- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome all.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to the 29th episode of the Aussie Footy Show.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Let's get on with the show so before we really get strange.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Welcome back, aidan Mate, welcome back again.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Thank you very much for having me on again.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Pleasure as always.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yes, so into the final series and result.
- 0:33Speaker 1: My goodness, what a show we have for you Four games and then we get to the big ones and what a final series being here.
- 0:42Speaker 1: But it is what it is, but all right.
- 0:44Speaker 1: So yeah, like I said, we're always entering the second week of April final series being here, but it is what it is, but all right.
- 0:47Speaker 1: So yeah, like I said, we're welcome always entering the second week of April final series and we'll share the first week of results series and we'll start off like we usually do, like we normally do.
- 0:57Speaker 1: So, further in doubt, let's get on with the first game, which is the LA Coast, hollywood, map Pride, adelaide.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I will first say not what are you aiden?
- 1:07Speaker 1: Look, I'll let you take over first up.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Mate, take it away yeah, thanks, adelaide and collingwood.
- 1:14Speaker 2: There's a lot of things I could say about this game.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Just like I watched the game I was.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I've been stuck at home all week because I had surgery on Monday last week and I thought I want to try and push through this game and see how we go.
- 1:27Speaker 2: You know, from a crows perspective, I think that they're probably a little bit disappointed, like I don't think they're going to be overly disappointed.
- 1:35Speaker 2: They got the minor premiership, they got the double chance because of it.
- 1:39Speaker 2: This is the difference between a young side that don't have finals experience in their core list of their, all their homegrown players apart from taylor walker, ben's just good.
- 1:51Speaker 2: You look at collingwood that that list has got final pedigree all across.
- 1:55Speaker 2: A lot of those guys who are there played in the grand final victory a couple of years ago for them.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Then you add in the new faces as well.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Nick dacos is getting a lot more experience.
- 2:04Speaker 2: They're bringing in new faces all over the place.
- 2:06Speaker 2: You've still got pendles.
- 2:07Speaker 2: You've still got side bottom.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Darcy moore still there may, so he's come back into the side.
- 2:11Speaker 2: There is a lot of top and finals performers in in that team right now and that's really what showed from from the go.
- 2:20Speaker 2: The final scores here adelaide 8755, collingwood 11ingwood 11-13-79.
- 2:26Speaker 2: And that gap emerged very early in the first quarter and early second quarter where Collingwood were willing to put in the little extra effort.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I was thinking about this after the game and when you play finals football you've got to be willing to go that half a meter quicker, put in that extra 10% at every contest and that's what Collingwood did all night.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Jamie Elliott started the game off really well, set a tone, you know, for just the forward line as well.
- 2:52Speaker 2: You know he made that forward line his.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You know there's a lot of guys at Collingwood who can take over.
- 2:57Speaker 2: It was Jamie Elliott's night, thursday night he made it his and you know that set the tone for the whole of the pies.
- 3:03Speaker 2: You know, throughout the game everyone just that picked up.
- 3:05Speaker 2: As soon as the first goal was kicked by Jamie Elliott you could just see all of Collingwood left, all the players left, all the fans left.
- 3:11Speaker 2: We're going to talk about the fans in a minute.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I'm going to talk about Adelaide first and say Adelaide.
- 3:15Speaker 2: You know when Jamie Elliott did kick that goal that they didn't.
- 3:19Speaker 2: They didn't respond.
- 3:20Speaker 2: There was.
- 3:20Speaker 2: There wasn't much of a response out of them.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It was a heads down we look beat in the first five minutes, kind of attitude from the crows and that's dangerous because I've seen the crows go there before and it's not good when they go there because there's no, there's no reset button for them.
- 3:34Speaker 2: What really upset me about the night was the targeted booing by not all but some sections of the crows fans who went out of their way to buy a ticket for the game on Thursday night just to boo Dan Houston and Isaac Quaynell.
- 3:50Speaker 2: You're going to the footies to support your club.
- 3:52Speaker 2: You go to the footy to cheer on the Crows.
- 3:54Speaker 2: You go to the footy to cheer on Laird and Walker and Fogarty and Thilthorpe and Keyes and that lot.
- 4:00Speaker 2: You do not concern yourself with booing players of the opposition.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I don't care what happened three weeks ago.
- 4:07Speaker 2: This is the final.
- 4:08Speaker 2: You have to be locked in mentally, not just as players but as fans.
- 4:12Speaker 2: The Crows like to talk about the 19th man.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Well, the 19th man was not there on Thursday night.
- 4:18Speaker 2: My player of the game for this one.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I've talked about him already.
- 4:22Speaker 2: He is my man.
- 4:23Speaker 2: He is Jamie Elliott from Collingwood, 94 AFL Fantasy 4 goals, 13 touches, 12 kicks, 1 handball, 7 marks and 2 tackles Ben over to you, thank you.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Thank you, aiden.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Wow, you're talking about supporter base and we're talking about 54,000.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Fortunately, that didn't happen.
- 4:41Speaker 1: We had 52,187, which is definitely a sold-out crowd.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think there was more commonware than LA in my opinion, but I think it was more LA.
- 4:50Speaker 1: They were saying more LA.
- 4:52Speaker 1: But yeah, look, you should boo anyway.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's part of our sport.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But when you boo at a player, it's actually disrespectful and you know you support your players.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That's what makes strong culture.
- 5:04Speaker 1: But, moving on from what Aidan was saying on the old truth base, but for this game you get to run a man that you know.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I've met such a nice bloke and a few years ago I met him in Inter-World Hockey Hall of Fame night and he debuted against Connywood 2009.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And later on he played his 300th game against the team.
- 5:26Speaker 1: He debuted against conningwood 2009 and later on he played his 300 game against the team.
- 5:28Speaker 1: He debuted one mcg for his first game.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And I watched a youtube clip about about tyler walker.
- 5:35Speaker 1: That's the man who actualizes on a milestone.
- 5:38Speaker 1: It's a man that you have gone through for the first, you know, 10 years of your career to showing that it's a good effort.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You go.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Five years ago we thought this was it.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You never gave up your discipline, you got given the task and you basically show what you can do.
- 5:57Speaker 1: This is your time, mate, and unfortunately didn't go your way, unfortunately.
- 6:03Speaker 1: You know not looking.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You know, yes, do take on a team that is in good form and we'll share them very soon.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You know margin, I'm not too disappointed.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I think 24 points is a heavy defeat.
- 6:18Speaker 1: It's one of the biggest defeats in so long and LA and Connerwood always had, you know, the last 10 to 12 riders, always less than two goals.
- 6:27Speaker 1: But going deeply into this game, look, I won every quarter and it was the only quarter I actually was.
- 6:33Speaker 1: More painful was the third quarter and Conor would absolutely hold Adelaide off.
- 6:38Speaker 1: You know it was pretty good up to half time.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Then it was three goals to five and that really think start really ended it for three points to another one goal two.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So you know LA had chance to win this game easily.
- 6:53Speaker 1: You know we're only down by like 19 points and I really don't know what to say.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I think like watching the game for me as well.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Now you talk about about having a chance to score, Like there was that chance that Neil Bullen had, where he looked like he was going to set up, and then he pushed back and took the shot, and then he still left it short anyway.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Thillthorpe had a run in and he tried to decide to hand it off to Keyes.
- 7:15Speaker 2: So sometimes you need to be a team player, but you've also just got to sometimes take the moment for yourself.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Absolutely, moment for yourself.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Absolutely, aiden, and you know, la, you know they didn't kick poorly, which is I, I'll go, I'll take that.
- 7:30Speaker 1: That's what I'm going to say right now.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Aiden and la scored very much.
- 7:32Speaker 1: That scoreline the last one these two met so tells me that five teams didn't even kick 15 goals against each other.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So that's a pretty good achievement.
