- 0:00Speaker 1: You know our Bible study group is going to the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Holy Land next month. I'd like you and your family
- 0:06Speaker 1: become as my guests.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hmm, let me think, take my family to a war
- 0:11Speaker 2: zone and a butch filled with religious lamos, in a
- 0:15Speaker 2: country with no pork, in a desert with no CASINOSO,
- 0:22Speaker 2: where do I sign? No four finger discount.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Ude, Welcome to four Finger Discount where this week we
- 0:46Speaker 3: here to review. Well, first of all, I'm Dando. Hey,
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'm guys. So I've been doing this podcast for eleven years, right,
- 0:52Speaker 3: you've been doing it for six. We've reviewed some absolute stinkers,
- 0:56Speaker 3: some episodes. I still fall back in Codependence Day, that's
- 0:58Speaker 3: the podcast, because it made me so angry. Like I said,
- 1:03Speaker 3: we were reviewed some absolute stinkers those over those years.
- 1:06Speaker 3: But to quote camp Bruckman, this one outstinks them all.
- 1:09Speaker 4: We've got a new jam Bladers and gentlemen.
- 1:11Speaker 3: This one was bad in the sense I think this
- 1:15Speaker 3: was worse than Codependence Day because this one didn't have
- 1:18Speaker 3: any logic, any jokes, an ending that was so far
- 1:24Speaker 3: fetched and ludicrous. It just left me not angry, baffled.
- 1:28Speaker 4: And that's before we even get into the whole weeds
- 1:31Speaker 4: of has this age poorly.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you had one of the biggest i'd say one
- 1:37Speaker 3: of the biggest stars at the time. Sash about it current.
- 1:39Speaker 3: He was just coming off the Borat film was two
- 1:41Speaker 3: thousand and six. I think it's a twenty ten Alig.
- 1:43Speaker 3: He's still right in that waves Kinder. People knew who
- 1:46Speaker 3: he was. He was a big name at the time,
- 1:47Speaker 3: right in twenty ten. This is how you used him.
- 1:50Speaker 4: By the way, have we announced what we're talking about?
- 1:52Speaker 3: Oh? Yeah, So the title is a lie. It's called
- 1:55Speaker 3: the Greatest Story Ever doed a play on the greatest
- 1:58Speaker 3: story ever told? Yeah, saytually the Simpsons go to Jerusalem.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Why we don't know that? We do know this. This
- 2:06Speaker 3: is how stupid the fucking story is, right, this is
- 2:08Speaker 3: how ridiculous it is. So Flanders is annoyed again by
- 2:12Speaker 3: something Homer does. He's having a Bible studies group, and
- 2:15Speaker 3: then they go, We're going to Israel. Do you want
- 2:16Speaker 3: to come with us? And I'm gonna take you down.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I'm going to help you find the find the light,
- 2:20Speaker 3: become a better person. And Marj's like, you're gonna do
- 2:24Speaker 3: all that, my homie, Well, we can't, we can't make
- 2:26Speaker 3: you pay for it. We're all going to come and
- 2:27Speaker 3: we're gonna pay for it. I'm like, what is this?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Why would she think that that's going to help Homer?
- 2:34Speaker 3: B Why we shed then go, We're gonna pay for it.
- 2:37Speaker 3: See why the kid's going The Simpsons are going to Israel.
- 2:41Speaker 3: That's why which this episode sucks me saying this in
- 2:46Speaker 3: twenty twenty six. It feels odd to say that because
- 2:49Speaker 3: we've had so many episodes with like the Simptoms are
- 2:51Speaker 3: going to England, the Simpsons are going to Ireland, the
- 2:54Speaker 3: Simptons are going to Australia, the Simpsons are going to Israel.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Foist the entire time. I'm going to do that voice
- 3:01Speaker 3: the whole time.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Now, First of all, this is a question I wanted
- 3:04Speaker 4: to say at the very very beginning because I did
- 3:06Speaker 4: a bit of research.
- 3:07Speaker 3: But which I mean? I visited the Wikipedia.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Page for this episode. The writer of this episode was
- 3:12Speaker 4: a local price, wasn't it. I know it's Kevin Current,
- 3:14Speaker 4: Kevin's Longer with Us? Yes, Kevin Current is the next episode. Yes,
- 3:19Speaker 4: was nominated for what is called the Humanitess Prize.
- 3:22Speaker 3: What is that? I didn't even look it up. Here's
- 3:23Speaker 3: the quote. This is work that.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Explores the human condition in a nuanced and meaningful manner.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Let me ask you, Dando does it? Where was the nuance?
- 3:37Speaker 4: Where was the meaning?
- 3:38Speaker 3: So Homer then is an obnoxious jerk the entire time.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Flanders throws in the town and concedes, I can't fix
- 3:44Speaker 3: this guy. He's beyond redemption. Yes, goes to see a movie,
- 3:48Speaker 3: goes to see Transformers, go to see the Reformist. Homer
- 3:51Speaker 3: goes to look for Flanders goes out into the desert
- 3:54Speaker 3: on a I think it was something desert horse. We
- 3:58Speaker 3: call it desert horse anyway, desert car and it gets lost,
- 4:01Speaker 3: has like an epiphany, thinks he's now the Messiah. And
- 4:03Speaker 3: then they explain that apparently this is a condition to
- 4:05Speaker 3: people who'll suffer from when they go to Jerusalem. Jerusalem.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Now, in your research, did you find is this actually
- 4:13Speaker 4: a thing that happened.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I refuse to believe this is an actual thing. I
- 4:15Speaker 3: don't think people go then and think they come out
- 4:16Speaker 3: thinking their guide or that's the case.
- 4:18Speaker 4: No, people may go and have and have like some
- 4:21Speaker 4: kind of conversion or epiphany. It's like, wow, all this
- 4:25Speaker 4: stuff that I read about in the Bible, Well, that's
- 4:26Speaker 4: an actual place that's pretty wild. Yeah, but I don't
- 4:30Speaker 4: think Jerusalem syndrome is actually a thing.
- 4:33Speaker 3: And hope it becomes a messiah and people buy into it.
- 4:36Speaker 3: He's like, you're now going to be like he creed
- 4:40Speaker 3: you or something something like that. I will say, however, yeah, I.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Will occasionally break out the green highlight to go, hey,
- 4:47Speaker 4: favorite bits of this episode. I only have one instance
- 4:50Speaker 4: where I broke out the green highlight. Don't spoil it
- 4:52Speaker 4: the favorite, but it does involve that particular sequet.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Okay, we'll all go to tease for the favorite moments,
- 4:58Speaker 3: so stick around. But this is the kind of episode
- 5:01Speaker 3: for me. I always say, there's people out there that
- 5:04Speaker 3: just hate the Simpsons for the sake of hate the Simpsons.
- 5:06Speaker 3: It's not the way it used to be. Shape your
- 5:07Speaker 3: fist that cloud, right, But these are the kind of
- 5:10Speaker 3: episodes where you kind of get justified because if you
- 5:12Speaker 3: just tuned into the Simpsons after ten years and this
- 5:14Speaker 3: was what you saw, you would go, I'm not watching
- 5:16Speaker 3: the Simpsons ever. Again, that is highly correct. Honestly, as
- 5:20Speaker 3: a fan, if I tuned in after a couple of
- 5:21Speaker 3: years and this was the one that I watched, I
- 5:23Speaker 3: would go this show has lost it? Yeah, lost it?
- 5:27Speaker 3: Did you laugh once? I maybe got a couple of chuckles,
- 5:30Speaker 3: But I just thought this one was so nothing. It
- 5:35Speaker 3: was just I'm watching. I got to the end and
- 5:36Speaker 3: I went, what was the point? Now? The tour guy
- 5:39Speaker 3: was played by Sasha, right, were these jokes funny if
- 5:43Speaker 3: you're Jewish? Or was it just like you have to
- 5:45Speaker 3: be Jewish to get the jokes in this episode? Because
- 5:47Speaker 3: it was completely lost on me. I was watching this going,
- 5:51Speaker 3: he's just being mean, He's just speaking really fast, coming
- 5:55Speaker 3: understand him half the time.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Let's we're gonna we're have to walk very carefully through
- 5:59Speaker 4: a lot of these things, because I mean, I think
- 6:01Speaker 4: we're trafficking in sort of like cultural and I guess
- 6:05Speaker 4: racial stereotized to some degree. I may be incorrected, but
- 6:08Speaker 4: I want there may be a distinction between, say, what
- 6:12Speaker 4: you traditionally regard as the Jewish identity and the Israeli identity.
- 6:17Speaker 3: How do I frame it?
- 6:18Speaker 4: Maybe all Israelis are Jewish, but not all Jewish Israeli
- 6:23Speaker 4: from what I understand, and again I'm trying not to
- 6:26Speaker 4: offend anyone when I say this. I'm just going by
- 6:29Speaker 4: what I've heard and what I can sort of set
- 6:31Speaker 4: me understand is that the Israeli character can be viewed
- 6:35Speaker 4: as a very upfront and to some degree confrontational, but
- 6:42Speaker 4: you want to be less than charitable. You could say
- 6:44Speaker 4: arrogant and abrasive, and maybe that's a play on that,
- 6:47Speaker 4: and it's Yeah, the comic character was well comic effect,
- 6:50Speaker 4: pushing it to ludicrous extreme.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I'm watching it. Having said that, none of just felt
- 6:54Speaker 3: scripted off, felt like, hey, Sasha just just just be
- 6:57Speaker 3: angry at the microphone for twenty minutes sometimes where we
- 7:00Speaker 3: talking for like thirty seconds straight and the people around
- 7:03Speaker 3: him were just sort of rolling their eyes, and I'm going, yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 3: I feel you, Yeah, what is this? Yeah, Now, I've
- 7:08Speaker 3: read some reviews where they were saying, oh, yeah, I've
- 7:11Speaker 3: had tour guides like this who are and not necessarily
- 7:13Speaker 3: Israeli ones. Just you know, you'll go to a different
- 7:16Speaker 3: country and you'll go on a cultural tour or whatever,
- 7:18Speaker 3: and the tour guide will be talking a mile a
- 7:20Speaker 3: minute and wanting to do their thing as opposed to
- 7:24Speaker 3: almost like doing a tight five, as opposed to imparting information.
