Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_03]: And we're on, and this is three yards per carry.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm afraid of Tiagas.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm in Clancy's here.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_03]: Chris Kaufman is here.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_03]: And we don't have any sponsors right now, but we will have several beginning next week.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_03]: So you'll be hearing me reading a bunch of stuff at the top and in the middle of the shop.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_03]: But first, let's start with a little breaking news.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: Adolphins have signed Matthew Judon to a contract worth up to six million dollars.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_03]: I guess you could say that they replaced Joey Bosa with Matthew Judon about five months later.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: I think it just makes perfect sense.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think now you can say you have a deep edge group.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_03]: I know people are big fans of Grace and Murphy and McClendon.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_03]: Quinn Bill has done absolutely nothing.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_03]: And Mokamara has been injured all camp.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_03]: But Grace and Murphy's really really just limited and he's so one-dimensional.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_03]: I just can't see how he can help you in a regular season game.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: I think this just makes perfect sense.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: You're that Simon.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think, you know, when you know that your secondary is bad, you'd better plan to get home with four past rushers as often as you can to mitigate a kind of disaster on the back end.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I think
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you look and we've talked about this all of the season.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: You couple all of that with the pitch count for Phillips and Sharp who are coming off serious injuries.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's obviously a reason why they're signing Jude on and I think, you know, that those two having started only nine of the last fifty two games.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: This makes sense, you know, and people are saying, why aren't we signing a call about why?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: I do think the call about will come.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think it will come in a trade.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this is a three-headed monster.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: The first is there's a bad secondary.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: So let's try and just get home as much as we can due to, I had five and a half sacks last year on a pitch count himself.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: The second is the injuries.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: And the third, I think they're probably going to look to try and trade.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: One of those guys that you mentioned that, you know, a pure sub-packaged pass rush, like a grace of Murphy, you've shown you can get home, but can do little else.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: a good edge setter, can play the running, can play special teams like Quentin Bell.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: You're looking at somebody who's looking for an edge player or for somebody who can just be a rotational, run defender and you're trying to parlay that Chris into a corner back.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's maybe falling a bit down the roster of a team like an Arizona with Catro Clarke or a, you know, Chidobia Wuzia or a guard like that who can just come in and just nose the scheme and can do a job from day one.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, a couple of things on this is one.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think that Mike McDaniel is a big fan of Matthew Judon.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: So, so I think that that plays into it.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: Remember a couple of years ago, Judon played for the for the New England Patriots and I remember in that game, you know, supposed to be one where he was going to be a big problem because if I think some maybe some injuries and who is going to face up on the offense blind.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: He came up with an entire game plan centered around getting the ball out in under two seconds.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry to interrupt you Chris, but if you remember, he refused to be included in the Larry Mutantial Deal.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_03]: Remember?
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's, and I think that that shows the respect that he has for him.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: This was foreshadowed as you suggested already by the Joey Bosa interest at the beginning of reagency.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: This is about, this is about the fact that you have two guys with severe injury history.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's very thick medical files in Bradley Chobham, Jalen Phillips, probably going to be on pitch counts to start the year.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: And so, yeah, you do need, you didn't really help there.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: And for the people that are saying,
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: that Grayson Murphy, you know, he's done so well in preseason, you know, he is a good care pass rusher.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Those people that are really upset about, uh, june on his behalf, this might be the thing that actually allows them to keep a pure pass rusher like Grayson Murphy.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: Because otherwise, they're going to have to try and get guys that can cover their
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: ability or cover their needs and run defense and guys you can run this sort of you know disguised simulated pressure stunt heavy kind of defensive front that they like in the system.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody that can own the system they're probably going to have to keep multiple guys that they could trust against the run and to own the system in that regard.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: Instead of a grace and Murphy who is just a pure half-fresher who also plays some special teams.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: He did lead.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: He is leading the team and special teams snaps in the preseason and grace and Murphy is.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: So this might be the thing that actually allows them to keep them because he is just a pure half-fresher.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and I think we can move on off of this.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_03]: You mentioned a few cornerbacks, by the way, Simon.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't understand what's going on with a woozy.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like, this is one of the better cornerbacks in football two years ago.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_03]: Then his body started falling apart, but he still got money this offseason.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think you've got to look for sort of teams that have, you're looking for guys in coming and skiing fit.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the fact that, you know, campsmith still doesn't understand the defense particularly, whereas Jack Jones for all his, the, for all the criticism about Jack Jones, K-Ren and essentially learnt the skiing within a week.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: So you're looking for guys
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: who understand the scheme.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Should I be always the A would be one of those guys?
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: And the Ravens have a lot of cornerbacks.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously there's some issues with Jair, Alexander, but you look, you know, Holly Connelly mentioned Jagan Armadavis, for example, the kid at Alabama, who has been there a couple of seasons, would be a fit.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about juju-brent, so Indianapolis is falling down the roster.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Emmanuel Forbes, we talked about just a minute ago, we talked about the kid Arizona Clark, you know, it's those kind of players, I think.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_03]: Joshua Williams from Kansas City is an interesting, because the guy opened up his mouth asking for money and they said, okay, how would you like to start playing fourth quarters in the preseason?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: The Jorank leader at the Rams, I think, is a potential player, Monterey Brown at Jacksonville.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: All these guys, you might just be slipping down the roster, who might be the fourth or fifth guy, just for a team that's kind of looking to maybe just parlayer, you know, a later ramp here, or, you know, they may be the one guy, sure, and, you know, looking for somebody who can set the edge in the run game as a rotation of a guy, and, you know, be a special team's captain, all that sort of thing.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, we saw that the trade for Jorkorian, Bennett the other day that the Eagles did with them,
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: with a DT that they, you know, Miami weren't involved with that one, but they sent the DT to the raven, to the raiders and got your car in Bennett.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's that kind of deal that you're looking for.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a guy that might be on the fringe, but you can, you know, let's, let's take something that we probably do quite like, but probably won't keep and take something that you, you know, probably don't like, but might keep and let's, let's see if we can get something out of it.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, I suspect that's what Miami, I mean, they've got to do something, so I suspect that's what, what they're looking to do.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_03]: Chris, you guys aren't there for this?
