Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations

rooted in Scripture and relevant for today.

May 8th Pads of the Heart Every day your heart is walking
• 0:13
somewhere. Even when your body is sitting
• 0:16
in class, working at a job, scrolling on your phone, or
• 0:20
lying awake at night, your heart is moving towards something,
• 0:23
toward God or away from Him, toward humility or pride, toward
• 0:28
healing or hiding, toward life or destruction.
• 0:32
Proverbs chapter 15 verses 24 to 25 says the path of life leads
• 0:38
upward for the prudent, that he may turn away from she.
• 0:40
All beneath the Lord tears down the House of the proud, but
• 0:44
  maintains the widow's boundaries.
• 0:47
Psalm chapter 51 asks God for a clean heart and a renewed
• 0:51
spirit, and 1st Corinthians Chapter 11 verse 26 says that as
• 0:57
often as believers eat the bread and drink the cup, they proclaim
• 1:00
the Lord's death until He comes. These verses bring together
• 1:05
  wisdom, repentance, and remembrance.
• 1:07
The wise person does not drift through life.
• 1:10
The wise person chooses the upward path.
• 1:12
Not the easy path, not the popular path, the upward path,
• 1:18
the path that leads away from destruction and closer to God.
• 1:21
But what happens when we fail? Psalm chapter 51 reminds us that
• 1:25
God welcomes honest repentance. You do not have to pretend your
• 1:30
heart is clean when it is not. You can ask Him to create in you
• 1:33
a clean heart. You can ask Him to renew your
• 1:36
spirit. You can ask Him to restore your
• 1:38
joy. And 1st Corinthians Chapter 11
• 1:42
points us back to Jesus. We remember his sacrifice
• 1:45
because our hope is not in our perfect record.
• 1:48
Our hope is in His death, His mercy, and His coming again.
• 1:52
So today, pay attention to your path.
• 1:55
Pride may look strong, but it cannot stand before God.
• 1:58
Humility may feel low, but it leads upward.
• 2:01
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, lead my heart
• 2:03
on the path of life. When pride rises in me, humble
• 2:07
me with your love. When I sin, draw me into honest
• 2:11
repentance instead of hiding. Create in me a clean heart and
• 2:14
renew a right spirit within me. Keep my eyes on Jesus, His
• 2:19
sacrifice and the life He calls me to walk in Jesus name, Amen.
• 2:24

