- 0:36Speaker 2: But you're a guest to my home. You gotta come
- 0:41Speaker 2: to me empty And I said, no, guests, your presences
- 0:48Speaker 2: presents enough. I already had too much stuff, So how
- 0:54Speaker 2: do you dare.
- 0:55Speaker 3: To surbey me?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm Bridger Wineger. We're
- 1:12Speaker 1: here in the backyard. We're here in Patreon world. You've
- 1:16Speaker 1: made it over the paywall as usual. What's going on
- 1:20Speaker 1: my life? I was gone for four days. I was
- 1:22Speaker 1: in Utah. And the way things are falling apart, the
- 1:25Speaker 1: way I'm falling behind, it's unreal. And what do I mean?
- 1:30Speaker 1: What do I have to do? I have to watch
- 1:32Speaker 1: the Little House on the Prairie. No one even expects
- 1:34Speaker 1: me to do that, but it feels like I'm unraveling quickly.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So that's kind of where I am. I what else
- 1:43Speaker 1: is going on? Almost nothing. I had a lot of
- 1:45Speaker 1: garlic last night, and I think that kind of brings
- 1:51Speaker 1: us to today, which is exciting. I truly just adore
- 1:55Speaker 1: today's guest. She's incredible. It's Katie Fisher.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Thank you so much for having me Bridger, Katie.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I mean, I couldn't think. There's a very short list
- 2:04Speaker 1: of people I would rather. I mean that I've what
- 2:07Speaker 1: am I trying to say here? You're in a short
- 2:09Speaker 1: list of people that are like top priority.
- 2:12Speaker 3: To be on this Come come on, you've stopped it.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I've you're somebody, and I feel like you must have
- 2:17Speaker 1: this experience with a lot of people where it just
- 2:20Speaker 1: feels like I think we've known each other for maybe
- 2:22Speaker 1: a year and a half, right, yeah, but it feels
- 2:24Speaker 1: like you've just always been in my life.
- 2:26Speaker 3: That is so kind, and I feel exactly the same
- 2:28Speaker 3: way about you. I felt, you know, I felt like
- 2:32Speaker 3: a little well you know, I think you give off
- 2:35Speaker 3: a vibe I would have picked up if this was
- 2:37Speaker 3: not the correct interpretation of our relationship. But the moment
- 2:41Speaker 3: we met, I was like, Okay, I really like this person.
- 2:44Speaker 3: And then every time I would see you at a party,
- 2:46Speaker 3: which is like I feel like when we're most often
- 2:48Speaker 3: getting into each other some sort of birthday thing, I
- 2:52Speaker 3: immediately be lying to.
- 2:53Speaker 1: You, Oh, you're such a safe harbor at a party.
- 2:56Speaker 3: That is exactly how I feel, because I think we're
- 2:59Speaker 3: the same in the sense that, well, you seem no
- 3:03Speaker 3: offense overwhelmed parties.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I think that's an enormous understanding. I'm like, I walk
- 3:10Speaker 1: in the door and I'm like, already you turning back
- 3:12Speaker 1: to my car. I've had enough, you know.
- 3:14Speaker 3: And I guess now that I think about most times
- 3:16Speaker 3: that we've talked at parties, it's you have your book
- 3:19Speaker 3: bag and you're out, you are actively leaving, and then
- 3:23Speaker 3: I sort of grab you from the debts and I
- 3:26Speaker 3: pull you back into the vortex because I want to
- 3:29Speaker 3: leave but I can yet, And then I make you
- 3:32Speaker 3: talk to me for twenty minutes.
- 3:33Speaker 1: You're kind of a cheat at parties for me then
- 3:35Speaker 1: to extend it's like a free life or I'm like,
- 3:38Speaker 1: here's someone I actually want to speak to, and I
- 3:40Speaker 1: won't be exhausted talking to them, so it makes me
- 3:43Speaker 1: seem like I'm at the party for a while.
- 3:45Speaker 3: But we're actually like so on the far out, we're
- 3:49Speaker 3: by the exit, right, but still one foot in the party,
- 3:53Speaker 3: one foot out.
- 3:54Speaker 1: When you say you can't leave the party, is that
- 3:56Speaker 1: just because you have social grace?
- 3:58Speaker 3: And I, well, no, I guess it's because more often
- 4:02Speaker 3: than not I'm there with Luke.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Sure is like mister talk right, He's I mean, such
- 4:10Speaker 1: a He's another person who's so easy to talk.
- 4:12Speaker 3: He's so wonderful. My boyfriend is a He's a professional talker.
- 4:17Speaker 3: He also has a podcast. He also does like a
- 4:20Speaker 3: live shows where he interview views people and whatever on Twitch.
- 4:26Speaker 1: A wonderful Twitch show.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Wonderful Twitch show. And so he has the gift of gab.
- 4:31Speaker 3: And I would say I do as well, but not
- 4:34Speaker 3: to the degree that he does, where I think that
- 4:36Speaker 3: more often than not, I'm in my head right, you
- 4:40Speaker 3: know what I mean, where I'm just sort of like, okay,
- 4:42Speaker 3: am I talking too much? Am I?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Like?
- 4:45Speaker 3: For example, literally yesterday I did a podcast. This is
- 4:48Speaker 3: not normal for me, and I left freaking out feeling like,
- 4:52Speaker 3: oh no, do I talk too much?
- 4:54Speaker 1: But it's like it's a podcast, of course, that's the job,
- 4:57Speaker 1: main job of the podcast.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I did my job, but I was like, am I
- 5:00Speaker 3: a monster? Did I monologue?
- 5:02Speaker 1: I mean I've run into people on I won't say
- 5:05Speaker 1: what podcasts, but on a podcast where I've thought, oh,
- 5:08Speaker 1: that person person should stop talking.
- 5:10Speaker 3: See that.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I can't imagine you're that person. I hope not, but
- 5:13Speaker 1: I feel like, yeah, our relationships are similar where Jim
- 5:16Speaker 1: my boyfriend will he doesn't live in his head. Yes,
- 5:20Speaker 1: and sometimes I'm like maybe a little bit, I've been
- 5:22Speaker 1: there and just think about what's going.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Take a step in, Yeah, come on, let's close that
- 5:27Speaker 3: door just a touch, right.
- 5:29Speaker 1: But Luke has a slight and this is not a
- 5:31Speaker 1: slight on him, but a party boys to him like
- 5:34Speaker 1: to have a good time. Yes, So I feel like
- 5:37Speaker 1: I'm so jealous of that. I know.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And he has sort of like a he's not a jock,
- 5:40Speaker 3: but the first time I met him, I thought that
- 5:42Speaker 3: he was like a like a power alpha.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's like a sturdy guy.
- 5:47Speaker 3: He's a sturdy guy. He's like barrel chested, and he
- 5:49Speaker 3: has like a big booming voice that marries and he's
- 5:52Speaker 3: very confident. And so you see that and you're like, okay,
- 5:56Speaker 3: well that's like a.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Guy who led a frat right on paper, someone I
- 6:00Speaker 1: should not like exactly and I adore.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's like the biggest sweet pea in the
- 6:04Speaker 3: entire world. Couldn't be more opposite, you know, like likes anime, etcetera.
- 6:08Speaker 3: You know what I like is so not that guy.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But at a party, he really cleans up. He really
- 6:15Speaker 3: mops the floor at a party because he's just so easy.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And I think that I, you know, also at a party. Well,
- 6:22Speaker 3: I think part of the reason why we get along
- 6:24Speaker 3: so well is like I think it's like, well.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I excel one on one right, Yes, I mean that's
- 6:29Speaker 1: why a party to me is a little bit of
- 6:30Speaker 1: a waste of time, yeah, because I'm like, well, I
- 6:32Speaker 1: would rather just go out to dinner with every one
- 6:34Speaker 1: of these people, no exactly.
- 6:36Speaker 3: And instead it's like I feel like I'm in this
- 6:37Speaker 3: like bit circus where you get like this like bit
- 6:41Speaker 3: tornado where you keep running into people and you're like oh,
- 6:45Speaker 3: and then it's like for fifteen seconds each you get
- 6:48Speaker 3: kind of locked and and then everyone has the same
- 6:50Speaker 3: sort of fear in their eyes because everyone's.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah everyone, and everyone has the same nerosi.
- 6:56Speaker 3: You know, and it's like I feel like I'm in
- 6:58Speaker 3: a conversation for five minutes. I say, I have to
- 7:00Speaker 3: go to the bathroom. I don't.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, the people think I have a uti
- 7:03Speaker 1: or something like. Something is going on with this man's
- 7:06Speaker 1: bless something is really he just told me he just
- 7:09Speaker 1: had to go to the bathroom ten times over the
- 7:11Speaker 1: last half hour.
- 7:12Speaker 3: You guys have to start a GoFundMe. Richard's really unwell.
- 7:17Speaker 1: He's destroying our toilets.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Oh no, it's flooding you guys. Yeah, well, I am
- 7:24Speaker 3: so glad you feel that way. I feel the exact
- 7:26Speaker 3: same way about you. What a delight that is, because
- 7:28Speaker 3: sometimes you think that you have found that person and
- 7:31Speaker 3: actually you're being a terrorist.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, Yes, And I mean I've felt that
- 7:34Speaker 1: a way about you, Like I'm like, what if she's
- 7:36Speaker 1: just like tolerating? Oh no, here he comes again. Not
- 7:41Speaker 1: a single party. I can have any peace that wretched
- 7:43Speaker 1: redheaded man keeps finding me.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Oh no, all I want to do is hanging out
- 7:49Speaker 3: with my sweet boyfriend with his beautiful gift of gas.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I just want to be in the throes of this party.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Oh no, m yeah, it's a yeah, what a what
- 7:59Speaker 1: a blessed say? I'm so go ahead No, you go ahead.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You're the guest I get to call. I called the
- 8:05Speaker 1: shots on the guests. Okay, that's how social interactions were.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Wait, okay, well I was. I got excited and I
- 8:14Speaker 3: meant to, uh comment on your intro because you mentioned
- 8:19Speaker 3: Little House on the Prairier.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Oh wait, are you go ahead?
- 8:22Speaker 3: Well, it's not that I'm familiar in it.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Okay, what if I ended it there? So I had
- 8:28Speaker 1: some thoughts on your intro, I'd have nothing to say
- 8:30Speaker 1: about it.
- 8:30Speaker 3: They interrupt you to say that, Okay, it's just that
- 8:34Speaker 3: I you said you brought it up in the sense
- 8:36Speaker 3: that did you mean that you you went to uha Utah?
- 8:40Speaker 3: You haw? You went to Utah and then you said
- 8:45Speaker 3: you weren't doing well and so you turned to Little
- 8:48Speaker 3: House on the Prairie and the comfort.
- 8:50Speaker 1: No, so what the cases we've I've been I've been
- 8:53Speaker 1: watching Little House on the Prairie for the first time.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Oh and I feel like since I started talking about
- 8:58Speaker 1: it on this podcast, a lot of listeners are like,
- 8:59Speaker 1: I'm on season seven, episode fifty, and I'm like, I'm
- 9:03Speaker 1: still halfway through season one. Wow, the slow the pace
- 9:07Speaker 1: that we watched TV in this household is ridiculous.
- 9:10Speaker 3: What do you say?
- 9:11Speaker 1: What? Like? What?
- 9:12Speaker 3: How often are you returning to something one a night? Okay,
- 9:16Speaker 3: that's normal though, I guess.
- 9:18Speaker 1: But I feel like I know a lot of people
- 9:19Speaker 1: who are like, I've watched four in a row, and
- 9:22Speaker 1: I just this show in particular is very slow. Yeah,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and kind of nothing ever happens, and Jim is asleep
- 9:29Speaker 1: about halfway through each show, so it takes forever. But
- 9:33Speaker 1: in missing four days while being in Utah, I feel
- 9:35Speaker 1: like now I've fallen behind on another thing. Yeah, absolutely,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and it's that show obviously has ended in I think
- 9:43Speaker 1: nineteen eighty two, so I don't know that it matters that.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Spoil over. Yeah, I've never watched a peep of it.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Do you Is it something that you like confidently recommend
- 9:53Speaker 3: to people or is it kind of really it's.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It's so fascinating. It's so like innocent and sweet and
- 10:02Speaker 1: low steaks in so many ways, sometimes a little too Christian.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Sure it gets into some where it's like, oh this
- 10:09Speaker 1: was on network TV, and they're like, totally, Laura is
- 10:12Speaker 1: like climbing a mountain to talk to God.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, so it's not just a little it's like.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Kind of Yeah, there episodes where it's full like what
- 10:19Speaker 1: is happening? Pretty heavy handed, and then she meets it
- 10:21Speaker 1: like an angel on the top of the mountain who
- 10:23Speaker 1: also looks like kind of just like a miner who
- 10:26Speaker 1: lives it's sort of thing as a kid. If I
- 10:28Speaker 1: had watched it, I'd be like, that's scary. That's to
- 10:30Speaker 1: meet a strange man in the mountains.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I thought you meant like a person under age.