- 7:29Speaker 3: But having said that, yeah, I mean I didn't find
- 7:32Speaker 3: it all that human. I didn't really know anything about
- 7:34Speaker 3: this episode going in and all throughout. When you've got
- 7:37Speaker 3: the tour guide, I was like, who is this? You know?
- 7:41Speaker 4: And props to Sasha Baron Cohnor. I think he's a
- 7:43Speaker 4: very talented person. He clearly immersed himself in this character
- 7:46Speaker 4: and up that I was like, oh, he is Jewish,
- 7:47Speaker 4: which ye yeah, well yeah, that is a very big
- 7:49Speaker 4: part of his I guess identity. I mean he's he's
- 7:52Speaker 4: very pro.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Jude days and we'll pro jew What he did with
- 7:56Speaker 3: this character was like, I didn't know that was Sasha
- 7:58Speaker 3: Baron Cohen. At the end, I kind of went, oh,
- 8:00Speaker 3: that's Sasha Barron going I don't feel bad for him.
- 8:03Speaker 3: There was so one note it was yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Now, whether that's the joke, I don't know.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I just watched this, going this guy here. You could
- 8:12Speaker 3: have done such a biggest, more entertaining story keeping him
- 8:14Speaker 3: in Springfield, tying in Krusty in some way, Krusty being
- 8:17Speaker 3: Jewish maybe could be a cousin of Krusty's a long
- 8:20Speaker 3: lost brother, you know, anyone did the whole rival show
- 8:24Speaker 3: thing again, but tying a story with Krusty.
- 8:27Speaker 4: I just think having him there and then having him
- 8:31Speaker 4: go where he goes at the airport is like, oh boy, yeah,
- 8:35Speaker 4: I mean there's some really I'm know, the bad taste jokes.
- 8:39Speaker 4: At the time, they're worst taste jokes now you know what.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It felt like.
- 8:42Speaker 4: It's almost like, I mean, this is the kind of
- 8:44Speaker 4: shit that you would sort of edit out start raping
- 8:47Speaker 4: dad style.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah. Well. The thing is, though, so Krusty is the
- 8:51Speaker 3: big Jewish character of the show, right, and it feels
- 8:54Speaker 3: like that scene with him at the airport felt like, well,
- 8:56Speaker 3: we need to get Crusty in there somewhere because he's
- 8:58Speaker 3: the Jewish character. So we'll have him a here one
- 9:00Speaker 3: and done. I think he might appear once throughout the episode,
- 9:03Speaker 3: but it's like it's pointless, Yeah, he has no. So
- 9:06Speaker 3: many moments in this episode have no bearing on the story.
- 9:10Speaker 3: It's like, for example, who was the other guest star
- 9:12Speaker 3: the voice of the young girl, Oh Yaley'll.
- 9:17Speaker 4: No, yeah, yeah, yes, who I believe is a singer songwriter?
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yes, okay, so she voices the security It turns out
- 9:25Speaker 3: to be off the tour tour guide. Yeah. So her
- 9:29Speaker 3: point was she chases Bart for like a chase and
- 9:31Speaker 3: it goes forever and then she they have like a
- 9:35Speaker 3: and then she has her own version of karate and
- 9:36Speaker 3: they beat she beats him up, and that's it. Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 4: The Israeli marshal out Kraub Macgardens apparently kind of bad us.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I wouldn't I'd like to learn it. Actually, yeah, and
- 9:45Speaker 4: it's not fucking around and.
- 9:47Speaker 3: But but what was the point. It didn't have any
- 9:49Speaker 3: bearing on this, There was no the story is that
- 9:52Speaker 3: the Home of Flanders story. But by the time they
- 9:54Speaker 3: get to Israel, it's just the Simpsons are going to
- 9:56Speaker 3: this Lamark, The Simpsons are going to that Lambart, The
- 9:58Speaker 3: Simpsons are going here. Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Look, there are some episodes where you know they've got
- 10:03Speaker 4: the initial idea and it's like, I don't mind that,
- 10:06Speaker 4: you can actually do some interesting stuff with that. And
- 10:08Speaker 4: that's the issue. That's the episode we're going to be
- 10:10Speaker 4: talking about next. I think that American History Excellent, which
- 10:13Speaker 4: is our next episode, I think has got a really
- 10:16Speaker 4: sturdy foundational idea.
- 10:19Speaker 3: This not so much. Yeah, I completely agree. When we
- 10:21Speaker 3: get to the episode next week, I completely agree. There
- 10:23Speaker 3: was a lot there that could have been fixed. This
- 10:26Speaker 3: one here is this is folding.
- 10:29Speaker 4: This is the planners not worth saving, no.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Worth watching.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Well yeah, and also it's everyone comes off badly in.
- 10:38Speaker 3: This, especially Homer. I'm much in this is terrible. But
- 10:41Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, so this Kevin rest in peace, buddy.
- 10:44Speaker 3: But you've regressed the character again because the character felt
- 10:48Speaker 3: has been better in recent recent episodes. Yeah, he's just
- 10:51Speaker 3: gone back to moronic, horrible cruel but knowing he is
- 10:56Speaker 3: too and not caring. I'm just I'm an American tourist.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Time do this and it's like, no, no, I have
- 11:04Speaker 3: a little make him more pushy Americans as it goes along,
- 11:08Speaker 3: when he's confronted with a foreign culture, make him go, no,
- 11:12Speaker 3: everything's better in America.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Don't have him just step off the plane in a
- 11:15Speaker 4: USA hat, just you know.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Just in case he didn't forget he was an American tourist.
- 11:19Speaker 3: He's wearing USA everything, indeed, but every I mean, but
- 11:21Speaker 3: Ned as well. I mean, I think we've had episodes
- 11:25Speaker 3: in the past or experiences in the past with Ned
- 11:27Speaker 3: where he's kind of like, I want to sort of
- 11:30Speaker 3: bring people around in my way of thinking. But he's
- 11:32Speaker 3: never been all that sort of pushy I'm taking you
- 11:34Speaker 3: to Israel this you this time.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I mean, he usually sort of tries to lead by example.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I suppose it was love to join this one here.
- 11:40Speaker 3: He gave him the challenge of fixing him.
- 11:42Speaker 4: But still, I guess but Ned just came across as
- 11:44Speaker 4: really pushing. It's kind of like, dude.
- 11:48Speaker 3: He's up. I've developed this theory this week. I'm trying
- 11:52Speaker 3: to work out like people kept saying. I got asked
- 11:54Speaker 3: a lot this week by friends, went to a couple
- 11:56Speaker 3: of parties. When you're Consimpsons stopped being good and I
- 11:59Speaker 3: thought about enough, what about it? This episode? I think
- 12:02Speaker 3: it is when Homer the character realized he was an asshole.
- 12:07Speaker 3: He was an asshole in the Golden Era at times,
- 12:10Speaker 3: but he was oblivious to it, and then he got
- 12:12Speaker 3: called out for it and went, you know what, I'm sorry,
- 12:14Speaker 3: let me fix this. There came a point where the
- 12:17Speaker 3: Homer character was a prick to everybody, deliberately didn't care.
- 12:22Speaker 3: They would call him out for it and he go, shut up, mate,
- 12:24Speaker 3: So what I'm Homer Simpson. That's when the show started.
- 12:28Speaker 3: That's when the vibe of the show changed. When your
- 12:31Speaker 3: main character was horrible knowingly and didn't care, didn't want
- 12:36Speaker 3: to fix things. And then sometimes they would go They'll
- 12:39Speaker 3: try and have an ending where he's like, I really
- 12:40Speaker 3: need to fix something, but you've been so horrible for
- 12:42Speaker 3: so long deliberately that there's no redemption here, very much
- 12:45Speaker 3: the case. Yeah, just this episode here, I just left going,
- 12:49Speaker 3: this is everything that people say they don't like the
- 12:52Speaker 3: sims anymore. This is case in point, this is why
- 12:54Speaker 3: you would stop watching the Simpsons.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Yeah, looks poorly deployed, Yester oh Man.
- 13:02Speaker 3: And honestly one of my wasn't wasn't that good? Not
- 13:05Speaker 3: that good?
- 13:06Speaker 4: One of my pet peeves jokes that explain themselves. And yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 4: as I said, a found a faulty foundation for a story. Yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 4: no good, no good, no Blino.
- 13:18Speaker 3: And then by the end of it, because the people
- 13:20Speaker 3: buy into which you get into your favorite moments that
- 13:22Speaker 3: people buy into Homer's new philosophy on well peace and
- 13:25Speaker 3: whatnot and with religion, Flantnus now thinks I go through
- 13:29Speaker 3: to him, right like, I'm going, no, you didn't, And
- 13:30Speaker 3: then he gets into Planet Homes like you got through
- 13:32Speaker 3: to me. I'm like, wait a minute, no you didn't,
- 13:34Speaker 3: because we know the next episode you're going to go
- 13:36Speaker 3: back to being a pricta Flanners again. Exactly.
- 13:38Speaker 4: You can't be putting a band aid on at the
- 13:39Speaker 4: very end and thinking that you've caused you know, you've
- 13:43Speaker 4: saved an amputated leg.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I just didn't like this episode. Bottom of the barrel.
- 13:47Speaker 3: This is bottom. This is top five worst episodes for me.
- 13:51Speaker 3: It ain't great, it's it's bad. Yeah, it's no good
- 13:53Speaker 3: at all. It's horrible.
- 13:55Speaker 4: By the way, this episode apparently received mixed to positive reviews.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I refuse to believe that, yes, which only confirms the
- 14:02Speaker 3: rumor the Jews do run the media. God, I'm true,
- 14:08Speaker 3: don't mean it. My favorite, all right, favorite moments in
- 14:12Speaker 3: the episode is the Davis.
- 14:13Speaker 4: I only have one, and it's when Homer does, in
- 14:15Speaker 4: fact trying to bring peace to the Middle East by
- 14:18Speaker 4: saying that not all of us eat pork, not all
- 14:20Speaker 4: of us eat sheellfish, but all of us love chicken.
- 14:22Speaker 4: It's like, that's actually not a bad.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think the the Arabic guy says, yeah,
- 14:30Speaker 3: it's good Google with kageen and yeah, yeah, boil it.
- 14:33Speaker 3: And but so does anyone not like chicken? You know
- 14:35Speaker 3: what it is because we're raised to eat chicken nuggets.
- 14:40Speaker 3: The staple kids mill at a pub nuggets and chips.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, very much so. Over the last couple of decades,
- 14:45Speaker 3: I've just I've just sort of fallen on the point
- 14:47Speaker 3: of now of what the kids are doing something. It's
- 14:49Speaker 3: like nuggets and chips, Like what's how high? Sir?