- 7:42Speaker 1: But getting back, look, connie, were well done on the.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You know, you knew you wanted this more than anything.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You had been, you know, allied or up for the challenge.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I wasn't over the comfort with the win and, look, I have to, I have to give more as a close supporter.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Look, I thought we're going to win this game and I had so much confidence I didn't think it was going to be a bumping win.
- 8:04Speaker 1: But I said something on the last show.
- 8:07Speaker 1: But I really think that, look, I'm not happy we lost that game, but I think we have lots of reasons why we're not going to go into details in today's show, but I think there was a lot, you know, not just by players but the group and you know not.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You know with the, you know what's going around with illness and stuff like that.
- 8:28Speaker 1: There's a lot going on and players get affected and we're all human and we've got to look after ourselves and I think that's really affected us.
- 8:36Speaker 1: But you know, but LA heads up, we tag on Hawthorne, we'll share that very soon.
- 8:40Speaker 1: But yes, we will continue as that player of the game.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So, look that very soon.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But yes, we will continue with that player of the game.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So look, I, I really don't want to really give this player.
- 8:50Speaker 1: You know he's, you know he's come back from injury and he's proven he can play.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Now I, you know, I'll give josh rowan in la, just totally one.
- 8:58Speaker 1: See tom and I in the fence, but yeah, he's definitely up there as a maybe or stream the first horse run or maybe two, we'll find out soon but we don't know.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But Jordan DiGlucci one goal, 107 A for fan city, 26 disposals, three marks, seven tackles, 44% defensive with cents forward.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He Duglucci included five school involvements with a goal assist and with a 17 centre-bound attendance with six clear-unders.
- 9:30Speaker 1: So it was a 332-metre scheme.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So this fella has come, you know, from injury and what a career he has been so far, and you know I think they'll be ready to play.
- 9:41Speaker 1: You know there's a matter there's going to be two or share very soon, but one out of you know two qualification has already put themselves for an MDG Clash edition.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So all right, it's time to move on to Friday night, which I'll share right now.
- 9:57Speaker 1: The sexy Geelong Cats they've got the Brisbane Lions more than known for what's Roy.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So this team two met 12 months ago, the one week before the grand final.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Now, geelong Cats and the Brisbane Lions on Friday night.
- 10:15Speaker 1: It was a very good crowd, a very healthy crowd of 86,364 packed this Friday night.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Now I personally believe if they're going to do a final series, don't do back-to-back qualification finals.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You've got to mix it up.
- 10:30Speaker 1: You put, say, the Geelong Cats game on the Thursday night, then you go to, you know, the Western Six on the Friday, but it won't work like that.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And then we'll have a.
- 10:43Speaker 1: We go to perth and then back into adelaide like perfect, just like nightfall.
- 10:48Speaker 1: But it won't work like that and I think it was messed up because you can play mcg or the friday in the two.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Friday night games could easily done that.
- 10:57Speaker 1: So, and the brisbane game?
- 10:59Speaker 1: No, there's no brisbane game, but the perth game could be on the first day or not.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Great knockout, you know, mix it up.
- 11:07Speaker 1: But this is the first time I've seen back-to-back qualification finals and two knockout finals.
- 11:12Speaker 1: But the final score here 16-16, 112, defeated 118-74.
- 11:18Speaker 1: So a 38-point victory to the Cats.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And back to King's Bay scoring.
- 11:24Speaker 1: You've you gotta kick out Christine.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Well, brisbane did that nicely.
- 11:27Speaker 1: And just to make it smooth and short.
- 11:29Speaker 1: So let's look at my quarter.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Look four goals on average and I'm at a five in the third and three in the last.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And well, brisbane were gonna come hard but it wasn't enough.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And three quarters.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I really have to solve that.
- 11:43Speaker 1: This was not 20 final D2 match.
- 11:46Speaker 1: This is the quarter play from final.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You have a second time, which one we'll share very soon from that.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Look back you know 32 scoring shot to.
- 11:55Speaker 1: You know 19.
- 11:57Speaker 1: That's quite comfortable At 13 more plus scoring shot in front of the hat.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Look, quotes are those that the both make into the finals.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You know John Woodmore favors to win this game.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I thought I backed up Brisbane to win, but they injured themselves and can they have a lead to go back that?
- 12:14Speaker 1: And they're going to have to go the hard way and anything can happen in finals and you know players dominated all over and Geelong really didn't have even a lead disposal.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So, or even an A for fan city, my goodness, a player will be absolutely my player of the game, but we'll get that really soon.
- 12:34Speaker 1: But look, it's not over, it's totally not over.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And heads up.
- 12:39Speaker 1: You know you're back at home in the country road.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Get Charlie Cameron up and running because I will love fans seeing that song.
- 12:46Speaker 1: It is a Brisbane Lions spirit, geelong, heads up.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Well done, making you a back-to-back MCG first time in so long.
- 12:55Speaker 1: All right, my play of the game.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Now I'm most shockingly myself to not choose a Geelong player here.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Josh Dunkley from Brisbane, 147 A4 fans today, 30 disposals, 11 tackles, 5 marks, 1 goal, 54% in the defensive path, 46% forward half.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Josh Dunkley called that 5-4 involvement, a 453 metres game, 20 centre-bound attenders and five answers.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Look, even Brisbane lost that game.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I said Brisbane, that star of Josh, john Cleese, this never gives up.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And well done being the player of the game.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Aidan, over to you.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you, ben.
- 13:36Speaker 2: That was a really good insight into the game.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Now, this one was a very interesting game because it was a repeat of a final that we had last year.
- 13:44Speaker 2: But things change in a year's time.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Last year, brisbane came in on an absolute steamroll.
- 13:50Speaker 2: From halfway through the season they were odds on to win premiership.
- 13:53Speaker 2: From halfway through the season they were rolling everyone after the bye.
- 13:56Speaker 2: This year, a little bit tougher, a little bit harder for them.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Geelong a much more solid start to the year.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Last year Geelong's start was average at best.
- 14:05Speaker 2: This year their start still wasn't great, but was a much better start to the year in the opening month of footy Now, this game really started off being quite even and it didn't last too long before Geelong put the foot down.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Geelong, the ever professionals, the ever presence in the finals, know what they're doing.
- 14:22Speaker 2: They can be new faces, new places.
- 14:26Speaker 2: It's the same old cats.
- 14:27Speaker 2: They are a team on a mission to win premierships.
- 14:31Speaker 2: You need to be up for the fight against them.
- 14:34Speaker 2: You want a dogfight?
- 14:35Speaker 2: They will give it to you.
- 14:37Speaker 2: You want a fight on the scoreboard?
- 14:38Speaker 2: They will give it to you.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Whatever you do, they will bring to you and they will bring it to you better than you ever can, because that is how they are trained at the category.
- 14:46Speaker 2: One thing that did stick out to me in this game was that incident with the 100 150 meter penalty to cam reina, where suddenly tyson stengel had the bowl and looking for a set shot and then all of a sudden I put my head down and suddenly cam reina's got the bowl and there's a kerfuffle.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Now umpiring aside, we can debate whether there's the right call or not to be made.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Here's how, my, how I take on it.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Somebody at geelong, whoever's in charge of putting together their tapes for the study, the film study during the week if I have someone who does that they need to be paying more attention to the tapes themselves.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Cam Cam Rainer has a history of flopping when needed, so don't put yourself in the position to let him take advantage and get away with it.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Now Mark O'Connor great player, great, probably one of the great players in defense for the Cats.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I'd never met him, but probably a great bloke too.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It's a shame that his name has to be dragged through the mud for this.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Now the second one right in front of the umpire.
- 15:45Speaker 2: That was definitely there and that was unnecessary, but we don't need to get to the second one if we don't get to the first one.