- 10:39Speaker 1: She meets a guy who can't drink or drive, but
- 10:44Speaker 1: he's holy, he's very close to God.
- 10:47Speaker 3: What would you rather see gun to your head? An
- 10:50Speaker 3: underaged angel, Angel that has worked in the mines.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Angel who's worked in the mines. You see an angel
- 11:00Speaker 1: who's gotten his hands sturdy, Yeah, who's seen the tough times.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 1: It isn't just you know, wings and a harp, right,
- 11:07Speaker 1: I mean angel? Yeah, an angel. I feel like we
- 11:09Speaker 1: need a rougher brand of angels. I think that's really nice. Yeah,
- 11:13Speaker 1: you want an angel with the experience, Yeah, a bit
- 11:15Speaker 1: like a kid. Angel is going to be precocious, totally irritating.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I guess like then we're wondering, like when did you die? Yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 1: it's tough, which is a tragic tough. Our angels, now
- 11:26Speaker 1: this is a question and I probably should know the
- 11:29Speaker 1: answer to this, but our angels former humans who died,
- 11:33Speaker 1: or they their own breed of heavenly.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Creature, like yeah, sort of like a like a unicorner
- 11:38Speaker 3: like right.
- 11:39Speaker 1: They never like we're never a person. They just like
- 11:42Speaker 1: God created them as his own arm.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I think it absolutely is a person that died, because
- 11:47Speaker 3: then it's like, what are you talking about when you're
- 11:49Speaker 3: like God gained another angel?
- 11:50Speaker 1: Oh that's right, yeah, phrase yeah, okay, right.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Unless it's like something yeah, because it's like what if
- 11:57Speaker 3: it's what you proposed? It's like God gained another angel?
- 12:01Speaker 3: Is like when someone happens to die here, something really
- 12:04Speaker 3: freaky happens there where like a cloud starts like pulsating,
- 12:08Speaker 3: and then like a hand starts sticking, and everyone starts screaming,
- 12:12Speaker 3: and then you know, and then you know, and then
- 12:15Speaker 3: it forms into a person. There's wings, they're screaming, and
- 12:19Speaker 3: they're so wet. They're so wet, and it's good.
- 12:24Speaker 1: It's like a bird coming out of an egg.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and then God has to feed it the yeah yeah, yeah,
- 12:29Speaker 3: God it's costs throwing up in its mouth and then
- 12:33Speaker 3: it eventually becomes a person, and then it gains the harp,
- 12:37Speaker 3: and the harp represents how many times it's gotten thrown
- 12:39Speaker 3: up in its mouth, like how much nutrients each string
- 12:42Speaker 3: on the harp is how many times it's happened.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Why are birds the only creature who throws up into
- 12:47Speaker 1: the baby's mouth?
- 12:48Speaker 3: Because it's like, what else.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Are they gonna do? That's what every stret should do, regurgitation.
- 12:54Speaker 1: What do you mean humans should be doing that?
- 12:58Speaker 3: Well, wait a second, wait a second, because I think
- 13:02Speaker 3: that's actually untrue.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I think, hold on, oh boy, here we go. I
- 13:07Speaker 1: have you know what. I was a child of animal planting,
- 13:10Speaker 1: Miss Zoo encyclopes, little miss.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Little miss mammal coming in. I I do think that
- 13:17Speaker 3: there are certain like I don't want to say coyote
- 13:20Speaker 3: with full confidence, but I want to say, like a coyote,
- 13:23Speaker 3: like interesting is bringing food back to their young and
- 13:27Speaker 3: at least chewing it.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Right, pre chewing, pre chewing kind of like a parent,
- 13:31Speaker 1: like cutting up the hot dog on a plate.
- 13:33Speaker 3: One hundred percent doing sort of like a beanie weenie. Yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 3: I do think that, Like, yeah, I think it's like
- 13:39Speaker 3: maybe a raccoon situation or like, I think that is
- 13:43Speaker 3: that is part of it.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I can see a raccoon like ripping up bread.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, making like a panzanella.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I'm not into a panzanella me neither. I'm kind of
- 13:54Speaker 3: like I wish it was just bread, and I wish
- 13:56Speaker 3: it was just selling.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the two. It's like, well, we've just ruined
- 13:59Speaker 1: both of these things in such an incredible way.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I completely agree. And I also feel like every time
- 14:04Speaker 3: I see it, I'm like, I can feel what it's
- 14:07Speaker 3: going to be like putting you know where. It's like
- 14:09Speaker 3: I can feel my mouth being ripped to sheds by
- 14:11Speaker 3: the toasted bread points, you know what I mean. Trying
- 14:14Speaker 3: to have a conversation.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It makes no sense.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I can't handle it. What's your favorite salad?
- 14:19Speaker 1: My favorite salad? Cob?
- 14:21Speaker 3: Oh? You didn't hesitate?
- 14:23Speaker 1: Oh? I love a cob set. Have you had a
- 14:25Speaker 1: Clark Street diner?
- 14:26Speaker 3: Not in a long time?
- 14:27Speaker 1: It they're cob salad. I could eat that three meals
- 14:30Speaker 1: a day, Oh my god. Although it takes like four hours.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I call it the four hour salad because it's just
- 14:35Speaker 1: your working through it takes. And this is a secret,
- 14:37Speaker 1: this is something I've learned recently a great power move
- 14:40Speaker 1: at any dining situation, if you order the salad, you
- 14:43Speaker 1: are now in control of the speed of the meal.
- 14:45Speaker 1: That's so real because the other person, if they didn't
- 14:49Speaker 1: get a salad, they'll be done a tenth of the
- 14:51Speaker 1: way through your salad.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Sandwich is like ten bytes.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, salad is minimum three hundred and fifty bytes.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I completely agree. Also, like what's what's going on? Like
- 15:02Speaker 3: what's the fork keft?
- 15:04Speaker 1: You know?
- 15:04Speaker 3: Are you doing like a dainty pee here and there?
- 15:07Speaker 3: Like a chickpea stab here and there? Yeah? I completely agree.
- 15:10Speaker 3: You know who has a fantastic socept that I've been
- 15:13Speaker 3: really obsessed with recently. I found it and I said,
- 15:15Speaker 3: I'm never letting this go.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Jata on uh oh on York York.
- 15:20Speaker 3: The chicken kale salad. Can I break it down?
- 15:23Speaker 1: Please? I would love to know because I have questions.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I have a whole Jata discussion to have after this.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Absolutely Okay, it's like a you know, shredded massaged kale.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So it's not yet dry.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's like yeah yeah, but it's like
- 15:36Speaker 3: it's like it.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Does have to massage, you have to massage.
- 15:40Speaker 3: I'm just doing this until this is.
- 15:42Speaker 1: My big complain about sweet Green. I don't think they
- 15:44Speaker 1: massage their kale. And then it feels like you're eating
- 15:46Speaker 1: just like roughie.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree. So this is like not that they've
- 15:50Speaker 3: done it right. Really nice moist grilled chicken that's sliced,
- 15:55Speaker 3: which I.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Always am like, that's a tough thing to do, Oh
- 15:58Speaker 1: my god, because if when you slice it up, clock
- 16:00Speaker 1: is sticking yep, and.
- 16:01Speaker 3: It's it's they don't mess around. It's really nicely charred,
- 16:04Speaker 3: really nicely seasoned, really okay. And then you've got something
- 16:08Speaker 3: that I forget is so wonderful in a salad, but
- 16:11Speaker 3: deeply toasted.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Pine nuts, Oh fantastic. Oh my god, such an easy addition.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Easy and you're like, this feels so like special all
- 16:20Speaker 3: of a sudden.
- 16:21Speaker 1: And easy to distribute through a salad.
- 16:23Speaker 3: No, exactly, it's so great. It's like, yeah, it doesn't
- 16:26Speaker 3: like become like one horrible right right. Yeah. And then
- 16:29Speaker 3: it's just like really good cheese like I think, you know,
- 16:32Speaker 3: like a palm or whatever, and everything's like really beautifully
- 16:35Speaker 3: coated in the palm. And then they have I'm forgetting
- 16:38Speaker 3: some stuff. I assume there's like chickpea. Oh there's a
- 16:40Speaker 3: lot of like avocado.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Ok, this is my dream salad and that's what I'm saying.
- 16:44Speaker 3: And then I'm almost done. The dressing is like a
- 16:48Speaker 3: gorgeous like lemony sort of cheese, oh vinaigrette.
- 16:54Speaker 1: That I might get this for dinner.
- 16:55Speaker 3: It's so great. If you do, please let me know.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I will because I've been to John and for the listener,
- 17:01Speaker 1: Uh who's not based in Los Angeles? Again, Wait, but
- 17:06Speaker 1: Katie did give you all the ingredients to make the salad. Yes,
- 17:09Speaker 1: so stop complaining and get making. So you know what?
- 17:11Speaker 3: Shut up?
- 17:12Speaker 1: Toss it up, baby baby? What was I? Oh, I've
- 17:16Speaker 1: been to Jatta is spelled gg I t A, which
- 17:20Speaker 1: is mildly confusing. I'm not quite sure how that works.
- 17:23Speaker 1: G G I A t A Okay what did I say?
- 17:27Speaker 3: I T A Oh I A t A yeah, okay, yeah,
- 17:32Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 17:33Speaker 2: What is that?
- 17:33Speaker 3: What is I don't know what the yeah, I don't
- 17:37Speaker 3: know what the double G is.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I could have done without. I don't know that
- 17:40Speaker 1: anyone needed. Yeah, but it's a little sandwich salad place.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But I've only ever this is my fault ordered raps.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But because and I will defend myself. The first one
- 17:54Speaker 1: I had sounded incredible, and I've had so a real
- 17:57Speaker 1: success with a buffalo chicken wrap in other place. Oh right, Yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 1: it's almost always a surefire hit.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Totally not a jotna. That doesn't surprise me.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Then I had a Caesar wrap Chicken Caesar wrap. Again,
- 18:10Speaker 1: I feel like you can order that at a theme
- 18:12Speaker 1: park and have a good version of totally didn't work. Really,
- 18:15Speaker 1: I feel like they underdressed it. I think with a
- 18:18Speaker 1: wrap you really need to just dump as much dressing
- 18:21Speaker 1: as the pole.
- 18:21Speaker 3: It's really not about anything other.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Than no, it should be essentially a burrito in like
- 18:27Speaker 1: moisture left you need the foil to catch, yes, absolutely,
- 18:31Speaker 1: it should be getting soggy while eating, yeah, absolutely so.
- 18:34Speaker 1: But now the salad is basically that without the dry tortilla. Totally,
- 18:40Speaker 1: so that will be my next move there.
- 18:42Speaker 3: You gotta do the salad. The sandwich is really good,
- 18:46Speaker 3: but it is kind of a nightmare right where it's like,
- 18:48Speaker 3: I'm not really a giant sandwich in the middle of
- 18:51Speaker 3: the day.
- 18:51Speaker 1: No, that's a dinner.
- 18:52Speaker 3: That's a dinner, and I like, I totally agree. I
- 18:55Speaker 3: did it the other day to like to like fit in.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Our peer pressured.
- 19:03Speaker 3: It was fear pressured into a big, delicious sandwich where
- 19:06Speaker 3: I was just like working with a bunch of people
- 19:08Speaker 3: and we all went to Bubb and Grandma's on others songs.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Oh I had their meat loaft sandwich the other day.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Oh my god, that thing is nine pounds and I
- 19:16Speaker 1: ate the entire thing.
- 19:17Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Delicious, It's so fabulous.
- 19:20Speaker 3: I had the brisket for the first time.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Oh with the apples.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I hadn't, and I'd been, I'd been, I'd been avoiding it.
- 19:26Speaker 3: It's like, this seems like a big mess, and it is.