- 14:54Speaker 4: Well, if you were watching on YouTube a little earlier,
- 14:58Speaker 4: by means go back and do something's I think stopping
- 15:00Speaker 4: it but you may see over Dando's shoulder the World's
- 15:03Speaker 4: Best Dad picture, drawn by Elliott.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Tell you what is my favorite food? K Well, my
- 15:12Speaker 3: dad is always my dad always says funny things my dad.
- 15:16Speaker 3: My favorite thing about Dad is he's cheeky. My dad
- 15:19Speaker 3: is thirty seven. His favorite color is blue. That's correct.
- 15:22Speaker 3: That is so good at footy, and dad makes the
- 15:24Speaker 3: best I think it says snitzles. Okay, he's right about
- 15:28Speaker 3: most of those things. But yeah, certainly. But yeah, everybody
- 15:32Speaker 3: loves chicken. Hey, guess what that was my favorite moment
- 15:35Speaker 3: from this episode? Read what my favorite moment was? Guy
- 15:40Speaker 3: none full stop none bullstop cooked and I went, I'm
- 15:47Speaker 3: sure I chuckled, But you know what, I'll get to
- 15:49Speaker 3: those when we do have full run through, because I
- 15:50Speaker 3: couldn't be bother going back and trying to find them. Yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 3: not normally those bits when I'm doing the the review
- 15:55Speaker 3: and taking notes where I go, oh, that's a good one.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I'll put that in my favorite moments. Nothing.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I couldn't find any Everything I've written down here is like,
- 16:02Speaker 4: either this might have aged badly, oh boy, but kind
- 16:08Speaker 4: of a jerk too. There is my favorite note. They're
- 16:11Speaker 4: a point to this.
- 16:13Speaker 3: In this accent and yeah, this is no good. But
- 16:18Speaker 3: here's the thing. I couldn't tell if this episode was
- 16:22Speaker 3: pro Jewish or anti Submittic. That's the problem, isn't it.
- 16:27Speaker 3: It's so weird. Yeah, and not weird in a good way. No,
- 16:30Speaker 3: it's highlighting all the stereotypes of the culture, but really
- 16:33Speaker 3: painting in a negative light. Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, well we've done our favorite moments.
- 16:38Speaker 3: That's that. Yeah. I will say the one bit that
- 16:41Speaker 3: I liked about this one was at the start because
- 16:43Speaker 3: I felt the most at least somewhat normal Simpsons episode
- 16:46Speaker 3: where Homa was playing with the kids on the slipping
- 16:48Speaker 3: side and stuff like that. There's a couple of sort
- 16:50Speaker 3: of funny zingers there because I always like it when
- 16:54Speaker 3: I see Homo somewhat being a good dad. But even still,
- 16:56Speaker 3: it was being a jerk at the same time, and
- 16:58Speaker 3: I was just like, Ah's he's done a dumb down
- 17:01Speaker 3: jerky where he rips out the bit of the lawn lawn.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and then of tribal jungle dancers.
- 17:09Speaker 3: What is going on here?
- 17:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's very much what is going.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Next question you there eating the paste trivia time. My
- 17:19Speaker 3: first question for you is what is the name of
- 17:21Speaker 3: the little girl? Oh, it's a really well, it's very
- 17:26Speaker 3: Israeli name. Is it dieta it? Do I know a
- 17:31Speaker 3: door ring once?
- 17:33Speaker 4: I have not known anyone by that name, but asked
- 17:37Speaker 4: the end of that chapter, and now you know the
- 17:40Speaker 4: rest story. My first question is Ned's clock has a
- 17:45Speaker 4: saying on it?
- 17:45Speaker 3: What is that? Which? Where was the clock in the kitchen? Yeah?
- 17:49Speaker 3: It says time for a good deed? Okay. What does
- 17:52Speaker 3: Jesus arms are like? The Oh a nice one? What
- 17:54Speaker 3: I thought it would have been the cross? Maybe those
- 17:58Speaker 3: arms are moving? What was on his bracelet? W W
- 18:03Speaker 3: J D Yeah, Tyler Durton do.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Uh?
- 18:10Speaker 4: When they get to the hotel in Jerusalem, the breakfast
- 18:14Speaker 4: buffet closes.
- 18:15Speaker 3: When interim minutes. It's intimidate because it wasn't an actual time,
- 18:19Speaker 3: was just intim minutes. I actually didn't mind that because
- 18:22Speaker 3: I will put it to a vote and they all
- 18:23Speaker 3: vote the breakfast buff I'm not a big fan of
- 18:25Speaker 3: breakfast buffets. I find I get to it and I
- 18:29Speaker 3: go once about a couple of eggs. I'm like, I
- 18:30Speaker 3: don't want to have all I can eat at breakfast
- 18:32Speaker 3: time because I feel like a sloth for the rest
- 18:34Speaker 3: of the day. Correct. I mean, if you're gonna eat
- 18:35Speaker 3: the biggest meal, it should be the morning because you
- 18:37Speaker 3: can work it off throughout the day. But I don't
- 18:39Speaker 3: want to feel like a bloated mess from breakfast time onwards. No, No,
- 18:42Speaker 3: it's true. Do you do you like a good OI
- 18:43Speaker 3: you can eat buffet, not breakfast buffet, just all you
- 18:45Speaker 3: can eat for dinner. Wise, I like, I like all
- 18:48Speaker 3: you can eat buffets for dinner, not breakfast.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I mind a breakfast buffet in all honesty.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, and one that's I like the unlimited hash
- 18:56Speaker 3: Browns I do take.
- 18:58Speaker 4: But then, I mean, we went out for Mother's Day
- 19:02Speaker 4: a little while ago. When it was Mother's Day, you
- 19:04Speaker 4: did with shouldn't want you around put I put my
- 19:08Speaker 4: back out on staying in bed, like okay, mom, went
- 19:13Speaker 4: to a very well it was a pretty nice place,
- 19:15Speaker 4: but it was like, oh, hashma, Yeah, I've also got
- 19:17Speaker 4: this dealer where it's like, okay, you order eggs and
- 19:20Speaker 4: that costs this much, and then side side side side side,
- 19:22Speaker 4: it's like.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Three dollars per hash brown.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Man, we used to make things in this country, but
- 19:25Speaker 4: I mean breakfast.
- 19:26Speaker 3: You know, you dolls for spinish, three dollars for this,
- 19:29Speaker 3: three dollars for that. And I'm like, what do you mean?
- 19:31Speaker 3: They should be automatic on the big break doesn't this
- 19:34Speaker 3: say big breakfast?
- 19:36Speaker 4: Just look like a man who had all he could
- 19:37Speaker 4: eat but a hash brown. And it was kind of
- 19:40Speaker 4: like a giant like all those things, a little like
- 19:44Speaker 4: a giant potato gem and all we're sort of mashing.
- 19:47Speaker 3: That's what you want, No, it's not what you want.
- 19:50Speaker 3: You want a thin, flat, correct, crispy and crispy.
- 19:53Speaker 4: And this was a bit more sort of like it
- 19:55Speaker 4: was sold on the outside like nationally.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Inside it's like this is not No, they're still one
- 20:00Speaker 3: thing that macas get right out the hash Browns. Correct, Yes,
- 20:03Speaker 3: did they still do the hotcakes? Didn't they cancel? I'm
- 20:06Speaker 3: not sure. I was working at the pop Culture record
- 20:09Speaker 3: store the other day and they were like, we're doing
- 20:10Speaker 3: a macas are only one and I'm like, nah, go
- 20:12Speaker 3: get some chicken project. But they look at it.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Everyone likes chicken. But correct, man, I'm a philosophy, I'm
- 20:21Speaker 4: a religion, the home of the Whopper. But yeah, looking
- 20:26Speaker 4: at the looking at the app and it's like, oh yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 4: they're still got hot. Because I'm trying to determine that
- 20:31Speaker 4: we're in that sweet spot of like, do we have breakfast?
- 20:33Speaker 4: Do we had some lunchtime stuff? Saw hotcakes on the manual?
- 20:36Speaker 3: That could be interesting. I haven't had a hot cakes
- 20:38Speaker 3: for a while from Macas. I don't think it was
- 20:40Speaker 3: ever that huge a fan of it. That's just their
- 20:42Speaker 3: name for pancakes, wasn't it. Yeah, yeah, I never really
- 20:45Speaker 3: had them. I was always just muffin and it was
- 20:48Speaker 3: it was a bacon. That's bacon egg, isn't it. You
- 20:50Speaker 3: can get a bacon, sausage, m nothing, because it's not
- 20:54Speaker 3: just egg. You wouldn't I'm thinking before I had before
- 20:56Speaker 3: I went to my pork thing. But I used to
- 20:57Speaker 3: bacon egg, big muffin and a couple of hash browns.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Your poke thing? Yes, all right? M have I asked you.
- 21:04Speaker 3: My next question to you, just ask me one one.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Not'm sure.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Bart has a list of nicknames. One of them is
- 21:10Speaker 4: sergeant what list of nicknames?
- 21:13Speaker 3: What is his list of nicknames?
- 21:14Speaker 4: I think Dori has like a file on him.
- 21:19Speaker 1: You.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't pay attention to that.
- 21:23Speaker 4: You're gonna be hearing that a lot of this episode.
- 21:24Speaker 4: I didn't pay attention to the sergeant spit wod.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Okay, so I just when an episode is good, I'll
- 21:30Speaker 3: pay attention. I lost interest so many times throughout this
- 21:34Speaker 3: I was just like, how long at one? My final question,
- 21:41Speaker 3: I'm just going to find one m What is the
- 21:44Speaker 3: name of the place that Crusty goes to at the airport.
- 21:47Speaker 4: It is a joke that made me go, oh boy,
- 21:50Speaker 4: it's the Gaza strip club. The the rational slash funny
- 21:56Speaker 4: side of my brain is going, it's not a bad joke.
