Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: And we have the Foo Fighters learned to fly going
- 0:09Speaker 1: because we got to tell you a little story about
- 0:12Speaker 1: adversity here on Big ninety eight point seven. If you
- 0:14Speaker 1: don't know this, I am a firm believer that things
- 0:17Speaker 1: do not happen to you. They happen for you, Okay, good, bad, negative,
- 0:23Speaker 1: positive things happen for you in life. And yesterday, for
- 0:29Speaker 1: I don't know if it was the second, maybe it
- 0:30Speaker 1: was the third time. We had a bit of a
- 0:32Speaker 1: scary moment for our sweet Angie in the Big ninety
- 0:35Speaker 1: eight point seven studio where sadly a bird was learning
- 0:41Speaker 1: to fly and it happened to fly or flew right
- 0:45Speaker 1: into a window behind me here at Big ninety eight
- 0:49Speaker 1: point seven.
- 0:49Speaker 2: This was terrifying.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I have a legit fear of birds ornithophobia.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Look it up.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It is like I am deathly afraid. And to be fair,
- 1:02Speaker 3: I feel like I earned it because I was kind
- 1:05Speaker 3: of you know, sometimes you'd be gossiping with your friends
- 1:08Speaker 3: and you're saying things and maybe you wouldn't say out
- 1:11Speaker 3: loud in mixed company. And I was in the middle
- 1:14Speaker 3: of doing that when all of a sudden, this bird
- 1:18Speaker 3: just punk right against the window.
- 1:21Speaker 2: But the way it did it.
- 1:22Speaker 3: It was like a ricochet because it was coming from
- 1:24Speaker 3: one direction. It's like it got hit on the side
- 1:27Speaker 3: and then kept going.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Took a shoulder shot.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, and it was terrifying for me because I'm
- 1:35Speaker 3: so scared of birds, and that just it's it's like
- 1:37Speaker 3: watching the movie The Birds, where there's birds everywhere and
- 1:40Speaker 3: they're hitting things like it was awful, awful. And then
- 1:45Speaker 3: I go over to the window. I do love that
- 1:47Speaker 3: we have these big windows in the studio. However, when
- 1:50Speaker 3: they're very clean, birds get confused, and I think that's
- 1:54Speaker 3: why they always like crash in. So I look over
- 1:58Speaker 3: to where my window was us and there it is
- 2:02Speaker 3: what I thought dead, right below the window. And that
- 2:06Speaker 3: freaked me out even more. And Gabe was a very
- 2:09Speaker 3: kind hearted man and he closed the blinds and he
- 2:13Speaker 3: was like, you don't need to see that, Angie. Yeah, however,
- 2:16Speaker 3: because I'm such a nice guy, you really are.
- 2:18Speaker 2: But the plot twist, the bird was not dead.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Gabe, tell me what you saw when you looked out
- 2:26Speaker 3: the window.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And we spoke on adversity because you thought, oh, if
- 2:30Speaker 1: you know this about Angie, she's afraid of birds.
- 2:32Speaker 2: She went through some adversity.
- 2:33Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no, that bird went through some adversity. Okay,
- 2:37Speaker 1: it crashes into the window, a big giant and I
- 2:41Speaker 1: go over to the other window. I put the curtain down.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't need to hear Angie screaming for
- 2:45Speaker 1: the next six hours. Okay, I'm gonna shut this. So
- 2:49Speaker 1: I periodically am checking on our little bird buddy over here,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and I go look, and he's down there, you know,
- 2:56Speaker 1: sadly it's not looking great. And I'm like, well, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: guess there's gonna be a fox who has a great
- 3:01Speaker 1: meal later or something.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Right, I thought he died.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And about half an hour later, I go check on
- 3:06Speaker 1: mister bird again. He's laying down there and he's sitting
- 3:09Speaker 1: up and his head's moving around. He is not flying,
- 3:12Speaker 1: but he's sitting there and he looks very at the
- 3:15Speaker 1: very least alive. He's moving. I can see his eyes
- 3:18Speaker 1: kind of blinking and things like that.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, all right, that was a crazy update
- 3:22Speaker 3: to me. And by the way, I just have to
- 3:24Speaker 3: take your word for it, because there was no way
- 3:26Speaker 3: I was going to go look out the window.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So I'm periodically checking on this bird and this happened
- 3:31Speaker 1: yesterday morning. I don't know right about this time. Yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 1: And then I go check again at about eight eight thirty,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and this bird has moved from one spot to another.
