- 0:23Speaker 1: How's the field, Jags fans? Another victory Monday for the
- 0:25Speaker 1: Jags this season as they get a blowout win over
- 0:28Speaker 1: the Jets yesterday. Welcome to Jags Am. I'm Pennani Stevens
- 0:31Speaker 1: Brand Sexton John Oser with us today. Whole lot to
- 0:34Speaker 1: talk about. After a very big forty eight to twenty
- 0:36Speaker 1: win over the Jets yesterday, Let's get into our big Things,
- 0:38Speaker 1: brought to you by g EHA Government Employees Health Association.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Big Thing number one has to be Trevor Lawrence. Of course,
- 0:45Speaker 1: has a career day yesterday. Throws for five touchdowns, runs
- 0:49Speaker 1: for another one, had of little fifty yards on the
- 0:51Speaker 1: ground as well, just completely putting it all together. Liam
- 0:54Speaker 1: Cohen talked about what he's seen from Trevor the past
- 0:56Speaker 1: couple of weeks.
- 0:58Speaker 2: You could feel it though, like throughout the weeks, the
- 1:01Speaker 2: last few weeks, especially that he's continuously gaining more and
- 1:05Speaker 2: more confidence, continuity in chemistry with the guys that he's
- 1:09Speaker 2: playing with, executing the plan. But also then again, I
- 1:14Speaker 2: mean he had a ditto play I mean from last week,
- 1:17Speaker 2: the rollout to his left across his body, zero blitz,
- 1:21Speaker 2: same exact kind of play that we actually were running
- 1:24Speaker 2: as last week to Tim Patrick. So again, that's him
- 1:28Speaker 2: being special, that's him being a football player and making
- 1:30Speaker 2: a play. So yeah, I would say that he was
- 1:33Speaker 2: one of his better performances that I've seen.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Brian, We've talked the past a couple of weeks. We're like, oh,
- 1:38Speaker 1: is this Trevor's best game? Trevor's best game, completely erasing
- 1:41Speaker 1: all doubt. It was yesterday.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we're listening without a doubt, and we can
- 1:44Speaker 3: assault you with numbers. There are so many statistics about
- 1:48Speaker 3: where he's at. Six touchdowns though a franchise record on
- 1:52Speaker 3: one single game. It's unbelievable. But it felt john like
- 1:57Speaker 3: he was playing with the Jets. You know a guy
- 2:00Speaker 3: that you used to cover, Bill Polly in the Hall
- 2:02Speaker 3: of Fame personnel guy used to talk about phases of
- 2:05Speaker 3: a quarterback, and I don't remember all of them, but
- 2:07Speaker 3: one is where you know, he's just figuring out his
- 2:09Speaker 3: offense and then he's figuring out what the defense does,
- 2:11Speaker 3: and you know, then he's taking what the defense gives him,
- 2:13Speaker 3: and then he's dictating to a defense. And it felt
- 2:16Speaker 3: yesterday like he was in that fourth phase where he
- 2:18Speaker 3: was just directing the entire game from the pocket, poised, disciplined, determined.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Choose your adjective. Here's the number. I will give you.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Twenty nine touchdowns. Only three quarterbacks in the NFL this
- 2:31Speaker 3: season have accounted for more. He's playing great football.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Yeah, Liam come in said the best. He's playing at
- 2:37Speaker 4: a high level.
- 2:38Speaker 5: And Liam has not this year, you know, jumped over
- 2:43Speaker 5: himself to praise Trevor falsely when he was playing bad.
- 2:47Speaker 5: It wasn't like he was trying to build up his
- 2:48Speaker 5: confidence early, you know. So for him to come out
- 2:51Speaker 5: and say he's playing at a high level, to praise
- 2:54Speaker 5: him the way he did in terms of decision making,
- 2:57Speaker 5: it's significant.
- 3:00Speaker 4: For three weeks we've seen.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Him get better and better and better, trust his receivers
- 3:05Speaker 5: more and more. This was already a good, reliable, steady offense,
- 3:12Speaker 5: and in three weeks now it's what nine touchdown passes,
- 3:16Speaker 5: no interceptions. They're going downfield during all this too. This
- 3:20Speaker 5: is not just five yard completions. It's turning into an
- 3:24Speaker 5: explosive offense, and he's turning into a big time quarterback.
- 3:28Speaker 1: One of his most reliable receivers may be a little
- 3:31Speaker 1: bit of a surprise. Our big thing. Number two Traves
- 3:33Speaker 1: y ten junior playing in a contract here. We've seen
- 3:35Speaker 1: what he can do on the ground, but he had
- 3:37Speaker 1: three receiving touchdowns yesterday, which was impressive of the first
- 3:40Speaker 1: we've seen from a Jaguars running back, and travas Etn
- 3:43Speaker 1: talked a little bit about what Liam Cohen's offense does
- 3:46Speaker 1: to allow him to be so successful.