- 21:59Speaker 4: It's okay, word play the human the human being with
- 22:02Speaker 4: the souls going.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I don't know about that, altho. It's just I was
- 22:06Speaker 3: just reading notes here. Well, we'll get to it in
- 22:08Speaker 3: the review, because as you're saying, it does paint it
- 22:10Speaker 3: in a negative light. It's just like, while I go there,
- 22:14Speaker 3: there's this there's that there's none of this when saying, yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 3: let's go to Israel a war zone, take my family
- 22:20Speaker 3: to a wars that like man, no desert with no
- 22:26Speaker 3: casinos anyway, even saying all that's kind of like, I mean,
- 22:32Speaker 3: he's not wrong, but also the way he's saying is
- 22:34Speaker 3: going like ye was Kevin current Jewish was the right
- 22:39Speaker 3: of this episode, even Jewish. Let's have a look Kevin Curran,
- 22:42Speaker 3: not the cricketer the right. Wow, that's Kevin Karen. I'm
- 22:47Speaker 3: gonna have it a guess and say yes. Harvard College.
- 22:50Speaker 3: He was the editor of the Harvard Lampoon. You wrote
- 22:52Speaker 3: for the lamp you wrote for the Late Night of
- 22:54Speaker 3: David Letterman with Children Simpsons. Can you just hover over
- 22:59Speaker 3: his he was nominated? Oh no, sorry, he won three
- 23:02Speaker 3: em He's nominated for the war for greatst Story of
- 23:04Speaker 3: a Date. What do you want me to do? Sorry?
- 23:06Speaker 3: Over his partner's name? Where is that there? I thought
- 23:10Speaker 3: he's met his righty partner? Sorry, Alan Fielding.
- 23:13Speaker 4: His his partner was the creator of Bridger Joe.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Yes, Holy moly, so Kevin.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Clearly knows slab when it comes to the comedy.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Literally, was the editor of the Harvard lam Boon. He
- 23:26Speaker 3: was a Harvard man. I fortunately passed away due to
- 23:29Speaker 3: complications of cancer from cancer twenty sixteens or ten years ago.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Look rest in peace, Kevin. But holy moly, this episode.
- 23:35Speaker 3: What other episodes has he written?
- 23:38Speaker 2: Uh?
- 23:38Speaker 3: The Island of Doctor Hibbitts segment, eh, spelling as fast
- 23:41Speaker 3: as I can, my big fat geek wedding, don't fear
- 23:43Speaker 3: the roofer. Didn't mind that one? That was the who
- 23:47Speaker 3: was the Rammando? Yeah, sex pies the dar scrapes like.
- 23:51Speaker 3: He's done some okay episodes, but man, this one what
- 23:54Speaker 3: a stinkery. Kevin doesn't say anything but being jewey. She
- 24:00Speaker 3: was born west die Boy Tillywood born Harvart, Connecticut. I
- 24:04Speaker 3: don't know, maybe you feel like you get a Jewish writer.
- 24:07Speaker 3: But we did touch on this with with Jay Koganoh
- 24:09Speaker 3: he's like, no, you don't have to get a female
- 24:10Speaker 3: writer to write a female character. So if you just
- 24:12Speaker 3: if you know comedy, you know comedy. Hopefully he went
- 24:14Speaker 3: to Jewish people and said, is this accurate?
- 24:18Speaker 4: Here's the thing we know about the writers, I mean
- 24:20Speaker 4: and writing credits. Yeah, I mean his name on this,
- 24:23Speaker 4: but it's probably going to be a very collaborative effort,
- 24:25Speaker 4: and I mean having a multi talent like Sasha Baron
- 24:28Speaker 4: Cohen come on board as well. I imagine he's going
- 24:30Speaker 4: to want to add his two cents and.
- 24:32Speaker 3: It saves you a lot of time of writing when
- 24:33Speaker 3: he can say, hey, just improv or his two shekels.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Stone got to shout our time, starting with the incredible
- 24:40Speaker 3: Katie g with her one hundred dollar support. Thank you

- 25:34Speaker 4: They are rad the Max.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Yes, rad, haven't heard that word for a while. I'm
- 25:39Speaker 3: ring back rad or radical? Radical? Is rad man just rechid,
- 25:44Speaker 3: shouldn't it? So? This episode ovisinally aired March twenty eighth,
- 25:46Speaker 3: twenty ten the top three films at US box office
- 25:50Speaker 3: when his aired number three, Prince of Persia sounds of time.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Never heard of it? Sec? Have you not heard of this?
- 25:56Speaker 2: No?
- 25:56Speaker 3: Well, based on a video game, Prince of Persia, Okay.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Yeah, starring Jake Jillenhall as the titular Prince of Persia.
- 26:05Speaker 3: It's it's actually not bad. It's kind of fun. Okay.
- 26:08Speaker 4: I think they were thinking it's going to be this
- 26:10Speaker 4: massive sort of jonah yeah, okay, yeah, Jake got really
- 26:16Speaker 4: buffed for it, Jack, Jake, Jake got jacked.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Yeah. Number two was Sex and the City two. Oh yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 3: and number one was a movie which is really bad,
- 26:28Speaker 3: Shrek forever after. Yeah, look.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Take it behind the curtain of folks. We may be
- 26:35Speaker 4: talking about Shrek on the movie guard Marltlon Davis. Soon
- 26:38Speaker 4: a lot of the Shrek movies post for Shreek. They
- 26:41Speaker 4: a sort of fold into one.
- 26:42Speaker 3: For me, Number two is good. Number two is good.
- 26:45Speaker 3: That's where the Fairy Godmother's into it and introduced Puss
- 26:47Speaker 3: in boots, Puss some boots and stuff. Number three and four.
- 26:49Speaker 3: No one remembers three and four. It's one and because
- 26:52Speaker 3: everyone remembers going to see Shrek two because I was
- 26:54Speaker 3: so excited about the scene Shrek one. Yeah, so I
- 26:56Speaker 3: think everyone has memories of going to the cinema to
- 26:57Speaker 3: see Shrek two. No, and then you got Shrek the
- 26:59Speaker 3: third and Shrek Forever after. Yes, And this is the
- 27:02Speaker 3: one where it's Timberlaken and I think that's number three.
- 27:07Speaker 3: This is the one that has like rubbel Stiltskin or whatever.
- 27:09Speaker 4: And does he go back to being he gets he
- 27:11Speaker 4: gets yassified.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so no one knows who years and stuff. Yeah.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Yeah, so he looks like a big buff yeah, big
- 27:16Speaker 4: burly dude. He looks like Shrek, but not like not
- 27:19Speaker 4: like an ogre.
- 27:19Speaker 3: And the and Princess Fianna is like a warrior and
- 27:22Speaker 3: she doesn't remember him, and it's just like, oh.
- 27:24Speaker 4: Well, maybe they're going to make up for it with
- 27:26Speaker 4: Shrek far I hope.
- 27:27Speaker 3: So how I love that the guy went on Twitter
- 27:31Speaker 3: and he's like, so, guys, this is what's gonna happen
- 27:33Speaker 3: in Shrek five. And he's like, I can tell you
- 27:34Speaker 3: what the story is going to be after seeing the trailer,
- 27:36Speaker 3: and he does like this sixty second rundown and it's
- 27:38Speaker 3: like Shrek is going to be delayed for another eighteen months.
- 27:44Speaker 3: He just basically just broke down a story I've seen
- 27:46Speaker 3: that I have not seen, Like, okay, I've just watched
- 27:48Speaker 3: a Strek trailer. This is how the movie is going
- 27:50Speaker 3: to go to a t And it was like, within
- 27:51Speaker 3: like a couple of weeks, like Shrek has been delayed.
- 27:55Speaker 4: My boys at read Letter met It did much the
- 27:56Speaker 4: same thing with with Solo when it was a nance,
- 28:00Speaker 4: It's like they're gonna do this and they're gonna do that,
- 28:02Speaker 4: and look, I think that was obvious to a lot
- 28:03Speaker 4: of peoples like oh well, I mean they talked a
- 28:05Speaker 4: lot of about the obvious. Beach was like, well, he's
- 28:07Speaker 4: going to meet Lando and all this kind of stuff,
- 28:09Speaker 4: but they did sort of nails like, yeah, this is
- 28:11Speaker 4: how he's this is how he's going to meet Lando,
- 28:13Speaker 4: and this is how their relationship is going to go.
- 28:15Speaker 3: It's like, you actually know a lot of it. Yeah,
- 28:17Speaker 3: but sometimes predictable is okay? Oh yeah, absolutely. I usually
- 28:21Speaker 3: it means it makes the most sense.
- 28:22Speaker 4: That's the sweet spot. We've talked about this when we've
- 28:25Speaker 4: on the movie. I think when we talked about Projetail Mary.
- 28:28Speaker 4: You want something that's the same, same but different or
- 28:30Speaker 4: you know, different but familiar. It's like, oh, this is
- 28:33Speaker 4: hitting a lot of the same beats, but yeah, the
- 28:35Speaker 4: notes are slightly different. Well, you know, I feel in
- 28:39Speaker 4: safe hands, but also was expecting that.
- 28:41Speaker 3: It's like, you know, you know where it's going to
- 28:42Speaker 3: end up, but it's the journey to get there. Correct.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it sounds like something Shrek would say or maybe Donkey.
- 28:50Speaker 4: By the way, Prince of Persia and Sex and the
- 28:52Speaker 4: City two both have sort of deserts in them, not
- 28:54Speaker 4: unlike yeah, great story of a note. I won't say
- 28:57Speaker 4: it's an example of unified theory or full finger discount,
- 28:59Speaker 4: but you could make the case.
- 29:01Speaker 3: So Sex and the City have any jokes except not really.
- 29:04Speaker 4: No. I think Samantha probably won't to have a bunch
- 29:06Speaker 4: of sexy Charlot's probably uptight about something. Miranda will say something.
- 29:10Speaker 4: You know, Miranda will tell it like it is, and
- 29:12Speaker 4: I don't know, carry.
- 29:13Speaker 3: On with shoes. Sex and City is one of those
- 29:15Speaker 3: shows that were so big and then just disappear, disappear.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Well again, they they tried to do that revival show
- 29:22Speaker 3: without Samantha, and everyone's like, yeah, we watched it for
- 29:24Speaker 3: the Samantha sex pretty much.
- 29:26Speaker 4: I mean well and it was called and just like that,
- 29:29Speaker 4: wasn't it. Yeah, And I think it went for something
- 29:31Speaker 4: like three season really okay, well on two or three
- 29:34Speaker 4: some people must have been watching it. Yeah, but I
- 29:35Speaker 4: think a lot of people hate watching it, Okay because
- 29:39Speaker 4: I don't want to sound all terribly conservative, but it
- 29:42Speaker 4: sort of got too woke for its own good. There
- 29:45Speaker 4: was a character that everybody hated. Okay, but yeah, if
- 29:50Speaker 4: you know, you know so.
