Toronto’s outdoor pools are closing Thursday, July 16th, due to dangerously poor air quality from wildfire smoke drifting in from northwestern Ontario. With an Orange Air Quality Warning in place and air pollution ranking among the worst globally, city officials — after consulting the Medical Officer of Health — decided it’s too risky for people to be outside, especially at pools. Indoor recreation centers remain open, but outdoor CampTO programs and other city events are being canceled or postponed.
