- 0:04Speaker 1: It's me and your host Cam Jordan off the edge
- 0:07Speaker 1: the podcast. You know, big cutting my head off of
- 0:12Speaker 1: the frame today. But you don't even hear on the podcast.
- 0:14Speaker 1: But if you tune into the NFL YouTube channel where
- 0:18Speaker 1: you can see the podcast off the edge of me,
- 0:20Speaker 1: your host, you'll notice that.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It's just Shoulders Hi. Now, got to bring it in
- 0:25Speaker 2: tight right here.
- 0:27Speaker 1: But I got a great guest on the show today.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I've got a great interviewee on the show today. I've
- 0:32Speaker 1: got a great legend of the game on today's episode,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I get to bring in a man from the Indianapolis Colts,
- 0:40Speaker 1: played so many years with collected one hundred and twenty
- 0:43Speaker 1: five and a half sacks collectively, seven time Pro Bowler,
- 0:47Speaker 1: three time First Team All Pro, was a Super Bowl champion,
- 0:51Speaker 1: and also a second team on Pro But like, I
- 0:53Speaker 1: don't understand why they don't talk about it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: That's for all pros right there, And.
- 0:57Speaker 1: He just recently became this year three hundred and seventy
- 1:01Speaker 1: second member of the Hall of Fame class of twenty
- 1:04Speaker 1: twenty four, the Dwight Freenie. Hey, I just want to
- 1:15Speaker 1: bring in my big dog, my og legend of the game,
- 1:20Speaker 1: a man who's had over one hundred sacks, let's say
- 1:22Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty five and a half, A man
- 1:24Speaker 1: who's been an All Pro, three time All Pro first
- 1:27Speaker 1: team and then there's a second team in there. So
- 1:28Speaker 1: really it is a four time situation, seven time pro bowler,
- 1:32Speaker 1: a legend and current brand new class Hall of Class
- 1:37Speaker 1: of twenty twenty four Hall of Famer. You know, number
- 1:40Speaker 1: three hundred and seventy two. I said, what accolade don't
- 1:43Speaker 1: you have? It's Dwight Freeeny, the spin mattic. You know,
- 1:48Speaker 1: put him in a spin machine. Growing up, watching Dwight
- 1:51Speaker 1: inspired a generation of guys that wanted to spin just
- 1:56Speaker 1: like Dwight. If you want look, if you want were
- 1:57Speaker 1: a pass rusher and you wanted to spin, you want
- 1:59Speaker 1: to spend like Dwyke Freene.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Appreciate you, Big dun for tapping in with us on
- 2:02Speaker 2: the podcast.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I appreciate you having me off the edge. You know,
- 2:06Speaker 3: I had to be here off the edge.
- 2:08Speaker 4: You can. That's what we do camp.
- 2:09Speaker 1: We off the edge, off the edge. Look, I just
- 2:12Speaker 1: want to start off, like, come on, man, the spin
- 2:15Speaker 1: moves that you put on, it was just it was
- 2:17Speaker 1: it was a clinic you'd be like, oh, man, he
- 2:19Speaker 1: has a hell of a speed of power he's got
- 2:21Speaker 1: you know, he's got a couple moves. But when you
- 2:23Speaker 1: hit that that speed up the field and hit him
- 2:26Speaker 1: with that real the hook of a of elbow passive
- 2:30Speaker 1: lineman like chefs kiss every time you're like, yo, spin move.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Oh you know what I just did. Dwight Freeney. Wide
- 2:35Speaker 1: receivers got Randy Moss. Defensive ends had Dwight free Man.
- 2:40Speaker 3: You know, you know how it is you go out there,
- 2:42Speaker 3: you better have uh, you know, some moves because those
- 2:45Speaker 3: offensive tackles.
- 2:47Speaker 4: They all hold, they're all cheap.
- 2:50Speaker 3: And if you don't have something in in you know
- 2:53Speaker 3: that belt buckle where you said, okay, you're blocking this,
- 2:56Speaker 3: but what about this? Okay you got that one, Well
- 2:58Speaker 3: I got this for you. So that's that's kind of
- 3:01Speaker 3: how my game was. You know, it wasn't it wasn't checkers.
- 3:04Speaker 3: We were playing chess out there, you know, and I
- 3:07Speaker 3: was going I was going to, yeah, you know how
- 3:08Speaker 3: it is. You got to give him the speed and
- 3:10Speaker 3: then gotta get those feet moving. And then when those
- 3:12Speaker 3: speed moving, okay, something else is opening up.
- 3:14Speaker 4: All right. I'll let you think that you're blocking me
- 3:18Speaker 4: until you don't block me. That's that's how it is.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Absolutely the fat boy's feet get the crossing, they start squealing.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, exactly where he is.
- 3:28Speaker 3: He doesn't want to move his lest he doesn't want
- 3:31Speaker 3: to move his steet, all right, So that's what I'm
- 3:33Speaker 3: gonna make you move your feet. You will all You're
- 3:36Speaker 3: going to just be devoured out there.
- 3:38Speaker 4: That's just what it is.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Absolutely b you know, for for for younger players, for
- 3:44Speaker 1: what it is, Uh, how did how did you used
- 3:47Speaker 1: to get ready for a season back when it was
- 3:48Speaker 1: you know, sixteen weeks of football, back when you know,
- 3:51Speaker 1: as the year started compiling and the body started aching
- 3:54Speaker 1: or whatever it is? How did you go through going
- 3:56Speaker 1: through a whole season of football and a legendary way?
- 4:00Speaker 3: I think, I think for me, you know, I just
- 4:04Speaker 3: had to make sure that I handled the things that
- 4:06Speaker 3: I can control.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Okay. So the things you can.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Control is what you put in your body, all right,
- 4:14Speaker 3: what you do with your body after the games, before practice,
- 4:19Speaker 3: So you know, those are the things that I didn't
- 4:21Speaker 3: make sure that, you know what, I'm gonna be as
- 4:24Speaker 3: prepared as I possibly can be for this game with
- 4:27Speaker 3: no excuses because I've done everything I needed to do,
- 4:31Speaker 3: all right.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I'm at the right weight, I've been stretching, I've been
- 4:35Speaker 4: doing whatever it is.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I do hyperbetic chambers, I do acupuncture, I did I
- 4:40Speaker 3: did a whole bunch just to make sure that when
- 4:44Speaker 3: it was Sunday, I'm.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Feeling good or as good as I'm supposed.
- 4:48Speaker 3: To feel based on whatever week before. All right, So
- 4:52Speaker 3: that was my mindset, you know. So it was you know,
- 4:55Speaker 3: when people talk about football, you know, and how much
- 5:00Speaker 3: time is required to be great or to be good
- 5:02Speaker 3: or to be successful, it's it's it's damn near. You know,
- 5:08Speaker 3: you're talking. You know, you're waking up at six forty five,
- 5:13Speaker 3: and when practice is over, I'm not done. I bring
- 5:17Speaker 3: film home, I'm stretching, I'm doing this, I'm doing that.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I'm not done until probably ten thirty, eleven o'clock.
- 5:25Speaker 4: And all I got. All I can do is sleep and.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Wake up and put it on repeat for the next day,
- 5:30Speaker 3: just to get ready for that game.