- 29:52Speaker 3: As I was saying. March twenty eighth, twenty ten. This
- 29:54Speaker 3: episode written by Kevin Caarrnis, mentioned and directed by Mike
- 29:57Speaker 3: Frank Poulsino. Cashgig is a repeat of the cash Gig
- 30:01Speaker 3: from in the name of the grandfather. Which one was
- 30:04Speaker 3: that I don't remember? Is the dog show or the
- 30:06Speaker 3: dog show? That's right, Yeah, that sort of starts off
- 30:08Speaker 3: on a bad note as well. It's just like I
- 30:10Speaker 3: don't budge, just cash gag.
- 30:12Speaker 4: I know. And also no board gag, no blackboard name.
- 30:16Speaker 4: They do have Ralph flying through the air sort of
- 30:18Speaker 4: holding onto.
- 30:18Speaker 3: A cut kite. It was, Yeah, they repeat those ones
- 30:21Speaker 3: a lot. Can we get showed, Bobin Sometimes we've got
- 30:23Speaker 3: the rough with the kite we have it's wicked witch. Yeah.
- 30:30Speaker 3: So Flanners is hosting Bible study at his house for
- 30:34Speaker 3: some reason. Jimbo's there just so they can have the
- 30:36Speaker 3: joke here where he says. We're stuck in the middle
- 30:38Speaker 3: of Mathew twenty three. He says, as a youth he
- 30:41Speaker 3: computer words, I think every couple of sentences, I'm out
- 30:43Speaker 3: of here, and he yells out scarpe, and I'm like,
- 30:45Speaker 3: talk about a data reference.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Holy well, speaking of data references. I mean we can
- 30:50Speaker 4: skip ahead just a little bit. But Homer is, yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 4: being a jerk and Netflix one, yeah, and interrupting the
- 30:56Speaker 4: interrupting the Bible.
- 30:57Speaker 3: We'll just get this best. What happens? Yees you almost
- 31:00Speaker 3: about to leave, and he says Skype, scop skype and
- 31:02Speaker 3: makes him stay. Then Homer interrupts by doing a new
- 31:04Speaker 3: slip and slide. I mean, who among us? Well as
- 31:07Speaker 3: if you're not going to did you have a slip
- 31:08Speaker 3: and slide when you were a kid once or twice?
- 31:11Speaker 3: One of the highlights of someone's when dad would pull
- 31:12Speaker 3: out the slip and slide? Yeah, and then it would
- 31:14Speaker 3: break it and you have to go get a new
- 31:15Speaker 3: or from kmart. Correct, yes, but then I actually, actually
- 31:20Speaker 3: this could have been one of my favorite moments. So
- 31:21Speaker 3: Hammer slides into the pool at the end and he
- 31:23Speaker 3: yells at hey, it floats. You know when you're a
- 31:26Speaker 3: kid and you first realize, oh, it floats in the
- 31:28Speaker 3: order at the winner. Yes, indeed. Then Flanners gets out
- 31:33Speaker 3: the emergency leaf and he goes out and he says
- 31:35Speaker 3: to Homer, you're the most infuriating.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Netflix DVD burglarizing.
- 31:40Speaker 3: He said, DVD. Just think there's Netflix burglaring. Both thought
- 31:44Speaker 3: it said Netflix DVD burglar DVDD Okay, yeah, okay, which.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Is you know, many of our listeners may not be
- 31:51Speaker 4: aware that before it was a streaming service, Netflix would
- 31:53Speaker 4: just delivered DVDs to your home.
- 31:55Speaker 3: I still remember when I first saw those booths popping up,
- 31:58Speaker 3: and I was like, as if you're going to get
- 32:00Speaker 3: it from here to the video shop? Yeah, And all
- 32:03Speaker 3: of a sudden, video show wasn't there anymore? Where do we
- 32:06Speaker 3: got movies from now? And when they asked the weather
- 32:07Speaker 3: was coming back, said they didn't known. Also, barbecue not
- 32:11Speaker 3: turning off in person? Correct, and then an our falls
- 32:14Speaker 3: onto barbecue and gets killed. Insiderated yes, and he thinks
- 32:18Speaker 3: he's not able to be fixed, you know, and Reverend
- 32:20Speaker 3: says you should be up for the challenge. Then we
- 32:22Speaker 3: get the grass bit with the random dance outside, which
- 32:24Speaker 3: isn't funny, isn't logical, It doesn't make any sense why
- 32:26Speaker 3: the kids are doing it with him? What the hell
- 32:27Speaker 3: is going on?
- 32:28Speaker 4: Prior to all that, however, Well, first of all, two
- 32:31Speaker 4: things about Homer's slip and sliding doing it naked? Yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 4: But then we see that he's got underpants on. When
- 32:37Speaker 4: did that happen?
- 32:38Speaker 3: Oh, he put clothes on, and he wouldn't do that,
- 32:40Speaker 3: would he? Yeah? Was he doing it?
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 32:44Speaker 3: Was he doing it naked? Try and find logical, you'd
- 32:48Speaker 3: just go crazy. Okay.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Secondly, it's clearly he is doing it naked later on
- 32:51Speaker 4: because he does a slide This is yeah, constructed as
- 32:55Speaker 4: a gag. It was like, it's got a it's got
- 32:58Speaker 4: an audio component, and it's got a visual component. Something
- 33:02Speaker 4: about Homer Simpson. I send a butt coming, Homer slips by,
- 33:05Speaker 4: Who comes the butt?
- 33:06Speaker 3: That's right?
- 33:07Speaker 4: Yeah, what I've written here. You know this is my
- 33:11Speaker 4: particular bug bear. It's like, I know we're all doing well.
- 33:13Speaker 4: We doing second screens in twenty ten, probably not.
- 33:17Speaker 3: M kids would have had their Yeah, not nice of
- 33:19Speaker 3: these stacks are now?
- 33:21Speaker 4: How scared of you that people are going to be
- 33:22Speaker 4: looking away from the screen for that particular moment and
- 33:25Speaker 4: not get the gag. Just like I sense a butt coming,
- 33:27Speaker 4: have Homer slide by with his butt sticking out. It's fine,
- 33:30Speaker 4: you don't have to hear who comes the butt? It
- 33:34Speaker 4: makes me disrespect.
- 33:36Speaker 3: You, Yeah me personally, it makes that show I'm talking
- 33:42Speaker 3: to you show. It made me. I'm not man, I'm
- 33:47Speaker 3: just disappointed. Would that joke that set up work if
- 33:50Speaker 3: Homer just went past? Do you think I think so?
- 33:53Speaker 4: I sense a butt coming?
- 33:55Speaker 3: Wh Yeah, okay, and just move on to the next one. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:59Speaker 3: if you us put a button on and have you
- 34:01Speaker 3: know little side eyes like did you see that? Yeah, yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 3: something like that. But we've touched on this before though,
- 34:10Speaker 3: where it was at the aquarium and Marge's running through
- 34:14Speaker 3: photos and she's saying what she's looking at? Yeah, and
- 34:17Speaker 3: it was similar, And I think we're at a point
- 34:20Speaker 3: where maybe there is that fear that people aren't watching,
- 34:22Speaker 3: but I don't think. I don't know. Twenty ten, do
- 34:26Speaker 3: everyone have the phone? I guess they did. Yeah, but
- 34:29Speaker 3: even just it wasn't a thing. Now it's known as
- 34:32Speaker 3: second second screen second screen syndrome, yeah, as opposed to
- 34:36Speaker 3: Jerusalem syndrome, where at that time I don't think it
- 34:39Speaker 3: was a thing yet. I don't think that were we
- 34:41Speaker 3: doing it. I don't think so. No, Okay, not to
- 34:46Speaker 3: the except we are now anyway. No, but yeah, you're right.
- 34:48Speaker 3: It was just so dumb down. But he's doing his
- 34:50Speaker 3: random dance with the grass rips off the grass and
- 34:54Speaker 3: why I don't know, I don't know. And then he
- 34:59Speaker 3: Planners goes there and invites them to be guests to
- 35:01Speaker 3: the Holy Zone, and Homer says, oh, I'll take my
- 35:04Speaker 3: kids to a war zone and desert with no casino
- 35:06Speaker 3: is a place of no pork. Then Margin's randomly agrees
- 35:09Speaker 3: and says, we insist on paying our own way. Why
- 35:13Speaker 3: why it's the most half asked reason to get them
- 35:17Speaker 3: to Jerusalem.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Ever, Yeah, there's a lot of stuff in here that
- 35:20Speaker 4: could be cut down by a number of seconds to
- 35:24Speaker 4: a number of minutes, and you could use those minutes
- 35:27Speaker 4: to sort of like give Marge some motivation as to
- 35:29Speaker 4: why she would want to take the family to the Holy.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Yes, well, look wants to fix Homer. So why the
- 35:35Speaker 3: family going?
- 35:36Speaker 2: Why what?
- 35:38Speaker 3: Marge's like, we're you gonna drop it was maybe even
- 35:40Speaker 3: in this episode, I didn't see it at all. Maybe
- 35:43Speaker 3: she was just there but never acknowledged. I don't remember
- 35:46Speaker 3: seeing her. I recall it either. But the thing is, though,
- 35:49Speaker 3: have Homer go there and have maybe Flanders like maybe
- 35:52Speaker 3: live out something to having go let's go there and
- 35:55Speaker 3: it gets and he's like, oh, all the good stuff
- 35:57Speaker 3: or whatever, but like it's just him going, yeah, yeah,
- 36:00Speaker 3: I'm going to come, Bud, just like you know what,
- 36:01Speaker 3: let's go to Let's take the family, let's pay our
- 36:03Speaker 3: way go to Jerusalem. That'll fix your Homer maybe.
- 36:06Speaker 4: And this could introduce a bit of storytelling complexity into it.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Have ned sort of stretched the truth or tell some
- 36:14Speaker 4: very little white lies about what might attract Homer to Jerusale.
- 36:18Speaker 3: That's what I'm trying to get at.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's like, well, I's got this, this, this,
- 36:22Speaker 4: and this.
- 36:23Speaker 3: What Really I didn't know that you could have even
- 36:25Speaker 3: just said hotel has a breakfast buffet.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Sold something stupid like that. And actually that's a great gag.
