Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Two grown men having a phone conversation about heartbreak, g loss,
- 0:09Speaker 1: bad friends, hurtful women. Our host Greg Hughes drives in
- 0:13Speaker 1: the rain with one of the Ways Ladies screaming out
- 0:16Speaker 1: clear verbal direction to his destination. Our co host Carl Luz,
- 0:21Speaker 1: the Mad Cuban, hastag fat batman, alone in his creepy
- 0:26Speaker 1: cabin somewhere in New Jersey, awaits his guest a little
- 0:30Speaker 1: small talk car, troubles, weathers, shit, a heart to heart
- 0:34Speaker 1: in the rain while driving with a GPS monitor on
- 0:38Speaker 1: mind you vaguely giving the coordinates of the creepy cabin.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Now you might be asking, is this gonna suck? Well, yeah,
- 0:46Speaker 2: but not because it isn't good. This is a great episode,
- 0:50Speaker 2: really honest, funny, gay in some parts, not in a
- 0:54Speaker 2: happy way, more like in a Gilmore Girl's way or
- 0:57Speaker 2: a dude singing in a lot of smrisat saw to carry. Okay,
- 1:01Speaker 2: that's all I got, so let's take that drive. When
- 1:03Speaker 2: mister Greg Opie uses he depends on a Way's Girl
- 1:07Speaker 2: for directions to Carls creepy cabin on Opie Radio.
- 1:21Speaker 3: What's up, Good morning, lamb Shop, what are you doing?
- 1:26Speaker 4: The podcast has begun, my brother, why are you stroke?
- 1:31Speaker 4: And my car had a stroke. I'm a little stressed out.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I uh, I got a flat tire last night on
- 1:38Speaker 4: the Crossbox Expressway, and now I'm competing with the ways
- 1:45Speaker 4: as I try to podcast with you.
- 1:47Speaker 5: You're doing a little podcast.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Rudy, I'm podcasting as I drive with a brand new tire.
- 1:54Speaker 6: What a fucking nightmare. I rimmed it all the way home.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Last night, No ship, bro, Well, you know the Crossbox Expressway.
- 2:01Speaker 4: It's the worst road in America.
- 2:02Speaker 5: You know that, right, It's easily the worst road in America.
- 2:06Speaker 6: It fucking it's a truck route.
- 2:08Speaker 4: It's a worker's route, so all sorts of shit falls
- 2:11Speaker 4: off trucks all the time, causing numerous flat tires every
- 2:16Speaker 4: single day. And the oapster was a victim last night,
- 2:20Speaker 4: nice little victim. And uh I watched my uh my
- 2:25Speaker 4: tire pressure go from a sweet thirty eight all the
- 2:29Speaker 4: way down at eighteen nice.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Four wheeling, four wheeling out ps five.
- 2:35Speaker 4: And I wasn't gonna pull over because it is the
- 2:37Speaker 4: Crossbox Expressway, which is also one of the scariest roads
- 2:40Speaker 4: in America. So I rimmed it all the way home,
- 2:43Speaker 4: and I got my tire fixed just a little while ago,
- 2:47Speaker 4: and now I'm off to Carl's creepy cabinet after a
- 2:51Speaker 4: quarter of the night.
- 2:53Speaker 6: Day, brother, we got a big day. I gotta get
- 2:55Speaker 6: Carl up to where espn.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Ye bristook Connecticut dry stream.
- 3:01Speaker 6: Oh this ways, I know where I'm going.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Dude. Relax, bro, you're screaming at a computer like a
- 3:08Speaker 5: like a snowflake. I'm cleaning up the cabinet. Threw a
- 3:11Speaker 5: little party two.
- 3:14Speaker 6: I saw your Instagram live. That was the hell of
- 3:16Speaker 6: a party.
- 3:17Speaker 5: It got good for me. I don't care about anybody else.
- 3:21Speaker 6: You took another one down.
- 3:23Speaker 5: I'm man' this is this time is in complete upheaval.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Carl is loaded for Bear and he's taking out Bear
- 3:38Speaker 4: left and right.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Dude, all you hear is is the blow.
- 3:42Speaker 6: But Carl in a small town being divorces.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Uh wow, that's that is a hell of a party.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, Oh my god.
- 3:57Speaker 6: That's hilarious.
- 3:57Speaker 4: I saw Instagram before you turned it off, and you
- 4:00Speaker 4: were giving dance lessons in the backyard.
- 4:02Speaker 5: I put on my ship kickers. I got these rubber boots.
- 4:05Speaker 5: When he gets money, and he was getting smokey in
- 4:08Speaker 5: my house because everyone was smoking cigars. So I use
- 4:12Speaker 5: that as a as a literal smoke screen. I'm like,
- 4:14Speaker 5: why don't we go outside and do a little fasty food.
- 4:17Speaker 6: He nice.
- 4:18Speaker 5: So I have this little bluetooth speaker. I put it
- 4:21Speaker 5: on the tree. Yeah, we're just mark antoning it up.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Beautiful, good for you.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Bus And I kept like, I kept my back to
- 4:28Speaker 5: the light. That way, if there was a bear coming,
- 4:31Speaker 5: I would just throw her at the bear. And inside.
- 4:37Speaker 6: There are bears up there.