- 5:32Speaker 4: You know. So if you have you know.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Some type of I don't know, repertoire things that you do,
- 5:38Speaker 3: schedule of what you do. Maybe it's Mondays is going
- 5:42Speaker 3: to be soft tissue. Tuesdays is going to be you know,
- 5:46Speaker 3: acupuncture Wednesdays. You go to practice, you do your thing,
- 5:49Speaker 3: you come back, you do whatever you need to do, stretching, yoga,
- 5:53Speaker 3: whatever it is. You just make sure that you have
- 5:55Speaker 3: your routine and you stick to that routine throughout the
- 5:59Speaker 3: end entire week, and you should be good enough to
- 6:03Speaker 3: go out and get after it.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Man.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Look that prehab is seriously, there's rehab, rehabits before practice.
- 6:10Speaker 1: You know, there's there's meetings practice. Then you try and
- 6:14Speaker 1: hit the touch to the rehab room. Probably you know,
- 6:16Speaker 1: get when those grass and tools get scraped down real quick,
- 6:20Speaker 1: get cup, you know, definitely do the dry needles versus
- 6:24Speaker 1: the acupuncture. And then I mean, I didn't know you
- 6:27Speaker 1: was on the hyperbaric chamber. I ain't find hyperbaric until
- 6:29Speaker 1: like year ten.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Man, like that hyperbaric it's been on. Man, that thing
- 6:35Speaker 3: has been part of my entire career. I lived in it.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Can when I'm talking about when you get off of practice,
- 6:43Speaker 3: all right, if you get home, I would bring my
- 6:45Speaker 3: iPad right and I'll go sit in that chamber. Forty
- 6:50Speaker 3: five minutes in the hyperbaric chamber is equivalent to eight
- 6:53Speaker 3: hours of sleep from a recovery stamp. Okay, so when
- 6:56Speaker 3: you sleep eight hours, your blood and how it circulates
- 7:00Speaker 3: your body through your system, it corrects, it cleans out,
- 7:03Speaker 3: does all that in eight hours. Well, getting in the
- 7:06Speaker 3: hyperbaric chamber within forty five minutes an hour just the
- 7:08Speaker 3: same work that doesn't eight hours.
- 7:10Speaker 4: So I was going to be in that.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Chamber, reading, doing all the things I needed to do,
- 7:15Speaker 3: all my notes whatever. I might fall asleep, I might
- 7:18Speaker 3: wake up, but I'm get in there for about two
- 7:21Speaker 3: hours after practice, be out of there about eight thirty.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Eat, get ready to go to sleep. Done right.
- 7:30Speaker 1: That commitment to the game, there's a reason. There's a
- 7:34Speaker 1: reason why you win seventeen years. That's just that's amazing. Word,
- 7:39Speaker 1: that's legendary itself. Look, I'm a year fourteen. I was like, okay,
- 7:44Speaker 1: we can go. We got a lot to give. Seventeen
- 7:47Speaker 1: that sounds fall share.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Yes, sixteen is what I did. Sixteen.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Now, the truth is I could have played longer, and
- 7:59Speaker 3: why I did it was because a at some point
- 8:05Speaker 3: when you're in year fifteen, or you might be feeling.
- 8:08Speaker 4: This now or whatever, but the game, at least for the.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Young folks young, you know, I mean the younger generation, right,
- 8:16Speaker 3: And it got to a point where I felt I
- 8:19Speaker 3: was really coaching. I was coaching coaches. I was older
- 8:22Speaker 3: than coaches. I was coaching. I was coaching my guys up.
- 8:26Speaker 3: And I felt like, you know what, it's their time now,
- 8:29Speaker 3: it's their time to shine. I can go out there
- 8:33Speaker 3: and do whatever I do. But what am I really
- 8:35Speaker 3: playing for at this point in my career? Based on
- 8:38Speaker 3: the teams I was playing on. It wasn't like we
- 8:40Speaker 3: were competing for the championship or ring. I always want
- 8:43Speaker 3: to play for the ring. But at that point, I
- 8:45Speaker 3: was like, Okay, I'm coaching these guys up. I want
- 8:48Speaker 3: to see them succeed, and uh, it's time for me
- 8:52Speaker 3: just to turn the page and focus on some renalds.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Do you have any advice for them? Last couple of
- 8:57Speaker 1: years of your career, you're just navigating it. I mean
- 9:01Speaker 1: from one being with the coach for so long too,
- 9:04Speaker 1: you know, even the way you left it and went on.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah, So so for me, Kim, it's a little different,
- 9:11Speaker 3: you know. And it's kind of funny because when you
- 9:14Speaker 3: when you get older, they want to protect you. The
- 9:18Speaker 3: coaching staff want to protect you. They want to protect
- 9:21Speaker 3: you know what I'm.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Saying at year seven?
- 9:24Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Like you know, we don't want to get you banged up.
- 9:28Speaker 3: You know, you know you don't need to play every down,
- 9:31Speaker 3: just come in and third down and whatever. I'm and
- 9:35Speaker 3: I'm a guy who you know, I want to play first, second,
- 9:38Speaker 3: and third because, be quite honest with you, you have
- 9:42Speaker 3: to get the feel of the game and you can't
- 9:45Speaker 3: just throw somebody in there on third down only get,
- 9:50Speaker 3: you know, fifteen plays and twenty plays a game and
- 9:54Speaker 3: really get a grasp of what's actually happened because they
- 9:57Speaker 3: game playing the hell out of third down. So you're
- 10:00Speaker 3: not going to really be able to attack the way
- 10:03Speaker 3: that you really prefer to attack. So when you get
- 10:07Speaker 3: in that mode of where those coaches say they want
- 10:09Speaker 3: to protect you and they want to, all of a
- 10:12Speaker 3: sudden you only get in fifteen.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Plays, all of a sudden, your stats are going down.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Your numbers are going down, and all of a sudden
- 10:21Speaker 3: they don't want to pay you as much because look,
- 10:23Speaker 3: do I look at your stats, You're not playing as
- 10:25Speaker 3: much da da, And I'm thinking to myself, that was y'all.
- 10:28Speaker 4: You guys take that decision. For me, it wasn't me.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Look, if you out of my way, I'd be sitting
- 10:34Speaker 3: there playing forty five fifty players every single step. That's
- 10:38Speaker 3: how I love the game, that's how I wanted to play,
- 10:40Speaker 3: but they wanted to protect me. Numbers go down, all
- 10:44Speaker 3: of a sudden, you don't play as much, all of
- 10:46Speaker 3: a sudden, you become more of a coach.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Then it's like, you know what, you guys got it.
- 10:51Speaker 1: You guys got it quick, Like I have so much
- 10:56Speaker 1: more to give and you just want to limit me,
- 10:57Speaker 1: which they try and limit you early, like hey, hey,
- 11:00Speaker 1: we want to rotate, like we don't want to tax
- 11:02Speaker 1: you one because you know, it's discovering their bases. And
- 11:06Speaker 1: then second of all, you know they want to see
- 11:08Speaker 1: what the next waves look like. And if the next
- 11:10Speaker 1: wave can't cut it, then you're right back.
- 11:12Speaker 3: It's like, it's the nature of the beast.
- 11:16Speaker 4: I get it. I mean, you know, it's just what
- 11:18Speaker 4: it is. Everyone.
- 11:20Speaker 3: For the most part, you're gonna hear that, you're gonna
- 11:22Speaker 3: get that call, you're gonna get that message, you're gonna say, hey, Dwight,
- 11:25Speaker 3: we love you, or.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Cam we love you. But you know, you know you're
- 11:30Speaker 4: making the numbers and you know, we'll figure something out,
- 11:33Speaker 4: we'll take care of you.
- 11:34Speaker 3: And that's just how it That's just how it goes
- 11:36Speaker 3: until you're like, you get frustrated or you just can't
- 11:39Speaker 3: do it anymore.
