- 0:04Speaker 1: What is a tg if hellas welcome back to hel Territory. Uh,
- 0:12Speaker 1: I am not Scott Brown. I'm Katie Wu. You guys
- 0:15Speaker 1: thought it would be a good idea to let me
- 0:16Speaker 1: host the show. So let's let's set our expectations accordingly.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Happy to be here with Eric Kratz, Todd Frazier. Gentlemen,
- 0:24Speaker 1: how are we on this fantastic Friday?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Doing great? Doing great? Better, better face than Scott. We're
- 0:32Speaker 2: good to go. That's always a good day for how
- 0:35Speaker 2: about you, Katty?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Scotty, I mean, Scotty is very good looking, but it's
- 0:39Speaker 3: much better to see Katie's smiling face in your smiling face, Todd,
- 0:43Speaker 3: because anytime that I get to I'm just upset. It's
- 0:47Speaker 3: baseball season for me. I haven't been to the Jersey
- 0:49Speaker 3: jerse for a little bit, but I'll get back out
- 0:52Speaker 3: there so that we can we can wrap it out
- 0:54Speaker 3: in the lab.
- 0:55Speaker 4: I'm ready, I'm ready. Thank you.
- 0:58Speaker 1: As always, we got to get into the the technicalities.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You can subscribe tweet us at FT Live. We're on
- 1:05Speaker 1: YouTube and Twitter today by our merch ah, so please
- 1:08Speaker 1: please please at the Pole Territory shop, I have several
- 1:11Speaker 1: of our shirts in my closet, which is a little
- 1:13Speaker 1: bit of a disaster right now. But you guys understand,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and you know, Cratzy, I thought it was funny here
- 1:19Speaker 1: for you to be so excited to see me because
- 1:21Speaker 1: I have some some evidence of yesterday where that wasn't
- 1:24Speaker 1: really the case.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Did he did it when I'm not here? Of course,
- 1:28Speaker 3: we're gonna talk about Dodgers tomorrow. Get my Dodgers hat out.
- 1:35Speaker 3: We're gonna talk about Dodgers tomorrow.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Get my Dodgers hat out.
- 1:39Speaker 3: That'll be great. We're going to Dodgers Los Angeles. I
- 1:47Speaker 3: know they've lost some games, but it's unbelievable. We got
- 1:50Speaker 3: Katie Willard here.
- 1:51Speaker 5: We're gonna talk about the Dodgers and show hey Otani
- 1:55Speaker 5: and Tate and to ask her her nandez and like
- 1:58Speaker 5: how Mookie bet is back and unbelievable rotation, so deep
- 2:02Speaker 5: and some unbelievable. How great we are in sunny every day. Oh,
- 2:06Speaker 5: it's so great.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I'm so glad Katie's on here.
- 2:10Speaker 1: That's right, Dodger lovin this morning afternoon on foul Territory.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I actually had a nice little game yesterday, beat the
- 2:17Speaker 1: Giants five to two. Emt She and six Indians two
- 2:20Speaker 1: and runs. Jung Huli did become the first Giant to
- 2:23Speaker 1: hit an inside the parker at Dodger Stadium, so that
- 2:26Speaker 1: was a little bit of entertainment. But the Dodgers for
- 2:28Speaker 1: for as rough as that homestand went salvage the series
- 2:31Speaker 1: against the Giants. They got some good production out of
- 2:34Speaker 1: the bottom of their order. They win Thursday's game with
- 2:37Speaker 1: no show Heyo Tani or Mookie Betts in the lineup.
- 2:40Speaker 1: You guys talked about this yesterday, Otani getting a little
- 2:43Speaker 1: bit of a blow as he kind of struggles through
- 2:45Speaker 1: a pretty significant slump for his standards to start the season.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Dave Roberts said, we're just gonna give him a little break.
- 2:51Speaker 1: He should be back in the lineup today leading off
- 2:54Speaker 1: against the Angels down in Anaheim. But yeah, guys, that's uh.
- 2:59Speaker 1: We got a lot a lot going on and what
- 3:00Speaker 1: is officially MLB Rivalry weekend, But I'm looking at some
- 3:04Speaker 1: of these matchups, not a lot of them scream rivalry
- 3:07Speaker 1: to me.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Well, I mean, for me, if in the East Coast,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I mean you think about the Yankees and Mets. I
- 3:15Speaker 2: think that's the biggest thing for me, first and foremost
- 3:18Speaker 2: I know Kratzy understands that Kratzy is going to talk
- 3:20Speaker 2: about his series, the Old whatever you call it. I'll
- 3:23Speaker 2: let him talk about it.
- 3:24Speaker 4: But yes, this is a rival for sure, Yankees Mets NonStop.
- 3:28Speaker 2: It's going to be a battle here. I know the
- 3:30Speaker 2: Mets have been struggling, but the Yankees have been up.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Up Yankee or our Yankees have been up, Mets have
- 3:36Speaker 2: been down. But a nice sweep from the Mets coming
- 3:38Speaker 2: off a good series against the Tigers. So yeah, there's
- 3:41Speaker 2: there's a couple. There's not many, though I agree with
- 3:43Speaker 2: you totally. There's there's only a handful. If that many, Well.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Let's let's get to a let's get to a big one. Uh,
- 3:51Speaker 1: Phillies Pirates, Let's charge them ounds, all right? The Phillies
- 4:01Speaker 1: don't call it a comeback. They're all of a sudden
- 4:03Speaker 1: tied with the Washington Nationals per second in the NL East,
- 4:07Speaker 1: though the Braves have a pretty hefty nine game lead
- 4:10Speaker 1: over them in first place. What a weird division, it's
- 4:13Speaker 1: been so far over there. But Phillies Pirates all weekend long,
- 4:16Speaker 1: a lot of good pitching matchups, Wheeler schemes. On Sunday,
- 4:20Speaker 1: let's backtrack a little bit, because in April, though, we
- 4:23Speaker 1: were talking about Philadelphia and it wasn't so great. But
- 4:26Speaker 1: since Don Maddingley took over, the Phillies are twelve and four.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And I'm not at all suggesting that Rob Thompson was
- 4:32Speaker 1: the problem by any means, but sometimes, you guys, know this,
- 4:35Speaker 1: a team with that much talent and getting off to
- 4:37Speaker 1: such a rough start needs a bit of a shakeup.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And firing Thompson when they were nine and nineteen, all
- 4:43Speaker 1: of a sudden they're twelve and four cents. Then they've
- 4:45Speaker 1: won all five series under Don Maddingly. I say this
- 4:48Speaker 1: all the time, winning teams win series. And we're seeing
- 4:52Speaker 1: a lot better brand of baseball for the Phillies. You know,
- 4:54Speaker 1: this is a team where you look at the talent
- 4:56Speaker 1: and you just see how they were in April and
- 4:57Speaker 1: you thought this cannot be sustainable. This team is so
- 5:00Speaker 1: much better than their record, and they're starting to play
- 5:02Speaker 1: that way. They've committed just one error since Madden Lee
- 5:05Speaker 1: took over as manager for contact guys. In their previous
- 5:08Speaker 1: twenty eight games, they had nineteen total air. So the
- 5:10Speaker 1: offense is better, the pitching is better. They had a
- 5:13Speaker 1: big win over the Red Sox yesterday. Kyle Schwarberg go ahead,
- 5:17Speaker 1: two run homer in the eighth. Heyesus Lozzardo, six shuddy Rangers.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Swarez for Boston struck out eight over five and a
- 5:24Speaker 1: third retired the first eleven batters you faced before Bryce
- 5:28Speaker 1: Harper drew a walk to give their Phillies the first
- 5:30Speaker 1: base runner with two outs in the fourth, and then
- 5:33Speaker 1: the Phillies came to life. But what are our thoughts
- 5:35Speaker 1: about this Phillies team as of late.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I mean, I'm just gonna go straight to the Yes,
- 5:41Speaker 3: they're winning, and you have to beat the teams that
- 5:43Speaker 3: you're playing in front of you, blah blah blah, all
- 5:45Speaker 3: that stuff. The Phillies are in the National League. I
- 5:48Speaker 3: know that's not any news to anybody else, But the
- 5:51Speaker 3: National League has a lot of good teams. They now
- 5:53Speaker 3: Central has teams over five hundred. Then they do more
- 5:56Speaker 3: teams over five hundred than they do under five hundred.
