, there was
- 25:04Speaker 3: a lot of home runs hit.
- 25:06Speaker 6: By by some kids and it didn't matter.
- 25:09Speaker 3: You know, one game they got mercy ruled, so they
- 25:14Speaker 3: were they lost.
- 25:15Speaker 5: They were down by twelve, I guess in the after
- 25:18Speaker 5: the fourth inning, and they walked off the.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Field with a smile.
- 25:23Speaker 5: You know, they were they were high fiving kids as
- 25:25Speaker 5: they hit home runs round in the bases past them.
- 25:27Speaker 5: I really just had an absolutely wonderful time, and we
- 25:30Speaker 5: played well, we represented well.
- 25:33Speaker 3: We got complimented on our.
- 25:34Speaker 6: Sportsmanship by by the officials a couple of times, which was.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Obviously a highlight for parents.
- 25:42Speaker 5: And we had a couple of our kids that got their.
- 25:44Speaker 3: First home runs as well, so it was very exciting.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Listen, man, that is that is such a direct reflection
- 25:56Speaker 2: of you and the rest of the parents who have
- 26:01Speaker 2: raised these kids at home and on the ball field
- 26:06Speaker 2: and taught them what's most important, and that's to enjoy
- 26:10Speaker 2: yourself and have fun and then take it seriously work hard.
- 26:14Speaker 4: But in the end of the day, it's.
- 26:16Speaker 3: A game, absolutely absolutely, and you know, we were able
- 26:21Speaker 3: to tie in.
- 26:23Speaker 5: Other parts and that where there was there was breaks.
- 26:25Speaker 5: They'd play usually two games a day, but we'd be
- 26:29Speaker 5: able to get a break a couple of the days.
- 26:31Speaker 3: And we went to the Hall of.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Fame and uh, my mind's drawing a blank, but the
- 26:39Speaker 5: like original baseball field that's there in town, so they
- 26:41Speaker 5: got to kind of experience some of the history of it,
- 26:43Speaker 5: and you know, they're at a right page where you know,
- 26:47Speaker 5: you see kids off and run through a museum, but
- 26:51Speaker 5: to watch a lot of these kids really reading the
- 26:54Speaker 5: about the players and and and understanding different parts of it.
- 26:59Speaker 5: And then walk around the Cooperstown Park and seeing you know,
- 27:03Speaker 5: posters of of guys that play now that went to
- 27:07Speaker 5: Cooperstown when they were their age, and that left an
- 27:10Speaker 5: impact there and it's well done.
- 27:12Speaker 3: It was a great time. Proud of our.
- 27:16Speaker 5: Kids, and and they continually said throughout the week how
- 27:20Speaker 5: appreciative they were of the support from the community.
- 27:24Speaker 3: You know, they worked hard, they stacked.
- 27:26Speaker 5: Wood, they raked leaves, they did bottle drives and bake sales,
- 27:30Speaker 5: but they also there was a lot of very generous
- 27:32Speaker 5: folks right up until the end that even were you know,
- 27:36Speaker 5: buying snacks through Amazon and having them shipped.
- 27:40Speaker 3: To us and stuff.
- 27:42Speaker 5: While they were there, the kids really realized how well
- 27:46Speaker 5: beyond their immediate families, how many people in the community
- 27:48Speaker 5: really supported them and took care of them. And and
- 27:52Speaker 5: you could say whatever you want about you know, being limited.
- 27:57Speaker 5: You know, you see the teams from the mass All
- 28:00Speaker 5: Stars won the whole tournament. They're drawing from all of
- 28:05Speaker 5: the whole area of Massachusetts.
- 28:07Speaker 3: For their team. You know, we're a little limited in
- 28:10Speaker 3: our small area.
- 28:11Speaker 5: But to see that support that you get from their
- 28:13Speaker 5: community really really drove home for the kids.
- 28:17Speaker 3: They really were able to appreciate.
- 28:18Speaker 2: That these kids, these kids are coming home with their
- 28:23Speaker 2: eyes wide open and their hearts full of dreams, and
- 28:29Speaker 2: I'm sure that they just cannot wait for the next
- 28:34Speaker 2: season next year.
- 28:37Speaker 5: You're right, and a lot of them, you know, a
- 28:39Speaker 5: lot of them continue the fall ball season is coming
- 28:41Speaker 5: up where we play, you know, so they'll play a
- 28:44Speaker 5: little fall baseball into depending on how cold it gets.
- 28:48Speaker 5: But in October, a lot of them are starting to
- 28:52Speaker 5: sign up with travel teams that you know, they they
- 28:55Speaker 5: practice through the winter time inside. But you know, they
- 28:59Speaker 5: some of these kids have really decided that baseball is
- 29:01Speaker 5: going to be their sport and they're.
- 29:03Speaker 3: They're all in on it.
- 29:06Speaker 5: My son made a travel was tried out and made
- 29:09Speaker 5: a travel ball team, and it's expensive, and he was
- 29:12Speaker 5: he said, I'm going to start working for it.
- 29:14Speaker 3: So he's he's got.
- 29:15Speaker 5: A lawn bowing job and a dog and a dog
- 29:18Speaker 5: poop scooping job coming up the starter and it's some
- 29:21Speaker 5: money for it, but he's.
