- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
- 0:06Speaker 1: where we left off with the Ted Waite testimony he
- 0:09Speaker 1: gave to Congress MSS Cathay. Question did you ever assist
- 0:13Speaker 1: miss Maxwell and finding employees to work for? Answer? To
- 0:17Speaker 1: work for or no? Question you never helped her search
- 0:20Speaker 1: for candidates or anything? Answer no, not that I can
- 0:23Speaker 1: think of. Question I'd like to return now to minority
- 0:27Speaker 1: exhibit marked as G get that back. This is located
- 0:31Speaker 1: on the first page of EFTA number ending nine zero
- 0:35Speaker 1: five eight. There's an email from Glenn Maxwell to Ted
- 0:38Speaker 1: Waite dated April second, two thousand and four, and the
- 0:41Speaker 1: first sentence says, one of the things I'm working on
- 0:44Speaker 1: is finding someone to work for you. I think I
- 0:46Speaker 1: have some potential candidates. Do you know what miss Maxwell
- 0:50Speaker 1: is referring to here? Answer? I do not. Question do
- 0:53Speaker 1: you know generally of her ever finding employees to work
- 0:57Speaker 1: for you? Answer? I think she did assist with finding
- 0:59Speaker 1: life housekeeping staff when I was setting up a new
- 1:02Speaker 1: house after my divorce with my wife. Question did you
- 1:06Speaker 1: ever find anyone to help you in the office with
- 1:08Speaker 1: your foundation? Answer? I don't really know. I don't believe so,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Miss Mace. Can I ask one last question then I'm out?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Miss Cathe Yeah, Mace okay. Going back to the seven million,
- 1:19Speaker 1: two hundred and eleven thousand, two hundred and thirty eight
- 1:21Speaker 1: dollars gift to Maxwell, was there any legal document between
- 1:25Speaker 1: the two of you about what that money was for
- 1:28Speaker 1: or why anything for any legal or liability reason. Was
- 1:32Speaker 1: an attorney involved? Was there any documentation about what it
- 1:35Speaker 1: was Mister Waite, It was handled by my staff. Later.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I did not want to have any contact with or
- 1:43Speaker 1: relationship with her, so I think the final negotiations were
- 1:46Speaker 1: handled by my finance and legal team, Miss Mace. Did
- 1:51Speaker 1: you normally pay off ex girlfriends? Is that a thing?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Miss Callen? Just for the record, he was married when
- 1:55Speaker 1: he founded his company, then he dated Miss Maxwell, and
- 1:58Speaker 1: then he got married again shortly after. Mace. Okay. But
- 2:02Speaker 1: there would have been some kind of legal document between
- 2:04Speaker 1: the two of you about that money, and you know
- 2:08Speaker 1: how you arrived to that figure. It's a very specific figure.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Mister Wait. I believe it was a deduction for the
- 2:15Speaker 1: gift tax. Mace okay, Wait, it was deducted from it. Mace.
- 2:19Speaker 1: All right, that's it, Thank you, mister spector. You said
- 2:23Speaker 1: it was the negotiations that were handled by your staff,
- 2:26Speaker 1: answered the final elements, Yeah, they were handled by my team.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Questions So, just to be clear, was there some kind
- 2:31Speaker 1: of negotiation back and forth with Maxwell about the amount? Answer?
