Glovisor welcomes Lily McNamara. Lily McNamara: Hi, thank you for having me. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Hi, welcome. I'm very excited to have this conversation. Let's see how actionable and direct you're gonna be during our conversation today. Lily McNamara: to be blunt, hurt some people's feelings with the honesty that's about to happen, you have been warned. ⁓ JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Excellent. right, so let's start with you say you help people become ⁓ hero of their own story. What does that actually mean in real life? Lily McNamara: So the easiest way to say it is that I help people trust themselves so that they can follow their own intuition. But what does that actually mean? Cause that sounds so ⁓ we ⁓ so influencers on social media. We trust society, we trust culture and it just slowly erodes at... learning who we are, we're always like, ⁓ the next teacher is going to save me. This next big break is going to be the thing that changes everything. Instead of looking inward and going, no, I'm the awesomeness. I'm the hero of my story. They focus on everything outside of themselves and give power to everything outside of themselves, which just distracts them from their own path because everyone's path is different. ⁓ It's really just allowing people to embrace the fact that they can do it and they don't need to be saved. We're not damsels in distresses in business. Like we are awesome warriors in business and embracing that helps us to move forward. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Sure, everything's within. Lily McNamara: Mm-hmm. Yes. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Most people businesses, ⁓ success, it's about strategy, right? But you believe it starts somewhere else. Where does this start? Lily McNamara: It starts like you said, it starts from within. cause here's the thing, get me wrong, strategy, frameworks, structure. Yes, yum, yum, yum. That is how you scale a business. That is how you grow all of those very tactical, tangible things are real, but that's not where it starts. How do you know what strategy works for you? How do you know what framework is going to resonate with your ideal client? You look and you follow and you trust yourself. You trust yourself to know what you want and you need, what your business needs. And so that's more of where it starts. It's not that the other things aren't important. They're just the second step. And so many people start on that second step that they're like, I don't know why this framework doesn't work. It was advertised to work for everybody. You aren't everybody. You ain't a cookie cutter. You are no basic B. You are you. So no, random generic isn't gonna work for you and nor should it. And you should celebrate that. ⁓ JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Very true. What's something that most entrepreneurs are doing that's actually holding them back? Lily McNamara: I see this all the time. It is so sad. One more course, one more class, one more mentor, one more. It's this like, Honey, the last one didn't work. What makes you think this one's got magic? Like, ⁓ it's like, I will launch my course after I watch one more tutorial. ⁓ It's one more. Like, you're just, ⁓ like, aggressively pushing back. your potential, your success, your wealth for one more what? One more delay, one more procrastination. That's all you're saying. You're not saying one more course. You're saying, ⁓ I'll stall myself one more time. no, sorry. I get uppity about that one. Yeah, one more. One more is the problem. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: because once they move forward, this is it. This is the real Lily McNamara: yeah, the quickest way to understand trusting yourself and intuition is action. Cause everyone thinks, so when you say intuition, everyone's like, my God, mmm, like you're, you're, you're woo. And you're light and fluffy. And it can be that, but really intuition and action and what it is you're, taking steps, you're making decisions, you're moving forward. That's what intuition is meant to help with. And so when you don't do one more and you're just like, I'm going to do this. And if it works for you, it's like, that's what that felt like. Okay, that's what intuition feels like. Awesome. And if it didn't work, you can go, good to know that that's, I now know that that feeling is peer pressure or that feeling doesn't align with what I need. The quickest way to do things is just to do action and not do one more course. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Totally agree. Now, Lily, how did you get into this work? Lily McNamara: ⁓ actually started I was very young. I realized this is what I wanted to do with my life. And please do not misunderstand. It was not a straight line. There was lots of curves going on in there. ⁓ And, but I was born ⁓ like using my and seeing energy and, and of the woo things were just natural for me. And then by the age of was like, I want to do this. I want to help people. want to make this a huge part of my life. And I found a mentor and I started training. I trained for five years before I took my first client at 15 years old. And I did it and kept training and kept doing different modalities and everything. But I think the biggest turning point for me was when I decided to be an adult. ⁓ I was 30 and I was like, I need to take this seriously. I need to take myself seriously. And so I started an LLC. I was no longer like, ⁓ I'm going to do this. I was like, I'm going to do this. And I put intuition into action. And that was the biggest turning point. People started taking me seriously. People started booking me to speaking classes and it just grew and grew and grew until I was on a TV show for an entrepreneur docu-series. And was a competition that I actually won. And I realized, I'm like, ⁓ I can grow and do this using my intuition and being taken seriously. It's like, it was a huge turning point for me to acknowledge my full potential. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Now, tell us a little bit more about that show. What made you sign up to be part of that show? Lily McNamara: I was scrolling like an upturned turtle on social media, like we all do now, ⁓ wasting minutes, wasted my life. And it was an ad and I honestly thought it was a scam. I was like, ⁓ this can't be real. And then I looked up like the judges and the people involved and they were all real and they were all successful. And I was like, Ooh, I want a slice of that. Can I, can I have some of that? And I thought, ⁓ there's no way that I'm going to get in. But, but I did it I was like, yeah. And each time I like. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Ha ha ha ha. Lily McNamara: made it to the next level of like auditions and interviews. I was like, okay, okay. And then I got accepted to be on season five. And I did season five. And what I did was I thought that using my intuition would be unethical because it would give me an edge over everybody else. So I went in just doing business and not following my intuition at all. And I made it to 12th place, which was great. Cause afterwards, one of the staff said, ⁓ yeah, the reason why we had you on the season. was for color you are so animated and so entertaining. We didn't think you would be good at this. And then you turned out to be really good at it. And I was like, thank you. Also, what did I say to not make you not take me seriously? Cause I would like to like remove that from my vocabulary. And then they asked me back for season nine. And I realized, and this is something I think that everyone needs to accept in themselves. Everyone is different. Everyone does business differently and we all have different strengths. And so for season nine, realized I'm like, intuition is literally what my business is about. Why shouldn't I bring it to show? Why shouldn't I use it? I'm like, people are super articulate. Some people are great at problem solving. Some people, and they brought all their skills ⁓ and strengths I should bring mine, even though they look very different than other people's. And so I did that. I won season nine using my intuition and being very aligned and trusting myself that I know myself better than anybody else. And therefore I know my business better than anybody else and I can win this. And I won and I was very proud and happy and it very much proved that your intuition can take you from 12th place to first place. And that's literally the only thing I changed between the seasons was trusting myself and using my intuition. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: So that's great. I mean, you were able to test out exactly what you're sharing with others. Lily McNamara: Yeah, and it was measurable, which I was like 12th to first place is a big jump. I'm happy. I'm happy with those results. I can confidently say those results to people and be like, you want to know what it'll change? 12 spots. That's what it'll change. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Who we are. Now you started the spiritual training at a young age. What were the biggest challenges ⁓ of turning something that so personal into something professional? Lily McNamara: There were two things that were huge just in learning in general, and then like using it to like run a business. One of them is discerning. So like, what's mine, what's not mine? Cause like, is real for everyone. It's actually not a woo woo turn. Everyone wants to make it, but like ⁓ has us empathize with people and it's beautiful and amazing. ⁓ but you can't like overlap your story onto a client's. and be like, ⁓ this is so discerning and keeping things separate was really hard for me because I wanted to always like get down into the muck all the time. so at such a young age, that was difficult. And so discerning what was mine, what wasn't boundaries also happened during that time. That was not a fun lesson. And now it's one of my favorite things to teach is how to create and enforce boundaries with people intuitively to trust yourself. That's one of the favorite things that I teach now. And then the other thing is that a lot of people in my industry, it's like we talked about before, they make themselves the hero of your story. And it's like, I always tell people, let me be clear, I am Yoda. I am not Luke Skywalker. ⁓ will climb up on your