- 0:00Sometimes we have these lofty dreams and there's a part of us
- 0:02that goes, oh, well, see, I really can't get there.
- 0:04See, I'm really not worthy. No, if you move incrementally,
- 0:07properly, you can get there. You know when our heads in the
- 0:09sand, we can't even see possibility.
- 0:11Imposter syndrome is being honest and having sobering
- 0:14truths with yourself about the next step you need to take you.
- 0:17Had all those beliefs and you had all these events that
- 0:20happened and it's LED you to now and all of the pain or failure,
- 0:24if that's how you choose to perceive it, is the reason
- 0:26you're here. It doesn't matter how much money
- 0:28you have, how little you have. We all have those wounds.
- 0:31All of us are walking around imperfect.
- 0:33I've always found myself wanting to have the perfect picture of
- 0:36what was going to happen. Let's be honest, it's a little
- 0:38baptism by fire down here, you know?
- 0:40It's like, oh, you want me to? You want me to jump off the
- 0:42Cliff? Yes.
- 0:44If I just focus on the next step, what if my dream doesn't
- 0:46happen? Or what if the destination
- 0:48doesn't occur? What if the result doesn't
- 0:50happen? When you release the internal
- 0:53timeline, that's freedom. Hi and welcome back.
- 0:57I am so excited to have you here and you're going to just love
- 1:01today's episode. I will say I left this interview
- 1:05feeling like buzzed, feeling just full of energy.
- 1:08And you're going to feel it too after you tune in because Taylor
- 1:11is absolutely incredible. I am honored today to be joined
- 1:15by Taylor Nardone, who is just so many things.
- 1:19He's a mentor, he's a creative, he's a guide, and he's just
- 1:22someone who supports all different kinds of online
- 1:25businesses, business owners, entrepreneurs.
- 1:28And most importantly, one of the things that I know that he
- 1:31really emphasizes is the ability for us to enjoy the process and
- 1:34also to understand how to actually show up in a way that
- 1:38is honest and sustainable for us and in a way that really allows
- 1:42us as business owners and entrepreneurs to express
- 1:44ourselves. And so Taylor Nardone has a
- 1:47background in both marketing and mentorship.
- 1:49He helps entrepreneurs to really reconnect with their voice, not
- 1:53for performance, but for their truth.
- 1:56Taylor's work centers around alignment, emotional safety, and
- 1:59building a business that does not require you to feel like you
- 2:02constantly need to prove yourself.
- 2:04He brings a grounded, reflected presence to an industry that, to
- 2:07be honest, often rewards speed and polished and inviting people
- 2:13back into. The slowness is his thing.
- 2:15He's looking at clarity and ownership and giving you back
- 2:19the driver's seat of how you show up in your life and in your
- 2:22business. And honestly, we unpacked a lot
- 2:24within this episode. We talk about why entrepreneurs
- 2:27secretly present their content and what that actually really
- 2:30means for you and your business. We talk about the pressure to be
- 2:34on all the time and what it's truly costing you.
- 2:37We talk about how Taylor restructured his business to
- 2:39really support his nervous system and what was coming up
- 2:42the line between visibility and where you actually move into
- 2:45self exploitation when you're posting online.
- 2:48What happens when you grow an audience that actually isn't
- 2:51aligned with who you are? Why slowing down doesn't mean
- 2:54you're falling behind. Why letting go of the identity
- 2:57that you've built your past success around can actually be
- 3:00something that impacts your business.
- 3:03How Taylor found clarity after walking away from a business
- 3:05that no longer felt like it was his.
- 3:08And the problem with trying to make everything marketing.
- 3:11And most importantly, how to create a business that actually
- 3:14feels like home. We just covered so much today,
- 3:17and I can't tell you how much on this episode, it even hit and
- 3:21transformed me in this conversation.
- 3:23And so I cannot wait for you to dive in.
- 3:25So without further ado, let's get into our episode with Taylor
- 3:28Nordo. Hello you guys and welcome back
- 3:39to Ambitious. I will say I am nerding out
- 3:42today and I'm like fangirling a little bit over here because
- 3:45today I am so excited to be joined by Taylor.
- 3:48A little context, Taylor I actually found on the Internet,
- 3:52which is what we all desire. I found him on the Internet and
- 3:55every video I scrolled, I went one after another and I felt
- 3:57better and better and better listening to him.
- 4:00And if I could make him my alarm clock, I would.
- 4:03So I very transparently slid into his DMS and I was like, I
- 4:07need to be around you for 60 minutes, if not longer.
- 4:10And so I'm so excited to have you here today, Taylor, and just
- 4:14like hear all of your goodness and share it with anybody who
- 4:16hasn't yet been exposed to it. So welcome to Ambitious.
- 4:20Thank you so much for having me. No, we were just chatting.
- 4:22I mean, I'm so excited to be here.
- 4:23The sliding into the DMS, anyone listening?
- 4:25It works. It works.
- 4:26Slide on there everybody. I've never done it for dating.
- 4:31This is the first time, actually, transparently, that
- 4:33I've ever slid into someone's DMS in this nature.
- 4:36But after this experience, I'm fully into it.
- 4:38I see it, yeah. And by the way, you sent me some
- 4:40voice notes. And that's it's like, boom.
- 4:42Yes. Make it personal.
- 4:43Yeah. Make it personal.
- 4:45Give that tone. For sure it works.
- 4:46It works. So obviously for anybody who's
- 4:49not super familiar with your work or maybe hasn't been
- 4:52exposed to it yet, give us like a quick synopsis on kind of
- 4:54obviously you, at least for myself, you deeply motivate me
- 4:58and inspire me and activate me anytime that I listen to you
- 5:02speak on really frankly any topic.
- 5:04And so I'm curious what kind of got you into this work and like,
- 5:08what are the core things that if someone hasn't gone to your
- 5:11content yet, they're kind of like the basis of what you love
- 5:14to dive into? I love that question.
- 5:16First of all, you said activate. Yes, actually at the beginning
- 5:18of this journey when I started working as a life and
- 5:21breakthrough coach, which is still what I do now, I, I called
- 5:25a lot of my programs the activation because that's what I
- 5:27think it does for a lot of people.
- 5:28So hopefully it does activate people.
- 5:30You know what? So I go by a couple of quotes
- 5:33that I absolutely love that I think embody really my work
- 5:36collectively. So the first one is by Wayne
- 5:38Dyer, and he says when you change the way you look at
- 5:40things, the things you look at change.
- 5:43And so my job is to really come online.
- 5:46I want to lift your spirits. I want to make you smile.
- 5:48I want to give you some joy. But I want to start to lift your
- 5:51head above the chaos so that you change the way you're viewing
- 5:54things and that you actually start to walk through anything
- 5:58and any of those illusions that have been holding you back
- 6:00because I call them illusions, right?
- 6:02All of that fear. So my job is to empower you, but
- 6:06to also show you the truth of who you are, right?
- 6:09And so when you have that feeling after you watch a video,
- 6:11if it's mine or if it's, you know, anyone else who's who's
- 6:13kind of motivating and inspiring you, that's your soul kind of
- 6:16coming to the front going, yes, right, yes, walk in that
- 6:18direction. That's it.
- 6:19So that's what I hope to do. And I think the other quote that
- 6:23I absolutely love and that I go by quite often, I actually have
- 6:25it in my community. It's at the top.
- 6:27It's by CS Lewis and it says don't look at me, look at where
- 6:30I'm pointing. So I want to point you up in the
- 6:33right direction. I want you to be able to lift
- 6:34your head. So kind of going with the first
- 6:36quote, right, changing the way you look at things.
- 6:38But that's my hope. You know, I hope that if people
- 6:40start scrolling that they will be able to just, you know, soak
- 6:44up something and start to shift the way they're viewing even
- 6:47just life right now. It's exciting to think about
- 6:49possibility, but if you can change the way you're viewing
- 6:52things right now, that opens up possibility.
- 6:54So that's my goal. Absolutely.
- 6:56And if someone like, first of all, even just listening to his
- 6:59voice, how soothing, right? Like can he please do meditation
- 7:02tapes, Honestly. But honestly, the videos that
- 7:06I've consumed of you have made me feel exactly that way.
- 7:08And it was why I wanted to dive in today because I know a lot of
- 7:11your content and the things you've discussed have talked
- 7:13about fear and you've talked about failure and you've talked
- 7:16about not feeling like you're enough or in the right place.
- 7:19And there's so many great mindset pieces that you hit on.
- 7:22And I think one of the things that I'm so excited about in the
- 7:25way in which you approach it is the fact that it feels so
- 7:28practical and it allows people to find themselves within it.
- 7:31I sometimes find within mindset or motivation, it can feel very
- 7:36prescriptive to the point where it's like, here's how you're
- 7:39supposed to feel or here's how you're supposed to approach it.
- 7:42And what I love about your work is the fact that you allow
- 7:44people to find themselves within it.
- 7:46And I know obviously from your history you've done like
- 7:50speaking in front of crowds and communities and all different
- 7:52types of people that you've supported with your message.
- 7:55So for anyone who hasn't kind of been exposed to that, just as a
- 7:58quick snapshot, what kinds of ways or kind of, I guess
- 8:01processes do you have in the way that you deliver your message or
- 8:04get it to people? You know what, it really varies
- 8:08based upon the person specifically that I have come to
- 8:11my door because everyone is really different.
- 8:12And I always think of myself as kind of a facilitator, right?
- 8:16So I'm, I'm the one that drops the gem, you know, or drops the
- 8:19bomb. And I'm like, OK, now process
- 8:20it. You know what I want?
- 8:22Because I want you. I want you to come to your own
- 8:24conclusions, right? And I used to be a teacher and
- 8:25that's kind of a philosophy as well with students, right?
- 8:27It's like you present it to them and you want them to go to
- 8:30critically think. So it's the same thing.
- 8:32You know, I will say for me, I, I really view this beautiful
- 8:36process and this is kind of my coaching, but really what I
- 8:39bring to people, you know, if I'm, if I'm speaking or if I'm,
- 8:41you know, whether it's virtual in person, I kind of take them
- 8:44through this. And, and I say the first step is
- 8:46really it's the awareness and starting to shift internally
- 8:49your beliefs and your mindset. So that's really huge.
- 8:52And so I have some practical strategies for that.
- 8:54But then we start to go within and we start to go, well, where
- 8:57are the internal blocks, right? Everyone has that resistance
- 8:59that they come up against. And so we do kind of a deep dive
- 9:02to illuminate those parts of us, those pain points that perhaps
- 9:05were kind of tucked away. And here's the thing, when you
- 9:08illuminate that, and often times it's some shame, shame can only
- 9:11grow in the dark. It cannot grow in the light.
- 9:13And so when you bring it to the light, you give it permission to
- 9:16kind of heal. And we kind of walk through
- 9:17that. And another practice I actually
- 9:19take people through, you know, especially as they start to, you
- 9:22know, kind of clear their path and want to head into new
- 9:25ventures is actually the practice of forgiveness, right?
- 9:28It's not something we talked about, I feel like much and
- 9:30maybe the Wellness space, but it's been very pivotal in my own
- 9:33life and in my in my messaging because that really frees you.
- 9:36And then what I think about too, to really lift people up, as I
- 9:39always say, you know, what's the next level version of you?
- 9:42Who is that version of you that's being birthed?
- 9:44And let's let them take your hand because they're going to
- 9:47start to guide you to that next platform.
- 9:49So I always say my goal, you know, if we're going to view
- 9:52this, you know, A to Z, my goal is not to get you to Z, I'm
- 9:55going to get you to B. And then when you get to BC is
- 9:57going to unfold. And that's what it is.
- 9:59This is like a big staircase. So I just want to get people to
- 10:02the next step on their staircase.
- 10:03Once you hit that next step, the next one will illuminate and
- 10:06then the next one will illuminate, right?
- 10:08Because we can't, only God could do, we can't conceptualize what
- 10:12Z is going to look like and how we're going to get there.
- 10:14We might be able to feel some of that and that's the excitement,
- 10:16but then you got to let it go. So I just want to get people.
- 10:18Hopefully this is the answer. Again, I just want to get people
- 10:20up the staircase. Which I feel like if anyone
- 10:23didn't listen to that, please rewind that because I feel like
- 10:25every ambitious driven person is like, I am where I am now, let's
- 10:29just speed to where it is that I want to go.
- 10:31Yeah, I can't do that. That everyone wants to get to
- 10:34the destination and never is allowing themselves to sit in
- 10:36the process. So I love that.