- 2:35Speaker 1: I don't recall. I think it was. I recall her
- 2:38Speaker 1: not being happy with the amount, wanting more, But that
- 2:40Speaker 1: doesn't matter. Question she wanted more than seven point two million? Answer? Yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I didn't. So gets cut off by the person asking
- 2:48Speaker 1: the questions. I'm sorry. Just to be clear, she wanted
- 2:51Speaker 1: more than seven point two million? Answer, I don't know.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I didn't want to have anything to do with it.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I had my team handle it at the end. And
- 3:00Speaker 1: so from your recollection, maybe someone on your staff informed
- 3:03Speaker 1: you that she was unhappy with the seven point two
- 3:05Speaker 1: million answer yeah. I think someone on my staff might
- 3:08Speaker 1: have said she was very unhappy with the breakup, and
- 3:10Speaker 1: she was not, you know, in a good state. She
- 3:12Speaker 1: was quite devastated by the breakup. So at that point
- 3:15Speaker 1: I didn't want to get directly involved, and I had
- 3:18Speaker 1: my team handle the final details. Question sure, thank you,
- 3:21Speaker 1: Ms Cathay. Question to that point, outside of the cash
- 3:25Speaker 1: seven point two million and other money you might have
- 3:27Speaker 1: given her. Did you have assets that you and miss
- 3:30Speaker 1: Maxwell owned together that was tied up? Answer we didn't
- 3:33Speaker 1: have any assets that we owned together. Question staying on
- 3:36Speaker 1: the topic generally, did you have a professional or financial
- 3:39Speaker 1: relationship with Miss Maxwell outside of your romantic relationship with her? Answer? No,
- 3:45Speaker 1: like professional or financial Other than the financial support the
- 3:49Speaker 1: thirty thousand a month, there was no financial relationship. Question
- 3:53Speaker 1: So to clarify, did you have any sort of business
- 3:56Speaker 1: relationship with Miss Maxwell? Answer? No? You never invested any
- 4:01Speaker 1: money in business ventures that you brought to you. Answer
- 4:04Speaker 1: not that I can recall. She invested her own money
- 4:06Speaker 1: in some business ventures, but I don't recall having any
- 4:09Speaker 1: investments that we did together. We kept everything separate. Question
- 4:14Speaker 1: So you and miss Maxwell never had any joint bank accounts?
- 4:17Speaker 1: Answer no. Question are you familiar with l max LLC? Answer?
- 4:22Speaker 1: That was the name she used frequently. Question and that
- 4:25Speaker 1: was the name of an entity she owned. Answer I'm
- 4:28Speaker 1: not familiar with that entity specifically or what it did,
- 4:31Speaker 1: but she used that the l max name, But it
- 4:33Speaker 1: sounds like something that she would have had. Question understood.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Do you know of anything else that she named el max.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You say she used it for other things. Answer. I
- 4:42Speaker 1: think her email address was l max. I think that
- 4:45Speaker 1: was a company like her, So I don't know if
- 4:47Speaker 1: at some point, I don't know if it was a
- 4:49Speaker 1: company or what it was. Really question understood. And since
- 4:53Speaker 1: we're on the timeline, we've jumped around to the end
- 4:55Speaker 1: of y'all's relationship. We've touched on it in various ways.
- 4:59Speaker 1: But you mentioned ultimately the relationship ended because you knew
- 5:03Speaker 1: that you weren't going to get married, and we talked
- 5:04Speaker 1: about mister Rostein. So Miss Maxwell said in an interview
- 5:08Speaker 1: with the DOJ in twenty twenty five that the relationship
- 5:12Speaker 1: quote couldn't survive the black mail threats that were issued
- 5:15Speaker 1: against you by mister Rostein. So why would miss Maxwell
- 5:18Speaker 1: say that is the reason the relationship ended. Well, because
- 5:21Speaker 1: she's a liar, that's why. Answer, I have no idea.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Question did she ever express to you during the breakup
- 5:28Speaker 1: that that was the reason for the relationship ending? Answer
- 5:31Speaker 1: not that I can recall. Question So, in no way
- 5:34Speaker 1: for you anyway, did the black mail threats and mister
- 5:36Speaker 1: Rostein contacting you have anything to do with the breakup? Answer? No,
- 5:40Speaker 1: misterses Caldanny, were you aware of any blackmail threats at
- 5:44Speaker 1: the time? Answer no, Specter. Was there anything about your
- 5:48Speaker 1: relationship with Miss Maxwell that could have been leveraged for blackmail?
