- 0:02Well, hey
- 0:23guys, it is John C.
- 0:25Morley here, Serial Entrepreneur.
- 0:27It is great to be with you on
- 0:29Inspirations for Your Life.
- 0:32Today is April 1st.
- 0:34Hopefully no one has fooled you yet today.
- 0:37That is my hope for you.
- 0:39I don't know if you're trying to fool
- 0:40anyone, but it is April 1st and this
- 0:44is 2026.
- 0:47We've had a very good master topic, which
- 0:49is continuing to take us through the rest
- 0:51of the week.
- 0:52So, you know, really grateful for that, ladies
- 0:54and gentlemen.
- 0:56And if this is your very first time
- 0:58being with me here on the Inspirations for
- 1:00Your Life show, I want to take the
- 1:02opportunity to say, well, I want to say
- 1:05welcome.
- 1:07Welcome to the show.
- 1:09And if you've been here many times before,
- 1:11well, then of course, you know what I
- 1:12want to say.
- 1:13I want to say welcome back.
- 1:15It is always great to have everyone with
- 1:17me that really enjoys, you know, improving the
- 1:21quality of their lives so very, very much.
- 1:25So, you know, when we think about, you
- 1:29know, what goes on in our life and
- 1:30we think about different things happening, sometimes, you
- 1:33know, we want to make a change.
- 1:35Right.
- 1:36But that change is something that for whatever
- 1:38reason, we just don't make it immediately.
- 1:40And I think that's a problem for, you
- 1:43know, a lot of people.
- 1:44They don't realize that we can make these
- 1:47changes and we can make them pretty easily,
- 1:50guys.
- 1:50They're not hard changes, you know, to make.
- 1:55But I think a lot of people, you
- 1:57know, a lot of people, they get stuck.
- 2:00And when I say they get stuck, it's
- 2:03because, you know, they're doing one thing and
- 2:06then for whatever reason, they just don't know
- 2:10how to do the next step.
- 2:11They just don't know what to do next.
- 2:13And that could be a real tobacco for,
- 2:15you know, a lot of people.
- 2:18So, by the way, guys, if you have
- 2:19not heard about BelieveMeAchieve.com, go check that
- 2:25out.
- 2:25I think you guys are going to be
- 2:26pretty impressed with BelieveMeAchieve.com.
- 2:30You can get my short form content.
- 2:31You can get my long form content and
- 2:34you can get so much more there.
- 2:36So, again, this is the place where you
- 2:39guys can actually, you know, become basically a
- 2:44better version of yourself.
- 2:46So, again, it is great to be with
- 2:48all of you here on the show.
- 2:51And a lot of times, you know, we're
- 2:53thinking of things.
- 2:55It's what's stopping us.
- 2:57Right.
- 2:57What's appearing to stop us.
- 3:00And so, you know, understanding this is, I
- 3:04think, a big challenge for a lot of
- 3:06people because, you know, they get stuck in
- 3:09this this doldrum way, this way that says,
- 3:12you know, I can't really do anything.
- 3:15And, you know, and that's a that's a
- 3:17problem for a lot of people because, you
- 3:20know, they're believing something and then for whatever
- 3:22reason, it just doesn't go the way they
- 3:25want it to go.
- 3:26So, guys, do check out BelieveMeAchieve.com again
- 3:30for more of my amazing, of course, inspiring
- 3:33creations, which you guys can do incidentally 24
- 3:36hours a day, seven days a week.
- 3:39So, again, it is very great to be
- 3:42with all of you here.
- 3:43If you're thirsty, if you're hungry, feel free
- 3:45to go grab something and come on back
- 3:47to the show.
- 3:49So this is series five.
- 3:52It is show 14 and this is episode
- 3:55number five.
- 3:57The master topic is owning your focus, clarity,
- 4:00courage and, of course, momentum.
- 4:03We'll get to that granular in just a
- 4:05moment.
- 4:06We're going to be talking more about focusing
- 4:08on the strength.
- 4:09I'm John C.
- 4:10Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 4:15podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student and
- 4:20a passionate lifelong learner.
