  This isn't doing it for me. I'm going to switch to the Mage

  so I did that. I got the Mage levelled from 60
• 1:08
  to 70 in a day and a half. I don't ask me how I did that.

  I don't remember. I just went into a catatonic

  State and just tunneled and got 270 as quickly as I could and

  then started running Dungeons. And yeah and yeah, I just

  absolutely love Arcane Mage for the record and I'm having a

  blast with it. I'm loving dragon writing and I

  have completed every single, every single one of the time

  trials on Gold All The Way. Way.

  there, but I kind of want to know a little bit about you.

  So if you guys could take a little bit of time, just tell us

  about yourself, your role a traitor IO and maybe how you You

  got into this wonderful game of ours, sure, I guess I will go
• 3:18
  first. So, you know, I've been playing
• 3:22
  the game since vanilla I have been.
• 3:26
  I never really took a break. I've basically been writing
• 3:30
  since the beginning during cataclysm was, the only
• 3:32
  expansion I did not touch a single raid, I was a PVP
• 3:36
  exclusive player and then decided that is not the game for
• 3:41
  me and went back to being a Raider and And I have just been
• 3:46
  doing that ever since I did read kind of, you know, quote
• 3:49
  unquote, there's the air quotes here, top level you know, like
• 3:53
  US Chop 30-ish time kind of thing was kind of the top I got
• 3:56
  to, but eventually school got in the way.
• 3:58
  And I could not put in the kind of time anymore, my role at
• 4:03
  radar I/O. So I am the general manager of
• 4:05
  raider. I, oh, I've been here for just
• 4:07
  over two years got into it and kind of a really weird
• 4:11
  convoluted career path. I was actually a practicing
• 4:14
  lawyer. Seven years and just coming up
• 4:17
  to kind of mid 2019, end of 2019.
• 4:21
  I just decided this was not the career for me.
• 4:23
  I put in 10 years of school and, you know, a bunch of money into
• 4:26
  it. But decided, nope.
• 4:27
  The this is where we call it quits.
• 4:29
  And then, you know, decided to go find some other work and then
• 4:33
  covid hit and suddenly there are there are no, you know, jobs to
• 4:37
  go out and get an interview for. So, I basically spent most of
• 4:40
  2018, just playing a lot of Warcraft, dipped, My toe into
• 4:45
  the MDI pool and my career. As a professional gamer, I was
• 4:51
  on broadcast for one day came in last, it was wonderful.
• 4:55
  So, but that was the angry toast days during the MV.
• 4:59
  I did a lot of that. And then I saw a tweet from this
• 5:03
  website that I go to regularly, called Raider IO, saying that
• 5:07
  they were hiring for a position and I applied, and I spoke to
• 5:13
  the owner jaw and he said, I really want you to Mark here.
• 5:17
  But you know this position isn't really a good fit.
• 5:19
  So I kind of just made a new position for me.
• 5:22
  I started running the events program and then eventually kind
• 5:26
  of overtime. I kind of I want to say I'm a
• 5:30
  little bit of an alpha type personality, maybe a little bit
• 5:33
  and you know, I saw some things where we could kind of,
• 5:35
  restructure some things, make the process, he's a little more
• 5:38
  efficient with our content, our events and you know, the long
• 5:42
  story short which eventually job was just like okay you're just
• 5:45
  in charge now. So you know it was it was a
• 5:50
  great kind of crazy path to take and that was where back then we
• 5:55
  had about five people on staff. We now have 28 people Well, as
• 5:59
  part of the radar out team, which includes our developers,
• 6:02
  which is a growing team, but there's a very small development
• 6:05
  team doing all the work, you see a traitor.
• 6:07
  I oh, so it's actually incredibly crazy.
• 6:10
  How much gets done with such a small team but other than the
• 6:14
  developer development team. So basically the content social