- 3:49Speaker 6: I've been just working in the shadow, which is a practice,
- 3:51Speaker 6: just catching balls and just doing it in practice over
- 3:53Speaker 6: and over again. But as close you got the conference
- 3:56Speaker 6: to go out there and call it, and I feel
- 3:57Speaker 6: like that's a difference. He calls the players, he calls
- 3:59Speaker 6: the plays. He people wants to score a touchdown, and
- 4:01Speaker 6: he gets the bad to play, make his hands and
- 4:02Speaker 6: have he just have confidence in us. I mean he
- 4:05Speaker 6: see day in and day out and him was calling
- 4:06Speaker 6: the player. Give him a chance to go out there
- 4:08Speaker 6: and make those plays. Treelve dollar enough throwing in the man.
- 4:11Speaker 6: I'm just grateful that I want to receive him into
- 4:12Speaker 6: that now.
- 4:14Speaker 1: John will be clear, Travis was very clear at the presser.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He's always had good hands. They just now they're throwing
- 4:18Speaker 1: to him so he can show off a little bit.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Yeah, hands were a little bit of a topic when
- 4:23Speaker 5: he came into the league, meaning people really didn't know
- 4:26Speaker 5: how good he was as a receiver because they didn't
- 4:28Speaker 5: have to use as much of the receiver at Clemson.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Uh. Look, we can talk all.
- 4:33Speaker 5: I it's very obviously if if you watch this team,
- 4:35Speaker 5: how important Travis is on the field.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Uh, what a.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Pleasure he has turned into to watch, to cover, he's
- 4:44Speaker 5: f He's fantastic and entertaining on the podium.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Uh.
- 4:47Speaker 5: I don't know what his future is. Running backs are different. Uh,
- 4:51Speaker 5: but he's turned into a player to me, Brian who
- 4:53Speaker 5: will be remembered by this franchise no matter how long
- 4:56Speaker 5: he's with them as y a A as a really
- 5:00Speaker 5: a fun Jaguar, a really good productive NFL player. I
- 5:06Speaker 5: thoroughly enjoy watching and being around Travis DTN And.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Listen, we've talked since the first day of training camp
- 5:11Speaker 3: about how important he's been and how good he has been.
- 5:14Speaker 3: And I had he and Parker Washington. You know, one
- 5:17Speaker 3: A and one B is the MVP of this team.
- 5:19Speaker 3: That Trevor just took that away in the last couple
- 5:21Speaker 3: of weeks. But travestn the forty five yard screened the
- 5:25Speaker 3: one down the jag sideline. He made a move in
- 5:28Speaker 3: there that and I don't compare many people to Fred Taylor,
- 5:31Speaker 3: but there was a jump cut in about the thirty
- 5:32Speaker 3: four yard line where both feet hit the ground in
- 5:36Speaker 3: front of Azuria Thomas, the cornerback, and as Robert Hainsey
- 5:39Speaker 3: gets Azurie out of the way, he explodes back to
- 5:42Speaker 3: the sideline. Azria maybe got a hand on him, maybe
- 5:45Speaker 3: touched his hip, you can't quite tell, and he exploded
- 5:48Speaker 3: went off. It reminded me of Fred's thirty eight yard
- 5:50Speaker 3: touchdown in the sixty two to seven went over the Dolphins,
- 5:53Speaker 3: where he made guys miss and then just ran by
- 5:56Speaker 3: them all. It was a breath taking play that showed
- 5:59Speaker 3: you what he's really capable of. John. I don't know
- 6:02Speaker 3: what's happening with him either. They drafted to running backs
- 6:05Speaker 3: this year. Generally, with your cap you let running backs go.
- 6:09Speaker 3: I don't know if you can do that. I think
- 6:11Speaker 3: maybe he's making a case that at least the franchise
- 6:13Speaker 3: tag has to be considered to keep him around for
- 6:15Speaker 3: another year. He is this team's, outside of Trevor, most
- 6:18Speaker 3: important offensive player.
- 6:20Speaker 5: I think that's a key thing with Travis is I
- 6:25Speaker 5: can remember in twenty two, his first year playing, he
- 6:28Speaker 5: had some runs that he sort of pounded the ball
- 6:30Speaker 5: on the ground afterwards and said, I should have finished that.
- 6:33Speaker 5: He's grown so much and becomes such a smarter runner,
- 6:37Speaker 5: smarter player.
- 6:38Speaker 4: He's now a guy when you get him the ball.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Sometimes with backs, you get in the ball and you
- 6:42Speaker 5: know if you get into him five times, they're going
- 6:45Speaker 5: to get the most out of the play three times.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Travis gets the most out of the play at such
- 6:50Speaker 5: a high level and creates touchdowns where maybe they weren't
- 6:54Speaker 5: going to be there.
- 6:56Speaker 4: He's special.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Absolutely, I have no idea what this team looks like
- 6:59Speaker 1: this year without him. He played such a crucial role
- 7:01Speaker 1: in speci s many games that I've seen so far
- 7:04Speaker 1: this year. So for me, very important on offense. Our
- 7:06Speaker 1: final big thing today is gonna be ten because they've
- 7:09Speaker 1: reached ten wins. This team is ten and four, first
- 7:11Speaker 1: time since twenty seventeen that they reached that ten win.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Mark and Trevor Lawrence talked a little bit about playing
- 7:17Speaker 1: with confidence and why he feels so good in this offense.
- 7:21Speaker 7: I think it's it's easier to do the more comfortable
- 7:24Speaker 7: and confident you are in in the system and just
- 7:27Speaker 7: trusting what you see and I think you're seeing that
- 7:29Speaker 7: more and more last few weeks, and just playing fast.