- 15:52Speaker 2: So know that rainer flops.
- 15:54Speaker 2: We know that.
- 15:54Speaker 2: We accept that we don't put ourselves in a position where he can take advantage.
- 15:59Speaker 2: But here's the other thing, brisbane, if you're going to try and get the crowd up with a little bit of floppy, do it at home.
- 16:04Speaker 2: There were 60,000 Cats fans there on Friday night.
- 16:07Speaker 2: They were ready to rip your head off.
- 16:09Speaker 2: You got the crowd up, all right.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Just you got the Geelong crowd up.
- 16:12Speaker 2: They came out after half and steadied the game and blew you out of the water a little bit.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Okay, sure, you've lost Lockie Neal as well now, but that comes second to trying to flop your way back into a final.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Get the crowd up and do it when you are the away team, because you are not at home, and when you get the wrong crowd up, when you get the away crowd up, they will tell you all about it, just like the Geelong fans did.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Now we could go on and debate this game forever, but there is a triple double to Josh Dainley.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Thank you for pointing that out, ben.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I'm going to give my player of the game to a young man from Geelong who deserves it.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I'm going to give it to Ollie Dempsey.
- 16:49Speaker 2: 105 AFL Fantasy three goals, 25 touches at a split of 13 and 12, with six marks and three tackles.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And if I look at the sheet of the AFL Fantasy, the stats, the disposers, the breakdown of all that, brisbane have a lot of players who are in the higher numbers, so Dunkley 147, zilko 130, fort 125, neal 117, will Ashcroft 115.
- 17:15Speaker 2: But Geelong don't work like that.
- 17:18Speaker 2: They operate as a collection of individuals who work as a unit, collection of individuals who work as a unit.
- 17:28Speaker 2: So while I say dempsey only had 105 fantasy, his impact on the game was a lot more than just the one the 105 fantasy fantasy can only measure.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Stat geelong run on intangible.
- 17:35Speaker 2: That's what makes them so dangerous.
- 17:36Speaker 2: They get a week off, they get to cruise for a while.
- 17:39Speaker 2: We will see them in two weeks.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Now I believe we have to knock some teams out Absolutely.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And we go to the west of Sydney and boy, I really thought this team was going to go and knock out one of the teams we have, GDS Giants versus Hawthorne Hawks.
- 17:56Speaker 1: We are playing at ENGIE Stadium.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Like I said, the Giants and the Hawks.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Aidan you ready, mate, I'll let you take over their game.
- 18:09Speaker 2: All righty, here we go.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Saturday elimination final football from NG Stadium in the west of Sydney.
- 18:15Speaker 2: We have the Giants and the Hawks in the first elimination final for 2025.
- 18:21Speaker 2: The first of the top eight teams will join the 10 who didn't make it and sit out the rest of the way.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 18:29Speaker 2: First quarter, second quarter pretty much all horse on the first half belongs to the hawks.
- 18:34Speaker 2: They are very, very much a team on the level.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Going into the halftime break.
- 18:40Speaker 2: It is gonna be all hawthorne coming out of the break.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Hawthorne start the third quarter off well.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It becomes a defensive grind game for most of the third quarter, which realistically plays into the hands of the Hawks.
- 18:52Speaker 2: They get to their biggest margin halfway through the third quarter and then the orange tsunami roll.
- 18:58Speaker 2: One goal after another.
- 18:59Speaker 2: They roll it back, they roll it back and they come right up to a level game.
- 19:03Speaker 2: It is the level game entering the fourth quarter.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Gws have clawed it back but they have had their run cut a little bit too early.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Hawthorne now taking the legs out of the gws in that final quarter.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Why am I commentating it like it's a horse race?
- 19:16Speaker 2: But it is the hawks who get over the line here in that final quarter they kick the three goals that they need to get over the line and they win this one by 19 points in the rest of Sydney.
- 19:24Speaker 2: So a fours here would be nice, thank you.
- 19:26Speaker 1: That sounds really interesting.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Hey, right, instead of having a fours you know it's actually more entertaining we should do a horse like Blue Zumba.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be Melville Cup, but just come over and watch the horse go and act on the truth, yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Commentate on the cup.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Anyway, let's get back to the footy.
- 19:46Speaker 2: So Hawthorne very much all over this one from the jump GWS far, far away from where they want to go.
- 19:53Speaker 2: They were at home.
- 19:55Speaker 2: They were the highest seed.
- 19:56Speaker 2: They away from where they want to go, they were at home.
- 19:58Speaker 2: They were the highest seed.
- 19:59Speaker 2: They belonged at home.
- 19:59Speaker 2: They deserve to be at home.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Hawthorne are built different.
- 20:01Speaker 2: This is the thing about this Hawthorne side is they have a short-term memory problem in a good way.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Weeks come and go.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Most teams they dwell on what happens three weeks ago.
- 20:09Speaker 2: This Hawthorne team is built different.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Every week is a fresh start for them.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I've seen 50 first dates.
- 20:15Speaker 2: I've met 10 second Tom.
- 20:16Speaker 2: That is Hawthorne.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Right now you go up to him.
- 20:18Speaker 2: You say what happened last week?
- 20:20Speaker 2: We don't remember.
- 20:20Speaker 2: It's a new week, it's a new game.
- 20:22Speaker 2: We got to get another win here.
- 20:23Speaker 2: That is the way to operate as a football team Save the good stuff on film, get rid of the bad stuff and operate like you've got to go, live and die every week, because when you are doing that, you have nothing to be afraid of.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Fear is power for Hawthorne in 2025 and they have shown that right there their win gets them a ticket to play the Crows at Adelaide Oval in the semi-final.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Gws, I think, should be disappointed.
- 20:49Speaker 2: They had it at home, they had the situation that they wanted, they had all the conditions they wanted, but they let it slip.
- 20:54Speaker 2: They let it slip because GWS are going to be a team who are oh, so close that is their story.
- 21:00Speaker 2: A team who just can't get it right when it matters.
- 21:03Speaker 2: A team who do all the hard work.
- 21:06Speaker 2: They look brilliant in the first 23 games of the year, then games 24 through 27,.
- 21:11Speaker 2: They look like a complete bunch of Carlton.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I said it, they genuinely look like Carlton when they play finals.
- 21:18Speaker 2: But I could go on and on and on about this game all day, because it was well.
- 21:24Speaker 2: It wasn't a game that I'm going to put in the archives whatsoever, except for if I'm at the Hawthorne Football Club.
- 21:29Speaker 2: It's a game where GWS would probably be the ones who look back on it and realize where it went wrong.
- 21:34Speaker 2: From the start, hawthorne outplayed you, they outplayed your game, then they switched it to their game.
- 21:40Speaker 2: And once they switched it to their game, as we've seen throughout the season, they cannot be stopped.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I'm going to get to my player of the game.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Now my player of the game is going to be from the Hawthorne Football Club.
- 21:50Speaker 2: It's going to be Lloyd Meek, 121 AFL fantasy.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Only 18 touches, 5 kicks and 13 handballs with 5 marks and 8 tackles, but he had 40 hit outs and dominated across the field.
- 22:03Speaker 2: So for that reason he is my player of the game.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Getting the ball out of clearance and from contest got Hawthorne over the line here in this one.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Yes, thank you very much, aidan and Lloyd.
- 22:13Speaker 1: We do have the super final series that's so full and what a show we have so far the Giants and the Hawks, the first in the latest final.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Now, I thought G Dias should have won this game, and lots and lots of reasons, and he can't just show up.
- 22:30Speaker 1: They've got Tom Green has made one their best.
- 22:33Speaker 1: They've got Deanna Green, they've got Kelly, they've got Hogan these players you know.
- 22:39Speaker 1: They've got Aaliyah, ingeborg, taylor, the list goes on and on.