- 36:32Speaker 4: You have him say it's got this. It's got all
- 36:34Speaker 4: the stuff you've read about in the Bible or heard
- 36:36Speaker 4: about through you know, Bible stories or whatever from the
- 36:38Speaker 4: greatest story ever told, or you know, but it's also
- 36:41Speaker 4: got this, this, and this. There's a lot to love
- 36:43Speaker 4: about modern Jerusalem. I was like, no, no, I don't know.
- 36:46Speaker 4: I think I'd rather go to you know, one of
- 36:47Speaker 4: the like in the hotel it's got breakfast And cut
- 36:51Speaker 4: to them on a plane. Yes, cut to the man
- 36:53Speaker 4: a plane.
- 36:55Speaker 3: We faxed that it's not hard.
- 36:58Speaker 4: Kevin Gouren is looking down for him. We go, well
- 37:00Speaker 4: down my sounds.
- 37:03Speaker 3: We need to build a time machine, go back and
- 37:07Speaker 3: fix these episodes. Maybe that's the speck episode.
- 37:10Speaker 4: We could write of The Simpsons. Is people watching it
- 37:15Speaker 4: in twenty twenty something building a time machine and going
- 37:18Speaker 4: back to the nineteen nineties and like bum rutching.
- 37:20Speaker 3: The Simpsons writers rooms, like, we could do this instead.
- 37:23Speaker 3: That can be like a back to the future tres
- 37:25Speaker 3: of Horror segment.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Yeah, well yeah, do it like a hot tub time
- 37:27Speaker 4: machine deal.
- 37:29Speaker 3: How great? But then even still, she says, put on pants,
- 37:33Speaker 3: and then this is like the man he hates pants.
- 37:35Speaker 3: I'm like, there's not a line for Lisa. No, there's
- 37:39Speaker 3: a Bart line, not a Lisa line. What would Lisa say? No, No, Hugh. Anyway,
- 37:45Speaker 3: they arrive, I didn't mind a plane riding over the
- 37:47Speaker 3: glass as they arrive. Then Homer says, I am that
- 37:52Speaker 3: the like Kazan as good as American pancakes. That's why
- 37:55Speaker 3: they're holding him hostage at the airport, tied up with guns,
- 37:59Speaker 3: and eventually says they are or something with apples. He's like, a,
- 38:06Speaker 3: I don't.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Thin I've ever said this in the six years I've
- 38:10Speaker 4: been off.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just you said a few times. I thought it,
- 38:15Speaker 3: but he shouldn't say it. Then Crusty's just randomly there too,
- 38:18Speaker 3: because we have to fit the Jewish character in there.
- 38:20Speaker 3: He says he's here to sort of, you know, you
- 38:22Speaker 3: just want to end up in house. He's going there
- 38:23Speaker 3: to sort of beg forgiveness and whatnot, and then he
- 38:26Speaker 3: finds out that there is no hell, so he goes
- 38:28Speaker 3: to the Gaza strip club. I think that's the end
- 38:30Speaker 3: of Crusty, But I think we may see him once.
- 38:32Speaker 3: I think we just see him in the back notes
- 38:34Speaker 3: or whatever. Anyway, and they show the various stores Bagel
- 38:38Speaker 3: Boy instead of Lard Ladd with the Whaling Ward, I
- 38:40Speaker 3: think that's the hotel they're staying at, the Whaling Whaling
- 38:42Speaker 3: Waldorf Whaling wardof Yeah. Then there's a violin playing, and
- 38:47Speaker 3: it turns out it's the gutter cleaner just playing a violin.
- 38:49Speaker 3: I think it's the Fiddler on the roof because it's
- 38:51Speaker 3: actually the guy who's cleaning the outhers. You had to
- 38:53Speaker 3: be cleaning the guthers. Then the tour guide thinks he
- 38:56Speaker 3: sounds like Hugh Grant, because so does that then play
- 39:00Speaker 3: the fact that he's British. I think so, yeah, And
- 39:02Speaker 3: he's got a bit of a British twang to his accent.
- 39:05Speaker 3: He doesn't, he doesn't. He's playing out the full blowing accent.
- 39:08Speaker 3: I don't know. My name is Jacob.
- 39:11Speaker 6: You may notice I speak the English with a slight accent.
- 39:14Speaker 7: This is because, as you probably guessed, I used to
- 39:17Speaker 7: live in London, and that is why I sound like
- 39:20Speaker 7: you grant. Come on, let's go. We got a lot
- 39:22Speaker 7: of holy sides to say. Yalla, we finish early. We
- 39:25Speaker 7: go to jewelry, strong by my cousin. No talk is true,
- 39:30Speaker 7: great prices, You got to haggle advice.
- 39:32Speaker 3: They don't respect you. Come on, let's go. Do you
- 39:34Speaker 3: have any safety tips?
- 39:36Speaker 6: What are you're talking about? Israeli is the safest country
- 39:39Speaker 6: in the world. The only danger is the iteration drink water,
- 39:43Speaker 6: don't die. It looks bad on me. Come out, shut
- 39:45Speaker 6: your face, let's go.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Let's says here.
- 39:48Speaker 7: Brochure, brochure?
- 39:50Speaker 3: Who you brochure?
- 39:52Speaker 6: The same schmoke a new testament.
- 39:54Speaker 3: I can't talk to you.
- 39:55Speaker 7: You talk to my niece to read, talk to the stupids.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Just keep it going and going. And I was like,
- 40:02Speaker 3: when are we getting to the fireworks fattery? Fireworks factory?
- 40:06Speaker 3: Being the joke, I think the joke was meant to
- 40:09Speaker 3: be the way he said stuff.
- 40:12Speaker 4: This guy's talking fast, embodying a lot of stereotypes being
- 40:16Speaker 4: very pushy. Yeah, the tool guide from hell.
- 40:18Speaker 3: He mentions the old city and fantasy exciting. That's where
- 40:21Speaker 3: BC turned into a C And Homo says, we've got
- 40:24Speaker 3: plenty of ad, sorry ad. And Homer wants the breakfast buffet,
- 40:28Speaker 3: so I put it to a vote and Flanders loses,
- 40:30Speaker 3: even the reverend's big fan of the breakfast buffet. Now
- 40:33Speaker 3: they're at King David's tomb.
- 40:37Speaker 6: Everybody please shut her face. Here we go, this sacred
- 40:40Speaker 6: spot on Mounsey On is King David's tomb? Also will
- 40:43Speaker 6: your Jesus who was a native born Israeli by the way,
- 40:46Speaker 6: sand the circumcise, perfect English accent, the whole deal. This
- 40:50Speaker 6: is where he had his last supper before they took
- 40:53Speaker 6: him away.
- 40:54Speaker 3: And haven't him up on that course? Hey, you you're
- 40:58Speaker 3: not part of the group. Not listening? What is is it?
- 41:00Speaker 7: Reels free country man.
- 41:07Speaker 3: Avallet No.
- 41:14Speaker 7: That I think it, But okay, that's it because of him,
- 41:21Speaker 7: no Armenian quota, forget it, it's gone.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Oh thanks to mister listen for free. So is he
- 41:28Speaker 3: just saying actual profanities in Hebrews? No idea. It goes
- 41:31Speaker 3: on and on and on and on and just no payoff.
- 41:38Speaker 3: It's just yeah, terrible flanners and praise for Homer, and
- 41:43Speaker 3: by doing so, he's interfering with bart trying to break
- 41:45Speaker 3: the record for the longest Is it the handstand hands?
- 41:48Speaker 3: But walking on your hand handstand? Is there is there
- 41:50Speaker 3: a term for that? I wrote handstand walk. I think
- 41:52Speaker 3: that's all it is, walking on your hands? Maybe yeah?
- 41:55Speaker 3: He Homan then says he's American tourist. He's here to
- 41:58Speaker 3: see the sites. Try the goofy food and bread. Shekels
- 42:00Speaker 3: with Carolyn the Carolina Panthers credit card. Don't get me started.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Why Carolina Panthers? About the Carolina Panthers, Well, since wonder.
- 42:09Speaker 4: When you say keep going? And they joked about it twice.
- 42:12Speaker 4: But even then that's too too many. But I have
- 42:15Speaker 4: no idea Homer again, all due respect to our man
- 42:20Speaker 4: Kevin Curran. Maybe they're his team, I don't know.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Who knows. Then he says he'll turn off his camera.
- 42:28Speaker 3: This is the point where I went. This is actually
- 42:30Speaker 3: the point where I said I'm done. So he says,
- 42:32Speaker 3: to have a turn off your camera. Harmas says, I'll
- 42:34Speaker 3: only do it if you say it in a Dracula voice.
- 42:37Speaker 3: So then he does he goes Blair and then that's
- 42:41Speaker 3: going straight to stupid Flanders dot Org. I was like,
- 42:44Speaker 3: this is the lamest script. So bad, so bad, Sorry,
- 42:50Speaker 3: it's so so bad. Homer then agrees to pray, but
- 42:55Speaker 3: he's already got But but then as they're praying, you
- 42:57Speaker 3: hear that blah yeah, and then and it's like stop
- 43:00Speaker 3: playing what I just recorded? Was like, no, it's my
- 43:02Speaker 3: ring tone. I'm like, how how is it his ring tone?
- 43:06Speaker 3: Now we're in the same ten seconds? What nothing, no
- 43:11Speaker 3: time to transpire it.
- 43:12Speaker 4: It's a shame. It's a shame o. Cameras are not on.
- 43:15Speaker 4: You need to see Dando's hands when he's doing this.
- 43:18Speaker 4: It's remarkable. They're just moving around. It's a independent of
- 43:21Speaker 4: his independent of his body. But can you explain the
- 43:25Speaker 4: logit there? Though I cannot. I can I immediately.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Start praying and then what fan has just recorded as
- 43:30Speaker 3: then yeah, do we have the technology now? But it
- 43:33Speaker 3: wasn't filming on the camera. He was taking photos, wasn't
- 43:35Speaker 3: he No, he's filming but no, he had a hand
- 43:39Speaker 3: came ye. But then somehow it's gone from that video
- 43:41Speaker 3: camera to Homer's phone as a ring tone.
- 43:43Speaker 4: I don't think Wi Fi was that blue at that
- 43:45Speaker 4: sta bluetooth or whatever.
