- 0:00Speaker 1: LSU and Auburn. I don't know that we would have
- 0:01Speaker 1: circled this one a few weeks ago, but it certainly
- 0:04Speaker 1: is more intriguing now. Auburn coming off of a big
- 0:06Speaker 1: win in Athens. LSU, after taking down Mississippi State without
- 0:12Speaker 1: their best two players, will look to keep their season alive.
- 0:16Speaker 1: And Auburn only has the two losses, right? Like Auburn...
- 0:20Speaker 1: theoretically is just as alive as anybody else with two
- 0:23Speaker 1: losses in the SEC.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Why not?
- 0:25Speaker 1: I mean, at this point, right? Why not?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Florida's back alive. Auburn's back alive. LSU. Um, I mean,
- 0:32Speaker 1: just an absolute must win for them with Texas, Tennessee,
- 0:37Speaker 1: Alabama still left on the schedule. Um, uh, uh, a
- 0:41Speaker 1: game against A & M. Oh no, they already beat
- 0:43Speaker 1: A & M. I take that back. Uh, but those
- 0:45Speaker 1: three that I mentioned are big. Um, I, I, In
- 0:50Speaker 1: this one, presented by PrizePix real quick, but in this one,
- 0:55Speaker 1: I just kind of feel like Auburn's running into that
- 0:57Speaker 1: same death trap that I talked about with Ole Miss.
- 1:00Speaker 1: You won a big game last week. Can you keep
- 1:02Speaker 1: it going against a very different team in LSU? But
- 1:07Speaker 1: the SEC has told you you're not allowed to do that.
- 1:08Speaker 1: You're not allowed to have back-to-back good weeks. So thoughts
- 1:11Speaker 1: on Auburn here.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean, you could say the same. I mean, LSU,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I know that.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Playing Mississippi state without Camario and Bothwell is not the
- 1:24Speaker 3: marquee kind of experience, but this is a sneaky, like
- 1:30Speaker 3: a low key sneaky rivalry, right?
- 1:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Like I, I think people forget that there was a
- 1:36Speaker 3: period of time in the sec where this game was
- 1:42Speaker 3: kind of deciding the sec West in a lot of years.
- 1:45Speaker 3: And then Nick Saban came around and, Obviously, you know,
- 1:48Speaker 3: kind of changed it.
- 1:49Speaker 2: But, like, whoever lost this game for a long.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Time was sort of the coach on the hot seat
- 1:57Speaker 3: a little bit, right? Whether that was Gus or Les
- 2:00Speaker 3: or whoever, Tubbs. I do think this is a game
- 2:05Speaker 3: where things get weird. Auburn is a place where things
- 2:08Speaker 3: get weird, as we know. Playing this game at 11
- 2:11Speaker 3: o'clock in the morning, a little bit of an advantage
- 2:15Speaker 3: to LSU, in my opinion. I personally got a good
- 2:21Speaker 3: up-close look at this Auburn team last weekend. Look, Georgia,
- 2:28Speaker 3: they kind of controlled that game from a down-to-down standpoint.
- 2:31Speaker 3: They outgained Auburn by 1.8 yards of play. Normally that
- 2:35Speaker 3: equates to a fairly comfortable win in most scenarios, but
- 2:40Speaker 3: Auburn made some spectacular catches.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Georgia turned the ball over, right?
- 2:45Speaker 3: And I do think we've seen The reason I bring
- 2:47Speaker 3: that up is not to turn this into a Georgia show,
- 2:49Speaker 3: but like we've seen Sam Levitt turn the ball over
- 2:53Speaker 3: this year.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And we, we've seen this, you know, like, I don't
- 3:01Speaker 2: know how Auburn scores in this game a little bit.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Like I think LSU's defense is, is the thing I
- 3:07Speaker 3: know about in this game, but I do see a
- 3:11Speaker 3: world after watching Auburn's defense last weekend where I think
- 3:15Speaker 3: Auburn's defense could can handle some of the mobile threat
- 3:18Speaker 3: of Levitt, you know, got some, some good pieces in
- 3:22Speaker 3: the secondary. I think they can keep this game close
- 3:26Speaker 3: and at home, you know, can you get a break?