- 29:23Speaker 3: You know, it helps it all facets of life.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Isn't that something else any uh, any any key plays
- 29:31Speaker 2: or stuff on the highlight reel that that should be
- 29:36Speaker 2: put in the spotlight this morning, I know that one
- 29:39Speaker 2: of the one of the players in my mind slipping
- 29:42Speaker 2: me here got a nice out of the park homer.
- 29:45Speaker 5: We had three players at home runs. Cam Ford here
- 29:48Speaker 5: certainly was the star.
- 29:50Speaker 4: That's what I'm thinking of. Yeah, he had two in
- 29:53Speaker 4: one game.
- 29:54Speaker 3: I think he finished the week with four.
- 29:56Speaker 5: Dingers, if memories nerves right. He also pitched solid two
- 30:02Speaker 5: games for us.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Pitched really well.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Cal Farnham got his got a home run out of
- 30:08Speaker 5: the park. Uh and Miles Marino also hit one out.
- 30:12Speaker 5: And then on the basis you know in the field
- 30:15Speaker 5: that we had some great Michael Anderson and out in
- 30:17Speaker 5: center field had some some crazy diving sliding catches. DJ
- 30:23Speaker 5: Texarra also in the infield everybody all all around, all
- 30:28Speaker 5: the boys played really really solid, Evan fulsome caught most
- 30:35Speaker 5: of the games. My son Corbyn caught a couple of games.
- 30:37Speaker 3: And it was hot.
- 30:38Speaker 5: I mean we were in the nineties over there all
- 30:40Speaker 5: week and it was very hot, and they all did
- 30:43Speaker 5: really well. And uh, yeah, the I wish we could
- 30:49Speaker 5: share the all the highlight that we could put together
- 30:52Speaker 5: a highlight video. Maybe somebody will do that at some point,
- 30:56Speaker 5: you know, the games are out there, but somebody with
- 30:58Speaker 5: more editing ability than I have.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Listen, I know the season is over for the Mountaineers,
- 31:03Speaker 2: but I would I just I think it would be
- 31:06Speaker 2: so great if Brian Gallagher got the kids out on
- 31:10Speaker 2: the field next June to kick off the season for
- 31:15Speaker 2: the Mountaineers and give them some some much deserved recognition.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Yeah. I you know, the Brian's been great.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Mountaineers have had us there a couple of times for
- 31:27Speaker 5: different you know, throw out a first pitch fifty to
- 31:30Speaker 5: fifty raffle, and they've been a great support for everybody
- 31:34Speaker 5: in the community, local businesses, individuals. It's really been pretty impressive.
- 31:40Speaker 5: And talking to a lot of these other teams that
- 31:44Speaker 5: was not what they had. You know, these are these
- 31:47Speaker 5: are travel they were mostly travel ball teams that you know,
- 31:51Speaker 5: parents were writing big checks.
- 31:53Speaker 4: That sure is not a big deal for them.
- 31:56Speaker 5: And yeah, really made you appreciate coming from a small community.
- 32:03Speaker 5: And uh, you know, very very has really stepped up
- 32:08Speaker 5: in this situation again once again to kind of help
- 32:11Speaker 5: some boys.
- 32:13Speaker 4: You know, do something.
- 32:14Speaker 3: And I hope that you know there's.
- 32:16Speaker 5: It takes a dedicated group of kids and parents to
- 32:21Speaker 5: want to do this in years to come, but I
- 32:23Speaker 5: certainly would advocate that you know, it's a once in
- 32:27Speaker 5: a time, once in a lifetime experience.
- 32:29Speaker 4: It's pretty funn Listen.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Please tell the kids that I'm tipping my hat into
- 32:35Speaker 2: all of them, and I would love to have a
- 32:39Speaker 2: few of them back on the air here at some
- 32:42Speaker 2: point after you guys catch your breath. It doesn't matter
- 32:46Speaker 2: what's what, what season it is, Baseball is always alive
- 32:51Speaker 2: here in Central Vermont, and man, if I could get
- 32:55Speaker 2: some of these kids on the air with me in
- 32:56Speaker 2: the coming weeks, I'm sure you'll you'll reach out to
- 33:00Speaker 2: me and let me know if that's possible, right Jake.
- 33:03Speaker 3: For sure, I'll try and get a couple of kids
- 33:04Speaker 3: lined up.
- 33:05Speaker 5: We're jumping right into football season for a couple of us.
- 33:08Speaker 5: I I coached with the with the by S A
- 33:12Speaker 5: youth program, and my son Corman plays, so we'll push.
- 33:16Speaker 5: It's not too late if anybody out there is interested
- 33:18Speaker 5: in signing up for football. We run a great program,
- 33:21Speaker 5: but we'll certainly find time. You've been a big support
- 33:24Speaker 5: and the kids are will be very excited to talk
- 33:27Speaker 5: about the big kids that were throwing throwing heat by
- 33:31Speaker 5: them and crushing home runs.
- 33:33Speaker 4: So what's the best way to do that is it
- 33:37Speaker 4: is there a website.
- 33:39Speaker 3: For for the football.
- 33:40Speaker 5: You can go through the there we have a Facebook
- 33:43Speaker 5: page buy s a football, or you can go through
- 33:46Speaker 5: the by s A Youth Sports and and follow the
- 33:50Speaker 5: sign up there. We practice right up at Bondfield top
- 33:53Speaker 5: of Prospect Street.