- 4:38Speaker 5: You're crazy, giant fucking bears. Man, there's giant bears.
- 4:43Speaker 6: And you're giving dance lessons in the backyard. How are
- 4:46Speaker 6: the bugs?
- 4:46Speaker 5: Though?
- 4:46Speaker 6: The mosquitos must have.
- 4:48Speaker 5: There was no bugs because it just it was just drizzling.
- 4:53Speaker 5: So if it's drizzling, it's just beautiful out all right.
- 4:57Speaker 5: So now I got they're gonna come. But tomorrow they're
- 5:01Speaker 5: building a fire pit in the back and putting strings
- 5:04Speaker 5: of lights because this is gonna be party central.
- 5:08Speaker 6: Well, what do you mean you send in the back
- 5:10Speaker 6: of the yard up for parties? Now?
- 5:13Speaker 5: Yeah, just like I'm gonna dug barbecue and where to
- 5:15Speaker 5: get you a little cooler? Right? You know what I mean?
- 5:17Speaker 5: All the animals go to bed, right, I'm gonna go.
- 5:21Speaker 6: I guess we're doing the podcast with me, you and ways.
- 5:25Speaker 5: That's right. It don't bother me.
- 5:27Speaker 6: It just popped in again, saying bear left.
- 5:29Speaker 5: Finally, finally someone's famous on the podcast.
- 5:35Speaker 6: God, you have dream list of friends. I drive so
- 5:45Speaker 6: many people the nuts.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Oh god, everybody, everybody even that you don't know you
- 5:51Speaker 5: driving box already.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Whatever, whatever, get over it.
- 5:56Speaker 5: I already got my oak say for my super Bowl
- 5:58Speaker 5: tickets and everything. So I'm a set Atlanta.
- 6:01Speaker 6: Baby, Wait, you're going to Atlanta?
- 6:03Speaker 5: Yeah? I went to Minnesota last year, right, and in
- 6:06Speaker 5: the company called Bullseye. Yeah, like the promotion company. They're
- 6:09Speaker 5: like a big sports company. One of the dudes close,
- 6:12Speaker 5: He goes, dude, just to let you know, here's your codes,
- 6:16Speaker 5: and now you're all set. We will not have another
- 6:18Speaker 5: super Bowl without you. You partied twenty four hours a day.
- 6:22Speaker 5: You kept everybody going. I said, all right, I'll see there.
- 6:25Speaker 6: Wow, good for you, Carl.
- 6:26Speaker 5: How good is that?
- 6:28Speaker 6: That is real good?
- 6:29Speaker 5: Already locked in for the Bowl.
- 6:32Speaker 6: Who do you think is gonna be in the Bowl
- 6:34Speaker 6: this year?
- 6:35Speaker 5: I can care left. I was in Minnesota. I must
- 6:43Speaker 5: have made three hundred people take a knee, let alone
- 6:46Speaker 5: football players.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Oh Trump's not happy with Carl Everyone around him ends
- 6:54Speaker 4: up taking a knee to knees, I don't care, and
- 6:58Speaker 4: then they're all Then they're over a bowl for the
- 7:00Speaker 4: rest of the night.
- 7:03Speaker 5: I was taking people out. I had people lost out
- 7:06Speaker 5: in the snow in Minnesota. I showed no mercy. Super
- 7:10Speaker 5: Bowl is like New Year's Eve, right, So there's not
- 7:13Speaker 5: a lot of real super Bowl like football fans because
- 7:15Speaker 5: they can't afford it. Yeah, So it's just a lot
- 7:18Speaker 5: of like very wealthy people that just want to go
- 7:21Speaker 5: want to go to the super Bowl, you know what
- 7:23Speaker 5: I mean.
- 7:23Speaker 6: Yeah, they don't give a crap about the game, most
- 7:25Speaker 6: of the people there.
- 7:26Speaker 4: That's what's so sad about the super Bowl because the
- 7:29Speaker 4: real fans get shut out when, oh.
- 7:31Speaker 5: My god, the tickets for thousands and thousands of dollars,
- 7:34Speaker 5: you know what I mean. I'm just I'm sucky. That
- 7:37Speaker 5: was awesome, But it's awesome to go.
- 7:40Speaker 6: Well, I've never been.
- 7:41Speaker 4: I've been offered super Bowl tickets a million fucking times,
- 7:45Speaker 4: and I don't know why.
- 7:46Speaker 6: I just never did it.
- 7:48Speaker 5: If you want to go to Atlanta, let me know.
- 7:49Speaker 5: I'm going to Atlanta, work something out.
- 7:52Speaker 6: To do a little podcast, a room.
- 7:56Speaker 5: You won't even have. We'll throw that thing right onto
- 7:58Speaker 5: the field that it's party time. And the minute you
- 8:01Speaker 5: get there, I'm telling you it's crazy.
- 8:03Speaker 6: I understand, brother, I'm just the.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Parties they set up are incredible. And then the girls
- 8:09Speaker 5: are there's a group of girls they call them tagalongs. Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 5: And this year in Minnesota was tight for me because
- 8:17Speaker 5: I was barely married. So I was just like laying
- 8:21Speaker 5: down the groundwork for like, I'll see around. I'm getting nuts,
- 8:25Speaker 5: do you know what I mean? Right, like just letting
- 8:27Speaker 5: people know that you know, I'm about to be born again.