- 22:43Speaker 1: You cannot show up against a team that are going to win it more.
- 22:47Speaker 1: They, like Aidan was sharing Hawthorne, will want more.
- 22:52Speaker 1: They proved they are the better team and they did it.
- 22:56Speaker 1: They go to Western Sydney to go and play four quarters of the football and they did.
- 23:00Speaker 1: They won it in from the first half.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Yes, gws Giants scored six goals to two and they struggled and it was all Hawthorne three goals to one in the final quarter.
- 23:12Speaker 1: So let's make it short.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Final score thing 11-107, 13-10-88.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Pretty high scoring attendance.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Speaking of attendance, let's look at the corral attendance Now.
- 23:23Speaker 1: It was a 20,634, so pretty decent for final series.
- 23:28Speaker 1: But I think that we know that G-Days that doesn't look like they want to be there.
- 23:33Speaker 1: They want to be there to play, but not play next week.
- 23:37Speaker 1: And Hawthorne want more.
- 23:38Speaker 1: They are hungry.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So credit to Hawthorne.
- 23:42Speaker 1: They are going to come to Adelaide, they're looking all right, but can they beat Adelaide, south Australia?
- 23:47Speaker 1: They love Hawthorne.
- 23:49Speaker 1: They're coming to Adelaide and that is as simple as that.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Gds heads up See you next season.
- 23:58Speaker 1: You know thanks for a great season and all the best.
- 23:59Speaker 1: But look, I'm just gonna go and play the game because it's, I have to say, louis mink as well.
- 24:03Speaker 1: With, including that, 40 disposals, 121 able fans to be 18 disposals.
- 24:08Speaker 1: We have five five mark eight tackles, 34 defensive half, 66 forward half, so pretty good effort.
- 24:17Speaker 1: With the free scoring involvement, 28% of centre bounce attenders and the semi-clearances for big unit like Louis Meek, so well done to the week 4 for Ruckman, including, as I mentioned, 40 hit out, so pretty good effort.
- 24:31Speaker 1: We done it.
- 24:32Speaker 1: We made it.
- 24:33Speaker 1: I'll continue on to this final game of week one and it's more than ever in motion we have between these two sides.
- 24:42Speaker 1: A team has made history.
- 24:44Speaker 1: The biggest attempt of crowning this for the round, 27,507 had Optus Oval, which is a proud record of all time, ever since Optus Oval have ever billed for A4.
- 24:58Speaker 1: It's well quicker, but for the A4 generally.
- 25:02Speaker 1: And I'm more shocked that I backed up Friantle to win this game and thought Gold Coast had no answer.
- 25:10Speaker 1: You know, oh my goodness, it just wowed the home of Frirandle Army.
- 25:17Speaker 1: They get knocked out of the first week.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Gold Coast have proven Daring Hubbuck, united Tigers' former coach, to go into the heart of Sun and win in Perth.
- 25:30Speaker 1: It could be a new winning venue for him on the road.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Final score pretty aggressive, but 11-14-80, 12-7-79, was 57,000 plus A heartbroken the full.
- 25:44Speaker 1: You know I'll say this heads up three and a two.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You know, first time playing finals, gold Coast had everything to play for you.
- 25:51Speaker 1: You should have won it from the half-time point but Gold Coast had them other ways Seven goals to four and then three goals to one.
- 26:01Speaker 1: You had everything to win this game, two goals each, but it was just 9-0.
- 26:07Speaker 1: And I really have to say congratulations to Gold Coast for claiming a final spot, but for winning in Perth all time ever for Gold Coast.
- 26:15Speaker 1: No other team can go to Perth and win a final spot, but winning in Perth all time ever for Gold Coast.
- 26:17Speaker 1: No other team can go to Perth and win the final.
- 26:21Speaker 1: It is not easy.
- 26:22Speaker 1: You go from Queensland where we are from LA, and Queensland through over the other side of Australia.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Western Australia is quite a decent city.
- 26:34Speaker 2: And I think as well people from outside Australia don't actually realise how much of a climate change it is going east to west, plus also how big Australia is.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely.
- 26:46Speaker 1: And you know a team that you know.
- 26:49Speaker 1: No one saw this coming.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Gold Coast were not favourites and I was going for Gold Coast because they were new to play finals.
- 26:56Speaker 1: You know the interesting that every 18 team, or 18 teams, have finally claimed finals.
- 27:02Speaker 1: But the interesting fact is gold clothes has been the second to last.
- 27:07Speaker 1: The 17th team come in and 15 years later, 14 or 15 they finally make finals.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And and I was so happy when I heard that score the next day, on the Sunday, going to the 40th, I forgot to check the score and Gold Coast won.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I was like whoa.
- 27:26Speaker 1: So I don't know what else to say.
- 27:28Speaker 1: But all the best Going back home to Queensland, but on to Brisbane the first time Q Clash.
- 27:35Speaker 1: So it just gets really difficult for Brisbane.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Gold Coast have more any but momentum and they should be there.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It is a hard game to tip and I'm going to go for the upset, but we'll share that for you soon.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I just gave you a little bit of a hint, but too much.
- 27:50Speaker 1: But look, it's so hard to play a player of the game and to make this smooth Look.
- 27:57Speaker 1: A player of the game and to make this smooth look.
- 27:58Speaker 1: A player has shown me why he should be an All-Australian and I've never seen him be not in an All-Australian team.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Jack Witt Now he may not be huge in the tackles and marks.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Why I've chosen him.
- 28:09Speaker 1: They include 21 disposals, yes, the one mark of three tackles, but he had 58% in the defensive half, 58% of defensive half, 42% of the fourth half included four screens movement, but his big disposal was 44 hit out from 26.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Attended bounce was eight clearances, a huge for Ruckman.
- 28:33Speaker 1: And why he's not all Australian.
- 28:36Speaker 1: My advice he should be the second ruckman.
- 28:38Speaker 1: He's proven.
- 28:39Speaker 1: He can hit 50 hit outs and Matt Scorn was all Australian.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Wake up AFL.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It's not about Matt Scorn being the best ruck, it's about who can dominate All game.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Can hit 50 hit outs, that's a big.
- 28:51Speaker 1: That's half of 100.
- 28:53Speaker 1: And guess what?
- 28:54Speaker 1: Jarwick, well done, you've been there for such a long time.
- 28:59Speaker 1: You might become my player again.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Aiden, let's share the final game.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Here we go now for long-time viewers of this show.
- 29:06Speaker 2: They know that this year I absolutely flipped a barney on freemantle, formerly a supporter of this club.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Now they are my greatest, see.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I am a successful person in life and I cannot any longer be held down by a failure of a football club like Fremantle.
- 29:22Speaker 2: So I'm going to start off by being cold and callous and calculating, like I always am in Fremantle.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I hate to tell you this.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I am not a religious man, but I prayed for this and it happened.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Three years ago you're in the finals.
- 29:34Speaker 2: You played a game where you got bashed in the first half against the Western Bulldog.
- 29:39Speaker 2: You escaped jail in that game.
- 29:42Speaker 2: A week later you got put in jail by Collingwood.
- 29:45Speaker 2: You didn't get out then.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Last year was an absolute high of a season for you.
- 29:50Speaker 2: No final, this list.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Now you even have Shea Bolton.
- 29:55Speaker 2: This list is a top four, if not top two, even minor premieres list.
- 30:01Speaker 2: And here you are fumbling your way into finals and repeating the same stuff that you did two years ago.
- 30:07Speaker 2: You gold coast winning this game.
- 30:09Speaker 2: They win this game 11, 14, 80 to three.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Amount of 12, 7, 79.
- 30:13Speaker 2: You put yourself in the position again at halftime whereas Ben, you said Gold Coast were up by seven goal.