- 5:59Speaker 3: And they've been playing the National League teams that are
- 6:03Speaker 3: the Giants since Mattingly has taken over the Giants under
- 6:07Speaker 3: five hundred, which had Tony Vitello not kind of blown
- 6:12Speaker 3: the game and not sure why he did. What he
- 6:15Speaker 3: did in the one series there. They ended up getting
- 6:17Speaker 3: too walkoffs in that series. Then they played the Marlins, okay,
- 6:21Speaker 3: Then they played the Athletics, who I think were the
- 6:23Speaker 3: best team of this stretch. Then they played the Rockies,
- 6:27Speaker 3: and now they are playing the Red Sox in which
- 6:29Speaker 3: they just like Katie said, they took that series. You
- 6:33Speaker 3: have to win those series all teams under five hundred,
- 6:36Speaker 3: except I think the Athletics were not under five hundred
- 6:40Speaker 3: when they played them. But there's a stretch coming up
- 6:43Speaker 3: here where they got to play some teams that are
- 6:45Speaker 3: playing better. The Guardians are playing better the Pirates right
- 6:48Speaker 3: now in the poop series. They have the Reds coming up,
- 6:51Speaker 3: the Padres and the Dodgers and back to back series.
- 6:55Speaker 3: So I'm not necessarily saying what they're doing as fools Gold.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I'm saying that there hasn't been this massive uptick in
- 7:03Speaker 3: offense like we thought we would see from this lineup.
- 7:06Speaker 3: There's been a massive regression back to the mean for
- 7:10Speaker 3: their pitching where they were pretty unlucky. What was going
- 7:15Speaker 3: on for them, like they weren't they weren't getting out
- 7:17Speaker 3: of jams. All the runs that were being left on
- 7:20Speaker 3: base were getting cashed in by the relievers. So their
- 7:24Speaker 3: pitching has been as dominant as we think it should
- 7:26Speaker 3: be over this Mattingly stretch. The defense, clearly one air
- 7:30Speaker 3: has been amazing. The offense, I'm still wondering how they're
- 7:36Speaker 3: going to do against the upper echelon of pitching the
- 7:40Speaker 3: sale Strider. I'm thinking of the East al Conte al Contra.
- 7:46Speaker 3: I think they did okay or they didn't face them.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Either way, they lost to Max Meyer. But through this
- 7:51Speaker 3: I got to see this offense not just being the
- 7:54Speaker 3: bottom bottom ten in offense. Yes, they're hitting a lot
- 7:58Speaker 3: of dingers, but they have to put together good at
- 8:01Speaker 3: bats and you see some resurgence from Boom. You see
- 8:04Speaker 3: some better played appearances from the top of the lineup
- 8:08Speaker 3: in Trey Turner and Schwarber's been really carrying them through
- 8:12Speaker 3: this time, leading the league in homers.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Cratzy real simple man.
- 8:16Speaker 2: And when you're looking for the best seats available, where

- 8:23Speaker 3: You can look at all that, you can look at
- 8:24Speaker 3: where you're going to be sitting. I gotta sit at
- 8:26Speaker 3: a certain spot. I want to be able to see
- 8:28Speaker 3: a whole field. I don't need to be close to
- 8:30Speaker 3: the field, gotta be a little higher out of the sun.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I'm bougie that way.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Of course you are.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And guess what, you have a big family, and so
- 8:38Speaker 2: do I, so you have to decide right away.

- 9:07Speaker 2: account so you can use it later. With over thirty
- 9:10Speaker 2: five million downloads, see Geek is the number one rated
- 9:13Speaker 2: ticketing app. Thank you, See Geek. Yeah, and I think
- 9:16Speaker 2: to kind of piggyback what you said. They're finding ways
- 9:19Speaker 2: to win games, they're finding ways to win close games,
- 9:22Speaker 2: and they're not scoring a lot of runs. So I
- 9:24Speaker 2: mean that, if you think of it in a nutshell
- 9:27Speaker 2: like that's actually pretty Okay, if I'm a Phillies fan
- 9:30Speaker 2: understanding when it all does click, they're going to start running.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Here a little bit.
- 9:34Speaker 2: They got wheel her back, they had a fantastic outing
- 9:36Speaker 2: the other day.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Swarber's just doing his thing.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Man, It's been really fun to watch over the years,
- 9:42Speaker 2: just watching him light up scoreboards all the time with
- 9:45Speaker 2: home runs and what have you. Jesus Lizardo. You know
- 9:49Speaker 2: he'll have one good outing and then you know he'll
- 9:52Speaker 2: you know, tread back and then have two good outings.
- 9:54Speaker 2: You know it's hit or miss, but he's always a good,
- 9:57Speaker 2: good starter for them. And then you know Ranger Suarez,
- 10:00Speaker 2: you know, absolute beasts, racking up the strikeouts, not overpower people.