- 11:40Speaker 4: That's just what it is.
- 11:41Speaker 3: So that's that's that's that's yeah, that's how that's how
- 11:45Speaker 3: it happened for me.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Cam. But I will tell you one thing that how
- 11:49Speaker 4: we Long told me.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Okay, I saw how Long in one of the Pro
- 11:53Speaker 3: Bowls who was coming back or whatever, and he said, look,
- 11:57Speaker 3: play the game as long as you can play it,
- 11:59Speaker 3: because when you're done, it's over forever. And yeah, that
- 12:05Speaker 3: that really hit home for me because I wanted to
- 12:08Speaker 3: make sure.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Look, this game has given me a.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Lot, and I love it. I'm infactuated by it. It
- 12:16Speaker 3: just is just everything about it. But when it's done,
- 12:22Speaker 3: you ain't coming back. This ain't like you know, this
- 12:24Speaker 3: ain't like Michael Jordan come back off the you know,
- 12:27Speaker 3: retired for a few years.
- 12:28Speaker 4: We football players, we gotta stay on the ground.
- 12:31Speaker 3: We can't as soon as we feel with that other
- 12:33Speaker 3: life is about, we ain't coming back coming back. So
- 12:38Speaker 3: so for me, that's just what it was. I was like, all,
- 12:40Speaker 3: I'm gonna play sixteen and be done.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Hey, that's real deal, holy Field, Bro. It was a
- 12:44Speaker 1: two off season goes now, Bro. I took the fam
- 12:47Speaker 1: on something like, Hey, I'm a dad, you know, I'm
- 12:49Speaker 1: uh you know, the family goes travels, but I want
- 12:52Speaker 1: to show the kids something. We want to go live
- 12:54Speaker 1: in Spain for three months right the off season. I
- 12:57Speaker 1: was like, No, We're living out in Spain. It's gonna
- 12:59Speaker 1: be great. I was like, you know, we're gonna I'm
- 13:01Speaker 1: gonna make the kids cultured. We're gonna make them learn
- 13:03Speaker 1: to speak Spanish. That was my idea, was to make
- 13:06Speaker 1: the fans speak Spanish for me too, for them. You know,
- 13:08Speaker 1: I'm yo, say Cameron, you know, like la, you know
- 13:12Speaker 1: whatever it is we're going. The kids are like for
- 13:15Speaker 1: the first three weeks, the kids are just like, why
- 13:17Speaker 1: are they speaking Why are they speaking Spanish? Why are
- 13:19Speaker 1: they talking to me? Weird? No, maybe you're the weird one.
- 13:22Speaker 1: You're in their country. I'm forcuning you guys to do this.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Wife he homeschooling them, but we still got like a
- 13:29Speaker 1: babysitter type coming through every day teaching us Spanish. Excellent.
- 13:33Speaker 1: You know. And then somewhere in there, bro like three
- 13:36Speaker 1: months in, I look around. I'm like, yo, I got
- 13:39Speaker 1: really comfortable, I said. I was like, yo, we gotta
- 13:41Speaker 1: go now. I was already like a week or two
- 13:43Speaker 1: late OTAs and I was gonna stay there till camp.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I was like, I woke up one morning, yell, we
- 13:48Speaker 1: got about a week left. Now, Hey, I was like,
- 13:50Speaker 1: pack up, we gotta we gotta go. What do you
- 13:52Speaker 1: mean we gotta go. I gotta get back to hitting somebody.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I gotta get back to the grind. There's rigorous training
- 13:57Speaker 1: that is football.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Yeah, you take off the yo, you chick off that
- 14:01Speaker 3: yoke and you don't want to put that yo bag on.
- 14:05Speaker 4: And that's just how it is. It's like cattle, you
- 14:06Speaker 4: take that, you leave. That's why they leave them on.
- 14:08Speaker 4: They sleep with.
- 14:09Speaker 3: The yoke on, because if that cattle feels like, hey,
- 14:12Speaker 3: I can take this yoke off, that bulls to hey
- 14:14Speaker 3: I can take this off. And they feel what it
- 14:16Speaker 3: feels like not to have that thing on their shoulders.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Oh God, they're not gonna go back to work. They're
- 14:21Speaker 3: not gonna be they gonna nah, I me ain't doing this.
- 14:24Speaker 3: So I feel you. You you you get get back there,
- 14:28Speaker 3: what you know, dog, because if you get too comfortable
- 14:31Speaker 3: and it's starting to feel good, you got your feet
- 14:33Speaker 3: up and you're eating a little bit of this, you're
- 14:35Speaker 3: drinking a little bit of that, and you're like, you
- 14:40Speaker 3: have twenty pounds over, You're twenty poles over, and you're like,
- 14:44Speaker 3: oh god, this is this is gonna be a climb.
- 14:46Speaker 4: How am I gonna get this weight off?
- 14:48Speaker 1: Just walking walking around town? Every day with the film,
- 14:51Speaker 1: the kids are happy, they get Dad every day. Dad,
- 14:54Speaker 1: you should never leave.
- 14:55Speaker 2: You're like, damn, yeah, maybe I should never leave.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Wait a minute, we gotta go. We'll be right back.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Let's let's talk about you know, you being the the
- 15:07Speaker 1: inductee number three three, three hundred seventy two. That's that's
- 15:12Speaker 1: all there really is. There's all like out of the
- 15:14Speaker 1: entire hundred, you know, in the year's worth of the NFL,
- 15:17Speaker 1: there's less than four hundred Hall of famers in the books,
- 15:20Speaker 1: and you made three seventy two. Not only does it
- 15:23Speaker 1: talk to to your career at all, but like it
- 15:26Speaker 1: talks to who you've put on.
- 15:28Speaker 2: For so many years. But how does it feel about
- 15:30Speaker 2: getting that ring?
- 15:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's you know, look, I know I had
- 15:35Speaker 3: a good career, a great career, and no matter how
- 15:40Speaker 3: you try to prepare yourself mentally for this moment, it
- 15:43Speaker 3: can never add up to what you actually feel when
- 15:45Speaker 3: it happens. And you know, they put us, they gave
- 15:50Speaker 3: me a statistic, right, they said, three hundred and fifty
- 15:54Speaker 3: million people have played the game of football in some
- 15:57Speaker 3: level okay, high school and make it to college or
- 16:01Speaker 3: the college or pros or whatever it is, and only
- 16:05Speaker 3: three hundred and seventy eight on a pro football So
- 16:11Speaker 3: that's a point zero zero zero zero one, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 3: percentage of that happening. And when you put that in perspective,
- 16:21Speaker 3: it really hits home. And when you get to that level,
- 16:27Speaker 3: how the Hall of Famers embrace you, It's really like
- 16:31Speaker 3: a fraternity. It's really like their family. And that's kind
- 16:36Speaker 3: of you know, will put chills down my spine.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Is when you see guys like me.
- 16:42Speaker 5: And Joe Green, Charles Haley going sap, those guys that
- 16:48Speaker 5: you watch growing up, Michael Strahan, Lawrence Taylor, all those
- 16:53Speaker 5: guys embracing you, coming to you like you did something.
- 16:59Speaker 4: I'm like, do nothing, y'all do something. I'm watching you
- 17:02Speaker 4: I grew up. I wouldn't be playing football if it
- 17:05Speaker 4: wasn't Frank guys, you know, And and so.