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: No, just especially in the game when when you have Ethan Bonner go down with the hamstring and breathing and he's now going to be out a couple of weeks.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: That just makes this this corner need all the more pressing because frankly he was having a good free season and he didn't have a lot of promise last year.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: But I was told that last year was a lot about those injuries stacking up.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: that he was facing, not the type of injuries that, you know, keep him, I guess away from the practice field, but the type of injuries that you try and, you know, work your way through anyway, but just held him back and he just was an effective.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: So, so I think that,
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: his injury again, you know, it's it's just more of what mine is used to these guys always getting hurt and that just makes the need for that corner position just just so incredibly dire at this point.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's move on to this game against the lines and let's start with the offense.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll start with the offensive line.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_03]: My thoughts are pretty pretty simple.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_03]: I thought Braiding Daniels has become the best guard past the two starters.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_03]: So the third best guard on this team.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_03]: Clearly, I think Danny Bronzco has been absolutely awful all camp.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm wondering, and I'd like to get the feedback of both of you on this.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_03]: If they just fall back on his NFL resume and his take from last year and say, we'll give him a pass for the preseason and we'll roster him.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_03]: because he's just been really, really bad.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I guess Larry Borm gets a pass off of this game.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he played all right.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: And I could see the vision where he can play a gamer two at right tackle.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_03]: And my final thought on the offensive line is they still don't have a left tackle on this team past Patrick Paul.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_03]: And I guess you could get by for a gamer two at right tackle with Larry Borm.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: They have nothing else.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_03]: Your thoughts on the offensive line coming out of this game.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm in and my brun skill a question of course.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I suspect Brasker will be kept around because he can play multiple positions and Andrew Meyer obviously being injured is, you know, helps his cause in many ways.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think the dolphins do have a left tackle back up now.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was obvious in that I'm not saying it's a good, it's a good option.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: It was clear that Keyonsmith having played every single snap against Detroit is next man up at left tackle.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: That to me, I think is, you know,
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: who else is going to be playing that position and unless they believe that Lea Mike and Berg is going to be the number one backup left tackle, which I just can't see.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, he's a guy that can play guard, you know, he's a guy that can play tap left tackle, but, you know, you don't want him there.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure that you won't key on Smith there either, but he's probably the best of a pretty bad bunch.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Borom is not going to play on the left side to my knowledge.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you were right.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: I thought you played a little bit better, but the bar is so low that, you know, we're
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is low-hanging fruit.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was funny that your only Caduceus.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's already already just wild.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_03]: This is some elaborate money-landering scheme that the dolphins are running because Johnny Caduce, look, it's official.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_03]: He did not practice with the dolphins.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, and they get on a plane though.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_03]: So for the plane ride, he got a free meal.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, are they going to call up DJ Fluper now?
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the guy that the Georgia guy that the Titans took in the first round that we brought in and then.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, my God.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: What was that guy's name?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, like a little sinister something.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_03]: Isaiah something.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: Wilson was it.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, we cut him and the very next day he did a he did an Instagram where he says he was going to get serious about football and the day after that he was arrested standing.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: He was standing inside of a of a convertible.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm seeing traffic.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's like these guys coming.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a real estate broker that's like, you know, doing tricks to hide water damage in the house.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: like these guys come in and work out with us and then they're already injured they already have a collection of injuries as soon as they get here it's like oh my back you know like and so now they now they've got to go on IR and they've got to get an injury settlement and I'm not just wondering like you know well why not just why not just do the same thing with DJ Floker they did that once before why not do it with uh with Eric Fisher that was the best early uh let's just bring it all back in and just hand out some money
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a quiz question for you.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: How many snaps did Isaiah Wilson, the twenty-nine overall pick in the twenty-twenty draft?
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: How many snaps did he, as he played in the NFL?
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oh God.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Twenty-seven.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Chris?
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: I was, I was gonna say like thirty or something like that.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_04]: Like, okay.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_04]: Four.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_04]: Were they good snaps though?
- 12:06[SPEAKER_04]: Do you have the money?
- 12:07[SPEAKER_03]: How many of those money?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: How many of those snaps?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: How many of those snaps?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: How many of those snaps would kneel down?
- 12:17[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go with the outrageous number and say three Chris Wow three, okay, so do you have do you have film of that one snap that he played?
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: I sure we could find it.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: What was this PFF grade on that one?
- 12:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'd love to know.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_03]: Wait a minute.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_03]: It took, it only took us eight years to stumble into something here on the podcast.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_03]: Chris, you just said what was his PFF grade on that one snap, right?
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, that's my mission for tomorrow.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to look for that one snap and we're going to find this what this great for that one snap and so that way we will know what PFF is actually looking at.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: How many how many days from being signed by the Dolphins to being cut by the Dolphins?
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: Did he have as a Miami Dolphin and is it more or less the amount of Neodality?
- 13:17[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to go more.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_04]: It was like six days, no?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, Chris.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I thought it was only like four days.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_04]: It was three days.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_04]: Damn it.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: And how many workouts did he miss through the dolphins?