- 4:23And pretty soon, guys, in just a few
- 4:25weeks, I'll be a published author.
- 4:26Really looking forward to that moment.
- 4:28So this episode of Inspirations for Real Life
- 4:31is all about sharpening your focus, acting decisively
- 4:36and building momentum through intentional choices.
- 4:40Now, small actions today can compound into unstoppable,
- 4:44basically personal growth.
- 4:46In case you guys didn't know, this is
- 4:48Wednesday.
- 4:49It is April 1st, 2026.
- 4:50Hopefully no one's gotten fooled.
- 4:52And how to lead with integrity.
- 4:57So this is very important, guys, how we
- 5:03can lead with integrity and how we can
- 5:06make these just in our life.
- 5:08So honesty builds trust.
- 5:12OK, being truthful attracts loyalty.
- 5:18And of course, you know what else it
- 5:19attracts?
- 5:20It attracts respect.
- 5:22So that's a very important point.
- 5:24I think that many people like they just
- 5:26don't understand.
- 5:27They don't get.
- 5:28Number two, guys, ethics.
- 5:30Yes.
- 5:32Guides are decisions.
- 5:33Let principles shape every choice you make.
- 5:36And I think that's a point that we
- 5:38all should work from, whether it's today or
- 5:41any other day.
- 5:42We have to be rooted in our core
- 5:44values.
- 5:45I mean, if we don't do that, guys,
- 5:46then we're going to be completely, completely lost.
- 5:50All right.
- 5:50And that's a that's a very important thing.
- 5:52Number three, guys.
- 5:55Transparency strengthens credibility.
- 5:59Transparency strengthens credibility.
- 6:02I think that's another important one that many
- 6:06of us miss is that we can do
- 6:09that if we believe that we can.
- 6:13So owning our focus and one part of
- 6:15that is how to lead with integrity.
- 6:18So transparency, number three, strengthens credibility and clarity
- 6:22and action amplifies the influence that we're already
- 6:25exerting.
- 6:26Number four, guys, consistency reinforces reputation.
- 6:31Repeated good actions, guys, define who you are.
- 6:34Number five, values create direction.
- 6:38Your core principles chart your path forward.
- 6:41And I think that's something that we have
- 6:42to realize is that we become this way
- 6:46because of how we are reacting in our
- 6:48life.
- 6:49And I think that's a very important thing
- 6:53to understand.
- 6:56And hopefully that will make sense for you
- 7:01and for everyone else around.
- 7:04So our values create direction.
- 7:07Your core principles chart your path forward.
- 7:09So where you are today has been charted
- 7:11from what was going on yesterday and the
- 7:13days before.
- 7:14Number six, guys, integrity improves influence.
- 7:18People follow those who act honorably.
- 7:21Accountability drives action.
- 7:24Owning your choices multiplies effectiveness.
- 7:28So accountability is the name of the game.
- 7:31But a lot of people miss accountability because
- 7:33of other short time immediate gratifications.
- 7:37Could be money, could be other types of
- 7:39pleasure, but they miss the long term benefits.
- 7:43So accountability drives action.
- 7:44Owning your choices multiplies the effectiveness.
- 7:48Number eight, trust attracts opportunity.
- 7:52Reliable behavior opens doors naturally.
- 7:55Number nine, moral courage creates respect.
- 8:00Standing for rightness earns admiration.
- 8:04And I think a lot of people over
- 8:06time will be like, you know, hey, this
- 8:07is something that I believe in very strongly.
- 8:10It's something that I think a lot of
- 8:11people would do because they want to get
- 8:16a pat on the back.
- 8:16But don't do something to have a pat
- 8:22on the back, OK?
- 8:24Don't do that because what you're going to
- 8:27find is that you're going to miss the
- 8:30trueness of who you are and it's going
- 8:31to slip right through your fingers.
- 8:34Number 10, guys, characters shape leadership.
- 8:38I've said that leadership is not born, it's
- 8:41made.
- 8:41The person you are directs the team form
- 8:45with you're on or you're part of.