- 7:31Speaker 7: And that's always that you talk about the second play,
- 7:34Speaker 7: Like the first play doesn't always go great, but that
- 7:37Speaker 7: extending the play and the second play you can still win.
- 7:40Speaker 7: And we've had a lot of a great examples of
- 7:42Speaker 7: that the last few weeks, and guys continuing to work
- 7:44Speaker 7: and get.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Open and you know, scramble, drill, there's a lot of.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That, Brian, we talked a ton about the defense, rightfully,
- 7:51Speaker 1: so that Chargers game they were dominant, but the past
- 7:54Speaker 1: couple of weeks in the offense they scored touchdown in
- 7:56Speaker 1: the first three drives this week with Trevor clicking on
- 7:59Speaker 1: all cylinders. But what'sn't mean the significance to getting to
- 8:01Speaker 1: ten wins, Well, you.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Know, listen, it's only the second time since two thousand
- 8:05Speaker 3: and seven they've done it, So it's very significant for
- 8:07Speaker 3: Jaguars fans to see their team in that strong position.
- 8:11Speaker 3: It's meaningful. However, John, I think they might need to
- 8:13Speaker 3: get to thirteen to win the division. I mean, that's
- 8:16Speaker 3: the position they're in right now. Because the Jaguars have
- 8:18Speaker 3: won five in a row. The Texans are right on
- 8:20Speaker 3: their heel. They've won six in a row. And when
- 8:23Speaker 3: they look at the two teams, if they have identical
- 8:25Speaker 3: records at the end of the year, I think you
- 8:27Speaker 3: get to the fifth or sixth tiebreaker and I think
- 8:29Speaker 3: Houston wins it. So the pressure is on for this
- 8:31Speaker 3: team to win thirteen games, or at least one more
- 8:36Speaker 3: than the Houston Texans. And the Texans this week as
- 8:38Speaker 3: the Jaguars go to Denver and play the best team
- 8:40Speaker 3: in the AFC in one of the most difficult environments
- 8:43Speaker 3: in pro football, the Texans get the Raiders at home.
- 8:47Speaker 3: So this is there's a lot of pressure and by
- 8:49Speaker 3: the way, I love it, and I think Liam Cohen
- 8:50Speaker 3: does too.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's for clarification.
- 8:53Speaker 5: My understanding is if the Texans went out and the
- 8:57Speaker 5: Jaguars lose to Denver, then Texans do in the division.
- 9:01Speaker 5: But the way to fix that is not to lose.
- 9:05Speaker 5: And I think this is what this team is thinking about.
- 9:08Speaker 5: As far as ten wins, Kuy, it's a big deal
- 9:12Speaker 5: because this team now has a chance to win eleven, twelve,
- 9:15Speaker 5: thirteen games, and guess what twelve is more than ten.
- 9:18Speaker 5: I didn't know this year if they could get into
- 9:22Speaker 5: the couple of wins over double digits, I thought maybe ten.
- 9:26Speaker 5: When you get to twelve, when you get to eleven,
- 9:28Speaker 5: which this team has a chance to do.
- 9:30Speaker 4: You're really really good.
- 9:32Speaker 5: And I think more than anything with this team, they've
- 9:36Speaker 5: now shown fans this is what it's gonna be. This
- 9:39Speaker 5: is gonna be the standard at Liam Cohen. And they've
- 9:41Speaker 5: gotten there so much quicker than I thought they would.
- 9:43Speaker 5: It's been a really impressive thing to watch, particularly the
- 9:46Speaker 5: last six weeks.
- 9:46Speaker 3: And when you consider that the ninety nine team is
- 9:49Speaker 3: the one with the most regular season wins, they have fourteen.
- 9:52Speaker 3: At two thousand and five they had twelve track wards
- 9:55Speaker 3: have an opportunity to squeeze themselves up there with this team. Then,
- 9:58Speaker 3: of course you defined by the postseason to put their
- 10:01Speaker 3: name stamping in jag Warts history in Liam Cohen's first year.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Why was that impressive? I don't think anybody could have
- 10:07Speaker 3: expected it.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I don't think so. Some elite company, for sure. Stay
- 10:10Speaker 1: with us here on jagsam a whole lot of highlights
- 10:12Speaker 1: to go over when we come back after the break.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Jack's fans, do you want to customize Jaguars furniture for
- 10:22Speaker 1: your home. Check out zip chare dot com to arouse
- 10:24Speaker 1: all the customizable options. Zip chair is furniture for fans.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Nah, not at all.
- 10:29Speaker 6: I don't think I ever seen Trevor like this, uh,
- 10:32Speaker 6: you know, and I feel like we want to we
- 10:34Speaker 6: want to National Championship together, and I feel like, uh,
- 10:38Speaker 6: he's just out there, he's on fire, man, like you've
- 10:40Speaker 6: seen it. He rolled out again and he just kind
- 10:43Speaker 6: of stopped and just parks down there somewhere, you know,
- 10:45Speaker 6: and uh, he launched it and Parking made a great catch.
- 10:48Speaker 6: So man, I'm just greatful that I'm on his team.
- 10:50Speaker 4: And the groote that I.