- 10:03Speaker 2: So I can't wait to see what's in store for
- 10:06Speaker 2: this Philly team as they move forward. Nine games is
- 10:08Speaker 2: a lot, though, but you get on a run here,
- 10:10Speaker 2: you never know what can happen.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Ranger was striking out a lot of the Phillies last night,
- 10:15Speaker 3: and that was cool to see him X teammate of
- 10:17Speaker 3: there striking out the Phillies. So that was that was cool.
- 10:21Speaker 3: But to me, I think the division's out of reach
- 10:25Speaker 3: on it. We had Cano on Hasu's Cano, the writer
- 10:30Speaker 3: for the Athletic from that follows the Braves, and I
- 10:34Speaker 3: asked them, I'm like, what are the Braves need to
- 10:37Speaker 3: do or what could the Braves do that would like
- 10:41Speaker 3: get them out of this because they are leading the
- 10:43Speaker 3: league and pitching, leading the league and hitting and they
- 10:46Speaker 3: have a nine game lead over the Phillies. All we said,
- 10:49Speaker 3: you can't win it in April, but you can lose
- 10:51Speaker 3: it in the Phillies. I just think nine games is
- 10:54Speaker 3: just too much. It's too much to overcome with as
- 10:57Speaker 3: good of a team. If they were like four games
- 11:01Speaker 3: under five hundred and the Braves were like four games over,
- 11:04Speaker 3: five games over five hundred, you know that would be close.
- 11:07Speaker 3: But the Braves are just they're train right now. They
- 11:10Speaker 3: are running downhill. I get it they lost last night,
- 11:12Speaker 3: But to me, I think the Phillies have to start
- 11:15Speaker 3: looking at the wildcard. What does that wildcard look like?
- 11:19Speaker 3: You know, there's still four and a half out of
- 11:20Speaker 3: the wildcard. I know it's early, but who are the
- 11:23Speaker 3: teams ahead of them? Well, every freaking team in this
- 11:26Speaker 3: n EL Central. So they have to be able to start.
- 11:30Speaker 3: They have to be able to start or continue to
- 11:33Speaker 3: win series. But they have to be able to start
- 11:36Speaker 3: dominating these teams that I don't feel like they're quite dominating.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I get it, they're winning, and winning in the big
- 11:42Speaker 3: LEAs is a big thing. But when you get to
- 11:44Speaker 3: these better team, these teams that are playing better, you
- 11:48Speaker 3: gotta be able to put some wins together against those two.
- 11:50Speaker 3: And they got a tough stretch coming up.
- 11:54Speaker 1: They do they do, guys, and we'll see them kick
- 11:57Speaker 1: it off against the Pirates. We mentioned the Nlcent, we'll
- 12:00Speaker 1: talk about weird divisions. I spent a lot of time
- 12:02Speaker 1: in the Nlcentral and this is not the kind of
- 12:05Speaker 1: quality of baseball I was expecting from this division. But
- 12:07Speaker 1: we'll get a good test here looking at the probables.
- 12:10Speaker 1: We got Aaron Nola, Braxton Ashcraft today, Christopher Sanchez, Bubba
- 12:14Speaker 1: Chandler on Saturday, and again Wheeler Schemes that's a big
- 12:17Speaker 1: one on Sunday. Do we think the Pittsburgh Pirates are
- 12:23Speaker 1: a legit team. We're gonna spend a lot of time
- 12:25Speaker 1: talking about the Cubs fool a great you can never
- 12:28Speaker 1: come out of the Brewers, the Cardinals playing really well.
- 12:31Speaker 1: The entire NL Central really all about five hundred playing
- 12:34Speaker 1: competitive baseball. Are we seeing the Pirates turn a corner though,
- 12:37Speaker 1: and establishing themselves as a better team. And dare I
- 12:40Speaker 1: say a team to get excited about.
- 12:46Speaker 4: I'll go, I'll go on this one.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I've always been a believer how the
- 12:51Speaker 2: Pirates come out. They always come out hot and then
- 12:53Speaker 2: they fizzle. Now all of a sudden, they're finding these
- 12:56Speaker 2: little trend here of winning series, fighting their way back
- 13:00Speaker 2: to you know, get into the game at least not
- 13:03Speaker 2: always necessarily winning it. But I mean, I talk about guys.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I know the pitching staff's been great, but O'Neil Cruz
- 13:09Speaker 2: has been fantastic.
- 13:10Speaker 4: You talk, You think about where he started first.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Game of the year with the dismal outfield performance, and
- 13:17Speaker 2: next thing you know, he's you know, he's making catchers
- 13:19Speaker 2: diving for balls and hitting the ball really well. So
- 13:22Speaker 2: you know, honestly, yeah, this could be a different Pittsburgh
- 13:26Speaker 2: Pirate team moving forward. I mean, you've got veterans and
- 13:29Speaker 2: Mitch Keller who have come in and still throwing the
- 13:31Speaker 2: ball hard. We talk about Paul Skeens. You got guys
- 13:34Speaker 2: that are hungry, and when you're hungry, you never know.
- 13:38Speaker 4: What can happen.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And you know, Don Kelly over there and the crew
- 13:41Speaker 2: are letting these boys play and letting them have some fun.
- 13:44Speaker 4: And I think that's the big difference right now.
- 13:47Speaker 3: To me, if the Pirates do anything this year, are
- 13:49Speaker 3: they a better team? Katie? Absolutely, definitely a better team.
- 13:52Speaker 3: There's no doubt. Anytime you bring Paul Skeins back and
- 13:56Speaker 3: for another year, he's gonna learn more, They're just automatically
- 13:59Speaker 3: gonna be a better They added the offense. To me,
- 14:02Speaker 3: I talk about it with my high school baseball team.
- 14:06Speaker 3: How much free basis free ninety feet are the Pirates
- 14:10Speaker 3: going to give away? That? I think is where this
- 14:14Speaker 3: season will end up hinging. They have great pitching, obviously,
- 14:18Speaker 3: Paul Skenes, Mitch Keller, Jared Jones is coming back, Ashcraft
- 14:24Speaker 3: is doing what he's doing. Buba Chandler. I think they
- 14:27Speaker 3: haven't quite tapped into it yet because of what I'm
- 14:30Speaker 3: saying about the free ninety feet. He's walking too many guys,
- 14:33Speaker 3: which is elevating his pitch count, which is elevating his
- 14:37Speaker 3: his era, and he's not able to go deep into games.
- 14:41Speaker 3: The outfield right now. Ryan O'Hearn really didn't play much outfield.