- 10:38OK, you unpacked a couple elements that I see there, which
- 10:41is identifying. I love the idea of you have
- 10:44illusions that you need to illuminate is what I heard you
- 10:46say, which I'm obsessed with getting a awareness of where you
- 10:50are right now and what are those limitations.
- 10:53Then looking at forgiving those to be able to dive into future
- 10:57self. It's kind of the three different
- 10:58almost like areas that I'm seeing.
- 11:01So those illusions that you spoke about, what are some of
- 11:05those that you see maybe with clients or entrepreneurs or
- 11:08people that you kind of interface with that someone
- 11:11listening to this might right now who feels like they're going
- 11:15for big goals. Maybe they have experienced some
- 11:18failures recently. They have some fear that's
- 11:20coming up around, you know, what's going to happen in my
- 11:22business? Is it going to be successful?
- 11:25And I'm sure many of the things your clients go through, I feel
- 11:28like so many of us are in our head is in the sand.
- 11:30We're just in the doing. Right.
- 11:32And so I'm. Curious for those kind of things
- 11:35that are maybe over top of us that really are guiding a lot of
- 11:38how we behave, how do we even start to tune into some of those
- 11:42or maybe what are some of them that you typically see with
- 11:45people? It's a great question and I love
- 11:47that you just said, you know, head in the sand.
- 11:49I always use that analogy. That's what it seems like, you
- 11:50know, when our heads in the sand, we can't even see
- 11:53possibility, right? So there's so many things there.
- 11:55I would really recommend to everybody listening to read the
- 11:58book The Big Leap by Gay Hendrix.
- 12:01This is a phenomenal book. And what Gay talks about, and
- 12:03it's actually a foundational part of my work as well, is he
- 12:06says that there's four different zones that we operate in, right?
- 12:08So people that are listening right now, you are all trying to
- 12:10get to your zone of genius, right?
- 12:12So when you become an entrepreneur, and this doesn't
- 12:14even have to be career wise, but in our life, you know, within
- 12:17the four different zones, the zone of genius is the one you
- 12:19want to get up to. That's where only you are doing
- 12:22what you do, the way you do it. OK, so that's your secret sauce.
- 12:26Now there's four of these. So the bottom one is the zone of
- 12:29incompetence. And if we talk about this career
- 12:31wise, no one really ends up there.
- 12:32You can't survive there. The zone of confidence, which is
- 12:35what you do, you do it just fine.
- 12:36Other people do it the same, the zone of excellence, which is
- 12:38where a lot of us high achievers get to.
- 12:40But then the problem is we hit the ceiling.
- 12:42We go, I want to be in my zone of genius.
- 12:45And what Gay talks about is he says, you know, there's this
- 12:47hidden barriers prior to getting to your zone of genius, but
- 12:50that's the journey. OK, So what the hidden barriers
- 12:53are, and I see this with everyone.
- 12:54I see it with myself and the process is just, it's walking
- 12:58incrementally through it. That's the biggest thing.
- 13:01So actually, let me just pause and talk about imposter syndrome
- 13:03real quick because everybody deals with imposter syndrome.
- 13:08Here's the thing about imposter syndrome.
- 13:10You have to change the goal post.
- 13:12I have worked with so many people over the years that have,
- 13:18you know, these huge lofty dreams.
- 13:22They are lofty, they're exciting.
- 13:23And I listen, I, I don't even verbalize half of mine.
- 13:26I verbalize them to myself. The windows know about it, but I
- 13:28don't verbalize it to some people because they're, you
- 13:30know, they're big. But we we have to be.
- 13:34And this is the I don't even like the term realistic, but we
- 13:36have to be realistic about what step we're on and the next one
- 13:40to take. If I have a goal that's up to
- 13:43the ceiling, OK, by the way, I might subconsciously have a
- 13:47little bit of self sabotaging going on.
- 13:49If I say, OK, well this is the goal I have to get to, well, I'm
- 13:51not that height yet. I can't jump up there.
- 13:53That doesn't make any sense. If I say I want to run a
- 13:56marathon tomorrow, that's probably I could pass away.
- 13:58Trying to do that, right? There's a process of training.
- 14:01Imposter syndrome is being honest and having sobering
- 14:04truths with yourself about the next step you need to take.
- 14:07It's not about trying to get to Z, it's about getting to B.
- 14:10And sometimes that's scarier because then we have to
- 14:12confront, Oh my gosh, I could actually do it.
- 14:15So now I'm going to back it up because by the way, sometimes we
- 14:18have these lofty dreams and there's a part of us that goes,
- 14:20oh, we'll see. I really can't get there.
- 14:22See, I'm really not worthy. No, if you move incrementally,
- 14:25properly, you can get there. Now that's terrifying because we
- 14:29fear our greatness and we fear our darkness.
- 14:31OK, we fear both of those, but we want to start going up to the
- 14:33path of greatness. But let me back it up.
- 14:36So the hidden barriers, I really pull these out from that book,
- 14:40The Big Leap. And again, recommend it to
- 14:41everyone. So prior to getting to your zone
- 14:44of genius, what do we all suffer with?
- 14:46There's four of them. Number one, it's the fear of
- 14:48failure. OK, to be honest with you,
- 14:51here's the thing. How many of us have felt like a
- 14:53failure, but we still get up the next day?
- 14:55OK? That's predominantly, I think.
- 14:57I think that's the most common feeling when nervous.
- 15:00How's this going to go? You would be surprised.
- 15:02A couple of perspective shifts and people realize, oh, well,
- 15:05there's a lot of things that I've.
- 15:06I'm just fearful of where I already am.
- 15:08OK, Well, that doesn't make any sense.
- 15:10So let me just keep walking, right?
- 15:12The second one, if we're going to kind of go up the scale now
- 15:14is the fear of success. Now this is legitimate as well.
- 15:18Some of us need to work on our beliefs around money.
- 15:21Because if I attribute to more success, to more money, but I
- 15:24don't trust myself with money, whoa, what's going to happen
- 15:27there? If I attribute more success,
- 15:29especially if you're an entrepreneur.
- 15:31OK, well, wait a second. Now I'm going to have more
- 15:33success. Well, am I going to have to work
- 15:3518 hour days because I'm used to money coming in a certain way.
- 15:39So some people are going to go Nope, right, right.
- 15:43So then there's the fear that we're fundamentally flawed and
- 15:47that there's something wrong with us.
- 15:49OK. And if we get to that level, Oh
- 15:52my gosh. Well, what if they find out?
- 15:55Now, first of all, this is null and void because I don't know
- 15:58what model of perfection that we have on this earth.
- 16:00There is not one person. And trust me, and I've worked
- 16:02with a lot of people, it doesn't matter how much money you have,
- 16:05how little you have, we all have those wounds.
- 16:08We all, all of us are walking around imperfect.
- 16:12And it was never a prerequisite for us to be perfect to achieve
- 16:15or get anything. That's the beautiful thing about
- 16:17this. We didn't have to be.
- 16:19Sometimes it's owning, stepping into truly who we are and
- 16:22learning to release and let that go.
- 16:24That's when we step into freedom.
- 16:26But the last one that I think is actually quite big for people,
- 16:30and it's kind of a hidden one, is the fear of being abandoned
- 16:32on the journey. We're not meant to be alone.
- 16:36Now, I don't mean this in terms of a relationship isolating
- 16:39ourselves on the path of success.
- 16:43You know, sometimes you hear these videos of, OK, well, I'm
- 16:45going to hustle. And if you're not this, then you
- 16:46can't come with it. It's like, whoa, you know what
- 16:48we really want at the end of the day?
- 16:49You want community, you want people, you want connection.
- 16:52You don't want to be void of that.
- 16:54It feels all great until you're in this multi $1,000,000 home by
- 16:57yourself, right? And it's, again, it's not about
- 17:01being single or anything of that nature.
- 17:02I personally am, right. But it's about who are you
- 17:04spending this with? What are the true riches in your
- 17:08life? When you prioritize and identify
- 17:11that you're able to handle and think about it, it's almost
- 17:14protection from God, right? So it's not a bad thing if you
- 17:18get to that level. You've just magnified who you
- 17:20are and now you have a lot more that's around you right now when
- 17:23you're the same person. So to recap.
- 17:26So those four items, I think are some of the biggest hurdles that
- 17:31people have to walk through those illusions, right?
- 17:33The fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear that there's
- 17:36something wrong with me and Oh my God, I have to be perfect to
- 17:39do this. No, you don't.
- 17:41And the fear that you're going to be left behind because also
- 17:45when you, you know, when your income changes, when all these
- 17:47things change, sometimes, you know, you worry what happens
- 17:50with those relationships, what happens with those people.
- 17:52So those are the biggest. Ones in a Monday to Friday I
- 17:56feel like I I feel like I genuinely in a five day seven
- 17:58day period probably have moments where I feel those naturally
- 18:05come up in the sense of fear of failure.
- 18:06Even now at this stage is something that I'm like is is
- 18:10this going to work out is it going to sustain is it going to
- 18:13continue fear of success for sure.
- 18:17And I'm so excited to unpack these because even for me, there
- 18:19was a, a moment in my business where I was like, I know that I
- 18:23need to do X in order to see the business grow the way I want.
- 18:26It's so crystal clear. I have the evidence of what to
- 18:28do. I know the results it generates
- 18:31of what it can produce. And I'm not doing it.
- 18:33Why? And when I started to unpack it,
- 18:36I realized that if I sold more, I had to have more clients.
- 18:39And if I had, I had more clients, I need more capacity.
- 18:41And if I need more capacity, because I had this emotional
- 18:44cloud that was happening in my personal life, that wasn't
- 18:47something that I felt safe to do.
- 18:49So therefore trickle down don't sell.
- 18:51So when we think about, and I love that you broke these down
- 18:55to categories because obviously you guys know, I'm a nerd for a
- 18:57framework. I think it's really helpful for
- 19:00people to realize for each of these buckets, like where they
- 19:03can kind of see themselves within it.
- 19:04So maybe we start with fear of failure because I think
- 19:07consciously many of us will be like, I don't fear that I'm
- 19:10going to fail. Like I know that I could do
- 19:12great things or I have these big goals that I'm going for.
- 19:15But I feel, at least in my personal opinion, that it's
- 19:18really easy to be excited about growth and excited about scaling
- 19:22when everything's going well. It's in the moments where you
- 19:25face the resistance or you feel like you're really up against
- 19:28it, IE say you were I or to train for that marathon we're
- 19:31talking about that you start to realize, hey, like this is
- 19:35something that I actually do see the potential of.
- 19:37It couldn't work out in the way that I might perceive or hope it
- 19:41to be in this perfect vision. So when you help people with
- 19:45overcoming that fear of failure, where do you think that comes
- 19:49from? And kind of like, how do people
- 19:51start to unpack that to build a different relationship with it?
- 19:56I love what you just said at the end there to build a different
- 19:58relationship with it, because let's be very clear, there's
- 20:00always going to be failure. But what is failure?
- 20:04So these the, the four different categories, they almost feed off
- 20:07each other. Think about it.
- 20:08If you fail, then you've affirmed, see, there's something
- 20:10wrong with me. Do you know what I mean?
- 20:13But so, so that, and for everyone, it's very different.
- 20:15I mean, it also depends on how you grew up, right?
- 20:17What was family life like? What were the expectations
- 20:19placed on you about your achievement?
- 20:21Was your, you know, the acceptance that you had tied
- 20:23directly to? Was it your grades, which you
- 20:25achieved all that? So it's very different for
- 20:27everyone. But what I will say is failure
- 20:30is your textbook for how to succeed.
- 20:33You have to come up against it in order to properly learn.
- 20:38And failure, when you see if we're going to zoom out on like
- 20:40I always joke about like zooming out on like a cosmic level.
- 20:42If we really zoom out of this, when you fail and you're broken
- 20:46down, first of all, you learn to surrender there.
- 20:49And surrender builds your personal faith so that God can
- 20:52show you the next path #2 you are absolutely learning.
- 20:56You are shown what not to do. So you can fine tune, but it
- 20:59expands you. I think the biggest thing that
- 21:01we can do when we think about failure is understand you are
- 21:04always going to be fearful before you start something.
- 21:07Fear is excitement without the breath.
- 21:10What's on the other side of the fear?
- 21:12You are always going to be. You just got to everyone.
- 21:14Listen, I know this sounds simple, but it's really getting
- 21:17used to that phrase of you got to do it scared sometimes and
- 21:20now going back to so let's even break it down further.