- 8:47Number 11, guys, align actions with the principles,
- 8:51align the actions with the principles.
- 8:54Congruence strengthens authority, right?
- 8:57We've learned this in geometry many years back.
- 9:00But knowing how this works, I think, is
- 9:03something pretty crazy.
- 9:06And so when we can understand this, we
- 9:09can say, hey, you know what?
- 9:10Now I get what my alignment is.
- 9:15Number 12, guys, ethical choices compound advantage.
- 9:20Good decisions stack over time.
- 9:22They sure do.
- 9:24Number 13, integrity reduces mistakes.
- 9:28Honesty avoids costly errors.
- 9:31Honesty avoids the costly errors.
- 9:34Uphold standards.
- 9:36Number 14, daily, small, consistent adherence builds strength.
- 9:41Those small actions you take make the difference
- 9:44to who you really are and who you're
- 9:46becoming.
- 9:48Number 15, guys, lead by example.
- 9:53Leading by example is not something to be
- 10:00taken lightly, because I think when we can
- 10:03understand where something is coming from and how
- 10:09something is being, that can change us.
- 10:15Well, it could change us overnight, right?
- 10:19Because a lot of people just look at
- 10:22the face value.
- 10:22They don't look at everything in between.
- 10:24So lead by example, your behavior sets the
- 10:27cultural tone.
- 10:28All right.
- 10:29All right.
- 10:30So number 16, decisions reflect values.
- 10:35Every choice communicates who you are.
- 10:41Every choice, every choice.
- 10:46That's important, guys, every choice you make now
- 10:49and in the past.
- 10:52Number 17, guys, principles guide strategy.
- 10:56Long term alignment beats the short term gain.
- 10:59I know the short term gain sounds like
- 11:01something you want to get because it's so
- 11:03quick.
- 11:03It's so easy.
- 11:04But trust me, there are going to be
- 11:07downfalls to grabbing that quickness to going for
- 11:11the short term gravitation instead of the long
- 11:13term gravitation.
- 11:15Number 18, guys, integrity amplifies results.
- 11:21Trust accelerates collaboration, integrity amplifies results, IAR, and
- 11:28TAC, integrity amplifies results, IAR, and trust accelerates
- 11:33collaboration.
- 11:35Number 19, authenticity builds loyalty.
- 11:39Genuine behavior inspires fellowship, right?
- 11:43And people to follow, often called followership, followership,
- 11:47I should say.
- 11:49People don't follow because they have to.
- 11:52They follow because of a reason, a gut
- 11:56they get.
- 11:57I think that's the difference between somebody just
- 11:59saying, hey, you know, come on board and
- 12:01do this, to wait a minute, this is
- 12:03what we should be doing, right?
- 12:05What we should be doing.
- 12:07Number 20, guys, consistent ethics drive culture.
- 12:17Consistent ethics drive culture.
- 12:21Repeated good conduct sets the norms, sets the
- 12:27norms.
- 12:29And so it gets to a pattern and
- 12:32it gets people to think, well, what do
- 12:34I need to do, right?
- 12:36What do I need to do?
- 12:37Number 21, guys.
- 12:42Transparency fosters alignment.
- 12:46Open communication avoids confusion.
- 12:49It avoids confusion.
- 12:51That's it.
- 12:51That's a key, guys.
- 12:52Real key.
- 12:53Number 22, character sustains influence.
- 12:57Your reputation is your leverage.
- 13:00So who you're becoming and what you're doing
- 13:03makes a big, big difference in life.
- 13:07Number 23, guys, accountability means and maintains momentum.
- 13:15Responsibility keeps progress steady.
- 13:18So when we get ownership and we get
- 13:20accountability, we get consistent progress.
- 13:26Doesn't just happen today or happen tomorrow.
- 13:28It happens every single day of our life
- 13:31because we're on a trajectory in a system.
- 13:35Number 24, guys, honesty strengthens teams.
- 13:39Truthful interactions improve cohesion, how they come together,
- 13:44how they bond, how they assimilate information back
- 13:48and forth, how they're collaborating.