- 33:54Speaker 3: This is preseason stuff.
- 33:55Speaker 5: So the five, six and seven eight grades all practice
- 34:00Speaker 5: up there and then we have an intro unpadded and
- 34:05Speaker 5: padded flag for first, second, third, fourth, and they've been
- 34:08Speaker 5: practicing at various city schools.
- 34:09Speaker 2: But boy, and that's serious stuff, man. I mean last
- 34:13Speaker 2: I remember last year that there is some real competition
- 34:17Speaker 2: with that.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Brother. It is you know that football is a struggling sport,
- 34:25Speaker 3: you know, to keep the numbers going. But we've been
- 34:26Speaker 3: pretty happy the youth program.
- 34:28Speaker 5: We've had you know, well over one hundred kids every
- 34:31Speaker 5: year in the program.
- 34:33Speaker 3: And and that's that's a good sign. And and it's
- 34:39Speaker 3: you know.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Sports co curriculars of any level I think are very
- 34:44Speaker 5: important for kids beyond developing their athletic ability. It showed
- 34:51Speaker 5: with with our kids in there, you know, good attitudes
- 34:56Speaker 5: on the field and high five and other kids. That
- 34:59Speaker 5: was like, as we said in the beginning, that was
- 35:01Speaker 5: a highlight for us parents and that that's where that
- 35:04Speaker 5: stuff's developed.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Jake, thanks for coming on with me, man, and
- 35:09Speaker 2: get in touch with me here soon and let me
- 35:12Speaker 2: know when we can get these.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Kids on the air.
- 35:14Speaker 3: We'll do. Thank you.
- 35:15Speaker 2: J all right, buddy, Jake Larabee right there. Congratulations to
- 35:20Speaker 2: the Grantite City Blast Baseball for making it to cooper'stown,
- 35:24Speaker 2: doing so so well and welcome back home. Just watching
- 35:31Speaker 2: trying to watch that and pay attention to that last
- 35:33Speaker 2: week while I was away, and it was I'm just
- 35:36Speaker 2: I'm so happy for those kids.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I really am. So Yeah. So last week I was.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Uh spending some time with family, some incredible quality time
- 35:57Speaker 2: with family. And I'm back. I'm back in the saddle.
- 36:05Speaker 2: But I have a lot to say. And I was
- 36:10Speaker 2: thinking on the drive home about my Facebook question of
- 36:19Speaker 2: the Day for Monday, and I drive Ryln kind of
- 36:25Speaker 2: nuts in many ways. One of the ways is that
- 36:32Speaker 2: I've always gotta have a pen on me and a
- 36:34Speaker 2: piece of paper and I'm always scribbling notes and.
- 36:40Speaker 4: I scribble them on everything.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I mean, they're just they're luck, I mean, they're everywhere,
- 36:52Speaker 2: and I'm I'm just like, you know, what are you
- 36:57Speaker 2: writing down? Now? So many thoughts, comments, ideas, questions that
- 37:10Speaker 2: I have.
- 37:13Speaker 4: One of.
- 37:15Speaker 2: One of my questions, Yes, Dwayne, it was a paper plate. Yeah,
- 37:25Speaker 2: right there, right there. Look look, yes, paper plate. Do
- 37:37Speaker 2: you want to see the ATM receipts in my wallet?
- 37:42Speaker 2: I'll show you those two. You're not bringing that notebook,
- 37:51Speaker 2: are you? No, honey, of course not.
- 37:54Speaker 4: You better not. We're on vacation.
- 37:58Speaker 2: It was hidden under the passengers seat the whole time.
- 38:02Speaker 2: She didn't know. I have hidden pens so that I
- 38:12Speaker 2: always have one quickly, what are you scribbling down? Now?
- 38:18Speaker 4: What are you writing? What are you writing? What's going on?
- 38:22Speaker 4: So we got into.
- 38:26Speaker 2: So we went to Wells, Maine, where we have gone
- 38:31Speaker 2: every year every summer since before Lily was born, and
- 38:38Speaker 2: we always run into the same First of all, Wells Maine,
- 38:46Speaker 2: that whole area, that whole stretch of Gunquit, York.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Is such.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Listen, I'll say I'll say things here that I know
- 39:00Speaker 2: you're you're you're going to say, oh yeah, oh yeah,
- 39:02Speaker 2: JD Yep, you're right, and you're going to probably say,
- 39:06Speaker 2: oh jd gosh, really do you have to be that negative? Really,
- 39:10Speaker 2: there's another side to it. Can't you see it? All
- 39:15Speaker 2: that area, although I love it, I'll say positive things
- 39:18Speaker 2: and negative things about that whole area. That whole stretch
- 39:22Speaker 2: of the main coast.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Is such.
- 39:26Speaker 2: An unbelievable money trap in so many different ways. And
- 39:40Speaker 2: I understand. I understand that if you're going to go there,
- 39:46Speaker 2: you have to expect that everything is more expensive, the
- 39:51Speaker 2: ice cream, the parking, the food, even the gasoline. And
- 40:02Speaker 2: it seems like every year that we go.
- 40:06Speaker 4: To Wells.
- 40:09Speaker 2: That that I try to prepare myself in my mind,
- 40:18Speaker 2: You're going to be spending some money. Don't be surprised
- 40:24Speaker 2: by the price of things. And I feel like a
- 40:30Speaker 2: like an athlete getting ready to step on the field
- 40:33Speaker 2: and preparing myself. You know where you're going, you know
- 40:36Speaker 2: what You've been there every year. Don't be surprised anymore.