- 21:24Oh my God. Well, if I do this, well, then
- 21:25this is all going to have to happen.
- 21:26No, it's not. You can make the decision to do
- 21:28it right now, not take any action and nothing crumbled
- 21:31around you. That's Step 1.
- 21:33So we need to break it down. It has to be so chewable.
- 21:36So you understand you're not doing all of this right now.
- 21:40It doesn't mean that you're jumping to that final point.
- 21:43Of course, you're not ready for that.
- 21:44You haven't gone through the proper experiences yet to
- 21:46develop you into that. Do you know what I mean?
- 21:49So everything comes back down to that staircase.
- 21:52And here's the thing, God has all the time in the world for us
- 21:55all, and there's reasons why we don't move at a certain pace.
- 21:58You have to be developed What in life that's really fruitful,
- 22:03beneficial for us. You know, all of those great
- 22:05things happens instantly. It all takes time.
- 22:09There's an order of operations with everything.
- 22:10I could say I want summer right now.
- 22:12We got three more months. We're just about to enter
- 22:14spring, right? It comes at a certain time, so
- 22:17there's a season. So what I would invite everyone
- 22:19to do when they think about failure, and this really goes
- 22:21for all categories, is really think to yourself, OK, number
- 22:24one, what is being reflected to me right now?
- 22:27Like what am I being shown about myself?
- 22:30How am I responding and what do I need to learn?
- 22:33For every problem, there's a solution rule #1 Entrepreneur
- 22:36Land. For every problem, there's a
- 22:37solution. You become solution oriented,
- 22:39right? But #2 if this is a certain
- 22:42season, then what does it mean for me to dig my feet into the
- 22:45season to absorb as much as I can?
- 22:49OK. Everything is about step by step
- 22:53and it all takes that time. The other piece of this, when it
- 22:56comes to it, if you weren't scared of what's ahead, then
- 23:00you're not expanding, you're not in.
- 23:03And we have to expand. We have to grow.
- 23:06And let's be honest, it's a little baptism by fire down
- 23:09here. You know, it's like, oh, you
- 23:11want me to, you want me to jump off the Cliff?
- 23:12Yes, right. So when I took my leap of faith
- 23:15years ago, I, you know, and God really speaks me through my
- 23:18intuition. It wasn't like, hey, Taylor,
- 23:20here's what you're going to land and here's what you're going to
- 23:21do. It was jump.
- 23:23I'm going, what do you want me to jump?
- 23:25You want me to jump? Jump.
- 23:26I'm going. OK, OK, You find out after.
- 23:31So you're always going to be fearful.
- 23:33But if you look back at your track record and you look at all
- 23:37you've achieved, how about all that you've been through and all
- 23:41that you've walked through? And if you wrote all of that
- 23:44down, everything that you've overcome and I had it on a
- 23:46scroll in front of you, you're going to sit there and pretend
- 23:49that you're not able to take this first step A to B.
- 23:52So when you workshop these things and you expose people to
- 23:56the truth of who they are, what they've walked through, and the
- 24:00step that they simply have to take right now, you're met and
- 24:04you're carried to exactly where you need to be next.
- 24:07So that's part. Of it, it's I so resonate with
- 24:10it because I think so many of us, at least for myself, I've
- 24:15always found myself wanting to have the perfect picture of what
- 24:17was going to happen. I was like, I just know what
- 24:19this like you write the classic steps we're all told of like,
- 24:22like, you know, when we're kids, you get in a relationship, you
- 24:24get a house, you get a job, boom, boom, boom.
- 24:26You have a five step plan. And I think so many of us want
- 24:29to control the steps in an effort to control the outcome,
- 24:32to feel like we have this like predictive nature to nature of
- 24:35where we're going. And as you said, that I'm
- 24:38smiling because I'm realizing and I so funny.
- 24:40I just had this conversation with someone this morning
- 24:43because we were talking about how like life's got, whether
- 24:45it's, you know, God for you, universe for you, has other
- 24:47plans. And, you know, obviously, as I
- 24:50record this, I'm like, you know, living in a home that I wasn't
- 24:54living in, you know, just a while ago.
- 24:56And I started to kind of look at all the changes that have
- 24:58happened in the last six months to a year.
- 24:59And then I started to go back all the way to when I was a kid
- 25:02and thinking about if I hadn't got that learning disability at
- 25:04grade 8, I wouldn't have not done well in school.
- 25:07And if I hadn't done not well in school, then I wouldn't have
- 25:10become an entrepreneur. And if I hadn't become an
- 25:12entrepreneur and then you just see this domino.
- 25:14But I love that idea of tracing back the events because again, I
- 25:19think there's probably a past of childhood and trauma and all of
- 25:21these things. But I think this desire to
- 25:24control and to know how it's all going to work out and how
- 25:27everything's going to happen, we think is this like really thing
- 25:31that's helping us to succeed in life.
- 25:33But it's really just this like fear protection and, you know,
- 25:36kind of put a bubble around me mechanism.
- 25:38And when you start to reverse engineered.
- 25:40And I would invite everyone to do that exercise because it was
- 25:43only once I had someone else present that to me that it
- 25:47really reframed the experience of being right now, like in this
- 25:51moment. Just be.
- 25:52And I'm like, what do you mean just be?
- 25:54But like, what about this and what about that?
- 25:55And what if I'm too old to have kids?
- 25:56And what if I don't get married? And what if I end up being alone
- 25:58forever and all all these worries and fears and failure
- 26:02that I was so concerned about? They're like, yeah, but you had
- 26:05all those beliefs and you had all these events that happened
- 26:09and it's LED you to now and all of the quote UN quote pain or
- 26:12quote, UN quote failure, if that's how you choose to
- 26:14perceive it, is the reason you're here.
- 26:18So like there may be a necessary even in this season, there might
- 26:23be a winter that has to happen before.
- 26:25Spring can occur. And so I've started to change to
- 26:30your point earlier, this relationship with the now and
- 26:35trying to be like, OK, well, if I am scared of what could be,
- 26:39why is that? And also how do I sit with it,
- 26:41acknowledge it, but still kind of be in it and still allow
- 26:44myself to be in the process? And I've seen, you know, your
- 26:47content that's talked about the aspect of timeline and wanting
- 26:51things to go faster and quicker and easier.
- 26:53And you know, why isn't this happening for me and all these
- 26:56pieces? And I would imagine that those
- 26:59narratives and not noise has a lot to do with people who get
- 27:03stuck in this. I feel like I'm failing.
- 27:05Oh my gosh, it's the yes, just yes to all of it.
- 27:09It's I feel like I'm failing. I feel like I'm behind schedule.
- 27:12I feel like I've missed my time. I feel like it's too late.
- 27:16You know, what the most beautiful thing about how we're
- 27:18living today is we are seeing examples and the Internet has
- 27:21done this for us left and right of people that are finding
- 27:24success at all of these ages that at one point were
- 27:28considered to be, oh, you'd be done, right?
- 27:31I mean, it's even, you know, I'm.
- 27:32I'm even talking about the top dogs of the, you know, Demi
- 27:34Moore, who won her first Golden Globe, her first award ever.
- 27:38She's 62. She had a very, you know,
- 27:40successful career. She said internally she's like,
- 27:42I was told I couldn't go into certain arenas essentially.
- 27:45And all of a sudden she's having that success and you're watching
- 27:47these people that are coming too.
- 27:49And here's the thing, when you release the internal timeline,
- 27:54that's freedom. Like really think about that.
- 27:58If you release the constraints, you have your own personal goal
- 28:01post. You've just freed yourself of
- 28:03everything. I mean, literally, Oh my God, it
- 28:06has to be by this. Well, now you're going to spend
- 28:08the next five years everyday. Oh my God, I'm farther away.
- 28:10I'm farther away. I'm farther away.
- 28:11It's not whoa, if you release that and truly sit with where
- 28:17you are and being doesn't mean the absence of thought.
- 28:21Being is saying, where do I get to place my energy and my focus
- 28:25now? Because your mind's just doing
- 28:26its job. So part of that rewiring and
- 28:29reframing and refocus of the mind is where do I choose to
- 28:32focus now? What is happening right now?
- 28:35What are the blessings currently?
- 28:37And when you sit with that and you go on this rampage up, God,
- 28:42this is working out for me. This is so beautiful.
- 28:44I can't believe this unfolded. I'm having such a beautiful day.
- 28:46The birds are chirping outside. God, it's so nice.
- 28:48That person just beeped at me. Doesn't matter.
- 28:49You just go on this rampage and you're going, Oh my gosh.
- 28:52And it feels so good. And, and the ironic thing about
- 28:56this is when you release the timeline, when you truly learn
- 29:01what it means to surrender. And by the way, people go, how
- 29:04do I, how do I surrender? Well, stop putting pressure on
- 29:06yourself to constantly surrender.
- 29:08That's one piece of it, right? So you got it.
- 29:09You got to zoom out of it. We all have those very humidy
- 29:13moments where we're going. I'm in this panic.
- 29:15But when you start to release, you prioritize alignment.
- 29:19You prioritize just the let go. The ironic thing is you move
- 29:24faster. You've allowed God to take you.
- 29:27It's like, I always think of it as a stream.
- 29:30It's like a stream that you're going down.
- 29:31And we always pretend that we're going to hold on to the slippery
- 29:34rocks next to the stream and oh, this is going to give me
- 29:36protection. It's not actually you just let
- 29:38go again, right? And that's the thing.
- 29:40So the more that you can let go and realize that nothing is
- 29:44crumbling outside of you, right? Some people say, well, if I let
- 29:48go, why can't I do anything? I said?
- 29:50I never said that. I'm telling you in this moment,
- 29:52can you give yourself 15 minutes to go outside, Go sit, go sit
- 29:55with some joy. Go think about meditate on love
- 29:59for 15 minutes and the joy you've had in your life and how
- 30:01beautiful it is and what God has created here.
- 30:03I mean, what a gift it is to live in this and to know that
- 30:06your reality starts to change as you attune more to this and
- 30:09you're being shown that. I mean, when you sit in that,
- 30:13that can change the entire course of someone's day.
- 30:15And then it's the craziest thing is it's like you get the e-mail
- 30:17later that day. You're like, Oh my God, you
- 30:19know, the lights start turning green, you just lock in.
- 30:23So that's why when I, even when I work with people, when I
- 30:25encourage for people, you know, at the beginning is start
- 30:29tracking when things are rolling the right way, you know, because
- 30:33if you want to find the problems, you'll find them.
- 30:36If you want to find the solutions, you'll find them.
- 30:37If you want to find the good, you'll find, If you want to find
- 30:39the bad, you'll find it. So what are you going to start
- 30:42to look at? Because what you're looking at
- 30:44is what you're watering and what you water is what's going to
- 30:46grow. So we want to grow the right
- 30:49things. But long story long, removing
- 30:52the timeline is huge. It is everything.
- 30:56And it, it really removes that notion of I'm failing because
- 30:59what's your new metric of success?
- 31:01Maybe it changes. You can hold on to that big
- 31:04vision, but hold on to it for not even hold on to it.
- 31:07View it for the excitement and how good it feels.
- 31:11Oh my gosh, that's going to you know what?
- 31:13I've decided that's happened. It's all my heart.
- 31:14It's all my heart. God, I don't, you know what your
- 31:15plan? I don't know how it's going to
- 31:17unfold. I don't know how it's going to
- 31:18go, but I'm excited for this. Oh, it feels so good.
- 31:20And then you focus on the day ahead.
- 31:22Well, again, like there's no other thing to other than say
- 31:25yes, yes to all of this. I, I heard a sermon 2 weeks ago
- 31:29and it was, it landed so amazing for me because it was talking
- 31:32about this aspect of waiting. And really that's what you're
- 31:35insinuating is this aspect of like, you know, that you have
- 31:38the ability to achieve, you know, that that's possible for
- 31:41you at some point. And you're also where you are
- 31:44now. And so you're trying to find
- 31:46this kind of like comfort in, well, OK, well, how do I sit in
- 31:49this? And so one of the things that
- 31:51was kind of shared was this aspect of like, don't waste the
- 31:54waiting. And it came down to like even
- 31:58for myself, back to timeline, I had such even like truthfully,
- 32:02as of three months ago, I was talking about the fact that I
- 32:04felt like a failure because I was like, I'm 32, I'm not
- 32:07married, I don't have kids. This is not where I thought I
- 32:09was going to be at this age. And I thought, OK, well, I can't
- 32:13reproduce as a solo person of 1 logistically, So what are we
- 32:18going to do about it? So I thought, OK, well, I'm in
- 32:20this waiting period. It is the intention.