- 3:40Speaker 1: He completely turned around, kind of moved a foot or two,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and I'm going, oh, all right, I think he's gonna
- 3:45Speaker 1: be okay. About ten fifteen minutes later, we watched mister
- 3:48Speaker 1: bird fly off into the distance.
- 3:51Speaker 2: It was crazy. It could have been a Pixar movie.
- 3:54Speaker 2: It really could have.
- 3:56Speaker 3: So you know what, the bird face some adversity and
- 3:59Speaker 3: he made it through. And that's going to be my
- 4:02Speaker 3: lesson to Angie. You can go through some adversity too,
- 4:06Speaker 3: and go burd.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Much celebrating life's little victories.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Every morning we practice gratitude on Big ninety eight point seven.
- 4:18Speaker 2: If I could, I would keep this feeling in a
- 4:21Speaker 2: basket job busted out when it was someone's acting hard.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Share your little victories with us at seven oh one
- 4:27Speaker 4: two eight oh one ninety eight.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Seven kids, I also needed to win that day, Angie,
- 4:32Speaker 1: do you have a little victory for me today?
- 4:34Speaker 3: Every day I sit down and I read a few
- 4:39Speaker 3: chapters to my children. And Mikey's also there, but he
- 4:43Speaker 3: wrote the book he wrote a book and it's like
- 4:47Speaker 3: a children's chapter book and it's called JD and the Leftovers,
- 4:50Speaker 3: And we are officially over the halfway point of this story,
- 4:57Speaker 3: and the kids and myself are so invested. And it's
- 5:02Speaker 3: always funny because after Aiden will be like, yeah, this
- 5:06Speaker 3: really sounds like a book someone wrote, and I'm like, yeah,
- 5:09Speaker 3: Mikey wrote it, and he's like yeah, but like it's
- 5:13Speaker 3: just he lives here, like we know him, and he
- 5:16Speaker 3: wrote a book and it's like a legit book. I'm like, yes,
- 5:19Speaker 3: it is. So we're officially over the halfway point. Everyone's invested.
- 5:24Speaker 3: And yesterday, like one of the chapters made me cry,
- 5:27Speaker 3: and that was a little victory for Mikey because he's
- 5:30Speaker 3: always very amused when I get emotional over things and
- 5:35Speaker 3: he's like, just wait, you're really gonna cry later. So
- 5:39Speaker 3: I'm excited for that, but it is It's one of
- 5:41Speaker 3: my favorite family times that we have, is after Liam
- 5:46Speaker 3: does his math lesson for the night, then we go
- 5:50Speaker 3: on to reading the book and I get to do
- 5:52Speaker 3: like the voices and it's very fun for me, thank you.
- 5:57Speaker 3: So yeah, we're just really enjoying making our way through
- 6:01Speaker 3: JD and the leftover. So that's my little victory. What
- 6:04Speaker 3: about you, Gabe?
- 6:04Speaker 2: Well, can I ask are you?
- 6:06Speaker 1: Are you like cheating and getting information out of Mikey
- 6:10Speaker 1: about how the book ends?
- 6:11Speaker 2: Or no, he won he's a jerk. Well to tell me.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I want to know too, I know, and I'm like,
- 6:17Speaker 3: I mean, I'm still going to read it, and he said,
- 6:19Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You have to wait like the rest of us, which fine.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Fair enough, my little victory. Turns out I'm the dope
- 6:26Speaker 1: as hubby.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Ever.
- 6:27Speaker 1: For Mother's Day, I totally forgot that there was a
- 6:30Speaker 1: gift that I was a part of getting for Corey
- 6:32Speaker 1: for Mother's Day.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Oh it showed up yesterday.
- 6:35Speaker 1: You know, nine times out of ten when I see
- 6:36Speaker 1: an Amazon package in my front door, I'm like, oh my.