- 30:20Speaker 2: You're pretty much seven goal second quarter for Gold Coast right yeah.
- 30:23Speaker 2: So you did it again.
- 30:24Speaker 2: You put yourself in a situation that was not in your benefit in the second half again.
- 30:29Speaker 2: This time again couldn't get out of it.
- 30:31Speaker 2: You clawed your way back.
- 30:33Speaker 2: You did the good thing.
- 30:34Speaker 2: You did a good thing, though you did claw your way back.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I'll give you credit for that.
- 30:37Speaker 2: You came back into the contest.
- 30:39Speaker 2: You even got ahead.
- 30:39Speaker 2: You even got ahead, but then you had five minutes to hold on and you pissed it all away.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Who still goes man on Five minutes to go?
- 30:47Speaker 2: You don't change the matchup for McAndrew when he rolls forward.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Why is Josh Tracy defending McAndrew when McAndrew rolls forward?
- 30:55Speaker 2: That's got to be a key defender's job.
- 30:57Speaker 2: That, okay, mcandrew kicks the goal.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Okay, scores a level, scores a level.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Okay, we're going to survive two minutes and we're going to have overtime.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Perfect, it's not a late night for the kiddies.
- 31:05Speaker 2: But wait, fremantle's a family-friendly club.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Now, I forgot Johnny Dock went from being away a free kick to David Swallow Of all the players to give the free kick away to you.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Give it to David Swallow, a man who says win or lose, come the end of this year.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I'm done.
- 31:30Speaker 2: You want to talk about fairy tale moments?
- 31:32Speaker 2: David Swallow kicks a goal with nine seconds on the clock.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Then we go to a review.
- 31:38Speaker 2: It's overturned to a point.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Okay, david swallows kicked a point with nine seconds on the clock.
- 31:43Speaker 2: Here's the thing.
- 31:43Speaker 2: It would have been better off being a goal for you, freemantle, because there is no way you can go coast to coast with a footy in nine seconds.
- 31:51Speaker 2: It is not possible.
- 31:53Speaker 2: So I don't know if this is allowed or not, but I would love to see a player try this.
- 31:59Speaker 2: I would have loved to see Alex Pierce try this on Saturday night run to the umpire and decline the review, because if you run to the umpire and you decline the review, I don't know what the rules are, but you may have been able to decline the review.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Take the goal and then you've got nine seconds at a 666 restart center bounce where you can get a clearance and get a mark inside seven seconds.
- 32:21Speaker 2: That is what it takes.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I've measured it before, don't worry.
- 32:24Speaker 2: But do you see how you've shot yourself in the foot again, free-mantle, you let yourself go again and you pay for it again.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Nat Phyfe is gone.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Sonny Walters is gone.
- 32:33Speaker 2: The guys of the 2010s are gone.
- 32:36Speaker 2: David Swallow kicks golden point and he gets to play another week in what should have been your game.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Congratulations, fremantle, you are the idiot of the week.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Now my player of the game, player of the game, this one, pretty easy for me, it's going to be Matt Rau from Gold Coast 110 AFL Fantasy 34 touches, 14 kicks, kicks, 20 handballs, 2 marks and 6 tackles.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Matt Rowe, the effort there for the Gold Coast, coupled with David Swallow's Golden Point, and they get to play in a Q Clash Semi okay, and speaking of semis, we're here, geelong and Connywood we're facing off Friday night Clash it's the Crows and the Hawks will face the Sixers, the Longcats, the MCG, where it's going to be a Saturday night game, and then the Q clash between the Lions and the Suns will take on the Black and White Army, that Matt Pires on MCG, and I reckon there'll be a Friday night.
- 33:29Speaker 1: What a game that'll be.
- 33:31Speaker 1: But I'll go through my two games and I'll let you head in.
- 33:35Speaker 1: So, well done to these four teams, eagles to six.
- 33:39Speaker 1: But I'm honoured to continue on to the final series.
- 33:44Speaker 1: We're just doing this for fun.
- 33:45Speaker 1: And the Allied, oval and Brisbane are the venues, and then the Pony Vinyls are by the MCG, not the Kittier Park, not Victoria Park, because that's where these are from.
- 34:00Speaker 1: We got the LA Crows from Adelaide, not exactly West Lakes, or yep and Hawthorne down at Box Hill.
- 34:10Speaker 1: So and Brisbane and Brisbane and Gold Coast and Gold Coast.
- 34:12Speaker 1: So we got six teams from different areas and this game the Crows and the Hawks, the last one they've seen there LA took the job done.
- 34:22Speaker 1: This is now not a finishing point, this is knockout finals and I cannot believe I can say, coach, like I said, I think LA can take this game, but I'm not fully confident.
- 34:34Speaker 1: They need to be ready.
- 34:35Speaker 1: They need to be ready, they need to be covered.
- 34:36Speaker 1: They need to cover themselves.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Five teams, especially with LA.
- 34:40Speaker 1: They'll have proud confidence.
- 34:42Speaker 1: They'll bounce back.
- 34:43Speaker 1: No, I think they'll have their start with Shelly.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Shelly is out for two months of football, so it's going to make it.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Is LA ready to take on Hawks on a different environment?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yes, it's Friday night football.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I think they can do it.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I believe they can do it.
- 35:00Speaker 1: They'll be on Friday night footy and this is now time to watch.
- 35:02Speaker 1: There'll be more Adelaide and Hawthorne.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Hawthorne loved coming to Adelaide, as I mentioned early in the show.
- 35:08Speaker 1: So can Adelaide get the job done?
- 35:11Speaker 1: Like I said, yes, but Hawthorne won it and you can see they're struggling early.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Hawthorne came out absolutely on top.
- 35:19Speaker 1: They started well.
- 35:20Speaker 1: La did not start well and that's where concerns me in so many levels.
- 35:25Speaker 1: But I think, like I said, I think LA will recover, they'll be ready to go and I'm going for the LA pros to win this by 10 points in a very close game.
- 35:35Speaker 1: The key clash Don't know how many key clashes, but it's a key clash.
- 35:38Speaker 1: We've had a showdown at Football Park.
- 35:40Speaker 1: We've not seen a lad over what a clash that they'll be.
- 35:43Speaker 1: But first time in history this is a quiet time and the Lions and the Suns go head to head.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Well done to Gold Coast.
- 35:51Speaker 1: You're back in territory.
- 35:54Speaker 1: In that conditions I'm really going to say I am going for up there, aidan, gold Coast, richmond, just don't have their forwards.
- 36:00Speaker 1: They do not.
- 36:01Speaker 1: They've got no style of Lockie Neal I met Lockie Neal's manager, by the way but I really think how Gold Coast played in the West, they can quiet down that country road of Cameron.
- 36:12Speaker 1: The point is I let that out and I think this is going to be not a one point, but I'm going to say 15 points and I could be wrong.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I really could be wrong.
- 36:22Speaker 1: But I would love to see Gold Coast, even if they lose the Pony Final.
- 36:26Speaker 1: If they go through that, I'll be happier.
- 36:28Speaker 1: You know, if they win this game they take on Conway at MCG and Gold Coast and I know, and I've seen this this year, they love big times and we're finally going to see what the Gold Coast sons in prior time are like and they can finally say, okay, gold Coast are going to be a team to look out and see them on the road, on TV in prior time.
- 36:51Speaker 1: They deserve it.
- 36:52Speaker 1: They are my teams and I tell you right now I I'm looking forward to it and I don't know if I'll be able to watch the saturday night game.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I'm confident I'm going to the allied oval, benoit, and I can share that after the you know the reviews and stuff and share my thoughts and we can share our predictions and all that.
- 37:11Speaker 1: What a game they'll be.