- 32:22I know that that is something that I desire, but we're in this
- 32:27waiting period of, OK, well, I'm in this process.
- 32:29I'm sitting in it. What do I do about it?
- 32:31I can be upset about it and ruminate on it and be frustrated
- 32:34and, you know, just constantly keep the same movie playing.
- 32:38Or I can be OK. Well, how do I work in the
- 32:41waiting? And I think that this is in
- 32:43anything. It can be if you don't have the
- 32:45family you want. It could be if you don't have
- 32:46the money you want, if you don't have the business that you want.
- 32:50I see a lot of people when they have a goal that they're going
- 32:53for that they just kind of sit and they're like, when's it
- 32:55coming? It's just going to land like a
- 32:57gift on my front doorstep. And like now it's here.
- 33:01And I think the thing that I see that's the differentiator is
- 33:04like what you're doing in the process.
- 33:06And I love what you said because I think what you're doing.
- 33:09And I think it's important for everyone to really tune into
- 33:11what he's saying. There's an appreciation for the
- 33:14process as much as there is for the current state and the
- 33:17destination, like all of it is considered equal value.
- 33:21And so I would probably argue that those who love that
- 33:25process, who see those birds chirping, who see the winds, who
- 33:28catch the momentum, who tune into the positive things also
- 33:33create. We literally know this about the
- 33:34subconscious. It will show you and provide you
- 33:38more positive opportunities, or it will have positive
- 33:42opportunities that were there the entire time.
- 33:44But because of the way you had your perception dialed into
- 33:47negativity, you let them completely pass you by.
- 33:52And that's why you're not winning.
- 33:53And yet you attribute it to be like, yeah, like, it's just not
- 33:56happening for me yet. So like, I'm obsessed with what
- 33:59you just shared. And I think it's really
- 34:00important for everyone to dial in because this idea of like,
- 34:03I'm not where I want to be. I think we can probably say that
- 34:07in any category of our life because to your point earlier,
- 34:10there's always this future destination, date, happiness
- 34:13that's constantly happening. Agreed.
- 34:15And and what I will say too is I always joke because this is just
- 34:18how my journey has gone. You know, I say the minute I
- 34:20land, God gives me my next boarding pass.
- 34:23And so you're always arriving and you're always departing.
- 34:27So sometimes we have this notion of, OK, well, when I land, it's
- 34:30never that. It's always it's so much of it
- 34:33isn't here. So I would even encourage for
- 34:35everyone, I mean, if you really, you know, when I'm in the season
- 34:38right now too, I'm planting new seeds, right?
- 34:40If you sit with the seeds, you're planting the power behind
- 34:45that. Like you really think about,
- 34:46it's not about throwing spaghetti at the wall.
- 34:49Intentional, being very intentional with what you're
- 34:52doing, what you're doing in that waiting period.
- 34:55You're enjoying the wait. You know, you're farming as
- 34:57such, you're planting new seeds, right?
- 34:59And when you really sit with that, that is incredible.
- 35:03And what I tell people who especially have really, really
- 35:07high callings really, which by the way, all callings are equal,
- 35:10but in terms of, you know, some people in the world might be
- 35:13huge exposure, right? So my advice would be be it now
- 35:19and not even for the sake of, you know, be it before you see
- 35:22it yes, but when you understand that you don't need that metric
- 35:27of success to validate that that's you, you've won, you've
- 35:31opened it up, you've attuned to it.
- 35:33Boom. Like I'm talking, I don't care
- 35:35if you are in the tiniest, cutest little apartment and you
- 35:37one day see yourself in the big house, you're going to be in all
- 35:39these stages. Whatever it is, own it now
- 35:41perform for the windows, right. I mean, just live it.
- 35:45And when you do that, you have found the satisfaction that you
- 35:49were seeking at that level, but you found it.
- 35:52Now, that doesn't mean you're giving up the dream.
- 35:55It means you're lining up for the dream, right?
- 35:57You got to get in the car. So it's all, I have all these
- 35:59different analogies, but it's, I mean, literally, it's like
- 36:01you're driving up a mountain. That's what it is.
- 36:03So own it, be it, it's, it's you right now.
- 36:08And in doing that, you've, you're just, you're in the flow.
- 36:11You're just in the flow and it makes such a difference.
- 36:14So I can see the person listening to this and they
- 36:17think, OK, so don't focus on the destination.
- 36:20Be in the process, be in the flow, acknowledge the the micro
- 36:23milestone. I love the idea of it's not
- 36:25about getting to step A-Z. It's about A to B.
- 36:28And you guys have heard me say like the terms of like bite by
- 36:31bite, right? Like taking it piece by piece,
- 36:32which was a great phrase passed on by George Bryant.
- 36:35And that idea of like the next step is really all you really
- 36:40have control over. And so I'm curious when someone
- 36:43feels like they're in this process and they feel unsettled,
- 36:47they feel uneasy, they're like, but Taylor, like, I want that.
- 36:51And I'm worried that like, if I just focus on the next step,
- 36:54what if Z doesn't happen, right? Like what if my dream doesn't
- 36:58happen? Or what if the destination
- 36:59doesn't occur? What if the result doesn't
- 37:01happen? Is there anything that you might
- 37:04say to the person who's struggling to be patient in the
- 37:09process? I honestly would say for that
- 37:13specific person, there needs to be even an additional level of
- 37:18release on that final outcome, which means the energy in which
- 37:22you're placing needs to be more onto the seeds you're currently
- 37:24planting, right? So it's like, I don't know, it's
- 37:28like if you're building a house, right?
- 37:30OK. But I really want that.
- 37:31I can see my family in the living room.
- 37:32I can see it. I can see it.
- 37:33I need it. I understand that.
- 37:34Let's pour the concrete for the foundation for.
- 37:36Do you know what I mean? So it really, it really is.
- 37:38Where are we looking? And here's the thing, you can.
- 37:40So there's a difference between the desire and the wanting and
- 37:46the certainty and the feeling of certainty that releases the want
- 37:52because I'm in the certainty, it satisfies the craving.
- 37:56And then you also don't need that craving.
- 37:59But then you line up to get that, if that makes sense.
- 38:01So that's a piece of it. So what I would say to that
- 38:04person is and by the way, you know, I know for people
- 38:06listening, we have high achievers that are listening on
- 38:09here. We have any gram threes on here,
- 38:10right? So I know that.
- 38:12So the reason I do this is I I want to balance everybody out.
- 38:15You can't be all the way on the side of I mean, you could, but
- 38:18it would just be very different, like entirely flow.
- 38:20There's no structure, none of that.
- 38:21We don't have any issue with it. We know we have structure.
- 38:24I'm a planner too. I'm a type A minus.
- 38:26That's what I say. I'm a type or AB plus, right.
- 38:29But I know we have some type AS listening and I know we have
- 38:31some some driven people. You know rationally what you
- 38:35have to do. We all know we have bills to
- 38:36pay. We all are keeping track of our
- 38:38finances. We know how much we have to
- 38:39make. We have our goals.
- 38:42What does it mean to offset that, to balance out the scales?
- 38:45And when you're balanced, you're also able to receive the ideas.
- 38:49Sometimes you come up against an internal wall because there's
- 38:53too much push. And when you get to a place of
- 38:58needing, which turns into fear, fear like cuts you off
- 39:01spiritually and you need to be tapped in spiritually,
- 39:05especially when you're doing these crazy intuitive things and
- 39:08you're building all of this right.
- 39:09So prioritizing that time is key.
- 39:11So what I would also say is, you know, when it comes to doing
- 39:14things, you don't have to be in a space 24/7, You know, where
- 39:18you're dancing out in the field. I mean, that's great too.
- 39:20But you know, have your intentional time where you're
- 39:22working, you're getting things done, and you're amping yourself
- 39:25up before you do that. You're getting in the right head
- 39:27space and also having your intentional time where you spend
- 39:31time in the quiet, you spend time reflecting, you spend time
- 39:34in the gratitude to continue to nourish and fill yourself.
- 39:38So that balance, that's really the key.
- 39:41It's so good. It's all just so.
- 39:43It's so good. It's so good.
- 39:46OK, so I want to take a quick little brief interruption from
- 39:48today's episode to let you know about something really exciting.
- 39:51And I want to 1st preface, there is nothing here that I have to
- 39:54sell you. This is about something that is
- 39:55entirely free that I think would be a massive support for you if
- 39:59you are someone who's loving all things Ambitious podcast.
- 40:03So we have created an absolutely incredible community that is
- 40:06called the Ambitious Network. This is really a place where
- 40:09coaching and masterminds meet high level networking of other
- 40:12women who were just like you. So a little bit of what you can
- 40:15anticipate. This is a place for you to grow,
- 40:17to connect, and ultimately to get the support that you need to
- 40:19elevate your business. And so some of the things you
- 40:22can anticipate inside #1 live Hot Seat Coaching.
- 40:25This is literally live coaching in the way that I would do
- 40:27inside of our masterminds, our different offers only inside of
- 40:31this community, entirely free. You'll also get the opportunity
- 40:33to get access to exclusive giveaways that are not available
- 40:36anywhere else. So these are things like
- 40:38giveaways of different books and resources that I'm obsessed with
- 40:41that have really helped me in my journey of business, but also
- 40:45things on a larger scale, like some of which have been six
- 40:48months of private coaching type of giveaways.
- 40:50So all of this to be said, massive, massive amount of
- 40:53resources being given inside and also trainings and resources,
- 40:57tools of frameworks and downloads and worksheets and
- 41:00master classes that are going to be things that will really help
- 41:03to take you and your business to the next level.
- 41:05Now, it's also not just about me.
- 41:07I have an incredible network and a community of other
- 41:09entrepreneurs who also want to give back to you if you've loved
- 41:13their interviews and their discussions on the Ambitious
- 41:15podcast. So we have guests that are also
- 41:17providing resources in the community that will only be
- 41:20available inside the ambitious network.
- 41:22But there's also the networking aspect.
- 41:24And this is a place for you to not Only Connect with other
- 41:26women about what's going on in your business, what's currently
- 41:29working or not working in today's current market.
- 41:32It's a place to share wins, but it's also a place to connect
- 41:34with me and get my feedback and support for you and your
- 41:37business. Now all of that to be said, this
- 41:40is a, as I said, mastermind meets networking.
- 41:43And I really have created this as a community that I want to be
- 41:47something you've never gotten anywhere else.
- 41:49It's not this low ticket membership that you feel like
- 41:51you're paying for. You know, this graveyard of
- 41:53resources that the person has they don't know what to do with.
- 41:56And it's also not that Facebook group that you're inside of that
- 41:58you feel like you get tons of notifications, but you don't
- 42:00really want anything that's inside of it.
- 42:02It all feels surface level. We want to give you the ability
- 42:06to have mastermind meets high level networking all in one
- 42:09place. And the ambitious network is
- 42:10where you're going to find that. So how you can get inside?
- 42:13If you want to go to the show notes beneath, you can click a
- 42:15link to join joining us inside the Ambitious network.
- 42:18And if you also want to connect with me on Instagram, I'm also
- 42:20happy to chat with you about it. So if you DM me the word
- 42:23ambitious, we'll be sure to chat a little bit more about the
- 42:25network for you and give you the link to get inside.
- 42:28So all of that to be said, I don't want to take any more time
- 42:30away from today's episode with. So without further ado, let's
- 42:33get back into the show. OK, so someone's listening to
- 42:36like, OK, so I feel like I've got tools now to understand
- 42:39where does my concern or fear of failure come from or how do I
- 42:44kind of navigate those emotions? We've kind of looked at some
- 42:47opportunities to really tune into the present and to be able
- 42:50to be create purpose within the waiting or purpose within the
- 42:54process. And you mentioned fear of
- 42:56success. And I will tell you, and I know
- 42:58you're going to laugh at this. I will tell you, I have talked
- 43:01to so many entrepreneurs who are like, that's not real.
- 43:04No one is scared of. It's very real.
- 43:07No one's scared of going viral. No one's scared of doubling
- 43:11their business. Why would someone be scared of
- 43:13having massive success of everything they've ever wanted?
- 43:16And so if I could pass like the virtual mic to you, I would love
- 43:21to hear you speak into someone who maybe one of two things.