- 8:30Speaker 5: I'm like, right, all right, I do your little dance.
- 8:33Speaker 5: I'll see you next year.
- 8:34Speaker 6: You're in now you got to now, you got to
- 8:37Speaker 6: all clear, So forget.
- 8:38Speaker 5: It, Hope. I'm literally going to dressed like a knight.
- 8:46Speaker 6: Just gonna be playing a little a little Fortnite.
- 8:50Speaker 5: A Fortnite dance all over al ghost right in the whip.
- 8:54Speaker 4: You're gonna be hitting up all the Fortnite dances.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Oh my, you see my outfit? Oh my god. I'm
- 9:03Speaker 5: literally I'm literly gonna be dressed like a hot dog.
- 9:06Speaker 5: Just walk around and do whatever I want.
- 9:07Speaker 6: I can only imagine my brother.
- 9:09Speaker 4: I'm just hoping one of my five teams is in
- 9:11Speaker 4: the super Bowl this year.
- 9:13Speaker 5: You got five teams. That seems pretty weird.
- 9:16Speaker 6: I got my Jets, I got my Patriots, and I
- 9:18Speaker 6: got my Bills. Yeah, and then, uh, you know, you.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Gotta you gotta take a peek at the Eagles, obviously
- 9:25Speaker 4: because I got the in laws.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Down there's let me help you out.
- 9:28Speaker 6: So the next run, well, oh geez, bro, no joke
- 9:36Speaker 6: my ways.
- 9:38Speaker 5: You know when it.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Shows you where you're supposed to be going, I'm not.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I wish I could take a picture this, but I'm
- 9:44Speaker 4: too busy podcasting.
- 9:46Speaker 6: It just turned into a swastika. No joke I did.
- 9:53Speaker 6: I'm oh wow, Now I'm stammering.
- 9:56Speaker 4: I literally made a wrong turn somewhere because I'm too
- 9:59Speaker 4: busy trying to make this sound good that to get
- 10:02Speaker 4: back to where I need to be. They just made
- 10:04Speaker 4: a swastick or pattern on the ways.
- 10:06Speaker 5: You sure that doesn't just say that you're in Chatham.
- 10:10Speaker 6: Oh my god, this is the biggest f up ever
- 10:13Speaker 6: on ways?
- 10:15Speaker 3: Someone, how are you blaming waves?
- 10:17Speaker 5: You're the one driving.
- 10:19Speaker 4: I know I always get lost in Jersey though I
- 10:22Speaker 4: don't understand the roads.
- 10:24Speaker 6: That's my wife. It happens every time.
- 10:27Speaker 5: The last thing I'm gonna do is sucking Olmbya about
- 10:28Speaker 5: your albimer's driving to Lisa about anything. It's like y'all
- 10:33Speaker 5: hooking up with some single girls in Philly, A nice
- 10:36Speaker 5: silly girl.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Oh fuck, I'm on back roads in Newark. That can't
- 10:41Speaker 6: be good.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Oh it's not great, and I'm getting really dizzy. I've
- 10:45Speaker 4: already taken three rights and two lefts, turn right after
- 10:51Speaker 4: now I'm doing another right to pooh, taking another right here.
- 10:56Speaker 6: Wow, that's a fuck up. That is an impressive a
- 11:00Speaker 6: fuck up? Please turn next? Run you hear that?
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yeah, take the next right and then the next sharp
- 11:10Speaker 4: right turn. That's how bad I fucked up. But I'm
- 11:14Speaker 4: almost completing the swastika almost anyway.
- 11:19Speaker 6: What were we talking about? Super Bowl?
- 11:21Speaker 5: Yeah? Super Bowl?
- 11:22Speaker 6: Yeah, good for you, buddy. Oh you're gonna go over
- 11:24Speaker 6: my teams?
- 11:26Speaker 5: Yeah for got Jet They're not going.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't the other team build?
- 11:32Speaker 6: Yeah, but cann't I stop you for a second. The Jets.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Im Bill's ain't going. Jet's ain't going. What's your third one?
- 11:39Speaker 6: Patriots? With an old quarterback.
- 11:43Speaker 4: And then you know, I take a little peak at
- 11:45Speaker 4: the Eagles just because of the end laws.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Eagles are there.
- 11:49Speaker 6: I mean, that's more of a peak though, you know
- 11:51Speaker 6: what I'm saying. I'm not I'm not a fan of
- 11:53Speaker 6: the Eagles, but I gotta take a peek, and I
- 11:56Speaker 6: gotta I gotta.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Defend myself a little bit because I get a lot
- 12:00Speaker 4: of shit for having five teams.
- 12:01Speaker 6: The Jets set me down this road so many years
- 12:04Speaker 6: ago because.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Their team has sucked for decades and we haven't even
- 12:06Speaker 4: had a quarterback in decades.
- 12:09Speaker 6: So it started making me look at all the teams.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Holy shit. Looking at the news now early in the morning,
- 12:15Speaker 5: looking at the news, no good news.
- 12:17Speaker 6: Oh god, I've been turning off that Trump shit for
- 12:20Speaker 6: a long time.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Now, Oh my god, look at at Amarosa. I can't
- 12:23Speaker 5: believe Trump has his own role in Campos. I got it.