- 14:46Speaker 3: He had played a little bit before, but now he's
- 14:48Speaker 3: out in right field every day because they hamstrung himself
- 14:51Speaker 3: signing a guy like marcel A Zuno. Ozuna's locked down
- 14:56Speaker 3: a DH and he hasn't produced a ton obviously, really
- 14:59Speaker 3: really slow start. But to me, is the outfield going
- 15:02Speaker 3: to give too many extra bases away? I'm not just
- 15:06Speaker 3: talking about are they giving away doubles, turning the you know,
- 15:09Speaker 3: turn to triples. I'm saying O'Neil Cruz didn't catch the
- 15:14Speaker 3: ball that would have kept Paul Skins no hit, or
- 15:18Speaker 3: intact he gave him a hit later on. But it's
- 15:21Speaker 3: not just O'Neil Cruz, it's Brian Reynolds and O'Neil Cruz.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Brian Reynolds is playing left field now because he was
- 15:26Speaker 3: a right fielder, which there's something ridiculous. I forget how
- 15:30Speaker 3: many extra square feet you have to cover in left
- 15:32Speaker 3: field in Pittsburgh and now you have two guys that
- 15:36Speaker 3: are kind of new out there and O'Neil Cruz and
- 15:38Speaker 3: Brian Reynolds. Is that going to are those things the
- 15:43Speaker 3: walks from some of their key pitchers and just the
- 15:47Speaker 3: not being able to make those big league plays that
- 15:50Speaker 3: I think some above average defenders at different positions make now.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I think Connor Griffins the guy you need, and I
- 15:56Speaker 3: think Triolo's absence on defense is huge. He's a gold
- 16:01Speaker 3: Glove utility guy and so when you're able to move
- 16:03Speaker 3: him around the infield. It's the old it's the old adage,
- 16:07Speaker 3: how much offense do they want without sacrificing the defense?
- 16:11Speaker 3: So that's where I think it will hinge if the
- 16:14Speaker 3: playoffs are a playoff or if the Pirates are a
- 16:16Speaker 3: playoff contending team.
- 16:19Speaker 1: All Right, the Baltimore Oils are in a little bit
- 16:21Speaker 1: of a slide here. Their closer that they signed over
- 16:23Speaker 1: the offseason, Ryan Helsley on the IL. But Cratsy wants
- 16:26Speaker 1: to give some love to Rico Garcia ozero point four
- 16:30Speaker 1: to seven ERA, that's third in the MLBU Kratzee, what
- 16:34Speaker 1: you got on our guy here?
- 16:36Speaker 3: I mean, I need a show of hands between the
- 16:38Speaker 3: two of you. Have you guys heard of Rigo Garcia
- 16:40Speaker 3: before we brought it up today? Yeah? Exactly, And that's
- 16:45Speaker 3: exactly what. This guy has gone sixty four straight batters
- 16:50Speaker 3: dating back to last year, and he's given up one hit,
- 16:54Speaker 3: one total hit, and we're like, how do we not know?
- 16:57Speaker 3: About this guy. Anytime a guy bounces around kind of
- 17:01Speaker 3: a I guess it would be journey man. But like
- 17:04Speaker 3: he's in and out the big leagues, is in triple A.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Like the Orioles are trying to The Orioles look down
- 17:11Speaker 3: south to Tampa and they're like, oh, man, Bakers, they're closer.
- 17:15Speaker 3: We don't have a closer right now. We got rid
- 17:16Speaker 3: of him because why last year, we're not sure. But hey,
- 17:21Speaker 3: you know what, we could find a closer somewhere. They
- 17:23Speaker 3: have one. To me, you have to slot guys in
- 17:26Speaker 3: and we'll probably talk about it later with another picture.
- 17:28Speaker 3: But you slot guys in when they're doing well, when
- 17:30Speaker 3: the other guys aren't doing well. And I think if
- 17:33Speaker 3: if you give him a shot at the closer role,
- 17:35Speaker 3: I think right now he's hot. Ride the hot hand,
- 17:39Speaker 3: as Todd.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Says, ride that wave. That's all you gotta do. And
- 17:44Speaker 2: you want to listen. Going unknown is not the worst
- 17:48Speaker 2: thing possible. Keep doing what you're doing. Hey, there's nothing
- 17:53Speaker 2: wrong with that. But now once it gets out there,
- 17:55Speaker 2: people start collecting his cards and all that good stuff.
- 17:59Speaker 1: All right, the athletic We got to call him from
- 18:02Speaker 1: our colleagues. Tim Britton and Will Salmon. Two certified great
- 18:05Speaker 1: dudes with a good debate here, Nolan McLean or I'm
- 18:08Speaker 1: gonna mess his name up, Cam Schlittler, Okay, I've never
- 18:11Speaker 1: had to say that live before. Passed it for igniting
- 18:14Speaker 1: the debate about New York's emerging aces. This is a
- 18:17Speaker 1: hard one for me. Guys Kratzy, I'll start with you.
- 18:19Speaker 1: If you got to pick one, who are you picking?
- 18:22Speaker 3: Yes? Is that all right? I don't know. There's something
- 18:26Speaker 3: about Nolan McClain's athleticism, and I've seen him struggle in
- 18:31Speaker 3: games and still get through them. Yesterday, yesterday, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 3: he couldn't quite find, couldn't quite find that sinker, kept
- 18:39Speaker 3: running off the plate, running off the plate. He got
- 18:41Speaker 3: dinged up for a three run homer early. So I've
- 18:44Speaker 3: seen him struggle and I love his athleticism and competitiveness
- 18:50Speaker 3: to still get deep into games. Cam Slitler, I haven't
- 18:53Speaker 3: seen him struggle yet, so I don't know how he's
- 18:55Speaker 3: gonna do when he does struggle. I just something about
- 18:59Speaker 3: Nolan McClain. He doesn't have as many miles on that arm.
- 19:03Speaker 3: He just really started pitching. He's this good and he's
- 19:05Speaker 3: just learning something about Loa MacLean. I guess I have
- 19:09Speaker 3: to choose him.
- 19:11Speaker 4: You don't have to.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I don't know why you say you have to choose him. Listen,
- 19:15Speaker 2: he had a really good World Baseball Classic. Put his
- 19:19Speaker 2: name on the map. He's got a nasty sweeper, slider,
- 19:23Speaker 2: curve all mixed in one that's one of the filthiest
- 19:26Speaker 2: I've ever seen. I love watching him pitch. Whenever he pitches,
- 19:30Speaker 2: I know the Mets always have a chance to win
- 19:32Speaker 2: that ballgame. When he went down yesterday, I'm like, oh, oh,
- 19:34Speaker 2: a little chink in the armor and boom nothing. He
- 19:38Speaker 2: came back and did fantastic. Cam Schlitzler's had one bad
- 19:41Speaker 2: outing and that was three runs so one time this year.