- 13:52Number 25, ethical focus shapes our identity.
- 13:57Ethical focus.
- 13:58So ethical deals with.
- 14:00One part, right, we have moral and we
- 14:03have ethical, right?
- 14:04So moral is what we feel is right
- 14:06or wrong.
- 14:06Ethical basically is what's right or wrong based
- 14:10on SOP standard operating procedures, based on rules,
- 14:13based on guidelines that have been set previously
- 14:15for us.
- 14:18That's important.
- 14:20To understand that whole concept, number 26, guys,
- 14:25values reinforce vision and clarity in priorities ensures
- 14:31direction.
- 14:31Let me say that again.
- 14:33Values reinforce vision.
- 14:36Clarity in priorities ensures direction and ensures direction.
- 14:46Values reinforce vision and clarity reinforces the priorities
- 14:54to ensure direction.
- 14:56Values reinforce vision.
- 14:57Clarity in the priorities ensures the direction you
- 15:01want to go.
- 15:02But it doesn't happen once.
- 15:05We have to keep feeding this, right?
- 15:07Just like if you eat something now and
- 15:09you don't eat for a while, you're going
- 15:10to be hungry.
- 15:11So you have to keep feeding this over
- 15:13and over and over again.
- 15:16Repetition, right?
- 15:18Number 27, guys, leadership requires integrity.
- 15:23Authority is empty without ethics.
- 15:26So what is that saying?
- 15:27Somebody who's in power doesn't have.
- 15:35True power without integrity.
- 15:42So you could appear to have authority because
- 15:44you're yelling and screaming or because you're head
- 15:47of something or you have control or something,
- 15:48but really that power is because of your
- 15:52position and not because of you as a
- 15:55leader.
- 15:56Let me see if I can give an
- 15:57example.
- 15:58Let's say you were appointed the president of
- 16:03the PTA, Parent Teachers Association, and you have
- 16:08the ability to move things through.
- 16:10But if you do things without the board's
- 16:13approval, you're eventually going to be impeached.
- 16:16So it's important that the board knows that
- 16:20you're going to work on the concept of
- 16:22integrity, that you're going to be someone who
- 16:24has integrity.
- 16:25If you don't, the board's not going to
- 16:28get along with you very well.
- 16:29And you're going to have this issue about,
- 16:31you know, what do we do?
- 16:32What do we say?
- 16:32And I think those are I think those
- 16:34are important things to understand that ethics, integrity,
- 16:42authority, they go together.
- 16:46But don't think authority is just somebody standing
- 16:49up on a chair, having a megaphone and
- 16:50yelling and screaming.
- 16:51That's not authority.
- 16:53That is somebody who has been placed in
- 16:56a position.
- 16:57So there's something called positional authority.
- 16:59OK, but that means that when you leave
- 17:02that position, that authority is gone.
- 17:05If your authority is rooted in ethics and
- 17:07integrity, when you leave the position, you will
- 17:11still have, if not most or all of
- 17:14that authority that was assigned to you from
- 17:16the position because of the respect that you
- 17:19have earned.
- 17:20And I think a lot of people miss
- 17:21that whole concept that respect is not something
- 17:26we do because it's today's latest fad.
- 17:28No, no, no.
- 17:29Respect is something we do daily so that
- 17:32we can become a better version of ourselves.
- 17:35We can help others become better versions of
- 17:36themselves, but also so that we can.
- 17:41Move things forward.
- 17:43When we don't operate within a certain continuum,
- 17:48the cycle ends.
- 17:50Sometimes abruptly, sometimes slowly, but it ends regardless
- 17:56of how we how we want to think
- 17:58about it.
- 17:58Number 28, guys, integrity multiplies trust.
- 18:06Integrity multiplies trust.
- 18:10Credibility grows exponentially.
- 18:13Let me say that again.
- 18:14Integrity multiplies trust.
- 18:17Credibility grows exponentially.
- 18:21Integrity multiplies trust.
- 18:25Credibility grows exponentially.
- 18:27That's powerful, guys.
- 18:29Really, really powerful.