- 12:28Speaker 6: Most people know I'm not a huge Trump guy. But
- 12:31Speaker 6: with that said, A'mrosa is the worst. She is the worst.
- 12:38Speaker 5: She is the worst. Man.
- 12:40Speaker 6: I mean, Trump took care of her.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Man.
- 12:42Speaker 4: I mean, she wouldn't have even been close to that
- 12:44Speaker 4: White House if it's for Trump.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Yeah, well, you know, that's people. Man. You learn that
- 12:49Speaker 5: in life, you know, that's unfortunate. I mean I've learned it.
- 12:53Speaker 5: I've learned it the hard way.
- 12:56Speaker 6: You know.
- 12:56Speaker 5: When I got divorced and stuff, how many people just, uh,
- 12:59Speaker 5: you know, look the other way. And then when they
- 13:03Speaker 5: saw that I didn't go down, you know what I mean,
- 13:06Speaker 5: all of a sudden they come back like, hey, what's that? Man?
- 13:09Speaker 5: I'm like, what's that? You know what I mean?
- 13:12Speaker 6: Like, I think it happens to all of us.
- 13:15Speaker 4: And you start realizing that it happens to all of us,
- 13:18Speaker 4: that you got backstabbers among you, and you have no
- 13:21Speaker 4: idea until the shit goes down.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Well, it's not even the backstabers that bothered me as much,
- 13:27Speaker 5: because backstabbers I can use later to hurt other people.
- 13:30Speaker 5: But it's the it's the people that can only be
- 13:33Speaker 5: on a winning team when ship starts going south. In
- 13:36Speaker 5: my marriage, there's a lot of people that didn't reach
- 13:40Speaker 5: out to me. I didn't see if I was okay,
- 13:42Speaker 5: didn't do you know what I mean. They just waited
- 13:44Speaker 5: to make sure everything was all right, and then they
- 13:46Speaker 5: showed back up for the party.
- 13:47Speaker 6: Oh oh shit.
- 13:49Speaker 5: That's and that's my favorite type of people just the cowards,
- 13:53Speaker 5: you know what I mean, Like the people that just
- 13:55Speaker 5: can't pick pick the winning tea, they can't pick a team.
- 13:58Speaker 5: They're always on the right side of things like and
- 14:02Speaker 5: that that happened to me a lot, because that happened
- 14:04Speaker 5: to me a lot in shadow and a lot of
- 14:05Speaker 5: people like, well, Maurice keeping the restaurant, so we'll just
- 14:07Speaker 5: be friends with her. And when they realized, you know,
- 14:11Speaker 5: she she's not even there, or she don't give them
- 14:14Speaker 5: because she don't care. The restaurant's different, then they're like,
- 14:16Speaker 5: all of a sudden, they call me with like, oh man,
- 14:19Speaker 5: I was at Marie. I'm like, brow, there is no
- 14:22Speaker 5: way you're calling me. Six months later, it's we're done,
- 14:25Speaker 5: you know what I mean?
- 14:26Speaker 6: Wow, what do you think that's what do you think
- 14:28Speaker 6: that's about?
- 14:28Speaker 4: People just don't want a lot of drum in their life,
- 14:30Speaker 4: or they want to always I guess you said it.
- 14:32Speaker 6: They always want to be on the winning team.
- 14:34Speaker 5: But they want to be on the winning team. They
- 14:36Speaker 5: want to hedge their best. And the thing is, there's
- 14:38Speaker 5: nothing in my life. I was never able to hedge it,
- 14:40Speaker 5: Ben right, you know, in the restaurants business, I always
- 14:42Speaker 5: had to pick and I with the owner of my
- 14:44Speaker 5: with the chef, and sometimes I'd win and sometimes I'd lose,
- 14:47Speaker 5: you know what I mean, Right, and that and that
- 14:49Speaker 5: created the fabric that kept me from sinking when I
- 14:52Speaker 5: got divorced, just because I always had a job. I
- 14:55Speaker 5: always had a source of making money, right. And you know,
- 14:59Speaker 5: these people that are all I want to be on
- 15:01Speaker 5: the right side are never on any side. I have
- 15:03Speaker 5: no tolerance for it whatsoever. I was just taking people out,
- 15:09Speaker 5: like I just gotta. I got a text from this dude,
- 15:11Speaker 5: like we chilled out maybe twice a week for six
- 15:16Speaker 5: years when I was in shadows, right, yeah, and we
- 15:21Speaker 5: go to dun Get donuts and chill and talking, and
- 15:23Speaker 5: he would talk about his marriage and mine. You know,
- 15:25Speaker 5: he's you know, he's just regular dudes. Then a lot
- 15:28Speaker 5: of hell broke loose and he wanted nothing to do
- 15:30Speaker 5: with it. So he just sent me a tax pay
- 15:32Speaker 5: man literally this morning, I'll show it. You can take
- 15:34Speaker 5: hey man, hope as well. Hey you still have that watch?
- 15:39Speaker 5: He uh he gave me some watch, right.
- 15:41Speaker 6: Yeah, gave it to me.
- 15:43Speaker 5: It was a it was a broken a broken watch.