- 19:46Speaker 2: So for him, I think it's Cam Schlitzler. And I'm
- 19:49Speaker 2: going to say that with all dred percent positivity. I
- 19:52Speaker 2: think they need to sign this guy to a long
- 19:54Speaker 2: term deal. He's absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to see him
- 19:57Speaker 2: throw tonight. He's tall and stif, he throws hard, and
- 20:01Speaker 2: he's gonna mean muggy when he does it. So he's
- 20:03Speaker 2: one of those guys you definitely want on the bump
- 20:07Speaker 2: as they call it, anytime you can get him on there.
- 20:10Speaker 3: So he has a better career. Cam Schlailer has a
- 20:12Speaker 3: better career, said Todd Frazier. And I say, Noel McLain
- 20:16Speaker 3: has a better career. So we'll go back to May
- 20:19Speaker 3: fifteenth in ten years and see who see who's right.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Some breaking news here from Andy Cosco and Baltimore covers
- 20:28Speaker 1: the Orioles. For the Baltimore Banner, anfielder Jordan Westburg is
- 20:31Speaker 1: set to have elbow surgery. Per a source, he'll miss
- 20:34Speaker 1: the rest of the season. Another brutal blow for the Orioles.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Can't seem to catch a break here. Crassey, what you
- 20:41Speaker 1: got on this?
- 20:43Speaker 3: I was just on the Baltimore radio station and I said, yes,
- 20:48Speaker 3: one player doesn't change your season. But if you look
- 20:50Speaker 3: at the record when Jordan Westburg's in since he has
- 20:53Speaker 3: been called up, the Orioles win a lot of games.
- 20:56Speaker 3: And you were hoping, okay, this injury would give them
- 21:00Speaker 3: something that okay, maybe he'll be out for a month.
- 21:04Speaker 3: But as the last few days, last few like the
- 21:07Speaker 3: last week, it started leaning towards this doesn't look good.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And now you finally get this information. It's tough. You
- 21:13Speaker 3: can't you can never be behind the eight ball in
- 21:17Speaker 3: the American League East, because there's always going to be
- 21:20Speaker 3: one or two teams that are just gonna outpace you
- 21:23Speaker 3: and just not let you come up for air. And
- 21:26Speaker 3: the Oriols have to figure it out. They got to
- 21:28Speaker 3: figure it out now without Jordan Westburg. They have to
- 21:30Speaker 3: figure out how to score runs and actually play good
- 21:33Speaker 3: defense because their defense is letting them down.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Peter Alonzo like, there's some stuff going on.
- 21:42Speaker 4: It's just you know, you hate.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I don't want anybody getting hurting baseball, man, it hurts.
- 21:47Speaker 2: It hurts MLB hurts everything. Alonso's struggling a little bit. Yeah,
- 21:52Speaker 2: I want the Oriols to do good. I was happy
- 21:54Speaker 2: they made all these moves. We've I've talked about him
- 21:56Speaker 2: for years, how they needed to get rid of some
- 21:58Speaker 2: guys to make them better, and they haven't.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Just struggle right now, but hopefully they'll get off the schneid.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a well disappointing there. I really liked what
- 22:07Speaker 1: Michael Lias did to kick off the off season. He
- 22:09Speaker 1: went out and said exactly what he wanted to get
- 22:11Speaker 1: and then he did it. I loved the Hellesley pickup.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I know that hasn't gone according to plan all the
- 22:15Speaker 1: way with that right elbow soreness. He's on the AL
- 22:18Speaker 1: four and just seems to be big blow after big
- 22:21Speaker 1: blow for Baltimore in a juggernaut of a division. The
- 22:24Speaker 1: Ale East is not a division you want to get behind.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And as you guys said, so, hate to hear it
- 22:29Speaker 1: for Jordan, hate to hear it for Baltimore. Just hate
- 22:31Speaker 1: injuries in general. Ban We talk a lot about banning
- 22:34Speaker 1: things in baseball. Let's just ban injuries. I think it
- 22:36Speaker 1: makes a long.
- 22:39Speaker 3: I like it. Let's ban him. Injuries are gone. Oh
- 22:42Speaker 3: wait no, Teams don't care about injuries until you get hurt.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Then they're like, huh, how did another picture get hurt?
- 22:48Speaker 3: We need them all to throw one hundred miles an hour.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to foul Territory and welcome to the hot Corner.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Just an athletic takeover on this show today. I'm all
- 23:06Speaker 1: about it. From our writer out in Cleveland, Zach Mazel.
- 23:09Speaker 1: He has a good one up today. For every superstar
- 23:12Speaker 1: MLB hitter, there is that one pitcher who gives them fits. Fellas,
- 23:16Speaker 1: you know exactly what I'm talking about. There are so
- 23:19Speaker 1: many different pitchers mentioned by all of these prolific hitters
- 23:22Speaker 1: in this article. I'll do some skimming. Kyle Gibson, old
- 23:26Speaker 1: friend held Pete Alonzo hitless in seventeen at bets. You
- 23:30Speaker 1: go through the list. Jose Ramirez one for seventeen against
- 23:34Speaker 1: Journeyman reliever Taylor Rogers loved this quote from Ramirez, sometimes
- 23:38Speaker 1: baseball is stupid, before flashing two thumbs up. Sometimes baseball
- 23:43Speaker 1: is good. Now, you guys have some stats here that
- 23:47Speaker 1: are kind kind producers. Put us up here, Kratz, you
- 23:50Speaker 1: crushed some of these guys. Can you name the person
- 23:52Speaker 1: or the picture that you crushed the most.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I mean it's kind of relative. I think of the
- 23:57Speaker 3: most I've ever hit against a picture like most at bats,
- 24:02Speaker 3: I think is like fourteen at bats. So it's a
- 24:04Speaker 3: little way different than for Todd. Guys who play every
- 24:06Speaker 3: day crush the most. I mean, I remember Mitchell. But okay,
- 24:11Speaker 3: there's some good ones. I mean, anytime I have a dinger,
- 24:14Speaker 3: it's good. Mike Minor, James Shields. Where at wago g
- 24:19Speaker 3: see one that's not on here? Owned me see look
- 24:23Speaker 3: like oh for five. That's like one game for Todd,
- 24:26Speaker 3: oh for four? See loves me. She doesn't.
- 24:31Speaker 4: She puts up there.
- 24:32Speaker 3: People she puts. There's just not a lot of people
- 24:35Speaker 3: that own me, Todd. That's what that stat says, even
- 24:37Speaker 3: though my Baseball Reference page would say different. Mitchell Bobs
- 24:41Speaker 3: is not up there. Mitchell Bobs, I was two for
- 24:44Speaker 3: three with two three run homers off of them.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody cares unless his first name is Wade Bogs. Okay,
- 24:52Speaker 2: nobody cares about Bob.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I cared. I care.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Listen, Yeah, Now for me, the one and the Hall
- 25:03Speaker 2: of famer, you're he's probably gonna be a Hall of
- 25:05Speaker 2: Famer in my opinion, the role as Chapman.