- 10:51Speaker 6: Seen through him from him, man, just unbelievable when it
- 10:54Speaker 6: forces everybody else step over that game as well.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I thepnos Trevor best at this point. I mean, they're
- 10:59Speaker 1: playing the other almost a decade, but says he's never
- 11:02Speaker 1: seen him play better, including when they were playing for
- 11:04Speaker 1: National Championship.
- 11:04Speaker 3: You know, it's amazing. We lose patients so quickly in
- 11:07Speaker 3: this league with players that we decide guy can play,
- 11:09Speaker 3: a guy can't play, and we don't give them the
- 11:12Speaker 3: time anymore to develop, and then that's not my set.
- 11:15Speaker 3: But Kevin O'Connell, the coach of the Viking, said, you know,
- 11:17Speaker 3: we used to teach quarterbacks to play just like we
- 11:19Speaker 3: used to teach kids to swim. Now we expect them
- 11:20Speaker 3: to jump in the lane next to Michael Phelps and win.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I mean that's it's a very high level of performance
- 11:26Speaker 3: and some guys just need a little bit more time.
- 11:30Speaker 3: If he is where he was always going to get to,
- 11:33Speaker 3: it was worth waiting for.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and a son of it too.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Credit this franchise this year for working very hard throughout
- 11:42Speaker 5: the year to put the situation correct around him. I've
- 11:47Speaker 5: emphasized the last few weeks they have rebuilt and reshaped
- 11:51Speaker 5: their receiving corps on the flot Parker Washington, all of
- 11:55Speaker 5: a sudden.
- 11:55Speaker 4: A huge part of it barely played in the open.
- 11:59Speaker 5: Jacoby Myers here, now, Tim Patrick here, now, Britain strange
- 12:02Speaker 5: more involved. You know, he clearly trusts what's going on
- 12:08Speaker 5: around him, and I don't think he can underestimate that.
- 12:10Speaker 3: With Trevor and listen, Liam Cohen is going to point
- 12:12Speaker 3: to the player, but I think all of us would
- 12:14Speaker 3: say that he is being coached harder than perhaps we
- 12:17Speaker 3: have ever seen him be coached, and the result of
- 12:20Speaker 3: the coach and the quarterback together has created this ten
- 12:23Speaker 3: and four run and this opportunity into the playoffs. It's
- 12:25Speaker 3: been fun.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Letter better rip.
- 12:28Speaker 1: All right, let's start with Trevor Letting at ripped to
- 12:30Speaker 1: BTJ early. We talked a lot about what BTJ brought
- 12:33Speaker 1: to the past game last week. Saw it very early
- 12:36Speaker 1: in this game again because he just opens up the
- 12:38Speaker 1: field and then just I think what is great about
- 12:42Speaker 1: him getting involved now is the confidence is back. You
- 12:45Speaker 1: can see it the way he's reacting and this throw
- 12:48Speaker 1: to me, I was like, how howful.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Did he get this?
- 12:52Speaker 1: I was like, there's a couple in this game where
- 12:54Speaker 1: you're just like, that's just stupid, Like I don't even
- 12:55Speaker 1: know how that worked.
- 12:57Speaker 5: He does a great job at ripping situation, and clearly
- 13:00Speaker 5: I was a situation they repped red zone.
- 13:03Speaker 4: They knew that play was going to be there.
- 13:04Speaker 5: But look, the Jets aren't very good, but the throws
- 13:09Speaker 5: Trevor was making yesterday their NFL players right, and the
- 13:16Speaker 5: defense was fine.
- 13:16Speaker 4: On this play, he made a.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Big time read, big time throw and it was a
- 13:21Speaker 5: confidence throw without question.
- 13:22Speaker 3: And VTJ had two others. There was one that was
- 13:24Speaker 3: just outside his fingertips and the other ends of just
- 13:27Speaker 3: he almost got there. And then there was the one
- 13:30Speaker 3: down the field that would have been another thirty nine
- 13:32Speaker 3: yard plus that he stumbled that he got caught up
- 13:34Speaker 3: with the defensive back. I mean, he was on the
- 13:37Speaker 3: verge of a massive day and just missed it by inches.
- 13:40Speaker 3: But three receptions of over thirty yards in the last
- 13:43Speaker 3: three weeks a really good sign for where this offense
- 13:45Speaker 3: is happened.
- 13:46Speaker 5: I think about what you're saying with Trevor too. I
- 13:49Speaker 5: forget his numbers in terms of completions, but there were
- 13:52Speaker 5: three or four balls that he threw really well that
- 13:56Speaker 5: just happened to not be caught. And I'd even call
- 13:57Speaker 5: him dross, but whatever might be doingj so his accuracy
- 14:02Speaker 5: is also dramatically improving.
- 14:04Speaker 4: I think that also is because he trusted receivers.
- 14:06Speaker 3: What we're going to show it, I'm sure, yes we are.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Let's do one brief defensive play because the most of
- 14:11Speaker 1: this is offense, but just the getting the ball back
- 14:14Speaker 1: as quickly as they did early in the game as well.
- 14:16Speaker 4: That's a big poot.