- 37:13Speaker 1: But yep, so the la caused by 10 and god caused by 15.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Aiden, take it away for your these two classic games, what should be a good semi-final series I'm gonna start off with saying this is probably one of the best semi-final lineups we've had in the last couple of years absolutely like new faces, like adelaide 15th last year, minor premiers this year.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Gold Coast their first run in in September in the club history.
- 37:40Speaker 2: You know Hawthorne are a relatively new face in the finals okay, they were there last year.
- 37:45Speaker 2: You know the real only one ever present over the sort of the last five or so years is Brisbane, and that just shows you how competitive the AFL is at this, at this level.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Waiting for them in stage three the winner of these games in Stage 3, are two of the old firm clubs Geelong and Collingwood.
- 38:02Speaker 2: So we have a great, not just semi-final week, but we have a great prelim final week as well.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Because I think that not so much you looked at the Geelong game, I'm going to look at the outcome for the Collingwood game, which would be the winner of Brisbane and Gold Coast.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Now I'm going to say I think I'm going to get to my actual prediction in a minute, but I think if Gold Coast get through Brisbane here, look at Collingwood Gold Coast are dangerous.
- 38:25Speaker 2: They've never been to the finals before, They've never done anything like this.
- 38:29Speaker 2: This is uncharted territory.
- 38:30Speaker 2: This is like Hawthorne from last year, the Doggies from 2016.
- 38:34Speaker 2: This is a team that don't know anything about the pressure of the finals and they just go out and play footy.
- 38:39Speaker 2: They like playing with their mates, they like playing for their fans and they go out and they get the job done.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Time for me to get to my predictions, and this is the hard bit when I have to say two more teams are going home because we are left with six great clubs at this stage.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Now I even get into it.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I just want to say that I'm looking at these games.
- 38:58Speaker 2: They're hard to pick.
- 39:00Speaker 2: They are hard to pick because you're not going to know until who gets that real big first early run like adelaide.
- 39:06Speaker 2: They they didn't have.
- 39:07Speaker 2: They got a pretty even breakaway against collingwood but then just had one bad quarter.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Hawthorne had a brilliant breakout in the first half against gwsWS.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Brisbane was probably on the back end of there.
- 39:17Speaker 2: They're the one team who were on the back end of their game all day against the Cats, and Gold Coast, of course, had that really strong side against Fremantle.
- 39:25Speaker 2: We're going to go to Adelaide and Hawthorne first.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I'm going to take a risk.
- 39:29Speaker 2: I'm going to take the Hawks.
- 39:30Speaker 2: This is like last year Hawthorne in a semi-final at Adelaide Oval.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Now they're playing the other South Australian side last year.
- 39:41Speaker 2: This is different.
- 39:42Speaker 2: This year they're playing the Crows.
- 39:43Speaker 2: They don't want to start getting burned at Adelaide Oval.
- 39:47Speaker 2: I think Hawthorne are more ready for this game than people are giving them credit for I think if they do beat Adelaide and I think they can beat Adelaide here I think that they again Geelong's going to have a big fight on their hand.
- 39:59Speaker 2: So, with that said, I'm going to take the risk and I'm going to say Hawthorne by five points.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Second semi-final Brisbane versus Gold Coast Q Clash semi.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Now, just the statistical innumerability of this being Gold Coast's second ever finals game in their first ever finals run.
- 40:16Speaker 2: If you had told me at the start of the year that Gold Coast was going to make finals and have a Q Clash semi-final, just the way the lines had to work out for this to happen over 23 weeks of like, perfectly getting the lines to match up so we get to this stage, plus the first week of finals is ridiculous.
- 40:35Speaker 2: However, this is what we have and, Ben, I agree with you, Neal's another big out for Brisbane.
- 40:40Speaker 2: I don't think Gold Coast are the outsiders here.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I think they are the favourites.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Brisbane took the big loss against the Cats.
- 40:46Speaker 2: They looked shaky.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Gold Coast bombed the Dockers out in the first half and then hung them out to dry in the second.
- 40:53Speaker 2: They are the more ready team.
- 40:55Speaker 2: I think I'm going to say Gold Coast beat Brisbane.
- 40:58Speaker 2: They win the first ever Q Clash final by 20 points and a comfortable 20 of that too.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Okay, so before we move on, and we'll just share a bit of our Aussie footy review for the 20 finals to replace the Sturt Double Blue.
- 41:13Speaker 1: But if Adelaide do lose, it'll be the first time since 1983, and I researched this on the news that if Adelaide lose in such threats being the mind-point is it'll be the first time since 1983.
- 41:26Speaker 2: So I want to share that Please also remember as well that that's pre-AFL era, so the last time to do it was a VFL club.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Yeah, let me just live with little bit more of a phrase.
- 41:38Speaker 1: And that is correct, aydins.
- 41:39Speaker 1: The first time in AFL history since 1983, from the VFL day, adelaide, if Adelaide lose, be the first team in AFL history to do it.
- 41:49Speaker 1: But moving forward into what we are in South Australia not going to brag about the Western Australian National Football League or the Victorian Football League and all that we have the pre-final of the South Australian National Football League.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Being a North Red League supporter known for the red and blue, they are one step, one step to claiming to knocking out the Glendale Tigers.
- 42:14Speaker 1: The Pliniers, now Sturt, won quite comfortably.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Now, I only stayed for the first quarter because I wasn't going to review this game, but my goodness, the crowd, the weather was just perfect.
- 42:26Speaker 1: The Nord Chiefs squad was right there.
- 42:29Speaker 1: But I think and you can go into it if you wish to share as well your restrictions Obviously I'm going to go for Nord.
- 42:38Speaker 1: I think Nord can beat anyone.
- 42:40Speaker 1: They did it against Central, which I had no confidence.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Then they take on LA Crows Reserves.
- 42:47Speaker 1: La Crows Reserves look flat, a lot worse than Central's, and I'll get up the scoreboard in just a moment.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I'm really on.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I'm really shocked in so many ways that, yes, I didn't see them playing finals, but I did not see them come this far at all.
- 43:08Speaker 1: So, yeah, very much.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Yes, la scored a lot more, but North scored more goals and we kicked Christie.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Now, the first week, adelaide came out totally on top and somehow Glenelg found a way.
- 43:22Speaker 1: When Nord faced Adelaide, nord started well, adelaide looked flat.
- 43:26Speaker 1: So it shows me that, yes, we had a really poor quarter.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Four goals, five, or maybe it's five goals five to three, goals two.
- 43:35Speaker 1: So we won that quarter by 15 points.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Then a matter of two goals four to a matter of three, goals three.
- 43:41Speaker 1: So, like I said, I'm not overly confident because Glenelg will bounce back.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Of course.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I think Nord will look really more ready this year.
- 43:52Speaker 1: New coach, you know, new team, almost a new team, been there for a few years and I really think that Nord will take on Sturt.
- 44:00Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm not confident, but I think we can back ourselves on Sunday and really take on.
- 44:09Speaker 1: But I'm really not looking at a margin.
- 44:11Speaker 1: If I had chosen a margin it would be like a now-biter by two goals between five and twelve points.
- 44:19Speaker 1: But look, if we lose this game, I'm not angry.
- 44:24Speaker 1: I will expect that Grinnell to look a bit more better all over the field.
- 44:28Speaker 1: But our defence is being humble and rock solid and Seymour dominating that fence and he was one of my players of the game as well, how he played against one of their forwards.
- 44:39Speaker 1: La just looked really, really terrible.
- 44:42Speaker 1: But we now face, you know, adelaide kick more than Glenelg.
- 44:49Speaker 1: We kick 15 goals to eight.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Nord can easily, should, win, but not easy.
- 44:56Speaker 1: I do not see easy win.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Nothing's easy in Fong and I know we're every team we play in the final.
- 45:02Speaker 1: The matter of fact for North have actually won Allied or Evil.