- 5:52Speaker 1: Answer no, Miss Callen, And just to be clear, it's
- 5:56Speaker 1: not his understanding that he was ever being blackmailed. It
- 5:58Speaker 1: was a business deal his understanding that's being proposed, and
- 6:02Speaker 1: he declined, and I think there's documents to that effect,
- 6:06Speaker 1: Ms Cathay. Outside of the business deal the proposal. Did
- 6:09Speaker 1: mister Rostein ever contact you regarding lawsuits against Miss Maxwell?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Mister Waite, I never had any direct contact with mister
- 6:17Speaker 1: Rostein spector with interactions of that sort. I mean, you're
- 6:21Speaker 1: a very successful person, of course, and you just mentioned,
- 6:24Speaker 1: of course you have staff. Would an interaction like that,
- 6:28Speaker 1: you know, these sorts of discussions, would that even normally
- 6:31Speaker 1: get go straight to you? Or is that the kind
- 6:33Speaker 1: of thing your staff would handle anyway, mister Waite, it
- 6:36Speaker 1: came through a friend of mine at the time. Rostein
- 6:39Speaker 1: approached a friend or they got together and he approached
- 6:42Speaker 1: my right hand person at the time, mister Spector. Who
- 6:45Speaker 1: is that, mister Waite, the guy that ran my family office.
- 6:49Speaker 1: He worked for me for thirty plus years, and so
- 6:52Speaker 1: mister Descala approached him, and then he brought it to
- 6:55Speaker 1: my attention because it was a friend of mine. He
- 6:57Speaker 1: probably never would have even brought it to my never
- 7:01Speaker 1: would have made it to my desk if it wasn't
- 7:02Speaker 1: somebody that I knew that brought it in specter. Okay,
- 7:06Speaker 1: thank you, Miss Cathay. Question did you inform Miss Maxwell
- 7:10Speaker 1: about the contact? Answer? I believe I did. I believe
- 7:13Speaker 1: that there's an email that says I did. Question do
- 7:16Speaker 1: you remember any conversation outside of those emails about mister
- 7:19Speaker 1: Rostein contacting you that you had with Miss Maxwell? Answer?
- 7:23Speaker 1: I don't recall any conversations. No question. Was the first
- 7:27Speaker 1: time that Miss Maxwell had heard about what mister Rosstein
- 7:30Speaker 1: brought up? Answer? I don't know. Mister Grant jumps in.
- 7:33Speaker 1: You mentioned Miss Maxwell and yourself went to mister Epstein's
- 7:36Speaker 1: pom Beach house. She invited you in, but you decided
- 7:39Speaker 1: to wait in the car. I believe you said she
- 7:42Speaker 1: needed to get something from the house. Do you know
- 7:44Speaker 1: what she had to get? Answer? No question. Did she
- 7:47Speaker 1: walk out with anything? Answer? I don't remember. Question. And
- 7:51Speaker 1: when you were in the Palm Beach. Were you guys
- 7:54Speaker 1: already there just for a vacation or some other purpose? Answer? Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 1: we were there for some other purpose and it wasn't
- 8:00Speaker 1: targeted tripped upon beach. Answer no, mister Grant. Thank you,
- 8:04Speaker 1: Miss Cathay for clarity of the record, because we've bounced
- 8:07Speaker 1: around so much. Did you maintain any other former relationship
- 8:11Speaker 1: with Miss Maxwell following the end of your romantic relationship,
- 8:14Speaker 1: mister Waite, No, Miss Cathay, and I believe you did
- 8:18Speaker 1: mention this earlier. But when was the last time that
- 8:20Speaker 1: you spoke to Miss Maxwell? Mister Waite, The last time
- 8:23Speaker 1: I recall speaking to her was at this Economist Ocean
- 8:27Speaker 1: conference in San Francisco that she appeared at, and it
- 8:30Speaker 1: was quite shocking and surprising that she was there. But
- 8:33Speaker 1: that was the last time I remember speaking to her.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I'm not sure what year that was, mister Spector. Did
- 8:40Speaker 1: any proxy or mutual friend intermediary of any kind ever
- 8:43Speaker 1: tried to pass a message from Miss Maxwell or tell
- 8:45Speaker 1: you that you wanted to talk to you after you
- 8:48Speaker 1: broke up, mister Waite, No, Miss Cathay, And who put
- 8:52Speaker 1: on the ocean event, mister Waite, the Economist, the magazine,
- 8:56Speaker 1: Miss Cathay the Economist. Okay, thank you, I miss that,
- 8:59Speaker 1: Miss ms Callen. I think we've tried to look for
- 9:02Speaker 1: the date and we can't find it. Mister Spector, it
- 9:06Speaker 1: was an oceanfront conference though, answer ocean conservation. That's where
- 9:10Speaker 1: I spend most of my time. Question and so, miss Maxwell,
- 9:13Speaker 1: was there likely for Taramar project? Is that right? Answer exactly?