- 14:17Speaker 1: This was I mean, Trayvon every week, I feel like
- 14:20Speaker 1: the past two three weeks has been doing it and
- 14:23Speaker 1: it's just for him to get I think it was
- 14:25Speaker 1: a six yard loss, is what it ended up being
- 14:28Speaker 1: because of how quickly he got back there. And yes,
- 14:30Speaker 1: some of this is on the Jets. You should probably
- 14:32Speaker 1: block that guy. But Trayvon's physicality has come back, and
- 14:36Speaker 1: just his ability to make the play about him and
- 14:40Speaker 1: getting there and making that fully about it.
- 14:42Speaker 3: You're talking about a guy with a brace on his
- 14:44Speaker 3: left hand and a brace on his left knee exploding
- 14:47Speaker 3: to his left to make a play. We've been saying
- 14:50Speaker 3: it for a couple of years. The guy's physically freakishally
- 14:54Speaker 3: strong and athletic and powerful, and he is doing it
- 14:58Speaker 3: playing at less than one hundred percent. And that was
- 15:00Speaker 3: a huge play because when they went up fourteen nothing,
- 15:03Speaker 3: you could just feel this thing was going to go
- 15:05Speaker 3: the way that it did.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Mike Tom called him wrecking ball a couple of years ago,
- 15:09Speaker 5: and that's what Trayvon is.
- 15:11Speaker 4: He He wrecks plays.
- 15:15Speaker 5: Force of will and physical ability and smart player as well.
- 15:20Speaker 4: He's really really good.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Happy to have him on our team. Let's do a
- 15:24Speaker 1: little more, Trevor, because why not. How about the scrambled
- 15:26Speaker 1: touchdown again, What if you didn't already feel like things
- 15:30Speaker 1: were going well, everything fell apart and then this is
- 15:34Speaker 1: just very much reminiscent on Monday Night when you're like, oh, yeah,
- 15:37Speaker 1: well now he's going to score, of course, and it's
- 15:39Speaker 1: going your way.
- 15:39Speaker 4: It's going your way. Yeah, but I think there was
- 15:45Speaker 4: some luck involved. Sure we would play like that.
- 15:48Speaker 5: At the same time, he is playing and seeing things
- 15:53Speaker 5: at a very high level and as he mentioned the
- 15:55Speaker 5: offensive lines, playing really well.
- 16:00Speaker 4: He opened on this play.
- 16:02Speaker 5: The production broke down a little bit, but not so
- 16:05Speaker 5: much that he couldn't function, and credit to him for
- 16:08Speaker 5: having the vision to get it done.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Sixth rushing touchdown of the year for him.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Amazing, absolutely love it.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And then off the top we heard both Traves YTN
- 16:17Speaker 1: and Coach Cohen talking about this play. I just called
- 16:21Speaker 1: him dumb plays where you're like this, it's just stupid.
- 16:23Speaker 1: It shouldn't work, it should be a dumb decision, but
- 16:27Speaker 1: it works and you're like how, like how? And he
- 16:30Speaker 1: had one last week against Tim Patrick. Tim Patrick caught
- 16:34Speaker 1: the ball.
- 16:35Speaker 4: But it's absurd, John Well, it's absurd at the same.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Time unless you're good, and then it's great.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Preparation, you know, luck, whatever it is.
- 16:45Speaker 5: He saw the blitz coming and had the ability and
- 16:51Speaker 5: again I think some of this is had the trust
- 16:53Speaker 5: in Parker to know, if I get it out there,
- 16:57Speaker 5: he's got a chance to be there.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Now. That play probably will works to you know, twenty
- 17:01Speaker 4: percent of times to do it. But it was a
- 17:04Speaker 4: low risk play, right.
- 17:06Speaker 5: He didn't put himself in a bad situation and basically
- 17:09Speaker 5: gave himself a chance to make that play.
- 17:11Speaker 4: And when it's going well, that kind of play work well.
- 17:13Speaker 3: And let's not discount that he's healthy in December for
- 17:15Speaker 3: the first time in a couple of years, like that
- 17:17Speaker 3: touchdown run that we just saw where he was able
- 17:19Speaker 3: to avoid Will McDonald and then outrun him and explode
- 17:22Speaker 3: to the pylon. Last year, the year before, at this
- 17:26Speaker 3: point of the season, hidm't healthy enough to throw off
- 17:29Speaker 3: balance and put the ball where he put it. He
- 17:31Speaker 3: probably puts it up and it gets intercepted. But because
- 17:34Speaker 3: he's healthy and because he's powerful right now, that would
- 17:37Speaker 3: and that's a tough throw to make, and to put
- 17:39Speaker 3: it in a spot where only Parker can get it,
- 17:41Speaker 3: and of course Parker would go get it, because that's
- 17:43Speaker 3: the player he's become this year. Having a healthy quarterback
- 17:46Speaker 3: is really important in December.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Let's take a look at some of these Trevor to
- 17:50Speaker 1: Traves YTN touchdowns because there are a couple of them,
- 17:52Speaker 1: so when we talk about this combination, they've obviously played
- 17:56Speaker 1: with each other for a long time and they know
- 17:59Speaker 1: each other well. But Travestan's role in the offense has
- 18:02Speaker 1: been impressive to me. These aren't just little. I mean, yes,
- 18:05Speaker 1: there was a screen touchdown pass, but he's going out
- 18:07Speaker 1: and getting it.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Bryan Listen, I just marveled. This was the guy who
- 18:11Speaker 3: lost the ball on the goal line last year in
- 18:13Speaker 3: Miami and struggled all season, and yet now he's making
- 18:16Speaker 3: plays like this. Watch this joke cut right there. I mean,
- 18:19Speaker 3: he is so confident on the football field. What a
- 18:22Speaker 3: reclamation story this season is for him and Trevor's MVP.