- 15:46Speaker 5: He said, here, you know, take this here. If he
- 15:48Speaker 5: could fix and keep it whatever. He just texted me
- 15:51Speaker 5: and he's like, oh, if you have that watch, I said,
- 15:53Speaker 5: I threw it in the garbage.
- 15:55Speaker 6: Good for you, Good for you.
- 15:58Speaker 4: I wish I learned so these life lessons a long
- 16:01Speaker 4: time ago, because you know, the same shit happened with
- 16:03Speaker 4: the radio thing, Like people that I really believed were
- 16:08Speaker 4: my friends had had my back.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Oh man, you think people.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Got your back, You think you got real relationships with people.
- 16:15Speaker 6: And then the ship hits the fan and then it's over, Johnny.
- 16:18Speaker 4: They fucking turn on you so fast, and then you'll
- 16:21Speaker 4: see these same people.
- 16:25Speaker 6: Come back around when you're doing well again. It's unbelievable.
- 16:29Speaker 5: I mean, they're starting to trickle back now because they
- 16:31Speaker 5: they left me for dead, you know what I mean.
- 16:34Speaker 5: And then and you know I was putting falls down. Hey,
- 16:37Speaker 5: it was still getting a lunch, nothing all on busy.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Now everybody start to show up. They know Carl's that
- 16:42Speaker 5: full power, right, they're married, they want to do a
- 16:46Speaker 5: little cheating on the side. They know that. Now I'm
- 16:48Speaker 5: I'm you know, I'm running a straight up bullpen, you
- 16:52Speaker 5: know what I mean. So all of a sudden, no,
- 16:55Speaker 5: and then I get like, yo, Nah, bro, ain't no
- 17:00Speaker 5: cuban here. There's the cuban he know, drowned in your bullshit?
- 17:03Speaker 5: You six monthly off.
- 17:05Speaker 6: That's that's just that's just flat out set.
- 17:08Speaker 5: And you want to know what's funny? Op? You what
- 17:10Speaker 5: blew my mind?
- 17:11Speaker 6: I'm listening all the girls, all the women in my life.
- 17:16Speaker 5: Yeah you know what I mean, beat my friends or
- 17:18Speaker 5: or or wives not didn't flinch or falter, not one second.
- 17:24Speaker 5: All dudes. It was all the dudes that were just
- 17:28Speaker 5: soft as cheap ice cream. I mean, just just nibbling,
- 17:35Speaker 5: you know, nonsense. Like I'm like, dude, when did guys
- 17:38Speaker 5: start talking like this? You know, when did it? When
- 17:41Speaker 5: did guys get so emotional and so like? Oh man,
- 17:46Speaker 5: I hope you're okay in that cabin. I'm like, throw
- 17:49Speaker 5: my cabin is not. I do whatever I want.
- 17:53Speaker 6: I blame Nickelback.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Do you think it was Nickelback?
- 17:56Speaker 6: Yeah, Nickelback made guys soft. Yeah that's a point telling
- 18:02Speaker 6: you it is nickel Back. But it's so weird, like
- 18:05Speaker 6: even when you were going through the whole divorce, you know, you.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Were never down or Carl, you know, you kept a
- 18:12Speaker 4: positive outlook and you fucking plowed through. So I don't
- 18:15Speaker 4: know why people decided at that point to turn their
- 18:18Speaker 4: back on you and not want to deal with you.
- 18:21Speaker 5: Maybe because there they were I guess there's they're even
- 18:24Speaker 5: scared of it, you know they were there's so there's
- 18:26Speaker 5: such softy as they were scared of my marriage.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Yeah, but maybe they knew the party was on hold
- 18:33Speaker 4: and they were just like, I ain't dealing with real ship.
- 18:35Speaker 6: I'll wait for Carl to be back to party Carl,
- 18:38Speaker 6: which is I understand that, man?
- 18:42Speaker 4: I mean, you want you want people in your life
- 18:46Speaker 4: that look.
- 18:47Speaker 6: Man, you probably don't want.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Some big, over the top emotional sit down moment with
- 18:52Speaker 4: your friends, but you want a friend to at least
- 18:54Speaker 4: go yo, you are right and right and you go yeah,
- 18:58Speaker 4: I'm all.
- 18:58Speaker 6: Right man, and then that's it. That's it, right.
- 19:01Speaker 5: The best is my friend Renzel. I mean literally my
- 19:05Speaker 5: rider died friend since I was uh sophomore in high school,
- 19:12Speaker 5: right right and shuts right. I mean we fought together.
- 19:16Speaker 5: We did everything together, you know what I mean, like
- 19:19Speaker 5: just us two together, nothing but trouble, right. And I
- 19:24Speaker 5: remember I went to meet him at the bar and
- 19:27Speaker 5: he knew of the minute I said, he ran the
- 19:29Speaker 5: time went, pup, get about what's going on. I shoved
- 19:31Speaker 5: to the bar. He goes, that happened in it. He goes,
- 19:35Speaker 5: that talking got put a bullet and you didn't. She
- 19:38Speaker 5: I said, yeah. He goes, that's incredible. He goes, I
- 19:42Speaker 5: am so excited. He goes, for the last couple of years,
- 19:46Speaker 5: I've been hanging out with you, seeing all these girls talking,
- 19:48Speaker 5: and thank God, I wish this kid was single. You're
- 19:50Speaker 5: so much fun to watch. He goes. Now I've got
- 19:52Speaker 5: a front row seat.