- 43:46Speaker 3: I don't think you do it now.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Still, I don't think you can. If one was to
- 43:52Speaker 4: be very generous, you could say, Okay, this is just
- 43:56Speaker 4: playing on the traditional Homer and Ned odd couple dynamic.
- 44:00Speaker 4: They rub each other the wrong way, or at least
- 44:02Speaker 4: Homer rubs Ned the wrong way. But yeah, he's just
- 44:06Speaker 4: it's executed poorly.
- 44:09Speaker 3: But it's just the logic of how has no one
- 44:11Speaker 3: in the writer's room gone? But how is it his
- 44:13Speaker 3: ring tone yet? And why was that? Even sounds funny?
- 44:18Speaker 3: Because he gets right because he orders food, doesn't he
- 44:20Speaker 3: somebod he does?
- 44:22Speaker 4: Oh yeah, he gets ordered like a delivery to the
- 44:24Speaker 4: to the tomb.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Yeah she cares. We're now at the whaling Wall, and
- 44:28Speaker 3: this is where we see Krusty again and he's asking
- 44:31Speaker 3: for the fix of the parking tickets.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Yes, now, under normal circumstances, I'll be writing these downs
- 44:37Speaker 4: like trivia question times like NA checked out.
- 44:40Speaker 3: And I am checked out.
- 44:41Speaker 4: But then and Bart's being a jerk off at the
- 44:44Speaker 4: whaling Wall.
- 44:44Speaker 3: And he's reading all the wishes and the prayers and
- 44:47Speaker 3: he's like not happening, not happening. Not happening then, but
- 44:51Speaker 3: Homos is, what are you doing is I'm reading all
- 44:52Speaker 3: everybody's prayers and I'm doing what God does, reading prayers
- 44:55Speaker 3: and ignoring them.
- 44:57Speaker 4: So Edgy sticking that religion.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Then he finds home and mocks him, and then apparently
- 45:04Speaker 3: Bart's wish was to give Dad another heart attack. Sure,
- 45:10Speaker 3: but then skates off and the tour guys sash just
- 45:13Speaker 3: out spite him, like the first child of Egypt, and
- 45:16Speaker 3: then he says, dead baby, dead baby, pass over, dead baby.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Well think that's you.
- 45:19Speaker 4: Know, King Herod getting all the firstborn boys executed.
- 45:25Speaker 3: We heard that story. I don't really want to if
- 45:27Speaker 3: that's the hand of it.
- 45:28Speaker 4: It's pretty nasty.
- 45:30Speaker 3: King Herod. If he wanted to make sure he was still.
- 45:31Speaker 4: There he heard there was like, yeah, oh shit, this
- 45:35Speaker 4: is how And he was like, well, there's a new
- 45:39Speaker 4: little baby Messiah boy out there. Kill all the firstborn,
- 45:42Speaker 4: kill all the baby boys.
- 45:44Speaker 3: And yeah, apparently the ones that that's where.
- 45:49Speaker 4: Passover comes from. Apparently okay, and which is delightful. Yeah,
- 45:53Speaker 4: this episode apparently aired on Passover.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Okay. But then Dorich chases after him and then she
- 45:58Speaker 3: beats him up and they have a little yeah, they
- 46:01Speaker 3: have like when was this twenty ten?
- 46:03Speaker 4: This even this feels out of time because I mean
- 46:05Speaker 4: there was everything that post Matrix thing where everyone was
- 46:08Speaker 4: sort of doing like current vites, you know, and it
- 46:12Speaker 4: was zoomed up and bullet timed and all that.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Charlie the Charlie Angels movies were really big on that.
- 46:16Speaker 3: They were we're talking about The og Ones with Cameron
- 46:19Speaker 3: Diaz and Drew Barrymore. Speaking of Cameron Diaz, guess what
- 46:21Speaker 3: film the kids wanted to watch again yesterday? Was it
- 46:23Speaker 3: The Mask? What's The Mask? Of course that movie is
- 46:27Speaker 3: off its head, mate, absolutely off its head. It goes
- 46:31Speaker 3: from like this random scene till all of a sudden
- 46:33Speaker 3: he gets arrested and then his daddy with police officers
- 46:36Speaker 3: in the street and shit, and I'm like, and the
- 46:37Speaker 3: kids are just in awe. I'm like, what the hell
- 46:40Speaker 3: is going on? Pretty well, but it's the perfect script
- 46:43Speaker 3: for Jim Carrey. Oh absolutely yeah, and.
- 46:48Speaker 4: This is just post I think it's his first thing
- 46:50Speaker 4: after ace Ventura.
- 46:52Speaker 3: But I mean.
- 46:54Speaker 4: They were all the same year. Yeah, but I mean.
- 46:56Speaker 3: It was pretty that's a crazy for pretty big year. Yeah,
- 46:59Speaker 3: But I mean I don't think they knew ace Ventura
- 47:01Speaker 3: was going to hit as big as it did.
- 47:02Speaker 4: They just realized, oh, we got lightning on a bottle
- 47:04Speaker 4: with carry here.
- 47:05Speaker 3: So yeah, well, they didn't want it originally and the
- 47:07Speaker 3: director was like, oh was the right of director? I
- 47:09Speaker 3: think the director was like, no, I want this guy.
- 47:12Speaker 3: He is perfect. Yeah. I think The Mask was the
- 47:14Speaker 3: first film he filmed, wasn't it, because it talks about
- 47:17Speaker 3: in the documentary how he saw him on in living
- 47:20Speaker 3: color and he's like, that's the guy we want.
- 47:22Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, maybe, yeah, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure
- 47:26Speaker 4: that ace Ventura was released first, then The Mask, then
- 47:29Speaker 4: Dumb and Dumber. Everyone was like, holy shit.
- 47:30Speaker 3: This guy. I don't think anyone's going to have a
- 47:32Speaker 3: year like that again. Can you recall any other year
- 47:34Speaker 3: where someone's had three movies like that? No, it was
- 47:38Speaker 3: similar acting stars, but three completely different movies. Oh sure, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 3: good year nine ninety four four Jim Carrey. But this
- 47:46Speaker 3: was a good time for bart. He gets beaten up
- 47:48Speaker 3: and apparently her being the tour guys security. Is her
- 47:51Speaker 3: doing a military service?
- 47:52Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 47:52Speaker 3: So is she a child? I don't know.
- 47:55Speaker 4: She a little person, not a little person, but you know,
- 47:57Speaker 4: I think I was a teenager. Maybe maybe, I don't know.
- 48:00Speaker 4: He's like Bart's age.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Yeah. Now at the Church of Holy Seprucer, I think
- 48:07Speaker 3: for the Church of Holy Soprica, and he tells them
- 48:09Speaker 3: all to throw their lemon ice. I guess that's a
- 48:11Speaker 3: food people like to have, or a tasty treat people.
- 48:13Speaker 3: I don't think so, yeah, just frozen lemonade.
- 48:17Speaker 4: I think there's an incredibly popular Israeli movie called Lemon Popsicle,
- 48:22Speaker 4: which then popsicle, yes, which is basically a teen sex comedy,
- 48:27Speaker 4: very raunchy comedies used to be raunchy, oh yeah, but
- 48:31Speaker 4: apparently like one of the most popular Israeli moviees they've
- 48:34Speaker 4: ever made.
- 48:34Speaker 3: And I think they made a whole series of them,
- 48:36Speaker 3: like their American Pie kind of yeah, yeah, of American Pie.
- 48:40Speaker 3: It's lemon popsicle correct, Yes, what does he do with
- 48:43Speaker 3: the lemon popsicle? She do with it? Oh?
- 48:46Speaker 4: In all, I've only ever seen clips of it.
- 48:50Speaker 3: The good bit. It's a whole there's.
- 48:52Speaker 4: A whole thing I could go into, but we don't
- 48:54Speaker 4: have time.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Guys been going on Google lemon popsicle sex scenes, screwing
- 48:59Speaker 3: up my old rhythm. But Flanners thanks Jesus for the
- 49:03Speaker 3: for the challenge of God, the challenge of Homer Simpson
- 49:05Speaker 3: off for the challenge of trying to fix home. Okay, yeah,
- 49:08Speaker 3: then Homers asleep on the tomb. I'll watched his visual.
- 49:11Speaker 3: I was like, oh, go. Then then Homa's asleep there
- 49:14Speaker 3: and he confuses Jesus with porky pig, and then Flanners
- 49:18Speaker 3: just loses it and he says, I'm going to delete
- 49:21Speaker 3: all the photos because you've been here all this time,
- 49:23Speaker 3: take photos of funny soda pops. Then he deletes them,
- 49:26Speaker 3: and Homer says, that's your camera. So Flanners smashes the
- 49:28Speaker 3: camera and gets banned from the church forever. I must
- 49:30Speaker 3: have been.
- 49:31Speaker 4: That's one moment. It was kind of like, this is
- 49:32Speaker 4: a potentially very powerful moment. I mean, not an all
- 49:36Speaker 4: time or anything like that, but I mean it's like
- 49:39Speaker 4: Ned has come to this land, means a great deal
- 49:41Speaker 4: to him, clearly, and he's been true. He's been cast out.
- 49:44Speaker 3: Essentially.
- 49:44Speaker 4: It's like, well, that's that kind of suck. You know,
- 49:47Speaker 4: it's a good story. But he does no back reference
- 49:49Speaker 4: to it.
- 49:49Speaker 3: No, not really, He's just apparently banned for life.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Now do you know why I'm a Christian.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Your parents made you.
- 49:56Speaker 1: It's because I believe every soul has the possibility of salvation.
- 50:00Speaker 1: At least I thought so till now, Homer Simpson, you
- 50:05Speaker 1: are not worth saving?
- 50:07Speaker 2: What but I said, we'd be neighbors in heaven. Goofing
- 50:10Speaker 2: and all the new dead people.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Not worth saving?
- 50:15Speaker 3: And he thinks he's run up into the desert. So
- 50:17Speaker 3: he finds a sandhorse the car of the desert and
- 50:19Speaker 3: goes to look for Flanders on a camel in the desert.
- 50:21Speaker 3: And then Flanders is actually going to get some lukewarm
- 50:24Speaker 3: water from the tea shop, and now he's gone. He says,
- 50:27Speaker 3: it's the sandstorm. So he goes to watch a movie
- 50:28Speaker 3: which was called the Reformers Reformers, which is just the
- 50:31Speaker 3: Jewish version of Transformers correct yes, which were big at
- 50:33Speaker 3: the time.
