- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today.
- 0:10May 8th Pads of the Heart Every day your heart is walking
- 0:13somewhere. Even when your body is sitting
- 0:16in class, working at a job, scrolling on your phone, or
- 0:20lying awake at night, your heart is moving towards something,
- 0:23toward God or away from Him, toward humility or pride, toward
- 0:28healing or hiding, toward life or destruction.
- 0:32Proverbs chapter 15 verses 24 to 25 says the path of life leads
- 0:38upward for the prudent, that he may turn away from she.
- 0:40All beneath the Lord tears down the House of the proud, but
- 0:44maintains the widow's boundaries.
- 0:47Psalm chapter 51 asks God for a clean heart and a renewed
- 0:51spirit, and 1st Corinthians Chapter 11 verse 26 says that as
- 0:57often as believers eat the bread and drink the cup, they proclaim
- 1:00the Lord's death until He comes. These verses bring together
- 1:05wisdom, repentance, and remembrance.
- 1:07The wise person does not drift through life.
- 1:10The wise person chooses the upward path.
- 1:12Not the easy path, not the popular path, the upward path,
- 1:18the path that leads away from destruction and closer to God.
- 1:21But what happens when we fail? Psalm chapter 51 reminds us that
- 1:25God welcomes honest repentance. You do not have to pretend your
- 1:30heart is clean when it is not. You can ask Him to create in you
- 1:33a clean heart. You can ask Him to renew your
- 1:36spirit. You can ask Him to restore your
- 1:38joy. And 1st Corinthians Chapter 11
- 1:42points us back to Jesus. We remember his sacrifice
- 1:45because our hope is not in our perfect record.
- 1:48Our hope is in His death, His mercy, and His coming again.
- 1:52So today, pay attention to your path.
- 1:55Pride may look strong, but it cannot stand before God.
- 1:58Humility may feel low, but it leads upward.
- 2:01Let's pray. Heavenly Father, lead my heart
- 2:03on the path of life. When pride rises in me, humble
- 2:07me with your love. When I sin, draw me into honest
- 2:11repentance instead of hiding. Create in me a clean heart and
- 2:14renew a right spirit within me. Keep my eyes on Jesus, His
- 2:19sacrifice and the life He calls me to walk in Jesus name, Amen.
- 2:24What if the battles hitting your family are not random and your
- 2:28home can become a place where darkness loses every right to

- 3:28Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 3:31Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 15 Verses 24 to
- 3:3625 World English Bible The path of life leads upward.
- 3:41For the wise to keep him from going downward to she all Yahweh
- 3:45will uproot the House of the proud, but he will keep the
- 3:48widow's borders intact. Psalm Chapter 51 World English
- 3:53Bible Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving
- 3:56kindness, according to the multitude of your tender
- 4:00mercies, Blot out my transgressions, wash me
- 4:03thoroughly from my iniquity, cleanse me from my sin, for I
- 4:06know my transgressions. My sin is constantly before me
- 4:11against you and you only. I have sinned and done that
- 4:14which is evil in your sight. So you may be proved right when
- 4:17you speak, and justified when you judge.
- 4:21Behold, I was born in iniquity. My mother conceived me in sin.
- 4:25Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts.
- 4:28You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
- 4:30Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean.
- 4:34Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
- 4:37Let me hear joy and gladness, that the bones which you have
- 4:40broken may rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and
- 4:43blot out all of my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart.
- 4:47Oh God, renew a right spirit within me.
- 4:50Don't throw me from your presence, and don't take your
- 4:52Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your
- 4:55salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.
- 5:00Then I will teach transgressors your ways.
- 5:02Sinners will be converted to you.
- 5:04Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, Oh God, the God of my
- 5:08salvation. My tongue will sing aloud of
- 5:11your righteousness. Lord, open my lips.
- 5:14My mouth will declare your praise for you.
- 5:16Don't delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it.
- 5:20You have no pleasure in burnt offering.
- 5:22The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.
- 5:25Oh God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
- 5:29Do well in your good pleasure to Zion.
- 5:32Build the walls of Jerusalem, then you will delight in the
- 5:35sacrifices of righteousness in burnt offerings and in whole
- 5:39burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on
- 5:41your altar. First Corinthians Chapter 11
- 5:45World English Bible Be imitators of me, even as I also am of
- 5:50Christ. Now I praise you, brothers, that
- 5:53you Remember Me in all things, and hold firm the traditions
- 5:57even as I delivered them to you. But I would have you know that
- 6:01the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is
- 6:04man, and the head of Christ is God.
- 6:07Every man praying or prophesying having his head covered,
- 6:11dishonors his head. But every woman praying or
- 6:14prophesying with her head uncovered dishonors her head.
- 6:18For it is one and the same thing as if she were shaved.
- 6:21For if a woman is not covered, let her hair also be cut off.
- 6:26But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off
- 6:28or be shaved, let her be covered.
- 6:32For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, because
- 6:35he is the image and glory of God, but the woman is the glory
- 6:39of the man. For man is not from woman, but
- 6:42woman from man. For man wasn't created for the
- 6:45woman, but woman for the man. For this cause the woman ought
- 6:49to have authority over her own head because of the angels.
- 6:53Nevertheless, neither is the woman independent of the man,
- 6:57nor the man independent of the woman in the Lord.
- 7:01For as woman came from man, so a man also comes through a woman.
- 7:05But all things are from God. Judge for yourselves.
- 7:08Is it appropriate that a woman pray to God Unveiled?
- 7:12Doesn't even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair,
- 7:16it is a dishonor to him? But if a woman has long hair, it
- 7:20is a glory to her, for her hair is given to her for a covering.
- 7:24But if any man seems to be contentious, we have no such
- 7:27custom. Neither do God's assemblies.
- 7:31But in giving you this command I don't praise you that you come
- 7:34together not for the better, but for the worse.
- 7:37For first of all, when you come together in the assembly, I hear
- 7:41that divisions exist among you, and I partly believe it.
- 7:45For there also must be factions among you, that those who are
- 7:48approved may be revealed among you.
- 7:51When therefore, you assemble yourselves together, it is not
- 7:54the Lord's Supper that you eat. For in your eating each one
- 7:58takes his own supper. First one is hungry and another
- 8:01is drunken. What, don't you have houses to
- 8:04eat and to drink in? Or do you despise God's
- 8:07assembly, and put them to shame who don't have enough?
- 8:10What shall I tell you? Shall I praise you in this?
- 8:13I don't praise you. For I received from the Lord
- 8:16that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the
- 8:20night in which he was betrayed, took bread.
- 8:22When he had given thanks, he broke it and said, Take, eat.
- 8:27This is my body which is broken for you.
- 8:29Do this in memory of me. In the same way he also took the
- 8:33cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my
- 8:37blood. Do this as often as you drink in
- 8:40memory of me. For as often as you eat this
- 8:43bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until
- 8:46he comes. Therefore whoever eats this
- 8:50bread or drinks the Lord's cup in a way unworthy of the Lord,
- 8:53will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
- 8:57But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread
- 9:00and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an
- 9:04unworthy way eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he
- 9:07doesn't discern the Lord's body. For this cause many among you
- 9:11are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.
- 9:14For if we discerned ourselves, we wouldn't be judged.
- 9:18But when we are judged, we are punished by the Lord, that we
- 9:21may not be condemned with the world.
- 9:24Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for
- 9:27one another. But if anyone is hungry, let him
- 9:30eat at home, lest your coming together be for judgement.
- 9:34The rest I will set an order whenever I come.