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: All of them.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: I'm pretty sure it's all of them.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he was late for the physical of day water that he next to day workouts.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: And he was got
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: That is wild.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_03]: That is wild.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_03]: That guy took getting drafted in the first round as his destination in life.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_03]: Like he was like, I made it.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Zero Fox.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_03]: That guy made it.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_03]: That guy somehow made it to the first round of the NFL draft and said, okay, that's it.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'm done.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what he's doing now.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe nothing good.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, back to the dolphins.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Jackson Carlin was absolute cheeks.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Ryan Hayes is not going to make the team.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: The one player, look, I haven't watched it back.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't watched the old twenty two back.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: I know Chris has done.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Braden down as by the way.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was excellent.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, especially as a run blocker.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought it was instructive that he made in the fourth quarter.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: against the bears and he was bumped up to second quarter action, a left guard, he played right guard against the bears, he was left guard against the lions.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he did a pretty good job, actually.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen Josh Prebe at the Michigan Guard.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but my just eyes on just during the game, I thought he looked okay, but as I said, I haven't done the old twenty two, but um, look, they're going to, they're going to piece me or something together and just pray that they're starting five, stay healthy or season.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: My understanding as I mentioned in, um,
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: in discord.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: Earlier on it is that it is fifty fifty outbest that at the moment as we stand here today on August the eighteen that Austin Jackson is available for week one.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean Larry Bohr and week one against Leia to Lato is not necessarily something I would be.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: And also as you alluded to before, who's your swing back up to Larry Bohr and Patrick Paul?
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, it's he on Smith, I guess, but I mean, that's that's rough.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's having a very rough free season.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Simon, I interpreted the fact that he took every snap at left tackle as almost like a maya culpa by the dolphins because clearly they've done a disservice to the man and, you know, out you reported this.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: Omar Kelly is reported that others are reported that during training camp, he's basically playing different positions all the time every day.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and during the game against the bears, like I said before, he actually played four positions during that game, which is ridiculous.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: And so this was sort of a, any, of course, he looked off of.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: And so this, I thought this was sort of a man, Copa, like, hey, we're just going to put you at the one position.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: let you focus on it, let you try and get better at it so that we have something here with you.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, I think it might be too late because I thought he was cheap.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: In that game, I thought he was, he was still bad.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: This is still the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in that game, I thought he was, he was still bad.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: This is still the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the,
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, he's really struggling and I don't know how you trust it.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how you trust that at this point, but I also don't know what choice you have, because as you suggested, Larry Borem could be starting the week one at right tackle.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: The other possible option, and they won't do it, but if Forum gets her, the other in Jackson is down, the other potential option, although, like I said, they probably wouldn't do it.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: His Jonas Havana has played a lot of right tackle.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, Arizona.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: You could easily put a braiding Daniels at left guard, for example, or Liam Arkinberg at left guard, and move Savana to right tackle.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: He's played, you know, he started there for multiple games across two seasons for Arizona.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: So I wouldn't
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it doesn't strike me as a sort of thing.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: They probably want to do to move a rookie, but he's got the ability to play there.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll have to see.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: Early a desperate move, if you do that, if you open that, it just shows where they are.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: Desks of times do call for desperate measures.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: And as for how the guys did in the game itself, I kind of have a couple of thoughts.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: One, Daniel Brunsfield's worst position is that center.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: So, and that, you know, going all the way back to his career.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: And they've had them play exclusively center in these preseason games.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't, you know, I don't know about getting over game.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that it necessarily outweighs the full, the full weight of his NFL game film.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think that he's going to be captain.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be relied upon.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: Now, as for Jonah, Savannah, at some point you're going to start, you're going to start worrying like,
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: What is he going to be as a rookie?
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think fans think and hope that he's going to be phenomenal as a rookie.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: What we're seeing in the preseason tape so far is not phenomenal, in my opinion.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, it could be middle of the road, it could be mediocre, it could be sub-medioker, which would be normal for a rookie.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, we've got to start wondering about that.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing that we, you know, I mentioned Keyon Smith again, he had a, he had a really, I thought it really challenged performance, even though he got the focus completely on the left tackle position.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't think Bryden Daniel's tape really survived the alt-one-two review, as well as the initial review.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: I thought particularly in past protection, he had a rough go of it.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_02]: If you really looked at his snap or snap at left guard, he did, of course, stand out in some of the run blocking.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what I think we all noticed on the initial view, but I thought that when you really had dive into it, the alt-one-two, it was a little rough in past growth.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then Josh previous actually thought he did do pretty well.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: He is a professional looking kind of player.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: But he's down on the depth chart.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: You have to keep that in mind like he doesn't he doesn't march out there in these caves until.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, in the second half, as Simon suggested, Brandon Daniel's marching out there in the second quarter is meaningful.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, keep in mind with Breedee that he's, he's down on the depth chart, but he did have an R-A game.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, I thought he, you might have been able to say he had a better game than Brandon Daniel's all the way around.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: Once you account for both past bro and run blocking.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: And that's about it for the offensive one.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's move on to what receiver de-escrit just making this team, right?
- 20:14[SPEAKER_03]: Simon.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think receiver is the other potential position of trade value, but he's doing everything possible.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: It comes down to him and Taraz Washington and I just
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be very disappointed to lose Taj, I've got to say, but Eskrid just putting himself front and center of the, and again, you know, maybe it's a team looking for a, you know, a fifth receiver and some juice in the return game.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't want to be the one making that decision crisp because they've both done really well and Washington brings something a bit different and he's tough and he takes a hit and he keeps on going and he can play the return game as well and he's smart and he's tough and yeah, I mean I didn't want to like I said I wouldn't want to make that decision
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're both going to make it.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think that they're going to keep six.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think they're going to keep six and this is why they traded away John and Smith, right?
- 21:16[SPEAKER_02]: And they traded away John and Smith, one of the reasons they felt comfortable with that is I think this is a re doubling of commitment toward a eleven personnel and three wide receiver personnel.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's the reason they got Nick Westburg bikini in here, even though they still had Malik Washington and even though they're quite
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: Confident and Malik Washington, like they clearly in that first preseason game without Tyre Phil and without Jalen Wattle there.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: It was the Malik Washington show, right?