- 40:42Speaker 2: But I'm always surprised for some reason. I always I'm like,
- 40:46Speaker 2: oh my god, are you kidding me?
- 40:52Speaker 4: And that's how it was this past week.
- 40:57Speaker 2: One of the issues that we run into is it
- 41:01Speaker 2: seems like it's easy to get and I don't know
- 41:03Speaker 2: how many. Please comment right now if are you do
- 41:08Speaker 2: you go to Wells a gun Quit, York. Is is
- 41:12Speaker 2: that an area that you are familiar with? If you're
- 41:14Speaker 2: familiar with that area, please tell me right now. And
- 41:20Speaker 2: I want to know and I need your help. And
- 41:23Speaker 2: here's why. Here's the same problem we run into every
- 41:26Speaker 2: every time. Getting there is generally pretty easy. Getting out
- 41:33Speaker 2: of there, especially on a Sunday, is always very difficult.
- 41:46Speaker 4: There are.
- 41:49Speaker 2: And I'm trying to explain this to to Sherilyn as
- 41:51Speaker 2: I do every year. And if she wants to defend
- 41:56Speaker 2: herself or or whatever, she can call me in I'll
- 41:59Speaker 2: put her on the air. There are some arteries that
- 42:06Speaker 2: run north south and east west. It's a grid, and
- 42:18Speaker 2: there are not a lot of arteries. And I'm trying
- 42:24Speaker 2: to explain this. You got ninety five which runs north south.
- 42:33Speaker 2: You got one oh one which runs east west, three
- 42:40Speaker 2: oh two which runs east west, Route one north south,
- 42:52Speaker 2: and I'm pretty sure that that's about it. And if
- 42:56Speaker 2: anybody can enlighten me, please do. If I'm forgetting one
- 43:04Speaker 2: of the major routes, please let me know right now
- 43:08Speaker 2: so that I can learn the best What is the
- 43:15Speaker 2: best way and this is one of my questions this morning,
- 43:19Speaker 2: and I'm literally reaching out to my followers, my listeners
- 43:27Speaker 2: this morning. What is the best way to get to
- 43:29Speaker 2: and from Wells, Maine. Here's what I say. It's eighty
- 43:40Speaker 2: nine to ninety east to ninety three. Well, I guess
- 43:50Speaker 2: it's eighty nine south technically to ninety three, ninety three
- 43:59Speaker 2: south to one oh one east, one oh one east
- 44:07Speaker 2: to ninety five north for a short distance to the beaches.
- 44:15Speaker 2: That's the pattern right there. And I'm wondering if I've
- 44:22Speaker 2: had it wrong all these years, if I've been getting
- 44:25Speaker 2: to the Wells main area the wrong way.
- 44:31Speaker 4: Is that the way that you would go? Is that
- 44:33Speaker 4: the way that you do go?
- 44:35Speaker 2: Or do you go three oh two and connect in
- 44:39Speaker 2: up top on the north side Portland? The way that
- 44:47Speaker 2: I was talking about. You come in into Portsmouth and
- 44:50Speaker 2: you you get on the bridge there and you go
- 44:55Speaker 2: over the river, you cross the line from New Hampshire
- 44:59Speaker 2: into Maine and bang, you're right there. Yeah, or Penny saying,
- 45:08Speaker 2: or follow one on one and one up through the coast. Yes,
- 45:14Speaker 2: Glenn's saying he likes three h two, which again will
- 45:18Speaker 2: put you into uh Portland and then you. I'm guessing Glenn,
- 45:22Speaker 2: jump on ninety five south for a short distance and
- 45:25Speaker 2: you're at the beaches. Are there any other And I
- 45:30Speaker 2: know JD go ahead and look at the map. I
- 45:35Speaker 2: have looked at the map, but I'm wondering what's the
- 45:42Speaker 2: best way to get to and from Wells, Maine, so
- 45:47Speaker 2: that I can.
- 45:49Speaker 4: Settle this.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Finally, my second question is, and I really want to
- 45:59Speaker 2: know this, what is your favorite seafood spot in that area?
- 46:06Speaker 2: There are so many. Mike's is great, New England Seafood
- 46:16Speaker 2: is great. It's a great restaurant. My favorite, Chareland's favorite
- 46:25Speaker 2: is and we have a couple of different reasons why
- 46:28Speaker 2: this is our favorite. It's somewhat sentimental to us because
- 46:35Speaker 2: it was one of the first places that we ever
- 46:37Speaker 2: discovered is And I want to know if you've heard
- 46:40Speaker 2: of this restaurant, Fishermen's Catch. Fisherman's Catch is such a
- 46:50Speaker 2: nostalgic place to eat, right there before the Wells Harbor.
- 47:00Speaker 2: It is just such a great place and we always
- 47:05Speaker 2: go there and I always have the fried whole belly clams. Cannot,
- 47:14Speaker 2: for the life of me, understand why if someone's going
- 47:18Speaker 2: to get fried clams, why they wouldn't get the whole
- 47:20Speaker 2: belly clams. Why they would get the clams? Strips cannot
- 47:25Speaker 2: understand that. Oh maybe people don't like the taste of
- 47:29Speaker 2: the bellies. You gotta have if you're going to do it,
- 47:36Speaker 2: you gotta have the whole belly clams. Don't don't. Don't
- 47:40Speaker 2: tell me, Strips. I don't want to hear it. A
- 47:45Speaker 2: little devastated that they ran out of the bar Harbor
- 47:50Speaker 2: blueberry beer, which I love. I think it's like eight percent.