- 6:39Speaker 2: God, what and I buy now and I go out there.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And you know, it's something Corey bought, or it's something
- 6:46Speaker 1: for baby g which is very nice and very sweet,
- 6:49Speaker 1: but it never says Gabe on any of these packages.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And yesterday that stayed the same. It saw my wife's
- 6:56Speaker 1: name on it. But we got this touch screen calendar
- 7:01Speaker 1: that you can like mount on a wall, right or
- 7:03Speaker 1: I guess you could just put it on a stand
- 7:05Speaker 1: or something, but we have ours mounted on the wall
- 7:07Speaker 1: and it's really cool. Obviously it helps you with your calendar.
- 7:10Speaker 1: You can put your appointments. I can put in radio
- 7:12Speaker 1: things I have to do for Corey when baby g arrives,
- 7:14Speaker 1: all the things we have to do for her, appointments
- 7:16Speaker 1: for her and things like that, so that is really nice.
- 7:18Speaker 1: You can put people's birthdays on it and things like that,
- 7:21Speaker 1: so I never forget. But then it also doubles as
- 7:24Speaker 1: like a photo album, so it just has a billion
- 7:27Speaker 1: pictures that it goes through just throughout the.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Day until you need to get until you need the calendar.
- 7:33Speaker 2: What sent me the link for this? That's done.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It's very very cool. I sent a picture of that
- 7:38Speaker 1: to Angie last night. I was like, I forgot, yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but I didn't. I am the best hubby for Mother's.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I suppose, but I didn't know about the picture part.
- 7:47Speaker 3: That it also doubles as a digital picture. Oh, that's
- 7:51Speaker 3: really cool, you know what, you know, I didn't order that.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You know, that was Corey's Mother's Day gift to herself,
- 7:58Speaker 1: paid for it and the world of rules in Gray Areas,
- 8:03Speaker 1: one morning show dares to ask the hard questions.
- 8:06Speaker 2: We both know you're guilty. He's guilty. Is it legal?
- 8:10Speaker 5: You're guilty of the worst crime of all.
- 8:13Speaker 1: On Big ninety eight point seven, it is week two
- 8:18Speaker 1: of Fargo clean up Week, Angie. It's that one magical
- 8:21Speaker 1: time of the year when your neighbor throws away a
- 8:23Speaker 1: perfectly good recliner and suddenly everyone becomes an antique dealer.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You see people driving around real slowly and they're like,
- 8:31Speaker 1: you can tell, you know, the husband and the wife like, honey,
- 8:34Speaker 1: was that a snowblower or a grill? Okay, But before
- 8:38Speaker 1: you go full American pickers on your neighborhood, there is
- 8:42Speaker 1: something maybe you don't know. Technically, the stuff people put
- 8:47Speaker 1: out for clean up week is still private property until
- 8:50Speaker 1: the city actually.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Picks it up.
- 8:52Speaker 1: W While curb shopping is pretty common this time of
- 8:56Speaker 1: the year, experts say you should only take items placed
- 8:59Speaker 1: right at the curb line, and definitely avoid walking into
- 9:03Speaker 1: somebody's yard. You know, there's a very fine line between
- 9:06Speaker 1: little timmy left is, you know, t ball and baseball
- 9:09Speaker 1: out in the yard and oh, that's garbage for cleanup week.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I'll take Oh, And I don't know why I maybe
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm just a loser.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't like it.
- 9:20Speaker 3: You don't like when people take stuff from when the end.
- 9:23Speaker 1: When I'm driving home and I'll see people and I
- 9:26Speaker 1: know it's not theirs stuff that they're picking. It's like
- 9:30Speaker 1: it shouldn't bother me because the person throwing it away
- 9:33Speaker 1: obviously doesn't care.
- 9:34Speaker 2: They're trying to get rid of it.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I don't know why, though, Maybe I don't like when
- 9:38Speaker 1: they're kind of trying to be sneaky about it.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I think you have some sort of repressed memory and
- 9:44Speaker 3: a drama that is leading you to feel this way,
- 9:46Speaker 3: because Gabe, that's a perfectly normal thing to do. In fact,
- 9:50Speaker 3: my neighbors put out stuff at the end of their curb,
- 9:52Speaker 3: and this morning on the way in, I turned to
- 9:54Speaker 3: Mikey and I said, oh, the cleanup week is already happening,
- 9:58Speaker 3: and he goes, well, yeah, but someone took those things
- 10:03Speaker 3: like I saw them.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I saw someone take those things, and I was like, oh,
- 10:08Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Maybe I'm dead wrong here, maybe you know, maybe maybe
- 10:11Speaker 1: it's perfectly fine and normal.