- 25:07Speaker 4: You got a homer off him.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I was.
- 25:08Speaker 4: I think I was over against the guy. It's the one.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Dude I always wanted to get because I was one
- 25:13Speaker 2: of the first guys he's faced in baseball when he
- 25:17Speaker 2: came over from Cuba. I got up there in the
- 25:20Speaker 2: first pitch. He hit me on the back of knee.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I just had miniscu surgery on the inside part of
- 25:23Speaker 2: my back knee hit the same spot and I just
- 25:26Speaker 2: came back after two months stint of rehabbing ninety eight
- 25:30Speaker 2: on the back knee.
- 25:31Speaker 4: I took a day.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Off I had black and Blue like nobody else, oh
- 25:34Speaker 2: for seven, and he lets me know every time. Oh
- 25:38Speaker 2: Cookie three ninety one. I'll take that some Marge. I
- 25:43Speaker 2: all right. Jeff Locke was a lefty. Brian Shaw. I
- 25:47Speaker 2: got one hit off him in the playoffs. That's not
- 25:49Speaker 2: showing that.
- 25:50Speaker 4: Chapman.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Aaron Nola my last bat against him, Uh, he hit me.
- 25:57Speaker 2: I got hit by a pitch, So I'll take that,
- 26:00Speaker 2: and it caused a three run double. Corey Klueber absolutely filthy,
- 26:04Speaker 2: probably three singles. Annabel Sanchez, my goodness, gracious, not so
- 26:07Speaker 2: overpowering either.
- 26:08Speaker 4: That's terrible. One double off the wall against him in Detroit.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I remember the one, the one that I looked up.
- 26:15Speaker 3: It's great that you remember the one hit. And that's
- 26:17Speaker 3: usually what happens. These got like the really good hitters.
- 26:19Speaker 3: It's like they get that one hit off of somebody
- 26:22Speaker 3: and you're like, did it locked him in? I know it,
- 26:26Speaker 3: But the one thing, do you know who struck you
- 26:28Speaker 3: out the most? Todd This was something I was researching
- 26:32Speaker 3: before the game, because you tend to forget, you tend
- 26:38Speaker 3: to forget strikeouts. You tend to forget guys that strike
- 26:40Speaker 3: you out the most. If you get hits against them,
- 26:43Speaker 3: because the world as Chapman, Yes, I have a I
- 26:46Speaker 3: have a go ahead double in the ninth inning off
- 26:49Speaker 3: of them in Cincinnati, and I have a game tying
- 26:52Speaker 3: homer off them in Philly in the ninth inning. But
- 26:56Speaker 3: he struck me out. He struck me out every other
- 26:58Speaker 3: time I faced him. So but I could care. Yes,
- 27:00Speaker 3: Like to me, it's about how you do against the guy,
- 27:04Speaker 3: and you sit there and you go. But anyway, lance Lynn,
- 27:07Speaker 3: I found out he struck you out fifteen times. Lance
- 27:10Speaker 3: Lynn threw a fastball.
- 27:11Speaker 4: That's it to me. Don't say that he's in the book.
- 27:17Speaker 4: He's in the book a couple times though, too.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I wonder, there you go. That's how hitters. That's how
- 27:22Speaker 3: hitters think, Katie, And there are guys for whatever reason.
- 27:25Speaker 3: For me, like without looking at the stats, I would
- 27:28Speaker 3: have said, Bronson Arroyo owns me. Bronson Arroyo would throw
- 27:31Speaker 3: a slider that I swear he could have told me
- 27:34Speaker 3: it was coming and I would have still swung at
- 27:37Speaker 3: it and missed it. I felt like the slider that
- 27:39Speaker 3: he would throw was like gonna come back to him.
- 27:42Speaker 3: It was like a boomerang slider he'd throw like a
- 27:44Speaker 3: little one, then he'd throw a bigger one, and I
- 27:46Speaker 3: was like, no way, this is gonna be a little one,
- 27:47Speaker 3: and I'm just swinging at it as last at bat
- 27:51Speaker 3: in my career against him. It was my third at
- 27:54Speaker 3: bat of a game, and Jimmy Rollins goes, well, if
- 27:57Speaker 3: you can't hit the slider, why don't you just move
- 27:59Speaker 3: up in the box. And I was like, what are
- 28:00Speaker 3: we in Little League? Like, no, I'm going to stay
- 28:03Speaker 3: in the same spot. He goes, well, it's not working
- 28:05Speaker 3: out for you, is it. I'm like all right, And
- 28:09Speaker 3: sure enough, he threw me a sinker and I got
- 28:10Speaker 3: a base hit through the hole. Soon after that, he
- 28:13Speaker 3: got his first ever stin on the ILLI and Tommy
- 28:16Speaker 3: John surgery. But if everybody had learned to throw like
- 28:19Speaker 3: Bronson Arroyo, my career would have been over in twenty thirteen.
- 28:23Speaker 3: But everybody, everybody wanted to throw like Eradis Chapman and
- 28:26Speaker 3: Craig Kimberl And I was like, all right, great guys
- 28:29Speaker 3: that throw four seam fastballs and they come after you
- 28:32Speaker 3: love it.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Yeah, So do you guys know, do's know stepping into
- 28:38Speaker 1: the box like this guy owns me because I have
- 28:42Speaker 1: Maybe I never forget anything, and I would be so
- 28:44Speaker 1: rattled in my head if I'm like, oh no, I'm
- 28:46Speaker 1: one for twenty against the sky, it's about to be
- 28:47Speaker 1: one for twenty one. How often do you remember these things?
- 28:50Speaker 1: I mean, top fother. You just brattled off an entire
- 28:52Speaker 1: encyclopedia of your career. No, No, in your head somewhere.
- 28:57Speaker 2: You want it that much more just to hit. I
- 28:59Speaker 2: don't care what it was. I wanted to hit so
- 29:01Speaker 2: bad Max Scherzer. I find my last bat against him
- 29:06Speaker 2: had a double off the wall and I wanted to
- 29:08Speaker 2: lift the base up because I finally got got to him.
- 29:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you just want it that much more.
- 29:14Speaker 2: And you knew, you know, when you're facing Chapman and
- 29:17Speaker 2: whatever team he was on here, like if they were
- 29:19Speaker 2: up in the ninth, I'm looking at the score, I'm like,
- 29:21Speaker 2: h all right, I'll be a fourth.