- 45:06Speaker 1: So in fact of that, glenelg has been one of the hardest teams since they've come.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Good, it's going to be an hour brighter.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Alright, aidan, that's my predictions for this.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Glenelg and North Red League 20 final.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Take it away.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Who you think should take on?
- 45:23Speaker 2: Sturt, you know, a few minutes ago I talked about Brisbane last year being the team that just started steamrolling the competition after midway.
- 45:30Speaker 2: This Norwood team reminds me very much of the Brisbane Premiers from last year.
- 45:34Speaker 2: The first five, six, seven, eight weeks.
- 45:36Speaker 2: They were dead.
- 45:37Speaker 2: They were dead in the water.
- 45:38Speaker 2: They were barely getting over teams like South and West.
- 45:41Speaker 2: From week eight onwards they've became an absolute freight train.
- 45:49Speaker 2: They are a team who are probably destined for destined for a premiership.
- 45:51Speaker 2: I I hate to say it, glennell, you are running on the wrong side of the tracks right now because norwood, you beat norwood last year.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Client norwood sees you as an obstacle to get what they want.
- 46:02Speaker 2: They will run over you, they will run through you and they will beat you.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Norwood should have been premiers last year.
- 46:08Speaker 2: They know it.
- 46:09Speaker 2: You know it.
- 46:10Speaker 2: You're dead.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Sturt will deal with them in a second, their next week's job for Norwood.
- 46:15Speaker 2: Norwood's going over the base here comfortably.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Norwood win by 30 points.
- 46:19Speaker 2: I'm calling it.
- 46:20Speaker 2: This is Norwood going on a Brisbane run.
- 46:23Speaker 2: They are that scary right now Talking about scary football teams under-16s grand final.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Under-18s grand final.
- 46:30Speaker 2: The baby bloods.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Our 16s are in the grand final.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Our 18s are in the grand final.
- 46:35Speaker 2: This is great.
- 46:36Speaker 2: I don't care about our league side anymore.
- 46:39Speaker 2: We can do whatever we want at league level.
- 46:42Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 46:43Speaker 2: We could not win another game for the next 10 years, who cares?
- 46:46Speaker 2: We have two chances to win junior premierships, colts premierships, and I could not feel better about beating the two teams that we have in front of us.
- 46:54Speaker 2: We have centrals, I believe centrals in the 16s and sturt in the 18s but can you just confirm that?
- 47:01Speaker 2: If we said I know it's centrals and sturt, I just A-teams Ben can you just confirm that.
- 47:03Speaker 2: I know it's Central's and Sturt, I just don't know what the order is.
- 47:06Speaker 1: So, yeah, we do have the grand finals up.
- 47:10Speaker 1: So, correction, we do have an under-16s.
- 47:13Speaker 1: And correct to Lazen's Aiden on your A-blood, as they call them.
- 47:18Speaker 1: You know they have struggled and I'm backing up.
- 47:21Speaker 1: We can do our predictions if you wish.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Well, you know who I'm going for.
- 47:24Speaker 1: I'm backing West Adelaide for this.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I do not want to disrespect anyone, but I really don't like Central.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Let's be honest, though Central's are the Collingwood of the Sandfall.
- 47:37Speaker 2: You either hate them or you go for them.
- 47:39Speaker 2: There's no other options, Correct?
- 47:41Speaker 1: yeah.
- 47:41Speaker 1: So West Adelaide under 16.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Now, sturt are pretty good in grand finals and under 18s.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I went to the one North versus Sturt.
- 47:50Speaker 1: North won that under 18s.
- 47:52Speaker 1: No, sturt won that one.
- 47:54Speaker 1: So if I recall, they're pretty good rivals, north and Sturt, in history.
- 47:59Speaker 1: But West Adelaide, mate, congratulations.
- 48:02Speaker 1: You know, get around West Adelaide supporters, get down early.
- 48:05Speaker 1: It is going to be a big day on Sunday.
- 48:08Speaker 1: You know, bring your kids, your brothers.
- 48:11Speaker 1: You know if you're an uncle from under 18, it's unusual to have that.
- 48:16Speaker 1: But bring your grandparents along.
- 48:17Speaker 1: You know it's free entry From under 18 to under.
- 48:21Speaker 1: You know it's free entry under 16s and under, from under 18s and under.
- 48:23Speaker 1: You know, bring your kids along.
- 48:25Speaker 1: You know it's honoured to have a grandparent on the big stage.
- 48:29Speaker 1: Now, unfortunately, I won't be there.
- 48:32Speaker 1: You know I might be there for the second game and I'd barely not go to CERN.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I'm sure there'll be supporters.
- 48:40Speaker 1: If not, I'll be shocked.
- 48:42Speaker 1: But you know I'm going West Alley for both games.
- 48:44Speaker 1: You know it's going to be a good.
- 48:46Speaker 1: I'll be really happy for them.
- 48:48Speaker 1: It's good for the club as well and we've got some futures.
- 48:52Speaker 1: You know Reserves and league have struggled, which is unusual, but we come to reserve this with that.
- 48:59Speaker 1: So, ryan, I'll that you share the 16s and under 18s.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Well, I think it's pretty obvious who I'm going for in the 16s and the 18s.
- 49:07Speaker 2: I got my boys in there, so I just imagine the same 16s come off the ground holding the 16 shield as the 18s are running out.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Imagine the same.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Yeah, then the 18s.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Take the 18 shield back as well.
- 49:20Speaker 1: So we come to we know I don't go for any of these teams and Glenelg were taking on South Adelaide in the senior finals and Glenelg got themselves in the finals.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Sturt knocked back North Adelaide prior to which time was making the finals.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Sturt won that game.
- 49:39Speaker 1: It's correct, correct.
- 49:41Speaker 1: So a team with South Adelaide and this is interesting history with Stan Westbrook, south Ballet Aiden.
- 49:46Speaker 1: The league struggles but the reserves dominate.
- 49:48Speaker 1: It's both of you, the vice versa, it's always the league.
- 49:51Speaker 1: The league needs to find these players and don't worry, south Ballet, they have some funds.
- 49:57Speaker 2: They need to bring some talent.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Well, it's interesting you say that because I was thinking about this this morning was okay, we might not be a norwood at league level, but that's because all of our 16s and 18s don't make it up to league.
- 50:10Speaker 2: They go off to the afl, you know.
- 50:12Speaker 2: So, while we might not be contending at league level, at west adelaide our young kids are the cream of the crop.
- 50:17Speaker 2: They are the ones getting picked up early and going into the big stage, yeah, so the pretty final, to face Glenelg in a big grand final.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Now I really love South LA to win the front of ship.
- 50:29Speaker 1: You know, can't just have Sturt winning and Glenelg, but hilarious they'll be.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I know if this happens, glenelg and Sturt and Sturt and Glenelg suckers saying what, what happened?
- 50:41Speaker 1: Not exactly correction, but the interesting fact is Sturt have been there.
- 50:47Speaker 1: They were second last year, fifth one this year for the reserves.
- 50:51Speaker 1: No one didn't make the finals.
- 50:53Speaker 1: They struggled big time but Glenel took that spot and South Alley took that spot.
- 50:58Speaker 1: So South Alley weren't there, they were dead bottom, almost like that.
- 51:03Speaker 1: But now look at them.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I credit them to make.
- 51:05Speaker 1: The girls are doing so well, why not be served?
- 51:09Speaker 1: And they should be two no longer.
- 51:10Speaker 1: And bring that no longer.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Bring those South LA supporters back to the Allied Eagle and support your Panthers, because you don't get this very often.
- 51:19Speaker 1: So Panthers and Glenelg are my prescriptions for the grand final.
