- 0:54Great. The first story that I have for
- 0:55you guys. This is a kind of, well, it is
- 0:57definitely a random one. Harry Jowsey and Tricia Paytas
- 1:01are kind of feuding online. So Harry Jowsey started a little
- 1:06bit of beef with Tricia Paytas on a recent episode of his
- 1:08podcast and now Tricia has responded.
- 1:12So Harry had Tana Mojo on his podcast boyfriend material and
- 1:16Tana brought up Tricia in their exchange who obviously like Tana
- 1:21is super close with her and Tricia have a podcast together
- 1:24so she brought her up in a really positive light and then
- 1:27Harry cut Tana off to complain about how Trisha Paytas hates
- 1:31him. Really laugh at our clout
- 1:33farming era like you and I. I was talking about this
- 1:35yesterday actually with Trisha. But just like what?
- 1:38She hates me. No, I just told them I was like,
- 1:43I saw her name on the unwell thing and I was like, oh, this
- 1:45is going to be weird because anytime I'm brought up on a
- 1:47podcast. She's so sweet, like in person,
- 1:50like she's not, she doesn't like hold any hate in her heart, but
- 1:53I feel like what? Did she say?
- 1:54Yesterday. She didn't say anything like
- 1:57because she knows that we're friends.
- 1:58So I don't think that she was trying to like, you know what I
- 2:00mean? I always say about you that I
- 2:03have a special bond with you specifically because we have had
- 2:06the luxury of always being friends and like just.
- 2:10Friends. OK, so so even though Trisha and
- 2:12Harry don't know each other, he's actually not totally wrong.
- 2:15Trisha has spoken poorly of him publicly.
- 2:18Back in February, Harry and Lucy Hale apparently were dating or
- 2:22became romantically linked at one point.
- 2:25I didn't even know about this and then it came up on the Just
- 2:28Trish podcast and Trisha had some choice words about Harry.
- 2:32Now he's dating Lucy Hale from Pretty Little Liars.
- 2:35And I love Pretty Little Liars. So now I'm like, damn it, we're
- 2:38on the losing team. I think I might have to switch
- 2:40up and like be pro Harry Drowsy at this point.
- 2:42I don't know. I still have to talk to Riley
- 2:43Arnold first, actually. Before I can, I think on your
- 2:48stream would be a great place for him to be.
- 2:50I'm not trying to come up with very drowsy.
- 2:52For the rest, you really did. You're like, we should be
- 2:53friends with him. I'm like, maybe on the Oscar
- 2:55Gracie vlog channel. I'm sorry.
- 2:57This one I have to disavow. I have to disavow as far as way
- 3:00as possible. There's nothing good about him.
- 3:02There's nothing you put out into the world.
- 3:03He's misogynistic. He has not apologized for being
- 3:05misogynistic. Like I just everything about him
- 3:07is awful. Look, is that a controversial
- 3:11take? No, everything that I know about
- 3:13Harry Jowsey, that tracks. OK.
- 3:17But anyways, now Trisha has responded to Harry's complaint
- 3:20in a new TikTok comment writing. I'm all for growth and change.
- 3:25Shrug. As in saying, if you have
- 3:29changed, if you have grown, I'm all for it and I don't hate you
- 3:32anymore. I assume that's what I'm going
- 3:34to assume. All right, the next three that I
- 3:35have for you guys. I wanted to cover how Sabrina
- 3:38Carpenter stood for Trans rights last night at the VMA's.
- 3:42During her performance, Sabrina performed tears for the first
- 3:45time at the VMA's and the performance was a very different
- 3:49vibe from the short and sweet era.
- 3:51It felt very like 90s, even the 80s, as opposed to kind of like
- 3:56old Hollywood 1950, like Betty Boop.
- 3:59It was giving like Christina Aguilera, dirty Britney Spears,
- 4:03I'm a slave for you, that kind of vibe.
- 4:05So Sabrina was joined by some of the world's most famous drag
- 4:08Queens for the performance, most of whom have competed on various
- 4:11seasons of Ru Paul's Drag Race. Through the performance, the
- 4:14Queens were holding signs expressing support for the
- 4:17LGBTQIA plus community and trans rights.
- 4:21Some of the signs read Dolls Dolls.
- 4:22Dolls protects trans rights. And if you hate you'll never get
- 4:26laid, which is a reference to one of her new songs, Never
- 4:30Getting Laid off Man's best friend, obviously.
- 4:32Also, I need to say OK, like I said last time when we talked
- 4:36about man's best friend, like Sabrina's music needs to
- 4:38marinate for me for a minute. I am loving man's best friend.
- 4:41Here are my favorite songs. Tears.