• 6:18
  media events support that all falls under my purview of kind
• 6:24
  of what I look after and make sure it all runs smoothly and
• 6:26
  everyone gets what they need out of it.
• 6:28
  And, you know, Basically just here to help the community and
• 6:31
  bring them great, good content and especially race the world
• 6:34
  first coverage. But that's a sorry, a little
• 6:38
  little long-winded story there of how I got to where I am.
• 6:41
  But yeah that's that's the hula hoop story that is an amazing
• 6:46
  story. I honestly have not heard that
• 6:48
  story before so I'm glad you did that.
• 6:50
  I haven't I don't talk about it very often but yes that is the
• 6:53
  the crazy path. I took you're actually quite a
• 6:56
  forward-facing general manager. When I think back to Rio, you're
• 7:03
  almost the face of raider. I, oh, I know, in a way.
• 7:06
  Yeah, it's kind of interesting survey Dario's been around since
• 7:09
  2017 and our owner Creator lead developer is a man named jaw and
• 7:15
  he he's very behind the scenes, he just kind of, you know, does
• 7:22
  the work and just wants it to all be amazing for the
• 7:24
  community, but he's not a very out-there type of person.
• 7:29
  And when I kind of joined that kind of became my role to be
• 7:33
  kind of that liaison with the community.
• 7:36
  It's actually funny. So I don't know if you guys
• 7:37
  remember but you've been playing for a long time.
• 7:39
  If you remember a website called wow Jutsu which was kind of like
• 7:43
  a first iteration of progression.
• 7:46
  Tracking job made that website. So that was his first kind of
• 7:50
  dipping his chosen to kind of making a Warcraft website, but
• 7:53
  he had to put an end to that. And then because he was working
• 7:57
  at the time at in software Air, and it became a bit of a
• 8:00
  conflict. So he moved on from there and
• 8:04
  now he created by the Rio in 2017 and the goal, the original
• 8:07
  goal for greater IO was to be a recruitment system.
• 8:12
  That was the original goal, five years ago.
• 8:14
  And they, he and his Partners will soga.
• 8:18
  They decided, you know, we want this website to be a great
• 8:22
  recruitment tool, but we wanted to be a site that people are
• 8:25
  going to anyways. You know, for another reason and
• 8:29
  Recruitments there to help out sort of thing, they don't, you
• 8:31
  know that just kind of will get the website traction and then
• 8:34
  the recruitment system will be available.
• 8:36
  So that's where the Mythic plus score came in, you know, radar.
• 8:40
  Oh score. So that's when it got developed.
• 8:42
  When Legion came out with the Mythic plus.
• 8:44
  That's kind of a main reason for people to visit radar IO.
• 8:47
  And then, of course, you know, the recruitment system took a
• 8:49
  while to develop because more stuff kept happening.
• 8:51
  Like oh, we need to make sure we have stuff in place to have the
• 8:53
  Mythic plus teams before we can do that.
• 8:56
  And so now we have a team system and all this stuff So we finally
• 9:00
  launched the recruitment system at the beginning of 2022 but so
• 9:04
  we're super excited that it's it has been come.
• 9:06
  It has come out since but I went on a bit of a tangent there but
• 9:10
  yes it's basically to say that our owner who's kind of been in
• 9:13
  charge of everything since the beginning.
• 9:15
  He's very just wants to do work, the code make the website.
• 9:20
  Incredible doesn't really like to be out there in public very
• 9:24
  much so that has become kind of my role and it's been amazing.
• 9:28
  I've gotten So many, you've got to meet so many incredible
• 9:30
  people through this job being able to do.
• 9:33
  You know, man you were there with me the interview with Ian
• 9:36
  that was you know bucket list check that off and that was
• 9:40
  definitely one of those types of things.