- 19:56Speaker 6: The ip.
- 19:58Speaker 5: He goes, Let's get it done. He goes, Carl, I
- 20:02Speaker 5: swear to God, tell me right now, I'll break up
- 20:05Speaker 5: with my girl right now. I'm like, no, no, no, it's
- 20:08Speaker 5: just chilled. He goes, I want to Let's get it
- 20:11Speaker 5: done right now. He goes, let's cash in. He goes,
- 20:14Speaker 5: let's go somewhere warm and let's just go to jail.
- 20:17Speaker 5: I said, just give me a little while. But I know.
- 20:20Speaker 5: I'm like, I'm not saying don't break up with her,
- 20:23Speaker 5: but I'm just saying not right now, you know what
- 20:24Speaker 5: I mean. He's like, all right, are you literally close
- 20:27Speaker 5: every week? Today we're out, we're done, We're riding. Are
- 20:30Speaker 5: we riding.
- 20:33Speaker 6: I love that dude dirty or what are.
- 20:36Speaker 5: We riding, cousin, are we riding?
- 20:40Speaker 6: That's hilarious.
- 20:41Speaker 5: And he's like an old school guy. I'm like, hey, man,
- 20:44Speaker 5: yo watching I'm gonna be on the SDN. He goes,
- 20:46Speaker 5: there's no girls on there. I was really propirsed. And
- 20:53Speaker 5: now they start to trickle back and I'm just taking
- 20:55Speaker 5: him out.
- 20:56Speaker 4: I don't you know what I mean, Like, yeah, you know,
- 20:58Speaker 4: it's weird, bro, And I don't feel like naming names today.
- 21:01Speaker 4: But with the whole collapse of the radio show, the
- 21:04Speaker 4: same shit happened with me. It's like, look, some of
- 21:07Speaker 4: those guys they you know, the radio show collapse, They're
- 21:10Speaker 4: like they can finally tell me what they thought of me.
- 21:12Speaker 6: I get it, you know, that's human nature, that's life.
- 21:15Speaker 6: But then there are a few.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Where I'm like, you too, really, you know what I
- 21:19Speaker 4: did for you, and you're you're now turning your back
- 21:22Speaker 4: on me because I don't have a big radio show
- 21:24Speaker 4: with a huge platform anymore. Really, And now when I'm
- 21:27Speaker 4: finding out with the success of the podcast or what that's,
- 21:31Speaker 4: some of these guys, god it what you can name
- 21:34Speaker 4: names are starting to kind of you know, send a.
- 21:38Speaker 6: Text here and there like Yo, what's up? And I'm like,
- 21:40Speaker 6: get the fuck out of here? Are you serious?
- 21:44Speaker 4: You find out who your your true friends are when
- 21:46Speaker 4: when you're down on your luck.
- 21:49Speaker 5: Yeah, that's and that's what you gotta do. And and
- 21:51Speaker 5: you know, that's one of the things like when when
- 21:53Speaker 5: I got divorced, I moved right into the woods. But
- 21:56Speaker 5: I knew it was coming a long time.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well without giving you know that, Oh that
- 22:02Speaker 4: without giving much away. Yeah, that's up to you. But
- 22:06Speaker 4: fuck yeah, I know I told you, like, Yo, Carl,
- 22:09Speaker 4: what's up? Because all of a sudden you're like down
- 22:11Speaker 4: at the shore, and then all of a sudden you're
- 22:13Speaker 4: in this cabin.
- 22:15Speaker 6: The signs were everywhere for a while.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Well I didn't tell anybody for a while.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Oh hold on, hold on, Ways decide that was a
- 22:23Speaker 4: perfect fucking time to pop in.
- 22:25Speaker 6: Why why would you have to interrupt if I'm on
- 22:27Speaker 6: eighty for twenty miles, God damn it, this Ways shut up?
- 22:32Speaker 6: Know your place? Sorry, Carl, Oh no problem, go back.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Big shout out to Ways and they.
- 22:40Speaker 6: Probably will be sponsoring this podcast soon.
- 22:42Speaker 5: I love your Ways, love your shout.
- 22:45Speaker 6: The big shout out to the Ways.
- 22:52Speaker 5: I was married seven years. I knew two years in
- 22:55Speaker 5: that it was it was it was a ghost ship,
- 22:58Speaker 5: you know what I mean?
- 22:59Speaker 6: Yeah, I knew it really.
- 23:00Speaker 5: And two years in I knew it was Agostia. And
- 23:06Speaker 5: I kept running scenarios and none of them were clean.
- 23:09Speaker 5: All of them were messy, and I'm like, so then
- 23:13Speaker 5: I figured I said, I'll just let her blow it up.
- 23:18Speaker 5: And then that was it. And then and it took
- 23:20Speaker 5: her a while to figure it out, like most things,
- 23:22Speaker 5: and then that was it. And then I just started
- 23:25Speaker 5: to I started to methodically dismantle everything, you know what
- 23:28Speaker 5: I mean. I went down from three restaurants to two
- 23:32Speaker 5: to one, and I was just like, you know, just
- 23:35Speaker 5: and I just started to you know, I paid off
- 23:37Speaker 5: all the taxes, like all the stuff that I knew
- 23:39Speaker 5: that was gonna get me. And then I just started
- 23:42Speaker 5: going really light. And then she's like, uh, why did
- 23:46Speaker 5: you buy that watch of diamonds on it. I'm like,
- 23:48Speaker 5: I don't know. I'm Cuban.