- 17:08Speaker 3: That that feeling cam is everything, it truly is. And
- 17:15Speaker 3: not only is it just for me, you know, the
- 17:18Speaker 3: feeling of how it feels for me, it's also for
- 17:22Speaker 3: all those who helped me along the way, all those
- 17:26Speaker 3: little people, situations, coaches, you know, they all helped me
- 17:32Speaker 3: get to where I got. So it's a celebration for
- 17:36Speaker 3: the entire camp. Everyone feels like they made it. And
- 17:40Speaker 3: that's how you know that for me, that that really
- 17:44Speaker 3: brought it home for me, you know, from a kid
- 17:47Speaker 3: from Bloomfield, Connecticut. We ain't gotten many from Boomfield, We've
- 17:50Speaker 3: got none. Now you got the whole Boomfield Greater Harford
- 17:55Speaker 3: area being like we got one.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Now got on you got one. Man. So yeah, it's
- 18:02Speaker 4: you know, I know, I don't know whoom Yeah, but yeah,
- 18:06Speaker 4: that's what I said. It is right there.
- 18:07Speaker 3: We we neighbors, were neighbors right there, and it's like, Yo,
- 18:12Speaker 3: it's you know, hopefully God willing you get that opportunity
- 18:16Speaker 3: to do that, and being there, your work has been amazing,
- 18:20Speaker 3: you know. It's just one of those things where you
- 18:24Speaker 3: just never know. You know, I don't care, you know,
- 18:27Speaker 3: you never you really never know. And now I got
- 18:30Speaker 3: a place where my bust will be there.
- 18:34Speaker 4: And I can never be traded.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I can never be cut off this team. I can
- 18:37Speaker 3: never be released. I can't even get off the team
- 18:41Speaker 3: if I try, if I wanted to. I'm on it,
- 18:43Speaker 3: even when I'm dead. I'm on this damn team. So kids, kids, kids,
- 18:49Speaker 3: kids can find the great great granddad. And I'm being
- 18:54Speaker 3: up and there absolutely all.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I got to do is go to campon if you
- 18:59Speaker 1: want to see me, baby, I mean, all right, is
- 19:02Speaker 1: there a different is there a different feeling from when
- 19:04Speaker 1: you got your Hall of Fame jacket to when they
- 19:07Speaker 1: gave you your ring?
- 19:09Speaker 3: Well yeah they the jackets, it the jackets, it for real,
- 19:13Speaker 3: it's it's you you. I'm not saying you're going through
- 19:17Speaker 3: the motions. You don't really feel it until you get
- 19:20Speaker 3: the jacket. When you say that jacket is yours, you
- 19:24Speaker 3: put that jacket on.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Now, yeah, now you feel like, yeah I made it.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Yeah you are.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, that's.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Just what it is. And you know, you talk to
- 19:36Speaker 4: any Hall of Famer, they all said the same thing.
- 19:39Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:39Speaker 1: So when We're gonna get you to start coming to
- 19:41Speaker 1: one of these one hundred SAC Club meetings. You know
- 19:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like I'm just saying. I went to
- 19:45Speaker 1: the first one a couple of years ago in LA,
- 19:47Speaker 1: the one in.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Super Bowling a super Bowl.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Bruce.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, with Bruce. That's what I'm saying.
- 19:52Speaker 4: There was, Yeah, I was gonna come.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I was gonna come in LA, and then all of
- 19:57Speaker 3: a sudden I forgot what happened and something something happened
- 19:59Speaker 3: that year. I told Bruce I was gonna come. They
- 20:02Speaker 3: actually have one at the Hall of Fame. They had one,
- 20:06Speaker 3: but they had me running around doing all stuff because
- 20:08Speaker 3: I was getting inducted. So I told Bruce is my boy.
- 20:12Speaker 3: I told Bruce, you know what, one hundred percent in
- 20:14Speaker 3: the next situation, you've got Super Bowl. Whatever I'm doing,
- 20:18Speaker 3: it's no problem. This is, like I said, this is
- 20:20Speaker 3: a fraternity dog. This is we all in it together.
- 20:23Speaker 2: We all speaking of fraternity.
- 20:25Speaker 1: You are you looking forward to your other, your young
- 20:28Speaker 1: buck or you know who was a young buck. Robert
- 20:31Speaker 1: Mathis who played with the defensive vand opposite of you
- 20:34Speaker 1: getting in. His chance has got to be great. We
- 20:37Speaker 1: might get in this year, next year that is coming.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Well look, look I would say this, and this is
- 20:42Speaker 3: something that you can actually because you are playing today
- 20:47Speaker 3: and you have this podcast, and you can kind of
- 20:50Speaker 3: you bring a light to this.
- 20:52Speaker 4: What people don't talk about enough is cause fumbles.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Right, A cause fumble is equivalent or maybe even greater
- 21:02Speaker 3: than the interception because of where you where it usually happens,
- 21:07Speaker 3: and what usually happens for us is in the backfield,
- 21:10Speaker 3: which means that the offense has better opportunity to score touchdown.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Sometimes you get a scoop and score. All right, that
- 21:16Speaker 3: is a huge stat Robert Mathis has the most cost
- 21:21Speaker 3: fumbles in league history. Okay, imagine someone with the most
- 21:25Speaker 3: interceptions not being in the Hall of Fame.
- 21:28Speaker 4: You can't. So that's how I look at it when
- 21:31Speaker 4: we talk about Robert. Robert was a turnover machine.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Yeahs the most cost fumbles in the history of the
- 21:40Speaker 3: National Football League.
- 21:42Speaker 4: And he should be.
- 21:43Speaker 1: In simple as simple as that. I'm in no disagreeance there.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Would you would you label him between you and him?
- 21:49Speaker 1: You guys are like the hybrid defensive end outside linebackers,
- 21:53Speaker 1: you know, like on your ring, I saw that it
- 21:55Speaker 1: said defensive end outside linebacker, And on my pod I've
- 21:58Speaker 1: addressed this many of times. There's quite a distinction between
- 22:02Speaker 1: defensive end and outside linebacker. Outside linebacker is drying like
- 22:05Speaker 1: a rushing backer, and a defensive end has handled the dirt,
- 22:08Speaker 1: getting all that work from a four eye to a
- 22:10Speaker 1: nine man.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Let me tell you it's it's people don't understand it
- 22:15Speaker 3: and they try to put it all in the same Oh,
- 22:17Speaker 3: he's just.
- 22:17Speaker 4: A guy who's rushing. No no, no, no, no, no, no no.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Defensive end, dude, you you like you said, you got
- 22:28Speaker 3: to line up different places.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Okay, four, five, five.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Seven, nine, and god yeah. And if you play it
- 22:37Speaker 3: outside backer, chances are you're getting more of those favorable matchups.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Okay, you're getting facing tight.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Ends because it blits of other places you might get
- 22:45Speaker 3: it back or whatever it is. I'm not taking anything
- 22:49Speaker 3: away from outside linebackers, but it's a little bit different.
- 22:53Speaker 3: When you play a defensive end. Usually you're blind up
- 22:56Speaker 3: versus that offensive tackle, who is a person who pracked.
- 23:00Speaker 4: This is past.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Blocking on a day to day basis, and sometimes they
- 23:03Speaker 3: bring a chip and sometimes they bring a tight end outside.
- 23:06Speaker 4: So it's a different world, all right.
- 23:08Speaker 3: And I was actually surprised that I saw outside linebacker
- 23:11Speaker 3: on the ring. Like, I don't even want to be
- 23:13Speaker 3: known as all outside linebacker. I'm like, look them outside
- 23:16Speaker 3: linebacker years. I don't even want to remember. I want
- 23:19Speaker 3: to race those years because I shouldn't have been playing
- 23:21Speaker 3: outside line to begin with.