  And yeah, like I, you know, I like to, I like to put a
• 9:46
  friendly, hopefully a friendly face onto radar areas.

  So, people know that we're a company that were here for the
• 9:51
  community were part of the community, right?
• 9:53
  We're not just some greater overlords and in the corner, we
• 9:57
  are part of this community and we just kind of want to make it
• 10:01
  as best we can. Well, another part of the
• 10:04
  community, of course, is you silly and silly.
• 10:06
  Tell us a bit about yourself. Yeah.

  So much thoughts were pretty similar.
• 10:11
  I would say started like 18 years ago.
• 10:14
  Playing classic playing Rogue back.
• 10:16
  Then already always enjoyed playing Rogue except for a short
• 10:20
  stint, playing decayed threat of the Wrath of the Lich King.
• 10:24
  And then I was basically just playing the game, right?
• 10:27
  I was back in school. Let's go.
• 10:29
  Like that and tried my hands. It's like University here or
• 10:32
  there when through some of the. Yeah.
• 10:36
  I mean, I think for most people, someone familiar issues of, you
• 10:39
  know, finding my passion and what to do with my life and
• 10:42
  eventually realized, hey, I'm really good at this at this
• 10:45
  gaming thing. Why not try to push that instead
• 10:49
  of going with like a more also dog some more conventional
• 10:52
  career and I was initially I was a fairly big yeah more.
• 10:59
  A PVP player than a PVE player. I was always writing, but I
• 11:03
  realized that hey Arena PVP back in TBC and it kind of, you know,
• 11:07
  was pushed a lot as an esport had some appearances there and
• 11:11
  all the events which was a really cool experience.
• 11:14
  And then that, yeah, eventually fizzled out a little bit.
• 11:18
  And ultimately, I found my calling and rating and Mythic
• 11:22
  place in particular. So yeah, when Legion came out
• 11:26
  and with class came out, I was really enjoying Like my ability
• 11:30
  to challenge myself by just engaging with hard on how-to
• 11:33
  content and that inevitably led me to radar iOS.
• 11:38
  Well, already just as a user back then because it just had
• 11:43
  the best. Yeah.
• 11:45
  Interface and the best scoring system of all the websites out
• 11:50
  there and what it was still just a player.
• 11:53
  I was starting, you know, doing some streaming here there which
• 11:57
  was quite enjoyable. But it's also Not as easy as
• 11:59
  people think it is to be hiked on stream, like 8, 10 hours a
• 12:03
  day. And so, you have taken a step
• 12:07
  back from that and eventually, I was approached.
• 12:09
  And this is where I basically my Beginnings as a writer came
• 12:12
  from, I was always active in their community and on the
• 12:17
  Discord and even back then on the ioc as well, and really
• 12:21
  enjoyed helping people. And just with my Insider, my
• 12:23
  experience try to help people be able to have success within the
• 12:27
  game. And so, I was approached by, I
• 12:32
  see veins to take over some of their Rogue class guides, which
• 12:36
  I've been doing ever since for both assassination Outlaw and
• 12:39
  through that, I got to know an amazing person named star mm,
• 12:44
  who's been doing work for radio and I see veins as well, and
• 12:49
  fact during like in the lead-up to Sepulchre and chaplains, he
• 12:53
  reached out to me and say hey we want to expand and improve the
• 12:57
  radar. I always will It was coverage
• 13:00
  and do you wanna do want to take a shot at it?
• 13:02
  And obviously I was a little bit, you know, nervous and
• 13:04
  concerned because it's something that I've never done before.
• 13:07
  I don't have any like formal training.
• 13:09
  I'm not a native English speaker.
• 13:11
  Since I am, I was born in Germany and so it's like, yeah.
• 13:15
  Do I really want to do this? And eventually I said to myself,
• 13:18
  okay, this is a great opportunity.
• 13:21
  You don't want to want to regret, not at least trying your
• 13:23
  hand at it and it was it was an amazing experience.
• 13:27
  The team at RIT Has been super welcoming.
• 13:30
  Its I mean, probably one of the best places to be able to work
• 13:33
  out. I would say and ever since then,
• 13:37
  I've been given more and more opportunities.
• 13:39

  And so I've been having, I have been doing day and the I
• 13:47
  coverage and the great push coverage going to be doing the
• 13:49
  Race forward Force courage. Again, as well, not by myself,

  obviously that would be way too much for taking more of an
• 13:57
  analytical POV. Lying to, you know what we see
• 14:00
  on screen giving some insight and writing articles on the site
• 14:05
  essentially. That's kind of where I'm at
• 14:08
  right now and who knows where I'll be in 6 months or 12
• 14:11
  months, but so far, it's been a reader I am.

  Yeah, so far it's been an amazing journey.

  So I'm really grateful and hopefully people enjoy the

  content, I create as well. That's awesome.

  Yeah, I have been really enjoying the different events
• 14:30
  that have been coming up, including you guys just did that
• 14:33
  Mythic push where you got so many people in the community
• 14:36
  that I normally wouldn't see getting involved into that.