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that was he was clearly, he's clearly among those top three wide receivers from them.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: But even so they signed Nick West, Dr. Keene and I think that's because they're kind of doubling down on going with three wide receiver and making that work.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: And because of that, because of that, that's why I say that they're going to keep six because it's it's important for them.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that D. S. Gridge, you probably can't cut them at this point because he's one of your main returnmen, like he, like, and I don't know what the alternatives, I don't know that they have very many good alternatives if he's not there to return to the handle returns.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: So he's important that way as for Taj Washington,
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: I would think they keep them.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, at the same time, we tend to overestimate how many players of our players are going to get claimed just before we started recording.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mentioned there's going to be about twelve hundred players put on waivers at the fifty three man cut down date and probably like twenty of them get waiver claimed.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it is an absurdly small number relative to the number of players that are getting cut.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: and people tend to overestimate that all the time.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not the end of the world if a guy does get cut and put on practice squad because A, those practice squad players can play in games.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there are rules that allow them to play in games and B, we overestimate the way we're claiming process anyway.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: All right, move an on to the tight ends.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: I thought Hayden Ruchi, you know, I was, you know, a good bounce back game for him.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he was okay in this game.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: Tata Connor has as clearly.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_03]: He loved the bottom tie and now.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's, oh, I meant Hayden Ruchi rather than Tata Connor.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: You love, you love back in the
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: You love back in the she's tied horse.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: If you're open to bar it should be called Alft's shitty tie ed horse.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_03]: And who would be who would be on the on the logo?
- 23:49[SPEAKER_03]: Like I was going to say ferroledments, but now ferroledments was our right for here, bro.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: My ferroledments would be an all pro in this offense.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_03]: How about Joe Rose?
- 24:01[SPEAKER_04]: John now bone.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's a good one.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's a great.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great man.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good one.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: That is a great man.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's not just a good one, man.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great man.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I don't think we're going to talk too much about the titans.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to ask you this question.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: Name me a titan that played a long time here that was objectively offled.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_03]: You got one Simon?
- 24:21[SPEAKER_03]: Um, until seeing that one, you know, Chris just helped you with that one.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_03]: Get your own.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_03]: Don't smell just got paid from Chicago.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_03]: So somebody thinks he can play.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_03]: You went with Durham's smile.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_03]: That's a little hanging fruit.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_03]: The guy was just here.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_03]: I can be somebody from the nineties or something.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'll come back to me on that before the end of the show.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Chris.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_03]: We're not talking about the title.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I remember the guys that play with Marino in the eighties, Dan Johnson, Bruce Hardy, Jim Jensen.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, that does egg new cow.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, not, but he wasn't here a long time.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: My question is somebody that was here for a while, that was objectively awful.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_03]: You don't got one Chris?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: What's his name?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember Ferrell Edmunds on that final drive against the chiefs when we won the game, seventeen sixteen with the, yes.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Ferrell Edmunds caught a big pass to midfield on that final drive.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: What about Jake Stoneburner?
- 25:26[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, there's one.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know who was underrated?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: Was name Hunter Goodwin?
- 25:32[SPEAKER_03]: Was that was his name?
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I just said when they're good one.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he was underrated.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: He was underrated?
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he was underrated.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he was like a blocker.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he was a blocker.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you who shot Jordan Cameron.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_03]: There you go.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, space helmet can.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: I've got a better one.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've got a better one.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've got that one.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: I have a machine.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's a good one.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: Twenty eight games plays.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that qualifies.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_03]: That's more than a season.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what about hear me out here?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: Because he was here for a little bit.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: He was here for like four years.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't remember him doing jack shit.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: Dion sense.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: The same.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you can't say that he didn't do jack shit when he caught the game winner against the Falcons with ten seconds left.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_03]: I guess I guess.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_04]: Like that that highlights forever.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_04]: He has to get winner.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember Gaita Huskings?
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I do remember Gaita Huskings.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: Marshall Man.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: Marshall Man.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: Cory Spary.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Cory Spary.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now he really did not invite the one guy.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: Jimmy David mine.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: There's there's a good one.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_03]: David Martin was actually going to be a pretty good player until he heard his neck dressing.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_03]: Peel.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Justin to deal there.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's one.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's one for sure.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_03]: The biggest, the biggest free agent bust in the history of the franchise was easily evergreen.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like, that's an obvious one, right?
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: Very great.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: That was the Abesan genome acting as well in there.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: Well, they signed everybody.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_03]: They signed every first rompick in the history of the sport and there were nine games and lost the buffalo in the walkard.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: That sounds like work we're trying to do.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, as much as things change, they stay the same.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_03]: All right, all right, let's move on.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_03]: And let's finish up this part of the show.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_03]: If you notice, we didn't talk tight in at all.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know right in any danger here?
- 27:32[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, to Ali Gordon?
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: He might be.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'd like to see Gordon play with the, you know, the two's and the ones.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: And Jalen's obviously been playing with the two's.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's not had a great, I think Jalen writes a good football player.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: But, I mean, I saw today is the average of one point three yards per carry or one point seven yards per carry the preseason.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of suboptimal at this point.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: And it doesn't help that, you know, these guys, you know, these new guys that just turn up and, you know, Aaron Shampaglin or Harry Say it just rips off a big third yard run or, you know, that's not great for his future, but I can't see them cutting Jane and Ryan at this point.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think maybe this time next year if he's still in the situation.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: But I think Ollie Gordon, he looks like a player, he looks like a running man.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think Jane and Wright's done enough to think that that second string position is secure.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest question for me is if Devon A. Chan is not healthy to play week one because he's got yet another soft tissue injury.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who you going with?
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the question.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: That is a million dollar question assignment because Alex Madison was going to be the guy.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's not even just that he's running back to and I'm trying not to think of them.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_02]: As like just RB one, RB two and so on and so forth.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: He was going to be the guy that has the trust of the coaches to own the playbook and to be the guy on third down when Devon HM is not in because Devon HM doesn't block, right?