- 3:28Speaker 3: Can you get plus two in the turnover column and
- 3:31Speaker 3: go to the fourth quarter in a.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Seven point game?
- 3:33Speaker 3: Cause like I do, I do wonder where LSU's headspace is.
- 3:36Speaker 3: If you get them into the fourth quarter in a
- 3:38Speaker 3: one possession game, the two times that's happened to them
- 3:41Speaker 3: this year, they've lost. Yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 1: The, the, I mean, I thought immediately about the Kentucky game,
- 3:47Speaker 1: but then obviously Ole Miss too. Now, certainly a little
- 3:49Speaker 1: bit different there because of what Trinidad does late in games.
- 3:53Speaker 1: But yeah, that Kentucky one, they just kind of looked
- 3:55Speaker 1: a little, a little wide eyed, you know, a little like,
- 4:00Speaker 1: and again, Kentucky's good. I'm certainly not trying to crap
- 4:03Speaker 1: on them. They've had a great story and a great
- 4:04Speaker 1: season so far this year. And Will Stein, I think it's,
- 4:08Speaker 1: Would you call him so far the best hire in
- 4:10Speaker 1: the SEC? I mean, hard to argue with that.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Maybe the best hire in the country, honestly.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Him or Bob Chesney. I will say, shout out to
- 4:19Speaker 1: Jim Knowles, though. If we're talking hires, to go from
- 4:23Speaker 1: worst to first. But head coaches, certainly Stein Chesney, way
- 4:27Speaker 1: out there. But they did. They blinked in that fourth
- 4:33Speaker 1: quarter against Kentucky. I do wonder from the Auburn perspective,
- 4:38Speaker 1: If not for the Georgia mistakes, is LSU going to
- 4:43Speaker 1: give you those same opportunities? And that's, that's the big
- 4:47Speaker 1: question because if they don't lining up, I think I
- 4:51Speaker 1: lean LSU here. So six and a half on the
- 4:54Speaker 1: road in the sec right now, seven and a half
- 4:58Speaker 1: right now. Yeah. It feels like a lot, but can
- 5:02Speaker 1: your offense do enough if they're not getting the, those
- 5:05Speaker 1: extra possessions? Um, and that would be my question for sure.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And let's use defense. Sorry to throw six things at
- 5:11Speaker 1: you at once. And let's use defense also home and away.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Very different animal. Right.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So that's interesting. Yeah. That's a good point.
- 5:18Speaker 1: That's something else I think about. So yeah. Answer those
- 5:20Speaker 1: 18 questions at once.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Well, I do think that Kentucky kind of put a
- 5:26Speaker 3: little bit of a recipe on, on tape for, for
- 5:29Speaker 3: Auburn in terms of this LSU defense.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'll get right back to the clip in just a moment.
- 5:33Speaker 1: But first I want to give you a couple of picks. Now,
- 5:35Speaker 1: if you want to get all the picks, you got
- 5:36Speaker 1: to go watch the live show, the prize picks app,
- 5:39Speaker 1: all new users there play $ 5, get 150 in lineups instantly.
- 5:43Speaker 1: If you use code HMA and win your first $ 5 lineup,
- 5:48Speaker 1: give me the more on Trinidad's passing yards at 243.5,
- 5:50Speaker 1: just one yard away from that 244.5. Give me the
- 5:52Speaker 1: less on Arch Manning. Now I actually like Texas to
- 5:54Speaker 1: win this game. but I'm going to take the reverse
- 6:02Speaker 1: of what many people might think on the passing totals.
- 6:05Speaker 1: We also picked Arches passing touchdowns. We took Kiwan Lacey.