- 23:50Speaker 6: This is what we do.
- 23:52Speaker 5: There's what we do. And I'd ship it to my mother.
- 23:54Speaker 5: I'm like, Mom, put this in your butt, home school.
- 24:01Speaker 6: Put this in your butt. I'm gonna come forward someday.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Put this in your butt like we did in qu
- 24:05Speaker 5: about I don't need that. Later, my dad's sleeping out
- 24:10Speaker 5: of bed in Alzheimer's and it's pillows worth one hundred
- 24:13Speaker 5: grand because my mom's hiding all the watching on of them.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Oh my god, your gagster ship man. And then that
- 24:22Speaker 5: was it, and then we were and then uh, hope free.
- 24:27Speaker 6: I was with this girl for man, eight nine years. Right,
- 24:32Speaker 6: this is how stupid I am. I love admitting how
- 24:36Speaker 6: stupid I am.
- 24:37Speaker 4: I Uh, I moved home from Long Island from Buffalo.
- 24:42Speaker 6: A girl up there just crushed me, just fucking crush me.
- 24:46Speaker 4: A story for another podcast. It's a great story. Actually,
- 24:49Speaker 4: maybe when I get in the car with you, i'll talk.
- 24:52Speaker 5: We should do we should do breakup stories.
- 24:54Speaker 4: I got all right, when I pick you up, I'll
- 24:57Speaker 4: save that story for for our ride because it's a
- 25:00Speaker 4: great one.
- 25:01Speaker 6: So she destroyed me.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I was just too naive, man, she was like so
- 25:06Speaker 4: I had no business being with this girl. Man, holy shit,
- 25:09Speaker 4: she was like a Ferrari and I was like a
- 25:11Speaker 4: Honda Hatchback.
- 25:13Speaker 6: There was no way we should have got together. And man,
- 25:15Speaker 6: she knew and she got me good.
- 25:17Speaker 4: So then I move home to Long Island, and I
- 25:21Speaker 4: met this girl and she was beautiful, man, fucking beautiful.
- 25:25Speaker 4: And we go out on our first date. We're in
- 25:27Speaker 4: my car and we start making out.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Bro.
- 25:30Speaker 4: I knew at that moment our chemistry was not right. Right,
- 25:35Speaker 4: And guess what I did?
- 25:38Speaker 5: What'd you do?
- 25:39Speaker 6: I went out with her for eight years? Oh my god,
- 25:43Speaker 6: what an idiot. I knew when I kissed her.
- 25:45Speaker 4: I'm like right away, I'm like, whoa, this ain't we
- 25:49Speaker 4: don't have the chemistry.
- 25:50Speaker 6: Holy shit.
- 25:52Speaker 5: Ah wow.
- 25:53Speaker 6: And because I'm a stupid mother fucker brought.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Up naive by a control fucking mom, I just didn't
- 26:02Speaker 4: have life lessons.
- 26:04Speaker 6: So I it took me eight years to get out
- 26:07Speaker 6: of that. Eight years.
- 26:11Speaker 4: And I knew because my head was blown away because
- 26:14Speaker 4: I'm like, she's this girl's beautiful.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Man, this should be this should work, you know what
- 26:18Speaker 6: I'm saying. But it just wasn't right.
- 26:22Speaker 5: Oh I hurt.
- 26:24Speaker 6: Damn, Yeah it does.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Oh that's why when I got married. When I got married,
- 26:29Speaker 5: I took well, I never take advice from married dudes
- 26:33Speaker 5: because they just want you to be miserable like them, right.
- 26:37Speaker 5: And I was getting older and my mother, you know
- 26:42Speaker 5: my dad was my dad got sick, and I'm like, fuck,
- 26:46Speaker 5: I'm gonna die alone. I need a family, you know
- 26:48Speaker 5: what I mean? And and and I and I looked
- 26:52Speaker 5: at my roster, and I picked the least uh, the
- 26:58Speaker 5: one that I felt was the most stable. It was
- 27:00Speaker 5: literally like that. It wasn't like anything else, you know,
- 27:04Speaker 5: it was just like to make my parents happy, or
- 27:07Speaker 5: my mom happy. You know, my grandfather just died. He
- 27:09Speaker 5: was my right hand man. You know, he's the only
- 27:12Speaker 5: one that ever told me the truth. Everyone else lived
- 27:15Speaker 5: in fantasy La la land, right. You know, my mom,
- 27:18Speaker 5: my mother was either laughing or crying. Nothing ever in
- 27:21Speaker 5: the big nothing in the middle, but either she.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Was old on, Carl, you're breaking up.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Oh Carl is breaking up?
- 27:33Speaker 4: That means I'm getting close to the creepy cabin because
- 27:36Speaker 4: the reception out here is really really bad.
- 27:40Speaker 2: That creepy cabin Vortex SHOPI.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Ah, I lost, Carl.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Let's do a redial.
- 27:48Speaker 4: So your mom had two emotions, yes, dude, like a
- 27:51Speaker 4: light switch.