- 29:23Speaker 4: That next inning if this guy gets.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Out, like you know when that picture's coming and Aaron Nola, Man,
- 29:30Speaker 2: that pissed me off because I knew the curve ball
- 29:32Speaker 2: was coming. You're getting at least one or two of
- 29:34Speaker 2: them in that bat, and the fastball would freeze you
- 29:37Speaker 2: on the outer half and it would come back and
- 29:39Speaker 2: then he'd get that ball off the plate and I'd
- 29:42Speaker 2: look at Joe West or whoever it was.
- 29:43Speaker 4: I said, no, you can't do that to me right now,
- 29:45Speaker 4: come on, man. So whatever, Cratzy, it is what it is.
- 29:51Speaker 3: It is what it is. But I mean, we're out
- 29:53Speaker 3: of it now, Katie. But you asked that question, like,
- 29:56Speaker 3: did you ever know that somebody owned you? You knew it,
- 30:00Speaker 3: and I think sometimes that was your that was the kryptonite.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Even good hitters they're like, oh, I know this guy
- 30:06Speaker 3: owns me, so they're gonna change their approach and now
- 30:09Speaker 3: oh for ten turns the oh for thirteen, or oh
- 30:12Speaker 3: for thirteen, turns oh for twenty. But players think hitters,
- 30:18Speaker 3: especially think every single time up you're gonna get a hit.
- 30:20Speaker 3: If you do not think you're gonna get a hit,
- 30:22Speaker 3: you're cooked. Even guys that were like, oh, this is
- 30:25Speaker 3: gonna be a tough at bat, like you're already cooked.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Like I was never good enough to like give away
- 30:33Speaker 3: and at bat I wanted the at bat against every guy.
- 30:36Speaker 3: My career would have shown I probably should have been
- 30:38Speaker 3: like you guys, you guys been hitting for me, Like
- 30:41Speaker 3: is this not now, No, I got this, okay, but
- 30:44Speaker 3: you just have this mental approach that you're like, I'm
- 30:47Speaker 3: better than that guy. I'm gonna get them.
- 30:50Speaker 1: You can take a swing each day and bet MGM's
- 30:53Speaker 1: exclusive free to play a swing for the Fence's game
- 30:56Speaker 1: play as the batter and select an area of the
- 30:58Speaker 1: strike zone. If you get a hit, you'll score, which
- 31:00Speaker 1: could include bonus bets, odds, boost tokens, and more. Gambling
- 31:04Speaker 1: problem more concerned called whet hundred gambler guys. Let's talk
- 31:07Speaker 1: a little. JJ Blude former No City Athletic two homers,
- 31:13Speaker 1: six RBI night and the Reds fifteen to one route
- 31:16Speaker 1: of the Nationals Bay has a seven to fifty five
- 31:18Speaker 1: slugging percentage this year in sixty six played appearances. He's
- 31:22Speaker 1: running away with one of the outfield jobs with the
- 31:24Speaker 1: Reds team that actually really needed some outfield offense. We
- 31:27Speaker 1: got some Reds guardians this weekend. What do we think
- 31:30Speaker 1: about mister bludey here?
- 31:34Speaker 2: Well, I mean, listen, those stats are absolutely incredible. I mean,
- 31:39Speaker 2: for if you could start off your first what sixteen
- 31:41Speaker 2: games doing that, I think the stat that pops out
- 31:45Speaker 2: to me he's doing all this, he's got thirteen walks
- 31:49Speaker 2: in sixteen games. I mean, I think, look, he's got
- 31:51Speaker 2: eighteen RBIs, seventeen hits, ten extra base hit, six home runs. Awesome,
- 31:57Speaker 2: and he's walking too. That means every time he's getting
- 31:59Speaker 2: to the plate, when he puts the ball in play,
- 32:01Speaker 2: he's doing damage. And he's laying off the pitches he's
- 32:05Speaker 2: not supposed to swing at. That is every baseball player's dream.
- 32:08Speaker 2: This guy is leaving living out a dream that he
- 32:11Speaker 2: does not want to wake up. And guess what, I
- 32:13Speaker 2: hope he never does, because this is absolutely fantastic. This
- 32:16Speaker 2: is only good things for the Reds. And I think
- 32:18Speaker 2: for him, man, that those are numbers that I wish
- 32:22Speaker 2: I got in a three month span.
- 32:24Speaker 4: I think that would be perfect, right, Cratzy, what.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Three months, man? I mean, let me season's over seasons over.
- 32:33Speaker 3: I'm good. I mean twenty four we thought JJ Bday
- 32:37Speaker 3: was going to be a one of the pieces of
- 32:40Speaker 3: that A's outfield. And you know what, that's the beauty
- 32:44Speaker 3: of the game. The beauty game is sometimes you're legit,
- 32:48Speaker 3: because I mean I think that I think he had
- 32:50Speaker 3: twenty or twenty one homers in twenty four, Like you
- 32:53Speaker 3: heard JJ Blday's name all the time, and you're like, Okay,
- 32:56Speaker 3: maybe he's not that upper echelon guy and struggled a
- 32:59Speaker 3: little bit last year. Maybe you find your footing with
- 33:01Speaker 3: a new team. But who doesn't want to hit in Cincinnati?
- 33:04Speaker 3: Even Todd did good when he was in Cincinnati. Like
- 33:06Speaker 3: that's crazy.
- 33:08Speaker 4: I know.
- 33:10Speaker 3: I love when people say that. People are like, oh,
- 33:15Speaker 3: his numbers were inflated by by playing in that Like
- 33:18Speaker 3: all right, well, at the end of this series, at
- 33:20Speaker 3: the end of these three games, let's see how many
- 33:22Speaker 3: homers you hit, since this is just like a launching pad,
- 33:25Speaker 3: Like you're you're gonna probably leave here with six homers, right, Like, no,
- 33:28Speaker 3: they end up rolling over to third because they think
- 33:31Speaker 3: every ball they put in the air is going to
- 33:33Speaker 3: be a homer.
- 33:34Speaker 2: That's like, that's like playing in Colorado too. You got
- 33:36Speaker 2: a three game series there, better come home with three,
- 33:40Speaker 2: all right?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Some Ale Central News courtesy of John Hayman. Trek Scooble
- 33:45Speaker 1: is already playing catch barely a week out of elbow surgery.