- 9:17Speaker 1: Question did she ever? I think you've already, by the
- 9:20Speaker 1: way my last question answered this. But did her or
- 9:24Speaker 1: any of her proxies ever ask for a financial assistance
- 9:27Speaker 1: or donations for that project? Answer no, I did not
- 9:31Speaker 1: donate anything to the project, mister Spector, Thank you, Ms Cathay.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Question did you have any involvement with Taramar project? Answer no.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Question mister Waite, are you familiar with the Clinton Foundation?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Answer yes. Question and what was the nature and extent
- 9:47Speaker 1: of your involvement in the Clinton Foundation? Answer? I've gone
- 9:51Speaker 1: on trips with Bill Clinton when he's representing the Clinton Foundation.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I made some smaller donations to the foundation than I said.
- 9:58Speaker 1: The major donation was the Clinton Library. I think that
- 10:01Speaker 1: went through the Clinton Foundation, but it was specifically for
- 10:04Speaker 1: the library. Question how many trips did you go on
- 10:07Speaker 1: with President Clinton. Answer, I remember accompanying him on a
- 10:11Speaker 1: trip and like maybe the two big international trips, one
- 10:15Speaker 1: to South Africa and one to when he was doing
- 10:18Speaker 1: the tsunami relief an AIDS trip and Papua New Guinea
- 10:21Speaker 1: and Indonesia and Thailand. Question do you remember what year
- 10:25Speaker 1: these trips were? Answer? I do not. Question do you
- 10:28Speaker 1: remember do you remember who else was on the trip
- 10:31Speaker 1: or either of these trips? Answer on the one, I
- 10:34Speaker 1: believe miss Maxwell was on that trip. Question which one
- 10:37Speaker 1: was that? Answer the one that went to Bandaachi, Indonesia,
- 10:41Speaker 1: Thailand areas affected President Clinton for the tsunami relief. There
- 10:47Speaker 1: was a major tsunami that happened in the mid two thousands.
- 10:49Speaker 1: It was very devastating. He went on that trip and
- 10:52Speaker 1: then he did an AIDS signed an AIDS treaty and
- 10:55Speaker 1: Papa New Guinea. Question and miss Maxwell was not on
- 10:58Speaker 1: the trip to Papa New Guinea. Answer, I believe she was.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Question she was on the trip? Answer, I believe she was. Question,
- 11:06Speaker 1: So forgive me for misunderstanding. There were two trips with
- 11:09Speaker 1: miss Maxwell. Answer that was one long trip. That was
- 11:13Speaker 1: one long trip. Question that was one long trip and
- 11:16Speaker 1: the other trip was too gets cut off by weight.
- 11:19Speaker 1: The other trip was Miss Maxwell was not on that
- 11:22Speaker 1: I recall and I went to South Africa. Question and
- 11:25Speaker 1: what was that trip for? Answer? That was for Nelson
- 11:28Speaker 1: Mandela's eighty fifth birthday. Question. Okay, was mister Epstein on
- 11:31Speaker 1: the trip? Answer no question. Was he on the other trip?
- 11:36Speaker 1: Answer no question? Okay, thank you. All right, folks, we're
- 11:39Speaker 1: gonna wrap up right here, and in the next episode
- 11:41Speaker 1: dealing with the topic, we're gonna pick up where we
- 11:44Speaker 1: left off. All the information that goes with this episode