- 18:28Speaker 3: But man, he's warn't b because he is the guy
- 18:30Speaker 3: that Trevor counts on the most.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think Travis would tell you probably not
- 18:34Speaker 5: a run he makes as a rookie.
- 18:36Speaker 4: And always emphasize this because he's talked about.
- 18:38Speaker 5: A summit how much better a runner he is and
- 18:41Speaker 5: how he had to change his game when he got
- 18:44Speaker 5: in the NFL, because in college he said it a lot,
- 18:47Speaker 5: everything was easy.
- 18:48Speaker 4: He just outran guys and scored.
- 18:51Speaker 5: So he now uses blockers better, he uses vision better,
- 18:55Speaker 5: he uses his moves better.
- 18:57Speaker 4: I said it over and over again this show.
- 19:00Speaker 5: He some guys he cover and you don't realize until
- 19:04Speaker 5: late in the time you're covering.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I really like watching this guy play.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You know.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Tim Patrick told me in the locker room last week
- 19:09Speaker 3: that when you're blocking for Travis etn you never quit.
- 19:13Speaker 3: And you see him in that play down the field
- 19:15Speaker 3: with Ezra Cleveland just driving the safety off the ball.
- 19:19Speaker 3: He could have said it once, he said it three times.
- 19:21Speaker 3: It's a want too thing, and the receivers here want to.
- 19:24Speaker 3: He doesn't have the chance to get to the sideline
- 19:27Speaker 3: without anybody coming near him if you don't have Ezra
- 19:30Speaker 3: Cleveland and Tim Patrick running down the field and moving
- 19:33Speaker 3: guys out of the way. It was a whole team effort.
- 19:35Speaker 4: That's been a story on a lot of long runs
- 19:36Speaker 4: this year.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And it's the buying on every play too, And that's
- 19:39Speaker 1: late in the game against it in a team where
- 19:41Speaker 1: you're winning in a blowout and to still see that
- 19:43Speaker 1: buying and want to set up your teammates is really
- 19:46Speaker 1: cool to see the time of the season. Stay Louis,
- 19:48Speaker 1: we have some hot takes for you coming up after
- 19:50Speaker 1: the break on Jaxam Guy Zam, brought to you by
- 19:56Speaker 1: Firehouse Subs. Today specifically are hot takes.
- 20:01Speaker 8: That's a lot of fun. You you look around, everybody's
- 20:03Speaker 8: always flying around smiling. That's one of the things that
- 20:05Speaker 8: you really want to see amongst players on the field
- 20:08Speaker 8: is having fun like you and your natural habitat with
- 20:10Speaker 8: just out there playing ball, having fun like with little kids.
- 20:14Speaker 1: We're all having fun right now. Tana wins for this team.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Feels good seventy something degrees and summary yesterday, it's a
- 20:20Speaker 1: beautiful day to be out there.
- 20:21Speaker 3: So let me turn it down a little bit. Oh no,
- 20:24Speaker 3: just slightly. It's too easy to point out everything that's
- 20:27Speaker 3: good when there's that much good. But there were a
- 20:28Speaker 3: couple of plays yesterday where I thought the Jaguars could
- 20:32Speaker 3: be better, and that's my hot take. They can be better.
- 20:34Speaker 3: They have to be better because you're going to the
- 20:36Speaker 3: number one team in the AFC and what I think
- 20:38Speaker 3: is the most difficult place to play in December in
- 20:42Speaker 3: the NFL, and you can't have the mental mistakes. And
- 20:45Speaker 3: Liam Cohen talked about his theme last week was you know,
- 20:48Speaker 3: being mature and preparing, well, you got to be mature
- 20:52Speaker 3: on the field as well. And Greg Newsom that was
- 20:54Speaker 3: a stupid penalty on the sideline over there. He was
- 20:58Speaker 3: standing on the boundary at and got into it with
- 21:01Speaker 3: the receiver Brian Thomas Junior on the goal line. And
- 21:04Speaker 3: then Mason Smith just wouldn't stop when he was out there,
- 21:07Speaker 3: and you think, wow, okay, those are three penalties forty
- 21:09Speaker 3: five yards. But Greg Newsom's result in a field goal
- 21:14Speaker 3: and Mason Smith's resulted in a touchdown for the Jets.
- 21:17Speaker 3: And Brian Thomas Junior took the Jags away from third
- 21:20Speaker 3: in less than a yard at the five yard line
- 21:22Speaker 3: and made a third and seventeen and they ended up
- 21:23Speaker 3: settling for a field goal. So it's a net fourteen
- 21:26Speaker 3: points that you essentially handed to the New York Jets.