- 6:08Speaker 1: We took Trinidad's passing touchdowns, but I'm not telling you
- 6:11Speaker 1: what those picks are. You got to go watch the
- 6:12Speaker 1: live show to check it out. That's on college football addiction.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We appreciate you for watching. Make sure you're on the
- 6:17Speaker 1: prize picks app. Again, that code is HMA. We'll see
- 6:19Speaker 1: you guys real soon.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Right?
- 6:21Speaker 3: Like, cause I, I think Kenny Menchie has been good.
- 6:25Speaker 3: but it's not like they've been this big explosive passing game.
- 6:29Speaker 3: It's not like they're hitting 70 yard pass plays and,
- 6:32Speaker 3: and really like dynamic in that way. What Auburn does
- 6:37Speaker 3: is very much like they live on crossers and eight
- 6:44Speaker 3: to 12 yard curl routes and like little tight end
- 6:48Speaker 3: leak outs and things. And, I was skeptical of that
- 6:53Speaker 3: as they came into the Georgia game last weekend. But
- 6:56Speaker 3: when you can get that working with as physical as
- 7:01Speaker 3: Byron Brown is, it does have the effect of being
- 7:03Speaker 3: able to pull defenders and linebackers out of the middle
- 7:07Speaker 3: of the field and kind of create that conflict where
- 7:10Speaker 3: Brown can step up. And that guy's very hard to tackle.
- 7:12Speaker 3: He's very hard to sack. I mean, Georgia sacked him.
- 7:16Speaker 3: five times in terms of tackling them behind the line
- 7:19Speaker 3: of scrimmage, there was probably another five times where like,
- 7:21Speaker 3: they should have sacked him or they, they hit him
- 7:24Speaker 3: in some way and forced him out. But like, he
- 7:27Speaker 3: gets back to a one yard loss every time instead
- 7:30Speaker 3: of it being second and 18. So I do think
- 7:33Speaker 3: that Auburn is really hard to throw off schedule. And
- 7:35Speaker 3: I think that they're an offense that's designed to stay
- 7:38Speaker 3: on schedule. I, I look at LSU defensively, um, They've
- 7:45Speaker 3: been really good against the pass, but I don't know
- 7:50Speaker 3: how much of that is a product of who they've faced. Like,
- 7:55Speaker 3: you know, Clemson's not a good passing team. Mississippi State
- 7:58Speaker 3: without Camario, not a good passing team. McNeese and whoever
- 8:01Speaker 3: they've played out of conference, not a good passing team.
- 8:04Speaker 3: And then Kentucky did have success on them through the air, right?
- 8:08Speaker 3: And so– and obviously Trinidad did. I– I don't think
- 8:15Speaker 3: that LSU is going to give up the big bombs
- 8:19Speaker 3: in this game, but I don't think that's how Auburn
- 8:21Speaker 3: wants to play anyways. And I do think that Auburn,
- 8:25Speaker 3: you look at LSU's defense, sixth nationally in pass success
- 8:31Speaker 3: rate allowed, but they're 67th in rush success rate allowed.
- 8:36Speaker 3: And they actually, when you kind of look at them
- 8:40Speaker 3: as a defense statistically, They're very, very great to elite
- 8:46Speaker 3: in a lot of areas, but one of the areas
- 8:47Speaker 3: that they're not.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Is rush explosiveness percentage.
- 8:52Speaker 3: So I do think Auburn really, this game, if they
- 8:57Speaker 3: can keep this game within the range of like, hey,
- 9:02Speaker 3: here we are within four, or here we are within seven,
- 9:04Speaker 3: or here we are within 10, and not turn it
- 9:07Speaker 3: into a spot of here we are down 17, And
- 9:11Speaker 3: now we're going to try and pass and we're going
- 9:13Speaker 3: to try and get tempo. And like, that's not going
- 9:15Speaker 3: to work for them, but if they can lean on
- 9:18Speaker 3: Byron Brown's legs, like, I don't think people are talking
- 9:21Speaker 3: enough about how good he's played.
- 9:26Speaker 2: In like, we all knew what he did at you
- 9:28Speaker 2: USF and all that.