- 19:29Speaker 3: It's sort of a big, horrible mess, and it's and
- 19:31Speaker 3: it's sort of a big mess on the tummy, it's
- 19:33Speaker 3: a big mess on the plate, in the hands. But again,
- 19:35Speaker 3: I was like with a bunch of fellas working and
- 19:37Speaker 3: they were like, let's go to Bulbs. And then I
- 19:38Speaker 3: was like, yeah, I guess I'll get a big sandwich.
- 19:42Speaker 3: And it truly was like in the middle of eating,
- 19:45Speaker 3: it's like it was so wonderful, but it was.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Like it's noon, so yeah, but they're not open for dinner.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Guess what, well, they're open Sundays and Mondays. Have you
- 19:55Speaker 1: been No, I'm dying to go.
- 19:57Speaker 3: It's we have to go. It's so good.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I looked at like dreamt about this menu, the chicken dish. Oh,
- 20:06Speaker 1: oh my god. We have to stop because listener, you
- 20:12Speaker 1: should make a trip to Los Angeles. We're doing the
- 20:14Speaker 1: live show August twenty second. You can go to both
- 20:16Speaker 1: of these restaurants. What are we talking about? Book the flight,
- 20:20Speaker 1: the flight, but you.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Have to make sure the live show is on a
- 20:22Speaker 3: Sunday or Monday.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Well, it's on a Friday, so they have to do
- 20:24Speaker 1: a Friday through Sunday or Friday through. You can do
- 20:26Speaker 1: a weekend, perfect weekend trip. That's really well, say boss,
- 20:30Speaker 1: I'm not going to be here Monday. I gotta take
- 20:32Speaker 1: a long weekend.
- 20:33Speaker 3: You know, I gotta get that Bubbs dinner chicken And
- 20:36Speaker 3: the boss says what and then you repeat it again
- 20:39Speaker 3: and then you get fired.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Lose your job. The Econnery is the all time peak.
- 20:45Speaker 1: We're all having an incredible talk comedy. What could go wrong?
- 20:50Speaker 3: Go wrong? Really? Nice?
- 20:52Speaker 1: Wow? We do need to go there for dinner.
- 20:54Speaker 3: We have to, and I think that that should happen soon.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I took a long break from bub and Grandma's, and sure,
- 20:58Speaker 1: we'll keep talking about it because they opened, I think
- 21:04Speaker 1: in twenty one, and I had a whole conspiracy theory
- 21:08Speaker 1: about this place because we are in kind of a
- 21:10Speaker 1: rapidly gentrifying area of Los Angeles, and they they opened
- 21:14Speaker 1: next to a restaurant that had been protested. Yeah, done more,
- 21:17Speaker 1: it dones more. And so they opened shortly after. And
- 21:20Speaker 1: my conspiracy theory was, We're going to open with lower
- 21:23Speaker 1: prices as to avoid people freaking out, because it was
- 21:27Speaker 1: very reasonable. They did that, and then not that long
- 21:30Speaker 1: after just a few months, the prices ticked up. But
- 21:37Speaker 1: I still think it's in comparison to rest of LA.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And now that I've gone back recently, I'm like, oh, actually,
- 21:41Speaker 1: it is kind of For the quality of food, it's
- 21:45Speaker 1: fairly affordable.
- 21:46Speaker 3: It's so sad to reckon with that because I completely
- 21:49Speaker 3: agree with you, but it's like, there are so many
- 21:52Speaker 3: times where I'm like over the moon, thrilled that I've
- 21:56Speaker 3: paid twenty five dollars for a normal sandwich with all
- 22:00Speaker 3: ingredients that cost forty cents and it doesn't make me
- 22:02Speaker 3: sick or taste like shit, And I'm like, you know what,
- 22:05Speaker 3: that's a great deal.
- 22:06Speaker 1: What a bark.
- 22:06Speaker 3: It is just like, oh, I've been brainwashed, and it's
- 22:09Speaker 3: just like there's so many times where I've gone out
- 22:12Speaker 3: in this god forsake in town. I love living here
- 22:14Speaker 3: or whatever, but it's like and I've just paid just
- 22:17Speaker 3: an absurd for food. That's like, well, I just simply
- 22:19Speaker 3: could have made this at home.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the price is there's an I'm not going
- 22:23Speaker 1: to name. There's another sandwich restaurant here that I won't
- 22:26Speaker 1: even call out. I think I have on this restaurant
- 22:28Speaker 1: on this podcast before that I think was ground zero
- 22:30Speaker 1: for sandwich prices just doubling overnight, and I think I
- 22:34Speaker 1: know what you're talking about. Does it start with a W?
- 22:38Speaker 3: Yes?
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and great sandwiches, but
- 22:42Speaker 1: again not that great. Sorry not to turn a whole
- 22:49Speaker 1: the sitting into a culture of twenty five dollars sandwiches.
- 22:51Speaker 3: It's too much. And it's also like the whole like, okay,
- 22:55Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna pivot a little bit. We'll see
- 23:00Speaker 3: so bub and Grahama's everything. What's your thought on a
- 23:04Speaker 3: smash burger?
- 23:05Speaker 1: Oh enough, yes, I agree. I think it's a delicious
- 23:12Speaker 1: tasting thing totally. But now there used to be a
- 23:15Speaker 1: restaurant in LA called gold State. Yea Golden State on Fairfax,
- 23:20Speaker 1: not a smash burger, probably the best hamburger I've ever eaten, whoa.
- 23:25Speaker 1: And they were hanging in there until the pandemic that
- 23:28Speaker 1: then that shut them down. Then they opened up. They
- 23:30Speaker 1: also own a coffee shop next door called Kofax. Oh yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 1: and they started selling hamburgers out of that and it
- 23:37Speaker 1: was like a miracle because every other hamburger in LA
- 23:39Speaker 1: is now a smash Burger. So we would drive to
- 23:42Speaker 1: West Hollywood probably every other week at least, just to
- 23:45Speaker 1: get a hamburger there. And now that's closed.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Well have you been to Castles?
- 23:50Speaker 1: Now this is a whole other conversation I don't have
- 23:52Speaker 1: with you because I call it Casselles. And now which
- 23:57Speaker 1: of us is right?
- 23:58Speaker 3: Well, so I think I actually started. I started out
- 24:02Speaker 3: in my Castle's Journey the Cells, but then I got
- 24:05Speaker 3: nervous because then I was like, am I like adding
- 24:07Speaker 3: like a fanciness to this that, like it's a hamburger place, right?
- 24:10Speaker 3: But then I but I don't know, I don't know
- 24:14Speaker 3: the answer.
- 24:14Speaker 1: If I had my phone nearby. I would call them
- 24:16Speaker 1: right now.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yes, how do you say it? And they're like, don't
- 24:20Speaker 3: call here.
- 24:21Speaker 1: This is what my method would be. The answer, say
- 24:23Speaker 1: the name, and I would hang up on them.
- 24:25Speaker 3: That's genius. That's like, that's a better thing than what
- 24:28Speaker 3: I said.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Because if I'm more, if I'm wondering if a business
- 24:32Speaker 1: is open for the day, I won't call and ask
- 24:33Speaker 1: what their hours are. I'll call and hang up on them.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I'm like, well, they answered the phone, certainly they're open.
- 24:40Speaker 1: That's free because I don't want to say are you open,
- 24:42Speaker 1: because then I don't want My fear is I'll be like,
- 24:44Speaker 1: what do you think.
- 24:45Speaker 3: You're gonna be met with like a exactly like yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 3: that's a really you're kind of like doing like a
- 24:50Speaker 3: sort of a prank.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Call, which is probably more. I bet the employee is
- 24:56Speaker 1: thrilled that they don't have to answer any questions.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, honestly.
- 24:58Speaker 1: But you bring up Castle's Casselle and tell me why.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I think it's really delicious.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Best absolute best patty melt I've ever had.
- 25:07Speaker 3: It's so psycho, it's so good.
- 25:10Speaker 1: It's what you get there.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Well, and my orders changed. So I used to live
- 25:14Speaker 3: in Koreatown, and I was there in Koreatown during the
- 25:16Speaker 3: pandemic and Castle Slash Casseels was like a every once
- 25:22Speaker 3: in a while treat to go that because I did
- 25:25Speaker 3: like a carry out window during the oh yeah, and
- 25:29Speaker 3: it was like, you know, at fifteen minute walk from
- 25:30Speaker 3: my place, and it felt like such a special treat
- 25:33Speaker 3: because also the way it's like very kind of like
- 25:35Speaker 3: it's like a it's like an everyman sugarfish way they
- 25:40Speaker 3: do the carry out because it's like, you know, a
- 25:42Speaker 3: big cardboard box. It's like very handsome, like the stamp
- 25:46Speaker 3: of like the logo stamped on it, right, and then
- 25:49Speaker 3: it's like a checkered wax paper.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Oh, I love that paper.
- 25:52Speaker 3: And it's like so you just feel like taken care of,
- 25:55Speaker 3: you know. So I used to do like a like
- 25:58Speaker 3: a run of the mill like cheeseburger with with everything right,
- 26:02Speaker 3: you know. I think aesthetically, it's like give me the
- 26:04Speaker 3: onion ring, give me the likeliness.
- 26:06Speaker 4: I love.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Like the the fry there, I think is really excellent
- 26:10Speaker 1: French fry.
- 26:11Speaker 3: It's like they're not doing them right. Oh they are.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Nobody else.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Nobody else is doing it.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Every other manager in the city should go try at
- 26:19Speaker 1: Cassel's Castle's French fry.
- 26:21Speaker 3: It's so it's so spot on. And then I would
- 26:24Speaker 3: get they used to have and I think maybe maybe
- 26:27Speaker 3: it's like a rotating special thing, but they used to
- 26:31Speaker 3: have a tamer and soda.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Oh that sounds incredible.
- 26:34Speaker 4: It was just like.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Unreal, oh, really really really great stuff. So I just
- 26:39Speaker 3: sort of did like a classic meal with a little.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Thun drink right right.
- 26:44Speaker 3: But then I then I started to play around because
- 26:47Speaker 3: I think it was like you know, COVID lockdown brain,
- 26:50Speaker 3: where I was like, if I get this and it's
- 26:52Speaker 3: not perfect, I'm gonna lose enough time. So I found
- 26:55Speaker 3: the thing that worked, and I was like, well, I can't.
- 26:57Speaker 3: But then once everything was normal and I felt normal
- 27:00Speaker 3: and stable, I started getting patty.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Melts, the patty melts with the crispy cheese on the outside.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I've ever seen something like this before. It's really wonderful
- 27:09Speaker 1: stuff they've got Secretly the Denver Omelet's very good.
- 27:12Speaker 3: That's fascinating, very.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Good fried chicken sandwich. They're so good. What a great place.
- 27:18Speaker 1: It's underrated.
- 27:18Speaker 3: It's really underrated.
- 27:19Speaker 1: There's one in there. I know. I will say. The
- 27:22Speaker 1: service is a little crazy.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little bit bananas.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I feel like they have a new employee every single
- 27:26Speaker 1: time we're there who's just learning what's going on.
- 27:28Speaker 3: They don't know what's happening.
- 27:30Speaker 1: But the food's always good. How are you having your
- 27:35Speaker 1: hamburger cooked medium rare? Me too? Wow? Come on, just
- 27:39Speaker 1: two souls connected hearing.
- 27:43Speaker 3: I'm so glad that you feel the same way about
- 27:45Speaker 3: smash burgers. I think enough is enough. I don't care
- 27:48Speaker 3: about them. No, did you go there's like that new
- 27:51Speaker 3: one that opened on eel Rock Boulevard that I live
- 27:55Speaker 3: in Eagle Rock and nobody cares. But it's like it's
- 27:58Speaker 3: a neighborhood and there's.
- 27:59Speaker 1: One that get your map out, start circling things.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Oh sorry, but there's one that opened next to my
- 28:03Speaker 3: house that like everyone in my neighborhood was like freaking
- 28:06Speaker 3: out about. And I was like, you know, it was
- 28:08Speaker 3: caught in four conversations in a week where it's like,
- 28:10Speaker 3: oh my god, have you been to this place? And
- 28:12Speaker 3: I went with Luke and it was like, dude, this
- 28:16Speaker 3: is just whatever it's what is it called?
- 28:19Speaker 1: Can you name it?
- 28:21Speaker 3: Oh?
- 28:22Speaker 1: I was suspicious that this was a smash burger place,
- 28:26Speaker 1: and I'm just not going to do it.