back. and whisper in your ear until you are successful. I have no problem with that. You wear me like a backpack, it's fine. cannot fight Darth Vader for you. I fight your battles for you. I can you. I am a tool that you use to build your life in business. I am not hero. And that's something that very, very much believe in and bring every single day that it's like, you are the hero of your story, just like I'm the hero of mine. And in my industry, that's not the norm. The norm is for the professional to be like, oh, I can save you. All of my frameworks and all my cookie cutter, that's everything that you need to be the best version of yourself. And it's like, what? No, no. Like, I don't want you to look at me and think the sun shines out of my tilkas. I want you to look at you and be like, yes, I'm fabulous. And then look at me and go, thank you for holding up a mirror for me. and showing me that I'm fabulous. I'm like, you're welcome. I'll hold the mirror. There's good lighting. You got this. Let's go. want to do that. So those were the two biggest things is discernment and really people to be the hero of their own story instead of them thinking that I'm there to save them. Cause I'm not. I'm busy. I'm busy. I got my own dragons to slay. So ⁓ no, I but I can't do it for you. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Ha ha ha ha ha. you have so many elements to your business. You have the spiritual side, have the coaching how do you explain what you do to someone who's never met you before? Lily McNamara: So one of the biggest compliments I ever got was from a client. I see their whole family and the husband runs a $400 million a year business and I love him. He's fabulous. He's innovative. And the wife is just so kind and compassionate. And we were doing a session and we were talking about her goals and seeing clearly like the outcome that she wanted and what actual actionable steps she can take to get there. Remember intuition in action is how it works. And she looked at me and said, I love that you make everything spiritual and woo practical. That you don't just go, and it should just feel right. All right, okay. If you are stressed, an entrepreneur constipated, or a parent fighting off allergies, there are all these things that will make ⁓ just feels right, not gonna happen. And it has nothing to do with your intuition. It's because life stressful. And so giving people practical steps as they can actually do ⁓ allows to follow their intuition in a non-abstract way. And that's what I love. I love like marrying the two. I talk about neuroscience and mental health, as well as emotional intelligence and the woo woo stuff, like energy and yes, like all holds hands. They're all sisters. They're just holding hands, skipping down the lane of life. that's, like, no, I just want one. It's like, no, use all three. They're fabulous. They get along so well together. It's great. So that's a big part. It's like, it's making things practical. so that you can actually do them. It's giving you digestible, measurable steps that are realistic instead of just giving you a concept. Because if I told you right now, I want you to close your eyes and just trust yourself. Could you do it right now in the middle of this interview? No, you're sitting there going, what's the next question? Is the volume right? You're doing the entrepreneur thing. not gonna stop everything and just like feel warm fuzzies. But if I said, I want you to stop, relax your shoulders, and all I want you to do is take a deep breath. I don't care what you think about. I don't care if you're clenching your legs, but that's all I want you to do. Doesn't that sound so much more practical? To be like, just take a breath. Yep. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Easy steps. Lily McNamara: And then it's like, then we'll go from there. But just telling people to like, ⁓ just feel it. When society teaches us not to trust ourselves, but to trust the influencer on Instagram, I feel like it does a disservice to not lay it out in actionable steps. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Absolutely. I like the way you bring it all together though. I mean all these scattered things so it seems scattered but you basically bring it all together into one. I love that. Who is your ideal client and what are they usually struggling with when they come to see you? Lily McNamara: Mm-hmm. Ooh, because the thing is, is I truly believe that everyone is different and unique and needs different things. And that's why a lot of the things that I do are customizable. Again, there are no cookie cutters. No, no, no. There are no basic bees in my business, it's a lot of entrepreneurs and then their families end up coming too. So it's like a package deal. And they're with ⁓ stress second guessing because I guarantee there is not a single real entrepreneur who hasn't sat with their head in their hands, wondering if they just set their life on fire. There is not a single real entrepreneur that is not laid awake and replayed that meeting that happened today in their head and gone, shouldn't have said that, I shouldn't have said that. Ooh, messed up there. lost that deal. There is not a single one. And so that's what I help with. Cause if you trust yourself, you will stop second guessing and self-doubting and that will actually gain your time back. because you're no longer wasting time doing that. And if we're being honest, time is the most precious commodity for any entrepreneur. The more second guessing you do, the less time you have with your family, the less time you have with your health, the less time you have with anything that is enjoyable and feeds your soul. So you're gaining your time back to be able to feel fulfilled in your life. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: You talk a lot about getting out of your own way. What does that actually look like? Lily McNamara: Mm-hmm. laughing because ⁓ said this and then my social media manager posted it all over social media. And I was like, I don't know, that might be a little too real for people. And she was like, I love it, let's do it. And it's actually like the most well-performed ⁓ that I've had on social media. You to be at peace to be the hero of your own story. You inevitably will be the villain of someone else's. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Yeah. Lily McNamara: everyone who benefited from you not having boundaries, from you distrusting yourself, and that's in personal and professional, because let me tell you what, there are some business meetings where people are like betting on the fact that you will not stand up for yourself, that you will not ask for your value in your proposal and the money and the contract and everything like that. And so to be able to do those things, you have to not be liked by everybody and actually be okay with that. and that can take time. So to get out of your own way, you have to be at peace with making others uncomfortable. always tell people, I hope people choke on my sparkle and I will never dull my sparkle. And people are like, why? I'm like, cause why would you want to dull yourself to fit in to something doesn't work for you? So getting out of your own way is starting to trust yourself. and being at peace with not being liked by everybody, which is hard for entrepreneurs because we really want to be liked. It's a thing. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: That's very true. that's interesting before we move on, ⁓ what you suggest would be the first step if we want to take that next step our, business but I'm going to make someone else upset somewhere, somehow. So what would be the first exercise that I should be infusing into my business ⁓ to make that step happen? Lily McNamara: I love that question. Cause a huge misconception that it has to be big and ⁓ blow people out of the water. And the vast majority of the time, unfortunately, that's not sustainable. you think of it, like if you were to start exercising and to run a marathon, you ain't running 20 miles that first day, you're walking around the block and going, yay, I didn't die. you take really small things that are controllable. And when you're talking about like trusting yourself and getting out of your own way, with something very not make or break. Everyone wants to do, everyone wants the big ⁓ TV show moment where all the dramatic music and cameras come on. No, no, no, no, no. ⁓ want something small. You want something tiny. So look at your personal or professional life, whichever one you're more comfortable with. and think of something super small. Some people it's changing their order at a restaurant or changing their scheduling system to be more conducive to them. It be delegating one task that you never thought you would delegate. It can be something super small. And then you just wait the world didn't end. Fabulous. And then you do it again and do it again. And then you ⁓ raise the stakes as you You don't start with it super high, make or break, because you don't have the skills or self-trust for that yet. So to get out of your own way and actually start in a really practical way, choose something small that you care about, but not much. then once that's validated, you'll trust that and trust yourself and move forward and keep pumping the ante as you go. So that's the best way to do it is you start small. Again, just, ⁓ everyone being like, it's a miracle overnight. ⁓ No, it's not. It is a process and you honor the process. Think of the, okay, we'll go back to the Star Wars example. Think of Luke Skywalker. You think that first day when he ran out into the sand dunes that he should be taken on Darth Vader that day? No, no, that would have been a short movie and the dark side would have won. No, he went through the whole process and then he won. You are Luke Skywalker. Be okay with that. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: it. ⁓ how does internal healing impact the external business success? ⁓ Lily McNamara: Yes! Internal healing allows you to be at peace. It allows you to trust yourself and follow your intuition, like seamlessly, instead of it being a long process and taking where you have to like go. it's like, okay, now I need to go into like a dark room where there's no stimuli. And that's where you start. Like you start with small things and no variables. I teach meditation that way. You do not meditate in the middle of the Mall of America. No, no, no. You meditate in a dark room in comfy clothes. with no sound or distractions with like some nice music. That's where you start. when you do that, then you're able to do it. Like I can go and follow my intuition and trust myself in the middle of a meeting where I am being like belittled or asked really hard questions. And I'll be like, ⁓ I need to do this. But I couldn't have done that if I didn't start in the comfy chair, in the pajamas with the nice music, like. So once you can calm all of this, the chaos of your business and the chaos of meetings and the markets and investments and what trends are happening on social media and all these things that change around us as entrepreneurs those won't affect you. And then you can look at them and really objectively make the best decision for you and your business. So being having inner peace first, it's not essential, but let me tell you what, it makes it easier. And we all want it to be easier. There's not one entrepreneur out there who sits there and goes, you know what? Today, I want it to be the struggle bus. None of us intentionally get on the rough road and we're like, this is the best. We're all sitting there going, is there a shortcut? Is there an easy way? Can I take a break? Inner peace is that break? Like take the break, get off the struggle bus. You don't need to be there. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: would you say are the most common mental ⁓ and blocks that entrepreneurs face? ⁓ Lily McNamara: I know what mine is. is a wonderful podcast I am not cussing on this podcast intentionally, but what, this is the biggest swear word in ⁓ my life, enough. I view as worst swear word ever. It is horrific for someone in business. Did I do enough? Did I post enough? JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Yeah. Lily McNamara: Was I loud enough? Was I feminine enough for women in business? Was I skinny enough? Did I wear enough makeup? it enough? Did I do enough? Did I comment enough? Did I ask enough intriguing? Like enough ⁓ the worst word ever me as an entrepreneur. And what I've noticed is it's the worst word for most entrepreneurs. They're wondering if they're enough and if they did enough. and it is this huge mental and emotional block. Cause that's the thing, people are like, you think about it, but when you think about being enough, it's an emotional reaction. You make a face. one's sitting there going, I wonder if I am enough. Everyone's like, am I enough? ⁓ then you're like looking around like, can I have like an outside sign that just blinked was like, yay, you did enough, yay. ⁓ but it's not outside, it's inside. The little blinking light is inside you, but then you can't see it and you don't know how to deal with it. So that's a huge one for me and other entrepreneurs. It's like wondering if you're enough. And then you start second guessing and having self doubt because that stupid, in my opinion, a swear word comes up and it is absolutely awful. And so that is, One of the biggest hurdles that people overcome is the word enough. And once you find the understand that you are enough and you did enough because you trusted yourself to follow your intuition, to know what enough was, yes, like you will, your shoulders will drop, you will relax, and your day and your business will be better. ⁓ JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: does a misaligned business look like versus a very aligned business from your perspective? Lily McNamara: I a mastermind recently where took a of like and that talked about your core values, who you are at your core. ⁓ And your core is not, ⁓ I hope I'm this way. It's like, this what I am 24 seven 365 and I could not handle being around people who aren't this way. And mine are being open-minded, being authentic and having integrity. And so when a business is aligned, it's like, you'll see that in every aspect of my business. Every person I hire, every class I teach, everything I do. I don't know if you noticed, but like this level is all the time. This is not my first time talking to this fabulous man. No, no, no, we've talked before and it's always this. Like it's not damped down. It's always authentic. And that's what everyone, every one of my clients is that way. Every one of my staff is that way. And so it's very transparent when something's aligned because you'll look at it and go, I know exactly what they stand for. I know exactly what their purpose is and their message. Even though I do, like you said, a bunch of different things that seem to be disjointed and have nothing to do with each other. You can always tell that it fits in me and my business very seamlessly. So that's an aligned business. And an unaligned business is a lot of confusion. It's a lot of stalled energy. And it's honestly, this is gonna hurt some feelings. I'm so sorry. Victim mentality. This happened to me. I have no control. I, You are the hero of your own story. You do have control. You can control how often you post, who you hire, what values you embrace and bring to your business. Focus on what you can control and that will align your business because it's important to you. So ⁓ the people who have misaligned businesses, it honestly, like you'll notice now that you're aware of it, you'll go to business and be like, This just doesn't feel right. I couldn't tell what your values are. So as a fun little thing, we've never talked about this before. can tell you what I think, what I observe some of your values are. I don't know if they're your core values, like who you are at your core, but you are one ⁓ So you will focus on one thing and give it all of your attention and respect. And you also have a work ethic. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: That's right. Lily McNamara: We've never talked about values before, but I know talking to you, that's what I feel. And I love talking to you because I know that that's what you stand for. And I can get behind that. I can get behind talking to someone who wants to give me all of their attention for this. I can get behind someone who respects other people's time just as much as they respect their own. I love that. So like just talking to you, I know that your business is aligned because it feels good. And I can tell what you stand for right off the jump. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: I guess you just read me right from the beginning. But you know, it's interesting because you were just bringing that up. You combine tarot cards, energy work, coaching, how does that actually all work together? I mean, I know you do it well and you bring it all together, but how does that work from your perspective? Lily McNamara: Mm-hmm. The cheater answer is I follow my intuition and everything works out perfectly But the more complicated answer is You need to understand that everyone is different every single person watching this is different and I know in business We're like what are people's pain points? What is their purpose? What's the result that everyone wants and we're supposed to make it super simple and Yes, there are general themes that work for all of us like JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Yeah. Lily McNamara: All entrepreneurs need time. All of us time is our biggest commodity. Absolutely. But what we do with that time is different for everybody. How we find that time is different for everybody. How we trust ourself is different for everybody. And so the biggest thing that I do is I make everything that is themed very general. And it's like, this can help everyone no matter what. This can help every entrepreneur and their family no matter what. And then as they get more in depth and learn to trust themselves more, it's like, okay, what's your problem? What's your block? What's your shortcoming? All right, now let's work on you personally. Let's customize it to you. My VIP clients all have customized packages that look wildly different. of them look the same and all of them love it. None of them would want any of the other ways that it's done because all of them are entrepreneurs, but they all have different values, different schedules that need to be honored. So. That's how I manage it. It's like, you keep the general general and you keep the specific specific and people in my industry don't do that. They're like, everything is general says everything should be for everybody. It's like, no, believe it or not, the bestselling author does not want what the Olympian wants. I have two of those clients, their packages look so different. it would look like I was running two businesses if you saw the independent packages that they have, because people are different. So you honor the in people and and it goes great, it's fabulous. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: what's one simple ⁓ way someone start becoming more aligned today Lily McNamara: this is my favorite thing because it's so effective. Everyone can do it ⁓ ⁓ feels ⁓ for entrepreneurs. So if you can get this one tiny step down, ⁓ are taking a leap and not a step forward. Pause. Entrepreneurs think momentum is everything and this misconception that pausing means stopping. It doesn't like I'm not asking you to stop. I'm not asking you to lose momentum, but there is tons of noise and chaos around us at all times as entrepreneurs. So imagine if you paused just for 30 seconds and took a few deep breaths and we're just aware. And it'll feel like creepy, crawly and awful the first time it's like, need to answer that email right now. And you'll like vibrate. Like I have seen clients like shake, like a maraca. And they're like, can I go again? And it's like, yeah, now you can. And they're like, So it's. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Hahaha Lily McNamara: But once you want to pause and then you'll pause and then you'll start trusting yourself. And then in that trust, you're going to start hearing your intuition and then following your intuition. But the first thing you have to do is pause because you're trusting yourself and your intuition may be screaming at you, but if you are obsessing over all the chaos around you, you're never going to hear it. And therefore you're never going to follow it. You're never going to take action and you're never going to have a truly aligned business. So pausing. is so simple. and so few entrepreneurs do it. And then when they do it, it feels foreign. And so they never wanna do it again. It's like, no, just get used to it. like exercising. The muscles are gonna hurt for a little bit, but once they start feeling good, it'll become so natural that in a meeting, you'll take a pause. Before we started, ⁓ we hit record, I took a pause. ⁓ sat there and I'm sure I look like a giant dork. I've seen pictures of when I pause. I'm like... And it's just like, but I pause and I just get in touch with my truth and trust myself and follow my intuition. And then I go in and do this interview. Like you just pause before you make decisions. You pause before you go into the meeting and the meeting will go so much better because you took 30 seconds to pause. We got 30 seconds as much as none of us have time. We all got 30 seconds to make our lives and businesses better. We can all spare it, I promise. The world will not end. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: ⁓ Have come across anyone who doesn't even realize that they're out of alignment? Lily McNamara: So many people and it's a lot of, there are two different kinds. There's ego, my way or no way, grr. I am everything. It's like, ⁓ okay. Well, that's lovely. Just you and your ego back off. ⁓ And the other one is, it's the one more thing again. It's the, okay, it's not about me and it's not about trusting myself or my intuition. It's about finding my next mentor. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Lily McNamara: and finding the next course and finding the next, those people, they don't even know that they're not trusting themselves. Cause they have so much faith and trust in everything outside of them. And they're like, I just need to find the thing. And it's like, the thing is inside, but they they're oblivious to the fact, it can't be me. I'm not, I'm not David Goggins. I'm not Gary V. I'm not Tony Robbins. Like they must know more than me. And to be clear, I love all three of those. They're amazing guys, but they don't know you more than you know you. So trust yourself, follow your intuition. Stop groping and grasping outside of you for something that's inside of you. It's so much closer. It's so much closer just to go like this. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: So aside from taking a pause, is there one thing that can change mindset immediately that someone needs to make a change right now? Lily McNamara: ⁓ I would say it's based on one of the biggest lessons that I had to learn was discernment. when you pause, ask yourself, is this mine? Is this meant for me? And it's not a woo woo thing. You can make it as logical as you want, or it can be a feeling, do whatever works for you. But when you look at these things and it's like, is this mine? You're gonna walk into ⁓ business meeting and a proposal is gonna be set down. When you pause, is this mine? And if it's a yes, enthusiastic, happy, yes, it's like, awesome. Yes. If it's not, look at that. So ask a question. There's no harm in asking the question. A lot of us don't ask the question because we're afraid the answer and we're afraid it's not going to align with this weird vision we have in our head. But the thing is, is that what if the vision in your head isn't as good as the reality could be? Like what you are destined for, what you're able to do with your intuition may be so much better than the picture you have in your head. So just ask, ask the question, is this mine? Is this meant for me? And if it is, it. And if not, walk away with no shame. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: that a lot very often we just try to push through ⁓ to take over everything that we can thinking that this is something that's going to make us better and more successful or whatever it is ⁓ as opposed to just taking a beat and just thinking ⁓ this for me and does this fit in the bigger plan of what I want to do? ⁓ of wasting so much time because sometimes that's what we do we go down the wrong path Lily McNamara: Yep. And you took it because everyone told you that that's the next logical step in business or that's what, you know, the course told you to do. But it's also, I have a warning with that for the overthinkers in the group, myself included. I genuinely mean pause, not stall, not stop. You pause. So when you pause and ask, is this mine? Is this meant for me? JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: you Lily McNamara: You're not pausing for a day. You're not 30 seconds. Set a timer. We've all got a smartphone. Set a timer. seconds. Take a few deep breaths. Ask the question. And yeah, it may take longer sometimes, but I don't want people to fall into like, well, you said pause and then you don't make a decision for like a year. ⁓ it's like, no, intuition is action. Do something with it. Participate, participate. So don't. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Yeah. Lily McNamara: Mistake and misconstrue a pause for a stall. A pause genuinely means like you're pausing and then you're starting up again. You're not waiting for someone to tell you it's okay to start. You're stopping. You're not losing momentum. A pause will never have you lose momentum. Stalling and stopping will. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: what's something ⁓ that most people about your work? Lily McNamara: There are so many misconceptions about my entire industry that combat on a daily basis ⁓ in person and in social media. One of the biggest ones is that it's all fluffy and it's all spiritual and it's all cosmic energy. That's very much not me. I don't know if any of you noticed that's very much not me. So for me personally with my business, it's making sure that people understand that what JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: You Lily McNamara: while there is tarot and reiki and meditation and all of that wonderful stuff. Yes, yum, yum, yum. That is one fraction of what I do. That is one fraction of what is actually effective. It's an important fraction, but being mindful, trusting yourself, setting healthy boundaries, understanding what your values are so that you can be alignment them, those are all equal parts also. understanding that there is a very practical way to do this metaphysical stuff and that it does not have to be difficult. Oh my God, do this ritual this way, this 17 step and if you do it wrong, a demon's gonna eat you. Oh, no. Dude, take 30 seconds and pause. It does the same thing. Stop over-complicating it. It can be simple. And guess what? The simple way is so much more effective. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: there been one transformation that you've worked with that can bring ⁓ of your work one? Lily McNamara: ⁓ of ⁓ oldest clients was in corporate for years and did all the different services that I provide. She loves the buffet. She wants a little bit everything. It's fabulous. And then when ⁓ she in her she was like, I want to do a big shift. I want to become an author she hired me sit with her. for a silent auction to like get a session with a best-selling author to be her mentor for a little bit. And she was like, okay, what? Like, this is how much I think it's gonna be. And I'm like, trust your intuition. And I coached her and cheerleaded her to do her intuition, to follow her intuition. And she went above the price that she had set for herself that she was willing to pay for the silent auction, but she won it. And then within the first year, she became a published author. Within the second year, she was able to quit her corporate job. Within the third year, she made her first million. Within the fourth year, she is now a multimillionaire bestselling author and she writes full-time and she's been able to retire her husband. that she used all the tools at her disposal. She listened to Yoda and she thwarted Vader. I love that story because as much as like I was there, did it. She followed her intuition. She trusted herself. She did everything that she needed to, to be the hero over her own story. And literally her life is completely different than anything she could have dreamed. It is so much better than anything she could have dreamed of. And I think that is fabulous for her. I celebrate her all the time. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Well, that's great. So she took the pause and then she took the action. you brought it all together. Excellent. Lily McNamara: Yes. Yeah, and she was scared when she did it. Like, don't get me wrong, she wasn't like, pause, and I'm full of empowerment. She's like, pause, then she did it anyway, and then she's like, ⁓ and then the happy warm fuzzies came, and she's like, this is awesome! JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Now, Lily, who should be reaching out to you right now? Lily McNamara: Entrepreneurs who are stressed or frustrated or second guessing themselves or have family who is doing the same. Cause like I said, a lot of the entrepreneurs that I have, it's a family package. They, they want everyone involved. ⁓ those, those are the people that, that I love working with the people who want to start trusting themselves and following their intuition and have their lives be easier so that they can have time to spend on the things that actually align with their values. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Excellent. And where can people connect with you? Lily McNamara: They can connect, ⁓ lilyofthelight.com is my website and it's the same for social media. use the same handle for everything because I would love to say it was for branding. ⁓ was laziness. I was like, I am never remembering another handle in my life. ⁓ I made it all the same for me. I'm glad that it helps other people, but it's all for me. Lily of the light everywhere. ⁓ JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: Yeah. you That's great. Well, Lily, thank you so much for the conversation. It's educational, but also very entertaining. Lily McNamara: Cause that's the thing, if nothing else, I want it to be fun for people. Like I hope I add value to people's life, but in reality, I'm like, if I made you giggle, I feel like I'm winning. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: well you won today. Excellent. Well, thank you. Lily McNamara: Thank you for having me, this has been so much fun. JOE ABREU - GLOVISOR: You're welcome. Till the next time.