- 21:30Speaker 3: You can't have those kinds of mental mistakes. This team
- 21:33Speaker 3: has taking a big step forward, but you know, it's
- 21:36Speaker 3: kind of like your golf game, John, when you go
- 21:38Speaker 3: from shooting one twenty to one hundred. A couple of
- 21:41Speaker 3: lessons and you get to that point, Okay, you figure
- 21:43Speaker 3: some things out, but if you want to go from
- 21:45Speaker 3: one hundred and ninety, so from okay to good Man,
- 21:48Speaker 3: you got to dial in on the little things and
- 21:50Speaker 3: those fifteen yard penalties they're easily avoidable by controlling your
- 21:54Speaker 3: emotions have got to be a part of it from
- 21:56Speaker 3: this point going forward. And I'm sure that's a conversation
- 21:58Speaker 3: point the head coach will with those guys and his
- 22:01Speaker 3: team this week.
- 22:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Denver will be one or lost on situations, and
- 22:05Speaker 5: if you give away fifteen yards in those situations, it's
- 22:09Speaker 5: gonna result in points like that, and fourteen points on
- 22:12Speaker 5: Sunday this Sunday will be the difference.
- 22:14Speaker 4: In the game. Absolutely, what's your hot take for it?
- 22:17Speaker 5: I went with a good team, good quarterback, with great opportunity,
- 22:20Speaker 5: and look, I don't know if the Jaguars will win
- 22:25Speaker 5: the AFC or the Super Bowl. I know from watching
- 22:28Speaker 5: them in the last couple of weeks they can And
- 22:30Speaker 5: I don't know if I'd have been saying that five
- 22:31Speaker 5: weeks ago, but it's a team that if Trevor is
- 22:38Speaker 5: playing this way and if what we're seeing is real,
- 22:41Speaker 5: and I have no reason to believe it's not after
- 22:42Speaker 5: three weeks. This team can get there if it stays healthy.
- 22:49Speaker 4: It's got to win in big situations.
- 22:50Speaker 5: Right, It's not gonna be easy, but absolutely they're one
- 22:54Speaker 5: of the teams in the AFC.
- 22:55Speaker 4: They can win it.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Petter McCardell in nineteen ninety six, why not us? That
- 23:00Speaker 3: way watching this quarterback? Why not us? And they went
- 23:03Speaker 3: on a run got to the AFC Championship game in
- 23:05Speaker 3: their second season because they were playing good kai and
- 23:08Speaker 3: they believed in one another. And in that locker room
- 23:11Speaker 3: yesterday and on those sidelines, you saw a team that
- 23:14Speaker 3: is really good with a good quarterback, but they believe
- 23:16Speaker 3: in one another. They're together. Liam Cohen has do an
- 23:19Speaker 3: amazing job of getting this locker room to a spot
- 23:23Speaker 3: where they can go and make a run at this thing.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Whether they do or they know, that's determined on the field,
- 23:27Speaker 3: but it's hard not to argue that they can do
- 23:29Speaker 3: it based on what we see.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I know these next couple of weeks are going to
- 23:32Speaker 1: be fun, that is absolutely for sure. I'm looking a
- 23:35Speaker 1: little forward thinking just a little bit because of the
- 23:37Speaker 1: game that I saw yesterday from Travistn for me etn
- 23:41Speaker 1: is my top off season priority. I'm not Tony Bisselia,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I'm not James Gladstone, but I can see what his
- 23:47Speaker 1: role in this team has been this past year is
- 23:50Speaker 1: everything they want When they say this is what we
- 23:52Speaker 1: wanted Jaguar to be coming in, I don't think anybody
- 23:56Speaker 1: expected Travisten. He was floated to be traded out. We've
- 23:59Speaker 1: seen a lot of players from the past regimes head
- 24:01Speaker 1: out of town, and he bought into this program. He's
- 24:05Speaker 1: bought into every single part of Liam Cohen's offense. And
- 24:08Speaker 1: early on in the season, when it was all the
- 24:09Speaker 1: run game they really couldn't get the pass game going,
- 24:12Speaker 1: that was Traves Ytn. That was winning those football games
- 24:14Speaker 1: for you. Then yesterday you see another part of his
- 24:15Speaker 1: game where he has three receiving touchdowns and he's showing
- 24:19Speaker 1: his versatility and what he can do in this offense.
- 24:21Speaker 1: And for me, we talk about his growth. John, You're
- 24:24Speaker 1: talking about what he looked like before, what he looks
- 24:26Speaker 1: like now. You say, oh, we can just draft a
- 24:28Speaker 1: running back and he can kind of plug him in
- 24:30Speaker 1: that role. He's proving that you can't just do that
- 24:32Speaker 1: necessarily with a rookie guy. It takes some years to
- 24:35Speaker 1: get to that point. And yes, I know he's a
- 24:37Speaker 1: running back, and yes, I know it's kind of weird,
- 24:39Speaker 1: But for me, that has to be a priority when
- 24:41Speaker 1: you are building a core of a team that we
- 24:43Speaker 1: have seen get to a point where maybe we thought
- 24:45Speaker 1: it would be a soft rebuild, certainly not. They've already
- 24:47Speaker 1: got ten wins. You're at a point where you're trying
- 24:49Speaker 1: to compete. That's someone I want to keep on my roster.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I would have assumed at the start of the
- 24:53Speaker 5: season that he wouldn't be back next year. I don't
- 24:57Speaker 5: know if he'll be back next year because for me,
- 25:00Speaker 5: any of the points you made. Running back negotiations are
- 25:03Speaker 5: difficult and they're not as cut and dry as others.