- 28:27Speaker 3: It's gross. I mean, it's not even gross, it's fine,
- 28:29Speaker 3: but it's like, you know what, I want my hamburger
- 28:32Speaker 3: to have meat.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yes, sorry, I wanted to endanger my heart. Yes, I uh.
- 28:36Speaker 1: And that place, like the idea of it seems very
- 28:39Speaker 1: nice and I would love to, but it's like, come on,
- 28:41Speaker 1: you're what, it's such a fad. It's that we had
- 28:45Speaker 1: moved past that.
- 28:45Speaker 3: I agree. It feels very like like twenty twelve food
- 28:49Speaker 3: culture right to right, you know where it's just like
- 28:51Speaker 3: all of a sudden when everyone was like putting like
- 28:53Speaker 3: bacon on the doughnuts, you know what I mean. And
- 28:56Speaker 3: it's like very like we're taking smash burgers and actually
- 28:59Speaker 3: that's the old and it's like, you know, I wish
- 29:02Speaker 3: that that wasn't the case.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Do you know what? There's another restaurant and I will
- 29:06Speaker 1: name this place Burger Lords. Oh.
- 29:08Speaker 3: I haven't been actually this place.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Speaking of gentrification, it feels like they're trying to gentrify
- 29:13Speaker 1: a gentrified neighborhood. That's so because they use because it's
- 29:18Speaker 1: to the uh the place which I can't remember, the
- 29:23Speaker 1: lodge it's called lodge room. Yeah, this place used to
- 29:26Speaker 1: be run by other people. They sold it to these
- 29:29Speaker 1: new people and and it used to be good. Whoa
- 29:32Speaker 1: they sold it to them. They stripped the menu to
- 29:35Speaker 1: nothing but their one smash burger and it's literally twenty
- 29:39Speaker 1: five dollars, and it's kind of like, deal with it.
- 29:42Speaker 1: That's the attitude of the place. I don't leave negative
- 29:45Speaker 1: reviews for restaurants that often, but you get the people
- 29:48Speaker 1: are burning them down.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Oh my god, that's so awesome, as they should. I
- 29:54Speaker 3: think that's like so offensive.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Oh, it's so it's cruel. Let's just say it. It's cruel, cruel.
- 30:00Speaker 3: If you were to open a restaurant, what would you serve?
- 30:03Speaker 1: Oh, that's a great question. I think I would probably do. Oh,
- 30:09Speaker 1: I can't open a Mexican restaurant. I feel like that
- 30:11Speaker 1: becomes problematic pretty quickly. Although I eat so many burritos.
- 30:15Speaker 1: You could have a text Mex Text Mex. I probably
- 30:18Speaker 1: do you know what I would do? Breakfast burritos, breakfast
- 30:22Speaker 1: burritos and tacos, because there's another local chain that I
- 30:24Speaker 1: think is slipping. Huh, breakfast Tacos totally they're expanding too quickly.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Oh I know, yes, yeah, yeah, Yeah, it's not great.
- 30:34Speaker 1: It's not great. It used to be really good.
- 30:35Speaker 3: It's too salty now, way too salty.
- 30:37Speaker 1: And frequently wet.
- 30:39Speaker 3: I agree.
- 30:40Speaker 1: And it's just like that's an easy thing to make. Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like this isn't rocket science.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. Yeah, so it'd probably be that. But
- 30:47Speaker 1: I have honestly thought about opening a cookie bakery, like
- 30:50Speaker 1: if I had.
- 30:51Speaker 3: To open You're mister Cookie, I'm Cookie. You're your doctor Cookie. Yeah,
- 30:58Speaker 3: the doctor is in the prognosis is cookie. The last
- 31:02Speaker 3: time I was here, I to meet your sweet, perfect,
- 31:06Speaker 3: wonderful puff.
- 31:06Speaker 1: We should have her on the podcast.
- 31:08Speaker 3: You said you mentioned it in my heart skipped to
- 31:10Speaker 3: beat and I wasn't gonna say anything, But now that
- 31:12Speaker 3: you mention it again, I really hope she comes down.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Should we? Uh? I want to find out what you
- 31:16Speaker 1: would open? Do you need a minute to think about
- 31:19Speaker 1: as far as a restaurant or should we cover this
- 31:21Speaker 1: and then bring Bonnie.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Out for I think I know?
- 31:24Speaker 1: Okay? What is it?
- 31:27Speaker 2: Uh?
- 31:29Speaker 3: Fried baloney sandwiches?
- 31:30Speaker 1: Oh I've never had one?
- 31:32Speaker 3: Oh?
- 31:33Speaker 1: Wow? Wow? What h what goes into this?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Okay? So it's I mean, so I'm from the South, right,
- 31:41Speaker 3: I grew up partially with this woman who lived in
- 31:44Speaker 3: deep South Tennessee and Pegram and she would make us
- 31:47Speaker 3: fried baloney sandwiches all the time. Rip Judy. She recently passed.
- 31:51Speaker 3: She was awesome. She was really, really great. But it's
- 31:55Speaker 3: just like she would get bologne. Did you know bloney
- 31:58Speaker 3: came on a log.
- 32:00Speaker 1: That's one of the unfortunate things about a balooney. It's
- 32:02Speaker 1: just like, I wish that this was just slices or something.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I don't need to know anything else about this meat.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I didn't know. I mean, it's like now you go
- 32:09Speaker 3: to a deli and you're like, oh, for sure. At
- 32:11Speaker 3: the time when I was a child, I was like,
- 32:12Speaker 3: what is that? And then she would bring it up
- 32:14Speaker 3: from their freezer and like what you know, like on
- 32:17Speaker 3: her counter, but she would thick slice like two and
- 32:21Speaker 3: a half inch. Oh, that's the thick thick Baloney's I've
- 32:26Speaker 3: never had a thick that's the trick. That's really wonderful.
- 32:31Speaker 3: And then you take that you put that in a pan.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Right, I don't think you.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Really need butter oil. You know, it's right, it's got
- 32:37Speaker 3: enough of that in there, It's got whatever is in
- 32:40Speaker 3: there is seep and out and it'll fry and it's
- 32:42Speaker 3: it's sort of excretions and you give it a nice
- 32:47Speaker 3: year and then you know, I think ideally, Actually it
- 32:50Speaker 3: was really sweet when when Judy passed away, I had
- 32:53Speaker 3: my brother come over to my house and we made
- 32:56Speaker 3: all of the foods that were like, oh, that's so sweet.
- 32:58Speaker 3: We watched Angel on the Outfield, which was like the
- 33:01Speaker 3: movie that we would watch at our house, and we
- 33:03Speaker 3: made biscuits and apple butter. We made fried baloney sandwiches
- 33:08Speaker 3: and we like even tracked down like the apple butter
- 33:10Speaker 3: that was oh wow, like found it online and it's
- 33:14Speaker 3: like you know, spoiler, it's like cheap, normal apple, but
- 33:18Speaker 3: very specific. But anyway, so it's like big thick baloney, seared, seared, seared,
- 33:24Speaker 3: and then you get good bread like I think ideally
- 33:27Speaker 3: either you know, not like a potato bread because it's
- 33:31Speaker 3: kind of too mush, but like as much as I
- 33:33Speaker 3: love that, but maybe something with a little bit of no,
- 33:37Speaker 3: you know what, I'm gonna go back potato bread. Get
- 33:39Speaker 3: a potato bread, and then you get a crisp, good
- 33:43Speaker 3: butter lettuce, a nice thick cut, good quality tomato, good
- 33:49Speaker 3: thick mayonnaise. Either side of the bread and cheese optional.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I don't like it with cheese. But it's just like
- 33:57Speaker 3: a It's almost like you're doing.
- 33:58Speaker 1: A Blteah, it's like a hardy blt exactly. And I
- 34:02Speaker 1: was just I can't remember who I was complaining too
- 34:03Speaker 1: recently that a belt really never feels like a sandwich
- 34:06Speaker 1: to me, Like this is so this corrects that, right,
- 34:08Speaker 1: It's more like because we're closing in on Hamburger territory,
- 34:12Speaker 1: but with bacon flavor.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Almost it's really nice.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Wow, that feels like a business that could happen.
- 34:17Speaker 3: I think it could happen, and I wouldn't be a
- 34:19Speaker 3: I wouldn't be like and that's actually all we have,
- 34:21Speaker 3: you know. I wouldn't be like you know, it would
- 34:23Speaker 3: be it'd be sixty cents and then it would be
- 34:26Speaker 3: on a menu full of like Yeah, I would do biscuits.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I would do sort of like an egg sandwich. I
- 34:32Speaker 3: would do like a nice like cucumber vinegar salad. Oh,
- 34:36Speaker 3: everything's really cheap, you know. I do like a pickle situation.
- 34:40Speaker 1: This sounds incredible. This to me, I frequently feel like
- 34:44Speaker 1: I eat like a I like detective food. What do
- 34:46Speaker 1: you mean food like that you just ordered a diner
- 34:48Speaker 1: that you could have with the coffee.
- 34:50Speaker 3: But that's really nice. I like, you have to do
- 34:53Speaker 3: a lot of research to say what's in it.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I'm looking into every ingredient to make sure that it's
- 34:58Speaker 1: clean eating.
- 35:00Speaker 3: You're terrorizing everywhere. That is I totally feel you. So
- 35:05Speaker 3: you're saying, like a slice of pie a nice like yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 3: non no nonsense, sandwich.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah. I remember when I was eating or
- 35:12Speaker 1: when I was working at Kimmy Schmidt. I remember they
- 35:15Speaker 1: had a birthday cake come in and I had a
- 35:17Speaker 1: slice and I had it with a cup of black
- 35:19Speaker 1: coffee and my boss said, what are you a traveling salesman?
- 35:22Speaker 1: And I thought, kind of, that's kind of my diet.
- 35:25Speaker 3: It's really nice. It's so like wonderful. We like when
- 35:30Speaker 3: when when we have you know, like if there's like
- 35:32Speaker 3: a holiday or we have a party. Oh my god,
- 35:34Speaker 3: somebody brought we we had a Fourth of July thing
- 35:37Speaker 3: that hmm I did.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Huh, Katie, I actually want to apologize someone I was
- 35:42Speaker 1: so looking forward to coming to this.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Interesting someone didn't show up to even though RSVPD yes
- 35:51Speaker 3: on the party for and then oh and behold, I
- 35:54Speaker 3: wake up this morning. I say, what a wonderful time
- 35:56Speaker 3: to just stretch and enjoy my morning. Came emergency text
- 36:00Speaker 3: from Bridger. Can you do a big favorite? Can you
- 36:02Speaker 3: be a guest on the pod?
- 36:03Speaker 1: Oh?
- 36:04Speaker 3: Is that interesting? Is the second? But I throw a
- 36:07Speaker 3: wonderful party and you're nowhere to be seen. That's okay,
- 36:10Speaker 3: that's totally fine.
- 36:12Speaker 1: But anyway, I was actually I not only was I
- 36:15Speaker 1: planning to come, I was telling people I'm going to Katie's.
- 36:18Speaker 1: What the next day I was going to Utah seven am?
- 36:21Speaker 3: Oh, that's why.
- 36:22Speaker 1: And I had an early Fourth of July party that
- 36:25Speaker 1: I went to at noon. Yeah, And I kept telling Jim,
- 36:28Speaker 1: I'm going to Katy's. I'm going to Katy's or you
- 36:29Speaker 1: can't do two parties like find Jim, you don't have
- 36:31Speaker 1: to come, I'm going to Katie's. The wall of fatigue
- 36:34Speaker 1: that hit me. Yeah, I was like, and I'm telling you,
- 36:39Speaker 1: there are so many parties that I'm happy to just
- 36:41Speaker 1: not go to totally. This was one that was a
- 36:43Speaker 1: true moral dilemma for me where I almost texted you,
- 36:46Speaker 1: but then I was like, she doesn't want to hear,
- 36:47Speaker 1: she does not care.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Well, it's not that I was like, well, I'm not
- 36:53Speaker 3: to lay it on thick. It's like I would have
- 36:55Speaker 3: loved to see you. It wasn't that I was like
- 36:57Speaker 3: crushed that you weren't there. I totally get it. Like
- 37:00Speaker 3: I'm if there's someone who's at a different party, it's Bridger.