- 9:29Speaker 3: But I think within the framework of this offense, he's
- 9:32Speaker 3: truly had to, you know, carry a load and he's
- 9:37Speaker 3: done it in the sec, right? Like he, he had, uh,
- 9:41Speaker 3: like five plus yards after contact per rush attempt a
- 9:45Speaker 3: couple different times in SEC play this year. He broke
- 9:49Speaker 3: seven different tackles against Vandy. He broke, I think six
- 9:53Speaker 3: tackles against Georgia. Like this, this guy is not just
- 9:57Speaker 3: doing it against bad teams. I mean, like he's, he's
- 10:00Speaker 3: going and breaking tackles against first round Georgia linebackers and
- 10:05Speaker 3: stuff right so I I think he has an element
- 10:08Speaker 3: to him where if Auburn can keep this game in
- 10:11Speaker 3: a range where they can.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Ride his legs and keep those legs as a threat.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Then they have a shot to shorten it they have
- 10:17Speaker 3: a shot to run the ball They have a shot
- 10:19Speaker 3: to do some things off of that, and maybe they
- 10:23Speaker 3: can get lucky.
- 10:26Speaker 1: What is the matchup, and then we'll predict it, what
- 10:29Speaker 1: is the matchup for Auburn that worries you the most?
- 10:33Speaker 1: So what does LSU do that scares you the most
- 10:37Speaker 1: if you're Auburn?
- 10:39Speaker 2: I mean, I think you're probably a little bit.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Concerned if you're Auburn about the the way that LSU
- 10:50Speaker 3: has stayed on schedule offensively, right?
- 10:54Speaker 1: Like, I mean, they've been– Typical Lane and Charlie, yeah.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Right. They've been pretty efficient passing the ball. Maybe– and then, honestly.
- 11:07Speaker 3: There's been all this talk lately around– like I saw
- 11:09Speaker 3: some talk again today at Lane's press conference of someone
- 11:13Speaker 3: asking him about, like, oh, well, why don't you go
- 11:16Speaker 3: for fourth downs as much anymore?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Or– Which, of course, in typical Lane fashion, he'll go
- 11:20Speaker 2: drop nuts on Saturday.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Go for it five times.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Three, fourth, and fourth.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Once in his own territory. And probably get them all.
- 11:31Speaker 2: So I would not like that if I was Auburn.
- 11:36Speaker 3: But I do think that, man, I mean, you look
- 11:40Speaker 3: at LSU situationally, and they've been pretty balanced offensively. Honestly,
- 11:48Speaker 3: they can pass the ball efficiently. They can run the
- 11:51Speaker 3: ball pretty efficiently at times. I don't know that it's
- 11:57Speaker 3: the LSU offense against the Auburn defense that worries you
- 12:01Speaker 3: as much.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I am curious. What I thought when I previewed.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Auburn ahead of the Georgia game was that this is
- 12:12Speaker 3: an Auburn defense that gets a decent amount of stuffed runs.
- 12:16Speaker 3: but as the game goes on, they're pretty thin in
- 12:19Speaker 3: the front seven. They don't have a bunch of bodies
- 12:21Speaker 3: to rotate in. And like, if you can get to
- 12:23Speaker 3: about 35 carries on them, they start to bust some
- 12:26Speaker 3: explosive runs. You saw Tennessee do that against them.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Right. And Georgia got scripted out of that, right?
- 12:34Speaker 3: Like Georgia only gave the ball to their running backs
- 12:35Speaker 3: 19 times last Saturday, which was great for Auburn. So
- 12:40Speaker 3: I I'm interested to see you do lane and Charlie
- 12:43Speaker 3: stay committed to the run. Cause I, I don't want
- 12:46Speaker 3: to sit here and act like I think that LSU
- 12:48Speaker 3: is going to slice and dice them for four quarters
- 12:50Speaker 3: because they're not. But if they can just land enough
- 12:54Speaker 3: body blows and keep possession of the football and run
- 12:56Speaker 3: the ball and get to the fourth quarter and be at,
- 13:00Speaker 3: you know, 30, 32 carries, especially with what Levitt's legs
- 13:05Speaker 3: do in terms of just making you chase him to
- 13:07Speaker 3: the sidelines and the kind of cumulative exhaustive effect of that,
- 13:11Speaker 3: then I like LSU's chances to get to the fourth
- 13:14Speaker 3: quarter and bust the you know, maybe they bust that 30,
- 13:17Speaker 3: 40 yard run after they've struggled at times in the
- 13:20Speaker 3: red zone or something in this game.