- 4:43When did you get hot? Is that what it's called?
- 4:46The song about getting hot House tour, Oh my God.
- 4:49House tour. It's so Barbie movie house tour
- 4:52is literally the best. Wait, I need to look.
- 4:54What else do I love? My man on Willpower, Never
- 4:56Getting Laid and Go Go Juice are like Tier 2 songs for me.
- 4:59The other ones like I just mentioned are Tier 1.
- 5:02I think Manchild might be Tier 2 for me as well.
- 5:04I love a fun, happy song. I don't really like a slow song
- 5:09usually. So yeah, I'm actually obsessed.
- 5:11I think I like Man's best friend better than short and sweet.
- 5:14Like for me the highs are higher and I do think unfortunately
- 5:18though the lows are lower for man's best friend.
- 5:20But I am loving like those 3 to 4 songs I am like on repeat.
- 5:24So yes, her performance was obviously a form of advocacy for
- 5:29trans rights, which was just amazing to see.
- 5:32And you know, a lot of us, including myself, had some
- 5:35criticism about the album cover. And a huge part of that
- 5:38criticism was people saying like she hasn't aligned herself with
- 5:41any type of advocacy super publicly at least that has made
- 5:46this feel like justified for an album cover like that.
- 5:50And I mean, I guess you don't, I understand you don't necessarily
- 5:53need to always justify like art and stuff.
- 5:55But regardless, that was part of the criticism.
- 5:57Where is Olivia Rodrigo not to put them against each other?
- 5:59This is just the first thing that came to in mind is that we
- 6:02know that Olivia Rodrigo is very vocal about abortion rights and
- 6:06that is something she aligns herself with and has for a very
- 6:09long time in her career. And so I think even though
- 6:13Sabrina did have a lot of activism around her short and
- 6:16sweet tour, she has not seemingly aligned herself as a
- 6:20public figure and her personal brand, if that makes sense.
- 6:23I think this is a message to us. Like this is where I stand.
- 6:26That album cover is not me. Like going down some like alt
- 6:29right trad wife, conservative vibe.
- 6:31I don't know. That's how I interpreted it.
- 6:33But yeah, there was a lot of criticism that Sabrina
- 6:35Carpenter, she's not political enough, I guess to pull off such
- 6:40an edgy album cover. So I do feel like this is a
- 6:43little bit of like a fuck you to show us where she stands.
- 6:45OK, the next story that I have for you guys, I mean, to be
- 6:48fair, it's not really a story. I don't really have much to say
- 6:51about this, but Annabelle was like, you need to talk about
- 6:54this on Mini. And I was like, OK, I will
- 6:57because it has become such a crazy meme.
- 7:01But essentially, travel influencer Brittany de Zola is
- 7:04claiming that she was supposed to be travelling to Nice, France
- 7:10and instead ended up booking and boarding a flight to Tunis,
- 7:15Africa to Nice, Tunis. I don't know, I have no idea how
- 7:21this happens. I mean, people are going insane
- 7:24about this on TikTok. Like I said, they're meaning it
- 7:27everywhere. It's really funny.
- 7:29But there's also people who are like, this is honestly insane.
- 7:32Like you boarded a flight that literally said Tunis Air.
- 7:35There's also so many instances where your destination is
- 7:39announced, like before you board, on your boarding pass,
- 7:43when you get on the plane, all of that.
- 7:46So this is from the TAB quote. Over the course of a whopping 25
- 7:50tick tocks, the influencer really let her American show as
- 7:53she stumbled her way through conversations with local airport
- 7:56employees. Staff in the Tunis airport were
- 7:58having none of it. After all, they still got on the
- 8:01plane regardless of whether the original attendant had misheard
- 8:04their intended destination. After what seemed like days in
- 8:07the airport, she added in an update quote.
- 8:09They're making us pay for a new flight saying we can't get on
- 8:12the next one tonight. Everyone is rude.
- 8:14Two men who are supervisors yelled in my face in tears.
- 8:17So as a last resort I had to bring up my bestie chat and
- 8:20found out about EU regulations and now they are taking us a bit
- 8:23more seriously so we can get to Nice ASAP.
- 8:27So yeah, the general consensus is people being like girl, just
- 8:30because the attendant who was helping you book your flight
- 8:33misunderstood when you said two niece.
- 8:35Like there are still so many steps after that that should
- 8:39have alerted you to the fact that you were going to a
- 8:42completely different destination.
- 8:44OK, the last story that I have for you guys is that Ashton
- 8:46Earl's influencer post rate has allegedly been exposed on Reddit
- 8:51and it is causing some interesting discussion.