- 10:13Speaker 2: But let me know.
- 10:13Speaker 1: At seven oh one two eight zero one nine eight seven,
- 10:16Speaker 1: am I just kind of a loser or a square
- 10:17Speaker 1: or a stickler for the rules or.
- 10:19Speaker 2: What have you. Because I don't think it is stealing.
- 10:22Speaker 1: They're throwing the thing away, but there's just something about
- 10:26Speaker 1: it that it feels yucky to me.
- 10:27Speaker 2: You got problems?
- 10:28Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Seven one two eight zero one nine eight seven? What
- 10:31Speaker 1: do you think? Do you like it? Do you hate it?
- 10:34Speaker 2: Do you not care?
- 10:35Speaker 1: Because I put something out in my yard right Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 1: if someone would have came by and taken it, I
- 10:40Speaker 1: could not have cared less. I don't know why it
- 10:42Speaker 1: bothers me when it happens to someone else.
- 10:45Speaker 2: You have some hang ups that you need to go
- 10:47Speaker 2: to therapy. I might have to.
- 10:51Speaker 1: A few minutes ago, we were talking about it is
- 10:53Speaker 1: Fargo clean up Week, and we are we learned that.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Now you see it all the time, and for the
- 10:58Speaker 1: most part, don't think people mind or care. But if
- 11:02Speaker 1: someone has something out at the end of their lawn
- 11:05Speaker 1: or their driveway for cleanup week, technically that is still
- 11:09Speaker 1: private property until the city comes and picks it up.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And for whatever reason, I don't know why, I just
- 11:14Speaker 1: don't like it.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I know it's so wet. I don't know why you're
- 11:18Speaker 2: so bothered.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Because I had something out at the end of the street,
- 11:21Speaker 1: and if someone would have driven up and taken it,
- 11:23Speaker 1: I couldn't have cared less.
- 11:24Speaker 2: So if it happened to me, I don't care.
- 11:26Speaker 1: But when it happens to someone else, there's just something
- 11:29Speaker 1: about it that makes me feel a certain way. And
- 11:31Speaker 1: I don't exactly know why. But we do have Peggy
- 11:33Speaker 1: from Fargo on the phone.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Peggy, what's up.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Well, when you look around and see who's actually collecting,
- 11:38Speaker 5: it's usually old guys, and many times they repurpose something
- 11:43Speaker 5: or they refurbish it, and they do it for really
- 11:46Speaker 5: good causes. So if you look around and you see
- 11:50Speaker 5: these guys picking up stuff, then you can kind of think,
- 11:53Speaker 5: you know.
- 11:53Speaker 3: What, this isn't such a bad thing.
- 11:55Speaker 5: They're taking junk and turning it into something good.
- 11:57Speaker 1: That's right, someone's trashed someone else's treasure.
- 12:01Speaker 3: You just need some more context, Gabe. Now I think
- 12:04Speaker 3: you should feel better about it.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're probably right. But what I want the backstory? Okay,
- 12:11Speaker 1: maybe that's where I'm match What it is. I want
- 12:13Speaker 1: to know, are you taking this and refurbishing it, or
- 12:16Speaker 1: using it because you could use it, or giving it
- 12:17Speaker 1: to someone who could really use it?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Yes, or are you just taking it and selling it? Oh?
- 12:22Speaker 2: I don't like you're okay, I kind of scene. I
- 12:27Speaker 2: want to know that it's going to a good thing.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Right, because you don't want someone to profit off of it,
- 12:33Speaker 3: because then it's like, well, that person just could have
- 12:35Speaker 3: sold it themselves then.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Right now, granted they could still always you could always
- 12:39Speaker 1: do that, but maybe you don't want the hassle.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Either way, it makes a little bit more sense to
- 12:45Speaker 3: me why it bothers you. I still think you are
- 12:47Speaker 3: a ridiculous person. Fair I'm a bone to pick with you, Gabe.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Because Mother's Day, Yes, because Mother's Day was on Sunday
- 12:58Speaker 3: and yesterday briefly we talked about like, oh, how is
- 13:01Speaker 3: Mother's Day?