  So that was really amazing. That you guys have done even

  just that but like your coverage of all the events has been quite
• 14:46

  I have a question for you specifically because something
• 14:52
  was announced a new Program with liquid, women in Warcraft, I got
• 14:57
  an ounce called liquid women, Warcraft to prove guilt.
• 15:00
  So to have been working on. Can you talk a little bit about
• 15:02
  that? Absolutely.
• 15:04
  So it was we just came out with. Well we just kind of formally
• 15:09
  announced the this part of the program just recently but liquid
• 15:13
  women is so Team Liquid, of course, as everyone knows.
• 15:16
  The Esports organization brought liquid The Guild under their
• 15:19
  arms at the beginning of the year and early on in to kind of
• 15:24
  jumping into the wow, ecosystem, the head, the the top people at
• 15:29
  teamliquid were like, why are there no women rating at the
• 15:32
  high level? Like what we're all the women
• 15:35
  and people had to basically tell them.
• 15:37
  Yeah, you know, World of Warcraft, it's, especially at
• 15:39
  the top levels, it's not the most welcoming place for, for
• 15:43
  gender minorities. And they basically told the, the
• 15:48
  leadership of the guild they brought in, like, okay, fix it.
• 15:53
  And so, you know, A daunting task but just fix it.
• 15:59
  And so I was asked early on, you know, as I said, I've been
• 16:05
  playing this game for a long time.
• 16:08
  I've raided it at decent levels. I've competed in the MDI.
• 16:11
  I've experienced the misogyny that comes with it.
• 16:15
  Being a woman in this game and I'm very passionate about
• 16:20
  fixing. It lets you know, to boil it
• 16:23
  down and And dumb it down. You know, obviously it's a
• 16:26
  daunting task. But I was asked early on to be a
• 16:30
  part of this initiative that they said, okay, we're going to
• 16:32
  do something about this. And so obviously, it wasn't just
• 16:35
  a go out and fix it was. Let's identify the problems.
• 16:38
  Let's identify what's really happening.
• 16:40
  Let's try to do something about it.
• 16:42
  So four of us created what is now known as liquid women in
• 16:46
  Warcraft. So it is a teamliquid initiative
• 16:48
  and there's four of us community members, who are part of the
• 16:50
  council. Myself cat, who is the guilty
• 16:54
  You're of a guild called propaganda.
• 16:56
  A formidable woman who leads an incredible Guild and create an
• 17:02
  amazing environment and it's just really, really talented and
• 17:06
  experienced in understanding what people need to be in a good
• 17:09
  environment and how to create that Ferris?
• 17:13
  Who is part of the wow. Esports admin team, who also
• 17:17
  used to work at radar? A oh, so wonderful friend of
• 17:19
  mine Ferris. She is also a fantastic rest of
• 17:24
  Jared. Don't tell her, I said that.
• 17:26
  But she also joined the council and then it's also a Dean
• 17:30
  currently as our leader, who is part of the team, liquid team as
• 17:34
  well. She's the treasurer and sales
• 17:35
  manager for 14 liquids guilt. And so, we created this
• 17:39
  initiative where it's essentially, we're creating a
• 17:43
  community programs workshops events, to Foster and increase,
• 17:49
  diversity, and representation of gender minorities in Warcraft.
• 17:52
  It is again a daunting task. But there's lots of different
• 17:55
  programs were running and one of them is our featured Guild
• 17:58
  program. And so what that is is basically
• 18:01
  guilds who follow the rules, basically, we've set out some
• 18:04
  stipulations, one of them being you have to have gender
• 18:07
  minorities in leadership of your guilt active leadership in your
• 18:11
  guild has to be gender minorities in leadership
• 18:14
  positions. And you have to abide by a
• 18:16
  certain code of conduct that code of conduct has to be like,
• 18:19
  you know, part of your guild policies that has to have
• 18:22
  specific language. Various things that we Require
• 18:25
  basically just follow the ideals and values of liquid women and
• 18:29
  so these kids can apply to be part of this feature Guild
• 18:32
  program and we vet them. As thoroughly as we can, we have
• 18:35
  a subcommittee that does this vetting process.
• 18:37
  So we you know, there's a whole application form and for anyone
• 18:41
  applying in the future for your guild be thorough with the
• 18:43
  application form. This is our best.
• 18:45
  This is your first impression. You know, we want to know who
• 18:48
  you are and what what your guild is and what you're about.
• 18:51
  And then so we go through the applications and we do our best
• 18:54
  to A our social streams, we talked to people in the
• 18:58
  community. Hey anything about the skilled,
• 19:00
  I need to know, right? So basically and through the
• 19:03
  vetting process, we do how we do our very best to do our due
• 19:05
  diligence and guilds that we believe are, you know, fostering
• 19:09
  these safe places and these environments where gender
• 19:12
  minorities can play the game improve at the game and Achieve,
• 19:16
  what they're looking for into the game.
• 19:18
  We designate them liquid, women approved heels And with radar
• 19:23
  IO, what we've been able to do, which I'm super excited about is
• 19:26
  actually create a liquid, women approved, Guild designation.
• 19:29
  So these guilds will actually have the liquid women icon on
• 19:33
  their Guild profiles. You can see a little, the little
• 19:36
  horse next to the Guild on all of their stuff.
• 19:39
  Their recruitment profiles themselves, will also have the
• 19:42
  little icon. It will say that they are
• 19:44
  liquid. Women approved guilt.
• 19:45
  And there's also the best part in the recruitment system
• 19:48
  itself. There's a filter so you can
• 19:50
  filter your selection. Ins to only show liquid, women
• 19:53
  approved gilts you can have it show only that you can include
• 19:58
  that as an additional filter. You can also make it so that you
• 20:01
  can only be contacted as a player by guilds that are
• 20:04
  liquid, women approved killed. So navigating the Waters of
• 20:08
  guilt as a gender minority is incredibly difficult, there are
• 20:13
  more guilds, you will find more guilds that you realize.
• 20:16
  This is not a good place before you find one that can be your
• 20:20
  home and we I want to help people with that with that
• 20:23
  process. So we really hope that you know,
• 20:25
  this system, this program this recruitment feature will make it
• 20:28
  easier for people to know like this is a guild that I can be
• 20:30
  safe in that. I can be myself that I can
• 20:33
  express myself and my identity and who I am and not have to
• 20:37
  worry about that. And oh I'm going to say
• 20:39
  something that's going to get me, you know, harassed and
• 20:42
  bullied and stuff like that. And I feel that's the ultimate
• 20:45
  goal. So thank you for asking about