- 43:25There's some people who don't understand what does it mean to
- 43:28be scared to succeed? Because I think many, again, if
- 43:32we're thinking about I want that goal, I want that goal.
- 43:34Why would I be mad or upset or sad or frustrated about hitting
- 43:39that goal when it's everything that I've ever wanted and
- 43:41dreamed of? And I also know to your point,
- 43:44we do have massive high achievers.
- 43:47And I think that my perception of the fear of success is that
- 43:52some people think it's obvious. And in my opinion, fear of
- 43:55success oftentimes is very hidden.
- 43:57In people's behavior, literally I just wrote hidden.
- 44:01Because people think like I'm doing what I need to do to have
- 44:05success. Like of course I want success
- 44:07and consciously. And I can speak to this with
- 44:1025,000,000 examples of what this has shown up as in my business.
- 44:14You mentioned the 2 words which I I think are so important for
- 44:17people to remember is self sabotage.
- 44:20And I think that that's the way that it's hidden because so many
- 44:23of us don't consciously see the behaviors because we're in it.
- 44:27We, it's like saying, oh, I want to see my own triggers.
- 44:29It's very difficult to do. I want to see my own limiting
- 44:31beliefs. But fear of success is so
- 44:35incredibly real. And I see it with so many
- 44:37scaling entrepreneurs that I work with.
- 44:39And so I'm curious, like to you, what does you know that fear
- 44:43success look like or what does that mean?
- 44:45And maybe what are some ways that you see that show up
- 44:49potentially through self sabotage or other types of
- 44:52symptoms? Yeah, fear of success.
- 44:54I mean, first of all, it is very, very real.
- 44:56Because here's the thing, it's very easy to say I see the
- 44:59vision and the vision is meant to be the breadcrumb, right?
- 45:03Or it's meant to be the yellow brick road.
- 45:04It's it's Oz. Sorry.
- 45:05It's it's meant to be the big OK, this is where I'm going.
- 45:08But then there's who you have to become and develop into, which
- 45:12is really the core you in order to get there, which means you
- 45:16have to confront all parts of you.
- 45:18That's also scary. A lot of the fear of success.
- 45:21So let's even even from like a social media perspective, people
- 45:24have a fear of being seen because it goes back to that
- 45:26fear that there's something wrong with me.
- 45:27Well, if I become so exposed, Oh my God, they're going to find
- 45:30out whatever, which usually that's like nothing really,
- 45:33right? Or it's the shame you're holding
- 45:34onto from something perhaps in your childhood.
- 45:36That's why doing shadow work is unbelievable when you start just
- 45:40writing. What I would even encourage
- 45:42everyone to do is even just, you know, listen to, you know, some
- 45:45beautiful instrumental music or anything to just get you in the
- 45:48zone, right? And just start writing.
- 45:51Like if you feel like you're coming up against frustration or
- 45:53resist, just write. It does.
- 45:55It's not going to make any sense.
- 45:56Get it out on no one's ever going to see it.
- 45:57Get it out on paper, swear, do whatever you got to do.
- 45:59Just write. Just write.
- 46:00Just write. If you keep on writing, you'll
- 46:01hit it. You're going to hit it and
- 46:03you'll know because immediately you feel the emotion, you'll
- 46:05feel something clear through you.
- 46:07You have to illuminate that because then going back to our
- 46:10first concept, the illusion, you recognize that's all smoke and
- 46:13mirrors, right? For me, I did some writing a
- 46:17ways back and I felt myself coming up against this.
- 46:21I'm going, what the heck? And it, it presented itself
- 46:24through the frustration. But if I didn't have the
- 46:26frustration, I wouldn't have gone in to go figure out what
- 46:28was going on. So I needed those breakdown
- 46:31moments. So I started writing and writing
- 46:32and writing, and I just wrote this and I'll never forget.
- 46:34I wrote. I feel like I'm a burden to
- 46:38anyone I'm around and that I have no actual value and that
- 46:41I'm a nuisance. And I went, whoa, OK, didn't
- 46:46know what's holding on to that. Immediate tears, immediate
- 46:49tears. Now consciously did I think, no,
- 46:52no, I understand the value, you know, but subconsciously there
- 46:55was a really core wounded part of, of younger inner tailor that
- 46:58was going, hey, that's that's what we're feeling.
- 47:01And I could look at that and go, whoa, if God was trying to
- 47:05illuminate that, then that means the opposite is true.
- 47:08Whoa. And I meditated on that.
- 47:10I sat with that. I went, oh, my gosh.
- 47:13The more that you bring it to light, you're able to identify
- 47:17what that illusion is. So it has to be looked at.
- 47:20I always say the forest is the way home.
- 47:22But ask yourself, do I fear being seen?
- 47:25And for some people, it's money. This is a big one because we go,
- 47:29Oh my God, you know, I can't wait to have, you know,
- 47:30$1,000,000. And then you look at your bank
- 47:33account, you're in debt. You're like, well, I don't even
- 47:34know. Oh my God, taxes.
- 47:35What's going to happen with that?
- 47:36Who do I even go? So then your brain starts to go,
- 47:38whoa, we can't do that. When the reality is, first of
- 47:42all, to get to that level, you'll be presented with the
- 47:44right people, the opportunities, you do the research, all of
- 47:46that. So that would go back to, OK, So
- 47:49what is that core fear? I don't know how to manage
- 47:51money. You know, I'm not able to,
- 47:54whatever it might be, go back to that, identify where that came
- 47:57from. And even the money store you
- 48:00have, we don't think about how our family responded to money
- 48:04growing up, you know, did your parents come home and oh God,
- 48:07work to do and blah, blah, blah. What do you do at work?
- 48:09We, we make money. So now you're attributing money
- 48:12to I hate work. Do you know what I mean?
- 48:14So it's all connected. So it's easy to say I want all
- 48:17this big stuff, but then to go, oh, but there's a really,
- 48:20there's a wounded part of me that's scared of it.
- 48:23Start writing, sit on it and listen.
- 48:25You know, seek and you shall find asking it is given if you
- 48:27set the intention. Show this to me.
- 48:30I'm ready to walk through this. Show this to me.
- 48:34It will come up to you in ways that you don't expect, but it'll
- 48:37be presented. So maybe it's this podcast, it's
- 48:39triggering something or it's pulling something up and someone
- 48:41sit, write about it. Write what's bothering you.
- 48:44Write what feels good. Just start writing and you'll
- 48:47illuminate that, right? Once you illuminate that, then
- 48:51you want to start to think about.
- 48:52So what is now the truth I'm choosing to accept?
- 48:55OK, what are the beliefs that I actually am ready to embody that
- 48:59are going to help me start to walk in this direction?
- 49:01Because I've decided that that success is for me.
- 49:04But I've also decided that I get to be safe in the process of
- 49:07going there. And it's not all going to happen
- 49:10right now, which is amazing. So let me think about the next
- 49:13piece, right? So then that helps you get out
- 49:15of this place of feeling paralyzed and you can take your
- 49:18first step. I love that I, I had a resource
- 49:21that was passed on from a mentor to me that was called fear
- 49:24journaling. And he was like, I want you to
- 49:25get a separate journal. And all I want you to put in
- 49:28this is the negative thoughts, emotions, feelings and things
- 49:32that come up in you. This is not a place where you're
- 49:34going to journal about the guy you like.
- 49:35It's not a place where you're going to plan out your vision
- 49:37for your year. This is not about positivity.
- 49:39You're going to open this and it's only a place for
- 49:41negativity. And I'm thinking this feels a
- 49:43little bit intense. Do I want to have this journal?
- 49:46So I started to think about is this really something that I
- 49:48want to have? So I still able to go.
- 49:50I said, well, how do I know I'm done?
- 49:51He's like, you'll know when you're done.
- 49:53And I was like, OK, so I put on same thing.
- 49:56I put on some music and I got this journal and I started going
- 49:59and like 12 pages later, I remember that moment like you
- 50:03said that you wrote something down you go, oh, and I remember
- 50:06writing down same thing, worthless, never going to make
- 50:10it behind in life. And I thought, Oh my gosh, when
- 50:13I started to just have this like light bulb moment where you see
- 50:17it, you read it in a different way that you don't feel it.
- 50:20You're like, that's not me. Like I'm, I'm writing it, I'm
- 50:22saying it, I'm putting this down.
- 50:25But somehow in me, that doesn't feel like me.
- 50:28And I think the thing that many people don't take time to do is
- 50:34to acknowledge what those are. So to your point about money,
- 50:38like if you're like, great, I want to have a 7 figure
- 50:40business. So like for me, and we've, you
- 50:42know, talked about it very briefly on this podcast, like
- 50:45one of my grandparents won the lottery and did not share that
- 50:49wealth with the family. So like for me, having a 7
- 50:53figure business was not just about 7 figures.
- 50:55It was about this whole history of family drama about, you know,
- 50:59money and what the seven figures or $1,000,000 meant in my family
- 51:03specifically in context to all of these other things.
- 51:06And so for me, when I went in business, I thought $1,000,000
- 51:08is $1,000,000 in revenue. Great.
- 51:10Like it's just, it's a successful number to get to.
- 51:13No, it was this whole idea of like bouncing back and showing
- 51:16my worth and showing my family that we're going to be fine and
- 51:20I'm going to do it and we don't need the lottery and all of
- 51:22these things. And it was not ever something
- 51:27that I consciously connected the dots on.
- 51:30I just thought, I hustle, I work hard.
- 51:32I just want $1,000,000 just because.
- 51:35And so it wasn't until you start to allow space.
- 51:39And I, I love that idea of just not going in with a goal because
- 51:43I think so many of us like high achievers, like what's the
- 51:45outcome? What's the outcome?
- 51:46Or how do I know I've done it right?
- 51:48Going in to just Createspace and say whatever comes up is
- 51:51supposed to come out is something that I think so few of
- 51:56us take space to do. And so sometimes because we're
- 51:59so in the pursuit of the success, we don't really ask
- 52:03ourselves why do we even want it?
- 52:05And also with that, where does it come from?
- 52:08If we're like, OK, great. I'm I'm super scared of getting
- 52:11there. The other thing that was
- 52:12connected to my fear around things was also doing some
- 52:16analysis as well of like, why do I want 7 figures?
- 52:20And when someone asked me other than the number, I couldn't
- 52:23answer it. Like I said, OK, like great.
- 52:25Obviously you want to make 7 figures a year.
- 52:26That's amazing. I love that goal for you and
- 52:28comma. Why do you want that?
- 52:31And I'm like, well, just because, you know, 7 figures,
- 52:33like, no, I hear what you're saying, but what's the deeper
- 52:37why? And I also think there's an
- 52:39aspect of when people don't understand the depth underneath
- 52:43the superficial surface goal, we sometimes don't understand the
- 52:47emotions, the thoughts, the programming, the beliefs that
- 52:50are part of the achievement of that.
- 52:53So, yeah, So like I think that that's also a huge part when
- 52:57people think, well, why would I be scared to succeed?
- 53:00When you achieve it, you have to embrace the identity of it, the
- 53:03beliefs of it, the behavior of it all, and healing all the past
- 53:07wounds that that might bring up to the surface when it happens.
- 53:10Like there's so much that expands, evolves and opens when
- 53:14you go for it, whatever it may be.
- 53:16So to your point of being seen, if you're somebody who has a
- 53:19fear of being seen and you are like, great, I'm going to be a
- 53:22content creator. I'm going to be a business.
- 53:23I'm going to start to post online and your video goes
- 53:26viral. You're going to have a visceral
- 53:28reaction because you just got deeply seen by the Internet.
- 53:33And if you don't know, like the practices that Taylor's talking
- 53:37about, if you don't have these tools, you go, oh, that didn't
- 53:40feel good. I was way too seen and I wasn't
- 53:42comfortable being seen. So now we retreat.
- 53:44And that ultimately I see as a pattern for people that they
- 53:48kind of tricked themselves out of success because they don't
- 53:52understand where the fear around their success is actually rooted
- 53:55in. It's so powerful and yes.
- 53:58And I think what you just hit is so huge, which is what is the
- 54:02motive behind what we're doing and why.
- 54:05And you know what, it was easy for me to say even at the
- 54:07beginning of my content creation journey, like, Oh yeah, it's
- 54:10going to be exciting what, you know, viral, all this and that,
- 54:13like it, you are given what you can handle.