- 23:24Speaker 4: But right, that is what it is.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Look, I try to tell people like, yo, outside linebackers,
- 23:29Speaker 1: dope is a great position, but it's not a defensive end.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I say, it's that's like saying mustard, and you know
- 23:35Speaker 1: the gray pupon is the same. You know, you got
- 23:38Speaker 1: the yellow mustard and gray pupon. There are mustards, but
- 23:41Speaker 1: there is a difference.
- 23:43Speaker 3: There is a difference. The difference, all right, different, definitely
- 23:47Speaker 3: is a difference.
- 23:48Speaker 1: We'll be right back. When did it When did it
- 23:53Speaker 1: sink in that you were a Hall of Famer? I mean,
- 23:55Speaker 1: you knew once you were tired you were going to
- 23:57Speaker 1: be a Hall of Famer, But when when did it
- 23:59Speaker 1: sink in?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Free? I'm being honest.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I look, there are great players I believe that still
- 24:08Speaker 3: are not in the Hall of Fame, okay, and and
- 24:11Speaker 3: you would think at some point they would get in,
- 24:16Speaker 3: but you.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Never know, you never know. I know I left my
- 24:19Speaker 4: mark in again. I knew that.
- 24:21Speaker 3: I felt like, at some point I'm gonna make it. Okay,
- 24:27Speaker 3: when that point, when that happens, I don't know, so
- 24:30Speaker 3: I couldn't. You can't really call yourself a Hall of
- 24:32Speaker 3: Famer until you all you know, it's just talk, it's
- 24:35Speaker 3: just it. Literally, you know, towards end. I know you're
- 24:38Speaker 3: getting it right now. It's that towards the end of
- 24:40Speaker 3: your career, you know, future Hall of Famer, and you
- 24:43Speaker 3: hear right and you're like, yeah, I'll be great, But
- 24:47Speaker 3: it ain't the same until you actually make it.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Do matter? It don't.
- 24:52Speaker 3: It don't even matter until you do, until you get there,
- 24:55Speaker 3: because you could be future Hall of Fame and for years,
- 24:58Speaker 3: you could be forty fifty years oh and you still
- 25:01Speaker 3: hadn't got it.
- 25:02Speaker 4: You could be sixty. It don't matter.
- 25:04Speaker 3: That's just how the game is, and it doesn't and
- 25:07Speaker 3: you just have to just take it like that and
- 25:09Speaker 3: just say, look, hopefully one day I make it, and
- 25:14Speaker 3: it's not up to me, it's up to those who vote.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Hopefully they see my work, and that's.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It, right man.
- 25:21Speaker 4: True.
- 25:22Speaker 1: True, It's like it's like you know, they try and
- 25:24Speaker 1: tell you, oh, you're gonna buy a house one day.
- 25:26Speaker 4: By until you.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Actually get the keys and stuff through that threshold, one
- 25:31Speaker 1: day is too far away.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Picture what the house looks.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Like, the potential one day, man, you could be waging
- 25:36Speaker 3: five for really, well, you.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Ain't got to wait forever. You you there? You you
- 25:43Speaker 1: him with the gold jacket. And they say hall of Fame?
- 25:46Speaker 1: What do they call first? They say Hall of Fame?
- 25:48Speaker 1: D like Foreni.
- 25:49Speaker 2: They say super Bowl Champdike Freendie like which I'm just curious.
- 25:53Speaker 4: It depends on where you were, you know what I mean.
- 25:56Speaker 3: They're both great, great feelings and great things, you know,
- 25:59Speaker 3: so I don't care what you say as long as
- 26:00Speaker 3: you say one of them.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Halleujah.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I'm still I'm still hunting for my super But you know,
- 26:07Speaker 1: as OG had a game, when you turn on the game,
- 26:09Speaker 1: who are the ends? Who are the rushers that you
- 26:11Speaker 1: like to watch?
- 26:13Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 26:14Speaker 3: I mean, look, I think there's so many game guys,
- 26:19Speaker 3: you know, Like I said, this is like a fraternity
- 26:21Speaker 3: out here, man, and this is like a big family.
- 26:23Speaker 3: And I've watched you throughout my career and I love
- 26:26Speaker 3: how you do you do things I couldn't do. You know,
- 26:29Speaker 3: you have size, you make guys move. You know, you
- 26:31Speaker 3: got things where you see like Miles Garrett. Miles Garrett
- 26:34Speaker 3: is a guy that you know he shouldn't be able
- 26:37Speaker 3: to move. How he moved his side freaking.
- 26:40Speaker 4: Just yeah, yeah, that's that's that's with him. It's a
- 26:44Speaker 4: little freaky.
- 26:44Speaker 3: It's like you you bending, man, you bending like you mean,
- 26:48Speaker 3: but you still moving. Guys like you, you know what
- 26:50Speaker 3: I mean, Like you're doing too much right now.
- 26:52Speaker 4: You just you just you just dominated, you just dominate.
- 26:55Speaker 3: You over here, jumping over linemen, blocking field goals. You
- 26:59Speaker 3: just up an athlete, man.
- 27:02Speaker 4: You see that.
- 27:02Speaker 3: You see guys like you know Michael Michael Parsons. I
- 27:05Speaker 3: always love his energy and how he works. Okay, he
- 27:08Speaker 3: may not use all of the moves that he probably
- 27:12Speaker 3: I think that's going to hopefully one day, you know,
- 27:15Speaker 3: he's going to get better at he's still growing. But
- 27:21Speaker 3: from a motor standpoint and just afford standpoint, I love
- 27:24Speaker 3: what he does and how he just gives it at
- 27:27Speaker 3: all when he's out there.
- 27:29Speaker 4: You know you got t J.
- 27:30Speaker 3: T J is another guy incorporating that spend more and more.
- 27:34Speaker 3: I love to see it. You know, before me, no
- 27:37Speaker 3: one was spinning it. You know, they would talk teach,
- 27:40Speaker 3: never turn your back to the quarterback. Now I'm seeing
- 27:42Speaker 3: guys spin left and right. TJ got that thing down
- 27:45Speaker 3: and he is doing his thing.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Like you pass the to Dware and then Dware. You know.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy, isn't it crazy? Because I sit there
- 27:58Speaker 3: and I remember working out in the gym in LA
- 28:03Speaker 3: and Von Miller comes up to me and he says, hey, man,
- 28:07Speaker 3: talk to me about to spend. I'm like, I got you,
- 28:10Speaker 3: you know, And I helped him. I showed him a
- 28:12Speaker 3: little something what I was doing. Then wherever he went
- 28:15Speaker 3: and he taught some other young guys. And that's just
- 28:18Speaker 3: how the game goes. This's just how it is. Richard Den,
- 28:22Speaker 3: you know, a good friend of mine trying to teach
- 28:24Speaker 3: me some stuff. And I said, okay, that's how you
- 28:26Speaker 3: do it. Rich Okay, let me see if I can,
- 28:28Speaker 3: you know, And that's just how it is. You just
- 28:30Speaker 3: you just have to give get back to the game.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I want the guys who are playing their journey to
- 28:37Speaker 3: be easier than my This knowledge and all this information
- 28:41Speaker 3: and things that I, you know, came across.
- 28:44Speaker 4: You know, I can't do nothing with it now.