- 13:02Speaker 2: What did you get? Angie? What you do? And then
- 13:04Speaker 2: we even.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Wished Corey your wife happy Mother's Day. You guys went
- 13:09Speaker 3: to dinner or whatever. Because she's already sacrificing her body
- 13:13Speaker 3: to you know, grow this baby, to grow baby ge
- 13:17Speaker 3: and so she's very much already a mother.
- 13:20Speaker 2: But it wasn't until after.
- 13:22Speaker 3: The show that you revealed something that I think is
- 13:26Speaker 3: so unbelievably rude life.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I thought, what happened after the show stayed off to
- 13:34Speaker 2: I know, because this is incredibly rude.
- 13:38Speaker 3: I need you to explain yourself, and I need you
- 13:40Speaker 3: to explain yourself to the big ninety eight point seven audience, because.
- 13:44Speaker 2: How dare you? I'm gonna tell you right now.
- 13:47Speaker 3: For Mother's Day, Gabe got himself a present. What do
- 13:52Speaker 3: you have to say for yourself? Well, you're laughing because
- 13:58Speaker 3: it's true.
- 13:58Speaker 2: What did you do? I can't for Mother's Day? On Sunday?
- 14:04Speaker 2: All right?
- 14:04Speaker 1: So Saturday is when Corey and I kind of celebrated
- 14:06Speaker 1: Mother's Day by doing a bunch of work in the
- 14:08Speaker 1: garage and we went out to dinner to celebrate her
- 14:13Speaker 1: being a mom. On Sunday, I said, hey, what do
- 14:16Speaker 1: you want to do today? Anything special? Because I had
- 14:18Speaker 1: already asked her, is there anything you really are looking
- 14:21Speaker 1: forward to for Mother's Day?
- 14:23Speaker 2: And she said, no, anything.
- 14:26Speaker 1: That you might think you want to buy or whatever,
- 14:28Speaker 1: like just we'll just save it and we'll get something
- 14:31Speaker 1: for Kaylee or whatever.
- 14:32Speaker 3: So then you thought I should buy myself a present.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Well what happened was we went to Costco, right, okay,
- 14:40Speaker 1: which is what she wanted to do. And then I went, well,
- 14:43Speaker 1: you know I could use some new shoes. So I
- 14:45Speaker 1: got some new running shoes and our biking shoes. They
- 14:48Speaker 1: were they were, They were like thirty bucks, so it
- 14:50Speaker 1: wasn't crazy.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I don't care about the cost.
- 14:52Speaker 3: I think it is crazy that you thought I should
- 14:54Speaker 3: buy myself gifts on Mother's Day.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And then we went to Northern Tool and Equipment where
- 15:00Speaker 1: I needed a brake controller for my vehicle. As Corey
- 15:07Speaker 1: and I this summer are going to be renting a camper.
- 15:10Speaker 1: We've been looking at him. We kind of want to
- 15:11Speaker 1: buy one. We might do it, you know, a little
- 15:13Speaker 1: bit down the road. But you got to be able
- 15:16Speaker 1: to control the brakes on the trailer for the camper.
- 15:18Speaker 1: So I bought a brake controller that's a lot more
- 15:22Speaker 1: expensive than those shoes.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Gabe, now I can spin zone this
- 15:27Speaker 2: angie I bought. There's no way that you can.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Spin the I am where I will think, you know
- 15:33Speaker 3: what you should buy yourself man gifts on Mother's Day.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Well, what I did was I bought a brake controller.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Right because I'll be having a trailer that has electric brakes.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I want to be able to safely operate that trailer.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I can't have my eight nine month pregnant wife in
- 15:51Speaker 1: the truck while with our daughter. Mm hmm, and not
- 15:56Speaker 1: have safety equipment in place to keep them safe. I
- 15:59Speaker 1: want them to get from A to B safely, b
- 16:02Speaker 1: back to A safely. I can't operate that type of
- 16:06Speaker 1: machinery without the right safety equipment. So really, what I
- 16:09Speaker 1: bought was a life saving device for my wife and
- 16:13Speaker 1: unborn dogar Wow. Yeah, Wow, that's how I see it. Really,
- 16:19Speaker 1: I'm just being I'm already being a responsible parent.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I hate you so much. No, I don't like this
- 16:26Speaker 2: was a selfish move on your part.
- 16:29Speaker 3: I'm just trying to keep my wife.