- 8:54So a Reddit post on NYC influencer snark has sparked a
- 8:57lot of discussion as Ashton Earl's alleged rape.
- 9:00Her post has been revealed. According to the post, the Earl
- 9:04sisters have both raised their influencer rates recently, with
- 9:07Ashton commanding $250,000 per single post.
- 9:12Now, obviously a Reddit post is not necessarily a valid source,
- 9:16so, you know, take this with a grain of salt.
- 9:18But regardless, it is open to discussion about transparency
- 9:22around influencer marketing because there is still this like
- 9:25huge percentage of people, especially in the start
- 9:29communities, who question how these creators fund their lavish
- 9:32lifestyles. And they're so often accusations
- 9:36of their parents paying their rent or credit card debt.
- 9:39There's like tons of accusations that everybody's just living in
- 9:41like credit card debt, but we actually really have like no
- 9:44idea how much these influencers are being paid.
- 9:47The industry is still very much like the Wild West and rates are
- 9:50dependent on so many things, not just followers.
- 9:54Like Ashton herself only has 1.2 million followers on TikTok.
- 9:58There are so many influencers on TikTok that have over 1.2
- 10:02million followers as well who are most likely not making
- 10:06$250,000 per post. But she can command that for
- 10:10various reasons, like her conversion rate might be really
- 10:13high. I she's very in demand because
- 10:15she's like a buzzy influencer right now.
- 10:17The fact that she is the sister of arguably Tik Tok's like
- 10:21biggest it girl at the moment. So her last name and her family
- 10:24itself, they currently are very relevant and high profile in the
- 10:28space. There are so many other reasons
- 10:30why she might be able to command that, that obviously I'm not
- 10:33saying that's necessarily right, You know, like should she or any
- 10:37influencer be paid that amount of money for a sponsored post?
- 10:41I mean, I think from an ethical perspective, when you think
- 10:44about the fact that there are people who literally can't feed
- 10:46their kids, no, of course not. But the reality is that they get
- 10:50paid that because the value that they bring to brands is in
- 10:53theory worth that. And I think as well, from
- 10:56somebody who works on, you know, the media side of this industry,
- 11:01these rates are not new. Like it's new that they're going
- 11:04to a sole individual. But before influencer marketing
- 11:08and paid social a $250,000 media brief, going to a publisher was
- 11:13very average or even low for some brands.
- 11:17I actually remember I had a mentorship meeting like years
- 11:19ago with a founder who had built one of the most successful media
- 11:25brands in all of Australia. He had left the industry, but he
- 11:28had built it maybe like 15 years before Centennial launched.
- 11:31So they were just before us. Like it was not, you know, this
- 11:34wasn't like 50 years ago. This was like between 10 and 15
- 11:37years before us. And he said to me like, stop
- 11:39going after local Australian brands for advertising budgets.
- 11:44Like you just need to get some multinational clients who will
- 11:46give you like A300K brief, you know, every couple months.
- 11:50And literally I laughed in his face and I was like, do you
- 11:54think that's what the industry is still like?
- 11:56Like that is absolutely absurd. The industry and how the money
- 12:00is distributed now in advertising is just so
- 12:03different. I mean, it's a little bit
- 12:04different for us because we're like a podcast network.
- 12:06We're more of like, we actually kind of often fall and influence
- 12:09our budgets for brands. It's like in a way that they can
- 12:11like work with us even if they don't have a media budget for a
- 12:14specific campaign because they like want to work with us.
- 12:16So we can kind of fall under both, which has been really
- 12:19advantageous for us. But in general, like that is
- 12:23honestly the reality of what this industry used to look like.
- 12:26And other types of advertising like commercials, billboards,
- 12:29product placements, like often cost way more than $250,000 per
- 12:33deal. And you know, you can't track
- 12:35conversions in the same way that you can with influencers.
- 12:38So it is all relative. But I also understand that at
- 12:42the end of the day, seeing that kind of money going to an
- 12:45individual is jarring. And the fact that their audience
- 12:49then gets to or has to, I guess, see that wealth kind of thrown
- 12:53back in our faces. Sometimes that does feel a
- 12:57little bit out of touch. And it can be hard to swallow
- 12:59given, I mean, like everything going on in the world right now.
- 13:03But yes, like influencers can make so much money, but it is
- 13:08such a varied industry. All right, guys, that's it for
- 13:11Mini Scroll today. Thank you so much for listening.
- 13:13I love you guys. Please remember to rate, review
- 13:16and subscribe. Please Spotify star rate US, buy
- 13:18us a coffee, leave us a review on Apple.
- 13:21Annabelle will talk to you tomorrow and then I will talk to
- 13:24you on Thursday. Bye.