- 47:53Speaker 2: It's pretty good. But anyway, he says, the root with
- 48:01Speaker 2: the best bathrooms, Amen's sister Penny's saying following the coast
- 48:12Speaker 2: is beautiful. We do that to get there. Then the
- 48:16Speaker 2: shorter way coming home. Yep, because of the sandy grit,
- 48:24Speaker 2: says Robin. When they're not cleaned properly. See Robin, I
- 48:31Speaker 2: like the grit. I like the sand. Put it in
- 48:35Speaker 2: my mouth, crunch it, love it. Don't care if they're
- 48:41Speaker 2: cleaned properly. That's just me. Oh my god, it was
- 48:49Speaker 2: just so wonderful. You got the big roll of paper
- 48:53Speaker 2: towels hanging on the chain above your table. Now that's serious.
- 49:02Speaker 4: You know.
- 49:04Speaker 2: It's gonna be some good eating when you got a
- 49:09Speaker 2: huge roll of paper towels hanging above you. Oh man,
- 49:15Speaker 2: did we have fun. It was a wonderful, wonderful time.
- 49:23Speaker 2: And I'm not even getting into Yummies candy store in Kiddy,
- 49:31Speaker 2: which we always stop at, and Sherilyn always says, we
- 49:39Speaker 2: are not stopping at Yummies. I just want everyone to
- 49:42Speaker 2: know we're not stopping at Yummies. And of course we
- 49:48Speaker 2: always do. Ten thousand pounds of candy. That's right there
- 49:59Speaker 2: in front of you. That's what that's their claim to fame.
- 50:03Speaker 2: Ten pounds on display in front of your eyes. It
- 50:08Speaker 2: is so crammed with candy in there. You should see
- 50:11Speaker 2: the look on Lily's face when she goes in there. Seriously,
- 50:16Speaker 2: if I could film it, I will. It is literally
- 50:18Speaker 2: like this. It's so there's so much candy in Yummies
- 50:26Speaker 2: that you have to step aside and turn sideways to
- 50:31Speaker 2: let a person who's in the same aisle as you.
- 50:35Speaker 4: Get by you.
- 50:40Speaker 2: It is probably, it's not probably. It definitely is the
- 50:45Speaker 2: biggest candy store on the planet. Going in there, seeing
- 50:54Speaker 2: some of the old fashioned candy, the old fashioned gums
- 51:00Speaker 2: and lozengers, and you know, the coorst they got all
- 51:04Speaker 2: the new stuff too. It is outrageous. The saltwater taffy
- 51:12Speaker 2: had a couple of peanut butter saltwater taffies. Lord, have mercy,
- 51:22Speaker 2: You gotta you gotta go to Yummies in Kiddery. It's amazing.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Check them out on Facebook if you don't believe me.
- 51:36Speaker 2: There is so much that happened during this past week,
- 51:48Speaker 2: much of which I am I have decided that I
- 51:53Speaker 2: am going to share on the air. And it's not today,
- 52:02Speaker 2: being Monday, I'm just kind of wet in the whistle
- 52:05Speaker 2: here for Thursday when g comes in. I have stories
- 52:15Speaker 2: to tell, and I want to hear your stories as well.
- 52:21Speaker 2: If you have any stories, good, bad or otherwise of
- 52:29Speaker 2: summer vacations, were time spent anywhere near that stretch of
- 52:35Speaker 2: the coast in Maine, I want to hear it. It
- 52:40Speaker 2: is impossible to go away for a week and not
- 52:47Speaker 2: have stories.
- 52:51Speaker 4: It's impossible. And some of mine are you're going to say, oh.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Well, yeah, yeah, that's mohuhuh, yep, that's believable, that's typical.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Yep.
- 53:07Speaker 2: And some of my stories you're going to, frankly possibly
- 53:14Speaker 2: have a hard time believing. And that's that's okay. I'm
- 53:17Speaker 2: at peace with that, but I'm going to tell you anyways.
- 53:25Speaker 2: I am going to tell you on Thursday about our
- 53:34Speaker 2: experience at the campground that we stayed at, which I
- 53:43Speaker 2: did ask on Facebook, what is your favorite campground to
- 53:48Speaker 2: stay at in that stretch of the coast in Maine?
- 53:55Speaker 2: What is your favorite campground? And some of you are
- 53:58Speaker 2: like name hotels and inns, and that's fine, But for
- 54:07Speaker 2: the campers, whether you're rv in it or whether you're
- 54:11Speaker 2: tenting it, I want to know what your favorite campground is,
- 54:17Speaker 2: and even more specifically, I want to know why it's
- 54:20Speaker 2: your favorite. I want to know why. If there's one
- 54:25Speaker 2: that you repeatedly go to, why is that your favorite.
- 54:30Speaker 2: We stopped off and had a little tour of the
- 54:33Speaker 2: Seaview Campground dare I say resort? Holy smokes, was it beautiful?