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: So when they needed more than than what Devon HM offers,
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: on sort of the third-down playbook, they were going to be able to trust Alex Madison because he could be short yards, he could block, he can also do some things in the passing game and they were flexing that out in that game, that's your cognitive game.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: And now, I mean, he's the coaches, he's the apple of the coaches eye, you know, that's what he's always been, that kind of guy.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: Now you don't have him and I think that that's that's a real, that's a real bigger issue than than a lot of people realize because Jalen Wright is not that guy.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Jalen Wright was going to be a guy that can come in and take carries and gain yards and that's what he's always been good at going back to college.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't know that he's a guy that owns the playbook owns the particularly the third down playbook.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: And does Ali Gordon do that though.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: He's a rookie and and so you know that the big the opportunity is both daunting but also very big for Ali Gordon.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: If he does start to show ownership of that stuff, but that opportunity is also there for jail and right to.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: So when they take all in that competition, because somebody's going to have to do that and somebody's going to be taking a lot of carries, but somebody's going to have to be the sort of the utility guy and the third down guy.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know, at this point, I just don't know who it is.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: But then only Gordon had eighty catches in three seasons in college.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: That is a lot for somebody that I spoke about in the state.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: This is a guy that looked comfortable in both games coming out of the backfield running routes.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's got soft hands.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_03]: That play on the kickoff shows a level of maturity and intelligence, right?
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: And if you can just overcome being a rookie, you know what I mean?
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like an actually own it.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_02]: Then the opportunity is huge for him.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: To me, I think it will probably come down to who can pass protect better on third down.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: I liked J&M Wright's past protection ability at Tennessee in a small sample size.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't translate to the NFL, particularly.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was quite a good and was pretty capable of handling.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: past protection duty at times, you know, at Oklahoma State, you know, and I thought sometimes he played a little bit high and but he could do it.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: I did see me as the best miss a couple in past bro, but he was in on third downs.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I, yeah, I think much as Quinn Uez is pressurizing Zach Wilson a little bit.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think Ollie Gordon's pressurizing Jayden right.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that's fair.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't talked about, we haven't talked about the quarterback situation now.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we're going to take that on the other side.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to go to break.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_03]: And when we come back, we will talk about the defense and the quarterback position because there's plenty to talk about there.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_03]: But first, these words.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm Jaylin Phillips and you're listening to three yards per carry.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and we're back.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_03]: All right, we got to talk about these quarterbacks.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_03]: Zach Wilson has a vision issue, meaning he can't see.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_03]: Because it's evident on the old twenty two.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody, look, he threw for a hundred and fifty one yards in that first half.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_03]: He could have thrown for four hundred yards in that first half if he just could see people because people are popping open in this offense.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that video clip where Kevin thingy, the little comedian and Kevin Hart.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Hart, I'm Dr. Dre.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: I talk about voted Stevie Wonder and it doesn't matter whether it's five a.m.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: or five p.m.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: because Stevie doesn't know anyway.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't get it.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: And we're prompted me to start watching all these snaps for for Zack Wilson was that the Chris kept mentioning like he doesn't see people like people are open in this thing and I'm like okay, I got to watch this people are just running people are running but naked through the ends at through the end zone and the and the and the secondary and he's just like I don't see you so he's being forced to play in rhythm
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: because that's what the NFL demands, right?
- 33:30[SPEAKER_03]: And he kept it.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: No, and no, he can't.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: And he wasn't forced to play in rhythm at BYU.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he did a lot of kind of off-platform off the calf running around, you know, Guy's breaking open late throwing kind of moonballs down the field.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: That sort of thing, which all looked really sexy later night at BYU.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: And lots of us felt for it, but we did.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: We thought, you know,
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: He looked like a good player, he looked like somebody who could be exciting, but he can't play to time, he can't play with the confines of the structure of an offense, and he misses too many lay-ups for a professional quarterback.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: Lucky, you know, he's missing guys who are wide open or he's taking.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's coming out of the bus coming out of beat too early and he's not waiting for a progression on the back end and some of those kind of the the later switch releases he's just not seeing, which I think is an issue.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: And then I think you look at Queen the U.S.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: coming in at the weekend and
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he wasn't John L.A., but I thought he did a decent job of moving the ball.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: He looked, again, he looked comfortable and controlled.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't look flustered in the pocket, particularly.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: He moved the ball down the field to win the game at the end.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it would only be fair for Queen Uez and practice starts again tomorrow.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: If he is taking some of those reps that Zach Wilson has been taking, because you kind of want to see, okay,
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen what is like with Andrew Armstrong and Theo Wees and you know guys like this Hayden Roochie and Shampoo Clean.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: What's he like with Terry Killing, Jane and Madeline?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know, not because he's going to start, but, you know, Kenny can still have the same kind of connection with these guys when it's going a bit faster and he's going against Jane and Philips and Bradley Chab and Chop Robinson, not against, you know, concrete boots Murphy and Quentin Bell, how does it feel?
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when he's throwing against Mink of its Patrick rather than throwing against, you know, John Saunders Jr.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_03]: Let's... Let's then awful nicknamed by the way.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_03]: Concrete boots Murphy, I don't think is a good nickname, right?
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what did I say?