- 28:47Speaker 3: So I'm really look go ahead, you need it, I
- 28:49Speaker 3: got you do your thing right.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Take all of it from me, because I'm gonna try
- 28:54Speaker 1: and give everything I got and take whatever information I
- 28:57Speaker 1: can get and my own.
- 28:59Speaker 4: As long as we in a quarterback, I don't care
- 29:03Speaker 4: hit the quarterback. Want people to hit the quarterback.
- 29:05Speaker 3: The better they got everything in their advantage everything.
- 29:10Speaker 4: It's really good people.
- 29:11Speaker 1: They like the franchise is gonna go out their way
- 29:13Speaker 1: to give them top dollar and may not whatever it is,
- 29:17Speaker 1: you know they like they've got. I try and tell
- 29:20Speaker 1: people quarterbacks are really good people. They live really good lives.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Their body only aches on Sundays. Can't feel bad for
- 29:26Speaker 1: them when I hit them.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Listen, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something.
- 29:32Speaker 3: There is no other physician that rely on so many
- 29:36Speaker 3: other factors to succeed.
- 29:38Speaker 4: In the quarterback position.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Okay, now that doesn't mean that they're you know, they're
- 29:44Speaker 3: not an important because when you have the other pieces
- 29:46Speaker 3: and you have a great quarterback, just like anything else,
- 29:50Speaker 3: you're going to succeed, and you have because they have
- 29:52Speaker 3: the ball in their hands. But right what it is
- 29:56Speaker 3: is it's usually somewhere in between. They're never as good
- 29:59Speaker 3: as you know when when at the end of the
- 30:02Speaker 3: game it's always you know, it's the quarterback's fault.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Quarterback's fault.
- 30:06Speaker 3: It's usually somewhere in between where it's probably not his fault,
- 30:11Speaker 3: right as much as you want to say his fault.
- 30:13Speaker 3: And when he wins, when you guys win, it's probably
- 30:16Speaker 3: not the reason why you won just because of him.
- 30:20Speaker 3: So it's usually somewhere in between is where he is.
- 30:24Speaker 3: But for us, we're blue collar. There ain't no how
- 30:27Speaker 3: in it, there ain't nothing, no you got to bring it.
- 30:32Speaker 3: We getting hit every play, We hit every single play,
- 30:36Speaker 3: and and and that's just how it is. You know,
- 30:39Speaker 3: That's why I love opposition. And the thing is, for
- 30:41Speaker 3: one thing I'm gonna say about this, You guys on offense,
- 30:47Speaker 3: you can elaborate, get that great game plan and put
- 30:51Speaker 3: that suite he asked playing on that that you know,
- 30:54Speaker 3: we're gonna do this and we're gonna motion that guy.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Then we're gonna we're gonna fake this thing and we'll
- 30:59Speaker 4: do that.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Okay, well, are you accounting for that dog that beast
- 31:04Speaker 3: coming off that defensive line, but to tear that game
- 31:06Speaker 3: plan up because that seems like he's blocking them. But nah,
- 31:12Speaker 3: that's Cam Jordan. You can't just block him one on one.
- 31:16Speaker 3: So that player ain't gonna work. Is he going to
- 31:19Speaker 3: wreck the game? And that's what I love about opposition
- 31:22Speaker 3: is because it don't matter. We can wreck it and
- 31:26Speaker 3: it's all in our hands for the most part.
- 31:29Speaker 1: What was were you like the first Jordan athlete is that,
- 31:33Speaker 1: like you know, is that Jason Taylor?
- 31:35Speaker 4: You maybe one.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Sap Jason Taylor, Marvin Harrison. There was other athletes before
- 31:47Speaker 3: me for sure. Now I don't know from a marketing
- 31:52Speaker 3: standpoint of how they did it on their side, but
- 31:55Speaker 3: I do remember them being Jordan athletes.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, look that you were in the first guys,
- 32:00Speaker 1: Like I say, right around then, I was like, man,
- 32:03Speaker 1: you can wear George like they're clean. Lee was reblocking.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Everybody had them right, some guys like used to probably
- 32:15Speaker 1: start off the career. Was that like the end of
- 32:16Speaker 1: the Astro Turf era, like you know that was that
- 32:19Speaker 1: was like guys were rocking cleats, shoes ish like they
- 32:23Speaker 1: have maybe like the little studs at the bottom.
- 32:25Speaker 4: You know what. Ye actually right?
- 32:27Speaker 3: The actually right that was that was that was at
- 32:31Speaker 3: the end of Astro Turf because we had turf and
- 32:35Speaker 3: then in two thousand and seven when we moved to
- 32:43Speaker 3: the still turf, the one with the blood yeah with
- 32:46Speaker 3: rubber ye yeah, yeah, yes, exactly exactly. But you know
- 32:52Speaker 3: what's funny is Marvin Marvin Harrison was you know, they
- 32:56Speaker 3: had them as a brand Jordan athlete when they were
- 32:58Speaker 3: on turf all right now.
- 33:00Speaker 4: They didn't want they didn't want to brand Jordan. Guys
- 33:04Speaker 4: are the same thing. So that was my that was
- 33:07Speaker 4: my issue at the time.
- 33:09Speaker 3: They told me one guy, So I kind of, you know,
- 33:14Speaker 3: say that, Yeah, I gotta make an ex make an exception,
- 33:18Speaker 3: and look, I need those and they made it.
- 33:24Speaker 1: M hmm. What's your favorite pair of Jordan's mhm.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Oh, my goodness. I would say I love threes. I
- 33:35Speaker 4: really love threes.
- 33:38Speaker 3: I love elevens and ones. So it's either one, three
- 33:43Speaker 3: or eleven. That's that's where I'm at all day. And
- 33:45Speaker 3: they made a big push for ones right now the
- 33:48Speaker 3: last five or six years.
- 33:50Speaker 4: They come in with some great colorways, super strong with
- 33:53Speaker 4: the ones.
- 33:54Speaker 1: So yeah, I become a one lover. Prior to that,
- 33:59Speaker 1: I was a two. I was eight and twelves because
- 34:03Speaker 1: the eights you can play basketball and for real, for real, like,
- 34:05Speaker 1: you know, off season. I'm not trying to sprain ankle.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I played basketball for fun. So eight's got the double
- 34:10Speaker 1: trap on there.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Yeah you're dead, Yeah yeah, yeah, uh but.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Dang, that's that's fire. The twelves, of course, speak for themselves.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I don't have a narrow foot, so the elevens never
- 34:20Speaker 1: felt great like I could walk in them. But them twelves, yeah,
- 34:23Speaker 1: for wider footed people.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Well see, yeah, I love I loven eleven's. I wasn't
- 34:28Speaker 3: playing basketball anyway, so I didn't care.
- 34:31Speaker 4: I was.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I was literally just walking back and forth from wherever
- 34:34Speaker 3: I was walking.
- 34:34Speaker 4: That's it, that's it.
- 34:36Speaker 1: He was out there with the limp pepper steps. Oh
- 34:38Speaker 1: you got the eleven though, Yeah, yeah, boy, I can
- 34:42Speaker 1: dress those up. I can walk them down. It is
- 34:43Speaker 1: what it is. You know, we talked about golf earlier,
- 34:48Speaker 1: early to the pot or whatever, but I know you
- 34:50Speaker 1: got you play golf with my MJ's from time to time. Yeah,
- 34:53Speaker 1: and we both know how competitive he is. We know
- 34:57Speaker 1: you're competitive.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Yeah you know.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Uh, have y'all.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Ever got into it on a golf course? You with
- 35:02Speaker 1: Michael Jordan or what's the best trash talk that you've
- 35:05Speaker 1: ever given? You give him the change trash talk from
- 35:08Speaker 1: on the field days when you was gonna flare.