- 54:17And with, I mean, even just using the configuration example,
- 54:20you know, with virality, you have a lot of different people
- 54:24that are coming over. You have people with opposing
- 54:26views and some have really intense opposing views, right?
- 54:28And so all of that. And so it makes sense.
- 54:32You're given what you can chew, right?
- 54:34And you're given what you can handle at the time.
- 54:36That's a gift. So, you know, especially for
- 54:40those that are going, OK, well, I'm coming up against something.
- 54:42It's just not there. I mean, really take time, take
- 54:45stock, look at where you are right about it.
- 54:47Sit with it. Have a sobering conversation
- 54:50with yourself. What did you learn from the
- 54:51failure that you tangibly need to implement, right?
- 54:55What did you learn? I mean, what are you learning,
- 54:57right? And as you sit with that, then
- 55:00you get in the right headspace and into that beautiful place of
- 55:03gratitude and joy for the fact that you're able to even walk
- 55:07towards this, the fact that there's even been an open door
- 55:10for you to even pursue this, right?
- 55:13And also thinking about it this way, this has helped me so much
- 55:17with the timeline thing. Sometimes I don't even think we
- 55:19have a set, you know, timeline or date in our heads.
- 55:22It's just like now, now, now, now.
- 55:23And we're going, what? What the heck, you know?
- 55:26And then I say to myself, I said, wait a second.
- 55:28I said, let me be honest, Do I even want this now?
- 55:30And I said, what? You know, I'm like, if I'm on
- 55:32vacation, I'm not rushing for it to end.
- 55:34Why am I rushing for this to end right now, right?
- 55:37I'm not rushing. And I say to myself, you know,
- 55:39there's certain things I'm going, well, maybe I'll be when
- 55:42I'm 40. I have never asked that that I
- 55:47love how simple. And by the way, I want to say
- 55:49all the things that are actually successful are always simple.
- 55:51Like you want to, yes, equally move your body, right?
- 55:54That's it's always simple. I love that question because I'm
- 55:58thinking about that in so many contexts for the person
- 56:00listening and even myself. I'm like, I'm so deeply, like I
- 56:03want to be a mom. I want to be a mom.
- 56:04It's always been something I've wanted.
- 56:06And I think to myself in this moment, if I had a kid tomorrow,
- 56:07would you be happy? And I'm like, Oh, I'm not ready.
- 56:10Like, right, so there's this, if I handed it to you tomorrow, can
- 56:15you handle it? And I think like or could, would
- 56:18you want it? Is it still exactly what you
- 56:20desire? And I think that in my body, my
- 56:24instant answer is like, no, like I would want process.
- 56:26And I think that goes back to your earlier point of like
- 56:28exactly why you use this time to mentally, emotionally,
- 56:33spiritually prepare yourself for what is the intention of what it
- 56:37is you want to go for. I love that question.
- 56:40If I gave it to you today. Would you be able to handle it?
- 56:42Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 56:43I asked. I mean, that was one of the, I
- 56:46think on my, my socials last year.
- 56:47That was a huge one that I, that I ended up asking.
- 56:49I said, if it dropped in your lap right now, would you be
- 56:51ready to handle it? And it is so freeing to be like,
- 56:53oh, no, not really, you know, but it, it, you might not be
- 56:56able to handle the full capacity of it right now, depending on
- 56:59what, what that is for everyone. But again, then you start to
- 57:02say, oh, I kind of like that I have a staircase.
- 57:04I kind of like that I'm not being thrown into this.
- 57:05And my nervous system is going to be all, you know,
- 57:07discombobulated, you know, let it be actionable.
- 57:09And when you really think about it, I mean, personally, I think
- 57:13I'm going, oh, my gosh. You know, we're young.
- 57:16And I don't care how old anyone listening to this is.
- 57:18There's always time, right? I mean, you know, we have so
- 57:21many more years ahead of us. What is the rush and why?
- 57:25And if I'm rushing now when I get there, would I rush then?
- 57:29Because when I get there, I would want it to slow.
- 57:32I want to savor this. But am I on the hamster wheel?
- 57:34So I'm telling you, when you position yourself like it's such
- 57:36a gift to work through this now, then when you're at that level
- 57:40and you're the same person needing to work through all the
- 57:43same things, but everything is amplified and you have so much
- 57:47more on your plate and you have, you know what I mean?
- 57:49So it's just beautiful. So it's enjoying and savouring
- 57:53the journey is recognizing like you're always on the journey.
- 57:55You're never not, it never ends. There's no finish line and that
- 57:59would be unfortunate if there was.
- 58:01Could you imagine if you hit your finish line at, you know,
- 58:0340 years old and you're like, what, what am I going to do for
- 58:05the night? You know, thank goodness you
- 58:06keep having, you know, you arrive somewhere, you nourish,
- 58:09you know, and then, oh, I'm excited for this pivot.
- 58:11So leading with that curiosity and that excitement for the
- 58:14journey. It changes a lot, you know, and
- 58:17even these perspective shifts that we have today, Oh my gosh,
- 58:22like if anyone listen, just go about the rest of your day
- 58:24today, anyone listening and just don't enjoy, you know, go listen
- 58:27to the birds go, you know, that's because just just because
- 58:30and see what ideas pop up and you know, see what starts to
- 58:33line up, it all unfolds. Into a session with my therapist
- 58:37and I was telling her just transparently for everybody.
- 58:40I was like so frustrated with my timeline because I was like, you
- 58:42know, it's just not where I was supposed to be at this age.
- 58:45And she's like, well, you know, I'm going to be honest.
- 58:47You could completely, royally messed up the next two years of
- 58:50your life and you would be perfectly fine.
- 58:52And I'm like, oh, OK, so she's like, I think we should assume
- 58:56that you're going to do that. And I was like, oh, OK, So she's
- 59:00like, I want you to live the next two years of your life
- 59:02assuming that everything could perfectly go wrong the way that
- 59:06it's supposed to and that you will still be fine.
- 59:08And that's going to be your motto is like, I'm just going to
- 59:10live assuming that the next two years I get to do whatever I
- 59:13want and it doesn't matter in the longer timeline.
- 59:16And it was interesting because while it seems on one hand very
- 59:19negative, you think, oh, I don't want to assume that I'm going to
- 59:20mess up the next two years. It gives you this permission
- 59:23slip to be like, I get to be free.
- 59:26And just the reality is eventually you're going to get
- 59:28to this age and you're going to get to a point in your life,
- 59:29whether it's age or wisdom that comes first.
- 59:32And you're going to realize that it is that way the entire time.
- 59:35Like people get to this place where they realize, well, you
- 59:38know, this is life. So what it's going to be is
- 59:39going to be and the belief or the desire to control is only
- 59:44because you so deeply fear and are not comfortable with having
- 59:47to sit in the present. And so I think like there's,
- 59:52there's just so much today. Obviously you guys can first of
- 59:54all break. This is also why I'm obsessed
- 59:57with his content. OK, like just, I just wanted to
- 59:59hear him speak for like 7 hours a day.
- 1:00:01It's fine. I want to hit on.
- 1:00:03Something you mentioned earlier, because I think this is
- 1:00:06something that many people probably don't have experience
- 1:00:08with or exposure to, which is the idea of getting found out
- 1:00:12and the idea of getting, you know, people seeing that I'm
- 1:00:16basically not perfect or in whatever capacity that is.
- 1:00:20And I feel like many of us consciously again, tell
- 1:00:26ourselves like, of course I'm not perfect, right?
- 1:00:29Of course I, of course I don't have the, the perfect aesthetic
- 1:00:31or the perfect income or the perfect business or the perfect,
- 1:00:34whatever it might be. But I think again,
- 1:00:36subconsciously that's very different.
- 1:00:38And I'm curious when you have worked with people who have this
- 1:00:41fear of like, but what if they find out?
- 1:00:44What do you usually find underneath that?
- 1:00:47Well, that's the whole thing. It's all smoke and mirrors.
- 1:00:49It's all it's it's this. Oh my God.
- 1:00:51What? They're going to find out What?
- 1:00:53OK, what are they going to find out?
- 1:00:54Tell me that you feel like you're worthless, that you feel
- 1:01:00like you don't have any value. We all know that everyone else
- 1:01:04can see more value in us than we can see in ourselves.
- 1:01:07So the core of that and you know, maybe that there's some
- 1:01:10tangible personal things that people have to come to terms
- 1:01:12with and come, you know, make peace with, right, instead of
- 1:01:15just talking things. But for the most part, that's
- 1:01:17really illuminating that fear that we each are fundamentally
- 1:01:24there's a piece of us missing. We're not whole.
- 1:01:26We're not, you know, and it's looking at that and realizing
- 1:01:29that in itself is an illusion. Where did that come from?
- 1:01:33Why is that there? Write about it.
- 1:01:34Tell me. Write a whole dissertation on
- 1:01:35it. Tell me.
- 1:01:36Well, because of right. And so when you do that, you're
- 1:01:40able to kind of confront that and go, it's the same thing that
- 1:01:43you experience that we both experience when we're writing.
- 1:01:45You look at that, you go, oh, and you're like, I didn't even
- 1:01:49realize I was holding on to it. You've been operating in that
- 1:01:52place and we do start this. We go, why am I doing this?
- 1:01:54But then you look at that and you go, OK, wait a second.
- 1:01:57Where did that belief come from? And then that's, you know, I
- 1:02:00call it like a return to sender moment, you know, return that
- 1:02:03belief back. That's an Amazon package you
- 1:02:05opened illegally, right? It's not, it wasn't yours,
- 1:02:07right? And so and so that's huge.
- 1:02:09And So what I find and I found with myself and with a lot of
- 1:02:12other people, it's that it's just this illusion that we are
- 1:02:17somehow like scum of the earth, you know, and it's just not
- 1:02:20true. It's not true.
- 1:02:22And, you know, you go, why do I feel that?
- 1:02:25Like that doesn't make any sense.
- 1:02:26There's no, like, I, I have no evidence of that.
- 1:02:29Of course I'm human. I'm not perfect.
- 1:02:31And, you know, life is life and life keeps moving.
- 1:02:34But it's, I mean, you look at everyone.
- 1:02:35It's like that in itself. And this is the beautiful thing.
- 1:02:38When we think that there's something wrong with us, we go,
- 1:02:40oh, my God, like I must, I'm the only one.
- 1:02:43Like there must I, I see I have no worth.
- 1:02:46Well, that in itself is a universal experience.
- 1:02:49Everybody feels that you could talk to, you know, celebrities
- 1:02:53or anyone at at different areas. Everybody is human.
- 1:02:58You know, when I've talked to a lot of people, I mean really
- 1:03:00it's everybody has those feelings.
- 1:03:04You know, I think there's. Different.
- 1:03:05I think it's this constant moving benchmark.
- 1:03:09That's what it feels like. It feels like there's, it's just
- 1:03:11it's never done and there's always more.
- 1:03:15And I think that one of the things I always tell people when
- 1:03:17they say that, you know, in calls or clients, whatever it
- 1:03:20might be, your friends, like, I'm not where I'm supposed to
- 1:03:23be. And the common phrase I always
- 1:03:25ask is like, in comparison to what?
- 1:03:27Exactly. Because I think it's when we
- 1:03:30have these constant moving benchmarks.
- 1:03:34And so I always ask people like if you could look back on past
- 1:03:37self, even if it's past self of a year.
- 1:03:40But like for me, being in business for eight years when I
- 1:03:42started and I was a server with my apron on, sneaking in the
- 1:03:46back, scrolling Instagram, watching everyone live the life
- 1:03:48I wanted. Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 1:03:51Sorry, managers, I, I would have never fathomed being here on
- 1:03:58this show with you. Like like just even for us to
- 1:04:02connect on the Internet would have been like, what?
- 1:04:04Like I get to meet this amazing human that I met through
- 1:04:06Instagram. Like that would have never even
- 1:04:08been something that I would think possible, let alone having
- 1:04:11a business or any of like the you know, the accolades or any
- 1:04:14of those things. So in the moment, you just
- 1:04:18always feel like you're behind. And truthfully, even now, as
- 1:04:22I've said, and you know, depends on the bucket, but in many
- 1:04:25buckets of my life, I feel like it's not enough.
- 1:04:27Like could be more fit in comparison to what?
- 1:04:29I could be more successful in comparison to what?
- 1:04:32I could be making more money in comparison to what?
- 1:04:34And I find that if we start to look at past us, we're like, I'm
- 1:04:39killing it, right? Like I'm doing really well.