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a Peterville trying to turn around in the country lane.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's it.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_03]: I can't breathe boost Murphy.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: Like, look, a lot of people might listen to that.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was singing.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, let's get it.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the stage.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Can't create boost Murphy.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_03]: Angry boots Murphy.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, boy.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's a different, that's a different connotation with the Italian-American community down here.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, definitely a Boston policeman at one point.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: Concrete beat's nothing.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I don't know if you have thoughts on this, Chris, before we move on.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I do.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_03]: But quarterback position.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: Zach Wilson, the juxtaposition between the compare contrast between Jack and Zach Wilson.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: And and when yours right now is this, I think that Zach Wilson is does not know what he's doing with the football until after the snap.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that when yours knows what he's doing with the football before the snap.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: And that is that is a matter of experience.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think that our when yours has a little bit more experience in the style of offense that that Miami is running.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think that what's his name is as admitted such.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the old start or sarcasm as admitted that he that he stole from Mike the Daniel.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think I think that he doesn't know are he knows kind of what he's doing before the snap and that's why he's able to get things going on time.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: Now there's a good end of bad to that and we've seen that with two early in his career as well.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: But Zach Wilson is going through his progressions and because he's taking his time and going for his progressions, he's consistently late and he is also having trouble just seeing
- 37:19[SPEAKER_02]: What he needs to see to actually throw within anticipation.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: And he's also having trouble with the accuracy with pressure in his face.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's having trouble with layering the football into areas in the field the way that Miami asks him to.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the stuff that he's particularly having trouble with.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: is the stuff that Mike McKangiel, that makes Mike McKangiel's offense his offense and not just like a ubiquitous West Coast offense, and that is probably the most concerning.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_02]: So this overall, I just don't have a lot of faith in the back of quarterback situation because ultimately, when the words is just a seven-ground rookie and things fit all part very quickly if you try to put him in the right game and have him guide the offense.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: Unless he's a property like once in a, you know, God knows how long that.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_03]: That actually once in forty years thing.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: It really is.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_03]: But other than all of that, Zach Wilson was great in that game.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: This is like
- 38:21[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and moving on to the defense, not much to like on on the outside as far as the corners.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_03]: I will say this.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think Jack Jones is kind of solidifying a role on this team, namely because he knows how to play the position.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_03]: Even Bonner, I think, found another injury.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_03]: And that's just awful for him.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_03]: And it looks like he's going to be out weeks.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_03]: Camp Schmidt does what Camp Schmidt does, which is look good for two, three plays.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_03]: And then surely that next injury is on the way.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_03]: Any second now, but I will mention one guy.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_03]: I thought Jason Marshall played well.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're finding something with him playing him in the slot.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he was okay in this game.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_03]: Good tackle or physical?
- 39:01[SPEAKER_03]: Your thoughts on that group.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_03]: Simon and Jason Marshall.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I like Chris talk about Jason Marshall because he did a lot of work on him.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: Look, you know, my thoughts on the secondary.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: It isn't very good.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think you make the right points.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: Hilton and Jones are obviously penciled in.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's trying to find the starter.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because it here, it kind of feels like it's stormed up.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think Bon, I would have been in the mix.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that wasn't very good last year.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: I saw
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I highly recommend you write a great piece about the Dolphins on his sub-stack yesterday or last week or whatever.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: He said if Stormduck was called Todd Smith, nobody would give a shit about him and he wouldn't be playing.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: Which is probably fair.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: You're just looking for somebody who just desperate for somebody to emerge and unfortunately
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: somebody isn't emerging and that's a problem and you know whether that's you know Bonner coronavirus playing better, but he's never been healthy.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's been injured in high school.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's injured at Stanford, Mr. a whole year at Stanford.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's been injured consistently in NFL.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: Cornelot, BG Adams, no Cornel Armstrong.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if he's not going to show it, he's not going to show it this eight year.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to show it.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, he is what he is.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's just not good enough.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I said, Johnson, he moved to safety a little bit.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he's got the size to play there.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: There might be something there.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I don't think he's a corner.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: He can rob it.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, he had the great pick at the end, but didn't play very well generally.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: Kendall Sheffield just, it's just just not good enough.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's a reason why he's been kicked around for a five different teams.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, more than that, Atlanta Houston Dallas Houston San Francisco Tennessee, the Jets and the Dolphins haven't been a fourth round pick only what five years ago.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and Smith.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the light comes on, but like I just don't think that one and a half course of play is, you know, that light bulb moment against four stringers of the Detroit lines.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but that that's actually my fear.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_03]: My fear is that the light comes on.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_03]: You rely on this guy and then he's out for six weeks again with some mysterious hamstring injury, which is, it says Emma.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we are where we are.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look, we made a, you know, our cornerback signings in the off season.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: We made a, you know, a big point of, of that great deal for our arti burns, the great, you know,
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: The great Arty Burns, you know, that was what we did at the corner position, knowing that we were almost certainly going to get rid of Jalen Ramsey, I report it months ago in discord that, you know, people were talking about Jalen Tirek here, and I was saying, look, I've been told that we're going to be trading Jalen Ramsey and being what happened and what we did to replace him was, was Arty Burns.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and they're holding the line with Russell Douglas and something Samuel, I guess they're not as desperate for cornerback help.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_03]: It's we think there.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it'll be a trade I do.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_03]: They have to be they have to be they have to be eyeballing somebody somewhere.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like if they were you know them might wouldn't spend a couple of corners that get cut when the roasters get cut down and they bring two you know two maybe three guys and just say look
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, bye bye to Cornel Armstrong, bye bye to, you know, whoever.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: You should have a little to Nintendo chef, chef, he'll count me if you know.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, people talking about trading can't speak.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: Who's going to be, I just don't know who's going to be trading for counts me.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_03]: You just got to find somebody that has their own disappointing player.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not just a physical thing with chemistry.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: You can understand people trading for a disappointing player who gives a hundred percent.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: But there's clearly some off-field issues with chemistry.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's a mental issues in terms of not understanding scheme and those sorts of things.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: But there's clearly some kind of attitude stuff.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about his lifestyle staff potentially.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's some just stuff away from the facility that probably isn't great.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the eating?
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the nutrition?
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: Is it a look after himself?
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: Is it what every is?