- 18:31Number 29, ethical actions create stability.
- 18:36Sound decisions prevent chaos.
- 18:40Sound decisions prevent chaos.
- 18:43That's somebody who's making decisions based on, not
- 18:46emotion, they're basing it on logical things, based
- 18:51on rules, guidelines, based on data or data,
- 18:56right?
- 18:57If somebody's operating outside of that spectrum, then
- 19:03they're not really using the tools they were
- 19:07given, and that's going to make them a
- 19:09bad leader.
- 19:11Number 29, guys, ethical actions create stability.
- 19:16Sound decisions prevent chaos.
- 19:17I want to say that again because I
- 19:20don't think it hit home with everyone.
- 19:22Ethical decisions are doing things, meaning you're following
- 19:26the rules, and when you follow the rules,
- 19:30you have a structure.
- 19:31Let's think about this for a moment.
- 19:34Traffic lights, right?
- 19:35We all follow traffic lights because it's a
- 19:40rule, but not just because it's a rule,
- 19:42because it can affect our safety and everyone
- 19:46else's safety.
- 19:49We could get hit.
- 19:53Somebody could get severely injured or killed.
- 19:58So when something has that severe of an
- 20:01impact, it's like everybody wakes up, but when
- 20:04it doesn't have an impact, it's like, oh,
- 20:06my gosh, what do I do?
- 20:08What do I do in this situation?
- 20:10That might sound like something that's putting you,
- 20:13let's say, at bay, but really what it's
- 20:17teaching you is a very important lesson.
- 20:20What is that lesson?
- 20:22The lesson is simple.
- 20:24The lesson is have a structure.
- 20:26Some people say to me, hey, John, when
- 20:28I have a structure, I feel like I'm
- 20:30limited.
- 20:31Actually, it's just the opposite.
- 20:34When you have a structure in place, you
- 20:38actually have more freedom to move about.
- 20:41It seems like you're being stifled, but that's
- 20:45an illusion.
- 20:47You've got to stay within the lines, but
- 20:49you have quite a bit of freedom now.
- 20:52Again, a lot of people out there will
- 20:54miss that whole concept.
- 20:57Why?
- 20:58Because they believe everything should be their way.
- 21:01If you didn't agree in, let's say, the
- 21:04rules of traffic lights, what would happen to
- 21:08you?
- 21:09I'm going to tell you.
- 21:11You would most likely get a ticket.
- 21:15You would get a ticket.
- 21:19It's not just a fine.
- 21:20It's not just for the police to make
- 21:21money.
- 21:23It's because of the severe impact that riding
- 21:27will have, riding through a red light.
- 21:33Because you didn't follow the rules and everyone
- 21:35else is, you put their lives in jeopardy.
- 21:40No one's expecting you to go through a
- 21:42red light.
- 21:43So we presume that you're going to follow
- 21:46the lights.
- 21:47That's like the norm.
- 21:49When you don't, we've got to be impulse
- 21:51to be able to get out of the
- 21:52way.
- 21:54But we're pretty much assuming that if you're
- 21:56a driver, you're probably going to pay attention
- 21:59to traffic lights.
- 22:01It's not an emotional decision.
- 22:03It's an SOP.
- 22:04But we're also following it because we know
- 22:07that if we don't follow it, we could
- 22:08get seriously hurt or we could hurt others,
- 22:11not to mention all the consequences that can
- 22:13have.
- 22:14And so that has a double entendre.
- 22:17It has the concept of doing what's right.
- 22:24Okay.
- 22:24So we have the moral thing, but we
- 22:27also have the ethical thing, which is doing
- 22:28what's right based on the rules or the
- 22:31law.
- 22:32So we don't get a ticket.
- 22:33So don't get in trouble with the law.
- 22:35Okay.
- 22:35So that's how, that's how that works.
- 22:38Number 30, guys, lead with unwavering integrity.
- 22:44Your choices leave a lasting mark on people
- 22:47and the world.
- 22:50And I don't say this to scare you.
- 22:52I say this to tell you that the
- 22:56decisions you make affect people every single day,
- 23:03every single day.