- 37:02Speaker 3: It's like, I'm sure that you're You're mister party truly,
- 37:05Speaker 3: not you're doctor Cookie, You're mister Well okay, you don't
- 37:08Speaker 3: like parties, but you're at them.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I'm adam, you're at them just a nice reluctantly there. Yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 1: but this is a party that I would not have
- 37:15Speaker 1: been reluctantly there.
- 37:16Speaker 3: That's nice.
- 37:16Speaker 1: But literally, I don't know what happened to me.
- 37:18Speaker 3: It was hot.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I think it was the heat. I think just being
- 37:21Speaker 1: on the heat for like the forty five minutes I was.
- 37:23Speaker 1: The other event was just like sun sickness.
- 37:26Speaker 3: It was really tough because ours started at three and
- 37:28Speaker 3: then people came uh at like three on the dot
- 37:32Speaker 3: actually and then like it didn't it wasn't tolerable to
- 37:35Speaker 3: be outside until about five, and it was really tough
- 37:39Speaker 3: and just like muscling through conversation and like Luke was on,
- 37:43Speaker 3: I mean Luke came alive on the grill.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Sure, of course, I.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Mean I will. I will say, not to make you
- 37:47Speaker 3: feel bad, not to rub it in, but you did
- 37:49Speaker 3: miss Piggy and her big shirt.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I know, just read that. I wanted to see the
- 37:52Speaker 1: big shirt my doggy.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Piggy has a shirt and it is a Hawaiian shirt,
- 37:56Speaker 3: and she does look terrific and it fits her like
- 37:57Speaker 3: a glove and she really becomes sort of a different
- 38:01Speaker 3: kind of doggie in the sense that she's like slightly
- 38:05Speaker 3: more gross.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Well, it's a power shirt.
- 38:09Speaker 3: It's a power shirt. She really becomes like a wretched guy. Yeah,
- 38:13Speaker 3: it's sort of like a guy you set a bowling
- 38:15Speaker 3: alley who's been overserved. Yeah. Absolutely, But what was I
- 38:20Speaker 3: gonna say?
- 38:21Speaker 1: We were talking about the fourth of July party, me
- 38:23Speaker 1: not attending.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Right, I was, I was. I was trying to make
- 38:27Speaker 3: you sure shirt, Piggy shirt. You know what, I don't
- 38:30Speaker 3: think it matters, doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Go think about it. I'll go get Bonnie and you
- 38:34Speaker 1: think about maybe try to remember.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Okay, Oh my gosh, oh my goodness, is that the
- 38:43Speaker 3: most wonderful puppy that's ever Oh?
- 38:46Speaker 1: You a little nervous Bonnie is a little nervous. She's
- 38:49Speaker 1: never been on a podcast before.
- 38:51Speaker 3: He can we can sniff. You can sniff the shoes,
- 38:54Speaker 3: you can sniff.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Oh okay, figure, Oh my goodness, Bonnie's a little shy
- 39:04Speaker 1: on Mike, let me see. Could you want to get
- 39:09Speaker 1: up here so you can be on the camera.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Oh, she is the most precious angel. Yes, that is terrific.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Bonnie's appearing on camera for the first time.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Wow, this is the first Bonnie.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the first Bonnie on the podcast.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I am so honored to be part of this moment.
- 39:29Speaker 3: How do you feel holding a microphone and Bonnie?
- 39:32Speaker 1: It's perfect, It's so natural, so natural. Okay, Bonnie, I
- 39:37Speaker 1: think you just need to use the bathroom. Then we'll
- 39:38Speaker 1: go back.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Okay, okay, Well goodbye. You're an angel and you're perfect
- 39:42Speaker 3: and never change. High sweet bean. Oh my goodness, you
- 39:47Speaker 3: have such a wonderful smile. I'm gonna cry. What a
- 39:52Speaker 3: perfect puppy. Have you guys ever seen a puppy so wonderful? O? God,
- 40:00Speaker 3: I love dogs. That was so wonderful.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Okay, for the listener, if you're just listening, just imagine
- 40:11Speaker 1: the perfect angel of the world sitting on my lap
- 40:14Speaker 1: for a minute.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Do you think any of that's gonna make it in?
- 40:17Speaker 1: Oh? Absolutely, some of that. Connor do as what you
- 40:22Speaker 1: need as far as editing and cutting that. But we
- 40:25Speaker 1: should have some Bonnie on camera.
- 40:29Speaker 3: You gotta have Bonnie on cam. She's so fabulous. I really,
- 40:33Speaker 3: just while you were gone, I was talking about how
- 40:35Speaker 3: like a wave of calm washed over after witnessing her.
- 40:38Speaker 3: She's so cute.
- 40:39Speaker 1: She is a perfect woman. Oh and you brought her
- 40:42Speaker 1: a lovely little gift. I did an elephant dressed like
- 40:45Speaker 1: a ballerina.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Actually it was a hippo.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, hippo. Actually, my apologies to the hippo community.
- 40:54Speaker 3: So yeah, did she chew it?
- 40:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course she went crazy for Oh that's
- 40:59Speaker 1: so good. Funny because every toy like that she chews up.
- 41:03Speaker 1: But she has one bowl that's in her crate with
- 41:07Speaker 1: her that is just her roommate. She doesn't rip it apart.
- 41:10Speaker 1: She just sleeps.
- 41:13Speaker 3: That's so nice. You have a special friend. Can I
- 41:18Speaker 3: bring up something that's kind of crazy?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Of course.
- 41:23Speaker 3: I was while you were gone. The first time. I
- 41:26Speaker 3: sort of whispered this to camera, and then I was like,
- 41:28Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm going to bring this up,
- 41:30Speaker 3: but then I am, and I'm just gonna see where
- 41:33Speaker 3: it goes. And part of this you already know, and
- 41:36Speaker 3: then there's another part that you don't know. And I
- 41:39Speaker 3: really want to preface this by saying I mean this
- 41:42Speaker 3: as no. I hope to God this doesn't make you
- 41:47Speaker 3: feel weird or bad in any way. This this ends
- 41:50Speaker 3: in tears. I'm never welcome back. I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 41:54Speaker 3: come out with a gun. Okay, So I sent you
- 41:59Speaker 3: a mess a while ago saying that your podcast made
- 42:04Speaker 3: my sleep rotation. Yes, yes, And I for the listener,
- 42:09Speaker 3: I've had like trouble sleeping for a very long time,
- 42:12Speaker 3: like ten years ago. I started listening to podcasts just
- 42:15Speaker 3: to like wind down at night. And I have sort
- 42:18Speaker 3: of like a queue, like an eight hour cue Oh
- 42:20Speaker 3: my God, all night because I'll routine up and uh
- 42:25Speaker 3: and then I just need to like drift back off
- 42:27Speaker 3: right whatever. And I was like, had been searching a
- 42:30Speaker 3: lot for cause it was tough as I listened to
- 42:32Speaker 3: a lot of comedy podcasts, I listened to a lot
- 42:34Speaker 3: of like research podcasts, but I needed something that was
- 42:36Speaker 3: like something that holds my attention enough that it will
- 42:42Speaker 3: take my mind off of whatever I'm like kind of
- 42:44Speaker 3: spinning out about. But then also not something like so gripping,
- 42:49Speaker 3: like we're doing like a four part series about this
- 42:51Speaker 3: really crazy you know what I mean, like where did
- 42:53Speaker 3: she end up? Where exactly? Welcome back to where'd she
- 42:58Speaker 3: go exactly? And this is the final light that you
- 43:01Speaker 3: learned where she went exactly? So I couldn't do that.
- 43:06Speaker 3: And also with comedy podcasts, it's tough because it's like
- 43:09Speaker 3: it was a really delightful What I'm getting to is
- 43:11Speaker 3: that yours is so perfect because you have a the
- 43:14Speaker 3: most perfect voice in the world. Oh that's very sweet
- 43:17Speaker 3: and b it's like it's it's it's so soothing and
- 43:21Speaker 3: so fun and so lightheart. Anyway, so I was it
- 43:25Speaker 3: was on rotation. It was just it was heavy in
- 43:27Speaker 3: the rotation for for months and months, and I would
- 43:30Speaker 3: just cueue up. I said, no gifts and it was
- 43:32Speaker 3: so great, and then something really crazy happened?
- 43:36Speaker 1: What and I haven't brought this up to Oh I cannot.
- 43:40Speaker 3: You told. I woke up and in like half of
- 43:43Speaker 3: a dream stain and I had to go back and
- 43:46Speaker 3: find it to make sure I wasn't like hallucinating. But
- 43:51Speaker 3: on the podcast, you told a story from my life
- 43:55Speaker 3: that happened to me and Anna about.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Oh my god, of course, oh my lord.
- 44:04Speaker 3: And it's like a really crazy story and it was
- 44:07Speaker 3: really insane to basically, my friend and I were at
- 44:11Speaker 3: a sauna and a woman passed away and.
- 44:14Speaker 1: The most devastating thing I've ever heard.
- 44:16Speaker 3: It was really crazy and in a lot of ways
- 44:19Speaker 3: and so sad, and like, you know what, I'm gonna,
- 44:24Speaker 3: fucking I'm gonna this is We're departing from what I
- 44:27Speaker 3: just said all to say that it was the most
- 44:29Speaker 3: wild experience of my life. Because I was sleeping and
- 44:31Speaker 3: I was like.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Oh, because I'm a podcast, imagine.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Sometimes it makes its way into my dream, right, And
- 44:37Speaker 3: then all of a sudden I was confronted with this like, well,
- 44:40Speaker 3: here's someone else saying something that is like that feels familiar.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Oh no, that happened? Did that happen to me? And
- 44:47Speaker 3: then it's sort of this nightmare situation anyway, so that
- 44:49Speaker 3: I'm and I like, and then I was like Charlie Coughlin, yeah,
- 44:54Speaker 3: And I was like, unfortunately, I don't think listen any
- 44:57Speaker 3: not that I'm like, you're always bringing me up. But
- 44:59Speaker 3: it was just like, oh, it was so crazy.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Imagine.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it was really like I was in a different
- 45:05Speaker 3: orbit basically what happened? Should I tell you? Yeah?
- 45:07Speaker 1: I would love because I didn't have all the details
- 45:09Speaker 1: and I've always been so curious.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Okay, this is crazy, this was awful. Okay. So me
- 45:13Speaker 3: and Anna and Luke went to on a beautiful Monday
- 45:18Speaker 3: night just to unwine. And then we're there from like
- 45:22Speaker 3: eight pm to ten pm or something. We're coming out
- 45:27Speaker 3: and Luke's already in the waiting room waiting for us
- 45:31Speaker 3: to leave, and then we're checking out and there's a
- 45:34Speaker 3: woman with like a face mask on and whatever who
- 45:38Speaker 3: like clearly is like a patron of the sauna, who
- 45:42Speaker 3: is in the middle of begging the front staff for help.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 45:47Speaker 3: And we so we walk in and it's like, please,
- 45:50Speaker 3: please do something, Please you have to do something, please help,
- 45:53Speaker 3: please help. We look at the staff. They are not
- 45:56Speaker 3: looking at her. WHOA, They are not reacting to her. WHOA.
- 46:00Speaker 3: The only thing that we see is them. Eventually, they're like,
- 46:04Speaker 3: we'll get to it. And then and then we're like
- 46:08Speaker 3: we kind of ignore it for a second because we're like,
- 46:10Speaker 3: maybe it's maybe she's like nuts, She's like, my sauna
- 46:17Speaker 3: smells bad. But then she turns to us and she
- 46:22Speaker 3: was like, please, you have to help me. There's someone
- 46:24Speaker 3: who isn't moving in the sauna. Please help, please help,
- 46:28Speaker 3: And then we like look at each other and then
- 46:30Speaker 3: we look at the people the again, the staff aren't
- 46:33Speaker 3: doing anything, so weird, it's crazy, and so then we
- 46:37Speaker 3: go back. She she pulls us back into the sauna
- 46:40Speaker 3: and there was a woman who was in there who
- 46:46Speaker 3: had passed away, and we uh, like we took her
- 46:51Speaker 3: pulse and you know, like she had been clearly like
- 46:56Speaker 3: had been. What was really awful was that we had
- 46:59Speaker 3: seen her. I mean, the whole thing was awful, but
- 47:02Speaker 3: we had seen her alive. Oh when we were in
- 47:05Speaker 3: the summer, Yeah, and like she was just you know, great,
- 47:09Speaker 3: and she was just hanging out and having a nice time,
- 47:12Speaker 3: like chilling. She had a little caddy and right, you know,
- 47:14Speaker 3: it was like clearly like a like a veteran, right,
- 47:18Speaker 3: a goer and uh and so okay, so if that's
- 47:23Speaker 3: not bad enough, so we're we're there. We have like
- 47:28Speaker 3: taken the pulse of this woman. And this is also
- 47:30Speaker 3: after like slowly approaching her like ten minutes has gone
- 47:34Speaker 3: by between us like confirming that this woman has passed,
- 47:38Speaker 3: and like when we were in the front lobby and
- 47:41Speaker 3: this woman was screaming for help right right, So there's
- 47:44Speaker 3: a lot of time here. After we confirm that she's passed.