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's clearly not clicking along with the fact that he's not playing very well.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: And you can say to a GM, look, it gives a hundred and ten percent of the weight really.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's a great film guy.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: That clearly is not the message for chemistry.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's great to say earlier the team we're going to trade chemistry.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: One thing is trying to find a disappointing player or the light comes on because you just one day the Jixel puzzles fall into place when it comes to scheme and all those things.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's another taking a guy who's got a bit of a reputation for being a bit of a rogue and saying, look, give us a disappointing, non-road, a criminal team.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: Those things are harder to parlay, I think, and somebody who worked hard and is always in the gym ran eats and lives right, that's a difficult deal to make.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I guess that the blueprint is the no agbonagity trade and God, we lost that one because we said, look, we'll trade you hour disappointing player for your disappointing player and the cowboys fleece us and then the cowboys got fleece themselves because.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's a starter for the commanders and the guy played in an NFC championship game last year.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_03]: And it looks like he's sticking there because he's starting again this year.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_03]: So your thoughts, especially on Jason Marshall, Chris.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'll start with the game.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the story of the game on defense was was really the debut of Jason Marshall at in the slot.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't played this in college like he had less than three percent of his snaps came in the slot in college.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't even play it last week against Chicago.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't play it and take any snaps from the slot.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're warned else we can correct me from wrong, but we're warned with, you know, beforehand Jason Merit Marshall is going to get some playing time in this game like some heavy playing time.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that was very intentional.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: This was a very intentional experiment with him because he was exclusively slot during the game.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: And what he brought to the table, it just sort of clicked into place.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that he had the perfect game because he by all means he did not.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_02]: There were a couple of snaps even that I highlighted on our only fence discord that are like, you know, hey, he's going to have to clean that up or that was not good.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not that he had a perfect, it was more about who he is as a player and how that interacts with the position that he was asked to play and especially what this defense needs out of that position and what it values out of that position.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, you mentioned Simon earlier, it's funny how this happens because I'm doing all this work on Jason Marshall and stuff like that.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then you post, we start talking about that Ollie Connelly subject.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm reading through it and I'm like, fuck, he just, excuse my language, he just outlined it pretty brilliantly and perfectly what they were counting on from Catercobu from that nickel slot position in this defense of why it's important.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_02]: And that was what Jason Marshall brought to the table in this game.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_02]: It was really, it was really eerie almost.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: He brings a physicality to it.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_02]: He's acting like almost like another linebacker at times.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, he's able to push around tight ends, you know, into the back field.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, he's able to and then, you know, if you look at his coverage, especially in that zone coverage, he has a smoothness to his own coverage that I think some of the other guys do not know that's not saying a lot because the other guys are really awful right now.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I think that overall what they're looking at is they're going to say, oh,
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: We just saw something that is going to check a lot of boxes for us and we're going to continue that experiment.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so actually at this point, you know, knowing how the rest of the position stacks up, particularly, you know, Mike Hilton is going to be thirty two years old.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't play well in the first preseason game.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't really cover well last year.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: At some point, I'm pretty comfortable saying that Jason Marshall's going to start a game or two in the slot for the dolphins.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think that is going to happen this year, just based on what they have at the position and what's going on and what they need out of it and just, you know, the way he fits and checks those boxes.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: It really was a revelation, especially since he hadn't played it before.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_02]: It was truly an experiment.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: And it went well.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_02]: Now that said, you know, the other guys, I thought Ethan Bonner was playing well again, and then pulls up with a hamstring injury and that Simon points out.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's not even just last year.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: He's never stayed healthy.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, at what point do you just have to give up on that?
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: I totally get that.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that's one of the reasons that they're actually going to be desperate a little bit for a new body, for a new trade.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: or somebody that gets cut on, they have to claim off of waivers.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: Kendall Sheffield, I just don't understand the point of him.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_02]: He is a small, fast guy that lacks total physicality, it lacks physicality in all regards and can't, you know, can't support in the run and can't even prevent catches.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he can be in your hip pocket, but you're still gonna catch the ball anyway because it's not physical enough.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think that he shows that whenever, whenever he's out there on the field,
- 48:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think that, you know, Isaiah Johnson was, was and continues to be really interesting, but most interestingly in this game, they put him at safety for a dozen snaps, and you know what, look pretty good.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: Which also kind of brings me to the other part of this, which is that the safeties are not looking so good.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I know that we have makeup fits Patrick now, and he may not be the player that he wants was, but you can count on him.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure who else you can count on at the safety position.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_02]: John Saunders to me lacks all manner of physicality.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't trust him.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's looked lost at times out there.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: Jordan Colbert is, you know, is late to pretty much every and get coverage engagement that I've seen in these these all twenty-two's and both games.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_02]: Patrick MacMores sometimes doesn't know what he's doing out there other times he's getting called for that penalty like on that in this game.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: Um, with the the illegal hands.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: He bumped somebody up like eight yards.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_02]: You got to know that you can't do that.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: But at least he doesn't lack for physicality.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_02]: That man will will run downhill and and really commit.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: Melafon will will as well.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_02]: But he's he's another guy consistently in coverage.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_02]: He is not.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: He is giving up too much too much real estate and too much respect.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_02]: to these receivers, even in the first game, to Durham's smite of all people, like why are you giving him so much respect like he's going to burn you way down the field?
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just not working out very well so far.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's issues in the safety unit, and that's why actually, you know, I see somebody like Isaiah Johnson playing some safety and looking kind of good doing it.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_02]: bringing good corner skills to that position.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: It actually makes me a little bit interested.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_02]: Now, for the rest of the guys, we've talked all about the defense of front.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_02]: We know they're pretty good.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: The edges, I think the underrated guy in the ad unit probably is cam good because you know what he's doing or where he's going to bring it to the table from a run stopping standpoint.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's the best run stopper of the edge players.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_02]: He also plays really well on special teams.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_02]: Had they not signed
- 50:21[SPEAKER_02]: Matthew Jude on.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think that actually they would have had to keep cam good and that could have put actually grace and Murphy in danger because it might have been cam good and Quentin Bell because those are the trustworthy guys.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_02]: But now that they have Matthew Jude on, they actually might have the space for for grace and Murphy.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that's my theory.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sticking to it for now.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then at linebacker, I just think that I think that Eugene is on day initially on initial viewing.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: We're kind of like, oh, he had some big plays.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_02]: It did not survive the alt-one at you.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I don't think he had a good game at all.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_02]: Chan and Tindle, I'm tired of watching him out there.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_02]: He's late and I'll never think he doesn't.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't really make plays except for only one phase when he's asked to blitz every now and then he, you know, run straight forward and do it fast.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's what he can do.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, at that point, there's a lot of guys that can do that.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm just tired of seeing it.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm tired of dealing with it.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that overall, you're going to see a stack up one wild card in the defensive front going back to that.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: At some point, we have to kind of address the question as to why Matthew Butler is basically has a starter's rotation in how high up the depth chart he is in these games, both the Chicago game and the Lions game.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: uh... he is coming out there with starters he is rotating out there as if he is a starter it is really weird because we don't talk about him much
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: Right, we don't talk about Bruno, you know, like I don't understand like the the mismatch between the amount of buzz about Matthew Butler, which is almost zero versus where he is on the rotations and these preseason games is that is that is that is a wide gap.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_02]: And and and we have to at some point we might have to address that or maybe they just cut them and then forget about it.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because they do have those those quote unquote five locks at defensive tackle.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_03]: Last thing before we get out of here.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_03]: Let's give Jordan Phillips his flowers one and a half sacks.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_03]: He was really good in this game.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_03]: So strong.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll speak to somebody who I trust.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_03]: who's pretty smart about these things and he was telling me that that Jordan Phillips is a guy and I think there's something that you said Simon that he would be like that second contract guy.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: He was telling me like Jordan Phillips is a guy that toward the end of his rookie deal is going to be is going to be when he's going to be at his peak physical strength.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_03]: He will grow into his man body because the guy's twenty years old and I was thinking myself man this guy's going to turn to a meta human by then then because
- 52:56[SPEAKER_03]: My God, as he's strong.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's going to supplant Benito Jones by week and nine.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_03]: Am I wrong, Simon?