- 54:44Speaker 2: But it was also one hundred bucks a night for
- 54:47Speaker 2: a tent site. Now what do you get for that?
- 54:53Speaker 2: You get a lot, actually, And if you compare the
- 55:01Speaker 2: cost of staying overnight anywhere near Wells, you got to
- 55:11Speaker 2: think about that. You got to think about that and
- 55:13Speaker 2: look at that everything's relative Seaview, and of course there
- 55:21Speaker 2: is an amazing view of the ocean and many other
- 55:28Speaker 2: great things. In our brief tour of the Sea View Campground,
- 55:39Speaker 2: we also have a lot to say about stating which
- 55:49Speaker 2: is very sentimental to us, and we love that campground.
- 55:58Speaker 2: And we went and toured a few other campgrounds. I
- 56:08Speaker 2: started to take notes of these campgrounds. What are some
- 56:14Speaker 2: of the pros, what are some of the cons? Where
- 56:18Speaker 2: do we want to stay next time? What do we
- 56:20Speaker 2: want to do? We stayed at a campground for the
- 56:28Speaker 2: first time. We had never been to this campground before,
- 56:31Speaker 2: but we tried something new this past week. We stayed
- 56:36Speaker 2: at a campground called Riverside Family Campground. And I am
- 56:47Speaker 2: very curious to know if there's anyone out there, watching,
- 56:52Speaker 2: listening right now that have ever stayed at Riverside. It's
- 56:58Speaker 2: on the north end of Wells, past all of the busyness,
- 57:07Speaker 2: and it's right near the hard right that you would
- 57:12Speaker 2: take to get toward Kennebank. I have a reason for
- 57:19Speaker 2: asking if you have ever stayed at Riverside. And I'm
- 57:27Speaker 2: going to be talking about this more so. On Thursday,
- 57:37Speaker 2: Sherilyn was like, you know, you ought to come up
- 57:40Speaker 2: with a list of like the top ten most important
- 57:48Speaker 2: things for practicing camping etiquette. And I said, that's a
- 57:57Speaker 2: great idea. And that's when I went for my kid
- 58:00Speaker 2: and pen and notebook underneath the passenger seat and started
- 58:06Speaker 2: scribbling some things down. And I did. And I have
- 58:14Speaker 2: that list. And some of the items on this list
- 58:22Speaker 2: you're gonna probably nod your head at. And some of
- 58:25Speaker 2: if you're a camper, whether it's tent or RV, and
- 58:30Speaker 2: some of the things on this list, you're gonna go wow,
- 58:38Speaker 2: I may not have thought of that. And here's why
- 58:41Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't. So I have my list. Last
- 58:52Speaker 2: I checked, it was like twenty two or twenty three
- 58:55Speaker 2: items that Charlyn has told me I should make into
- 58:59Speaker 2: a ten list. So I've got to condense some of
- 59:04Speaker 2: these things. I'll say, no matter where you go camping,
- 59:15Speaker 2: no matter if it's tense or if it's RV, it's
- 59:18Speaker 2: always an experience. There's always great joy, not always with camping.
- 59:33Speaker 2: Sometimes it rains, sometimes it sucks. But it's a lot
- 59:40Speaker 2: of work going camping. And and I'll be I'll level
- 59:46Speaker 2: here with you. I'm getting older. It's not that easy
- 59:55Speaker 2: for me to be.
- 59:59Speaker 4: And share. And two.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Doing this, doing that, set this up, take this up,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: pick this up. There's a lot of bending over. There's
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: a lot of thinking that's involved, there's a lot of
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: planning that's involved, and frankly, if it wasn't for Rilyn's
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: pre planning, we just wouldn't have had the time that
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: we had. She is always thinking beyond what I am
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: when it comes to camping, and every time we go,
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: we make a list of the things that we absolutely
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: must have.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: Little hacks, two.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Little things that we didn't never would think were super
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: important to have, like a rubber mat. Glenn says, this
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: that happens, dude. I quit camping in my fifties. There
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: is something so wonderful and enjoyable about sleeping in a tent,
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: especially when the weather's perfect in the temperatures just right
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: outside and you can crack that rain fly a little
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: bit and look up at the stars. I mean, there's
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: really something that's beautiful about, at least I say about
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: sleeping in a tent. Camping in a tent. I love it.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: I always have. That's how we camped every summer as
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: a kid with my mom and dad. They always took
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: my brother and I camping, and it was always a
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Kadia National Park every summer, always in a tent, no
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: matter how much fog or dampness or rain or wind
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: we tinted it. Lily loves it. I mean, it was
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: just it was wonderful. She had a friend with her.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: We just had a We had a great time camping.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Although it is a ton of work, it's a thinking
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: man's sport. There's always going to be something that you forgot.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: You grab a pen, you grab your notebook, and you
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: write it down so that you don't forget it next time.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Camping is some thing that, no matter what the weather
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: is doing, it's always what you make out of it.