- 35:10Speaker 4: It up or it.
- 35:11Speaker 3: But well, you know what it's funny is he's actually
- 35:14Speaker 3: my partner. So we usually team up, all right, and
- 35:18Speaker 3: we go against whoever we're going against. And that's usually
- 35:22Speaker 3: how it goes down, all right, once and then once
- 35:25Speaker 3: in a while we play each other if we don't
- 35:27Speaker 3: got no one else to play. And that's just how
- 35:29Speaker 3: this is how we roll. But I'll say this when
- 35:32Speaker 3: you when you see him golfing, Yeah, he got that
- 35:37Speaker 3: same look he had when he was ball in his
- 35:41Speaker 3: hand versus Utah or versus Cleveland or whatever the game
- 35:45Speaker 3: on the line, he makes the crazy crossover fade away dude,
- 35:50Speaker 3: seventh whole seventeen eighteen, he gotta make a play, got
- 35:55Speaker 3: that same look and he and he makes.
- 35:57Speaker 4: The player and he and he comes through. Is not
- 36:00Speaker 4: is nuts man? It is nuts man.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Does how does that even happen? You know? Like how
- 36:05Speaker 1: did you and him even become cool like that?
- 36:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it's funny.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Like, you know, I grew up like most kids probably
- 36:14Speaker 3: you know, in the nineties or whatever eighties you grew
- 36:17Speaker 3: up with Michael Jordan Fan and I was lucky enough.
- 36:21Speaker 3: I just got I was in the right place at
- 36:23Speaker 3: the right time. Ended up being drafted, obviously with the
- 36:26Speaker 3: Indianapolis Coats. One of his best friends lived in Indianapolis, Okay,
- 36:31Speaker 3: So I got invited to his golf invitation in Bahamas.
- 36:35Speaker 3: That was in two thousand and three or four. All right,
- 36:39Speaker 3: So the game of golf granted me that opportunity to
- 36:42Speaker 3: meet to go. So I went out there, hacked it up,
- 36:47Speaker 3: sliced the ball, couldn't hit the damn ball worth nothing.
- 36:51Speaker 4: But I ended up meeting his best friend.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Because he came up to me, say, hey, man, big fan,
- 36:57Speaker 3: I lived in Indianapolis. So what would happen is in
- 37:01Speaker 3: the off season they would take the young boy, which
- 37:03Speaker 3: was me, and I'll be the tagalong. I'll be like,
- 37:07Speaker 3: you know, hey, call the young boy free. Come on,
- 37:09Speaker 3: let's tell me we're gonna go here, we go to Vegas.
- 37:11Speaker 3: We're gonna go where we're gonna go. So I ended
- 37:14Speaker 3: up being real cool with his best friend. End up
- 37:16Speaker 3: being real cool with m J. And that's just how
- 37:19Speaker 3: it rose. And now shoot, I'm with him four times
- 37:22Speaker 3: a week. Problem man, golf, golf and that ball trying
- 37:26Speaker 3: to figure out what golfing that's about it.
- 37:29Speaker 1: See, I feel like I've been a Jordan Brand athlete
- 37:32Speaker 1: for like the last seven or eight years, and I
- 37:33Speaker 1: feel like I know Marcus Jeordan. You know, I know,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I know Jazmine Jeordan.
- 37:38Speaker 4: You know, I'm like George.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Yeah, haven't met haven't met the man who's whose shoes
- 37:44Speaker 1: I'll be rocking. I'm it's crazy, man, But listen, one
- 37:50Speaker 1: thing you get.
- 37:50Speaker 4: All you gotta do is pick up the game. Pick
- 37:52Speaker 4: up the game of golf first and foremost. I know,
- 37:55Speaker 4: I know whatever I know.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Can we played pick a ball?
- 37:59Speaker 4: Yeah? Well look there by yourself. The average the average
- 38:04Speaker 4: as is like sixty five. You ain't sixty five. You
- 38:07Speaker 4: can't play pick the ball.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Flooring, man, Hey, ain't nothing but these old people here
- 38:12Speaker 1: but working, working.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Oh god working. I don't want to get out there.
- 38:16Speaker 4: I don't want none of that. One of that bus.
- 38:18Speaker 4: They give me the business. But you pick up the
- 38:21Speaker 4: game of golf. You picked the game.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Okay, okay, yea, they come hit your boy up, hit
- 38:26Speaker 3: me up, so yo, come to the court, come to
- 38:29Speaker 3: the court.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Introduced that. That's it, man.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I just want to you just say, Cam, I'll take
- 38:34Speaker 1: you to the course. I got nine holds for you,
- 38:36Speaker 1: just me and you get right. We're gonna keep we
- 38:39Speaker 1: gonna keep my little my little sad ass.
- 38:41Speaker 2: You know, we can keep that between us between us,
- 38:48Speaker 2: all right.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I started I started off in Arizona on a great
- 38:54Speaker 1: golf course growing up.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Yeah, starting on the first t program.
- 38:57Speaker 1: But eight year old Cam Jordan's walking walking eighteen holes
- 39:02Speaker 1: because pop's got to on the first tea program in June,
- 39:05Speaker 1: July and August in Arizona. Guess who didn't want to
- 39:08Speaker 1: be there? So I picked up every sport because of golf.
- 39:11Speaker 4: Listen, listen, listen.
- 39:14Speaker 3: At eight years old walk in the course, they would
- 39:17Speaker 3: have lost me. Now, eight years old walking in Arizona.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Oh one hundred and one degrees fifteen? Oh dad, what
- 39:27Speaker 3: are we doing that?
- 39:28Speaker 4: What we're doing?
- 39:29Speaker 1: Man? We can't That's what I'm saying, can't do this.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I was like, yo, basketball is inside. I want that.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Uh you know, football is in like the four months.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Okay that you know, all right, let's track and field springtime.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Let's keep that rolling. So that's hey, anything but anything.
- 39:46Speaker 1: But so then you know, and now everybody plays golf
- 39:49Speaker 1: and everybody's like, yeah, you gotta come golf, and I'm.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Like, I got I got the attention span of a
- 39:53Speaker 2: six year old.
- 39:54Speaker 4: I got sixty nine holes. I need a moment.
- 40:00Speaker 3: You're right, but you know what, Your eyes ain't getting
- 40:03Speaker 3: no younger and all playing that basketball, and listen, you're
- 40:07Speaker 3: gonna want to pick something else up. That's a good
- 40:09Speaker 3: sport to play because you don't gotta run, you don't
- 40:12Speaker 3: gotta do nothing, and you can do what you do
- 40:14Speaker 3: and that means you talk your network and have a
- 40:16Speaker 3: good time.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Facts.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Look, you talk about you you golf with m J
- 40:19Speaker 1: four times, four times a week. Huh. That's just impressive.
- 40:25Speaker 1: And what at what point? At what point did that
- 40:27Speaker 1: come about the fourth to fourth week?
- 40:29Speaker 4: Listen, I'm retired. He's definitely retired.
- 40:32Speaker 3: So you know when you when when you don't got
- 40:34Speaker 3: no job and you don't gotta do nothing. Every day
- 40:36Speaker 3: is a Friday, and you go out there, hit the
- 40:39Speaker 3: hit the ball and then go chase and go find it,
- 40:42Speaker 3: then take care of the kids and you get home.