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: No, I hadn't really highly ranked in the draft book and I wrote to me.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: This is one of the most intriguing players in the entire draft class.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_01]: A registered sophomore just had just one thousand or forty five career snaps.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, sacks.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: That sack he ever gets to chose the first ever sack of his career.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: But he's only going to be twenty when the season starts.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I just thought, even in college, his seeding was high.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: He was on Bruce Feldman's Freaks list as a former high school wrestler, power lifter, incredibly heavy hands.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he had real explosion at the snap, which has shown up in both the games.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's got lateral crickness, he's got rushed moves, he's got a cross chop, he's got a spin, which we haven't seen yet, the long arm.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I just thought, you know, his natural leverage just afforded him in college the ability to win very quickly.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_01]: And he's got that kind of wrestling ability because he's got the hands, but he's got the grip strength, the talk.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: I just thought he was a really, really intriguing player.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I was absolutely thrilled on the dolphins, the dolphins signed him.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I put luck as, you know, you get, you imagine for a twenty year others, there's a lot of growing to do in the race, but I don't think
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: The Austin Clark and Anthony Weaver would think he'd be this far along at this point given his age.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I said at the end of the, his right up that this is a classic Harry Roseman third round pick that becomes a massive free agent signing at, you know, in year four.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think his ceiling is enormous.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: I love just tape so far and he seems like a great kid and he seems to be well liked.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: The interview in the locker room was great with all his teammates, sort of taking the piss out of him.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, good player.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_01]: Good, good, good player.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_02]: His challenge is going to be, and I saw it in the game in the Lions game, especially on the alt-one too, is going to be because he's so young and, you know, experienced.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_02]: staying on the same page with his teammates because this scheme absolutely requires it.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the scheme is very heavy on stunts.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's very heavy on, you know, disguised pressures, simulated pressures, things like that.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_02]: They're doing, they're playing a lot of games.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_02]: And that was where, like, I thought that they were going to miss, that Zack Sealer was going to miss Christian Wilkins a lot because those two had an extraordinary chemistry together.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_02]: But he didn't miss him because in step-to-class Campbell, the consummate veteran, the guy who could go coach immediately, without anything, like tomorrow, he could go coach.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't really miss a beat because of Coleus Campbell's total knowledge of the position, awareness, and the fact that he could teach everybody in their room how to play the position better than the actual defensive line coach.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: And now you have a situation where, okay, Colleis Campbell is now out and how's that going to work with Kenneth Grant?
- 55:54[SPEAKER_02]: And that's already one thing.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_02]: But I saw it in the game.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there are times Matt Dickerson's trying to come over and do the thing that's actually so good and like, you know, kind of move in and free up the Jordan Phillips on the stunt.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_02]: And Jordan Phillips isn't getting it.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_02]: he's like he doesn't know the play or doesn't know the call and he's just like oh wait what's happening here and and I think that that's going to be his his challenge because this defense is so heavy on that so actually I wouldn't be surprised if it seems like we keep thinking Jordan Phillips should be going higher in the pecking order
- 56:36[SPEAKER_02]: And we think that he should be playing more or he should be, you know, doing better.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_02]: But he's actually not.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's just going to take some time for him to learn the ends and out and learn the things, the triggers that will tell, you know, these players what they're going to be executing once the snap starts.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_02]: And because it's not always just a straight up play call from the sideline.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_02]: And that I think it's going to be his challenge.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll just see how it plays out.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, and we're going to call it right here.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_03]: This week they got joint practices.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_03]: Well, joint practice just one on Thursday.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_03]: The only having two practices open to the public on Wednesday and Thursday.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_03]: Thursday is joint practice against the jag wars.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_03]: Bad news.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_03]: It looks like Travis Hunter will not participate.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_03]: So for those of you that wanted to see see him out there and kind of knows our second there doesn't want to see him out there There just had to contend with Brian Thomas instead It looks like he's not gonna be there so but you can't go out there to see the joint practice on Thursday
- 57:39[SPEAKER_03]: game on Saturday and then we're going to be into regular season mode next week.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we're going to do too much on this preseason game as the next time we talk to you will be cut down day, which is that Tuesday following, so which is the twenty six.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_03]: So the next time we talk to you, we will have a fifty three and we will go over.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to Kendall Sheffield against foreign Thomas.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_03]: You're going to watch that on Saturday.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_03]: I see Kendra Shuffield try out there with Brian Thomas Jr.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_03]: on turning off the TV.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, me too.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_03]: So the next time we talk to you, we will have a fifty-three and we will talk about it.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_03]: But tell them.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening to three yards per catty.