- 1:04:41And so I think the aspect of like, what if they find out one
- 1:04:46of the most powerful things that got shared with me at the
- 1:04:48beginning, because as I mentioned earlier, when I was in
- 1:04:50grade AI founded, I had a learning disability.
- 1:04:52And even as a business consultant, full transparency, I
- 1:04:54did not go to school for business.
- 1:04:56I built this basically bootstrap from the bottom and I have
- 1:05:00worked with businesses since that day.
- 1:05:02So I at the beginning had this aspect of almost like imposter
- 1:05:06syndrome because I was like, what if they find out?
- 1:05:09I'm a fraud, right? I'm a.
- 1:05:11Fraud. Yeah.
- 1:05:11Like what if they find out that I don't have the degree that
- 1:05:13they want me to have? What if they find out that I had
- 1:05:16a learning disability and even, you know, last year I I ended an
- 1:05:19engagement and I had this heavy pressure of like, what if they
- 1:05:24find out that this has happened? Like, what will people think of
- 1:05:27me? Will they want to hire me?
- 1:05:29And I, I love to your point of like celebrities, every stage of
- 1:05:32human feels this in some capacity.
- 1:05:35And what I realized was, well, what if they find out is only if
- 1:05:39I don't get to it first. So the mentor that I had chatted
- 1:05:43with had passed along. He said people only get to find
- 1:05:46out what you allow them to find out.
- 1:05:48Take it back, like own it as whatever it is.
- 1:05:52So the first episode I recorded was here's my family story.
- 1:05:56So we can just get that out of the way.
- 1:05:57And second of all, we're going to drop learning disability in
- 1:06:00there, drop not going to school for business and all the things
- 1:06:03that held so much weight for me. And I found this like massive
- 1:06:07freedom and this like weight off my shoulders because it was less
- 1:06:10of like, what if someone asks me?
- 1:06:12What if someone finds out? And now I own it as this like
- 1:06:15badge of honor. And I'm like, hey, if I'm not
- 1:06:17your person because of that, amazing.
- 1:06:19Like I that's all good. I will direct you in the
- 1:06:22direction of the person that if that is important to you, who
- 1:06:25you should work with. But I find for many people,
- 1:06:28there's a fear around owning it because they're like, but Kate,
- 1:06:32that's easy for you to say now that you're here.
- 1:06:34But I think it's a mindset personally, because it's really
- 1:06:37something that from the get go, I had to say, OK, 321, I'm going
- 1:06:41to embrace this because if I don't, it is this, to your
- 1:06:44point, this illusion that's over top of me in every move I make
- 1:06:49in business, in life, in anything.
- 1:06:52And if I don't own it, someone else is going to own it for me.
- 1:06:55And that takes all the power away from what it means to me
- 1:06:58specifically. Absolutely.
- 1:07:00And when you remove the power of what it is in the 1st place, I
- 1:07:04mean you can establish power to it or remove the power from it.
- 1:07:06It's what you and when someone else, let's say, oh, you didn't
- 1:07:10go to school for what whatever it might be, you've already come
- 1:07:13to terms with that. You're like, and here I am like
- 1:07:16it does. It doesn't even it wouldn't you
- 1:07:17wouldn't even blink at it. You wouldn't Even so, so much of
- 1:07:21it. The things that trigger us, of
- 1:07:21course, are it's those internal pieces that we have to come to
- 1:07:24terms with. And so even for people
- 1:07:26listening, it can start with the whole like, you know, I'm I'm
- 1:07:30going to lift it up. I'm going to feel really good.
- 1:07:31Or it can even just start with the all right, well, let me just
- 1:07:34let me, let me take a look at this for a second, Like let me
- 1:07:36accept this. Let me take a look at this.
- 1:07:38And, you know, this is really the truth of the matter is, you
- 1:07:42know, everyone listening, you're worthy of it.
- 1:07:44You are, you know, your your worth is innate.
- 1:07:47You know, every part of this beautiful creation is
- 1:07:49intentional, you know, And when the rabbit's going for the
- 1:07:52carrot, it's not like, am I worthy of the carrot?
- 1:07:54It just goes for the carrot, right.
- 1:07:56We just tend to, you know, overanalyze.
- 1:07:58Yeah. You know, it's like, you know,
- 1:08:00the sun's not like, should I rise the next day?
- 1:08:02Well, I hope you do, you know, like I'm going to need my
- 1:08:04vitamin D. So, you know, rise up.
- 1:08:06Rise up in in the posture of victory and walk like a
- 1:08:11foundational part of this beautiful creation.
- 1:08:13You know, you are someone who is here not by coincidence.
- 1:08:16Not like I don't know who's this person that just flew in here
- 1:08:17like you're here. You're here by design.
- 1:08:20You know, what's placed on your heart is beautifully there for
- 1:08:22you to walk towards. Not for reasons you may think.
- 1:08:24We don't know how it's going to unfold, but you got to start
- 1:08:26walking towards it and accept that otherwise life becomes it.
- 1:08:29It's just starting to get a little more confined, right?
- 1:08:31It's like trying to break out of a box, start walking towards it,
- 1:08:34and all this is really doing is inviting you to savor and
- 1:08:37embrace the meal in front of you rather than, well, what's next?
- 1:08:40Well, what's next? Well, hold on, the fillet is
- 1:08:42here, you know what I mean? And there's more and we're on a
- 1:08:45restaurant tour and then we're going to go to the next one.
- 1:08:47And so on your topic of the goal post, it is beautiful to say
- 1:08:51because you could even flip that to go like, Oh my God, there's
- 1:08:53always more. There's always more.
- 1:08:56It doesn't stop. There's always, Oh my gosh, like
- 1:09:00there's more to expand with, there's more to learn.
- 1:09:01There's ah, like what it's, it's incredible.
- 1:09:05So it's, it's looking at it with the right frame of mind and also
- 1:09:08saying, you know, if we're going towards something nearly
- 1:09:12unconsciously, like what is the goal post?
- 1:09:15I've asked this to people before.
- 1:09:16They're like, I don't know, you know, where some people have
- 1:09:20said, you know, I have to get ahead.
- 1:09:22I have to get ahead, get ahead of what?
- 1:09:24What's the OK, Like what's the metric of when will you know
- 1:09:26that you're there? I don't know, I guess, yeah,
- 1:09:28it's, it's in our minds, right. And so we can have a goal post,
- 1:09:32but acknowledge it, own it, you achieve it.
- 1:09:36Great. OK, well, now what gets to be
- 1:09:37the next one? It's like you get you get to
- 1:09:39just savor. So the more that you can embrace
- 1:09:41and being ground into who you are, where you are, all of this
- 1:09:44becomes really cool. You know, because it really is.
- 1:09:48I'm thinking for that that person because you brought up
- 1:09:50worthiness, which I think is something a lot of people don't
- 1:09:52acknowledge or talk about. It's kind of like this like
- 1:09:54hidden thing in the closet that none of us want to acknowledge.
- 1:09:57And I think there's many people that I've spoken to and who may
- 1:10:02be listening right now who feel that they're not worthy until
- 1:10:07right. So I'm I'm worthy of being a
- 1:10:10business owner when I get to this income.
- 1:10:13I'm worthy of being a content creator when I have X amount of
- 1:10:16followers. I'm worthy of, you know, signing
- 1:10:19that client when I have X credentials or I have to get
- 1:10:21that certification before I possibly could help somebody.
- 1:10:24I'm worthy of doing the podcast when I have all these this fancy
- 1:10:28equipment, this crazy setup, then at that moment I will be
- 1:10:32worthy of doing blank. And you hit on something so
- 1:10:35important because I think people obviously get this, the source
- 1:10:38of worthiness from different places.
- 1:10:40Some people, as you noted, will get some of that worthiness from
- 1:10:43faith and knowing that they are innately worthy regardless of
- 1:10:46all of those things. But I'm thinking for someone who
- 1:10:49maybe hasn't had a relationship with worthiness and maybe even
- 1:10:54potentially, which I have seen and know, especially in European
- 1:10:59families, when you're from certain types of upbringing, you
- 1:11:03also sometimes are programmed to not feel worthy until it's this
- 1:11:07destination place, right? So we talked about destination
- 1:11:10happiness, but I think there's this other part that you just
- 1:11:12uncovered there. I think so important, which is
- 1:11:15I'm worthy when. And I think this aspect of I'm
- 1:11:19worthy when is a very tricky place to be.
- 1:11:22Because if this is not even just about success, this is about in
- 1:11:26your moment as you listen to this feeling in your body, in
- 1:11:29your mind and your soul, I'm enough.
- 1:11:32No more money, no more clients, no more followers, Doesn't
- 1:11:34matter. I am enough for you or maybe for
- 1:11:38clients, whatever feels kind of it comes up for you.
- 1:11:41How do you get there? How did you get there to the
- 1:11:44place where you felt like regardless of this external
- 1:11:47environment, internally I'm good.
- 1:11:50And I think that again also guys like again, breaking through the
- 1:11:543rd wall here. Also why I'm obsessed with this
- 1:11:56content because even me, I feel like in moments I'm in search of
- 1:12:00that of worthiness in whatever bucket might be.
- 1:12:02Sometimes it's physically feeling like, you know, I'm I'm
- 1:12:05worthy to show up even if I'm not a certain size or look a
- 1:12:08certain way or whatever it might be.
- 1:12:11And I know it comes up differently for everybody in
- 1:12:12different buckets. But I'm curious for you, how did
- 1:12:15you get such a great relate or what is perceived to be, at
- 1:12:19least in my opinion, such a great relationship with being
- 1:12:22worthy without anything? You know what I will tell you, I
- 1:12:28think a huge part of it has actually been removing the goal
- 1:12:31post for what that actually means for me because there is no
- 1:12:36point of completion where you're like, Oh my gosh, I'm worthy of
- 1:12:41everything ever. I think that is a constant,
- 1:12:45lifelong, beautiful, beautiful journey of a recognizing who you
- 1:12:50are. And what I would encourage
- 1:12:52people to do is similar to what we've done in terms of, you
- 1:12:55know, the fear of failure. All this different stuff is to
- 1:12:58look back, look at the different broken versions of you over the
- 1:13:02years and how you've repaired and how you've rebuilt, right?
- 1:13:06When you look at that, you go, Oh my gosh, like I have come so
- 1:13:11far. I have started to do these
- 1:13:13things. Wow, this is the most me I felt
- 1:13:16yet. I can't wait to see how much
- 1:13:18more unfolds. So I don't think there's ever an
- 1:13:21angle. And that's what I've noticed.
- 1:13:22It's a lot of people going because we use our our brain
- 1:13:24that's going. I want it now goes to how do I
- 1:13:26surrender? How do I become worthy, right?
- 1:13:29That is a continuous goal. But one thing I will tell you is
- 1:13:33I always like to think to myself, wow, it's kind of
- 1:13:36remarkable that no matter what I do, no matter what I think, the
- 1:13:40sun still shines the next day, the birds still chirp, the tide
- 1:13:44always returns, and life keeps going.
- 1:13:47Summer still shows up, fall still shows.
- 1:13:49And there's a lesson there. There's a lesson when you look
- 1:13:53around and you look at nature and it's somehow provided for
- 1:13:56until we interfere with it. But it's somehow provided for,
- 1:13:59right? It's not looking for where then
- 1:14:01it just is. So sometimes when you are able
- 1:14:07to get back to those places of alignment, right, Abrahamics
- 1:14:12calls it the vortex. When you're feeling good and
- 1:14:14you're aligned, you're like, I've got it.
- 1:14:15I'm I'm vibing. Oh, I got the ideas.
- 1:14:18You're not really thinking about your worth as much.
- 1:14:20You're just in the flow. When you're in the flow, you are
- 1:14:24in this beautiful creation. You are doing what you're
- 1:14:26designed to do. So part of the journey, I think
- 1:14:30is recognizing that you get to drop your shoulders.
- 1:14:35You get to take a deep breath, you get to relax and release
- 1:14:39your forehead and release your jaw like you get to breathe and
- 1:14:43nothing will crumble around you. You will be OK and not in
- 1:14:47itself. It is safe to feel that.
- 1:14:49And so some of it comes down to safety, right?
- 1:14:53Sometimes worthiness isn't even something we have to build up
- 1:14:56to, right? Often times when we do things,
- 1:14:58we start with a posture that's kind of high, you know what I
- 1:15:00mean? And eventually we rise up to it
- 1:15:01because that's great to do. You know, it's just like lifting
- 1:15:04weights. I mean, you got to, you got to
- 1:15:05kind of practice it, but it's the permission.