- 50:34Speaker 4: They cannot transform the on the Sabbath side. They just
- 50:37Speaker 4: power down and read the Torah.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Homer falls off the camel and then he has sand
- 50:41Speaker 3: and his shoes. Annoyed by this, then the camel bales,
- 50:45Speaker 3: and then time has elapsed and he is now singing
- 50:49Speaker 3: a song about being horny and thirsty, and he does it.
- 50:51Speaker 4: He is doing this to the tune of the theme
- 50:53Speaker 4: of Lawrence of Arabia.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Yes, Then he finds the dead sea and it's
- 50:58Speaker 3: too salty, so he adds salt. What's even that logic?
- 51:01Speaker 3: Is even too done for home? Yes? Too salty? Maybe
- 51:04Speaker 3: some salt will fix this? What what? What are we doing?
- 51:10Speaker 3: What are we doing here? Then the vegetables come down,
- 51:13Speaker 3: the vegetables known as well.
- 51:14Speaker 4: These are the characters from a veggie tails yeah movie
- 51:17Speaker 4: or just veggietails.
- 51:18Speaker 3: I don't know too much about vegetails now. It started
- 51:21Speaker 3: nineteen ninety three according to the wiki page, and the
- 51:24Speaker 3: characters are Bob the Tomato and Larry the Q comeback.
- 51:27Speaker 3: And there was a third one here, wasn't there? Yeah? Anyway,
- 51:31Speaker 3: but they've they've mentioned these guys on The Simpsons before.
- 51:34Speaker 3: But I'm pretty sure they were like Claymation. It was
- 51:37Speaker 3: because the planners were watching on TV and we had
- 51:40Speaker 3: those the Raisins as well, California.
- 51:43Speaker 4: Well they were they were always. Yeah, I was selling ship,
- 51:47Speaker 4: this was selling selling Christianity to the kids.
- 51:49Speaker 3: It was indeed, yes, Piogle Carroc Tomatoes what maybe it
- 51:52Speaker 3: must have been a character as well, but Lisa was
- 51:55Speaker 3: going to marry possibly, Yeah, but Homany now bluees he's
- 51:57Speaker 3: been chosen. He's a chosen one. My agdress's him and
- 52:00Speaker 3: now Hma thinks, yeah, I am the Messiah. I don't
- 52:03Speaker 3: know this.
- 52:03Speaker 4: This joke sort of requires a bit of knowledge of
- 52:06Speaker 4: veggie tails, and I was aware of it, but yeah,
- 52:09Speaker 4: not sort of a nut. But as we always know,
- 52:12Speaker 4: there's nothing funnier than a joke you have to explain.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Except you've got on a teminent rant about them explaining
- 52:17Speaker 3: a joke.
- 52:18Speaker 4: Well, career, become a patron. But I imagine there's got
- 52:25Speaker 4: a slade in the writer's room, as like Homer has
- 52:29Speaker 4: a vision in the desert with that prompts him to
- 52:31Speaker 4: become the Messiah. What's the vision veggietails.
- 52:33Speaker 3: It's like you.
- 52:35Speaker 4: Gotta go, eh, yeah, God it works.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Maybe I don't know, but we're back at the hotel
- 52:42Speaker 3: and he says, look upon me and shudder, and he said,
- 52:45Speaker 3: we already do that, And Hibbitt says he is suffering
- 52:48Speaker 3: from Jerusalem syndrome. At Leasta explains it. It's a name
- 52:51Speaker 3: given to religious delusions or psychoses that occur when people
- 52:54Speaker 3: visit Jerusalem. And then they realize that Homer has bailed.
- 52:57Speaker 3: He's jumped out the window and he's still sitting to
- 52:59Speaker 3: the side of the building. Apparently because Lista suggests they
- 53:01Speaker 3: go to the DMO with the rock, Hober jumps into
- 53:03Speaker 3: a carful of pre owned How he pronounce his word, yummickers, yummachers. Okay,
- 53:08Speaker 3: little caps. Yes. Then the too guy goes on another
- 53:11Speaker 3: rant and talk about genocide. You guys don't know what
- 53:13Speaker 3: it's like if you haven't lived through a genocide. And
- 53:15Speaker 3: you'd be angry too if you live through a genocide.
- 53:17Speaker 3: And ah, and that's the end of him. Yeah, this
- 53:20Speaker 3: goes on another big rant. Yeah, very rant Field episode,
- 53:23Speaker 3: this one home that is now inside, and he says
- 53:26Speaker 3: he's got a new faith.
- 53:27Speaker 5: No one, you shall be called Chris mu juice because
- 53:33Speaker 5: when you get down to it.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Are not religions the same. They tell you what to eat,
- 53:39Speaker 2: when to prey.
- 53:40Speaker 5: Oh, it's imperfect clay that we call man can mold
- 53:43Speaker 5: itself to resemble the divine, but we can never attain
- 53:47Speaker 5: that ultimate grace. While there is hatred in our hearts
- 53:50Speaker 5: for each other.
- 53:51Speaker 4: I did it.
- 53:52Speaker 6: I reached team.
- 53:53Speaker 5: Celebrate your commonality. Some of us don't eat pork. Some
- 53:57Speaker 5: of us don't eat jellyfish.
- 54:00Speaker 2: All of us love chicken.
- 54:03Speaker 3: You can see in a soup, you can boil it.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Spread the word peace and chicken.
- 54:13Speaker 3: And then Agnes interrupts and says, no, he's not the Messiah.
- 54:15Speaker 3: I'm the Messiah. And now Doctorhibbitt thinks that he's the Messiah.
- 54:19Speaker 3: And then it cuts to them on the plane home
- 54:20Speaker 3: and the kids are fighting for a seat, and Lisa
- 54:23Speaker 3: now knows the what was the Jewish or the Israeli mma?
- 54:27Speaker 3: What's it called? Sorry krav maga. Yes, she beats up
- 54:30Speaker 3: Bart for his seat. Homer says, the plan is that
- 54:32Speaker 3: you finally go through to me, and he offers to
- 54:34Speaker 3: buy him a twelve dollars turkey sandwich. I think and
- 54:37Speaker 3: at Greg Norman patter and it ends with him saying
- 54:39Speaker 3: I think you can get a better deal from a
- 54:40Speaker 3: mall at home, and and Homer says, there's mauls on
- 54:44Speaker 3: land and that's the end. I just I'm baffling. Twenty
- 54:50Speaker 3: two minutes of The Simpsons. Yes, it was the end
- 54:52Speaker 3: of my tolerance for this episode. Yeah, no good. What
- 54:56Speaker 3: do we learn, Bomber? What did I learn in this episode?
- 55:01Speaker 3: What did I learn? I know? If I learned anything?
- 55:02Speaker 3: In this episode.
- 55:03Speaker 4: But I'll tell you what I've just learned from typing
- 55:05Speaker 4: Jerusalem Syndrome into Google. It's a unique cluster of religiously
- 55:10Speaker 4: themed mental phenomena and acute psychotic episodes triggered by a
- 55:13Speaker 4: visit to the Holy City of Jerusalem. It's a real thing.
- 55:16Speaker 4: Apparently it has three subtypes. Would you like to know
- 55:19Speaker 4: about them?
- 55:19Speaker 3: I do.
- 55:20Speaker 4: Type one pre existing illness, You've already got a severe
- 55:22Speaker 4: psychiatric disorder before you arrive in Jerusalem, and usually travel
- 55:25Speaker 4: to the city to fulfill a specific divine or delusional missing.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Type two is you may not have a full blown psychosis,
- 55:32Speaker 4: but you do have extreme obsessive fixations or personality disorders.
- 55:36Speaker 4: And type three the quote unquote pure form tourists with
- 55:40Speaker 4: entirely healthy psychological backgrounds, no prior history of mental illness.
- 55:44Speaker 4: A show of in the Holy City. The overwhelming atmosphere
- 55:46Speaker 4: of the place is believed to trigger the Suthern psychosis.
- 55:49Speaker 4: So it's LEGiT's well, I don't know if it's legit,
- 55:52Speaker 4: but it is something that happens.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Okay, So I guess that's somewhat of a logical out. Yeah,
- 55:57Speaker 3: But the problem is they ended with Homer saying you've
- 55:59Speaker 3: got through to me. Now, I'm no, we know that
- 56:03Speaker 3: that's not true. It's not true. Yeah, just I don't know.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Stop trying.
- 56:08Speaker 4: You cannot throw that hal Mary passed at the end
- 56:10Speaker 4: and try to save the home and Ned relationship or
- 56:14Speaker 4: give them Homer or Ned any form of redemption. It's
- 56:18Speaker 4: not deserved, it's not earned.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Oh.
- 56:21Speaker 4: By the way, though, one of the symptoms of Jerusalem
- 56:23Speaker 4: syndrome is apparently that you don't makeshift white gowns often
- 56:29Speaker 4: torn from hotel bed sheets to signify purity and holiness.
- 56:32Speaker 3: So they got that bit right. They did good for them.
- 56:35Speaker 3: How's that I learned that there's nothing funnier then that
- 56:40Speaker 3: is actually pretty fud. I love the recular's catchphrases. From
- 56:47Speaker 3: this day forward, your names will be It is time
- 56:50Speaker 3: for the Guy Davis new Nan Championship for the greatest

- 57:23Speaker 4: Hughsy Brian Hughes and he I don't know why he
- 57:27Speaker 4: use his first points for the season.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Possibly not too sure. I'm looking through the leader can't
- 57:30Speaker 3: see his name, but anyway, what on Brian Hughes, You're
- 57:32Speaker 3: in the game now, Hughsy? Yes.
- 57:34Speaker 4: Two points goes to do Vne intervention.

- 57:41Speaker 3: pointers there, Well on Briggs, you're getting closer now to
- 57:44Speaker 3: Philip J. Hughsy Briggsy and one who could be next
- 57:47Speaker 3: is now on thirteen points.
- 57:48Speaker 4: Three points goes to Holier than.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Thee cover Kyle with the three points even he's getting
- 57:54Speaker 3: closer to Philip J. Horden. What's your bag, Philip, it's
- 57:57Speaker 3: pucker in a bit now on Philip J. We got
- 58:00Speaker 3: the puck up, but Philip J. Hawgens still in first
- 58:02Speaker 3: position though on twenty two points now outright second clever
- 58:05Speaker 3: Kyle on fourteen and outright third, we have Nathan Briggs