- 23:09And that every single day is not something
- 23:12most people are going to say, gee, you
- 23:14know, I think I'll do it today.
- 23:17I'm going to follow the traffic lights today
- 23:19because the weather is nice.
- 23:21No, you're going to follow the lights every
- 23:23single day that you're on the road, because
- 23:24you know that when you follow the traffic
- 23:26lights, you're going to be able to most
- 23:29likely drive safely.
- 23:30If somebody doesn't follow the traffic lights, of
- 23:33course you get all upset and mad, but
- 23:34that's not going to do anything.
- 23:35You need to make sure that you are
- 23:36a defensive driver.
- 23:39Somebody goes to a red light, you want
- 23:40to prevent them.
- 23:41You want to swerve.
- 23:42That's a normal year practice, but you're doing
- 23:45it because they're not following the rules.
- 23:48So as number 30 says, lead with unwavering
- 23:51integrity.
- 23:52Your choices leave a mark, not just a
- 23:56mark, guys, a lasting mark on the world.
- 24:00That's a very powerful statement.
- 24:03Because I chose to hold the door for
- 24:07somebody, that person may choose to hold the
- 24:10door for someone else.
- 24:12Now, is that a rule?
- 24:13No, it's a common courtesy, but common courtesies
- 24:17can get other people to extend the same
- 24:20action or something similar because people value what
- 24:25you've done.
- 24:28I want to use the example when we
- 24:30think about this integrity concept of somebody in
- 24:33a crowd, right?
- 24:35And they yell something like, um, fire, which
- 24:39you never want to do.
- 24:41And they yell this and everybody gets up
- 24:44and goes out of the building.
- 24:48Guess what?
- 24:49There's no fire.
- 24:52If you run out of the building, people
- 24:53come back and there's no fire and they're
- 24:55not happy with this guy.
- 24:57So next time he calls fire, they run
- 25:01out again and they do it again.
- 25:05Finally, we were like, you know what?
- 25:06Enough's enough.
- 25:07Like, we're not following you.
- 25:10I was in a school building a few
- 25:13weeks back and we just got an announcement
- 25:17over the, um, the alarm PA system, the
- 25:21fire alarm PA system saying that we're working
- 25:23on the alarm.
- 25:24If you hear the alarm going off, please
- 25:27disregard it.
- 25:28We are testing the system.
- 25:31So we're off a couple of times and
- 25:32then about a half hour later, a cop
- 25:35on campus walks in.
- 25:36The alarm is going, why are you people
- 25:38not leaving?
- 25:39This is a fire alarm.
- 25:42And I said to him, I said, well,
- 25:44officer, I said, I'm not sure if you
- 25:45know, they're working on the and they actually
- 25:48told us twice not to leave the building
- 25:50until, uh, they've told us, uh, to do
- 25:54that because right now they said they're just
- 25:55working on it and the alarms don't really
- 25:57mean anything.
- 26:00He goes, oh, well, they never told us.
- 26:04So sometimes the situational awareness that we need,
- 26:09we're not given.
- 26:12And sometimes we have to relay that situational
- 26:14awareness to other people.
- 26:15Otherwise they're like, what are you doing?
- 26:17Like, this is nuts.
- 26:19Absolutely nuts.
- 26:22So when we think about leading, I don't
- 26:25care whether we're thinking about leading a small
- 26:27group, uh, a larger group, or completely huge,
- 26:32uh, crowd leading starts with the concept that
- 26:38I'm doing this.
- 26:42I'm not telling you to do this.
- 26:44I'm suggesting if it's something more of a
- 26:48life situation, then of course people hopefully will
- 26:50follow on to that, that track, right?
- 26:54They'll follow on to it.
- 26:56But I think a lot of people don't
- 26:58get like the reason to why they're following.
- 27:00They don't understand why they follow or what
- 27:04makes them not follow.
- 27:07Um, I think that's an important piece to,
- 27:12you know, really, um, understand how that really
- 27:17works.
- 27:20So ladies and gentlemen, um, I do want