• 2:28

Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 15 Verses 24 to

25 World English Bible The path of life leads upward.
• 3:41
For the wise to keep him from going downward to she all Yahweh
• 3:45
will uproot the House of the proud, but he will keep the
• 3:48
widow's borders intact. Psalm Chapter 51 World English
• 3:53
Bible Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving
• 3:56
kindness, according to the multitude of your tender
• 4:00
mercies, Blot out my transgressions, wash me
• 4:03
thoroughly from my iniquity, cleanse me from my sin, for I
• 4:06
know my transgressions. My sin is constantly before me
• 4:11
against you and you only. I have sinned and done that
• 4:14
which is evil in your sight. So you may be proved right when
• 4:17
you speak, and justified when you judge.
• 4:21
Behold, I was born in iniquity. My mother conceived me in sin.
• 4:25
Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts.
• 4:28
You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
• 4:30
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean.
• 4:34
Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
• 4:37
Let me hear joy and gladness, that the bones which you have
• 4:40
broken may rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and
• 4:43
blot out all of my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart.
• 4:47
Oh God, renew a right spirit within me.
• 4:50
Don't throw me from your presence, and don't take your
• 4:52
Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your
• 4:55
salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.
• 5:00
Then I will teach transgressors your ways.
• 5:02
Sinners will be converted to you.
• 5:04
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, Oh God, the God of my
• 5:08
salvation. My tongue will sing aloud of
• 5:11
your righteousness. Lord, open my lips.
• 5:14
My mouth will declare your praise for you.
• 5:16
Don't delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it.
• 5:20
You have no pleasure in burnt offering.
• 5:22
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.
• 5:25
Oh God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
• 5:29
Do well in your good pleasure to Zion.
• 5:32
Build the walls of Jerusalem, then you will delight in the
• 5:35
sacrifices of righteousness in burnt offerings and in whole
• 5:39
burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on
• 5:41
your altar. First Corinthians Chapter 11
• 5:45
World English Bible Be imitators of me, even as I also am of
• 5:50
Christ. Now I praise you, brothers, that
• 5:53
you Remember Me in all things, and hold firm the traditions
• 5:57
even as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know that
• 6:01
the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is
• 6:04
man, and the head of Christ is God.
• 6:07
Every man praying or prophesying having his head covered,
• 6:11
dishonors his head. But every woman praying or
• 6:14
prophesying with her head uncovered dishonors her head.
• 6:18
For it is one and the same thing as if she were shaved.
• 6:21
For if a woman is not covered, let her hair also be cut off.
• 6:26
But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off
• 6:28
or be shaved, let her be covered.
• 6:32
For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, because
• 6:35
he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory
• 6:39
of the man. For man is not from woman, but
• 6:42
woman from man. For man wasn't created for the
• 6:45
woman, but woman for the man. For this cause the woman ought
• 6:49
to have authority over her own head because of the angels.
• 6:53
Nevertheless, neither is the woman independent of the man,
• 6:57
nor the man independent of the woman in the Lord.
• 7:01
For as woman came from man, so a man also comes through a woman.
• 7:05
But all things are from God. Judge for yourselves.
• 7:08
Is it appropriate that a woman pray to God Unveiled?
• 7:12
Doesn't even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair,
• 7:16
it is a dishonor to him? But if a woman has long hair, it
• 7:20
is a glory to her, for her hair is given to her for a covering.
• 7:24
But if any man seems to be contentious, we have no such
• 7:27
  custom. Neither do God's assemblies.
• 7:31
But in giving you this command I don't praise you that you come
• 7:34
together not for the better, but for the worse.
• 7:37
For first of all, when you come together in the assembly, I hear
• 7:41
that divisions exist among you, and I partly believe it.
• 7:45
For there also must be factions among you, that those who are
• 7:48
approved may be revealed among you.
• 7:51
When therefore, you assemble yourselves together, it is not
• 7:54
the Lord's Supper that you eat. For in your eating each one
• 7:58
takes his own supper. First one is hungry and another
• 8:01
is drunken. What, don't you have houses to
• 8:04
eat and to drink in? Or do you despise God's
• 8:07
assembly, and put them to shame who don't have enough?
• 8:10
What shall I tell you? Shall I praise you in this?
• 8:13
I don't praise you. For I received from the Lord
• 8:16
that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the
• 8:20
night in which he was betrayed, took bread.
• 8:22
When he had given thanks, he broke it and said, Take, eat.
• 8:27
This is my body which is broken for you.
• 8:29
Do this in memory of me. In the same way he also took the
• 8:33
cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my
• 8:37
blood. Do this as often as you drink in
• 8:40
memory of me. For as often as you eat this
• 8:43
bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until
• 8:46
he comes. Therefore whoever eats this
• 8:50
bread or drinks the Lord's cup in a way unworthy of the Lord,
• 8:53
will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
• 8:57
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread
• 9:00
and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an
• 9:04
unworthy way eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he
• 9:07
doesn't discern the Lord's body. For this cause many among you
• 9:11
are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.
• 9:14
For if we discerned ourselves, we wouldn't be judged.
• 9:18
But when we are judged, we are punished by the Lord, that we
• 9:21
may not be condemned with the world.
• 9:24
Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for
• 9:27
one another. But if anyone is hungry, let him
• 9:30
eat at home, lest your coming together be for judgement.
• 9:34
The rest I will set an order whenever I come.