- 25:06Speaker 4: But I think what you said is best.
- 25:10Speaker 5: It's got to be something that they work hard to
- 25:12Speaker 5: figure out. Whether they can get there, I don't know,
- 25:14Speaker 5: but I think it's much more of a priority than
- 25:17Speaker 5: they believed it would be six months ago.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Well, listen, you both said that it's weird, and it is.
- 25:22Speaker 3: The running back market is strange because teams draft their
- 25:24Speaker 3: own and they don't overpay for that. So if Travis
- 25:27Speaker 3: is willing to accept a fair number and not a
- 25:30Speaker 3: market busting number. But all it takes is one team
- 25:34Speaker 3: to come in and say, we love him, he fits us,
- 25:37Speaker 3: We're going to give that kind of a deal. Because
- 25:39Speaker 3: remember now the Jaguars, they want to keep Jacoby Myers
- 25:42Speaker 3: for sure, right and Brenton Strange is coming up for
- 25:44Speaker 3: a deal at some point, and I don't know what
- 25:46Speaker 3: they're going to do with Devin Lloyd. And you've got
- 25:49Speaker 3: Trayvon Walker playing on the fifth year option and you
- 25:51Speaker 3: kind of following it, and you want to keep Cole
- 25:52Speaker 3: Van Landin, I mean, Parker Washington, I mean's so the
- 25:55Speaker 3: number has to fit what the Jaguars think about their
- 25:59Speaker 3: entire roster. It can't just be that emotional. We love him,
- 26:01Speaker 3: we want him. Everybody wants this guy today, everybody wants
- 26:05Speaker 3: to keep him because of the kind of person and
- 26:06Speaker 3: player he is. But it's got to fit a very
- 26:09Speaker 3: specific puzzle on the board.
- 26:11Speaker 4: You know what, as did what? I tagged? You tagged
- 26:15Speaker 4: you're it? It might tag oh, well, good point, I hope.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Oh yeah, whatever that number is. I'm not advocating not
- 26:23Speaker 3: getting him, but maybe you've got to find that tag too.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Running back numbers are not terrible usually, so hopefully they
- 26:28Speaker 1: could make that work, give themself a little more time.
- 26:30Speaker 4: They could play its way a new real possibility.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Take the can down the road. Good point of view.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Come back after the break. Will tell you what's going
- 26:35Speaker 1: on the rest of the week. Jag Vam brought to
- 26:44Speaker 1: you by Publics. On Tuesday, December sixteenth, that's tomorrow, from
- 26:47Speaker 1: five to six, visit the publics at the shops at
- 26:49Speaker 1: Marabella and Saint Augustine. You get to meet Lea Quinn
- 26:51Speaker 1: Allen Junior, Bachel Tooton, and Quin Morris of the Jaguars Jacksonville.
- 26:55Speaker 1: The war members will be there as well. That's Public's
- 26:57Speaker 1: at eighty four TUSK in Wayne, Saint Augustine Publics. We're
- 27:00Speaker 1: shopping is a pleasure.
- 27:02Speaker 9: Six total touchdowns TJ three receiving touchdowns.
- 27:24Speaker 10: Three interceptions on defense. We asked you to come out
- 27:34Speaker 10: and take care of business. I ask you to do
- 27:37Speaker 10: that every.
- 27:38Speaker 9: Time we may we can't.
- 27:40Speaker 7: We have to side with this group.
- 27:42Speaker 10: Every single time. You guys continue to elevate and raise
- 27:46Speaker 10: the standard.
- 27:50Speaker 1: It's such a good offensive game. I forgot its three interceptions.
- 27:53Speaker 3: In this game. Yeah, they've got eighteen on the season,
- 27:55Speaker 3: which is second early Chicago Bears, and they've got twenty
- 27:57Speaker 3: six takeaways, so they're still on track to be one
- 27:59Speaker 3: of four teams in Jaguars history with at least thirty
- 28:02Speaker 3: takeaways and all of those have been good playoff teams.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Yeah, solid defense, and it's a team right now that
- 28:09Speaker 5: has something different playing well each wenn or is something
- 28:12Speaker 5: different standing out.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Everybody's playing well right now. So five wins in a
- 28:17Speaker 4: round December.
- 28:17Speaker 3: I think, three straight games with at least three sacks,
- 28:19Speaker 3: so at least the pressure is starting to get home
- 28:21Speaker 3: after a couple of weeks. Remember that Houston game, there
- 28:23Speaker 3: was no pressure on Davis Mills and since that moment,
- 28:26Speaker 3: they've gotten that pressure ratcheted back up.
- 28:28Speaker 1: And everybody's getting healthy too, which we love to see.
- 28:30Speaker 1: No major injuries, so that's something that we can I know,
- 28:33Speaker 1: we love it. Stay focused with us this week. I
- 28:36Speaker 1: mean there's a huge game coming up. Obviously, we're taking
- 28:38Speaker 1: on Denver on Sunday, so we'll be talking a ton
- 28:40Speaker 1: about that on Wednesday and Thursday here on jag XAM.
- 28:43Speaker 1: So until then, enjoy victory Monday. We'll see you back
- 28:46Speaker 1: here in ja Exam on Wednesday