  I'm so excited about the program and everything that We're doing
• 20:52
  at Lakewood women and the fact that Raider IO is able to be a
• 20:55
  part of it as well, and to supporting the initiative in

  What you said, like changing changing the environment is is a
• 21:06
  massive Fleet daunting task. So yeah, the this work is, you
• 21:10
  know, something that I very, very deeply appreciate and
• 21:15
  applaud and I hope that it continues.

  And I hope to thinks get continue to get It's fantastic
• 21:25
  before we move on from that. You had said that liquid women

  in. WoW also does mentoring and
• 21:32
  other programs as well. Yeah so there's quite a few

  programs actually that we're doing and 2023 is going to be
• 21:38

  It's a, it's an instant amazing community of Warcraft players

  from all walks of life, you do not need to be a gender minority

  But, you know, you have to make sure that that you're there to

  be supportive and in a lie and, you know, it's just a great
• 22:05
  Community but we have programs within it.

  So there's the featured Guild program you can apply for.

  There's also a one-on-one mentorship program and we've had
• 22:11
  a lot of people actually make use of this and the goal for
• 22:14
  this is and we tailor the mentors.

  We have people who've applied to be mentors, a lot of them except
• 22:20
  a lot of players from liquid. We have some of their analysts
• 22:22
  as well so really, you know, world first caliber players, who
• 22:27
  are able to tailor their mentorship.
• 22:30
  So if people are looking specifically, you know, like I'm
• 22:32
  a heroic Raider, I want to start rating and Mythic I'm playing a
• 22:36
  Healer, you know, how do I get better?
• 22:38
  How do I get to this point where I can do the content?
• 22:41
  I want to do and this is a place where people can come in and get
• 22:44
  this one-on-one mentorship and assistance and health without
• 22:49
  the fear of being harassed, you know, class discrimination.
• 22:51
  Chords can be a little, you know, tough Waters to navigate
• 22:55
  through sometimes if you're in your guild.
• 22:58
  And that's where the environment is not great.
• 23:00
  You know you won't feel comfortable going to your
• 23:02
  officers or fellow Guild mates. This is a place, you can come
• 23:05
  and get that help, get that assistance to really get the
• 23:08
  most out of this game for you because it is a game and we want
• 23:12
  everyone to enjoy it, right? We want everyone to get what out
• 23:15
  of it, what we get out of it. So that's basically the goal of
• 23:18
  that program is to get people to where they need to be in the
• 23:21
  same. Safe environment, where they
• 23:22
  know they can trust, what's happening?
• 23:26
  And definitely check that out. There have been like articles
• 23:29
  about how to use Raid Bots. If you're looking to buff up on
• 23:34
  that without feeling comfortable of asking anybody, there being
• 23:37
  round tables, which the one that I tried to watch actually had to
• 23:40
  get moved over to Nguyen has stream and we lost use of the
• 23:46
  liquid Guild twitch. So we're in the process of
• 23:50
  getting our own twitch Channel but mostly we've been we've been
• 23:54
  pumping Them around between committee members and I and the
• 23:57
  gorillas are two ambassadors for liquid women.