- 13:22Speaker 2: And that's kind of what cracks it up.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I would not be surprised with anything in this one. Again,
- 13:30Speaker 1: I shouldn't even have said that. Like I won't be
- 13:32Speaker 1: surprised by anything that happens in college football this weekend
- 13:35Speaker 1: or any weekend for the rest.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Of the year.
- 13:37Speaker 1: But I do think LSU probably comes out and plays
- 13:39Speaker 1: a little hungrier, plays a little bit more desperate. And
- 13:43Speaker 1: I wonder how much that Lane coaching this for the
- 13:48Speaker 1: opportunity to continue to be in playoff discussions. I don't
- 13:51Speaker 1: know that they can make it at 9-3 with all
- 13:54Speaker 1: the other teams that are up here and have better
- 13:57Speaker 1: records than we were expecting at this point. I don't
- 14:00Speaker 1: want to say never, but because if they beat Texas
- 14:02Speaker 1: and Tennessee on the road and Bama, then yeah, they'll
- 14:05Speaker 1: be considered. But I'll take Auburn to cover. Give me
- 14:10Speaker 1: the LSU money line. I like LSU to win. Give
- 14:12Speaker 1: me Auburn to cover in this one.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I'm in the same boat. I think that, especially at
- 14:19Speaker 2: plus seven and.
- 14:20Speaker 1: A half, if it's six and a half, I might
- 14:22Speaker 1: go the other way.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels like a touchdown game in a lot
- 14:26Speaker 2: of ways. I also, I do lean under in this game.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Fifty and a half feels like a lot of points
- 14:32Speaker 3: with this Auburn offense. You know, maybe there's turnovers and
- 14:40Speaker 3: different things that can happen, but Yeah, I do feel
- 14:45Speaker 3: like they're an offense that.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Against this LSU.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Defense is probably going to kick a lot of field
- 14:51Speaker 3: goals and maybe go for a fourth down in the
- 14:53Speaker 3: red zone or somewhere inside the LSU 30 that they
- 14:56Speaker 3: don't get that ends in no points.
- 14:58Speaker 2: And that swings you under, in my opinion.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll make the under an official play, too. So
- 15:05Speaker 1: we were in complete agreement on everything this week.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Definitely fade us if you're watching this, then.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say, we're going to game
- 15:12Speaker 1: day it real quick. Last time we were out here,
- 15:14Speaker 1: we both took the UGA money line on the road
- 15:16Speaker 1: in Tuscaloosa. We hit on that. We both took Oklahoma.
- 15:21Speaker 1: You took them on the money line. I took them
- 15:22Speaker 1: to cover. So you, we both won, but you were
- 15:25Speaker 1: a little bit more accurate there. I think you took Indiana.
- 15:30Speaker 1: You took Nebraska and I took Indiana.
- 15:32Speaker 2: So Nebraska to cover.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Yeah, correct. Correct.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Did they cover? They did.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Yeah. So that was seven and a half. So yeah,
- 15:39Speaker 1: they led the whole. they lost.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I remember they led.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I just, what was it?
- 15:43Speaker 1: I forget the seven and a half. So yeah, we've
- 15:46Speaker 1: been pretty good. Um, Indiana, if you were going to win,
- 15:50Speaker 1: cover the spread, please. Um, so we'll see how this
- 15:54Speaker 1: week goes again.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 1: If you're watching this on replay, fade us for sure.