- 1:15:09And you said it before too, and I love this statement, the
- 1:15:10permission slip to say, you know what, I'm going to challenge
- 1:15:13myself to an afternoon and normally I'd be hustling like
- 1:15:17crazy. You know what?
- 1:15:17Today I'm just going to, I want to prioritize some joy and
- 1:15:21you're going to look at how beautiful everything is around
- 1:15:24you. So the more that you get to just
- 1:15:26release into that, the better it feels.
- 1:15:28But my answer to that would be it's a journey.
- 1:15:32It never ends. It is a constant, beautiful
- 1:15:35journey and I think what we're getting at today is learning to
- 1:15:39enjoy and accept the fact that we're all on a journey and it
- 1:15:43never ends. It just keeps flowing.
- 1:15:45So worthiness is and and by the way, you will be presented with
- 1:15:49great opportunities that show you that you were worthy and
- 1:15:53opportunities and challenges that come to you to stretch that
- 1:15:58ability to go, oh, I'm worthy of this too.
- 1:16:00That will always happen. That never stops.
- 1:16:03There's 2. Pieces there.
- 1:16:04It's like it's this aspect of worthiness in no evidence, but
- 1:16:10using moments that show your worthiness to give you more
- 1:16:13proof in those moments that you need it.
- 1:16:16And I think you know that aspect, as you said, of like,
- 1:16:18you know, the trees don't look for acknowledgement.
- 1:16:20They just are. The sun doesn't look for
- 1:16:22validation. It just is it.
- 1:16:23Just is. And you know, one of the quotes
- 1:16:25that was passed on to me from a peer was what would you do if
- 1:16:28you loved yourself? And it was such a simple thing.
- 1:16:32But to your point of like, you're hustling and you're going
- 1:16:34and you're going and you're like, I have to do this because
- 1:16:36it's like, this is what's going to make me successful.
- 1:16:37And this is what makes me enough to be around these people to
- 1:16:40make this much money, to have this business.
- 1:16:42But if you already just loved yourself right now, would that
- 1:16:46matter? And at the end of the day, like
- 1:16:49exactly as you noted, it's this relationship with self and I at
- 1:16:53times, even in my business career, many times didn't feel
- 1:16:57worthy. I would have someone who wanted
- 1:16:58to work with me. And I'm like, this person has
- 1:17:00way more credentials than I have or someone has a way bigger
- 1:17:03following than me or had been in business longer than me, had
- 1:17:06more celebrity than me, whatever it might have been.
- 1:17:08And there was so much of that lack of worthiness.
- 1:17:10I remember saying that to our team and I was like, I do not
- 1:17:13feel comfortable with this. This actually came up this
- 1:17:15morning because I had another big, big name that kind of came
- 1:17:17into my world and I thought, OK, I need that breath.
- 1:17:20I need that D, clench the jaw. I'm having a moment.
- 1:17:24And it was interesting because even as these moments come up,
- 1:17:28they did exactly what you just said, which they said.
- 1:17:30But remember last time when you said so and so wasn't worthy,
- 1:17:33you've worked with 1800 of those clients now.
- 1:17:36Remember when XYZ was like too big to go on their show?
- 1:17:40And now you've been on, you know, eight of those shows now.
- 1:17:42So I think the two pieces I want to highlight for everybody that
- 1:17:45I absolutely love. That, Taylor noted, is this
- 1:17:47internal worthiness of knowing that you can love yourself
- 1:17:50without all of the evidence and that even in that, it's enough.
- 1:17:54But also in those moments where you're having those doubts, just
- 1:17:56as I do often, and you have those, am I OK?
- 1:18:00Am I enough? Is this like a good enough me
- 1:18:03for today to also tune into those moments, as Taylor said,
- 1:18:08to be proud of yourself, of all the past versions of you who in
- 1:18:12those moments also didn't feel worthy and yet are where you are
- 1:18:15today. And I think it's so easy to lose
- 1:18:18sight of that because often, again, the goal post is always
- 1:18:20moving. We're like, yeah, yeah, that was
- 1:18:21before. But now here's where I am
- 1:18:23exactly and when we can tune into those.
- 1:18:26Like, obviously you guys have heard me talk about the fact
- 1:18:28that confidence is a collection of evidence of your competence.
- 1:18:33And I think the same thing is true when it comes to, you know,
- 1:18:37having that understanding of yourself and your worthiness.
- 1:18:40It's looking at the past times where you didn't feel worthy and
- 1:18:44looking at all you still were able to persevere through.
- 1:18:46And frankly, if you're an entrepreneur in any capacity,
- 1:18:49whether it's been for a week or 10 years, it doesn't matter.
- 1:18:52There's been moments where you've not wanted to do this or
- 1:18:55you didn't think you were worthy to have a business or worthy to
- 1:18:57show up online or worthy to sell that package, and yet you did.
- 1:19:01And so I think it's finding those and tuning into those
- 1:19:04because when we have those moments where we're super
- 1:19:07emotionally charged and we're like, I don't feel like I'm
- 1:19:09worthy of blank, our brain is going to find any evidence to
- 1:19:13prove us to be right. And so it's only when you feed
- 1:19:16it with, as you noted, those past versions of you that you
- 1:19:19go, wait a second. OK, you're kind of right.
- 1:19:21I did do ABCDE and I am where I am today.
- 1:19:25And it kind of gives you yourself as the inspiration
- 1:19:28instead of putting someone else again, that destination, that
- 1:19:31thing outside of you as the reason that you continue to
- 1:19:35move. So I love that of like a finding
- 1:19:38the internal worthiness without any other evidence, but also
- 1:19:41using past evidence in those moments to help give you even
- 1:19:45more of what you might need to feel that and embody it like the
- 1:19:49deepest level. Absolutely, and it's so much of
- 1:19:52it is allowing like allowing yourself to be held, you know,
- 1:19:55allow, you know, for anyone who has, you know, spiritual has a
- 1:19:58faith, like allowing yourself to be loved, allowing yourself to
- 1:20:01be held by just being here. You know, and that there's
- 1:20:04really no metric of success for you to be worthy, which is
- 1:20:07great, and that takes time to acclimate to.
- 1:20:08But when you look for it, you'll find it.
- 1:20:10You'll start to see it with the opportunities.
- 1:20:13I literally can't say anything other than yes to everything
- 1:20:15that you say. I'm just like, yes, yes.
- 1:20:17If I could just applause over here, I would.
- 1:20:19The entire time. This was so good.
- 1:20:21And I obviously we covered a lot today.
- 1:20:23And obviously for you listening, we've gone over, you know, the
- 1:20:26relationship to failure and the fear of success and the fear of
- 1:20:30being seen, the fear of feeling the need to be perfect, perfect.
- 1:20:33How to really understand and overcome this idea of am I
- 1:20:37worthy? So like, I want to encourage
- 1:20:40everybody to go back through today's episode and and use this
- 1:20:43as a master class and finding yourself is really how I see it.
- 1:20:46Because I think, you know, as I said today, I am absolutely
- 1:20:51obsessed with Taylor's content. And the reason that I just
- 1:20:54absolutely fell in love with it was because when he shared what
- 1:20:57he shared today in little snippets of 30 and 60 seconds, I
- 1:21:01was hooked. Because what it did for me is it
- 1:21:03made me feel seen. It made me with the things that
- 1:21:06he shared feel like, OK, wow, I'm not alone in this.
- 1:21:10I'm not alone in feeling the fear of failure.
- 1:21:13I'm not alone in fearing success.
- 1:21:14I'm not alone in this feeling of kind of needing to be perfect.
- 1:21:17And I think it's when we can share and discuss and kind of
- 1:21:21have this witnessed by other people and bring people together
- 1:21:24around it that it kind of starts to make it dissipate and it
- 1:21:27starts to disappear. It starts to be something that
- 1:21:30doesn't have as much power to Taylor's point.
- 1:21:32So Taylor, we have a kind of like a ritual on every single
- 1:21:35show. I'll give you a minute or two to
- 1:21:37kind of think about what lands for you.
- 1:21:39And some people just channel and whatever comes through that the
- 1:21:42intuition hits and that's it. But we have, as I said earlier,
- 1:21:46so many amazing, high achieving, driven women who listen to this.
- 1:21:51And, you know, I'm curious if you have a nugget of, of wisdom
- 1:21:55or insight and it can be around the topic that we talked about
- 1:21:58today. And it also could be something
- 1:22:00totally unrelated that just kind of comes to your mind.
- 1:22:03But for the person who's listening to this, who feels
- 1:22:05like, OK, like this was so helpful for me.
- 1:22:07And she's going through a lot of things she's trying to navigate
- 1:22:10right now and big, big goals. A piece of advice you might have
- 1:22:14for her, It could be a quote that was shared with you.
- 1:22:16It could be a lesson you learned from a mentor.
- 1:22:19It could be a an aha moment that you had from a trying situation.
- 1:22:24And you're like, well, this shaped who I am.
- 1:22:27Is there something that you would want to pass along to her,
- 1:22:29whether it is as a person or professionally either or just
- 1:22:33something that if you could sit with her at a coffee shop that
- 1:22:36you would want her to know? Well, I would want to talk with
- 1:22:40her for hours. I would, I would want to chill
- 1:22:42with her. But what I will tell you is, and
- 1:22:45I'm going to keep it, I'm going to keep it simple for this one
- 1:22:47because I think this really, this really hits it.
- 1:22:50You just make the next right decision and you always arrive.
- 1:22:55So when you're feeling fear, when you're parallel, Oh my God,
- 1:22:57there's so many different take the next best right step, trust
- 1:23:02it and you will always arrive. So that's what I would say.
- 1:23:05And I buy her a coffee. And a cappuccino.
- 1:23:09Yes, exactly. I love it.
- 1:23:11I love it. OK, so Taylor, obviously you
- 1:23:13guys have heard me say I'm obsessed with this stuff.
- 1:23:15I highly recommend go binge. That will probably just be the
- 1:23:18dopamine hit that you needed today.
- 1:23:20But Taylor, if someone wants to get deeper connected with your
- 1:23:23content and basically this on steroids, if someone wants to
- 1:23:27kind of just get more exposure to all of this in your world,
- 1:23:29what's the best place for them to go and to dive into your
- 1:23:32stuff? So I would say the best place
- 1:23:35would be I'm on Tiktok and Instagram.
- 1:23:36That's where I post primarily. So my handle is Taylor Ryan
- 1:23:39Nardoni and check out my website as well, which is Taylor
- 1:23:42ryannardoni.com. It looks funky when you type it
- 1:23:44out because there's 2RS2NS in there with Taylor Ryan to Ryan
- 1:23:47Nardoni. But those three places, So
- 1:23:48website and then Instagram and Tiktok and yeah, feel free to
- 1:23:51shoot me a message. Let me know what you guys
- 1:23:52thought of the episode. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:23:55I, as I always say, you guys like having a transformation is
- 1:23:58to be witnessed in it. And there's a difference between
- 1:24:00you can have these aha moments with you and your journal, which
- 1:24:02we spoke about you can have, but there's just something different
- 1:24:06when someone sees you in it, which is why community is huge,
- 1:24:09whether it's a membership community like Taylor, you have
- 1:24:11a membership as well. I do, yes.
- 1:24:14So I call it come as you are. So basically, regardless of
- 1:24:17where you are spiritually or faith, anything come as you are
- 1:24:20and kind of goes with one of my favorite quotes that I mentioned
- 1:24:22before. When you change the way you look
- 1:24:23at things, the things you look at change.
- 1:24:24And that's my goal in there. So we meet once a month.
- 1:24:27It's a beautiful time. Yeah.
- 1:24:28So like I, I really want to encourage you guys to like at a
- 1:24:31minimum, if you want to obviously get into a community
- 1:24:33of similar conversations to this or also just literally reaching
- 1:24:37out to Taylor. I hope that's OK that I.
- 1:24:38Absolutely. Do for myself like if there's
- 1:24:41something that lands here for you today, I always say like our
- 1:24:45guests are so excited to hear from you.
- 1:24:47Like our last guest that we had on was like, Kate, I'm so
- 1:24:50excited that your people reached out because it just when we go
- 1:24:53on podcast, I know Taylor can attest this because he has a
- 1:24:55podcast as well, which by the way, you can go dive into.
- 1:24:57I've listened to it. It's amazing with his podcast,
- 1:25:00same thing. You speak into this ether and