- 27:52Speaker 5: You know, she was either happy or crying. There was
- 27:56Speaker 5: no there was nothing in the middle. And then you know,
- 28:00Speaker 5: I lost my own I lost my grandpa, and then uh,
- 28:04Speaker 5: you know my brother, my brother, you know, he he's
- 28:11Speaker 5: he's got the emotions of a of a of a
- 28:13Speaker 5: vending machine, you know what I mean. So, but but
- 28:16Speaker 5: he has to be he you know, he's literally the
- 28:19Speaker 5: angel of death. So I can't ask him opinions because
- 28:23Speaker 5: he's watching babies by all day. So he's he's got
- 28:26Speaker 5: that million mile gaze, you know, he just wants everyone
- 28:30Speaker 5: to shut up so he could watch the news.
- 28:32Speaker 6: But but sometimes, but.
- 28:34Speaker 4: Sometimes you can ask him for his opinion because he's
- 28:37Speaker 4: going to give it to you black and white.
- 28:38Speaker 6: He's not gonna sugarcoat anything.
- 28:41Speaker 5: I understood. But but my brother went from from uh
- 28:46Speaker 5: number one in high school to number one at Ivy League,
- 28:49Speaker 5: to number one in medical school to married with three kids.
- 28:53Speaker 5: He has no life experience on anything, right, but nothing
- 28:59Speaker 5: really bad ever happened to him. Nothing. He doesn't drink,
- 29:03Speaker 5: he doesn't smoke, He never did anything, you know, he
- 29:07Speaker 5: never He never smart than anybody, you know what I mean.
- 29:10Speaker 5: He just he just he went by the book. So
- 29:14Speaker 5: there's really nothing I want I need to ask him
- 29:16Speaker 5: because I'll never be I'll never use his advice. So
- 29:20Speaker 5: I'm the complete opposite, you know, like I'm the opposite
- 29:24Speaker 5: of rain man. I'm like sunny man.
- 29:27Speaker 6: That's a great way to put it. Man, that's a
- 29:31Speaker 6: great way to put it.
- 29:32Speaker 5: Like to me, it's just like, you know, I have
- 29:35Speaker 5: like a check system. You know, are we partying?
- 29:37Speaker 6: Yes?
- 29:38Speaker 5: All right? Are we not partying? That have tough? Know what?
- 29:41Speaker 2: I like?
- 29:42Speaker 5: That's basically how I go about things, right, you know,
- 29:45Speaker 5: which makes me really fun. At the same time, I mean,
- 29:49Speaker 5: people get tired of me, So what.
- 29:51Speaker 6: About what what about your mom?
- 29:52Speaker 4: With the two emotions and uh and uh, girls, I
- 29:56Speaker 4: guess I guess that's where you go.
- 29:57Speaker 5: We have a problem with my mom, you know. And
- 30:00Speaker 5: I love her because she's my mom and and you
- 30:03Speaker 5: know you're you're built that way. But you know she Uh,
- 30:09Speaker 5: all the advice she ever gave me was just for herself,
- 30:12Speaker 5: like don't like, don't do that, like you shouldn't open
- 30:15Speaker 5: that restaurant. But it wasn't because she was worried about me.
- 30:18Speaker 5: It was because she was scared that it wouldn't work
- 30:21Speaker 5: and then that she would have to give me money.
- 30:23Speaker 5: That's the why she gave me the advice. Got like,
- 30:26Speaker 5: you never had anything to do with me. I had
- 30:28Speaker 5: everything to do with how is this going to affect me?
- 30:31Speaker 5: Or how am I gonna look socially?
- 30:33Speaker 4: Well, it was all about if she was going to
- 30:35Speaker 4: be inconvenienced or not exactly.
- 30:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I get that.
- 30:39Speaker 5: So so so when you take that kind of advice,
- 30:43Speaker 5: I mean, she always wins, you know, the house always wins,
- 30:46Speaker 5: but you lose, you know what I mean. So my
- 30:50Speaker 5: dad was the complete opposite. My dad was very risky.
- 30:54Speaker 5: He was a risk taker, and he was smooth at
- 30:57Speaker 5: the Ladies boy, and.
- 31:03Speaker 4: He knew, well, wait, you broke up there. Oh yeah,
- 31:10Speaker 4: we got the bad reception. As we get close to
- 31:12Speaker 4: the Carl's creepy cabin. You know what, I'm only a
- 31:15Speaker 4: couple of miles out, So.
- 31:16Speaker 6: Why don't we do this, Joe You take it away,
- 31:19Speaker 6: do what you gotta do. This podcast will continue from
- 31:22Speaker 6: Carl's creepy cabin as I pick him up.
- 31:26Speaker 4: I think we're going to get pizza at Peppi's and
- 31:29Speaker 4: then we're also gonna end up at ESPN today because
- 31:33Speaker 4: Carl's got a big gig up there so lots to do.
- 31:36Speaker 6: Take it away, Joey, deep shit, really deep shit. Good
- 31:41Speaker 6: call on waiting to get to CCC.
- 31:43Speaker 1: For the rest of this episode all very revealing.
- 31:46Speaker 2: When we return, we go back to where it all began, well,
- 31:49Speaker 2: where this podcast began, Carl's creepy cabin,