- 40:43Speaker 4: That's it. That's all I.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Got, right, lifelong friends from golf. I don't know if
- 40:48Speaker 1: I'm ever gonna have a lifelong friend from golf.
- 40:50Speaker 4: That's crazy. List.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Listen, you get out there, you get around the right circles,
- 40:55Speaker 3: you're gonna you don't want to do.
- 40:56Speaker 4: I promise you could tell probably.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Facts, but I'm not good enough to be competitive. So
- 41:01Speaker 1: there's only three things that I'm gonna come out for
- 41:03Speaker 1: golf For One, some one of my boys I haven't
- 41:06Speaker 1: seen in the really long time. He's like, yeah, man
- 41:08Speaker 1: me you know college. Two it's a charity event. Or
- 41:12Speaker 1: three it's best ball.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I like, can I can help? I just can't leave
- 41:18Speaker 2: the fact that I can't leave it hurts.
- 41:20Speaker 4: Don't worry.
- 41:20Speaker 3: As soon as you get your game, all you gotta
- 41:22Speaker 3: do is you a feel good ones.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Trust me.
- 41:26Speaker 3: I know I know us and I say us as
- 41:30Speaker 3: d Lineman, we competitive. I promise you just you just
- 41:34Speaker 3: had him enough good ones. As soon as you start
- 41:37Speaker 3: hitting enough good ones.
- 41:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Facts. This next segment is called fun Facts with Cam
- 41:50Speaker 2: and Dwight.
- 41:54Speaker 1: You know, so fun facts. I just want to let
- 41:57Speaker 1: you know. You know, when you're your ten year over
- 41:58Speaker 1: at the cold, say my ten yere, young Cam Jordan
- 42:02Speaker 1: with the Saints, Uh, did you know the most points
- 42:05Speaker 1: the Saints have scored in a game versus the Colts
- 42:08Speaker 1: was in twenty eleven.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Sixty sixty two to seven and the Superdome.
- 42:13Speaker 1: If you remember that one Peyton man pay Manning had
- 42:17Speaker 1: had the next injury, and.
- 42:18Speaker 3: I tried not to remember that year. I tried not
- 42:21Speaker 3: to remember that year. That was the worst year of
- 42:25Speaker 3: my entire career. I think we won two games that year.
- 42:29Speaker 3: It was terrible. It was terrible.
- 42:32Speaker 4: It was. And the thing is that year we ain't
- 42:35Speaker 4: have no preseason because I think we were. It was
- 42:38Speaker 4: like lockout, lockout. That was my rookie year, so we
- 42:40Speaker 4: had Yeah, we had a lockout. We didn't prepare, we
- 42:43Speaker 4: didn't know who. We thought Payton was going to be there.
- 42:45Speaker 3: So the whole game plan was all centered around Payton
- 42:47Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, which men ain't gonna.
- 42:49Speaker 4: Be out there?
- 42:50Speaker 1: Oh Painter, Painter, not Peyton.
- 42:53Speaker 4: It was Yeah, it was Painter, not paint as well.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Yeah he got painted, which I remember I remem for
- 43:00Speaker 1: that game. I think I think I got my first
- 43:01Speaker 1: like it might have been one of my first fines.
- 43:03Speaker 1: It was like intentional. I might have I had a
- 43:06Speaker 1: later late hit on the quarterback. I was so hungry
- 43:08Speaker 1: for a sack man my rookie year, I had won
- 43:10Speaker 1: it wasn't that. Whatever was man one hundred, one hundred
- 43:16Speaker 1: and six seventeen and a half sacks later, We're okay, now, like.
- 43:20Speaker 4: We're okay, You're good, alright.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Fact number two. Look, so you know the transit between
- 43:27Speaker 1: the Saints and Coats would continue because you know the
- 43:29Speaker 1: Saints one their only Super Bowl in two thousand and nine.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Versus the Colts. Sir, yes, sir, you know and another
- 43:36Speaker 4: moment I try to forget. I try.
- 43:39Speaker 1: You got what you know you got, but you know.
- 43:42Speaker 3: What, losing them, Oh, it never goes away. It never
- 43:47Speaker 3: goes away. I mean, yes, the win, it stays with
- 43:51Speaker 3: you longer, and that brings you to the tough times.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Those ones that you lose.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Man, you can't get them back.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Okay, all right, well then we'll we'll finish this on
- 44:03Speaker 1: a positive now because you know, your only NFL touchdown
- 44:07Speaker 1: was versus the Saints in the Super Bowl.
- 44:11Speaker 4: Let me tell you something two thousand and three, that game.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Let me let me explain to you were having that game.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I wasn't supposed to play that game, all right, And
- 44:20Speaker 3: I remember having a crack rib and I was like, okay,
- 44:26Speaker 3: well you got a crack red. What are gonna do
- 44:28Speaker 3: shoot me up. So they injected my little rib right there.
- 44:33Speaker 3: I took all the little drugs I could take. I
- 44:36Speaker 3: was high as a kite, couldn't. I mean, I promise you.
- 44:39Speaker 3: I was out there, couldn't feel nothing, couldn't feel nothing.
- 44:43Speaker 3: And I'm like, why am I even playing this game?
- 44:45Speaker 3: Why am I even playing this game? My face is numb.
- 44:49Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, here we go. And sure enough,
- 44:52Speaker 3: my only touchdown in my entire career is the game
- 44:56Speaker 3: that ethnically I probably shouldn't have played because I had
- 44:59Speaker 3: a crack rib.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Jeez man, look I should I should have too, but
- 45:04Speaker 1: I only got one.
- 45:06Speaker 2: My first one.
- 45:07Speaker 1: First one was my first one was an interception off
- 45:10Speaker 1: massed effort and the end zone.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I didn't even get no yack. I ain't get no
- 45:13Speaker 2: yack with.
- 45:14Speaker 4: It big.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Already, that's a tuddy.
- 45:20Speaker 1: There should have been a second one against against the
- 45:21Speaker 1: Rams Jared goff uh Trey Henderson sack fumble.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I school.
- 45:26Speaker 1: I run eighty seven to the tuddy, eighty seven forty
- 45:31Speaker 1: yards in. The referee blows it dead, and of course
- 45:33Speaker 1: nobody hears it because everybody's chasing me.
- 45:35Speaker 2: I'm a hook.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Oh no, I'm scored.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I dunk on a gold pull or whatever it was.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Whatever it was like, I'm like, I'm like, hell, yeah,
- 45:44Speaker 1: you know you look back, you see a flag. You're like, no,
- 45:47Speaker 1: not a flag.
- 45:47Speaker 2: But whatever they was done.
- 45:49Speaker 4: It was everybody over celebration, straight to the side.
- 45:55Speaker 1: At least it was it was. It was a confirmed fumble.
- 45:58Speaker 1: So say the same office. Okay, okay, yeah, but god
- 46:03Speaker 1: when I tell you I'm on the sideline like you
- 46:05Speaker 1: run eighty seven after a drive where they came down
- 46:07Speaker 1: it was like a ten play drive.
- 46:08Speaker 3: You will mustn't. Hey, listen, listen. You must have been
- 46:12Speaker 3: pushing it.
- 46:12Speaker 4: You must have been wasn't Was it third? I was
- 46:19Speaker 4: third guy in goodness.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Man either way. So whatever that is, but that that
- 46:25Speaker 1: was mine. So at least we got two together. You
- 46:27Speaker 1: know what I'm saying.
- 46:29Speaker 4: We don't get, but we'll take it. We don't get,
- 46:35Speaker 4: but we will take it.