- 51:24Speaker 1: We'll look at that grand final the next week.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Stay tuned for this, because I will share more, a bit more detail on a separate episode.
- 51:32Speaker 1: But we do have the World Show coming up and I'll keep reminding you all.
- 51:37Speaker 1: It's going to be one of the best there will be like cards coming out, so business cards of some sort for the bjo show.
- 51:44Speaker 1: So contacting myself and aiden will be there, answer any questions and it's going to be awesome because any episodes you wish to share and even be in would like to be interviewed about that subject for free from that.
- 51:58Speaker 1: So that will be up and running very soon.
- 52:00Speaker 1: We also have, like the, this episode, the 29th episode of the footy show.
- 52:07Speaker 1: We have the extra final series of the sample.
- 52:10Speaker 1: So I'll look a bit more deeper than that.
- 52:12Speaker 1: But with aiden's reviews, you know sharing his west adelaide and his power for it and it's fantastic.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Someone's a big west la supporter.
- 52:22Speaker 1: You know, if you're west la supporter and you know someone, get down to allied oval the 14th of september, allied oval from 9 30, your 16th and 18th.
- 52:32Speaker 1: It'll be big deal.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I'm lord.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I respect a team struggles.
- 52:36Speaker 1: You know I'm playing with kenna with this year the seniors.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Seniors will struggle.
- 52:40Speaker 1: They go down to in the LA Football League division four to five.
- 52:45Speaker 1: So I know why we're building teams like you know.
- 52:48Speaker 1: You want their behind the sideline in the league level.
- 52:51Speaker 1: They need the governor and I think I'd give more credit than anything from that.
- 52:56Speaker 1: So there's so much more and hopefully international agenda will be coming out soon, aidan.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Yeah, last week I sort of said this at the start of the program, but last week I had surgery so I couldn't do it last week.
- 53:08Speaker 2: But we'll be back.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Big super episode pretty much coming up, going to be looking at a lot of stuff going on now NFL's back, college football's back, premier League's back, so it's going to be a long ride.
- 53:19Speaker 2: We're going to count down to the NBA and the NHL as well.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Mlb that's nearly at the post-season, so that's going down.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Motorsport as well, coming to the final races.
- 53:29Speaker 2: So it's going to be a strong back end to the year this year.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 53:34Speaker 1: And Sam, big shows are coming up as well the Australian Sport Edition show, the Summer Crickets coming soon, the NBL National Basketball League, the Australian League.
- 53:45Speaker 1: What a season for the LA Fousey to say that I cannot wait.
- 53:48Speaker 2: What a start in the big three for them as well in the small ball competition, the pre-season competition.
- 53:54Speaker 1: I guess.
- 53:55Speaker 1: So it was a bit different and I'm a bit confused who took place, and I was thinking it was Tasmania, but the NBL Blitz, the.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Blitz.
- 54:03Speaker 2: That's what it was.
- 54:04Speaker 2: That's what I'm thinking of.
- 54:05Speaker 1: It was held in Canberra, act, and not all their staff played at them and you know we look really good.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Besides, you know Tag on Tasmania and Bill Hawks.
- 54:16Speaker 2: I have some interesting news about Adelaide as well.
- 54:19Speaker 2: I've heard things going around may not this may not be true, but I've heard things going around where bryce cotton may be able to apply for australian citizenship.
- 54:28Speaker 2: I did saw that and if he does apply for australian citizenship, he becomes a domestic player, which means we would free up an import slot amazing.
- 54:37Speaker 1: You know everyone loves him.
- 54:38Speaker 1: You know, since adelaide memberships are sold out clues me that they're not here to watch the V6s with their shoe, they're watching the legend of Bryce Croson.
- 54:48Speaker 1: There's something that they go to Perth look out for a wildcat Boy.
- 54:52Speaker 1: The players of Sunday Dash and not five, and the other player and some other player.
- 54:58Speaker 1: There was a freeway trade for Bryce Croson.
- 55:01Speaker 1: I think that was a freeway trade for Bryce Swanson.
- 55:02Speaker 1: I think that was a bit of a wasteful, but overall we have one of the best teams, not just Bryce Swanson, not just the big unit, not Isaac Humphrey Trevors.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Isaac White.
- 55:13Speaker 2: It's a dangerous list.
- 55:14Speaker 1: It's a very dangerous list One.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Yes, we get a respect.
- 55:18Speaker 2: I'm going to call it now 36 is a premiership or boss.
- 55:19Speaker 2: We've got to respect your odds.
- 55:19Speaker 2: I'm going to call it now 36 is a premiership or bots.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Early predictions there.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Very, very early predictions.
- 55:24Speaker 2: But with that list they should be really thinking about.
- 55:28Speaker 2: This is our best shot to win a premiership.
- 55:30Speaker 2: In the last couple of years We've had some downtime.
- 55:32Speaker 2: Now we're back.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Absolutely, and we've got a good coach, mark Wells, and his cushies players or men if you want a word in basketball language but I'm really looking forward to the set.
- 55:45Speaker 1: I've never been so excited and it's talking around the town.
- 55:49Speaker 1: I think we got a really good team and respect to perf and they're going to be still good team, as usual they would.
- 55:55Speaker 1: They got you a hawks.
- 55:57Speaker 1: You know they're a good team.
- 55:58Speaker 1: They still will be a good team.
- 56:00Speaker 1: You lost them in the pre season.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Who cares, I don't care less about that.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Get a run in Canberra, you know it's fantastic.
- 56:07Speaker 1: We've got some new imports and I like some local young talent, which we do 100%.
- 56:13Speaker 1: So that's a bit of an Australian Sport Edition show.
- 56:17Speaker 1: You know that's already out already, but the NBL 26 is yet on pass and the A-League, the Australian-New Zealand comp, will do something similar.
- 56:27Speaker 1: I can't wait to share with all that.
- 56:29Speaker 1: So there's so much on the Australian international agenda, a little bit more flexible, and we'll totally share a little bit of Advil.
- 56:37Speaker 1: You know news around.
- 56:38Speaker 1: So the news is amazing, you know.
- 56:39Speaker 1: But I think you know news around.
- 56:40Speaker 1: So the news they're amazing, you know.
- 56:42Speaker 1: But I think you know, like I said, the award show bigger and better than ever, just when it comes out, when we, let you all know, be the first one to listen to it.
- 56:51Speaker 1: It is one.
- 56:52Speaker 1: It should be surprises all over.
- 56:55Speaker 1: We got the the BJ Show Awards show winner.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Player of the game.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Player of the game, player of the year, the code of the year, the goal, the mark, and we also will announce the footy tipper from the bj show and I think one other thing as well that we've done new this year is because last year we sat back and we had so many guys that missed out on our old australian teams absolutely what we've decided to do is we've both gone away and we've made an all first team, which is our official australian team.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Then it reserves for an all second tank yes, absolutely, because everyone should deserve to be in the top 40, as they call it through team.
- 57:33Speaker 1: We'll try.
- 57:34Speaker 1: That's gonna be free, but it's really hard to pick a player and pick that team and I'm looking forward to your surprises.
- 57:41Speaker 1: It's going to be a big show, stay tuned.
- 57:44Speaker 1: We also have quizzes, so quizzes are back.
- 57:46Speaker 1: So we'll be bigger and better than ever.
- 57:49Speaker 1: We'll be preparing that really soon to get you out for a mix of fun questions and our best music, our movies.
- 57:58Speaker 1: All that Make it a bit more different.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Besides, yes, we all think BJ Show podcast on YouTube is all about the sport.
- 58:05Speaker 1: We're not just about sport.
- 58:07Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I love my quizzes.
- 58:09Speaker 1: That's not sport.
- 58:10Speaker 1: That can be a quiz about sport, but it's not just about that.
- 58:13Speaker 1: We got, you know, our top favourite music and movie.