- 47:49Speaker 3: One employee walks back slowly huh and sort of warily right,
- 47:56Speaker 3: and I and another patron because there's like six women
- 48:02Speaker 3: look at her and we're like, call nine one one
- 48:04Speaker 3: right now. And then we watch her turn around and
- 48:09Speaker 3: walk out. Who we're not running, we're not even jogging
- 48:14Speaker 3: what She comes back three times and we and we
- 48:19Speaker 3: say in English and in Spanish, you need to call
- 48:21Speaker 3: nine one one right now. So it's like there's no
- 48:24Speaker 3: way that there was any confusion. And then basically oh
- 48:30Speaker 3: and then, uh, what else happened? So then we're they
- 48:35Speaker 3: eventually call nine one one. It took too long, I
- 48:38Speaker 3: would say. And then meanwhile, no one from the staff
- 48:43Speaker 3: has done anything to even put up a partition to
- 48:49Speaker 3: put up to take control of the situation, because there's
- 48:51Speaker 3: other people in this Yeah, of course, so there's women
- 48:54Speaker 3: that are coming out of like just getting massages or
- 48:56Speaker 3: whatever the sauna that this woman is in. This body.
- 49:02Speaker 3: So me and Anna are and these other women have
- 49:07Speaker 3: taken it upon ourselves to like notify everyone else in
- 49:11Speaker 3: the changing room in the sauna. We're blocking off the area.
- 49:16Speaker 3: We are telling women like, hey, there's gonna be like
- 49:19Speaker 3: firemen and policemen that are coming back here in probably
- 49:23Speaker 3: twenty minutes. Everyone needs everyone's naked. So we're like, you
- 49:26Speaker 3: need to change the criers. And so we just like
- 49:31Speaker 3: completely took control.
- 49:32Speaker 1: You're now managing the spa, managing.
- 49:35Speaker 3: The spa, and so, you know, so all of that happens.
- 49:40Speaker 3: We're back there. You know, it's probably forty minutes or whatever.
- 49:44Speaker 3: We talked to the fire department, we talked to the
- 49:46Speaker 3: police for a little bit. We finally leave. It's like
- 49:50Speaker 3: also hitting us that, like we have discovered a body
- 49:53Speaker 3: and it's horrible and what a terrible sad thing this is.
- 49:57Speaker 3: So now, like that sort of trauma is like setting
- 49:59Speaker 3: up and we're starting to like cry and shake and
- 50:02Speaker 3: leaving the sauna. And guess what happens when we try
- 50:06Speaker 3: to leave. They say that'll be forty dollars.
- 50:09Speaker 1: This to me was the biggest, the biggest error of all.
- 50:13Speaker 3: They'll say that'll be forty dollars.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Unbelievable. I say, what what.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Sorry, what what is that? It's forty dollars? Do you
- 50:23Speaker 3: mean you're gonna give me forty dollars? What do you mean?
- 50:26Speaker 3: And then the guy was so disrespectful, and I was like,
- 50:30Speaker 3: I was like, we just we just saw a body.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Like we were so shell shot, of course that I
- 50:35Speaker 3: didn't even have it in me to because normally I like, yeah,
- 50:39Speaker 3: you'd be like well no, I'll be like you fuck you.
- 50:42Speaker 3: But I was so we were so out of it,
- 50:44Speaker 3: and I was like, there's a body that we just
- 50:46Speaker 3: saw a body, and he was like, yeah, it'll be
- 50:48Speaker 3: forty dollars, was so cold, didn't ask if we were okay,
- 50:51Speaker 3: didn't check up, We pay for it. We leave, and
- 50:56Speaker 3: then Luke has been in the lobby the entire time,
- 50:58Speaker 3: and then we we check in with him. He's like
- 50:59Speaker 3: the woman who was initially asking for help was out
- 51:02Speaker 3: there for.
- 51:02Speaker 1: A while, who knows how long?
- 51:05Speaker 3: Who knows.
- 51:07Speaker 1: So then so then we leave.
- 51:11Speaker 3: This is a this is sort of a saga. It's okay,
- 51:13Speaker 3: oh yeah, of course, okay, okay. So then afterwards we're
- 51:17Speaker 3: so shaken up, and it's like one of those things
- 51:19Speaker 3: that's like so traumatic. But then you started to think
- 51:21Speaker 3: about it and you're like, wait, no, that's completely insane, right,
- 51:24Speaker 3: what an outrageous thing that no one took control, no
- 51:26Speaker 3: one seemed to care. All of it felt very disrespectful
- 51:30Speaker 3: to both the person who passed and also all of
- 51:33Speaker 3: the other patrons, where you're just not there's no protocol
- 51:36Speaker 3: for this. So then we leave, So we leave a
- 51:40Speaker 3: Google review. So I step, I put on my combat
- 51:44Speaker 3: boots and I put on my bereat, and I take
- 51:48Speaker 3: to the computer. And well, so me and Luke actually
- 51:51Speaker 3: we we we leave Google reviews and.
- 51:55Speaker 1: And did you like lay out the situation in the reviews?
- 51:57Speaker 3: Kind of? I kind of wanted to be sort of
- 52:01Speaker 3: respectful because it's like, this is like a person who passed,
- 52:05Speaker 3: but then also, you know, but also fuck this place,
- 52:07Speaker 3: you know. Luke was actually more oh yeah, no, no,
- 52:10Speaker 3: So I think the three of us did. Within minutes,
- 52:15Speaker 3: we all get really threatening, like legal threatening nails that
- 52:21Speaker 3: are really long, right, that are very clearly like they
- 52:26Speaker 3: are trying to intimidate us into silence. And they used
- 52:29Speaker 3: like vague legal jargon that had no like I'm not
- 52:34Speaker 3: a lawyer, I'm a cartoonist. I don't know nothing about Nathan,
- 52:37Speaker 3: but I looked at it and I was like, that
- 52:38Speaker 3: doesn't make sense because they said something about like you
- 52:41Speaker 3: are utilizing anti slap something something slapp right, which is
- 52:46Speaker 3: something that means I think anti slap law is applied
- 52:53Speaker 3: to like it doesn't even matter. It's not applicable to
- 52:55Speaker 3: the situation at all. Okay, okay, it's something that happens
- 52:58Speaker 3: after a lawsuit, like you can not candor someone if
- 53:02Speaker 3: they have proven that you are right. Right, if you
- 53:06Speaker 3: said I have a tentacle leg and I took you
- 53:08Speaker 3: to court and I said, no, I don't, here's proof, and.
- 53:11Speaker 1: They could no longer keep saying yes, that's my anti slap.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Well I think okay.
- 53:15Speaker 3: Anyway, so it was just like you're just sort of
- 53:18Speaker 3: and it also felt very copy paste.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Us probably happened before so so.
- 53:26Speaker 3: So I the Google review stays up because they're like
- 53:29Speaker 3: take it down. No, no, no, the Google review stays up.
- 53:34Speaker 3: This is where it gets like quite sad. I get
- 53:37Speaker 3: a message from someone through the Google review who responds
- 53:42Speaker 3: and says, I am the son of the woman. Oh
- 53:47Speaker 3: really terrible. I'm the son of the woman who was
- 53:50Speaker 3: found at the SPA. Here is my number. I would
- 53:53Speaker 3: like to talk to you. So for the next couple
- 53:56Speaker 3: of months, I am in touch with this woman's family
- 53:59Speaker 3: and they're awesome and but they I you know, I
- 54:04Speaker 3: gave I talked to them, I talked to their lawyer.
- 54:07Speaker 3: I learned a lot about her. She seemed so amazing
- 54:10Speaker 3: and great and like and it was something that I
- 54:14Speaker 3: I cause I didn't want to put the fear of
- 54:16Speaker 3: God in them. I was like, listen, like, I can
- 54:18Speaker 3: give you my account. I don't know if your mother
- 54:22Speaker 3: had a condition. I don't know. You know it's ASAUA
- 54:24Speaker 3: and you do sign a wave right, right, and that
- 54:26Speaker 3: is real. But the fact of the matter is is
- 54:28Speaker 3: that I'm thirty two. Anna's however old Stanna is young.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I've heard she's like in her mid seventies.
- 54:35Speaker 3: She's mid seventies. Anna is ninety six. And we were
- 54:40Speaker 3: in the hot tub for about ten minutes and both
- 54:42Speaker 3: of us got so light headed we had to get
- 54:43Speaker 3: out right something. So it's sort of unusually high temperature
- 54:47Speaker 3: in my opinion. Not only that, but usually at these
- 54:50Speaker 3: places there are staff members of course checking in on people.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Yes, because it is kind of a dangerous thing. You
- 54:57Speaker 1: were going to fall awa, you me? People, Yeah, keeping
- 54:59Speaker 1: checking in, we spaw.
- 55:00Speaker 3: It's constant. People are constantly opening this on a doors,
- 55:03Speaker 3: checking in. There's timers.
- 55:05Speaker 1: You know.
- 55:05Speaker 3: There was not a single staff member back there for
- 55:08Speaker 3: the entire time we were there. So I told them
- 55:12Speaker 3: this the family, and I was just like listen, like
- 55:14Speaker 3: if it were my mom, I would want to know,
- 55:17Speaker 3: like what's like. They seemed very under they were very
- 55:21Speaker 3: underprepared for this. My experience was that it felt unusually
- 55:26Speaker 3: warm and there was nobody checking in right, so you know,
- 55:30Speaker 3: and so anyway, we kept in contact. She was like
- 55:35Speaker 3: sending me pictures of her mom, and she was just
- 55:37Speaker 3: like the best. It was really very and it like,
- 55:40Speaker 3: I don't know, it was just very like humanity can
- 55:43Speaker 3: be really nice sometimes. It was just like they were
- 55:45Speaker 3: just like a really beautiful family, and I felt so
- 55:47Speaker 3: terrible for them with a horrible tragedy, but I just
- 55:49Speaker 3: learned a lot about this woman and she seemed awesome anyway.
- 55:54Speaker 3: And what I did get to tell them was like, well,
- 55:56Speaker 3: if if there's anything I can say is that your
- 55:59Speaker 3: mother died very peacefully, and she looked like incredibly relaxed.
- 56:05Speaker 3: I mean, I know, that's like a kind of a
- 56:06Speaker 3: crazy thing to say, but it was right. She was
- 56:08Speaker 3: like literally like chilling and had her caddy and was
- 56:11Speaker 3: in asana and was very peaceful. It was very I
- 56:13Speaker 3: don't know, it was at some whatever anyway. Anyway, Uh
- 56:18Speaker 3: so I talked to the lawyer. This is the lot.
- 56:20Speaker 3: I'm wrapping up the last thing that I told. I
- 56:23Speaker 3: don't know where the case is at. Now what I
- 56:26Speaker 3: learn this is not the first time this has happened.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Of course, there are active investigations. Wow, whoa, I'm glad
- 56:34Speaker 3: this is on Patreon. I don't I know.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Listener, please be discreet about the whole staff is the listeners.
- 56:45Speaker 3: But it was like it's it's really not good over there,
- 56:50Speaker 3: and uh yeah, so this is not the first time.
- 56:53Speaker 3: It probably won't be the last time. And I think
- 56:54Speaker 3: that place should be shut.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy. Hopefully the city is getting involved.
- 56:59Speaker 3: I hope.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Oh what a thing to have been through.
- 57:03Speaker 3: So there I was sleeping and then I hear.
- 57:06Speaker 1: You hear like the loosest retelling of the story possible
- 57:11Speaker 1: me like grasping for details, just deeply inaccurate that nicely, No,
- 57:21Speaker 1: it was it was.