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: And Chrilyn and I generally have a pretty good mindset
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: of let's let's have a good experience. Let's make sure
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: we've got these s'mores and the s'more sticks and enough
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: chocolate and everything. Let's let's let we know how to
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: have a good time. And even if there are some
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: things that happen that test your patience and your frustration
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: levels that threshold, whether it's backing the camper up or
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: setting up the tent in the dark, or setting it
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: up in the dark and the rain with that one
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: headlamp that you have with the batteries that have gone
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: dead in the other batteries that you forgot to bring
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: to put in the headlamp to make it work again,
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: so that you can see whether it's the mosquitoes, whether
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: it's that smoky the fire that never was a fire
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: from your neighbor that just does nothing but smoke for
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: every minute around the clock, for the entire nation that
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: you're camping. It's always what you make of it. It's
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: always your attitude of it that has to be most important.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: It has to be the center of everything for campers.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: You will get frustrated, you will remember things, but it's
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: always you have to just stop and say, is Lily
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: having a good time? Does she care about the same
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: things that you care about right now, about that neighbor
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: that you have who is in absolute complete ass.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: Probably not.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: She's too busy thinking about other things and she's having fun.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: By the way, for every asshole neighbor that you're gonna
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: have camping, you're gonna have a great one. And I
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: want to give a shout out to two great ones
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Matt and Steph from Rutland. We're camping across from us,
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: and they were just really cool people and we shared
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: our own set of laughs with them about this particular campground,
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: Riverside Family Campground, and they were just they were just
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: really really nice people. And I want to give a
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: shout out to them. It's nice to meet another Vermonter,
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: especially nice to meet one who you just know that
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: they're on the same page as you are about a
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: few things. And they were. But I have yes, that's right, Pecky.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: That applies to life as well. It's all about your attitude, amen, sister.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: That is so true, it really is. We were there
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: for a.
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: Week and.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: We ended up moving our campsite to a different spot,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: and I told Matt and Steph, I said, look, I'm
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: going to be talking about it pretty much all week,
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: but there's things that I'm going to wait and chair
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: it with you on the air that you don't even
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: know about. But where we met them is not where
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: we originally started camping. We were at a different site
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: and we moved, and I'm going to tell you why
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: we moved on Thursday, and I'm going to go into detail.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: With g.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: On Thursday morning. And I already know I think, I
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: think I know what you're probably gonna say to me,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: which is going to be a whole lot of oh well, JD.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: That's camping, and you're right, You're absolutely right. I'm just
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: starting to question and Glenn, maybe you can help me
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: out whether I'm just getting too old for this shit.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: But then again, I've got a ten year old little
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: girl who loves camping. So how many of you have
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: ever been camping? And your partner in my case Sherlyn
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: has said and maybe even whispered in your ear so
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: that the kids can't hear you. Oh my god, I
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: am telling you right now, I'm never going to do
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: this again.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: Never one and done. This is it. I hope you
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: enjoying yourself right now because we're never doing this again.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: And then.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: A couple of days later, you're in the car, So
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: when do you want to go back? We should try
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: a different campsite next time. Do you want to go
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: back to that other campground? Didn't you just throw that
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: air pump at me and that tent steak and tell
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: me that we are never doing this again. We are
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: going to go camping again, and it is going to
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: be in this ridiculously large tent that we have that
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: is a condominium that sleeps seventeen and has a roller
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: skating rank in the middle. We are going to do
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: this again, and I will bring extra batteries for the headlamp.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: I'll actually buy a few more headlamps. But I want
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: to know your camping story. There is a bumper sticker
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: that says, and I've seen it, I got to buy it,
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: that says something to the effect of I'm sorry what
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: I said to you when I was backing up the camper,
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: or I'm sorry what I said to you, Sorry about
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: what I said to you while we were setting up
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: the tent or this greenhouse. I have my camping list
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: that Sherilyn and I have fine tuned, which I would
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: love to share with you at some point, things that
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: are so important, things not to forget. But also I
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: have my list of the top camping etiquette that we
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: should all as campers practice. I'm so sorry to say
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: that not all of us are happy campers. There are
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: things that happen at campgrounds, things that are said at campgrounds.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: There's breakups, there's bonding, there's laughter, there's tears, there's frustration,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: there's joy. When I say joy, I'm talking about like
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: this lady at the other end of the campground who
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: for her kids not only set up a huge tent
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: a look a pop up tent like canopy tent, but
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: had to put the walls down on the side of
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: it and had a projector and was playing a movie
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: projected onto the side of this tent, And all of
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: the kids in the campground went over, got their blankets
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: in their chairs.
