- 0:59Speaker 1: I am all feel free to dm us over either

- 1:06Speaker 1: or hit me with an email. We are available hello
- 1:10Speaker 1: at Hurdle dot us. Today I want to talk to
- 1:12Speaker 1: you about what happens when you just take a step
- 1:15Speaker 1: away for a second. I've been working on a deal
- 1:19Speaker 1: that I can't talk about just yet, but I have
- 1:21Speaker 1: been like prowling my inbox over this with baited breath
- 1:26Speaker 1: another thing that tried to say that one five times fast,
- 1:29Speaker 1: and it has been in the works for a second.
- 1:31Speaker 1: It's really exciting to me, and I feel so many
- 1:35Speaker 1: things about it. It feels synergistic with what I have
- 1:38Speaker 1: going on. I feel as though this opportunity is an
- 1:42Speaker 1: opportunity that will enable me and empower me to reach
- 1:46Speaker 1: more people. And so yeah, I've been excited about it,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and I've also been just checking my email a lot.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So this morning I got up and I did a
- 1:57Speaker 1: workout and I got my act together. I was going
- 1:59Speaker 1: to meet a good friend, Hey, Lauren, what's up. I
- 2:02Speaker 1: know you're listening to this at a coworking spot in Dumbo,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and I probably went I'm not even exaggerating, maybe like
- 2:11Speaker 1: an hour ish without checking my email, and I was
- 2:14Speaker 1: just in my flow state and getting things done whatnot.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I sat down to the desk in Dumbo, which is
- 2:22Speaker 1: a part of Brooklyn, and there was an email and
- 2:25Speaker 1: the email asked me to get on a call in
- 2:28Speaker 1: a few hours. And I got on the call. And
- 2:31Speaker 1: I feel as though it is human nature to get
- 2:34Speaker 1: to this point where we're preparing for the worst, right
- 2:36Speaker 1: So I went into the call thinking a lot of
- 2:39Speaker 1: things could happen here, and I was met with not
- 2:43Speaker 1: only my desired outcome, but it was better than I
- 2:46Speaker 1: could have imagined. And so I thought to myself in
- 2:51Speaker 1: this experience which I'm talking about now obviously, that I
- 2:55Speaker 1: let go a little bit and I allowed thing just
- 3:00Speaker 1: too unfold as they would have unfolded whether or not
- 3:03Speaker 1: I was sitting there and stressing about it. How often
- 3:06Speaker 1: are we so worried and frustrated about making sure that
- 3:11Speaker 1: everything is going some certain way? And a lot of
- 3:14Speaker 1: the times the things that we are so stressed out
- 3:17Speaker 1: over are things that we absolutely have no control over.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I get it, I go there often. But there is
- 3:26Speaker 1: so much freedom in releasing the anxiety that goes hand
- 3:30Speaker 1: in hand with the things that you cannot control. There
- 3:34Speaker 1: is so much freedom in throwing your hands up in
- 3:37Speaker 1: the air and saying, I surrender to whatever is supposed
- 3:42Speaker 1: to happen for me in this moment, sitting there and
- 3:46Speaker 1: worrying it wasn't going to do me any favors, and yes,
- 3:50Speaker 1: one more time, it's easier said than done. But what
- 3:54Speaker 1: happens if you think about what you can do with
- 3:56Speaker 1: that amount of bandwidth that you were pouring into something
- 3:59Speaker 1: that wasn't serving you, To do something that can right,
- 4:04Speaker 1: to focus on something that gives back to you an
- 4:08Speaker 1: energy faucet instead of an energy drain. So I prompt
- 4:14Speaker 1: for you this week, what is something that is an
- 4:17Speaker 1: energy drain for you this moment? And how can you
- 4:21Speaker 1: redirect your energy into something that will serve you. What
- 4:25Speaker 1: is something right now something you're stressing about that you
- 4:28Speaker 1: actually have absolutely no control over that you can just
- 4:32Speaker 1: let that go for now and instead focus on something
- 4:36Speaker 1: that gives back to you. And now a listener question. Hey, Emily,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I saw you started running again and I wanted to ask,
- 4:46Speaker 1: how are you really feeling about training for what is
- 4:49Speaker 1: probably your last marathon? Oh my gosh, the way that
- 4:53Speaker 1: that question was phrased. I'm just going to say this.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I don't know that Tokyo will be my last marathon,
- 4:58Speaker 1: but it is my last World marathon major, and I
- 5:03Speaker 1: feel anxious as hell. And I know I just gave
- 5:06Speaker 1: you this whole spiel about letting go of your anxieties.
- 5:08Speaker 1: But there are things that I can do within my
- 5:11Speaker 1: capacity during this training cycle to keep my anxiety at bay.
- 5:16Speaker 1: As I've spoken about in recent five minute Fridays catching
- 5:20Speaker 1: up with y'all, I have some tendinitis on my left knee,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and so this training cycle just like my last training
- 5:25Speaker 1: cycle for Berlin, when I was dealing with planterfasciitis looks
- 5:29Speaker 1: different than quote unquote it should. It involves me as
- 5:33Speaker 1: of right now, running twice a week and biking twice
- 5:36Speaker 1: a week, and I'm not doing any long runs. I'm
- 5:39Speaker 1: only doing long bikes and that is a little concerning.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But I'm at this point where I am admittedly, now
- 5:48Speaker 1: that I say this out loud, letting go of the
- 5:50Speaker 1: things that I cannot control and surrendering to the guidance
- 5:54Speaker 1: of someone who knows how to handle this better than me,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and that is my physical therapist. So aside from the
- 6:02Speaker 1: complications that come with my body, which I love very much,
- 6:05Speaker 1: I am elated about Tokyo. I am so excited to go.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I have never been. I'm tacking it on to another
- 6:14Speaker 1: trip and it's really going to be just a once
- 6:18Speaker 1: in a lifetime experience that I feel so blessed and
- 6:22Speaker 1: privileged to have the opportunity to go after. So yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 1: my heart and my mindset is mostly on gratitude with
- 6:30Speaker 1: a little side of anxiety. But I am really looking
- 6:34Speaker 1: forward to accomplishing this massive goal, which if you asked
- 6:39Speaker 1: Emily a decade ago, if she'd be doing something like this. Yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I don't know if she'd believe you again. I'm over
- 6:46Speaker 1: at Emily Abadi at Hurdle Podcast Let's Talk Online. I'd
- 6:51Speaker 1: love to hear from you another hurdle conquered. Catch you
- 6:55Speaker 1: guys next time. AM to MA