- 57:21Speaker 3: It was really it was really kind of a crazy experience,
- 57:23Speaker 3: but by no means was it. Like I guess it
- 57:26Speaker 3: was scary because I was.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Sleep Yeah, and like my retelling is probably kind of
- 57:29Speaker 1: like the weird, nightmarish version of right, It's like, well,
- 57:31Speaker 1: this is kind of the details, they're just in a
- 57:33Speaker 1: weird order.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Well, I mean you did kind of tell a ghost story,
- 57:36Speaker 3: which is I think how you tell a story like that?
- 57:37Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's so scary. So unfair to you anyway,
- 57:43Speaker 1: Well wild look, speaking of egregious behavior. Oh no, there
- 57:48Speaker 1: is something. This is a good pivot for story, Katie.
- 57:54Speaker 1: I was excited to have you here on the podcast today.
- 57:56Speaker 3: I was so thrilled.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I was so happy you were going to do it.
- 57:59Speaker 1: I adore. I thought we would have a nice conversation
- 58:01Speaker 1: and we would move on with our days. So I
- 58:03Speaker 1: was a little surprised when you came kind of just
- 58:07Speaker 1: trotting into my house holding what could not more clearly
- 58:11Speaker 1: be a gift. The podcast is called, I said, no gifts, Right,
- 58:16Speaker 1: do you have any explanations this for me? I don't know.
- 58:19Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Listen. I you're right, So I want to start there
- 58:26Speaker 3: and say that you are completely valid in your feeling.
- 58:28Speaker 1: And you're running theme in this podcasting right, very right,
- 58:34Speaker 1: So I have I would say, I guess I would
- 58:39Speaker 1: challenge that it's a gift and maybe.
- 58:42Speaker 3: More of a forget me not.
- 58:45Speaker 1: I love forgetting me, not forget me not.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Yes, and and but you know, but I do think
- 58:52Speaker 3: I bent the rules.
- 58:54Speaker 1: Well, should I open it here on the podcast?
- 58:56Speaker 2: Yes?
- 58:56Speaker 3: Please, if that's okay with you?
- 58:58Speaker 1: If I sure, well, yeah, will bend the rules once once,
- 59:03Speaker 1: no one tell any other guests. It's in kind of
- 59:08Speaker 1: this gorgeous gift bag, this brown Starbucks bag.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yes, I ordered a coffee beforehand, and I said, what.
- 59:15Speaker 1: A fabulous Yeah, perfect, Okay, I'm reaching in Okay. Oh
- 59:19Speaker 1: now it's wrapped in a crunchy brown paper.
- 59:21Speaker 3: That's right, be careful now, it's delicate. Oh it is.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a heart it.
- 59:28Speaker 3: Oh isn't that the most wonderful thing you've seen? Can
- 59:35Speaker 3: you believe it?
- 59:36Speaker 1: It's a little yellow pig taxi cab. It's almost impossible
- 59:40Speaker 1: to describe as a salt or pepper shaker. And it's
- 59:44Speaker 1: a taxi cab that's kind of bent purposefully. Yeah, it
- 59:49Speaker 1: looks like it's been in a car accident. Actually it's
- 59:51Speaker 1: a cracked window, yes. And then it has a pig driver, yes,
- 59:56Speaker 1: who is also coincidentally the same color as the tech
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: he kept, so he almost looks like he's part of
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: part of it. It's kind of a freakish monster. And
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: it's absolutely adorable.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Isn't it the most delightful thing you've seen ever?
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: Come from? Okay?
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: Well so so the reason why it's all okay? So
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: it came from an antique store in uh outside of Bakersfield.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: I went Whitewater Rafting recently and we went to like
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: a little shop. It was two peas and anse and
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: I love like little I call them faw fast little
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: goo goos, you know, love this sort of bullshit, you know.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: And so this is this is one of a pair.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: I have the other one.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Oh, this is now we're bonded.
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: And this is a forget me not because so yes,
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: it's a saltan and or pepper shaker. I bought two sets.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: So this is a pig in a taxi, and then
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: there was another one that was pigs playing the flute,
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: and I just thought these are so fantastic. But you
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: know what's interesting about these is that you would think
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: the way that the because so for the less it's like, yeah,
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: the pig is hanging out of the taxi, he's got
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: like a wry little smile on him. He's done something naughty.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: You imagine what he's done is he's crashed the taxi
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: because the hood is like bent up in a kind
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: of crazy way. But because it's like a salt and
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: pepper shaker, you would imagine what's the other one.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: The matching thing. I would imagine whatever he's run into.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Maybe it's a dumpster with another pig peaking out, that
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: he's run into a tree that is now splintered. Another car.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: That's so creative and such a better, better thing than
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: what it actually is, which is an identical thiss. It's identical.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: They don't even it's not even the opposite. They don't
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: even like, Okay, well, surely they're gonna like where the
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: hoods bend, they're gonna touch, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Of course they face the exact same way and kind.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Of pushed together. Ultimately totally.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Nor is there an indication of whether or not it's
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: salt or pepper.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Oh no, I would you just have to guess I
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: wonder if salt if the holes indicates I've never thought
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: about that.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: That's so smart, Bridger, they're the same holes three, because
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I think you're right totally, it's the.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: Same holes, right, I mean, there are so many options
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: this could have been, Like the pepper could have been
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: like a pig body. Yeah, it's run over, you met,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: you know, so it's obviously a New York pig. So
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: may like a fire hydrant that's been tipped over, totally
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: coming out of it. Yeah, but they've just got the
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: identical thing. Yeah, they've just got baffling.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: I mean I have because I've been keeping them on
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: my desk because I'm like, I don't know what to
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: do with the right you know. I mean, I think
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: they're fantastic. I really think it's like kind of the
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: most bizarre Salter pepper shaker thing I've ever seen. Yeah,
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: I don't know what to make heads or tails of it,
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: because it's just sort of like, why have it crash
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: in a weird shape like that if you're not going.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: To like complete right, what's the story?
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: That's the story here? But I just thought it was like, yeah,
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: I think regardless, it's so confusing, But I find it
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: to be so precious and charming. And I I thought
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: to myself, I know how much you And and for
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: the listener, Bridgard just did.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Something that I had to complete.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: It stopped my heart, which was that he so he
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: rested the pig in the taxi salt and pepper shaker
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: on his laptop and then sort of nuzzled his black
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: raspberry lacroix just gently against it, so that actually it
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: completes the scene. Folks, the pig driving the taxi has
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: crashed into the lacroix, and.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Of course he did. He was probably distracted by this
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: giant can of sparkling lass, I said.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: And then you know, he said, the cans of water
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: should not be that big. You know, I've seen a
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: lot in my day as a pig taxi driver, but
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: that is a first.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: This is me doing someone's job for them exactly.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: And he said, also, honey, black raspberry, what that means? Honey?
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: What what do you mean by that? What's that taste like?
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: Is it black or ras?
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: And he's not getting a sip.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Well, so I guess my challenge to you is and
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: this is not usually part of it, but I was
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: thinking out loud listen. I know that you hate gifts,
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: but are you really mad looking at this little I.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Couldn't possibly do. This is one of these you know,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: the amount of gifts I get on this podcast is
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: other worldly at this point. Sure, so many of them
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: just end up in my garage because they can't be
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: in a home, an adult home, or it just starts
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: to look like you're gathering garbage. This is going to
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: go on the kitchen counter.
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: I'm so.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I have several ideas already.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Oh my, I mean, I just think it's so homey,
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: it's so sweettas mine's on my work desk. And I
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: bet if you fill it up with salt and I
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: fill up mine with pepper or whatever, and we use it,
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: I bet one of us our hands will start to
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: roll or something. Something will happen.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there'll be some mind meld of like one
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: of us will be like, oh my god, their food
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: isn't seasoned correctly.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and then it's like I'm hungry and I
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: got a call Bridger. Yeah yeah, that's really.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: What They're so happy about this. And you went whitewater
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: rafting before getting it, I did. Can you believe for
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: the first time? Yes, how was that?
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: You know, it was really it was truly extremely fun.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Oh jealous, it was really fun. It was a couple's trip. Okay,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: we hadn't gone really on a proper couples trip. It
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: was us and our friends Carry and Joey and and
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: they're fantastic and we love them so much, and you know,
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: it's always like, it's not I didn't feel like we
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: were taking a gamble with them because they're so easy
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: right to hang out with. But you you're always like,
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: what's gonna happen?
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: You never know people's vacation styles. Is that nuts all
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: over the place.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Have you ever had like one go seriously awry?
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Thank God?
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: No?
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: But it could happen at any moment. You never know people,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I mean the moment you go on a vacation with
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: a stranger, yeah, or not a stranger, a friend who
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: you have never done it with.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: It could be a full experience, ruining thing completely because
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: people just do different things completely.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: And I also like, I mean, maybe it's easier with
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: couples because it's so much more natural to branch off
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: and do your couple right on t to take a
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: three hour break or we're actually getting on a walk
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: or whatever. Group trips I think is really the ground zero.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Oh, of course toxic the things that can happen with
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: a group of people. Uh, and tensions are you know,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: while traveling are high peoples, they're less savory. Qualities can
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: come out. Yes, And then with a group trip you
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: can start bonding against each other. Oh, you can form
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Oh my god, I mean it becomes survival.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: It can become survivor and alliances.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: And alliances happened, and then that could end friendships.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: It makes me like my heart is like palpatator.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Have you had a bad one?
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Yes? Absolutely?
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Oh god, yeah, really tough to end a friendship? Yeah, Actually,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: can you say where it was or will it give away?
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: I can't imagine that this is going to make it
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: back to the person. Okay, it could actually No, it
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: doesn't matter. I don't care. Yeah. Yeah, it happened in
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: New Orleans.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Oh and it should be such a good time. I know,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: just a good time. I've been watching Secret Lives of
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: Mormon wives and they just went to New Orleans on
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: a girl's trip. What happened did not go well?
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: You were like, it went perfect? I ever seen It's
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: like little house on the Prairie that episode of Realize
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: of Mormon lines a sort of Christian No.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: They played pregnancy roulette, which I don't know if I
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: wasn't aware of.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: This, missus Ransom.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I mean, these are all women like essentially thirty and
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: under who are desperate to be pregnant at all times
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: having children, and for whatever reason they decided to play
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: pregnancy roulette, which is you get pregnancy tests and then
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: everybody peace on them, you know, well of course, and
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: then they like put them in a you put them
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: in a jar and then pull them out one by
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: one to see if someone in the group is pregnant.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: But it remains anonymous.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: Baffling, that's not that is absolutely not a thing that
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: exists anywhere else outside of that ship.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: I can't imagine why would you do the show?
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Unwell? Also, like also just even hygienically speaking, the jar
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: of pissed on Oh and you're reaching in no.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Get your favorite snacks as well food.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: Yeah, you've got the mixed nuts here, and you've got
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: the peepe sticks there, and then it's sort of like, oh,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: one of us is pregnant, okay, and it's sort of
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: like so then it's like, well, I guess they're Mormon,
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: so they don't drink.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: No, they well, it's unclear with this group of people. Yeah,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: that's kind of their secret life. And one of them,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: I mean, meanwhile, I'm like, this show is so dangerous
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: for these people because one of them has been struggling
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: with fertility and just like trying to get pregnant. She
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: is my least favorite character on the show, and I
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: do hate her, but in this moment, she ye, you know,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: He're like, it's a compelling you know, Oh my god, Like,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: how could this person? Like why are they doing this
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: to this person?
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: Should I watch this?
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Literally impossible for me to say at this point, I'm
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: going to say, yes, okay, what guided you to that?
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: I think, especially for someone who didn't grow up in
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: that culture, is fascinating totally because it's just unlike any
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: other behavior. Do you see adults they're not quite adults,
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I guess, because they're all quite young, but they're the
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: arrested development going on.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: Completely.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: It's all very strange.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: I guess I'm sort of realizing in real time that
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: I think I did watch the first few episodes of
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: the first season because this is a new show, yes, right,
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: and this is like the one that's like the big
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: like who who. At the beginning is that there was
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: like a thing online where they they're TikTok.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Yes, and they're all like, maybe there was just swingers
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: scandal which haunts them for the apparently the rest of
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: their lives.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: And was that real or is that something that I
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: have to continue.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: To be a mystery. I'll be honest. There you get
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: more and more details, but everybody's story is different, and
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: my my grand theory is that none of them has
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: any idea what swinging even is.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: It's like that's the thing, right, It's like maybe one
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: one kissed.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Someone, right, That's where it's like. At one point, I
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: think they do bring up spin the bottle.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: I literally was about to say spin the bottle as
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: a bit. It's so crazy, it's.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Like Disney brain, yeah yeah. But then another one claims
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: they were all showering together. So it's like we're big
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: swings between behaviors. But I don't know that we'll ever
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: really know what happened within the swinging community in Utah
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: with these gals. My guess is somewhere in between, you
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: know what, I'm gonna watch watch it and let me
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: know you think I will, well, I think we should
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: play a game. Okay, we'll play a game called Gifter
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: a Curse. Okay, so let me get our game pieces here.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Do you have anything to currently promote? No, people should
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: be following you on social media?