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: And the dogs.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: And the snacks, and sat down at night and watched
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: Missus doubtfire. There's always going to be some joy when
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: you're camping. But man, it's like there's some North Pole
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: and South Pole stuff that also happens when you're camping,
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Like there's good, bad and bad, really good and really
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: bad all at the same time. Yes, Jen, rent a
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: cabin and then you still get the camping experience. But
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: it makes life a little easier. It makes life a
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: whole hell of a lot easier. It's a great point.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: And I have something to say about the cabins too,
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: which hopefully I'll remember. But Jen, great point. Yeah, and Glenn,
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: you nailed it, Bud. Once you stop doing something, it's
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: hard to get going again. And Cherylyn will tell you
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: some of the first words out of my mouth when,
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: if not the first words out of my mouth when
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Charylyn told me that she was pregnant. Were the following
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: and I quote, we're getting rid of the tent and
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: we're getting a camper. We're not bringing or we're not
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: bringing a baby into a tent because it's gonna rain.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: There is a love hate relationship with camping that only
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: campers can understand and explain. And there are plenty of
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: you that are like, can't even say the word camping.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: You can only say the word hotel, and that's fine too.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: And then there's others of you that are like glamping.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: I hear that word all the time now, glamping. And
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: we're transitioning. We're going from the tent. If you go
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: into anywhere, anywhere, any anywhere, you see the tent, then
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: you see the pop up, Then you see the small camper,
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: then you see the medium camper, then you see the
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: large camper. Then you see the seasonal that's there. It's
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: been unhitched from its rig for decades. Maybe a little
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: moldy around the base, but it's been there. It's a
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: little dirty, but it's been sitting there for a long time.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: Then you've got the park models, which are essentially mini homes,
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: which are absolutely gorgeous. Then you've got the park models
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: with more push out, more beef. Then you've got Now
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: we've got the garden going in, and the lawn and
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: the lawn ornaments, and the driveway and the sign out
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: front with the family name. There is there is a
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: whole lot of transition that's going on between camping and
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: we're living now. This is this is our year round,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: this is how we live. This is our home now,
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: not our campsite, our home. I have taken all of
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: this in this past week. On Thursday, I am going
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: to run down my list of the top items of
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: camping etiquette that you, as a camper, it at least
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: in my opinion, you as a camper should practice and
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: if you can't practice these things, you should not be camping.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: That is my opinion. On Thursday, I'm going to run
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: down this list. One of the items on that list
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: and listen, this is for adult audiences, one of the
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: items on that list. And I'm asking you to help
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: me create this list. And here's why, because not only
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: am I going to create this list with you, please,
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: but once it's finalized, I want your items on there too.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: I want to hear what you have to say. I
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: want to compile all of these things together, and I
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: want to print it. I want to make something with it.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: I'll bring it somewhere and print it, and then once
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: it's printed, I want to bring it with me to campgrounds. Oh, JD,
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: Now you're being an asshole, and I want to pass
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: it out. I want to pass it out to all
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: of the campers there. Ah, JD, you're taking this way
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: too far. You're going beyond and above, and you're not
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: the owner of the campground.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: JD.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: You have no right to better. I just I don't know,
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: I don't know. But these are like basic things, really
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: basic things. Like just one of the items on my list.
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: If if you're in a campground that is so packed
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: in tight with tents that your tenting neighbor is right
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: next to you, and I mean right next to you
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: five feet.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: You you.
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: Should maybe put off having sex until you're not camping anymore,
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: or maybe maybe a hotel would have been best for
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: you and your partner instead of having sex five feet
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: away from my kid who's honestly trying to sleep and
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: so my If you snore louder than a chainsaw, maybe
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: you should think about the placement of where your tent
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: is in proximity to your neighbor. If you drive a
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Harley Davidson, maybe you should think about when you get
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: up at stupid o'clock the next morning and you need
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: to start your bike five feet away from your neighbour's tent.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: Maybe if you know that you're going to leave super
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: early in the morning, maybe you should place that Harley
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: Davidson in a different area of the campground, not with
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: your exhaust pipes five feet away from where your neighbor
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: is sleeping. I am hardly scratching the surface here, but
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: we're going to get into it. We're going to get
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: into it this week. We're also going to have.
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: Some fun.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: Talking about Taylor Swift and the rumors that she's going
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: to be playing the Super Bowl halftime show on Thursday.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: I'm going to be telling you about Volkswagen, and I'm
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: going to drop a link to it ahead of time,
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: about Volkswagen charging a monthly fee to make their cars
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: go faster. That's trending right now. PETA's latest beef is
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: now over Mario Kart. I'm going to put it up
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: there on the page. You can read it. You can
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: give me your opinions about this there's a lot of
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: stuff happening. We have a school teacher who got a
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: DUI on the second day of school. That link I'm
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: going to put up as well. There's some really bizarre
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: and random stuff that I'm going to be dishing out
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: this week. And wait till you hear what I have
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: to say about all of the Massachusetts drivers up and
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: down Route one. Yep, it's a lot happening, a lot
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: going on. Thanks for starting your day with me this morning.
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: I hope that at the very least you were able
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: to smile. Becky.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: You're making me smile right now. Becky writes, no chafing
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: during your walk on the beach this year. I forgot
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: that I told that story on the air. This is
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: scary to me sometimes that I have forgotten what I
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: have said on the air.
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: Reading this comment, I'm like, did I tell that story
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: on it? I think I did.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: G doesn't surprise me if I was a G. But
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: no chafing this year on the beach walk. However, Becky,
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Glenn and the rest of you, every time I go
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: to the beach, every time something happens, something happens. Yes,
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: I almost got airlifted by a metavac helicopter from Chafing
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: a few years ago when I was like five miles
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: away from my umbrella and couldn't get back. But this time,
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: this past week, something happened to me that you literally,
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: I'm telling you. You won't believe it, but I'm gonna
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: tell you on Thursday with Gee and I can't wait.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: It's gonna be a fantastic week. Thank you to my
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: presenting sponsors. Thank you to my supporting sponsors who helped
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: me be with you each and every morning. There's a
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: lot of bad news in the world. There's a lot
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: of bad news going on right here and Vermont too,
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: but there's also a lot of good stuff and we're
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: gonna try to bring it to you. We're gonna try
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: to make you smile. Thanks for getting your work started
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: with me. We'll catch you again tomorrow morning, Nicole Pierce,
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: We're gonna be talking about Tvis tomorrow morning. Right here there,