- 33:48Speaker 1: He had that elbow surgery to remove loose bodies about
- 33:51Speaker 1: a week ago. He might beat the initial estimates of
- 33:55Speaker 1: two months out six weeks remains possible. That would be
- 33:58Speaker 1: huge obviously for one of the best arms in the game.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Eric, what you got, I mean, I definitely think that's
- 34:07Speaker 3: I mean, that's hopeful, especially when they went in there
- 34:09Speaker 3: and they said there was no issue with any of
- 34:11Speaker 3: the ligaments. There was nothing like where it broke off
- 34:14Speaker 3: and they had to wait for that to heal. I
- 34:16Speaker 3: had the same similar thing. Fortunately for me, it was
- 34:18Speaker 3: the off season. I was back throwing within two and
- 34:22Speaker 3: a half or three weeks. I forget now. Obviously I'm
- 34:25Speaker 3: not throwing at the speed, the velocity, the the exertion
- 34:31Speaker 3: level as Tarrek Scruball needs to to get back. But
- 34:35Speaker 3: like you start, you just it gets out of there.
- 34:38Speaker 3: For me, I couldn't straighten my arm and I couldn't
- 34:42Speaker 3: bend it the whole way. So I was here and
- 34:45Speaker 3: I was there, and it was just it was just
- 34:47Speaker 3: in the way. When I got it out of there,
- 34:50Speaker 3: you had full range of motion. I had no pain
- 34:52Speaker 3: before and no pain after. So hopefully it's very similar
- 34:55Speaker 3: where there's nothing structurally wrong like they said once they
- 34:59Speaker 3: went in there, and hopefully it's a quick, quick rehab process.
- 35:04Speaker 3: But anytime pitchers don't throw for a little bit. There
- 35:07Speaker 3: is like there's a double, there's a twice. The amount
- 35:10Speaker 3: of time that they don't throw is how long it
- 35:13Speaker 3: takes for them to build back up to be able
- 35:15Speaker 3: to throw on the mound. So it's a long process,
- 35:17Speaker 3: but hopefully it's quicker than.
- 35:18Speaker 2: The two months Crotchy. I've had the same thing Arthur Scott.
- 35:22Speaker 2: But you can't really tell here. But I can't really
- 35:24Speaker 2: even straighten my arm. I'm going the wrong way. So
- 35:27Speaker 2: like you had bone chips, yeah, at all anything you
- 35:30Speaker 2: could think of in there. I had corn chip, bone chips,
- 35:33Speaker 2: ice chips. It didn't matter they got I had three
- 35:35Speaker 2: different Arthur scottic surgeries there and I can't uh yeah, no,
- 35:40Speaker 2: it's bad, but it didn't stop me, you know from throwing. Yeah,
- 35:43Speaker 2: it took a little bit. It was always in the
- 35:45Speaker 2: off season. But yet when you hear anything about an
- 35:47Speaker 2: elbow or an arm for a picture, you get worried
- 35:49Speaker 2: and it could lead to other different things. I'm just
- 35:51Speaker 2: glad he's out there throwing. Hopefully no setbacks and he
- 35:55Speaker 2: can just get his butt on the mound sooner than later.
- 35:58Speaker 2: And you know, pick up this Tigers team because they
- 36:00Speaker 2: need some help. Right now, need their leader back out there.
- 36:03Speaker 2: But yes, it's a good breath of fresh air if
- 36:06Speaker 2: you're a Tigers fan knowing that he's throwing again and
- 36:09Speaker 2: hopefully next day he feels better and feels fine.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Let's talk a little Mets LGM. This is the third
- 36:16Speaker 1: time in Mets history, per our Girl Sarah Langs, that
- 36:19Speaker 1: the Mets have swept a series of three plus games
- 36:22Speaker 1: despite trailing by multiple runs in each game. The you know,
- 36:26Speaker 1: I'm all about letting the kids play. Five homers from
- 36:28Speaker 1: the baby Mets, but the Tigers, we talked about them
- 36:31Speaker 1: not looking so hot in Detroit right now. And ajween,
- 36:34Speaker 1: he's a big Leigger, guys, first homer in his third game,
- 36:37Speaker 1: big exit vlo. Here are we cautiously I don't want
- 36:42Speaker 1: to say believing back in the Mets, but do we
- 36:43Speaker 1: have something to look into to be positive about?
- 36:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, I like this you and kid man,
- 36:50Speaker 2: he's got some spunk, Cratzy.
- 36:52Speaker 4: This guy's got some spunk.
- 36:53Speaker 2: And when they show them his dad and the crowdbo
- 36:56Speaker 2: gets me all fired up. Man, they are so excited
- 36:59Speaker 2: for this guy. He's got great batspeed. Dude, you watch
- 37:03Speaker 2: this guy play. He's fast. He's got energy. The dugout
- 37:07Speaker 2: is getting juiced up watching this. Nothing better than winning.
- 37:12Speaker 2: But when you got a guy come up, put a
- 37:15Speaker 2: little spark into this team. And tell you what, he's
- 37:17Speaker 2: not the biggest statue statue guy.
- 37:20Speaker 4: He's not. He's not the guy that's.
- 37:21Speaker 2: When you walk into the the room you're like, oh,
- 37:23Speaker 2: we got to watch out for him. But he's got spunk,
- 37:26Speaker 2: he's got grit, and I like everything about that. And
- 37:28Speaker 2: I hope they keep him along for the ride because
- 37:31Speaker 2: this is one guy that can help your team turn
- 37:33Speaker 2: things around.
- 37:34Speaker 3: I mean, that's what one of the things that I
- 37:36Speaker 3: always I always use the quote Michael Young said when
- 37:39Speaker 3: he played for the Rangers. The young guys need to
- 37:43Speaker 3: play with energy and play like young guys. Don't try
- 37:45Speaker 3: to be calm, cool and suave. That's for the veterans.
- 37:50Speaker 3: And the veterans need to look at the young guys
- 37:52Speaker 3: and be like, whoo, when I look at that guy,
- 37:54Speaker 3: that's like a shot of shot of espresso for me.
- 37:56Speaker 3: That's like, this guy's giving me energy. So there's a
- 37:59Speaker 3: there's a dynamic of that. Don't be that cool guy
- 38:02Speaker 3: when you're a rookie, Be that guy that Todd just said,
- 38:06Speaker 3: spark plug. They look at you out on the field
- 38:08Speaker 3: and you're like, God, he is that guy on fire. No,
- 38:10Speaker 3: he's just bouncing around, he's stealing bases. He actually hit
- 38:13Speaker 3: a dinger like maybe this soul pump some life into
- 38:17Speaker 3: the veteran guys, maybe a little shot of youth in there.
- 38:21Speaker 3: But do I still think it's enough. No, I don't
- 38:24Speaker 3: think it's enough. I don't think they have enough pitching.
- 38:26Speaker 3: I don't think they have enough guys that are playing
- 38:29Speaker 3: consistent positions. Their outfield defense is a little bit better.