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Sure, yeah, I mean I listen. I'm at Katie kat
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Y Official FI s H E l L on Instagram.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: I have a defunct cartoon account called at sex Underscore
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: is underscore weird.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: I'm worth checking out for sure.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Both are worth checking out. Absolutely. I have an updated
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: that cartoon account about three years. But I do cartoons,
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: I do animations, and I'm currently working on a book
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: that will be out goodness, gracious, who knows when.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: I can't imagine?
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: And that's that's about it.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: I would say, everybody type Katie Fisher into wherever you
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: want and just go crazy. Just okay, this is how
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: we play Gift or Curse. I'm going to name three things.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: You'll tell me if they're a gift or a curse
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: and why. Okay, I'll t if you're right or wrong,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: because there are correct ants, totally all right. This first
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: one is from a listener named Matt. Gift or a
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Curse car, d excuse me, gift you a curse car
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: decals that say mommy AF or daddy AF.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Curse why? Because that's insane. It's it's the same thing
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: as any sort of I feel strongly about any bumper
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: sticker with an attitude, any sort of like to me,
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: that's like honestly akin to like a sort of slick
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: and a girl big boob, you know, in the window.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I just think it's like, why would you why? That's
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: the first impression, right right, and maybe the only impression.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: Maybe the only impression, Am I right?
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Correct?
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: That's okay. I was so scared of like I don't
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: know you at all.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: I can't look. I have a lot of opinions and
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: a lot of thoughts and a lot of things, but
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: a mommy AF or daddy AF who it's And it's
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: also the new culture of trying to put attitude on
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: being a parent, That's what I'm saying, which is so annoying.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: That's what that's referring to, you know.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: I think it's like kind of trying to be like
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: I'm a mother, which shows this weird insecurity about being
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: a parent. I think where it's just like, well, you
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: made the choice own it. Don't try to turn it
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: into your new edgy. That's lifestyle real.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: I guess you know what. I guess because of the
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: af of it all, it felt young enough and internety
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: enough that I thought it was like weird kink stuff.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Oh and it could be. It could be, which is
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: still annoying on it as a bumper sticker.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: And why would you ever want to even blur those lines?
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: If you have like your sweet precious sun in the
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: back right going on your first like Easter Sunday trip,
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: why would you ever want you?
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: And I totally agree.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: It's like this, like, isn't it so ironic that I'm
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: a dad?
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: No? No, it's not.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: You made a choice deal with this.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Yes, you're raising a human being at this point. Please,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: you have some level of earnestness.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: You have to just take this seriously.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Yes, And you're absolutely correct there, I will say there,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: How do you feel about new I feel like there's
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: been like a bumper sticker renaissance, where like there are
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: new bumper stickers where like sometimes I'll find myself like, oh,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: that is a good bumper sticker. For example, I think
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: someone that drives around Highland Park has one that I
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: think says why litter shove it up your ass?
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: Oh that's nice, which is just sure.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: And occasionally there's one where I'm like, I feel like
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: there's one where it says something about like the whole
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: car is being run by a team of rats.
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: Oh yeah. Sometimes I'm like, well, maybe there's some decent
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: bumper stickers if you think of the key honking I'm
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: listening to, and then like a very specific we've done
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: it too much, it's over.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think if we're going to do keep honking,
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: we need a whole new variation. I agree, but I
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: think that there have been and I think we're kind
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: of we need to put that one back on the shelf.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Keep honking. I literally have a gun in my mouth
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: and my hand is shaking and my fingers on the trigger,
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: and if you do it one more time, I might
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: do it. Just do what I dare you keep honking?
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Yes, my thought was keep honking. My mom died last summer,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: and I just can handle anything at this point. I think, yeah,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: if you're gonna go, you have to really get into
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: life details, you know.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: I do like a bumper sticker that's long in a
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: big overshare. Yes, I think that's pretty nice.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Maybe that's the new category. Yeah, but yeah, bumper stickers.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I'll never have one. I don't think I'll ever have
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: a bumper sticker. No, but okay, you got that one correct.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Number two. This is from Brittany Gift or a curse.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: When the restaurant cashier asks if you want sauce, you
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: say no, only to find multiple sauces in the bag
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: of food anyway.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: Gift why, because, I mean, I think it really depends
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: on what we're doing here, you know, if this is
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: like a fry or.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: You know, I think you know what you know.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: Here's their actual reason. And this is maybe just a
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: me thing, but sometimes I panic in situations like that,
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: and I'm like, I don't want to be difficult. I'll
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: do the shortest way out of this. Yes, no, thank you,
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: have a nice day. And then I'm eating something and
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: I'm like, God, I wish I had a sauce, even
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: just to have the option. And also even if the
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: thing that I'm eating doesn't require a sauce, Guess where
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: that sauce is going, right in the fridge.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Guess what I'm making the next day something that that
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: sauce will go nicely on? Am I right or am
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: I wrong?
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Correct?
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Ah?
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Oh it's a kif. How could you possibly think this
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: is a curse? This is very Grandma energy. Whoever is
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: giving you the extra sauces is looking out for you exactly.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: They're seeing there like I actually know what you need.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like the note in the lunchbox completely.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's such a it's a real sweet gesture. They
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: see what you need. The cashier, anyone in charge of
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: a sauce ultimately knows better than you totally. Why would
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: you complain about that you got a free little X
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: or something for the fridge or potentially to experiment with
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: your food? Yes? Who cares? That's a gift, a game
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: they're playing with you. Okay, you've gone too so far,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: very nice And where is the final one?
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Here?
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Wow? I've highlight these in a way that is almost blinding.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I'll be honest. Okay, Oh here we go. Here it is.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: This is from a listener named Ruth Gift or a Curse,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: beginning a social media post with here's the thing curse correct?
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Why would you have to say anything else?
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Why would you I would say any one of those
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: camp sort of like like when you when you post
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: like a best friend and you start a long post
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: with this one, oh you know what.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: I mean, or like I don't normally uh huh, you know,
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: not to be too emotional or whatever, to be abundantly clear, to.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: Be abundantly clear.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Uh, what's what other ones are there? You've said this
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: one a lot.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: Of people have, or like they're recently. I mean, of
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: course like that, there's been a lot of allegations.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: But yeah, I feel like there are so many of
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: those where and there's always like who was ground zero?
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Who's the first person that type this? That was just
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: like here's what I'm thinking, yes, and then it caught
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: on the post went viral, and then suddenly that phrases
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: just somebody thinks, oh, this is how you speak, this
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: is how you would announced, this is how you write
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: a post.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: Which was the one that Ruth said, here's the thing,
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: here's the thing.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Oh, shut up, what do you think that's that's in
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: reference to let's see, here's the thing, here's the thing.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: And yeah, there's like a particular type of posts that
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: this here's the thing, and it usually isn't the thing.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: It's like, it's not It's like it doesn't really mean
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: it's a meaningless beginning to a total like it's like memish.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: We need to find a way to describe the sort
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: of Internet language where yeah, it is almost a meme,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: right right, here's the thing. And then it would be like.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: I feel like it's like a rant. It's it's a
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: it's a it's a ramp.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Into into some annoying opinion.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: I don't normally feel this way about the taco stand,
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: but they got they gave me extra sauce and I
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: specifically said none. And as someone who is very mindful
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: about food waste, you know what I mean, it's like,
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: here's the thing.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Yeah. And also beginning any post, no post should be
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: more than two sentences anyway, So if you're saying here's
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: the thing, and that having to lay out a bunch
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: of stuff, get a substack or something so we can
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: orre you folly.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Unless it's like here's the thing, I'm engaged.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: I do feel like there are a lot of here's
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: the thing where it's like I don't like this and
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: blah blah blah, and then it like becomes like a
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: tribute to somebody about their personality or how cool they are.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: Totally, so lame, totally, and I find it's like I
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: don't even I the only times I will read and
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: really like interact with a very long you know, onslaught
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: of whatever is like death posts of any kind of course, right,
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: it's like, yeah, like and there's and there are people
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: have mixed feelings about that, and I understand why because
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: it's like the question of who's it for? But it's like,
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: I don't know. I think in this day and age,
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: you want to let people know something that.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and I also think that that is ultimately just
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: for the person too. Yeah.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Sometimes you especially with really serious things, it's like do
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: whatever you need to do.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: I agree. It's it's like, you know, it's I've only
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: had to do that once in my life. But it
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: was like, I don't know, cathartic nice and you're sharing
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: and it's communal and whatever. But anyway, it's like you know,
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: pets like people whatever. It's like, I really, you know,
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: I'm down for it and I read it and it's
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: sweet and it's nice and it's like a moment out
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: of your day where you sit with that person or
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: that pet anyway, but you can't be saying like an opinion,
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: and you can't just be talking.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: About a memory, right, And the other thing about here's
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: the thing is I kind of like that phrase. I
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: think when it properly use, I feel like it's like
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: a tough person to you. You know, somebody's really tough
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: when they're saying here's the thing, and then they're telling you, yeah,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: it's like a good aunt or uncle pulling you aside.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Here's the thing. Yeah, giving you some information. But if
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: it's my cousin, shut up, shut up, you got it.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: I don't want to see here's the thing. On Instagram
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: here's the thing.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: And it's like a picture of them like walking through
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: a meadow and it's like the saturation's really weird, and
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: they have like a white dress and like cowboy boots.
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: There's like a chain link fence, you know what I mean.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: It's like, we are not doing that here's the thing.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: I don't usually mix formal in the Western.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: Left, but today, on this Wednesday, I said, I actually
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: said it's time. And actually every year I feel like
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: I've become more and more of myself and I just
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: want to honor that because I feel like as women,
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: as women also as women, sorry, as women. As a woman,
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: I can say, I mean genuinely, it's like, we gotta
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: get away from it. We can't be doing these like
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: stamp No, it diminishes everything you have to say. Yeah,
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: I will say, you want to know what's really delicious?
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: When you're talking shit and someone says, here's the thing.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, of course, here's the thing. Oh yeah, Oh yeah.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: Dude, I was just out. This is not at all
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: what we're talking about. But I was just out at
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: dinner and we all realized it at the same time
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: that we all had the same shared dislike for someone,
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: and I haven't had that in so long.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: The best. Oh my god, I'm gonna we have to
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: circle back after the recording. I doubt if I know
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: this person.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: I doubt you did.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Oh okay, but you might. Okay for the full circle, okay,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: and we should wrap up for everyone, But I do
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I'm quickly going to say along those lines when I
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: want to. If I've heard a story about someone I hate,
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: or if I've heard gossip about somebody, I text another friend,
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Yes have you heard about blank? And the first And
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: I'm not a big lol person, not really into it
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: at all, But if somebody responds to that question with
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: lowercase lol. My heart sores. Oh, because it's like that
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: they know exactly what I'm talking about and they're ready
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: to get into it.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: Oh my god, it is the most It's like, the
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: lowercase lol is the most like I see you, I
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: see you, and I have so much to say. It's
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: not interesting the way that language develops that way. Yes,
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: it's really like who buddy, Oh, I got something for you.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: Oh my god, so satisfying. It's like a warm bath. Yeah.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Oh well, we're not going to answer. We've answered every
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: question we possibly could today.
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: I think, so what a Delighttie.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: I'm so glad you could do the podcask you so much.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: I truly had a blast. Bonnie was here.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: What this is such a fully formed episode. This is
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: easily I would say, a top five episode of the
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: whole show, get out top five.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: Do you say this to everyone?
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: No? Absolutely, I want to start telling people this is
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: a bottom three and.
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: Maybe you should step it up in the future, and
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: maybe you should get it together and you should work
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: on you. Here's the thing.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Here's the thing. We're deleting the audio.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: We're putting a different guest.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: No, Oh my god, I knew you would be fantastic.
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: I had so much fun.
